Transcript
- 0:00Hi friends, you listening to lose the plot with color and
- 0:02Emily. Welcome to part 1 of reading
- 0:05where the Crawdad sing by Delia Owens.
- 0:08We are covering chapters 1 to 21 in this episode.
- 0:11So warning there will be spoilers.
- 0:28I'm Carla and off seen Brandi do It's a bitch Fest better
- 0:31behaved. I'm Emily and I'm about as
- 0:34useless as tits on a boar hog nervous, giggle.
- 0:40I'm actually lucky excited to talk about this book because
- 0:45it's a bit different than the usual smart.
- 0:47We've been reading lately. Yeah, it's a bit, it's a bit
- 0:50more brainy a bit more big brain, a bit more big brain.
- 0:55If you're expecting a full articulate review, this is
- 1:00Probably not the podcast. Oh, I know.
- 1:03You know how we choose your little quotes.
- 1:05That was fun. I had one, and I was like, mmm,
- 1:08too intelligent. It's too intelligent.
- 1:11It's to profession, it's true to elegant, that's really get to
- 1:17classy. So we're about to tear this book
- 1:20and ah, right the reason why I picked this was my pick.
- 1:24It was your pic. Yeah, it was my pick.
- 1:26I picked this book because there's a new movie based on it
- 1:30and there's a lot of hype about it right now.
- 1:31So I'm like me and Emily need to read this and get into why it's
- 1:35so popular right now. That's about it.
- 1:37Yeah, that's about it. Did.
- 1:38I also message you to see if you were Still reading it.
- 1:41So I didn't have to read it hahaha.
- 1:45Wow, it's okay. It's outside of the norm, which
- 1:47is probably a good thing and actually is a beautifully
- 1:50written book. It's just if you're not on like
- 1:55a level where you read them type of books constantly, it is too
- 1:59hard to digest. I don't know whether I'm just
- 2:02that stupid or well. My brains like not fully formed
- 2:06enough but it was struggle. You just got a jelly bean in
- 2:09there instead of Fish is bouncing around being honest.
- 2:14I got the general part 4 part 1 of this book, but I skimmed all
- 2:18of us. Okay.
- 2:19That's fine. I'm sure there's lots of nuggets
- 2:21of information, but I did start getting interested towards the
- 2:24end. Yeah, so it's fine.
- 2:26It's fine. This book is set in North
- 2:28Carolina in the 1950s and then 60 feet.
- 2:33So it sort of flips between that's why I was really confused
- 2:36at the beginning. I was like, wait what timeline
- 2:38are we in? And then I realized the pattern,
- 2:39yeah, I switch. Between the younger version of
- 2:42her and then we don't quite know what's happening with the older.
- 2:44But yeah, so the younger versions of her at the heart of
- 2:47its to read, it is purely because and it's actually very
- 2:51small when you think about it. The author just rotor a
- 2:53literate, right up until she learns to read.
- 2:57So that's why it's really hard to read until you get to about
- 3:00chapter 18. Yeah.
- 3:04Then things start picking up a bit more.
- 3:05Yeah. And then it's a lot easier to
- 3:08read. Do I know anything about North
- 3:12Carolina? No, no.
- 3:13Whenever you say swamp or Marsh, I just went to Louisiana in my
- 3:17mind. That's it.
- 3:18And I don't even know. Nothing about, I know.
- 3:19Nothing. I just went to mud.
- 3:22I went to Shrek. I went to one of the greatest
- 3:26love stories of all time. Shrek Shrek.
- 3:29Okay, swamp Shrek is love. Shrek is life.
- 3:38Let's Dive Right In, okay. Swamp.
- 3:41Oh sorry correction. It's a marsh not a swamp.
- 3:43Yeah. Marsh have light swamp to
- 3:45disgusting that distinction at this time the book like don't
- 3:50you dare call this a small poem like God I'm on board.
- 3:52Okay, it's okay. We get it.
- 3:54Give us the marsh marshmallows. Yes, we love a stinky swamp.
- 4:03How are you breaking the rules already, the first rule about
- 4:06Marsh is it not said that? This is the first rule of marsh
- 4:12Club, okay? So we don't, we don't know much
- 4:17about her mama. The first thing we hear about
- 4:20her mama, is she just fucking walked out in her alligator
- 4:23booties? And I'm here, gator boots, her
- 4:25gator boots, her, gait a boot. She's like, these are going to
- 4:28fetch me a pretty penny. When I make it to the city,
- 4:30while I'm strolling through the forest.
- 4:31And you know what? I Almost judged her, almost
- 4:34almost until. And this is exactly how par was
- 4:38even brought into it. His first quote in the entire
- 4:41book was where's dinner and I was like, done done divorce.
- 4:46It's not quit. I quit and sold it all made
- 4:50sense. It all made sense.
- 4:52And you know what? I'm disappointed in him than
- 4:54most surprisingly enough? I'm disappointed in him.
- 4:57The most I'm not surprised I'm yeah, but there was a bit of a
- 5:01Redemption are That's a tie but we'll get back.
- 5:04We'll get to that West Wing, Zachary on.
- 5:06So we're only being we're being introduced to par we understand
- 5:10that it's in the 50s. So this is a different time a
- 5:12different place. I don't have much of my own
- 5:16personal information to back any of this, on the time, just on
- 5:19time. On that little Marsh.
- 5:20Marsh boat - boat, I'm winding down.
- 5:24That Marsh, you're winding. I did the weeds.
- 5:27So, my leaves mmm because pars like, alcohol and asshole.
- 5:32He's an Alcoholic, these on eight ability were made for
- 5:35walking, and I want my children. And then, you know, the all the
- 5:39other children followed. Very imagine.
- 5:43While like actually so this is the saddest story.
- 5:47I think I've ever read it. I will be just a laughing.
- 5:50You did it giggling. I can't do.
- 5:53Ya know it. It's like you're trying to be
- 5:55really sad for her but then they say shit like gator boots and
- 5:58then there's something about that Vixen of a fox just left
- 6:02her kids laughing. How come our is hot?
- 6:06Her mom's hot. She's hot and I get it.
- 6:08She is the moment. She is young, so there's nothing
- 6:11hotter than a woman in a gated boot.
- 6:13Paints. Are you kidding?
- 6:14Yeah. Yeah.
- 6:15Yeah, yeah. And she just walks out of her
- 6:17family's life, she's like by, if this was 2022, she would be the
- 6:23girl with Patchwork tattoos palings doing Pottery.
- 6:27That's the mum, an artistic Queen in her gator boots.
- 6:30Mmm. The thing I guess that we don't
- 6:34get much is why and I know this is sort of part of it, why
- 6:39didn't you at least take any of the youngest one at least.
- 6:43Yeah, because her so Kyra is the youngest of.
- 6:48I don't know how much pain. There's a fair few.
- 6:50There's yeah, yes. And then her brother Jodi, whose
- 6:57real name is Jeremy, so they all don't go by their names is seven
- 7:01years older. So he leaves when he's 14, he's
- 7:04out of it. And I'm pretty sure it goes.
- 7:07Then it goes like 16, 21 23. Yep, or something.
- 7:11So she's substantially younger. At least the mom could have
- 7:15taught her. I know.
- 7:17So we understand that Kaya is the main character.
- 7:20So we're seeing all of this through her eyes and at the very
- 7:24beginning, I think she's six. Yeah, that's the youngest we see
- 7:27her and that's why it's really hard to read and her mom walks
- 7:30out and then we sort of just getting a landscape of where
- 7:33she's actually living in the people around her.
- 7:35There was like a little, a lot of weird world-building moments
- 7:39that really didn't need to be in there but it's fine.
- 7:43I feel Like we needed that because I me having no context
- 7:46was like, okay. Give me all the cons.
- 7:48Yeah. But I don't care about the
- 7:49Piggly. Wiggly.
- 7:50The judgmental staff at the Piggly.
- 7:52Wiggly, where did I get this quote from?
- 7:54You can be Captain. I think it was when she was
- 7:57hanging out with us. One of her siblings as her
- 7:59sister left, didn't she? The older one and then Jodie
- 8:02left. Yeah, so Jodi was the last one
- 8:03to leave. They kind of dissolve left in
- 8:05and water. Just imagine all of your
- 8:08siblings slowly disappearing without even wanting or telling
- 8:11you. And then you're just Last one
- 8:13left. You lost one and you have no
- 8:16life skills and no communication.
- 8:19Yeah. She's living off grits.
- 8:21By the way, that's foul. I had to Google.
- 8:25What? Great?
- 8:25It's disgusting. I never knew what it was.
- 8:29It's just crushed up corn. It's slop like yeah, gets mixed
- 8:32into like a porridge E-Type consistency, but the thing is
- 8:36grits to us is dog food. Yeah.
- 8:39Dry dog food. So whenever I look at Ritz, I
- 8:41think When I think about the word grits I'm like, it's got to
- 8:46be hard crispy. Yeah, it would make sense for it
- 8:49to be crispy. Not creamy and wonder what that
- 8:51tastes like. Sade prison food sloppy.
- 8:55Are you kidding already? So yeah.
- 8:58Well her siblings are gone she's left with her abusive ask Dad.
- 9:01Yeah, who just goes off at days at a time and this is even when
- 9:04she's six. Yeah.
- 9:07I don't keep really knows that they all left.
- 9:09I'm pretty sure he's. So he's out of it.
- 9:11Yeah, he's an alcoholic. He comes.
- 9:13Back one day and he's just like, oh, where is everyone?
- 9:15Not even his wife. Does he properly investigate
- 9:18Where She Went sort of thing? Yeah, he didn't even respond
- 9:22about it. He's like, we're in an era where
- 9:24our and there was some of the when he the thing I struggled
- 9:27with the most, in the first couple of parts has the randomly
- 9:32added words, she'd be like, Park us dogged out.
