Latest / He's Hot but Something's Off... / HHBSO 6: I Got In a (minor) Car Accident
Transcript
- 0:01Hello, welcome to he's hop as something's off of me, just Joey
- 0:04T. It is not clickbait that I put
- 0:08that I was in a car accident for this podcast nor was a plan.
- 0:11I mean, no one ever plans to crash but yeah, it's something
- 0:16to talk about for the podcast. I guess so.
- 0:21Got into a minor car accident. It was kind of like a fender
- 0:25bender. It wasn't anything super
- 0:27serious. This was it's Saturday night.
- 0:32I was on my way to go somewhere for Pride weekend.
- 0:35It was LE Pride this weekend, we'll get into that and it
- 0:39wasn't like a major accident. No one was hurt.
- 0:42It was like a low-speed thing but it was like, it wasn't like
- 0:48a fender bender. Like per se were like, oh, like
- 0:51it was like a very gentle. Like, tap, you know, minor top
- 0:56on the bumper. It was like the area that was,
- 0:58like, on the driver's side like above.
- 1:00Bill. And there was like a definite
- 1:02like shunt that I felt but it wasn't like a super, like, you
- 1:05know, forceful impact or anything.
- 1:08But yeah, that was eventful and did you drive for any amount of
- 1:14time, you know, once you've been driving for like 10 15, 20
- 1:18years, the odds are that you eventually get into some sort
- 1:22of, hopefully very minor accident.
- 1:24You know, maybe like something in the parking lot.
- 1:27Like very low speeds. Hopefully, we're alike.
- 1:28You know, damages Very low and like, no one is hurt for sure.
- 1:34But it was, I don't know. I knew what to do when I got in
- 1:40the accident is very much, don't talk about it.
- 1:44Discuss what happened? Who was a faulty beer or get
- 1:47into some sort of car accident on the road?
- 1:50Pull over somewhere. Safe.
- 1:52You know, when you meet the other driver, don't talk about
- 1:56fault. Don't discuss what happened?
- 1:58Just be as calm. And just professional and polite
- 2:02as possible. Exchanged information, license
- 2:05registration, driver's license. Contact information.
- 2:09Take Hunter, votos record the location.
- 2:12Grab videos of, like, where you are of, like, damage on your
- 2:15car, damage in their car, all that stuff.
- 2:17So pretty much did that? Except that little bit dark of
- 2:20sleep more difficult and I wasn't super stressed about the
- 2:27like ordeal of it. I I would like to think I'm one
- 2:31of those people where when something bad kind of happens,
- 2:35you know, you get into like a fender bender or like, I don't
- 2:39know, the power goes out or that kind of stuff, I don't know.
- 2:42Your drains backing up. My dream was backing up this
- 2:44morning, we'll get into that. I like, you think I'm one of
- 2:48those people where I stay pretty calm, and very much the part of
- 2:55my brain. That's very like, okay, we need
- 2:57a solution right now. We need to do ABC, D in this
- 3:00exact order that part of my brain kind of leaps into action.
- 3:05So basically the moment that I felt that I got hit or whatever
- 3:13and I was like, okay where a car accident, my brain very quickly
- 3:16was like, okay, pull over summer save, turn your flashers on.
- 3:20Stay calm. Don't talk about fault with the
- 3:22other driver exchange, your registration, the get their
- 3:27license plate and their drivers license, all that kind of stuff
- 3:29was. Free like automatic in my head
- 3:33so I guess that's, yeah, that, that was helpful to have that
- 3:37part of the brain, just like, kick in.
- 3:38It could be very traumatic, obviously, when you get into a
- 3:41car accident or any type of accident, but anyways, no one's
- 3:46hurt. That was the best thing but I
- 3:49did remember the one part that this trust me out, not the
- 3:51ordeal I've ever like the act of like taking care of being in a
- 3:54car accident, calling up the Insurance Exchange in the info
- 3:57and, like, all that stuff was like, very just like Autopilot
- 4:00in my head and I was just like, just doing it.
