- 3:16Speaker 6: Milly doing wonderful? Dave, how are you?
- 3:18Speaker 2: I'm doing fine? Did you miss me last month?
- 3:20Speaker 6: I not only missed you, but I also wanted to
- 3:22Speaker 6: say congratulations for a great medical report. All you have
- 3:28Speaker 6: to do is stay cancer free.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and you will.
- 3:31Speaker 4: I will, absolutely I will. Yeah, I got a good
- 3:34Speaker 4: bill of health. I mean, well as good as it gets,
- 3:36Speaker 4: you know, for me. But yeah, I told all the
- 3:39Speaker 4: listeners about that a couple of weeks ago. I'm actually
- 3:42Speaker 4: with completed radiation treatments. They say I'm good to go,
- 3:44Speaker 4: and so nothing until I don't have to go back
- 3:47Speaker 4: until December.
- 3:49Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:49Speaker 6: That's the best goossible news, and just keep on keeping on.
- 3:52Speaker 4: That's great, That's It's one of those things, guys. Get
- 3:56Speaker 4: yourself checked because I had zero symptoms whatsoever, none, And
- 4:01Speaker 4: I went in for a blood test and that's when
- 4:03Speaker 4: they sent your PSA levels very high. And then I
- 4:06Speaker 4: ignored it and went back the next year and they said, okay,
- 4:10Speaker 4: your PSA lebel PSA level is getting off the charts.
- 4:14Speaker 4: You got to get it taken care of it again.
- 4:16Speaker 4: No symptoms. That's why they call prostate cancer the silent killer,
- 4:19Speaker 4: because I had absolutely zero symptoms of anything. So bottom
- 4:23Speaker 4: line is, get yourself checked. Natalie Tennant sent in for
- 4:27Speaker 4: me last month, of course County Commissions. She pretty is delightful.
- 4:30Speaker 4: She's pretty comfortable around a microphone. Yeah, you guys had
- 4:33Speaker 4: a good good time. I was at a beach in Georgia,
- 4:36Speaker 4: so I'm sorry for you.
- 4:38Speaker 2: What's new with you?
- 4:39Speaker 6: Well, I went to the Jersey Shore, all right, and
- 4:42Speaker 6: got a little bit color, little tan, okay, And there's
- 4:45Speaker 6: a very good friend who has a condo there for
- 4:48Speaker 6: the summer months, and she invited me, so of course
- 4:52Speaker 6: I couldn't say no. And it was just a wonderful time,
- 4:55Speaker 6: just just to get out of get out of Dodge
- 4:58Speaker 6: for a.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Few days, like the Jersey Shore, because I've heard I've
- 5:00Speaker 4: heard mostly good but.
- 5:01Speaker 6: It was growing up in Baltimore, That's yeah. We always
- 5:05Speaker 6: went to Atlantic City, uh huh. But the part of
- 5:07Speaker 6: the Jersey Shore that I was at was Longport, and
- 5:11Speaker 6: Atlantic City was like another twenty five thirty miles going north,
- 5:17Speaker 6: and I've heard that, you know, it's kind of down trodden.
- 5:21Speaker 6: So we didn't even go to Atlantic City. But in
- 5:24Speaker 6: my younger years, growing up, going to the boardwalk and
- 5:27Speaker 6: getting saltwater taffy and riding your bike on the boardwalk,
- 5:32Speaker 6: that was a big deal. Yeah, and I remember those
- 5:35Speaker 6: those thoughts, you know, very very fondly. My brother was
- 5:39Speaker 6: always arguing with me, and I was always losing because
- 5:42Speaker 6: he was always ald.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Some things never change, that's for sure.
- 5:46Speaker 5: You know.
- 5:46Speaker 4: It's I have never been to a beach like north
- 5:50Speaker 4: of Virginia, because I've been to Carolina's in Florida and Georgia,
- 5:55Speaker 4: but I've never been to one north of Virginia. I'm
- 5:57Speaker 4: presuming that you have what's the big differences between everything?
- 6:01Speaker 6: Nothing?
- 6:02Speaker 4: Nothing same ocean, I guess just the stuff around it
- 6:06Speaker 4: changes a little bit.
- 6:07Speaker 6: Yeah, but the ocean.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Looks the same.
- 6:09Speaker 6: But I tell you, when you lie outside to get
- 6:11Speaker 6: some tan and the ocean air is blowing, you don't
- 6:16Speaker 6: feel the sun, and it's just a great feeling, wonderful.
- 6:20Speaker 6: But I do want to tell you, you know, you had
- 6:22Speaker 6: no indication about prostate cancer, and I had breast cancer,
- 6:27Speaker 6: and I went for a routine mammogram and two days
- 6:30Speaker 6: later I got a phone call that I needed to
- 6:31Speaker 6: come back in and that's how they discovered that I
- 6:35Speaker 6: had early stages breast cancer. So I too, am very
- 6:38Speaker 6: very fortunate.
- 6:39Speaker 2: How long if you don't mind asking, how long ago was?
- 6:41Speaker 6: That was in nineteen ninety seven, okay, but my problem
- 6:46Speaker 6: was called Ductyl's carcinoma in situ, so there was no
- 6:50Speaker 6: lymph node involvement. But when I had surgery, my surgeon
- 6:55Speaker 6: got a clean margin and all I required was thirty
- 6:59Speaker 6: three treatments of radiation. And ninety seven was a long
- 7:03Speaker 6: time ago, and I'm very grateful.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Well, and you know a lot of that has evolved
- 7:07Speaker 4: even more, you know, since then. That's what I've learned
- 7:10Speaker 4: about when I went through prostate cancer. I learned because
- 7:12Speaker 4: I would talk to people, and Danny Jones was one
- 7:15Speaker 4: that I talked to because Danny, you know, of course
- 7:17Speaker 4: I had prostate cancer. Is prostate removed and Danny was
- 7:19Speaker 4: one of the ones.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I talked to. And it's just come.
- 7:23Speaker 4: The treatments for cancer in general have come so far.
- 7:28Speaker 4: There's way were twenty years ago, you know, let alone,
- 7:30Speaker 4: you know, going back a long time ago.
- 7:34Speaker 2: So how's classes going. You're still teaching the Mediterranean.
- 7:37Speaker 6: People are getting more excited about Mediterranean. And we meet
- 7:40Speaker 6: at the American Job Center on Leon Sullivan Way, but
- 7:44Speaker 6: we only do a morning meeting and that is nine
- 7:46Speaker 6: p thirty. We start talking at ten and Mediterranean. Although
- 7:51Speaker 6: it's called the Mediterranean diet, it's not a diet. The
- 7:54Speaker 6: Greek used the word diet to describe a way of eating.