- 9:36The fuck, does that mean? He said what she says, Park
- 9:39Hospital dogged out like dog, like a wolf but that would be
- 9:43The other things like there was one key frog limp to his boat.
- 9:46And with the fuck you must be particular way to limp body frog
- 9:52went right back into that house. It was just adding more
- 9:54description for us just in case. You know what pissed me off
- 9:58about the brother leaving. He slapped down.
- 10:03You're so mad already when Jody left.
- 10:06And he talks to Kya one-on-one for a second and she sort of got
- 10:09the idea. He's probably going to fuck off
- 10:10now. He literally goes You'll
- 10:13understand when you're older. She really knows that her dad's
- 10:15an abusive alcoholic asshole. Despite she hides in the marsh
- 10:19and she knows that he's punched up her mum.
- 10:21He's she's seen it. There's actually a bit in the
- 10:23end of this part where she flashes back to when she was
- 10:27getting belted. Yep, bare ass on the table.
- 10:30She does not have to be older to understand that because he just
- 10:32goes you'll understand when you're older.
- 10:34It's like so you just going to leave her there and you just
- 10:36want to leave her to be the sole childlike.
- 10:38I know that was probably more her mum's responsibility to take
- 10:40her but as the older-brother Other seven years, older, I'm
- 10:43on, I'm pretty sure the oldest kid that left was 21 at the time
- 10:4723. So there she is, just living in
- 10:50the swamp. Not knowing, when her dad's
- 10:52going to come back all the time. Yeah, imagine that trying to
- 10:54work out food. She's a living off grits and
- 10:57turnips. And then he comes back one day
- 10:59and he actually gives her a dollar out of his disability
- 11:03payment. Yes.
- 11:04Because he was injured at War and I think it only gets her
- 11:08grits and a candle or something. I only loved her when she was a
- 11:12little kid. I'd say things like this little
- 11:14piggy went to Market just randomly in there.
- 11:17I'm like, yeah. And then it was like this little
- 11:20piggy was lost. One home was something, I was
- 11:21like, oh my God, stop it. Stop it.
- 11:25Yeah. So she had one dollar in loose
- 11:27coins and that was food for the whole week, three for the whole
- 11:30week and dad was pretty much like, yeah, you're old enough.
- 11:33You're going to do these chores that chores.
- 11:34That's what's going to. Yeah, you know, that's what's
- 11:37going to get you by for the $1 and loose coins per week.
- 11:42That's foul. Yeah, I don't know.
- 11:45So she's visiting town for the first time ever, so that would
- 11:47be intimidating. Oh, yeah.
- 11:48At six and everyone treats her like, she's a legitimate gutter
- 11:52rat, like she has a choice, like she has a choice.
- 11:56I know, she says, shoeless. She probably has a bomb in the
- 12:00marsh. She just climbed out of the
- 12:04marsh whenever she needs to go Little Brush man.
- 12:07And can you imagine people in their little Frills and dainty
- 12:09clothes? Just being like, Oh, I did.
- 12:12Yeah. Duh, no, she looked at my
- 12:16children. It's real.
- 12:20When they describe her going into town, they described her
- 12:22going along the road, but every single time someone left, they
- 12:26went through the forest. So I'm wondering if they're just
- 12:28a town over some something better and she's just very
- 12:32unaware. I think she has to vote to get
- 12:35close enough to town. I don't know what was going on
- 12:37that first time though. It made it seem like they're
- 12:40deep in the marsh like they have to use a boat to get somewhere
- 12:43to be on a road. Yes, the idea that I got imagine
- 12:47having to use the drive-thru window because you have a
- 12:49vagina. Why?
- 12:52For so the Piggly Wiggly. Yeah, there's the storefront,
- 12:55where you can walk in if your proper and white.
- 12:57Yeah. And then the drive-thru and
- 12:59mail, the drive-thru is for women and asked to skimmed,
- 13:04right through the mistake was sort of explaining the system.
- 13:08Yeah so she was smart enough. Do not go right into the store
- 13:10because that's mainly for men to go in and talk to the Palace.
- 13:13It is like front facing people. And then the, the little Butler
- 13:17window on the side is for a few female and I can do like no,
- 13:21that makes no sense. Because if you think about
- 13:23females do all the chores, well, I get in my cat setting like
- 13:27this. Maybe they weren't allowed to
- 13:28barter though, check the prices speak properly in the store
- 13:31itself. And then, if you weren't even
- 13:34white, don't even think about it, you've got a whole nother
- 13:36town you live in. You don't, you're not even
- 13:38allowed the Casual racism. Well yeah, yeah.
- 13:41It wasn't even casual. It's in your face.
- 13:43It's yeah, that's why. I mean actual systemic racism,
- 13:47the actual racism. Yes, colored tint.
- 13:49So don't even think about it. So in, in a way, she has a step
- 13:53above simply by being wide, but then it's not much because they
- 13:56treat her. Like complete gonna gas like a
- 13:59little yield the river. Yeah, this whole town is trash
- 14:03is full of trash white people, that's it.
- 14:05Yeah, I love how she literally got cold.
- 14:09Trash. I'm not a god.
- 14:12Like she is a Piggly Wiggly staff even know it was some
- 14:14random lady because they kneel it.
- 14:17These kids nearly knocked her off.
- 14:18You riding past them, you can clearly see she's a small child
- 14:22that has got no fucking shoes on.
- 14:26Can't that have had her hair's probably mattered and you're
- 14:29like, oh I was uh, swamp crash not like oh can I buy you lunch?
- 14:32Are you kidding? They didn't have money to give
- 14:34they didn't not going to be charitable towards and she
- 14:38didn't have anyone to defend. End her and she sticks just
- 14:41going to fall down by yourself. It's just a bit wild.
- 14:43Anyway, the town is foul and that's all that matters.
- 14:47Hmm, so she picked up like a big bag.
- 14:49Grits for that one dollar, I can just lie, big bag.
- 14:53I'm big bad home later. She sort of just pondering to
- 14:57herself and then she's like, I reckon I'm 17.
- 15:00Now since my birth he didn't reckon.
- 15:04She tells birds that she feeds her grits too.
- 15:08Yeah. Her only Friends.
- 15:09All the birds. Yeah.
- 15:11In the marsh, the most of the slide follow me living
- 15:14creatures. Yeah.
- 15:16Just a monk's. The Wilderness, really?
- 15:18Yeah, if you think about it, she's got no other way to live.
- 15:21She's a Wilderness girl if they weren't poor.
- 15:25And she was well fed involved. Look after.
- 15:27And I just saw, she would probably be living the kid's
- 15:30dream. If it, you know, you took away
- 15:33that alcoholic. Father, everything old every
- 15:36everything else. Yeah.
- 15:37True. Because What kid wouldn't want
- 15:40to live amongst nature like that?
- 15:43I feel like if you let kids never bathe, they would love
- 15:45that. Just being naked out in the
- 15:46middle of nowhere. They would get hurt and die but
- 15:49still, they would love it. Oh yeah, they probably get like
- 15:52scary or something, you know. So by this stage, we're familiar
- 15:56with who Kaya is and her situation and then we do a bit
- 15:59of a Time Warp and I was a bit confused at first but I caught
- 16:02it on after a while so we are introduced to chase Andrews.
- 16:06Yeah, as a grown man. Yeah was found so.
- 16:09By the age he would have been about 23.
- 16:13I think so early 20s. Yep, found dead.
- 16:17In the wash. Mmm.
- 16:18Pushed off about town. What to tell.
- 16:21Ya look like he fell. Yeah.
- 16:23And then there was potentially Footprints cleaned away or he
- 16:26was on his own. Yeah we're getting the police
- 16:30description of what's happened, I guess.
- 16:32Yeah. But we don't know much about
- 16:34Chase Andrews. Really?
- 16:35Not like he's one of the bullies out of school so far.
- 16:39He's He's one of the kids that knocked her over with the bike.
- 16:41He's got the best bike. Apparently, he's got the best
- 16:44bike at this point. Chase when he was dead.
- 16:47He was a quarterback married married fucking around with
- 16:52every other woman in town. The problem with Chase Andrews
- 16:57is you never know who the actual culprit could be?
- 17:00Because if you think about it, if he is messing around with all
- 17:03these married women. Yeah, of course all their
- 17:06husbands are going to easily after.
- 17:08Yeah. He Little wrap the way they
- 17:10describe this exact right moment.
- 17:15They go come on it. You know how Chase was tomcat
- 17:18and run around like a pinball? Let out for he was married after
- 17:21he was married with single girls married women.
- 17:23I seen Randy dogs at a bitch that happy.
- 17:27I know he was getting it, he was everywhere.
- 17:30I would be the little SD D Gremlin of the Town.
- 17:34Well, I feel like back in the day they weren't as aware of
- 17:37sexually transmitted infections night.
- 17:40So maybe he took himself out he's like I'm causing too much.
- 17:45Will and physical damage. He fell off the towel while like
- 17:49pondering his life because he's got an itchy dick because he's
- 17:54like, I don't know what medications are going on.
- 17:56So they don't have much to go on the people around his age with
- 17:59the ones who found him in the middle of nowhere.
- 18:01No, I think it was younger boys. All right, because I get
- 18:05confused. It's not.
- 18:05Okay. So there was some younger boys
- 18:08who saw his dead body and then they freaked out backtracked and
- 18:11went straight to the chef. It was that the sheriff was kind
- 18:14of confused about. About if, when they usually go
- 18:17out there, especially Chase, they usually go out with a pack
- 18:20of people and they were like, where are the footprints wise
- 18:24him by himself? Writes going on, and they're
- 18:26sort of speculating. Maybe he got involved with
- 18:28drugs. I don't know why drugs would be
- 18:29deep in the marsh, but probably to be hidden.
