- 0:00Listen to the be Forever Cool podcast.
- 0:01My name is Rex 45 and it's the room room Wednesday show this
- 0:06evening we got Tyson in the building also Sir John Hampton
- 0:11in the building as well. You guys welcome to the show.
- 0:14How you guys doing? We'll start with Tyson.
- 0:16How's? It going everybody, I'm doing
- 0:18great. Nice, nice.
- 0:20That's what's up. How was your day?
- 0:21How's your week? That was OK.
- 0:23It was a nice long weekend. That was very fun.
- 0:25My girlfriend was out of town so I was extremely lazy.
- 0:30Hey, listen, that's that's the best thing to do over the Labor
- 0:32Day weekend when you can, when you can lay around and do
- 0:36nothing. So John, how about yourself,
- 0:38man? How you doing today?
- 0:39How was your week? I'm doing good.
- 0:41I'm doing good. I can't complain about nothing.
- 0:43Weekend was cool. Actually.
- 0:45I got the race. We're at Rhode Atlanta this past
- 0:48weekend, so you know, a lot of work to do to get back to where
- 0:54I want to be, but it's also, it was exciting and good for the
- 0:57weekend, so I won't complain. That's what's up, that's what's
- 1:00up. Let's, I guess let's talk about
- 1:01that a little bit before we jump into Moto GP.
- 1:05You know, what was that like for you and like what do you think
- 1:07you have to work on? I've only been at Rhoda Atlanta
- 1:12once in the first huge fan of the of the of the track and the
- 1:16layout. So I definitely like it, like
- 1:19it. And and when was the last time
- 1:21you raced before you this weekend?
- 1:26So I actually gested around that Roebling thinking about 3 or 4
- 1:30weeks ago out of Savannah, you know, and it went well out there
- 1:35too. Definitely.
- 1:36I had just did a track day there, so it was easy to go back
- 1:40and race there and try to find a groove.
- 1:42It's easy to, you know, face progression.
- 1:45It's been a while since I Rd. Rd.
- 1:47Atlanta. So it was still like that
- 1:49shocking factor of like, oh, this is a little different here,
- 1:54you know. So the weekend was overall, it
- 1:56was this good weekend. You know, it's just kind of not
- 2:01comparing it to where I was not consistently riding and racing
- 2:06and expecting to be back at that point immediately.
- 2:10You know, just or just giving myself the grace to don't like
- 2:14remember, you know, a bro, like you're not even riding right
- 2:17now. Like stop expecting to be quick
- 2:19in 30 threes and you you're not even riding, you know.
- 2:22So yeah, a little bit of grace, but solid weekend overall.
- 2:25Right, right, Tyson, you know a little bit about that as well,
- 2:28don't you? Yep, certainly do.
- 2:32It's it's tough when you take time off, you know it, it really
- 2:36like mentally you're always at the race track.
- 2:38I'm always at the race track mentally.
- 2:39So like, but physically, you know, it's a whole different
- 2:42animal And, and I think that's one of the hardest things is
- 2:45adjusting, adjusting your mind to saying, hey, you know, you've
- 2:49taken time off, so don't beat yourself up.
- 2:51Which for me, that's usually usually like the last thing I
- 2:54think about. I can flip tables over
- 2:58everything, all sort of stuff. And it's just like, Oh yeah,
- 3:01that's right. So we know, we know about that
- 3:07motorcycle racing, but let's talk about this previous
- 3:09weekend, 2 weekends ago now coming up on two weeks ago, our
- 3:13Moto GP was in volatile. First time in Hungary in a long
- 3:19time, well over 29 years, I believe.
- 3:21Let's just do a quick recap what you guys thought about the
- 3:24Sprint race and and the main race and this kind of overall
- 3:29how you thought the season has been, how you think the season's
- 3:31been going so far. Start with Tyson, sorry.
- 3:38Yeah, I, I quite frankly enjoyed the race.
- 3:40I was kind of excited for it, seeing as that they haven't
- 3:42ridden there in a while and no one really had experience.
- 3:45So I was like, you know, this could be quite an entertaining
- 3:48one. Just everybody all over the
- 3:49place. I mean, you know, the only part
- 3:53that wasn't sort of entertaining, I guess, was Mark
- 3:56just being Mark and just effortlessly stomping on the
- 4:01rest of the grid. Like, like, I feel bad kind of
- 4:05for like the rest of the guys. Like, I mean, I know they're the
- 4:07best in the world, but like at the same time it's like he's
- 4:10like on the same bike as you guys.
- 4:13But. I thought it was pretty good.
- 4:15I mean, I know some people were quite concerned with like the
- 4:17safety and stuff like that with the track, which I understand to
- 4:20a degree, but if your concern is safety, you should get in a car
- 4:24like you're riding bikes, like there's risk.
- 4:28Come on man, there's no one in the in the riders meeting
- 4:30talking about Loudon. I mean, it is a risk.
- 4:35Yeah, Loudon's sketchy. Like that is a sketchy track, to
- 4:38be fair. And I mean, we all would like it
- 4:41to be safer and stuff like that, but they're at the top of their
- 4:44game. It's a tier one track to a
- 4:45degree, you know, like, it is what it is.
- 4:47But yeah, that Mayo crash was actually was pretty sketch.
- 4:50Like, yeah, it should probably work on that corner, but yeah, I
- 4:53enjoyed it quite a bit. Yeah, no, there's there's no
- 4:56perfect tracks and no, you know you, I think if you grew up on
- 5:00that race track, you kind of you, you know what to do, what
- 5:03not to do kind of thing. I think, you know, for me,
- 5:06Loudon was my first track, so I didn't that's I thought every
- 5:10track. So, you know, it's just like it
- 5:13only gets better from here. So.
- 5:18So I feel you. You know what I mean.
- 5:20We'll talk about the track a little bit more.
- 5:22But Sir John, I guess. Is it cool?
- 5:25Just saying, Sir John. Yeah, Yeah.
- 5:27Cool. What what what do you think of
- 5:30of overall of, of the race, the Sprint and, and the main race?
- 5:33And I, I haven't asked you guys. I guess we'll find out, you
- 5:36know, who you guys are rooting for, if you guys are rooting for
- 5:38anyone. But what do you think of it, of
- 5:40the race races? No, I think the race was, it was
- 5:45beautiful. One is interesting again because
- 5:48they don't have the knowledge, you know, it's a new track to
- 5:50everyone that was on grid. So that was pretty awesome to
- 5:54see who can adapt, who that track favours their rider style,
- 5:57who's going to, you know, to be able to adapt the quickest.
- 6:01Of course, it favors a lot of marks Marquez's what he loves,
- 6:09you know, his riding style, you know.
- 6:11So it was it was kind of one of those like, OK, well, who's
- 6:14going to go chase him, you know? So to see honestly, Bez Niseki
- 6:19again out front, giving him a little bit of fire for the
- 6:23little bit of time that he did that was a beautiful thing to
- 6:26do. I feel like that's huge for him
- 6:27as a rider and he's for the prayer team to see them out
- 6:30front. Definitely with Jorge coming
- 6:32back with the right that he even did that weekend.
- 6:35That's just good news for them in the future if they can just
- 6:38continue to piece it together. So.
- 6:41Yeah, I, I, I agree. So let's talk a little bit,
- 6:46let's talk a little bit about Honda.
- 6:47What do you what do you guys think of what Honda finished?
- 6:49They look really well. They also signed back Luca and
- 6:55Mir. So you know what, what are your
- 6:57thoughts on how Honda did Tyson? You own a Honda, right?
- 7:01So I think. I do own a Honda.
- 7:04You said, you know, so you're you're you're a Honda fan.
- 7:06You like Honda like, I mean, I like Honda too.
- 7:08I got to, you know, what are your thoughts on how, how, how
- 7:11Honda did? I think they're doing great.
- 7:13I mean, from where they were the last couple of years, I mean,
- 7:17it's obviously a huge step in the right direction.
- 7:20I mean, Luka Marini and 5th, was that in the main race?
- 7:24I think was he 6th in the Sprint as well?
- 7:26Something like that? Yeah, I think something like
- 7:28that really well. What was he?
- 7:32Mir was sixth. Good for Mir as well.
- 7:34Marine was fourth in the Sprint, Even better.
- 7:38I mean, you know, they're on the up and they're one of the
- 7:41premier teams. You know, like it's sucks when
- 7:45you see Yamaha or Honda, it's like seeing Ferrari at the
- 7:48bottom of the of the table. Like, you know, everyone's heart
- 7:51hurts a little bit when they see that.
- 7:52So it's good to see them coming back up.
- 7:55Hopefully they can get some, you know, more development in maybe
- 7:59some different riders. We'll see.
- 8:00But. Which brand did you just compare
- 8:04Honda to? I mean, I wouldn't quite call
- 8:07them Ferrari, but like they are like they're just one of those
- 8:12sort of brands. I've always been there.
- 8:13Like, they're huge, like Ducati is the Ferrari of bikes.
- 8:16But like, at the end of the day, when it comes to performance and
- 8:19like actual wins on the track, yeah, I'd say probably Honda's a
- 8:21little bit closer than Ducati. Right, fair enough.
