- 0:04Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Right Time, presented by PrizePix.
- 0:08Speaker 1: My name is Beaumont E. Jones. Thanks for listening wherever
- 0:10Speaker 1: you get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:14Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:16Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:19Speaker 1: a hater. We're going to talk to Vinny Goodwill of
- 0:21Speaker 1: ESPN in a couple of minutes about the NBA season.
- 0:24Speaker 1: But first, we just got news. Jay-Z is going to
- 0:27Speaker 1: be the Super Bowl halftime at... I forget the year
- 0:33Speaker 1: 2000 was like, it was a blur to me. I
- 0:36Speaker 1: had a lot of things going on in my own life.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So I had people telling me, including Ryan, that Jay-Z
- 0:42Speaker 1: did the Dick Cheney thing. And I didn't, Know what
- 0:45Speaker 1: that meant. You weren't the only person, Ryan, by the way,
- 0:48Speaker 1: who hit me with that. And I was like, so
- 0:51Speaker 1: did he shoot his homeboy? He did do a song
- 0:52Speaker 1: where he said he shot his homeboy. He said he
- 0:55Speaker 1: shot his homeboy and ran into the night as if
- 0:57Speaker 1: it was not his homeboy. But I thought that people
- 1:01Speaker 1: would have sent me a link if that's what they
- 1:03Speaker 1: were saying Jay-Z did, not just make a joke. But anyway.
- 1:08Speaker 1: He's going to be the Super Bowl halftime at. We
- 1:11Speaker 1: all saw this coming. Right. When he decided to do
- 1:14Speaker 1: these kind of like residencies of sorts where he did
- 1:17Speaker 1: the shows in New York and did the shows in L.A.
- 1:19Speaker 1: and in Paris and in London. And then he did
- 1:24Speaker 1: Rich People Talk. It was him and Rick Rubin talk
- 1:27Speaker 1: about his music for like eight episodes. I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I ain't watch it because I don't. Doing that with
- 1:32Speaker 1: Rick Rubin in 2026 is a choice and a choice
- 1:36Speaker 1: that I personally refuse to support. So I bet he
- 1:39Speaker 1: sounds fast. And when he talks about music, he is really,
- 1:41Speaker 1: really interested. I just don't want to hear him talk
- 1:44Speaker 1: about that with Rick Rubin. Don't deal with Rick Rubin
- 1:47Speaker 1: at another time. But anyway, he's done that.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I'm assuming there's going to be an album release.
- 1:53Speaker 3: I mean, what else is there to do at this point?
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he hasn't put an album out. It'll
- 1:58Speaker 1: be 10 years once you get to next year. But
- 2:00Speaker 1: I mean, it just feels like, okay, with everything that
- 2:03Speaker 1: he's doing, that's the next part of it. But what
- 2:06Speaker 1: this is, at least seems for me at least, is
- 2:09Speaker 1: the full-on solidification of the mythology of Jay-Z. Because the
- 2:13Speaker 1: thing that Jay-Z has been heavily invested in, in a
- 2:16Speaker 1: way that no rapper ever has, is his own mythology.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Beyond simply just like a notion of braggadocio, The act
- 2:24Speaker 1: like a legitimate I don't even know. I mean, I'm
- 2:27Speaker 1: trying to find a synonym for mythology, but I can't
- 2:30Speaker 1: think of anything else that stacks up in that same way.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Like I think about it going back to the early legacy. Yeah,
- 2:37Speaker 1: but it's I guess legacy is it. I guess that's it.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Like what I what I think about is how he
- 2:43Speaker 1: was getting himself on the cover of Time magazine in
- 2:46Speaker 1: the early portion of the aughts. That's the thing that
- 2:49Speaker 1: I look back on, him in those tailored suits and
- 2:53Speaker 1: everything else, and very much so his desire to be
- 2:57Speaker 1: viewed as businessman, as a serious, legitimate businessman. And obviously,
- 3:03Speaker 1: he's pulled that off to the tune of making somewhere
- 3:05Speaker 1: around a billion dollars from what we have told about him.
- 3:09Speaker 1: he got himself into rooms and more accurately into discussions.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I think that's what he's really good at is getting
- 3:18Speaker 1: himself into his name, into upper echelon discussions. Like we
- 3:23Speaker 1: have generations of people who believe, and obviously not everyone,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but believe Jay-Z is not just the greatest rapper of
- 3:29Speaker 1: all time, but like the rap city got on TV.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It was like, Jay-Z is the greatest rapper of all time.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And she don't want to, she ain't trying to listen
- 3:35Speaker 1: to you. If you think that there's anybody else, uh,
- 3:39Speaker 1: There's like a whole, like, you know, like the word
- 3:42Speaker 1: clouds or whatever. Like there's a whole cloud with, I
- 3:46Speaker 1: would say, 10, 12, 15 people that get themselves into
- 3:50Speaker 1: that discussion. Even if you don't think they're the greatest
- 3:53Speaker 1: of all time, but like they get themselves into a
- 3:55Speaker 1: discussion or have discographies with similar highs and everything else.
- 4:00Speaker 1: That man called himself Hova and started calling himself the
- 4:03Speaker 1: greatest of all time in that retirement that he made
- 4:05Speaker 1: in 2003. And it stuck forever. It stuck, and he
- 4:09Speaker 1: kept getting to more places that then reinforced the idea
- 4:13Speaker 1: of his greatness. And let us be clear, he's a
- 4:15Speaker 1: rare sort of genius. He's one of those guys, to me,
- 4:19Speaker 1: where he is a better rapper than his catalog, and
- 4:23Speaker 1: his catalog is pretty strong. But he has just sheer talent,
- 4:27Speaker 1: or like the crazy idea that he just sits there
- 4:29Speaker 1: and comes up with this shit in his head, and
- 4:31Speaker 1: then he drop beats, and then he's got whole verses
- 4:33Speaker 1: to lay out for you. Like, he's full-on genius when
- 4:36Speaker 1: it comes to making this music. And very few people
- 4:40Speaker 1: that have been like genius when it comes to making
- 4:42Speaker 1: the music have also had a decidedly unartistic view of
- 4:48Speaker 1: the business around those things. While then also having an
- 4:53Speaker 1: incredible inclination for building the mythos that surrounds it and
- 4:58Speaker 1: taking that, not just from where we were talking about
- 5:01Speaker 1: him as a rapper, taking it to the businessman place
- 5:04Speaker 1: like we talked about. And now, I mean, he's a
- 5:08Speaker 1: Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, right? They put him
- 5:09Speaker 1: into that one. And look, the thing about the Rock
- 5:11Speaker 1: and Roll Hall of Fame is when it comes to rappers,
- 5:14Speaker 1: or really when it comes to black people in general,
- 5:16Speaker 1: that has a lot to do with how you talk
- 5:18Speaker 1: about yourself. There are plenty of white analogs to call
- 5:22Speaker 1: it Scarface that are in the Rock and Roll Hall
- 5:24Speaker 1: of Fame. And Scarface is never going to wind up
- 5:26Speaker 1: being there. Like Jay talked himself into the upper echelon
- 5:31Speaker 1: also from the rock press, right? All these places. And
- 5:36Speaker 1: now he had a Super Bowl halftime act. And the
- 5:40Speaker 1: part of him being the Super Bowl halftime act that
- 5:42Speaker 1: really got me was after I started getting these Dick
- 5:46Speaker 1: Cheney texts that I didn't understand and that Ryan had
- 5:49Speaker 1: to explain to me as though he wasn't the one
- 5:52Speaker 1: that was 10 years old when that happened. That's a
- 5:58Speaker 1: little bit of a humbling situation right there. So from there,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I went and Googled it. And it took me to
- 6:07Speaker 1: a really effusively complimentary write-up about Jay-Z and the fact
- 6:13Speaker 1: that he was going to be the Super Bowl act.
- 6:16Speaker 1: And it discussed Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber as being
- 6:22Speaker 1: less compelling acts. And that's an interesting discussion that we
- 6:26Speaker 1: could kind of sort of get back to. Like, I
- 6:29Speaker 1: think Justin Bieber is a bigger act than Jay-Z is.
- 6:32Speaker 1: I guess you could argue Miley Cyrus is, but I
- 6:35Speaker 1: think Justin Bieber has a broader appeal than Miley Cyrus does, right? So, like,
- 6:39Speaker 1: Justin Bieber to me, I think, is actually a more
- 6:41Speaker 1: compelling act for this particular context. But this article was
- 6:45Speaker 1: making that point. Okay. That was in the New York
- 6:49Speaker 1: Post article. The New York Post could not stop gushing
- 6:54Speaker 1: about Jay-Z being the Super Bowl halftime act. And what
- 6:58Speaker 1: a world we live in where that publication is happy
- 7:03Speaker 1: to tell you that Jay-Z is going to be the
- 7:06Speaker 1: Super Bowl halftime act. Ryan, that's what I'm saying. He's
- 7:10Speaker 1: talked himself into some different spaces.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it is really fascinating to see, again, someone who retired.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Retired nearly 25 years ago.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 1: But even, but just, just the idea though, like to me,
- 7:22Speaker 1: and this is where I think it'll, it gets kind
- 7:24Speaker 1: of interesting. I have seen Jay-Z live in a couple
- 7:28Speaker 1: of different settings. It's been a while, but I saw
- 7:32Speaker 1: him on that 2013 tour with Justin Timberlake, the legends
- 7:36Speaker 1: of summer tour. And I, he's done this a few
- 7:41Speaker 1: times where he had attached himself on tour to bigger
- 7:46Speaker 1: acts than he, who could sell bigger venues than he,
- 7:50Speaker 1: his wife being a great example. Timberlake is an example.
- 7:53Speaker 1: If we're being honest, um, that dude that's in prison
- 7:57Speaker 1: right now, when he did that tour with him.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Oh, we also have the, uh, you know, Kanye West.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yes, he did. But I'll say this, that's another one, right?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Like the Washington throne tour, like all of these, uh,
- 8:07Speaker 1: Those were all acts that were bigger than him. And
- 8:11Speaker 1: to be fair, most people were bigger than those people.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But what got me about the Jay-Z sets was I
- 8:17Speaker 1: found that he did, like on the Timberlake tour, he
- 8:18Speaker 1: did like a real Jay-Z set.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Like, you know, he.
- 8:21Speaker 1: He does that damn Young Forever song that stinks. It
- 8:25Speaker 1: was a big hit for him, but it's Cheeks. He
- 8:28Speaker 1: likes to do that. But otherwise, I'm like, yo, this
- 8:29Speaker 1: is like a legit Jay-Z set. And you know what
- 8:32Speaker 1: happens when the Jay-Z's all start playing at the Justin
- 8:34Speaker 1: Timberlake show? Don't nobody know the words, man. They don't, right?
