- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome moms. Welcome to Inside the Mom's Cup.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm your host, Monica Samuels, and I'm here with my
- 0:07Speaker 2: lovely co host, Julie Orchid.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Well, hello, Julie.
- 0:11Speaker 3: I mean, it's been a few months.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Missed you.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I've missed you too, and I know you missed me,
- 0:17Speaker 2: especially when we arrived here in La I made the
- 0:20Speaker 2: wise decision this time of putting Julie as an official
- 0:24Speaker 2: driver on my rental car.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Very wise move.
- 0:26Speaker 2: But I'm still required to drive it out of the lot.
- 0:30Speaker 4: So I drove us to the hotel, which was was terrifying.
- 0:33Speaker 1: They thought I had.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Like scotten onto the Universal Studios amusement parks right or something.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I mean, note, we're only two miles in the airport.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I know it was I even I think it was
- 0:46Speaker 2: harrowing myself. But she's not a great navigator because see
- 0:50Speaker 2: she told me to make a right hand turn and
- 0:52Speaker 2: there was no right hand turn right, so I turned
- 0:55Speaker 2: into almost hit a building at Warner Brothers Studios.
- 0:58Speaker 4: So you basically are fired from any type of you know, driving,
- 1:02Speaker 4: not much of a driver.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Yeah, not happening, but I did.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It's the hotel and in that hair that like crazy
- 1:07Speaker 2: hairprint turn I made at the last minute. I got
- 1:09Speaker 2: in there.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you overshot that turn and we were also.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And I still made it.
- 1:13Speaker 3: We did, and so we made it.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So here we are. But now Juli, he's behind the wheel.
- 1:17Speaker 1: So that's all good.
- 1:18Speaker 2: And we're so excited to be here because we love
- 1:21Speaker 2: being in Los Angeles because.
- 1:23Speaker 4: It's super special, like we learn a lot, we get
- 1:26Speaker 4: to see a lot, and the.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Movies, the movie I am a huge movie nerd, as
- 1:32Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I love, especially love really old movies. Yeah, I'm well, I.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Would say it, just say it, just say who you love.
- 1:42Speaker 2: My favorite actress is Olivia to have aland look it
- 1:45Speaker 2: up for those moms.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Who were I to do that?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but she went to Academy Awards and so I
- 1:51Speaker 2: love all of that. I just love I love writing,
- 1:54Speaker 2: I love acting, I love well.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I love being here because my daughter moved here few
- 2:00Speaker 4: months ago and I get to see her a lot
- 2:03Speaker 4: more and support her and her exciting adventures.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, she wants to be an actress. Yeah, And I
- 2:10Speaker 2: just wrote a script with with the woman I wrote
- 2:13Speaker 2: the book with, so I was working on that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh, so very excited.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You've always had to be an actress. Right, yeah, well, yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 3: I've had that.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I mean it was pretty good at that, you know.
- 2:23Speaker 2: But but I like writing especially, so years ago I
- 2:27Speaker 2: started a screenplay and I called my cousin who started
- 2:31Speaker 2: the New Hope Film Festival in New Hope, Pennsylvania. And
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know what, big rule followers, we are at our house.
- 2:37Speaker 2: My whole family, like runs in the family. So I
- 2:40Speaker 2: called him for advice and he gave me the advice
- 2:42Speaker 2: and then he said, you know, Monica, I have to
- 2:44Speaker 2: tell you, though, there are strict rules about the entry
- 2:48Speaker 2: into the contest for screenwriting for my film festival. So
- 2:50Speaker 2: I cannot give you, if that's what you're asking for,
- 2:53Speaker 2: some kind of upper hand. And like, no, I wasn't.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I didn't even written a word yet, so I was
- 2:58Speaker 2: hardly asking for that. But I do appreciate by his
- 3:01Speaker 2: experience how tough it is.
- 3:04Speaker 1: He said that film festival.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Has been going for fifteen years, and people from all
- 3:07Speaker 2: over New York City come.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Well, this is what I have about these upcoming film
- 3:11Speaker 4: writers stars, is that it's extremely difficult and to put
- 3:16Speaker 4: yourself out there and to do it is really brave.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It's amazing. As we said here on the mom's.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Caub which is why we are.
- 3:23Speaker 2: So excited today that we have the other daughter duo
- 3:29Speaker 2: that someday, America, you're going to be saying in the
- 3:31Speaker 2: same breath after you've mentioned Goldie Han and Kate Hudson,
- 3:34Speaker 2: their names are going to come to mind because they
- 3:38Speaker 2: are tremendous and they have founded a film festival. Well,
- 3:41Speaker 2: we're from Austin, Texas, so it's near our hometown and
- 3:45Speaker 2: it's a beautiful place called Roundtop, Texas. If you've never
- 3:48Speaker 2: heard of it, you definitely know it for years. Go
- 3:52Speaker 2: see it because it is incredible, and they have a
- 3:54Speaker 2: new film festival there.
- 3:55Speaker 1: They started it last year, the.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Roundtop Film Festival. So we want to welcome Shanna, the
- 4:01Speaker 2: mom who is the co founder, has a lifelong connection
- 4:05Speaker 2: to round Top, originally hailing from Lagrange nearby, and she
- 4:09Speaker 2: started it with a commitment of philanthropic and artistic endeavors
- 4:13Speaker 2: which inspired her to start the film festivalong with her
- 4:16Speaker 2: daughter Skyler Nice, who is a screenwriter and filmmaker with
- 4:20Speaker 2: credits for short films called Angel and Pretty Boy, and
- 4:23Speaker 2: she's got an upcoming short called Call of the Void,
- 4:27Speaker 2: and together they have a desire to expand the cultural
- 4:30Speaker 2: offerings within the exciting Roundtop community. Please welcome to the
- 4:35Speaker 2: Mom's Club, Shanna and Skuyler Shannon, Please welcome, ladies.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Hi. Hey, I'm so happy to be here. Thank you
- 4:44Speaker 6: for having us.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Hi, how are you today?
