- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly and Tanya rap an iHeartRadio podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Hello, everybody, we are scrubbing in.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Scrub but dumb dub a dumb whoof stunning.
- 0:18Speaker 2: We have a guest today. She is not on Dancing
- 0:21Speaker 2: with the Stars.
- 0:22Speaker 4: No, she's not.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Spoiler alerts spoiler.
- 0:28Speaker 5: But she is a star, yes, and she is one
- 0:32Speaker 5: of I literally can't believe that we're doing this interview
- 0:35Speaker 5: because I am a self proclaimed gleek.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:38Speaker 4: Same, and and she's a fellow podcast.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Door you know, she has an iHeart radio podcast and
- 0:43Speaker 1: it's called and that's what you really missed that she
- 0:45Speaker 1: also does with her best friend Kevin McHale.
- 0:48Speaker 5: Who was also in Glee. Yes, so we are very
- 0:51Speaker 5: excited to welcome her. We've been trying to have her
- 0:53Speaker 5: on the show forever. So the time is now. If
- 0:55Speaker 5: not now, when when? So the time is now. Please
- 0:59Speaker 5: welcome Donna. Yeah, Jenna, We I feel have been trying
- 1:06Speaker 5: to make this happen for.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Some time forever.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I just need my house so oh.
- 1:13Speaker 5: So like when we pitch it, because Tanya is she
- 1:15Speaker 5: is like in studio.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Only I know and I do on need my house, so.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It's special outing it took some time, but I genuinely
- 1:24Speaker 1: feel like this podcast.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Is going to be ten times better because of it.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I agree. I totally agree. Thank you, like in person.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And I appreciate you taking the time and for venturing
- 1:34Speaker 1: out of your house for us.
- 1:36Speaker 5: I love only have fellow podcasters on the show because
- 1:39Speaker 5: there's this easy camaraderie that's like very conversational and it's
- 1:44Speaker 5: not just.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you're like, oh god, what is this going to be?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Like, I find pregnancy and childbirth so because I've never
- 1:53Speaker 1: something I haven't experienced yet, so I find it like
- 1:55Speaker 1: so intriguing and interesting because I'm like, you're bopping around town, yeah,
- 2:00Speaker 1: and you're fine, Yeah, You're like I'm feeling good.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Yeah it is.
- 2:04Speaker 6: It's it's different for everybody, and it's every birth is different.
- 2:08Speaker 6: It's not like you go in for one and the
- 2:10Speaker 6: second one is going to be exactly the same.
- 2:12Speaker 3: It's definitely not.
- 2:12Speaker 6: So it's just like you just have to like figure
- 2:16Speaker 6: out what feels right and you have to like give
- 2:18Speaker 6: them the caveat that. Like I have stuff planned all
- 2:21Speaker 6: this week and next week, and I'm like, just so
- 2:24Speaker 6: you know, I'm very pregnant, So there's always a chance
- 2:28Speaker 6: that I won't show up.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Well, you know when.
- 2:30Speaker 2: You like you already you have a little girl?
- 2:33Speaker 3: How does she two and a half?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Okay, so you have done this before.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Yeah, when when you were doing it for the first time,
- 2:38Speaker 5: were you like anxious, like what were your feelings versus
- 2:42Speaker 5: this time?
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Or just like getting ready for the birth and everything.
- 2:45Speaker 6: It's actually funny because I think the less you know
- 2:48Speaker 6: the better, Like, oh, with my daughter, I was so excited.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Everything was magical.
- 2:55Speaker 6: You're like, so you can't wait, Like it was just
- 2:59Speaker 6: I felt really good. And then this pregnancy, I was
- 3:03Speaker 6: like put on bed rest in the beginning.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I couldn't leave my house for like two months.
- 3:08Speaker 6: And then I got out of bed rest, which was
- 3:11Speaker 6: like thank God, and I've been moving around. I'm just
- 3:14Speaker 6: grateful I can like move around. I think that's why
- 3:16Speaker 6: I'm like so active right now. But I'm like kind
- 3:20Speaker 6: of terrified of childbirths because I just know what postpartums like,
- 3:25Speaker 6: I know what is coming or what could.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Be, and there's too many options.
- 3:31Speaker 4: And you did you have postpartum with your first No.
- 3:34Speaker 3: It honestly wasn't.
- 3:36Speaker 6: I didn't have any kind of like postpartum pressure or
- 3:38Speaker 6: baby blues or anything like that, thankfully, but I did.
- 3:41Speaker 6: It's just like nobody tells you all the things that
- 3:44Speaker 6: like happen afterwards when your milk comes in and your
- 3:46Speaker 6: boobs get hard, and like you tell us like yeah,
- 3:50Speaker 6: like so when your milk comes in like three to
- 3:51Speaker 6: days three days after your you have the baby, like
- 3:54Speaker 6: three to five days normally.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Like your boobs get like.
- 3:57Speaker 6: So large and hard that they're like bowling ball and
- 4:00Speaker 6: it's just and then some people are like leakers, and
- 4:03Speaker 6: some people are like like I don't know other things anyway,
- 4:06Speaker 6: I'm a leaker. And so like there's just like milk
- 4:09Speaker 6: like literally coming out of me involuntarily, like I bend
- 4:12Speaker 6: over out of the shower and like there's just melk
- 4:14Speaker 6: coming out of me, and it's just like you can't
- 4:17Speaker 6: control any of it, so you just don't. And I
- 4:19Speaker 6: had to see section the first time too, so I
- 4:21Speaker 6: have like a belly band and scar, and nobody talks
- 4:25Speaker 6: about like the first pee afterwards, like terrifying, is it her?
- 4:30Speaker 3: It's it's a lot like does it hurt?
- 4:33Speaker 6: People have like epidurals, Like the epidural has worn off
- 4:36Speaker 6: and either it's like hard to peek because you've had
- 4:39Speaker 6: a catheter inside of you, or like you don't know
- 4:41Speaker 6: if you're gonna be able to pee. It takes a while.
- 4:44Speaker 6: So there's like a nurse like holding you up, being
- 4:46Speaker 6: like come.
- 4:46Speaker 7: On, you can do it, holding what hold well, like
- 4:50Speaker 7: your arm right to make sure you don't fall because
- 4:52Speaker 7: like you've just come off of anesthesia or like you know,
- 4:55Speaker 7: an epidural of like numbness.
- 4:58Speaker 3: It's crazy, it's crazy. Yeah, no one talks.
- 5:02Speaker 6: I actually like probably I've broken the seal of like
- 5:06Speaker 6: trust for other women because like nobody should know this
- 5:09Speaker 6: until afterwards.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm so glad I didn't know. Now I know.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I know because you experienced it exactly.
- 5:17Speaker 5: WHOA like you hear about things, but I haven't thought
- 5:22Speaker 5: or heard about that one.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody tells you because they don't want to freak
- 5:25Speaker 3: you out. They're like, okay, you just good luck. Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 3: have a great time.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I think it's better right not no, right, so just.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Erase, that's no more questions.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, thank you for coming in.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Thanks guys.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Do you have like a hospital, like is your hospital
- 5:46Speaker 2: backpacked or it's ready?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Oh it's ready? What's in there? It's I'm very minimal.
- 5:51Speaker 6: So it's like I brought a boppy so I could
- 5:54Speaker 6: brest feed, pajamas with a button down so that you
- 5:58Speaker 6: can breastfeed, like socks under everything else, like a phone
- 6:03Speaker 6: charger that's like a ten footer because you just don't
- 6:06Speaker 6: know where the plug's coming.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Sometimes I brought my iPad last time and that was nice.
- 6:12Speaker 6: And some pajamas and like going home out for the
- 6:14Speaker 6: baby and going home out for me and that's like
- 6:17Speaker 6: and then just some shower stuff and that's it.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Everything else they have there, like in America, Like they
- 6:24Speaker 6: have diapers for you and for the baby. They have wipes,
- 6:29Speaker 6: they have like the blankets, they have everything, so you
- 6:31Speaker 6: don't need to bring anything.
- 6:34Speaker 4: People bring like candles and rose cords.
- 6:38Speaker 6: So like if you're doing like an unmedicated birth and
- 6:42Speaker 6: you are like doing hypno birthing or something where you're
- 6:45Speaker 6: going to be like, let's turn the lights down, let's
- 6:48Speaker 6: put the.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Candles on, and let's put like a.
- 6:50Speaker 6: Playlist like that's some people need, but like I don't
- 6:54Speaker 6: think I'm gonna do that, so just keep the lights on.
- 6:57Speaker 5: Do you have like a first meal that have you
- 7:00Speaker 5: been avoiding anything this pregnancy.