- 8:24They have the same dominant step Ferrari did and stuff like that.
- 8:28And and you know, yeah, that that's huge.
- 8:31We'll talk a little bit more about that.
- 8:32What are your thoughts, Sir John, about Honda?
- 8:35How they doing? I know you have a Yamaha, so I
- 8:39don't know how much of a Honda. I mean, I don't really have
- 8:45issues at a Honda, so I don't mind giving them some praise,
- 8:49like they stay behind me. We're good.
- 8:53But no, I feel like 1 is great because you got Luca Marini,
- 8:57which is honestly, he's a good writer.
- 9:01And I questioned his desire to go to Honda knowing Honda was in
- 9:05their rebuild, trying to figure out life space.
- 9:08So it's good to see some hope this season, you know, to see a
- 9:13couple rounds ago Zarco be able to put the Honda out front.
- 9:17You know, they're saying they'll actually finish races like the
- 9:20Honda's are finishing races. Like when they start finishing
- 9:23races consistently, that to me is a good sign.
- 9:26You know, then you can start climbing your way up the up the
- 9:29ladders, running to placement where you finishing at and stuff
- 9:32like that. So I think that was a good round
- 9:34for them as well with their riders finishing as good as they
- 9:38did. Yeah.
- 9:40What were you guys thoughts on Zarko before we moved on?
- 9:43I mean, it seems like his candle was the best at the French Open
- 9:47and it's kind of just coming down, coming down.
- 9:49Honda did sign them or LCR did sign off for two years.
- 9:52So he will be on the the new bike, the new bikes for 27.
- 9:58What are you guys thoughts on Zarko?
- 10:00I mean, he definitely has had a great season, I guess in general
- 10:07compared to previous seasons, but I mean, the bike's tough.
- 10:11He did a great job with that win.
- 10:12It's certainly petered off, but you know, he's still in a Honda,
- 10:17I'd say. So do you, you know, do you, do
- 10:22you agree with what he's saying, Sir John?
- 10:23And also, do you think it's Sarco the the tracks that
- 10:27they're going to now the bike or it's just, it's just sometimes
- 10:31riders just do better. I like to quote Lewis, You know,
- 10:34your home track gives you a, you know, a half a tenth or
- 10:37something like that. Honestly, I feel like it's all
- 10:42of that when you got the it's your home track.
- 10:45So ideally that's the track that you're most comfortable at, but
- 10:48also psychologically that's the track we have the most pressure
- 10:51because it is your home track, you know, So like, it's good to
- 10:54see him actually do great at that track.
- 10:57As far as into everything else, I mean, it's I feel like, and
- 11:00this isn't a not to Zarko, but it's typical Zarko riding.
- 11:04You know, he's going to have flashes of speed.
- 11:06He's going to get close to winning a race and or win a race
- 11:10as reason like that's just what he does.
- 11:11And he can ride anything you put them on.
- 11:14But he's never, I won't say he's never.
- 11:17He just hasn't shown that he's the consistent threat throughout
- 11:21a season. But he will show you a flash of
- 11:23like, damn, that kid can rock, you know, So I think it's
- 11:27darker. And again, he's right now,
- 11:29honestly, I think he's helping the data that Honda can get from
- 11:32him riding. And in those flashes, it's
- 11:34excellent for them to continue to build the bikes for the Luca
- 11:37Marini and mirror, you know, take his data, use it for them.
- 11:43Because obviously I feel like that's their stallions for Honda
- 11:48right now by choice though. And and do you and do you guys
- 11:52think that Honda made the the right decision and essentially I
- 11:54mean they keeping all their riders well against Zarko got
- 11:57two years, but Marini and and Mirror got a year.
- 12:00Don't you guys come in, I think as Diego coming in for every
- 12:04place in Tomcat LCR, do you think that's a good look for
- 12:09Honda, what they're doing? Diego Moreira.
- 12:13Yeah, yeah, he's he's, he's fine for for next year.
- 12:16Oh, he did. I thought that was a rumor, but.
- 12:19I mean, no, I got to guess you're right.
- 12:21It might be a rumor, but I thought I I thought I saw have.
- 12:23No idea if that's actually a rumor or not.
- 12:25I I just thought I saw it come across my feet kind of deal.
- 12:27But I mean, consistency is probably key for them,
- 12:30especially in this stage in their development.
- 12:32Like I wouldn't be tossing out all of your riders for new
- 12:36riders at this point, like the bike was good.
- 12:39They're at a similar situation or, you know, Ducati had a year
- 12:42or two ago, Sure, you know, switch up the riders, bring
- 12:45people in, keep one person. But this stage, they need
- 12:48consistency to develop that data and make their bikes better.
- 12:51Like you just adding more and more variables to the equation
- 12:54isn't helping anybody or your bike.
- 12:57But Diego Marrera seems to be, you know, a new, another prodigy
- 13:02to a degree. So, like, it doesn't hurt like
- 13:04him or some cat. Like, I don't think that's going
- 13:07to hurt them in any way. It probably frankly will help
- 13:10them, but. Right.
- 13:13What are your thoughts, Sir John?
- 13:17I found is a question mark for me right now and it's just like
- 13:23they're doing good and they're doing a lot better.
- 13:25I just want and hope that their team is putting forth the effort
- 13:30to one, keep these riders safe because for a long time that
- 13:34bike is really unrideable unless you were Marc Marquez.
- 13:37And even when you were Marc Marquez, it will still try to
- 13:40eat you alive, you know? So as long as they keep
- 13:44themselves with the development and into developing A rideable
- 13:47bike, I feel like they will be OK.
- 13:52The riders, I mean, I feel like they're taking a gamble with the
- 13:55hopes that the team will do the work and the effort to get a
- 13:58solid contender of a bike. And then they can now showcase
- 14:02their skills on that bike. And now they can maybe, you
- 14:07know, pick up that fallen Angel of Honda and become like the
- 14:10rider to start putting it on podiums and doing this stuff.
- 14:13Now they got the media. We're not the media for that
- 14:16point, you know, but they got the presence of like, hey, you
- 14:19know, like the Marc Marquez and Honda Air is over.
- 14:21Let's talk about the Luca Marini and the Juan Mir of Honda now
- 14:25because we stuck with it through the trenches for us to get good
- 14:28again. So it's a little shaky for me.
- 14:32I think honestly, Honda's going to maybe do something and Honda
- 14:37Yamaha in 2027 when they switch to the 88 fifties or 8 hundreds,
- 14:44I think that's when they're going to to come back
- 14:48competitive again. Also, you know, you just got to
- 14:50make it through the rest of this season and next year.
- 14:53Yeah, I agree. And and Tyson, you're right.
- 14:55I think it's just hearsay right now.
- 14:57I couldn't find anything confirming Diego moving yet, but
- 15:02it looks like it it's it may happen, but it's not confirmed
- 15:06yet. Let's talk about yeah, let's
- 15:09let's talk about Yamaha. They didn't struggle as bad as I
- 15:15I forget which where they were at.
- 15:17I think I think Czech Republic or maybe Red Bull Ring, but they
- 15:21still, you know, they were out of the top ten.
- 15:24You got. What are you guys thoughts on
- 15:26that and and on where Yamaha is right now?
- 15:29I believe in Misano. They're going to be bringing the
- 15:31V4 engine finally to to the race, so that should be a good
- 15:36look for them. Miller got resigned and so you
- 15:40know, and I'd be curious to hear if you thought they'd made the
- 15:43right decision between Miller and Oliveira.
- 15:45What were you guys thought somehow Honda did.
- 15:48I'm sorry, Yamaha, do you? Want to go first?
- 15:52Second. Yeah.
- 15:56Yamaha. My heart, my baby, my baby.
- 16:01I feel like you know, there something they're figuring out
- 16:05something, you know, they they of course the start of the
- 16:09season was wasn't the best at all, but they were able to piece
- 16:12some rounds together, which is good news.
- 16:15Obviously they're working behind the scenes, but I feel like you
- 16:18have two world champions on on your bike, factory bike and
- 16:22you're struggling to make this thing get in the top tennis
- 16:25Diabolical to me. Definitely when for my personal
- 16:30opinion, you have Fabio Quadrillo, which is one of the
- 16:35best skilled riders to me on the grid right now.
- 16:40For him to have to struggle so hard.
- 16:42You guys got a lot of work to do and so I do hope that that V4
- 16:47does something well. I know the regulations maybe
- 16:51won't allow you know, Quattro Wrens to race the bike.
- 16:55I wish put John Miller on it for all I care, but the test rider
- 17:00on it I feel like is you get data, but you're not going to
- 17:04feel the results. I feel like you know, So I just
- 17:08wish that was slightly different.
- 17:09I would love to see Jack Miller at least on it or to see what
- 17:12it's actually capable of. I do feel like they did a great
- 17:16decision with picking Jack Miller over Oliveira just
- 17:19because Jack Miller, his persona as far as the garage atmosphere,
- 17:25chemistry, he's easy to work with or he has a good
- 17:28personality. He can ride and he can't give
- 17:32you some flair on here. And then I think he just has
- 17:34more spirit. Exactly.