- 8:42Speaker 1: I think that he indexes very, very, very, very, very
- 8:46Speaker 1: strongly with the people who rock with him, right? So
- 8:48Speaker 1: like when he does a show at Yankee Stadium, that's
- 8:50Speaker 1: going to be however many tens of thousands of people
- 8:52Speaker 1: that wouldn't be anywhere else in the world. But I'm
- 8:55Speaker 1: not sure you could just start playing Jay-Z songs just everywhere.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And everybody knows the words, you know, I will be
- 9:04Speaker 1: very interested to see how when it happens, his set
- 9:08Speaker 1: is received and the songs he plays and the way
- 9:10Speaker 1: he goes about it and everything else. Just because it's
- 9:14Speaker 1: not to say Jay-Z isn't a big deal. Whether he
- 9:19Speaker 1: is like his music, he is a figure as a notion,
- 9:23Speaker 1: as an idea, as an archetype. He's absolutely Super Bowl big.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The median Super Bowl viewer knowing the songs? I don't know.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Depending on what songs he picks, right? I'll know them all,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but the rest of them, eh, you know, fair question.
- 9:39Speaker 1: The other thing I give him credit for, and I've
- 9:41Speaker 1: talked about this in the past, but I think it's
- 9:42Speaker 1: important to give him credit for is this. If any
- 9:45Speaker 1: of us who were here when it first got started
- 9:47Speaker 1: with Jay-Z, he a little too cool, right? He was
- 9:51Speaker 1: not a great live performer as the time has gone on.
- 9:55Speaker 1: If nothing else, he's figured out how to put on
- 9:57Speaker 1: a live show. But the idea. that he could ever
- 10:00Speaker 1: be capable of filling up a show the magnitude of
- 10:04Speaker 1: the Super Bowl? Hey, man, that's the result of a
- 10:08Speaker 1: lot of hard work. And honestly, I would say a
- 10:10Speaker 1: dedication he didn't necessarily have to have after he had
- 10:14Speaker 1: become as big as he did. Like a lot of
- 10:16Speaker 1: that is coming post-2003. This whole section of his career
- 10:19Speaker 1: that he never actually had to do if he didn't
- 10:21Speaker 1: want to. He's got himself to that point. He gets
- 10:24Speaker 1: all the credit in the world. So think about all
- 10:27Speaker 1: the things that happen that are hard to believe. Jay-Z,
- 10:29Speaker 1: a good enough live performer to do the Super Bowl.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Jay-Z getting all the love from the New York Post, right? Jay-Z,
- 10:37Speaker 1: by the way, still rapping. That one's a little surprising.
- 10:40Speaker 3: How old is he now?
- 10:41Speaker 1: Jay-Z is 56. He'll be 57 on December 4th, if
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken. 57. Whether you like him or not,
- 10:56Speaker 1: it is quite the amazing American life he has managed
- 11:00Speaker 1: to pull off. Like, good for you. I hope that
- 11:05Speaker 1: show is good. I think it will be. It'll be
- 11:07Speaker 1: all right. All right, we are back. NBA season starts
- 11:11Speaker 1: this week. Vinny Goodwill, everybody's favorite New York Knicks correspondent
- 11:16Speaker 1: for ESPN. They love you yet, man. They should be happy.
- 11:19Speaker 4: No, they don't.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Hey, man, look, I'm jealous. You're going to be in
- 11:22Speaker 1: the building, Madison Square Garden, when the banner goes up.
- 11:24Speaker 1: People are going to be willing to give kidneys to
- 11:26Speaker 1: be there, and you get the opportunity to be there.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Whoop-de-doo.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Come on, man. This is historic.
- 11:33Speaker 5: They won the ring already. The banner going up, that's cool.
- 11:37Speaker 5: I'm not big on ring nights as a whole. You
- 11:41Speaker 5: got the trophy. We done spent the whole summer doing
- 11:44Speaker 5: Nixon 5.
- 11:44Speaker 1: No, I don't know.
- 11:45Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 11:46Speaker 1: I feel much about those things like I feel about
- 11:50Speaker 1: when I am at weddings. There's something to be said
- 11:52Speaker 1: about being somewhere and everybody's really happy. I like weddings.
- 11:58Speaker 1: This is going to be like a vow renewal of sorts.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Everybody's going to be really, really happy. You're going to
- 12:04Speaker 1: see some people crying. They're going to raise that banner up.
- 12:07Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Good for them.
- 12:09Speaker 4: What are they crying for?
- 12:11Speaker 1: Because they never thought they'd see the day.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Do some push-ups or something. Am I the Grinch?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yes, you're the Grinch.
- 12:19Speaker 4: I am fascinated by the night as a whole, what's
- 12:21Speaker 4: going to happen. You know what I mean? Like the
- 12:23Speaker 4: game itself. But I don't know, man. There's thoughts that
- 12:27Speaker 4: I will explain to you off the air.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Okay, but also I think part of it is you
- 12:31Speaker 1: just haven't lived here long enough. And this is what
- 12:32Speaker 1: I mean by that, making faces and shit. You haven't
- 12:35Speaker 1: lived here long enough in the sense that this is
- 12:36Speaker 1: my 10th year living here. It'll be a full decade
- 12:40Speaker 1: on July the 1st, I want to say, 2027. I
- 12:42Speaker 1: got here in 2017. Crazy, right?
- 12:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:47Speaker 1: But once you've lived it, this is the first time
- 12:49Speaker 1: I've lived somewhere to like really, really be part of
- 12:52Speaker 1: the fabric in a place that I wouldn't have an
- 12:53Speaker 1: attachment otherwise. Like I lived in North Carolina for 10
- 12:55Speaker 1: years and I was into Carolina, but I went to Carolina.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Like I had a I had a firsthand thing. But
- 13:00Speaker 1: like when you hear and you've been here for this
- 13:03Speaker 1: long and you see what happens, you want the local
- 13:05Speaker 1: team to win because it makes where you live happier. Right.
- 13:09Speaker 1: This summer was cracking around here in large part because
- 13:13Speaker 1: the Knicks won. And so everybody wins living here when
- 13:17Speaker 1: the Knicks win. If you live here long enough to
- 13:20Speaker 1: feel some sort of attachment to it. Now, I understand you, Detroit,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you can't allow yourself to feel these things, but you
- 13:26Speaker 1: stick around here long enough. It'll be good for you
- 13:28Speaker 1: when the Knicks do good.
- 13:30Speaker 5: I mean, look, first time in 53 years, right? Like
- 13:32Speaker 5: good form. Like I see Stephen A all the time.
- 13:36Speaker 4: They still happy.
- 13:37Speaker 5: All the producers who work for ESPN behind the scenes.
- 13:40Speaker 1: They're thrilled. My man Russ is ecstatic.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Russ gets on my last.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I love Russ. I love Russ.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I love Russ to death. No, but I think the people,
- 13:48Speaker 4: there's an energy when the team is.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:51Speaker 4: There's an energy.
- 13:52Speaker 5: But there's a better energy when the team isn't quite great.
- 13:58Speaker 1: No, no, no, no.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Living in Chicago, there was this angst when I lived there.
- 14:03Speaker 5: That Derrick Rose year with Jimmy Butler, they were trying
- 14:05Speaker 5: to figure it out. There was like this general angst. Like, man,
- 14:09Speaker 5: we got to do it or else, but we know
- 14:11Speaker 5: we can't do it because that dude is.
- 14:12Speaker 4: Standing at the end of the yellow brick road. I
- 14:14Speaker 4: like that sort of uncertain energy.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Well, of course you like that uncertain energy if you
- 14:19Speaker 1: are a person from Detroit and you're talking about the Bulls.
- 14:22Speaker 4: But I don't hate those bulls.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I hated Scottie Pippen. I hated Michael Jordan.
- 14:28Speaker 4: I didn't hate Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose.
- 14:30Speaker 1: There's nothing in that. How about this? This is why
- 14:33Speaker 1: I think this ring night is something that you should
- 14:35Speaker 1: be like, yo, I was there for, and everybody that's
- 14:37Speaker 1: there for needs to appreciate and maximize the moment. Because
- 14:40Speaker 1: they ain't never going to be this happy ever again.
- 14:42Speaker 1: That's a great point. Especially not this season. Because your
- 14:45Speaker 1: boy Dolan is messing with the happy already off the top.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And that's what, to me, makes this next season interesting
- 14:51Speaker 1: is that It's harder than ever for a team to
- 14:53Speaker 1: win another championship just by the nature of it. And
- 14:58Speaker 1: the vibes were great as long as people didn't realize
- 15:01Speaker 1: that Dolan was still there. And even after they won
- 15:04Speaker 1: the championship and Dolan apologized when he picked up the trophy,
- 15:08Speaker 1: the vibes were good. And then the parade happened and
- 15:11Speaker 1: Dolan messed it up. Oh, well, Dolan messed it up
- 15:14Speaker 1: first because he had Trump show up to that game.
- 15:16Speaker 1: But they won the championship and everything was okay. And
- 15:19Speaker 1: then he got caught popping shit with the mayor because
- 15:21Speaker 1: the mayor gave a better speech than him. Yes. And
- 15:24Speaker 1: so then that happened. And now Dolan... With a decision
- 15:27Speaker 1: that other people understand, we're not going into the second apron,
- 15:30Speaker 1: which to me is not even necessarily, if I was
- 15:33Speaker 1: in that position, it's not simply about the money that
- 15:35Speaker 1: it costs, but the diminished flexibility that you have because
- 15:38Speaker 1: of the rules to improve your team. But the long
- 15:40Speaker 1: and the short is, Carl Anthony Towns believes it's time
- 15:44Speaker 1: for him to get his money, but I firmly understand
- 15:47Speaker 1: why the Knicks and Carl Anthony Towns have a disagreement
- 15:50Speaker 1: on that money. As I've heard you say on TV,
- 15:52Speaker 1: like the idea of him taking a haircut. They're not
- 15:55Speaker 1: asking Carl to take a haircut. Carl qualifies for his five-year,
- 15:59Speaker 1: $ 276 million contract. The haircut is not below that number.
- 16:06Speaker 1: That's just the most they allowed to give him. They
- 16:09Speaker 1: ain't got to give you no $ 70 million for a
- 16:11Speaker 1: contract that runs out when you're 33. But everybody in
- 16:14Speaker 1: this league believes that if I qualified for that number,
- 16:18Speaker 1: you owe me that number.
- 16:20Speaker 5: It's not even that. Let's just break it down. to
- 16:23Speaker 5: the numbers that he's making this year and next year.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Right. Because he's in the 60 range now, right?
- 16:27Speaker 5: He's making 60 next year. He's making like 55, I
- 16:30Speaker 5: think 57 or something like that. So you're asking him
- 16:33Speaker 5: to take a pay cut from what he's making now,
- 16:35Speaker 5: not a pay cut from what he could make. You're
- 16:38Speaker 5: asking him to take less after accomplishing more.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You're right.
- 16:41Speaker 5: That's the problem that I think some people would have.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I'm not speaking for Carl, but you're going to ask
- 16:47Speaker 5: me to take a pay cut?
- 16:49Speaker 4: Not a pay cut from 276. That's fair.
- 16:51Speaker 1: A pay cut from now. Now that, when you put
- 16:54Speaker 1: it like that, that's fair. But the flip side of it.
- 16:57Speaker 1: This is Adam Silver's NBA.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Yes, it is.
