- JB: I'd like to welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with JB. And I'm your host, JB. And today I have a guest on the show, I call him my brother. I'd like to welcome Troy Brown to the to the show today. All right, before we get started, let's get the sponsor out the way. Troy: or not again. JB: today's show we'll be talking about the legacy of Aaron Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers versus Drew Brees. And also we'll do a little GOAT debate as usual. You gotta talk about LeBron versus Jordan. So on that note, let's get started with the first Aaron Rodgers question. What do you rank? No, before you get to that, I gotta ask this question. Have you ever been a New Orleans Saints fan? Troy: Bobby is a death plate. That's about the same. But once you got a phone book, kind of like the truth is not to be a pain in the ass. But I still watch it to time and time. JB: Yeah you can't help but watch that who that do you currently have a team right now or are you just a a fan of the NFL? Troy: Yeah, I I just want to. JB: So where do you have out of all the great quarterbacks in the NFL history, where do you have Aaron Ran Aaron Rodgers ranked at? Is he number top five, top ten, top fifteen? Where do you have him ranked at in Troy: So, I got him at like 7. JB: That's a good number, especially for all the quarterbacks that we didn't had in in NFL history. Yes, that's seven is real good. So I probably have by the I'd probably have him ranked I I'm with you maybe between that seven and ten, somewhere in that area. Maybe I'd probably I'd probably even go even lower to five. So I that's probably where I got him ranked at. Troy: Yeah. JB: All right, let's let's get into the Aaron Rodgers versus Drew Brees. Who do you think had a better overall career? Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees? Troy: I would say Aaron did because he had more regular season, more playoff wins but they both had the same amount of super bowls but Aaron just have a few wins then that's basically what I said. JB: That's that's one thing I would say that Aaron has more playoff wins. That's the only thing I can see that separate him. and also he he has some some great some good defense. Some some I ain't say all his years, but he had a better defense than Breeze had, but I think Breeze, man, He his stats his stats was crazy. Of course, he had a couple of years where Sainks didn't even make the playoffs. I wanna say four or five straight years, if I'm I might be wrong. Chad if I'm wrong, y'all can correct me. But I think that's the only thing I can see that's separate those two is the playoff wins and the regular season wins. But other than that, Drew had a pretty much a a good career. But I would me personally, I probably I know what all that's saying. I I would I'm going with I'm going with Drew. I know Everybody says it's not about stats, about wins and everything, but they both got that one championship. So that's that's my opinion on that one. so next question I have with two minutes left in the playoff game to get to the Super Bowl, which quarterback you trust the most to get you to that Super Bowl, to get you across that goal line? Troy: taking Aaron all day man. I'm saying that because he can either get you there with his legs or his arm. know Drew is he's not mobile enough JB: Absolutely. Troy: but he's not a bad too many quarterback but it's just something about Aaron. You know I'm saying you don't know what you're gonna get either you can rush a boom he can get out the pot he can you know run or he gonna throw the ball so I'm gonna give it to Aaron all day. JB: Yeah, I'm disagree with you on that one 'cause Drew was mobile. He probably wasn't a Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson, but Drew was because him him being only five nine or five ten, wherever he was, he couldn't see over them line that line all the time. So he had to get out their pocket a few times. But he's just not as mobile as those guys. but he was one of the the I think he's the greatest accurate quarterback ever. numbers don't lie. I know everybody was that he did five yard slants He did they call it Dunk Duncan D what it was? But hey, I think he was one of the most accurate, but and I I I would go with Drew with me. I'm gonna stick I'm gonna stick with my my Hoodak quarterback. Troy: Yeah. JB: Let's let's jump to the next segment. Let's talk about the Cleveland Browns quarterback situation. What what's your thoughts on them having three quarterbacks that they're trying to see who's gonna be the number one quarterback this season? You got Deshaun Watson, Shador Sanders, and Dylan Gaborin. What's your thoughts on that situation? Troy: I actually knew him too. Dylan Gabor is not even much part of the situation. He's just holding up a spot. Right? Because, you know, it's really about Deshaun and Shadoop. My thing is, like, yeah, Deshaun is the vet. Right? JB: Exactly. Troy: He's proven, but you know, the last, since he was in Cleveland, he really ain't do as much. But I'm giving that ball to two. JB: think I don't know I know I say this in the past, but I think for me, I know Deshaun's coming back. He he haven't he been hurt the last couple of years. But from watching the OTA how the c I know it's just OTA. Nobody's running behind the quarterbacks or trying to take their neck off. I from but watching how Deshaun Watson been throwing the ball and how he's been performing, man, this dude kinda looked like his old self back in what is Houston days, if I'm not mistaken. So I Troy: I don't take nothing from them, right? I don't, but I like to show them, but man, I put that bar in my two hands. JB: Yeah. I think this Deshaun is hungry. that's my opinion. I think he's hungry. He got something to prove that I'm still him and I wanna show y'all that I'm him. And again, I'm not taking nothing from Sanders, but he has he it was some stuff I s I know each year each year you get you get better and better. I just think that last year he he kept acting like NFL was college. Well you can run around for thirty seconds. You can't do that NFL. You got a lineman that runs Damnly are quicker than faster than most some quarterbacks. So I think he gotta fix that this season. And again, from OTAs, they both look good, but he gotta fix that. He can't keep holding that ball too long. So that's why I'm saying I read a I'm gonna go with Deshaun. Again, I saw what both of them do in the in the OTA, they both look good. But if I had to go, I'm gonna go with Deshaun. And again, like you said, I'm not sure why Gabriel, even in the goddamn discussion, is all up Troy: And I think must