- 4:49Speaker 5: Great? Happy to be here.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm so happy that you're here. We are so excited because,
- 4:55Speaker 2: as I mentioned, Julie and I know round Top really
- 4:58Speaker 2: really well, have been there so many times. We make
- 5:02Speaker 2: it a point to go twice a year. They have
- 5:04Speaker 2: their antique, their market festival there that interior designers from
- 5:10Speaker 2: all over the world.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I mean, it's an event.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Well, I'm sorry I don't have my boots on today
- 5:15Speaker 4: and my hat because I couldn't carry it.
- 5:17Speaker 3: All, but I would be. But I am.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Super thrilled because we actually have been I've been going
- 5:23Speaker 4: for I do mean twenty two years, so I first
- 5:26Speaker 4: started taking the baby buggy and going in and it's
- 5:30Speaker 4: so it's really special because we're from Austin, Texas, so
- 5:32Speaker 4: we are thrilled to talk about today at a festival.
- 5:36Speaker 2: I've loved how round Top has grown and developed and
- 5:39Speaker 2: it's really just more recently really gotten on the map
- 5:43Speaker 2: in so many ways. And what I specially love about
- 5:46Speaker 2: the community is when you arrived there.
- 5:49Speaker 6: They're just certain.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You just sort of adopt the.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Culture of the place and suddenly, like Julie's saying, you've
- 5:55Speaker 2: got your fancy boots. I went to Chemo Sabby and
- 5:58Speaker 2: got my hat made. I mean, now I feel like
- 6:00Speaker 2: every time I driving to a round top, I gotta
- 6:02Speaker 2: get a new fancy.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Some of the nice cowboy hat. You wear, cool dresses.
- 6:07Speaker 2: The women are gorgeous and they're dressed really great, and
- 6:10Speaker 2: I mean, it's a it's an incredible community. If you
- 6:12Speaker 2: haven't been there now, I will give you a little
- 6:14Speaker 2: heads up for those who want to go to the
- 6:16Speaker 2: antique festival in the market. It's popular and so you
- 6:20Speaker 2: got to make your plans well in advance to sure.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I mean, it's well off the chain. What you have
- 6:26Speaker 4: to do to get into that place, it can be.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And you know what, with this film festival, the way
- 6:30Speaker 2: it's gonna take off, I'm absolutely positive it's gonna be
- 6:33Speaker 2: the same thing. This year's festival is November sixth to
- 6:36Speaker 2: the ninth, so you're you're gonna hear more about it
- 6:39Speaker 2: is the show goes on. But I know you're gonna
- 6:41Speaker 2: want to go because it is going to be.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Very very popular pretty soon.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You're gonna have well, it's have a hard time getting in.
- 6:50Speaker 2: How just Shanna, how do you sign up to to attend?
- 6:55Speaker 2: What where do people find the link? And how do
- 6:58Speaker 2: they because that's that's right around on the corner.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Yeah it is. We are in it too and win it.
- 7:04Speaker 6: We are in the thick of it. So we just
- 7:07Speaker 6: pulled off our last one last year and we're in
- 7:10Speaker 6: our second year. So this is the second year festival.
- 7:14Speaker 6: It's going to be November sixth through the ninth. As
- 7:16Speaker 6: you said, you can go on www Dot round top
- 7:21Speaker 6: dot org to purchase your passes and right now we're
- 7:25Speaker 6: still an early bird special, so you can get your
- 7:29Speaker 6: passes at a little bit of a discount rate and
- 7:31Speaker 6: that will be going up soon, so love you to
- 7:34Speaker 6: purchase them early and have a little break in the price. Okay, great,
- 7:39Speaker 6: we're super excited about it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Well, tell us how it all started?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Where did where did the idea come from? And how
- 7:44Speaker 2: did you get it going? Because like I said, I
- 7:46Speaker 2: have a relative who did this, and I know it's
- 7:48Speaker 2: not easy to get one going.
- 7:51Speaker 6: Right, So Fata and I really just had an idea,
- 7:58Speaker 6: and I really wanted to get something back to the community.
- 8:01Speaker 6: We were trying to think, how can we add to
- 8:03Speaker 6: this already beautiful cultural town, what can we bring to it?
- 8:08Speaker 6: And it seemed a natural fit with Skylar's passion for film,
- 8:13Speaker 6: her involvement, and you know in films that she was
- 8:16Speaker 6: young from screenwriting to acting and all of the things,
- 8:20Speaker 6: and so it it just we married those two ideas
- 8:24Speaker 6: together of giving back, and that's kind of how it
- 8:27Speaker 6: came about. Skyler. Do you have anything to add to that.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, we've been talking about wanting to do
- 8:35Speaker 5: something in Roundtop for a while, and I remember when
- 8:39Speaker 5: I was little, We're like, maybe we'll open a soda
- 8:41Speaker 5: pop shop or something fun. And then I got super
- 8:46Speaker 5: involved in film and moved around a lot and finally
- 8:50Speaker 5: moved back to Austin, And so we were talking about
- 8:53Speaker 5: it on the screen in fort one night just that
- 8:55Speaker 5: we were shocked that a film festival hasn't started yet
- 8:58Speaker 5: in Roundtop and we were like, oh my gosh, we
- 9:01Speaker 5: should do this. Yeah, and then it was kismet how
- 9:05Speaker 5: everybody fell together and.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean in twenty twenty four is kind
- 9:11Speaker 6: of when we kicked it off in January, and I think,
- 9:14Speaker 6: you know, maybe starting October twenty twenty three. I was
- 9:18Speaker 6: kind of tossing around the idea to the locals in town.
- 9:21Speaker 6: I'm like, what do you think if we bring a
- 9:23Speaker 6: film festival? And they were like, oh my gosh. I mean,
- 9:28Speaker 6: everybody was on board. It was so supportive. There weren't
- 9:32Speaker 6: those roadblocks, and doors just kept opening and opening. So
- 9:38Speaker 6: it's been such a wonderful experience. I mean, we couldn't
- 9:41Speaker 6: have been more welcomed and just the stars aligned. So
- 9:47Speaker 6: we're super happy.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Well, I'm going to say that I have read a
- 9:51Speaker 4: lot about this film festival and I'm super excited for it.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I hope that we can get down the road to it.