- 17:37And I just think he has the experience to tap into more than
- 17:41Oliveira. So I feel like they made the
- 17:44solid choice with that. I just want them to get back to
- 17:49being the Yamaha that I want and the Yamaha that I know, you
- 17:52know, like you got you got you got 2 again, two world champions
- 17:56on on your bike. You know, like you should be in
- 17:58the top ten. And for my personal opinion, you
- 18:03have one of the best riders on the grid on your bike as well in
- 18:07five BL Quadraro. And he can't do nothing with
- 18:10that bike, not for a turnover race.
- 18:12You know, he can barely make it a Sprint.
- 18:14And to get that thing over 4th place, that's a problem to me.
- 18:18Yeah, and, and he looks like he's he's, he's pushing beyond
- 18:22the limits and he's starting to crash where in the previous
- 18:24years he wasn't crashing. So he's definitely motivated
- 18:28because you know, you wouldn't be, you wouldn't be crashing if
- 18:31you weren't motivated. What are your thoughts Tyson on
- 18:34on Yamaha? I mean, I, I agree with pretty
- 18:37much everything Sir John said. I, I, I'm probably more
- 18:41pessimistic about them then Sir John.
- 18:44I think they're just throwing whatever they can at the wall
- 18:46and hoping that it sticks. Like my concern, like compared
- 18:50to Honda, Honda's kind of like generally in a similar sort of
- 18:54middle, lower tier and they kind of have some good turnouts,
- 18:57whereas they're all over the place.
- 18:59They'll win a race and then they'll be dead last the next
- 19:01race and then they'll, you know, be top ten and then they'll be
- 19:04dead last again. And it's that's kind of a
- 19:07concerning thing for me seeing is that like you want
- 19:10consistency to a degree. And that's what I think the V4,
- 19:13I think they're just throwing something at the wall at the V4
- 19:16and hoping that it fixes problems and keeps Fabio.
- 19:20I agree with you, Sir John. I think pure talent.
- 19:23I'll probably exclude some of the younger guys just because we
- 19:25haven't seen so much about them so far.
- 19:27But like pure talent on the grid.
- 19:28Fabio is probably the only person who could realistically
- 19:31compete with Mark on an equal bike.
- 19:34I would love to see that throw down both of them on competitive
- 19:38bikes would be unreal. I think the only chance for that
- 19:43is 2027, though. I it's not happening next year
- 19:46unless Fabio moves to Ducati like or or Aprilia at this
- 19:52point, this stage in the game. But yeah, he's he reminds me a
- 19:55lot of 2020 to 2023 Mark Marquez, like just absolutely
- 20:01riding the piss out of the bike and just doing whatever he can
- 20:05to pick up some points. And if you know, sometimes.
- 20:09And you get hurt for it or it doesn't work out.
- 20:13But yeah, I'm relatively concerned about that.
- 20:16I hope it works out. I genuinely do cuz like Honda, I
- 20:19consider them one of the premier sort of brands.
- 20:21It would be terrible to see them.
- 20:23It's terrible to see them at the bottom of the grid.
- 20:25I agree on that, but I have to say, I mean, vinyalas can cut,
- 20:29you know, he might be able to run with black as well, No?
- 20:31Oh my. God, vinyalas.
- 20:34But I mean no, no. Oh no.
- 20:37Oh no. Wow, we.
- 20:41Were talking about Zarko and I was like you mean vinyalas
- 20:44adjacent? Come on, Vinny, Alice is 1 on
- 20:48almost four different manufacturers.
- 20:50I mean, you know, I know. It's very good, very impressive.
- 20:54It's. Huge.
- 20:54And he already knew the Yamaha was messing up before.
- 21:02Right, right, he said. Red Bomb.
- 21:08I've never seen a 2 step in a premier racing grid.
- 21:12Oh man, so Cuatarara, No, no Bagnaya, no Bazecki, none of
- 21:17those other guys. I'm just, I'm leaving the young
- 21:19people out. So huh.
- 21:21I just don't think they're in the same ballpark.
- 21:24But you think Cuatarara is I? Do for sure.
- 21:27I mean, like, if you look at them like these other guys, like
- 21:30I think they're doing the best with their talent and the bike
- 21:32that they have. But like Fabio, you look at the
- 21:35rest of his team and they're not doing well and he's doing 10
- 21:38places above them almost every race.
- 21:40Like eventually, you know. I hear what you're saying.
- 21:48I mean Vinyallis is kind of like Miller.
- 21:50I think they helped. They both those guys helped KTM
- 21:52take a leap when they got the KTM.
- 21:56So you know, I think there's something there, but I like what
- 21:59you guys are saying Let's talk about Morbideli and the Jan
- 22:03Antonio Morbideli got one more year.
- 22:05I know some other folks on the shows writing Morbideli off at
- 22:08the beginning of the year and Bastionini and some of these
- 22:11guys cuz they. Were.
- 22:13At the bottom, but what do you I'd love to see how you guys
- 22:16thoughts on on on Frankie. Did he deserve to get one more
- 22:20year at VR46 or is he just is he like Kawhi and and the owner of
- 22:24the Clippers? Fast Frankie, Fast Frankie
- 22:31Morbidelli. He's a good rider.
- 22:33He has skill and honestly, he has the bike which I no not, but
- 22:39he has the bike that is helping make his skills a little bit
- 22:44amplified with being on that bike.
- 22:47But I mean he can start a race and he can ride the race for the
- 22:50most part, you know, and it's hit or miss on if he saved his
- 22:54tires properly, you know, to finish the race in the top 6.
- 22:59But it's the mistakes he make so often to me that's like is mind
- 23:03boggling me. Do you know like you make the
- 23:06weirdest mistakes that cost you the biggest penalties that hurt
- 23:09you the most. So often, like so often.
- 23:12Like how is this even possible? So that part I don't understand.
- 23:18I mean, at the end of the day, everyone knows it's a big shift
- 23:21coming up in 27, so I honestly, I'm not too worried about
- 23:25shuffling my grid on bikes that I know I'm not going to be
- 23:27racing more than After Nature anyway.
- 23:29So sure, I'll give him a seat too.
- 23:31You're already here, already got rapport with you.
- 23:34Let's see what you can do next year.
- 23:35Yeah, my bad. I think Frankie's more like Tony
- 23:37Yayo to 50. Oh my God, you love him, but
- 23:44he's always doing. Something wrong?
- 23:46He's always doing something wrong, man.
- 23:47Always. Tyson I pretty much agree to the
- 23:55most part on that. Like dude just can't get out of
- 23:58his own way. Just like we all know those
- 24:00people who just like all the heart in the world, all the
- 24:03whatever skill or experience and they just, they just seem to put
- 24:07that left foot right in front of the right and just trip over
- 24:09themselves. You know, I was looking at the
- 24:13standings real quick and I'm like, I mean, he's beating Fabio
- 24:18by not much, but he's also nowhere near the other 20 fours.
- 24:24So I think given the regulation changes, like I'm not too
- 24:28shocked that they kept him. Like why why break up the party
- 24:32before? Like everyone's going to be
- 24:34looking for contracts coming into 2027.
- 24:37And I think that's what everyone's sort of like, you
- 24:39know, waiting to see like what's going to happen, you know,
- 24:42almost like right before an election year kind of deal, you
- 24:44know, like, let's just let's wait to see who wins to see how
- 24:47this economy is going to turn out kind of deal, you know?
- 24:50Do you do you think Dijon, Antonio and back now hurry up.
- 24:54Looking forward to seeing the 26th Ducati I.
- 24:58Don't think they're looking forward to much.
- 25:01I bet Peko is he wants anything but a 25 Ducati right now.
- 25:04I don't. Think it's going to help him?
- 25:08It's not. It's not.
- 25:10As long as he's going to get. Sick.
- 25:12You see what Frankie's doing on the 24 and you see what Alex
- 25:16Marquez is doing on the 24 so and he won the champion no, he
- 25:19didn't win the championship on the 24, but he was close he was
- 25:27close Let me see what else am I all right?
- 25:30I think they, you know, Elisha had came to race, but I think he
- 25:33got hurt so he didn't really get none.
- 25:35So is so it's possible that some cat Conchantra may be out of a
- 25:41seat and also well, at the moment, Olivera is out of a
- 25:44seat. Wait.
- 25:45Didn't some cat already lose his seat like months ago?
- 25:48I thought he was hurt. Yeah, I think he was injured.
- 25:51I think it was. Yeah, I thought they took a
- 25:53seat. Sorry, my bad.
- 25:54No, no, no. I think he got injured during a
- 25:57practice round and then the second the test rider end up
- 26:00getting injured too. So like both of them got injured
- 26:02back-to-back and then they threw somebody else.
- 26:05Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:12So, but what what are your thoughts on on those guys losing
- 26:15their seat? I mean, I feel like Oliveira
- 26:17should have a seat because he had it worse than mayor.
- 26:21I mean, for the last like 5 years, some other rider, I think
- 26:24there's only one time that he took himself out outside of
- 26:26that. It was like some other rider
- 26:28taking them out and and taking them out for like, you know,
- 26:32more than four races in in the season.
