1713-Vitamin B2 Competition Drives T Cell Ferroptosis

T cells depend heavily on vitamin B2 uptake via the SLC52A3 transporter to maintain mitochondrial health and prevent cell death during immune responses. However, tumors exploit this metabolic pathway by upregulating SLC52A2 to aggressively scavenge vitamin B2, creating a hostile environment that starves T cells and triggers their ferroptosis. Researchers demonstrated that CAR-T cell therapy can be significantly reinforced by overexpressing SLC52A3 or providing dietary vitamin B2 supplementation, effectively overcoming this metabolic barrier to enhance antitumor efficacy.