know why they drafted him. JB: you know what that was. That was one of those things we about to show the about to show the Sanders family. We run this. So we're gonna Troy: But the thing is, at the end of the day, you still lost. Even though he didn't get picked where he was supposed to get picked at, he still won overall. So that's the part for me, because you saw what happened with Dylan Gable, what he did. You put him in the game, he looked like crap. JB: Yeah. yeah. I agree. I again that was one of those slap in the face just to show Shrador like, Look, I don't care who your daddy is and who you is, we're gonna do this to you. Troy: I think thing is, crazy about like, it's all about, cause daddy, like, like that's the crazy part of it. Like how you get mad? Cause of what his daddy did. But as a black man, come on. JB: You know you you know what that's about, man. because everybody won't compare it to the the the mannings with what Eli and Arsh said, if he's go to San Diego, he's not gonna do this and that. So but you know they think the NFL already think Dion eagle is is is is up there with God. So again, that was one of those I'm gonna show you then Dion like they was saying that Dion was they were saying that he didn't he didn't want the sun plant but this team, that team, this team, that team. So them NFL owners, they got together from what I'm hearing. They got together. It was like, we're gonna show him. I don't care if Shador is the number one quarterback, we're gonna make him sweat it out until this draft is over. So I think again, that's what that was. That was just a we're gonna show Dion who the player ended, we're gonna show Dion and the future people who try this. we that we we still run this this NFL as as owners. Troy: Yeah, but I thought it hurt the NFL more than anything because everybody was still running with DeSantis. He got all the A-tees right now. JB: I don't know I'm gonna say I think it I don't think it hurt it because ratings. Every week they wanted to see Shador, like they wanna see what Cleveland was gonna do. Let's see if is Shador gonna start this week. Let's see he's gonna start this week, let's see he's gonna do this. 'Cause so everybody kept watching every week just to see that he when he was gonna play. So I think and also people's coming to the games. It wasn't hurting the NFL pockets. Troy: think anything is. JB: Think I'm about to tell you this boy. Think about this. He had the number one selling jersey in NFL. So it wasn't hurt. It wasn't hurting the Cleveland at all. So it 'cause that's what that's that's what I think. So I I don't think it hurt the team. It just they wanted to tune in every week to see when his turn. So when he did get his turn, that's when it really blew up. Like about time and this and that, he should have been did it. So I I think that's how that one was. Troy: Right. And then the thing is when he started playing... you saw the difference between him and Gabriel, it wasn't even much close. And the only reason why I feel like Gabriel went before him because of the whole situation, but in college, Gabriel, even though he was on a way better team, his number still wasn't what Shadour was. And Shadour didn't have an offensive line, and his defense was what Narl did. JB: Right. Again, you know how they go like we just was talking about. That's all about we're gonna teach Dion and the Sanders a lesson. Okay, there's there's been some some trade rumors about Shador. They're saying that Cleveland is has opened the door for offers. Do you think Cleveland moving if if this happens, you think Cleveland moving away from them is a smart move? Or you think it's a good move for Shador to get a I wanna say fresh start. He don't to deal with all the stuff that wins that he went through. Hope he can get to a team that really appreciates his talent and appreciate him. Troy: I felt like if it would happen, should have been before training camp. They should have given him where he had the off season and everything else to, you know, go do what he, you know, get aggravated with a different team. But going in like, you know what But he's about to start. They might have go to training camp within the next, what, week and a half, two weeks? So, you know, so. JB: What Yeah, a couple of Troy: I think if they was going to do that, should have been there. JB: Yeah. This I think this again this what I think about it. What happened was they wanted to showcase him. They wanted to s they wanted everybody to see that, hey, this is what you getting if you send if you give me an offer for Shador. You see that he's on his accuracy, because again, like I was saying earlier, him Deshaun was neck and neck in a from the video I seen. But Sanders was man, he was putting the ball there, deep, short routes. He looked real good. So I think that helped. Cleveland out a little bit on again, yes, if these trade rumors are are real, I think it helped Cleveland out if they wanted to pursue that up what they want. They want to pursue that opportunity to trade him. But I think that'll be it'll be crazy to trade him because I feel like he is the future quarterback. I'm not sure I'm not sure it's something to do with the owners, but nowhere in the world I would have this young man on a trading block. Troy: I am almost done. JB: Because of personal feelings. Again, if he's gonna bring money to my team and have me winning, 'cause he had some unbelievable unbelievable games last year, especially against my nine's. Man, he has some. Even other teams, he had some good games, but it's just that, you know, he didn't finish it. But he has some he has some up and downs. That's that's part of being a rookie. So yeah, I I think I think Cleveland Browns GM and and the owners making a horrible mistake. Troy: But then with that, he went in last year, where he was fourth on the depth chart, you ain't given him no preseason reps. He wasn't giving him nothing. JB: Right. Troy: You know, and my thing is when he got in, when you first got there, what you had four quarterbacks, was number four. You got rid of the first quarterback. You bring in another quarterback. JB: I forgot Flacco. I forgot Flacco was there. I I think there was Flacco. Troy: You know, you have Flacco, you know what saying? You started Flacco, why is Flacco still in the You you try to, you know, you just try to, oh yeah, we're going to put Dylan, like where did Dylan did anything to prove like he can be the starter? Like, Dylan ain't proven that. JB: Not at all. So Troy: And then you had the head, Siddor, not getting no reps with the ones, but that's when you're supposed to get your reps in