- 4:03Only part where I was stressed, was so any for the other driver
- 4:07to find their registration and all the paperwork and all that
- 4:12stuff, and I was just like, standing on the street, like
- 4:15waiting for them to like, get their papers and then I was
- 4:19thinking, oh my God, like, in my head I was thinking, oh my God,
- 4:25like, did I do something wrong was I somehow at fault or
- 4:28whatever? So that was like, the only
- 4:31stressful part, because I guess, anytime you get into some sort
- 4:34of Acts or something bad happens, where you involve, your
- 4:36always thinks there's some part in your head that always thinks.
- 4:40Oh my god, did I contribute to that bad thing happening, right?
- 4:45I think it's a very natural human thought to have when
- 4:49something bad happens to you, but I don't think it's a smart
- 4:52idea for me to talk about the accident in any more detail on
- 4:58this podcast, that goes out, To the public internet.
- 5:03But suffice it to say, I talk to my insurance agent, adjuster
- 5:08whatever that department is. And I'm pleased with the current
- 5:15progress with which everything is going.
- 5:19And I'm pleased that my insurance agent and I agree on a
- 5:22lot of the points. I will just leave it at that but
- 5:28yeah, it was Well, that was an inconvenience.
- 5:33Basically the the real headache is I was actually trying to shop
- 5:38for a new car. Last week I mentioned, I was
- 5:41talking to like a whole bunch of different car dealerships and
- 5:44how they were a pain in the ass to deal with.
- 5:46Well, basically, now I found a broker basically that deals with
- 5:53different car dealerships that they have contacts before they
- 5:56contract with somehow. I don't fully know how that
- 5:58works for like a car broker when you go through.
- 6:00But basically, I just put in a custom order for a car.
- 6:04I was trying to find a particular model of a car that
- 6:08was already on a dealer's lot and I was being flexible with
- 6:12like the options and colors and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:15But basically going through this broker, I'm able to specify
- 6:18exactly what options have features should be on the car
- 6:22that I want. And I won't pay anything extra
- 6:24for the features that I don't want.
- 6:27I could depict the color of the exterior I could pick the
- 6:31interior color, you know, is that the exact model that I
- 6:34want? And through this broker, I'm
- 6:37actually getting a pretty good deal in terms of like what the
- 6:39numbers look like for the lease. And it was basically sleeping on
- 6:43the internet. There are a lot of car forums
- 6:46for pretty much, every type of car that you can think of, from
- 6:50like a Corolla or like a Civic. There are like fan, boys and
- 6:54girls out there for like every model and make of car that you
- 6:59can think of I'm so I was doing some research on the internet.
- 7:04I was just looking up information on that particular
- 7:06model of car that I wanted found the forum for that particular
- 7:09model and then there's an ordering section repeat were
- 7:12discussing their experience with buying that car and then came
- 7:15across this broker in California that handle all of these form,
- 7:22readers orders and they were really happy.
- 7:24So I just went through this person and seem to be pretty
- 7:27legit that I have to wait a couple of months.
- 7:30For the new car to eventually arrived from wherever it's
- 7:33built. So, not a great deal but in the
- 7:36meantime, I need to figure out, okay, I've got to, like, damage
- 7:38on my car, is now worth a lot less, no one really wants to buy
- 7:42a used car that has been in an accident, whenever you try to
- 7:45sell your car to like a dealer or like.
- 7:49Whoever a common question to ask is, has your vehicle been in an
- 7:53accident. I can no longer say no to that
- 7:55question now. And even if everything was
- 7:58repaired 100%, You still have that blemish on the record of
- 8:02the vehicle and that usually brings down the value of the
- 8:05car. So I'm setting myself really low
- 8:09expectations for how much I'm going to get for the car.
- 8:13My insurance is going to pay me for what they think the damage
- 8:18would cost to repair. I need to bring the car to like
- 8:22a repair shop or dealer or something, and just have them at
- 8:24least appraise the car for them to tell me to get a third party
- 8:29to paying on how much they think the repairs would cost and how
- 8:33much less the car is worth now. Now that it has an accident in
- 8:38its history, so that part will be a little stressful.
- 8:42I want to get the maximum dollar out of the car.
- 8:45Just the old card is sell it but at the same time it's like
- 8:49sometimes I just want things to be done with, like sometimes I
- 8:52feel like things are not worth the stress, the mental stress of
- 8:58like, oh We have to, like, fix the car.
