- 0:01[UNKNOWN]: loss after loss.
- 0:03[UNKNOWN]: Failure after failure.
- 0:06[UNKNOWN]: I have been extorted and trunned by every Tom Dickah Harry Goan and I'll be honest with you.
- 0:12[UNKNOWN]: It's humiliating.
- 0:15[UNKNOWN]: I'm supposed to be a bastard.
- 0:19[UNKNOWN]: But I feel like a bitch.
- 0:22[UNKNOWN]: but the good news, the good news is that ends now.
- 0:26[UNKNOWN]: I am done with apathy.
- 0:29[UNKNOWN]: I'm angry, angry again, and I am at my very best when I'm angry.
- 0:34[UNKNOWN]: The history books are gonna read.
- 0:36[UNKNOWN]: Still, your W, W, here's a way to jump in.
- 0:43[UNKNOWN]: Tuckering, ruler of all, and king of the true zoe.
- 0:53[UNKNOWN]: and you always made sure that I knew you'd love me too.
- 0:59[UNKNOWN]: I miss you, my friend, till we meet again.
- 1:08[UNKNOWN]: Rest in peace to Ben Satterley, aka Adrian Neville Pack.
- 1:15[UNKNOWN]: The bastard, the man gravity forgot, but we will not.
- 1:21[UNKNOWN]: Welcome everyone today to a special best match ever podcast.
- 1:27[UNKNOWN]: I'm Braden Harrington here with Davey Portman from Poison, Rhona.
- 1:31[UNKNOWN]: This is a show where we nerd out and go through
- 1:35[UNKNOWN]: the best professional wrestling matches and well in the world of pro wrestling we lost one of our own one of uh someone we welcome into our living rooms we can week out for years what it feels like now going on easily 12 15 20 years for some people who've watched this guy wrestle and
- 2:00[UNKNOWN]: He is no longer with us.
- 2:02[UNKNOWN]: So today, in the best way we know how, we're gonna honor the life and celebrate the career of Pack.
- 2:12[UNKNOWN]: Yes, I think over the past week or so, the wrestling world has had its fair share of crying tears of sadness and I think the way to kind of process this for us away we always do is by celebrating and maybe share tears of happiness when we watch the great work that this man has provided us these past couple of decades so pull up a chair pour out some new castle brown ale.
- 2:40[UNKNOWN]: and sit back and relax as we go through some of the greatest matches.
- 2:45[UNKNOWN]: The best matches in the career of Pack.
- 2:49[UNKNOWN]: Yes, usually we have a silly little intro talking about the best.
- 2:54[UNKNOWN]: This is a show we've done rivalries, match types, specific wrestlers, but we like to make a little playlist of some great wrestling matches that we have for you in the info or the details on this pod up on our Facebook group or our Patreon.
- 3:12[UNKNOWN]: You can find the list.
- 3:14[UNKNOWN]: In fact, all of these matches are free to watch.
- 3:19[UNKNOWN]: on YouTube some are a little bit rare like on daily motion, but from WWE, Dragon Gate, PWG, to NXT to AEW, and more.
- 3:33[UNKNOWN]: We will talk about here today.
- 3:35[UNKNOWN]: So we're going to celebrate the life and career of pack in the way we know how and and talk about his fantastic work.
- 3:41[UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's
- 3:42[UNKNOWN]: it's still very fresh in our in our in our hearts right now it we just watch this guy wrestle on paper view like last week so it is very very raw still with a lot of people in this in this wrestling bubble that we live in so all the power and love out there to everyone.
- 4:02[UNKNOWN]: It's one of those very strange things, so I sat down and watched all of these matches back to back today, sometimes spread out over a period of days or whatever, and so many times watching these matches, I forget.
- 4:18[UNKNOWN]: because we did watch him so recently.
- 4:21[UNKNOWN]: We saw him live pretty recently as well.
- 4:26[UNKNOWN]: So there's moments in these matches where I'm just getting swept up in the story of the match in the incredible work.
- 4:36[UNKNOWN]: And then it hits me all over again, where I remember that this guy isn't with us anymore.
- 4:41[UNKNOWN]: And we have seen the last of his matches
- 4:46[UNKNOWN]: I feel he's someone that was so great for so long that we almost took for granted.
- 4:53[UNKNOWN]: Like he was, he still felt like one of the best kept secrets, even though he was on WWE TV, on AEW TV, on Wembley Stadium, and all these things, he still felt like he,
- 5:10[UNKNOWN]: He wasn't recognized as much as he should be for how brilliant he was and we didn't appreciate how great and smooth and snappy his work was and just over the years becoming such a great all-rounder and I actually think from this
- 5:28[UNKNOWN]: This list we've curated here, it shows the best of all of it.
- 5:33[UNKNOWN]: It shows the best of his high-flying.
- 5:36[UNKNOWN]: It shows the best of his technical abilities.
- 5:39[UNKNOWN]: Show some of the best of his storytelling, his bastard nature, his healish tendencies he could have.
- 5:47[UNKNOWN]: And all of that, I think, is summed up beautifully in these matches we're about to go through.
- 5:54[UNKNOWN]: But I'll ask you first, obviously we are, you're an XT friends and we've been talking about Pack, Adrian Neville for years.
- 6:02[UNKNOWN]: We have a show called Wasnex where we have gone right back to the beginning of the full cell era of NXT and we've gone through every single weekly episodic episode, including an XT arrival, including an XT takeover.
- 6:17[UNKNOWN]: We're on the way to
- 6:19[UNKNOWN]: take over fatal four way right now, and we will be talking about our evolution on this very show.
- 6:26[UNKNOWN]: And yes, so he's someone who's career, we followed a long time, but I'm not going to pretend that I was super familiar with stuff Pat was doing before he signed with WWE.
- 6:39[UNKNOWN]: I do, I do remember when he did sign, and I remember that being buzz about Pat,
- 6:45[UNKNOWN]: and I've heard stuff about pack, but I'd be a liar if I said, I'd watch his stuff prior to WWE, despite being a Brit.
- 6:55[UNKNOWN]: He was kind of making a name for himself on the scene during my hiatus when I was kind of checked out of wrestling and the WWE product, but I certainly have a lot of
- 7:06[UNKNOWN]: friends when I was getting back into it and went to my first WrestleMania and was going to these indie shows over the UK who were like, man, like some of the best matches I've seen have been pack, like in on these shores.
- 7:20[UNKNOWN]: So I don't know about you, how familiar will you with been Saturday prior to NXT?
- 7:27[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, when I would say my wrestling, I was super, probably like most people at least in North America who, like, you know, I'm born in 91 so and I always go off about my 2005 being my favorite because that was when I like really I was still super young and I was really sinking my teeth into everything and.
- 7:46[UNKNOWN]: DVDs and tape trading and the internet and everything.
- 7:49[UNKNOWN]: But by the time NXT came around and I am thinking like when it became the full-cell era, not the game show, but like when it started.
- 7:58[UNKNOWN]: And that's when we started, we used the base to start our series called Was Next.
- 8:03[UNKNOWN]: And basically out the gate, he's on that show.
- 8:07[UNKNOWN]: And then so I feel like me and you, you
- 8:10[UNKNOWN]: have watched even more of this guy because we've been watching two separate timelines because for the past what feels like five plus years we've been doing that series called wasnex and right now he's the champion.
- 8:21[UNKNOWN]: So we watched his entire run with the tag team titles and then going for the gold and being true.
- 8:28[UNKNOWN]: And then in real time in real life for the past you know since AWS started we've been
- 8:34[UNKNOWN]: covering and watching it and he's been a character on on TV except when he's been I guess stuck over Caesar stuck at home but he's been a prominent person I've watched on in wrestling since since what feels like forever and I am like you I wasn't very familiar with a lot of outside WWE stuff until around
- 8:58[UNKNOWN]: 2010, 2011 is when I started to definitely branch out into other things.
- 9:05[UNKNOWN]: And I think the internet and indie wrestling was a big part of that.
- 9:09[UNKNOWN]: And I know when Ricochet first started making indie rounds in Toronto.
- 9:16[UNKNOWN]: We would hear about him and then I'd see clips online and like, you know, those homemade music video, you know, Lincoln Park and its Dragon Gate clips and all that kind of stuff.
- 9:26[UNKNOWN]: So I saw stuff of that, but it wasn't until no, wasn't until way into WWE NXT when I knew him is Adrian Neville.
- 9:35[UNKNOWN]: But then think as time kind of went on and cheer 2010s, the internet got better and now, like, look, all the matches we're going to talk about are some of them are old, but you can easily
- 9:44[UNKNOWN]: find them so i think i kind of learned a bit more about him as time went on and then of course jumping ahead to like his exit of WWE that's when i think like i'd say in the in the not just the WWE bubble but the pro wrestling world he kind of yet again exploded because people were just so eager to see what he does outside of WWE and then the long came a w so it's a
- 10:11[UNKNOWN]: He's someone as well, you talked to some people where, you know, YouTube started becoming popular in what, like, like, say 2004, something like that when people started, where it would start, like, filming some things on there.
- 10:26[UNKNOWN]: They're not phones with digital cameras you buy and you'd upload it to the internet.
- 10:30[UNKNOWN]: And I've heard people saying that that's when they first
- 10:37[UNKNOWN]: of pack was wrestling backyard wrestling and this guy that could do
- 10:45[UNKNOWN]: things with his body this flying that you don't believe is possible.
- 10:50[UNKNOWN]: So people have been following him since then and I know Osprey has said, hasn't he that that is something that he looked up to like realize that there is a route for British wrestlers to make an anchor themselves and a career and he basically followed in packs path and his roadmap of
- 11:11[UNKNOWN]: filming stuff in his garden and and getting that out there and trying to get bookings through that and and growing that way and and other wrestlers finding these guys work and seeing like, whoa, what is this guy doing and how can I work with him?
- 11:27[UNKNOWN]: And then you fast forward, I think.
- 11:31[UNKNOWN]: I think that that time of WWE, you know, the cruiserweight division, which we've seen them try a couple of times and they seem to really a gong hoe for a week with it being successful and they get bored, Vince gets bored and moves on and I think that around that time of
- 11:53[UNKNOWN]: pre-AW starting and WWE people getting a bit of fed up of them, you know, it held 10XT certainly, but when you saw a talent like Adrian Neville, who you are watching, having these incredible matches on NXT in the same company, and then get that main roster call and get fumbled.
- 12:19[UNKNOWN]: You're willing for somewhere to allow them to spread their wings and succeed.
- 12:23[UNKNOWN]: And thank God for a company like AEW that was around and someone like Neville Pack got to have that second life.
- 12:33[UNKNOWN]: And I think something you've got to appreciate with the man as well is
- 12:38[UNKNOWN]: him standing up for himself like he's he never wanted to move to America and I've just seen regals put out a bit of a statement and him say like regal trying to convince him to oh you should make the move go to go to Florida do WWE like you'll be great and
- 12:56[UNKNOWN]: and told him to, as soon as you don't like it, go.
- 13:02[UNKNOWN]: And he's stuck with that.
- 13:04[UNKNOWN]: He was in the company.
- 13:05[UNKNOWN]: He had his run.
- 13:06[UNKNOWN]: I think he signed around 2012-ish.
- 13:10[UNKNOWN]: left in 2017 of his own accord because he was not happy with the direction, he was not happy with the way he was being presented, how the cruiser weights were being presented and even when AEW came around similar to us, he goes, yes, I want to work for this company but I want to stay living in England and I want to stay with my family in Newcastle in England and therefore,
- 13:41[UNKNOWN]: it really derailed his career and he's had a few moments where you wonder if COVID-19 didn't happen, we are going to be talking about that Ironman match with Kenny Omega, obviously very early on at UW, the original match was meant to be
- 13:56[UNKNOWN]: pack and Adam Page, which didn't quite happen when it was supposed to because of these are issues or that conspiracy is going round about that.
- 14:06[UNKNOWN]: But he's had all these moments where he's been derailed and unfortunately it seems that the wrestling never stops.
- 14:14[UNKNOWN]: We use that phrase all the time.
- 14:15[UNKNOWN]: It never stops, even during a global pandemic, wrestling was still happening.
- 14:20[UNKNOWN]: And AEW kept evolving, and more people kept on coming over.
- 14:26[UNKNOWN]: And it felt like it was difficult for him to kind of carve out his space again.
- 14:32[UNKNOWN]: What could have been, he could have been volatile contender, you know?
- 14:36[UNKNOWN]: And it was definitely poised that way in very early AEW, and I think that's what I mean by when we take for granted, because you look back at his body of work and you go,
- 14:50[UNKNOWN]: one of the best in the world.
- 14:51[UNKNOWN]: And what I'm saying that I'm like top five of what this man can do in the ring and has been that for for years.
- 15:01[UNKNOWN]: So it is unfortunate, the visa issues, the pandemics, the injuries and all that, but we're still very lucky that there is a lot of work out there and starting his career
- 15:13[UNKNOWN]: when it pretty much everything starts being documented that we can go back and enjoy so much of this guys incredible work.
- 15:22[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, there's so much of it.
- 15:23[UNKNOWN]: Like, yes, you may know him from his run, King of the Cruiserweights, or NXT Champion.
- 15:31[UNKNOWN]: Maybe you you remember him in a cape.
- 15:36[UNKNOWN]: Hmm, fighting alongside superheroes.
- 15:39[UNKNOWN]: Maybe that's where you remember.
- 15:40[UNKNOWN]: Or maybe you remember him as a supervillain because this run is the bastard.
- 15:44[UNKNOWN]: There's so many different...
- 15:46[UNKNOWN]: iterations of them, and so many different companies, like we're going to talk about seven specific matches, again, and we have them linked in the description and our stuff here, but there's so many others and out there and moments and whatnot.
- 16:01[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, if you listen to us, you might note that we do NXT every Tuesday on Post Wrestling, but he was a huge part
- 16:13[UNKNOWN]: Black and gold era of NXT, like one of the big matches we'll talk about, but many matches like think of when you first saw the red arrow, you were probably like what was that and even to this day when he hits that move, it's like such an impressive flight.
- 16:30[UNKNOWN]: Free Sami Zayn, pre Kevin Owens, pre Finn Balor, Kentor, Joe, all of them, before Enix Adam Cole and the Undisputed Era.
- 16:41[UNKNOWN]: Before it became the Super Indies, and we're watching this,
- 16:46[UNKNOWN]: developmental company, you know, and some great people have come out of that as well through their developmental, but he was the first guy that it was like, whoa, this guy is doing WWE developmental and really probably open that door for all the aforementioned names to come in and help really
- 17:08[UNKNOWN]: Kickstarter NXT being the hottest thing.
- 17:12[UNKNOWN]: I would say it picked up kind of after he left is when it got to its peak of takeovers and arenas but it was the groundwork he laid out and him and Sammy especially what they did in that company that really helped everyone coming and after there to make it this big big thing and really the most exciting product in wrestling
- 17:38[UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's crazy, because you mentioned he did the backyard wrestling route, which, you know, most wrestlers like your Ospreys or Hardy boys obviously with the backyard wrestling, but then like the the British wrestling scene and and kind of
- 17:56[UNKNOWN]: You know, in probably in the the twilight of those those other guys that you've mentioned to me and we I know we were just at that ref pro show, but a month ago what like a jodie flesh and there's there's some people in that era that probably rub shoulders with him and
- 18:12[UNKNOWN]: Also, like they were setting up sort of groundwork that maybe they never were able to reach the WWE there was there was like a weird thing a disconnect right so he is one of the one the packet signed in like 2012
- 18:28[UNKNOWN]: because I think we do the, the, the wasnex and it's around that time when they first start going into full sale and and everything and he's the first NXT tag champion shout out all of her gray.
- 18:48[UNKNOWN]: This guy gets injured.
- 18:49[UNKNOWN]: Okay, yes, and then bow dials.
- 18:51[UNKNOWN]: And then I think he wins it again with Corey Gore-Aves.
- 18:54[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, right, yeah.
- 18:56[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, like he, he's kind of been through everywhere.
- 18:59[UNKNOWN]: And I wonder if like the classic, hey, the B all end all, especially if we're going back to 2012, was, well, WWE's the dance.
- 19:08[UNKNOWN]: It's the only dance in town.
- 19:10[UNKNOWN]: And I guess if I want to be, you know,
- 19:14[UNKNOWN]: prove successful.
- 19:16[UNKNOWN]: I guess I have to maybe end up there.
- 19:18[UNKNOWN]: So I guess that's, you know, that's not the thing into into, in a today's age with all the other stuff.
- 19:23[UNKNOWN]: But I know him from these, these like YouTube clips or, you know, social media clips of him doing insane shooting star presses red arrows, dragon
- 19:39[UNKNOWN]: 2000s music and that's where I'd probably would be like he's fits in those crazy those hype videos because he must have made a name for himself and Japan would drag and you get all that stuff so he's really been in a lot of places around the world and I can think of like I can imagine myself around that time sort of 2007 or whatever and liking wrestling and other people being like
- 20:06[UNKNOWN]: a pack highlight real and say yeah well look at this and it's stuff that you go don't get wrestling but that's pretty cool like didn't think the human body could do that that's pretty cool and definitely one of those type of wrestlers
- 20:22[UNKNOWN]: Well we're going to go through these seven matches.
