- 1:06some of the text. This is a crazy cool.
- 1:08Mini episode. Don't you worry, she will be
- 1:11back in the very near future for a longer conversation.
- 1:16But for now, we are going to get out of fide.
- 1:20I am so excited for this episode.
- 1:23I'm not going to waste any more time.
- 1:24Let's get right into it. You guys ready?
- 1:28I'm ready. Let's go.
- 1:35I have a special returning guest here for our.
- 1:39He's of edification episode. It is an honor to have dr.
- 1:43Lara Sanger back here with us. Thank you so much for being
- 1:46here. Here.
- 1:47Well, thank you for inviting me. It's always great to be with
- 1:50you. Absolutely.
- 1:51I know it's very timely. What we're going to be talking
- 1:55about is such an important topic.
- 1:57Right now, you had brought up identifying and breaking the
- 2:01strongholds, and that's such a relevant thing right now.
- 2:04There's so many Christians that are dealing with bondage and
- 2:08just strongholds in general. Yeah.
- 2:11It's just such an honor to have you in prayer about this and
- 2:15hearing the Holy Spirit and now Here we are recording this
- 2:19edification for the body of Christ.
- 2:22Well, as you say, I just, I'm excited to be able to do this
- 2:25because, you know, I've walked through this in my own life.
- 2:28You know, how to identify strongholds and tear those down,
- 2:31you know, over my thinking of her patterns in my life and, you
- 2:35know, as I was praying about what the Lord had for this
- 2:38episode, this is what he nudged me with.
- 2:41So I pray that it's encouraging for others as well.
- 2:44It's so encouraging for me because so much has been going
- 2:47on behind the scenes with October.
- 2:50Just passing. It was such a dark monkey
- 2:52attacks, and the air was just thick.
- 2:55And a lot of people were praying through that.
- 2:58Why don't you just start us off Laura with what is in your heart
- 3:01to share with us? Yeah, so I think a good place to
- 3:04start is really to understand that iniquity, actually opens
- 3:08the door for strongholds to be established in our life.
- 3:11And I thought I would differentiate between sin and
- 3:13iniquity in case people are unfamiliar with what a Equity
- 3:17is. So essentially iniquity is a
- 3:19pattern of sin and it comes out of this place of having a
- 3:23depraved mind. You know, we think about Sin as
- 3:26missing the mark, right? Well iniquity actually comes
- 3:30from a heart set on evil ambition, another way.
- 3:34I like to describe it is, you know, if you think about Sin
- 3:37like this strand of yarn, well, iniquity is strand upon strand
- 3:43woven together to form this thick cord.
- 3:46And I'll give some examples of iniquity.
- 3:49Now, certainly, this isn't an exhaustive list, but this will
- 3:52give people an idea of what I'm talking about.
- 3:55So iniquity would be, you know, any sort of addiction we might
- 3:59have sexual addictions, drug addictions, alcohol addictions.
- 4:03You know, when there's violence involved in relationships, so
- 4:06domestic violence. Abuse of children, elder abuse,
- 4:11certainly adultery lawlessness, even deceptive, business
- 4:15practices, You know can be a form of iniquity and then also,
- 4:20you know, any sort of sexual perversion idolatry, broken
- 4:25covenants and even Bloodshed. Those are all examples of
- 4:29iniquity. So if these things happen, if
- 4:31these things are committed, you know, in a community for example
- 4:35what can happen is that can open a door for the enemy to really
- 4:40gain a foothold in a particular territory and if that foothold
- 4:45is not dealt with. So if those Iniquities are not
- 4:48dealt with through repentance. Then what happens is that
- 4:51foothold can become a stronghold.
- 4:53And so I want to describe what a stronghold is and kind of look
- 4:57at some of the definition and Hebrew the Hebrew word for
- 5:02stronghold because that will give us a greater understanding
- 5:04of what this is. So essentially, you know what a
- 5:08stronghold does? Is it forms this net that in
- 5:12traps people and the Hebrew word for stronghold is?