- 7:59Speaker 6: But I hate the world or diet. I always have hated.
- 8:01Speaker 4: We use the term diet, I think in our culture
- 8:04Speaker 4: to mean you are on intentionally trying to eat better
- 8:07Speaker 4: to lose weight.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Diet, by its definition, is just what you eat.
- 8:12Speaker 4: So you could use you say exactly, you could say
- 8:15Speaker 4: I have a healthy diet or I have an unhealthy diet.
- 8:17Speaker 4: It's just it's not so much an action, you know,
- 8:21Speaker 4: it's not it's not it's not an action verb so
- 8:23Speaker 4: to speak. I mean, it can be used that way,
- 8:24Speaker 4: but diet is just basically food.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Too few people say they have an unhealthy diet because
- 8:29Speaker 6: they would ever give that information out to the public.
- 8:32Speaker 6: They always blame it on something else like heredity or
- 8:36Speaker 6: you know, they had a they had they come from
- 8:38Speaker 6: people who were overweight. That's not the cause, because is
- 8:42Speaker 6: what you put in your mouth. What I'm so excited about.
- 8:45Speaker 6: And I stay excited because you don't come to the
- 8:48Speaker 6: Mediterranean mindset, which is the name of my group, to
- 8:52Speaker 6: lose weight. You come to learn how to eat healthy
- 8:56Speaker 6: and the change is so dramatic that you lose weight
- 9:00Speaker 6: and it's not an intention.
- 9:02Speaker 2: And that's.
- 9:05Speaker 6: It puts. I mean, it gives good an entirely a
- 9:10Speaker 6: new definition because you're eating and tasting food as it
- 9:14Speaker 6: was intended to be tasted, not with additives, not with
- 9:19Speaker 6: loads of fat. Have you ever read a food label.
- 9:22Speaker 6: It's pretty scary. And in many cases your mouth can
- 9:26Speaker 6: pronounce the preservatives because it's got a lot of x's
- 9:30Speaker 6: and z's. I can't say it seven question marks and
- 9:33Speaker 6: whatever else. And I don't want to put that in
- 9:34Speaker 6: my body, and our bodies don't know how to deal
- 9:37Speaker 6: with that, and it causes internal inflammation, aging process, it
- 9:43Speaker 6: causes organ dysfunction in many people from the stuff we're
- 9:48Speaker 6: putting in, and our creator had no plans for what
- 9:52Speaker 6: to do with these foreign objects that were eating. Mediterranean
- 9:56Speaker 6: way of eating has been around for centuries, and really,
- 10:00Speaker 6: when you think about it, that's the way they eat
- 10:03Speaker 6: in that part.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Of the world.
- 10:04Speaker 6: Now, I say centuries, at least one hundred years. A
- 10:09Speaker 6: woman and you may have heard about this. There was
- 10:11Speaker 6: a lady who at ninety nine years of age went
- 10:14Speaker 6: to the doctor for a checkup and he said to her,
- 10:16Speaker 6: how do you eat? So she told him, and he said, well,
- 10:19Speaker 6: then you eat the Mediterranean way. Nothing was wrong with her.
- 10:23Speaker 6: She didn't have one inkling of a medical problem. And
- 10:27Speaker 6: as the story that was in the Wall Street Journal,
- 10:30Speaker 6: actually she continued living and living her life and enjoying.
- 10:35Speaker 6: She made it to one hundred and seventeen and nothing
- 10:39Speaker 6: was wrong. The reason she died at one hundred and
- 10:41Speaker 6: seventeen everything wore out. That was it.
- 10:44Speaker 2: And there's not a lot you can do about that.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Although diet, although your diet can lead or lack of
- 10:54Speaker 4: a healthy diet can lead to joint problems on lead
- 10:57Speaker 4: to all of these things.
- 10:58Speaker 6: And you know, people in today's world are using many
- 11:02Speaker 6: of the weight loss medications and they just want to
- 11:06Speaker 6: lose weight fast, hurry up quick, But they're not embracing
- 11:10Speaker 6: food and they're not embracing the changes of how to
- 11:14Speaker 6: eat in a better healthier way. Now, will all of
- 11:17Speaker 6: that come to pass, Probably yes, But in the meantime,
- 11:22Speaker 6: there are some side effects that are rearing their ugly head,
- 11:25Speaker 6: and I'm never happy about that. I don't want to
- 11:27Speaker 6: see people have to take a sad trip to gain
- 11:33Speaker 6: their weight back or to have health problems. But it's
- 11:36Speaker 6: an inevitability because weight loss is only a tiny piece
- 11:41Speaker 6: of taking care of your health. It's not the only thing.
- 11:45Speaker 6: And if we make it the only thing, then we're
- 11:47Speaker 6: missing the bigger piece of the education around what to
- 11:51Speaker 6: eat how much. And that's what we did, and we
- 11:54Speaker 6: also I believe group support makes all the difference in
- 11:59Speaker 6: the world because you find out there are people who
- 12:02Speaker 6: are just like you and doing the same thing or differently.
- 12:06Speaker 6: But oh maybe I could try it the way you're
- 12:08Speaker 6: doing it, and it makes a world of difference. I
- 12:11Speaker 6: have some great success stories in our group, and I
- 12:15Speaker 6: invite people to come. The costs are very nominal, twenty
- 12:18Speaker 6: five dollars to join twelve dollars a week and that's it.
- 12:22Speaker 6: There's no contracts, but showing up and being consistent and
- 12:27Speaker 6: living the Mediterranean lifestyle is the way to go.
- 12:30Speaker 5: All right.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Remind people the times and locations of the classes.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Again, we are on We are at the American Job Center.
- 12:38Speaker 6: It's on Leon Sullivan Way, Thursday morning, nine thirty. We
- 12:42Speaker 6: start talking at ten and you're all welcome to come.
- 12:46Speaker 4: All right, Millie Snyder, we will talk to you next month.

- 16:57Speaker 4: Buddy, you got a lot of stuff going on. I
- 16:59Speaker 4: mean bike town, you say, I mean right here in
- 17:01Speaker 4: the heart of Charleston. I mentioned the tour to Coal
- 17:03Speaker 4: and Yakfast and you guys are opening up on the
- 17:06Speaker 4: well of the most beautiful places around riding now a
- 17:09Speaker 4: Lake talk about it.
