Transcript
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all, welcome to today's episode of the Throttle Floor Podcast.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Will Ernest, here today, uh just myself, but it's good to be back.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: The return of the Throttle Floor Podcast longly uh anticipated for a while, but of course, you know, now I live in Georgia, things are a lot different, but we'll jump uh right into it here on this late night episode.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: There's been plenty of schedule updates that come out lately as the 2027 NASCAR schedule comes into focus, but three main dates I want to talk about that have been talked about recently.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: First, Chicagoland will be back next year with Arco O'Reilly's and Cup.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Once again, not the street course.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: They tried to work out that deal, but they'll return to the mile and a half track in Joliet, Illinois.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Um, but a week earlier next year, not July 4th weekend next year, it'll be uh June 25th to the 27th with Arco Riley's and Cup.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Second, Iowa will take over the July 4th weekend that Chicago Lane had this year.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Um they will also once again run Arco, Riley's and Cup.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: They'll run from July 2nd to July 4th.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Uh July 4th next year is on a Sunday, so as a former Iowa and it feels weird to say that.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Um it's definitely exciting to see the cup race get moved to July 4th, but you know, it probably won't stick, but we'll see.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: It is definitely encouraging though that they are investing twenty million dollars into Iowa first to give it a full repave and then also to upgrade the fan amenities and all that stuff.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: So that's good to see.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And third, something that came out today, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park returns for the first time for the truck series since 2019 on Sunday, September 5th.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Cup and O'Reilly's will be in Richmond that weekend, Friday and Saturday, to open the chase.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: So very interesting.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: The truck race will be after the O'Reilly's and Cup race that weekend, so pretty interesting there.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Other big uh news that came out this week, Connor Zilich will go to Hendrick Motorsports in the 48 cars starting in 2028 after Alex Bowman retires.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: My question is, is what happens to Corey Day?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, he is Hendrix developmental driver after all.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was announced that he's gonna stay in the O'Reilly's car in 2027, but what about after that?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Is he gonna go to Track House and replace Zilich?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Is he gonna go to uh Haas Factory team or some other team that has Hendrix support or uh who knows?
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: But uh on to sprint cars now is a big week in the sprint car world.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Of course, as a former Iowa and myself, I would know that with Knoxville this past weekend.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: But it looks like Mr.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Knoxville Ryan Times would dominate again as he came in this year as the defending 410 Knoxville Nationals winner.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: He won the 360 Knoxville Nationals this year, becoming just the third driver all time to win the 410 and the 360 Nationals after Sammy Swindell and Daniel Lazowski.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: But the big turning point came on Monday in Oscalo, so the front row challenge saw Kyle Larson himself uh slide by Tim's in the feature with four laps left, which crushed his nose and relegated Timms to a third place finish while Larson went on to win for the sixth time in the front row challenge, including third in a row at OSCE.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: But man, just Tim's was not happy afterwards, and I don't really blame him, but he kind of retracted his uh statement afterwards.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: But it it was pretty heated post-race there, but man, Larson's week was just incredible.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: He became the first driver ever to win four times in one week during uh Knoxville Nationals week, even when including the front row challenge, which uh in Oscaloosa, which dates back to 1996.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: He won the Cappetini Classic on Sunday, then of course the controversial win in Oscaloosa on Monday.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: He won his Knoxville Nationals prelim on Thursday and well the big Knoxville Nationals themselves on Saturday, but that alone was significant enough.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Saturday night, Larson was in Richmond for the NASCAR Cup race where he finished sixth.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: We all know it conflicted with Knoxville, like a whole year in advance.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Larson knew it too.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: We all knew it.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: And honestly, he was just hoping he could even watch it.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: But the skies opened up for hours and hours and hours on end in uh Knoxville, and it gave Larson a window to where after the race he flew straight into Knoxville.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I mean he missed a main hot laps, but it didn't matter because he led every lap from the pole to win his fourth career Knoxville Nationals title in perhaps the most unexpected way we've ever seen.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, Larson accidentally completed a Richmond Knoxville double, but that's just Kyle Larson for you, I guess.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: It's just wild to think.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: It's like Knoxville didn't even get like hot laps in, uh, or they didn't even get hot laps started, like when Larson got radioed in on the situation and Cliff Daniels as crew chief, they were even setting up a whole plan for him to go and it's like, okay, cool, and then boom, just went out and won.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: So that that's Kyle Larson for you, I guess.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: In a way, it almost makes up for the fact that he failed to do the Indy Charlotte double.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Although I don't think anybody expected him to complete this double.