- 18:31I mean nothing. So maybe he went to go do a drug
- 18:35deal and it went bad and then ya got clocked or they were
- 18:39thinking he's had a lot of Affairs.
- 18:41He's been running around town and it's not shoe, it's a small
- 18:44town. Oh yeah, everybody would know
- 18:46his business. Yeah.
- 18:48Why is he still in this town? If he's this big, don't want a
- 18:51little bit and start again. I know it's just interesting but
- 18:54maybe because he got married there.
- 18:56But anyway, that's about as much as we get from that particular
- 19:00chapter or so we're introduced to him.
- 19:01So obviously he's got something to do with her somehow.
- 19:04Yeah, yeah, yeah. I would be convinced to go to
- 19:07school for a chicken pie for free, ah, hundred chicken like,
- 19:11real chicken and eating nothing. She's eating grits and you know,
- 19:14what's really sad about that? That is her not going back to
- 19:17school because she was bullied enough.
- 19:19So she gave up a free meal. Yeah.
- 19:22And not even just chicken pie, he got dessert, she got milk
- 19:26banana pudding or whatever she gave it all up because she
- 19:30couldn't even spell dog, she smoked a backwards so she didn't
- 19:33technically get it wrong. Well, that was her first day it
- 19:37was, can you imagine? You haven't been taught
- 19:38anything? What, a shit teacher.
- 19:40Why would you get her up in front of the class?
- 19:42Wouldn't you pull her aside? And be like oh where are you at?
- 19:45Or at least For day to absorb anything first.
- 19:47Got on like a. But at least she did say no.
- 19:50We don't. We, don't make fun.
- 19:54Let's not wait to get. My name is Caius.
- 19:56Miss Dyas. The dummy is teacher.
- 19:58Would you get your degree? No, we're probably a milk carton
- 20:02the Piggly Wiggly. The way that she was so hungry
- 20:05at lunch though and she's still saved a bit for the birds late.
- 20:08I know. That's so cute.
- 20:09So cute. And are you kidding?
- 20:11I'd be there every day. I'd be like, watch me gain some
- 20:13weight. Yeah.
- 20:15Watch. Because she hasn't even it
- 20:17sounds like she hasn't even eaten chicken.
- 20:19Well, they used to have chickens, but I mean it's not an
- 20:22everyday occurrence yafo. She has saltine crackers or
- 20:25something to get salt in her group.
- 20:27Hmm. Yep.
- 20:30Traumatic. That's rough.
- 20:31It was traumatic. So she's running around home
- 20:34after and feeding the birds and everything and then she stands
- 20:37on this big nail. How did she lose her foot?
- 20:41It just like I'm like, how'd it go?
- 20:43I've been thinking about this is the entire time.
- 20:45Is it was like one chapter she got really pain in her, back
- 20:49from everything. She had a mud dragon.
- 20:51It, I didn't even read the pipe, they pulled it out.
- 20:54I think she stood on it, and then for some reason and she's
- 20:56still like, only seven at this age or whatever.
- 20:59She understood that she might need a tetanus shot, but she
- 21:02didn't know how to get it. Yeah.
- 21:03And then, she put her foot, like, I mean, I guess even know
- 21:06any better at that age, but she literally dipped look, soaked.
- 21:10Afoot in the marsh in the bacteria filled much.
- 21:14Imagine All the bacteria just like sorry.
- 21:17Like I'm confused. How she still has a foot me too.
- 21:21When she had no flipped, she's lucky.
- 21:23She didn't get tetanus. I guess she God, she didn't get
- 21:27a shot. She didn't have medicine.
- 21:28She didn't have any, she got a little twinge in my back, and
- 21:32she was paranoid each day. She was like, at least if I
- 21:35survive for two whole days in my mouth, is still able to be open,
- 21:38then I'll be okay. Oh, my God.
- 21:40And then her first already after, that was on her pirate
- 21:43day was picking up all the nails.
- 21:45But her dad was not there this whole time.
- 21:48Yeah. How do you a deadbeat dad?
- 21:49Like this? When you go, where do you sleep?
- 21:52What are you doing? I'm assuming he's off drinking
- 21:54and gambling with do. Do that fucking 72 hours
- 21:57straight and then go home? How does that work?
- 22:00He doesn't have much motivation to go home.
- 22:02I guess, I don't even know if he cares about checking in, if
- 22:05she's alive on Earth, comes in and says, oh, where is
- 22:08everybody, actually, that's what makes me really, really sad.
- 22:10Because after that, he's actually starts checking in on
- 22:14them, I know. Oh, so we're back with the chase
- 22:17Andrew situation. Mmm, I love how the policeman
- 22:21he's trying to keep things under wraps.
- 22:22He's like, okay, let's not just tell everybody what's going on.
- 22:25It's a small town. Everyone's going to know that
- 22:27this guy died immediately as soon as those kids go back and
- 22:30tell their families. Well, they kept the kids there
- 22:33until the parents were told first.
- 22:34Yeah, I wonder what they're like because it seems like he came
- 22:38from a privileged family and he's quite young to die.
- 22:41If he's 23 years, early 20s, he also sounded like a little
- 22:45while. I told her.
- 22:46Yeah, but I guess he was getting away with being an asshole and
- 22:50they are Church like it was probably okay to cheat on your
- 22:53wife if you were the man. Well yeah, true they did say he
- 22:56was very privileged because they were paying for all his bills
- 23:00and like is spark plugs and everything which I thought was a
- 23:02very interesting ad when we realize that she needs spark
- 23:05plugs later. So, mmm, okay, yeah.
- 23:09Anyway, the police trying to contain, it just made me laugh.
- 23:11Everyone will know straight away but the Star Quarterback or the
- 23:14foot. Oh yeah, you can.
- 23:15Even today, they'd be like, where is he exactly didn't come
- 23:18for his spark plug or vaginas today.
- 23:21I loved how one of the cops was kind of like, oh, surely that it
- 23:27won't be a jealous husband and the other ones like pretty sure
- 23:30someone would try and kill him over that.
- 23:32Yeah, hello. He fucked your wife, you just
- 23:36turns around and goes hey, hold on, hold on.
- 23:40It's like your missus saying about this, Chase injuries
- 23:43bloke. He just trying to keep it.
- 23:46That's not a motivating factor, it wasn't like open so I didn't
- 23:51hide all my trap. Dennis didn't spear see theory
- 23:56about what's gonna happen down the track.
- 23:57Yeah, it's just by, is it the call that we justify scope?
- 24:00Not know how the world Works, isn't relationships the number
- 24:04one factor in? I honestly think these are the
- 24:07dumbest cops ever done with than Cairo right now.
- 24:14No offense chief. He is like seven so it's not
- 24:16like she's getting that, he's getting the, she's getting
- 24:19scoped potential. That's what matters.
- 24:21These cops are fully grown, they have no excuse your dumb dumb
- 24:24ideas that they were privileged. They went to school.
- 24:27So they're just talk about how he's big ho he'd been getting
- 24:31around with all them bitches. I feel like being a cop is
- 24:34almost a license to be a gossip and then when they went to the
- 24:37town shop to pick something up online the restaurant or
- 24:41whatever. Yeah, I got food later.
- 24:43The fact that they were like nah, let's get out of here
- 24:45before. These conversations?
- 24:46Get out of control. I'm like, are you kidding?
- 24:47I be talking to every single person.
- 24:49Yeah, license for everyone to Spill the tea to me.
- 24:51I mean, that's where they started with the Moscow anyway,
- 24:54because how like he had a thing with Moscow on like and Wagner.
- 24:58Where's the intel on the naughty doing my fire questioning every
- 25:01single fucking person in that restaurant.
- 25:03I've been questioning how a marsh girl with no fucking foot
- 25:08with a dead body. I don't even think she has a
- 25:18shower. No, no.
- 25:19She she washes itself in the marsh, but don't you think?
- 25:22As the cop you should be getting in all those conversations?
- 25:26Probably townspeople are going to know everything.
- 25:28Probably job a lot easier, a lot easier.
- 25:32He's like, no, peace out. This is all.
- 25:34This is all just too much drama for me.
- 25:35All of this relevant, chatter already do this women will talk
- 25:40this woman talk. I don't know if I'll be allowed
- 25:42in the restaurant, Emily, I don't know, I might have to
- 25:44order it. On just in the rain, it's fine
- 25:47outside. Might get murdered by the men
- 25:50that go inside. Just send your man in to go.
- 25:52Fetch something. Is he paying?
- 25:55Well, yeah, and you're not allowed to hold currency.
- 25:58Well then the doggy better go fetch.
- 26:01The tables have turned. Imagine that though.
- 26:05You actually play in your life around the barriers that you're
- 26:08not allowed to have because you have a vagina.
- 26:10I don't even think about it. I don't think about it.
- 26:12I don't think about it because we have come further.
- 26:15Other, but not my fault. Thankful Lord, I think that
- 26:19Lord, the Lord, imagine if women weren't allowed to online shop.
- 26:23Oh my God. The economy would collapse
- 26:26imagine if they're like, no, no. You have to get your man to do.
- 26:29I believe. So, depressed.
- 26:30You know how much I window shop called?
- 26:32The little know you could Window Shop, but you have to get your
- 26:35man's to actually do the transaction?
- 26:38Well, well, well financial crisis 2022.
- 26:45The entire stock in the straps. We're going inflows that because
- 26:49they'd come back with the toilet from product.
- 26:52Oh my God. It's like when you send them off
- 26:54to do grocery shopping and then they come back with nothing, you
- 26:56need a lot. Like have you seen the
- 26:58tick-tocks where they have to print out a little pictures
- 27:00shoes? Yes, don't get me started.
- 27:03Do not How they the smarter in quotations?
- 27:08Breed. Yeah.
- 27:09Only this model on the visual people Emily.