- 17:11Speaker 12: Well, now we've kind of rechristened it as the ride
- 17:14Speaker 12: now Our Lake Preserved because a couple of years ago,
- 17:18Speaker 12: the city council, looking ahead to the future of just
- 17:22Speaker 12: playing outside in your backyard kind of thing, was able
- 17:25Speaker 12: to acquire over two hundred acres of land adjacent to
- 17:30Speaker 12: Riding Our Lake with a plan of expanding the trail
- 17:34Speaker 12: system out there. And that trail system is now done.
- 17:37Speaker 12: It was constructed by a local mountain bike trail builder,
- 17:42Speaker 12: Tracy Toller with Adventure Trail Systems. He worked on it
- 17:46Speaker 12: for almost eighteen months or so, and we now have
- 17:50Speaker 12: twenty one trails open that surrounds Riding Hour Lake there
- 17:54Speaker 12: right there on the hillside, and it's just we're cutting
- 17:59Speaker 12: the red ribbon at noon on Saturday, but just to
- 18:03Speaker 12: you know, kick everything off. We are starting at about
- 18:07Speaker 12: ten o'clock around Shelter five and around the lake and
- 18:10Speaker 12: on the trail system and everything. But we're gonna have
- 18:13Speaker 12: free kayak rides. We're gonna have free paddle boat rides.
- 18:17Speaker 12: DNR is going to be coming out there to make sure,
- 18:21Speaker 12: you know, kids are learning how to fish the correct
- 18:23Speaker 12: way and just some boat safety and that sort of thing.
- 18:27Speaker 12: We don't have any gas power boats on the lake.
- 18:31Speaker 12: It's all paddle boats and kayaks and that sort of thing.
- 18:35Speaker 12: We're going and starting at ten o'clock, we're going to
- 18:38Speaker 12: have a five k and ten k race. The cool
- 18:41Speaker 12: thing about that is the city is picking up the tabs.
- 18:43Speaker 12: There's no registration. Free feet the Appalachian Timing with Ricky
- 18:48Speaker 12: Campbell and everything are coming out there and we're going
- 18:51Speaker 12: to do a five and ten k race, the same
- 18:53Speaker 12: courses for both and they will start at the same time.
- 18:56Speaker 12: One lap for the five krs, two laps for the
- 18:59Speaker 12: ten care and we will have gift cards for the
- 19:02Speaker 12: winners in the various groups and probably some folks just
- 19:06Speaker 12: showing up the runs, like Dave, if you just showed
- 19:08Speaker 12: up to do the five k course, you would get
- 19:10Speaker 12: a tutors gift cards. So that'll be happening. And again
- 19:15Speaker 12: you don't have you can pre register at Appalachian timingap
- 19:19Speaker 12: timing dot com or you can register when you come out,
- 19:24Speaker 12: no fee, just strap on.
- 19:26Speaker 5: The shoes and do it.
- 19:28Speaker 12: We're gonna have food truck out there, We're gonna have
- 19:31Speaker 12: free water, have a lot of other things going on free.
- 19:35Speaker 12: We're gon do some guided heights and that sort of thing.
- 19:38Speaker 12: At twelve o'clock though, we're going to be doing the
- 19:41Speaker 12: ribbon cutting well the preserve right at the trailhead out
- 19:45Speaker 12: at Shelter five. People might know it as also the
- 19:48Speaker 12: dog park area, but right there as a trailhead, we're
- 19:52Speaker 12: gonna be cutting the ribbon and about twelve thirty we're
- 19:55Speaker 12: gonna be a do an eleven mile mountain bike race.
- 19:58Speaker 12: So day nothing happened is riding now our Lake Preserve
- 20:01Speaker 12: on Saturday and nothing at all.
- 20:03Speaker 2: So I love what's going on with the preserve.
- 20:05Speaker 4: Like you said, I mean to take that property because
- 20:07Speaker 4: riding now our Lake is already great and people come
- 20:09Speaker 4: from all around for that. But you add into that
- 20:11Speaker 4: what you're doing around it, Joe, and it makes it
- 20:14Speaker 4: even better.
- 20:16Speaker 12: Yeah, without a doubt. And it's not only for you
- 20:19Speaker 12: think of mountain bikers and everything. But yet I you know,
- 20:22Speaker 12: my office is right at the twenty first Street and
- 20:25Speaker 12: Second Avenue, and I count fifteen to twenty mountain bikes
- 20:28Speaker 12: heading out there every day.
- 20:30Speaker 5: Already. They love the trail system.
- 20:31Speaker 12: And again in Canall Valley, we are blessed with some
- 20:34Speaker 12: great trail systems, from the Meek's Mountain in Hurricane to
- 20:38Speaker 12: riding now Our Lake here in Nitro to Canal State
- 20:42Speaker 12: Forest out in the Charleston area. So we got a
- 20:45Speaker 12: you know, a hat trick here for mountain bikers to enjoy.
- 20:49Speaker 12: But also we've got hikers going out there all the time,
- 20:53Speaker 12: We've got runners going out there all the time, and
- 20:56Speaker 12: so it's just a fun way to be able to
- 20:58Speaker 12: have some fun outside in this fresh air.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Talking to Joe Stevens again from the City of Nitro
- 21:03Speaker 4: nine to twenty nine to Day Island Show and five
- 21:04Speaker 4: any Line brought to you a part by the all
- 21:06Speaker 4: New Generations ford a hurricane visit generationsforard dot com and
- 21:10Speaker 4: meteorologist Brian Hughes has done his job. Joseph, the weather
- 21:14Speaker 4: on Saturday looks absolutely picture perfect. I know it's Wednesday.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Things can change, but right now Saturday looking really really fine.
- 21:23Speaker 12: Well, drop something in Brian's tip jar for me. I
- 21:26Speaker 12: do appreciate that forecast. If people want to know how
- 21:31Speaker 12: to get riding our lake and they haven't been out
- 21:34Speaker 12: there and they want to come out there and enjoy
- 21:36Speaker 12: a really fantastic free day, it really is a free
- 21:40Speaker 12: day and to have some fun, all you got to
- 21:42Speaker 12: do is come on Route twenty five or first Avenue
- 21:45Speaker 12: in Nitro. Find twenty first street, turn on twenty first Street.