- 9:57Speaker 4: But I read that it was such a success that
- 10:00Speaker 4: this year is going to be bigger and better. So
- 10:02Speaker 4: what is going to be a little bit different that
- 10:04Speaker 4: you learn from the first time that you're going to
- 10:07Speaker 4: bring to Roundtop?
- 10:09Speaker 6: You know, you learn a lot in the first year
- 10:12Speaker 6: of planning, and I think that everything went off without
- 10:17Speaker 6: a hitch pretty much for a first year festival. So
- 10:19Speaker 6: we're going to kind of stick with the same template.
- 10:23Speaker 6: We don't want to grow too much. We want to
- 10:25Speaker 6: fill the house. We want to fill the theaters and
- 10:27Speaker 6: bring the people to town, so we're going to go
- 10:31Speaker 6: with that. As far as additions, though, we were going
- 10:33Speaker 6: to add a tribute ceremony which we didn't have last year,
- 10:37Speaker 6: where we honor people in the film industry, so it
- 10:41Speaker 6: be an actor, a director, screenwriter, so we'll have a
- 10:45Speaker 6: special ceremony for them, just honoring their craft. Some other
- 10:50Speaker 6: things that are exciting are the Rising Star Showcase which
- 10:54Speaker 6: we had last year. We're bringing that back and Skyler,
- 10:58Speaker 6: do you want to tell a little bit about what's
- 10:59Speaker 6: happening with their rising stars from last year?
- 11:05Speaker 5: Yeah, our Rising Stars from last year was so great.
- 11:08Speaker 5: We had so many good ones. Lily Kay, Maria botha,
- 11:13Speaker 5: Sasha Lane and we all we weren't sure we knew
- 11:18Speaker 5: that Roundtop would make people want to come back, but
- 11:21Speaker 5: we got such good feedback. They all want to come
- 11:23Speaker 5: back this year, which is great. And yeah, they wanted
- 11:27Speaker 5: to hang out and Roundtop so that was really good feedback.
- 11:32Speaker 6: So yeah, and they were doing new things. It's exciting.
- 11:36Speaker 6: Lily Kay is now on Stick, so it's been fun
- 11:39Speaker 6: to watch her.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's always nice to see where they go and
- 11:42Speaker 3: what they do.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Act for us and say we're super excited. But all
- 11:48Speaker 6: of those you know, little intros were so wonderful, and
- 11:52Speaker 6: we made such good connections. And I feel like in
- 11:56Speaker 6: Roundtop because it is such a unique spot. Everything was
- 12:00Speaker 6: centrally located. The networking was so good. Everybody feels comfortable
- 12:06Speaker 6: and you do get in the vibe of the of
- 12:09Speaker 6: the town and you know, you get into the two
- 12:12Speaker 6: stepping and the big pots and moots. So there's just
- 12:16Speaker 6: a connection and a bonding thing that happens. So super cool.
- 12:21Speaker 4: I mean, I see that you close just recently all
- 12:24Speaker 4: the submissions for this film festival.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I mean, what was that yesterday?
- 12:28Speaker 6: Maybe?
- 12:29Speaker 5: Yes?
- 12:30Speaker 4: So you guys have quite the you know ahead of
- 12:33Speaker 4: you next few months ahead of you.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So how does that process work?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Where who you're going to submit or you know what
- 12:39Speaker 4: I mean, tell me a little bit about is it
- 12:40Speaker 4: a panel or how do you pick?
- 12:44Speaker 6: So we closed film submissions yesterday and that goes through
- 12:48Speaker 6: film Freeway. We were so fortunate this year for a
- 12:52Speaker 6: second year festival to get as many submissions as we did.
- 12:56Speaker 6: We were overwhelmed and thrilled. So that was super excited
- 13:00Speaker 6: and so now we have to sort through them. All
- 13:02Speaker 6: and then we have a screenwriting kind of not screenwriting,
- 13:07Speaker 6: I'm sorry, a selection committee for the films, and so
- 13:12Speaker 6: they're all watching them, Mickey and Dustovitch. Our programming director
- 13:17Speaker 6: kind of you know, releases some just several different viewers
- 13:23Speaker 6: and then they give their feedback and then he curates
- 13:26Speaker 6: the program that speaks to our audience. And so last
- 13:32Speaker 6: year he did a phenomenal job. We got a lot
- 13:35Speaker 6: of great feedback on the films that were selected, and
- 13:38Speaker 6: so we're looking forward to see what we come up
- 13:40Speaker 6: with this year.
- 13:41Speaker 2: No, that's great, and I imagine there's very strict protocols
- 13:46Speaker 2: and rules. Is that kind of consistent with all film festivals?
- 13:49Speaker 2: So in other words, if your cousin calls you and
- 13:51Speaker 2: says that she's got a screenplay, she's not getting treatment.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Yeah, have to go through yeah handles.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Yeah, we kind of sent it off. We learned our
- 14:06Speaker 6: lesson last year. We're like, oh, we have a friend
- 14:08Speaker 6: and they're like no, no, no, this isn't the way it works. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 6: you know, we have to take this seriously and go
- 14:15Speaker 6: through each film and curate the best program. So it's
- 14:18Speaker 6: unfortunate is there are a lot of great films and
- 14:21Speaker 6: sometimes I mean, may have twenty films, but you only
- 14:25Speaker 6: have slots that are excellent. Twenty excellent films, but you
- 14:28Speaker 6: only have slots for ten of them.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Oh that's tough.
- 14:30Speaker 6: That's the hard part.
- 14:33Speaker 5: And we are an international film festival too, so we're
- 14:37Speaker 5: bringing films in from all around the world, which is
- 14:39Speaker 5: really exciting, and we also want to make sure to
- 14:42Speaker 5: give room to our Texas writers and creatives as well.
- 14:46Speaker 5: So it's just like finding balance between all of it
- 14:49Speaker 5: and hopefully one day we can expand to where we
- 14:51Speaker 5: can get more films.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I know last year you featured Man.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Land you showed land Man.