- 7:02Speaker 6: To be completely honest, I did avoid sushi the first one.
- 7:06Speaker 6: I haven't eating sushi the second one. But I my
- 7:10Speaker 6: first meal I think is going to be like a
- 7:11Speaker 6: big like Italian sub because you can't eat cold cuts
- 7:18Speaker 6: so and there's like all these listeria outbreaks right now
- 7:20Speaker 6: happening and you're like stay away. So I think like
- 7:24Speaker 6: a big Italian sum from like all about the bread.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, salami, turkey and like Judo like give me.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Everything to the day.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Literally, I can't wait. We postmade it. The postmate like
- 7:42Speaker 3: shows up downstairs like I'm here with your meal.
- 7:46Speaker 8: So yeah, how is how are you feeling about having
- 7:51Speaker 8: two kids?
- 7:51Speaker 5: Like, because I feel like there's there's the one which
- 7:54Speaker 5: is like a total adjustment because it's just such a
- 7:56Speaker 5: life change, and then it's like you've done this already,
- 7:59Speaker 5: but no there's an added yeah child.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 6: To be completely honest, I'm like terrified and excited at
- 8:10Speaker 6: the same time, because people say like two is actually
- 8:15Speaker 6: like the second one is easier, Like you're more calm,
- 8:18Speaker 6: You've just been there already, you know.
- 8:20Speaker 3: What you're doing.
- 8:22Speaker 6: I'm more concerned about my firstborn because she's.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Still so young.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Right, and like very attached and we're very close, and
- 8:30Speaker 6: so I like she's excited and she knows what's coming,
- 8:35Speaker 6: but I don't think she fully knows like what's coming right, right.
- 8:40Speaker 3: So I think that transition.
- 8:42Speaker 6: I'm more concerned about her getting what she needs. And
- 8:49Speaker 6: we have a lot of help, Like we're so lucky
- 8:51Speaker 6: and my husband gets eight weeks off and so there's
- 8:54Speaker 6: like three adults to like two children, Like we're not
- 8:57Speaker 6: outnumbered yet, but I'm definitely.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I'm definitely nervous. Like I feel like people are like.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Oh yeah, like the one to do is a lot
- 9:08Speaker 6: like the first one kind of reminds me of like
- 9:10Speaker 6: a first pregnancy, Like you're on the couch, you're watching TV,
- 9:14Speaker 6: you're taking naps, like you're chilling, and then like this pregnancy,
- 9:18Speaker 6: you're like chasing a toddler.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Until four weeks before you give birth.
- 9:22Speaker 6: And so I feel like the second you know, the
- 9:26Speaker 6: first child's born and you're like laying on the couch recovering,
- 9:29Speaker 6: and everybody comes to visit and brings you snacks and
- 9:33Speaker 6: brings you gifts, and the second one they're like, oh,
- 9:35Speaker 6: you got this, and you're just like left to fend
- 9:38Speaker 6: for yourself, and so I'm like, I don't know, Like
- 9:41Speaker 6: I don't know what it's going to be like, but
- 9:43Speaker 6: I know I'm just gonna have my hands full again.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean it's like you, it's almost the same.
- 9:48Speaker 5: I feel like it's the same thing with the first
- 9:50Speaker 5: kid too, Like you can't it's like, no, don't know,
- 9:52Speaker 5: no matter what people tell you, and like how much
- 9:55Speaker 5: information you get, Yeah, there's just no way to prepare
- 9:58Speaker 5: for what I've gathered, especially with.
- 10:00Speaker 3: It is different. Every meat is different, Like you don't
- 10:02Speaker 3: know what you're gonna need or like it's just like.
- 10:05Speaker 6: You just have to go with the flow, which sounds awful.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I'm not gonna go with the flow person, I don't know.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yeah this yeah, we Yeah, that's where the flow.
- 10:19Speaker 3: She have to go with it. She is like, I know,
- 10:23Speaker 3: it's pretty nice. Yeah that Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 5: But you have a podcast with Kevin, who is your
- 10:28Speaker 5: best friend, and we've established that he is actually more
- 10:31Speaker 5: of Rebecca and you are more of a Tamia.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Yeah that type of way, that is correct. I feel
- 10:35Speaker 3: like the dynamic. Do you feel like that dynamic?
- 10:37Speaker 5: And obviously in a friendship it works because it's like
- 10:39Speaker 5: yin and yang, but I really feel like in.
- 10:42Speaker 2: The podcast world it is it also.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Adds an element of like fun and conversational aspect to it.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Totally.
- 10:50Speaker 6: There's like a learning curve, I think at first, because
- 10:53Speaker 6: like I expect so much from myself all the time.
- 10:57Speaker 6: I'm like a crazy person, and so with anybody, I
- 11:00Speaker 6: have to be like manage your expectations. They're not you,
- 11:03Speaker 6: Like you can't expect the same thing from them that
- 11:05Speaker 6: you expect from yourself, Like it's just not gonna turn
- 11:09Speaker 6: out well. I never really felt like that with Kevin
- 11:12Speaker 6: because we worked together for so long and wou lay
- 11:14Speaker 6: together that we were just like we knew how we
- 11:17Speaker 6: function Yeah, but yeah, we we vibraally well together. And
- 11:22Speaker 6: I think it's because like we're both good at different things, and.
- 11:28Speaker 3: He's like a good reminder.
- 11:29Speaker 6: For me that he's like, you just need to chill,
- 11:32Speaker 6: like it's gonna be okay.
- 11:33Speaker 3: You're like, realize you're right.
- 11:35Speaker 1: But it's also nice for people because I feel like
- 11:37Speaker 1: they can like relate to different, you know, different sides
- 11:41Speaker 1: of each of you.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. I mean our fans.
- 11:45Speaker 6: It's funny because I think they relate more to our
- 11:47Speaker 6: characters sometimes than to us, or like they conflate the two,
- 11:51Speaker 6: so it's a little different. Like, yeah, I feel like
- 11:54Speaker 6: people when they listen to you, they hear like you guys,
- 11:57Speaker 6: and they know exactly who you are off the bat,
- 11:59Speaker 6: But for us, like they kind of had to distinguish
- 12:03Speaker 6: the differences between Tina.
- 12:04Speaker 3: And Jenna and Artie and Kevin.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Right right?
- 12:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, does you guys your podcast is
- 12:09Speaker 1: basically it's a Glee rewatch podcasts. You're on season five
- 12:13Speaker 1: right now, that's right. So what happens after season six
- 12:15Speaker 1: is over?
- 12:16Speaker 3: No? I don't know. We have no idea. Let's go,
- 12:23Speaker 3: let's bring it back season one. We're definitely finishing before
- 12:26Speaker 3: our contracts up, so I don't know.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Well, I want to know what it was like before
- 12:35Speaker 5: y'all started the podcast.
- 12:36Speaker 2: How do you watched rewatched Glee at all?
- 12:39Speaker 6: Oh? I haven't, if I'm being completely honest. There's season
- 12:44Speaker 6: the rest of season five we have to do, and
- 12:46Speaker 6: then season six, which my character like came in at
- 12:48Speaker 6: the very very end.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Again, but I.
- 12:50Speaker 6: Wasn't really in that season and I didn't watch the show,
- 12:55Speaker 6: so I don't really know what happens.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Sorry, watched it with the literally the first time. Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 3: so no, we had not rewatched it, which is kind
- 13:06Speaker 3: of the reason why we were like, I guess we
- 13:09Speaker 3: could do this because we haven't seen in so long.
- 13:11Speaker 5: Did it bring up a lot of feelings because that
- 13:13Speaker 5: was such a Yeah, it brings up a lot of
- 13:18Speaker 5: feelings every week.
- 13:20Speaker 3: It's fun because it's been so long since it we
- 13:24Speaker 3: did it. You know, it's twenty fifteen.
- 13:26Speaker 6: I think we wrapped, and like there's so much there
- 13:30Speaker 6: was so much space and.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Time between it.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Now you can look back on it differently, and then
- 13:35Speaker 6: also through the lens of twenty twenty four, which is
- 13:37Speaker 6: like so different than two thousand and nine twenty fifteen.
- 13:41Speaker 6: So it's it's been It's been a lot of feelings,
- 13:45Speaker 6: a lot of fun. There's also like a lot of
- 13:47Speaker 6: time where Kevin and I will just tell like everybody
- 13:50Speaker 6: we don't remember being there.
- 13:53Speaker 3: And then on this day, which is like alarming, you know,
- 13:56Speaker 3: like I'm not watching myself do something that I have
- 13:59Speaker 3: no recollection of doing it all.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Do you think that?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Because like I feel like in the time that Glee
- 14:04Speaker 1: was airing, it was like in the height of was
- 14:08Speaker 1: there was there social media?