- 21:49Speaker 12: There's only one way to turn on twenty first Street
- 21:52Speaker 12: and follow it out eight tenths of a mile and
- 21:54Speaker 12: you will see ride now. Our lake will have a
- 21:56Speaker 12: sign pointing you to either parking or the shelter five
- 22:00Speaker 12: and things. Like I said, we'll be getting underway at
- 22:03Speaker 12: ten o'clock, but we'll be opening at nine o'clock for
- 22:05Speaker 12: people coming out for information. Uh Lafleura Lucas, the executive
- 22:09Speaker 12: director of the Canal Valley uh cd B, will be
- 22:12Speaker 12: joining us out there so people can find out what
- 22:14Speaker 12: else is going on throughout the Canal Valley area. We had,
- 22:19Speaker 12: you know, some other information but was hey, you know
- 22:21Speaker 12: you you you had major rains on from the Nitro
- 22:25Speaker 12: police on midday a couple of weeks ago talking about
- 22:28Speaker 12: safety and the e bikes and everything. Well, actually, we're
- 22:31Speaker 12: gonna have the police department out there on Saturday, kind
- 22:35Speaker 12: of giving a safety class, what you need to think about,
- 22:38Speaker 12: what you got to look for and and that sort
- 22:41Speaker 12: of thing. So uh Patrolman McClellan uh and we'll be
- 22:45Speaker 12: out there and also UH Lieutenant Ricky he'll they'll be
- 22:49Speaker 12: out there and just giving an up to date on
- 22:52Speaker 12: that sort of thing.
- 22:53Speaker 5: We will also have the fire department out.
- 22:55Speaker 12: There talking about both safety and just uh safety on
- 23:00Speaker 12: on bikes and everything. And we're also kind of showcasing
- 23:04Speaker 12: the rescue side by side that the fire department has
- 23:08Speaker 12: that the community pitched in and that's used for various
- 23:11Speaker 12: things out at the lake on search and rescues and
- 23:14Speaker 12: and that sort of thing. But it's just an information
- 23:19Speaker 12: family day.
- 23:20Speaker 5: Come out and have fun. It's all on the City
- 23:22Speaker 5: of Nitro.
- 23:23Speaker 4: All right, Joe, And you guys do a great job
- 23:25Speaker 4: in your social media, so I'm sure you get information
- 23:27Speaker 4: about it there. And again, tell us what time everything
- 23:30Speaker 4: starts out there.
- 23:32Speaker 12: Well, the ten k races and the five k races
- 23:35Speaker 12: start at ten o'clock, so come on out.
- 23:37Speaker 5: We'll be getting out there about eight.
- 23:38Speaker 12: O'clock and you can come on out. Things will be
- 23:40Speaker 12: happening nine o'clock. Really when it is when it gets
- 23:43Speaker 12: underway with the kayaking and the paddle boats and that
- 23:46Speaker 12: sort of thing.
- 23:47Speaker 4: All right, Joe, keep doing great things here in the
- 23:50Speaker 4: City of Nitro. Well, by the way, how are the
- 23:52Speaker 4: Orioles doing. I haven't checked them out. How your o's doing?
- 23:56Speaker 12: Lost three to one last night, scored one run in
- 23:59Speaker 12: the first and Gilbert Logan, Gilbert for Seattle, kept US
- 24:03Speaker 12: hit List until the eighth.
- 24:04Speaker 5: So let's turn the page on that subject.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Okay, well, all right, let's because I know you're a
- 24:10Speaker 2: baseball guy. What about those Mountaineers, Hey, you know what
- 24:15Speaker 2: I mean to tell you right now?
- 24:16Speaker 12: In the honor of their win yesterday, we actually had
- 24:19Speaker 12: a free movie in Living Memorial Park. We had it
- 24:21Speaker 12: already schedule, but it worked out pretty well and we
- 24:23Speaker 12: had stand loot last night in Living Memorial Park. But
- 24:26Speaker 12: I tell you what, from top to bottom, one to nine,
- 24:29Speaker 12: I love watching those kids hit. I mean, I love
- 24:32Speaker 12: watching those kids hit. And I love McDougal out of
- 24:36Speaker 12: Bridgeport coming in and just saying here it is guys,
- 24:39Speaker 12: let's line it up.
- 24:40Speaker 5: And they play.
- 24:42Speaker 12: Like a team. It's not one person and that's it.
- 24:47Speaker 12: They play like a team. And it's fun to watch
- 24:49Speaker 12: two o'clock today against the tar Heels. Let's go Buntaineers.
- 24:52Speaker 2: All right, Joe, appreciate you being here, my friend. We'll
- 24:55Speaker 2: talk soon.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, see you, brother.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Thanks Thanks Joe Stevens from the City of Nitro. We're
- 25:02Speaker 4: going to be talking a little bit more about the Mountaineers.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Jim Workman, who is with the West Virginia Sports Writers Association,
- 25:08Speaker 4: also with the state's premier sports publication, Wally and Whips.
- 25:11Speaker 2: He's going to join us a little bit later on
- 25:12Speaker 2: and continue and talk about sports.
- 25:15Speaker 4: But this is not really a sports story as much
- 25:17Speaker 4: as it as a societal story or sociology story. Taylor
- 25:21Speaker 4: Kennedy is writer for The Gazette Mail full disclosure used
- 25:26Speaker 4: to work for US and Taylor wrote a article in
- 25:29Speaker 4: the appeared about a week or so ago. I guess
- 25:32Speaker 4: did the gazett mail that got a whole lot of
- 25:33Speaker 4: attention about the state of high school athletes and how
- 25:38Speaker 4: many people think we all love high school sports. We
- 25:41Speaker 4: just came off a great state softball chairnament followed by
- 25:43Speaker 4: a great baseball churnament. We all cheer on our teams
- 25:45Speaker 4: and our respective schools and whatever, but a lot of
- 25:48Speaker 4: people got some issues with high school athletics. We're going
- 25:51Speaker 4: to talk to him about that coming up a little
- 25:53Speaker 4: bit later on the show. Something else that's got a
- 25:55Speaker 4: lot of people talking as data centers, and you know,
- 25:58Speaker 4: I mean, it's all the discussion every where you go
- 26:00Speaker 4: all over the sate of West Virginia literally all over
- 26:02Speaker 4: the country. Hoppy Kerchival sat down with three people with
- 26:05Speaker 4: three totally different perspectives on data centers. Chris Morris, director
- 26:09Speaker 4: of the West Virginia Data Economy Office, Amy Margolis, executive
- 26:13Speaker 4: director of Tucker United, and Dato Sleazi, Executive vice president
- 26:17Speaker 4: of Energy Infrastructure Investments at QTS Data Centers. Hoppy, he's
- 26:21Speaker 4: already talk to Chris and Amy. Those are the first two.