- 14:59Speaker 6: Because it was dream is to become an Academy Award
- 15:02Speaker 6: qualifying film festival. So Nicky kind of started this off
- 15:06Speaker 6: on that path because there are so many rules. Like
- 15:09Speaker 6: you said, there are rules and guidelines and how many
- 15:13Speaker 6: films of this nature you need to show and that,
- 15:15Speaker 6: and so he follows up very closely and we're thankful
- 15:19Speaker 6: to have him on board paying attention to those details.
- 15:22Speaker 2: How does that process like, is it a length of
- 15:25Speaker 2: time sort of thing, or how do you end up?
- 15:27Speaker 1: How are you how will you accomplish that?
- 15:29Speaker 2: Is that going to be just by like, how does
- 15:34Speaker 2: it work whether you become Academy Award qualified. I didn't
- 15:37Speaker 2: even know about that.
- 15:39Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a seven year process. So it used to
- 15:42Speaker 6: be a five year process and as of last year,
- 15:45Speaker 6: they changed it to a seven year process. So you
- 15:48Speaker 6: have to prove yourself for seven years and apply for it,
- 15:53Speaker 6: and I understand it's very difficult to get. So, you know,
- 15:56Speaker 6: fingers crossed that we can reach that goal and apply
- 16:00Speaker 6: in seven years and achieve that. That's uncle.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I feel like you will.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You got off to such a great start last year
- 16:09Speaker 2: and it seems like you're just moving forward this year.
- 16:12Speaker 4: I totally but you guys the future you mentioned which
- 16:16Speaker 4: is really exciting, So people know exactly where you want
- 16:19Speaker 4: to take this and what you want to do. But
- 16:21Speaker 4: you guys are also mom and daughter, and so I
- 16:24Speaker 4: want to know having I have two daughters, and I
- 16:27Speaker 4: would like to know what is it like to work
- 16:28Speaker 4: with your daughter. You know, I want to tell my
- 16:32Speaker 4: daughter that don't worry, I'm not trying to work with you.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I just want to know what it's like for you
- 16:37Speaker 4: guys on a daily basis.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Share a little bit about that.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Because we've got a bunch of moms here that have
- 16:43Speaker 4: businesses like with their daughter, and we just want to
- 16:47Speaker 4: know what is that dynamic Like, I mean, I know
- 16:49Speaker 4: it gets a little hot in my household sometimes with
- 16:52Speaker 4: my daughter. So spill the tea, is what I'm trying
- 16:55Speaker 4: to say to you.
- 16:56Speaker 6: Yeah, you know. Fortunately we have a really good working
- 17:01Speaker 6: relationship because we bring two different pieces to the table.
- 17:05Speaker 6: I think if we were both, you know, creatives in
- 17:10Speaker 6: the same direction, we might bedheads. Yeah. For me, I'm
- 17:15Speaker 6: more of the daily in and out of the festival,
- 17:19Speaker 6: managing the team, you know, developing the programs, talking to
- 17:24Speaker 6: everyone on the team. And Skyler you have just been
- 17:29Speaker 6: our creative vision from day one, and you can tell
- 17:32Speaker 6: a little bit about what you do in the parts
- 17:34Speaker 6: that you play.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd love to hear that.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of oversee because when we were coming
- 17:41Speaker 5: up with this, we were like, where, how are we going
- 17:44Speaker 5: to work together and who's gonna do what? Just so
- 17:48Speaker 5: we don't step on each other's toes. Me, I'm definitely
- 17:52Speaker 5: more creative, So my vision is just kind of I
- 17:55Speaker 5: work with the marketing team and also last year I
- 17:58Speaker 5: worked with Mickey kind of soleing the vibe that we
- 18:01Speaker 5: want to have in films, so I kind of oversee
- 18:06Speaker 5: more of the artistic side of things and help with
- 18:09Speaker 5: the parties and the films and just kind of the
- 18:14Speaker 5: overall vibe of it. So I'm always just trying to
- 18:17Speaker 5: curate new content and help with that and help spread
- 18:20Speaker 5: the word of it social media.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Sure.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Yeah, course, so.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Texas friends are going to want to know what do
- 18:31Speaker 4: these parties look like?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Skyler, you said you have a hand in. Yeah, Like, well, I.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Can let my mom go into full detail about them.
- 18:41Speaker 5: But we always want to make them fun and make
- 18:43Speaker 5: them for all different ages. Sure, especially this year, we're
- 18:47Speaker 5: trying to bring in more twenties thirties groups and so
- 18:52Speaker 5: we're kind of balancing them out, but we always try
- 18:56Speaker 5: to add a Texas flair to them because so many
- 18:58Speaker 5: people are coming from all around the world world, we
- 19:00Speaker 5: want to make sure that they get to experience Texas
- 19:03Speaker 5: the way we do. And then we also do a
- 19:06Speaker 5: fun theme each year. So last year we did Deneman Diamonds,
- 19:11Speaker 5: and then this year I can say it right, well, yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 2: So this year working together.
- 19:20Speaker 1: She's just checking.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Now that Taylor and Travis got engaged today, you can
- 19:24Speaker 4: say it like that's big news.
- 19:27Speaker 5: I always talked so much. I get excited and I
- 19:29Speaker 5: don't want to know.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I love it.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Leak out slowly, so it's like, can we say that,
- 19:35Speaker 6: like are we ready to release them?
- 19:37Speaker 2: That's good to work between you this year.