- 20:25[UNKNOWN]: Again, these are all totally free to watch and there's so many others will always take in account any other matches or moments that you leave in the comments or what not would love to hear them.
- 20:38[UNKNOWN]: I loved AW's tribute show to Pike last week.
- 20:42[UNKNOWN]: We did do a whole conversation about it just last week.
- 20:45[UNKNOWN]: talking about it on an episode of Poison Runup Live, and it hit us in the fields with all the emotional connections, Osprey, Ricochet, the black arrow from Osprey, Brian Danielson coming out of retirement to join the death riders, like there was just so many moments on that show, and the video they used of Pack, who is just
- 21:09[UNKNOWN]: Coming off of you know, they're all just coming off of losing Andy Williams the butcher so they were using clips of basically him and I use it off the top of our show here of basically saying see when I see you and and you know reminding people tell people you love that you love them because
- 21:32[UNKNOWN]: fantastic job and there's also little things you learn.
- 21:37[UNKNOWN]: Like, you see my more of a a private kind of character, almost living in the K-fabe a little bit, especially with the bastard character.
- 21:45[UNKNOWN]: When everyone says he was just this like teddy bear of a person and could be further from like the bastard character, you know, like married, had a dog, loves
- 22:00[UNKNOWN]: the reason of his name comes from his dad because he I guess this guy was just always in peak physical shape because his dad used to call him six pack therefore he couldn't use that I guess because ex-pock used it in w stubby so he's like oh pack like two pack okay pack so that's where he came up with the name and I just thought the all the little things on that trippy show to kind of feel you in the in the gaps and especially the note from um his his wife his widow uh man it was a very emotional show ups and downs for sure
- 22:31[UNKNOWN]: I fight and I've heard other people say that this, there's almost this clock and element to him because you see him in the ring and he looks like especially when he adopted that bastard character.
- 22:43[UNKNOWN]: He looks like this evil bastard jacked troll, right?
- 22:50[UNKNOWN]: He's just like he's gonna fuck you up and he's shredded and then you see him like
- 22:57[UNKNOWN]: outside and he's got sometimes a bucket hat on some glasses, a button up polo shirt and just like the most unassuming dude and you could imagine him just walking through the streets a new castle, walking, what is it?
- 23:15[UNKNOWN]: We'll feed the dog his little sausage dog wearing his bucket hat and he's probably passing so many people that have no idea that this guy has
- 23:27[UNKNOWN]: wrestled at WrestleMania and it's on national TV and it's a business day live on TV and it's a bastard like he You know, there's always that thing with a superman, right?
- 23:39[UNKNOWN]: Well, sorry Clark Kent just takes of his glasses and we're not supposed to realize he's Superman But just so on assuming this guy in every day life where I completely believe it that this man
- 23:51[UNKNOWN]: This is his alter ego, this is his, his double life that he's living, it's really quite crazy.
- 23:59[UNKNOWN]: Well, we're going to go through the, the best matches that we could find.
- 24:04[UNKNOWN]: We compiled this list of looking at a whole different set of things.
- 24:07[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, the website cage matches a great help when it comes to stuff like this.
- 24:11[UNKNOWN]: But there's tons of other articles, read it.
- 24:14[UNKNOWN]: There's so many other sites where people are always posting, you know, different,
- 24:20[UNKNOWN]: match best devs and what not in fact some of the matches we're gonna talk about there's rematches on rematches upon rematches of of these things so i'm sorry if we picked one over the other and and this and that but it is it is hard and we want to do singles matches because it's we're trying to focus on pack you know at least with this list we've got
- 24:43[UNKNOWN]: all seven opponents of pack are completely unique and individual, wink, wink, nudge nudge.
- 24:49[UNKNOWN]: Yes.
- 24:49[UNKNOWN]: And that brings us to our first one of El Generico.
- 24:54[UNKNOWN]: First is pack from the PWG, well, for the PWG world championship at PWG, all star weekend on April the 7th, 2000 and 7th.
- 25:07[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, okay, so 2007, that's crazy.
- 25:11[UNKNOWN]: The mentioning, first time I've definitely really knew who he was was NXT and this is many years before that.
- 25:18[UNKNOWN]: But PWG wasn't as accessible maybe as it is now.
- 25:22[UNKNOWN]: Now I found this match pretty easy on YouTube because someone had uploaded it like a year ago.
- 25:27[UNKNOWN]: Since the passing of pack, I've noticed a few people online have uploaded some even more.
- 25:33[UNKNOWN]: rare candies of matches from PWG and Dragon Gate and stuff, but this one unanimously online seemed to get a lot of love in different forum boards and stuff like that, so I have never seen this before, and I'm almost ashamed to admit that I had never watched a pack versus generic
- 26:00[UNKNOWN]: But, you know, I wrote some of our T's for sure between the two, but between the two of them, but I watched it here today and here it is just on YouTube and it's a PWG, you know, indie, shindy little match, but holy cow, look at the talent because as we're recording this Wednesday, October the 7th,
- 26:20[UNKNOWN]: One of them is WWE World Champion, and the other is no longer with us.
- 26:24[UNKNOWN]: So these are very emotions, high matches I'm going through today.
- 26:30[UNKNOWN]: I've just like whirlwind roller coaster of like, okay, wait.
- 26:33[UNKNOWN]: These people are still on TV.
- 26:34[UNKNOWN]: These people are no longer with us.
- 26:35[UNKNOWN]: These, it's very emotional.
- 26:38[UNKNOWN]: but also this is in fact a rare candy because maybe you've never seen this is PWG you had ordered the DVD at one point the only way to watch this so here it is on YouTube and wow what a match we're going to get into.
- 26:53[UNKNOWN]: So we're at the Van Noes Armoury IP707 uh throughout these matches we definitely see the evolution of pack because here he's looking
- 27:08[UNKNOWN]: There's a bit of a six pack there, but not the 12 pack.
- 27:12[UNKNOWN]: He goes on to produce.
- 27:14[UNKNOWN]: We have streamers kicking off the match.
- 27:16[UNKNOWN]: It seems that this cloud know what they're about to get into.
- 27:21[UNKNOWN]: We see Rick Knox, referee who has a little bit of hair here, but still wears the awful baggy pants.
- 27:28[UNKNOWN]: And we still have a bag bag.
- 27:30[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we have a handshake start things off.
- 27:32[UNKNOWN]: We get a worse lock to generico as generico is elbowing out of the way slow.
- 27:39[UNKNOWN]: Each time kind of go he he and getting a little bit of laughter from this crowd.
- 27:44[UNKNOWN]: Pack things to get the early advantage of generico and there's a bit of a handshake, a bit of sportsmanship going on here.
- 27:52[UNKNOWN]: Sami now grounds pack with a wrist lock and a pack catches El Generico with a Hurricane Rana sending him to the outside, um, Excalibus on the call for this and
- 28:05[UNKNOWN]: The focus on this match for Excalibus seems to be the mouthguard.
- 28:09[UNKNOWN]: That pack is wearing.
- 28:10[UNKNOWN]: He is going off about this mouthguard and how it's to protect him from concussions.
- 28:16[UNKNOWN]: Many people think it's to protect the teeth, but it's actually to help not get concussions or KO'd.
- 28:23[UNKNOWN]: Pack rolls out of the ring and hits an Irish rip whip that gets reversed and back dropped onto the apron.
- 28:31[UNKNOWN]: Pack comes back, springing into a hurricane runner, followed by a beautiful dropping, sorry, drop kick where he flips backwards, which sends generico out the ring again, and this leads to another handshake for sportsmanship.
- 28:46[UNKNOWN]: things get a little bit more heated here with some stiff kicks to the chest from pack.
- 28:50[UNKNOWN]: He gets whipped into the corner, but leaps straight up to the top row, no hands and hits a beautiful sky twist to press.
- 28:59[UNKNOWN]: Over, I guess, not a press, but a sky twist to over their head of
- 29:09[UNKNOWN]: tilto-world twisting rana, followed by running the ropes, and then gets caught into a tilto-world backbreaker.
- 29:16[UNKNOWN]: This is where the speed of the match is really picking up, and both kind of one-uping each other.
- 29:23[UNKNOWN]: Generic of then tries for a tombstone, but pack gets out of it, and hits another
- 29:37[UNKNOWN]: But like a yeah, so it's it's almost of it's not a full rotation double moon salt.
- 29:43[UNKNOWN]: It's about a moon salt in the half because he's trying to send it so full for 50 right.
- 29:46[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 29:46[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 29:46[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 29:46[UNKNOWN]: Oh 5 0.
- 29:47[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's right.
- 29:47[UNKNOWN]: Yes, that's for seven like that.
- 29:48[UNKNOWN]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
- 29:56[UNKNOWN]: I guess so.
- 29:57[UNKNOWN]: But Stanley Jericho, but he's standing here.
- 30:00[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, which was yeah.
- 30:02[UNKNOWN]: This is ridiculous.
- 30:04[UNKNOWN]: Jericho, sorry, generico rolls out the way of this, but does look rocked by kind of the offense he's been taking from pack.
- 30:13[UNKNOWN]: This leads into an elbow exchange and then pack.
- 30:17[UNKNOWN]: hits his own blue thunder bomb on generico goes the second rope for his second rope Phoenix splash and then back flips off the rope into a swinging DDT which gets countered into a blue thunder bomb from generico in a awesome sequence.
- 30:36[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, very powerful.
- 30:37[UNKNOWN]: Then hits on of many poison runners and after watching, you know, we're partial to a poison
- 30:47[UNKNOWN]: But seeing some of these ones packed delivered, he would always almost like stinos Frankenstein, which was always like spiking the head, more of a driver than like the flip.
- 30:56[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 30:57[UNKNOWN]: I feel his poison ran as very much like this.
- 30:59[UNKNOWN]: It's a driver.
- 31:01[UNKNOWN]: Has it?
- 31:01[UNKNOWN]: I think it's, I think it's for, we're free to say, like, he has definitely made that move one of his own, like I know a lot of wrestlers do the poison ran out.
- 31:11[UNKNOWN]: But I definitely think Pac is someone who could claim that move.
- 31:16[UNKNOWN]: when he randomly hits it on people like no one just hits that move when attacking someone from behind but he has like on that offspray on the ramp it's like it's a pretty deadly looking move so uh yes pack we honor you because you loved a good poison ranna and uh well so do we but yeah uh there's lots of poison ranna's we'll talk about in in these matches
- 31:37[UNKNOWN]: Generico hits a big boot, but pack comes back with a shooting star knee drop to the map, which just looks fucking nuts, only a two count, and then a dragon rana from pack, which if you don't know what a dragon rana is, it's the front flip centon into the hurricane rana.
- 32:00[UNKNOWN]: So you're going one way, then you're going the other thing of you.
- 32:03[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 32:04[UNKNOWN]: Ray Mysterio used to do a lot of these, but I'd say in your dragon gates and your PWG's guys like pack in even generico would totally do things like this.
- 32:14[UNKNOWN]: There's so much snutt like it's so snug of how they do it.
- 32:18[UNKNOWN]: I have no idea how you do the dragon ronum, but it is crazy.
- 32:22[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, doing a summer salt front flip, catching them with your legs, and then once again, before you even hit the ground, you're then flipping one more rotation to then try to pin them.
- 32:31[UNKNOWN]: It's a thing of beauty.
- 32:34[UNKNOWN]: I think something that's so impressive with Pack, even way back in 2007 is, I enjoy high-flying people, but I think there's so much where I see a guy go up and they hit a million rotations, but then it looks like the actual offensive move doesn't really hurt.
- 32:53[UNKNOWN]: It's spectacular to look at, but I do feel packs.
- 32:58[UNKNOWN]: looks like offensive, you know, it looks like it's doing damage to the other person and it looks, it's the snappiness and I always think of Regal in our NXT.
- 33:10[UNKNOWN]: He says, Adrian Neville, he's not quick, he's sudden and I think there is something about that where he is sudden, you said snug and snappy, where all of these moves, the rotations look like it makes the move hurt more and he's landing it.
- 33:26[UNKNOWN]: so precisely that it looks great, it looks incredible and I think very few, I think I'll spray definitely follows in his footsteps with that, but I think there's very few who's high-flying style looks as vicious and dangerous as packed it.
- 33:43[UNKNOWN]: It makes sense, yeah, you're not just doing flips just to do it, you're doing it because it is an offensive move and he definitely
- 33:53[UNKNOWN]: Pack charges in with the Lariat, but gets caught with an exposure into the corner, followed by a haluver kick and a half and a half suplex for a two great sequence here, the crowd are getting louder and louder.
- 34:06[UNKNOWN]: Genericose sets pack up the top rope for the top rope, brain buster, but pack counts as it by getting on his back.
- 34:14[UNKNOWN]: At this I had to, I had to rewatch this.
- 34:17[UNKNOWN]: There are no replays on the replays in some of these were watching.
- 34:20[UNKNOWN]: trying to figure out what I just saw.
- 34:23[UNKNOWN]: So packs slips out the brainbuster and is then on the back, like in a backpack position, on the top rope, hooks his legs onto the arms,
- 34:37[UNKNOWN]: And I guess it's like almost like a reverse code read off the top rope kind of like a poison runner except he's using your armpits yeah yeah your armpits to do the flip instead of the like head on the shoulders essentially so yeah very cool looking spot.
- 34:56[UNKNOWN]: This looks absolutely not and I think if people are looking in wrestling for food you moves
- 35:02[UNKNOWN]: Have a look at it.
- 35:03[UNKNOWN]: Think of, yeah, think of the, there's like so many pinning attempts that people do.
- 35:07[UNKNOWN]: Is it like victory role or Connor role where you're using that part, like the armpits and then the thing out where, but here they're using it to flip them backwards.
- 35:14[UNKNOWN]: So kind of like a poison around it.
- 35:16[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's really cool.
- 35:17[UNKNOWN]: Pat goes straight to the top rope and hits a black arrow for a two count and then okay.
- 35:24[UNKNOWN]: Pat climbs the top and hits
- 35:28[UNKNOWN]: What I would describe as what?
- 35:30[UNKNOWN]: A Reverse 720?
- 35:33[UNKNOWN]: Do a double moon.
- 35:33[UNKNOWN]: Generic home moves out the way.
- 35:36[UNKNOWN]: And Pat lands right on the back of his head.
- 35:41[UNKNOWN]: And let's just look insane.
- 35:44[UNKNOWN]: This is a legit double moon, but he moves out of the way.
- 35:46[UNKNOWN]: So there's no water in the pool.
- 35:48[UNKNOWN]: So there's some other thing where he spins.
- 35:51[UNKNOWN]: A quick you crazy he lands on his back though, so it's it's got that extra rotation So he because he falls and hits the back so it hit maybe this is also the 0 5 40 Or it's sorry whatever the 0 5 4 because I don't even know what this is He doesn't connect with it, but still it looks like in saying he hits the map this at such speed again
- 36:16[UNKNOWN]: I had to rewind this to check what I was watching with my own eyes here.
- 36:21[UNKNOWN]: So Jenerico's been rocked, but managed to get out of the way of this move, and pack is obviously rocked after jumping on his head.
- 36:30[UNKNOWN]: So Jenerico crawls over, hooks the leg, one, two, pack kicks out.
- 36:36[UNKNOWN]: Jenerico then sets up pack for a brainbuster this time on the apron.
- 36:41[UNKNOWN]: but it gets blocked with a gallon geary, packed leaps off the turnbuckle with a kick to the jaw, but generico dodges out the way of this and delivers a half and half suplex onto the ring apron.
- 36:53[UNKNOWN]: Just look deadly, dropping him on the back of his head, rolls back into the ring, one, two, but packed kicks out.
- 37:02[UNKNOWN]: Pac then climbs to the top of the turn buckle.
- 37:05[UNKNOWN]: He's sort of sat there when Genereco runs at him.
- 37:09[UNKNOWN]: Somehow gets his leg all the way up to Huluva Kick pack.
- 37:14[UNKNOWN]: While he sat on the turn buckle here, I don't understand how.
- 37:19[UNKNOWN]: And then Genereco
- 37:21[UNKNOWN]: follows up with the brain buster to the turnbuckle pinning pack 1, 2, 3 in 16 minutes and 40 seconds.
- 37:34[UNKNOWN]: This brain buster, okay, I'll give generico the benefit of the doubt.
- 37:39[UNKNOWN]: Did you purposefully try to miss the first turnbuckle?
- 37:42[UNKNOWN]: Because the commentary I think it's Excalibur is like, he didn't even hit him on the top turnbuckle.
- 37:48[UNKNOWN]: He hit the middle one.
- 37:50[UNKNOWN]: I think like missed it and Ross Spray one, it's an exact or the Kenny one, the Takeshita Oh, yeah, the Takeshita one we were at it's exactly Takeshita is basically the love child of Generico and Kenny and Bushi all rolled into one because this finish
- 38:07[UNKNOWN]: is insane.
- 38:08[UNKNOWN]: So, okay, never seen this match before.
- 38:11[UNKNOWN]: I've seen Sami Zayn and Pack in NXT.
- 38:14[UNKNOWN]: We'll talk about it in a few many times, but this is crazy.