- 26:24Speaker 4: The final one in the series of three will drop
- 26:28Speaker 4: tomorrow night at Metro News Television at seven thirty. And again,
- 26:32Speaker 4: three totally different perspectives. You watch, you make up your mind.
- 26:36Speaker 4: The first two are available on Metro News Television. The
- 26:39Speaker 4: third will drop tomorrow night at seven point thirty. Download
- 26:42Speaker 4: the Metro News Television app and check it out. Presented
- 26:44Speaker 4: by Hope Gas and by Career Industries, Tech says this
- 26:48Speaker 4: needs to be addressed by all Democrats now. Nineteen year
- 26:50Speaker 4: old Tyson Proper from Ohio charged and connection with alleged
- 26:54Speaker 4: plot to attack Sunday's UFC event at the White House
- 26:57Speaker 4: involved explosive leaden drones near the UFC arena and shooters
- 27:00Speaker 4: targeting people as they fled. Proper listed GOP lawmakers from
- 27:04Speaker 4: West Virginia's congressional delegation as the people were going to
- 27:07Speaker 4: focus on, including Senators Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Representatives Carol Miller and Riley Moore. Proper also made sympathetic
- 27:14Speaker 4: comments about Adolf Hitler in a group chat. And I
- 27:17Speaker 4: will say this, It did not stop there because I
- 27:20Speaker 4: was having a conversation with a House of Delegates member.
- 27:23Speaker 4: Now out of respect for his privacy, because I don't
- 27:26Speaker 4: know whether he's gone public with this, but there is
- 27:29Speaker 4: at least one House of Delegates member that found himself
- 27:33Speaker 4: in that chat as well.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Appreciate the text.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Tex says, is Trump really giving a rod three hundred

- 30:23Speaker 16: Hey Dave, I don't think I've been on since you.
- 30:27Speaker 16: It's been announced that you're going into the Broadcasting Hall
- 30:29Speaker 16: of Fame. So, man, what a big deal. That's great. Congratulations,
- 30:34Speaker 16: I'm proud of you.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Well, thank you man. I do appreciate it. I hope,
- 30:37Speaker 2: hope you can attend the ceremony. It's towards the end
- 30:40Speaker 2: of October.
- 30:40Speaker 4: I don't know the exact dat off the top of
- 30:42Speaker 4: my head, but it's it is in Huntington, so hopefully
- 30:46Speaker 4: you can.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Hopefully you can attend.
- 30:49Speaker 16: You know what, wild Horses Couldn't give Me Away at
- 30:51Speaker 16: the Rolling Stones restance.
- 30:53Speaker 4: And then by the way, that's the that's my all
- 30:55Speaker 4: time favorite Stone song. Just so you know, WLD Horses
- 30:58Speaker 4: and my all time favorite Stone.
- 30:59Speaker 16: Song is a can't you hear me knock it? Look
- 31:02Speaker 16: at one up?
- 31:02Speaker 2: No I don't, dude.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Do you know I work at a classic rock station
- 31:05Speaker 4: on the weekends. Man, Now much tell me to look
- 31:07Speaker 4: up anything. I'm a big, big Stones guy, Dead Flowers
- 31:11Speaker 4: and the whole deal man. I'm all into all of it.
- 31:13Speaker 5: All right.
- 31:14Speaker 2: So you're on your way to Cincinnati to taking a
- 31:16Speaker 2: Reds game? Is that right?
- 31:18Speaker 16: That's right. They're playing the Mets today at twelve forty
- 31:22Speaker 16: first pitch. I'm sure you guys are broadcasting on one
- 31:26Speaker 16: of your stations, but yeah, I'm going to be there.
- 31:28Speaker 4: All right, let's talk about WVU. They got that big
- 31:32Speaker 4: win over Troy. I mean, and I say big. There's
- 31:34Speaker 4: a record breaking win over Troy yesterday afternoon.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Now they got.
- 31:37Speaker 4: To take on a team that beat them on Sunday night,
- 31:41Speaker 4: and they got to beat them twice, North Carolina tar Heels,
- 31:44Speaker 4: and of course that game is coming up this afternoon
- 31:46Speaker 4: from Omaha. What's your take on this Mountaineer baseball team
- 31:50Speaker 4: in general?
- 31:51Speaker 16: Well, it was really encouraging when they came back and
- 31:54Speaker 16: beat Troy twelve zero after dropping that game. I know
- 31:57Speaker 16: there was a lot of WU fans it kind of
- 32:00Speaker 16: got discouraged when they got beat by North Carolina. But
- 32:03Speaker 16: they got a chance to beat Troy again, eliminate the Trojans,
- 32:09Speaker 16: and now they get another shot at North Carolina, and
- 32:11Speaker 16: as you said, they're gonna have to beat them twice.
- 32:14Speaker 16: But you know, after they take care of them this afternoon,
- 32:17Speaker 16: they got a day off and they play them Thursday,
- 32:20Speaker 16: and I'm confident they're going to the weekend and play
- 32:24Speaker 16: in the three game series to win it all.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Man, what has this meant for the West Virginia sports programs?
- 32:33Speaker 4: You know, particularly the baseball I mean, because look, Wu's
- 32:36Speaker 4: had some good baseball teams over the years, but I
- 32:38Speaker 4: mean they've struggled as well, and there was some talk
- 32:40Speaker 4: at one time that they might even do away with
- 32:42Speaker 4: the baseball program at West Virginia University. What kind of
- 32:45Speaker 4: a shot in the rm GM has this been for
- 32:48Speaker 4: WVU to be able to pull off this season, that
- 32:52Speaker 4: they have do what they've never done before in hoping
- 32:54Speaker 4: hosting rather a super regional in Morgantown. We all know
- 32:58Speaker 4: how crazy that was, and then to make it to
- 33:00Speaker 4: the College World Series.
- 33:01Speaker 2: What does this meant?
- 33:02Speaker 5: It's huge.
- 33:04Speaker 16: You know, in our lifetime, West Virginia Mountaineer baseball was
- 33:08Speaker 16: sometimes an afterthought. It almost seemed like a club program.
- 33:12Speaker 16: They didn't have a nice stadium, you didn't hear of
- 33:16Speaker 16: you didn't really pay attention to baseball. It was just
- 33:19Speaker 16: a spring sport that you know, a lot of people
- 33:21Speaker 16: didn't follow very closely. And that thing changed about fifteen
- 33:27Speaker 16: years ago when they made a little more commitment to baseball.
