- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello, Hello, how are you?
- 0:05Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 0:06Speaker 1: That's good. That's good. How's things been?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Not too bad? You're my first one for today, so
- 0:12Speaker 2: that's nice.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Oh, there you go. So whereabouts in the world are
- 0:15Speaker 1: you at the moment?
- 0:17Speaker 2: I'm in Melbourne?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Oh, Melbourne, Okay, there you go.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Half of the band's over in Finland, half of a
- 0:23Speaker 2: sort there you go.
- 0:25Speaker 1: There you go. That solves that problem.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's your eight PM so same here. I'm
- 0:30Speaker 3: in on the border of New South in Queensland.
- 0:32Speaker 2: So okay, sweet, well, yeah, I'm pat familiar with your magazine.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Obviously, so yeah, happy to be here for sure, for sure.
- 0:40Speaker 3: So tell the good listeners that heavy a bit about
- 0:43Speaker 3: the Eternal and you guys got some tour announcement that
- 0:46Speaker 3: you've got coming up.
- 0:47Speaker 2: And yep. So we're half Australian, half a Finnish kind
- 0:52Speaker 2: of dark melodic metal band with progressive kind of overtones.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I guess that's how people seem to do it. Sometimes
- 1:01Speaker 2: they say it's Gothic, sometimes they say it's duck. I
- 1:03Speaker 2: don't know, it's.
- 1:04Speaker 1: There's so many genres in metal, and.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So we're just kind of it's like a dark, moody metal,
- 1:11Speaker 2: you know. In the vein of your you know, your
- 1:12Speaker 2: Catatonians and and and all that kind of business. And yeah,
- 1:18Speaker 2: and we're hitting the road with a MorphOS next month,
- 1:21Speaker 2: and that's our second time touring with those guys. And
- 1:24Speaker 2: also our drummer is the drummer of a Morphous So
- 1:29Speaker 2: and yeah, we're releasing a new album on the first
- 1:33Speaker 2: day of that tour, which is Obscure at Horizons, which
- 1:35Speaker 2: is partially why I'm here.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yes, yes, So tell us a bit about the album
- 1:40Speaker 3: and was it some time in the making.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Or yes, So this is our eighth studio album, So
- 1:45Speaker 2: we've been around a while. Yeah, we been working on
- 1:50Speaker 2: the album for a couple of years. We've had a
- 1:52Speaker 2: very productive few years since with the current lineup of
- 1:55Speaker 2: the band, which I guess with with Yan and Nicholas.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's been about six years with the finish half of
- 2:02Speaker 2: the band, and in that period we've released full length
- 2:06Speaker 2: album and EP now this new album. So this album's
- 2:10Speaker 2: actually writing this album before the last album, skin Walker,
- 2:13Speaker 2: came out on Raining Phoenix Music. So yeah, it's been
- 2:17Speaker 2: a while in the making and we definitely tried to
- 2:21Speaker 2: streamline it a little more this time. We're kind of
- 2:24Speaker 2: known for our slightly getting a bit long and overblown
- 2:26Speaker 2: at times, and we're definitely streamline things a little. Yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 2: go to our back adlog if you want twenty minute songs.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Hey, look, if it sounds good, it sounds sometimes it's
- 2:41Speaker 3: it's what's required, isn't it.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yes, follow what's needed for the song.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 2:48Speaker 2: So.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Your last album is said is called skin Walker. Tell
- 2:50Speaker 3: me about the name of that. How did you kind
- 2:52Speaker 3: of come up with that?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, I guess, like lyrically, we're not really a band
- 2:59Speaker 2: that dells into kind of medieval fantasy metal or anything
- 3:04Speaker 2: like that.
- 3:04Speaker 3: We're very completely opposite and we're all American Indian.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, well, the concept did really start with the
- 3:11Speaker 2: you know, the concept of the skim walker, But what
- 3:14Speaker 2: I took away from that was, you know, someone that
- 3:17Speaker 2: is not as they present themselves to be, or you know,
- 3:21Speaker 2: they changed their form around different people, and the skim
- 3:25Speaker 2: walker metaphor kind of just worked really well for that
- 3:27Speaker 2: because you know, I was basically using as a metaphor
- 3:30Speaker 2: for a narcissistic people in your life that are kind
- 3:32Speaker 2: of way and you know, and conduct themselves a different way.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So that ended up being a theme through the record.
