Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: At Opie Radio, we consider our guest part of the family.
- 0:04Speaker 1: That's why when the great founder Gary Wroke of Ubon's
- 0:07Speaker 1: Barbecue of Yazoo passed away recently, our entire team was
- 0:11Speaker 1: so saddened by the news that we felt it out
- 0:13Speaker 1: our obligation to shine a light on this extraordinary man. Sure,
- 0:18Speaker 1: a lot of us know that Gary has the best
- 0:20Speaker 1: barbecue recipe going back five generations, and he even gave
- 0:24Speaker 1: the world a delicious bloody merry mix. But he was
- 0:26Speaker 1: also dearly loved by his entire family and community. He'll
- 0:30Speaker 1: be missed at the Big Apple Barbecue block party come
- 0:33Speaker 1: next year and every year thereafter. It seemed that wherever
- 0:36Speaker 1: Gary found himself, he became the center of attention, and
- 0:40Speaker 1: rightly so. You just have to listen to the montage
- 0:43Speaker 1: that follows to know why. He was old school, a
- 0:46Speaker 1: Southern gentleman, hard worker and knew how to have a
- 0:49Speaker 1: good time and of course host a good time. This
- 0:53Speaker 1: man was one of a kind, the real thing and
- 0:56Speaker 1: a big deal. Indeed, you can go to Ubon's Barbecue
- 0:59Speaker 1: web page to learn more. We'll leave a link in
- 1:01Speaker 1: the description, but here's a quote from his loving daughter
- 1:04Speaker 1: Leslie the Barbecue Princess. Our relationship as a father daughter team,
- 1:10Speaker 1: while not unique, is rare. My role is as a
- 1:13Speaker 1: partner in the restaurant, catering and sauce business as well
- 1:16Speaker 1: as rib cook chicken cook for the competition team. Daddy
- 1:20Speaker 1: is kind enough to share his spotlight with me whenever possible. Honestly,
- 1:24Speaker 1: he's our shining star. He's taught hundreds of people how
- 1:28Speaker 1: to cook, shared his methods and his ingredients. At this point,
- 1:32Speaker 1: he's one of the grandfathers of barbecue on behalf of
- 1:37Speaker 1: the Westwood One podcast network and Opie Radio. We want
- 1:40Speaker 1: to thank Gary and the entire Ubon family for being
- 1:44Speaker 1: part of our podcast. Our condolences to everyone at U
- 1:48Speaker 1: Bond's would deep regret for your loss. The world's just
- 1:51Speaker 1: a little less funny today. But Gary was a man
- 1:54Speaker 1: with a great legacy. To put it simply, he left
- 1:57Speaker 1: behind a big footprint. Let's honor it now. Here's a
- 2:01Speaker 1: montage of Gary with Opie and Carl back in the
- 2:04Speaker 1: summer of twenty eighteen at the Big Apple Barbecue. With
- 2:08Speaker 1: respect to his entire family, for sure, we would have
- 2:10Speaker 1: had Gary on a number of times in the future.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Had to feed allowed us to the opportunity, but we were
- 2:16Speaker 1: blessed to at least have this visit with him on
- 2:18Speaker 1: Opie Radio.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Who is that guy? That's Gary? What's up? Gary? What's up? Brother?
- 2:26Speaker 3: How are you so good to see you in meeting?
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's good to put a face with that, with that name.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Really, finally, I feel like.
- 2:34Speaker 3: You know now, you're not at all what I thought
- 2:36Speaker 3: you'd look like. We ain't gonna go into that. Tell
- 2:39Speaker 3: me what you thought it looked like? Oh I figured see,
- 2:42Speaker 3: I was looking for you to be freckle faced, a redheaded,
- 2:44Speaker 3: like Open Cunningham, you know on Andy and Mayberry in.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Happy Days.
- 2:51Speaker 3: You know, I figured you're gonna be like Open Cunningham,
- 2:53Speaker 3: be freckle faced owt.
- 2:54Speaker 2: But you ain't. You actually got some whiskers.
- 2:57Speaker 5: I actually, Gary, I'll help you out. I'll help you
- 3:01Speaker 5: out with a little modern culture.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Yes or no? He looks like Ellen DeGeneres.
- 3:09Speaker 2: What making me take my hat off? I say, no,
- 3:16Speaker 2: much better looking to me.