- 33:31Speaker 16: Of course, Oliver luck gets a lot of credit for
- 33:33Speaker 16: that because you know, he knew, you know, if we're
- 33:36Speaker 16: going into this Big twelve, we have to get serious
- 33:39Speaker 16: about baseball, and they did. They made the commitment. Of course,
- 33:43Speaker 16: Ken Kendrick is a big supporter, and he put his
- 33:47Speaker 16: money where his mouth was. And you know, that ballpark's amazing.
- 33:52Speaker 16: It's something that's gonna when you have the facilities, you
- 33:55Speaker 16: can draw the players, and when you're on television and
- 33:58Speaker 16: when you're in a Big twelve conference, you can recruit players.
- 34:02Speaker 16: And that's what's happened. And of course it's very important
- 34:05Speaker 16: to get a good coach get amazing. He was in
- 34:08Speaker 16: there and now Saban so they're on their way and
- 34:12Speaker 16: you know they're gonna be one of the top four
- 34:15Speaker 16: our teams left in the nation playing this week, I believe,
- 34:19Speaker 16: and you know, the nation has been able to watch
- 34:22Speaker 16: it on national television, and you know, it's never a
- 34:25Speaker 16: bad thing when you're ending a game with an exciting win,
- 34:29Speaker 16: when they're playing Country Roads, for everybody in the nation
- 34:32Speaker 16: to take part of that celebration, I think we've actually
- 34:36Speaker 16: grown the fan base nationwide week.
- 34:39Speaker 2: And every year.
- 34:40Speaker 4: And we talked about this on Midday after every year,
- 34:43Speaker 4: whether it's this College World Series, whether it's the NCAA Tournament,
- 34:46Speaker 4: there always tends to be one or two teams that
- 34:50Speaker 4: really stick out that you know, maybe people don't aren't
- 34:53Speaker 4: aware of, don't have a rooting interest in, and they
- 34:56Speaker 4: just kind of get behind them. And this has been
- 34:59Speaker 4: this West Virginia program. I mean, of course everybody in
- 35:02Speaker 4: West Virginia is cheering them on, but I mean they
- 35:04Speaker 4: have been the talk of the nation. I mean, they've
- 35:06Speaker 4: been the talk of ESPN, They've been talk of baseball
- 35:09Speaker 4: fans everywhere. They've just kind of adopted this team as
- 35:14Speaker 4: a Loyola from a couple of years ago or one
- 35:16Speaker 4: of these other teams that makes the NCAA Basketball Tournament gym.
- 35:20Speaker 16: You're absolutely right, and we've seen it happen a few times.
- 35:23Speaker 16: I think in twenty ten when WVU went to the
- 35:26Speaker 16: final four and Deyshaun Butler was there. They won the
- 35:31Speaker 16: first game they went to the finals. But you know,
- 35:34Speaker 16: that was that was a tremendous boost for the basketball
- 35:37Speaker 16: program because of course that was Bob Huggins and that
- 35:40Speaker 16: was a good story them coming home to West Virginia.
- 35:43Speaker 16: And then we've had had it in football, you know
- 35:47Speaker 16: when we played in some of the big Bowls that
- 35:50Speaker 16: we've played in and you get the Owen Schmidt's and
- 35:52Speaker 16: the Pat Whites become, you know, household names across the nation. Yeah,
- 35:59Speaker 16: we've we've had to take to this. But the way
- 36:01Speaker 16: the baseball tournament works, it's sustained for about three weeks. Great,
- 36:05Speaker 16: So that's that's pretty amazing.
- 36:06Speaker 5: Yeah, it is.
- 36:06Speaker 4: We're talking to Jim Workman again, head of the West
- 36:08Speaker 4: Virginia Sports Writers Association and also a wily, wimpy sports digest.
- 36:13Speaker 4: I know that you're on the road and I'm not
- 36:15Speaker 4: going to keep you long, but I did want to
- 36:16Speaker 4: mention I know you guys are the sports writers are
- 36:18Speaker 4: handing out postseason awards, and I know you're driving right now,
- 36:21Speaker 4: so I don't expect you to, you know, to try
- 36:24Speaker 4: to read those off to everybody. But this is award
- 36:26Speaker 4: season right now.
- 36:27Speaker 16: Right, that's right. So yeah, the high school season is
- 36:31Speaker 16: over now, so we are finishing off our all state team.
- 36:35Speaker 16: So let's see. We release the Double A All State
- 36:41Speaker 16: Softball team today the single ay of the day before that.
- 36:45Speaker 16: So tomorrow we'll be releasing the Triple A All State
- 36:48Speaker 16: Softball and followed by Claude on Friday, and then Saturday
- 36:54Speaker 16: we're going to be naming our softball Player of the Year,
- 36:57Speaker 16: so same with baseball next week on that same schedule
- 37:01Speaker 16: ab A, Triple A Suada and Player of the Year
- 37:04Speaker 16: next week and then yeah, we'll be done for a
- 37:06Speaker 16: little while and anticipating football season. It'll be honest, before
- 37:10Speaker 16: we know it.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Indeed, all right, and you got an event.
- 37:12Speaker 4: I want to give you a chance to plug you
- 37:13Speaker 4: get an event coming up Thursday night, talk about it.
- 37:16Speaker 16: That's right, Thursday night. This is our eighth year doing
- 37:19Speaker 16: a Wally's and Whimpy's Night on the third Thursday of
- 37:22Speaker 16: each month at Buffalo Wild Wings and Cross Lanes. We
- 37:25Speaker 16: always have some great prizes. We're going to have a
- 37:29Speaker 16: grand prize of movie Night for two at the Regal
- 37:33Speaker 16: Theater there in Cross lanes where you if you win
- 37:36Speaker 16: that prize, you get two movie tickets, you get to
- 37:39Speaker 16: pick your movie, you get a large popcorn and two drinks.
- 37:42Speaker 16: That's a really cool prize. Then we've got some Dirty
- 37:45Speaker 16: Birds tickets and just some miscellaneous things that we give
- 37:48Speaker 16: away this fall. We're going to be giving away WU
- 37:51Speaker 16: football tickets, Marshall football tickets. So always a good time
- 37:55Speaker 16: out there, and Buffalo Wild Wings just recently did a
- 37:58Speaker 16: renovation out there and it's a great place to watch games.
- 38:02Speaker 16: So I invite people to come on out.
- 38:05Speaker 4: All right, Jim, let's go Reds and let's go Mountaineers.
- 38:08Speaker 4: Appreciate you being here, man, Thanks a.