- 3:40Speaker 2: And yeah, so skim Walker, I don't intentionally write lyrics
- 3:44Speaker 2: like in a concept type of way, but it tends
- 3:46Speaker 2: to end up that way. And I think it's probably
- 3:48Speaker 2: a similar thing on Obscurity Horizons, where all the lyrics
- 3:51Speaker 2: kind of tie together in a similar fashion. But the
- 3:54Speaker 2: last album is more about, you know, letting go of
- 3:58Speaker 2: narcissistic people and negative things in your life and kind
- 4:01Speaker 2: of getting past that, and this one's kind of follows
- 4:04Speaker 2: on from that theme a little bit. But all the
- 4:07Speaker 2: all the narcissists have gone already.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got to cut them off.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You just got to absolutely, Yeah, the way and the
- 4:15Speaker 3: thing with dealing with narcissists, So I got it. I
- 4:18Speaker 3: personally have been down that road and it was not fun.
- 4:21Speaker 3: But just constantly telling yourself, you know, this is only
- 4:24Speaker 3: ever going to get worse.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's hard to escape those situations and you
- 4:31Speaker 2: question your own like sanity, your own sanity and your
- 4:35Speaker 2: own thoughts. And I went through that myself, and you
- 4:39Speaker 2: know that's right. And it was COVID time as well.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Oh yeah, see that's when mine was on the tail end.
- 4:45Speaker 3: I'd cut mine off.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It started, Yeah, and it was the narcissism thing and
- 4:49Speaker 2: the isolation and kind.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Of yeah, that would have been a nightmare.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I can't even begin to imagine how that would have
- 4:55Speaker 3: been for people in that situation.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yes, us in Melbourne were locked for like, oh, you.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Guys had it so bad.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I was just actually speaking to another artist this Afternoon
- 5:04Speaker 3: is from San Diego, from late ex Grenade actually, and they, yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 3: were talking about just how bad like Weeds J had
- 5:12Speaker 3: us said, Yeah, but Melbourne had it so much worse
- 5:14Speaker 3: like I had. It was bad for me because I
- 5:16Speaker 3: live on the border of Mew southern Queensland. But and that,
- 5:19Speaker 3: you know, was very difficult. I think, you know, those
- 5:22Speaker 3: two situations, Melbourne and border living were just if you
- 5:26Speaker 3: didn't know, you don't really get how bad it was.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was a time where question now
- 5:31Speaker 2: sanity at all.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 2: So I guess that's that last album thematically, you know,
- 5:37Speaker 2: went went down that route and yeah, the skin Walker
- 5:40Speaker 2: was a metaphor for someone who changes their form anyways.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and moving through you know, out of that into
- 5:46Speaker 3: your new new phase and your new era. I guess
- 5:50Speaker 3: you know, you learn so much about yourself when you
- 5:52Speaker 3: look back and you go through that sort of situation.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Is that sort of reflected in a new album that
- 5:56Speaker 3: you've been.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Right obscure at Horizons is Look, I went through many changes,
- 6:01Speaker 2: including my use of alcohol was pretty bad by the
- 6:06Speaker 2: end of the whole COVID thing, and I've not had
- 6:09Speaker 2: a drink for three years now, and so lyrically, there
- 6:15Speaker 2: was a part of like letting go of like on
- 6:19Speaker 2: the new recon Obscure Horizons, it's actually about don't let
- 6:22Speaker 2: the negative things kind of obscure the horizons of where
- 6:25Speaker 2: you're going. Now. We're definitely some Christian band or something,
- 6:28Speaker 2: but you know, there's definitely.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Positive thinking is very underrated, like it really.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I believe you can you can express melancholy, but I
- 6:39Speaker 2: think everyone still wants to have hope even when you're
- 6:42Speaker 2: in the worst of depressions.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yes, And I'm not going to dress it up in
- 6:47Speaker 2: row like you know, metaphors of vampires and ship like that.