- 38:20[UNKNOWN]: Imagine if they definitely probably tried to do this.
- 38:23[UNKNOWN]: in their finish and NXT and they're like, no way are we letting you build them all all them like, no, no, no, no, no, okay, stop with the belt as well when a crisis is a conscience instead of like, okay, so this is from 2007 and I only just watch this.
- 38:43[UNKNOWN]: Right now up or whatever reason if you've never watched it you should go out of your way to it is crazy I think if this wasn't in 2007 if this wasn't the The like you have to have the DVD and internet is an as accessible than YouTube and streaming services and Billy TV or watch wrestling or whatever These you know pirate wrestling sites that we all have now this would have been way more talked about
- 39:09[UNKNOWN]: if it had like the eyes on it because it kind of flies under the radar.
- 39:15[UNKNOWN]: Yes, it makes a lot of people's lists now in reddits and threads and cage matches got a pretty good rating.
- 39:21[UNKNOWN]: I'm looking out right now.
- 39:22[UNKNOWN]: But I think if this wasn't the, hey, you have to, if you know, you know kind of cool factor of PWG, this would have been talked about a whole lot more because bell to bell,
- 39:35[UNKNOWN]: This is a better, crazier match than their NXT championship match.
- 39:41[UNKNOWN]: However, this doesn't have the WWE production, the WWE crowd, the WWE story, if I will.
- 39:50[UNKNOWN]: But if you're asking me in-ring action, this match is nuts.
- 39:54[UNKNOWN]: And they are...
- 39:55[UNKNOWN]: in 2007 and go on to be huge stars in the world of wrestling.
- 40:00[UNKNOWN]: So this was such a treat to watch and I was putting off watching this for today just to see it for the first time and like I cannot get that brainbuster out of my head.
- 40:11[UNKNOWN]: I don't know who is crazier, whoever pitched this or whoever took this and that was packed ahead and the middle turn buckle in saying match up here.
- 40:20[UNKNOWN]: Take kick things off.
- 40:21[UNKNOWN]: Wow.
- 40:22[UNKNOWN]: like it, it's crazy.
- 40:23[UNKNOWN]: This was the first time I've seen this match as well.
- 40:26[UNKNOWN]: And we're talking over 19 years, you know, April will be the 20th anniversary of this match.
- 40:32[UNKNOWN]: That and crazy.
- 40:34[UNKNOWN]: You think you've seen everything there is to see in wrestling.
- 40:38[UNKNOWN]: And I've been watching both these guys wrestle for
- 40:43[UNKNOWN]: Almost 15 years, 15 years, whatever.
- 40:46[UNKNOWN]: And there's stuff in this match that I've never seen before.
- 40:49[UNKNOWN]: And not able to understand how it's done.
- 40:52[UNKNOWN]: When think the amount of wrestling we consume on a weekly basis.
- 40:56[UNKNOWN]: And I'm watching this 20-year-old match with two very prominent wrestlers who we've seen hundreds of their matches.
- 41:06[UNKNOWN]: And I'm still blown away and they're still surprising me with stuff they did 20 years ago.
- 41:11[UNKNOWN]: It's this was credit and I think this is the man that probably best shows off packs high flying.
- 41:21[UNKNOWN]: You know, he's a bit of a hybrid wrestler and definitely once he adopted the bastard relies less on his flying, even though he still includes it.
- 41:29[UNKNOWN]: But you can also see in this, there's still that.
- 41:32[UNKNOWN]: that brawler in him, they're still that technical side of him, he's not just going out there and like I wouldn't call this a SpotMonkey match.
- 41:40[UNKNOWN]: And I enjoy SpotMonkey matches, especially in India, the PWG, like there are a lot of fun.
- 41:46[UNKNOWN]: I would absolutely not call this one of then, because
- 41:50[UNKNOWN]: everything seems, there's such a flow to this map where everything connects together, it never feels like either guy are setting up, where they go, all right, we're going to do this crazy thing now.
- 42:01[UNKNOWN]: You know, when you see them really getting them to position, one thing just flow seamlessly into the other and they just find themselves in positions where, oh, well, I'm here now, so better hit you with a poison ranna, oh, I happen to be up the top,
- 42:20[UNKNOWN]: this was incredible.
- 42:22[UNKNOWN]: And yeah, yeah.
- 42:23[UNKNOWN]: I'm going five.
- 42:25[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I, I, I said it like I think Bell to Bell.
- 42:28[UNKNOWN]: This is better than the NXT match and trust me, going into the show.
- 42:33[UNKNOWN]: I had a little devil on my shoulder going, come on.
- 42:38[UNKNOWN]: You're the NXT guy, even podcasting about this guy for years.
- 42:41[UNKNOWN]: You can't say anything as better than that.
- 42:43[UNKNOWN]: And now I've watched the same
- 42:50[UNKNOWN]: years before that 2013 match or 2014 match and this is from 2007.
- 42:53[UNKNOWN]: Think of what what I was watching in 2007.
- 42:55[UNKNOWN]: It wasn't this.
- 43:02[UNKNOWN]: like PWG, I understand all the love and the lore, but it's not until all the years later we're little matches like this kind of get leaked out online on some random YouTube account, which I never watched it before and I'm sure a lot of people like us are excited to go and check things out like this, but this was just so great.
- 43:22[UNKNOWN]: And again, that brain bus is spot the double
- 43:32[UNKNOWN]: a machine.
- 43:33[UNKNOWN]: I love this.
- 43:33[UNKNOWN]: I also went five stars with this match.
- 43:36[UNKNOWN]: Like, yeah, how many people were in the crowd?
- 43:38[UNKNOWN]: Like, a hundred.
- 43:40[UNKNOWN]: If that, and these two went out and just crushed it, and then go on to be superstars in the world of wrestling for the next like 20 years.
- 43:47[UNKNOWN]: So, incredible shit right here.
- 43:50[UNKNOWN]: And always, remember to support your indie wrestling, because, uh, someone it was in this crowd.
- 43:55[UNKNOWN]: And for 20 years was like, I was there.
- 43:58[UNKNOWN]: For these guys, we've done a best match ever PWG.
- 44:01[UNKNOWN]: Many, many years ago, and could have easily slotted this one in to that, because this was just awesome to watch.
- 44:07[UNKNOWN]: So, way to start off this list with this one, because I would go must watch on this, great hidden gem.
- 44:13[UNKNOWN]: The reason we started doing this series, best match ever is because,
- 44:17[UNKNOWN]: We started finding weird little internet gems and matches and stuff like that and this went through the top 100, didn't we on cage Yeah, we just started going through random shit and and and found stuff that we had never heard about and sometimes people
- 44:33[UNKNOWN]: Messages and go ahead and know about that until you guys talked about it.
- 44:35[UNKNOWN]: So I know people out there are definitely heard about this one, but wow, this was a crazy watch.
- 44:39[UNKNOWN]: And in my, you know, I'm obsessed with my virtual pro 2 free edition and 64 amuletor, there is a top rope brainbuster super finisher that I gave to my guy.
- 44:50[UNKNOWN]: And it's not as good as this middle brain, we'll ask for it to catch the balls in your court.
- 44:56[UNKNOWN]: You need to do the middle rope, the middle term
- 45:02[UNKNOWN]: CageMatch has this at an 8.91.
- 45:05[UNKNOWN]: I couldn't find a melts rating.
- 45:08[UNKNOWN]: I know he does go to some PWG shows, but I couldn't find a rating.
- 45:12[UNKNOWN]: True.
- 45:13[UNKNOWN]: I guess because it's not one on CageMatch.
- 45:16[UNKNOWN]: If you didn't go to these shows, or you didn't buy the DVDs or get rips of them, like I don't know how you were watching these matches with PWG up until now, where people are kind of putting them out.
- 45:26[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, great sleeper hit.
- 45:30[UNKNOWN]: We are live on YouTube right now and the comments are open if you want to leave any of your memories, favorite matches, promos, pack moments, whatever throughout the show.
- 45:43[UNKNOWN]: We do have one from our good good friend.
- 45:45[UNKNOWN]: Sino Evil, John Sino, who says a hidden gem, pack versus amazing red.
- 45:51[UNKNOWN]: on the Rev Pro British J Cup 2019 show.
- 45:54[UNKNOWN]: Low key classic.
- 45:55[UNKNOWN]: Going to House of Glory Friday with Champa, Motor City Machine Guns, and Selena and Tommy End versus Leo Rush and Shotsie.
- 46:03[UNKNOWN]: Love you guys, miss you.
- 46:05[UNKNOWN]: So, Matt first is amazing red.
- 46:07[UNKNOWN]: It didn't make our list today, but I'm sure you can find this online.
- 46:11[UNKNOWN]: I know a lot of companies since the tragic news have been uploading a lot of his stuff for free.
- 46:19[UNKNOWN]: Sino's always good with the recommendations, so pack versus amazing bread.
- 46:23[UNKNOWN]: There you go.
- 46:24[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, he wrestled in so many repro-british Japanese all over the place.
- 46:29[UNKNOWN]: This guy was so cool.
- 46:32[UNKNOWN]: Thank you Sino.
- 46:34[UNKNOWN]: This takes us to our next match.
- 46:36[UNKNOWN]: And we're going to go to the UK for this one.
- 46:39[UNKNOWN]: We're going to go to sitting born in England at the Civil War Legislature Center.
- 46:46[UNKNOWN]: Sitting for all those.
- 46:48[UNKNOWN]: Sitting for all those.
- 46:51[UNKNOWN]: I don't know where this place is, okay?
- 46:53[UNKNOWN]: But it is a spectacular.
- 46:55[UNKNOWN]: It's the sitting-born spectacular for IPWUK on May 3rd, 2009.
- 47:03[UNKNOWN]: It is the American Dragon, Brian Danielson, first is the man that gravity forgot, pack.
- 47:12[UNKNOWN]: Um, they've met multiple times.
- 47:15[UNKNOWN]: Obviously, more recently in a W, they've had some matches in Rev Pro over the years.
- 47:20[UNKNOWN]: Sorry, in a ring of honor over the years.
- 47:23[UNKNOWN]: Um, but this one seems to be a bit of a hidden gem that popped up a few times and especially being on PAX shores.
- 47:30[UNKNOWN]: I thought it would be a a good one to include here.
- 47:34[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, super glad that you did.
- 47:36[UNKNOWN]: I have watched them in AEW, and I know that they've wrestled a few times in a few different places, and I saw a few ring of honor encounters pop up while trying to do some research, but it was this one that also got a lot of...
- 47:51[UNKNOWN]: I highly rated comments and reviews of people saying like, oh, this was like a pretty special match.
- 47:56[UNKNOWN]: And again, another indie match that took place only a few years after the match.
- 48:02[UNKNOWN]: We just talked about in 2009 and is this before after Daniel Sin signs with WWE, I always get that kind of timeline confused because he was with them and then he wasn't with them.
- 48:21[UNKNOWN]: Uh, is he going to stop to this during his hiatus?
- 48:25[UNKNOWN]: I'm wondering if it's during the break because, um, in 2007, in the match, we just watched Excalibur, who I believe was on the call, says that pack had only been in the U.S. for six months wrestling, trying to make a name for himself, which is crazy if in six months he put on a match like that caliber that we just watched.
- 48:45[UNKNOWN]: But now a few years later, and obviously he's,
- 48:47[UNKNOWN]: wrestled in the U.S. he's wrestled in Japan and here back in England, but you have the American dragon coming over to fade him on like his own kind of home soil here in the U.K. so.
- 49:00[UNKNOWN]: So it looks like this might be part of Danielson's kind of fair well-tour.
- 49:04[UNKNOWN]: He joins up to be an August garden of 2009 and this is May.
- 49:09[UNKNOWN]: So he's he's gonna go and he's gonna
- 49:12[UNKNOWN]: be on a game show and thank the bellows and get cool to know it's going to learn everything from the miss right yeah the miss is gonna teach him everything you know yeah i will say this is cool so i pw this is what is that's day and for like international pro wrestling or something i'm gonna imagine
- 49:33[UNKNOWN]: I'm going to assume that's what they see, okay, hold on, international for a restaurant.
- 49:39[UNKNOWN]: You're okay.
- 49:41[UNKNOWN]: You're sitting born spectacular.
- 49:43[UNKNOWN]: I don't know where sitting born is, but now I want to go there.
- 49:45[UNKNOWN]: I looked on a map.
- 49:46[UNKNOWN]: It looks really far from London.
- 49:49[UNKNOWN]: So that's, that's what I know about that.
- 49:52[UNKNOWN]: Okay, it's not, it's not a welcome London.
- 49:54[UNKNOWN]: It's in Kent.
- 49:55[UNKNOWN]: I know that from the werewolves of London
- 50:01[UNKNOWN]: Brian Daniel sends T-shirt here.
- 50:04[UNKNOWN]: Did you catch what he was wearing?
- 50:06[UNKNOWN]: Because he's in the UK, he's in Kent.
- 50:09[UNKNOWN]: He's in England.
- 50:10[UNKNOWN]: He's wearing, now the colors may have thrown me off.
- 50:14[UNKNOWN]: It was yellow with then his maroon color thing.
- 50:18[UNKNOWN]: But in the Oasis logo font and everything, it says cattle mutilation.
- 50:25[UNKNOWN]: If he were to bring this one back, but with the classic black with the white,
- 50:30[UNKNOWN]: Like color.
- 50:31[UNKNOWN]: Oh, man.
- 50:32[UNKNOWN]: So the PWT sell that shit.
- 50:34[UNKNOWN]: I would buy you one because that was that was a pretty cool look in T shirt there But yeah, this is pretty cool seeing Danielson and Pack in 2009 I was not aware that they had a lot of history up until like a W years when I was like, oh, they fought a bunch of times So cool that this is on our list here
- 50:53[UNKNOWN]: So Danielson comes out to the final countdown.
- 50:55[UNKNOWN]: We see a bit more of an evolutionary pack as he's grown out the facial hair a bit.
- 51:00[UNKNOWN]: He's put on a little bit more muscle since the 2007 match.
- 51:04[UNKNOWN]: And Danielson goes for the elbows to him immediately, but pack rolls out the way.
- 51:10[UNKNOWN]: We get a test of strength which Danielson kind of fakes pack out and delivers a wrist lock.
- 51:15[UNKNOWN]: But Pat flips out of it and hits a dropkick knocking Daniels and down.
- 51:19[UNKNOWN]: We have a bit of a stalemate here where both go back to their corners.
- 51:23[UNKNOWN]: I'm also pretty sure this ring in the early 2000s was the only ring they had in the UK.
- 51:31[UNKNOWN]: Because when I went to FWA in around 2-0-4, it was this red canvas.
- 51:39[UNKNOWN]: What is it?
- 51:39[UNKNOWN]: A 14 by 14 ring or a 16 by 16.
- 51:43[UNKNOWN]: It was always this one and and I'm pretty sure this is the same one here.
- 51:48[UNKNOWN]: So it might have been the only wrestling ring kicking about in the UK in the 2000s.
- 51:53[UNKNOWN]: We have another test of strength with Dan Wilson bridging out of it.
- 51:57[UNKNOWN]: Pack keeps trying to drive his knees down onto Dan Wilson, but he won't go down and eventually monkey flips pack.
- 52:04[UNKNOWN]: Pat then does his signature frontflips into the corner, which again, like talking about his his high flying and how, you know, it doesn't look like he's doing it just to show off.
- 52:17[UNKNOWN]: It looks like there's intention.
- 52:19[UNKNOWN]: Are you always thought of this with
- 52:21[UNKNOWN]: his flips, you know, the front hand springs he does into the corner because it's like a quick effective away of getting away from your opponent.
- 52:30[UNKNOWN]: I always call that the the pack escape.
- 52:33[UNKNOWN]: It's almost like, you know, Daniel Sins is where he backflips over the corner, right?
- 52:38[UNKNOWN]: His like power up.
- 52:40[UNKNOWN]: kind of escape kind of thing.
- 52:41[UNKNOWN]: That's totally packed where he would escape usually because I've watched seven of his matches here today.
- 52:47[UNKNOWN]: He does the flips and then he goes quickly springboards up and then drop kicks you.
- 52:53[UNKNOWN]: But other times he's doing it to get away from you and to gain offense.
- 52:57[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, totally makes sense.
- 52:58[UNKNOWN]: He's in the corner and tries to just run away, you could just grab his trunk and pull him back.
- 53:03[UNKNOWN]: But it's because it's such a sudden front flip.
- 53:05[UNKNOWN]: It's like, whoa, where you going?
- 53:07[UNKNOWN]: It's very impressive, right?
- 53:08[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, he always looks like a Ninja Turtle or a Power Ranger or something doing these multi flips, but then effortlessly, he doesn't even look like he breaks a sweat doing it.
- 53:20[UNKNOWN]: He follows up with a drop kick sending Danielson to the floor and then pack traps Danielson's with a leg scissors around the neck.
- 53:28[UNKNOWN]: But Danielson bridges out of this and transitions into a leg lock almost in like the sharp shooter set up or the cattle mutilation set up as he keeps snapping the legs backwards.
- 53:40[UNKNOWN]: And then Danielson taunts him a bit by wiggling his hips around seductively.
- 53:47[UNKNOWN]: shades of thaw venus here from Ryan Danielson.