- 9:02We have like the maximum dollars out of the insurance.
- 9:04People what the insurance people are trying to like, you know,
- 9:08take you for a run and they're not giving you any where near
- 9:11what the repair cost should be. Now you need to take it to like
- 9:14your own body shop to get it appraised whether that body shop
- 9:17isn't good now you got to start shopping around for like
- 9:20different body shops that make sure you get one that's going to
- 9:22fix it properly. And you know what, if like all
- 9:25the way over there like a shady repair shop that you don't know,
- 9:27until I get in too deep, they have your car with in All this
- 9:30kind of stuff is the stress that I don't want.
- 9:34So I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with this car yet.
- 9:37I would love to just like sell it to like some dealer with the
- 9:39damage and for them to just like knock.
- 9:42Hopefully maybe only like a few thousand dollars off.
- 9:46So yeah that's the part where I got a couple months to figure it
- 9:49out before the new car comes with this old car what to do.
- 9:54So I'm a car person I do care about cars but it's like I don't
- 9:59know. I just I just want this car to
- 10:03be gone. I should really like the car
- 10:04that I have, but lift like this ordeal and everything, it's just
- 10:09like, okay, just like someone took the car like, I don't care
- 10:13about to get less money for it. Just take it and like just get
- 10:16rid of it. And then I'm just going to get
- 10:17the new car when it comes and then like it'll all be done.
- 10:20So that's the stress that I have for that, which is not so much
- 10:26fun in. But again, the point thing is
- 10:28nobody got hurt. Supreme mine accident, my
- 10:31insurance is taking good care of me and yeah, there we go.
- 10:36Something interesting that happened this past weekend,
- 10:39other interesting things that happened this past weekend.
- 10:42It is La pride and I didn't went to too many parties.
- 10:48There's obviously Milling parties are going on.
- 10:50All my friends were out. I went to two parties for our
- 10:53product. The first one I went to was the
- 10:56pool party on the rooftop of the end as hotel, which is a One a
- 11:00hotel in West Hollywood. See, so close to my place that I
- 11:03just walked. There was like a ten minute
- 11:05walk. It's really, really short.
- 11:07The weather was not very good this past weekend in Los
- 11:10Angeles. So it was like 68 or 70 degrees
- 11:15and it was just like overcast. So I was afraid that not many
- 11:21people would want to go to a pool party when it's not that
- 11:24warm, and it's cloudy. But when I got there, it was
- 11:28fairly full. Ashley It's not like the biggest
- 11:32rooftop pool, so it doesn't take Ashley that many people to like,
- 11:35fill it up, but like, I ran into some people, so it actually
- 11:39turned out to be pretty fun. There were times where the seam,
- 11:42the sun was peeking through a little bit, which was great.
- 11:45It still wasn't warm, but it was warm enough that you can wear a
- 11:48Speedo and not feel cold until around.
- 11:51Like, I don't know, 5:00 or so, like an hour before they start
- 11:55closing, got like a little chilly, a little windy, and a
- 11:57couple of my friends were like shivering.
- 11:59And that's basically my clue to just like leave the party, but
- 12:04it was overall a relatively fun and then that night was GPS.
- 12:10So that's when I was driving, the GPS.
- 12:12GPS is gay party Saturday's which is kind of like a local
- 12:16production circuit party thing, and GPS throws circuit parties,
- 12:23for most like, special weekends, and long long holiday weekend.
- 12:27So, obviously, for our pride, they have Had a circuit party is
- 12:31pretty much always at this Globe Theater, that's downtown when
- 12:35you do it on Saturday nights and I was on my way to GPS when I
- 12:39had the car accident. So after the car accident, I was
- 12:43like, oh you know what? Like I've had enough for like
- 12:47one day, maybe I should just go home.
- 12:50So like I started driving home and I was like you know what,
- 12:55maybe a part it would be good to like take my mind off of it for
- 12:58right now. I probably wouldn't have.
- 13:00I've slept very well but I just like gone straight to bed
- 13:02anyway. So I end up going to GPS for
- 13:05like just a couple hours. It was like cute parties, that
- 13:08go go dancers that GPS always like, very, very hot and me my
- 13:11friends, we were like, kind of we happen to be dancing at the
- 13:15front of the dance. For me.
