- Rodrik David @RightStepAdv: It's Tuesday here on Scouting the League, which means we are back for 2027 NFL Draft Scouting. And the prospect we're going to be looking at today comes from LSU. They may have hit a little road bump on their mark to the playoff, but I think certainly think they are going to be in the mix come the end of the year. Not a team I'm counting out. I think they will get some stuff fixed up. Part of that, they're left tackle. Jordan Seaton is a very good player today. We're going to talk Jordan, the positives. my concerns and where I think he ends up as we march on towards the 2027 NFL draft. So make sure you set your reminders for those the next two Wednesdays as we head towards the 2027 NFL draft. Again, make sure you check out that episode yesterday. Got on my soapbox, talked about development, what your team is doing and not doing to make sure they stay a step ahead of everybody else. Even the teams that do well are not doing enough. So again, we need to continue to push that development. Scouts, especially, listen. Let me know your thoughts. Again, got some good comments and feedback yesterday through the text message because again, NFL Scouts are a behind-the-scenes group. Love that. That is a big part of what they do. Somebody needs to be a voice for them. I'm working to do that. But today, it's all about the draft, all about true junior Jordan Seaton. Let's go ahead and take a look at him. So Jordan Seaton, again, a true junior first year at LSU. Again, see some big things at IMG Academy. Again, we're seeing more of those players. 6'5, 311 listed. Again, played in his freshman season, true freshman 2024 at Colorado, 2025 at Colorado as well. Missed a little bit of time with injury. Again, the injury stuff. Not only what the injury was, but how did he respond? What was he like in the training room? How did he respond mentally? What was the work he put in? And yeah, that's always that bigger part for NFL Scouts. It's not just what the injury is, it's football. Injury is gonna happen. How do you respond? What are you doing to take care of your body? So again, gonna be questions that Jordan Seaton answers. Again, was a big time prospect. Again, five-star prospect from IMG Academy. Again, the number one tackle in this class was a big get for Dion back when he was there at C CU, but again, now moved on to LSU as part of this roster that looks like it should be in the playoff coming of the year. If they can get a little consistent play from their quarterback, that's a whole different conversation though. So we're gonna focus on Jordan today. As we throw on the film, I've got some first downs from their last couple of games. Don't have the olmis olmis film ready. And I know he's getting beat up for that one. I think it's probably better than what some of these people out here are beating him up for. but again, we're gonna talk about the traits with a player like Jordan, high, high end traits. We're gonna want to check back in in on it on him at the end of the year. But again, I think there's gonna be plenty of good stuff to see for Jordan. Again, for O line, always talking about the big things. We're talking about initial quickness. We're talking about run blocking and pass blocking. We're talking about position, body position, hand speed, all that kind of good stuff. His hand use, his feet again go along with that. So again, where do we see Jordan? Where do I see Jordan when we start talking about these these traits that are going to allow him to play at the NFL level? Like I said, we've got high end traits. We've got a very athletic player. We've got a player that can do whatever is asked. and now it's just gonna be about cleaning is up, cleaning stuff up. Again, initial quickness, this guy's very good. This guy can play in a gap scheme. He's not necessarily the most powerful. We're gonna talk about that as we get into the run blocking, but he can absolutely get to position, he can play at the second level, he can get to angles, his initial quickness is very good. Now When he gets there, that is where I have issues. And I think it really comes from his core and hand strength, hip strength in there as well. That's where my concerns are with this player at this When he gets to position, he has a hard time maintaining leverage or in the zone scheme, starting to push it vertical from that good position. Again, that's one of those things I think there's probably more there. This is a player still developing with his body, but again, from his hips to his core to his hands. Again, you see it oftentimes with wrestlers, with throwers, shot and disc. Again, always those checkboxes NFL scouts have. You want to see everything working in unison with. Through their midsection here. And again, that's where I don't quite think Jordan plays consistently with that strength through the midsection. And as a result, you end up with a guy who's in position but loses leverage, loses position, loses his defenders who end up coming off and making the plays again. Something that can certainly be improved as he grows, as he ages, as he develops a little bit more power and strength. And again, sometimes just that understanding and ability to throw the hips, hands, and using his core to maintain maintain some of that. Again, run blocking. He's a good run blocker. I think he has the ability to be very good, though. Same thing in pass blocking. This guy really likes to use the under punch with a little bit of a forklift technique. Can he can be a little bit predictable with his hands, but again, vertical set, he can do that all day. He can match, he can work inside, outside. Much more of a true finesse left tackle, but again, is not afraid to take something, you know, take a take a bull rusher right down the middle, to play with some physicality. He's not gonna shy away from it. He's not gonna be finishing guys. He's not that big nasty left offensive tackle, a Taylor LeWan type guy. But again, this guy's going to be able to play at at least a good level, probably some very good snaps at a pass blocker, good foot quickness, good ability to use his hands. Now, again, just the technical side of it, again, can be a little bit predictable. But again, a