during practice, but you're not getting no, no reps, nothing. Then you want to throw them in the game. You want to them in a, in a, in in a pool, in a deep end and let's see what you're going to do. JB: At all. Exactly. And then he was going then they threw him in that Lions then with some I believe some of the best defenses he had to go against at the time. Troy: He went against the Raiders. He went against, you know what saying? He was going against and like he was, you know what I'm saying? Proving himself like, all right, but you put Dylan in there, Dylan ain't do nothing. JB: So on that note, we're gonna take a quick commercial break and we'll be right back after this message. I'd like to welcome everybody back to the from the commercials break. On this segment here, we're gonna be talking NFL off season. What's the biggest surprise so far, the off season that you've seen in the NBA? Troy: that youngness, I wouldn't have thought of youngness, mainly with Gillian Brown with Boston. Like, I don't know, why would you get rid of Gillian? You know, you just gave him all that money and you get rid of him. Like, that's the crazy point about that. And then my thing is like, you get rid of him, but you keep, you keep tailing him. Like how that go. JB: Exactly. I I think I don't like to talk politics, but it is a big politic thing with Jelly and Brown. just 'cause he speaks his mind, they didn't like a lot of stuff he's saying from you know, Nike is one of the biggest NBA endorsements. You know, him not being him not being on a on Olympic team with some BS. This man was the one of the best players in the NBA that year and he can't get a spot on a NBA, I mean the US the US team last year? Come on, man. That's why I say I tried to stay right from the politics part of it, but it is what it is. This that's that's that shut up and shoot shut up and shoot stuff they we wanted a lot of these professional athletes to do. And they didn't like that how he spoke his mind. So that's why he was thinking Troy: I just saw something in him where they don't want an educated athlete. And that's what he is. He's an educated, black athlete. But hopefully, city of brotherly love. JB: Yeah. I th I think he I think he should be where he's going now, I'm I'm just hoping that he's able to able to just play, man. 'Cause he he's we're gonna get to that part. but he's I think him going to Philly, it's still not his team. 'Cause again, remember you got Maxi, B so you still don't know what what your boy gonna do on Mr Mr. Goat. So We still don't know what he gonna do. Which blockbust and trade changed the NBA from the LaMelo to the one we the two that we just talked about and and a couple of other trades, but which blockbuster trade you think changed the NBA the most? Troy: you me, it's Lamello going to Minnesota, where him and Anthony, the thing is Anthony JB: Yeah, Troy: needed that second person. Because I feel like he didn't really have that. And then again, with Lamello, needed somebody else who can take it off him. I think so with them two together. JB: My concrete down. Troy: think that's gonna be a good one. JB: Yeah, I th I think the the Giannis one, the Giannis to Miami, I think that was the big one for me. 'Cause you got Bam was coming Bam been coming to his own for the last couple of years. And yes last year was this big hey, I'm I'm I'm I'm coming, I'm I'm almost up there. And then you add Giannis to the so that front lineup gonna be nice. And then they have s they have some nice little talent around them and of course when they still trying to do something. As far as me, my opinion with the the Minnesota thing. Yeah, and needed some help. He needed somebody else that can create create their own shot. you traded a defensive player I forgot his name, Reed. Troy: yeah, yeah, but Reed was a good officer player too. JB: Yeah, exactly. He you traded a a a good all around player in ball. He's not even top fifty in steals. I looked I checked his stats on defense. Troy: Yeah, so you'll get more offensive help then you you're going to the defense so I get it JB: Yeah, and that's what he was missing 'cause they traded Randall. Randall gone. He was he was I think the second was he the second or third best offensive player on the team. So that you're right, you got somebody who can create their own stuff, a real ball hander, 'cause Ant sometimes had to take it down the court and and try to and create his own shot. So it's gonna I think it's gonna be fifty fifty for me. But yeah, I I would say that I my biggest I think Miami could have won Troy: Yeah. Right. JB: Well my opinion won that one. Troy: Nah. JB: I got a I got a question for you, you gotta put your thinking cap on. Probably don't even think probably don't even have to put it on. Compare today's NBA to the NBA twenty years ago, what's the biggest difference that you see? Troy: man that guy's eating. They do all that flopping, know, everybody looking for a foul. You know, so I've met the game back in the days and so much better, you know, like you played defense, offense, you know, you weren't scoring 120 points and 130 points a game, you know? So you score a hundred points, man. That was, that was something. But now, and that... JB: twenty Okay. yeah, you Troy: Everybody wants you to belong. You know, so I'm more of an old school. Give me that that early 2000s to, you the names. That's the basketball. I like to watch. JB: I'm I'm with you. I like the I like the game the the back in the nineties and the early two thousands. Like you said, this this game now today, again, it's it's entertaining, but like you said, it's soft. And it's just too many doggone threes. I'm watching the the the the the finals. Spurs kept coming down there, shooting threes, shooting threes. You got this alien. you got this alien. Give him the ball. I know he's only a hundred and five pounds, but It was a couple of times they didn't came, they came down, didn't get even let the man touch the ball. Shoot the three, shoot the three. And that's that game they came back from. New York came back from 28 percent or 29 percent. Everything was three, three, three. And a year before that, somebody lost like that in the playoffs. So I I think that three print contest, like we talked about on another show, that Steph changed the game, got everybody shooting threes. Yeah, give me give me that old school, like you said, MJ in the post, Cobe in the post, Melo Camelo in the post. Man, I like that type of stuff. Troy: Banana dough, JB: Big shack, but not Troy: Bag to the basket man, a lot of the big men don't know how to do that. That's why Wimby, you know what saying, if you