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: None of us even knew this double existed.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: But on to IndyCar's debut at Markham just outside of Toronto, it initially looked like a disaster as the track was struggling to even finish being built.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Friday's opening indie car practice, it had to be moved to Saturday morning while the track was being completed, but at least the race got in safely when it was all said and done.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But at first I didn't even think the track was gonna even be built in time.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Louis Foster took off in the lead at first.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: He secured his second career indie car poll after uh Road America last year.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: But like any new track to any motorsports series, there's bound to be some chaos.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: First it was Mick Schumacher wrecking lap 15, then Marcus Armstrong brought up the caution and the hairpin, which I mean what a poorly designed and yet highly entertaining hairpin.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: We saw multiple desperate moves, and you basically had to come to a stop in that hairpin.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was wild in itself.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Although Marcus Armstrong like just pulled out in the middle of the track, just right in front of everybody else when everybody's trying to go by on the caution lap, so that was something.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Then Scott Dixon, Kristen Raffinson wrecked along with the straight course King Kyle Kirkwood, but the race altering moment was Louis Foster himself.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: He overdrove the corner on lap 43, tried to pass Marcus Ericsson for third, and then clipped the inside wall just barely by like six inches or something.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And uh that sent him hard into the outside wall at a very harsh angle.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Luckily, he was alright.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: That was a brutal wreck for a street course, especially.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Uh afterwards it looked like Roman Grosjon would finally collect his first indie car win, but it was Marcus Erickson himself who played the strategy and the hairpin on teammate Will Power, right, to score his first win in 63 races, his first since the Streets of St.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Pete to open the season in 2023, and it's his fifth career indie car win.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: It was uh got it with a late pass on Grosjon to win with five laps to go, pulled away to win by about seven seconds.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Grosjon second, his sixth career runner-up finish, so he still tries to get his first indie car win.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Will Power third for the second week in a row.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Impressive there after a really sluggish start to the year.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, do we do we even call it sluggish?
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: More like just a bad season.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Alex Pillow fourth after starting outside the top ten for the first time in 30 races due to a wreck in qualifying that he had.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And Powder Ward fifth.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: But with Kirkwood wrecking out, and Dave Malucas only finished 17th a lap down.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Pelow managed to extend his lead even more with just four races to go.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: He's now got a 133-point lead over Kirkwood and 137-point lead over Malucas as Pillow closes in on a fourth championship in a row and fifth overall, which would all be in the last six years.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: A fifth title would cement Pillow alone at third all-time in IndyCar titles, only behind Scott Dixon's six titles and AJ Foyd's seven titles.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: But man, from now, from one new unpredictable street course for indie car to another is this week they race in Washington, D.C.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: That's right, the nation's capital.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: They host an IndyCar race on their streets for the first and possibly only time ever.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Um, in celebration of America's 250th birthday, but our uh updated standings on race picks.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: Basically, the situation is is if I finish uh 20th or better next week in DC, I will clinch the IndyCar title.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: I have a 236 point lead over Evan.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: He is the only other one who can win the title besides me, but it would take a miracle, let's be honest.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Stacy's 256 back, Haley's 265 back, Bernardo's 327 back, Noah's 363 back, Ethan's 430 back, Zane's 446 back, so it's interesting to see if Ethan.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Noah or Bernardo before the season's over.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: But I picked Kristen Lingard, ended up sixth, just a quiet day, started second.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: His that doesn't mean his weekend was uneventful, though.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: He was pretty bad in practice, but managed to really uh improve his car throughout the weekend, got a nice uh second place qualifying position and held that throughout uh most of the race, even through all the chaos.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it's exactly what I needed.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Um Evan with Felix Rosenquist, tough day, ended up DNFing out of this race as well.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: There were a lot of DNFs in this race.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Haley with Joseph Newgarden, uh just a quiet 13th, started towards the back of the field, so did make up some ground, but it wasn't really all that enough.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Uh Stacy with Will Power ended up third, second, third place finish in a row for Will Power, like we mentioned earlier.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Noah with uh Dennis Hauger ended up 15th.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Ethan with Kyle Kirkwood, we mentioned wrecked out in 21st, and Zayn with Santina Ferrucci, a solid uh 10th place finish.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: But on to the truck series.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: This truck race started off with, well, everyone's favorite thing, definitely not favorite thing, weather, as this race was pushed from Friday night to Saturday morning.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, man, could you imagine if Kyle Larson was running the 7 truck this week?
