- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, good morning. It's
- 0:12Speaker 1: just me for now. Joakim's a little bit late. He'll
- 0:15Speaker 1: explain why in just a bit, but oh boy, it
- 0:17Speaker 1: feels good and strange to be back. I think I've
- 0:20Speaker 1: been away from work for what, 3 weeks. It's time
- 0:24Speaker 1: for us to catch up. All the details this morning.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Stay tuned. Singapore's number 1 hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Feels so weird to hear my voice again in the
- 0:34Speaker 1: headphones at work.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I mean, I know 3 weeks is, um, it's not
- 0:39Speaker 1: that long, right? I'm, I'm sure Joakim was going on
- 0:41Speaker 1: about how long it was, but do you remember when
- 0:43Speaker 1: he disappeared to Europe for 3 weeks last year and
- 0:47Speaker 1: it wasn't even his honeymoon? Ah, you see.
- 0:50Speaker 1: But I'm sure he wants to save the catch-ups for
- 0:52Speaker 1: when he gets here, which we're still awaiting his, His
- 0:55Speaker 1: Highness's arrival. I will let you know when he's here.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I think he's running a bit late today, but it's
- 1:01Speaker 1: good to be back. And when I stepped in here
- 1:03Speaker 1: this morning, I was like, do I even remember what
- 1:04Speaker 1: buttons to press, you know, because it's almost um second nature, right?
- 1:08Speaker 1: It's it's like breathing. Every morning we're doing, we're doing
- 1:11Speaker 1: the same thing, pressing the same buttons, but talking about
- 1:13Speaker 1: different stuff every day. So just thought how funny it
- 1:16Speaker 1: would be felt, yeah, ho, how funny it would feel.
- 1:19Speaker 1: To be um pressing all these buttons and faders again.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But it feels fine. Don't, don't worry, you're in safe hands.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Nothing's gonna go wrong. I love you, Alex Warren, but
- 1:29Speaker 1: I think we need to swap out that song for
- 1:31Speaker 1: this early in the morning next time. OK, move aside,
- 1:33Speaker 1: Alex Warren. Here's a voice I've not heard in 17 days. Hello.
- 1:38Speaker 1: And you know what, I just was on air earlier.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I said while we were waiting for His Highness, um,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I wanted
- 1:46Speaker 1: His Highness, I was hoping for our listeners to tell
- 1:48Speaker 1: me whether you're being very dramatic over the past three weeks.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Of course I was. Come on. Unfortunately, because it's June holidays,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I don't think anybody is awake right now. I mean,
- 1:57Speaker 1: if you're awake, you're more or less driving private hire vehicles, taxis,
- 2:02Speaker 1: or you're going to work. You got us a company
- 2:05Speaker 1: here on the short circuit for just one more day,
- 2:07Speaker 1: then I'm off.
- 2:08Speaker 1: To a holiday we're like, we're like two ships passing
- 2:11Speaker 1: in the night, you know. Yeah lah. I mean, I
- 2:13Speaker 1: could have gone on break today, but I was like
- 2:15Speaker 1: telling boss Janice, no, it's Sonia's first day back at work.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I want to welcome her and grill her about the
- 2:20Speaker 1: honeymoon and the wedding. It's because you miss me, la, right?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Who in the right mind will remove one day of
- 2:27Speaker 1: leave just to come back? I mean, miss you, lah,
- 2:29Speaker 1: yeah lah. Stop it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'm going to say hi to Mash who send us
- 2:33Speaker 1: a message. Let's go. Welcome back, Sonia. 987 wasn't quite
- 2:37Speaker 1: the same without your energy, laughter, and the vibes that
- 2:40Speaker 1: you and Joakim bring together. Welcome back. Yeah, there you go.
- 2:44Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah, but my, my question was, was
- 2:46Speaker 1: very dramatic? Somebody let me know. I mean, the, the first,
- 2:50Speaker 1: the 1st 3 days, lah. I was talking about how
- 2:53Speaker 1: much fun I had at your wedding.
- 2:56Speaker 1: How you were like, how I did not make the
- 2:58Speaker 1: after party. Yeah, this one, this one I need to
- 3:01Speaker 1: give you my perspective.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So, this is for later. Maybe at just past 7
- 3:06Speaker 1: or around 7:30 a.m. we'll have a proper catch up
- 3:08Speaker 1: where everyone's tuned in, people are awake the whole nation
- 3:12Speaker 1: is tuned in to us only. to the tea. Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 1: That's coming up later, but we just hope that you
- 3:18Speaker 1: have a good start to your morning. Speaking of very
- 3:20Speaker 1: long time, Sonia, got a piece and update coming your
- 3:23Speaker 1: way involving the old Clementi Stadium.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I did not even realize there was a Clementi Stadium. Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I never lived there. Yeah, find out what the update
- 3:36Speaker 1: is in just a while. Clementi Stadium could be popular
- 3:38Speaker 1: with you if you love doing your interval trainings or
- 3:41Speaker 1: your runs. OK, so, yeah, it's been around for very long.
- 3:46Speaker 1: It's an institution. It's almost as old as I am.
- 3:49Speaker 1: 00 wow. So but you've been there once, once, OK.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I mean a very long time ago and I was
- 3:56Speaker 1: seeing lives in Clementi and showed me around the area.
- 4:00Speaker 1: So if I, if I ever see in the west
- 4:02Speaker 1: or east, I'll be like you? People who live in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the Clementi area, if you love doing your workouts at
- 4:08Speaker 1: Clementi Stadium.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Do note that from July 7th, 2026, it will be
- 4:15Speaker 1: closed for almost 4 years for much-needed redevelopment works. Four
- 4:21Speaker 1: is considered quite long, right? I mean, look, Clementi.
- 4:24Speaker 1: It is very old and big 43 years it's been
- 4:29Speaker 1: there since 1983. So I just did a quick search
- 4:33Speaker 1: because I'm not familiar with the area um but I
- 4:36Speaker 1: went and searched it up and it's quite cute, you know,
- 4:39Speaker 1: there's been
- 4:40Speaker 1: There was a trend, I think back then when they
- 4:42Speaker 1: developed buildings and stuff to have it in these bright,
- 4:45Speaker 1: beautiful colors. Like it looks really retro and cool, like,
- 4:48Speaker 1: like something out of Stranger Things, you know. So if
- 4:50Speaker 1: you see the poster, it says a pause now, a
- 4:54Speaker 1: bigger play ahead, and I'm just gonna unofficially say this
- 4:57Speaker 1: Clementi Stadium, when it reopens, it could be the home
- 5:00Speaker 1: of Singapore's softball and baseball. Oh yeah, so we do
- 5:05Speaker 1: have teams representing softball and baseball. It's, it's very.
- 5:10Speaker 1: OK, but it's good to know that at least our
- 5:12Speaker 1: teams here have a home ground to train at, yes,
- 5:15Speaker 1: which will be the next Clementi Stadium. I've tried, um,
- 5:17Speaker 1: swinging a baseball bat before. I hit the air. I
- 5:21Speaker 1: didn't hit anything. No, you don't swing the bat. The
- 5:24Speaker 1: bat swings you. So rude, very rude, OK, but it's true.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It's true. There you go. You know what? I actually
- 5:30Speaker 1: wanted to do a quick search because I know sometimes
- 5:33Speaker 1: when we do, uh, songs in different languages or titles
- 5:36Speaker 1: that have different, you know, um, languages in it.
- 5:39Speaker 1: It sounds like die die, like not very good omen, right?