- 13:16Got a show that was put on good shows at GPS actually.
- 13:21Yeah, but in the Go-Go's are very hot.
- 13:22So that's actually all I did. I didn't do anything on Sunday
- 13:25because after the car accident and then GPS.
- 13:30I was on there for like a couple hours because I like 132, I was
- 13:33like, you know what, like, I've had enough fun for tonight.
- 13:35I'm just gonna like go rest. So, the only thing I did on
- 13:39Sunday was just like, take it easy all the bars and everything
- 13:43we ho were obviously open. I thought about maybe going to
- 13:46heart because I know it's not friends are going to hard down
- 13:48in the we whole world, the bars are but I was like, you know
- 13:52what? This is like an author that just
- 13:54gonna have like a little Mini vacation day, where like I don't
- 14:00have any expectations to do anything productive.
- 14:03And I just get to like, sit on the couch and like, not worry
- 14:07about anything, just like cutting myself, a little bit of
- 14:09brake after what happened the night before.
- 14:12So there you go, that's fun. You know, what's not fun when
- 14:17stuff in your house dies and you have to like go emergency by
- 14:21something like hop in the car and like Drive summer
- 14:24immediately, because Cuz there's like something in your house
- 14:28that you are so dependent on that.
- 14:30If that thing happens to die, you didn't a new one right away.
- 14:35The last time I did, that was the toaster oven, which I killed
- 14:40when I tried to clean it. You get oven cleaner stuff that
- 14:42can spray into your oven. I sprayed it into my toaster
- 14:45oven may be sprayed a little too much and it wouldn't power on
- 14:49anymore. And I have to emergency by at
- 14:54the Best Buy or a Target or Thing a replacement toaster
- 14:57oven, because I use my toaster oven every single day.
- 15:02It's how I cook most of my meals and the Pauper oven in my house
- 15:07doesn't get any use. I don't think I've ever used any
- 15:12of the full-size ovens and any of the houses I've lived in by
- 15:15myself ever. When I used to have roommates,
- 15:22my good friend, Charles we moved up to San Francisco together,
- 15:26Other in 2015. And he likes to cook meals when
- 15:32it's like a special holiday, like, for Thanksgiving and
- 15:34stuff. He would like try to cook
- 15:36fancier things and he would use the like, full-size oven in our
- 15:39kitchen, but it was just me, I would like never touch it to
- 15:42cook a meal for one to heat up that entire thing.
- 15:46First of all, it takes forever. Second Use of tons of energy
- 15:49third, heats up like the entire kitchen if not like the entire
- 15:53apartment. It's basically like running a
- 15:55massive furnace to cook. Like one single piece of chicken
- 15:58breast so I just never use it for that reason.
- 16:02I don't cook big meals. If I ever want to have, like, a
- 16:05big meal with friends. I'm not a cook.
- 16:08Like, I would be the last person to cook for other people like
- 16:14they will cook and they will host, or we will go out or, you
- 16:17know, what will we just order delivery?
- 16:19Like, I'm not really a cook. So I'm not going to like, go big
- 16:22something. So yeah, that's the last time I
- 16:25went out an emergency. He bought something literally an
- 16:29hour ago, I was at the Best Buy. Now for a toaster oven because
- 16:34my streaming box for my TV just like I was watching something,
- 16:39let's playing and it just like out of nowhere died.
- 16:42I try to like, reboot it and do all that stuff, do a reset and
- 16:46then it just like completely died.
- 16:49So this is like, you know, when you have like a streaming stick
- 16:51like a Roku or Google one or like a Fire TV, like that's the
- 16:55streaming. I said, I have, I have a Google
- 16:57one and it just died, but it lasted six years so it's
- 17:01actually had a good run. And I remember a few weeks ago,
- 17:05it was flickering a little bit and then I rebooted it and then
- 17:09it was okay. I'm like, okay, it's just
- 17:11whatever earlier today. I did have a power outage for
- 17:13like 30 seconds. So maybe that was like the final
- 17:17hammer on the nail on the coffin of that thing.
- 17:19You just couldn't take another power outage or whatever and
- 17:23then it just decided to fry itself.