saw what New York did, really crushed him. Because other than that, he don't know how to put his bag to the basket. JB: He couldn't even get off the free throw line on a free throw shot. And he was at the front man, it was bullying him. And he was supposed to be the main guy in the front. So yeah, I'm I'm with you on that, man. The NBA just so different and I I understand ratings, the num people like scoring. But at the same time, show me some defense. I I don't see a hundred and thirty, a hundred and forty punch every game. Unless it's a good one the whole game. Troy: Bye. I might say that's why I started watching the All-Star game because it's really, you you score 160 points in the All-Star game. Like nobody playing defense. You know, so why watch that? Like I remember being young, used to be in All-Star weekend was the thing to watch. From everything, you want to watch the All-Star weekend. JB: Exactly. Troy: I can't tell you the last time I watched the All-Star League game. That's like the NFL or when they used to have Pro Bowl. I ain't watched a Pro Bowl, especially when they want to do flag football. I haven't watched that in years. Once it came from Hawaii, I cut it JB: I think it's I think it's all about their brand. Nobody won't nobody wants to be on ESPN getting highlighted for NBA. Nobody wanna get dunked on. Because back then you had Shaq Duncan on David Robertson, you mutumbo, morning. Nobody wants to be highlighted. Everybody's about their brand. Same thing in NFL. It's that brand. you're not about to embarrass me. You're not about to do this or that. But you're supposed to be you're supposed to wanna go against the greatest, like MJ Magic and Kobe them did back in the days. So I think I'm with you on that one. Well next question I have for you, what's one thing that's better in today's NBA game? That one thing Troy: I don't think so. JB: I say, we just talked about scoring. Troy: I don't like that. you know, all the shooting. know what I'm saying? I like the old school ball, you know. The roughness of it, the toughness. Today's game is just too hard. JB: Yeah. I I like my I like like we talked about, I like the old school, but some games I didn't like that the score was seventy five to seventy three. God damn. So man. Troy: I like that. Give me that. Give me that. With some ice donk and you know, me that. But how the game is today. JB: Yeah. Yeah, I I think that's the only thing I can say that's better is the scoring. Other than that, 'cause everybody shoot the threes, even the coach shooting the three from the from from the sideline. So everybody shooting three. What's that one thing you feel as missing about the old school, the old NBA to now? And I think we I think you said it earlier. Say tough but toughness. You did say that. Troy: Yeah, you know, the kids with all the flies in them. You know, they crying for everything. JB: to me what's crazy is that all this role management in they they continue Troy: Oh man, I just got lied at. I hate that. JB: Right. And they continue to talk about that the 'cause you hear in today's players talking a lot of disrespect the old school players. They're saying that they're more athletic, they're more talented. Hey, if you're more talented in in the in also you got better treatment as far as medicine and physical therapy or whatever whatever you need to get your body together, why you not playing that four eighty two games? These g these guys didn't it was it was probably averaging on them most seventy five to eighty two games. Some of play a lot of played eighty two games. So I think that's that's what they're missing, that toughness and I hate that dog on Troy: What I like about what Jordan said was, I'm going go ahead and rest when somebody, you know, you know what saying, a nice amount of money to come see me play and I'm going go to they sit and I'm going sit on a bench. Now they come to see me play. So why not play? So I'm spending $100, $200 to come see you, but you sitting on a bench in a suit. Like, nah. JB: I just Right. Troy: Very nice. JB: Imagine like like the the average person, you know the average person these days, you know, it they they they have to earn they earn their money on their jobs and you taking your s your your son to a game to see his favorite player and he's on the sideline like you just said in the suit with no injuries or anything. He just he just need role management 'cause he just played a back to back. So yeah, that's that's That's another thing that we we that's killing the game today. I d I hate that rules management. Yeah. Troy: Yeah, definitely. That's one of the parts of the NBA I know. JB: Right. What you think about all this this dude here, LeBron, with the holding the NF in the NBA Hawks is always he he always wanna he always have to make his way he's going at. I don't know, I'm trying to get the words to say, but he always gotta make it like he do where he had people wanting it. He already know where he's wanna be. He knew this from when the season ended, I think. But he got to make everybody wait, wait, wait, wait. And I think he liked the hype of it, of the fans trying to figure out where he's going, where he's going. So what do you think about how he's handling that situation? Think it's good for the league or you think it's just it is what it is? Troy: You know, thing is, what are you still in the NBA? Why you can't go and retire? What do you have to prove? You're never gonna be the GOAT. You're not the best player. For me, you're like top five. You ain't one, two, and three. You know, like five, six, you know. JB: Yeah. Troy: because you can't you can't be John, can't be COVID, so. And right now, I got stuff at 3. JB: I th again I I I I hate the situation. I like I hate why he hold the ho the league Hawkes Hawkses. I But I think whatever team he goes to and it and it's and it's crazy that I know we're gonna get into some more of this go discussion, but it's just crazy to me that he Troy: Most definitely. JB: He keeps stacking the team and everybody wants to talk about I I I've been I've been looking at a lot of people talking about the old school how they stack their teams too. But everywhere this dude go, he didn't play with at least I had to say at least seven Hall of Famers. Maybe eight. Could be nine that I think. Troy: But the thing is, every year he cried. Like when he won the championship, then the next year he come back and say, I have no help. Or he was too tired of having. Dude, you went to the playoffs how many times? Championship too many times. And every year you gotta go get somebody else to help you. And you're supposed to be the GOAT. That's