Transcript
- 0:00Hi, this is Stephanie Maas, and today I wanna talk to you about what's your reputation?
- 0:05Do you even know?
- 0:06I have to be honest, most of the people in the world today have almost zero self-awareness.
- 0:13They think they know, but they truly don't know how they are perceived professionally in the market.
- 0:20That is a very important thing to know, especially if you plan on making any kind of a job change at all ever in your future.
- 0:30We all know the horror stories out there.
- 0:33We know the folks in the market that have horrendous reputation.
- 0:37I'm not talking about that.
- 0:39What I'm talking about is what we're not hearing, but is still being said, and this applies to both candidates as well as clients.
- 0:47Just this week I was talking to somebody about a process they were going through and how important it is to be mindful of the reputation, so.
- 0:55Clients as you are putting yourself out there, whether it be through interviews, networking events, please be very mindful of your reputation and what you're putting out to the market, because I guarantee anybody that comes to interview with you, whether it be tomorrow or over the next several years, they're gonna ask around to see what your reputation is.
- 1:17Candidates.
- 1:18Absolutely the same thing applies Anybody that you interview with, whether it be tomorrow or years down the road, I guarantee you they're gonna ask around when they know they're coming to meet you.
- 1:30Hey, do you know such and such?
- 1:32Have you ever met with such and such?
- 1:33You and I both know doing backdoor references or off the record references as illegal.
- 1:39It sure is.
- 1:39People do it all the dag on time anyway, so how can you make sure that when your resume gets on Bob Jones' desk for his next Top gun hire, that when Bob calls two of his best friends who happen to work at two banks you used to work for, how can you make sure that the feedback he gets is so positive that he doesn't even hesitate?
- 2:02He can't wait to call and sit down and meet with you.
- 2:05Here's how, and it's very, very simple production.
- 2:08Absolutely.
- 2:09If you're in a producing role, you need to produce, if you are in a credit role, you need to do good, high quality credit work.
- 2:16Absolutely.
- 2:17That has to be good.
- 2:19Bigger factors, very simple.
- 2:22How do you treat other people?
- 2:24And by other people, I mean everybody outside of yourself.
- 2:29How do you treat support?
- 2:31How do you treat administration?
- 2:33How do you treat your clients?
- 2:35How do you treat their administration?
- 2:37How do you treat the people north of you on the food chain?
- 2:40How do you treat the people beside you on the food chain?
- 2:43How do you treat the folks below you?
- 2:46How do you treat every single person around you?
- 2:50This doesn't mean you gotta be everybody's best friend.
- 2:52In fact, that's absolutely not the answer.
- 2:54But you can bet your reputation will be based almost solely on how you treat others.
- 3:00So be mindful, be very protective, and treat everybody like they should be treated.