- 17:25So it Is 830 the best by nearby closes at 9:00.
- 17:30So, like hop right into car, like, Chow Down my dinner, just
- 17:34like shoved it down my mouth, it's like I must fix this before
- 17:38I go to bed tonight. So drove down to the best by had
- 17:41to wait, like 10 minutes for them to like grab the inventory
- 17:45from the back, more stores are doing this thing where they
- 17:47don't put the items on the Shelf, there's like a QR code,
- 17:51or to scan, or the ask someone if you want to buy that thing
- 17:55because they keep all the stuff. The back.
- 17:57So the way 10 minutes for them to do that and then I drove back
- 18:00home plugged it in and it took forever to set up and it's like
- 18:04downloading some updates right now.
- 18:05So after I record this podcast, I will go play with a new Google
- 18:10Chromecast thingamajig. Yeah.
- 18:13But my life is very, very glamorous car accidents and
- 18:19being unemployed being on a career break and yeah, having to
- 18:24go to Best, Buy to emergency by Why?
- 18:26Google Chromecast thing. So, I can keep sitting on my ass
- 18:30in my living room to keep watching TV.
- 18:34Oh, I've been watching lately is HGTV, so I usually don't have
- 18:39cable or anything like that. I don't have a lot of the
- 18:44streaming services because I don't watch that much content.
- 18:49I probably create more content than I watch, usually, but I'll
- 18:53watch stuff on YouTube. My Recommendations, the homepage
- 18:58is right now, a mix of cars. Very has like RuPaul's Drag Race
- 19:06related videos and some history documentaries on various like
- 19:13Wars. But I was watching a whole bunch
- 19:14of documentaries on the first world war and Kpop music videos.
- 19:20It's a very, very weird mix as you're scrolling through there.
- 19:26Recommend a section that pops up to the top on the TV and the
- 19:29YouTube app of like, oh, like the the Great War and oh talk
- 19:35about tanks in one video. The next one is like Kpop video
- 19:40and then the third one is like some sort of car review.
- 19:42It's very, very weird make. So the algorithms are clearly at
- 19:46work there but in other news in a week or so I'm going to be
- 19:55going to York. So I plan to go to New York for
- 19:59New York Pride that's coming not this weekend but it's going to
- 20:03be the weekend after. So this goes up on a Thursday,
- 20:07it will be like little bit over a week from when this goes up
- 20:12that weekend is the New York Pride.
- 20:14I was going to go on Wednesday, the Wednesday or Thursday before
- 20:21Pride weekend and get to New York then stay for like, five
- 20:24days. I will leave on Monday.
- 20:26Yeah, but I decided randomly very randomly today, and I'm not
- 20:30usually that impulsive of a person.
- 20:32Usually, every trip I have is planned, like, way in advance
- 20:36research, all the flights. What are the best days to go and
- 20:39all that kind of stuff? Very randomly today, I was like
- 20:44preparing breakfast and I just had a thought.
- 20:47Excuse me, I just had a thought. I think, I want to just get
- 20:51there earlier and just spend the full week before Pride weekend.
- 20:56Just in New York not to party or anything but just like be in New
- 21:00York just to have a change of scenery.
- 21:03I am sitting on my ass a lot at home right now.
- 21:08So I think the change of scenery will maybe do me a little bit of
- 21:11good and I was in the very back of ahead kind of have this like
- 21:18funky idea like it would be kind of fun to live in New York for
- 21:23like a few months. And that's not really because I
- 21:29would want to do anything in particular, that's New York
- 21:32specific. It was just kind of like, maybe
- 21:35I just want to like, go live somewhere else for like a while
- 21:37and it would be really cool to say.
- 21:41Oh, I've lived in New York for expert of time, even though I
- 21:45don't think I could live in New York permanently.
- 21:47I don't think I can take how cold the winters are.
- 21:51I am not a fan of all the storms that hit the East Coast, the
- 21:55close, as I got was I lived in d.c. for like little over a year
- 21:59in like 2012, 2013. And that was the same winter
- 22:04storm season where we had Sandy come through.
