- 0:00Hey everybody, this is your GM, your back row
- 0:01dom, it's your GM who currently is not on a team
- 0:03right now, but don't you worry about it, Kale,
- 0:05here to bring you episode 10 of the Stack and
- 0:07Shed series. Now in this series, we're covering
- 0:09all 32 teams, so everybody gets a chance to be
- 0:12talked about, all right? Now in this series,
- 0:14we're covering a few different topics, and they
- 0:16include what went wrong, what do they need, stack
- 0:19or shed. Their draft picks, one move I would
- 0:23do in their cap space. Now, in this episode,
- 0:25we're talking about the Eagles. So for all my
- 0:27Eagles fans out there, fly Eagles, fly, because
- 0:30you guys aren't going to the Super Bowl anytime
- 0:31soon. But let's talk about it. All right, let's
- 0:41get into it. So what went wrong in the Eagles
- 0:43season? And I would venture to say it was inconsistent
- 0:45offensive play calling and execution. As we all
- 0:49know, every time a team wins the Super Bowl,
- 0:51they undergo some change. Now, the degree of
- 0:53the change varies. Sometimes an entire coaching
- 0:56staff can leave and a whole bunch of players
- 0:58can leave. And then there's other times where
- 1:00everybody stays for reduced salaries and reduced
- 1:03roles just so they can run it back one more time.
- 1:06As much as Nick Sirianni publicly wanted Kellen
- 1:09Moore to stay with the Eagles, we knew that wasn't
- 1:11going to happen. Now, I would have expected the
- 1:13Eagles to make another external hire at offensive
- 1:16coordinator, but of course they didn't and they
- 1:18decided to make an internal promotion and make
- 1:20Kevin Petula the next offensive coordinator.
- 1:22Regardless if you think that was the right move
- 1:24or the wrong move, it was a move that was most
- 1:27likely going to happen. However, there is a trend
- 1:30that I need to bring to your attention. Whenever
- 1:32the Eagles make an external hire at either offensive
- 1:35or defensive coordinator, the team tends to progress.
- 1:38But whenever they make an internal promotion,
- 1:41that's when the team regresses. Now you would
- 1:43have think the Eagles would have picked up on
- 1:45this by now, but clearly they haven't. Now, according
- 1:48to Summersports, here's the stats for the Eagles
- 1:50passing offense in 2024. They had 448 passing
- 1:54attempts for 303 completions, 3 ,517 passing
- 1:59yards, 206 .9 passing yards per game, 7 .8 passing
- 2:03yards per attempt, 24 touchdowns, 67 .6 completion
- 2:07percentage, and a 44 .3 % pass rate. Now, here's
- 2:11the stats for the Eagles rushing offense in 2024.
- 2:13621 rushing attempts for 3 ,000 148 rushing yards,
- 2:17179 .3 rushing yards per game, 4 .9 rushing yards
- 2:22per carry, 30 rushing touchdowns, and a 55 .7
- 2:25% run rate. Now here's the Eagles passing offense
- 2:28in 2025. 497 passing attempts for 318 completions,
- 2:343 ,498 passing yards, 205 .8 passing yards per
- 2:39game, 7 passing yards per attempt, 26 touchdowns,
- 2:42a 64 % completion percentage, and a 52 .7 % pass
- 2:46rate. Now when we look at the Eagles rushing
- 2:48offense in 2025, this is what we have. 478 rushing
- 2:53attempts for 1 ,988 rushing yards, 116 .9 rushing
- 2:58yards per game, 4 .1 rushing yards per carry,
- 3:0017 rushing touchdowns, and a 47 .3 % run rate.
- 3:04Now this is how efficient the Eagles offense
- 3:06was in 2024 to 2025. So in 2024, they had a 44
- 3:11.25 % offensive success rate, 210 red zone plays
- 3:15for 38 red zone touchdowns and 12 turnovers.
- 3:18In 2025, they had a 40... 2 .38 success rate
- 3:22151 red zone plays 31 red zone touchdowns and
- 3:2713 turnovers The proof is in the pudding here,
- 3:30folks. The offense from 25 regressed compared
- 3:33to the offense in 24. And it was the same personnel.
- 3:36There wasn't a significant change from both of
- 3:39those offenses. Now, as much as everybody wants
- 3:42to blame Kevin Petullo on why this offense wasn't
- 3:44successful, we need to point fingers at Jalen
- 3:46Hurts as well. Because there were multiple times
- 3:49where Jalen Hurts did not throw it to the open
- 3:51man. There were multiple times in the Thursday
- 3:53night game against the Giants where multiple
- 3:55people were open and he didn't throw him the
- 3:57ball. Literally, Dallas Goddard just ran up the
- 4:01middle. Nobody was covering him at all. You could
- 4:04have had a walk -in touchdown right there. He
- 4:05didn't throw it to him. Devontae Smith was open
- 4:07one time. He didn't throw him the ball. Even
- 4:09when you look at the Black Friday game against
- 4:11the Bears, there were multiple times where people
- 4:14were open. For every two to five games that the
- 4:17Eagles offense struggles and they're not playing
- 4:19their best ball, they'll have two or three games
- 4:21where they're actually playing a little bit better
- 4:23and now everybody wants to talk their stuff.