- 6:51Speaker 2: When I was also, it's definitely more about It's definitely
- 6:56Speaker 2: more about, like, you know, the big changes that you
- 6:59Speaker 2: make and notating things obscure your horizons essentially and moving
- 7:03Speaker 2: through things that back because you know, I want to
- 7:06Speaker 2: spend the last years of my life making records with
- 7:08Speaker 2: the Eternal and making as much creative stuff as I can.
- 7:13Speaker 2: So that's that's that's lyrically a little bit more positive,
- 7:18Speaker 2: but still explores all the bullshit that went along the way.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's very good thing about being Yeah.
- 7:26Speaker 3: The good thing is about being an artist or creative
- 7:28Speaker 3: type is when you go through the ship, is that
- 7:30Speaker 3: you've got some great material afterwards.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you do, you have good Now I've got to
- 7:35Speaker 2: like put myself with some ship for the next round.
- 7:38Speaker 3: No, no, absolutely, not just once you've been there, it's
- 7:42Speaker 3: it's all upwards, you know.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Up all exactly exactly. But yeah, it's like it's an
- 7:46Speaker 2: interesting thing. And I feel that they're my best lyrics
- 7:51Speaker 2: because obviously I think when you're I don't know, I've
- 7:54Speaker 2: been this band for twenty five years myself and the
- 7:58Speaker 2: early albums were very like. We had songs like all
- 8:00Speaker 2: Hope Lost and you know, a Cruel Misfortune and I
- 8:04Speaker 2: were really melancholic down temp by, really you know, kind
- 8:08Speaker 2: of negative. I was dwelling in depression and I didn't
- 8:13Speaker 2: know how to get out of it. But the lyrical
- 8:16Speaker 2: as you grow as a person, I would like to
- 8:18Speaker 2: think that I'm trying to. I want to like the
- 8:21Speaker 2: lyrics to show people that, you know, there's people that
- 8:24Speaker 2: feel the same way as you, but hey, we can
- 8:27Speaker 2: kind of we can pull through the melancholic things in
- 8:30Speaker 2: our life. And there's nothing wrong with reflection on your life. Melancholy.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I think it's a healthy emotion. But it's when you
- 8:39Speaker 2: when it takes you into suicidal thoughts and things. I think,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you know, maybe yeah, and I think it's cool. It's
- 8:46Speaker 2: not cool for a band to express melancholy necessarily, and hey,
- 8:49Speaker 2: there's hope at the end of it, but you know,
- 8:52Speaker 2: I'm going down and I'm sticking with it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah, No, that's any thing I would like you say.
- 8:57Speaker 3: It is healthy to obviously have that in a reflection
- 8:59Speaker 3: and and do that, but it's that ability to know
- 9:02Speaker 3: when to drag yourself out and not sick with it
- 9:04Speaker 3: because it can become, you know, a comfortable space for
- 9:07Speaker 3: a lot of people, I think too, just to you know,
- 9:09Speaker 3: be in that that.
- 9:12Speaker 2: You can dwell in it. We've all well been out
- 9:14Speaker 2: in our depression and of course that makes good music.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And I'll still always write music from a darker perspective
- 9:20Speaker 2: with the band. You know, we like dark melodic music,
- 9:23Speaker 2: but but lyrically, you know, I want to I want
- 9:27Speaker 2: to write something with some depth and surface level.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Sometimes that's fun though too, just to write the piss
- 9:34Speaker 3: take ship, you know.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I mean, of course, like you know, I've been in
- 9:38Speaker 2: fun death metal bands and things like that, of course,
- 9:40Speaker 2: you know, so there's a time and place. But with
- 9:42Speaker 2: the Eternal's that's our thing.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's awesome. So how did you come to
- 9:48Speaker 1: be half from Finland and half Aussie?