- 22:09It didn't hit DC like that bad. We had like brownouts and we had
- 22:15like, a bit of snow, but it wasn't like when New York got
- 22:19hit by Sandy that storm season and like everything was flooding
- 22:23and I was just like, super, super bass-o-matic lucky that we
- 22:25weren't in New York for that. But yeah.
- 22:28So, I'd like this morning spent like a couple hours but after
- 22:32research Everything For Better or Worse, you know, the better
- 22:36is that I researched that buying car.
- 22:38I was just buying the new car so much that.
- 22:41Oh, like, I found this broker and I'm saving like at least
- 22:44like a few thousand dollars on the car if not more and like I
- 22:48was, you know, going to get the exact color that I want enough
- 22:51to. I just pick something that was
- 22:52pre-made, so sometimes it's good.
- 22:55But sometimes, We sir so much that it sucks up a lot of my
- 22:58time and it does it really yield that much more as a result of
- 23:05spending all the extra time and effort.
- 23:07But this spent like an hour or two this morning playing around
- 23:10with like different flights and like oh if I use my points here
- 23:14then I couldn't use my points for like potential trip to
- 23:18Europe for like August. So what if like I don't use my
- 23:21points to go to New York, I just find a cheapest flight and then
- 23:25I'll save the Points to go to Europe.
- 23:27But am I saving enough points to even do Europe on points?
- 23:31It gets really, really complicated.
- 23:33If you're into like miles and points and things like that from
- 23:37like Airline programs at hotel programs, and credit cards and
- 23:41stuff. I'm like, eight intermediate,
- 23:46kind of person in terms of like the miles and points the credit
- 23:50cards and that kind of stuff. There are other people that are
- 23:52like way more into it and they'll like all the tricks
- 23:55Redemption, All that kind of stuff.
- 23:57I'm like, kind of intermediate, I've got a variety of credit
- 24:01cards that all earn points and I kind of sort of know what credit
- 24:06cards you to use to buy certain things like when I was at the
- 24:09best. Buy an hour ago, I was like,
- 24:11okay, for this type of purchase, which credit card would give me
- 24:14the most points. So, whenever I buy anything,
- 24:17there's always that calculation in my head, that's like, okay,
- 24:20I'm getting groceries. I have to be this credit card.
- 24:22Okay, if I'm at a gas station, has to be this other credit
- 24:24card. Oh, it's a restaurant.
- 24:26It To be this third credit card, it's a whole thing.
- 24:29Yeah, but I was spending a couple hours doing that this
- 24:32morning, but basically, a up was, yeah, I moved on my flight.
- 24:37I'm going to leave for New York on Saturday or Sunday.
- 24:41I can't remember. Now, I spent two hours doing
- 24:42something, kind of remember when my flight is, is recorded
- 24:45somewhere. It'll be fine, but I'm leaving
- 24:46this weekend to go down to New York.
- 24:48I'll be there for like eight or nine days total and I'm gonna
- 24:53come back the Monday after New York Pride.
- 24:56Back to LA, I'll coming back that night, but I'm only going
- 24:59to be back in l.a., like, not even 24 hours because choose.
- 25:05They, after that, we can, I'm going to fly down to Chicago.
- 25:09That's a friend that I haven't hung out with in, like, many
- 25:13years. I think the last time I hung out
- 25:15with them, was legit 2015 or 2016.
- 25:21I think I've seen him, like, maybe once or twice after that.
- 25:26That I like a random house party, but like, I've literally
- 25:29have not seen him in like a very, very long time and we're
- 25:32going to Chicago because we're going to see the twice concert
- 25:36maybe don't know who twice is. Choice is a pretty popular Kpop
- 25:42girl group. You're not as popular in the US
- 25:46as like black pink. Like everyone knows black pink
- 25:49but in Asia and obviously, in South Korea, tries is like,
- 25:54extremely popular. And In the sense that everybody
- 25:58knows who tries is. So I'm a big fan of twice and so
- 26:02is he said the only friend I know that it's like a really big
- 26:04fan of this particular group. So he had tickets.
- 26:09He bought two tickets to the Trice concert in Chicago.
- 26:14You just live in Chicago. He lives in Summer.