- 14:09Speaker 3: Then we just started Twitter.
- 14:13Speaker 6: Twitter just came to the yeah Instagram like had started
- 14:16Speaker 6: mid season three major Yeah, yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Okay, So it was like in that era of just
- 14:21Speaker 1: like you see it on your TV and that's how
- 14:23Speaker 1: you get and people are like like feening for more,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and it was.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Like, yes a lot.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Do you feel like it was like overstimulating or do
- 14:32Speaker 1: you have like trauma from that?
- 14:35Speaker 6: I mean, we definitely have trauma from that, But it's
- 14:39Speaker 6: not like it's funny like people ask about the fans.
- 14:43Speaker 6: There was such a separation, right, and so it was
- 14:47Speaker 6: like Beatlemania where the only time you get to see
- 14:50Speaker 6: somebody is in person, which was like really exciting and
- 14:55Speaker 6: also very overwhelming for both parties. Our fans are pretty great,
- 15:03Speaker 6: but in droves, Like when we were touring the world
- 15:05Speaker 6: and doing like arena tours, there's so many kids around
- 15:09Speaker 6: in the town when you're there for the weekend that
- 15:12Speaker 6: like you can't go out and shop and see the
- 15:15Speaker 6: sites without like security.
- 15:18Speaker 3: And so it was very.
- 15:22Speaker 6: It was very odd, like we just wanted to like
- 15:24Speaker 6: party and have a good time and do our jobs,
- 15:27Speaker 6: and like we couldn't really always do that.
- 15:30Speaker 3: So I think that was like it was just jarring sometimes.
- 15:36Speaker 6: But I think nowadays it's so different because now fans,
- 15:41Speaker 6: like I can't imagine Glean being on right now with
- 15:45Speaker 6: the fan base and the age that we had, because
- 15:49Speaker 6: they feel like they know you even more so because
- 15:53Speaker 6: you've opened up and let them into a part of
- 15:55Speaker 6: your life. And so there's a part of it that's
- 15:59Speaker 6: like some people, not all fans, I'm not talking about
- 16:03Speaker 6: all the fans, but.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Like felt like now must feel like they have the
- 16:08Speaker 3: right to knowing you all, to knowing all of it,
- 16:12Speaker 3: which is not true, right right, right, So I don't
- 16:17Speaker 3: know if that was the question.
- 16:19Speaker 6: I don't know where we am about there, but it
- 16:23Speaker 6: was definitely weird, and like obviously the trauma came from
- 16:25Speaker 6: like other parts of the show as well, like from.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Our losing Corey, losing Mark, losing.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Naya, Like that whole thing was a lot of trauma
- 16:34Speaker 6: and a lot of trauma because you're grieving on screen,
- 16:38Speaker 6: you're grieving in public, you're just grieving in general, and
- 16:42Speaker 6: that was like the most traumatic part. But like our
- 16:44Speaker 6: fans were pretty amazing.
- 17:01Speaker 4: But was the environment on the set?
- 17:03Speaker 3: Was it like.
- 17:06Speaker 4: What's the word I'm looking for?
- 17:08Speaker 5: I likenky door like like.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Like it was just like.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Was it like very toxic.
- 17:23Speaker 6: No I that's kind of like why we did the podcast.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Also is because Kevin and like, obviously, with a show
- 17:29Speaker 6: that's that large and the media wants so much to
- 17:35Speaker 6: for click bait to share, they'll only find the feuds,
- 17:39Speaker 6: the trauma, the the you know, the tragedy of it all.
- 17:43Speaker 3: But like, it really was.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Like so much fun and the crew was so happy
- 17:48Speaker 6: being there because like, you're not doing a drama, you're
- 17:50Speaker 6: singing songs all like, I'm sorry, it's great.
- 17:55Speaker 3: We all got along. It was easier to get along
- 17:58Speaker 3: than to not like to fight. Was so much energy.
- 18:03Speaker 6: And really generally obviously we all have our days. You
- 18:08Speaker 6: come to work, you're like want to be there, you don't,
- 18:12Speaker 6: But generally speaking, like it was a really great set
- 18:15Speaker 6: and every guest that comes on is so positive and
- 18:19Speaker 6: is so happy to talk about their experience on the
- 18:22Speaker 6: show because we were such a family and it was
- 18:25Speaker 6: such a bubble, like nobody could understand what we were
- 18:28Speaker 6: going through except for the people who.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Were there, you know, in some way.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I also felt like it was one of the
- 18:35Speaker 5: first cast especially of its time, that was diverse, that
- 18:40Speaker 5: had like.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Totally it was like the world of Gossip Girls, and
- 18:46Speaker 3: what was some of the other shows that were like
- 18:48Speaker 3: the lamizing these like rich famous, like elite kids. And
- 18:54Speaker 3: then there's us that's like the Kid, the goth girl,
- 18:59Speaker 3: the Kid and the Welchair, like the you know, the
- 19:02Speaker 3: the outcast, musical theater girl, like all of it was
- 19:06Speaker 3: the underdog. Which is why I.
- 19:08Speaker 6: Think people attached to it so deeply, was because they
- 19:11Speaker 6: felt represented and not like you were just watching something
- 19:14Speaker 6: that was like aspirational that you couldn't you know, or
- 19:17Speaker 6: even entertain, unattainable, right right, Yeah, but I.
- 19:20Speaker 5: Agree, I think it it It hit every group, and
- 19:25Speaker 5: especially in a high school environment. I actually think like
- 19:28Speaker 5: even after high school, there's still people still almost resonate
- 19:34Speaker 5: with who they were, what they like, what they were
- 19:37Speaker 5: in high school. I feel like that follows you forever.
- 19:40Speaker 5: So I feel like you had the jock, you had
- 19:42Speaker 5: the cheerleader, you had the choir girl, you had the
- 19:45Speaker 5: you know, it was like everyone had a could see
- 19:48Speaker 5: themselves in anybody, Yes, exactly.
- 19:50Speaker 2: And on top of that, it wasn't just an all
- 19:52Speaker 2: white cast. You had you had Asian, you had black,
- 19:56Speaker 2: you had every like a.
- 19:59Speaker 6: Yeah, like we the gay you know, the gay kid,
- 20:02Speaker 6: with the bully that turned out to be gay, the
- 20:05Speaker 6: you know, like a positive gay boy with a dad
- 20:09Speaker 6: who single dad, who they had a great relationship.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Like that was Ryan.
- 20:14Speaker 6: That was all right Murphy obviously, and like his goal
- 20:17Speaker 6: was to represent the unrepresented. Yeah, you know, I mean.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Such a and I will never forget I was.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I was a gleek.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Oh that was gleek.
- 20:30Speaker 5: I loved I literally, there was nothing like it. I
- 20:34Speaker 5: felt like it. It was just in the time when it.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Was the characters more or the music more. I loved everything.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I loved all of it.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But you know what's interesting is because I feel like
- 20:44Speaker 1: I associated And maybe it was because what was in
- 20:47Speaker 1: the press I associated as like a toxic.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Totally show.
- 20:52Speaker 1: There's all the stuff coming out about Leah Michelle and
- 20:54Speaker 1: how much of a bully she was and like all
- 20:57Speaker 1: of these things.
- 20:57Speaker 4: So I thought that it was.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Like, so she know how to read, she doesn't know
- 21:01Speaker 2: how to read.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I have seen this, I have witnessed this.
- 21:05Speaker 6: That was actually astonishing that that went that far.
- 21:11Speaker 4: They went in on her for a while after report,
- 21:16Speaker 4: so I was.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Like, like, what what's going on there?
- 21:21Speaker 6: And then she did the TikTok where she was like
- 21:24Speaker 6: she played into it.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And she's like, do you guys read?
- 21:26Speaker 1: Do you guys dig into that stuff like when like
- 21:29Speaker 1: if there's something out there, yeah, or do you kind
- 21:31Speaker 1: of stay away from it?
- 21:32Speaker 4: On the podcast we.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Talk about it if it needs to be talked about.
- 21:36Speaker 6: Her needs to be addressed, like Leah being able to read,
- 21:39Speaker 6: Like like you guys, she can read, but we don't.
- 21:43Speaker 6: We don't dig into that because it's like most of
- 21:45Speaker 6: them wasn't true, Like it's it's the most Kevin and
- 21:49Speaker 6: I ever got pressed because we went to Monaco and
- 21:52Speaker 6: our producer was with us, and we were just playing
- 21:54Speaker 6: around and there was paparazzi and like we were in
- 21:57Speaker 6: the ocean and our producers like, you guys come up
- 22:00Speaker 6: like holding hands and like almost kiss, and we were like, okay,
- 22:03Speaker 6: let's do it. So we came up and like put
- 22:05Speaker 6: our faces next to each other, and I swear to god.