- 19:40Speaker 6: And opening night party is actually going to be an opens,
- 19:43Speaker 6: which is a new venue for Around Top. Will be
- 19:46Speaker 6: the very first, very first organization that gets to have
- 19:52Speaker 6: a party at their brand new event center, and so
- 19:56Speaker 6: we're super excited about that. Like Skyler said, we do
- 20:01Speaker 6: like to have that Texas flare, So we're going to
- 20:03Speaker 6: have a big kickoff where you wear your big boots,
- 20:07Speaker 6: you know, your boots and your big hat, and you
- 20:10Speaker 6: bring your style. Because around is now a fashion mecca
- 20:16Speaker 6: as well. We have a fashion week in the spring
- 20:20Speaker 6: and fall of the Antique Show, and we will have
- 20:23Speaker 6: a fashion and film panel, so when you come know
- 20:27Speaker 6: that you know you can go all out and anything
- 20:30Speaker 6: goes in Round Top. But anyway, that opening night is
- 20:34Speaker 6: a Western and it will be straight Tequila Knights will
- 20:38Speaker 6: be playing, so there's a lot of big scoop and Bookie,
- 20:41Speaker 6: I have a lot of activations and some Texas food, so.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I suppose Lalo will be there. Lalo the tequila will
- 20:52Speaker 3: be there.
- 20:52Speaker 6: Yeah, you know this year, Agazul is kind of good. Yes, yes,
- 20:59Speaker 6: and Lala's last year and august Zul has asked for
- 21:03Speaker 6: an exclusive this year.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Oh that'll be fun.
- 21:07Speaker 6: So it's a new toe quila. It is absolutely fantastic.
- 21:12Speaker 6: So we're excited to have them. And we're gonna miss Lalla.
- 21:15Speaker 6: I still have Lala on my bar.
- 21:18Speaker 2: They're all they're all good information, ula drinkers, e spirit.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Something new this year. And you mentioned given that Texas flair,
- 21:25Speaker 2: what's exciting for Texas is, you know, we're here in
- 21:29Speaker 2: La a lot and we hear a lot about what's
- 21:30Speaker 2: going on in the industry. And I know you're having
- 21:32Speaker 2: a panel of the uh the state of the Industry panel,
- 21:35Speaker 2: And I think one thing that's happening in the film
- 21:37Speaker 2: industry is there's more competition from other states in I
- 21:41Speaker 2: known Texas.
- 21:42Speaker 3: We just passed a passing bill bill to bring more.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Production into Texas. So to put a film festival in
- 21:49Speaker 2: Texas that's focused on Texas.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Well, that's outside of aus.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Austin has you know, gotten oversaturated, oversaturated a little bit downtown.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So this is a lot, Yeah, this is tremendous. Well
- 22:02Speaker 2: do you think that the changes in the filmmaking industry
- 22:06Speaker 2: in Texas will have an impact on your film festival
- 22:09Speaker 2: at all, or how do you think that will help change.
- 22:13Speaker 6: I've been hearing it's going to be really great for us,
- 22:15Speaker 6: So Texas is super exciting, excited about this bill. I
- 22:21Speaker 6: just went out on a group with a group on
- 22:25Speaker 6: Lake Travis recently, and it was a group of people
- 22:27Speaker 6: in the film industry and they were getting together to
- 22:31Speaker 6: see how we can all support each other. And it
- 22:34Speaker 6: was phenomenal because they were talking so much about this bill.
- 22:38Speaker 6: And several of the people were on this boat from
- 22:43Speaker 6: Miami from LA and they are moving here. They're like,
- 22:47Speaker 6: we cannot get here quick enough to be part of
- 22:51Speaker 6: this Texas boom. So I think it's only going to
- 22:55Speaker 6: help the festival.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yet.
- 22:59Speaker 6: Is a destination, you know, it's some place that you're
- 23:02Speaker 6: getting home and you're going to spend the weekend. You
- 23:05Speaker 6: can drive in from Houston and Austin because it's so close.
- 23:08Speaker 6: It's an hour and fifteen minutes either way you go.
- 23:12Speaker 6: So I make that drive a lot, you and from
- 23:17Speaker 6: in one day, so it's an easy drive and it's
- 23:19Speaker 6: a beautiful drive. But yeah, I think that it's really
- 23:24Speaker 6: going to be wonderful.
- 23:26Speaker 5: And I also think it makes a lot of people
- 23:29Speaker 5: I met last year that came to the film festival
- 23:32Speaker 5: from outside of Texas. They're all wanting to move here,
- 23:35Speaker 5: and Groundtop made them excited to realize that there are
- 23:38Speaker 5: cool parts of the countryside because you know, people don't
- 23:42Speaker 5: really think about Texas the country having nice restaurants and
- 23:47Speaker 5: stuff to do all the time. So they all want
- 23:50Speaker 5: to go out there for writers' retreats and stuff like
- 23:53Speaker 5: that because it's so accessible.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Oh I would imagine there would. Yeah, people also real
- 23:59Speaker 2: Top great. It has some great restaurants. Some of the
- 24:03Speaker 2: boutique hotels are just fabulous. You would not You're right,
- 24:06Speaker 2: people wouldn't think that that would be in round Top. Well,
- 24:10Speaker 2: but it is, I mean, and so yeah, I can
- 24:12Speaker 2: only see this getting bigger and better.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like you have to plan five years
- 24:17Speaker 3: out now.
- 24:18Speaker 1: It's going to be around well, you know, well, you
- 24:21Speaker 1: know Julian.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Place by your passes early and place to stay. There's
- 24:27Speaker 6: a lot of great hotels and there's a lot of
- 24:30Speaker 6: beautiful airbnb. Yes. Yeah, Ever, the neat thing about Roundtop
- 24:36Speaker 6: and what the antique best kind of set up for
- 24:39Speaker 6: it is that their great Airbnb is in Fayetteville, in Columbus,
- 24:44Speaker 6: in Gettings, in Lagrange in front of them. All of
- 24:48Speaker 6: these places are fifteen to twenty minute drive from Round Top,
- 24:52Speaker 6: so you're still very close. You know. It's like getting
- 24:56Speaker 6: in your car and going to dinner in Austin. It's
- 24:59Speaker 6: going to take you fifteen minutes to get there and
- 25:01Speaker 6: get home. So these places are all wonderful and the
- 25:05Speaker 6: airbnbs are phenomenal. Yeah, yeah, and really really nice job.
- 25:11Speaker 4: So I have a question about the films where exactly?