- 16:59Speaker 1: This is the NBA he wanted. And I would argue
- 17:03Speaker 1: this is the flip side of Jalen Brunson taking less
- 17:06Speaker 1: that people aren't accounting for, which is that was never
- 17:09Speaker 1: going to happen forever. So as of right now, they're operating.
- 17:13Speaker 1: This is not it's not the same as Steph signing
- 17:16Speaker 1: the bad ankle contract. Right. But at some point, that
- 17:19Speaker 1: was going to have to correct itself.
- 17:20Speaker 4: The bill comes due.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Everybody else was able to eat off the fact that
- 17:23Speaker 1: he took the deal that he did, which was not
- 17:25Speaker 1: taking nearly as much less. It's not as the way
- 17:30Speaker 1: that it's being presented.
- 17:31Speaker 4: He took his max at the time.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:33Speaker 4: He did not take a dollar less the day he signed.
- 17:37Speaker 1: He just signed earlier than he had to.
- 17:39Speaker 5: He just signed earlier than he had to, and it's
- 17:41Speaker 5: the framing of that.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Sounds good. But guess what? He ain't taking less next year.
- 17:46Speaker 4: You know who else ain't taking less?
- 17:48Speaker 5: OG Ananobi, who LeBron says he was the finals MVP
- 17:51Speaker 5: last year. Ain't that a nice little sprinkle of some,
- 17:54Speaker 5: nice little sprinkle of that?
- 17:55Speaker 1: A little Discord.
- 17:56Speaker 5: Just a little throw something in the locker room. You're
- 17:59Speaker 5: right about the Adam Silver part. And I understand it
- 18:02Speaker 5: from just this. You got ESPN. You got NBC. You
- 18:08Speaker 5: got Amazon. Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 4: You got all this television inventory.
- 18:11Speaker 5: It makes sense to have more good teams because you
- 18:14Speaker 5: have more hours to fill as opposed to having to juggernaut.
- 18:17Speaker 5: The problem is the NBA we grew up watching, the
- 18:21Speaker 5: NBA that was created off the.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Connective tissue, says that, oh, no, these one-offs don't happen.
- 18:27Speaker 5: There is somebody you have to chase.
- 18:29Speaker 4: There is somebody who is.
- 18:31Speaker 5: At the top, and they have mechanisms to stay there.
- 18:35Speaker 5: The problem with the Knicks is if the Knicks are
- 18:38Speaker 5: crying poor, What can any other team say?
- 18:41Speaker 4: Oklahoma City's saying that.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:43Speaker 5: We accept that Sam Pricey's working with certain mechanisms in
- 18:46Speaker 5: Oklahoma City. The New York Knicks are the number one
- 18:48Speaker 5: revenue team in the league.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Right?
- 18:51Speaker 5: And James Dolan, the days after they win the title,
- 18:54Speaker 5: you're supposed to be basking in it, and you're saying,
- 18:56Speaker 5: we ain't going in the second apron.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Bruh, just let the vibes go.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Well, I will also bring this point up, and I
- 19:02Speaker 1: think this is something worth considering. One thing about Jim
- 19:06Speaker 1: Dolan is, Jim Dolan has opinions about the basketball world.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean, his opinions about the basketball led to them
- 19:12Speaker 1: replacing a coach. What if he just don't really rock
- 19:16Speaker 1: with that dude like that? Maybe. It's on the board.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Anything's on the board. But he won a championship for you.
- 19:23Speaker 1: He did. He did.
- 19:24Speaker 4: And you ain't won, Jack. Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 1: But I think this is just where this all gets
- 19:30Speaker 1: really interesting. And we'll see how this team manages this
- 19:34Speaker 1: and navigates it. Because, look, you're around this team more than, obviously,
- 19:37Speaker 1: more than I am. But you've been around this team
- 19:39Speaker 1: a lot. You hear some discussion of this publicly. I'm
- 19:44Speaker 1: not the first person to say this, but you just
- 19:46Speaker 1: don't hear it really loudly. The vibes were not strong.
- 19:50Speaker 1: until the vibes were strong.
- 19:51Speaker 4: No, they weren't.
- 19:54Speaker 1: They weren't.
- 19:55Speaker 4: They weren't.
- 19:55Speaker 1: People start early on the post-mortem columns. Before they turned
- 19:58Speaker 1: that shit around, people had to start their whole thing
- 20:01Speaker 1: over because the vibes were not strong.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Think about it like this, Bowen. You know this.
- 20:07Speaker 5: There's not many three-seeds that win NBA titles. The Knicks
- 20:11Speaker 5: were a three-seed. So there was a healthy amount of
- 20:14Speaker 5: skepticism in an Eastern Conference that was not that strong.
- 20:18Speaker 5: Like the Boston Celtics were the two-seed. Great regular season story,
- 20:21Speaker 5: but nobody's scared of the Celtics. You could talk about Detroit,
- 20:24Speaker 5: but nobody's scared of Detroit because Detroit was so young
- 20:27Speaker 5: and had glaring flaws, and the Knicks finished firmly behind them.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Josh Hart, I think with maybe three weeks left in
- 20:34Speaker 5: the regular season, after they lost three in a row,
- 20:36Speaker 5: was saying, man, we got to fix this.
- 20:38Speaker 4: This is a must-win game. When you hear about somebody saying.
- 20:41Speaker 1: A must-win game in March.
- 20:44Speaker 5: The margins are so thin. So to assume that we're
- 20:48Speaker 5: going to be right back there or to assume that
- 20:50Speaker 5: maybe it does happen, where you figure out something in
- 20:53Speaker 5: the playoffs and that sweat equity carries over to the
- 20:56Speaker 5: regular season, there's no guarantee that those things happen.
- 20:59Speaker 4: And the East has gotten so much– better.
- 21:01Speaker 1: The thing you gotta hope for if you to knicks
- 21:04Speaker 1: is that they champions now you know what i mean
- 21:07Speaker 1: like like the idea that okay they won a championship
- 21:09Speaker 1: together that steals your guys that makes that makes i
- 21:13Speaker 1: used to be like so if you lose a game
- 21:15Speaker 1: seven to win a game seven is it really that
- 21:17Speaker 1: much a difference and the answer is yes right if
- 21:21Speaker 1: they can steal themselves then you know but it to
- 21:26Speaker 1: me How they deal with each other is going to
- 21:29Speaker 1: be the story. How the vibes maintain themselves. How Carl
- 21:36Speaker 1: Anthony Towns, who I contend for that postseason minus the
- 21:42Speaker 1: last two games, was their best player. but he is
- 21:45Speaker 1: not their number one guy, right? And now he's not
- 21:48Speaker 1: getting his money. Now, they said they're not giving him
- 21:51Speaker 1: his money right now, and they told everybody, no money
- 21:52Speaker 1: for nobody. We ain't going to talk about none of
- 21:54Speaker 1: that shit until later. Now, wait until we get home, right?
- 21:56Speaker 1: They all said that, and now everybody got to ride
- 21:58Speaker 1: along in the car like this. Can't nobody talk about it.
- 22:03Speaker 1: The pressure's going. These people ain't just going to be
- 22:04Speaker 1: happy with winning one. That's not how it works.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yeah, these people. No, but no. No, yes, they are.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. Knicks come out here and
- 22:12Speaker 1: start the season five and seven. It's going to sound
- 22:15Speaker 1: like that championship never happened. Really?
- 22:18Speaker 4: You think the Knicks fans are going to forget?
- 22:20Speaker 1: They're not going to forget. I mean, I'm not saying
- 22:23Speaker 1: they're going to forget the championship. I'm saying the championship
- 22:26Speaker 1: is not a justification for falling off.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Here's the thing.
- 22:30Speaker 5: I don't think they're going to fall off. I think
- 22:32Speaker 5: what you said about winning the championship is going to
- 22:34Speaker 5: hold a lot of water. They're going to walk into
- 22:37Speaker 5: buildings and psych the other team out before the game starts.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Period. I see it. You see it happen.
- 22:43Speaker 5: I would say with the exception of like a few
- 22:46Speaker 5: notable exceptions, you win 10 games a year just off
- 22:49Speaker 5: of psyching them out. Like they have lost the game
- 22:52Speaker 5: before they even see you walk in the building. They
- 22:55Speaker 5: look across the way and they see you're the champions
- 22:56Speaker 5: and they're psyched out. The problem becomes what if Toronto.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Gets it together early? What if Philly gets it together early?
- 23:04Speaker 5: What if the Miami Heat, a team we don't talk about,
- 23:06Speaker 5: for whatever reason, Giannis has become like persona non grata,
- 23:10Speaker 5: even though last year was the first year in the
- 23:12Speaker 5: last seven. He didn't finish in the top five in MVP.
- 23:15Speaker 5: And then you put him over there with Eric Spoelstra
- 23:17Speaker 5: and everything he can do. The competition, I think, is
- 23:20Speaker 5: going to be less internal than more external.
- 23:22Speaker 1: All right, now, Vinny, you say that the Knicks ain't
- 23:24Speaker 1: going to fall off. But I saw you on television
- 23:27Speaker 1: say that you got the Sixers winning the East, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: I don't know how the Knicks not going to fall
- 23:31Speaker 1: off while also not winning the East.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I mean, look at it like this.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Hold on. Do you really think the Sixers are going
- 23:37Speaker 1: to win the East, by the way?
- 23:38Speaker 5: Oh! You asked me this question on October 15th, and
- 23:41Speaker 5: you expect me to have conviction in my beliefs?
- 23:43Speaker 1: I didn't expect you to have conviction, but I didn't
- 23:45Speaker 1: know you even been thinking at all. No.
- 23:48Speaker 5: If you ask me at 11 o'clock, I got a
- 23:50Speaker 5: different answer. You ask me at 1230, I'm going to
- 23:52Speaker 5: have a different answer. There's five teams that can do this.
- 23:55Speaker 5: Maybe the Knicks can do this. I'm not writing them off.
- 23:57Speaker 5: I know Knicks fans are going to hear, oh, yeah,
- 23:59Speaker 5: they're going to go with.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Vinny Hayton again.
- 24:00Speaker 1: No.
- 24:01Speaker 4: You can do it again.
- 24:02Speaker 1: But so can these other teams.
- 24:04Speaker 4: It's like spinning the wheel and the price is right.
- 24:07Speaker 4: You don't know.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I'm just doing that for the people. Go ahead.
- 24:11Speaker 4: I'm not. No, no.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Don't say no. Just keep talking.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 24:15Speaker 1: See?
- 24:15Speaker 4: Just keep talking.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Let's keep talking. I did that. We tried a new
- 24:19Speaker 1: camera angle. Let's do that for the people. Keep talking, baby.
- 24:22Speaker 1: You got it.
- 24:23Speaker 5: Look, we could be showing up at Kenneth Babyface Edmonds
- 24:26Speaker 5: Highway for the NBA Finals with the Pacers.
- 24:29Speaker 4: We don't know. Like, I'm not going to say, I'm
- 24:31Speaker 4: the expert. The Knicks are going to not be there.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Okay, I hear you. But I saw you on TV
- 24:37Speaker 1: say the 76ers.