- 9:51Speaker 2: That's that's a very interesting So the band obviously was
- 9:57Speaker 2: all initially Australian, but we to a finished record label
- 10:01Speaker 2: on our first record back in two thousand and four, and.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we've.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Always been connected, you know. And the thing is no
- 10:08Speaker 2: one new us knows us here as well as in
- 10:11Speaker 2: other places.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Do you find that that's changing now, like we're not
- 10:14Speaker 3: exporting on metal, Like the scene here is a lot
- 10:17Speaker 3: healthier and we're retaining them.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It's always been harder because I find Australians love their
- 10:24Speaker 2: like more extreme stuff. So I've always found that that
- 10:29Speaker 2: the Eternals audience has been abroad. I think a little
- 10:33Speaker 2: bit more now, there's a bit more open minded thing.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I'm not saying there's anything wrong with brutal music. Don't
- 10:38Speaker 2: get me wrong, I've played it, but you know, it's
- 10:41Speaker 2: just like I always felt like we couldn't. It was
- 10:43Speaker 2: hard for us to find a place here because the
- 10:46Speaker 2: thing was always not brutal enough or whatever it was, right, Yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 2: maybe Melbourne thing. I don't know, but I think, yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 2: obviously we've got lots of great bands and we need
- 10:56Speaker 2: to embrace them more like it sucks that you have
- 10:58Speaker 2: to go overseas and then you know, slowly start to
- 11:01Speaker 2: build something.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, once they've made it the year, we then claimed
- 11:05Speaker 3: them kind of thing.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, yeah, it's interesting but really quickly
- 11:09Speaker 2: back and finished thing.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so we were we were on the label over there,
- 11:15Speaker 2: so I've been going, we've been touring over there for
- 11:16Speaker 2: many many years. And then so we have lots of
- 11:19Speaker 2: friends in Helsinki and you've Askula and a few other
- 11:22Speaker 2: places and good friends to Swallow the Sun and some
- 11:25Speaker 2: other bands. No, we ended up touring with a Morphous
- 11:29Speaker 2: in Australia in two thousand and fourteen or thirteen on
- 11:32Speaker 2: their Circle tour, but we became I'd already like met
- 11:36Speaker 2: the guys a couple times but we became friends with
- 11:39Speaker 2: Nicholas the bass player who's now our bass player, and yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 2: so we kind of and and a little bit with Yarn.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Then I went over and hung out with them in
- 11:46Speaker 2: Japan one time and befriended Yan our drama a little
- 11:49Speaker 2: bit more. And then we were going over on tour
- 11:51Speaker 2: in twenty nineteen, just before COVID and you know, we
- 11:56Speaker 2: got a text from you said, had come hang out
- 11:58Speaker 2: at the studio because we're into nerdy studio stuff. So
- 12:00Speaker 2: I was like, cool man, And so there's a photo
- 12:03Speaker 2: of the four of us from that trip. And it
- 12:05Speaker 2: just happened. When we got home, we lost our rhythm sections.
- 12:08Speaker 2: So so then I reached out to those guys in
- 12:11Speaker 2: COVID and says, you want to play on the record,
- 12:13Speaker 2: And then they just they said we want to join.
- 12:15Speaker 2: So so we stayed in the band. And believe it
- 12:19Speaker 2: or not, it's I cannot believe how well the remote like.
- 12:22Speaker 2: It's the most stable and creative lineup and the most
- 12:26Speaker 2: collaborative lineup we have. And two of the guys are
- 12:28Speaker 2: on the other side of the world.
- 12:30Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 12:30Speaker 3: That's cool, really, and there's a lot of Babel doing
- 12:32Speaker 3: that and like you say, through COVID especially that was
- 12:35Speaker 3: you know a lot of a lot of groups be
- 12:38Speaker 3: formed that way and then come out and in as
- 12:40Speaker 3: horrible time as it was in you know, produce some great.