- 22:08Speaker 6: We came back to the States and we were dating.
- 22:10Speaker 6: We were also moving in together at the time, Kevin
- 22:12Speaker 6: and I his roommates, and it was called they called
- 22:15Speaker 6: it the love Nest in US Weekly, They're like Kevin
- 22:17Speaker 6: and Chenna are moving into the love Nest.
- 22:20Speaker 3: I probably ate that articles.
- 22:22Speaker 6: I was the most famous I've ever been in that moment.
- 22:25Speaker 6: It was like Kevin and I like all over the
- 22:27Speaker 6: news because then we went to London after Paparazzi's crazy
- 22:30Speaker 6: there and we held hands every time we left the
- 22:33Speaker 6: hotewn just to like mess with them because this is
- 22:35Speaker 6: so fun.
- 22:37Speaker 3: So like we know how it's.
- 22:38Speaker 6: Done, right, see it all ran in front of it,
- 22:42Speaker 6: and we try to address it in the most positive way,
- 22:45Speaker 6: like it's not our story to tell. It's not our
- 22:47Speaker 6: story to tell. That's kind of how we feel about
- 22:48Speaker 6: the show.
- 22:50Speaker 4: But do you have a story to tell?
- 22:52Speaker 3: Like, no, I'm asking because I but like, what's the story.
- 23:02Speaker 1: With all this stuff that's happening with Grey's Anatomy, Like
- 23:04Speaker 1: I'm like, I swear all these big shows, with all
- 23:07Speaker 1: these unsolved ensemble casts, everyone's coming out being like I
- 23:10Speaker 1: have a story to tell, but I'm not ready to tell.
- 23:12Speaker 3: It right, like some of the writers from Grace. Okay, okay, No,
- 23:20Speaker 3: I don't really have a story to tell. I really don't.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I wish I did.
- 23:26Speaker 6: I'm not. I'm not that like fun No, but you
- 23:31Speaker 6: know what, there's some people who have some stories to tell.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I think right, as I'm sure there are in every series,
- 23:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 23:37Speaker 4: And I'm just waiting for that with popcorn, right, yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Right, I'm waiting for it too from our show. I'm like,
- 23:42Speaker 3: come on, let's go and bring it to the podcast. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Period here, First, did you have any like musical guests
- 23:50Speaker 5: or even I for some reason, my immediate memory goes
- 23:54Speaker 5: to Gwyneth Paltrow being on the show and this this
- 23:58Speaker 5: Celo Green.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Song, Yes forget you, Yeah, I forget you.
- 24:02Speaker 5: That's but do you have any guests that were like
- 24:06Speaker 5: musical guests or actors that you had a really great
- 24:09Speaker 5: experience with or more like a disappointing experience with.
- 24:12Speaker 6: I honestly like, I don't think I had any real
- 24:16Speaker 6: disappointing once.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Well, okay, so I was a big.
- 24:22Speaker 6: Britney fan, as we all obviously, and Brittany came on
- 24:26Speaker 6: the show and it was like now in this time
- 24:30Speaker 6: where we know what we know, she was being handled,
- 24:34Speaker 6: so you know, sadly, sadly, and now like looking in hindsight,
- 24:42Speaker 6: you're like, oh it all makes sense. It was such
- 24:45Speaker 6: a circus. Everybody had to wear like name tags.
- 24:48Speaker 3: On the crew. Why are you wearing a name tag,
- 24:50Speaker 3: like it was wild.
- 24:54Speaker 6: And it was really sad, but like I wish, I
- 24:57Speaker 6: wish she was in a better place, right and I
- 24:59Speaker 6: understand now she wasn't, And so that one like I
- 25:03Speaker 6: got to work very closely with her and was like
- 25:05Speaker 6: she wasn't really just there fully like I think she
- 25:10Speaker 6: probably would have wanted to be.
- 25:13Speaker 3: But no, every guest star.
- 25:14Speaker 6: Was literally amazing, like they were we find out they
- 25:17Speaker 6: were all fans. We find out like how happy they
- 25:19Speaker 6: were to be there, like christ and Chenna with was
- 25:21Speaker 6: one of our first ones. Yeah, like god bless, Like
- 25:25Speaker 6: Gwyneth was amazing. She's still like we keep in touch.
- 25:28Speaker 6: She's so cool. Yeah, because she married Rat the creator,
- 25:36Speaker 6: who's like still a friend of ours.
- 25:38Speaker 3: She's so cool.
- 25:40Speaker 4: She seems cool.
- 25:41Speaker 6: John Stamos like became a good friend. It was really surreal.
- 25:46Speaker 6: When they come on and you hear they're coming on,
- 25:48Speaker 6: you're like, oh, I like I wonder if they'll kind
- 25:50Speaker 6: of like keep themselves or hanging out. And Samos is
- 25:53Speaker 6: like knocking on our trailer doors like hey guys, what's
- 25:56Speaker 6: going on?
- 25:56Speaker 3: And you're like, hey, uncle Jesse, you want to hang
- 26:00Speaker 3: out with that? He's like yeah, like let's go out.
- 26:02Speaker 6: We're like great, we go to dinner, like it's so weird.
- 26:06Speaker 6: He's so lovely, but everybody was like very normal. I
- 26:09Speaker 6: wish we had worked with Sarah Jessica Closer, she worked
- 26:13Speaker 6: on like the New York Side when they went over there.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Kate Hudson too, like we got to work with her
- 26:18Speaker 6: very briefly, but like so cool, like so cool?
- 26:23Speaker 2: Did I was.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Trying to think of when when y'all did that, like
- 26:30Speaker 5: when Corey passed away and y'all because that was a lot,
- 26:33Speaker 5: like y'all filmed that around that, Yeah, because y'all have
- 26:37Speaker 5: a contract that you have to fulfill.
- 26:39Speaker 2: So what was the timeframe?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Yeah, so we just did this on the podcast.
- 26:43Speaker 6: Actually, so it was season It was between season four
- 26:48Speaker 6: and season five that he passed away in July. We
- 26:50Speaker 6: were supposed to start filming season five in the end
- 26:54Speaker 6: of July. Obviously that got postponed. We started August fifth, though,
- 27:01Speaker 6: Like he passed away in July thirteenth, I think it
- 27:04Speaker 6: was or July tenth, and we started August sixth, so
- 27:07Speaker 6: it wasn't that long. And so we did the first
- 27:11Speaker 6: two episodes that were already written. Have nothing to do
- 27:14Speaker 6: with him or his character it's not spoken of, and
- 27:18Speaker 6: then see the episode. The third episode of season five
- 27:22Speaker 6: was The Quarterback, which was Corey's episode where Finn also
- 27:25Speaker 6: passes away in the show. Now, Ryan's been on the
- 27:29Speaker 6: show before. He came on and did the first two
- 27:31Speaker 6: episodes with us of the podcast and said he probably
- 27:35Speaker 6: wouldn't have continued the show if it or really what
- 27:40Speaker 6: he said was like I wouldn't have done the episode
- 27:42Speaker 6: where we, you know, Finn passes away. We didn't really
- 27:47Speaker 6: want to do the show after that anyway, to be
- 27:49Speaker 6: completely honest, like nobody really wanted to be there during
- 27:53Speaker 6: that time.
- 27:54Speaker 3: What season was that, season five? Yeah, yeah, right, Again
- 27:59Speaker 3: my memory it's like very skewed.
- 28:02Speaker 6: And when Finn passes away on the show, we just recapped,
- 28:07Speaker 6: We just like passed that episode. We didn't recap that episode,
- 28:11Speaker 6: like Kevin and I didn't want to watch it at
- 28:12Speaker 6: all because it was literally us grieving Corey and they
- 28:17Speaker 6: were filming as graving Finn.
- 28:19Speaker 3: It was awful.
- 28:20Speaker 6: It was absolutely awful, And they gave us the option
- 28:24Speaker 6: to do it or not, like they said, not everybody
- 28:26Speaker 6: has to do this, like you don't have to be
- 28:28Speaker 6: a part of it, but everybody was doing it, and
- 28:30Speaker 6: Leo was doing it, and.
- 28:32Speaker 3: You're like, well, if she can, if she can, I
- 28:35Speaker 3: can do it.
- 28:38Speaker 6: And so we did it and it was literally awful.