- 3:18Speaker 3: And look, they're not something wrong with that, but but
- 3:22Speaker 3: he is a He is a lot better than better
- 3:24Speaker 3: looking than And you know I'm I'm a fellaw Uh.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Your Ellen Degenerous line didn't work.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Dah, I forgot that I'm in the South, your favored
- 3:34Speaker 5: down there.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I feel so stupid that I shaved my beard a
- 3:38Speaker 4: week ago.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I could have really used the beard at this event.
- 3:41Speaker 4: You would have looked better with a beard. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 4: for sure, they would have never known.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Hold on, this is this is day.
- 3:46Speaker 6: We only have one mic, so I gotta I gotta
- 3:48Speaker 6: like pass it around day from Muban yo.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Yeah, so they would have never known he wasn't from
- 3:53Speaker 5: the South if he had just had a beard.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Look I got I've gotta.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I hate to do this to you, I really do,
- 4:00Speaker 3: because we're in your town. But even if you is,
- 4:05Speaker 3: if I wouldn't, i'd had correct he it's Ubons, not Ubons.
- 4:09Speaker 3: That sounds just no, that ain't right it Ubon.
- 4:12Speaker 4: That sounded too northern Ubons.
- 4:16Speaker 2: U bonds you you Ubon.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Oh my god, I'm in trouble already, Carl.
- 4:20Speaker 5: The minute Opie got here, the first person I need
- 4:22Speaker 5: to do some too is Tank, one of the best
- 4:26Speaker 5: pig farmers in the country. I go, this is Tank, Tank,
- 4:29Speaker 5: Meet Opie. OPI goes hi Hank.
- 4:34Speaker 2: He he say, hey man, how y'all doing?
- 4:40Speaker 6: He was not happy I just couldn't hear, and I
- 4:43Speaker 6: told him my uncle's name.
- 4:45Speaker 4: He's no longer with us. He was Hank, and he
- 4:47Speaker 4: was an elevator fucking guy.
- 4:49Speaker 2: He was in the Union. He was a tough guy.
- 4:51Speaker 5: You're trying to fix it. You're like, you know, because
- 4:54Speaker 5: Hank is a good name. He goes, what the hell
- 4:57Speaker 5: is this guy you brought around here? And I go,
- 4:59Speaker 5: that's the oapster. That guy raises pigs, all sorts of pigs, right,
- 5:03Speaker 5: Carl Delicious. I had one of his lard hogs. It's unbelievable, unbelievable.
- 5:08Speaker 5: These guys know more about barbecue than you know most people,
- 5:11Speaker 5: especially up here in New York. They read a couple
- 5:14Speaker 5: of blogs, they watch three YouTube videos, and then they're expert.
- 5:17Speaker 5: I mean, he's a six generations at U Bonn's in Mississippi.
- 5:20Speaker 4: There's two things in Mississippi, a jail and U bons
- 5:25Speaker 4: And it's wait to say. He says, I spent a
- 5:30Speaker 4: lot of time in both.
- 5:31Speaker 2: And who's that.
- 5:32Speaker 4: That's the barbecue ninja. He's the man.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, man, it's uh. You know, I'm one of
- 5:36Speaker 6: the new people on U Bonns. I've been here twenty
- 5:39Speaker 6: one years.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And uh yeah, uh.
- 5:41Speaker 6: So you know, I've got a couple of them just
- 5:44Speaker 6: accepted me in the fold. You know, they just figure
- 5:46Speaker 6: he's like award his assid and going anywhere. So we're
- 5:49Speaker 6: just gonna, you know, just accept the fact that he's
- 5:51Speaker 6: there and here I am. I'm not going anywhere.
- 5:54Speaker 4: So you've been out of twenty one years? When will
- 5:56Speaker 4: you officially be accepted?
- 5:57Speaker 2: How many more years?
- 5:58Speaker 4: You think?
- 5:59Speaker 6: I'm hold now for at least five more years, yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 6: you know, and then then I think at least I'll
- 6:04Speaker 6: be vested, you know, I can retire and be aye
- 6:07Speaker 6: and then twenty five years.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Yeah, But I got I gotta tell you about Craig
- 6:10Speaker 3: now the ninja. You know, I since I became a
- 6:14Speaker 3: member of the watery eyed old farts club, I don't
- 6:18Speaker 3: do much, you know, And they take up the slag
- 6:21Speaker 3: lest of him, and they know they know what to do.