- 5:16Sued, and it means a net. It means to capture Castle
- 5:21Defense, Fortress to be hunted, a snare and a strong place.
- 5:27And it actually comes from the root word sued, which means to
- 5:30lie in, wait, to chase, to take provision.
- 5:35And what's interesting about this route where it is.
- 5:37There's actually a figurative. Meaning that actually describes
- 5:40someone who lies in wait to catch a human as in human
- 5:45trafficking. And so it's used to describe
- 5:48someone who entraps another person with the intent, to
- 5:52exploit for personal gain. Now, another way to think about
- 5:57a stronghold is if you think about like a fortified City for
- 6:00example, and if we think about Jericho, you know, Jericho had
- 6:04this impenetrable wall, that really controlled the flow of
- 6:08who came and went in the city. And, you know, these
- 6:12principalities rulers Powers, you know, spiritual forces of -
- 6:17they look for ways to establish strongholds, because what they
- 6:21want to do is they want to take our territory and they want to
- 6:24enslave us and lock us up and chains.
- 6:28So, we have to understand that strongholds are strengthened by
- 6:32individual by corporate and then generational iniquity.
- 6:36So, one of the things that I don't think many people
- 6:40understand, is that there, there can both be strong holds over
- 6:44city-states regions and Nations. Ins, but also strongholds over
- 6:49our minds. And so, the strongholds that are
- 6:52over territories, literally affect the people living there,
- 6:56and so people can develop strongholds in their thinking
- 6:59that's directly connected to the strongholds of the region 1.
- 7:03So, that's really an important thing because you might, like,
- 7:06you might move somewhere and not understand that there's a strong
- 7:10hold over that region. And you come under that and all
- 7:13of a sudden, it begins affecting your thoughts, your Hey, viewers
- 7:17your relationships and I want to give just some biblical example
- 7:22of this if people can understand where this comes from.
- 7:25And if we think about, when Moses sent the twelve spies into
- 7:28the land of Canaan, the ten spies came back with a report
- 7:32that was filled with fear. And this is from numbers 13,
- 7:36verse 28, they said, but the people who live, there are
- 7:39powerful and the cities are fortified in very large, we even
- 7:43saw descendants of anak there. What's Happening Here?
- 7:46Here is these ten spies. They were filled with fear and
- 7:50intimidation when they went on to the land of Canaan and that
- 7:53actually was the pervading attitude of the Canaanites.
- 7:57So the Canaanites had stewarded their land in such a way that
- 8:00strongholds were established a fear and intimidation.
- 8:03So when people came onto their land, they were filled with that
- 8:07fear and intimidation and that's what affected the report that
- 8:11the ten spies gave to the Israelites.
- 8:15Now, Joshua and Caleb. If on the other hand, they were
- 8:18not swayed by the stronghold over the land of Canaan.
- 8:21We're able to see the situation Through The Eyes of the Lord,
- 8:25and that's what allowed Caleb to be able to say a numbers 1330.
- 8:29We should go up and take possession of the land for we
- 8:31can, certainly do it. Caleb and Joshua.
- 8:34They were taking every thought captive, and making it obedient
- 8:38to Christ. Because they did not come under
- 8:49that. Strong hold over the territory,
- 8:52which I think is so beautiful. Now, another definition of a
- 8:57stronghold that that might help us is one that's given by an
- 9:01author. His name is Tom white and he
- 9:03wrote a Believers guide to spiritual warfare.
- 9:07And what he says a stronghold is as he says, it's an entrenched
- 9:10pattern of thought ideology or behavior.
- 9:14That's contrary to the will of God.
- 9:16And so Here's where it emphasizes, you know, that a
- 9:19stronghold can be developed in our thinking.
- 9:22And this is what I really want to focus on today, not so much
- 9:24the strongholds over territories, but the
- 9:27strongholds, that can be over our mind because we should never
- 9:31underestimate the power of our thinking and I alluded to this
- 9:35passage just a minute ago, but I love 2nd Corinthians, 10 verses
- 9:393 through 5, which says, for though, we live in the world, we
- 9:42do not wage war as the world does the weapons.