- 28:42Speaker 6: I mean it was just the worst and so nobody
- 28:45Speaker 6: and then we took a two week break. The writers
- 28:47Speaker 6: had to just figure out what the rest of the
- 28:49Speaker 6: show is going to look like because the season six
- 28:52Speaker 6: and the end of the show is supposed to be
- 28:55Speaker 6: Finn and Rachel and like Ryan knew what was going
- 28:59Speaker 6: to happen and knew all like the things that were
- 29:02Speaker 6: going to pan out in that time, and so the
- 29:04Speaker 6: whole show had to be basically reworked.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And so you know, in two weeks they kind of
- 29:11Speaker 3: just veered off and we moved on and it's a
- 29:14Speaker 3: weird season. Yeah, so far. Well yeah, I.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Mean when he says like he he wouldn't have done that,
- 29:21Speaker 1: like he wouldn't have had him like his character pass away,
- 29:25Speaker 1: I feel like, I guess when you're thinking about it, it
- 29:27Speaker 1: feels like the right thing to do because you're like
- 29:29Speaker 1: paying your respects and like to you know what.
- 29:32Speaker 8: I mean, you do?
- 29:33Speaker 3: Yeah, is it just thought he was doing the right thing? Yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 3: I think everybody did. Yeah, but how else would you
- 29:40Speaker 3: do it?
- 29:40Speaker 4: I guess I.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Don't know, right, Yeah, that's the problem.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, it's.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Almost like if it does, if it's something like I
- 29:48Speaker 4: don't even know. I don't even know.
- 29:50Speaker 6: He was just the heartbeat of the show. He was
- 29:53Speaker 6: the show, the leader of our show, and so you
- 29:56Speaker 6: just go like, I don't know how we do this
- 29:59Speaker 6: without him, and we we modeled through, but I don't
- 30:01Speaker 6: know that we should have, right, Yeah. He was like
- 30:06Speaker 6: that was it, that should have been it?
- 30:09Speaker 3: Sadly, you know.
- 30:10Speaker 5: Yeah, Well, I think in hindsight you can always look
- 30:13Speaker 5: back and go like, oh maybe I could have.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Or whatever should have done this.
- 30:16Speaker 5: Yeah, But in the moment, that's such a I mean,
- 30:19Speaker 5: it's like tragedy.
- 30:20Speaker 3: It's how do you exactly you know, nobody going through that, yeah,
- 30:25Speaker 3: like nobody's in their right mind.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 6: And then you're doing it publicly with you know, millions
- 30:31Speaker 6: of people waiting to see what.
- 30:33Speaker 3: You're going to do with it. It's a lot of pressure,
- 30:36Speaker 3: so much pressure. Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 6: So, and I think Leah had a big part of
- 30:40Speaker 6: it also, was like I really want to get people
- 30:42Speaker 6: back together and do it. And she came back and
- 30:45Speaker 6: like just jumped back into the show, which was crazy, Like,
- 30:48Speaker 6: so I think that was also a big part of it.
- 30:50Speaker 6: If she had said, like I'm out, maybe things would
- 30:53Speaker 6: have been different.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but I also think that's some some people cope
- 30:57Speaker 1: in that way right of being able to just like
- 30:59Speaker 1: dive in to work, you know whatever work it is,
- 31:02Speaker 1: just like dive in and kind of like have that
- 31:03Speaker 1: be like your coping mechanism?
- 31:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so. Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Of the episodes that you remember being a part of.
- 31:28Speaker 5: Or during rewatching, have you had any where you're like
- 31:31Speaker 5: or like a memory that came back where you were like.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Dang, I wish I had gotten that song?
- 31:35Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I mean we just talked about this on
- 31:38Speaker 6: the show too. Kevin generally like if there was a
- 31:43Speaker 6: song on the script and his name wasn't in it,
- 31:45Speaker 6: or like you didn't see already singing on it, he
- 31:47Speaker 6: would like call them and be like can I sing
- 31:49Speaker 6: on this?
- 31:50Speaker 2: Really?
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yeah? Like if he really felt.
- 31:53Speaker 6: Passionate love, because he was like a big Michael fan,
- 31:56Speaker 6: Michael Jackson fan, so like if there was a Michael song,
- 31:58Speaker 6: he'd be like, hey, you guys, come on.
- 32:02Speaker 3: For me.
- 32:02Speaker 6: It wasn't like I remember there were tribute episodes we did,
- 32:07Speaker 6: like we did Billy Joel. We just did that one,
- 32:09Speaker 6: and I'm from Long Island and so is Billy, so
- 32:12Speaker 6: like we I grew up with Billy, like that was
- 32:15Speaker 6: our pride and joy of like you.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Know, Billy came from Long Island.
- 32:20Speaker 6: And I didn't sing a song in that episode or
- 32:22Speaker 6: a solo, and I was like so bitter about it
- 32:26Speaker 6: that I remember being I said to our producer Sam,
- 32:29Speaker 6: I said, I think this episode was really bad, and
- 32:33Speaker 6: then we rewatched and I was like, I'm so wrong.
- 32:36Speaker 3: I just hated the feeling.
- 32:38Speaker 6: I felt during the episode of not getting to sing
- 32:40Speaker 6: a Billy's Yeah.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Did you ever reach out and say, like I want
- 32:43Speaker 3: to be a part.
- 32:44Speaker 8: Of that now?
- 32:46Speaker 3: I didn't. I just Tina was like my character was.
- 32:54Speaker 6: We make jokes now because she was just like shut
- 32:56Speaker 6: on the whole time of the series. She has like
- 32:59Speaker 6: these shine moments and then she kind of like goes
- 33:02Speaker 6: to the background again, and so people always say like
- 33:05Speaker 6: she was just under underused and underappreciated, which is like.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I totally appreciate.
- 33:10Speaker 6: And it became like a joke in the show as well,
- 33:13Speaker 6: that like Tina poor Tina, she didn't get a so
- 33:15Speaker 6: low and so it felt like very raw for me
- 33:20Speaker 6: during that time, that like, what's wrong with me? Why
- 33:23Speaker 6: am I not talented enough? Is my character not loved enough?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Like?
- 33:26Speaker 3: What what can I do?
- 33:29Speaker 6: And so I would speak up here and there, but
- 33:32Speaker 6: I just didn't feel like I had the legs to
- 33:35Speaker 6: say what I was really feeling.
- 33:38Speaker 1: But it goes to show you it's the difference between
- 33:40Speaker 1: men and women. Men have no problem saying for what's
- 33:43Speaker 1: saying what they.
- 33:44Speaker 6: Want to because if you speak up, you're a bitch.
- 33:46Speaker 6: But a man speaks up and he's like if.
- 33:48Speaker 1: You want to seeing something, They're like, oh, she's difficult.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's totally true. Yeah, and it was a
- 33:56Speaker 3: different time back then too.
- 33:58Speaker 4: But even still, I feel like it probably still be
- 34:00Speaker 4: the same way.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah, i'd be like, excuse me, maybe not too much trouble.
- 34:05Speaker 4: I would really love.
- 34:06Speaker 6: To it's okay, worries just forget I said it?
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, go back here now gross gross, I
- 34:20Speaker 1: see yourself being on like another show like Lee.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Again, what I don't think so it would.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Look There's people who I think have done multiple musical
- 34:37Speaker 6: theater shows like Alex Newall who did Glee and played
- 34:41Speaker 6: Unique and then he went on to do Zoey's Playlist
- 34:44Speaker 6: and like, you know, all these cool musical things. For me,
- 34:47Speaker 6: it's like I think I'm putting it to rest. I mean,
- 34:50Speaker 6: ask me in a few years, and it's like, I'll
- 34:52Speaker 6: say yes to a job for sure, but it wouldn't
- 34:55Speaker 6: be my first choice.
- 34:56Speaker 2: What would be your first choice?
- 34:58Speaker 3: Oh, like a comedy, like a half hour comedy, like Friends.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Like Multi Caam, like Elementary.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I've seen it.
- 35:08Speaker 6: I don't watch it religiously, but yes, like like Modern Family,
- 35:12Speaker 6: which was like our big rival. Were so different it
- 35:16Speaker 6: didn't even matter, but we were on at the same time.
- 35:18Speaker 6: We were up for all the same Awards's fun. Yeah,
- 35:22Speaker 6: every circle was like every party thing was just us
- 35:26Speaker 6: and them, and I just would have loved to be
- 35:29Speaker 6: on their show.
- 35:31Speaker 3: We used to complain.
- 35:32Speaker 6: We were like, we get like costco crafty because there's
- 35:34Speaker 6: so many of us and there's.
- 35:35Speaker 3: So many crew members.