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: And it ran three races in one day with the truck cup and the Knoxville Nationals, but only one could imagine.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: But the driver of the 7 truck this week actually also surprised uh and impressed everyone.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Shane Van Gisbergen.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: That's right, he won the poll for this race and ran top five for much of the day, but it's definitely overshadowed by a certain other driver that dominated this race.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: More on him in a minute.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Ty Majeski had possible break shake, which wasn't looking too good, but luckily that sorted itself out.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: However, what didn't was a flat tire with uh after contact with Cory Hyman stage two that basically killed Majeski's day, especially since there was only one natural cushion the whole race for Stuart Friesen blowing a tire with around 35 to go, and that's unfortunate for him because Freesen's wreck, it caused his points gap to the chase cutoff to enlarge to 20 below Tyler Anchor for the 10th and final chase spot with only New Hampshire left this weekend to set the chase for the truck series.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: But it was Caden Honeycutt with a dominating victory for his second win of his career after he won at Watkins Glen this May.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Led 225 of the 250 laps, swept both stages as his gap to Lane Riggs for the regular season title is at 61 points, but with only one race left, Riggs will probably uh still end up winning the regular season title.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Haim ended up second.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Uh he was the defending winner of this race.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Of course, he was running part-time for Tricon in that five truck.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Christian Ekas, a very quiet third place finish in this race.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: SVG we mentioned in impressive uh top five finished fourth from the pole.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: And Grant Enfinger ended up fifth.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: He had a late race strategy going.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: He was trying to stretch it on fuel, but it fell apart with the freezing caution.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Once that came out, he was kind of screwed.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Um new standings and picks and all that.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Evan still leads the points.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: He leads by 44 over Stacy, 58 over me, 87 over Haley, 166 over Bernardo, 203 over Noah, 358 over Zayn, 359 over Ethan.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: So they're both uh pretty close to each other.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Um, but it'll be interesting if they can run down any of the other full timers.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know if they will be able to, though.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: I picked Ty Majeski.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: At first, uh it wasn't looking too good with the brake shake, and then that resolved itself, and then of course I had a flat tire.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Not much to say there.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Not much to say there.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: Evan with Tristan McKee ended up eighth.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Solid race for his truck series debut um with Tristan McKee, especially since it was a few days after he won the Battle of Berlin short track race, and a week after he won the Arca race at Iowa, so pretty impressive week for Tristan McKee.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Can't really say the same about Carson Hosebar.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: More on him later.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: But yeah.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Haley with Ben Rhodes, just a quiet 18th, a very pedestrian day for him.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Uh Stacy with Chandler Smith uh ended up seventh, and Noah with Jake Garcia ended up sixth.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Also pretty pedestrian days for them, solid top tens, not really much to report there.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: Um same with Ethan, with Daniel Henrick, ended up 10th, but Zane really gained a lot of ground.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: He actually picked Honeycutt to win the race.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Um, like we mentioned, led 225 of the 250 laps, obviously had the most slaps, had the fastest lap too, really dominating performance.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Um in the cup race, uh there were some cars that were also dominant, but not Honeycutt level dominant.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: But it looked like Ryan Blaney's race at the start, he controlled the first half of this race from the pole, won the first stage.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: But initially the big story was the commitment line was moved further through turn force, mostly so that you could see the orange box uh better because Richmond had been notorious for having commitment box violations because it was kind of hidden as you were coming around three and four.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: So they moved it forward, but as a result, the first zone on pit road was 75 feet shorter, and because the zone was shorter, um, it caused like you had more chances for speeding and stuff since the zone was shorter, the average uh, you know, the distance was shorter, so the time and stuff would it it's all like an average time situation, but it caused Ty Gibbs to get a speeding penalty and also Austin Hill had an uncontrolled tire.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: But otherwise, there were only two other penalties during the whole race after those two within the first 35 lats, which definitely surprised me.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: I thought there'd be a lot more penalties, but they did a the teams did a good job preparing for that.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Um Austin Sindrick, man, had a great time to have his best short track race ever.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Drove from 23rd on the grid all the way to finish third, which puts him at plus 57 to the chase cutoff with only two races left.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: But once we got into stage two, it turned into the Joey Logano and Chase Briscoe show.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: As they would battle back and forth throughout stage two, Logano got the stage two win, and then Carson O'Swarm, like we mentioned, uh went from fifth to third gear, which uh, you know, I'm not the biggest expert on manual engines, but going from fifth to third gear and spiking at 10,000 RPMs is not really recommended.