- 4:26And I'm sorry, I'm not going to accept that.
- 4:28Because at the end of the day, what separates
- 4:30the greats from average is consistency. And if
- 4:34you're not showing consistency, then we have
- 4:36a problem. Now with that being said, what do
- 4:39the Eagles need? And that is better offensive
- 4:41play calling and execution. Now, I don't think
- 4:44Sean Manion is a bad hire. I just would have
- 4:46thought the Eagles would have went after a veteran
- 4:48offensive coordinator, someone like a Mike McDaniel
- 4:51or Brian Dable, for instance, right? Because
- 4:53when we look at Sean Manion's coaching history,
- 4:56he started off as an offensive assistant with
- 4:58the Packers in 24. Then he was promoted to work
- 5:01with the quarterbacks in 25. Now, I'm not saying
- 5:04this is a bad thing, but we have to be a little
- 5:06bit patient before we start giving our opinions
- 5:09on if this move was either good or bad. Now,
- 5:12as far as execution, that falls on Jalen Hurts.
- 5:14If somebody is open, just give them the ball.
- 5:17You have a plethora of different options that
- 5:20you can pass to. Somebody is going to be open.
- 5:23If Saquon isn't open, Devontae Smith is going
- 5:26to be open. If A .J. Brown isn't open, Dallas
- 5:29Gardner is going to be open. If Hollywood Brown
- 5:31isn't open, somebody is going to be open. Nobody
- 5:34is saying that you have to be a perfectionist.
- 5:36Nobody is saying that you have to play at an
- 5:38MVP level. All they want you to do is just execute.
- 5:43If you can execute, nobody will complain. Now,
- 5:46with that being said, the question we all need
- 5:48to ask ourselves is stack or shed? And I will
- 5:50eventually say stack. And the reason why I say
- 5:52that is because this roster is still competitive.
- 5:55All they have to do is just address the few holes
- 5:57on this team. Now, I'm not surprised the Eagles
- 6:00haven't been big players in free agency because
- 6:02I know they've been trying to go after a pass
- 6:04rusher and that hasn't been successful. Now,
- 6:07we all know they signed Tyreek Woolen, which
- 6:09is a good move. And we know that they re -signed
- 6:11Dallas Goddard to a one -year deal. That's good
- 6:13as well. But as far as that big dynamic move
- 6:16that everybody is waiting for the Eagles to make,
- 6:18I don't think that's going to happen. And if
- 6:20it does, it'll probably be at the trade deadline
- 6:22during the season. When we look at their draft
- 6:24picks, they have their first, their second, they
- 6:26have two thirds, two fourths, and two fifths.
- 6:28But the question is this. If you're Howie, is
- 6:31there somebody in this draft that you feel like
- 6:33you may have to trade up to get? Or is there
- 6:35somebody that you feel confident that you can
- 6:37get in the second or third round where you can
- 6:39trade down and you can get more picks? I believe
- 6:42the second and fourth round is the sweet spot
- 6:44in this draft class. And I believe a lot of teams
- 6:47are going to trade down to be big players within
- 6:49that range. And I also believe that a lot of
- 6:52teams are preparing themselves for the 27 draft
- 6:55class. So if you're the Eagles, what do you do?
- 6:58Do you stay put? Do you be aggressive? Or do
- 7:01you try to trade down? Me personally, I would
- 7:04trade down just a little bit. If you just move
- 7:06down maybe two or three spots, I think you're
- 7:09still in a really good spot. However, if there's
- 7:12somebody that you're really high on, that you
- 7:14believe that if you add them to the team, they're
- 7:16going to be a dynamic playmaker, then you go
- 7:19and be aggressive and you make that move. Now,
- 7:21the one move that I would do is draft a right
- 7:24tackle. Now, I know this is a little bit controversial,
- 7:26but just walk with me, okay? In the past few
- 7:29years, we've started to see that Lane Johnson's
- 7:32availability in play has started to regress.
- 7:35And we know in the last few years, there's been
- 7:37rumors going around that he's contemplating retirement.
- 7:40So if you're the Eagles, I think this is the
- 7:43perfect year for you to go after right tackle.
- 7:45If you trade up and get one of the top right
- 7:48tackle prospects, and then you just let them
- 7:50sit and learn under Lane Johnson, I think that's
- 7:53a good move. Because at this point, you're going
- 7:56to have to start making some investments into
- 7:58this offensive line again. Looking at their cap
- 8:01situation, they have $13 .6 million, which is
- 8:03probably going to be used for the draft picks.
- 8:05But the question is this, if you're the Eagles,
- 8:08Do you feel comfortable with your current cap
- 8:10situation right now? Do you feel like you need
- 8:13to restructure a couple deals so you can be players
- 8:15in that second and third wave of free agency?
- 8:18Because I don't think the Eagles are done. I
- 8:20think the Eagles are big game hunting. Now, I'm
- 8:23not saying the Eagles are going to make a big
- 8:25trade for Max Crosby or they're going to try
- 8:27to trade for Chris Jones or, I don't know, somebody
- 8:30else that's, you know, super elite or whatever.
- 8:32But I do expect for the Eagles to do something
- 8:35significant soon. But only time will tell. But
- 8:37I'm ending this episode here. If you guys like