- 35:36Speaker 6: We'd get like cheeseballs and like eggs for lunch, and
- 35:39Speaker 6: they were I heard they were getting like sushi and we're.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Like, what the family over there getting sushi for lunch
- 35:47Speaker 3: And we're like, can I just get like a salad
- 35:49Speaker 3: bar or something, maybe some like healthy choices.
- 35:53Speaker 5: And then the news comes out of what they're making
- 35:55Speaker 5: per episode, you're like.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Like they still are fine, and they got syndicated and
- 36:04Speaker 3: they're good, and over here we're just like, please some
- 36:09Speaker 3: more cheese, please, Just kidding, I'm kidding.
- 36:16Speaker 5: So what about Broadway though? Was there any would that be?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:20Speaker 6: More than t like do you favor one or the other?
- 36:23Speaker 6: I love Broadway? Yeah, I love the stage. I would
- 36:26Speaker 6: love to go back and do it. It's hard, it's
- 36:29Speaker 6: like a totally different beast, like living in New York
- 36:32Speaker 6: doing eight shows a week, like depending on the season.
- 36:36Speaker 6: But I would definitely go back and do that over
- 36:39Speaker 6: another musical TV show, that's for sure.
- 36:44Speaker 3: I just feel like Glee completed that scratch that. Yeah,
- 36:50Speaker 3: And for musicals, like it's always so different and you're
- 36:53Speaker 3: telling the same story every night, and like that is
- 36:56Speaker 3: like such a challenge for me. And I just love
- 36:59Speaker 3: a live body and so I would definitely pick that.
- 37:02Speaker 5: I'm so fascinated buy that headspace of loving a live audience.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Nothing sound scarier.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Could you do that where you could like pick up
- 37:08Speaker 4: and like move to New York.
- 37:10Speaker 6: It'd be a lot, but if it was worth it,
- 37:13Speaker 6: and like if it was something that made sense for us,
- 37:15Speaker 6: for sure. My husband, luckily is like a normal person
- 37:19Speaker 6: with a normal job, and so he could he would
- 37:22Speaker 6: love that, like to reload work from Yeah, and you
- 37:25Speaker 6: know these days, like you can work from anywhere generally,
- 37:28Speaker 6: but with kids, it's different.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I guess like that you'd have to be like how
- 37:32Speaker 3: old are they? What school? How do you handle that?
- 37:35Speaker 4: Yeah? Until a certain point though, I feel like, yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 3: You can just move them around? Yeah, fine, Yeah, they'd
- 37:40Speaker 3: be fine.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Speaking of y'all met on him?
- 37:44Speaker 5: I know, Oh my god, which is Altonia met her fiance?
- 37:49Speaker 8: Why?
- 37:49Speaker 3: Yeah? Hinge man honestly sponsor us?
- 37:55Speaker 4: Did you ask them?
- 37:56Speaker 1: Why am I not doing any endorsements for Hinge?
- 38:00Speaker 3: I told Sam? I was like, look where they don't
- 38:02Speaker 3: need a literally walking success story.
- 38:05Speaker 4: Yeah, they're popping.
- 38:06Speaker 3: So were you on Hinge for a long time?
- 38:10Speaker 4: Two days?
- 38:10Speaker 3: She was so anti first first day?
- 38:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, first Hine day.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Isn't that crazy?
- 38:16Speaker 5: So were you just like, I'm okay, first of all,
- 38:18Speaker 5: what was your relationship?
- 38:23Speaker 3: We met like in person?
- 38:24Speaker 4: An you mean like what year did you meet in?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Twenty eighteen?
- 38:27Speaker 4: Okay?
- 38:28Speaker 3: Yeah, same year as the Americans. She just finished American.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I just finished it.
- 38:34Speaker 6: We just started watching it a rewatch rewatch.
- 38:40Speaker 1: So I just finished the series last night. I was like,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I know five years late to this, so got so
- 38:46Speaker 1: good unexpected ending. But anyways, that's not the point. The
- 38:49Speaker 1: point is I feel like Hinge was really popping off
- 38:52Speaker 1: twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.
- 38:53Speaker 3: It was like, yeah, it was like the new thing. Yeah,
- 38:56Speaker 3: there was the League, there was Hinge. I was like
- 38:59Speaker 3: Bumble coffee meats big, it was all the new ones.
- 39:02Speaker 6: Yeah, what was the one where you the girl asked
- 39:05Speaker 6: the guy hated that one?
- 39:06Speaker 4: Okay, bumble bumble, Yeah, yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 3: I think so. So we met in twenty eighteen. I
- 39:12Speaker 3: was hesitant to join Hinge because.
- 39:16Speaker 6: It wasn't that long after the show ended either, just
- 39:19Speaker 6: like throwing yourself on the internet and.
- 39:22Speaker 3: You're like date me. And luckily he was like one
- 39:27Speaker 3: of the first people that I spoke to. We hit
- 39:30Speaker 3: it off. He thought he was being catfished, like briefly,
- 39:33Speaker 3: He's like I know this girl, like hopefully she shows up.
- 39:37Speaker 3: And so we met at Emily in West Hollywood and
- 39:40Speaker 3: I showed up. So he was like, Okay, it's her
- 39:44Speaker 3: and and never like the rest was history, that was it?
- 39:48Speaker 2: What was it about him? Because I imagined that.
- 39:51Speaker 5: I also imagine you probably had a guard up because
- 39:53Speaker 5: you're in a position where you come from this massive
- 39:56Speaker 5: show and it's like.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Probably did men throwing them at you?
- 40:00Speaker 3: Oh, thank you for that. No, I did not have
- 40:02Speaker 3: men throwing my or maybe the wrong men. Yeah, men, yes, yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 6: There was definitely like options. But then at some point
- 40:11Speaker 6: it just was like, I'm not here for the Hollywood hookup,
- 40:14Speaker 6: Like I'm here for.
- 40:16Speaker 3: To meet my husband.
- 40:17Speaker 6: So when I joined Hinge, I moved back to LA
- 40:19Speaker 6: I was like, I'm here to meet my husband. And
- 40:24Speaker 6: we met up and he was just so honest and
- 40:27Speaker 6: we our conversation was so good and we just chatted
- 40:31Speaker 6: for hours and the date, like I told him, I
- 40:33Speaker 6: was like I turned into a pumpkin at ten, So
- 40:35Speaker 6: I'm going to go home after that, and then we
- 40:38Speaker 6: ended up like staying out way way after that, and
- 40:41Speaker 6: it was just one of those things You're like, I
- 40:42Speaker 6: really like this person.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I trust this person. He's very open.
- 40:46Speaker 6: It was the first time that I was like, oh,
- 40:48Speaker 6: he's not an actor in Hollywood.
- 40:50Speaker 3: That I'm meeting on Riyah, Like.
- 40:52Speaker 6: Yeah, there was something very refreshing about him that felt
- 40:58Speaker 6: different than the guys I had dated in my past
- 41:01Speaker 6: that were like not were actors, and I swore off them.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Really, yeah, what is it about it? Is it just
- 41:10Speaker 4: because the schedules are too crazy?
- 41:13Speaker 6: No, I think it's this particular breed of mail like
- 41:16Speaker 6: you and I think it's a particular thing. And I
- 41:19Speaker 6: don't mean to generalize, like male actors, there's something very
- 41:22Speaker 6: specific that they I find need and want from people attention.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, yeah, let's just name them. Who is it?
- 41:34Speaker 3: All of them?
- 41:35Speaker 5: Now?
- 41:35Speaker 6: I can see that, you know, And it just feels
- 41:38Speaker 6: like there's and then you're also just competing. It's like
- 41:42Speaker 6: a constant competition and also being like unemployed at the
- 41:47Speaker 6: same time somebody gets a job.
- 41:49Speaker 3: It just feels too close.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 6: I had some of that, like in the actors I
- 41:58Speaker 6: dated in the past, where like somebody was working more,
- 42:01Speaker 6: and especially like when I was on Glee. It's just
- 42:03Speaker 6: like it's it's a level of success that like some
- 42:07Speaker 6: people never reach in their whole lives that I'm so
- 42:10Speaker 6: lucky to have, right, And I didn't want to feel
- 42:13Speaker 6: bad about it, you know, And so I just I
- 42:16Speaker 6: didn't want to feel that like that in the future either,
- 42:19Speaker 6: Like and you like.
- 42:20Speaker 4: You had to make yourself smaller.
- 42:21Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's like being a woman and you
- 42:25Speaker 6: know you're like, I just want to be who I
- 42:27Speaker 6: am and be able.