- 12:43Speaker 1: You know bands and some great music as well.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it opened your mind so that you could work
- 12:48Speaker 2: that way. And luckily for us, we're all sound engineers. Yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 2: so we're sending each other stuff. We do do work together,
- 12:58Speaker 2: like we're together the once to twice a year, face
- 13:02Speaker 2: to face if we're two, we're working on music face
- 13:05Speaker 2: to face if we're or sometimes like I'll just go
- 13:08Speaker 2: over there for a month and we'll do some production work.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Jan and myself the drama do primarily most of the
- 13:15Speaker 2: production work. So we obscure at Horizons and recorded most
- 13:19Speaker 2: of it, and the other guys recorded some of their
- 13:21Speaker 2: parts as well. But yeah, so we mixed it here
- 13:24Speaker 2: in Melbourne. We recorded some of it over there in
- 13:26Speaker 2: hel Sinky. We did a lot of the arranging in
- 13:28Speaker 2: hel Sinky. So we're just kind of we've just got
- 13:31Speaker 2: to really like I mean, I just got off the
- 13:32Speaker 2: phone from Yard now, so you know, we're always like
- 13:35Speaker 2: in communication and working on stuff, sending each other stuff.
- 13:38Speaker 2: But we always try to do portions of it face
- 13:41Speaker 2: to face as well.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, and like you say, you know, over there,
- 13:45Speaker 3: the scene is just massive, isn't it, Like it's just
- 13:48Speaker 3: crazy any touch on before you're in Japan where Japan's
- 13:50Speaker 3: on other places that they just move for their metal.
- 13:53Speaker 1: It's so it's hardcore.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I mean the Finland things like, it's just always unique
- 13:58Speaker 2: to be over there. It's always opening how well supported
- 14:03Speaker 2: their metal bands are and they're scene is and it's.
- 14:05Speaker 1: All lifestyle like it's hard like it's generations.
- 14:10Speaker 2: It's crazy, it's in the top forty. It's normal part
- 14:13Speaker 2: of metal as much as it used to be over
- 14:16Speaker 2: there back in the early two thousands. But still like
- 14:19Speaker 2: we did a tour over there last year Eternal and
- 14:21Speaker 2: Cemmetry Skyline and they're they're like a supergroup with some
- 14:26Speaker 2: Demi Borgia and Dark Tranquility and a few other members
- 14:30Speaker 2: the Gothic Metals, and the shows were so well organized,
- 14:35Speaker 2: so well promoted. It's all sold out, the most amazing crew,
- 14:40Speaker 2: like everything was professional to the highest level, and it's
- 14:44Speaker 2: just like, yeah, it's just like you know, and and
- 14:47Speaker 2: they really even treat like the like the support band
- 14:51Speaker 2: is always treated well, that's really you know, it's a
- 14:54Speaker 2: really nice environment and it's it's kind of when I
- 14:57Speaker 2: can go out in Helsinki and I've got more friends
- 15:00Speaker 2: than I do if I go in Melbourne. I still
- 15:03Speaker 2: call Melbourn home, but that's definitely our second home, definitely
- 15:07Speaker 2: me and Rich anyway.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's cool.
- 15:10Speaker 3: That's a that's a nice story to have when you
- 15:13Speaker 3: combine the two.
- 15:14Speaker 1: So obviously I don't.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Think there's many Australian Finnish bands. I think it's a
- 15:18Speaker 2: year No.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I know there's like European metal bands that have got
- 15:21Speaker 3: like an Australian member you're in there and whatnot. But
- 15:24Speaker 3: but yeah, like that that true combination is it's pretty unique,
- 15:28Speaker 3: but it works.
- 15:29Speaker 1: It works, which is great.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I think it shows in the music as well, because
- 15:34Speaker 2: particularly on this record that those guys like including the
- 15:38Speaker 2: Drama Yard, wrote full demos, yeah, like full music and
- 15:42Speaker 2: I was the primary writer before that. But they write
- 15:44Speaker 2: from very European kind of way in the way they
- 15:47Speaker 2: arrange and use key chains and stuff and sorry, so
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know that was it definitely adds another and we
- 15:54Speaker 2: write in a different way because we're from Australia. There's
- 15:56Speaker 2: a kind of malde difference. So the combination of the
- 15:59Speaker 2: two I think does create something a little bit unique.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys are more on the four and that eight,
- 16:04Speaker 3: and they're on the five and the seven. It's always
- 16:10Speaker 3: it makes sure an odd combination. The tool who were
- 16:13Speaker 3: famous for doing that would just fu and mix it up.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's definitely like times were like at the
- 16:19Speaker 2: start where me and Richie would be scratching our head
- 16:21Speaker 2: and go, what the fuck is that? Like that doesn't
- 16:23Speaker 2: make any sense to me and those guys. You guys
- 16:26Speaker 2: do that, you know, and but now we kin'd understand
- 16:28Speaker 2: each other really well, so I understand their approach and
- 16:31Speaker 2: we understand.