- 5:43Speaker 1: But what it actually means, it is apparently an enthusiastic
- 5:47Speaker 1: Italian expression meaning come on or let's go.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So before you jump to conclusions because you heard Die
- 5:56Speaker 1: die so many times during the song, it's actually a
- 5:59Speaker 1: good thing in Italian. I mean, the running joke is
- 6:01Speaker 1: for every World Cup, Shakira loses her ability to speak English.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It goes from waka waka to la la la and now.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You know, sounds. Anyway, we go from Shakira to what's
- 6:15Speaker 1: happening on board the Disney adventure. Wow, it's been months
- 6:18Speaker 1: since we've been on the first one. Yeah, I mean,
- 6:21Speaker 1: we had fun, but we are also very aware of
- 6:24Speaker 1: some people not feeling as if they got their money's
- 6:28Speaker 1: worth on board the Disney adventure.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I would say, OK, I'm not a cruise expert, but
- 6:33Speaker 1: I'm just wondering how long is a teething period considered
- 6:37Speaker 1: for a cruise, for example, like, you know, when you
- 6:39Speaker 1: launch a new plane or a new service.
- 6:43Speaker 1: It's only been 3 months. Yeah, I would say they're
- 6:47Speaker 1: ironing out, right? But the one thing I really applaud
- 6:49Speaker 1: Disney Adventure for is when they canceled all of the cruises. Well,
- 6:52Speaker 1: the compensation, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it was next level, man.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It's really cool. But, OK, this one, I think you
- 6:59Speaker 1: and I, Sonia, we kind of knew this would have
- 7:01Speaker 1: happened because during our preview cruise.
- 7:05Speaker 1: People were going for room service. They were ordering left, right,
- 7:09Speaker 1: and center to the point where I feel even the
- 7:11Speaker 1: servers and the staff themselves couldn't cope, right? Yeah, because
- 7:14Speaker 1: you're what, serving close to 4000, 5000 people who are
- 7:18Speaker 1: ordering room service. So to hopefully ease the flow of
- 7:22Speaker 1: room service orders, our friends on board the Disney Adventure
- 7:25Speaker 1: will now implement a US.
- 7:27Speaker 1: $5 delivery charge. OK, the food items are free, but
- 7:32Speaker 1: the delivery charge is $5. That's fair, I would say. See,
- 7:36Speaker 1: here's the thing, because when you get on a cruise, right,
- 7:39Speaker 1: for most people, the mentality is, OK, I already paid
- 7:42Speaker 1: for it. So I am entitled to take as much
- 7:45Speaker 1: and anything I want on the cruise, especially when it
- 7:48Speaker 1: comes to food, right?
- 7:49Speaker 1: Which also causes a lot of wastage if they really
- 7:51Speaker 1: can't finish it, but I'm guessing most people would just
- 7:54Speaker 1: want to try the entire room service menu. So I'm
- 7:56Speaker 1: just trying to get a date on when they will
- 7:59Speaker 1: implement the room service charge. Is it immediate, immediate effect?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Or does it say? Oh, you know what, June 4th. OK,
- 8:09Speaker 1: so that's in 2 days, the upcoming sale then on Thursday, yes. Yeah. Well,
- 8:13Speaker 1: just something to note in case you wonder why there's
- 8:15Speaker 1: an additional $5 charge to your room.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Anyway, about to play a Dua Lipa song. Congratulations, she's married.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Where you are worldwide, their hearts are broken. I know.
- 8:26Speaker 1: I heard hearts shattering everywhere, but she went for a
- 8:29Speaker 1: super classy, um, skirt suit, and she looked stunning. I was,
- 8:34Speaker 1: it was a little more elegant and conservative, but I
- 8:38Speaker 1: think it's because, you know, she only had her closest
- 8:40Speaker 1: family and friends there. It was a formal event where
- 8:43Speaker 1: they went to sign.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And they are now officially married. She looks so happy.
- 8:47Speaker 1: She looks great. I love her so much. In case
- 8:50Speaker 1: you just joined us, Joakim and I are only going
- 8:52Speaker 1: to be together for 1 day before he jets off.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So we're like, like I always say, we're 2 ships
- 8:57Speaker 1: passing in the night, man. No, again, I could have
- 8:59Speaker 1: gone on leave today, but given how you were away
- 9:02Speaker 1: for your honeymoon and then of course before your wedding,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I was like, no, you know, let's do one show together. I'm,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm very
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm sure if you're tuned in, you want to hear
- 9:11Speaker 1: us together for one day at least. I'm gonna grill
- 9:14Speaker 1: Sonia about the honeymoon and the wedding, and we'll share
- 9:18Speaker 1: more stories that you might not have read about. And
- 9:20Speaker 1: after this, I think enough about my wedding stuff already. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 1: In fact, I feel like, OK, you know, the perception is, oh,
- 9:29Speaker 1: Sonya must have invited all the media to her wedding. FYI,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I did not. OK. No, I didn't.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I didn't. I need to break this, um, assumption right now.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I really didn't. The only media that was there is
- 9:43Speaker 1: our friends over at 8 Days, yes, who's with Media Corp.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So that's why we're like, OK, you guys can come.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's funny because I said this the following Monday and
- 9:51Speaker 1: Tuesday after your wedding, right? I said all these other
- 9:53Speaker 1: news outlets are going and take and go and post. Yes, OK,
- 9:56Speaker 1: or they just took pictures from other people's posts. So
- 9:59Speaker 1: you need to understand how it works when sometimes, uh.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And I, and I say this very matter of factually, OK?
- 10:09Speaker 1: When a popular personality here in Singapore posts about his
- 10:12Speaker 1: or her life, it could be a personal thing. Yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 1: it could be a personal thing, yeah. Some of these
- 10:16Speaker 1: news outlets will take and share. We don't want it
- 10:19Speaker 1: to be shared on these news outlets. We don't.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Not that we don't want to. I think if there's
- 10:24Speaker 1: a good angle, that's great, right? But a lot of
- 10:27Speaker 1: the times you cannot control what the angle is. So
- 10:29Speaker 1: in the comment section, chill. Yeah, relax, guys. Guys, I
- 10:34Speaker 1: really did not. Anyway, this is a story for another
- 10:36Speaker 1: day for my therapist.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Um, but coming up, let's definitely catch up. You can
- 10:42Speaker 1: ask me all the questions you want, OK? I thought
- 10:44Speaker 1: I was a therapist. This one, free therapy sometimes works,
- 10:48Speaker 1: sometimes doesn't. It is Sonia and Joki, a special of
- 10:52Speaker 1: one day only in between our trips. Yeah, because I've
- 10:55Speaker 1: been saying this the whole of the past two weeks.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna grill you.
- 10:59Speaker 1: What's that to grill? I went on a honeymoon. It
- 11:01Speaker 1: was fun. OK, if you're tuned in here on 987,
- 11:05Speaker 1: chances are you enjoy the banter between me and Sonia,
- 11:08Speaker 1: and I take it as if you also want to know.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So let me ask Sonia the questions that you are
- 11:13Speaker 1: dying to ask her, but you can't reach her in
- 11:15Speaker 1: any way. So are you ready? Yes. First question.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So given how it was a honeymoon for two weeks, ah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: the factory working. Hey, can you, hello, it's 7:30 in
- 11:26Speaker 1: the morning. I mean, OK, just get it out of
- 11:29Speaker 1: the way, la, you know, will I be a go soon?
- 11:33Speaker 1: Let me enjoy my life for a while. OK, let
- 11:36Speaker 1: me enjoy the factory going through upgrading works right now.
- 11:41Speaker 1: OK, I just want, I want to enjoy my life
- 11:44Speaker 1: for at least I don't know, a 1 year or two.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Can I, can I? Can we move on now? Can
- 11:50Speaker 1: I quote your dad? He waited 70 years for this moment. OK,
- 11:53Speaker 1: he keeps saying that. I was like, Dad, you waited
- 11:55Speaker 1: since you were born, is it? He's like, Yeah, he
- 11:57Speaker 1: burst out laughing. So we, we, we've seen the pictures,
- 12:00Speaker 1: the videos, and all that. It, it really looked like
- 12:04Speaker 1: a honeymoon. Thank you. I mean, I actually, I didn't
- 12:07Speaker 1: post many things, um.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Just because I, I didn't feel a need to want
- 12:12Speaker 1: to log on to social media. I think I just
- 12:14Speaker 1: needed a break because there was a lot going on
- 12:16Speaker 1: and I think if you have ever gotten married before
- 12:19Speaker 1: or been through all that, there's actually a lot of
- 12:21Speaker 1: emotions after the wedding, you know. I don't, I didn't
- 12:24Speaker 1: realize that and I was very emotional for a few days.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I heard the south of France a wine because the
- 12:32Speaker 1: only Asian people.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we went to South of France and it was
- 12:36Speaker 1: the most chill, fun. I think it was my favorite
- 12:39Speaker 1: trip with him, um, if I, if I look back
- 12:41Speaker 1: at all of our trips. I think this was our
- 12:43Speaker 1: favorite one. I'm saying this. Can you give us more details? What,
- 12:47Speaker 1: what other things you want to ask me? What did
- 12:48Speaker 1: you eat, you know, like where, where were you? Was
- 12:51Speaker 1: there any driving involved?