- 9:45We fight with are not the weapons.
- 9:47Weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have
- 9:50divine power to demolish strongholds.
- 9:53We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
- 9:57against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every
- 10:01thought to make it obedient to Christ.
- 10:11Well, when you take that passage and then you consider
- 10:14epigenetics. So what we know from epigenetics
- 10:17is that our behavior and our lifestyle choices, actually
- 10:21affect our body Soul and Spirit, as well as our future
- 10:25Generations. So for those that aren't as
- 10:28familiar with epigenetics the prefix Epi it means on top of.
- 10:33So essentially epigenetics is a set of instructions that sits on
- 10:38top of the human genome. Then there's also Also, this
- 10:41thing's called epigenetic marks which act like switches that can
- 10:45turn on or off or genes so it can alter our genetic
- 10:48expression. Now, one of the books that I
- 10:51absolutely love reading and trying to understand epigenetics
- 10:56is a Book By dr. Carolyn Leaf and it's called
- 10:58switch on your brain and she explains it this way.
- 11:01She says the sins of parents, create a predisposition, not a
- 11:05destiny. So our choices.
- 11:08Again those are epigenetic signals are Choices can alter
- 11:12the expression of genes which is epigenetic markers and that can
- 11:17then be passed on to our children and grandchildren,
- 11:19ready to predisposition predispose them before they're
- 11:23even conceived. So essentially our bad choices,
- 11:26become their bad predispositions.
- 11:29Well, the beautiful thing about this passage in second
- 11:32Corinthians 10 is Paul understands the power of our
- 11:35thinking and that's why he encouraged us to take every
- 11:39thought captive and make Make sure that it aligns with the
- 11:42mind of Christ because our thoughts literally can alter our
- 11:46genetic expression and then that makes us susceptible to disease
- 11:50and illness. So when we think about it in
- 11:53light of that, you know, it's really critical to our
- 11:57well-being that we perceive and interpret reality through the
- 12:00mind of Christ also with the direction of the Holy Spirit.
- 12:03Otherwise you know, we're really just acceptable to our thinking
- 12:07becoming influenced by, you know, culture or even And
- 12:11religious traditions. And then those strongholds that
- 12:15go unchecked. They actually can become
- 12:17hereditary factors that will alter generations to come.
- 12:22And this is where generational iniquity ties into strongholds.
- 12:27And this is really what I want to hone in on, because I think
- 12:30so many of us have those generational iniquities that run
- 12:35in our family line. And, you know, we come under
- 12:38that same type of thinking, or Mayors as what our parents did
- 12:43or a grandparents and so forth. And so I want to share examples
- 12:47of how first of all, we can identify this but then how we
- 12:50can break free from it. And the best biblical example,
- 12:55that I have found is actually in the Book of Esther.
- 12:58And so for those that aren't familiar Haman, was one of the
- 13:04bad guys in the book, pastor and he developed this deep-seated
- 13:10hatred, For Mordecai and Mordecai was the cousin of
- 13:13Esther. And he raised Esther because
- 13:16Esther was orphaned as a child, well Haman hated Mordecai and on
- 13:22the surface. You know, it seemed that this
- 13:25hatred was because Mordecai refused to Bow before Haman
- 13:29Haman rode through the streets of Persia on a on a horse.
- 13:34And everyone was to Bow before him but Mordecai, refuse to do
- 13:38that. And so, you know, you think from
- 13:39the story that that's By Haman hates Mordecai so much, but it
- 13:45actually runs much deeper than that and this is where the
- 13:48concept of generational iniquity ties in.
- 13:51So Haman was an agagite and Mordecai was from The Tribe of
- 13:56Benjamin. So let me describe the agagite.
- 13:59It's essentially they come from King agag, who was king of the
- 14:04amalekites during the reign of Saul.
- 14:07Now the amalekites come from amalek and ammo.
- 14:11Like was the grandson of Esau, so, I'll tie all this together.