- 27:13That's why they can dump you at a moment's notice.
- 27:15If you gain 5 kilos, oh sorry. One kilo.
- 27:19Giving them too much leeway. I toast.
- 27:22What is your foot fetish today? Unintentional?
- 27:27I'm just really concerned about how she still has a foot.
- 27:30The logistics are not there, I don't know, I don't know, maybe
- 27:33she lost to talk, Maybe. You just has little nail home.
- 27:37It's just plugged up with Maj mud.
- 27:42She's like that'll do. Yep.
- 27:43Just makes it go faster. Aerodynamics.
- 27:49That's why she's pulling all these men because he's got that
- 27:51little ants of no flash. She's got an extra hole with
- 27:55eyes like extra holes. Okay.
- 28:04Um right. So this is something I really
- 28:07noticed about this book is that it was constant food, talk.
- 28:10And I know that that was because of its setting up the extreme
- 28:14poverty and it's setting up how bad things were.
- 28:16It was constant. It was, like, do I have to know
- 28:18what to eat for breakfast? Lunch and dinner.
- 28:20It was great putting me off. Yeah.
- 28:25Absent changed. Fruits today.
- 28:28Chris tomorrow. Oh, I think I'm having grits on
- 28:32Sunday. It was a point when she was just
- 28:34pulling shit out of the marsh to put it in the creek.
- 28:36Oh my God, but that was a bit where it was like turnip greens.
- 28:40So, where are the turnips? She used them all, they were in
- 28:44a goddess of a just weeds because she would put weeds in
- 28:48the Grits on weed grits. She just just open her and
- 28:54little grit shop. Yeah.
- 28:56You know how. When you get called Rock ice
- 28:59cream later. She's like you got to weed.
- 29:06So I got muscles. Yeah, one day.
- 29:11Her dad actually comes home and he's Loki sober.
- 29:15Well she wanted to be able to use his boat.
- 29:17So she was kind of trying to butter him up and she did a few
- 29:19more chores around the house. Watch TV.
- 29:22I made dinner and coffee. Did the woman work sheet.
- 29:25Yeah. And he's like, oh, you're not so
- 29:27useless after all. Like he came home one day and
- 29:29he's like, and then this is where I got really sad.
- 29:34Yeah. Again again, again, this this
- 29:37book sort of just drops you even lower than you thought you could
- 29:39go each time you just keep going down.
- 29:42So this is the start of her and her dad actually having a
- 29:45relationship is he was still drinking but he was not drinking
- 29:48his smart shell gone fishing every day coming home more
- 29:51often. He was Coming home.
- 29:53Now having dinner together. They were talking, he, she
- 29:56collects feathers and stuff. So he gave her his old army
- 30:00nappy sacks, so she could collect and put it in and it's
- 30:04called a knapsack knapsack, that'd be that'd be sick?
- 30:07I reckon. I know it's knapsack and I just
- 30:09do not care. No, I like nappies.
- 30:11Akmal and Nappy smack smack. It blasphemy Finally getting
- 30:23along. You know what pisses me off
- 30:24about this though, dad comes back and they're actually
- 30:27talking, she lets her go out on the boat because he was laughing
- 30:30because he's like, you're a girl.
- 30:32And she's like, yes, I'm your girl.
- 30:34I know it's so sad. I was like, did he forget?
- 30:37Did you forget? They could have been fucking
- 30:40fishing for dinners this whole time.
- 30:42Yeah, she didn't know how to fish at all, but he could have
- 30:46at least done some fishing for her at all.
- 30:49He would do is give her some coins and be like, man.
- 30:52Yeah. Yes, that pissed.
- 30:55Me off. I was like, par.
- 30:56You're really letting the team down.
- 30:57There's only one leg. I'm pretty sure his name is
- 31:00like, Jackson or something to he was Jake.
- 31:03Still this. It's still a Jet Plane energy,
- 31:05same energy. Same vibe off with the jeans off
- 31:08with the Jane we've done with jeans.
- 31:10Absolutely, please just monitoring in my mind who were
- 31:13dating, like, hold on. We're dating someone of the same
- 31:20starting letter. So I think we're good.
- 31:22That's correct, that's right. Pop, I actually called her hon.
- 31:27I know and it's really sad, didn't super fun.
- 31:30But you know what? I thought, maybe he's trying to
- 31:32recruit her this multi-level marketing.
- 31:35No, no, he's got Scentsy or something.
- 31:43He looks since the new traumatic say, slowly Wheels out.
- 31:47This not sack of meat. Reddick's covered in mud.
- 31:52Hey hon. I know we haven't talked in a
- 31:54long time and he's like, yeah. My mind just went straight
- 32:02there. But anyway I always fuck up and
- 32:04touching moment so that's just my brain doing that to a
- 32:07profound thought about it. But it's fun.
- 32:09You just, you're pissing myself and I'm just like Full of Tears.
- 32:16So that was nice. He acknowledged her as a human
- 32:18being. He started talking to her as if
- 32:21there was a sense of family and she was kind of, she had a guard
- 32:24up there. Even at that young age, she was
- 32:26like, I don't know if my mom's ever come, there was like a
- 32:29point, right before he fucked it all up, again where they had
- 32:34money and they he took her to a restaurant and they went and
- 32:36actually had a couple meal dessert and everything and then
- 32:41that was like a last interaction.
- 32:43They act like that made, it even more rough.
- 32:46And also like the fuck and it was all over and letter from her
- 32:49mom that she couldn't read and didn't get to read.
- 32:52Well, he sort of just stormed off became prick again.
- 32:55Yeah. And then he was like, she ain't
- 32:57never coming back. It's like, yeah.
- 32:58But why her fault? That's yeah why, why are you not
- 33:02coming back if you know how hard it is?
- 33:05He was getting to a point in the book to where he wasn't drinking
- 33:08as much and he would forget it and drink tea when they went
- 33:11out. So he wasn't even drinking, he
- 33:13was getting good for a bit there but we don't know what's going.
- 33:16Going on in pause life. Yeah, because it's not always
- 33:19that, he's not always there, but she did say it was really sad,
- 33:23bit, the whole books, fucking miserable.
- 33:26It was like, I hope that now that he's getting decent, they
- 33:30can get back together, but that's her age talking.
- 33:34Yeah, but that's so sad, but she's so shut off from the world
- 33:38to. So she doesn't just doesn't get
- 33:41it back in the day. You could just drop off the face
- 33:44of the Earth, whether it's the mom, whether it's a dad, you
- 33:46Change your name with fucked it all the kids go.
- 33:49No one will know. Where did they go?
- 33:52How do I have money to go anywhere?
- 33:54Could just Rebrand yourself. Well, they had nothing in the
- 33:56marsh anyway. Yeah.
- 33:57So chances are they're better off.
- 34:00Living with a friend Jody car. Maybe they go work on a farm or
- 34:03something or, oh, no, let's go to be better opportunities out
- 34:07there than living in a mosquito. He's Marsh but just imagine that
- 34:11you could just Rebrand your whole life.
- 34:13Yeah. Pretend you don't even have kids
- 34:15who's going to know. You don't have a paper trail.
- 34:17Not who cares? I feel them.
- 34:19So, what was in that letter? And if we ever find out, well,
- 34:22he burnt it. Like how he burns everything.
- 34:25Yeah, I'm surprised you didn't do that.
- 34:26Last dress, that was left over. I hope she probably hit it.
- 34:30So the next couple of chapters is nothing too intense.
- 34:34Mmm, it's essentially, she's worked out her dad's not coming
- 34:38back so she's selling muscles for money for food and gas and
- 34:45then it gets to a point where she's trying to beat other
- 34:47people out for selling muscle. Yes.
- 34:50And then she doesn't, so then she like smokes fish.
- 34:54That no one wants to eat but then, they end up taking it and
- 34:57swapping her. Hmm.
- 34:58A whole heap of supplies. So that's jumping and Mabel.
- 35:01Yeah, Mabel is a National Treasure.
- 35:04She is a beaut. She is a queen, the things that
- 35:08she actually donated her her was just crazy, like the fact that
- 35:11she could actually have some clothes and shoes that fit.
- 35:13Yeah, that was just a man. It was like, a constant Supply
- 35:17right up until what are we when she's 16 by the end of the part
- 35:22one yet? So, she's the one constant
- 35:23supply of candles grits. Like they don't leave her
- 35:28hanging. Hmm.
- 35:29Maybe And jump in are black. So they're lovely.
- 35:33People have come on and they live in Holland.
- 35:35Town. Now, the author has been known
- 35:38for being something apart of something racist.
- 35:41The author has been a. Yeah, a scandal.
- 35:44So there's a couple of all of the terms that should not come
- 35:47up in the book. I don't know if you skim past
- 35:49it, you read it. But I feel like this woman
- 35:53fucking described everything in great detail.
- 35:56I feel like she could have just alluded to it.
- 35:58And instead of actually using Thinking.
- 36:00Hmm, why could you give me a whole page about what the Piggly
- 36:03Wiggly look like, but you can't elude.
- 36:07Yep, to something. Yeah, without using the actual
- 36:10language. Yeah.
- 36:11So just questionable choices with questionable twice as but
- 36:15essentially Kya taxis to kids because I've been bit racist,
- 36:19extremely racist, racist, jumping, and then that's all you
- 36:23ever hear about that again. I love her Jam Jar attack
- 36:27though. I know I loved it.
- 36:28I was like, I guess she got Better.
- 36:30Yeah. Well, they didn't see her, which
- 36:32was kind of like, he could to. Yeah.
- 36:34She was just in and out. She's in and out.
- 36:36And she was angry because she did, I guess she doesn't
- 36:39understand the full situation of what's going on.
- 36:42If she knew as a cuss word because their dads used it as a
- 36:45cuss word. Yeah.