- 12:52Speaker 1: Yes, OK, so it was a driving holiday, um, which,
- 12:56Speaker 1: which meant that we landed in, OK, so just to
- 12:59Speaker 1: share my, uh, travel route, right, just in case you're
- 13:01Speaker 1: planning it as well, South of France, beautiful. I mean,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I would say I choose that over Paris, to be honest.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Is Bordeaux? Uh, don't ask me my geography. I'll check,
- 13:13Speaker 1: I'll check. Could be possible. Um, I definitely enjoyed a
- 13:17Speaker 1: couple of bottles of Bordeaux though.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Anyway, we started off at Marseille, so you have to
- 13:21Speaker 1: land in Marseilles, and then you, so you stop over
- 13:24Speaker 1: in Paris, go to Marseille. It's just like an hour
- 13:27Speaker 1: or so flight. Then you self-drive. So that's where it starts, right?
- 13:30Speaker 1: You would drive from Marseille and then we started off
- 13:32Speaker 1: with Aix en Provence, which is where they're very famous
- 13:35Speaker 1: for Rose. I didn't know this. Yeah, you're saying, I'm
- 13:39Speaker 1: looking at Google Maps.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Marseille and Aix en Provence. There it is. OK, it's
- 13:44Speaker 1: about an hour flight or so. And then we went
- 13:46Speaker 1: on a walking tour. It was beautiful. Rose was great.
- 13:50Speaker 1: They're also famous for lavender. So if you ever go,
- 13:53Speaker 1: actually I bought something for you and your mom, you, um,
- 13:56Speaker 1: but since you're flying off later, I didn't bring it today. So, yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: pass it to when you're back.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Then we went over to Saint Tropez after, which is
- 14:04Speaker 1: where it's quite known for like beach clubs and all that.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Super fun. I, I need to go back to Saint Tropez.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Things are not the cheapest, I will say, so be
- 14:13Speaker 1: prepared to save up a little bit or spend a
- 14:15Speaker 1: little bit.
- 14:15Speaker 1: A little bit on that experience. Wait, so can I ask,
- 14:17Speaker 1: you drove from Exxon Provence to Saint Tropez? Yes. What's
- 14:21Speaker 1: the driving time, like 2 hours, 1 hour? 2 hours, yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 1: like 2 hours. It's not that bad actually. It looks
- 14:27Speaker 1: quite easy to do. Yeah, it's quite easy. But here
- 14:32Speaker 1: we go.
- 14:33Speaker 1: It's left-hand drive and the roads in Europe are very
- 14:37Speaker 1: different from Singapore, I'll tell you first. The signs are
- 14:40Speaker 1: not the clearest. It's very tight. It's, um, your parking skills,
- 14:44Speaker 1: especially parallel parking, needs to be top-notch there. It's really challenging.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Um, and I feel like I want to open up
- 14:51Speaker 1: phone lines for this later on at 8 because an
- 14:53Speaker 1: incident happened between Germs and I I wanted to share
- 14:56Speaker 1: and laugh about with you guys. What does it feel
- 14:58Speaker 1: like your honeymoon venues villain. It really did look like so. Um,
- 15:04Speaker 1: when we actually drove over to Nice, we went over to,
- 15:08Speaker 1: am I missing anything? We were such a big. No, yeah, Nice, um,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and we did a trip to Monaco as well.
- 15:15Speaker 1: The casino in Monaco was actually the venue of one
- 15:19Speaker 1: of the Bond films, the Monte Carlo.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Do you remember? Yes, you just missed the Monaco Grand Prix,
- 15:26Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I don't think, I don't
- 15:29Speaker 1: see it as a bad thing. I actually got to
- 15:31Speaker 1: see a lot of the setup. They were already almost
- 15:32Speaker 1: fully set up, similar to Singapore, you know, street racing, right?
- 15:36Speaker 1: And everything was up already. Race Fever was in, but
- 15:40Speaker 1: I wouldn't advise actually traveling there during Grand Prix. The
- 15:44Speaker 1: road situation, the jams.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Bad, um, not just that, everything is going to be
- 15:50Speaker 1: way more expensive, like your flights, your hotels, it's going
- 15:53Speaker 1: to spike. So try to avoid these times unless you're
- 15:56Speaker 1: going there for the race. Yeah, so it looks like
- 15:59Speaker 1: a very nice coastal town. So how long was this?
- 16:05Speaker 1: 10 days. 10 days. We were there for 10 days. Beautiful.
- 16:08Speaker 1: So I wish it could have been longer, but you know.
- 16:11Speaker 1: be back. If I ever need recommendations, I'll come to you. Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: this one is the kind of trip where I only
- 16:17Speaker 1: wanted to do maybe like one or two main things
- 16:19Speaker 1: a day. The rest of the time you just got
- 16:20Speaker 1: to relax by the beach, man, of France. The water
- 16:24Speaker 1: is cool, but there's sun. I mean, it's perfect and
- 16:27Speaker 1: the air is cool. You lost me at the beach.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I'm the worst beachy person alive. You're quite beachy, stop it.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You can't say that on live national radio. Beachy, like beach,
- 16:40Speaker 1: you know, the sand and the sea. When I went
- 16:42Speaker 1: to Koh somewhere in Phuket.
- 16:44Speaker 1: I was so bored. Uh, but anyway, when we come back, uh,
- 16:49Speaker 1: my relaxing, beautiful honeymoon aside, yeah, time for me to
- 16:53Speaker 1: roast Joki. Come, come, come, before you roast me, OK,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I must wait, just wait for a while. Before we
- 17:00Speaker 1: go with the roasting, can we go to some steamed seafood?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Steamed seafood. Yeah, OK. Just want to say to our
- 17:07Speaker 1: friends over at Jumbo Seafood, Oh, this is what I
- 17:10Speaker 1: missed while I was away. I remember reading this while
- 17:12Speaker 1: I was in South of France and going.
- 17:14Speaker 1: No, an institution. So after close to 40 years since 1987,
- 17:23Speaker 1: they'll be vacating the East Coast area as of September 30th, 2026.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm actually this is quite sad because it's so iconic
- 17:35Speaker 1: and
- 17:36Speaker 1: I always remember like we'll go cycling and this will
- 17:39Speaker 1: be around sunset, right? You go cycling and then you
- 17:42Speaker 1: stop over there for, you know, nice seafood and a
- 17:44Speaker 1: beer or something. Oh, it's the best. So I think
- 17:47Speaker 1: our friends over at, they are redevelopment area as well.
- 17:52Speaker 1: But if you're a big fan of jumbo seafood, where
- 17:54Speaker 1: can I have it here in Singapore.
- 17:56Speaker 1: They got 6 other outlets. Riverside Point, Dempsey Hill, Ion,
- 18:00Speaker 1: Jewel Changi Airport, the River Walk, and Resorts World Sentosa. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: so well covered across the island. You're never gonna have
- 18:07Speaker 1: a shortage of your chili crabs. But like you said earlier,
- 18:10Speaker 1: the one over at East Coast Park is an icon.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It's like an institution.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And, and just being able to have that view, watch,
- 18:17Speaker 1: watching people go by and then the seas in the distance,
- 18:20Speaker 1: the sky, it's just such a nice spot. What a waste.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I would not be surprised if maybe they go to
- 18:25Speaker 1: another beach area in the east side like Changi or
- 18:27Speaker 1: Pasir Ris or what.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Maybe I think Changi doesn't really have that much eateries.