- 53:52[UNKNOWN]: He then is the dazzle.
- 53:54[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this bit was cool.
- 53:57[UNKNOWN]: So Danielson's got this, the legs still twisted around his legs and he grabs the arms and you think he's going to go into some sort of surfboard or whatever, but rolls around so packed shoulders are on the map and it's almost like pack his surprise that there's a pin attempt here.
- 54:15[UNKNOWN]: So just kicks out after two.
- 54:17[UNKNOWN]: Danielson then sets up for a surfboard, but pack scurries to the ropes.
- 54:22[UNKNOWN]: Danielson comes in with some shoulder blocks and then sets up for the surfboard again, but this time is like fishhooking the nose and the mouth before going on to his back for the Mexican surfboard.
- 54:35[UNKNOWN]: We're getting all these submissions from Danielson, but they look nasty.
- 54:38[UNKNOWN]: He's were interested in our back whilst digging the elbow into the bone of the out of
- 54:46[UNKNOWN]: There was a good, he kept trying to go for specifically the Mexican surfboard and then pack what to get out of it.
- 54:51[UNKNOWN]: So Danielson would turn it into a different type of submission or surfboard.
- 54:56[UNKNOWN]: But finally getting in the proper one where then he's like wrenching on his face and his nose was quite nice and you know, Danielson just wants to do this like,
- 55:06[UNKNOWN]: British, what is what is regal scurfing?
- 55:09[UNKNOWN]: You know, he just wants to like, yeah, he just wants to like wrestle and grab things, but just yeah, that's what that's what it gets his rocks off here.
- 55:15[UNKNOWN]: So he's met his met his match with this guy who's just trying to escape him every hold here, but very technical match.
- 55:23[UNKNOWN]: Except before like it's, you know, uh,
- 55:26[UNKNOWN]: there's the difference between a submission that is as raw rolls on, like, and, you know, a side headlock is very much as raw rolls on.
- 55:36[UNKNOWN]: But you do it with that extra, like, talk and digging the fist into the ribs as you're doing it.
- 55:43[UNKNOWN]: It looks painful when it's, it's
- 55:45[UNKNOWN]: it's captivating to watch and it's just these little touches that that Danielson is greater and here just yeah, the pushing his elbow into the elbow joint as he's wrenching about the shoulder looks so painful and then follows this up with pushing the arm down for another pin attempt while still having him locked in a submission.
- 56:07[UNKNOWN]: It's great.
- 56:08[UNKNOWN]: There's then a back two flakes into a pin attempt, but pack a kick sound, but immediately gets caught into another arm bar.
- 56:15[UNKNOWN]: Pack starts to fight back for Danielson's delivering a nasty kick to the chest, which knocks him down.
- 56:21[UNKNOWN]: Danielson continues working the arm, but that pack keeps trying to
- 56:25[UNKNOWN]: fire up and as Danelson's charging at him, Pack is just still the quicker man side stepping him and eventually catches Danelson with a kick to the head to give himself some breathing room and both go to the opposite corners again.
- 56:40[UNKNOWN]: Danelson charges but gets sent to the outside and Pack follows up with a beautiful top rope springboard moon sole to Brian on the floor looked incredible.
- 56:53[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, very cool spot and such a small audience in crowd here that like everyone has to we've been there We go to a lot of shows where you say move it's like you don't have a lot of time
- 57:06[UNKNOWN]: We then get a spring ball cross 40 in the ring for a two count, Brian sidesteps a spring ball drop kick and now Danielsson goes up top hits his missile drop kick followed by the kick up charges that pack with a PK only a two count cattle mutilation gets locked in but pack rolls through breaks it but as soon as he gets to his feet gets hit with a German
- 57:29[UNKNOWN]: but pack flips out of this lands on his feet.
- 57:32[UNKNOWN]: It's a hurricane ranna followed up immediately by a sling shot cutter, but Danielson kicks out.
- 57:40[UNKNOWN]: Pack immediately goes to the top rope, but gets knocked off and then pack, sorry, Danielson goes for a back suplex.
- 57:49[UNKNOWN]: Pack counters this into a cross body for a two.
- 57:53[UNKNOWN]: Danielson counters that for a two count of his own.
- 57:58[UNKNOWN]: European clutches, all these different pinning combinations, and then the rolling back and forth with the rest getting a bit of a workout here, one, two, one, two, one, two, kick out, kick out, kick out.
- 58:11[UNKNOWN]: They get back to their feet.
- 58:12[UNKNOWN]: There's a nasty stiff forearm exchange and Danielson charges that pack, but pack wraps his legs around him with a cradle roll through for a two count.
- 58:23[UNKNOWN]: Danielsson back on his feet, sitting into the corner, moon salts overpacks head, and then it rolls through with a kick and some more pinnotempts, and then Pat comes back with a deadly looking brain buster, goes up top, goes for the Phoenix splash, but he misses, and then Danielsson comes in with a running gammon geary for a two, and this looked like he just took him in the fucking head,
- 58:53[UNKNOWN]: dragon that then delivers the hammer and elbow, sorry hammer and animal elbow strikes very like the the old, well the to soon be black poor combat club days, but pack kicks out just getting his shoulder up like it's it's like a twitch of the shoulder that the ref catches here.
- 59:14[UNKNOWN]: We get another cattle mutilation attempt, but Pat flips over for a penitemp from this.
- 59:21[UNKNOWN]: I don't know how he did this, but grateful that then back to their feet, trading roundhouses, we get a small package from Brian.
- 59:31[UNKNOWN]: Pat rolls it back for a package of his own for a two count, and Brian counters that, and eventually catches Pat off his guard, one, two, three, and the American dragon,
- 59:43[UNKNOWN]: puts away pack in 25 minutes, five seconds.
- 59:48[UNKNOWN]: And we get a bit of a handshake after this as the crowd are just losing their minds at what they just saw in, sorry, where are we again?
- 59:57[UNKNOWN]: Sitting boarding.
- 59:58[UNKNOWN]: Sitting, sitting born.
- 1:00:00[UNKNOWN]: No one was sitting by the end of this match.
- 1:00:02[UNKNOWN]: No one was bored by the end of this match.
- 1:00:05[UNKNOWN]: I loved it.
- 1:00:06[UNKNOWN]: This was, I
- 1:00:07[UNKNOWN]: this was awesome imagine seeing this what like again 100 people maybe if that in this in this room okay maybe too but still like you're seeing Daniel saying who okay already definitely had a name for himself by this time on the independence and as we said probably was already on his way
- 1:00:27[UNKNOWN]: just knowing that he is such a wrestling and I use like like he loves pro wrestling so much and to go over to the UK you know he wants to do that stuff.
- 1:00:37[UNKNOWN]: We've talked about Danielsyn we did a best match ever Brian Danielsyn many moons ago and we looked at some PWG we looked at some of his his international travels and anytime he went over to the UK to fight like what uh
- 1:00:52[UNKNOWN]: was a Doug Williams, who was he, who did he get in a match?
- 1:00:55[UNKNOWN]: Johnny St.
- 1:00:55[UNKNOWN]: I think was in a match too.
- 1:00:57[UNKNOWN]: We watched some crazy.
- 1:00:58[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we went to Johnny St.
- 1:00:59[UNKNOWN]: It was a tag match, right?
- 1:01:00[UNKNOWN]: I think.
- 1:01:01[UNKNOWN]: And like, you know, he just loves that.
- 1:01:03[UNKNOWN]: Like, if he goes to Mexico City, he wants to do the luchus stuff and do the tagment, like, he's just all about pro wrestling.
- 1:01:10[UNKNOWN]: He just looked like he was in his element and having
- 1:01:13[UNKNOWN]: the time of his life while trying to tie up packing all these submissions and then on the flip side pack is just you're going up against one of the best technical wrestlers ever and you're going banned for band you're going hold for hold and matching his
- 1:01:28[UNKNOWN]: his his freak here with like all these impressive feats with these crazy roll-ups back and forth and Those always make me nervous because like how did they do that?
- 1:01:37[UNKNOWN]: I never mess up like that.
- 1:01:38[UNKNOWN]: Guess that's why it's just not be Gaston be like oh yeah, it's like the bridge that you know the bridge out the pin where I just feel like 20 minutes into match I might be like I don't have the cool strength to do this right now
- 1:01:52[UNKNOWN]: I feel like these two could have done this for like two hours straight, like, you know, like they're just both work horses going banned for banned.
- 1:02:00[UNKNOWN]: I really loved this.
- 1:02:02[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if it got into the like violent, because it more, it kind of felt like a chess match of wrestling.
- 1:02:09[UNKNOWN]: And Danielson, you know, we say that quite often with a lot of his things.
- 1:02:12[UNKNOWN]: So, I really enjoyed this and I think
- 1:02:15[UNKNOWN]: I would watch them wrestle every time and it kind of, this one now makes me go, want to go back and rewatch.
- 1:02:21[UNKNOWN]: I know they've had a few battles in AEWS and FreeSyn, and I would like to rewatch that.
- 1:02:26[UNKNOWN]: I think just because like I'm sure they're going to do stuff that maybe they did in this match from all these years ago.
- 1:02:31[UNKNOWN]: But honestly, I really, really love this match.
- 1:02:34[UNKNOWN]: Another hidden gem here.
- 1:02:36[UNKNOWN]: But it felt more like this exhibition, chess game of a match, chess shadow boxing here, where they're,
- 1:02:42[UNKNOWN]: Just trying to do the submissions and trying to pin you.
- 1:02:45[UNKNOWN]: And that's anything in between is a little extra, but really like this athletic feet from these two.
- 1:02:51[UNKNOWN]: I, I just think so many of these shows in the 2000.
- 1:02:54[UNKNOWN]: And I, I went to something like British, British wrestling, uh, where you'd go and you'd see fake pain, and
- 1:03:04[UNKNOWN]: your hope has got you to hearty will be on the show and maybe Greg the hammer valentine is there signing what will be on the show and you're going to this resting show and you're hoping you see someone you know you're hoping gangrel shows up because you know here and then you see a match like this that you might you've probably never seen anything like this before and you're just blown away and watching this match I had to think that
- 1:03:32[UNKNOWN]: must have studied these matches, because I think I think Osprey very much follows in Pac's footsteps, and I think that very much follows in Danielsons.
- 1:03:45[UNKNOWN]: And I think whenever they've gone toe to toe, it's always
- 1:03:49[UNKNOWN]: Osprey kind of trying to prove that, you know, I can go hold for hold with you as well.
- 1:03:54[UNKNOWN]: And I can I can escape from your submissions.
- 1:03:57[UNKNOWN]: I might be the flyer, but there's more to me than just that.
- 1:04:01[UNKNOWN]: And that's what I got in this match.
- 1:04:03[UNKNOWN]: And I thought it was great watching it after the Genereko match, which is all about the flying.
- 1:04:08[UNKNOWN]: And here it's it's packed,
- 1:04:16[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:04:17[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I liked it as much, um, I, that's not knocking it.
- 1:04:21[UNKNOWN]: I would recommend this.
- 1:04:22[UNKNOWN]: It was just such a, such a good back and forth.
- 1:04:26[UNKNOWN]: I'd probably go like a 4.75, a 4.5 to a 4.75, really, like,
- 1:04:32[UNKNOWN]: I, the only thing wrong with it is that didn't do it for a whole hour because honestly, I think they probably could have because it was, it felt like this was 25 minutes and there was another like 20 minutes to go, you know.
- 1:04:46[UNKNOWN]: Like.
- 1:04:48[UNKNOWN]: If this was the main event, maybe it would be, but I was looking at the card, and this is like, fourth from top.
- 1:04:53[UNKNOWN]: You know, you've still got all these matches.
- 1:04:55[UNKNOWN]: I think it was Martin Stone in the main event of this show.
- 1:04:59[UNKNOWN]: No, it should have been these guys too.
- 1:05:02[UNKNOWN]: One, two, one, two, that Martin.
- 1:05:05[UNKNOWN]: Really?
- 1:05:06[UNKNOWN]: Danny Burke, Danny Burke, in the main event here.
- 1:05:09[UNKNOWN]: Wow.
- 1:05:12[UNKNOWN]: The state, right?
- 1:05:13[UNKNOWN]: It res in 2009, I guess.
- 1:05:18[UNKNOWN]: he was good.
- 1:05:20[UNKNOWN]: Okay, well, okay.
- 1:05:21[UNKNOWN]: Well, after this match, it had Marty's girl and Zack Saber Jr. teaming together to take on Joel Redmond and Mark Haskins.
- 1:05:28[UNKNOWN]: Wow, Brett Res.
- 1:05:30[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, crushing.
- 1:05:30[UNKNOWN]: I mean, that rule name is that stuck around for a bit.
- 1:05:33[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:05:35[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:05:35[UNKNOWN]: I agree.
- 1:05:36[UNKNOWN]: I went 4.75 with this one.
- 1:05:37[UNKNOWN]: I thought it was, I thought it was excellent.
- 1:05:39[UNKNOWN]: And, you know, maybe if this was main event, we'd have got that extra up.
- 1:05:44[UNKNOWN]: 12 minutes where it you get that then you're waiting for that strike exchange aren't you towards the like final stretch where it's like elbow pads off wrist tape off and now let's throw some hands like I think it's it's just maybe missing that but excellent technical match and absolutely love this
- 1:06:12[UNKNOWN]: Okay, but still, 2009, right?
- 1:06:15[UNKNOWN]: Like, that's crazy.
- 1:06:16[UNKNOWN]: He's already impressed us with these two matches.
- 1:06:19[UNKNOWN]: You can see it's, he's on his way to becoming.
- 1:06:23[UNKNOWN]: pretty good at this pro wrestling bit, he dabbles in a lot of other rest stuff we mentioned PWG.
- 1:06:31[UNKNOWN]: I even looked that he did a small tour with TNA, at some point it looked like Portugal and England and stuff ring a boner across the seas as well, but I'd say this guy gets pretty poppin with Dragon Gate.
- 1:06:47[UNKNOWN]: And that's kind of where we go next because again, I can't go anywhere without seeing clips of Specifically these two guys in clips of them doing double moon salts, dragon rawnas and everything and You know the other day.
- 1:07:00[UNKNOWN]: I was just like I like like many of us fans right now is
- 1:07:04[UNKNOWN]: I was in my feels about pack passing away and I was like, man, I just want to like go and rewatch some of his matches, but I knew today we were going to be doing that and I tried my hardest not to To go and put on some old dragon gate and this is exactly this scratch is the itch that I was waiting to go and watch because it's pack versus ricochet
- 1:07:28[UNKNOWN]: Yes, Pat Converti's Ricochet from the, for the open-the-brave gate championship at Dragon Gate Champion Gate 2011.
- 1:07:37[UNKNOWN]: Lots of gates there.
- 1:07:39[UNKNOWN]: March, first, when you go to an hall, there's three gates, three gates, so many gates, so many gates.
- 1:07:46[UNKNOWN]: Sony Gates.
- 1:07:47[UNKNOWN]: Korekin Hall Tokyo, Japan, we have packed out there wearing green as he's representing the faction, Junction 3, which was a formed earlier that year and was a super group of these three factions, World One, Kamikaze and Veteran Gun, Fight of Seemers, Hill Group
- 1:08:16[UNKNOWN]: Shingo Takagi at ring size cheering on like his stable mate pack also wearing green.
- 1:08:24[UNKNOWN]: So very cool.
- 1:08:25[UNKNOWN]: Very cool.
- 1:08:26[UNKNOWN]: Court, court, court and haul is a cool venue.
- 1:08:28[UNKNOWN]: They light a differently with Dragon Gate.
- 1:08:30[UNKNOWN]: It's very dark and and everything here, but it's cool.
- 1:08:33[UNKNOWN]: Again, if you found this on daily motions, so you can go and watch these matches, there are quite a few ricochet versus pack matches, but this one seems to be the one universally loved.
- 1:08:43[UNKNOWN]: So
- 1:08:47[UNKNOWN]: So, we continue seeing the evolution of Pack as he's looking a lot more jacked here and Ricochet hasn't quite put on the size that we see him have today.
- 1:08:58[UNKNOWN]: Yes, here though.
- 1:09:00[UNKNOWN]: He has hair.
- 1:09:01[UNKNOWN]: Yes.
- 1:09:02[UNKNOWN]: He has hair.
- 1:09:02[UNKNOWN]: It's not the fro, but it's like the fohawk kind of thing going on.
- 1:09:06[UNKNOWN]: And I notice he keeps fixing it in the match.
- 1:09:09[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:10[UNKNOWN]: Like I guess to be a heal like he's like, oh, my hair.
- 1:09:12[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, rub it while you can, but he play with it as much as you can.
- 1:09:17[UNKNOWN]: To see to see the styles ricochet has had when he's had hair.
- 1:09:23[UNKNOWN]: I think it's a good job.
- 1:09:23[UNKNOWN]: He shaped it off.
- 1:09:24[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:25[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:25[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:26[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:26[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:09:28[UNKNOWN]: pack, not-down ricochet immediately, goes sweet the legs, but ricochet backflips out the way.
- 1:09:34[UNKNOWN]: Backpack does his front flips into the corner and charges that ricochet with a kick, and then ricochet comes back with a tope suacida into a DDT on the floor, which looks very nice.