- 36:46So she was not completely understanding but I feel like it
- 36:49could have just been left out. I never go into the authors too
- 36:53much, because I only seen it by accident because I was looking
- 36:56up the trailer for the movie. Yeah.
- 36:59Okay. Okay and it come up on
- 37:01Tick-Tock. I've only seen the girl's face
- 37:03on the book cover. That's it.
- 37:04Oh yeah, she's the girl out of that weird cannibal movie.
- 37:08Oh, what weird? Kind of the one with Sebastian
- 37:11Stan. And I haven't seen that one.
- 37:13It's where he kidnaps and cuts up girls and shit.
- 37:17Should I watch that? Have you seen it?
- 37:19All right. Mmm watching.
- 37:20Yeah, I was gonna say I'm sorry bu movie.
- 37:22That's why I was concerned that I watched it.
- 37:25I was like, what anywho? Actually we haven't even
- 37:29mentioned tape. Really nice.
- 37:30He came up. Before he comes up for a little
- 37:33bit, he helps her get home back when she was seven.
- 37:36Yeah. When she was a little one, she
- 37:38had a baby. And what we learn about Tate is
- 37:40he's the same. No, he's not the same age as
- 37:42Jodi but they were friends. Yeah.
- 37:45So I think Jody is a bit older who's fishing friends with him
- 37:47so it must have been neighbors sort of situation.
- 37:49I suppose because Tate is 18 when she's 14.
- 37:53Yeah and that would mean that in years.
- 37:57Yeah he's like a marsh kid. Yeah, he's a smart kid.
- 38:01Also cute little bean and she's only little so she doesn't
- 38:04really understand crushes or anything like that.
- 38:07She's kind of like I just want to have a friend and she said
- 38:08how she waved towards him when she was in the boat with parwan
- 38:12time and he's like you can't trust nobody.
- 38:15Well there's always the same. Yeah well why don't you fucking
- 38:22hang around more dad idiot. How she supposed to know?
- 38:25Protect yourself a sister said you can't trust anyone.
- 38:28They take advantage of you. And that's a bit soft because
- 38:31it's kind of like, what's Dad doing that.
- 38:33We, I honestly do about it to be fair.
- 38:35I honestly, thought for the first half of the book that the
- 38:38dad did sa everyone. That's what I was scared of
- 38:42because you, I was get the host and where I was the whole time,
- 38:45I was like, there is no way. He hasn't, I feel like from what
- 38:50we know he's physically and obviously verbally abusive.
- 38:55Hi, they didn't typical alcoholic father but they didn't
- 38:58say sexual abuse. Buse.
- 39:00That way. I was probably the mom at all.
- 39:03He's probably the mom. Like she got out and walked away
- 39:05leaving children behind and you don't fucking do that for no
- 39:08reason. Yeah.
- 39:09Which is fucking insane. Do we have?
- 39:12Okay? This is a question.
- 39:13Do we have any sympathy for par know any because no of his
- 39:19trauma know what, trauma his War trauma.
- 39:24He didn't even have water AMA, he did no.
- 39:27See they said he was too scared to go out of It charges of
- 39:31whatever it is and he only didn't get killed in his team
- 39:36and became a war hero was because he didn't leave to go
- 39:40default. Yeah.
- 39:41By default and they didn't know. So I thought he witnessed some
- 39:44trauma traumatic thing. All right.
- 39:45Don't get me wrong. It's probably very excited about
- 39:48also, like no. Also, he decided to he was the
- 39:52one that decided they needed to live in the movie.
- 39:54Yeah. And live in the marsh and then
- 39:56there was a lot of bad choices that led to To and he and then
- 40:01they had to sell their Fine Furniture and like the mum
- 40:05literally pulled out address each year and ripped it up to
- 40:08make a smock. Mmm.
- 40:09Like they had nothing and they could have had more.
- 40:12So what we understand from when he started, when he started
- 40:14talking to her a little bit about the history.
- 40:16So he was actually well-to-do yeah and then things went wrong
- 40:19in his family where they lost in the ankle whatever Great
- 40:22Depression or something. Yeah.
- 40:24So they all the assets were just liquidated and he got fuck all.
- 40:27Yeah and then he was supposed to help out his family.
- 40:29Mother-in-law's business. Yeah, and he was an asshole
- 40:32about it and didn't properly do it.
- 40:34And then obviously his part, his wife, which was her mama was
- 40:38like, you've really got a fucking straightened out and do
- 40:40this job properly because she couldn't as a Mormon.
- 40:43Yeah. And then he just expected to be
- 40:45higher than a top-ranked because it's the father-in-law.
- 40:47Like he was entitled, he was entitled and then they just kept
- 40:50having children and then yeah, it was a slippery slope because
- 40:53he didn't do well at that job. Yeah.
- 40:55And then yeah, they pumped out a whole bunch of children became a
- 40:59wrong became abusive. Yeah.
- 41:02So all of these was the one that made the move from that job into
- 41:07the marsh into. So he just went downhill from
- 41:10that. He literally moved them into a
- 41:11fucking fishing cabin. Yeah, I know but also it was it
- 41:16was all because of his ego couldn't handle the failure.
- 41:20Oh yeah, yeah. Then what they're all supposed
- 41:21to just fucking live in a marsh forever because you can't
- 41:24handle. I just well I don't know where
- 41:26they all ended up, ya know. Maybe we'll never know when
- 41:30that's kind of the sad part about it too.
- 41:33Yeah, I suppose because if we never know that and she never
- 41:35knows, it's just a hole. Hmm.
- 41:37Fine. But yeah, I think the dad made
- 41:40so many bad choices but back in the day you didn't really have
- 41:43information about what domestic violence is or anything.
- 41:46So and you were probably told you're not allowed to get
- 41:48divorced and blah-di-blah so you would just walk away.
- 41:51Oh yeah, there's no divorce. Yeah but it's not only my
- 41:55support. She probably went back to her
- 41:57parents if they were still living, if that Or just redid
- 42:00the whole life somewhere else. Yeah very nice.
- 42:03I kind of like Jody as a nickname for a boy.
- 42:05That was cute. That is cute.
- 42:06I want of them had really long names.
- 42:09Hmm. So his name his real name was
- 42:11Jeremy. Yeah, when we got a bit of that
- 42:14background about the family, I was like, holy shit Maria, which
- 42:17was Marv, was just holding it down, she was the glue.
- 42:20She was the glue, because we understand a bit more about us,
- 42:23so she was into makeup. She as you said, was an artist
- 42:28she Was the main parent? She had enrolled them all in
- 42:32school even though they moved out to the stupid Marsh.
- 42:34He told him not to go, he wanted them to fish.
- 42:36Laughter education. Yeah so she was literally they
- 42:40probably all couldn't read. Yeah well they all got at the
- 42:44chance to go to school. While Mom was around and then
- 42:46she's like, peace out. Like she just hopped out.
- 42:48She was done. Yeah.
- 42:50And that's so sad, because Kai's just lost one.
- 42:52And she's like, oh, wait for me. Wait, for me.
- 42:54I want to just wash it and take her or anyone of any of them
- 42:58drinking. Didn't have the money.
- 42:59I don't understand why Jody didn't take her.
- 43:03Me either. That makes no sense because he
- 43:06knew how bad it was. Yeah.
- 43:08And then he was like if anyone shows up just run in the marsh.
- 43:11So he knows that I don't because the same thing happened to him.
- 43:16All his older siblings just fucking left him.
- 43:19I know, but he was the closest with, I know it's dumb, it's
- 43:24done. He should have done better but
- 43:27he was also a child. So not long after we find out
- 43:31that she's getting stuff from Abel.
- 43:33She starts finding feathers. Oh yes.
- 43:36A little little Explorations they left on the same place.
- 43:40Every couple of days or something and then she finds
- 43:44some seeds and a spark plug and it just starts from there.
- 43:49And it turns out Tate has been leaving her.
- 43:52Hmm, these gifties little gift. He's because she loves feathers,
- 43:56she's got a whole feather wall. Did he know that at that time?
- 43:59I can't remember. She probably watched it because
- 44:01I'm assuming she does it all the time.
- 44:03The time because even her dad was like, oh, you can collect
- 44:05your feathers to put it in this bag.
- 44:07Yep. He's 18.
- 44:09And she's 14. And she was like, she looks like
- 44:12a woman but all her. Mannerisms are like a child is
- 44:16like danger, danger danger. So, that's probably why he was
- 44:21proceeding with Extreme Caution. Yeah, he's leaving these
- 44:24feathers behind. Yeah.
- 44:25It was the MSN of the day. Oh yeah.
- 44:28And then she left him one back that.
- 44:30And that was nap chat of the day and not was The start of the
- 44:34seeds and the yeah. And she wanted to have some kind
- 44:38of Friendship with him along the way.
- 44:39It's because she sort of sometimes saw him in the marsh
- 44:41fishing and never approach because she's very shy, very
- 44:43timid, very scared, which understand, fair enough.
- 44:46Everyone's always told her and also she's been alone in her
- 44:50little Shack in the marsh and then heard all these schoolboys
- 44:54yelling and hollering out that they're going to run bullet.
- 44:56And she thought they were going to intrude the house.
- 44:58While it was like, it just came up in there that it was like an
- 45:01initiation for men to go. Go run out and tag the house
- 45:06does. He's casting disgusting, poor
- 45:08little kid and she didn't even really know what would happen to
- 45:13her either because she's oblivious, she's oblivious.
- 45:16She doesn't know that they could just bust in and assault her.
- 45:19So this is relatively where you start being able to read a bit
- 45:22clearer because when tight IT State's perspective.
- 45:25So tape was a little bit worried because he heard about all the
- 45:28rumors and some of the men were talking about taking her cherry.
- 45:32Hmm. And he was scared for her Leo
- 45:35aren't out there. Hmm.