- 24:38Speaker 5: I did pick the 76ers. The only reason why is
- 24:41Speaker 5: because I look at the Knicks last year. They had
- 24:45Speaker 5: to get to the Finals, right? They were the one team.
- 24:49Speaker 5: Nobody had to win, but the Knicks had to get
- 24:51Speaker 5: to the NBA Finals. If there's a team this year
- 24:54Speaker 5: that has to get to the finals, it's probably Philly.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Because Joel Embiid's body is maybe a ticking time bomb.
- 25:01Speaker 5: You don't know when his body's going to go out.
- 25:03Speaker 5: LeBron James is going to be 42 years old. How
- 25:06Speaker 5: long are we going to keep doing this?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Well, I was about to say, who do you think
- 25:09Speaker 1: is going to get hurt first? LeBron or Joel Embiid?
- 25:12Speaker 4: That assumes that Joel Embiid ain't hurt already. I don't
- 25:15Speaker 4: mean hurt. I don't mean hurt. I'm legitimately saying.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I know.
- 25:20Speaker 4: I know. It's miles on that body, dog.
- 25:23Speaker 1: It's a fair question. It's a fair question. Nick Nurse
- 25:25Speaker 1: is going to earn his check this year, man. This
- 25:28Speaker 1: is an interesting team to try to figure out how
- 25:31Speaker 1: to bring all of this together. It felt to all
- 25:36Speaker 1: of us like with the Celtics, Jalen Brown wanted to
- 25:41Speaker 1: be the number one, right? Or the way he saw
- 25:44Speaker 1: it is he saw it as 1A, 1B, and he
- 25:48Speaker 1: was the A.
- 25:50Speaker 4: He saw it as, why not me?
- 25:51Speaker 1: Why not me?
- 25:52Speaker 4: Why am I not the guy?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Right, right. And I think Jason Tatum is a better player,
- 25:59Speaker 1: and Jalen Brown is quite the effective bucket getter.
- 26:02Speaker 5: I think there should be a definitive number one. There
- 26:05Speaker 5: should have been, if it was going to work. But
- 26:06Speaker 5: if you think about it like this, both me and
- 26:08Speaker 5: you have been talking about Tatum and Brown for years. Like,
- 26:11Speaker 5: how long was this going to continue to work? not
- 26:13Speaker 5: just because of them playing similar positions, but because they
- 26:15Speaker 5: kind of did the same things.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 26:17Speaker 5: And how much duplication can you have, especially in a
- 26:20Speaker 5: second apron NBA, can you have in one specific role?
- 26:25Speaker 4: Right.
- 26:26Speaker 5: And I think that's the thing that we don't think
- 26:28Speaker 5: about because Jalen.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Brown is a lightning rod. And we're like, man, Jalen
- 26:31Speaker 4: Brown wants to be the guy.
- 26:32Speaker 1: No.
- 26:32Speaker 5: How about we don't want to have $ 120 million tied
- 26:35Speaker 5: up in one role?
- 26:37Speaker 1: Right. Right. And the other guy– got a torn Achilles tendon,
- 26:43Speaker 1: and we're going to see what that turns into.
- 26:47Speaker 3: That.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I want to wait to get to talking about Boston,
- 26:50Speaker 1: but that's a lot that's going on there. But now, hey, man,
- 26:53Speaker 1: Jalen Brown... Jalen Brown's in a city that is great
- 26:56Speaker 1: for him in a lot of ways. It's a team
- 26:59Speaker 1: that has a zillion things that are going on. And
- 27:04Speaker 1: that's the... You said the thing with LeBron, where it's like,
- 27:07Speaker 1: how long are we going to keep doing this? I
- 27:11Speaker 1: feel like I feel like LeBron last year, even though
- 27:15Speaker 1: you saw in the postseason that he was able to
- 27:17Speaker 1: get the Lakers through that first round series against the
- 27:19Speaker 1: Rockets for whatever that's worth. But I feel like statistically
- 27:23Speaker 1: he's like Russell Westbrook, like Washington Russell Westbrook, which is
- 27:28Speaker 1: to say, Those numbers look a lot better than the
- 27:32Speaker 1: actual play that you are receiving. And it still looks
- 27:35Speaker 1: a lot like the guy that we were talking about,
- 27:38Speaker 1: you know, that we talked about. But come on, man,
- 27:40Speaker 1: it's not the same guy.
- 27:42Speaker 5: No, it's either you're being dishonest or you're not paying
- 27:46Speaker 5: that much attention. Like the win shares, and I don't
- 27:48Speaker 5: have it in front of me. That's where you go
- 27:49Speaker 5: and look at it. Like, oh, he used to be
- 27:51Speaker 5: an advanced stats monster, and it matched up with what
- 27:54Speaker 5: you saw on both ends of the floor. Even when
- 27:57Speaker 5: he had slippage on defense because he just was only
- 28:00Speaker 5: putting so much effort over there, you still got to
- 28:03Speaker 5: see what type of effect on winning. There's people who
- 28:07Speaker 5: drive winning and people who influence winning. LeBron might have
- 28:10Speaker 5: been the single greatest driver of winning that we've had.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Since Michael Jordan.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Now you got to ask yourself, how much is he
- 28:16Speaker 5: influencing winning? He can drive winning in a given situation
- 28:20Speaker 5: on a given night, and maybe this is the situation, Bo,
- 28:23Speaker 5: where you got all these guys who are running up
- 28:25Speaker 5: and down the floor and LeBron just got to find them.
- 28:27Speaker 5: I don't know if statistically he's going to look like
- 28:29Speaker 5: LeBron James, but maybe this is the best.
- 28:31Speaker 4: Spot for him.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Because he doesn't have to do as much.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Because he doesn't have to do as much.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Do you think it matters that it sounds like he
- 28:38Speaker 1: only going to hang out with these dudes at the
- 28:40Speaker 1: arena before he jump in his chopper? Get in the chopper.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Get to the chopper.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 28:47Speaker 4: I don't know how much these dudes care.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yeah. You know what I mean? I think it's a
- 28:51Speaker 1: fair question and one that doesn't have any definitive answer.
- 28:54Speaker 4: No.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I mean, him and Tyrese Maxey are close. That's a
- 28:56Speaker 5: little brother to them. They're clutch, that whole thing. Jalen
- 29:00Speaker 5: Brown actually looks up to LeBron.
- 29:02Speaker 1: How much does that stay the case when they actually
- 29:06Speaker 1: be around each other?
- 29:08Speaker 4: That's a great mystery.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Been there. You know what I mean? Yeah. It don't
- 29:12Speaker 1: always hold up.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Yeah, you do have experience.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't always hold up once you actually have
- 29:17Speaker 1: time around each other, right?
- 29:18Speaker 5: It don't hold up if you see that the image
- 29:20Speaker 5: does not match the substance.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Yeah, or the vibes just might not be as good.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It's like moving in with your homeboy.
- 29:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Right? But one thing on Jalen Brown, Jalen Brown did
- 29:31Speaker 1: something that got me extra salty, and I'm going to
- 29:34Speaker 1: tell everybody what it is in just a minute. The
- 29:38Speaker 1: NBA is back on prize picks. Pick a shootout in
- 29:41Speaker 1: the West, a boards battle in the East. Pick it
- 29:44Speaker 1: all on prize picks available nationwide. So what are you
- 29:48Speaker 1: waiting for? What am I on this NBA season? Well,
- 29:52Speaker 1: I expect Victor to be on a revenge tour all
- 29:54Speaker 1: year long for the Spurs. So when he's in the lineup,
- 29:57Speaker 1: it's probably not a bad idea to select him to
- 29:59Speaker 1: go more. But just because the association is back doesn't
- 30:03Speaker 1: mean football is slowing down. Make your NBA picks like
- 30:06Speaker 1: points and rebounds, then add your football picks like touchdown
- 30:10Speaker 1: and passing yards, and put them in the same lineup.
- 30:12Speaker 1: The lineup possibilities are almost endless because everyone and everything

- 31:04Speaker 3: look ahead. Sunday night football, Seattle taking on Kansas City.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Sam Darnold's projection is set at 225.5. Passing yards.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Go more. The reason I say go more, I think
- 31:16Speaker 1: Kansas City is going to win. I think Kansas City
- 31:18Speaker 1: is going to be ahead early to keep it going.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I think that's then going to require Seattle to throw
- 31:23Speaker 1: the ball more. And that means same Darnold on his
- 31:26Speaker 1: way to a couple of interceptions is also going to
- 31:28Speaker 1: throw more than the allotted number of yards.
- 31:31Speaker 3: All right. Thanks again. The prize picks use code Bomani

- 31:36Speaker 1: Look, if you run a small business, you already know
- 31:39Speaker 1: the problem usually isn't ambitions. It's timing. You need to
- 31:44Speaker 1: replace equipment, stock up on inventory, cover payroll, take advantage
- 31:48Speaker 1: of an opportunity, and somehow the traditional bank wants you
- 31:51Speaker 1: to fill out paperwork like you're applying to join the CIA.
- 31:55Speaker 1: That's where Cardiff comes in. Their application takes about three minutes.
- 31:59Speaker 1: There's no impact on your personal credit just to apply,

- 32:06Speaker 1: Approval in minutes. Funding same day. And this isn't some
- 32:10Speaker 1: brand that just showed up yesterday. Cardiff has funded more
- 32:14Speaker 1: than $ 12 billion to small businesses nationwide. Now, the qualifications
- 32:19Speaker 1: are straightforward. You need to have been in business for
- 32:22Speaker 1: at least one year and doing at least $ 20, 000 per
- 32:26Speaker 1: month in revenue. So if your business is moving and

- 33:53Speaker 1: to talk about the NBA. We're going to talk about
- 33:54Speaker 1: the actual NBA, but those of you who listen to
- 33:56Speaker 1: the show and know me and know where I don't
- 33:58Speaker 1: come from for a long time, you know, I have
- 34:02Speaker 1: not made the point, but I've raised the hypothesis that
- 34:05Speaker 1: in a lot of ways, Jalen Brown stole Sharif Abdul-Rahim's style.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They went to the same high school. They went to
- 34:12Speaker 1: the same college for the same one year. They were
- 34:15Speaker 1: both the number three pick in the draft. They both
- 34:18Speaker 1: bought Big La, Allah. That's the homie. You know what
- 34:21Speaker 1: I'm saying? He tries to be the contemplative guy, et cetera.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Sharif really sell it, right?
- 34:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Sharif bought that.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Sharif bought that. Dallin don't feel the same. But,
- 34:30Speaker 1: you know, I just felt like in some ways he
- 34:32Speaker 1: kind of beat his style. But, you know, y'all from
- 34:35Speaker 1: the same area. I bet they got a relationship. Okay, cool.