- 26:18That's not Chicago but he's gonna be in Chicago for a work
- 26:21thing for like a month or so. And when he found out from work
- 26:25that that they were going to send them to Chicago around the
- 26:29same time, went rice was going to do the concert in Chicago.
- 26:32He just went in like ramli, bought two tickets.
- 26:34He didn't know who he was going to go with but he just like
- 26:37randomly bought two to take his, he was gonna figure it out
- 26:39later. And then a few weeks ago, I was
- 26:42just posting something about twice on my Instagram and then
- 26:46he made a comment. Mint on it and he told me like,
- 26:48oh, you want to come to Chicago? Because I'd like a spare ticket.
- 26:53And I was like, yes. I want to come.
- 26:56They've actually been to La before David just in La for
- 26:58like, the third time in, like, 12 months, this girl group to do
- 27:04a concert, like, I think, literally, like last week, I
- 27:06think I saw on their Instagram that they were in like soulfire
- 27:10Arena, which is in SoCal to do a concert, but I don't want to go
- 27:14to like, a concert by myself. That's weird.
- 27:18And none of my friends in l.a. like care about Kpop in that
- 27:23way. And especially not about this
- 27:24particular group. And the LA concert tickets are
- 27:27like way more expensive because even just look at the pricing,
- 27:30but I had like people to go with their, like, for $500 to start
- 27:35for, like, not even very good seats.
- 27:38And then when my friend told me how much he paid for the Chicago
- 27:41concert tickets, there are like, 250 or 200, which is not cheap,
- 27:45but like he show me Me where we would be sitting and it was
- 27:48like, it's actually not bad seats for 250.
- 27:51You would never be able to have Cesar with that good for
- 27:54anywhere near that price. That those tickets would be like
- 27:57three times the cost to be went to the Elway concert I guess,
- 28:01you know, more demand and la and everything.
- 28:03So yeah, someone to look forward to be a lot of traveling would
- 28:08be in New York for a whole week and it in Chicago for at least a
- 28:12few days and that would take us over to July, okay?
- 28:17Now to wrap it up as always I like to chat a little bit about
- 28:20RuPaul's Drag ways some Stars season 8, the latest episode
- 28:25that just aired this past weekend would it be episode 6
- 28:28and I have like a ton of notes but I've got a couple of bullet
- 28:32points here. So the challenge this week was
- 28:35Joan the rusical I think that was the name but it was supposed
- 28:38to be all about Joan Crawford was like the theme, right?
- 28:42And it was a rusical and in the challenge, no one did That
- 28:47everyone did like pretty good, you know, in a lot of challenges
- 28:50especially when it's like not All-Star season you'll see
- 28:54there's like one or two queens that stumble a little bit even
- 28:58if they didn't like fall flat on their face but in all-stars
- 29:02everyone is a star some stars and you know no one did bad like
- 29:07everyone did pretty good in the challenge itself.
- 29:10The runways though, there were some burgers on the runway some
- 29:14of the roadways clearly we're just not As good as the other
- 29:18some of the outfits, some of the looks were just not as good as
- 29:20some of the other looks ever presented.
- 29:22So, that's a thing. But the surprise for me was, and
- 29:27I was watching the show with David lamb candy pick James has
- 29:32lipstick to go home. So when I was watching the
- 29:35episode and I saw that it's going to be Khanna and James in
- 29:40the bottom, it was hard to kind of know whether they deserve to
- 29:45be in the bottom again. Everyone was like so Good.
- 29:47But basically, you know, based on the challenge and also like
- 29:50the runways, I guess, I agree. I didn't have any problems with
- 29:54who was picked to be the in about who was picked to be in
- 29:57the bottom. But I thought once, I knew that,
- 30:02those two were in the bottom, in my head, I thought immediately,
- 30:05oh, come on is going home, but to track record and Dave, and I
- 30:09talked about this before where from the point of view of one of
- 30:13the girls, in a competition that has to draw lipsticks if one of
- 30:16the Them girls you have to choose, is has a much worse
- 30:22track record than the other? Like a Hannah?
- 30:25She's been the bottom multiple times and James.
- 30:27I don't think James has been in the bottom before.
- 30:29Maybe only one time can has been the bottom like three times and
- 30:32dislike her third or fourth time in the bottom.