- 6:25Speaker 3: They've been doing around so long. But it's so hard
- 6:28Speaker 3: on an old man to have to sit back and
- 6:30Speaker 3: watch the youngsters do it. But now that right there,
- 6:33Speaker 3: the best boss in the world. She'll tell anybody what
- 6:36Speaker 3: to do.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Who she She's the barbecue princess. Well, were you in
- 6:40Speaker 4: a coma. I'm trying to learn.
- 6:42Speaker 6: I'm trying to learn you were you you introduced me
- 6:44Speaker 6: to like twenty five apple barbecue.
- 6:46Speaker 4: We're not an American girl doll reunion. This is a barbecue.
- 6:49Speaker 4: You introduced me to twenty five rednecks in two minutes.
- 6:51Speaker 4: I'm trying to figure it all out. Now, just say yes, certain,
- 6:54Speaker 4: thank you, and.
- 6:56Speaker 7: That's all you have to know.
- 6:57Speaker 2: That's it. That's it.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Yeah, how you're doing?
- 7:01Speaker 7: Hey, Ken, can we get y'all some to drink?
- 7:04Speaker 2: I mean y'all need like a beer? A okay, So
- 7:08Speaker 2: he's good. You got okay, so good drink.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I was incognito, but I don't know if he might
- 7:20Speaker 4: pick that up. But he rolled in and said, I
- 7:22Speaker 4: heard he likes a fruity drink. Bad news. Bad news
- 7:25Speaker 4: travels fast in Mississippi.
- 7:28Speaker 3: What I want to know is is it true? I
- 7:32Speaker 3: think by the looks of his face it's very true.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I mean, he drinks something you need to wear garter
- 7:38Speaker 4: belts with.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Come on, Garry, you like it.
- 7:42Speaker 6: You like a good like grapefruit beer or a fruity drink,
- 7:45Speaker 6: don't you, Garry?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Come on, help me out. Why what do you say?
- 7:52Speaker 4: He said, grapefruit beer.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Now I do like some great fruit with some of
- 7:58Speaker 3: that vaka in it. Now, I do like, but that's
- 8:01Speaker 3: about it, fruity and I'm gonna get it.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Hold on, Tomato is a fruit.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Wait a minute, you're right, tomight it is a fruit. Hell,
- 8:10Speaker 3: we call it a vegetable where I come from. But well,
- 8:13Speaker 3: wait a minute. Gravy is actually my favorite vegetable. All right, gravy.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Gravy is actually my favorite vegetable.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Especially when you put it on French fries.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I gotta tell you.
- 8:23Speaker 4: The U Bond Bloody Mary mix is amazing, though day
- 8:27Speaker 4: thank you bro we Uh that's that's Garian Leslie. That's
- 8:30Speaker 4: you know. It's a fourth generation recipe. We've been doing
- 8:32Speaker 4: it as a family.
- 8:33Speaker 5: The U Bonds is known for hospitality, and for a
- 8:36Speaker 5: long time, people would come up wherever we were and
- 8:38Speaker 5: be like, hey, give me a bloody Mary.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Hey give me a bloody Mary. Hey give me a
- 8:40Speaker 4: bloody Mary.
- 8:41Speaker 8: So we figured hell fuck so I charge them for it,
- 8:43Speaker 8: right like Carl used to bring it by the station
- 8:46Speaker 8: before we got fired.
- 8:47Speaker 2: But but I brought I brought it.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Fuck Roland, Wait a second, let me be clear.
- 8:55Speaker 4: You got fired. I'm Latino. We quit before that comes
- 9:02Speaker 4: around the corner.
- 9:03Speaker 5: A y'all off your goddamn heads off.
- 9:07Speaker 4: We're quitters. Don't get me involved.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And Carl said that as you took a pool off
- 9:11Speaker 3: your fruity drink.
- 9:12Speaker 5: So I'm gonna have to fight my way out of here, right,
- 9:16Speaker 5: I'm gonna have to fight my way out of here.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Let me let me tell you something about Ubon's up.
- 9:20Speaker 5: But I'm a chef that likes to hate things, right,
- 9:23Speaker 5: I hate things until you change my mind. I knew
- 9:26Speaker 5: about Ubon's Buddy Merriments before I knew the Ubon family.