- 34:38Speaker 1: But now he biting my style, and now I got
- 34:40Speaker 1: a problem with it. And for those of you who
- 34:43Speaker 1: don't know, he sat on some interview somewhere and that
- 34:46Speaker 1: man said that in his house that he bought a
- 34:50Speaker 1: gold harp and he'd be having a harp player come
- 34:54Speaker 1: in and play the harp twice a week while he
- 34:56Speaker 1: eats dinner. And y'all know that was my idea. Y'all
- 35:00Speaker 1: know I came up with that first. I've been talking
- 35:04Speaker 1: about that since the year of our Lord was 2013
- 35:07Speaker 1: y'all know that they're like oh man that's so baller
- 35:12Speaker 1: no no no no no no he be talking all
- 35:14Speaker 1: that down for the people stuff but he did some
- 35:16Speaker 1: real capitalist shit right there and and exploited me for
- 35:19Speaker 1: my intellectual property.
- 35:21Speaker 4: So are you saying you're charlie wilson and he's aaron.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Hall that's a great way to put it that's a
- 35:26Speaker 1: great way to put it i guess what i'm really
- 35:27Speaker 1: saying is i should have got my money.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Up You could get a harp, but could you get
- 35:33Speaker 5: somebody to play it?
- 35:34Speaker 1: See, that's the part right there. Because you got these guitars. Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 1: but let me tell you, a guitar and a harp.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I think I could probably afford a harp. What I
- 35:43Speaker 1: didn't have was truly adequate space to where the harp
- 35:47Speaker 1: could stand by itself in the position that it should.
- 35:50Speaker 1: you know, to do all the things that I wanted
- 35:52Speaker 1: the harp to do. But when I heard him say
- 35:55Speaker 1: he got somebody played a harp and I got not
- 35:57Speaker 1: one citation, not one accommodation, not one single mention, not
- 36:02Speaker 1: a single bit of that, I admit I felt that.
- 36:07Speaker 5: I'm surprised that nobody has volunteered To bring you a harp.
- 36:12Speaker 5: And all these years you've been doing this podcast and
- 36:15Speaker 5: the TV and been talking about it.
- 36:16Speaker 1: That's how you know them harps ain't cheap. That's how
- 36:19Speaker 1: you know. Like, nobody wanted me to do a harp commercial.
- 36:22Speaker 1: We can have a harp in here. You know what
- 36:23Speaker 1: I'm saying? We can set a harp up.
- 36:25Speaker 4: It's great space in here.
- 36:26Speaker 1: You know, I will say this, though. When we did
- 36:28Speaker 1: the show for the other company, they had a harp
- 36:29Speaker 1: in the logo. You know what I'm saying? Right? So, like,
- 36:32Speaker 1: there we go. But anyway, I just had to let
- 36:34Speaker 1: people know I did, in fact, see Jalen Brown trying
- 36:38Speaker 1: to get like me.
- 36:38Speaker 4: You went for a player-haters ball on that one.
- 36:40Speaker 1: No, incorrect. He trying to get like me. You saying
- 36:42Speaker 1: I did not hate on the player at all. I
- 36:45Speaker 1: just want some props.
- 36:47Speaker 4: Start calling you Silky Johnson.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It's not what I'm just saying. Y'all know who said
- 36:52Speaker 1: it first. And some of y'all out there... Well, you
- 36:54Speaker 1: should have done it. And the answer I say to– nope,
- 36:57Speaker 1: not even going to say that. I was going to
- 36:58Speaker 1: say something very obnoxious.
- 36:59Speaker 4: No, don't do that.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Don't do that. It wasn't going to be that. But anyway,
- 37:03Speaker 1: that happened. Moving on. We want to talk about the
- 37:07Speaker 1: best teams in the West or the most fun team
- 37:09Speaker 1: in the West first?
- 37:09Speaker 4: We can talk about the most fun team in the
- 37:11Speaker 4: West first.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Okay. I think there's no question who the most fun
- 37:13Speaker 1: team in the West this year is going to be,
- 37:14Speaker 1: and it is going to be.
- 37:15Speaker 4: The Minnesota Timberwolves.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Yes, it is. Have you seen what Miles Brown has
- 37:18Speaker 1: referred to the Minnesota Timberwolves as?
- 37:20Speaker 4: Oh, my God, no.
- 37:21Speaker 1: What? You remember how they called Steph and Klay the
- 37:24Speaker 1: Splash Brothers?
- 37:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 37:26Speaker 1: He was referring to Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball as
- 37:28Speaker 1: the Splash.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Oh, I don't.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Oh.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Oh, got it.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Got it.
- 37:41Speaker 2: He told me somebody else came up with it, but
- 37:44Speaker 2: I saw it and was like, oh, man, I don't
- 37:47Speaker 2: like how much I like this.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I don't like how I feel about this.
- 37:51Speaker 2: I can't wait to watch them because they look like
- 37:55Speaker 2: they are having so much fun being around each other.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Have you seen anything with the Temple Wolves together? I
- 38:03Speaker 1: don't know how this is going to be for Rudy Gobert,
- 38:05Speaker 1: who honestly can't possibly enjoy this as much as everybody
- 38:08Speaker 1: else is. Anthony Edwards, one of the great leaders.
- 38:12Speaker 4: In sport, I want to throw out there.
- 38:17Speaker 1: You see where Brendan Haywood was talking about how Ant-Man
- 38:19Speaker 1: can't be the face of the league because he was
- 38:21Speaker 1: dropping too many N-words and F-words and everything else. And
- 38:25Speaker 1: Brendan's not wrong in his theory. Well, here's where he's wrong.
- 38:30Speaker 1: The league does not decide who the face is.
- 38:32Speaker 4: The people do.
- 38:32Speaker 1: The world decides who the face is because the league
- 38:35Speaker 1: once got a face that it never wanted. And that
- 38:38Speaker 1: was Allen Iverson.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Say what you want.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yeah, he was.
- 38:41Speaker 1: He was the face of the NBA.
- 38:42Speaker 4: He was a symbol.
- 38:43Speaker 1: And it was not because the NBA told us. The
- 38:45Speaker 1: streets is going to decide. The streets are not the
- 38:47Speaker 1: same as it used to be. The world's not the
- 38:48Speaker 1: same as it used to be. So Anthony Edwards will
- 38:50Speaker 1: never get that. However, I wish he was. First of all,
- 38:54Speaker 1: I think they're going to be good.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I saw Monica say she thinks they're going to win
- 38:58Speaker 1: the West, which I thought was a bit ambitious. But
- 39:00Speaker 1: that is a really big, really skilled backcourt. And at
- 39:05Speaker 1: least one of them plays a lot of defense.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Well, that's the big thing.
- 39:09Speaker 5: LaMelo enables Ant to go back to being one of
- 39:12Speaker 5: the best defensive players in basketball. There's only so much
- 39:14Speaker 5: energy you can expound when you've got to handle the ball, score,
- 39:19Speaker 5: be leader guy, and then defend your position.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Like, no, no, no.
- 39:23Speaker 5: LaMelo, my question with him is, A, can he stay healthy? And, B,
- 39:27Speaker 5: you've been playing basketball in Charlotte.
- 39:29Speaker 4: How serious?
- 39:30Speaker 5: Am i supposed to take you not that the numbers
- 39:33Speaker 5: don't say that he's has a greater effect on winning
- 39:36Speaker 5: than the raw numbers or the raw number says poor
- 39:38Speaker 5: shot selection a lot of turnovers but he has an
- 39:41Speaker 5: effect on winning and he has an effect on that
- 39:43Speaker 5: culture there that i don't think we're going to give
- 39:45Speaker 5: him enough credit for but can he stay healthy and
- 39:47Speaker 5: can you play serious ball That's my question.
- 39:50Speaker 4: And look at what we keep surrounding Anthony Edwards with.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Every time we look up... Reclamation projects.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Man. Okay, you start off with Carl Towns.
- 39:58Speaker 5: All right, cool.
- 39:59Speaker 4: He loved Carl.
- 40:00Speaker 1: He did.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Then you give him Julius Randle.
- 40:02Speaker 1: And they clearly did not love him. Nobody's saying it
- 40:06Speaker 1: in explicit terms. Everybody seems glad that he's out of there.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Not just him, but Nas Reed, too. He was a
- 40:12Speaker 5: little bit of a Debbie Downer. And Ant, as you
- 40:14Speaker 5: can see, carries all this energy. So can you imagine
- 40:18Speaker 5: when his aunt He walk into the building and he see, man.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I guess I got to do it today. You know
- 40:24Speaker 4: what I mean?
- 40:25Speaker 5: He has to bring the energy all the time.
- 40:28Speaker 4: That's exhausting.
- 40:29Speaker 1: How you feeling, Julius? Down in the dump. Down in
- 40:34Speaker 1: the dump.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Full Eeyore?
- 40:35Speaker 1: Yeah, just down in the dump.
- 40:37Speaker 4: I don't even know.
- 40:39Speaker 1: If we're allowed to laugh at that anymore with people,
- 40:41Speaker 1: but there's nothing quite like the down in the... Every
- 40:44Speaker 1: time they pull up, just down in the dump.
- 40:46Speaker 4: We're not making fun of.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, no. We're making fun of what it's
- 40:51Speaker 1: like to be around an old sad-ass motherfucker. That is
- 40:53Speaker 1: what we're talking about. I hate that people are sad,
- 40:57Speaker 1: but we got to be able to do something about
- 41:00Speaker 1: it somewhere. We got to have some release on that.
- 41:02Speaker 1: And I'm just telling you right now, if you can't
- 41:04Speaker 1: relate to dealing with the down in the dumps, you
- 41:07Speaker 1: need to go get that shit checked out.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see that later.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Yeah, we helping. That's what we doing. We not making
- 41:12Speaker 1: a joke out of you. We telling you right now.
- 41:13Speaker 1: If you're like, I don't see what's so funny. Go
- 41:16Speaker 1: holler at somebody.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Go see that lady.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Go check on them.
- 41:18Speaker 5: No, but Ant has a great pulse. And I don't
- 41:22Speaker 5: think that because Ant doesn't look a certain way or
- 41:25Speaker 5: carry it a certain way that he's not perceptive. I
- 41:27Speaker 5: think he is super perceptive. I think he is super observant.
- 41:31Speaker 5: And you're right about face of the league. Because remember
- 41:33Speaker 5: who else the league wanted to make face of the league?
- 41:36Speaker 5: And the only reason they didn't make him face of
- 41:37Speaker 5: the league because he was playing with guns.
- 41:39Speaker 1: That did happen. That did happen.
- 41:42Speaker 4: And I contend, had he... Stayed on the floor. They
- 41:46Speaker 4: might have overlooked him.
- 41:47Speaker 1: They would have.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Playing with guns.
- 41:48Speaker 1: They would have.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Because he was available.
- 41:50Speaker 1: He made it impossible.
- 41:51Speaker 5: The other guy they wanted to make face of the
- 41:53Speaker 5: league was hiding food under his bed. And had he
- 41:55Speaker 5: stayed on the floor.
- 41:57Speaker 4: Please tell me that's an exaggeration. Had he stayed on
- 41:59Speaker 4: the floor.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Please tell me that's an exaggeration. No.
- 42:03Speaker 4: That was.
- 42:04Speaker 1: I don't.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Here's the question is, Bo. I don't know.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I was hiding food under the bed.