- 38:10Speaker 16: Lot, Yes, sir, appreciate it.

- 42:15Speaker 4: Good morning, Sarah, welcome.
- 42:16Speaker 2: To the show.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Good morning Dave. How are you?
- 42:18Speaker 2: I am doing fine? Are you with the mountaineers in Omaha?
- 42:21Speaker 3: I am. I'm not here with your old Greg Carey.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I'm been out here since Wednesday, so it's been It's
- 42:26Speaker 3: been quite the experience, but it's been a fun trip overall,
- 42:29Speaker 3: and hopefully that can continue today.
- 42:30Speaker 11: Now.
- 42:30Speaker 4: If you're running with Greg carry, you're in bad company, man.
- 42:32Speaker 4: I'm just saying, Okay, I'm just telling you.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Well, someone that's worked with him for five years before
- 42:37Speaker 3: this time, I'm well aware of.
- 42:38Speaker 4: That, all right, all right, So, how do you like
- 42:41Speaker 4: the chances the WV against North Carolina today?
- 42:43Speaker 2: Taylor's I think.
- 42:46Speaker 3: It's relatively well. I think it's a good chance, just
- 42:48Speaker 3: because obviously this team that has a lot of resiliency.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Their response has always been good throughout the season, and
- 42:55Speaker 3: where they're at right now is very similar to where
- 42:57Speaker 3: they were during the Morgantown Regional when they dropped that
- 43:00Speaker 3: gating to Kentucky eleven to nine, and then rittled off
- 43:03Speaker 3: three consecutive wins in the morgan Time Regional which led
- 43:06Speaker 3: to the Super Regional victory that won by winning the
- 43:10Speaker 3: twenty nine runs combined in two games. So I think
- 43:13Speaker 3: the response and the resiliency is gonna be really key
- 43:16Speaker 3: for this team. And you know, whoever they thought out
- 43:18Speaker 3: on the mounts, you gotta have confidence regardless. So and
- 43:21Speaker 3: right now they're playing with house money. You know, you're
- 43:23Speaker 3: two and a one in the College World Series. You
- 43:26Speaker 3: could not pass that up. If somebody told you that
- 43:28Speaker 3: earlier in the season, I say, hey, you're gonna go
- 43:30Speaker 3: two and a one with a chance to play for
- 43:32Speaker 3: a national championship. You're one of the four teams remaining
- 43:36Speaker 3: out in Omaha. You take that every.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Single day, especially when they had that blowout regular season
- 43:40Speaker 4: lost to Pitt. I mean, people would have thought that
- 43:42Speaker 4: you were smoking something if you would if you just
- 43:44Speaker 4: said that at that time.
- 43:45Speaker 2: It's just been a great story all around. Taylor.
- 43:48Speaker 4: You wrote a piece last week that has gotten a
- 43:50Speaker 4: lot of attention and was in the Gazette mail and
- 43:52Speaker 4: you say some of our high school athletes need a
- 43:56Speaker 4: reality check.
- 43:57Speaker 2: Explain that.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah, Dan, So, I think it'll lot of ways. As
- 44:01Speaker 3: a society. I think this immediate gratification that has been
- 44:07Speaker 3: continued to be a theme amongst not only adults, but
- 44:10Speaker 3: also now tripled down to our youth has become more
- 44:15Speaker 3: and more parent. What I mean by that is just
- 44:17Speaker 3: look at social media. I got said in my column.
- 44:20Speaker 3: If I've seen it once, I've seen a hundred times,
- 44:22Speaker 3: maybe a thousand times, I don't know. Regardless, I've seen
- 44:26Speaker 3: so many kids commit. Let me say it again, I've
- 44:30Speaker 3: seen so many kids commit to a high school of
- 44:34Speaker 3: where they are going, whether it's locally, whether it's statewide,
- 44:37Speaker 3: whatever it may be. I've seen the graphics thousands of times,
- 44:42Speaker 3: and a lot of these kids, you know, from what
- 44:45Speaker 3: I've seen since I do Fallow High school sports very closely,
- 44:49Speaker 3: a lot of these kids don't amount to this attention
- 44:52Speaker 3: that they're drawing themselves. And when they do this, now
- 44:56Speaker 3: you're like, Okay, then why are you bring all this
- 44:59Speaker 3: that's interest yourself in here? Not able to back it up?
- 45:01Speaker 3: So they're not able to back it up? What's the
- 45:03Speaker 3: point of making the graphics stuff? Just continue to bring
- 45:05Speaker 3: attention towards you, continue to bring this quote unquote immediate
- 45:09Speaker 3: gratification that continues to be a playful thing, and just
- 45:13Speaker 3: continue to get thrown around loosely in our society. I've
- 45:15Speaker 3: just been I keep telling peop about. I've been holding
- 45:18Speaker 3: onto that column for a while and I don't know
- 45:23Speaker 3: when it was. I don't want to call anyone out sessions,
- 45:25Speaker 3: not who I am, but I saw like full consecutive
- 45:28Speaker 3: one in about a week span. I'm just like enough enough.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Well, and there are sites and we all see them
- 45:34Speaker 4: on social media, and I'm not begrudging anybody they can
- 45:37Speaker 4: make money off of it. I'm talking about the people,
- 45:39Speaker 4: but about transfer portals for middle school kids. This is
- 45:44Speaker 4: going to be our current lineup, and we're doing transfer
- 45:46Speaker 4: announcements Taylor transfer announcements.
- 45:49Speaker 2: For high school kids.
- 45:51Speaker 4: They've entered the transfer portal and they're going and I'll
- 45:54Speaker 4: just make up a school. They're transferring from East Canau
- 45:57Speaker 4: to West Canaw And I'm just totally making that up.
- 45:59Speaker 4: But you get what what I mean by that.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I mean, these are high school kids. We're talking about,
- 46:03Speaker 2: the majority of whom are not going.
- 46:05Speaker 4: To play a single down or a single moment or
- 46:09Speaker 4: single inning of sports beyond high school.
- 46:11Speaker 2: The majority the numbers don't lie.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I think a large part too. I also mentioned
- 46:16Speaker 3: this on my column. I mentioned two specific athletes that
- 46:20Speaker 3: that didn't announce where they're going on social media, but
- 46:23Speaker 3: also have a legitimate like cases as to who they are.