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, that just destroyed the engine and gearbox and all that and left him out of the race in dead last.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: And not good there.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: But there was some late strategy in stage three, Chris Rebell and Tyler Reddick, they tried to run long and tried to finish the race uh on just one more pit stop versus the leaders trying to do two pit stops.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Tires were definitely a major factor in this race, but after everything cycled through, it was Logano holding off Briscoe for the win, second win of the year after Norwich Wilkesboro.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: That was only four races ago.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: So in the last four races, he's already got two wins, where previous he only had one win through the previous 58 races, which is kind of wild.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: It's his third win at Richmond, and it's his 39th career win, which ironically ties Matt Kenseth.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: And if you're a Joey Logano fan, you know how ironic that is tying Matt Kenzeth in something.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Um but this propels, I mean, just the last six races, Logano has gone from 20th in the points to ninth in just six races, which is just absolutely wild.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Briscoe, second, like we mentioned, which I mean he didn't have a bad week either as Briscoe he acquired Brent Marks' sprint car team and rebranded it to Chase Briscoe Racing.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: They finished seventh in the Capatini Classic, third in his prelim on Thursday at Knoxville, and ninth in the main event Saturday night.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Okay, technically Sunday morning due to the rain, but who's counting?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: So not a bad week at Knoxville for Briscoe's nude sprint car team.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: We'll see how they do uh in High Limit, being that Brent Marks is a full-time high limit team, and uh High Limit's back this week.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: They go out west and uh go out west to California and on the West Coast and Oregon and all that.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So we'll see how they do.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be very interesting, though.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: Cendric third, like we mentioned, gained 20 spots just starting 23rd.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Uh Denny Hamlin finished fourth, now has a 115-point lead over to Blaney, who only finished 13th after the race kind of got away from him in the second half of the race.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Uh, but Hamlin's up 115 points on Blaney for the regular season title with two races left.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: However, Blaney is the defending winner of both New Hampshire and the Summer Daytona race.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: So will Hamlin probably still win the regular season title and get the number one seed in the chase?
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Probably.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: But you know, we'll see.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: We'll see what happens.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: And uh Chase Elliott completes the top five.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Plus, on top of that, when you add in Larson's sixth place finish at Richmond, of course, before he went on to win the Knoxville Nationals with a really fast private jet.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Uh William Byron's uh ninth and Alex Bowman's tenth.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, that somehow uh you just you managed to somehow get Hendrick Motorsports their first win, or not first win, uh first time you had all four cars in the top ten at the end of the race since springtime, they got 2025, which is just wild to believe.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: But our new updated picks and standings, I sold lead the cup points now by 166 over Haley, 264 over Evan, 336 over Stacy, 435 over Bernardo, 587 over Noah, 699 over Ethan, 866 over Zayn.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: I Ethan might be able to run down Noah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: Don't know about Zayn.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: I picked Logano, he won the race, got me my sixth victory of the season.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: Solid performance, led 95 laps.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: Um, Evan with Brad Keslovski, not a good race for Brad.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: If he, you know, Brad's slim chase hopes definitely took a hit there.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Ended up 26th.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Haley with Austin Dillon was very disappointing, came in, won the previous two Richmond races, really thought he'd run better, especially since he ran top 10 in Iowa, which is basically the closest track you have to Richmond.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, when Iowa was built in 2006, it was modeled based off of Richmond.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: The only difference is instead of being three-quarters of a mile, it's seven-eighths of a mile.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: But otherwise, it's pretty similar to Richmond.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: But yeah, only 19th, pretty disappointing, was not a factor all night long.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Stacy with Blaney ended up 13th, like we mentioned.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, led 88 laps from the pole, had the fastest lap, so solid day, but Blaney had like a winning car, turned into a top five car, turned into like uh a top 10 car, and then the race kind of got away from him.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: Um Noah with Chris Busher ended up 21st.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Chris Busher is having like maybe one of the most quiet seasons of all time.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Like, he's not bad, you know, necessarily.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Like, he's not horrible.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's tenth in the standings.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: It doesn't feel like he's tenth in the standings, but he's tenth in the chase standings.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: And yet it feels like he's having one of the most quiet seasons of all time.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: And it's it's just weird.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Um Ethan with Hamlin ended up fourth, and Zayn with Alex Bowman ended up tenth, so solid days for them.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: But, you know, they weren't all the I mean Hamlin had a chance uh in the middle part of this race to kind of get up there, but you know, just kind of a solid day.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: It once once we got into stage two, it was really Logano and Briscoe's race to lose, and well, they finished one too.