- 9:30Speaker 4: And uh, it's almost like they're in that bottle. You know.
- 9:33Speaker 4: They're the nicest, you know.
- 9:35Speaker 5: I showed up here not knowing anybody, and pitt masters
- 9:38Speaker 5: are a tough group, you know, Like, oh, I'm a
- 9:40Speaker 5: New Yorker and I'm like, yeah, what's up, chef?
- 9:42Speaker 4: Asshole? You know they don't.
- 9:45Speaker 5: You know, Like for the first year I was here,
- 9:47Speaker 5: it's like every question was like why you make the
- 9:49Speaker 5: food so small?
- 9:52Speaker 4: Everything you make is so small.
- 9:54Speaker 5: I'm always hungry here in New York, right, So, but
- 9:57Speaker 5: Gary and Ninja Barbecue, Princess Dave, they didn't even blink
- 10:02Speaker 5: an eye. They said, come up, have a bloody Mary.
- 10:05Speaker 5: You're one of us, and I'll uh, they'll be my
- 10:07Speaker 5: friends forever. I'm still talking. We're in the South now,
- 10:14Speaker 5: I have some manners, Okay.
- 10:17Speaker 6: I just wanted to say, as they beat the shit
- 10:20Speaker 6: out of me, I feel like I've known these guys
- 10:22Speaker 6: for like ten years.
- 10:22Speaker 4: I just met him. Oh yeah, they and they'll talk
- 10:24Speaker 4: to you like they've known you for ten years. You
- 10:26Speaker 4: getting fat, Carl, look at titties on you. They talk
- 10:33Speaker 4: about you like they've known you since you were two.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I don't what stories last night? Huh? You told some
- 10:40Speaker 2: stories yesterday.
- 10:41Speaker 4: As we call it in the South, that pimp.
- 10:46Speaker 3: They might have been a little bit induced by some
- 10:49Speaker 3: some a type of liquid consumption there.
- 10:52Speaker 2: They might hinder that process today.
- 10:54Speaker 5: Oh my god, it was so funny just talking about
- 10:58Speaker 5: the South and crazy shit.
- 11:00Speaker 4: I like to joke about the midche trying to buy
- 11:02Speaker 4: a horse. Do you remember telling that one?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Gary? Remember that buy a horse?
- 11:09Speaker 4: You don't have to tell a.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Joke after that.
- 11:11Speaker 4: You just say, midget goes and buys a horse. You're good.
- 11:13Speaker 6: I just want to make sure Gary remember telling you that,
- 11:16Speaker 6: because at that point we were down to my uh
- 11:18Speaker 6: my cell phone.
- 11:19Speaker 2: What a mess last night. Well it was pretty good,
- 11:22Speaker 2: all right, It did the job.
- 11:23Speaker 3: So you know, I do have a another story, if
- 11:27Speaker 3: you'd like me.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Live lived for him.
- 11:30Speaker 3: This real pretty lady and some of these southern ladies
- 11:35Speaker 3: are just really quiet, gorgeous.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I'm looking at way across from this was uh, this

- 11:55Speaker 3: ears and said you need to uh, you know, he
- 11:58Speaker 3: took it out and said, now look, just save money.
- 12:00Speaker 3: He said, don't come back. He said this is gonna
- 12:02Speaker 3: happen again. Said go to the drug store and buy
- 12:05Speaker 3: you some some naire or something for you know, to
- 12:08Speaker 3: remove hair. Well, you know, the druggist. When this lady
- 12:11Speaker 3: said can you tell me where the narre is, he
- 12:13Speaker 3: came out behind the counter.
- 12:14Speaker 2: You know he's gonna give that that that.
- 12:16Speaker 3: First rate service and uh she said I need something
- 12:19Speaker 3: to remove hair and uh he said, well this should
- 12:23Speaker 3: work right here. Said now if you put it on
- 12:25Speaker 3: your legs. Just be careful, don't wear pantyhose because she said, oh,
- 12:30Speaker 3: it's not from my legs. He said, well, if you
- 12:33Speaker 3: put it under your arms, then uh, just be be
- 12:36Speaker 3: sure you don't put sleeves on because.

- 12:45Speaker 3: what's it for.
- 12:46Speaker 2: She said, it's for my snauzer.