- 14:15So Esau had a son named Aaliyah, Faz, and Ilya Faz had a whore,
- 14:19right? Concubine name timna, and timna,
- 14:22borrelia phases, son, and they named him amalek.
- 14:26Well, what's interesting about this is the horites are actually
- 14:29listed in Genesis 14 among a tribe of giants, but it's not
- 14:34thought that they themselves were a tribe of giants, but more
- 14:37that they intermingled with the Giants, meaning they interbred
- 14:41So they were spreading the hybrid Race.
- 14:43So when you think about that with amalek having you know his
- 14:48mother, being a whore eight, it's possible that he had the
- 14:51Nephilim genes within him. And one thing we know for sure
- 14:56is that amalek inherited. The deep-seated hatred, that
- 14:59Esau had towards Jacob. And, you know, throughout the
- 15:03generations, what happened is the descendants of Esau and the
- 15:07descendants of Jacob that hatred that was Between them, The
- 15:12Strife really intensified throughout the generations and
- 15:15it made the amalekites one of Israel's worst enemies.
- 15:19So then you fast forward years later and God commanded
- 15:23kingsalt, utterly destroy the amalekites and this is in 1st
- 15:27Samuel, 15 verse 3, he says, now go and attack amalek and utterly
- 15:32destroy all that they have and do not spare them, but kill both
- 15:36man and women infant and nursing child, oxen sheep, camel, and
- 15:39Donkey If we consider some of these phrases in this passage
- 15:44the the Hebrew phrase for utterly destroy is the word
- 15:49haram and not only does it mean to completely destroy, but it
- 15:53means to exterminate or devote for Destruction.
- 15:57And I've always kind of wondered about this like why, why would
- 16:00God have Saul kill the infant and nursing child?
- 16:04Like what did they do? You know, but when we understand
- 16:07that it was tied to the fact that there is the mixing of
- 16:10species It makes sense. So Haram essentially was this
- 16:14term that denoted yahweh's absolute disdain for particular
- 16:19acts of sin. Most of which were the mixing of
- 16:22species as I mentioned and so when he commanded Haram, he was
- 16:27calling for punishment by total Annihilation.
- 16:31And that was because there was that that mixing of species so
- 16:35when God commanded Saul to Haram the amalekites, it most likely
- 16:39was for two reasons, you know. So when they were merciless in
- 16:42their attack of Israel as they came out of Egypt, but then also
- 16:46they were defiling the human genome by interbreeding with the
- 16:49Giants. So, here's where it becomes
- 16:51really interesting and all ties together.
- 16:53So Saul was from The Tribe of Benjamin like Mordecai.
- 16:58Now, there's two things to note about Saul one is that as father
- 17:01Kish was known as a Gabor and the second is that saw was Head
- 17:06and Shoulders taller than and anyone else.
- 17:09So the Hebrew word gibor? It means mighty one and it's
- 17:13often used to describe Giants in scripture.
- 17:17So, here, we have a clue in Scripture that Saul's DNA had.
- 17:22The genetic mutation of the hybrids.
- 17:24He essentially had the Nephilim jeans.
- 17:27Now, I go into much more detail on this, in my book, the roots
- 17:30of the Federal Reserve, but what God was doing here, when he
- 17:34commanded Saul to annihilate, the amalekites as he was testing
- 17:38Saul he was testing him, would he?
- 17:41Aligned with the seed of Eve, or would he aligned with the seat
- 17:45of Satan? And we find out from first
- 17:48Samuel 15 that he decided to preserve King a gags life rather
- 17:54than completely annihilating the amalekites.
- 17:57So essentially Saul chose to align with the seat of Satan.
- 18:01And what's interesting is Josephus who is a Jewish
- 18:05historian, he tells us why Saul did this.
- 18:08He said he also took a gag. The Skin captive, the beauty and
- 18:13tallness of whose body he admired so much that he thought
- 18:17him, worthy of preservation giving way to human passions.
- 18:22He preferred the fine appearance of the enemy to the memory of
- 18:26what God had sent him about. So here what we see is Saul?
- 18:30He did not walk in the fear of the Lord.