- 26:34Yeah. Yeah, Olivera is just that kid
- 26:40is a magnet for Rex, but I don't know who who gets taken out more
- 26:43him or mirror, you know, like, but they're always on the tail
- 26:47end of getting wrecked out by somebody else, like every single
- 26:51time. And it is it's heartbreaking
- 26:53because Olivera does have skill. Like he was able to do some
- 26:57things and like she like put the bike up front a couple of times
- 27:01in his career, you know, but for some reason he's just not able
- 27:06to avoid the bikes aren't able to avoid him.
- 27:08You know, he's just magnetizing it, you know, so I it's like to
- 27:12to see him get written off, but it's like you rather got to get
- 27:18fast enough to get away from that group of people doing all
- 27:21the wrecking, you know, like that's pretty much your only
- 27:24option because obviously stand back there.
- 27:26It's not helping your career out.
- 27:27I. Agree.
- 27:31Go. Ahead.
- 27:33I'm really not surprised either of them lost their seat,
- 27:35frankly. Like what is that?
- 27:39You're only as good as your last race.
- 27:41I mean, at this level of racing with this amount amount of money
- 27:44on the line, like, I mean, it sucks.
- 27:47Everyone would love to have, you know, I gave you 3 good years or
- 27:51whatever, you should give me a hand or whatever.
- 27:53But that's just not the world we live in, and it's not the series
- 27:56you're in. And it is what it is.
- 27:58But I feel for Miguel more than I feel for some some chat like
- 28:03he's he's like seconds off the pace.
- 28:06Like he shouldn't have been on the grid to begin with.
- 28:08Like, yeah, that seems dangerous.
- 28:10That seems like putting a novice in an expert race, you know what
- 28:12I mean? Like.
- 28:14Almost, but I think it's one of those things we're not what I
- 28:17think. I know for riders if Moto GP
- 28:21comes calling you have to accept.
- 28:25Because Moto GP contractor they gave me one right now.
- 28:28So so I. Don't fault him for it.
- 28:33I'm not saying like I wouldn't do the same thing.
- 28:35Yeah, but if I, if I guru went to the to the to Honda instead
- 28:39of a Berylia, Samcat would still be in Moto 2.
- 28:43But they, it's the I'm gonna mess up their name.
- 28:47But LCR, the Asian side, they want a Japanese ride or Asian
- 28:52rider on a bike, as they've done with Tekanakagami for years and
- 28:57stuff like that. And which makes sense, right?
- 29:00And because there's a lot of Asian riders racing in all parts
- 29:03of Asia right now. And when he goes to Indonesia,
- 29:06where he's from, he's like a God over there.
- 29:08Samcat even in Moto 2. So you know, it makes sense, but
- 29:14like, I don't think riders should be penalized because I
- 29:16think even Joe Roberts got penalized because he didn't want
- 29:19to go to Aprilia when Aprilia was really bad and and and he
- 29:22should at least have an opportunity to go with the track
- 29:25house racing team and stuff like that.
- 29:26But I think the parent company Aprilia is like, Nah, man, you
- 29:29had your chance and you said no to us kind of thing.
- 29:32So. But what are your thoughts on
- 29:34that? Pass Can you integrate?
- 29:41It's not. It's not Joe Roberts.
- 29:43Not. Yeah, Joe, Joe Robertson, just,
- 29:45you know, having to take that opportunity to go to Moto GP
- 29:49when you're not ready. Right.
- 29:52It's just one of those I think you're in a rocket between rock
- 29:54and hard place. I mean, I'm sure he understood
- 29:57the realities of that choice, whereas like if he said no, the
- 30:00the risks of them not wanting to sign them again are there.
- 30:03And I think why Samkhat took that contract because he knows
- 30:07like this is my one chance. Either I do well or I don't get
- 30:11the seat or if I deny this, I probably won't get a seat
- 30:14anyway. So I'll take the contract and
- 30:17see what I can do. Like, I don't think, I think
- 30:19that was Joe Robert's only opportunity to get into Moto GP.
- 30:21I don't think anyone else will give him a contract.
- 30:24I don't think anyone's seen any sort of performances worthy of
- 30:28giving him a Moto GP contract. I when I, when I saw that that
- 30:33he refused or whatever the rumors or the whatever came out,
- 30:36I was like, that was a mistake. Like if your goal is to go to
- 30:38Moto GP, you should have just taken it.
- 30:41But here we are. And he wasn't the only one.
- 30:44I mean, he wasn't he definitely. I mean I think Sam Logan ended
- 30:47up getting the seat eventually but back then and and Sam didn't
- 30:50make it the whole season I don't believe.
- 30:52And that's probably what would have happened to Joe, you know,
- 30:55like, unfortunately, unfortunately, but you know.
- 31:01Yeah, I, I, I agree. So all right, let's we're
- 31:05running through. Did you guys catch any of the
- 31:08Moto 2 races before we we talk about this weekend coming up?
- 31:13It was a pretty impressive race. You know, Gonzales is leading
- 31:17the championship and you know, he's fighting I think with
- 31:21connect, but Diego's like right there and obviously he he messed
- 31:25things up this past week, past weekend for those guys and and
- 31:28Balaton thoughts on Moto 2 and how how how the racing is going
- 31:33on for the whole season. I I didn't watch.
- 31:37I'll leave it to the guys that watched.
- 31:41Yeah, same here. Like I really I didn't watch
- 31:43Moto 2. I haven't been following Moto 2
- 31:45too heavy this year. I do know Connect is riding the
- 31:49best he's rode in his career. I feel like with the
- 31:54consistency, because I've always wondered about Connect, is like,
- 31:59why aren't you not progressing? Because you've been at this for
- 32:02a while, you know? But it's one of those things,
- 32:04you know, honestly, just sometimes your time is your time
- 32:07and it doesn't come when it comes as early for some people.
- 32:11But I feel like he's doing good right now.
- 32:13He has a couple points he needs to try to close if he wants it.
- 32:16Gonzalez is rolling, so good luck.
- 32:20And you also got the young cat right behind you, you know, so
- 32:23it's kind of like he can't make a mistake.
- 32:25But like I said, for Moto 2, it's been a lot of highlights
- 32:29and just kind of catching up just real briefly with Moto 2.
- 32:34But I I agree that Canet's riding the best.
- 32:37He's having the best seasons he's had.
- 32:39I think he's one of the the most races.
- 32:41I mean, he's usually in second place and fighting for the
- 32:45championship this far into the season because usually in the
- 32:47beginning of the season he'll be up there and then injuries.
- 32:51I mean, like, yeah, at least with Mayor, he'll fall and walk
- 32:54back. Like Canet, most of the times he
- 32:57fall, he's hurting. So he's breaking something.
- 32:59Yeah. He's like Martine.
- 33:03Soft bones seriously. And, and, and, and we saw that,
- 33:09that he's, I mean, and he's been riding wounded, you know, for
- 33:11several races this year already and, and, and kind of finished
- 33:15further back. And now that he's healthy again,
- 33:17you, you kind of see his pace coming back and stuff like that.
- 33:20So, you know, he, that's one guy I think should have a motor,
- 33:23should have had a Moto GP ride, because I think he is one of the
- 33:25talented, the talented, the riders in Moto 2.
- 33:31And, and I know, like, you know, there's, there's been rumors in
- 33:34the past when, you know, just he had just had too many tattoos
- 33:38and, and, and some manufacturers didn't want that associated to
- 33:43their brand and stuff like that, which is kind of weird because
- 33:46first of all, everyone in in, in Moto GP has a tattoo.
- 33:50So, so that's crazy. So let's, let's talk about what
- 33:55to expect this weekend in Cataluna.
- 33:58You know it, I believe it's Marquez's home track.
- 34:02And you know, I got, I got to look at the stats and see if
- 34:05we'll look at the stats and see how some of these other riders
- 34:08have done. But let's kind of kind of talk
- 34:10about Cataluna. You know, what do you think of
- 34:12that track, the location, the, the atmosphere is going to be
- 34:17like as well, 'cause I, you know this, the Spaniards, they, they
- 34:21love motorcycle racing. Look at this point of the
- 34:29career, I mean, not career, but this point of the season, I'm
- 34:34just like, just go ahead and give it to him already.
- 34:38He's winning at Marcus, winning at track to where he's sucked at
- 34:43and he's winning, you know, So like you got the he's hungry,
- 34:49you know, and I feel like he, he's definitely proved a point,
- 34:52you know, and I feel like he did that last year with Garcini
- 34:55where he made that choice to be like, I'm racing big Garcini for
- 34:59nothing because I just want to be competitive.
- 35:01And now he's on factory and he's proven it this year.
- 35:04Like he's dominant. I feel like Cataluna is going to
- 35:06be exciting for the first couple of laps and then it's going to
- 35:10be Gap City and he's going to do his thing or he's going to sit
- 35:13behind whoever is in first place, probably Ben Seki, and
- 35:16sit behind him for up until the last two laps and then instantly
- 35:20passing me walk 4 seconds ahead of him.
- 35:22You know, like that's my anticipations.
- 35:28It's going to be a good race for 2nd place and back.