- 45:36And then things progress a little bit and they actually
- 45:39meet in person and have a conversation by accident.
- 45:43Sorry. When you risk going to a foster
- 45:47home or keep living in the marsh few, her probably keep living in
- 45:51the marsh. She doesn't know any different
- 45:53and she's happy she's happy with her but she's happy swimming in
- 45:56the mosh. Hmm she doesn't know what a
- 45:59foster home would even really be like yeah, it could be either
- 46:02the best King of the worst thing for you so you probably just
- 46:04better off staying in the marsh. Who?
- 46:06Yes she doesn't know much and she is getting her supplies now.
- 46:09So she has a somewhat income a way to live and I mean if Mabel
- 46:14and jump and we'll real worried they'd probably go check on her
- 46:17more. Hmm, what would happen
- 46:19realistically if Mabel and or jumping died or moved away?
- 46:23Should be kind of screwed. She'd be far but she's also
- 46:25almost 18. Hmm, so she was making it work
- 46:29before they even knew anyway. Yeah.
- 46:31And she had enough Of what she needed I guess.
- 46:35So I got really awkward like their friendship continued
- 46:37because he was teaching her, how to read, which is good, that's
- 46:40very sweet, but he had a motive come on.
- 46:44He had a boy is gone out in the middle of the Marshal time.
- 46:47So originally it kind of started as him being worried and he was
- 46:51reminded of his younger sister. That's a bit that it to me out,
- 46:55he had feelings, he was confused.
- 46:57It was feelings about his lost sister relationship.
- 47:00Where do you know? But maybe he was more confused
- 47:05because he was like, oh well I can't protect my sister.
- 47:08Maybe I can help her but it's all right.
- 47:11They they were fine somewhat wholesome.
- 47:13It's somewhat old Cedar until later dirty dog.
- 47:18So it's it's actually really sad the bit that I thought was
- 47:22really sad. Is that tape knows more about
- 47:25her body than she does when she has her first period basically
- 47:28and 15 like damn girl. And the thing is with that too.
- 47:33After she gets her period. He says, oh you remember that
- 47:35pileup. What my brain is completely
- 47:41collapsed in himself. He brought her a textbook but he
- 47:44added pamphlets about periods in there.
- 47:47Yeah, he grabbed pamphlets and hid them in the book for that
- 47:51because he knows coming up, right?
- 47:53Which is very sweet. But she was more embarrassed
- 47:55because she thought she was going to go shit herself with
- 47:57the flow knows, it's great. She's like, I don't think I'm
- 48:01gonna be sick. I think I'm going to have To
- 48:03wear out in the forest and he's like, well, is it the same as
- 48:05other stomach cramps? She's having a period, she
- 48:08probably will as well. Yes, you probably know it's all
- 48:15just everything. Must go clearance clearance.
- 48:19So the chances are she certainly time.
- 48:21No one's ever constipated, but he's teaching her to read and
- 48:27it's so nice. But the funny thing is, I think
- 48:30he fell in love with her too because he had, they had the
- 48:33Maxine interest. Yeah, that and proximity.
- 48:38Yeah. The fact that he was going out
- 48:40there every day hormones. He is essentially a fully grown
- 48:43man with the 18 year old hormones, but they weren't doing
- 48:47physical stuff, until she was 15.
- 48:49And he was 19 is when they started cleaning.
- 48:53She had a period when she was 15.
- 48:54Yeah. And he even bring a little
- 48:56cakes. That's a plus he didn't say
- 48:58anything about it. She didn't want to see him and
- 49:01he was like, oh, I just bring some cake.
- 49:03It's that I had. Well, when your lady friend is
- 49:05on her period cakes is always the answer.
- 49:07Always, yeah. I don't even eat cake.
- 49:08But whatever it's for desserts. Just anything.
- 49:12Calorie-dense said anything? Delicious?
- 49:15Yeah I think yeah. There was a bit where they were,
- 49:20I guess. In a way, this was them talking
- 49:21about their feelings for the first time because they were
- 49:23about to kiss. Yeah, so tape goes.
- 49:26Hmm, you might be a bit God. Do I do, you might be a bit too
- 49:33young to be my girl. And then, and then, and then she
- 49:37goes. But I know feathers.
- 49:40So a normal baby girl. Running around chasing like a
- 49:49leaves doing the most childish thing ever.
- 49:51And then they kiss and then she's like immediately.
- 49:54She was like, am I your girlfriend now?
- 49:55And he's like, he's like, hold up.
- 49:59He's like, I'm still a player. I'm so horny.
- 50:03But that was so classic. I mean, she immediately was just
- 50:07like, am I your girlfriend? Yeah.
- 50:08Could you imagine? It's like a legitimate question?
- 50:12I mean, sure. Is it know where you stand
- 50:14ladies, but he'd applied. Immediately after that, she's
- 50:19like behind my feathers. Other girls.
- 50:20Don't know if he's like other girls.
- 50:22I'm not like other girls. I only just learned how to read,
- 50:25but I know feathers, he did not. He was like, say less, he
- 50:30literally says, he will literally responsible with.
- 50:33All right? Then it's coach.
- 50:36And then they kiss again, but she just sounds like you've
- 50:40been, but the kiss. So stiffly.
- 50:41The first time I'd be like, well, they don't know what
- 50:43they're doing. She doesn't know what she just
- 50:45mashing body parts together the stage.
- 50:47But her life, her heart was so full, so full.
- 50:50So full of things that she didn't know she even needed much
- 50:54water. It was gonna get that checked
- 50:57its along with her tetanus holes.
- 51:01Filled with he might rub it later, who rubs the wrong hole.
- 51:07Get a little frisky with my face, the wrong hole when you
- 51:11find out Tate as a book published oh my God, he's like
- 51:17what's this bonus whole? Hmm.
- 51:19But it just kept progressively gets worse.
- 51:27Unlike the what was going on? When all of a sudden, every
- 51:31second sentence was circling nipples.
- 51:33So I was like Mario Vanessa trapped after the next chapter,
- 51:37right? For this sweet, sweet.
- 51:39Little feather moment is him thinking about her thighs and
- 51:43her titties. So sperm soft by the soft eyes
- 51:46and how he much. He would love to see her
- 51:49breasts. Her Bambi is her bosoms.
- 51:56It was lying in bed and he was he'd be rolling.
- 51:58If he started thinking anything higher about it.
- 52:01Yeah. Thighs freaking up high up them.
- 52:04Sweet. Sweet Child like you Gag.
- 52:09Oh, I was like, hold up. I no longer enjoy this.
- 52:14Hold on, hold up. Are they looking into everyone
- 52:17who buys a copy of this book? I'm like, oh, I do appreciate
- 52:22that. They do not really go much
- 52:24further. Yeah, please stop at this point.
- 52:27I was getting the ick, but I mean, it was the constant
- 52:29circling of nipples for me. Yeah, it's like so he's a, he's
- 52:34a bosom boy. He doesn't know much what what
- 52:39much else is going on though, because he's got to be a bit
- 52:41naive as well. Yeah, to a degree.
- 52:44Yeah, he did have conversations with his dad though, because
- 52:47when dad was talking about the school dance and he was like,
- 52:49Like, she's not like other girls, she's lovely and smooth
- 52:53and then I wasn't I hate it. How the dad would just allude to
- 52:56things and not be straight up, because these are naive children
- 52:59that don't have access to information like we do now and
- 53:02the dads. Like, but do you know what I
- 53:04mean? That you shouldn't be starting,
- 53:05no families. None early down now then if I
- 53:09was even an IT girl boy, at that time I'd be like huh but
- 53:15basically you have sex education.
- 53:20How do you like to sit absolute still marriage back in?
- 53:23Yeah, that's a boy at that age. You probably wouldn't get it.
- 53:27Yeah. Dad wasn't doing the most but
- 53:29also dad was the dad of the death of who is the dad of the
- 53:33dad. Your dad was, was the dad of the
- 53:36boy. So if he did get Marsh girl
- 53:38pregnant, who the fuck cares? He's offered them in the marsh,
- 53:41but no one's gonna know. Yeah, that's gonna know with her
- 53:44Wild Thornberrys children to know.
- 53:50He will still live on and be able to be whatever he wants to
- 53:53be. Yeah, back to the circle.
- 53:55Nipple flows, back to the second your clothes.
- 53:57Well, doing the dishes, it was she was doing the dishes and he
- 54:02was like, I'll help you do the dishes.
- 54:04This is not Ratatouille just called And if it is Ratatouille,
- 54:09I don't want it to be. Mmm-hmm, the I never wear bra.
- 54:14She didn't are in one, you know, the one by Mabel.
- 54:17Yeah, but she doesn't like, you're going to have one bra.
- 54:19It's not going to be clean all the time.
- 54:21True. You're going to need it for
- 54:22particular occasions. She's got and she's making me
- 54:26big bosoms, so I don't think it really.
- 54:28See, must have some nice Muslims.
- 54:31We're hearing a lot about the nip.
- 54:32Not a lot about the bosom. What are you doing?
- 54:36Is also a child but she's slim. She's not eating a lot.
- 54:39Oh yeah, she hasn't got those chicken booby hormones.
- 54:42She's got she. Yeah she hasn't got them.
- 54:44Birthing hips know. She's got.
- 54:45Nothing's come in yet. Nothing still on pending Um
- 54:51okay. So they start up conversations
- 54:52because they're starting to get the feel he's for.
- 54:55Yeah. At least he recognized the age
- 54:58Gap? Yeah.
- 55:00A bit because I almost have sex. Hmm.
- 55:03And didn't even know what sex was and she was like, I kind of
- 55:05want to do it. Yeah.
- 55:07He was like, fingering her at the time or something.
- 55:09Yeah. He was just massaging who's
- 55:10massaging the luck. Sorry.