what you want to crown you. yourself as, but you always, you know, gotta go get somebody else because you can't be, you know, that, that goat. JB: Yeah. Yeah. I I'm with you. it just to me, like I we like we like I said, it he he loves attention. And man, play the play the game. No way in the you never heard MJ say I'm the goat. You never heard I don't think I even heard Magic or Kareem say they're goat. I never even Kobe never said it. You know, and Kobe was one of the I don't call him cocky, but you know Kobe, my Mambo Mattaly, Kobe I never heard him say he the goat. So I think that should be You should never have to crown yourself. Let us let us make that decision. Troy: I saw something to be next when they were talking about COVID. COVID, was like a one-on-one, who can beat you? And he was like, B.B. Now that's what I do. He was like, only person. And he was like, and he over me. So ain't nobody else can beat him. So. JB: It is. All right. So on that note, we're gonna take a quick commercial break and we'll be right back after this message. welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with J B. And I'm your host, J B. And again, we have guests on today's show, Troy. And we're about to hop into the next segment. I got five on it. Give me your top five NFL cornerbacks of all time. Troy: So you know the goat. I got Dion. I got Champ. I got Woodson. I got Reevis. JB: Yeah. Troy: Mmm. Ahhhh. I don't know. I don't know about that shit. JB: Mm-hmm. Yeah, they got probably gotta go back a little old school. See, I'll give you my top five. We can come back to your the last one. My top five, of course, would be Dion. Dion number one, of course. I'm gonna say that. I gotta go Revis. Gotta go Charles Woodson. Let's see who else I can throw in there. Probably. Troy: Briarwoods. JB: Yeah, that's who that's who I have him. He was well, he was my number five, Rod Rod Woodson. And if I wanna I can if the last one can be mm, I can go Ani Anigas Williams or Daryl Green. That'll probably be That boy name. Damn, I can't think no. Yeah, I had to go old s I'm gonna I'm gonna keep mine old school. I'm gonna go with those five right there. I'm trying to think of somebody more updated. But my updating would be probably Reeves and he and Reeves been gone for a couple of years. That'll be mine. You said what's gonna be your fifth one? Troy: Yeah, I'll put Char- I'll put Rod in there. JB: What's the top five quarterbacks of all time? Troy: Water bag. Let's see, Tom, Peyton, Aaron, Aaron. JB: Mm-hmm. Troy: Not paying me. I don't know. JB: One more. But these questions make you think they got a lot of quarterbacks, but your greatest. Troy: I put Aaron in the top five, but he never in the top five. You got to, I don't know, because you have so many of them. How could you really give a top five? JB: trying to see what my top five would be almost the same. I probably I would go in this order. I'll go Tom Brady, Joe Montana. I I give Peyton at edge over I say Peyton number three. Drew Breeze at five at four and my fifth one probably would be I wanna say I wanna put Patrick in there, Mahom Patrick, but his he's still writing his story. But what he's done so far is he did a lot better than what a lot of other NFL quarterbacks who been in the league forever haven't done. Because again, I will say Pat I wanna say Patrick, but I can go I go John Elway. That'd be my fifth one. Troy: Thank JB: he might move up to that third spot. I'm not putting it was hard for me to put time over Joe Montana. I'm not saying 'cause I'm a Niners fan, but that'll be my top five right there. Troy: Yeah. JB: What's your top five running backs? Troy: There are so many JB: Mm-hmm. Troy: pal-five with running backs because, you got so many of them. Like, I like Edwin James, you know, Edwin James, Marshall Fogg. Chris Johnson. to the world. Jerome Battis. JB: What's Troy: you To be continued... JB: Yeah. Troy: Mmm, good pie. Who you got? JB: Yeah. I have Barry Sanders. Troy: I forgot about Barry. Yeah, I got a poor Barry. I forgot about Barry. You got a poor old Barry. Williams? You know, Ricky? Williams. JB: You gotta put B Sanders in it. I got buried. Which one? He in my he's not he not in my Yeah that's it is Ricky was nice. but I think my I think my top five would probably be it'd be Barry, Marshall Falk. I like those all around running backs, me. Barry, Marshall Falk, I can I can throw L T and L Damius Thompson Thompson. Troy: might not be top 5, but it really was. I all about LT. JB: I'll probably go Adrian Peterson and that fifth one. I'm trying to think of something old school. See, Bo, everybody talked Bo, but Bo didn't have enough years for me. No injury. So I can I probably go there. I wanna say Emmett Smith. Troy: Yeah, definitely. JB: I see Eastmith. No everybody else talking about his offensive line, but he had to get there. but Barry Barry don't retire. Heman don't get that record. Y'all know that. Troy: Yeah. Yeah, definitely. JB: All right. Let's move on to the NBA. Give me your top five any position. Troy: So I got Jordan, Cody, Harrison. Check. don't. JB: nice lineup. I like that. I got you know I got Jordan. Duncan, Shaq. I gotta throw my dog Scotty in there. In Troy: You're the only person I know about that sky that dark. You're the only person I know who about sky that dark. JB: Hey man, like I said, my top five and save the dude the dude did. See people they that's cause they they everybody is is LeBron, it's LeBron that. If you besides LeBron, I I can't you can you can throw K D in there too, but let me see. My last one would probably be I would say Magic. I I go Magic Johnson I forgot about CP three mine, 'cause he to me, that's my goal of prank guards. I know he ain't win no championship, but that's my prank guard right there of all time. CP three. Troy: And now for me, the Allied Rander. JB: Yeah. I like Troy: So, it's my point. JB: So I think that'll be my top five. Like I said, Mike, Scotty, Shaq, Duncan, and I said Pippin. Yeah, Pippen and C P three. That'll be mine. Top five greatest rebounders of all time. Troy: We know who number one is. The worm. You know? You know, I got Rodman, Gwarkly, um... Little Shag. Uh... Peter Robinson. JB: Thank you. Yeah, two more. No, we got one more. Troy: and my timbre. JB: Okay. Not a bad one. I think I'll go of course to on Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace. Troy: Okay. JB: Charles Barkley. That one they will go on. Yes, I thought Shaq, you know. I'm trying to think somebody in the that's not too old school. AC Green. He was a good rebounder. Troy: And what's called the White House. JB: Yeah, Dwight. Got about