- 18:34Speaker 1: They are, they are looking for another place to house. OK, great. Um,
- 18:38Speaker 1: Joakim and I have been yapping nonstop since we got
- 18:40Speaker 1: into the studio. I think just too much to catch
- 18:42Speaker 1: up on. So bringing some of the catch up on air. Um,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'm sure he didn't share this much with you because
- 18:48Speaker 1: while Joakim hosted my wedding dinner, yes, blah blah blah,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you already said everything. I know. I cannot believe the
- 18:54Speaker 1: part where I called you and Jeremy, the Mandalorian and
- 18:57Speaker 1: Gro made the final cut of your video.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I mean, that was the way you introduced us, so
- 19:03Speaker 1: um I just have to roast Joakim a little bit now.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Because this bro, yeah, hosted the dinner, everything. I did
- 19:10Speaker 1: not expect him to drink and go down so badly.
- 19:14Speaker 1: He did not make it to the after party. OK.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I'm very sad. In fact, you did not even make
- 19:19Speaker 1: it to dessert. Asking for a friend. No, I'm not
- 19:23Speaker 1: throwing one just for you. You missed so much. I know.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I even hired our favorite DJ. Yeah, OK, so I
- 19:30Speaker 1: was gonna say this, uh.
- 19:31Speaker 1: OK, FYI, if you have a, you know, a wedding
- 19:35Speaker 1: coming up soon and you're part of the friend group
- 19:37Speaker 1: or the, I don't know, the, the groomsman or the
- 19:40Speaker 1: just the immediate friend group, OK, make sure you pace
- 19:43Speaker 1: yourself so that you can last all the way. You
- 19:46Speaker 1: know me, I was pacing myself. No, you weren't. I
- 19:49Speaker 1: was on.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Say no to exactly. I, I was there for a
- 19:54Speaker 1: good time. Just say no and the person that kept
- 19:57Speaker 1: giving me drinks, right, I felt I was part of
- 19:59Speaker 1: an initiation ceremony. I think I can join a Jeremy's
- 20:02Speaker 1: fraternity already for sure. Yeah, but you, you grown man,
- 20:05Speaker 1: you can just say no. Who was who, who shoots whiskey, right?
- 20:09Speaker 1: So yeah, uh, I, I knew exactly when my night ended.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It was after I gave you a big hug saying,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know how much I love you, right? I'm so
- 20:18Speaker 1: happy for you. You're such a beautiful bride.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I saw, I saw the life leave your body. The
- 20:25Speaker 1: moment I let you go, I was like, OK, my
- 20:27Speaker 1: night's over. I got to go and, you know, get
- 20:28Speaker 1: it out of my system. You know what happened when
- 20:30Speaker 1: after you hugged me, right? Here we go. What happened?
- 20:32Speaker 1: You tripped over your own leg and walked off stumbling.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Can I, can I say something? Go, go, go. Jeremy's
- 20:40Speaker 1: mom was sitting next to me and she said,
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, why your, why your co-host drink so much?
- 20:49Speaker 1: Is he OK or not? Can I walk straight already.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I was there for a good time and you know what,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I had it and I'm very happy. He was there
- 20:55Speaker 1: for a good time, not a long time, OK. He
- 20:57Speaker 1: missed like half of the nights. But the most important
- 21:01Speaker 1: part was hosting your wedding night, having you come in,
- 21:05Speaker 1: have a great time, seeing you cry. But if I,
- 21:08Speaker 1: if I show you like the videos from the after party,
- 21:11Speaker 1: you're gonna be so angry with yourself. I've never felt
- 21:14Speaker 1: FOMO before until I saw the videos. In fact, we
- 21:17Speaker 1: tried to wake you up.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Because I know that you would have wanted to be there. Sorry, OK.
- 21:22Speaker 1: The only time I sleep very well and pass out
- 21:24Speaker 1: is when I marble. Yeah, I know, I know, yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 1: even my best friends went to the front of my door.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I know, because they, they came to the after party
- 21:32Speaker 1: from with the invitation of Joe because I opened it
- 21:35Speaker 1: up to like, OK, if you want to just come party, party, right?
- 21:38Speaker 1: And they saw me, they congratulated me, and they said,
- 21:40Speaker 1: What happened to Joe? I said, dude, he son already.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Then they said, Wow, not again. This, this guy, this guy.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Then I said, you want to go try and wake
- 21:49Speaker 1: him up. This is his room number, yeah, I put
- 21:51Speaker 1: him in a room here. And they say, OK, let's go.
- 21:55Speaker 1: And to no avail, right? You didn't even answer your
- 21:58Speaker 1: door knocking on my door and ring the doorbell, I
- 22:01Speaker 1: think I was passed out. Joe, I, you know, you
- 22:04Speaker 1: were the only dude that didn't make it to the
- 22:06Speaker 1: after party. It's OK.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You would have wanted to be there, trust me I know.
- 22:13Speaker 1: I know a lot of people, and Joakim included, wanted
- 22:16Speaker 1: me to fill him in on everything that happened on
- 22:18Speaker 1: my trip, right? So aside from the good parts, can
- 22:20Speaker 1: I address one bad part? A.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I mean, look, no honeymoon or trip between a couple
- 22:28Speaker 1: is complete without at least one fight, la, OK? I mean,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I won't use the word fight. Was there like a tiff,
- 22:32Speaker 1: like a little tiff. It was a big tiff. It
- 22:35Speaker 1: was a big tiff. OK, I'm not like airing dirty
- 22:38Speaker 1: laundry or anything because it eventually became quite funny like
- 22:41Speaker 1: we laughed it off because knowing you, when you say
- 22:44Speaker 1: the word fight, right, I'm expecting you to blow up.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I did. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think both of
- 22:51Speaker 1: us did. OK, can I give you the context first? Come, come, come, come. OK. And,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and after which I want you to have a think
- 22:56Speaker 1: about it as well in your experience traveling with a
- 22:59Speaker 1: significant other. I'm invested, um, whether or not you've experienced
- 23:03Speaker 1: fighting with them overseas. Everybody quiet. My podcast is on.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Let's go. My show is on. So, you know, in, um,
- 23:11Speaker 1: In Europe, and especially if you, if you do a
- 23:14Speaker 1: trip like in France or Italy and all that, chances
- 23:17Speaker 1: are you might get a car, rent a car because
- 23:20Speaker 1: it's a driving trip, it's much easier, right? And you
- 23:22Speaker 1: want to move by, you know, 212 hours drive to
- 23:25Speaker 1: move to different cities. So it's a left-hand drive.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And uh I, I've actually never driven left-hand drive before.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Can somebody here in Singapore left-hand drive refresher or something
- 23:36Speaker 1: like that? Yeah, I'll do it. They have to bring
- 23:39Speaker 1: in a car with a left-hand drive 10 cars and
- 23:44Speaker 1: confident going to Europe. It's no, you're absolutely right because
- 23:46Speaker 1: the only time that I get to do it is
- 23:48Speaker 1: if I really need to do it, you know, so
- 23:50Speaker 1: I didn't have any training.
- 23:52Speaker 1: So many things to consider, right, because your spatial awareness
- 23:55Speaker 1: is different, you know, in Singapore, you're on the right,
- 23:58Speaker 1: so you give more allowance on your left, and the
- 24:01Speaker 1: roads are really narrow, I have to say in France,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and winding roads, you know, going up and down mountains
- 24:07Speaker 1: and hills and all that, traffic's coming at you, it
- 24:10Speaker 1: can be quite scary. Um, Jones is doing a good
- 24:13Speaker 1: job holding the fort, like he was the one that
- 24:15Speaker 1: did it. Both of us got our international driver's license
- 24:17Speaker 1: in case one of us is tired or he's tired,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I can take over.