- 16:32Speaker 3: It's funny to think that music you going to have
- 16:34Speaker 3: mathematics behind it, but a lot of you know a
- 16:36Speaker 3: lot of people do it some.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Very mathematical equation at times.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm mathematically retarded, Like I'm I'm a lyrical genius
- 16:46Speaker 3: when it comes to words, but mass I'm just like,
- 16:48Speaker 3: we still get it wrong.
- 16:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 16:52Speaker 3: I just think for me, it's my comprehension of why
- 16:56Speaker 3: is I just can't accept that, you know, one and
- 16:59Speaker 3: one makes two.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I need to know, But why does one and one
- 17:03Speaker 1: make too? You know?
- 17:03Speaker 3: So that's my my curious creative mindset.
- 17:06Speaker 1: So yeah, there's white thought of you're welcome, welcome to
- 17:14Speaker 1: my album concept.
- 17:15Speaker 2: There is doubting everything mathematical.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well can we believe anything we see these days?
- 17:21Speaker 3: It's that's that whole you know, Yeah, the old outage
- 17:24Speaker 3: of you know everything you know, it's just a simulation.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I am looking to becoming more and more. I think
- 17:33Speaker 3: every day there's you know, fucking matrix is glitched again,
- 17:36Speaker 3: And if you don't notice it, it won't fuck with you.
- 17:39Speaker 1: But if my attention it will fuck with you.
- 17:41Speaker 3: That that's just my theory's my sperience is just going no,
- 17:45Speaker 3: all right, it's crazy.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Just don't acknowledge it.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'll see how I am up for three more hours
- 17:50Speaker 2: of this, I'll probably think.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Actually, when I'm finished here, I'm off to go and
- 17:55Speaker 3: have a drink. It's that's my thirsty Thursday. So you're
- 17:59Speaker 3: my last And today I've been smart. I've had four today,
- 18:01Speaker 3: which has been crazy so live music and this guy.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It's very healthy as I got gigs I cover every weekend.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Coming to the Morphs shows that.
- 18:10Speaker 3: All more than likely. Yes, when it's so one of
- 18:12Speaker 3: the too days. So you guys have got so.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good thing. We need to cut.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Wednesday twenty third September is at the Croxton. That twenty
- 18:20Speaker 2: it's in Melbourne. Twenty fourth of September is at the
- 18:23Speaker 2: Trifford in Brisbane. Great at Liberty Hall in Sydney I've
- 18:28Speaker 2: never played also, Okay, that'll be interesting. And of course
- 18:32Speaker 2: the Basso and Canberra, which I think is always fun
- 18:35Speaker 2: and we played in We played there on the skim
- 18:38Speaker 2: Walker tour back in twenty twenty five, so is almost cool.
- 18:42Speaker 2: We have good time.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of bands, you know, they do the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane,
- 18:46Speaker 3: but Camebra kind of gets missed out, don't they more?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I reckon more so than like Adelaide and pers Really.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I mean it's interesting because I think, you know, we're
- 18:53Speaker 2: working with your mates touring on on this one, and
- 18:57Speaker 2: you know, and in discussions with their like and you know,
- 19:02Speaker 2: it's getting kind of harder to do some tours that
- 19:05Speaker 2: include Adelaide just for numbers coming through the door and
- 19:09Speaker 2: financial things. So I think on this run we just
- 19:12Speaker 2: talked about like you know, they're going to be here
- 19:14Speaker 2: like Campbelldre really good. Adelaide would be great, but it
- 19:19Speaker 2: just seems like sometimes a bit hit and miss from
- 19:22Speaker 2: getting the heads through the door. Yeah, yeah, which is
- 19:25Speaker 2: why hasn't from your mate's bookings, hasn't I think put
- 19:29Speaker 2: on some stuff in Canberra Adelaide that much. I mean
- 19:32Speaker 2: we went over with Swallowed the Sun, yeah in jan
- 19:35Speaker 2: and you know it's such it's hit and miss the
- 19:38Speaker 2: numbers in Adelaide at the moment.