- 55:14And then he was like, the thigh She's what?
- 55:23Top you say one will put thing you are his money.
- 55:28Sorry, he's massaging me. Feel like I don't have money for
- 55:32this, that's why it's so risky. Do Dimension feet together?
- 55:38Yes. Oh, so he's just rubbing her
- 55:40inner thigh. Yeah.
- 55:41Not knowing where he's going. She had this whole needed to be.
- 55:46Will she know? She is she spread them legs, she
- 55:49had that hello feeling inside he undressed her.
- 55:52She's Spread them. He's had a down to the undies
- 55:56and he was gonna do some, he was pantsless.
- 55:59He was rubbing his erections past.
- 56:02He really does. It says he took off his pants
- 56:06and rubbed her with his erection naughty boy.
- 56:09Yeah. What do you boy?
- 56:10Come down but there's some down then he did calm down and then
- 56:14he sort of came back tracked. Yeah and then dressed her.
- 56:17Hmm like the little gentleman he is mmm because I've been reading
- 56:21their poetry and she started on Sam?
- 56:23What love is and what kind of, I mean, they're spending every day
- 56:26together. Pretty much.
- 56:27Yeah, a lot of time together and then he brings up, by the way.
- 56:31I'm a grown man, and I need to go, you need food.
- 56:34I'm on my way to college. I'm sorry.
- 56:37Can't have a teenage Marsh girlfriend anymore.
- 56:39Yeah, grown out of that one, grown out of that one, bro, you
- 56:43shouldn't have been anyway. Anyway, mmm, he's just baiting
- 56:47her up to be his in the field scientist when he's like, yeah,
- 56:51what didn't make sense was how he's like, I'm going to go, Oh
- 56:53study. What was it biology?
- 56:55Yeah, no. No.
- 56:56Sorry. Maureen by marine biology.
- 56:58Yeah. And she was like there's no jobs
- 57:00during them here for them. For that marine biology.
- 57:04Yeah. He making those promises of
- 57:06being like yeah. I'll totally come back because I
- 57:09love you and she was even thinking in her own brain.
- 57:13Yeah. That he's probably going to meet
- 57:15women at University who are beautiful, and they're
- 57:20privileged. And there she interesting.
- 57:22She says, To. And he's like, no, I'll never
- 57:25forget you he immediately ever forget.
- 57:28Oh he wouldn't say that. He never comes out of in Italy.
- 57:30Come back. Well, he did kind of say he will
- 57:32come back. Yeah, he did.
- 57:34But then he never come back and it's really wasn't there a time
- 57:38that she was kind of low-key waiting for him.
- 57:40I'm assuming it's, it was just so he finally went away to
- 57:44college and he was like, I'm coming back on July, 4th for my
- 57:48family. Yeah, in a month and then she
- 57:50just waited. That was devastating.
- 57:53Dating. She waited it was.
- 57:55Yeah, but are we surprised? No.
- 57:57I kind of knew that was going to happen.
- 57:59Anyway, I love how he's the best male character, this whole book
- 58:03and he still let us all down. Oh yeah, bro, where I know that
- 58:07together? Yeah.
- 58:09He's never came back. He met someone else.
- 58:12Dad, uni, hope she's never mind. I've no idea what.
- 58:23Girl, but, I mean, Tate is a nice enough guy.
- 58:28He's gonna be all in that co-ed. Schooling environment.
- 58:32Yeah. And you know what he is very
- 58:34polite because even when he was teaching her, if she said
- 58:37something wrong, he would repeat it back.
- 58:39Like repeat it back properly, but you wouldn't call her out
- 58:43for ya. So he's gonna find a girlfriend.
- 58:45It's not really an issue. I guess back in the day you
- 58:47couldn't just send a breakup text no letters or anything
- 58:52either. Yeah.
- 58:53Yeah, but it was only a month to them, it wouldn't matter to
- 58:56communicate broadly end of chapter 21.
- 58:58So chapter 20 is the July 4th her being sad by the end of 21.
- 59:04It goes he left and then a month went by and then a year and then
- 59:08another year went by so it was like years have us voting.
- 59:11Yeah. You know, what's really sad
- 59:13about it though is that this experience with tape because he
- 59:16was the only one she sort of built up.
- 59:17Trust with made her even not trust Jumpin.
- 59:20Yeah and Mabel in it, like she just ducked into And got the
- 59:23essentials. Barely talked in and left.
- 59:25He didn't want to see anyone who's becoming a recluse.
- 59:28Yep, that's so sad. I know, I slept like all this
- 59:32plenty more fishies in the my know about what it must be
- 59:36really hard when you live in the marsh like she's made people.
- 59:40Yes. Yes he's not very social people.
- 59:42Call her Marsh trash, it's won't trash hauling trash.
- 59:47They don't treat it any good. They think she's dirty.
- 59:49She probably is. Yeah.
- 59:51Try staying clean and him. Marsh.
- 59:53Hmm. I can't imagine you could.
- 59:55Yeah. Do you reckon?
- 59:57They put it in a different time period for the movie because the
- 1:00:00trailer they're wearing normal clothes, Define normal like what
- 1:00:04kind of clothes cuz I haven't seen the trailer.
- 1:00:06I know that there's a bit where I seen Chase.
- 1:00:09I CNT and I seen her and Chase is wearing a button up shirt and
- 1:00:12just jeans. Well, it's the ICA sixties.
- 1:00:15Yeah, I don't know why I'm acting like a saint either
- 1:00:17bunnies. Never mind for me.
- 1:00:19Well, I mean, yeah, I just had a moment.
- 1:00:22It's fine. So yeah, I wasn't really
- 1:00:25surprised that as soon as he got a taste of the college life, he
- 1:00:28was not coming back because realistically, how are they
- 1:00:31going to make that work? The only option like she's not
- 1:00:34on birth control or anything like that.
- 1:00:35The only option is you'd be what living in the marsh with her
- 1:00:38with a whole bunch of kids and she could have left the marsh
- 1:00:40though but she didn't want to because she was on trusting.
- 1:00:44He could have worked on that but also she's very young.
- 1:00:46So she was worried at the time that she was going to get taken
- 1:00:49by child services. Oh yeah.
- 1:00:50That was a constant worry of hers which is Sad the proposed.
- 1:00:54Otherwise if she wasn't getting taken by Child Services they
- 1:00:57probably would have Wayne into town and have dinner roll.
- 1:01:00Yeah, probably and worked on it but you know, I think she was
- 1:01:04just used to her life. I mean as far as if you're just
- 1:01:07happy painting because you're picking feathers, fish and doing
- 1:01:12whatever you're not really going to want to go into town.
- 1:01:14It's the simple life. Yeah.
- 1:01:16What do you reckon to happen to her?
- 1:01:17Dad at this stage? I wrecked our, he died, our
- 1:01:20quality of what is it? Consume it.
- 1:01:22And I What the Colette consumption consumption?
- 1:01:26Probably died of consumption. Exactly cunt.
- 1:01:28Something I don't even think it's consumption.
- 1:01:32Yeah. It just made that up.
- 1:01:34No, no reason. They're thing where it's like
- 1:01:36they died of consumption or some like plague.
- 1:01:38No, no. It's like alcoholism will dry
- 1:01:41scalp. Let's Kevin vitamin D product
- 1:01:46has gotten knocked out when he made a wrong gamble or
- 1:01:49something, or we got mad at, you probably had debts.
- 1:01:52He probably is just Livin. Hmm.
- 1:01:55But you never know, someone could have killed him for his
- 1:01:57veteran payment. Yeah, they have people could.
- 1:02:00Yeah, she and other people's checks and who really knows?
- 1:02:03Yeah. Or he could have killed himself.
- 1:02:06I'm didn't he leave to go? Check where he's payment was and
- 1:02:08then just never came back. Mmm.
- 1:02:10I thought he left and he was so pissed because the mom sent that
- 1:02:13letter and he was just fucked off.
- 1:02:14Yeah. But he came back one day and was
- 1:02:16like I don't know where my payment and then never came
- 1:02:19back. Yeah, it's pretty Rios.
- 1:02:21Giving milk. Understand.
- 1:02:23I don't know if we'll ever know. I swear to God, if I get to the
- 1:02:27end of this book after dying to the first couple of chapters and
- 1:02:31I never know where anyone is. Yep, I'm gonna be so mad.
- 1:02:34How many times did you cry so far?
- 1:02:38It's like twice for you to cry. Count twice.
- 1:02:40I go. Yeah, I feel like I would have
- 1:02:42cried more by literally skim so much because it's so hard to
- 1:02:46read. Yeah.
- 1:02:47But it's only because she is extremely illiterate, but you
- 1:02:51get the general idea. Idea of.
- 1:02:53Yeah, what's going on? Yeah, and there was a whole heap
- 1:02:56of one star reviews. They couldn't get into the book.
- 1:02:59You really gotta get to like chapter 17.
- 1:03:01The audiobook makes it so much easier though.
- 1:03:03Yeah. Because they're doing the
- 1:03:05voices, you're just you're engaged.
- 1:03:07Yeah. And it sort of sets, a lot of
- 1:03:09the context up to have those extra bits that otherwise are
- 1:03:13hard to read. Yeah.
- 1:03:15What are our predictions? Do you have any more notes of
- 1:03:18the content? So far know that if that's kind
- 1:03:20of where we left off? She's hella Devastated that
- 1:03:22Tate's just fucked off. Never to be seen again.
- 1:03:24Yeah doesn't trust anyone. So she's been a recluse now for
- 1:03:28a couple more years so then we're going to get the stories.
- 1:03:31Combining the two. Yeah lines.
- 1:03:33Yeah. So we need to know why Chase
- 1:03:35Andrews is related to her. I actually they did point out.
- 1:03:38He did have a thing with the girl in the marsh so I'm
- 1:03:41assuming Kate left, she had a thing with Chase.