- 24:21Speaker 1: He enjoyed his ride. He was like, you know, he
- 24:23Speaker 1: chose a car. He, he enjoyed his ride. I think
- 24:25Speaker 1: it was, uh, the middle of the trip, maybe 4th
- 24:29Speaker 1: or 5th day. He was like, Hey, um, we're going
- 24:32Speaker 1: to this small town, beautiful town, by the way, called S,
- 24:36Speaker 1: and he was like, Do you want to drive us
- 24:38Speaker 1: to the town just to have some experience? I was like, Sure,
- 24:41Speaker 1: I already got the international driving license that's valid for
- 24:44Speaker 1: 1 year, might as well go, right? So I went
- 24:47Speaker 1: and uh the moment I sat in the car.
- 24:50Speaker 1: He already started to have a bit of comments now, OK.
- 24:53Speaker 1: OK, wait, wait, you wait. So, start the car, you know,
- 24:59Speaker 1: I start moving off and everything, and I was in
- 25:01Speaker 1: a good mood. I was in a good mood. Put
- 25:03Speaker 1: on a playlist, I put on a playlist. I was like, wow,
- 25:05Speaker 1: this is the life, you know, like driving through the
- 25:08Speaker 1: city kind of thing, beautiful skies, beautiful weather.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And uh the GPS is, you know, you Google Map
- 25:16Speaker 1: it and it reflects on the screen in front of you, right?
- 25:19Speaker 1: So I asked James, I said, hey, do you think
- 25:21Speaker 1: you could help me with the navigation because I'm a
- 25:23Speaker 1: little stressed with um the the the the turns and
- 25:27Speaker 1: like even just familiarizing myself with being on the left-hand side.
- 25:30Speaker 1: So do you think you could help? Because I said
- 25:32Speaker 1: as a co-passenger, what I do is I try to
- 25:35Speaker 1: be helpful with the navigation. So I'll be like, OK,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I'm getting ready in about 200 m, you got to
- 25:39Speaker 1: turn right, so standby.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And sometimes if he's panicky, I'd be like, OK, relax,
- 25:43Speaker 1: don't worry, nobody's honking at us, just chill. I know
- 25:46Speaker 1: it's difficult, but his approach is slightly different, you know,
- 25:51Speaker 1: as we drove past a row of cars parked on
- 25:53Speaker 1: a parallel street.
- 25:55Speaker 1: His first reaction was, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 25:58Speaker 1: very close, very close. Move, move to your left, very close, ah,
- 26:02Speaker 1: very close. Oh my God, stop, it's giving me anxiety.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I was like, give me, I was like, dude, you're
- 26:07Speaker 1: giving me anxiety. And then he was like, yeah, but what? OK,
- 26:10Speaker 1: so how do you want me to say it? Then
- 26:12Speaker 1: I'm like, can you just say it gently like, hey,
- 26:14Speaker 1: you're a little too close to the right, move left,
- 26:16Speaker 1: you know, instead of whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Why do you make Jeremy sound like a barking dog?
- 26:23Speaker 1: You very bad. Then, then I missed a turn, OK,
- 26:26Speaker 1: I missed a turn, and I said, Jerems, can you
- 26:29Speaker 1: help me, you know, let me know because I'm not
- 26:31Speaker 1: focused right now. And he goes, You mean you're not
- 26:34Speaker 1: looking at the GPS? When I drive, I'm looking at
- 26:36Speaker 1: the map also.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Wow, I immediately my face changed, OK. I went completely silent. Yes,
- 26:48Speaker 1: and I decided to give silent treatment for the rest
- 26:50Speaker 1: of the drive. So it was very quiet. I was
- 26:53Speaker 1: very quiet. How long was the drive? Pretty long actually,
- 26:56Speaker 1: like 50 minutes. Yeah, so I was very, very quiet,
- 27:00Speaker 1: and he knew that I was mad. He knew I
- 27:03Speaker 1: was mad.
- 27:05Speaker 1: So we arrived and we went to the public parking space,
- 27:09Speaker 1: which was unfortunately an underground car park, the first underground
- 27:12Speaker 1: car park that we had to enter in our entire trip, OK.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It was so narrow, so tight, the cars are so big, uh,
- 27:20Speaker 1: when you turn in, like the sensors are going like.
- 27:24Speaker 1: I could see germs clutching onto the side of the, the,
- 27:28Speaker 1: you know, the handle on the side of the car
- 27:30Speaker 1: holding on for dear life, and when I parked successfully,
- 27:34Speaker 1: he went like that, no, he's like, huh, we're alive.
- 27:39Speaker 1: This guy.
- 27:41Speaker 1: This bro, asking for it. It's funny it's funny now
- 27:46Speaker 1: but at that point was it funny? No.
- 27:49Speaker 1: But for him to say we're alive very loudly, we're
- 27:53Speaker 1: alive like that. I want to smack him know this guy.
- 27:55Speaker 1: So I eventually, you know, got into it with him.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Like we got into a tiff right there in the
- 28:00Speaker 1: car park, and everything, everything came out like all the
- 28:04Speaker 1: unhappiness from the navigation, the driving, the lack of communication,
- 28:08Speaker 1: it just exploded. Was the car soundproof? Um, don't know,
- 28:12Speaker 1: but some people outside might have been staring in.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Staring at us. But look, after which I said, OK, guys,
- 28:18Speaker 1: you know what, you know what, I don't want to
- 28:20Speaker 1: fight anymore. Honestly, this is so stupid. Like I just
- 28:22Speaker 1: want you to change your communication in the way you
- 28:24Speaker 1: tell me how to do things when I'm driving, right? And,
- 28:27Speaker 1: and in Singapore, he has no complaints. In fact, he
- 28:30Speaker 1: tells me I'm a fantastic driver in Singapore, but overseas
- 28:32Speaker 1: is so challenging with the left-hand drivers different, yeah. So anyway,
- 28:37Speaker 1: that's the story. Um, we eventually made up.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And decided we need to have a nice day because
- 28:43Speaker 1: we already drove out here to a beautiful village. I
- 28:45Speaker 1: don't want to, I don't want to waste the day.
- 28:47Speaker 1: So good, we resolved it. So the next day, he
- 28:51Speaker 1: shows me a picture he took of me while I
- 28:53Speaker 1: was angry. Can I, can I show you? Can I
- 28:56Speaker 1: show it to you? OK, let me show it to
- 28:58Speaker 1: you right now. I want to see is it the
- 29:01Speaker 1: same face from 2014. 2014 in that cab where you
- 29:03Speaker 1: blew up. If that was for valid reason, OK, OK, OK,
- 29:07Speaker 1: it looks like this. Yeah, that's the same face.
- 29:11Speaker 1: That is the same face I remember. And I burst
- 29:14Speaker 1: out laughing when he showed me the photo. He was like, yeah,
- 29:17Speaker 1: I thought I want to remember this day. Guys, look, the,
- 29:19Speaker 1: the ultimate way to know whether Sonya is angry or,
- 29:22Speaker 1: you know, unhappy or not is when she goes silent.
- 29:25Speaker 1: When Sonya is silent for more than 10 minutes, you
- 29:27Speaker 1: know something is wrong. Something is wrong. You better reflect. Exactly, yeah. Anyway,
- 29:32Speaker 1: on that note, I want to open up the phone
- 29:34Speaker 1: line 669-11987.
- 29:37Speaker 1: While you have fun on holidays, yes, I'm sure that
- 29:40Speaker 1: there's always one moment at least that you may have
- 29:43Speaker 1: a fight amongst your family or your plus one or
- 29:46Speaker 1: whoever it is that you're traveling with, even a group
- 29:48Speaker 1: of friends or even your your significant other. Call us 669-11987.
- 29:54Speaker 1: When was the last time you fought while on a vacation?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Joking, we can think about it too. I have two answers.