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: But lastly, welcome back to Hot Sauce Hurricane, aka Howard Geo Selzie, and Carson Hose Farr.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I took their two nicknames, Hot Sauce and Hurricane, put them together, you know, simple, simple explanation.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: What was not simple was their weeks, their their weeks were pretty chaotic.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Selsie had an interesting week or so.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: He won his prelim night at the 360 Nationals in Knoxville and finished seventh in the championship A-Man on Saturday in 360, 8th in the Capitan Classic on Sunday, but the 410 side of things were way worse.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: He had a sleek black chili scheme, but it did not matter.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: He did not uh advance to Saturday night or I guess early Sunday mornings championship.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: A-Man is he had a hard wreck in the uh hard knocks A-Man.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: I guess the delayed to Saturday afternoon hard knocks A-Man because they also had rain that pushed that program from Friday night to Saturday afternoon.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: But had a hard wreck that took him and Brennan Crouch out of contention early, which caused them to both scratch for Saturday night's finale.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: Crouch suffered a broken right arm in the wreck, and for the high limit West Coast swing, because he races full time in high limit.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Uh it'll actually be Geo Selzi's brother, Dominic Selzy, filling in for him.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm aware that's a mouthful, but that's sprint car racing for you.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: It's just it's all over the place.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Hostabar, on the other hand, man, he really hasn't had anything go his way lately.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Ended up 31st at Iowa and Richmond, uh, as we mentioned, downshifted from fifth to third gear, 10,000 RPMs.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: The engine, you the engine was not surviving that.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: But gearbox went boom, and Hosabar ended up 37th and last out of the race.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And I mean just those two finishes alone have dropped Hosabar from fifth in the points down to 11th, which, man, that's just wild.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: And to top it off, Hospar, he was supposed to race in Tuesday night's Flow Racing Night in America race at Iowa's Marshalltown Speedway, which is only about a couple hours from where I used to live, and also tonight's race at Mason City Motor Speedway, also part of Floring Night of America.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: But the haulers showed up last night, the car never came out of the hauler last night, even though the hauler showed up.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And Hosovar scratched from last night, and he also scratched tonight.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: Although Michael Leach will drive the car tonight at least, but there wasn't ever any official reason given for the scratches on both nights.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Although, then again, Hosovar on his stream said that tonight um he had some last minute sponsor things.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: So I'm not saying I doubt him in him saying that, but it's kind of iffy.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: But tough results from both of them.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: But High Limit is back in action this week at Celsius.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, uh actually, I guess both Gio and Dominic's home state of California since they're both racing uh this week now.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: But it'll kick off the West Coast swing for High Limit and host of our debuting a pink car at New Hampshire this weekend, which is technically sponsored by Moto Casino, but everybody's talking about the kisses on the car and the the I love you ILY abbreviation on the rear bumper of the car, which I mean it's in Tabitha's handwriting.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, they they love teasing us about the relationship, slash friendship, slash whatever you want to call it, but me personally, I don't think there's really any hiding it, especially if Hostbar wins, which although his recent results don't suggest it, he finished 11th at New Hampshire last year, so we'll see what happens.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, never say never, I guess, but man, I'm it it's very interesting with that pink car.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, a lot of people like to or like to give crap on it, being that pink, it's like, why would he drive a pink car?
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: But may I remind you that Dale Earnhardt drove a pink car and uh Kyle Bush drove a pink car.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, Host Far driving a pink car too.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, sometimes pink looks good, and in my opinion, this pink scheme looks pretty dang good.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: I might have to pre-order it.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: But I'm glad to get the podcast back going finally.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: I know it's been a couple months.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Uh it's definitely been chaotic, you know, moving to Georgia and all that, but back on the the trains back on the tracks now.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: We got NASCAR Cup and trucks in New Hampshire this weekend with the trucks.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: They're going to set their 10-driver chase.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Indy cars racing on the streets of DC for the first time, and maybe only time ever.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: We'll see how it goes.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Plus, NHRA is finally back.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: Uh, they're in Brainerd, Minnesota, as there's only two races left until the countdown of the championship is set for them.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: So it's getting tight there, especially since a lot of the points battles have really tightened up uh during their West Coast swing last month in July when they were in Sonoma and Seattle.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: And uh more, we might talk high limit as well, but we'll talk about it all and more and the lot of things on the next episode, and that's all we got on tonight's episode of the Thor of Four Podcast.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: Tune in on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, check out the children's photography and the Thorfloor podcast, Instagrams, and TikToks, and uh yeah, that's all we got for tonight's return episode, and we'll see y'all next time.