- 1:03:43Hmm. And that's as far as I got, but
- 1:03:45he's also married. Hmm.
- 1:03:48Who murdered him. Well, I want to know what their
- 1:03:51involvement Movement is first, if it's romantic, because, how
- 1:03:55did that become romantic? They're practically enemies?
- 1:03:58Who knows they practically on the other ends of the spectrum.
- 1:04:01Yeah, but she also in saying that she also is very
- 1:04:04unsocialized. So, any person being nice to
- 1:04:06her, she just probably going to be like, even though she's very
- 1:04:09untrusting, she's probably going to be like, oh, this is love.
- 1:04:12Do you think? He, maybe because he's Twisted
- 1:04:15ego. He's run through all the other
- 1:04:17women in town, that he thought he could tame her or some and
- 1:04:20take advantage of her. Yes.
- 1:04:22Probably you may have forced himself on her or something
- 1:04:25non-consensual. Yeah, and maybe she's retaliated
- 1:04:28by. Well, they do say that a lot in
- 1:04:29the book, so she never really lost her virginity.
- 1:04:32Yo. Yeah, I'm assuming something bad
- 1:04:34happens, but I don't see her just welcoming him in and
- 1:04:37falling in love with him. So does she kill him?
- 1:04:40Does jump and kill him? I feel like jumping wouldn't
- 1:04:44kill him. I don't know.
- 1:04:46Hurry, Jack and jumping's involved.
- 1:04:48Mabel Mabel clocked him with a pan.
- 1:04:51Yes, Mabel what is it? Pop out all is a bell tower.
- 1:04:55What I'm assuming water tower level so you know, like really
- 1:04:58high up. What the fuck is he doing up
- 1:05:00there in the first place? Well, they did say all the kids
- 1:05:02go out there to make out but is that is top of the yeah, so they
- 1:05:07did say he fell, so something is steps.
- 1:05:11We adding the people up and then they could Yeah, it was like a
- 1:05:14gate open or something. Okay, that's where that's where
- 1:05:17I'm struggling because I was like, skimming everything but I
- 1:05:19couldn't see him it, but now it's easy to read and I'm
- 1:05:22interested, but he's a grown man at this stage.
- 1:05:24Why is he going out there for his hookups or drug deals?
- 1:05:28Because it could be drug dealer? Who knows what if Caillou got
- 1:05:31into some drug dealers? She's not that smart.
- 1:05:35What drugs do they have out in the marsh?
- 1:05:38Fucking shells. I don't know.
- 1:05:41Moonshine moonshine, yeah, wiegel moonshine.
- 1:05:44She's doesn't have the ingredients to make moonshine.
- 1:05:46What? I imagine she barely has the
- 1:05:48ingredients to make grits she could have a bully hidden meth
- 1:05:52lab out there. So she has a muscle flavored
- 1:05:54moonshine. You were what would she call it
- 1:05:59Marsh shines. Marsh Moon, we wash the Moon.
- 1:06:06Mars by Kya. Yeah, look, it's just the
- 1:06:10bacterial filled. Oh, yeah, sure did.
- 1:06:14That's where you get your high from the bacteria.
- 1:06:17Your brain yikes. He's doing something bad out
- 1:06:21there. I don't know what it is.
- 1:06:23Yeah, but it's bad enough that someone wanted to clean up their
- 1:06:26Footprints. Maybe he heard about her out
- 1:06:29there from take going out there because there was rumors and he
- 1:06:32Interested to see what was going on with the marshmallow.
- 1:06:35All right. We shall see?
- 1:06:38Do you reckon? What do you reckon is going to
- 1:06:40happen with Tate? You think he's come back.
- 1:06:41No one's coming back. No one's coming bike.
- 1:06:45Probably. Yeah.
- 1:06:47He wouldn't be such a big thing if he wasn't coming back.
- 1:06:49Yeah, he wouldn't be a main character who's never coming
- 1:06:52back. What excuse, is he gonna have?
- 1:06:55Sorry, I couldn't come back and rub your nipples because startup
- 1:06:58up, I found bigger nipples, it's got some pepperoni.
- 1:07:03Oh my God. Good on you tape.
- 1:07:07I found someone age-appropriate sorry.
- 1:07:09Sorry coach es was fully grown and at this point there was
- 1:07:13actually some booby meat as well.
- 1:07:16Yeah, she She finally reached full puberty yuck.
- 1:07:21We don't care about the excuses, though, tape.
- 1:07:23We're going to rip into you when you come back.
- 1:07:25Oh yeah. You let us down just like pong.
- 1:07:27You are like Papa. Look, honestly males who needs
- 1:07:34them except for Jumpin. Yeah.
- 1:07:37That's it. He's a real empathy.
- 1:07:39Cool. Car was almost there.
- 1:07:41He was almost there and that's what the so disappointing, I
- 1:07:45know. And then he just let the moms
- 1:07:47Sweep in and then punished Kaya for it.
- 1:07:49The fact that he have enough money to take her out to dinner
- 1:07:52means that he wasn't gambling or drinking either, and she had a
- 1:07:56meal with him in public. She almost made a friend.
- 1:08:01He was almost got swept away, but she got snatched.
- 1:08:07I just can't even steal with the dad, almost being so close.
- 1:08:12This Dad is the full part. One is full of disappointment.
- 1:08:16Never Male, dictate your life because if someone is
- 1:08:21disappointing, mosque disappointing, Jody's
- 1:08:23disappointing. My had a reason to leave though
- 1:08:26because Paul was fucking everything up.
- 1:08:28Yeah, trunk. She shouldn't have.
- 1:08:30She's gonna help are the same so much.
- 1:08:34She should have pushed him into the fucking, but then while he
- 1:08:37was just, she would have been forever in jail or whatever
- 1:08:40though, no? Because let's say he's very,
- 1:08:42very drunk. It would come up in the
- 1:08:44toxicology reports depending on technology then.
- 1:08:47Push him in the March. He, it's a gripped on the way
- 1:08:50home. Yeah.
- 1:08:51Then drowned. And then drown drunk.
- 1:08:53Who's the real enemy in all this so far because it's definitely
- 1:08:55not taped feel like it's just her parents because it's not
- 1:09:00even chasing Andrews yet. No, I reckon it to parents
- 1:09:03because if her dad wasn't who he was, he's a mom would have
- 1:09:07stayed and they would have had money.
- 1:09:10So mainly, it's possible because he had so many chances along the
- 1:09:13way. Yeah, but then also her Martian,
- 1:09:15the letter and its really sad. Also that everything she read.
- 1:09:19She's trying to find out if that animal species would leave and
- 1:09:23not come back. Yeah.
- 1:09:24Like she's trying to work out through her little textbooks.
- 1:09:28Yeah. Well, either way, Kya needs a
- 1:09:31lot of therapy but she's never going to get any therapy.
- 1:09:35We need therapy on reading this fucking book.
- 1:09:38It's kind of a bit struggle porn in a way.
- 1:09:41Hmm, But if you like getting involved in a story and you like
- 1:09:45it is struggle to make yourself feel good about it.
- 1:09:47Own life. This is a good book because it's
- 1:09:49fully encompassing. Yeah, you're very much in the
- 1:09:52struggle. You can always taste the Grits.
- 1:09:53Yeah, so I mean if that's what you like yeah it should be fine.
- 1:09:59You just got to get past some chapters.
- 1:10:00Yeah, their first decent, mishel chapters.
- 1:10:02And then you get off, you get the tone of it and then it
- 1:10:05flows. Yeah.
- 1:10:06You got to get to when she learns to read and then I like a
- 1:10:09good murder mystery though. So I'm Ivan.
- 1:10:12Get yeah. By the end of this, I was like
- 1:10:14year I could get into it. I just wish we got there.
- 1:10:17Faster, we need to know more about Chase Andrews.
- 1:10:19We need to know more. I'm assuming that's where we're
- 1:10:22leading off. In the next part, I feel like
- 1:10:25she's going to get blamed because of all the gossip but
- 1:10:28then she's going to be innocent. Maybe.
- 1:10:30Yeah. And maybe it'll go into this
- 1:10:32whole thing where they try and burn her at the stake like a
- 1:10:34witch and oh, yeah, the townspeople are going to what I
- 1:10:37have. It would only make sense to
- 1:10:39blame her though. She's the only person in the
- 1:10:41market. Exactly 47.
- 1:10:43And if anyone was to see any think it would probably be her.
- 1:10:46Yep. So It makes sense.
- 1:10:47She's just trying to exist. Honestly, she's checked out.
- 1:10:51I mean, he's just trying to get to her next meal.
- 1:10:53Literally, I think the criticism of this book is that it's always
- 1:10:58the white protagonist. Yeah.
- 1:11:01And it's never not, you know what I mean?
- 1:11:04Like it's always the White story is more important.
- 1:11:06Yeah. And I kind of I would love to
- 1:11:09hear more about jumping and jumping and Mabel.
- 1:11:11I know we don't know. We don't get much about them.
- 1:11:14Hopefully that changes. I don't know.
- 1:11:16I want to know more about What they're dealing with.
- 1:11:18Yeah. Anything.
- 1:11:19I'll so we're just excited to keep going.
- 1:11:21We're excited to keep going. It's picking up, it's fine.
- 1:11:25So let's just wrap up. We've already done our
- 1:11:28predictions and then next time we check in will be seeing if
- 1:11:32any of those predictions stick. So you've tied ever found
- 1:11:35someone with big nipples and Chase Andrews will look so much
- 1:11:41pussy. Exactly.
- 1:11:44These are the questions that everyone wants answered for
- 1:11:46sure. Sure.
- 1:11:47I'm sure there's bigger questions and because these are
- 1:11:50the things we want to know that this fucking Simple Minds.