- 30:21Speaker 1: midst of talking about arguments that you might have gotten
- 30:25Speaker 1: into with your family, your friends or your significant other,
- 30:28Speaker 1: while overseas, I think it happens to the best of us,
- 30:31Speaker 1: at least once. Thank you so much for your text
- 30:33Speaker 1: coming in on WhatsApp. I want to say hello to
- 30:36Speaker 1: who says, hey, Sojo.
- 30:38Speaker 1: It was my husband and I off to a trip
- 30:41Speaker 1: in Vietnam, Sapa, apparently. We are two completely different travelers.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'm the nature kind and he's the luxury travel guy.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Upon reaching Fansipan Peak, it's a steep climb. I kept
- 30:53Speaker 1: telling him, we're reaching, we're reaching. He saw the last
- 30:56Speaker 1: straw of stairs and went cursing and swearing to me, saying,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I'm not climbing anymore. You can go ahead yourself.
- 31:06Speaker 1: How did it end? Uh, I think she went that's it.
- 31:08Speaker 1: She went out herself. She said sorry, sorry. OK, well, hey,
- 31:11Speaker 1: you know, um, anything that you want to do that
- 31:13Speaker 1: you've already set out to do on your trip, I,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I encourage you to just do it. Yeah. I think
- 31:18Speaker 1: for my example I want to give, I mean, I
- 31:20Speaker 1: love my mom, but bring her to Italy.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I mean, it's the first time in Europe. Just give
- 31:26Speaker 1: me one example, one example of a fight that you
- 31:29Speaker 1: had before we, uh, go back to the music and
- 31:32Speaker 1: our callers.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Hotel room cleanliness. 00, I think you told me this.
- 31:37Speaker 1: My mom was very particular about like, Mom, this is Europe, not, not,
- 31:39Speaker 1: not like Singapore standards, you know, it's Europe. Like just
- 31:43Speaker 1: two nights and we're done. No, so dirty, so dusty, dusty.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I have to go and change the room and all that.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Was it really dirty and dusty? Um, OK, just for
- 31:50Speaker 1: a mother's standard? Yes, for people like you and me,
- 31:55Speaker 1: I think it's just another day, another day, you know,
- 31:57Speaker 1: Tahan one night, you haven't seen my house.
- 32:01Speaker 1: We are going back to phone lines in just a
- 32:03Speaker 1: little bit. Standby. The question today is, have you ever
- 32:06Speaker 1: fought with your friends, your family, or your significant other
- 32:09Speaker 1: while on vacation, inspired by my own story on my honeymoon.
- 32:14Speaker 1: All the details next. Inspired by uh.
- 32:17Speaker 1: What I guess made the honeymoon complete, so we had
- 32:20Speaker 1: one fight. Got to have at least 11 fiery fight,
- 32:23Speaker 1: you know, honeymoon. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So after we resolved
- 32:27Speaker 1: it and we laughed at each other, we looked at
- 32:30Speaker 1: each other and said, I guess our honeymoon is now complete.
- 32:33Speaker 1: So all the experiences. How many bottles of wine did
- 32:36Speaker 1: Jeremy give you as a sorry? Uh, he got me
- 32:39Speaker 1: other things lah. OK lah. He said, OK, we can
- 32:43Speaker 1: go shopping. OK.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 32:48Speaker 1: He said he, the moment he saw my face and
- 32:50Speaker 1: he snapped a photo for the memories, he knew he
- 32:53Speaker 1: messed up already. He said he knew he was gonna
- 32:57Speaker 1: canal later.
- 32:58Speaker 1: So when you say let's go shopping, you were like, Yeah,
- 33:00Speaker 1: let's go. But inside you were like, score. OK, one
- 33:04Speaker 1: coming in from Shell. Morning Sojo. Congrats on your marriage, Sonia.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. I seldom have fights with my
- 33:10Speaker 1: travel mates, even though I have come close before, but
- 33:13Speaker 1: mostly because I was the one that kak you up
- 33:16Speaker 1: in the middle of my parents. They have never failed
- 33:19Speaker 1: to have a fight on a trip, whether with me
- 33:20Speaker 1: or my sisters or the whole family or with their
- 33:23Speaker 1: own friends.
- 33:25Speaker 1: My several friends and I graduated together overseas, so everyone's
- 33:28Speaker 1: folks flew up for the graduation ceremony, them included. They
- 33:32Speaker 1: had apparently fought while they were out exploring on their own,
- 33:34Speaker 1: and when we all met up for dinner with my
- 33:36Speaker 1: friends and their folks, my friends pull me aside to
- 33:38Speaker 1: ask me, did your parents have a fight? right? It
- 33:42Speaker 1: had become so common that even I didn't realize they
- 33:44Speaker 1: had picked up on it. The thing was, when I
- 33:47Speaker 1: asked them what happened, they couldn't even remember the trigger
- 33:50Speaker 1: for the fight. You see, it's always like the small things,
- 33:53Speaker 1: and then you just forget.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So now my approach is
- 33:58Speaker 1: If there's really something you're unhappy about, like, let's communicate
- 34:01Speaker 1: it properly once and for all, and then we just
- 34:03Speaker 1: let it go already. We let it go. Yeah, you just,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I mean, if you shout.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Yeah, as a way of frustration, OK, fine, your method of,
- 34:12Speaker 1: your method of communication. As long as you resolve it
- 34:15Speaker 1: and aim to have like a good rest of the trip,
- 34:17Speaker 1: you know, don't waste your time. Nazs is on the
- 34:20Speaker 1: line right now. OK, Naz, what happens? Uh,
- 34:23Speaker 2: my husband as well. So I had the same experience
- 34:25Speaker 2: as you. So, uh, we were driving with the left-hand drive.
- 34:31Speaker 2: So, uh, so it's very, uh, I was driving in
- 34:34Speaker 2: the US, so, uh, in, in, you know, like, uh,
- 34:36Speaker 2: from LA to Vegas at that point in time. So I'm,
- 34:39Speaker 2: I'm also not familiar with life and drive. So, um,
- 34:43Speaker 2: so I, I was driving and then, uh, he didn't
- 34:46Speaker 2: help with the navigation.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Is this a man thing or what?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think they were busy taking photos of
- 34:54Speaker 2: the like the sceneries or like playing with their phones
- 34:57Speaker 2: or you know, and then I think he realized that
- 35:00Speaker 2: the stop that I'm supposed to turn is on the
- 35:02Speaker 2: right-hand side, so we are not used to left-hand drive, right,
- 35:06Speaker 2: and then when we, when actually I was like kind
- 35:09Speaker 2: of like at the speed and then he was like
- 35:10Speaker 2: asking me to turn.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Right last minute at the last minute, but of course
- 35:14Speaker 2: it's not a like a like a main road, so
- 35:17Speaker 2: it was like a more like a desert drive kind
- 35:19Speaker 2: of thing. So, um, I was told to turn right
- 35:23Speaker 2: at the last minute and then, uh, of course I
- 35:27Speaker 2: kind of like a little bit skidded, you know, like
- 35:29Speaker 2: because you last minute have to turn it at you
- 35:30Speaker 2: like drift a bit and then the moment he said, stop, stop, stop,
- 35:35Speaker 2: suddenly he starts screaming, then you were like, get out,
- 35:37Speaker 2: get out of the car, I'm driving it.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I was like, oh my God, and then I was like,
- 35:44Speaker 2: of course, like, OK, fine, but of course I was
- 35:47Speaker 2: blackface like the same way as Sonia
- 35:49Speaker 2: was.
- 35:50Speaker 1: By the way, I was just looking at the route
- 35:53Speaker 1: from LA to Las Vegas. It's a 5 hour plus
- 35:58Speaker 1: drive on the on the I-15, so it's no easy feat.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Did you make a pit stop at any motels or
- 36:03Speaker 1: whatsoever or did the whole thing throughout?
- 36:05Speaker 2: Oh, we did.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Have a pit stop for one
- 36:07Speaker 2: night.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Yeah, there we go.