- 25:13Speaker 4: Because I know Roundtop very well. A lot of our
- 25:15Speaker 4: listeners haven't been to round Top, So where are you
- 25:18Speaker 4: showing all these films?
- 25:20Speaker 6: So our feature films and a lot of our documentaries
- 25:26Speaker 6: are shown at Festival Hill.
- 25:28Speaker 7: Oh yes.
- 25:29Speaker 6: Stable Hill is an orchestra hall by James Dick and
- 25:34Speaker 6: it is phenomenal. It looks like you're in the middle
- 25:36Speaker 6: of Europe. If you've never been, you're going to have
- 25:39Speaker 6: to go in and it's break taking. Everybody that walks
- 25:42Speaker 6: in is like, where am I? How do you hear?
- 25:47Speaker 6: What is this building doing in this small town? It's
- 25:50Speaker 6: all hand carved wood, gorgeous and it was we were
- 25:55Speaker 6: just honored to be able to show movies in there.
- 25:58Speaker 6: Our second, then you is the round Top Dance Hall,
- 26:02Speaker 6: and it's just a whole another vibe. It's an old
- 26:05Speaker 6: dance hall from way back, historic dance hall with you know,
- 26:09Speaker 6: the windows that pop out, and it just gives you
- 26:12Speaker 6: another vibes. And we share our shorts and we have
- 26:14Speaker 6: a lot of our panels there during the day, like
- 26:18Speaker 6: the State of the Industry, our Rising Star will be there, okay,
- 26:22Speaker 6: And this year we have two panels that we're going
- 26:25Speaker 6: to offer on Sunday, and you want one to miss
- 26:29Speaker 6: Sunday this year because we're having our stunt panel and
- 26:33Speaker 6: our Veterans panel on Sunday along with a whole block
- 26:38Speaker 6: of films, So those will be fantastic.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I like how you're closing.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's stunt'll vegetable hill.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I'm sorry, that's pretty cool, the stunt panel.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'd love to say that. Yeah, Like, were they going
- 26:51Speaker 1: to like zoom in or you know, well, this is
- 26:54Speaker 1: very cool. Well I can't wait. Well, we have.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Some exciting moms, some moms that want to ask you
- 27:01Speaker 2: questions as well about the film festival. So let's welcome
- 27:04Speaker 2: our zoomer moms. Welcome to the Mom's Club, ladies. Okay,
- 27:12Speaker 2: I know a few of you have been our veterans
- 27:15Speaker 2: of Roundtop, so you're now excited. I'm sure that this
- 27:17Speaker 2: is going to be coming to our area. And let's
- 27:21Speaker 2: start with someone who has been to Roundtop quite a bit.
- 27:24Speaker 2: And I know she will be joining us because we're
- 27:25Speaker 2: going to have her come with us. Julie and I
- 27:27Speaker 2: are going to sign up right.
- 27:28Speaker 1: After the show.
- 27:29Speaker 3: She just doesn't know it yet.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Jennifer, Welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little
- 27:33Speaker 2: bit about yourself, where you're from, and do you have
- 27:35Speaker 2: a question for Shannon Skuyler.
- 27:39Speaker 8: Hi, I'm so happy with you here. I'm thrilled to
- 27:42Speaker 8: hear about this expansion of Roundtop's incredible cultural, Like it
- 27:51Speaker 8: just feels like it has a gravity force field that
- 27:54Speaker 8: just draws culture to it and it's almost like it
- 27:58Speaker 8: just doesn't stop anyways.
- 27:59Speaker 9: My name from Marsh.
- 28:00Speaker 8: I'm from Austin, Texas, and I have two kids. I
- 28:04Speaker 8: have a daughter who's twenty four and a son who's
- 28:06Speaker 8: right down the street at ET and I am in
- 28:10Speaker 8: the design field, so trained as an architect, but I
- 28:13Speaker 8: also love to do in tier design, dat bold landscape
- 28:16Speaker 8: design a bit. And one of the things I love
- 28:19Speaker 8: about this area is that when I got here in
- 28:24Speaker 8: nineteen ninety eight, I kind of I sort of felt
- 28:26Speaker 8: like it was like the Frontier and people always said
- 28:30Speaker 8: that round Top was like a you know, there's flea markets,
- 28:34Speaker 8: so I never really went, and I was in Austin
- 28:37Speaker 8: from ninety eight until two thousand and one before I
- 28:41Speaker 8: finally went to round Top and I was like, this.
- 28:43Speaker 9: Place is bananas. What is happening?
- 28:45Speaker 8: Like I felt like I'd heard a vourtex of design amazingness.
- 28:49Speaker 8: But what you all had done with the film Festival
- 28:52Speaker 8: that is so exciting to me is highlight the fact
- 28:55Speaker 8: that it's just a really creative community.
- 28:58Speaker 9: And it's not just one community.
- 28:59Speaker 8: It's like a constellation of towns that are all had
- 29:02Speaker 8: this incredible synergy with one another. And so I mean,
- 29:07Speaker 8: I'm I am dying to know what the plan is
- 29:11Speaker 8: for expanding the festival. It sounds like you have some
- 29:15Speaker 8: great venues, but like all things round Top, they just
- 29:18Speaker 8: tend to get bigger and better and like warped speed.
- 29:22Speaker 9: And that's why I love going, like do we go
- 29:25Speaker 9: fall and Spring to the festival.
- 29:26Speaker 8: Because there's like a whole new venue that's opened up,
- 29:30Speaker 8: or a brand new incredible restaurant, or a brand new
- 29:33Speaker 8: place to stay, and it just there seems to be
- 29:36Speaker 8: just such momentum there right now, and people, as you said,
- 29:40Speaker 8: are flying in from all over the world. So what's
- 29:42Speaker 8: your like, I know you're in Roundtop right now, but like,
- 29:45Speaker 8: do you plan to expand it to the's.
- 29:48Speaker 9: Like all of the constellation of towns.
- 29:50Speaker 2: That lagrange your hometown. Yeah, what's what are the plans there?
