- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for we're back to the basics and healthcare
- 0:01Speaker 1: with balanced Life Chiropractic. We're here with doctor Harley and
- 0:05Speaker 1: we could say trick or treat real soon.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Halloween is this week Friday, not this weekend.
- 0:09Speaker 1: It's day. Friday's a weekend, and this is the time
- 0:12Speaker 1: of year when it's kind of the beginning of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: sweetest time of the year because we'll get a whole
- 0:16Speaker 1: bucket of candy on Friday and it'll be gone by
- 0:19Speaker 1: Saturday at noon, maybe not for everybody, but then as
- 0:23Speaker 1: soon as we get done with that, then we got
- 0:24Speaker 1: Thanksgiving coming, and there's all kinds of pies and cookies
- 0:27Speaker 1: and treats. And as soon as that's done, we got
- 0:30Speaker 1: we got what's the next one, Christmas Chris, and then
- 0:32Speaker 1: New Year's and then Super Bowl, and I mean we've
- 0:34Speaker 1: got like months of just gorging ourselves. So this is
- 0:38Speaker 1: a good time to maybe talk about that and the
- 0:40Speaker 1: effect that has on the body, because there's an effect.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Definitely, think about all that sugar that we're eating. You know,
- 0:46Speaker 2: one piece of candy here and there is not so bad.
- 0:48Speaker 2: But yeah, you said you got that giant bowl of
- 0:50Speaker 2: candy that your kids maybe got or you were giving
- 0:52Speaker 2: out and you didn't get as many trigger treaters, like,
- 0:54Speaker 2: oh you get all this candy I got to eat.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we have six trigger treaters over yere, but we
- 0:58Speaker 1: get enough for six hundred, you know, just in case.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Right, you never know me. This can be the year
- 1:02Speaker 2: that you have all the trigger and you don't want
- 1:04Speaker 2: to disappoint them.
- 1:05Speaker 1: No, you don't want to disappointment all.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But all that sugar really increases glucose levels in our body,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and that cause those little sugar crystals can cause little
- 1:13Speaker 2: micro tears in all of our blood vessels. So we
- 1:15Speaker 2: just have a little more inflammation going on. So then
- 1:17Speaker 2: we have the increased inflammation, might be a little more
- 1:20Speaker 2: run down, tired, achy could have like you know, health
- 1:25Speaker 2: flare ups or joint flaps, like I didn't do anything.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I thought I was doing good. What's happening? Or we're
- 1:31Speaker 2: getting sick a lot. You know, we're getting also into
- 1:33Speaker 2: cold and flu season.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It all just kind of comes together too.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yeah, right, So it's our body and our nervous system,
- 1:38Speaker 2: our immune system really come under attack this time of
- 1:41Speaker 2: year as one, it's getting darker, so we're not getting
- 1:43Speaker 2: outside as much. So we have lower vitamin D levels.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Vitamin D helps with the immune system, we have increased
- 1:49Speaker 2: levels of sugar, more stress, and it's just kind of
- 1:52Speaker 2: that perfect storm to create, you know, that cold and
- 1:55Speaker 2: flu season. We're just kind of getting sick and tired
- 1:57Speaker 2: a lot.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So what are things that people should do to limit
- 2:01Speaker 1: the effect on their body when we're getting into this season.
- 2:04Speaker 2: They definitely prepare. Don't wait until you are getting sick
- 2:07Speaker 2: and it's like, oh, now I should do something, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: make sure you're getting plenty of rest, trying not to
- 2:12Speaker 2: stay up too late, get good sleep, make sure you're
- 2:14Speaker 2: staying well hydrated, drinking plenty of water. You know, try
- 2:17Speaker 2: and eat a little more healthy balanced. See if you
- 2:20Speaker 2: eat a ton of candy this weekend, make sure you're
- 2:23Speaker 2: following up with maybe more salads and vegetables and chogging
- 2:27Speaker 2: lots of water to help kind of flush that. I say,
- 2:29Speaker 2: balance and moderation is always a good thing.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And if somebody would like to, maybe they're not currently
- 2:35Speaker 1: but they'd like to add chiropractic to their healthcare regimen,
- 2:38Speaker 1: that would also help them, because again, you can kind
- 2:40Speaker 1: of get your body all tuned up and have it
- 2:43Speaker 1: so it fights the stuff off as best it can.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Right. We've talked a lot about how chiropractic helps with
- 2:48Speaker 2: the immune systems. This is a great time to get
- 2:50Speaker 2: back to your chiropractor, get started with chiropractic. And if
- 2:53Speaker 2: you're someone that you're like, you know, I don't even