- 36:09Speaker 2: You, you have to, yeah, it's much better because you
- 36:12Speaker 2: get to see other cities.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Thank you so much for your call.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Thank you. Goals right here on 987, Singapore's number one
- 36:20Speaker 1: hit music station. OK, so we're on the topic of
- 36:23Speaker 1: arguing while you're on a vacation. So far we've gotten
- 36:27Speaker 1: people who talked about arguing with their partners. There's one
- 36:29Speaker 1: about parents constantly arguing.
- 36:32Speaker 1: What else do we have? OK, we got two texts
- 36:34Speaker 1: coming in. Want to say good morning to you, firstly,
- 36:37Speaker 1: Brenda on WhatsApp. Hey, Sonia and Joakim, just wanted to share.
- 36:41Speaker 1: My parents are always squabbling with each other up till today,
- 36:45Speaker 1: 30 years of marriage, kudos to them.
- 36:48Speaker 1: So back in 2023 when we went on a family
- 36:50Speaker 1: trip to Switzerland, my siblings and I couldn't help but
- 36:53Speaker 1: feel amused to see our parents holding hands and being
- 36:56Speaker 1: lovey-dovey with each other. My two other siblings and I
- 36:59Speaker 1: touched their foreheads to check if they were sick or
- 37:01Speaker 1: having a fever because instead of seeing them on silent
- 37:05Speaker 1: treatment or bickering, we got a lovely, literally lovely sight.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Instead, I mean, look, with Asian families, maybe this could
- 37:13Speaker 1: be quite rare sometimes. Yeah, yeah. One coming in from Jasmine. Morning, Sojo.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It was my first and last time traveling with my cousin.
- 37:22Speaker 1: We are super close and last year we thought, let's
- 37:25Speaker 1: go to Bangkok together. I didn't know that she loves
- 37:28Speaker 1: sleeping in an ice cold room. I like sleeping in
- 37:31Speaker 1: a room that doesn't feel like a commercial freezer. Every
- 37:34Speaker 1: night we secretly adjust the thermostat.
- 37:38Speaker 1: I set it to 24 °C. An hour later, it
- 37:42Speaker 1: will be 18 °C. I wake up freezing and I'll
- 37:45Speaker 1: change it again. One morning, we discovered we both set
- 37:48Speaker 1: alarms during the night specifically to change the temperature. Neither
- 37:52Speaker 1: of us slept properly for the last 3 days. We
- 37:54Speaker 1: spent hundreds on a vacation and somehow ended up participating
- 37:57Speaker 1: in an underground thermostat war.
- 38:00Speaker 1: And they, they thought it was a secret war, you know,
- 38:03Speaker 1: but hey, why, why don't you just meet in the
- 38:04Speaker 1: middle at like 21 degrees something? I think when it
- 38:08Speaker 1: comes to compromise. If you like it, you must be
- 38:12Speaker 1: in an ice cold room, very tough though. What if
- 38:15Speaker 1: your partner, your future partner is like that? That's why
- 38:18Speaker 1: I'm quite worried now. It's OK. There's modern technology now.
- 38:21Speaker 1: I'll share with you about this You can cool one side,
- 38:24Speaker 1: like one side.
- 38:27Speaker 1: That's because I faced this thing too. The person that
- 38:34Speaker 1: invented that kind of problems with his wife that's the
- 38:35Speaker 1: inspiration or she could be a problems with her husband, yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Uh, keep your texts and your calls coming through, 669-11987.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I think we got time for just one more, um,
- 38:44Speaker 1: in just a little bit. The question is, when was
- 38:46Speaker 1: the last time you fought with someone? Could be your
- 38:49Speaker 1: family member, your friends, or your significant other while on vacation.
- 38:53Speaker 1: In exchange, we've got a shopping experience thanks to our
- 38:56Speaker 1: friends over at Lazada. Yay. So please, and we are
- 39:00Speaker 1: down to our last message or so about fighting with
- 39:03Speaker 1: your loved ones while on vacation.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I mean, look, this happens to the best of us,
- 39:08Speaker 1: and uh the experience is finally complete when you get
- 39:10Speaker 1: one argument out of the way. I mean, the word
- 39:12Speaker 1: fight can be subjective, could be the smallest of tiffs
- 39:16Speaker 1: or the largest or the biggest one you've ever had
- 39:19Speaker 1: in your life. I wanna say good morning to, I
- 39:22Speaker 1: think your name on WhatsApp is Cynthia.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Cynthia, you say morning. Congrats again, Sonia. Thank you. Here's
- 39:29Speaker 1: my story. During our first family trip to Australia, I
- 39:32Speaker 1: had a major argument with my husband. Due to some
- 39:35Speaker 1: company changes and staff shortages caused by the resignations, I
- 39:39Speaker 1: had to manage work matters while on holiday. As a result,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I spent about 6
- 39:43Speaker 1: 50% of the trip working and only 40% actually enjoying
- 39:47Speaker 1: family time. My husband was understandably frustrated because I wasn't
- 39:52Speaker 1: working by choice, but out of necessity. Most nights I
- 39:55Speaker 1: stayed up until 1 to 2 a.m. to clear work,
- 39:57Speaker 1: then woke up around 7 to 8 a.m. to prepare
- 39:59Speaker 1: food for our 2.5 year old son, so he would
- 40:02Speaker 1: have meals ready during our outings. The stress got so
- 40:06Speaker 1: bad that my husband even told me to quit my
- 40:08Speaker 1: job immediately.
- 40:10Speaker 1: To make things more challenging, we had to do laundry
- 40:13Speaker 1: almost every night since it was winter, and we hadn't
- 40:15Speaker 1: packed many clothes. It was absolutely tiring. Thankfully, I managed
- 40:20Speaker 1: to calm him down and convince him to make the
- 40:22Speaker 1: most of the remaining days of our holiday. Arguing during
- 40:24Speaker 1: a family trip is especially exhausting because no matter how
- 40:27Speaker 1: upset you are, you still have to.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Communicate and work together throughout the day and you're still
- 40:31Speaker 1: stuck there. That experience taught me a very important lesson.
- 40:34Speaker 1: If I can help it, I'll never bring work along
- 40:35Speaker 1: on vacation ever again. Yes, amen to that. Honestly, I mean, we,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I know how that feels. I think a lot of
- 40:42Speaker 1: us know how that feels, um, and you also feel bad,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you know, it's not that you want to do it.
- 40:46Speaker 1: It's not your choice.
- 40:48Speaker 1: The thing is, her boss knew that she was going
- 40:51Speaker 1: on a trip, right? OK, this would be a very
- 40:53Speaker 1: unpopular opinion, especially for bosses out there. If you're working
- 40:57Speaker 1: for a boss where if you're on leave and on
- 41:00Speaker 1: vacation holiday, but the boss says, oh yeah, the company.
- 41:03Speaker 1: needs you. The company is very important. Please quit. Yeah,
- 41:06Speaker 1: I don't think that's scary disrespectful. I mean, it's very scary.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Shout out to her boss Jenny. She's actually pretty good
- 41:11Speaker 1: with that. She's like, OK, enjoy. I'm not gonna talk
- 41:13Speaker 1: to you. Bye. You know why? Because when she's on leave, yeah,
- 41:16Speaker 1: she doesn't want to be disturbed.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yes, a good karma circle right there. Exactly. Anyway, thank
- 41:22Speaker 1: you for your calls and your messages and all the
- 41:24Speaker 1: stories that came through. I think this was an extra
- 41:26Speaker 1: relatable one here today. Look, everyone has a tiff or
- 41:30Speaker 1: a fight with your loved ones while you're overseas, right?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Why not win something by sharing that story? So thanks
- 41:36Speaker 1: to our friends over at Lazada for their 66 sale,
- 41:39Speaker 1: which is happening in less than 4 days now. You
- 41:41Speaker 1: can log on to Lazada_SG on Instagram or their website.