- 18:33He walked in the fear of man and he gave in to the whims of his
- 18:37fancy, you know, by preserving King agag has life and Other
- 18:41words what Saul did is he preserves someone with a defiled
- 18:45genome and here's where we learned.
- 18:47Just this really important concept about generational
- 18:51iniquity that which we don't deal with.
- 18:54As a seed will have to deal with as a tree.
- 18:58So because Saul did not completely annihilate the
- 19:01amalekites, you know, by preserving King a gags, life,
- 19:05King agag seed lived on. So back to the story of a Esther
- 19:11Haman was a descendant of a gag. Oh my gosh.
- 19:15So when Saul chose to walk in Disobedience to what the Lord
- 19:19had commanded him to do Generations, later, Esther and
- 19:24Mordecai had to deal with Haman now in the story of Esther
- 19:30Haman. Convince King, Xerxes.
- 19:32You know, that to issue this death, decree over the Jews and
- 19:36they were supposed to be slaughtered on the 13th day of
- 19:39Adar well. In this death decree was issued,
- 19:42of course. Esther was faced with a choice,
- 19:44you know, which she would she give in to fear or which you
- 19:48rise to the occasion and Mordecai?
- 19:50Made her her choice. Very clear.
- 19:52And this is an ester 14, or excuse me, Esther 4 verses 13
- 19:57through 14. It says do not think that
- 20:00because you are in the King's house you alone of all the Jews
- 20:04will escape for. If he remains silent at this
- 20:07time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from.
- 20:11Another place, but you and your father's family will perish and
- 20:15who knows? But that you have come to your
- 20:17Royal position for such a time as this.
- 20:20So here Esther, you know, she was faced with this Choice, was
- 20:23she going to seize the opportunity moment that God had
- 20:26positioned her for, or was she going to give into fear of man,
- 20:30and it really, you know, when you think about it, it was no
- 20:32small decision because in that culture to go Uninvited before
- 20:37the king meant certain death, but Esther Was willing to risk
- 20:42her life to be that pathway of Deliverance for her people.
- 20:46And so she, she literally confronted haman's plot in front
- 20:50of King, Xerxes. And when she did that, the king
- 20:53ordered Haman to hang on the very Gallows that he had
- 20:57prepared for Mordecai. And I absolutely love this story
- 21:01because it's a story of complete turnaround.
- 21:04So not only, you know, did Haman hang on his own Gallows, but
- 21:09haman's position. The Royal Court was given to
- 21:12Mordecai as was his estate and then the Jews were allowed to
- 21:17defend themselves on the 13th day of Adar.
- 21:20So anyone that attacked them, they were able to defeat them
- 21:23and actually capture their wealth.
- 21:26And so, when you think about the big picture, what Heyman meant
- 21:30for, you know, the destruction of the Jewish people actually
- 21:33led to Triumph and prosperity and it was retribution for the
- 21:38years, the amalekites had plundered.
- 21:41Israel. So the beautiful thing about
- 21:43this story is that Mordecai and Esther.
- 21:46They were able to break that generational iniquity off The
- 21:50Tribe of Benjamin. That had been committed by Saul,
- 21:55you know, Saul as a benjamite, he walked in the fear of man,
- 21:59and he honored King agag above God, but Mordecai fear walked in
- 22:05the fear of the Lord and he refused to Bow and honor Haman.
- 22:11We're God. And so what happened is,
- 22:14mordecai by walking in the opposite Spirit.
- 22:17He was able to break off that generational iniquity tear down
- 22:21that stronghold. That was in the thinking Over
- 22:23The Tribe of Benjamin and he cleanse the bloodline.
- 22:28And so I want to give people just Five Points of how you can
- 22:33break free from generational iniquity first.
- 22:37We want to confess you know, we want to confess the ways that we
- 22:41Has perpetuated the generational iniquity and then second we want
- 22:45to renounce it. Which means, you know, we
- 22:48declare that we will no longer lay claim to this iniquity.
- 22:52The third thing we do is we need to repent.