- 29:55Speaker 6: That? Absolutely that's our goal. Like I was saying earlier
- 29:59Speaker 6: this year, we kind of want to just stick to
- 30:01Speaker 6: the same template, make sure that we're full and the
- 30:05Speaker 6: house is packed and we have the growth that we
- 30:09Speaker 6: need before we expand. But there's other venues that we're
- 30:12Speaker 6: already thinking about exploring for this expansion, because you know,
- 30:17Speaker 6: the Antique Festival goes all the way from Mike Warrenton, Texas,
- 30:21Speaker 6: all the way to Brenham. So we have that whole
- 30:24Speaker 6: template laid out where we can definitely tap into a
- 30:27Speaker 6: lot of other venues and expand and bring a lot
- 30:31Speaker 6: of new screening places which will allow us to show
- 30:35Speaker 6: a lot.
- 30:35Speaker 1: More films that's exciting.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And yeah, we failed to mention too that Jennifer is
- 30:39Speaker 2: a member of the the president of the Round Top
- 30:41Speaker 2: Chamber of Commerce. If you didn't notice, that was a
- 30:43Speaker 2: good advertisement. I love listening to that because it is.
- 30:47Speaker 2: It is such a amazing Lorraine, welcome to the Mom's Club.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Where are you from? Tell us a little bit about yourself,
- 30:54Speaker 2: and do you have a question.
- 30:56Speaker 10: I do, thank you so much for having me on today.
- 30:59Speaker 10: My name is Howard and I am from Wichita Falls, Texas,
- 31:03Speaker 10: so North Texas. I've been here for about a year
- 31:08Speaker 10: and I am a certified professional photographer. I actually photograph
- 31:12Speaker 10: other events. I've photographed two years. This will be my
- 31:15Speaker 10: third year to photograph a different film festival. So I'm
- 31:18Speaker 10: so excited to hear about this one and i want
- 31:20Speaker 10: to come see this one.
- 31:21Speaker 6: This is so cool.
- 31:22Speaker 5: So can you a come?
- 31:27Speaker 10: But I have I'm a mom to eight children. I
- 31:30Speaker 10: have two birth children and we've done I've adopted six
- 31:35Speaker 10: out of the foster care system and I've actually had
- 31:38Speaker 10: ninety nine foster children.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So working with your daughter is.
- 31:43Speaker 10: So special to me. I'm just so excited to hear
- 31:47Speaker 10: about that. And my question would be.
- 31:52Speaker 6: As a mom.
- 31:53Speaker 10: You know, we think about the legacy that we're leaving
- 31:56Speaker 10: for our kids. And Shannon, what do you hope that
- 31:59Speaker 10: this past well inspires not just for your family with Skyler,
- 32:04Speaker 10: but for other young creatives who may dream of telling
- 32:07Speaker 10: their story someday.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Great question, you.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Know for me, I think being a mom was always about,
- 32:15Speaker 6: you know, finding that spark, what drives that your child.
- 32:21Speaker 6: And so Skuyler, you know, she tried soccer, she tried
- 32:25Speaker 6: all these different sports and ballet and you name it,
- 32:30Speaker 6: and she landed and she's like, okay, I'm quitting ballet.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Right when she was going to be Clara and the Nutcracker.
- 32:35Speaker 6: I was like, what are you doing. You can't do that. No, no, no,
- 32:39Speaker 6: I'm going into theater. I'm like, okay, here we go.
- 32:43Speaker 6: So you make the shift. But she found her true
- 32:46Speaker 6: passion and so that's meaningful to me. And I hope
- 32:52Speaker 6: that other parents can help guide and direct their children
- 32:57Speaker 6: into what their guy given talents on so that they
- 33:03Speaker 6: can really pursue that and it's meaningful to them. I
- 33:07Speaker 6: think that gives them a happy life. I think that
- 33:11Speaker 6: it gives them a sense of accomplishment because it's something
- 33:14Speaker 6: that they own and I just love that we're able
- 33:19Speaker 6: to work together. I hope that it inspires other mothers
- 33:23Speaker 6: to do the same, be it if they want to
- 33:26Speaker 6: open a clothing store or what have you. It's something
- 33:30Speaker 6: beautiful that is right, that's awesome, I hope my kids. Yeah, absolutely,
- 33:38Speaker 6: it sounds like you have a good team.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yes, well, Skyler as the daughter, do you have anything
- 33:44Speaker 2: to add to that?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Skyler as her daughter?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Do you have anything you want to add to that?
- 33:50Speaker 2: Because you're coming at that from your perspective, having your
- 33:53Speaker 2: mom care so much is to to create this and help,
- 33:59Speaker 2: you know, work together on this.
- 34:00Speaker 1: What are your thoughts about that?
- 34:02Speaker 5: Acting? And then I got into writing and that's where
- 34:05Speaker 5: I really just found my spark and that's what I
- 34:10Speaker 5: do every day. It's just really fun. It's you know,
- 34:14Speaker 5: I also I'm always working on screenplays and working on
- 34:19Speaker 5: novels and stuff. And so then having something that we
- 34:22Speaker 5: get to do together and get to talk on the
- 34:25Speaker 5: phone about it's been really exciting. And it's also been
- 34:28Speaker 5: really cool because growing up my mom she was just
- 34:31Speaker 5: my number one supporter and was just to stay at
- 34:34Speaker 5: home mom with me, taking me to all my practices
- 34:38Speaker 5: and acting auditions and stuff. And so now it's been
- 34:42Speaker 5: cool getting to see her step into this role and
- 34:45Speaker 5: just being like a very powerful woman.
- 34:47Speaker 1: So yeah, that's great.
- 34:49Speaker 2: And yeah, sometimes parents, it's great to be a supportive
- 34:52Speaker 2: parent and genuinely support what your child's really passionate about.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Interesting as opposed to some parents who voice something on.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Their childlike or whatever it is, like me, or you're
- 35:05Speaker 1: done or what.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yes, all that, Arlene, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell
- 35:10Speaker 2: us where you're from a little bit about yourself, and
- 35:12Speaker 2: do you have a question for these ladies.
- 35:14Speaker 6: Yes, thank you for having me.