- 35:30Got you. What do you think about the
- 35:32atmosphere and stuff like that and the meaning of Cataluna?
- 35:35We've seen some really good battles in the past.
- 35:39So you know, it is a good place for a good showdown.
- 35:43You think we're going to it sounds like you're saying it's
- 35:46going to make like Marquez might kind of run away with it and and
- 35:51let me know when y'all catch up. I mean, that's my personal
- 35:55opinion, You know, like there certain people at certain tracks
- 35:59are able to close the gap on him a little bit, but when it comes
- 36:02down to who wants to win more and who has the skill to get it
- 36:06done, that's where the separation comes from, you know,
- 36:09like, so that's where he has the tools necessary.
- 36:13Honestly, he's riding the best bike on the grid right now, but
- 36:16he also has the mind and the skills on top of that to put to
- 36:21work with. He needs to be clutched and hey,
- 36:25I got X amount of time to rid this person here.
- 36:27I got X amount of time to win this race.
- 36:29Let me buckle down and do it. There's not a lot of people on
- 36:32grid that can compete against that version of Mark Marquez
- 36:35now. I feel like that's what
- 36:36separates them. So I don't want to say he's
- 36:38going to run away with it, but it's like unless you do run away
- 36:42with it further enough for out of his reach quick enough, he's
- 36:47going to win the race, OK. What are your thoughts, Tyson?
- 36:51Far gone conclusion or you know Vinales is going to come back
- 36:56and. You know, oh boy.
- 37:01The Batman that's. Right.
- 37:06I mean, he's going to win unless, I mean, he's competing
- 37:08with himself. So if he decides to crash, he's
- 37:11not going to win. If he doesn't crash, he's going
- 37:13to win. I think to your point, Sir John,
- 37:17like I think this is the most complete mark has ever been.
- 37:20Like, I don't think it's I don't necessarily think it's the
- 37:22fastest he's ever been. Like, you know, a couple years
- 37:25ago in his Honda heydays, I think he was just like, he was
- 37:27just trying to prove the point that he's the fastest thing with
- 37:29two thumbs. And like he just he didn't care.
- 37:34He was like, I'm going to make a point that like, I know I'm
- 37:36winning. I'm in first place, but I'm
- 37:38going to put, you know, gaps on you.
- 37:40Like I'm going to finish this race 40 seconds ahead.
- 37:43I mean, I don't know actually, but like that kind of point.
- 37:45Whereas now I think he's just like, you know what I don't
- 37:48need? I don't like I'm going to win.
- 37:50Why should I risk everything for, you know, an extra couple
- 37:54seconds just for bragging rights?
- 37:55So I think that's what I mean by the most complete where he's
- 37:58like, OK, I can relax and like not risk my body, not risk these
- 38:02points and just win the race. No one else can touch me and his
- 38:07control is insane. Like I watching him race other
- 38:11guys, it's like watching an expert fight an amateur like and
- 38:16they're all top of the line, premier class riders, the best
- 38:20in the world. But he just does what he wants
- 38:22when he wants to. And that is the scariest thing
- 38:26about him. Like this year, like just OK, I
- 38:30don't pass you this corner whenever, you know, next corner,
- 38:33corner after that, next lap, whatever, it'll happen.
- 38:37We'll do it. And it's just like, I don't
- 38:39know, can compete, but I really hope Bez keeps it up.
- 38:43I hope Martine's doing better. Like I think Martine's a better
- 38:45rider than Bez. He's just still getting up to
- 38:47speed. I think if they both were up to
- 38:49speed, I think Martine would realistically be in second at
- 38:54this stage. Maybe, maybe fighting Alex for
- 38:562nd to a degree. But like I don't think he would
- 38:58be behind Petco. That Aprilia is pretty good and
- 39:04it's with a faster rider I like. I think if Mark was on the the
- 39:07Aprilia, he probably would have still won the championship I.
- 39:11Agree I'm. Not any of the other.
- 39:12Bikes, yeah, I would agree with that too.
- 39:14After seeing what Bez is doing and after seeing what Martine
- 39:16did the other day, I can say I I I think so too.
- 39:19I think, I think if Mark was on an Aprilia, he he would be
- 39:23fighting for the championship. Would he have as many points as
- 39:26he has right now? I don't know, but I think he
- 39:28because Aprilia is very competitive, yeah.
- 39:32I 100% agree with that right there.
- 39:34Like, I don't think he'd be walking away with the
- 39:35championship, but I think it would be like someone's going to
- 39:38have to put up a serious fight to like, take it from him.
- 39:42It would have to be Fabio on a Ducati.
- 39:48Say, because the whole thing is like 14, Jorge left because Mark
- 39:52took his seat. Like he was like, I'm getting
- 39:54the Ducati seat. Well, that's it.
- 39:55So what if Mark stays or whatever and Mark goes to
- 39:58Aprilia and Jorge then goes to the Ducati?
- 40:02Like what would that championship be?
- 40:03It would be Jorge, most likely. The 24 would be.
- 40:06My guess is I don't think Petco and Jorge would have taken the
- 40:0925. But so the 24 against Mark on
- 40:13the what is the RS25I think that'll be quite the
- 40:16championship throwdown and I think it would be between Jorge
- 40:19and Mark, not Pekko. Yeah, and just watching again
- 40:24what he did this past weekend, Martine, I I feel like it, it's
- 40:29possible that yeah, he might be. Well, let me ask this before we
- 40:32move on to another manufacturer because I mean, and I've been
- 40:35saying it all, I haven't been, I haven't brought this up all
- 40:38season, but and I've kind of been bashing Ducati.
- 40:42But how much credit should Ducati get the team get for what
- 40:44Mark is doing? None.
- 40:46I don't look at the rest of the riders.
- 40:53It's that's tough. That's a tough question
- 40:56actually, because it's like you want to be like, Oh no, Ducati
- 40:58did this, but you got Pekko being a fierce fighter for what,
- 41:06three years in a row? That face plants hard on that
- 41:0925. Everyone else is kind of like
- 41:13whether you got mark being marked.
- 41:15So I. Mean, I do mean to cut you off,
- 41:18but like Alex was doing well, Fuhrman is up there as well.
- 41:21So it's not just Mark. Obviously Mark is the one that's
- 41:23winning, but. So, but that's the thing though.
- 41:26So like, it's not just Mark, but it is just Mark because you got
- 41:30Ricky Outiger, which she is. He has so many random flashes of
- 41:36like greatness. It's crazy.
- 41:38Ellie. Junior.
- 41:41Yeah, that that's that dude is like, I'm excited to watch him
- 41:44like two or three years down the line.
- 41:46Oh, Alex was doing good. Oh, you know, so they can ride
- 41:48the bike. So John, one second Mark, Mark,
- 41:5266% of Ducati's points. There you go. 66.
- 41:58Wow, Yeah, I. I.
- 42:05Mean, yeah. I feel like Alex and and and
- 42:10Herman. I mean, they're doing good.
- 42:13So Dakota is doing something because they're doing something,
- 42:17correct. The thing is, I feel like they I
- 42:20hope they don't get too locked in on Mark's performance because
- 42:24at the end of the day, you're going to end up like Honda if
- 42:28you don't pay attention. Yeah.
- 42:30Yeah, what they, what they should do is they should have
- 42:35like blind rider feedback or Mark should just say just give
- 42:41me a bike. Don't fucking listen to me.
- 42:44Listen to everybody else but me. Like I'm clearly going to win on
- 42:48whatever you give me. So like, if you want your bike
- 42:50to be better, ignore anything I tell you and listen to everybody
- 42:53else. Well, I mean, in our fairness,
- 42:55Mark only got there, so they were listening to all 8 riders
- 42:59and we saw what 8 riders were doing, you know, being very
- 43:03competitive at different track, different riders winning when
- 43:06they had eight bikes on the grid.
- 43:07So you know, there's something to be said for that and, and
- 43:10that's what Aprilia is doing. You know, that that kind of
- 43:13mindset of listening to the riders.
- 43:15We see that with KTM as well. Honda's starting to adapt that
- 43:19Yamaha is trying to. So that's kind of the way.
- 43:22But Mark is doing something that these other guys are not doing.
- 43:26But again, you're saying it wouldn't matter because if he
- 43:29was on the KTM, he'll just do the same thing?
- 43:31Or in April, Yeah. 100%. Yeah, I think the Aprilia for
- 43:36sure. I'm I'm not 100% certain he
- 43:38could win the championship on a KTMI.
- 43:40Think he would fight for it and I think.
- 43:42He would fight for it. It would make it interesting for
- 43:45sure. KTM, I don't think he.
- 43:46Could pull it off. Well, so the weird thing is Mark
- 43:50likes to wobbly, or kind of. He likes to push the front a lot
- 43:54and has that loose, weird front wobbly feeling that I think he
- 43:58likes. So it's kind of like, and it has
- 44:00the power. Like the way that these KTMS are
- 44:03freight training these Ducatis on straightaways right now is
- 44:05ridiculous. Like I thought ducks were the
- 44:08fastest thing. Sorry, I think he would.