- 1:09:47[UNKNOWN]: He then delivers what I call like the reverse jaw breaker.
- 1:09:51[UNKNOWN]: Like he puts his head in the back in like the groove of the neck and the head to to park before dropping to his knees and wrenching his neck against that there.
- 1:10:01[UNKNOWN]: Look good.
- 1:10:02[UNKNOWN]: Followed by standing moon salt.
- 1:10:05[UNKNOWN]: pack, then hits this huge pop-up cutter, and we see Shingo, a young Shingo cheering on pack here.
- 1:10:13[UNKNOWN]: Ricochet then delivers a springboard into a rana, sending pack to the outside, and he's just waiting for pack to compose himself before he does something crazy, and he hits a cartwheel, and then up onto the shoulders into the electric chair position.
- 1:10:28[UNKNOWN]: But
- 1:10:29[UNKNOWN]: but packs sort of throws him off of his shoulders and follows up immediately with his deadly poison Rhanna on the floor.
- 1:10:38[UNKNOWN]: Like take this in, okay, like we saw on the tribute show with Ricochet and Osprey.
- 1:10:44[UNKNOWN]: This is a pack spot.
- 1:10:45[UNKNOWN]: We've seen a lot of the matches we're talking about today where he handsprings and somehow himself or his opponent, they end up on each other's shoulders and then it turns into some move.
- 1:10:59[UNKNOWN]: Here, this is Ricochet hand-springing, landing on the shoulders of pack, and somehow pack turns this into a poison-ronic.
- 1:11:08[UNKNOWN]: Do you understand?
- 1:11:09[UNKNOWN]: You don't understand, we cannot explain the visual of this.
- 1:11:14[UNKNOWN]: You know, it's spooky season, and we've done a bunch of Friday 13th reviews where we've gone off on Jason Voorhees and his teleportation, because at times in these matches, it feels like that, where you blink, and you're like, wait, Ricochet was on pack shoulders.
- 1:11:31[UNKNOWN]: How is...
- 1:11:32[UNKNOWN]: half a second later.
- 1:11:34[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:11:34[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:11:34[UNKNOWN]: On Ricochet shoulders, delivering a poison run.
- 1:11:37[UNKNOWN]: Like, yes, did my, did my stream skip a little bit.
- 1:11:41[UNKNOWN]: They're like, what happened?
- 1:11:42[UNKNOWN]: Because it is just like, whoa, whoa, how did that happen?
- 1:11:46[UNKNOWN]: Just insane.
- 1:11:47[UNKNOWN]: How did you land on his shoulders when the second ago he was, yeah, this was pretty impressive.
- 1:11:52[UNKNOWN]: And ever see.
- 1:11:54[UNKNOWN]: to balance, like, bass from both of them to pull off something like this is, these two, these two definitely have impeccable chemistry and they definitely match their free.
- 1:12:03[UNKNOWN]: Like, they're doing, in the opening, like, where they're testing of strength, briefly, they're doing, like, flips to get out of it.
- 1:12:09[UNKNOWN]: Like, the most non-chalant to them, but to us is like, whoa, how did you do that?
- 1:12:12[UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, I just could not,
- 1:12:15[UNKNOWN]: fat, I could not, I can't, I can't explain.
- 1:12:18[UNKNOWN]: I'm confused of how he countered the dude on his shoulders by slipping out and getting onto his shoulders and hitting the poison ranna.
- 1:12:25[UNKNOWN]: So this was impressive to say the least.
- 1:12:28[UNKNOWN]: So this is Japan.
- 1:12:30[UNKNOWN]: So you get a 20 count on the floor and the ref is counting.
- 1:12:33[UNKNOWN]: And Ricochet is rocked from that poison rana.
- 1:12:37[UNKNOWN]: We get to a 17 18 19 and Ricochet just makes it to the ring.
- 1:12:43[UNKNOWN]: But goes straight into a deadlift German with a bridge for a two count from pack the way the way pack can just pick you up stomach front on the map into this German is is impressive.
- 1:12:56[UNKNOWN]: We get a roundhouse kick in the corner from pack and then his second rope phoenix splash, but Rickshade gets out the way, this is something we saw Rickshade do in the in the Tribute match with Osprey, the the second rope phoenix.
- 1:13:09[UNKNOWN]: Rickshade then follows up by hitting a second rope phoenix splash himself, those for a springboard crossbody but gets caught, midair with leaping
- 1:13:22[UNKNOWN]: And that is when packs, sorry, junction three, shall I say, a rallying for pack, ricochet leaps to the top rope, but gets knocked off by pack, who climbs up himself and hits a shooting star into the knees and then ricochet delivers, what would you call this a backslide driver?
- 1:13:41[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's what it's called.
- 1:13:43[UNKNOWN]: Backslide into like a razor's edge kind of thing, a driver.
- 1:13:47[UNKNOWN]: It's just nasty.
- 1:13:48[UNKNOWN]: On the head.
- 1:13:50[UNKNOWN]: crazy.
- 1:13:51[UNKNOWN]: Ricochet goes up top and goes for the spiral tap, but pack gets out the way.
- 1:13:56[UNKNOWN]: Pack them flips.
- 1:13:57[UNKNOWN]: Ricochet over and delivers a high angle, like a bomb.
- 1:14:01[UNKNOWN]: He'd always like to live this to the top of the shoulders, the net.
- 1:14:06[UNKNOWN]: Right.
- 1:14:07[UNKNOWN]: What's the, I guess we call it the like Osprey escape where he usually drop kicks off your shoulders and then like back flips and then kicks you.
- 1:14:15[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:14:16[UNKNOWN]: So Ricochet used to do something very similar and he goes to do that and pat catches his leg and then like, you know, when you then flip the guy.
- 1:14:26[UNKNOWN]: Think in like a Jackie Chan movie where the guy goes to catch Jackie's foot and then they flip him.
- 1:14:30[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, except pack flipped him and Ricochet does a double moon.
- 1:14:37[UNKNOWN]: It's literally as a Jackie Chan spot here, it's like rush hour or two, where he gets flipped and lands, and then picks him up and dumps him with a liar bomb.
- 1:14:46[UNKNOWN]: And this was some crazy sequences from, these two are just showing off in this match, I think, at this point, because they're doing some things, the human body probably shouldn't be able to do, but I was, I was so into some of these over the top spots, and this double flip,
- 1:15:01[UNKNOWN]: slam and then he picks him up and hits the the Liger bomb and I would say pack has one of the best looking sit out power bombs the Liger bomb is so like so snug so brutal, but yeah crazy spots here
- 1:15:14[UNKNOWN]: Pat goes up top and goes for the red arrow, but Rickshay moves, runs into a gammon geary, we then get an enziguri and a poison runner from Rickshay, another poison runner, this time spiking pack and Rickshay goes up top and delivers the six, 30, but,
- 1:15:33[UNKNOWN]: pack kicks out and then Ricochet goes up once again this time delivering the double moon.
- 1:15:42[UNKNOWN]: And just just insane and puts him away 22 minutes 42 seconds.
- 1:15:51[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we're watching the best of pack and every match he's losing and there's a threat there.
- 1:15:56[UNKNOWN]: You don't have a lot of these best match.
- 1:15:58[UNKNOWN]: It is a trend on these shows.
- 1:16:00[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, usually your best match is when you're putting someone else over because you're getting your shit in, right?
- 1:16:04[UNKNOWN]: That's usually how it goes.
- 1:16:06[UNKNOWN]: I always think of, is it when Ricochet then signs with NXT does the war game match and Osprey watching at home is like, do a double moon you're puts and then he does.
- 1:16:17[UNKNOWN]: double moon is like I did it so I always think about that that's like gone do a double moon and then here he is Doing it and uses it as a finisher here in beats pack I love this match.
- 1:16:29[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I'd go a full five or say this is a five star classic, but
- 1:16:33[UNKNOWN]: This is easily a match you could put this could be someone's comfort match easily because it's not just a spot fest because there's a whole story of they they up the anti and the violence and the countering, but it's just nonstop from front to back just action and I was comparing it to a Jackie Chan fight, you know, it's just
- 1:16:53[UNKNOWN]: So entertaining and visually pleasing that I enjoyed this match so much.
- 1:16:59[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I'd go like the full five, but I'm in the The four the four point five, four seven five.
- 1:17:05[UNKNOWN]: It's so good that it's just I think I might have to to recommend this to some people of like who like the the flippy stuff.
- 1:17:12[UNKNOWN]: This is totally something for you because
- 1:17:16[UNKNOWN]: They look like it didn't even phase them or break a sweat to do some of this stuff.
- 1:17:20[UNKNOWN]: But I understand now, when you hear the the pack and the dragon gate, ricochet, era, and this kind of time, you get it now when you watch something as crazy.
- 1:17:31[UNKNOWN]: Look, this is 2011.
- 1:17:32[UNKNOWN]: Look where wrestling is right now in 2026.
- 1:17:35[UNKNOWN]: It's so inspired by these two guys, right?
- 1:17:38[UNKNOWN]: Like everyone's trying to do these kinds of moves and matches.
- 1:17:42[UNKNOWN]: So I think they kind of deserve credit for being ahead of their time in 2011.
- 1:17:48[UNKNOWN]: Cause we weren't watching you.
- 1:17:49[UNKNOWN]: If you were watching WWE, you weren't getting stuff like this in 2011.
- 1:17:53[UNKNOWN]: At all.
- 1:17:54[UNKNOWN]: No.
- 1:17:55[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I...
- 1:17:57[UNKNOWN]: I thought this would match for us so much fun, but I would say this is more spotty than the generic O1, which is in a similar vein.
- 1:18:06[UNKNOWN]: I think there's more.
- 1:18:08[UNKNOWN]: I think there was a bit more fluidity in the generic one.
- 1:18:10[UNKNOWN]: I'm probably a little stronger sense of storytelling.
- 1:18:14[UNKNOWN]: But this, as you said, this is one you can easily just roll on, show the people and enjoy it.
- 1:18:20[UNKNOWN]: Like, and just be wowed by some of the stuff they did.
- 1:18:23[UNKNOWN]: And yeah, again, there was stuff in this.
- 1:18:25[UNKNOWN]: I didn't really understand what I was watching or how to articulate what they were doing.
- 1:18:31[UNKNOWN]: So,
- 1:18:33[UNKNOWN]: I went 4.25 with that and and that's not a knock but I just it didn't necessarily have the maybe the psychology of the of the ones we talked about before this but still so much fun and and I I don't understand how double moons and six thirties and spy or tap going from one person shoulders and then you're on their shoulders is humanly possible but these two show you that it is.
- 1:18:59[UNKNOWN]: I also like the post-match, ricochet picks him up.
- 1:19:03[UNKNOWN]: But down, shakes his hand and then goes, actually fuck you.
- 1:19:07[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's probably my favorite post-match.
- 1:19:11[UNKNOWN]: Like you could, any, any heal, once you like, you're the heal and you win or lose and you go for the respect and then kick them in the balls, it's just the easiest.
- 1:19:21[UNKNOWN]: heat and I love it every time but yeah I really like this and this is totally a highlight real match where I would call it a classic but I liked other matches today more than this but out of all of them this is easily put this on and be wowed instantly front to back so really really glad we got to finally
- 1:19:40[UNKNOWN]: talk about this and watch it because I've seen so many highlight videos of this match over the years, but to finally watch it properly was a treat.
- 1:19:50[UNKNOWN]: So Shadow Dragon gave.
- 1:19:52[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, so he finishes up with the Indies and signs.
- 1:19:58[UNKNOWN]: Where was that?
- 1:19:59[UNKNOWN]: Did that get any ratings?
- 1:20:00[UNKNOWN]: That was 8.33 still yet to get a Meltzer rating.
- 1:20:10[UNKNOWN]: We're on our way.
- 1:20:13[UNKNOWN]: Packed finishes up with the Indies.
- 1:20:16[UNKNOWN]: Science with WWE in 2012, eventually makes his start in NXT and around, I think, 2013.
- 1:20:25[UNKNOWN]: And obviously, becomes NXT Champion, defeating Bow Dallas in a ladder match at, I always get it confused.
- 1:20:33[UNKNOWN]: Was it a rival, the ladder match?
- 1:20:34[UNKNOWN]: Yes, it was it, take it off the ladder match.
- 1:20:36[UNKNOWN]: It's all right, right, right is a rival, not the first one.
- 1:20:41[UNKNOWN]: the first one is that the one he yeah that's a lot of thinking a rival yeah yeah so February 27 2014 the the first event on the WWE network and that's something else
- 1:20:57[UNKNOWN]: hack and say is the main event of the first show on the WWE network first life event.
- 1:21:01[UNKNOWN]: We have we have talked about it.
- 1:21:04[UNKNOWN]: We do a show called was next again where we have been going through the old NXT and we we're on the road to the fatal four-way match currently where hack is champion.
- 1:21:16[UNKNOWN]: So if you're into
- 1:21:17[UNKNOWN]: hearing more of that, check out our Patreon for wasnex, because eventually we will get to this match, but we could not do this show without adding this.
- 1:21:27[UNKNOWN]: I think this was on a top of many people's top pack matches.
- 1:21:32[UNKNOWN]: Where we're at, we'll probably get to this match within the year, I
- 1:21:43[UNKNOWN]: In a way similar to what we had with the Kenny and Osprey story, very recently, where never was a baby face, but Sami's aim is just a bigger baby face at this point.
- 1:21:56[UNKNOWN]: So, to what I've got to be here.
- 1:21:59[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, Neville moves into kind of pseudo heel for this.
- 1:22:02[UNKNOWN]: He started to go on the TV and stuff.
- 1:22:05[UNKNOWN]: Some more heelist tendencies, a little few short cuts here and there to get to maintain being the champion.
- 1:22:15[UNKNOWN]: And the crowd are ready to see Sami win this title.
- 1:22:18[UNKNOWN]: So they're doing Neville in this match.
- 1:22:21[UNKNOWN]: Yes, Adrian Neville.
- 1:22:28[UNKNOWN]: I mentioned the apparent love of dance hall music.
- 1:22:34[UNKNOWN]: that pack had because many superstars in the past week with the tributes pouring in of mention he was a big fan of Jamaican culture dance hall reggae town and stuff but what I didn't know is that when they said hey welcome to WWE yeah you're not being called pack anymore you have to change your name he had a list of names that he was working on but Adrian Neville
- 1:22:58[UNKNOWN]: is something he chose because of a singer of a band, he loved called the Specials, which was like a scour Reggae Tom band.
- 1:23:07[UNKNOWN]: And then the singer was Neville Staples.
- 1:23:11[UNKNOWN]: So that's why he decided to go with, because he was a big fan of that band.
- 1:23:16[UNKNOWN]: But Neville, you know, he goes into the heel, kind of troll thing.
- 1:23:21[UNKNOWN]: Neville does kind of fit into that maybe a little bit, but I do think Pack is a cooler name.
- 1:23:27[UNKNOWN]: Yes, but I didn't I didn't mind Neville.
- 1:23:30[UNKNOWN]: I do prefer Neville to Adrian Neville, but Still I got some now I prefer Adrian Neville to just Neville because it's a real name.
- 1:23:40[UNKNOWN]: That's because
- 1:23:42[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but also Neville is tends to be the name of Dork's back home.
- 1:23:47[UNKNOWN]: Like, I don't think I've ever met a guy who Neville, who's cool, but you never win Harry Potter.
- 1:23:53[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, he's the dog.
- 1:23:55[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, Neville long-button, so it felt a little jarring for me.
- 1:24:00[UNKNOWN]: I thought Agent Neville worked, but it's a main.
- 1:24:04[UNKNOWN]: You know, they mention on commentary, sorry, this is for Cell University and Winter Park Florida on December 11, 2014 for NXT Takeover, or Evolution, NXT Championship on the line.
- 1:24:19[UNKNOWN]: They mentioned on commentary how these two used to be best friends.
- 1:24:22[UNKNOWN]: They used to write together.
- 1:24:24[UNKNOWN]: We've mentioned the scar music.
- 1:24:26[UNKNOWN]: We know Sami Zayn is a lover of scar as well.
- 1:24:29[UNKNOWN]: You've got to think that's what they were bumping on these car journeys, the two of them, right?
- 1:24:34[UNKNOWN]: Just Disney songs coming out.
- 1:24:36[UNKNOWN]: Oh, man.
- 1:24:37[UNKNOWN]: I've seen a great video of pack bumping the Phil Collins brother bear soundtrack.
- 1:24:43[UNKNOWN]: The sky's got ball knowledge deeper than I.
- 1:24:46[UNKNOWN]: Good
- 1:24:53[UNKNOWN]: So Bob and Doug McKenzie make an appearance in Brother Bear, but I have not watched Brother Bear in a long-ass time, but apparently, Neville was a big music fan and even loved his Disney soundtracks, so yeah, these two, what, listening to the Lion King while running through their match?
- 1:25:11[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and Skaw and Reggae and Watt.
- 1:25:14[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we go.
- 1:25:15[UNKNOWN]: They definitely were, yeah, they were definitely talking about the, their love of Skaw and Reggae and all that because these two, oh boy.
- 1:25:23[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I bet they had long conversations about that.