- 42:09Speaker 4: I don't know how we heard that. Don't tell me that.
- 42:11Speaker 4: I don't know the sources. I don't know the sources.
- 42:13Speaker 5: But I think Stephen A has said that once when
- 42:15Speaker 5: he was talking about Zion.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Oh, no. See, the problem with Stephen A is Stephen
- 42:19Speaker 1: A a man of a different generation. Stephen A is
- 42:23Speaker 1: too old to know that we don't tell fat jokes
- 42:25Speaker 1: no more. Like, you remember how many, like, sitcoms just, like,
- 42:29Speaker 1: that was the guaranteed applause moment?
- 42:31Speaker 4: The fat sidekick?
- 42:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Not just married with children, right? Like, everybody
- 42:35Speaker 1: would get out of here. You know, they don't even
- 42:37Speaker 1: put fat people on TV. And that's the thing about it.
- 42:38Speaker 1: They didn't get no better about it. They stopped putting, like,
- 42:40Speaker 1: ain't no rerun on TV no more.
- 42:41Speaker 4: No, that's a good point.
- 42:42Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? They just like, oh, we
- 42:44Speaker 1: can't laugh at them. We ain't got no use for them.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Kind of like little people. They like, we ain't got,
- 42:49Speaker 1: if we can't laugh at this, we just not going
- 42:51Speaker 1: to put y'all in movies no more.
- 42:52Speaker 4: That's just what now we do.
- 42:53Speaker 5: And I'm not making fun of Zion, because I was
- 42:56Speaker 5: the biggest... I was a big Zion guy. What I'm
- 42:58Speaker 5: saying is he had all those things going on, and
- 43:01Speaker 5: the league still would have, or the people still would
- 43:04Speaker 5: have chosen him as the guy because the people make
- 43:08Speaker 5: these decisions.
- 43:10Speaker 1: If he was hiding food under the bed, I am
- 43:13Speaker 1: making fun of that. I don't care who you are.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Even if it could be me. If something happened and
- 43:20Speaker 1: I felt compelled to hide food under my bed, here
- 43:24Speaker 1: they come, here they come. And I'm throwing food under
- 43:26Speaker 1: my bed. Like, whatever the circumstances are that make me
- 43:30Speaker 1: ashamed to have this.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I'm a grown man, and I'm throwing food, and I'm
- 43:36Speaker 2: hiding shit under my bed?
- 43:39Speaker 1: No, no, buddy. I'm laughing. I'm sorry. Shit, that's the
- 43:42Speaker 1: funniest thing I've ever heard.
- 43:44Speaker 2: We got real live basketball to talk about, and you
- 43:46Speaker 2: got these guys throwing food under his bed.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I'm not saying he does that now.
- 43:56Speaker 1: When did he do it?
- 43:57Speaker 4: I'm not saying he does it now. I'm saying, y'all,
- 44:01Speaker 4: I'm in tears. I promise y'all.
- 44:02Speaker 5: This is not an over-exaggeration. I'm saying that this has
- 44:06Speaker 5: maybe happened in the past couple years.
- 44:08Speaker 4: I'm not– Okay.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
- 44:14Speaker 4: No, because he's a guy. He's a guy. No, not
- 44:16Speaker 4: to be funny.
- 44:17Speaker 5: His contract ain't guaranteed for next year. He got to
- 44:20Speaker 5: play this year.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Well, in that case, I guess I may– maybe I
- 44:25Speaker 1: will throw some food under my– Oh, man.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Man, oh, man, oh, man.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I wonder what kind of food it was. It clearly
- 44:35Speaker 1: wasn't a salad. Like, if it was a salad, he
- 44:38Speaker 1: wouldn't have seen. He'd be like, yeah, come on in.
- 44:41Speaker 1: It was a salad. He'd be like, come on in.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Look at that. It ain't even got no dressing on it.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I'd just use lemon juice if it was a salad.
- 44:48Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Anyway. It's Thunder Spurs, which is starting to feel like,
- 44:56Speaker 1: I wish they could do this every year. This is
- 44:58Speaker 1: why I don't like Adam Silver's NBA. Because that shit
- 45:01Speaker 1: could turn into like Michigan, Ohio State, where it's a
- 45:03Speaker 1: rivalry every day of the year.
- 45:05Speaker 4: That team up north.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Because there's such beef. Okay, guys. I have not seen
- 45:14Speaker 1: anything of Victor this summer. Except for that one play
- 45:18Speaker 1: that I saw where he went end to end and
- 45:20Speaker 1: threw himself. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. there's a
- 45:23Speaker 1: possibility that he could come out here literally looking like
- 45:26Speaker 1: some form of wilt this year. If he properly internalized
- 45:32Speaker 1: the ways in which they came up short at the
- 45:35Speaker 1: end of last season, and also as they figure out
- 45:38Speaker 1: what to do with Dylan Harper. Yes. Because clearly Dylan
- 45:41Speaker 1: Harper believes that he is better than De'Aaron Fox. They
- 45:44Speaker 1: got to figure out how to manage that. Yes. The
- 45:46Speaker 1: hot take is I think Castle's the one that they
- 45:48Speaker 1: need to ask themselves questions about. Like, I think he's
- 45:52Speaker 1: on more of a show and prove year than people.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Because the shortcomings he has.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:58Speaker 1: It's not that he's not good. Right, all right. I
- 46:00Speaker 1: see what you're saying. But the ways he came up
- 46:02Speaker 1: short when he came up short were problematic.
- 46:06Speaker 5: But to me, that's indicative of a team that had
- 46:09Speaker 5: emotionally just emptied the tank.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I think that's fair.
- 46:12Speaker 4: In that conference finals. Two things can be true here.
- 46:16Speaker 5: Victor Wimbanyama can come back and be unanimous MVP great.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 4: And the Spurs still might not get to the NBA finals.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:24Speaker 5: You know what I mean? A, think about Oklahoma City
- 46:27Speaker 5: being on a 70-win track. Now, last year, let's take
- 46:31Speaker 5: the lottery out of it, right? Because so many teams
- 46:33Speaker 5: were not trying.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Yes.
- 46:35Speaker 5: Teams are going to try this year. Oklahoma City could
- 46:38Speaker 5: be a 65-win good, great team. Their second-best player is healthy.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:44Speaker 4: And you don't have to put as much on Chet.
- 46:47Speaker 5: Chet was overmatched not just by Victor, but by the
- 46:51Speaker 5: responsibility of having to be the second option in that
- 46:55Speaker 5: type of playoff series.
- 46:56Speaker 4: What if you lessen the dependency?
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:59Speaker 4: And you're saying you are our fourth best scorer.
- 47:01Speaker 1: A.J.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Mitchell is one of those. Oklahoma City just keep rolling
- 47:05Speaker 5: them out. Here's another guy you ain't.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Never heard of. They just gave Case Wallace his money.
- 47:08Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 47:09Speaker 5: Sam Presti is just a G amongst Gs as far
- 47:12Speaker 5: as finding guys out. So now that you have figured
- 47:16Speaker 5: this out, you got your wings, you got enough bigs,
- 47:19Speaker 5: and you still have the bones of a championship team.
- 47:23Speaker 5: Maybe the Spurs are your kryptonite, but maybe this is
- 47:26Speaker 5: just year to year. It could go any way. It doesn't,
- 47:30Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying? It doesn't mean anything. The
- 47:32Speaker 5: Spurs can win the title. The Spurs could lose in
- 47:34Speaker 5: the conference finals. I could see any outcome and be
- 47:37Speaker 5: okay with it.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Where are you on Denver?
- 47:44Speaker 4: Is it over?
- 47:46Speaker 1: So the trick bag with them is, on one level,
- 47:49Speaker 1: Nikola Jokic, not as young as he used to be.
- 47:51Speaker 1: On the other hand, I have no idea how much
- 47:53Speaker 1: that matters, given the type of game that he plays.
- 48:00Speaker 1: But they should be. I think they should be really good.
- 48:03Speaker 1: And I think that they are a tough matchup for
- 48:06Speaker 1: both Oklahoma City and the Spurs.
- 48:08Speaker 5: Well, the thing for me last year that I jumped
- 48:10Speaker 5: on with Denver about, you had Jokic– plus seven guys
- 48:14Speaker 5: who shot 40% from three. That to me said, oh,
- 48:18Speaker 5: we can't defend you guys. You single on Jokic, he
- 48:21Speaker 5: kills you. You double him or you shade off, he's
- 48:24Speaker 5: going to find a shooter. And they had health relative.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Well, except for the one guy. Yes. And it's Aaron Gordon.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Aaron Gordon.
- 48:32Speaker 5: But you can't count on, at the point of his
- 48:35Speaker 5: career and at the point of this thing where you
- 48:38Speaker 5: can't count on him being completely healthy.
- 48:40Speaker 4: When he's there, he makes it all complete.
- 48:42Speaker 1: Year 13. That's how old we are now.
- 48:47Speaker 5: That dunk contest was a long time ago, dog.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Year 13. And we also have the Minneapolis Lakers.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Yes, the Lando Lakes.
- 48:58Speaker 1: Yeah, running that miking system.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Yes, I mean.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Although I just saw they got a dollar connect out
- 49:04Speaker 1: of there.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Bronny stays.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but they down one.
- 49:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but they have been down one with him for
- 49:11Speaker 4: a minute.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just saying, that's one less, right?
- 49:14Speaker 1: Because one less guy to run the Mikan system.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but, you know, Luka comes for like two.
- 49:19Speaker 1: You know, he ain't for me. He ain't for around here.
- 49:21Speaker 1: You know, so let me think. It's Luka. It's Austin Reeves.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Walker Kessler. See, that's a last name, last name. Who
- 49:29Speaker 1: else we got running? Who else they got out there?
- 49:31Speaker 1: Jake LaRavia, he's still on the team.
- 49:32Speaker 4: Jake LaRavia, yeah, he's still there.
- 49:34Speaker 1: We got any more? I feel like there's some more Mikans.
- 49:36Speaker 1: They got another one, didn't they?
- 49:38Speaker 4: No, that might have been it.
- 49:40Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 49:41Speaker 3: It is.
- 49:41Speaker 5: I can't pronounce his name. Not even going to try to.
- 49:43Speaker 5: But he's a new addition, and he works well. I
- 49:46Speaker 5: saw him play.
- 49:47Speaker 4: I'm not even going to.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. I know they were trying to get, what's
- 49:51Speaker 1: his name, Jim McElvain. Was he available?
- 49:55Speaker 4: I think he signed that big deal with the Seattle Sonics. Okay.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Paul Mokesky.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Paul Mokesky, Jack Sigma. You know what I'm saying? They're
- 50:03Speaker 4: trying to bring the band all together.
- 50:06Speaker 5: I got a question for you, and I don't know
- 50:07Speaker 5: if I've ever asked you this on Wax before. Best
- 50:11Speaker 5: American white since Larry Bird is?
- 50:15Speaker 1: Best American white since Larry Bird. American white. Is it
- 50:21Speaker 1: Mark Price?
- 50:22Speaker 4: Or is it Cooper Flagg?