- 44:11Have struggled quite a bit with the chatter, like they all
- 44:14struggled quite a bit like I think he's amazing, but I
- 44:16there's just some things like he just can't work around and I
- 44:18think that would have been a serious struggle that would have
- 44:21Hanford him at the the first half of the season.
- 44:24Like they seem like they've sort of figured it out to a degree.
- 44:26But Mark's big thing is he loves sliding the front.
- 44:29He loves being hard with brakes, really pushing that front into
- 44:32corners and if your rear tire is just entire time.
- 44:37Like how much can you? Trust when you have grip.
- 44:39Like when can you tell it's the phone chattering or the rear
- 44:41chattering kind of deal? So yeah, I think you could you.
- 44:45Make it interesting and I think he.
- 44:46Would make a serious attempt on the KTM for the championship.
- 44:49I just don't know if he could realistically pull it off.
- 44:52Yeah, it wouldn't be a. It wouldn't be a guarantee,
- 44:55that's for sure. I feel like they're brilliant.
- 44:59A brilliant would be I. Still would probably say it's a.
- 45:01Guarantee it would just be closer, but any other
- 45:06manufacturer from their light out of it's just it wouldn't
- 45:08work. Not with their current standing
- 45:10or where they're at. I mean, Mark is good, but he's
- 45:13you can't, you're not that good. Like, you can't be that good,
- 45:17you know? Like, yeah, since he's the
- 45:20Messiah, not God. Right, exactly.
- 45:24So OK. So.
- 45:24Mark in the 1st place who's? In 2nd and and 3rd and what do
- 45:28you what do you guys think? Where's Yamaha in in the
- 45:32standings and over the weekend? What do you guys think?
- 45:38Cataluna I think. Fabio, he'll put it in the.
- 45:40Top well in the Sprint, he'll probably put it in the top
- 45:43seven. I'll give him if he can finish
- 45:46the race and not wreck out in the first corner.
- 45:53I think, I think Fabio, I think Yamaha.
- 45:55'S probably Fabio will be top ten, but the rest of the Yamahas
- 46:00probably won't touch the top 10. They seem to struggle here last
- 46:04year. I mean, obviously different
- 46:05bikes to a degree, but they're all iterations on previous
- 46:07bikes. So especially with Honda doing
- 46:11better, I think they're probably going to chip away at some of
- 46:12their sort of successes that they had.
- 46:16And it looks like Aprilia and KTM did pretty well around
- 46:19Catalunya last year. So I think it would be a a
- 46:21pretty interesting race. I think it realistically could
- 46:23be up to anybody, OK. So we got Aprilia.
- 46:30So did you guys say Aprilia? You think Bazecki or Martini
- 46:34will be, you know, top five? I think I think Bazecki would
- 46:42certainly be top. 3. Benz is on a roll right now.
- 46:47You know, like. It's hard to, it's hard to
- 46:50really break that momentum when you got it going.
- 46:53So I do expect this game in the top three again as well, just
- 46:57like Tyson said. Okay.
- 47:02How about the you know, Alder gear?
- 47:05I know Alex hasn't been the same since he is injury, which is
- 47:10unfortunate, you know, because he's showing he's showing some
- 47:14pace but making some mistakes. So you think I you know, and
- 47:18same thing with mobile Delhi and Digia.
- 47:20How do you think the other Ducatis are going to fare and
- 47:22and even best back now you because we haven't talked about
- 47:25back now you much. But you know, I know you guys
- 47:28are saying he's he's he's done for the season, but Petco, Petco
- 47:32is not he's not. Mentally there, Petco is like
- 47:35somewhere on vacation, crying in a corner somewhere.
- 47:39Like he's mentally been checked out.
- 47:42I feel like, like he's yeah. I mean, I think he's.
- 47:47Obviously he's struggling, that's quite obvious.
- 47:51But I mean, you look at Fabio too, like I don't, I mean
- 47:54Fabio's no Jorge Martine or Fabio or Quattuaro or Marquez,
- 47:59but like he's still a quick rider and he's not doing
- 48:02anything on the 25. So I think generally the 25 is a
- 48:06was a the wrong development choice for Ducati, at least this
- 48:11year. Like who?
- 48:11Knows if. Whatever you know an iteration
- 48:14is better or not, but right and in all fitness.
- 48:18Mark does say there's issues with the bike, but he knows how
- 48:21to ride around it, right? So.
- 48:26He like he had to ride around Honda his.
- 48:27Whole career, well, he's like you guys are struggling with
- 48:30these. You would have died on the
- 48:32Honda. I I, I I.
- 48:38Yeah, I I I agree. I think so.
- 48:40I mean, I think that if I think the, the struggles that Marquez
- 48:44had on that Honda made him a better rider coming to Ducati.
- 48:49I mean, it's kind of like, you know, if you, if you grow up
- 48:51playing basketball on a crate and all of a sudden you're
- 48:53shooting in a, in a, in a, in a, in a rim, you're going to
- 48:57probably hit way more shots than you were hitting in that crate
- 48:59and probably be way more accurate kind of thing.
- 49:02Not the same way. Not to say I'm calling the Honda
- 49:04a crate, but milk crate I mean but.
- 49:08Yeah. What do you what do you guys
- 49:13think about? Al the gear, like I said, Mark,
- 49:19Alex Marquez and the the VR46 guys.
- 49:22I mean, I think it's a track that these guys have gone well
- 49:25at in the past and you know, can they?
- 49:29I mean, you know, if I was them, I would all work together and
- 49:31and try to get in Marquez in front of Marquez at different
- 49:34times of the race and see who, you know who nobody can make it
- 49:37at the end. Like in some maneuver into turn
- 49:401. Like exactly because because you
- 49:45know, you see that Bazecki fights, you see more Badeli
- 49:50fight, you see Digio fight, you see Acosta fight.
- 49:53You know, we haven't seen Fermin Alligator because he's just been
- 49:55further in the back and Mark just had so much time in front
- 49:58of him that he hasn't been able to do that.
- 50:01We have seen Alex fight with his brother, but you know he made
- 50:06one mistake and and that was that he could just questionable.
- 50:12Tell us. What you think and then you
- 50:15know, Tyson, you can, you can follow up after that.
- 50:18But yeah, you know, what do you think about the other Ducati
- 50:20riders and, and do they stay on the shot?
- 50:22And also the, the, the, the, the riders I mentioned, because
- 50:25they've kind of fought with, they've kind of been in front of
- 50:29Marquez in different sections of the race.
- 50:31I won't say they, they, they fought with him.
- 50:34Yeah, it's tough. Because I put up like.
- 50:37The finishes for last year, just to see kind of where everyone
- 50:41went at and it's like you got to pray that finished fourth.
- 50:45You, of course, you got Petco Martin Mark, Mark finished
- 50:49third, you know, so it's, it's, it's questionable to me because
- 50:54it's like I could maybe. Give Ben Seki.
- 50:58Like, just because he's on the road, give him the credit.
- 51:00Like he's going to be up front at some point, you know, so he's
- 51:04going to make a good solid fight for it.
- 51:06And he, he does have a fighter spirit, you know, he's not
- 51:08scared to light you up, you know, so he will send it.
- 51:12DG actually finished. Well, he was top five, he was in
- 51:15fifth, you know, but he's also struggling on a 25.
- 51:18So it's like, how does that translate now?
- 51:20You know, so all the, these Ducati guys that were out front
- 51:23last year are on 20 fives now and they're struggling except
- 51:27for Mark. That's where the, I feel like
- 51:29the other brands have a stock, you know, you can see their
- 51:32previews come up front. You can see the Hondas get back
- 51:35up there. That's it.
- 51:42That's sort of red stuff. It's, it's just like it.
- 51:46It's. Unpredictable.
- 51:47You could say it KTM. I mean, so I will.
- 51:52Say the KTM what Acosta, he's he's going to finish in the top
- 51:57five a wreck out, you know, like and he's not scared to fight you
- 52:01either. You know, like he's not scared
- 52:02to fight. He's not he he's not oh, you're
- 52:04a world champion. I don't care.
- 52:06I'm about to light you up inside stuff, you know, So like, he's
- 52:09definitely is going to send it as well.
- 52:12That's beautiful. Bassinini is showing signs of
- 52:16finally getting comfortable on the KTM, which he's phenomenal
- 52:21at. Late pace race, I mean late race
- 52:23pace, he always comes on strong. And I'm starting to see that
- 52:27over the last, what, 2 rounds? I think he started making
- 52:29strides. Then he won one round he wrecked
- 52:32out. But still, it's starting to show
- 52:34that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:35It's starting to show that. Sign of like him.
- 52:38Getting comfortable and then we do have to say we do have
- 52:41Maverick, which is coming back, granted, depending on his health
- 52:44and how he actually feels, this is a track to where he's fast
- 52:48at, you know, so he could mix up the grid a little bit here and
- 52:51there. And if the stars align, you
- 52:53know, he could be a threat as well.
- 52:55So there's a lot of, you know, the KTM boys.
- 52:58I can, honestly. See out.
- 52:59Out running the anyone on the on those ducks minus Mark.
- 53:06Yeah, I I agree, Alicia. Sparger is going to be in a
- 53:09race. I think that's his home track as
- 53:12well. I think he did well.