- 1:25:26[UNKNOWN]: We get huge Sami chance booze for Neville commentary at a saying that they can't stand each other anymore and that never, never even changed his training schedule to never be at the gym the same time as Sami.
- 1:25:38[UNKNOWN]: We start off with a bit of a feeling outstage.
- 1:25:40[UNKNOWN]: We're getting arm locks from Neville which Sami tries to reverse but Neville keeps up out of it and waves his finger like, no, no, no, no, you're not getting me that way.
- 1:25:50[UNKNOWN]: There's then a beautiful looking turquoise backbreaker from Sami sending Neville to the outside and Sami follows up with the Arabian press to the floor.
- 1:25:59[UNKNOWN]: We then get a massive upcut in the corner from Neville to Zain.
- 1:26:03[UNKNOWN]: And then a big missile dropkick from Neville and Neville starts mocking Zain at this point.
- 1:26:09[UNKNOWN]: He's delivering her water kicks and then runs straight into a short larryer from Sami.
- 1:26:15[UNKNOWN]: Neville then hits a hurricane rana sending zane to the outside.
- 1:26:19[UNKNOWN]: Neville goes to dive, zane is already back in the ring, and sends Neville to the outside and hits a huge tope con hilo.
- 1:26:29[UNKNOWN]: And I feel like I remember this tope being the one that's always in the highlight video is the net ecsty after this match.
- 1:26:36[UNKNOWN]: We then get a high cross from Zane and then the cartwheel into the electric chair from Neville, but gets mounted into a blue thunder bomb from Zane.
- 1:26:46[UNKNOWN]: Again, this is one of those blink and you miss it.
- 1:26:49[UNKNOWN]: How did they do that moments in this match?
- 1:26:52[UNKNOWN]: we then get a running up from Neville in one corner and saying follows up by going for the Huluva kick in the other corner but gets dodged and then Neville does his like the throw into the ropes rebound with the German Suplex to Zane here and followed by a sit-out power bomb.
- 1:27:13[UNKNOWN]: It's interesting, like it's on the Indies and AEW, you see him do the real high angle, sit-out power bomb like to the net.
- 1:27:21[UNKNOWN]: Here's more of a flatback, sit-out power bomb.
- 1:27:24[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:27:25[UNKNOWN]: Let's tell you how you do it.
- 1:27:27[UNKNOWN]: Zane is telling Neville to bring it more, they're going blow for blow, Zane gets out of the way of the low drop kick after the combination of kicks.
- 1:27:36[UNKNOWN]: goes for the haluva kick but Neville gets out the way and delivers a roundhouse to the temple and then goes up top as he goes for the red arrow but Zane gets the knees up and transitions right into the Koji clutch.
- 1:27:54[UNKNOWN]: Neville is scrambling, he gets to the ropes, but Sammy rolls him up for an airfall, there's kickouts and then Neville, as Sammy kicks out, Neville flies back and collides heads with the referee.
- 1:28:10[UNKNOWN]: So now Sammy is checking on the ref as Neville is regrouping and Sammy turns into a
- 1:28:19[UNKNOWN]: And I would have thought around this time in WWE, we weren't that used to seeing Poison Rana in matches.
- 1:28:26[UNKNOWN]: We did a lot now, but- No, yeah.
- 1:28:30[UNKNOWN]: This is definitely- This is definitely the start of seeing some stuff you've never seen in WWE.
- 1:28:34[UNKNOWN]: Blue Thunderbombs, Poison Rana's, the half and half Suplex, that they do.
- 1:28:40[UNKNOWN]: There's a lot of stuff that was like, whoa, that's kind of breaking the barrier a little bit, but yeah, really cool.
- 1:28:48[UNKNOWN]: We get a kick out here and then big ole chance from the full cell crowd, both are now on their feet.
- 1:28:53[UNKNOWN]: There's a forum exchanges, both are looking spent at this point and Sammy starts delivering the hatrick of Germans, but the third one, it's the half and half turning level inside out.
- 1:29:13[UNKNOWN]: Ev Azane goes for the Huluva kick, but Neville rolls to the floor, so Sammy stalks him and hits the diving DDT through the turnbuckle, always loved this move when he hit it, it was so unique.
- 1:29:27[UNKNOWN]: Again, this is something you never saw, and I know we, in our series was next, we've talked a lot about the Cesaro Sami Zane feud and matches in NXT and there are some spectacular stuff, but
- 1:29:40[UNKNOWN]: Again, it's so crazy.
- 1:29:41[UNKNOWN]: He still does it once in a while in WWE all these years later, but it is a bit of a big issue.
- 1:29:49[UNKNOWN]: He's a lot bigger.
- 1:29:50[UNKNOWN]: It's a lot tougher to do this move to run slide through the term buckle and hit it.
- 1:29:55[UNKNOWN]: But I remember in the video games when they finally added it, they managed to make it like a super finisher because it's such a cool looking spectacle, but yeah great looking spot.
- 1:30:06[UNKNOWN]: He rolls a pack into the ring, sorry, never into the ring.
- 1:30:09[UNKNOWN]: Sammy goes for the Hulu Vaguec again, but this time Neville pulls the ref in front of him and this poor ref eats shit.
- 1:30:19[UNKNOWN]: And to add insult to injury, the crowd start chanting, this ref sucks as he just
- 1:30:25[UNKNOWN]: ate a boot to the face.
- 1:30:27[UNKNOWN]: Neville then comes in with the title belt, but Zane boots it out the way, and now Sami looks at the belt.
- 1:30:35[UNKNOWN]: There's no chance he picks it up.
- 1:30:37[UNKNOWN]: Zane looks like he's gonna use it.
- 1:30:38[UNKNOWN]: He's got this crisis of conscience.
- 1:30:41[UNKNOWN]: and he says no.
- 1:30:43[UNKNOWN]: I'm not doing it this way.
- 1:30:44[UNKNOWN]: He turns to throw it away, but never rolls him up with a two count.
- 1:30:50[UNKNOWN]: Zane kicks out, hits an exporter into the corner, sets up for the Heluva kick this time, delivers it, and one, two, three, Sami Zane becomes your NXT champion in 23 minutes and 18 seconds.
- 1:31:08[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we said it.
- 1:31:09[UNKNOWN]: There's so much stuff that they got to do in this match that I feel like a lot of people in WWE never did when it came to the in-ring match and everything.
- 1:31:19[UNKNOWN]: Commentary doing a great job of explaining, like, hey, these two have written together, wrote together, they were fighting together.
- 1:31:26[UNKNOWN]: And we watched one of their matches from years, way before this one in like the Indies and everything.
- 1:31:31[UNKNOWN]: So it's cool to have the
- 1:31:37[UNKNOWN]: but with indie wrestlers who are like on top of the game was a great combo and that's why NXT works so well as you had this incredible stack talent of all these wrestlers Kevin Owens Neville, Sammy, Gargano, Champa, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:31:52[UNKNOWN]: and WWE made them look even better and created even bigger stars out of independent pro wrestlers.
- 1:31:59[UNKNOWN]: And this is an important match.
- 1:32:00[UNKNOWN]: This is for me the one match that like wow, this is still under a WWE umbrella, but look at what they were doing in between those ropes.
- 1:32:12[UNKNOWN]: And I think it's a very special match.
- 1:32:16[UNKNOWN]: that has happened in historical and and all that stuff that's why it's up on their YouTube for free and for everyone to watch and it's always brought up in conversation and everything.
- 1:32:26[UNKNOWN]: However, with years removed and
- 1:32:30[UNKNOWN]: putting this up against other matches and bell to bell action and stuff like that.
- 1:32:34[UNKNOWN]: I haven't necessarily watched this in a long time.
- 1:32:36[UNKNOWN]: I feel like I watched it quite a few times when it first happened in 2014.
- 1:32:41[UNKNOWN]: I probably called this my match of the year by the end of this this year.
- 1:32:45[UNKNOWN]: It was in the end of the year like December, right?
- 1:32:48[UNKNOWN]: But years removed.
- 1:32:50[UNKNOWN]: I think I'm
- 1:32:51[UNKNOWN]: maybe a bit removed from it personally.
- 1:32:53[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I would put this up against, again, the production, everything, it's so special in this big moment of Sami's aim, this underdog, character, and everything, and packed kind of having to play the heel.
- 1:33:06[UNKNOWN]: It's polished and it's still fantastic.
- 1:33:09[UNKNOWN]: It's such a good watch, but I said earlier, the bell to bell action in that
- 1:33:19[UNKNOWN]: and not a lot of people ever watch that match, which is kind of funny and maybe poetic at the same time.
- 1:33:26[UNKNOWN]: But I still love this, don't get me wrong, but I think I'm gonna go with a 4.75.
- 1:33:34[UNKNOWN]: And it may be, it's because there's one to many,
- 1:33:38[UNKNOWN]: headlock, rest holds, and one too many, ah, should I, should I hit him with the title?
- 1:33:44[UNKNOWN]: But I got to look at my hands before I'd make any decisions.
- 1:33:47[UNKNOWN]: And I've just thought, wow, you took these two great wrestlers.
- 1:33:51[UNKNOWN]: And you made them do WWE shit.
- 1:33:52[UNKNOWN]: And that is why my view on this batch has now changed.
- 1:33:57[UNKNOWN]: I'm sorry if I broke anyone's heart.
- 1:34:00[UNKNOWN]: No, I think it's fair, I think a lot of the other matches we can watch in a bit of a vacuum and they still hold up.
- 1:34:08[UNKNOWN]: Whereas this I think was really important for WWE at the time.
- 1:34:13[UNKNOWN]: And they sort of set the bar, you know, and we saw takeovers, like takeovers were must watch because their main events especially were exceptional.
- 1:34:24[UNKNOWN]: But they set that bar where now this is like
- 1:34:30[UNKNOWN]: We see this on the main roster in WWE.
- 1:34:32[UNKNOWN]: Let alone sort of what's going on in AEW.
- 1:34:35[UNKNOWN]: Like everything kept from being pushed further.
- 1:34:37[UNKNOWN]: And now this is quite standard.
- 1:34:39[UNKNOWN]: You know, we say, like, what's this?
- 1:34:41[UNKNOWN]: The first poison rhino we saw in in WWE, whereas we'll see Penta hit one every week now, you know, or Dragon Lee or whoever.
- 1:34:49[UNKNOWN]: So I think watching with today's eyes is a bit difficult.
- 1:34:53[UNKNOWN]: I think NXT in WWE,
- 1:34:57[UNKNOWN]: got really look at my hands for the next few years, but again, this is kind of one of the first examples and I think at this point, you know, when you're watching this week to week and you're really sucked into the Sami's own story of wanting to see him when this title and just thinking like this guy keeps on getting screwed from winning this thing and you finally feel is this it is this the moment.
- 1:35:23[UNKNOWN]: We years removed from it now where we don't have that feeling because
- 1:35:27[UNKNOWN]: We know he wins it, you know?
- 1:35:28[UNKNOWN]: And therefore, I think my grading for this would have been a lot higher in 2014.
- 1:35:36[UNKNOWN]: So it's grading with today's eyes.
- 1:35:40[UNKNOWN]: I don't think it's necessarily had the lasting power of some of the other matches we've seen.
- 1:35:45[UNKNOWN]: But I recognize, because we lived through it, how important this match was in just
- 1:35:50[UNKNOWN]: reshaping how wrestling is in WWE.
- 1:35:55[UNKNOWN]: Absolutely.
- 1:35:55[UNKNOWN]: It's still important.
- 1:35:57[UNKNOWN]: It's still, it really did do that.
- 1:35:59[UNKNOWN]: Like when it comes to WWE matches, I really think this is better than a lot of stuff they were doing especially around this time.
- 1:36:05[UNKNOWN]: If you're comparing to like main roster and all that stuff, it is leagues above.
- 1:36:09[UNKNOWN]: Like it is a very important NXT match.
- 1:36:12[UNKNOWN]: And I still really loved watching this
- 1:36:19[UNKNOWN]: I think my views have changed.
- 1:36:22[UNKNOWN]: I've gotten older.
- 1:36:23[UNKNOWN]: I've evolved in my my tastes of this art known as pro wrestling, but still loved it.
- 1:36:28[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, I went four and a half for it.
- 1:36:32[UNKNOWN]: Um, Meltzer had it at a 4.75 and cage match a 9.4.
- 1:36:39[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, that's that's kind of fair, right?
- 1:36:42[UNKNOWN]: Like,
- 1:36:44[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, maybe maybe people back then were like why didn't you go five on this and stuff But watching this back and like they still WWE if I did but they let them do poison Rana's and half Nelson Suplex is so Bless him I guess, but it is highly rated online still though this match.
- 1:36:59[UNKNOWN]: Yeah We so Agent Neville then goes to main roster.
- 1:37:04[UNKNOWN]: He then drops his first name.
- 1:37:06[UNKNOWN]: He's known as Neville
- 1:37:08[UNKNOWN]: And then they start trying to produce the cruiserweight division.
- 1:37:12[UNKNOWN]: You have to owe five live.
- 1:37:14[UNKNOWN]: He becomes cruiserweight champion, becomes king of the cruiser weights.
- 1:37:18[UNKNOWN]: And that's where he starts to really kind of,
- 1:37:23[UNKNOWN]: create this bastard character that he'll take out into the Indies when he eventually leaves in 2017.
- 1:37:30[UNKNOWN]: He leaves his contract early.
- 1:37:32[UNKNOWN]: He did not want to wrestle for WWE anymore.
- 1:37:35[UNKNOWN]: He was not happy and he goes back.
- 1:37:38[UNKNOWN]: He starts working some shows on the Indies.
- 1:37:41[UNKNOWN]: He works Rev Pro.
- 1:37:42[UNKNOWN]: He faces Osprey at Rev Pro.
- 1:37:45[UNKNOWN]: He goes back to Dragon Gate and made it a thing that he really wanted
- 1:37:53[UNKNOWN]: And that's where we get our next match, which is KZ versus Pack for the Open The Dream date Championship at Dragon Date Truth 8.
- 1:38:04[UNKNOWN]: Again, three gates 2019 on February 10th at Hakata Starlanes in Fukuoka, Japan.
- 1:38:13[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, um, this is a great for him to go back to Dragon Gate.
- 1:38:17[UNKNOWN]: That's pretty
- 1:38:20[UNKNOWN]: made a name for himself there and in his WWE hiatus and wrestling hiatus for him to go back there is pretty cool to see that he was still showing his love and going there now having such a way bigger name attached to himself his main roster run I mentioned he wore a cape they dropped his first name
- 1:38:40[UNKNOWN]: The Seth Rollins' raw match pretty good, that one comes to mind too as a big moment in memory for Yavul and his WWE career, but a lot of his main roster stuff I didn't quite love until he became the cruiserweight king and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:38:54[UNKNOWN]: That was really cool, but you could see maybe he was...
- 1:38:59[UNKNOWN]: not in the spot we thought he was going to be but like I still am happy that he kind of left and went free and even even just yesterday WWE putting out their tribute videos to to pack
- 1:39:13[UNKNOWN]: with the wrestlers like talking to the camera and giving their memories.
- 1:39:17[UNKNOWN]: William Regal recounts pack being like, yeah, I'm kind of pissed with them and I'm not happy here and I just want to leave and Regal says, well, if you're not happy, maybe you should leave and you go, all right, and then he did and Regal is like, yeah, go on, let, I was happy for you there.
- 1:39:32[UNKNOWN]: So it's like, oh, like, sometimes you do gotta best in yourself.
- 1:39:37[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I must have far our lead said that after leaving pack, like sat with the crew's way division and was like, I don't want to let you guys down, but I need to do this and all of them being like, no, we support you, you do your thing, go.
- 1:39:53[UNKNOWN]: And then since then, like the young buck saying, we asked pack should we go to WWE and was like,
- 1:40:00[UNKNOWN]: it's not for you that's like absolutely not.
- 1:40:04[UNKNOWN]: So yeah like having respect for himself and and sticking to his guns and and respecting his art and his career.
- 1:40:14[UNKNOWN]: But I would say like that cruiserweight run the the king of the cruiserweight was where he really developed.
- 1:40:23[UNKNOWN]: his character.
- 1:40:24[UNKNOWN]: The bastard.
- 1:40:25[UNKNOWN]: And yeah.
- 1:40:26[UNKNOWN]: And I think that's something maybe he took creative it on the endies on his own, but I think you've got to look at if he took anything away from WWE, it was that the guy knew how to wrestle, but he didn't have that character before.
- 1:40:40[UNKNOWN]: And I think that's when we saw him post WWE become way more around or around a performer.
- 1:40:48[UNKNOWN]: I definitely think that's where he got to showcase.
- 1:40:51[UNKNOWN]: He was given the opportunity, given the TV time for these little short promos and definitely crafted that.
- 1:40:57[UNKNOWN]: We keep comparing him to a troll, but we mean that in like the greatest and serious way because he was scary and the hair of the ring is right.
- 1:41:05[UNKNOWN]: He was filming, of course.
- 1:41:07[UNKNOWN]: He was filming Phen yet, living under a bridge.
- 1:41:09[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:41:10[UNKNOWN]: You know what he was doing.