- 50:24Speaker 1: Well, okay. That's... The expectation is that the answer is yes.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Yes.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I did not watch them play that much last year.
- 50:33Speaker 1: I don't know how good he was.
- 50:35Speaker 5: I'm not saying better than Larry Bird. I'm saying for
- 50:38Speaker 5: people who don't.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Lose their minds. Yeah, I forget who it was. I
- 50:39Speaker 1: think it was an O'Gill show where somebody tried to
- 50:41Speaker 1: say he was better than Larry Bird, and Byron Scott
- 50:43Speaker 1: lost his ever-loving mind. I don't understand how people's... If
- 50:47Speaker 1: you don't get how good Larry Bird is, I feel
- 50:49Speaker 1: like you just need to watch Jokic to understand that, yes,
- 50:51Speaker 1: everything Larry Bird did is possible in today's NBA.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Well, the problem is that they're like, he couldn't jump,
- 50:55Speaker 5: he couldn't move. And I'm like, hey, if Jokic, think
- 50:58Speaker 5: about this, if Jokic played 30 years ago, dudes would
- 51:02Speaker 5: be saying Jokic couldn't play in today's game.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Yep.
- 51:05Speaker 5: When Jokic is dominating today's game, even as he's crossing 30.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Larry Bird always said that jumping is the most overrated
- 51:12Speaker 1: skill in basketball, and I have grown to believe that
- 51:14Speaker 1: he is correct.
- 51:15Speaker 5: You know who else told me? Who else told me
- 51:18Speaker 5: 20 years ago the name of the game is basketball,
- 51:21Speaker 5: it's not run and jump?
- 51:23Speaker 1: Lamar Odom. Now when you say it, I can see it.
- 51:28Speaker 4: Lamar Odom, who's an athlete.
- 51:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:31Speaker 5: Who could run and jump, but knew that that wasn't
- 51:33Speaker 5: going to be the thing that got him over.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Larry Bird told them, boys, I am saving my right
- 51:40Speaker 1: for L.A. All I'm giving y'all is my left. 47.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Okay, well, 47 points. Portland, 47.
- 51:47Speaker 1: And when you hear that story, you're like, no, not really.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Then you watch the clip and you're like.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Left-handed hook shots.
- 51:54Speaker 1: It's all left-handed. Everything.
- 51:55Speaker 4: You know why? You want to know why I think
- 51:58Speaker 4: he did that? You know who was across the way
- 51:59Speaker 4: from him?
- 52:00Speaker 1: Was it Clyde? No. Jim Paxson?
- 52:02Speaker 4: Kiki.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Oh, it was Kiki. Oh, Kiki was on that squad?
- 52:04Speaker 4: I think Kiki was on that squad.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Hey, man, Kiki, that's a white man that scored 30
- 52:07Speaker 1: points a game and don't nobody ever talk about it.
- 52:10Speaker 4: But think about it from the Birdman's point of view. Oh,
- 52:12Speaker 4: y'all think he good?
- 52:12Speaker 1: Oh, dude. Larry Bird. There's a few guys that are
- 52:17Speaker 1: like this in different ways. I forget the one I
- 52:19Speaker 1: was thinking about earlier today, but me and my brother
- 52:20Speaker 1: compare him to a drummer named Ginger Baker. I don't
- 52:23Speaker 1: even know who Ginger Baker is. Ginger Baker was the
- 52:25Speaker 1: drummer for Cream back in the day with Eric Clapton
- 52:28Speaker 1: and Jack Bruce. Anyway, he is the Larry Bird of
- 52:31Speaker 1: drummers in the don't you compare me to these white
- 52:33Speaker 1: boys situation. He's like, you want to compare me to
- 52:38Speaker 1: Tony Williams? You want to compare me to Max Roach?
- 52:40Speaker 1: That's fine. Man, if you don't get Dave Grohl out
- 52:43Speaker 1: of my face, I'm not trying to hear that. He
- 52:45Speaker 1: moved over to Nigeria. He's out there playing with Faye Lyle.
- 52:49Speaker 1: They like all this stuff, but they're like, Larry Bird's
- 52:51Speaker 1: the same way, man. Don't be out here comparing me
- 52:53Speaker 1: to these white boys, man.
- 52:54Speaker 4: None of these mortals.
- 52:55Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 52:55Speaker 5: But what if Cooper Flagg is ready to make this
- 52:58Speaker 5: leap into, like, a top 15 player?
- 53:01Speaker 4: Because he's not even– is he just 20?
- 53:03Speaker 1: He's just– well, yeah, he's 20. I think he was–
- 53:06Speaker 1: I think he might be 19.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he's still 19. Birthday's in December.
- 53:09Speaker 5: Going to be 20. They going to figure some stuff out.
- 53:11Speaker 5: They don't have their picks because of the whole Luka thing.
- 53:14Speaker 5: They got everything out of there. But what do they
- 53:16Speaker 5: do with Kyrie? Like, I think they're pretty intriguing– But
- 53:19Speaker 5: what if he turns for him? I think we got
- 53:21Speaker 5: him at ESPN maybe 27 or 25 or something like that.
- 53:24Speaker 4: What if he makes that leap in the top 15?
- 53:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:28Speaker 5: To me, this is one of the more intriguing seasons
- 53:31Speaker 5: we've had in large part because you can go to
- 53:33Speaker 5: sleep early, right? But even Dallas is in the central
- 53:36Speaker 5: time zone.
- 53:37Speaker 1: You're right.
- 53:37Speaker 4: So even then, all their games ain't going to be
- 53:39Speaker 4: starting late. I can actually get rest that night.
- 53:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I'm going to go back to the East. Tyrese Halliburton,
- 53:44Speaker 1: he don't think we're making a big enough deal of
- 53:45Speaker 1: the fact that he's coming back.
- 53:47Speaker 4: We're not.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean. Sometimes life's not fair. He is
- 53:53Speaker 1: coming back. He will be playing on opening night. Yes.
- 53:56Speaker 1: It's not opening night. He'll be playing Wednesday, I think.
- 53:58Speaker 4: He's playing tomorrow. Opening night is Tuesday.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Yeah, opening night is Tuesday. Either way it goes, he
- 54:02Speaker 1: mad because he ain't getting the spotlight that he felt
- 54:04Speaker 1: like he deserved, and they want to see if he's
- 54:06Speaker 1: going to come back and be good.
- 54:07Speaker 5: Well, they weren't a great regular season team anyway. They
- 54:10Speaker 5: were a four seed that ran through everybody and got
- 54:12Speaker 5: to the NBA Finals. That's a team I worry about
- 54:15Speaker 5: in April and May, not necessarily October to then.
- 54:18Speaker 4: But they got the system.
- 54:20Speaker 5: And he is like a Steve Nash type where he
- 54:22Speaker 5: plays more to accentuate the talents of his teammates than himself.
- 54:27Speaker 5: And I do think that we are overlooking him a bit.
- 54:29Speaker 5: I think, once again, the Miami Heat, Giannis Antetokounmpo.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:33Speaker 4: I don't care if they don't get shooting.
- 54:35Speaker 5: They didn't have a number one score last year, and
- 54:37Speaker 5: they had a guy score 83 in the game.
- 54:39Speaker 4: They had everybody mad.
- 54:40Speaker 1: They're going to play a lot. With him and Bam,
- 54:43Speaker 1: they going to. I don't remember if there was a
- 54:46Speaker 1: Nigeria community in Miami. But if there is, boy, quite
- 54:51Speaker 1: the hybrid. And I would look forward to seeing them
- 54:53Speaker 1: at 10 games. They got two big old shot-blocking Nigerians
- 54:57Speaker 1: down there.
- 54:57Speaker 4: Yeah, they do.
- 54:58Speaker 5: Look, man, Giannis, once again, I say this for people
- 55:01Speaker 5: who don't know this. I didn't look it up, but
- 55:05Speaker 5: before last year when Giannis played 36 games and that
- 55:08Speaker 5: thing clearly was coming to an end, the last seven.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Years before that, top five MVP.
- 55:13Speaker 1: Yes, he was.
- 55:15Speaker 4: What are we doing here?
- 55:16Speaker 5: And if we're saying that organizationally, Milwaukee failed him, despite
- 55:19Speaker 5: winning the championship and all that. If you're going to
- 55:21Speaker 5: say that they failed him, he's going to the Miami Heat.
- 55:24Speaker 5: Not that the Heat have been flawless, but Eric Sposio
- 55:27Speaker 5: is a top three coach in basketball.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Perfect culture fit.
- 55:30Speaker 5: Bam Adebayo is probably the best sidekick defensively that he
- 55:34Speaker 5: will play with because he'll get out of his way.
- 55:37Speaker 5: Giannis will take it off the glass and go end
- 55:38Speaker 5: to end. And I'm not as worried about the shooting
- 55:42Speaker 5: as much. I'm worried about can y'all get open.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:46Speaker 4: You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 55:47Speaker 5: I don't know if Klay can get open to get
- 55:49Speaker 5: the open shot, to create his own open shot.
- 55:51Speaker 4: Yeah. That's my concern.
- 55:52Speaker 5: But over 82 games, if Giannis is healthy, we might
- 55:55Speaker 5: get the Kevin Garnett 2007-08 season with the Celtics.
- 55:57Speaker 4: Remember everybody thought KG was done?
- 55:59Speaker 1: No, you're right. Let me also tell you this about Giannis.
- 56:03Speaker 1: This summer, I went to Greece and spent three nights
- 56:09Speaker 1: in Athens. I don't know... what I thought about Athens.
- 56:15Speaker 1: And when I was in Athens, right? Like I got
- 56:17Speaker 1: on the bus, I got around, I went to, I
- 56:19Speaker 1: went to some different, I saw a decent bit of Athens.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Okay.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Amen. Can't go back. I, I had misunderstood. Like I'd heard,
- 56:31Speaker 1: you know, about their hard scrabble.
- 56:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Athenian upbringing.
- 56:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:35Speaker 1: But I didn't realize how much hard scrabble in Athens
- 56:38Speaker 1: had to offer.
- 56:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Y'all just made a lot more sense to me after
- 56:43Speaker 1: I was up there.
- 56:44Speaker 5: Was that the most hard Scarborough place you visited by
- 56:47Speaker 5: your own will?
- 56:48Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I mean, I didn't go to favelas in Rio, but
- 56:50Speaker 1: I've been to Rio. I just don't know what I
- 56:53Speaker 1: thought Athens was going to be.
- 56:55Speaker 4: Okay.
- 56:55Speaker 1: And in those ways, it exceeded my expectations, shall we say. Yeah,
- 57:02Speaker 1: Athens looked like it got some stuff you need to
- 57:03Speaker 1: watch out for. Like, now I see why that man
- 57:05Speaker 1: played with the dedication he got. When they say Giannis
- 57:07Speaker 1: still going in, like, taking food on the way out
- 57:09Speaker 1: and all that stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw. I saw.
- 57:13Speaker 4: I mean, but look, they only make one of them.
- 57:15Speaker 1: They only did. The hell he made. He is.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Do we think that his body is going to hold up?