- 19:40Speaker 3: So yeah, it's a shame because there's so many great
- 19:42Speaker 3: bands from Adelaide as well, Like there's so many.
- 19:46Speaker 2: We used to have great time going to Adelaide. We've
- 19:48Speaker 2: been going there since two thousand and four, and yeah,
- 19:50Speaker 2: I remember early two thousands, you know, hitting the stage
- 19:53Speaker 2: with you know, Virgin Black and Chalice and all these
- 19:57Speaker 2: other Adelaide doomy bands and they were bull great shows
- 20:01Speaker 2: and great times. But somewhere in the twenty ten it's
- 20:05Speaker 2: it just got a little bit more hit and miss.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So yeah, so Canberra's like, yeah, it can be overlooked.
- 20:10Speaker 2: But I've always had a good time there, good people,
- 20:15Speaker 2: good time and I think, you know, logistically Cambra works
- 20:19Speaker 2: really well. I'm really looking forward to a good show
- 20:22Speaker 2: in Sydney again. Yeah, you know, Liberty Hall sounds like
- 20:25Speaker 2: it's going to be good.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, it's a great venue as well. And Brisy
- 20:28Speaker 1: it's awesome.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we've done the trip before.
- 20:31Speaker 3: It's the one that's like a hanger, like it's got
- 20:32Speaker 3: the dome ceiling, it's got great acoustics.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I don't know if I've played there with Opeth one time,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I'm not one hundred percent sure. It was really yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: really cool, So looking forward to that. So yeah, also
- 20:43Speaker 2: you're there and Obscure Horizon comes out like just a
- 20:46Speaker 2: couple of days before that show.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Yeah. Cool. Cool, Well it's awesome.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Well, congratulations on your new album that you guys have
- 20:53Speaker 3: got coming out and the tour that you were coming up,
- 20:56Speaker 3: which is always a logistical nightmare when you think about
- 20:59Speaker 3: it too much.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yes, and we'll be hopefully having some more next year.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Yeah awesome. Yeah, that's great.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Thank you for your time for mate.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Well, well, yeah, thank you.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's always a pleasure and we always laving and chat
- 21:12Speaker 3: with you guys here at Heavy and we thank you
- 21:14Speaker 3: any time. And it's time for you got my interviews
- 21:17Speaker 3: to just say you're doing overseas ones, are you.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Now, I'm doing all Australia today, there you go, jeez,
- 21:24Speaker 2: a couple of days of Australia and then probably i'd
- 21:27Speaker 2: say some European ones after that. So yeah, just all
- 21:31Speaker 2: the way through until eleven tonight.
- 21:32Speaker 1: So oh geez. Yeah, you're committed to that's cool.
- 21:35Speaker 3: I've had to do with seven am one before, I've
- 21:38Speaker 3: had to do with midnight one before. Chrispy hasn't thrown
- 21:40Speaker 3: me at three am one yet, he goes, I just
- 21:42Speaker 3: don't know our relationship, and I'm like, well, you find
- 21:44Speaker 3: out soon.
- 21:47Speaker 2: European ones they can be at one o'clock in the morning.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Stuff boys over there to handle some of those. But
- 21:52Speaker 2: we'll see how we go.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it's always fun doing is rockstar hours. It's
- 21:55Speaker 3: literally around the clock, and then the weekend it's like
- 21:58Speaker 3: it's nice time.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So I love it.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I wouldn't in any other way, except that when you
- 22:01Speaker 3: still have to do daytime shared it sucks exactly. I
- 22:06Speaker 3: know if you got to pay the bills. But anyway,
- 22:09Speaker 3: thank you so much. It's been with you and no
- 22:12Speaker 3: doubt we will see you in the near future.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely, cheers, Thank you very much.