- 35:17Speaker 7: I'm Arlene Dion and I'm from the Los Angeles area.
- 35:21Speaker 7: I am a mother to an energetic five year old daughter,
- 35:25Speaker 7: the Little Girl. I'm an entrepreneur with finance background, but
- 35:30Speaker 7: i also am the owner of a mail box and
- 35:33Speaker 7: shipping store and called Mailboxes and More in Sherman Oaks, California.
- 35:39Speaker 7: It's one of the highest rated mail box in shipping
- 35:41Speaker 7: companies in Savvando Valley, so I'm pretty proud about that.
- 35:45Speaker 7: Uh So, my question for you Shanna and Styler is
- 35:50Speaker 7: what are some of the challenges of running a film
- 35:53Speaker 7: festival as a mother and daughter duo?
- 35:57Speaker 1: Good question, and I take the lead on this fun sure.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Some of the Honestly, we talk about it all the time,
- 36:06Speaker 5: how lucky you we are because everything just fell into
- 36:10Speaker 5: place and kind of took off so fast that we
- 36:14Speaker 5: always and we have such a good team in my
- 36:16Speaker 5: mom and I. I think we have the same kind of
- 36:18Speaker 5: quick problem solving brains, so the problems don't last for
- 36:22Speaker 5: that long, thank god, because we also were both overthinkers,
- 36:27Speaker 5: so we're like, we're not going to stop until this
- 36:29Speaker 5: is resolved. But last year, I think our biggest hardship
- 36:35Speaker 5: was having the film festival be a destination film fest
- 36:39Speaker 5: and Roundtop, Texas. A lot of people don't know what
- 36:43Speaker 5: that what Roundtop is still, and then the people that
- 36:49Speaker 5: do they know it for the antiques, and so when
- 36:51Speaker 5: people were looking it up it nobody knew really what
- 36:55Speaker 5: to expect, and we all we could do is just
- 36:58Speaker 5: promise they were going to have a good time. I'm
- 37:01Speaker 5: so the submissions, it was hard to get those to
- 37:05Speaker 5: roll in at first, and but we had such a
- 37:07Speaker 5: great mickey, We had a great coordinator of that, so
- 37:13Speaker 5: it ended up working out. And then this year we're like,
- 37:16Speaker 5: we can never have that happen again. But it ended
- 37:18Speaker 5: up working out. But this year now we have so
- 37:22Speaker 5: many people that were unfortunately going to have to say
- 37:24Speaker 5: no to so it all ends up working out, and
- 37:27Speaker 5: I think it's been good with both of our shared positivity.
- 37:32Speaker 5: But that was definitely yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 3: I mean, that's a really nice problem to have.
- 37:35Speaker 2: You have a problem, that's a that's a good constanza.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Welcome to the Mom's Club.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Where are you from? Tell us a little bit about
- 37:45Speaker 1: yourself and do you have a question? O?
- 37:49Speaker 11: Hi guys, Hiza, I am from Brazil originally.
- 37:54Speaker 5: I live in beautiful Miami Peach, Florida.
- 37:57Speaker 11: And I'm the mama to an incredible eleven year old
- 38:00Speaker 11: girl who I don't know where she.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Is right now.
- 38:03Speaker 5: That's right, we'll find by day. I run a marketing agency.
- 38:09Speaker 11: I work predominantly with hospitality projects all over the nation,
- 38:13Speaker 11: and I really love the mom clubs, you guys. I've
- 38:17Speaker 11: been following you guys for so so long. I think
- 38:19Speaker 11: she has Brazilians we really pride ourselves on energy and
- 38:22Speaker 11: just surrounding ourselves with the right people, the right moms,
- 38:24Speaker 11: people that bring out the best in us.
- 38:27Speaker 5: So yeah, super excited to be here.
- 38:29Speaker 11: My question, I guess is a little bit for both
- 38:31Speaker 11: of you. Listen, my goal is to definitely have I
- 38:35Speaker 11: only have a little one, so if I'm able to
- 38:37Speaker 11: do something with her when she's older, that would be
- 38:40Speaker 11: a blessing. So I guess wanted to get a little
- 38:42Speaker 11: bit deeper and kind of understand how has this made
- 38:45Speaker 11: this chapter of your life more meaningful working together?
- 38:50Speaker 6: I mean, for me, it's been wonderful because you know,
- 38:54Speaker 6: like you you're in it and you're raising your child
- 38:57Speaker 6: and you're doing all the things, and then they go
- 39:00Speaker 6: off to college and you're like, oh, my gosh, I'm
- 39:02Speaker 6: an empty nest for now, what am I going to
- 39:05Speaker 6: do with myself? And so that was kind of the
- 39:08Speaker 6: first part. But then when mine went off to college,
- 39:11Speaker 6: COVID struck, so she was home very quickly, so it
- 39:15Speaker 6: was kind of like she's back in the nest again,
- 39:17Speaker 6: and so it was a slower transition into that phase.
- 39:24Speaker 6: And then she went off and she you know, worked
- 39:27Speaker 6: and she moved to New York, and then she came
- 39:29Speaker 6: back and then when she said yes, I'm interested in this,
- 39:34Speaker 6: let's do it. I mean, it was so rewarding to
- 39:36Speaker 6: me to be able to take that and to share
- 39:41Speaker 6: her passion and my passion, you know, of giving back
- 39:47Speaker 6: and be able to turn that into something beautiful. And
- 39:50Speaker 6: this festival has just been it's been beautiful and it's
- 39:55Speaker 6: growing and we're excited and it's something super neat to
- 39:59Speaker 6: share with your order.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yeah, ditto.
- 40:05Speaker 5: And I think watching my mom just now being an adult,
- 40:10Speaker 5: seeing her step into this powerful role and you know,
- 40:15Speaker 5: have start watching you have a new chapter and make
- 40:19Speaker 5: new friends and see all that. That's been really cool
- 40:21Speaker 5: for me to watch too. So it's been fun.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I know. Wow, you know we were going to eat tissues,
- 40:30Speaker 4: the tissues.