- 53:14If I'm not mistaken, he did well on the April year in 23 there I
- 53:17thought, I think he won. What was that year?
- 53:21He was he the last. He won.
- 53:21The he won. The Sprint.
- 53:23He won the Sprint. OK.
- 53:24Yeah, yeah, because. He did he like, think the race
- 53:26was over? Early and like pulled up
- 53:28celebrating years ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 53:31They were showing that all. Over like Instagram and YouTube
- 53:34today. It was hilarious.
- 53:35But that's the problem too for the grid.
- 53:37Because. Elisha at that strike is fast so
- 53:40it's like low key he can snatch one of those top ten positions
- 53:43right from underneath somebody like easy yeah right from.
- 53:49Yes. Oh man.
- 53:55Yeah, he could. And and you know, the Honda is
- 53:58in the top four, top six. So the Honda is definitely
- 54:01quick. But what are your thoughts,
- 54:04Tyson? You agree kind of with what Sir
- 54:06John is saying as far as did we miss anyone that can be
- 54:11competitive with Mark right now, I'm really high on.
- 54:14Fuhrman, I really didn't have too many thoughts on him last
- 54:18year. And really at the beginning of
- 54:19this year I was like, yeah, we'll see how he does.
- 54:21You know, he seems to be a hot commodity, but I haven't
- 54:24necessarily seen anything out of him.
- 54:26But, you know, other than Mark doing his fun hot laps at the
- 54:30end of the race in the 30 sevens, he was the only other
- 54:33racer in the 30 sevens. Like if he didn't and that was
- 54:36after he crashed, if he hadn't have crashed, could he have kept
- 54:40up with? Mark, could he have actually
- 54:41like pushed? Him into a couple corners, like
- 54:43I don't think he would have beat him, but I could see him making
- 54:45like a, you know, showing a wheel and then mark just being
- 54:47like good luck next time kid, and then like so.
- 54:52I I think if it was. A video game and you could turn
- 54:54off tirewear. He, he, he would, he, he would
- 54:58definitely beat Mark. But I, I think, you know, Mark
- 55:02has all, has pretty much everyone's number in the sense
- 55:07that like, OK, yeah, I know this dude is fast because I see, I
- 55:09see his times and I got the data and stuff like that.
- 55:13But he's starting back here and he's, he already knows like, all
- 55:16right, he's going to have to burn, you know, he's going to
- 55:18have to keep this pace to catch up to me.
- 55:20And, and as long as I, I, I'm, I'm ahead of him by a second and
- 55:23a half, I'm good. And he's going to run out of
- 55:26tire because like you get, like you guys said, he just waits
- 55:29until somebody makes a mistake or somebody just burns their
- 55:32tire out too soon. And, and then he, and then he
- 55:36pounces. So I, I, I think for Furman, he
- 55:39has to qualify well. And then when I say, well, he
- 55:42got to be at least top six and, and then he's going to have to
- 55:46just become the bigger than the race.
- 55:49You'll have some real good races.
- 55:50If you can get tops like first or second row qualifying, he's
- 55:54going to have some good races coming up and I think he's
- 55:57realistically, I think Ducati should be looking at him for
- 56:00some future plans. I mean, obviously if his
- 56:02performances continue kind of deal and you know he keeps it
- 56:05up, but he don't have, you know, he's he's.
- 56:09Yeah, he signed. With Ducati specifically, not
- 56:11with Garcini or nothing like he signed to Ducati contract.
- 56:14Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's the interesting.
- 56:17Part to. Where it's like they're planning
- 56:19on him being the star, yeah, but that's just like his contract
- 56:23ends at. The end of 2026, correct?
- 56:25Correct. Yes.
- 56:27Yes, yes, yes. So it'll be yes.
- 56:29It'll be interesting to see what I I think.
- 56:31You know, I remember, I think it was a Bobby Shakes, I forget who
- 56:34said that, that, you know, Alex Marquez could get a factory
- 56:39seat. And then when he said it, I
- 56:41thought he was crazy. But then after seeing what Alex
- 56:44Marquez did. But, you know, I think the next
- 56:46year the factory seat is open for Furman or any other rider
- 56:53that does better than I think back night or next year.
- 56:55Yeah, I mean, I would love to see Alex.
- 56:58Doing better. I mean, he's obviously in
- 56:59second. He's doing a great job this
- 57:00year. It's the best he's done in
- 57:01motor, whatever. But much like Bez or Frankie or
- 57:06Veniales, like you got to put a whole season together, you know,
- 57:10like you can't just have 5 good races and then the rest of them
- 57:13mediocre. Like I don't think that
- 57:16performance, like if you can pull out another second next
- 57:19year, I'd say Ducati probably looks at him realistically.
- 57:22But other than that, I doubt they're actually looking at him
- 57:24for a realistic contract on their team.
- 57:27You know, listen, Mayor. You know, won a world title and
- 57:31didn't win 5 races. The late, great Nikki Hayden
- 57:36didn't win 5 races and won a title.
- 57:38I mean, I know it's a different time now because there's Mark
- 57:40Marquez and he's healthy and, and on the best bike on the
- 57:43grid. But you know, you, it, it, it
- 57:46does happen. That's the thing.
- 57:47The Spurs won a championship too.
- 57:48But you know, that's, I mean, it certainly does.
- 57:50It's just one of the like. It goes with like the grid to a
- 57:53degree, you know, like, depends on how other people are doing
- 57:56it. If I had a choice between Furman
- 57:58and Alex and Furman was like behind Alex next year in the
- 58:01championship and just on fire, I probably would probably take him
- 58:04over Alex and leave Alex and Cosini.
- 58:06Like he's getting older too. I mean, he's not ancient or
- 58:09anything, but you know, was he 2930?
- 58:11Yeah, and and I think Furman. Is a better rider than Alex in
- 58:16the sense that I think Furman to me, and I've said this on air,
- 58:21Furman is Aldiga is a better rider than Acosta because when
- 58:25Furman was in the European series on a Moto 2 bike and and
- 58:30Acosta was in Moto 3, like he was nasty on that European
- 58:34series and stuff like that. And, you know, even his first
- 58:37year in Moto 2, he Furman was nice.
- 58:41And then once he got that Ducati contract, it was almost like all
- 58:44of a sudden, you know, he, he was, you know, taking days off,
- 58:47it felt like. And, and in Moto 2, you know
- 58:50what I'm saying, which if you signed him, I know you're trying
- 58:52to save your body for Moto GP, but like, you signed the Moto 2.
- 58:56So you know what I'm saying? Like you should, you should, he
- 58:59should have showed up last year in Moto 2.
- 59:00And I think he, he, he kind of just, you know, I don't know, he
- 59:04made mistakes, was kind of doing silly stuff and stuff like that
- 59:07towards even after they after, after Ducati announced that
- 59:11because he forced Ducati to say he had the factory contract at
- 59:14Phillip Island. And and and so when that
- 59:16happened and after that, he just kind of, you know, like you just
- 59:20got, you just got rich and just started partying, not taking it
- 59:27seriously. And but it's so it's good to see
- 59:29him, you know, being competitive now and, and, and he's a rookie
- 59:33and which is which is really also impressive.
- 59:37You know, it's it's good to see that that year was just kind of
- 59:40what it was. But at the same time, I think
- 59:42the team from last year didn't get the the firm in that
- 59:46Grasini's getting this year, yeah.
- 59:51I think unless I've. Missed anything?
- 59:53I think we've covered a lot for what's coming to what's coming
- 59:58for Moto GP this round, so if I missed anything or if you guys
- 1:00:02want to, you know, bring up something, you know, now will be
- 1:00:04time, guys. Let's see what happens.
- 1:00:11I like that I. I I like.
- 1:00:13That definitely see what happens and, and, and also, I guess I, I
- 1:00:19don't know if you guys have seen this.
- 1:00:20So we'll, we'll leave on this note.
- 1:00:23There is a, a, a finance group that's looking to buy Formula
- 1:00:29One. Will you guys, you know, I don't
- 1:00:32know if you've heard about that. And you know, right now Liberty
- 1:00:37Media Groups own Formula One and they own, I believe it 80% if
- 1:00:41not all of Moto GP. So if Liberty was to sell
- 1:00:45Formula One, now all of a sudden that pie gets a lot smaller for
- 1:00:49with just Moto GP. But you guys, I don't know if
- 1:00:52you heard anything about that and if you have or if you're
- 1:00:54just hearing it now, what do you think is like Formula One should
- 1:00:57be sold? I mean, if it's, who owns the?
- 1:01:08Death of Formula One. Say again, who owns it?
- 1:01:13Yeah, that's really. Who owns it right now?
- 1:01:15Liberty Media Group Same. Owners, They bought a media,
- 1:01:19yeah. OK.
- 1:01:20Yeah, and they bought it 10. Years ago, 15 years ago,
- 1:01:23something like that, something like that.