- 41:46Speaker 1: W. Lazada.sg and we're giving you a $100 Lazada shopping experience. Alright,
- 41:51Speaker 1: who's it going to today? OK, today very lucky because
- 41:54Speaker 1: yesterday is a public holiday, right? Yeah. So today we
- 41:55Speaker 1: have two lucky winners. We have a bonus one, yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I want to give it to Naz who called us
- 41:59Speaker 1: earlier and to Jasmine sharing with us about the thermostat
- 42:02Speaker 1: war that she had with her cousin. Well done to
- 42:05Speaker 1: you both. Thank you so much for your texts. The
- 42:07Speaker 1: thermostat war got me, man. Like that must have been
- 42:10Speaker 1: a tough 3 days for them and
- 42:12Speaker 1: I wonder whether it affected their friendship after I mean cousins,
- 42:16Speaker 1: but they won't travel together. Yeah, because you never truly
- 42:19Speaker 1: know your friend till you travel with them. So you
- 42:21Speaker 1: and Jeremy and the thermostats. I like it too actually.
- 42:26Speaker 1: So I just need like extra blankets.
- 42:28Speaker 1: But I want to be cold. He likes cold, like
- 42:31Speaker 1: he just doesn't need a blanket sometimes. Don't get it,
- 42:34Speaker 1: but yeah, it's a, it's a man thing, I guess.
- 42:36Speaker 1: A lot of men just don't like it being hot,
- 42:37Speaker 1: so yeah, I'm 24 °C. Sorry, sit down.
- 42:44Speaker 1: This one is a rare breed, very rare breed. It's
- 42:48Speaker 1: a very rare breed. OK. Anyway, thank you for being
- 42:50Speaker 1: a part of that conversation. To catch up with it,
- 42:52Speaker 1: it'll be on me Listen and Spotify. Coming up in
- 42:55Speaker 1: just a few minutes. Have you ever seen or spotted
- 42:59Speaker 1: like um a mysterious looking bag out there, um, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: you thought maybe it could contain something valuable? Have you
- 43:06Speaker 1: ever thought about it?
- 43:07Speaker 1: No, because if I see a bag that's left unattended,
- 43:11Speaker 1: I will think, OK, problem, please call the police or secure.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Tell our friends over at SMRT that, hey, there's an
- 43:17Speaker 1: unattended bag over there. Yes, yes, but sometimes these things happen,
- 43:21Speaker 1: you know, especially when people go on fishing trips or
- 43:25Speaker 1: they sail out their expeditions, you can see some random
- 43:27Speaker 1: stuff floating around.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Something someone dropped something, right? You mean like fishing trips
- 43:32Speaker 1: and it could be, yeah, it could be anywhere. Um,
- 43:35Speaker 1: find out what exactly happened to three men who reeled
- 43:39Speaker 1: in what they thought was a catch. So I've asked
- 43:42Speaker 1: you this before. Have you ever come across or fished
- 43:45Speaker 1: out a random package that you thought, wow, maybe inside
- 43:47Speaker 1: got money or treasure?
- 43:50Speaker 1: I see a bag, I'm not touching it at all.
- 43:53Speaker 1: I've watched enough Crime Watch to know that for example,
- 43:56Speaker 1: if the bag contains illegal substances and I touch it,
- 43:59Speaker 1: and it might, it might come out at you or something.
- 44:01Speaker 1: I might get implicated as well. Yeah. True, true, true. OK,
- 44:03Speaker 1: so I want to take you over to East Coast
- 44:06Speaker 1: Park where these 3 men were fishing, OK, um, and
- 44:10Speaker 1: they're fishing around, Hey, what's this? Did we get a
- 44:12Speaker 1: catch or something?
- 44:14Speaker 1: Turns out it was a moldy looking bag, OK, that
- 44:18Speaker 1: they fished out, but it was quite, quite heavy. So
- 44:20Speaker 1: they were thinking, wow, inside got cash or, or, or
- 44:24Speaker 1: gold or what, you know, dynasty. That's the thing. So
- 44:28Speaker 1: you never know, right? A lot of things get washed
- 44:30Speaker 1: up at sea and you have no idea where they
- 44:32Speaker 1: come from. So they got very excited. They called everyone, Hey, guys, guys, guys,
- 44:35Speaker 1: that's this mysterious looking bag. What was exactly inside? It
- 44:39Speaker 1: wasn't cash.
- 44:41Speaker 1: It was a pile of Lazada 66 vouchers.
- 44:45Speaker 1: And I'm wondering, wait, what's it doing inside a smart
- 44:49Speaker 1: ad or what, because aren't they celebrating 66?
- 44:53Speaker 1: I'm like, did Lazada plant this? Yeah, I'm guessing it's
- 44:56Speaker 1: a planted. Can be really. They can't throw things into
- 45:00Speaker 1: the river or the sea. They'll get fined or in trouble.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, it felt like too much of a coincidence.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I wonder if this was just some smart marketing tactic,
- 45:09Speaker 1: you know. Lazada has always been very smart and less
- 45:12Speaker 1: in your face with their marketing. They, they, they know
- 45:14Speaker 1: what they're doing, I would say is more in your face.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Lazada is a bit subtle about it, yeah, whichever platform
- 45:19Speaker 1: you shop, I hope you get the best deals.
- 45:23Speaker 1: BTS right here on 987, Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Sonia and Jokim with you. Thanks for joining us. OK,
- 45:29Speaker 1: so take us over to, um, where again? Wood Woodlands
- 45:33Speaker 1: Jurong Jurong, sorry, Jurong. How do you get Woodlands? I
- 45:35Speaker 1: don't know. Suddenly I forgot where it was. You're on
- 45:37Speaker 1: different ends of Singapore. I'm still very jet-lagged, OK, my
- 45:41Speaker 1: brain is not braining. It doesn't take a jet lag
- 45:44Speaker 1: to know that Woodlands is on the north side and
- 45:46Speaker 1: Jurong is in the west. Can you just tell us
- 45:48Speaker 1: a story? Give me a migraine.
- 45:51Speaker 1: OK, so residents over there have realized that the crow
- 45:55Speaker 1: population over at Jurong West, it's expanding, it's growing, multiplying. Yeah,
- 45:59Speaker 1: people are being woken up very early in the morning,
- 46:01Speaker 1: all thanks to the cawing. Yeah, Naturally, a grandpa and
- 46:05Speaker 1: a grandson was nearly attacked by crows because I think
- 46:08Speaker 1: the crows were defending the nest. They don't want people
- 46:10Speaker 1: to get too close to it. So yeah, they've complained
- 46:13Speaker 1: and let's see what the authorities do about it.
- 46:16Speaker 1: So, this is just a new development. They haven't come
- 46:18Speaker 1: back with a like a solution yet.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Placing the nest somewhere else, rehousing relocating is there you go.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Thank you so much rehousing.
- 46:34Speaker 1: And there's another problem with the crows and the pigeons
- 46:38Speaker 1: and miners, right, and how the population is growing. There's
- 46:40Speaker 1: bird poop everywhere. Oh, man, that's, yeah, so, uh, here's
- 46:45Speaker 1: a little tip I guess for drivers. Make sure you
- 46:48Speaker 1: keep a stack of or a pack of wet wipes
- 46:51Speaker 1: in your car to wipe to wipe it, yeah, or
- 46:54Speaker 1: if you have the glass cleaner type, keep it in
- 46:56Speaker 1: your car because you don't want it to get crusty
- 46:58Speaker 1: under the hot sun and then it's really hard to
- 47:00Speaker 1: scrub it off. There you go.
- 47:03Speaker 1: It's Rose right here on 987, Singapore's number one hit
- 47:06Speaker 1: music station. I tell you, it's a sign for me
- 47:08Speaker 1: to go back to France because all I drank was
- 47:10Speaker 1: Rose in Aix en Provence. So if you play an
- 47:14Speaker 1: Amy Winehouse song, for example, I know, any reason at all, right?
- 47:20Speaker 1: Anyway, um, we already covered what you're about to do
- 47:23Speaker 1: for the next week and a half or so, and
- 47:24Speaker 1: I'm going solo. So please still stick around. Safe travels, Joe.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah, um, please report back. Tell me what
- 47:32Speaker 1: you're up to. I'll send you some pictures, but nothing