- 30:36At this particular episode, it's very easy for the other queens
- 30:41to pick you and just claim track record, right?
- 30:44Because when they review, who voted for, who Who in the next
- 30:47episode? If your story is, I picked
- 30:50Hannah because of track record. All the other queens would be
- 30:54like, okay, fair right? You know, you're not getting any
- 30:56backlash, you're not going to get backlash for picking the
- 30:59queen with the worst track record.
- 31:01Assuming they didn't do like cynically worse in the challenge
- 31:07because of the two bottom Queens.
- 31:09One of them clearly did worse than the other one in the
- 31:11challenge. That's where you can say.
- 31:13Oh, I pick that person because they did worse.
- 31:16Even if I didn't have a bad track record or the other bottom
- 31:19Queen had it much worse track record, right?
- 31:23I think maybe the Queen's thought, Kahana did worse.
- 31:30When I was watching it with David.
- 31:32We didn't think that Kahana was really like that much worse in
- 31:36the challenge. I think it argue she did the
- 31:40worse but I don't think it was like so much worse that it
- 31:43necessarily, you know. Yeah, but James, I felt did
- 31:51pretty decent. So I was thinking like, well,
- 31:54Kahana, like James did at least as well as Kana for me in the
- 32:00main challenge. Jane says, Runway was worse but
- 32:04like Hannah has the track record.
- 32:06So like in my head it was like, kind of gonna go.
- 32:09No question. So the fact that candy pick
- 32:12James is listed to go home. I like gay gasps.
- 32:15I was like, huh. I can't believe it like candy is
- 32:19just getting rid of the competition and then as I
- 32:23thought about it more and I talked to David Moore, it could
- 32:25be that based on last week's drama between Heidi and candy,
- 32:31and Jimbo, and all that. I think candy and probably Jim
- 32:35board thinking like, we're we're on the chopping block if we ever
- 32:41get into the bottom because, you know, the other girls who want
- 32:45to get rid of Of me or like, you know, like either candy or Jimbo
- 32:50if they ever land on the bottom because they're the kind of sort
- 32:53of winning things and their competition.
- 32:56Basically right eliminate the competition and the name of the
- 32:59game is to get to the top, right?
- 33:00So it'll be interesting to see what happens in the future.
- 33:05Like who wins or loses and who's in a top and the bottom if this
- 33:10comes back to like like someone like candy can get like Manila
- 33:13basically, but the Testing thing I saw is that they actually
- 33:19showed who everyone voted for. I think in the untucked I think
- 33:23where they show in the in the two-way mirror, who everyone
- 33:27else folded for and everyone voted for James as well.
- 33:32So I was like, is there something about James?
- 33:36That wasn't super obvious in the episode that made every single
- 33:39queen pick James to go home and not Kahana.
- 33:43But I thought me and David thought, everyone's going to
- 33:45pick Hannah? We've asked me unanimous and
- 33:48like they showed everyone's lipstick who they picked in the
- 33:52Antarctic and everyone pick James.
- 33:54So is there like an alliance thing kicking in or is there
- 34:03some sort of relationship that grows have content that don't
- 34:05have James or whatever it is? Well for her part James didn't
- 34:08seem like bitter or super surprise somehow.
- 34:12So this could also be just like when I'm watching TV and I'm Not
- 34:16painful, attentions very easy for me to be watching something
- 34:19and eventually like I'll be on my laptop or I'll be on my
- 34:22phone. This is actually very common.
- 34:24So maybe I missed something comment on my Instagram or my
- 34:28the YouTube comments or something.
- 34:30If I missed something that makes this whole thing, make more
- 34:34sense but yeah and that the preview for next week show a
- 34:38little bit of a preview for some more drama going down in the
- 34:42workroom like someone was going to try to leave or something.
- 34:45It kind of sort of Suggested that in the preview for next
- 34:49week's episode which I'll be having lots of fun.
- 34:53Maybe watching on the plane to New York.
- 34:55It's like five or six hours. I need to take two planes to get
- 34:59to New York and I need to kill some on a time so maybe I'll
- 35:03just download and watch it on the plane instead, but that's it
- 35:08for another episode of the podcast.
- 35:11Reminder that the video version of this podcast is on Spotify