- 57:19Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. You and I, we've talked. This
- 57:21Speaker 1: is year 14. We've talked about this a lot with him.
- 57:23Speaker 1: The question is not simply about whether his body holds up.
- 57:26Speaker 1: I think it is our general belief that he has
- 57:29Speaker 1: a game that cannot withstand much breakdown. But if you
- 57:33Speaker 1: can stay on top of your shot, like with Russell Westbrook,
- 57:35Speaker 1: when his body broke down, it didn't look like his
- 57:37Speaker 1: body broke down. You saw it because he couldn't shoot anymore. Right.
- 57:41Speaker 1: If he can still reasonably make open shots. Then, you know.
- 57:47Speaker 5: Well, he's never been like this, just score that you
- 57:51Speaker 5: just got to worry about from all ends of the floor.
- 57:53Speaker 5: His relentlessness is what got him. And what got Russ
- 57:56Speaker 5: is that he couldn't play close to the rim.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Yes.
- 57:58Speaker 5: Giannis can score 20 just by playing close to the
- 58:01Speaker 5: rim and getting you the hell up out the way.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:03Speaker 4: I will get, you know what I'm saying? I'll grant
- 58:05Speaker 4: him that.
- 58:06Speaker 5: The crazy thing for me is I just, it looks
- 58:09Speaker 5: like he takes good care of himself.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 58:11Speaker 4: Right? He hasn't had the devastating injuries. You know what
- 58:16Speaker 4: I mean?
- 58:17Speaker 5: He just got miles in the nicks and bruises. And
- 58:20Speaker 5: I think for 10 minutes a night, he can say,
- 58:23Speaker 5: I'm taking this game over on both ends of the floor.
- 58:25Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 58:26Speaker 5: He can just press the button and go. In Miami,
- 58:29Speaker 5: I would hope, we know how to harness that.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Yeah. You mentioned Toronto earlier. You know an underrated part
- 58:36Speaker 1: of Kawhi going back to Toronto for me?
- 58:38Speaker 4: What's that?
- 58:40Speaker 1: He is on pace to surpass Carmelo Anthony. as the
- 58:46Speaker 1: best player in NBA history to not have his Jersey retired.
- 58:52Speaker 1: And he could lock that up in Toronto with just
- 58:54Speaker 1: some good vibes at a couple of halfway decent years.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Now I think that they should retire his Jersey in
- 58:59Speaker 1: Toronto just on the strength of 2019.
- 59:01Speaker 4: I think they will.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Right. It may be, but it's in the air and
- 59:04Speaker 1: they've given his number away in San Antonio to somebody
- 59:07Speaker 1: that they hope is a jersey. This isn't like where
- 59:10Speaker 1: they gave Chris Paul's number to Brad Beal with the Clippers,
- 59:12Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay. Like, it's not retired yet. Right.
- 59:16Speaker 1: And they're not going to retire for Brad fucking Beal.
- 59:18Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Don't you worry. Dylan Harper has his number in San Antonio.
- 59:22Speaker 1: They would like that. I mean, Denver with Melo, they immediately.
- 59:27Speaker 4: They gave that away.
- 59:28Speaker 1: They gave it to Anthony Randolph.
- 59:29Speaker 4: That's what it was.
- 59:30Speaker 1: They gave it to Anthony Randolph. And now Jokic has it, right?
- 59:32Speaker 1: But it's ridiculous. They retired Dikembe Mutombo's number.
- 59:35Speaker 4: It was spite.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying? If you've established
- 59:38Speaker 1: that the standard will let you– Dikembe Mutombo played there
- 59:40Speaker 1: for five years. If that's the standard, then.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Carmelo Anthony gets his jersey retired.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Completely changed the direction of the franchise. Yeah. Right? Yeah.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Anyway.
- 59:50Speaker 5: Grant Hill will not have his– Grant Hill should have
- 59:52Speaker 5: his jersey retired in Detroit.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 59:54Speaker 4: They have not given away 33 yet.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they will.
- 59:58Speaker 4: No, they will. But up until this point, he hasn't.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Yeah. Right?
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: And he left Detroit 27 years ago, 26 years ago, whatever.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: But he doesn't have– he does not have the pelts
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: on the wall that Kawhi Leonard has as a player. Kawhi,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: two-time Finals MVP, two-time Defensive Player of the Year. He
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: just doesn't have the game played count.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: No, I'm with you.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: He has a kind of like 50-40-90 guy as the
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: best defensive player in the league. That's a top-30 case.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: That sentence right there.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: If he's healthy– If Kawhi Leonard's healthy, he's a top...
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: I had someone tell me the other day he's a
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: top three player in basketball if he's healthy. The question is,
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: we can't say that he's healthy in case he's showing
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: up to work.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: It's also year 16.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Well, for him, this is where is it atrophy on
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: the body or is it he doesn't have the miles
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: because he's spent so much time chilling?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I think that there's something not right with his knees.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: And he has had the atrophy because there has been
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: the ACL tears and those things, but He's such an
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: excellent player. They don't really need him to be their
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: best player. And he's in kind of the one place
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: right now that somebody's happy to see him.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: I think they need him to be their best player.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: You don't think Scottie Barnes is good enough to.
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: Not in this Eastern Conference. I think he's really good.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: But I think for your best... Think about this. Best
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: player being whoever it is on Philly that given night.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: Jalen Brunson. Finals MVP. Kay Cunningham in Detroit.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Giannis.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: Like, Okay, Donovan Mitchell in Cleveland or Evan Mobley. All right, cool.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: But you look at the best players on teams, we're
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: talking about all-NBA first-team type dudes.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: All right, well, let me ask you this. Can Scottie
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Barnes be Toronto's best player in the way that Carl
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Anthony Towns may be the Knicks' best player, but Kawhi
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Leonard is the Jalen Brunson in the way that Jalen
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Brunson is for the Knicks?
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: I understand your point.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm asking.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no. I get the question. But
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: I wonder if it's less about one and two and
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: more about one, two, and three.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Got you.
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: Because OG Ananobi being there as this, I can defend,
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: I can shoot, I can tip in.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Strong like bull.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: Taller than you think. All those things. More than you think,
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: that's OG Ananobi. You know what I mean?
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: Like, who is that for the Toronto Raptors that allows
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: Scotty Barnes to be the ultimate Swiss Army knife? Can
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: your best player be Jack of all trades, master of none?
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Yeah. I want to ask you this before we get
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: out of here, at least this one. Do you think
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: there's any carryover in Detroit from how the contract thing
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: went with Jalen Dern? Because the Knicks' contracts we talked
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: about earlier are unresolved. They got Dern to sign. I
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: don't know how happy he is about the situation.
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: You hear different things. Like, I got to see him
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: for a hot second over the weekend. It's hard because
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: he's 22. You know what I mean? But the coaches
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: tell you that he's all in and everything else, and
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: he came in in really good shape. And he's still
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: got room to grow. And the thing is, The difference
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: with Carl is Carl will be taking a pay cut.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: Jalen Dern, the first time you mad, you get that check.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: You like, oh, am I mad?
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: No, I ain't mad.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: We good.
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: And the question becomes with Detroit, their three best players
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: are still ascending. So while I think to some degree
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: we're overlooking them because of everything else, Isn't that what
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: the way the NBA used to be?
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: But they were the number one seed in the East
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: last year.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And I feel like none of us are looking. And
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: we never thought last year they had a chance to
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: win a championship.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: No.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: And I feel like we're treating them like that again
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: this year.
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: How does that happen? Like, it feels like you make
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: a move to make it to where we don't do that.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: But they haven't. They haven't made that move. Like, they
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: wanted to get a guy. They wanted to get KD.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Houston said, no, thank you.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: They wanted Kawhi Kawhi. I said, I want to go
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: play here.
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Kyrie Irving is a guy that's interesting to me But
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Kyrie Irving was that guy 10 years ago. What is
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: Kyrie Irving right now coming off of that level of
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: injury and at his size and the fact that he's
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: not super athlete?
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I just want Kyrie to
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: come to Detroit. I had never really thought about this before.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: The home of Minister Ford. I want Kawhi to come,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I mean, Kyrie, sorry. I want Kyrie to come to
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Detroit right now. I can't wait to see Kyrie taking
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: pictures with that boy, Abdul, hanging out in Dearborn. That's
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: where they at, right? Dearborn, Kyrie. Oh boy, Kyrie gonna
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: have more fans in Detroit than he ever had before. Okay, okay.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: You can see the vibe now?
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I see the vibe. I don't know how good he
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: still is at basketball. Coming off his injury, year 16.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I don't have the answer for that.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: That's a lot.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: But at the same time, boy, I never quite see–
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I see a vision here.
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: I'm telling you, this will be a fascinating year all
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: the way around.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: And if Kyrie is great, then you're going to have
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: a bunch of teams lining up to get him because
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: you've seen that he can play next to these high-usage, ball-dominant,
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: guard-wing types. Is he the final piece?
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Yo, there's so much NBA that we've been here like
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: an hour. We ain't talked about the Warriors. Nope. The Cavs,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: the weirdest thing ever. A team that got to the
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: conference finals farther than they've gotten in this incarnation. And
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: we did not come away from it feeling like they're
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: on the right track. Nope. We came away from it
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: being like, man, they ain't never going to do it.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: Because they coached without saying before they got swept. You know, analytically,
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: we have two games to one.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: Boy, he ain't never getting that one back. Boy, I
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: can't imagine.
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: Hey, trust me, if somebody who has said something that
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: you can never allegedly come.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Back from, trust me, I know what I'm saying. Oh, no, no, no,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: you can't. You got a different kind of job, right?
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Like accidentally going too far down that is part of
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: your job, not doing so.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: No, he said something, knowing full well what he said,
- 1:05:44Speaker 5: people misinterpreted what I said.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just saying, he's never getting that one back.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Whenever this goes bad or doesn't go well enough.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: That's going to be the first line.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: It's always going to come back. It's unfortunate. Him saying
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: that analytically we're up is right up there with Rob Maffrey,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: commissioner of baseball, referring to the World Series trophy as
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a hunk of metal. I understood his point, but they
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: ain't never, ever, ever going to forget it.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: No, I mean, look, it's Cleveland. What else they got?
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: Why is it in Cleveland?
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I honestly don't know the answer to that question.
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Of all the places to put it, like maybe, you know, look,
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Detroit is Hitsville, Detroit is Motown, but it started there.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. You wouldn't put it there if it
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: didn't start there.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I honestly have never asked that question and never gotten
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: to the bottom of it, but I'm not going to
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: say anything mean to those people because.
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: Hey, they on the high right now. They got D-Nasty.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: They are Nasty D. Oh, excuse me. Well, D-Nasty because
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: they in first place. He be Nasty D when they
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: get out of there. But, hey, man, it's Vinny Goodwill.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Check him out on ESPN covering the NBA. He will
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: be the person cheering the loudest when that banner go
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: up in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: That's me. That's me.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you're going to be looking like the Rocket Down
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Awards show in that meme.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: Like Morgan Freeman when Denzel won the Oscar.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: Just stand it up.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Damn. That's right. It's about time. Appreciate you, brother. Ladies