- 46:27Speaker 3: People know who they are. Now. I'm not saying that
- 46:30Speaker 3: I'm agreeing with it. I'm just saying, for example, Natalie
- 46:33Speaker 3: Smith transferred from South Charleston to Nitri for Ghost basketball,
- 46:37Speaker 3: went on the lead into a state championship game. She
- 46:39Speaker 3: was a household name at the Western guid Sports Writers
- 46:41Speaker 3: Association's All State meetings. David Robinson, Junior one of the
- 46:45Speaker 3: best running backs not only in the valley but also
- 46:47Speaker 3: in the state. He's also a household name, and he
- 46:50Speaker 3: committed and announce that he's transferring to Herbert Hoover. So
- 46:54Speaker 3: you have certain situations where you have some kids that
- 46:58Speaker 3: can back it up and then they can obviously a
- 47:01Speaker 3: test to the success that they've had following a post
- 47:05Speaker 3: like that. But at the same time, I'm not agreeing
- 47:07Speaker 3: with it. And as I've said before in a previous column,
- 47:10Speaker 3: you know you can. I'm fine if he transferred. I'm
- 47:14Speaker 3: fine if he transferred, as long as you're doing it
- 47:16Speaker 3: for the right reason. If you're just transferring just to transfer,
- 47:19Speaker 3: you're just transferring just to get a ring. That's not
- 47:22Speaker 3: coaches paying attention to that. I've spoken with several college coaches,
- 47:25Speaker 3: not not just in this time frame, but just throughout
- 47:29Speaker 3: throughout this whole transfer portal. Chaos and loyalty is so
- 47:34Speaker 3: big in college sports. Regardless of what people think, it's
- 47:38Speaker 3: still big, it's still relevant. And when they see these
- 47:42Speaker 3: kids transferring to two or three different schools before this
- 47:45Speaker 3: log got passed recently, they see that they pay attention
- 47:48Speaker 3: to that, and these kids to get they can just
- 47:51Speaker 3: get along and you know it's all fine and dandy. Sorry,
- 47:54Speaker 3: news flash, it's just not going to be able to
- 47:57Speaker 3: cut it whenever you whenever that day does come and
- 48:00Speaker 3: you're thinking, Okay, am I going to get that college scholarship?
- 48:03Speaker 3: Am I going to be able to go play at
- 48:05Speaker 3: this university or play for this coach? Tough luck, because
- 48:08Speaker 3: they do pay attention to that very closely.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Have you gotten any blowback or any feedback from parents
- 48:13Speaker 4: on this, because, I mean, let's face it, I mean,
- 48:15Speaker 4: the kids aren't doing this without I mean, if they're
- 48:18Speaker 4: responsible parents. If this is an issue, mommy or daddy,
- 48:21Speaker 4: your grandparent or somebody's going to go and all right,
- 48:22Speaker 4: take that down. I'm paying the cell phone bill. You
- 48:24Speaker 4: take that down. So some of the parents are obviously
- 48:27Speaker 4: on board with it. I just wonder have you gotten
- 48:29Speaker 4: any any negative feedback from any parents or grandparents?
- 48:33Speaker 3: You know, that's a great question, because I was actually
- 48:36Speaker 3: thinking that yesterday. I started going through the different posts
- 48:39Speaker 3: of people like sharing it and commenting on it and everything.
- 48:42Speaker 3: I'll be surprised. I've only seen one of several thousand
- 48:50Speaker 3: shares or several thousand views, I should say, I just
- 48:53Speaker 3: haven't seen anything so now I'm thinking, Okay, are you
- 48:57Speaker 3: just being a social media like, okay, war you're saying yeah,
- 49:02Speaker 3: I was even the you're going to turn around and
- 49:03Speaker 3: even go to do with your kid, or are you
- 49:05Speaker 3: actually standing firm on two feet and making your own
- 49:08Speaker 3: bed and saying yeah, I agree one hundred percent with
- 49:12Speaker 3: what he's saying. And it's quite frankly that's for them
- 49:16Speaker 3: to decide and the man above. But you know, I don't.
- 49:20Speaker 3: You know, I've been very surprised in the fact that
- 49:21Speaker 3: I have not seen it. I will say this though,
- 49:23Speaker 3: and that's fun. That's a good question you brought up to.
- 49:26Speaker 3: Someone brought this up, and it kind of made me chuckle.
- 49:29Speaker 3: One person said, well, a lot of the parents that
- 49:33Speaker 3: allow this type of behavioral or allow this type of
- 49:36Speaker 3: stuff with their kids, are trying to live out their
- 49:38Speaker 3: own dream they want to see. They want to see
- 49:41Speaker 3: their life through their own kid, instead of the kid
- 49:43Speaker 3: actually living their own life and being able to make
- 49:47Speaker 3: their own decisions. So I thought that was really interesting.
- 49:50Speaker 3: I actually kind of chuck with it, and then it
- 49:51Speaker 3: just goes back to that, I know you're probably the
- 49:53Speaker 3: same way, but you know, I had two parents, I
- 49:56Speaker 3: have two parents I should say that were like, you're
- 49:59Speaker 3: going to do this. You're not quitting, you're not leaving,
- 50:01Speaker 3: you're not doing any of this. That's not who you are,
- 50:03Speaker 3: that's not.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Who we are.
- 50:05Speaker 3: That that was a strict rule. I go all back
- 50:07Speaker 3: to the fifth grade. I say that, saying, it's just
- 50:12Speaker 3: one of those things where you just grew up and
- 50:13Speaker 3: you're just like you were raised. And I know I'm
- 50:15Speaker 3: only twenty six. I found fifty six.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I say this, Hey, hey, there's nothing wrong with being
- 50:19Speaker 2: fifty six.
- 50:20Speaker 3: All right, No, nothing at all, No, not at all.
- 50:22Speaker 4: I'll be fifty six in September. That's why I said, there,
- 50:25Speaker 4: we go ahead.
- 50:26Speaker 3: But it's just one of those things where you just
- 50:28Speaker 3: grew up differently and now something has shifted. And again,
- 50:31Speaker 3: I think it's this whole immediate gratification through social media
- 50:35Speaker 3: that people are latching onto, like bear with honey. So
- 50:39Speaker 3: that's just where I think it's all originating from. But yeah,
- 50:42Speaker 3: some of these parents that are just living their lives
- 50:43Speaker 3: with their kids, that's who means the reality check in
- 50:46Speaker 3: all honesty.
- 50:46Speaker 4: All right, Taylor, I got to leave it there. Let's
- 50:48Speaker 4: go Mount of the Ears. Enjoy your time out in Omaha.
- 50:51Speaker 4: Hope we get a couple of Mountaineer victories and if so,
- 50:54Speaker 4: we'll have you back again real soon.