- 1:41:12[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, but I did love running in the cruiserweight in the cruiserweight classic, but for him to then go back and do like all the indies and stuff it's cool that we had this match here and looking on list a lot of people brought this match up.
- 1:41:27[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm going to be honest here like this, this is in the list because it was on a lot of lists I was checking out.
- 1:41:34[UNKNOWN]: Unfortunately, the version I watched kind of look like it was filmed through a potato and the commentary was some of the worst commentary I've ever heard in my life.
- 1:41:44[UNKNOWN]: I actually thought when I started watching this that I had another video playing with sort of
- 1:41:50[UNKNOWN]: almost like director's commentary of another match going on, because it seemed so separate to what I was watching on the screen.
- 1:41:58[UNKNOWN]: There was no emotion in these commentators, voices, there was no hype, there was, there were talking through important moments.
- 1:42:07[UNKNOWN]: So I actually
- 1:42:14[UNKNOWN]: migrating or my opinion on this match, might be unfair and might not be the same thing that other people got to watch.
- 1:42:23[UNKNOWN]: I couldn't tell if this was something they recently recorded because this video was uploaded last week.
- 1:42:30[UNKNOWN]: And I'm assuming because of the passing of PAC.
- 1:42:33[UNKNOWN]: And I think they went in and re-recorded audio over the original match.
- 1:42:39[UNKNOWN]: And unfortunately, it does not help and lend it.
- 1:42:43[UNKNOWN]: I don't want to knock these people who put this together or the people of Dragon Gay or whatever.
- 1:42:50[UNKNOWN]: they could take some notes of what not to do when trying to do something like this, especially if it's a tribute thing.
- 1:42:58[UNKNOWN]: Just an example.
- 1:43:00[UNKNOWN]: We all know Pac does the red arrow and these flashy looking moves, right?
- 1:43:04[UNKNOWN]: The commentary will be like, oh yeah, he's about to hit a liagre bomb and then I think he goes up top and it's, oh yeah, look, here's this liagre bomb and it's like, well, look.
- 1:43:12[UNKNOWN]: Why don't you just let me watch the match.
- 1:43:15[UNKNOWN]: He's probably going to pin him here.
- 1:43:16[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, look at that.
- 1:43:17[UNKNOWN]: He's won't match.
- 1:43:18[UNKNOWN]: She like what?
- 1:43:19[UNKNOWN]: And then they're talking about like NXT at one point.
- 1:43:22[UNKNOWN]: I think one of the guys on it is a wrestler.
- 1:43:24[UNKNOWN]: They don't even intro him.
- 1:43:25[UNKNOWN]: It's unfortunately kind of.
- 1:43:28[UNKNOWN]: brutal commentary and I'm imagining they did real disservice like I'm imagining I was this was a to help right like this had to be done to like hey look we want to honor him but in and anything I think they could have just uploaded the original or in Japanese or nothing even with just the yeah there's the match but
- 1:43:47[UNKNOWN]: I was watching it and like, I'd have taken Alex Riley with Byron Sachs and calling this match over this.
- 1:43:53[UNKNOWN]: Cause that's pretty.
- 1:43:54[UNKNOWN]: It was tough.
- 1:43:55[UNKNOWN]: It was tough.
- 1:43:56[UNKNOWN]: We get a huge toe pace to a cedar from Kazy knocking pack into the crowd.
- 1:44:01[UNKNOWN]: He follows up with a running blockbuster off the apron and then hack comes back with a brainbuster off the top rope.
- 1:44:08[UNKNOWN]: This was one of the most nuts things in this match.
- 1:44:11[UNKNOWN]: Not a, not a turnbuckle brainbuster,
- 1:44:14[UNKNOWN]: just a superplex into the brainbuster.
- 1:44:18[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, nice to hear.
- 1:44:21[UNKNOWN]: On this landing, Pack is even grabbing his neck, because it was so devastating the force he brought him down with.
- 1:44:27[UNKNOWN]: Pack is dominating Kazy, throws him face first into the apron and is just bullying him, he's delivering these chops, these elbow strikes.
- 1:44:37[UNKNOWN]: Kazy starts to fight back with some of his own and they go back to the outside for a bit of a brawl.
- 1:44:42[UNKNOWN]: Kazy gets pack on his shoulders and drops him back first onto the apron from like the Fireman's
- 1:44:50[UNKNOWN]: and then we see a step-up on hellow to the outside from KZ and then a northern light with a pinning bridge for a two-count pack then goes up top and delivers a sky-twister press to the floor followed by a 450 splash and then his beautiful high-angle legabomb for a two pack goes up top for the red arrow but KZ rolls out the way and
- 1:45:17[UNKNOWN]: delivers a, sorry, packed delivers a stiff roundhouse kick.
- 1:45:21[UNKNOWN]: And his, I always loved his really short snappy spin back kick to the stomach.
- 1:45:27[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:45:27[UNKNOWN]: He deliver.
- 1:45:28[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:45:29[UNKNOWN]: Like he'd always follow like it would be like a front kick to the chest and then a spint it like his little pack combination look really good there's then a pop up pop up upper cut from kz pack bounces kz off the ropes into a German but kz comes right back with a diving out of upper cut they're trading forearms again
- 1:45:51[UNKNOWN]: pack hits the roundhouse to the temple, goes up for the red arrow, but that gets blocked a second time, black then knocks KZ off the ropes, goes for the red arrow a third time, and as he goes for it gets hit with a leaping upper cut.
- 1:46:07[UNKNOWN]: followed by a stop rope superplex and then KZ goes up top and as Pack is sitting up, he delivers a very fiery saying-esque elbow drop here.
- 1:46:19[UNKNOWN]: I thought, uh, look very nice.
- 1:46:21[UNKNOWN]: Like almost as he's sitting up and he like elbows like right like the the flat of you.
- 1:46:26[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:46:26[UNKNOWN]: It's punk kind of does it sometimes, but yeah, carry.
- 1:46:30[UNKNOWN]: We then have Casey signals that this is the end and he delivers a what would you call this a double under hook back flipping driver like a tiger destroyer right like a tiger driver, but you flip to hit it right like you're hitting the C4 spike jajriller, but you're jumping into a destroyer for it.
- 1:46:52[UNKNOWN]: It's pretty awesome.
- 1:46:53[UNKNOWN]: I would do this with my action figures as a kid for sure.
- 1:46:56[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:46:57[UNKNOWN]: Look nuts, KZ then goes up top, goes for a frog splash, but packets, the knees up, there's then a shooting star press knees to the back of the head from pack, which always looks deadly.
- 1:47:09[UNKNOWN]: A running barrier goes the red arrow, misses again, and then eats a rolling elbow to the chin.
- 1:47:16[UNKNOWN]: KZ goes up top, this time it hits the frog splash, one, two, pack kicks out, and then they're fighting on the second rope and pack.
- 1:47:26[UNKNOWN]: gets crazy into a tombstone, delivers a tombstone of the second rope, goes up top, hits the red arrow, and in 25 minutes, 17 seconds pack puts him away.
- 1:47:41[UNKNOWN]: Oh, that was a brutal avalanche tombstone.
- 1:47:44[UNKNOWN]: Like, they sell it as a super finisher here.
- 1:47:47[UNKNOWN]: Like, they say, like, he's getting checked on by everyone.
- 1:47:51[UNKNOWN]: Do they sell it?
- 1:47:52[UNKNOWN]: Do they sell it as a super finisher?
- 1:47:54[UNKNOWN]: Well, oh, you made a complaint.
- 1:47:55[UNKNOWN]: They're going to take it.
- 1:47:56[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, in my ring, yeah, not the commentary.
- 1:47:59[UNKNOWN]: They're like, wow, this guy might be hurt from this, like,
- 1:48:02[UNKNOWN]: huge tombstone, but honestly, a really fun match.
- 1:48:05[UNKNOWN]: I'm not super familiar with Kazy.
- 1:48:09[UNKNOWN]: As soon as this match started, I'm watching, and I'm like, this guy looks familiar.
- 1:48:14[UNKNOWN]: Is the Japanese dude with all this like Jamaican gear on?
- 1:48:19[UNKNOWN]: And I remember we watched this guy wrestle in twenty twenty six at mystery wrestling Vancouver Dynasty weekend we went to see mystery and it was a There was a match what was a dragon kid Casey and Yamato representing dragon gate taking on fresh air junior Benito McCray Martin and Sasquatch in quite a really fun matchup that we saw and I knew it because I was like oh look at this
- 1:48:47[UNKNOWN]: This dude from Dragon Gate with all the like, you know.
- 1:48:51[UNKNOWN]: smoking for 20 Jamaican stuff all over his gear, and then here he is wearing very similar gear wrestling pack.
- 1:48:58[UNKNOWN]: I thought this was a lot of fun.
- 1:48:59[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I would put it up in my my top of pack matches, but I don't have the connection maybe as some dragon gate fans would have, but it was still an awesome match.
- 1:49:11[UNKNOWN]: There were still some crazy spots in it, and KZ can clearly go, so I would love to see more of him down the line.
- 1:49:17[UNKNOWN]: But
- 1:49:18[UNKNOWN]: Really fun, I just don't think it got to the emotional connection, at least with some of the other guys that I have followed for quite a long time, not to say this was a bad match, because there was definitely some cool stuff in it, but maybe the one today that I least connected with.
- 1:49:35[UNKNOWN]: That commentary you know.
- 1:49:38[UNKNOWN]: commentary really dragged this down for me and I was struggling and especially seeing so much spectacular stuff.
- 1:49:46[UNKNOWN]: It was hard for me to get into this as much.
- 1:49:50[UNKNOWN]: I think having a prior knowledge always helps in wrestling, you know.
- 1:49:55[UNKNOWN]: knowing what someone's finished or it helps because then you bite on a near fall, right?
- 1:50:00[UNKNOWN]: Whereas when you, when you don't realize that KZ's finished or is a frog splash, you're not necessarily buying on a frog splash because we see people hit frog splash and matches all the time.
- 1:50:09[UNKNOWN]: That's sort of the thing.
- 1:50:11[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, there was still some nuts things in that, that avalanche brainbuster, the shooting star to the knees to the back of the head, the tombstone, that like destroyer we saw in that.
- 1:50:24[UNKNOWN]: Some crazy stuff in here, um, and yeah, but unfortunately I struggled getting into this.
- 1:50:33[UNKNOWN]: I went 3.75 which might be a bit harsh, but it just, it didn't connect with me like all the other
- 1:50:41[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'd go like four stars with this one.
- 1:50:43[UNKNOWN]: There was still some cool action.
- 1:50:45[UNKNOWN]: And if you were to take this belt-to-bell action and put in a company with maybe better production or whatever, it may have gotten a little bit more shine for me.
- 1:50:56[UNKNOWN]: But seeing it on everyone's list, I clearly people do connect with it.
- 1:50:59[UNKNOWN]: And it does mean a lot to some people.
- 1:51:03[UNKNOWN]: There was some cool action, and it don't get me wrong, but I didn't necessarily love it.
- 1:51:08[UNKNOWN]: And I imagine as well, like Pac didn't wrestle for like a year, didn't, because he had all the stuff going on with WWE.
- 1:51:17[UNKNOWN]: So this, I'm trying to find when this match was like during his like, how soon after his hiatus, but there must have been a bit of a, like,
- 1:51:29[UNKNOWN]: Okay, okay, who's working 2018, he came back.
- 1:51:32[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, he went pretty much a year from October 2017 to October of 2018, not wrestling.
- 1:51:40[UNKNOWN]: But this is it a year after that.
- 1:51:42[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, he probably built up a quite the rivalry leading up to this, but it's rated really high.
- 1:51:49[UNKNOWN]: Meltzer gave this 4.75 stars and Cage Match has it at a 9.14.
- 1:51:57[UNKNOWN]: Wow.
- 1:51:57[UNKNOWN]: So people love it.
- 1:51:59[UNKNOWN]: Shadow case, yeah.
- 1:52:00[UNKNOWN]: Shadow pack.
- 1:52:01[UNKNOWN]: I was worried that the drop-down of this venue was very low.
- 1:52:05[UNKNOWN]: Some of the shots, again, it was very shindy here.
- 1:52:08[UNKNOWN]: The one thing I did learn from this commentary that was pretty brutal was this was not anywhere near Tokyo.
- 1:52:14[UNKNOWN]: This was actually more of a place that doesn't often get a lot of wrestling.
- 1:52:18[UNKNOWN]: So it was almost like a treat for them to do the show and have pack come like the have the import be there rather than just always everyone go to a corporate in her.
- 1:52:27[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it was in Sukuoka.
- 1:52:29[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so that's not necessarily like one of the more hotbed.
- 1:52:33[UNKNOWN]: It still obviously has clearly like this one, but it's not necessarily a hotbed.
- 1:52:36[UNKNOWN]: So it was cool of him to go do that show elsewhere in Japan.
- 1:52:41[UNKNOWN]: So cool.
- 1:52:43[UNKNOWN]: We then have AEW, which forms in 2019 and Pak.
- 1:52:51[UNKNOWN]: Once he gets all his visa stuff sorted, he's a big part of original AEW once Dynamite starts and all that.
- 1:52:59[UNKNOWN]: And one of the first big rivalries
- 1:53:06[UNKNOWN]: And this led to an eventual 30-minute Iron Man match on the February 26th, 2020 edition of AW Dynamite in Kansas City, Missouri.
- 1:53:18[UNKNOWN]: This is just...
- 1:53:20[UNKNOWN]: three weeks before the pandemic.
- 1:53:22[UNKNOWN]: I know we in Toronto went into lockdown in on March 16th, 2020, and this is February 26th.
- 1:53:30[UNKNOWN]: So about two and a half weeks removed from the world shutting down get this match.
- 1:53:37[UNKNOWN]: And obviously we mentioned pack then gets stuck in the UK during the pandemic.
- 1:53:42[UNKNOWN]: So
- 1:53:44[UNKNOWN]: What could have been if that didn't happen there was it does feel like there's a lot of stop starts in this guy's wrestling career with like the WWE stuff not wanting to use and making him a superhero him trying to be more serious leaving the hiatus than doing in these than a w starts and then pandemic and visa just it does feel like there's been some things thrown at him to try to stop him.
- 1:54:05[UNKNOWN]: anyone because he's a he's a bastard it was real cool when a W started he he felt like he fit in he is a day one like the press conference showing up with the dragon gate title and the the full gear and now there's a paper view name full gear so like
- 1:54:21[UNKNOWN]: He's been, since day one, he fits in and you've heard stories of the young bucks talking about how he looked out for them in Japan originally and all the different friendships and connections of other people in AWS.
- 1:54:31[UNKNOWN]: So, it felt like just the right fit for him to come into this company and yeah, since like day one he's been
- 1:54:37[UNKNOWN]: he's been ten toes down for this for this company and waving that flag and I think as soon as you did see him people people especially like us were like hey what if he fought Kenny Omega and well AW were like here it is a few times and then now a free TV 30 minute iron man match between two of like the most insane in ring athletes we've ever seen so yeah
- 1:55:02[UNKNOWN]: And think like this is one of the first dream matches in AEW because they hadn't ever met anywhere else.
- 1:55:10[UNKNOWN]: I think we've had the Daniels and matches, the generic on matches, the Ricochet matches, the even offspray and Rev Pro, right?
- 1:55:18[UNKNOWN]: We've had a lot of these matches happen elsewhere.
- 1:55:21[UNKNOWN]: Kenny Omega and Pac and they end up having 16 matches if you include the trios and there are some spectacular death triangle or lead matches, you know, they're best of seven, which we're not talking about on this show.
- 1:55:36[UNKNOWN]: We are focusing on the on the singles matches, but they never touched outside of AEW.
- 1:55:42[UNKNOWN]: That's insane.
- 1:55:44[UNKNOWN]: I looked that up as well while watching this.
- 1:55:46[UNKNOWN]: I was like, Oh, well, we've watched an Erica and Anison like these two of must've and no, they never did until AEW.
- 1:55:53[UNKNOWN]: And yeah, the trio's matches, I actually have a real fond love and memory for, especially we were at the full year one.
- 1:56:00[UNKNOWN]: We're really back.
- 1:56:01[UNKNOWN]: with the song and everything, but I love that match.
- 1:56:07[UNKNOWN]: I have a real love of that match, but we did want to keep it to singles matches.
- 1:56:11[UNKNOWN]: And if you're talking singles matches in AEW, this is definitely one of the ones to talk about.
- 1:56:17[UNKNOWN]: I'd say first, like...
- 1:56:19[UNKNOWN]: first dynamite match that is just blow it like they had a lot of great dynamite matches but this is the first one where you go we just got a paper view match on a free TV.
- 1:56:31[UNKNOWN]: It's stuff like this in early season one of AW that if you were watching it like yeah I think this might be for me.
- 1:56:36[UNKNOWN]: I think I'm I'm more into this version of Pro Wrestling so yeah this is special.
- 1:56:41[UNKNOWN]: We start with the two trading dislikes and pack does his front kip up from the dislikes.
- 1:56:47[UNKNOWN]: Kenny goes for a one-wing danger early, but packs slips out to the outside, but gets met by the terminator dive.
- 1:56:54[UNKNOWN]: We get some chops from Omega, a DDT on the floor from Pack to Kenny, a superplex from Pack to Kenny, followed up by a missile dropkick and Kenny grabs Pack into the side headlock.