him. Honorable mention. So Dwight Howard. That's next top five I got. This will be the last one of our top five. Give me your top five home run hitters. Troy: We got the kid, Kenny Griffin. We got Bob McGuire, Sam Sosa. We got... JB: Yeah. Mm. Troy: Barry. That should be number two. And judge. JB: Yep. Yeah, that that'd be I think we probably pretty much had the same one 'cause I Barry Bonds. Well King Griffin, like I I say my own I love King Griffin. King Griffin, Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, Yeah. Yeah, Sammy I forgot about Sammy. he'll be A Rod. I wanna say A Rod. Troy: Yeah, you know like that, you know, but he was, they were all JB: Yeah, I that's but that'd be my that that's taking my home run 'cause you made me think about that, you're right. So I I guess like you said, Judge, that that'd be my top five right there. All right, let's move on to the next seminar call the rapid fire. These questions here you gotta go quick off the top. And this is gonna this should be a a good form. Let's go start with the NFL. Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady? Troy: probably. JB: Tom Brady for me too. Dan Marino or Josh Allen? with you, same here. Peyton Manny or Lamar Jackson. Troy: Great. JB: Same yeah. Barry Sanders or Kristen McCaffrey. Any yeah. Bo Jackson or Marshall Falk. What you got on that? Troy: Take your fourth hand turn. JB: Hell yeah, give me fork all the time. Randy Moss or Jamal Chase? Troy: Right. I love me some old B. B. J. That's that's my guy. I'm glad he got an opportunity to play again. So yeah, but not like JB: Yeah. Yeah that that boy looking the the the video he kept putting out the to promote himself from the workouts to he's still showing that he got that speed and Odell he deserved that chance. yeah. Rob Grounkowski, if I say Rob Graukoski, you talking about Rob Travis Kelsey. Troy: Yes, sir. I'll you what, why not? JB: Lawrence Taylor Michael Parson Prime Cam Newton or Prime Lamar Jackson. This is vote when they won their MVPs. Troy: Aw man, take me can. Come on man. Great. Sabre, can was different. JB: yeah, I'm going Superman too. Yeah, that boy. I'm with you on that one. Adrian Prime Adrian Peterson or Prime or Derek Derrick Derrick Henry. Troy: to get an AP. JB: Same. This one you gotta think about this one. So put your thinking hat on. Deion Sanders at the Rail Revis Troy: I'm taking DM and prime, man. Ain't nobody coming over prime, bruh. JB: What we talking? Prime? Talking talking prime? He need to go ahead and re We said he need to go ahead and change the name to Prime. This is prime position. Next question I got for you, NBA. Magic Johnson or Steph Curry? Troy: Huh. Alright. See you next time. I'm taking stuff. Because the reason why I'm saying I'm taking stuff is because death, you know, sometimes he take like two or three people to try to guard him. Magic wasn't you know, and then, you know, even when Steph touched the ball, know, the attention is on him. Magic wasn't like that. Magic was a dog, but he wasn't a dog like that. JB: All right. Let's do this. We're gonna we're gonna say all the people that the rest of the people that we're talking about in today's game. So so we're gonna say that. So you right on Alan. We're gonna do that. I'll say Steph. And we was again we was playing back then I'd be magic, but I go with you with I'm with that, Steph. MJ or Lebr LeBron. Troy: Man. I don't know why you even had that question. JB: I gotta have fun with you. I knew I already knew it, but I gotta I gotta mess with you. But you'll be surprised the the amount of people that would say LeBron, which I'm not sure they think. Troy: This is my son. My son is wonderful. But I, man, let's, the, the brand can hold George extra. JB: Hey, I Right. I had the same kind of search with Jeremy. he to him, LeBron's the goat. I'm like, you can tell y'all young. Y'all don't but it for their for their fence, they didn't see MJ play. It saw highlights. Shaq or Joker? Troy: You can hold the gun strap. Yeah. Right. Check. JB: Check. Colby or Kevin Durant? Troy: over. JB: Isaiah Thomas or Kyrie Irving. Troy: curry. JB: Or today's game. I think I'll sell can play today's game. Give me Zeke. Zeke. Well give me Zeke Troy: Nah, I'm taking cards. JB: Give me Zeke Zeke Zeke's sure he can lead a team. Kyrie couldn't lead a team in today's game. Troy: But I just think he's a quiet leader. He's not the vocal, I put the team on my back type of leader. So I just think he's just a school. I'm just gonna play my game. I'm quiet, so that's what I like about Kyrie. JB: What where they got him at though? When he was a leader, a quiet leader in Boston, they got him nowhere. LeBron got there. I know he's a rookie back then, didn't get him nowhere. I know he'd been injured in Dallas, but give me Zeke, I always give me Zeke, Zeke proven already. The nineteen ninety six Bulls are the 2017 Golden State Warriors. Troy: yeah. Yeah. those are big. The thing is, who can check? Everybody on the ball. JB: Yeah, only one I can see doing something. We're just talking starting five. Jade Mine might have a nah he 'cause Robin's gonna have Robin's gonna be having him Troy: Nah. JB: I can't see nothing. Give me both day. Troy: You can And I think you know, they be talking about all man. Man, listen that boys team that started five JB: yeah. 'Cause you wanna if you wanna go match up, match up, 'cause I I'll have of course MJ gonna be on on Steph. He got Steph gonna have to run then I get Troy: No. No. I put an apple on stuff. JB: Dá uma roupa. Troy: I'm putting Jordan on play. JB: See. I would like to see that, but I think I would put only I put MJ on Curry because MJ was a quicker defender to me than my to me than Harper. Now I put Harper on on on Clay and I put Scotty on probably who the he who they was it Durant. Yeah, I put Scotty on Durant. Troy: the right. JB: That's gonna be a good matchup. The 2012 Heat are the two thousand three Spurs. And for the Heat, you know they had LeBron, D Wade, Boss, and the and Spurs had Duncan, Genobly, Parker. Troy: I'm gonna tell you, only reason they get at the eaters first is because Greg took all the big men out and he have no big men in him and that's how Ray Allen hit the shot. Come on man. I put spurs. JB: Yeah, that 2000 Spurs, 2003 Spurs team was was was special. I'm gonna go Spurs because they they had some talent from the starting fives to the to the to the venture. Remember Genobli wasn't even starting. Now I wanna say was Sean Elliott on that team? Sean Elliott, Robert Ory. who else they had on that team I can think of? I can't think of it off top, but they had a Spurs had a nice team. So I Troy: Right. I think so. Yeah, move it. JB: Give me gimme Spurs on that one. With today's NBA, who do you see the face of the NBA? You got players like Victor, you got Ant Ant Man. I don't wanna I don't know if K D's up there, 'cause K D been around. So who you got the the face of the NBA right now? Troy: SG Victor and JB: Yeah. Troy: To me, that's the district, really. Everybody else is kind of older. My guy in Indiana. JB: Yeah. one who had the the one who pulled the one who told us ACL, right? Hubert. not Hubert. I know you I know exactly what you're talking about. Yeah. Yeah. Troy: Yeah. Yeah, guy, yeah, yeah, he got like, you know, he got some games. JB: Right. I I'm with I I I'm with you. I think it's well me, I think is if I had to pick one it's gonna be Ant Man. I like his confidence. He if I'm if I'm if I'm gonna see a movie, he got everything I wanna see in the movie. From his cockiness to I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that. He loved talking this shit. So Troy: But my thing is, is all that is what I face in the end. Can hear a little too. I don't want to see no burn. never find for it, you know, and it's off in this off the court, you know, things don't happen. JB: Yeah. Yeah, that's that that's true. You gotta think about that too. You wanna say the face of the NBA. And in that case, you wanna say the face of the NBA, I I go Luca. Luca International. I would say even though SGA is the same too, he but I give I'm gonna say face of the NBA, I'm say Luca. That's that's what I'm gonna go with. Troy: I would say H.E.A. and Victor, you know, but I would like, you know what saying, my other boys to do it, you know, you can't have all that off the court things too. but you know, and a good player though, you know, he's trying to prove it. So. JB: Yeah, I d I just I just like something about this cock and this and then he backs it up. So that's what I like about it. All right. Next question I got. What's one team you secretly watch and enjoy watching? Troy: and what sport. JB: Any sport. This is in this this question is here for any sports. Troy: I like to watch the Eagles play. You know, like that's, you know, that's like one of the teams I like to watch in the NFL. That's like, you know, that team. You know. Basketball is always like the warriors. baseball, you know, the Yankees and the Braves. JB: Right. I think for me, well ain't no secret, I love watching the Cowboys lose and get disappointed in the playoffs. That's like man, that's a dream. Troy: I think everybody like them who's not from Texas. JB: Right, you just don't know. I love that. everybody out here bumping Wheatham boys to how quiet it is after after the the first round of playoffs, man, that's that's like man, that's like a gift. So I I see I don't have it's no secret, but I love seeing the Cowboys fans dis it's more I like to see the fans disappointed, man. That's that's beautiful for me. Which popular athlete are you hire on? Troy: Yeah. JB: Than most fans. Like that at that at least be man, I'm telling y'all, y'all trippin'. This dude is shit. He can do this, he can do that. Y'all sleeping on him. Troy: But he retired in that Carmelo. JB: yeah, you know me. Troy: That was my dude. I still like that. You know, but the thing is he don't be getting, he ain't get the flowers like he was supposed to. You know, but. Because I think the reason why he ain't gonna get them because he came out in the same class as LeVine, which he should have run rookie of the year, but they gave it to LeVine. Anywho. JB: I I would say, you know me, like Scotty. Cause everybody thinks when you think championship teams, the first thing you say is Jordan and the Bulls. Again, Jordan not winning six championships without Scotty. And I talked about this on another show. If you could tell me one player, if you take Scotty off that team back then, one player in that league that'll did everything this man did, hey, I'm listening. Cause back then in through the nineties, the next best player to the MJ was Drexler. Can't put Barkley there because you're gonna have to remove Harvest Grant or Dennis Rodman. I'm trying to think about back in the nineties who else they had that was a a star like those guys. So I think Scotty he he get his flowers, but he don't get his flowers. Again, I know the stuff that he's doing off the court right now in the media is is taking a lot from his legacy. But Scotty to me is the guy who every time they talk about the Bulls, is Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan. But hey, Without Scotty, Troy: I agree JB: he ain't getting without six rings. Troy: with that. JB: That's that's my opinion on that one. I know this one of your favorite ones, yeah. What's which superstar do you do what superstar do you think get too much praise? Troy: La Cry Man, La Bomb, he get too much, La Cry and La Bomb, like all that go talking. But to me that's a heater all in one. You can say KD, but KD, you saw once he left the Warriors, all that went away. He can't catch a cold. So, or you can say change hard. JB: That's that's who I was about to come back with. that's what I was actually about to say, James Harden. I was trying to see think of him. I was trying to step out the NBA and think NFL or something, but I'm James Harden'd be for me, he get so much praise, but when it's time for that big game Troy: But what you started seeing with James Harden, I'm not really no fan because when he was an OKC, what he did, like, yeah, he was that sixth man, but he's a regular season player. Once you get into the playoffs, but you started out in Cleveland this year. JB: Yeah. Yeah, I was just about to say he just about to say 'cause if he'd stepped up, he'd have been half the p half the James Harden that got him there, Cleveland probably had a better chance. So I'm with you on that. James Harden for me. Troy: And you got it. Go. JB: Right. If you can if you can witness one sporting event in history live, what would it be? Troy: I haven't seen mostly everything live so far. UGH. Suck. JB: I hate I missed a couple of games out here. And some of my fr friends had well, some people I know had free tickets. I would say I wanna be at a a Super Bowl live. I've been to a lot of football games, especially back in New Orleans. You know, he used to give tickets out for just showing up at So we always had I would yeah, I would say actually two things. I would say the Super Bowl in a in a college a college football game like a what's a what's a big Troy: you I'll let you man, dead darling. JB: Yeah. Yeah, LSU and Bam, I would love to be at a g at that game. i actu LSU and Florida, anybody in that thing, but