- 1:01:24Mid twenty 10s they bought it from and I think it's a it's a
- 1:01:28middle. Eastern I or Saudi group that's
- 1:01:30trying to buy it off for ridiculous money, but they, I
- 1:01:33think they, they turned them down once and they, and they,
- 1:01:35and they're back at the table again trying to say, Hey, you
- 1:01:39know, which I mean, you know, if it was to go to, I assume if
- 1:01:43you're trying to buy something and they own two companies,
- 1:01:45you'd probably try to get both, right?
- 1:01:47Moto GP and Formula One, because I, I can see the package deal
- 1:01:52having Moto GP in that camp because, you know, I think
- 1:01:55they're trying to bring Moto GP into where Formula One is as far
- 1:02:00as entertainment value. And also kind of you look at
- 1:02:02what you see in it with I, I, I would say European soccer with
- 1:02:05shakes. It says it's just soccer.
- 1:02:07We see what's happening. Oh, oh, I should say.
- 1:02:10Football. My bad.
- 1:02:12With with, with, with football over there as as far as the
- 1:02:15amount of money and the and the crowds and stuff like that.
- 1:02:19I I doubt they can sell Moto. GP because they just got Moto
- 1:02:23GP, did they not in like the last eight months, something
- 1:02:25like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:26But my guess? Is there's some sort of like
- 1:02:29contracts? On how long they can possess it
- 1:02:31and stuff like that. So I obviously I have no idea.
- 1:02:35I have no idea what's in those contracts, but right from
- 1:02:38Martine does. Oh boy.
- 1:02:45Oh boy. You got to read them contracts,
- 1:02:49man. Oh, man, but you're right, we
- 1:02:50don't know. And, and I and I and I hope it's
- 1:02:52just somebody, it's just a team that's, I mean, it's just a
- 1:02:55company that's looking and they stick around because, yeah, like
- 1:02:59I, I just really started watching Formula One more often
- 1:03:02in the last few years. But it's very entertaining and,
- 1:03:06and I like what they're doing and, and I see what's the stuff
- 1:03:09they've already done in Moto GP and, and how much better Moto GP
- 1:03:13is, not necessarily from a writer perspective, but from an
- 1:03:16entertainment perspective. As far as logging on, as far as
- 1:03:19just, you know, how the the press conferences are now and
- 1:03:23stuff like that, which is if you're, if you're long in the
- 1:03:26tooth, as someone like to say, you probably might not like to
- 1:03:30change because you always want to see the top three writers in
- 1:03:32the press conference. Well, it's nice to see other
- 1:03:34writers in the press conference now.
- 1:03:36Yeah, so. It is.
- 1:03:39It is good to get that at the marketing.
- 1:03:41Out there. I like Liberty Media.
- 1:03:43They've obviously done quite a bit with Formula One.
- 1:03:45Formula One's more popular than it's ever been.
- 1:03:47My only problem with Liberty Media is that they love St.
- 1:03:50circuits and I hate St. circuits.
- 1:03:53Like they're terrible circuits. Like at first they were fun and
- 1:03:58now it's like now that there's like whatever 8 St. circuits on
- 1:04:01the calendar, it's like come on. Like there's great tracks like
- 1:04:03they go to Vegas and Miami, like go to Rd.
- 1:04:06Atlanta. That would be sick.
- 1:04:08That is a sick track. That would be.
- 1:04:11I have no idea how. Realistic it is for Moto.
- 1:04:13GP but I would much rather go to Rd.
- 1:04:15Atlanta. Than go to.
- 1:04:16Miami and spend 3 grand on tickets just to go to the
- 1:04:20Dolphins parking lot. Like I just want to be sad.
- 1:04:23Go to the Dolphins. Game, you know?
- 1:04:25Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:26So, Louis. Louis, that's Ortega.
- 1:04:28That's on our The Monday show. We've talked about this a bunch
- 1:04:32and it comes down to the facility, you know, you got, you
- 1:04:38got Moto GP, you got Moto 2, you got Moto 3, you know, so it's
- 1:04:43nice when you can, you can have a paddock that can hold all that
- 1:04:47and that's the downside. So I think they would have to
- 1:04:48build up something or create something temporary to make that
- 1:04:51work. And a street circuit.
- 1:04:55No, just even. That Rd.
- 1:04:56Atlanta. Like they need, you need a
- 1:04:59paddock space kind of thing to hold all, all the big rigs and,
- 1:05:03and, and everything and not, and not bump, you know, certain
- 1:05:07people into tents. Kind of cause like now some of
- 1:05:09the track, we'll see some of the Moto 3IN in tents and canopies
- 1:05:13and stuff like that. But I think that's more for show
- 1:05:15and tell when they do the walkthrough.
- 1:05:17But it, you know, I think that's the biggest thing It's just
- 1:05:19having I think the US would have to either modify a facility to
- 1:05:24house Moto GP. We'll build a facility that can,
- 1:05:28can, can, can house it like like Coda, essentially.
- 1:05:33Fortunate, though, like we have these great.
- 1:05:35Tracks like objectively the layouts and like you know how
- 1:05:38the tracks run and their flow, they're amazing tracks, but like
- 1:05:42they don't have the money coming into them like Coda.
- 1:05:44Like why do they go to Coda so they can have 200,000 people pay
- 1:05:47tickets every every day. Why do they go to Coda?
- 1:05:49Because they have that money influx to build those, you know,
- 1:05:53media tents and media, you know, buildings and the garages and
- 1:05:57that sort of stuff. Like, I mean, assuming to get
- 1:05:59sort of like a similar level of what do you want to call it sort
- 1:06:02of like infrastructure. At any other track that isn't
- 1:06:06Coda Indy or Laguna would be 10s of millions of dollars.
- 1:06:11And I guarantee none of them want to spend that kind of money
- 1:06:14for the amount of money that Moto GP realistically will be
- 1:06:16giving them for the event to come there.
- 1:06:20So yeah, no, I think it's going to have to be just.
- 1:06:23Some, you know, you know, maybe Keanu, Keanu Reeves might want
- 1:06:26to spend some of his movie money and build a track.
- 1:06:31He'll probably do it for Canada first, but you know, like it.
- 1:06:35That's the downside. I mean, and I think that's the
- 1:06:37huge biggest thing with racing in the US is getting the
- 1:06:41facilities right. So that way you can have these
- 1:06:44big shows and stuff like that, you know, and even, you know,
- 1:06:49like, even like, I know New Hampshire Speedway's starting to
- 1:06:51do more concerts now and stuff like that.
- 1:06:53So. And New Hampshire Speed is, you
- 1:06:56know, despite what it is for NASCAR, they're like, they have
- 1:06:59the facilities big enough to to house everything, but, you know,
- 1:07:03they're just known for Oval track.
- 1:07:05So that's the downside. Yeah.
- 1:07:07I mean no realistic professional.
- 1:07:08Organization is going to go to Loudon for a motorcycle track.
- 1:07:13No, Well, you know, I mean, you know, more America riders.
- 1:07:15Are showing up for the classic, and that's just they're choosing
- 1:07:18to on their own. But, you know, I, I think at
- 1:07:22some point they're going. To they're going to like the
- 1:07:25teams are going to show up because it's it's you know, so I
- 1:07:30can't I. Can't speak for.
- 1:07:31Any of the teams or anyone else in.
- 1:07:33But like, from our perspective, we want, we're trying to grow
- 1:07:36the sport, the sport, you know, US riders were the biggest
- 1:07:40riders in the world at one time, you know what I mean?
- 1:07:43And, and so it, it, it would it, you know, it's a sacrifice for,
- 1:07:47for, I guess people like us and, and whoever is trying to, you
- 1:07:51know, rebuild or help build, you know, racing in the US.
- 1:07:55So you would think that it's, you know, teams and I get it,
- 1:07:58you know, there's a price on everything.
- 1:07:59But it, it would make sense for, for, for teams to show up and,
- 1:08:04and run and, and do that. And it's still good money.
- 1:08:06I mean, granted, you know, they, some of these writers make way
- 1:08:08more money than what Loudon's giving out.
- 1:08:10But you know, 60 grand is a lot of money to in, in, in a weekend
- 1:08:14and stuff like that. And from a nostalgia
- 1:08:17perspective, as you know, Tyson, it's the, it's the oldest Rd.
- 1:08:20racing series in the country. You know, it's been around for
- 1:08:24over 100. They've been racing over 100
- 1:08:26years. But I, you know, it, it, it
- 1:08:30comes down to numbers and that's the downside of it.
- 1:08:32But I I do think teams should show up or allow their riders to
- 1:08:36show up even if they want to come on and bring their own bike
- 1:08:38and bring their own team. I think that's it, guys.
- 1:08:45Well, I want to thank you guys for coming on.
- 1:08:47I really appreciate it. We we've been kind of chatting
- 1:08:51offline, you know about coming on and that's kind of how you
- 1:08:55guys connected with us and stuff like that because you guys
- 1:08:59follow the show and it was nice to have you on and talk Moto GP
- 1:09:02as well. And I hope to have you guys on
- 1:09:04again. I really appreciate it, Tyson
- 1:09:07and Sir John Hampton, I really appreciate it.
- 1:09:09Thank you guys for coming on tonight.
- 1:09:11Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:09:11Appreciate it. Thanks so much, Rexy.
- 1:09:13Thanks, Peace.