- 12:48Speaker 3: He said, oh, in that case, don't ride a bicycle
- 12:50Speaker 3: for at least a week.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Shout.
- 13:04Speaker 7: But see, I've been listening to him for forty five years,
- 13:06Speaker 7: and I call that one number seven because he's got
- 13:11Speaker 7: a million of them. And he'll start to tell me
- 13:13Speaker 7: and I'll say, no, no, daddy, I've heard that that's
- 13:15Speaker 7: number seven.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Well, ill have a We have a penal institution there,

- 17:08Speaker 3: I have never had time passed by as fast as
- 17:11Speaker 3: my life. If if all my life passed by that fast,
- 17:14Speaker 3: I'd be dead tomorrow.
- 17:15Speaker 7: I don't care telling them what your theory of life,
- 17:18Speaker 7: what life is like?
- 17:19Speaker 3: You know, as I get a little older, I realized
- 17:22Speaker 3: that life is like a roll of toilet paper. The
- 17:27Speaker 3: closer you get to the end, the faster he goes.
- 17:29Speaker 3: And I'm almost of that cardboard murder.
- 17:32Speaker 2: You know, you know, you know what is.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I don't know what that cardboard center. You know the
- 17:37Speaker 3: kids doing they say that's that's a murder. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 3: we never stopped learning, say this is this is all
- 17:47Speaker 3: part of the learning process. Never stopped learning, because then
- 17:51Speaker 3: you you might die.
- 17:53Speaker 2: You've been at this a long time. Gary, Can you
- 17:55Speaker 2: tell me the history of yuvonn Well? And who did
- 17:58Speaker 2: start with you?
- 18:00Speaker 3: You bought the sauce was made for uh, my grandmother
- 18:04Speaker 3: and grad We'll go back to the start. They used
- 18:05Speaker 3: to make this soft up every fourth of July. What
- 18:10Speaker 3: year are we talking about, Well, I don't know. I
- 18:13Speaker 3: wasn't in the world yet, so I don't know. But
- 18:15Speaker 3: my grandmother and grandfather did this and they would cook
- 18:17Speaker 3: a whole hog or side of beef every fourth of July,
- 18:20Speaker 3: and they would mix this soft up in a number
- 18:22Speaker 3: three tub stir with a bow panel that Granddad probably
- 18:25Speaker 3: fished with the day before.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Health department frowns on that right now, they don't like
- 18:29Speaker 2: you doing that. I think we had a little flavored.
- 18:31Speaker 2: I'm with you on that. There's a scale. Oh okay,
- 18:34Speaker 2: never mind.
- 18:35Speaker 3: But uh then my daddy condenced that recipe down to
- 18:38Speaker 3: a gallon, and then I started making hundred gallons, and
- 18:43Speaker 3: now we're making.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Chuckling the gallons.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Actually, truck came from that far back, and I got
- 18:50Speaker 3: a My grandmother died in in the mid seventies and
- 18:55Speaker 3: my aunt had a original handwritten recipe and my grandma
- 19:00Speaker 3: mother's handwriting on card stock and had it lemonated and
- 19:03Speaker 3: sent that to me, and she said, I thought, of
- 19:05Speaker 3: all the grandkids, you might like to have this. It
- 19:08Speaker 3: was a recipe for you Bonn's barbecue saw. And I said, okay,
- 19:12Speaker 3: let's see how much us roar boys do a lot
- 19:14Speaker 3: of tinkering with stuff. I said, I'm gonna see if
- 19:17Speaker 3: Daddy changed it. But I went right down the line.
- 19:20Speaker 3: She saltaate her onions in butter because she didn't have
- 19:23Speaker 3: a dehydrated onion.
- 19:25Speaker 2: At that time, and that's what I used.
- 19:27Speaker 3: But that's the only difference, and how she made it
- 19:30Speaker 3: and made it people.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Seem to love it.
- 19:32Speaker 1: So you guys got a factory down there.
- 19:36Speaker 3: My factory was a closed in portion of my two
- 19:40Speaker 3: car garage that was inspected by.
- 19:42Speaker 2: The health department.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I used to make it one hundred gallons at a time,
- 19:46Speaker 3: and I would make it and hand bottle it. I've
- 19:49Speaker 3: got a dispenser on the side of my bed, and
- 19:52Speaker 3: I even I even upgraded. I got two dispensions where
- 19:54Speaker 3: I had two people working looks like me, and you

- 26:06Speaker 7: Yeah, but we had to be on TV the next morning.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Me dad, we were like a team.