- 22:56Repent. Not only for ourselves, but on
- 22:58behalf of those in our family line that have opened the door
- 23:01to this iniquity and this is called identification already
- 23:05Penton sand. It's actually modeled for us by
- 23:08Daniel in, Daniel chapter 9. People that want to understand
- 23:12that more. And then the fourth thing is, if
- 23:15that generational iniquity has opened the door to demonic
- 23:18oppression, then we need, deliverance, we need to be set
- 23:21free from demonic oppression and break that generational
- 23:26iniquity. And then lastly, we want to be
- 23:29able to walk in the opposite Spirit.
- 23:31Yeah, so in a nutshell that's how we can identify and tear
- 23:35down strongholds in her life. I'm sitting here thinking why?
- 23:40Why is the church at large? Not going through this
- 23:44systematically? And the way you tied it
- 23:46together. There's so many things that came
- 23:48to mind when you were talking about the area being under like,
- 23:52the stronghold in the bondage. What I wrote down was the people
- 23:56rejoice when righteous rulers are in charge, but the people
- 24:01mourn when the wicked Rule. And then, when you started to
- 24:04talk about the individual, our mindsets as, as an individual
- 24:09person, what was coming up Up in my heart was a small
- 24:12Disobedience leads to these large problems over time.
- 24:16Yes. Then wisdom comes with the fear
- 24:19of God and we can see Mordecai. He had the wisdom to fear God
- 24:24and when everything looked like, it was going to fall apart and
- 24:28not work. His trust and faith in God,
- 24:32preserved him. And I believe Esther, at one
- 24:36point she was told before she was a, it was mentioned that she
- 24:40was placed in the palace for a Time such as this that God would
- 24:44find another if she would not choose.
- 24:46Yes, and it just reminds me of like God always has a back-up
- 24:51plan. Like he is on the throne and
- 24:53this life is like a voting booth, choices are decisions.
- 24:56And the way you broke down the generational iniquity and the
- 24:59Markers that get passed on these strongholds that so many people
- 25:03are wondering, why am I praying? Why my fasting?
- 25:06Why am I calling out to God? But I'm still being attacked the
- 25:09church needs to deal with these topics.
- 25:11So it is an honor to be able to have you here to edify me
- 25:15personally but just to bring up. That's so the listeners
- 25:20understand originally, I had asked Laura to talk about the
- 25:24armor of God for this, he's of edification episode and, and we
- 25:28agreed and Few weeks later, she text me and said, hey I being
- 25:33nudged here by the Holy Spirit and he told me what you wanted
- 25:35to talk about and I literally I said yes, and yes you did.
- 25:43I responded at one point. I said I want to weep a
- 25:46combination of joy and fear a mystery unfolding in these
- 25:50terrible times and your response.
- 25:51You said, these are both the worst of times and the best of
- 25:55times. We were born for such a time as
- 25:58this. Amen.
- 26:00It's one of those things that like, everything, leading up to
- 26:03that just ramped up. I personally got sick.
- 26:06My mind was under attack through the end of October here and I
- 26:10was spending time with God. Just going forward.
- 26:13Why? What is going on?
- 26:15Like, I know that Desiring. The Peace of the Lord.
- 26:20I know that nothing can remove me from his hand.
- 26:23But God, why do I feel like things Flying overhead or just
- 26:27allowed to drop bombs on me from time to time and it's just so
- 26:32important personally for me, Laura, and I know that just
- 26:35based upon the dialect, I have with local people here in
- 26:40Southeastern Pennsylvania, this message.
- 26:42It is imperative for the body of Christ to hear this.
- 26:46And then for pastors to just walk in the fear of the Lord
- 26:50Show Yourself approved through fear and trembling working out
- 26:54your salvation with God, that we would The scripture says, be
- 26:57able to tie this together. We should be on the front line,
- 27:01the body of Christ. We should be on The Cutting Edge
- 27:03of encouraging each other and going into these topics long.
- 27:08It is an honor. Thank you so much.
- 27:10You've a defied me. I know you're going to edify the
- 27:12listeners. Oh good.