- 42:28Speaker 3: To reach my highest potential.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:31Speaker 6: And he he just supported that from the very beginning,
- 42:35Speaker 6: and I even told him like at that point, I
- 42:37Speaker 6: was like, I think I want to take a break
- 42:38Speaker 6: from acting for a while. I don't really know what
- 42:40Speaker 6: I want to do. And he was like, great, do
- 42:42Speaker 6: whatever you want to do. And I was like, that's
- 42:43Speaker 6: a good sign.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean? It's not like you're
- 42:46Speaker 3: at the heid of your career. What do you do? Eat?
- 42:48Speaker 9: Right?
- 42:48Speaker 5: Right?
- 42:48Speaker 2: Get that in there.
- 42:50Speaker 3: He's like, whatever you want to do will make you happy, Like,
- 42:52Speaker 3: that's what makes me happy.
- 42:54Speaker 5: What is that decision like though, to go from being
- 42:57Speaker 5: like on a show like Glee and then being like
- 42:59Speaker 5: I want to take a break from this whole world.
- 43:04Speaker 6: Yeah, it's really hard because walking away from the thing
- 43:09Speaker 6: that made you who you or put you in that
- 43:13Speaker 6: position with those kind of opportunities feels like counterintuitives in
- 43:17Speaker 6: some ways. But there was a lot of time after
- 43:20Speaker 6: Glee where we all thought like, oh, strike while the
- 43:23Speaker 6: iron's hot. We're all gonna be like we're never gonna
- 43:25Speaker 6: have to audition again, and our lives are and careers
- 43:28Speaker 6: are made. And there was like a rude wake up
- 43:31Speaker 6: call when like nobody wanted us at all. And I
- 43:34Speaker 6: think there was like a moment of oversaturation from Glee
- 43:38Speaker 6: where they could only see us as those characters and
- 43:40Speaker 6: those people. So every time I walked into an audition
- 43:42Speaker 6: room after that, it was like, I can't un see
- 43:44Speaker 6: what we've been seeing for the past six years, every
- 43:46Speaker 6: day and every billboard, every bus, every you know, in
- 43:50Speaker 6: our living rooms. And it was like it was really
- 43:54Speaker 6: a rude wake up call but allowed me to find
- 43:58Speaker 6: so many other things that I love and like do
- 44:01Speaker 6: a lot of self work to detach from my worth
- 44:04Speaker 6: being attached to this show, my work, being attached to
- 44:06Speaker 6: fame and my career.
- 44:08Speaker 3: So I'm like so grateful for it, but.
- 44:13Speaker 6: I think with that work came like this detachment from
- 44:16Speaker 6: like what actually makes me happy and what can I
- 44:20Speaker 6: find in my own worth versus like this job, the
- 44:23Speaker 6: next job that I'm chasing. And so when I realized
- 44:27Speaker 6: that I could feel worthy without that I was like, Oh,
- 44:30Speaker 6: maybe I don't need to do this all the time
- 44:31Speaker 6: because it's so ruling and you're at the mercy of
- 44:35Speaker 6: so many other people. And after doing it for six years,
- 44:38Speaker 6: you're like, I just need like a break, like make
- 44:41Speaker 6: my own schedule and go out to dinner with my
- 44:43Speaker 6: husband and like have a kid and not have to
- 44:46Speaker 6: move to Atlanta for six you know, six months.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Like it's crazy.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Now.
- 44:50Speaker 1: I feel like in this industry, like in Hollywood, like
- 44:53Speaker 1: the highs are so high and the lows can be
- 44:55Speaker 1: so low, like and I feel like it's not really
- 44:58Speaker 1: you know, we see lot of drugs and things like
- 45:02Speaker 1: that in the entertainment industry, but it's like I think
- 45:05Speaker 1: it's because nobody talks about like the highs and how
- 45:09Speaker 1: high you can get.
- 45:10Speaker 4: And then when it goes away.
- 45:12Speaker 1: And like when you're alone and you're home, like how
- 45:14Speaker 1: low that low feels, you know, when you're on this
- 45:17Speaker 1: this like hamster hamster wheel and then you get off
- 45:20Speaker 1: of it, like it's a it's very very, very jarring.
- 45:22Speaker 1: And I feel like to have the self awareness too,
- 45:25Speaker 1: like in that moment for you to to pull yourself
- 45:27Speaker 1: out of that is like a testament to to who
- 45:29Speaker 1: you are, because I feel like it's really really hard
- 45:32Speaker 1: because you kind of just want.
- 45:33Speaker 3: To keep chasing the high. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 45:36Speaker 6: I mean I had my fair share of like chasing
- 45:38Speaker 6: the high and like wanting that and wanting to be
- 45:41Speaker 6: relevant and staying in it. And then like when you
- 45:44Speaker 6: actually do like get off of the hamster wheel and
- 45:46Speaker 6: stab back, you're like, WHOA, that's not normal.
- 45:49Speaker 3: It's not normal at all. Yeah, and like how do
- 45:52Speaker 3: you You can't sustain that, that's the truth. So if
- 45:54Speaker 3: you're always chasing the high, that's that's where you get
- 45:56Speaker 3: in trouble.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, well.
- 45:58Speaker 5: Yeah crazy, And I I think to be able to
- 46:01Speaker 5: go like okay, I'm putting my worth into like going
- 46:04Speaker 5: to auditions and people being like you're not it over
- 46:07Speaker 5: and over again. It is like such a it's just
- 46:09Speaker 5: not grueling a normal way for our brains to be
- 46:13Speaker 5: able to process who we are as a person because
- 46:15Speaker 5: they're basically being just told no to reject it over yeah, rejection,
- 46:20Speaker 5: and we're not created to like now it's we're also
- 46:24Speaker 5: like it's so interesting becoming a parent, Like you you realize.
- 46:28Speaker 6: The amount of learning you do and teaching you have
- 46:32Speaker 6: to do, right and so like we're learning all about
- 46:34Speaker 6: like extrinsic like reward. Everything is like here, have a
- 46:39Speaker 6: lollipop if you do something good. Here, let me praise
- 46:42Speaker 6: you when you've put this painting on the wall, and
- 46:45Speaker 6: you're like this is crazy, Like where do you find
- 46:47Speaker 6: the worth inside? Where do you find the pride of yourself?
- 46:51Speaker 6: Versus like I'm so proud of you, like teaching a
- 46:54Speaker 6: kid to go, Like you should be so proud of yourself,
- 46:58Speaker 6: you should be so happy saying I mean I don't
- 47:03Speaker 6: say I say that to my daughter all the time,
- 47:04Speaker 6: and I'm like, oh, you're great, Like of course I do,
- 47:07Speaker 6: but to have them find it within themselves versus always
- 47:12Speaker 6: searching for the external reward.
- 47:15Speaker 4: But how do you do that?
- 47:16Speaker 6: By like it starts, I mean obviously she's two and
- 47:19Speaker 6: a half, so I've only started the journey of this,
- 47:21Speaker 6: but like it's like not always praising them for things
- 47:25Speaker 6: that they do, but like having them feel accomplished in
- 47:28Speaker 6: their own right. So you say, like you should be
- 47:30Speaker 6: so proud of yourself versus I'm so proud of you
- 47:33Speaker 6: on you know, in alternating time, like you did that,
- 47:40Speaker 6: you did that yourself, not like I'm so proud of that.
- 47:43Speaker 6: You you know, you're you did so great. It's simple
- 47:46Speaker 6: and it's so but it's so powerful and it's like
- 47:50Speaker 6: for us, we always look for that. You're like when
- 47:55Speaker 6: the next click, the next, like the next, it's like
- 47:58Speaker 6: our whole world is society is like built on that now. Yeah,
- 48:02Speaker 6: and you're like, how do I how do I make
- 48:05Speaker 6: that change that for them?
- 48:07Speaker 3: Yeah? Or at least lay the foundation for that. Yeah,
- 48:10Speaker 3: how do you do it? At thirty six years old?
- 48:12Speaker 2: How do we?
- 48:14Speaker 3: You should be so proud of yourself. She's like getting
- 48:17Speaker 3: bed at night, it's so proudic.
- 48:19Speaker 2: You know, you should be so proud of yourself.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, you know what I mean.
- 48:24Speaker 2: But I know it's like, how do that?
- 48:27Speaker 8: Is such a It's like it's like reframing it, Yeah,
- 48:30Speaker 8: reframing how you are seeing you're saying the word and
- 48:34Speaker 8: feeling feeling that internally.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's impactful.
- 48:39Speaker 6: But it's true though, like so like it's just constantly
- 48:43Speaker 6: in our business in this industry, constantly seeking everybody's approval.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Is the movie good? Did I do a good job?
- 48:50Speaker 3: Do I look pretty?
- 48:52Speaker 4: Am I the box of this?
- 48:54Speaker 3: For you to hire me?