- 26:40Speaker 5: a you have a world champion here and you're making
- 26:42Speaker 5: her talk into your phone.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Well, what are we gonna do her? Thinking about our
- 26:46Speaker 2: podcast equipment crapped out. We got Gary wants to tell
- 26:49Speaker 2: one more story.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Well, this is a story about a speech impaired midget.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Okay, he won the.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Lottery and hate this side that he wanted to have

- 27:04Speaker 3: and he bought him a new Cadillac, got a bumper
- 27:06Speaker 3: hitch on it, and brought him a new horse trailer. And
- 27:08Speaker 3: he started touring around Texas and he came to this
- 27:11Speaker 3: spot that had big old white fence around it and
- 27:14Speaker 3: big old long driveway. So he turned up in there
- 27:17Speaker 3: and he went knocked on the door, and this big
- 27:19Speaker 3: old cowboy come out with that stretching hat, and he said, mister,
- 27:23Speaker 3: I would like to buy a waste horse. He said, well,
- 27:26Speaker 3: I got something I show you man that that Texan

- 27:35Speaker 3: she is so putty. I love her.
- 27:37Speaker 2: She's so putty. He said, can I see her? Can
- 27:40Speaker 2: I see her teeth?
- 27:41Speaker 3: My Texans kind of pissed off, and he just reached
- 27:43Speaker 3: and grabbed him and struck him up and let him
- 27:45Speaker 3: open that mouth, say, yes, sir, she's healthy.
- 27:47Speaker 2: She got some puddy teeth.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Set him back down. He said, can I can I
- 27:51Speaker 3: pat her on the main? He said, yeah, Now that's
- 27:53Speaker 3: that hair that comes off the neck. He said yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: He picked him up and he petted him on the maine.

- 28:32Speaker 4: Right there? Yeah, Jerry, once you take us.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Out, guys, I got it. I've just got to say that, Opie.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I've met Carl before, but man, New York people just
- 28:42Speaker 3: keep getting better.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Thank you, Gary, Long live the King Gary of ugh Bonds.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And just for the record, Carl, I love you and
- 28:52Speaker 1: I love you too. Greg. Now that we're all touching
- 28:54Speaker 1: peepee tips, now to take care of a little business,
- 28:58Speaker 1: we'd like to say thank you for some debscribing, downloading, sharing,
- 29:01Speaker 1: rating US five stars, and for staying involved with Opie
- 29:04Speaker 1: Radio on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. As Greg mentioned, we've
- 29:09Speaker 1: had a lot of fun producing each one of these episodes,
- 29:12Speaker 1: even if things got a little noisi or windy at times.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I met Opie back in May when Tim introduced us
- 29:18Speaker 1: because he wanted a new version of the old intro
- 29:20Speaker 1: of men. I certainly wasn't expecting to be as involved
- 29:23Speaker 1: in this show as I am. But I also wasn't
- 29:25Speaker 1: expecting to marry that hot black chick I met downtown
- 29:28Speaker 1: in New York City back in two thousand and four
- 29:30Speaker 1: while ruezing. But that's how life happens for the better. No.
- 29:34Speaker 1: By the way, had Carl asked me to name his
- 29:36Speaker 1: new place, I would have told him, please, you have
- 29:39Speaker 1: to call it the Cuban.
- 29:40Speaker 4: What else?
- 29:42Speaker 1: So this is the end of summer and we want
- 29:44Speaker 1: to let you know, Mike Opie said as we head
- 29:47Speaker 1: into the fall, phase two begins because now we have
- 29:50Speaker 1: a studio, an actual studio. Of course, don't expect every
- 29:53Speaker 1: episode to be a radio broadcast. Greig still wants to
- 29:56Speaker 1: hit the streets and visit friends on location. He's got
- 30:00Speaker 1: big plans, including fun new guests, the usual suspects, and
- 30:03Speaker 1: things I'm not allowed to talk about at this time.
- 30:06Speaker 1: So as we say goodbye to the summer and the
- 30:08Speaker 1: first phase of this new podcast, we simply want to
- 30:11Speaker 1: thank you for your support. But stick around because we're
- 30:15Speaker 1: just getting started on Opie Radio.