young player continue to grow just his third year at the college level in a new system. I think it's going to continue to improve. And again, at the NFL level, if you have these traits, you're going to have plenty of opportunity to continue to hone them, to polish them up. again, we see it with all these first down snaps that we're watching now. Again, the ability to really do kind of whatever this offense asks. Again, when you start talking about hand use and feet, again, hand use, very inconsistent. His feet are going to take him wherever. He's got very good, maybe even excellent feet. This guy can really move. He has light feet, plays on the balls of his feet, plays down the field. He can really move, really match, really do a lot of good things. Again, whether it's a pass game, whether it's the run game. To make an offense work. And again, this guy is versatile for 32 teams. It doesn't matter what team, maybe a gap team. You still need a pass blocking. We'll call him a more finesse left tackle because you're going to protect plenty of times in the NFL. This guy's gonna fit for 32 teams. This guy's an upgrade probably for half the NFL teams. Again, this guy's going to be a grow player. Again, maybe some rough snaps early from a technical standpoint, but athletically. This guy is going to do it right. It's really kind of a flip side to what we see, what we know about Will Campbell, where Will was technical coming out, did a lot of things good, but the athleticism was the big question. Again, is he going to be able to match it with the athlet athleticism down the stretch? Of course, in 2025, we saw a lack of lower half strength show up where the technical had to be really correct. Again, it's a little bit of a flip here where Jordan has all the traits. He's gonna be able to be able to match. He's gonna be athletic. He's gonna be able to bend. But does the technical aspect that he's going to have to bring to the table to consistently beat good NFL rushers that are rushing that blind side? That's going to have to continue to improve. And we will see if it ultimately does. So let's take a look. Where do we see Jordan on the staff board? As we throw them up here again, I'm talking very good athletic ability, very good play speed. Again, from the competitiveness and football intelligence, I think it's both good. Again, durability missed a little time. Again, we'll clean that answer up for scouts. Scouts are going to make sure they get all that squared away production. Again, this is a guy that has very good traits. Again, we may end up seeing some excellent traits rise to the top as he continues to go through this year. But again, this is a first-round player. This is probably the first. and the most talented from just a raw trait standpoint, whether he ends up a top 10 or at the bottom of the first round, really will probably depend on how technically clean he is as the season goes. Again, does this guy have the right character, the right mindset, the right growth, the right grind in him to really improve on that to where week one of the 20 27 NFL season. This guy's ready to go play left offensive tackles. So again, when you start talking about elite traits, when you're talking about very good to excellent traits with that right character, this guy becomes an easy 1-0 type player. Again, sits at the top of my board for offensive tackles. Again, this guy has more ideals than Blake Frazier, who I think is a little bit grittier. Again, we'll see where Blake ends up if we're buffing him back to the 2028 with Gooseby. This guy's a more athletic, more twitchy player. Trevor, much more athletic, not quite as technically clean as Trevor is now. But again, when you have that elite traits, if the again, going back to the character for Jordan, if the character's right and you think you can get everything out of the talent, out of the traits that Jordan brings to the table, this becomes an easy top 10 NFL pick. And again, I think that's where he's gonna end up. They're just guys like this at left tackle that are 6'5, 307 plus, don't grow on trees. aren't you know there's not enough of them out there so you're gonna take your chance on these guys so again I think he's he's offensive tackle number one for me again this is a first round offensive tackle I think that's where it'll go now again LSU may pay him they may try to get him back we'll see where the season goes for LSU but this should be a first round pick in the 2027 NFL draft we'll see where it all goes. A lot to like a lot to improve and that character certainly going to be matter but again not just what I think what do you think where Is Jordan gonna go? Where is he gonna end up? What do you like? What do you dislike? Let me know over at Right Step ADV on Twitter. We're gonna have a nice discussion there, nice civil discussion on what we see with the traits. one of the big things that I'm gonna question for for Jordan Seaton is and for NFL teams probably more in general, are the scouts that are visiting LSU the same ones that are visiting Colorado? If not, you better have some conversations between these scouts about the character because there's gonna be stuff in Colorado. You're gonna want to ask an LSU. There's gonna be some LSU questions that, hey, we still gotta find out at Colorado. Got to ask those sources. This is where sharing information on top prospects who aren't going to have that much time here in Baton Rouge are going to need to know again the teams that are sharing information amongst scouts on these big-time transfer players. More important than ever to have some cohesion, some symmetry across the scouting staff, no matter how much you want to keep your guys in silos. It is going to be important. So again, that's going to be a big question some of these teams have. But what do you think? Let me know at right step eighty EV. We'll probably talk to Dane tomorrow about Jordan, see where he thinks he is next week with Jordan certainly as well. So make sure you're tuning in. Love talking prospects. Let me know who you want to hear next. Again, throw it in the comments either on this video or on Twitter. love talking ball. Make sure you join me every chance you get as we keep scouting.