- 48:56Speaker 6: It's like where's the internal worthing from then, versus like
- 49:02Speaker 6: figuring it out and being like, I know that I
- 49:05Speaker 6: have something to offer, and if it's not, if I'm
- 49:07Speaker 6: not the role and this isn't for me, I know
- 49:11Speaker 6: that somebody else will value me somewhere else.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's hard.
- 49:16Speaker 4: It's so hard.
- 49:18Speaker 3: It's so hard. I hate this business.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Speaking of hating the business, After you have your baby,
- 49:38Speaker 1: what do you.
- 49:40Speaker 4: What do you plan on doing?
- 49:41Speaker 6: It's a good question.
- 49:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 49:45Speaker 6: I feel like my whole identity is shifted in my daughter,
- 49:48Speaker 6: and so after this baby, like who knows. I think
- 49:51Speaker 6: I have to like figure out my footing with two children. Luckily,
- 49:56Speaker 6: I've been able to like sustain financially on like little
- 50:00Speaker 6: jobs here and there, and you know, social media, which
- 50:04Speaker 6: has been like a really sadly great.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Thing for you know, all of us.
- 50:08Speaker 4: I don't think it's at all.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it is the way of the world.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I wish I could be on it a little
- 50:13Speaker 6: bit less, but like it is part of the job.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 50:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's also like if you think it's just a
- 50:19Speaker 1: different extension of like if you've got a commercial.
- 50:21Speaker 3: On tabizing exactly.
- 50:22Speaker 4: You got it on your own page.
- 50:24Speaker 3: I know I'm better. We're just like so oversaturated now,
- 50:27Speaker 3: oh yeah, and it's just like you're scrolling it and
- 50:29Speaker 3: seeing it twenty four to seven. Yeah, but yes, it
- 50:32Speaker 3: is the medium. It is the way to evolve. It's
- 50:35Speaker 3: how we have to do it right. But I don't know.
- 50:39Speaker 3: I mean, maybe i'd get back into acting.
- 50:41Speaker 6: I think I would have different a different perspective, and
- 50:47Speaker 6: I think I would be pickier in terms of like
- 50:50Speaker 6: what I take and.
- 50:52Speaker 3: What jobs I want to even.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Audition for this way, just because I can also see
- 50:57Speaker 6: now like I've sustained without it for so long, Like
- 51:00Speaker 6: I haven't worked as an actor in quite a bit
- 51:03Speaker 6: of time, and it's kind of nice. So I don't know.
- 51:08Speaker 6: I think I want to like dip my toes in
- 51:10Speaker 6: directing and producing and just being able to like in
- 51:15Speaker 6: jobs that fulfill me but also allowed me to like
- 51:17Speaker 6: kind of make my own schedule or have more control
- 51:20Speaker 6: over it.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Yeah, have y'all come up? Have y'all solidified a name
- 51:25Speaker 5: for the baby we have? What's the process of coming?
- 51:28Speaker 8: Is it?
- 51:28Speaker 10: Was?
- 51:29Speaker 3: It?
- 51:29Speaker 8: Like?
- 51:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, no, it's hard.
- 51:31Speaker 6: So with Emma, my first, our first kid, she was
- 51:35Speaker 6: pretty easy.
- 51:37Speaker 3: You know, you find out pretty early on now, like
- 51:39Speaker 3: what the the sex of the baby is, and so
- 51:41Speaker 3: we were thrilled.
- 51:43Speaker 6: We had a handful of girl names. This one like
- 51:46Speaker 6: felt to us like it meant universe.
- 51:49Speaker 3: It means universal and whole, and so we felt like
- 51:54Speaker 3: she was like completing a part of our family. So
- 51:57Speaker 3: that's why we wanted to choose that name.
- 51:59Speaker 4: I didn't know the Emma meant that, Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 3: It has a lot of names.
- 52:02Speaker 6: I mean, you live on no Well, which is my
- 52:06Speaker 6: middle name. So I was like, she gets you know,
- 52:09Speaker 6: her father's last name. So yes, this one was much harder,
- 52:16Speaker 6: and I don't know why, it just was harder.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I think we also we didn't know.
- 52:26Speaker 6: We were like, we didn't we weren't positive were gonna
- 52:28Speaker 6: have a second kid. We thought like, oh, let's start
- 52:30Speaker 6: with the first one and see. So like it wasn't
- 52:32Speaker 6: even in our minds, but we had a couple of
- 52:35Speaker 6: names and we landed. We landed on the one we
- 52:38Speaker 6: landed on. Also, it actually has like nothing to do
- 52:44Speaker 6: with the meaning at all. It was just that we
- 52:46Speaker 6: like like.
- 52:49Speaker 3: The name and could agree on it, like that's where
- 52:52Speaker 3: we got.
- 52:53Speaker 6: But we love this name, so like now it feels
- 52:56Speaker 6: right and after using it for a while, but it
- 52:58Speaker 6: wasn't like, oh, this means a whole so it's going
- 53:01Speaker 6: to be.
- 53:01Speaker 5: Like like why did you need this?
- 53:09Speaker 3: Like we liked it, it was good enough, sounds good
- 53:13Speaker 3: with the last name. Yeah right, we couldn't agree on
- 53:16Speaker 3: anything else. So here you are. No, it's it's good.
- 53:20Speaker 6: But yes, we do have a name, and we we
- 53:22Speaker 6: didn't share the first one.
- 53:24Speaker 3: We're not sharing the second one.
- 53:25Speaker 6: Like a lot of people just like throw out names
- 53:28Speaker 6: who are pregnant and just like talk about the names
- 53:31Speaker 6: that they really Yeah, I find that's very common these days.
- 53:35Speaker 6: And we found that like, once we landed on them,
- 53:39Speaker 6: we didn't want other people's opinions because we didn't want
- 53:41Speaker 6: to be swayed.
- 53:42Speaker 5: Yea.
- 53:43Speaker 6: And so you're like, you don't You don't realize until
- 53:46Speaker 6: you're looking at baby names how many people like from
- 53:48Speaker 6: your past you.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Don't like, Yeah, no, I get that.
- 53:51Speaker 3: You're like, well, I knew a person like that in school,
- 53:54Speaker 3: do you know what I mean? Middle school? By bye,
- 54:01Speaker 3: you really can't do that one. No, it reminds me
- 54:03Speaker 3: of that person. Yeah, so we.
- 54:07Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that's kind of the name game. But there's
- 54:10Speaker 6: an app also that you can use that's like a
- 54:13Speaker 6: dating app where you swipe left for all names. Yes,
- 54:17Speaker 6: and you'll swipe and swipe and swipe, and it's connected
- 54:20Speaker 6: with your partner. So if you have a match it,
- 54:22Speaker 6: I'll tell you you mad.
- 54:23Speaker 4: That is what is the name of this app?
- 54:26Speaker 3: I think it's called baby Names, but I like that.
- 54:29Speaker 9: Yeah, they got really creative with that name.
- 54:34Speaker 6: The names on that app that are crazy. Oh, like
- 54:39Speaker 6: I can't I can't even remember now. It was like
- 54:41Speaker 6: there's every name from like it's biblical, it's historical, it's
- 54:48Speaker 6: there's like the most popular and it's just really like
- 54:53Speaker 6: I think there was one that was like Stone, and
- 54:56Speaker 6: I'm like, I actually kind of like that name, but
- 54:58Speaker 6: it's crazy, like we would never a name and that
- 55:00Speaker 6: we're just not those people.
- 55:01Speaker 3: Stone.
- 55:02Speaker 4: It's strong.
- 55:04Speaker 3: It is kind of strong, a pretty strong example.
- 55:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I keep that in my pocket.
- 55:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 55:10Speaker 10: It's when they're like starting, well, thank you for coming
- 55:25Speaker 10: out of the house, getting out of the house and
- 55:27Speaker 10: coming into the studio chat with us.
- 55:29Speaker 2: We're so excited for you.
- 55:31Speaker 5: I just like I have it's so crazy, Like I
- 55:34Speaker 5: have these moments doing.
- 55:35Speaker 2: The podcast where I get to sit across from people.
- 55:37Speaker 5: That like I was just it's just so crazy. I
- 55:41Speaker 5: think back to myself moving from Louisiana to San Diego
- 55:44Speaker 5: and Glee being the show that my me and my
- 55:46Speaker 5: sister and brother in law watched when I didn't have
- 55:49Speaker 5: any friends, and it was like I was it was
- 55:51Speaker 5: just so so it's it's really amazing getting to do this,
- 55:54Speaker 5: and I've been a fan of you for so long,
- 55:56Speaker 5: so thank you for coming.
