- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning to the noisy farm.
- 0:30The crows are very busy this morning screaming.
- 0:32So if you hear them only because there's a hawk out there.
- 0:36So they're just screaming and the girls are quiet and kind of
- 0:41they're here eating, but they're they're not like noisy as usual.
- 0:45I think it's just the crows are really kind of getting everybody
- 0:49in the right headspace this morning.
- 0:50Anyway, today we are talking about progress over perfection
- 0:56and very important, especially since we spoke about Martha
- 1:00Stewart the other day and her her love of perfection, I
- 1:04thought it would be important to talk about the theory of
- 1:07progress over perfection and what it means.
- 1:11So from, from my perspective, when I am working on something
- 1:15for myself personally or I'm working on something with
- 1:18clients, there's always an understanding that this is, it
- 1:23is 100% necessary that understand that this is a, a
- 1:27long road, it's a marathon, it's not a Sprint.
- 1:30And we will be looking at points where there will be
- 1:36imperfections, if you will. And if you're expecting
- 1:39perfection, I will ask them and I will ask myself immediately,
- 1:43what do you define as perfection?
- 1:46What do you define as the perfect way that this will come
- 1:50about? Often when I ask that question,
- 1:54there's no answer. There's it's just blank.
- 1:56People don't know how to answer it.
- 1:57They're going like, well, I don't know.
- 1:58I'll know when I know, which is a very, very tough thing to to
- 2:03take in when you have that inside of you, because that
- 2:06means it's a moving target. That means you never have
- 2:08anything to measure by. So when your answer is I'll
- 2:11know. When I know you are setting
- 2:14yourself up for a very long, very difficult lingering journey
- 2:21because you don't have a way to measure.
- 2:23And that's the part that's so hard.
- 2:25We have to understand what is the goal?
- 2:29Where is this going to be done? Where is this going to have an,
- 2:33an end insight. So sometimes it, it, it's good
- 2:36for now and then we'll move on. I'm very big on that with
- 2:39myself. So doing the website over the
- 2:42course of this year, we launched a new website at the beginning
- 2:44of the year. We launched some content, we
- 2:47launched, you know, putting blogs out.
- 2:49We did so, so much this year. This year has been so abundant.
- 2:52Having a, a really awesome team to work with, with myself and
- 2:56the people that I have that helped me.
- 2:58We have gotten so much done, which is fantastic, wonderful
- 3:02and I love it. And at the same time, I knew
- 3:06totally, I knew that when I did this, there was not going to be
- 3:10a, a perfection of the website. I knew when we first started
- 3:14off, we had started with one particular company and I won't
- 3:18say the name because it's so bad, can't stand them.
- 3:21And we built it out and I hated the look of it.
- 3:24I just hated it. I hated it's inflexibility and
- 3:26we had to get rid of it. We didn't have to, but I chose
- 3:29to. We started all over with another
- 3:31company. I love it.
- 3:33It's much more graphic and artistic and that's me.
- 3:36So it represented me and we did it and I knew even when we
- 3:40finished it and had it like quasi finished in I think it was
- 3:45April maybe, maybe it was sooner than I forget how, how this laid
- 3:49out in time, time kind of blurs for me sometimes.
- 3:52I said to everybody, look, this is good for now.
- 3:55This is done for now. This is what we want for now.
- 3:58But I am very, very big on saying the words for now.
- 4:01So I understand that as my identity shifts and I grow, my
- 4:06outcomes are going to shift and grow.
- 4:08That's just part of the process for me anyway.
- 4:11So it may be that way for you, which is why we're talking about
- 4:14it. So just adding two simple words
- 4:17for now allows us to have the space to observe, also learn
- 4:21from it. Go in and actually learn and
- 4:23say, what else do we need? What else can we do to shift
- 4:27this? How can we make this different
- 4:28and better? And I'm always looking for
- 4:31improvements in myself and in everything that I'm working on.
- 4:35So very important to recognize that you can do those things
- 4:39because as you do them, they become so much more.
- 4:43As you do those observations and you give yourself, they become
- 4:46so much easier to assimilate what your new ideas are when
- 4:51you're not beating yourself up for saying, oh, this is wasted
- 4:54time. I wasted all this time, you
- 4:56know, I did. I don't say those words.
- 4:58What I say is I learned so much. I learned so much.
- 5:01So now that I've learned this and even getting ready to go
- 5:03into the end of the year and look at what changes we want to
- 5:06make with course content and website again, I will go back in
- 5:10and I will say this is, this is a journey of progress.
- 5:13It's not a journey of perfection.
- 5:15It is totally focused on where we are now, where do we want to
- 5:20be, making sure we have a good solid definition of it.
- 5:23And then looking and saying, OK, this is good for now with what
- 5:27we have. And as we expand and grow our
- 5:29intent and our content and everything else, we will shift
- 5:32it yet again. And that's the way you do it.
- 5:35So hopefully this was helpful and just add those two words in
- 5:38for now and watch the stress go away.
- 5:41All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:43will see you tomorrow. Bye.