I think Bam is more Troy: But be in a lawsuit. JB: Yeah, gotta be at the valley. I'm with you. Right. If you can watch one player if you can watch one player come out of retirement to watch one game, him in him in his prime, who would that be? Of any sport. Troy: shit JB: Yeah. Troy: For me, almost the I want to see Carmelo. I don't think I've ever really gotten to see him play live. JB: I would I was I would say I would wanna see Deion Sanders go against these receivers today. I I that's what I would want to see. That one player that come out of retirement in his prime, the best when he was his well, he was his best all his doggone career, but I would want to see Deion Santa go against a lot of those. I would love to see him line up against Megatron, line up against Randy Moss when he was healthy, or go against Chase, Jefferson, the list can go on and on. So I would love to see Dion go up against these receivers that we have today's game. Troy: I ain't gonna lie, but I would like to see like the, like, you my top five corners go up against some of these, these receiver D's. They like, I don't think man like champ, Woodson, I don't think none of these boys would, I don't think they would do anything against. JB: Man, you're gonna have me steal that on my next show. That's a good one there. That'll be that them top five. Cause I would Yeah, give me Revis, Champ, and Dion a good man, damn. That that'll be a that'll be good. 'Cause Woodson was on that edge when he before he came He was on the I he became a safety toward the end of his career, but Prime Woodson was a beast. Troy: I love you. I love you. against you. But how you ask? How you ask? And listen, it didn't have every as my safety and Sean tell. JB: Yeah, give me, you know, give me Ed Reid and Ryan Dawkins. That's my that's my goal that's my goal cornerbacks. I mean I was present safeties. Troy: That's it. That's it. Read and shine. You know, know, Sean was trying to kill you back. JB: The head off. Headbuster. Thanks, but I know we're gonna take a quick commercial and we got one segment left. And I'm gonna have Troy build me his res his Boltron of receivers. Troy: Yeah. JB: I'd like to welcome everybody back to Sports Talk with J B. And if you're still hanging around with us, I appreciate y'all for going through the show with us. So I'm gonna have Troy build his Bowtron of receivers. that in that category is speed, size, route running, hands, yours after the catch, physical, blocking. So give me your, let's start with number one, give me your size. What's that receiver Troy: a lot of people would probably say Megatron, but to me I think he was too big. I'm gonna go with Brandon. JB: Was one? Troy: Landy Mars, I go inside. JB: Give me give me teal. I like Troy: I like his stature, but I just felt like he was, you know, I'm saying just too big. You know, like Randy was a nice size, you know? So that's why I would say Randy. JB: Yeah. We I I would say reason why you you right on the album, but the reason why I wouldn't say Randy for me, 'cause I wanna see if he can get away from that linebacker or that safety that's that's trying to tackle him. I know you got the long ons, but I've seen Teal Derrick Henry people before. they think they can So that's what I would say. Speed. Troy: Yeah, both are. JB: Yeah. Troy: Frank! JB: man, gimme gimme cheeta as as speed as a receiver. Troy: He was good at lapping man. And then like, Randy. Randy ran one like a full three. You know? JB: And you know Cheetah, Cheetah doing some Olympics type stuff, man. Give me Cheetah all day. Troy: Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm out. I'll take, take rain. JB: I I I gotta go cheat on that one. Route running. This should be fun. Troy: you at the end. JB: That's nice. Give me I want to say Marvin Harrison. Harrison. I love that I could have went him or Tori Hope. So I would he's boy. Yeah, give me I'm I'm sticking old school. Give me Marvis Harris Marvis Marvis Harrison. Hands. Troy: Going with Jerry. JB: Yeah. Give me Chris Carter all day. That that's that dude hands. See Rice had Rice Rice had that drop that in his beginning of his career, they call it the slippery hands. He dropped a couple here and there, but Chris Carter, everything that comes to every catch. Physicality. Troy: I'm going with you. Thank you. See you. JB: Yeah, I'm with you on the album T O. And the last question I have for you blocking. The best blocker. Yeah. Troy: I don't know who you got. JB: I'm I'm gonna go hand Heinz Ward 'cause that's what he was known for. I've seen Heinz. It was dirty, but man, Heinz, I saw Hines block received I mean cornerbacks twenty yards down the field. So that so Based on all these all these categories we just pick, what's your number one greatest of all time wide receiver? You had to pick that one receiver. Troy: Jerry. JB: Yep. They go. J R Troy: We have time for our season's on though. JB: that's that's Jerry Moss. in in order, I'm gonna start over. Jerry T O Moss shit. I gotta put Megatron in there. And that last one I would say I can go Antoine Borwick. not Antoine, Fit Fitzgerald. Gerald Gerald Fit I'm saying this right? Fitzgerald. Troy: So what are writing a chose or what think you're writing? JB: What should be my honorable Yeah, he'd be he'd be my number six receiver. I know I'm I'm gonna say I'll give Ocho Ocho six, six or seven. I'll give him that. Because he man, Ocho, yeah, if we go back in his prime in his Cincinnati days, I think everything he did afterwards was just an act to me. From the New England and New England, Miami. That wasn't the same Ocho. So that's why I went off a career jet long. And even though Troy: Yeah JB: Megatron only played nine years, but what he did in them nine years. And we all know what Harry Fajero did. But and I would say if I had to give a we can add this to the question. If I would say most underrated receiver to me of all time, that's Marcus Coaston. Man, I I know I talked about this before, but that dude was see he he never made a he never made a Pro Bowl. And again, I understand who is he was going against. I know Corey brought that up last time, but at the same time Troy: Yeah. yeah, I know. yeah. JB: How you gonna have consecutive thousand yard seasons and never make a Pro Bowl? So I I think that's pretty much with the clues and everything. But Ghostin asleep asleep on People don't never talk about that dude. Troy: yeah. JB: that's gonna be the end of our show. And again, I wanna thank Troy for taking the time out of this busy day and joining me. I only took him one month to come on the show. I appreciate you. You know you're my brother and everything.