- 1:57:07[UNKNOWN]: Pat gets out and just boot's Kenny in the back of the head, drops his knee across the face and that's where we're getting a you're a bastard chance and I think that's accurate because I think this is where we really see Pat has put it all together and he's able to wrestle as this vicious bastard, you know, doing the knees to the face, the boots to the back of the head, just working a much nasty style that we've seen in a lot of these previous matches.
- 1:57:36[UNKNOWN]: We then get shops in the corner from pack and Kenny's telling him to come on, there's a forum exchange, a German superex and a V trigger from Kenny goes up for what we assume is the one-winged angel, but turns it into quite wrath, the electric chair, German superex for a two-count, Kenny then climbs onto the turnbuckle and attempts an avalanche, one-winged angel, but this
- 1:58:05[UNKNOWN]: and which just looks nuts, canny then drops pack face first into the turnbuckle, hits a German suplex of V-trigger, pop pack kicks out.
- 1:58:16[UNKNOWN]: And then at the 15 minutes, 56 second mark,
- 1:58:22[UNKNOWN]: Pat goes fuck this and some acts Kenny with a steel chair, sound proficing the first point.
- 1:58:30[UNKNOWN]: The first pull fall.
- 1:58:32[UNKNOWN]: So the young bucks come in there's a bit of a arrest period as they regroup, bucks are checking on Kenny, the bell rings to reset the match and pack immediately follows with the black arrow.
- 1:58:44[UNKNOWN]: putting Kenny away in 16 minutes, 39 seconds.
- 1:58:49[UNKNOWN]: We are one four a piece, but Kenny is suffering the injury from the chair attack and the black arrow.
- 1:58:57[UNKNOWN]: Pack kicks Kenny in the back of the head, sets up for another black arrow, but this time Kenny rolls to the outside.
- 1:59:04[UNKNOWN]: We get the beautiful spinning back kicks from pack.
- 1:59:07[UNKNOWN]: They're now fighting on the apron.
- 1:59:09[UNKNOWN]: and packed delivers a falcon arrow off the apron onto the floor and years removed from watching this match ice cream to this spot today.
- 1:59:22[UNKNOWN]: Just the thud, you're like Kenny, you're gonna regret landing on that certain area of your middle body.
- 1:59:29[UNKNOWN]: It will come into play a year's later.
- 1:59:31[UNKNOWN]: This is a crazy spot not to be out doing what he follows up with.
- 1:59:35[UNKNOWN]: Wow, he's got him.
- 1:59:36[UNKNOWN]: We then
- 1:59:38[UNKNOWN]: So pack then drop kicks Kenny off the apron and he knocks into the ref.
- 1:59:43[UNKNOWN]: So the ref, I think it's Paul Turner here.
- 1:59:45[UNKNOWN]: He's knocked down and the ref then, sorry, pack, then sets up a table, sets Kenny on the table, climbs to the top rope and delivers a black arrow off the top.
- 2:00:00[UNKNOWN]: through the table on the floor looked crazy.
- 2:00:04[UNKNOWN]: Just smashes this table like into pieces.
- 2:00:06[UNKNOWN]: It just looks beautiful.
- 2:00:07[UNKNOWN]: I think this was like a shooting star is so clean to the floor.
- 2:00:12[UNKNOWN]: It's so nice.
- 2:00:13[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this match is cooking this falcon arrow to the ground and then this table spot.
- 2:00:19[UNKNOWN]: I was jumping out of my seat.
- 2:00:20[UNKNOWN]: I haven't watched this in a while.
- 2:00:22[UNKNOWN]: I was like, oh, whoa, this is, I forgot this happens in that match.
- 2:00:26[UNKNOWN]: So the ref starts counting, Kenny just makes it to the ring on nine, but as he rolls in,
- 2:00:33[UNKNOWN]: There's another black arrow from pack, but this time Kenny gets the knees up, Kenny's able to fire back up, hits a V-trigger, hits another V-trigger, hits his uranagi, but that kicks out.
- 2:00:44[UNKNOWN]: Pack is then pulling himself up in the ropes, but gets hit with a V-trigger again, Omega sets up for the one-winged angel, but encounters this into a poison, runner.
- 2:00:57[UNKNOWN]: and then pack goes up top and hits the shooting star press to the back right into the brutalizer and Kenny is struggling for all his might.
- 2:01:07[UNKNOWN]: He manages to get out and crawls to the ropes, the pack goes off from again, locks in the brutalizer once more.
- 2:01:15[UNKNOWN]: We see 50 seconds left on the clock as pack is wrenching back.
- 2:01:19[UNKNOWN]: with the brutalizer locks in, Kenny's trying to break it.
- 2:01:23[UNKNOWN]: He rolls back, back for a pin attempt, but pack rolls is back into the brutalizer.
- 2:01:28[UNKNOWN]: 15 seconds left, Kenny still isn't tapping and the bell goes, it is a draw, pack is pissed.
- 2:01:38[UNKNOWN]: And delivers an elbow strike right to the referee as Justin Roberts gets on the microphone and says,
- 2:01:46[UNKNOWN]: The match is a draw.
- 2:01:47[UNKNOWN]: That means we go into overtime and it is sudden death rules and Kenny charges up pack with one V trigger.
- 2:01:57[UNKNOWN]: Another V trigger pack kicks out and then Kenny picks pack up delivers the one winged angel and in 30 minutes 58 seconds Kenny Omega beats pack in the Iron Man match.
- 2:02:16[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, early days of AWS Dynamite and they're putting on some bangers right here on TV for free.
- 2:02:25[UNKNOWN]: I think I underestimated this match.
- 2:02:28[UNKNOWN]: I remember watching it when it first happened and I was probably like over the moon of watching these two amazing athletes that I followed for quite a long time.
- 2:02:36[UNKNOWN]: So it really was kind of like a big dream edge.
- 2:02:38[UNKNOWN]: I know this is like one of the bigger final encounters of the singles thing.
- 2:02:42[UNKNOWN]: So that's why we picked this one.
- 2:02:44[UNKNOWN]: It's probably the most remembered.
- 2:02:46[UNKNOWN]: rightfully so there's some crazy stuff in here.
- 2:02:48[UNKNOWN]: I think my one critique what did I say earlier of most of the matches I just wish they fought for like two hours because I feel like they got so much in their brains of coming up with spots and they're both in just like
- 2:03:03[UNKNOWN]: peak physical form in this match.
- 2:03:06[UNKNOWN]: I I hate that it's 30 minutes.
- 2:03:08[UNKNOWN]: I wish it was an hour long iron match because I do think that these two when it comes to in-ring like I just up there at some of the best and I loved watching this back and I think really my critique is it was only 30 minutes and it has the the Iron Man stipulation in this and that but I
- 2:03:26[UNKNOWN]: Think I haven't watched this back and it's making it a bit more like newer and fresh since it is from what to that is this 2019
- 2:03:35[UNKNOWN]: 2020.
- 2:03:35[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, 2020.
- 2:03:36[UNKNOWN]: That's crazy.
- 2:03:37[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, six years removed and whatnot.
- 2:03:40[UNKNOWN]: And I don't I don't think I forgot about this match per se, but I was I forgot how awesome it was.
- 2:03:46[UNKNOWN]: And I'm like, well, it's Kenny Omega and pack.
- 2:03:48[UNKNOWN]: Of course it was so really loved going back and rewatching this and I'm glad it was on our list because it deserves to be.
- 2:03:54[UNKNOWN]: And it's one of my favorite ones I watched today.
- 2:03:57[UNKNOWN]: I think front to back.
- 2:03:58[UNKNOWN]: It's got this whole crescendo of a story and pack.
- 2:04:03[UNKNOWN]: playing the bastard is just great.
- 2:04:05[UNKNOWN]: He's like, ah, it's not going my way.
- 2:04:06[UNKNOWN]: What if I smash him and then it with a chair and get up?
- 2:04:09[UNKNOWN]: get him a point, but then like, you know, I love when wrestlers do the stuff I do in video games.
- 2:04:15[UNKNOWN]: You know, I always would do this in a video game.
- 2:04:18[UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
- 2:04:18[UNKNOWN]: I'll sacrifice a point, but now I'm going to keep going to beat him up because you're messed up.
- 2:04:22[UNKNOWN]: He's going to have damage.
- 2:04:23[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:04:23[UNKNOWN]: He's going to have damage to his head now.
- 2:04:25[UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I think this is almost as perfect as you could.
- 2:04:28[UNKNOWN]: Like this is a TV match you kidding me, I feel like
- 2:04:33[UNKNOWN]: Watching it.
- 2:04:34[UNKNOWN]: I don't know if I'd go the full five, but I think today I just I just might because I love it so much and it made me go oh man we're never going to be able to watch this match again and it got me pretty pretty emotional.
- 2:04:47[UNKNOWN]: So maybe that adds to this because all I could think of watching this was like I want to watch this again.
- 2:04:54[UNKNOWN]: I want to watch them fight again and now we can't.
- 2:04:57[UNKNOWN]: So this one is special because of that and I know we've seen them
- 2:05:02[UNKNOWN]: Holy shit, this was beautiful.
- 2:05:05[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this is their final singles match.
- 2:05:07[UNKNOWN]: They do end up having the triple threat when orange castes.
- 2:05:11[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and he's the champion, which is great as well.
- 2:05:14[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:05:15[UNKNOWN]: And obviously, it's not on the list, but the your own casting match, the revolution is such an important match in Pax career and and just AEW as a whole.
- 2:05:28[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm trying to think we
- 2:05:30[UNKNOWN]: I've obviously seen this when this happened.
- 2:05:33[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:05:33[UNKNOWN]: Maybe we had this in our best match of the year, Top 10, at the end of 2020.
- 2:05:38[UNKNOWN]: Thanks.
- 2:05:39[UNKNOWN]: 2020, who knows?
- 2:05:40[UNKNOWN]: There was probably some other crazy stuff and Kenny doing off, so it's a other stuff, but it's so good, hot, man.
- 2:05:46[UNKNOWN]: Such a...
- 2:05:48[UNKNOWN]: So I didn't remember this like beat the beat.
- 2:05:50[UNKNOWN]: So it was very fresh for me today, watching it.
- 2:05:54[UNKNOWN]: But this is the match when even today, when people say, what are the greatest aid of you dynamite matches in its seven year history?
- 2:06:03[UNKNOWN]: It might be the first way to bring up.
- 2:06:05[UNKNOWN]: People always bring up this one.
- 2:06:06[UNKNOWN]: And because I think it is the first, it is the first big match.
- 2:06:11[UNKNOWN]: Like, there was some spectacular tags and others spectacular singles matches, but this one is remembered and will always be remembered.
- 2:06:19[UNKNOWN]: And I just feel like I think pack like we never know what was gonna happen with the Death Rider story, but remember last year when we had Joe when the title of Second Time and it was a bit surprising,
- 2:06:35[UNKNOWN]: But it's joke, so like, yeah, it's kind of weird, but yeah, like he deserves it.
- 2:06:42[UNKNOWN]: I always felt Pat could have had that wrong.
- 2:06:44[UNKNOWN]: Like not necessarily, not necessarily going into all in as your champion or a long reign, but around the time where they did that little transition period with Pat with Joe for a little run.
- 2:06:56[UNKNOWN]: I think you could have done that with Pat.
- 2:06:58[UNKNOWN]: And I think he's, he built the respect
- 2:07:04[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, you deserve a title run and we'll never know, it seems like they did have something potentially poised with him and Mox and who knows where that would have taken him next.
- 2:07:15[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, as far as AEW matches go, I think this is one of the most important ones, I went 4.75, I think there's
- 2:07:27[UNKNOWN]: I always have an issue with calling a 30-minute match and Iron Man match because I think the whole point is it's Iron Man because you've going the 60 whereas it's just a point match in 30 minutes and AEW especially their matches always go 30 minutes so but so I made you out I would have like these two going the full 60 could have been something incredible.
- 2:07:49[UNKNOWN]: I remember on when it first happened I think me being just the
- 2:07:54[UNKNOWN]: probably a Kenny Omega snob.
- 2:07:55[UNKNOWN]: He probably had 10 other bangers that year that I was like, well, I just preferred these ones over this one.
- 2:08:01[UNKNOWN]: But this isn't a match I've gone back and rewatched at least in recent memory.
- 2:08:06[UNKNOWN]: And I know this is only six plus years old.
- 2:08:08[UNKNOWN]: But watching it today felt a lot fresher.
- 2:08:11[UNKNOWN]: And again, a bit more emotion to it now, knowing we want to ever see this again.
- 2:08:15[UNKNOWN]: And how much I do love and respect both these.
- 2:08:19[UNKNOWN]: characters and athletes here so I think that I think going it I know it's a 4.75 but with all this stuff and and everything it's it is creeping up to a 5 of just how awesome this is and yeah if someone's like oh what's this a w dynamite about this is easily something you go just
- 2:08:36[UNKNOWN]: just watch this watch this match this was on TV for free within their first year and it was great so I'm somewhere in the on the higher end here of the stuff we've watched so far this is hitting all the the feels and the crazy stuff and this was great
- 2:08:54[UNKNOWN]: And then that takes us what was that read it was it was there any written Oh sorry that was 4.75 from Meltzer 9.13 from cage match.
- 2:09:04[UNKNOWN]: So nine rule we're all kind of in line here Yeah, for this one.
- 2:09:09[UNKNOWN]: And we now go to our final match and I think it's very fitting that we end with this one because it's bit of a passing of the torch from two generations of
- 2:09:25[UNKNOWN]: probably the two greatest British wrestlers of all time, I don't think anyone would argue with that, especially like I know these two are really beloved wrestlers in our generation of watching and obviously with the passing of pack, people who've
- 2:09:41[UNKNOWN]: come out and been like, man, we've been loving this guy for years and now we realize that he's no longer with us and it's pretty sad, but yeah, I think you'd be all right in saying that.
- 2:09:52[UNKNOWN]: I know they had the match that was what Rev Pro high stakes or something like that where it was the first time where we got to see these two and they did a 30 minute time limit.
- 2:10:05[UNKNOWN]: new Japan will ask where he wasn't quite a w uh... affiliated but as soon as I spray signed you knew hey you do we do need to go back to that match one day and i feel like this was an easy ace up to sleeve of well break lasting case of emergency let's just put this match on a show and blow people's minds and that's exactly what happened uh... packs entire career up to this point was
- 2:10:28[UNKNOWN]: He, like we said, was off TV and visas and injuries and all sorts of different things, but once we saw this match announcement and graphic, everyone was super excited and pumped to see these two do it and think this would be the last time we got to see these two wrestle one on one.
- 2:10:45[UNKNOWN]: And this is for one of the title's pack was synonymous with like the what used to be the all Atlantic championship.
- 2:10:52[UNKNOWN]: Right.
- 2:10:53[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:10:53[UNKNOWN]: I believe pack was the inaugural champion.
- 2:10:55[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:10:56[UNKNOWN]: Right.
- 2:10:56[UNKNOWN]: And but came the international championship.
- 2:10:58[UNKNOWN]: He if you did over this with, you know, we kindling his rivalry with Orange Cassidy and now.
- 2:11:06[UNKNOWN]: off-frame is the champion we're at all out on September 7th, 2024 at the now arena in Hoffman, Estates, Illinois and also just looking at this match graphic here, AUW doing the thing we all love with the AUW Trio's champion path challenging, we're lost free for the international championship.
- 2:11:29[UNKNOWN]: I'd say he's synonymous with the trio's title too.
- 2:11:32[UNKNOWN]: Obviously in this tribute show they had the the new level and Swerve come out with the trio's and titles and stuff and like think we mentioned the death triangle was such a pivotal point.
- 2:11:41[UNKNOWN]: We could eventually one day do the do a whole pod looking at the various matchups of just the elite versus death triangle because trust me there are some awesome matches there but I digress.
- 2:11:54[UNKNOWN]: We start with what would normally be a very basic sequence with a backdrop with the other landing on their feet, but because it's pack and because it's Osprey, they both receive the backdrop and just do this, like corkscrew in the air before landing on their feet.
- 2:12:12[UNKNOWN]: Just like, whoa, what am I looking at here?
- 2:12:15[UNKNOWN]: Pack, then follows up with a sky twist of press to the floor, but not to be outdone.
- 2:12:20[UNKNOWN]: Osprey then sends packed to the outside and hits a sky twist of press himself, and then it cuts backstage where we see Ricochet is watching on, which obviously has something to do with the International title and the storyline going on.
- 2:12:35[UNKNOWN]: But just watching it now feels quite symbolic that it's Ricochet watching.
- 2:12:40[UNKNOWN]: Yes, true, yes, very.
- 2:12:43[UNKNOWN]: They're then both sat in the middle of the ring, slapping each other and packed those.
- 2:12:48[UNKNOWN]: Get on your feet, sunshine, so they're on their feet.
- 2:12:51[UNKNOWN]: They're continuing slapping and then they move to like stiffer blows, elbows, packed olives, a boot to the back of the neck of Osprey.
- 2:12:59[UNKNOWN]: And then just squeezing the neck of Osprey in the corner with his boot.
- 2:13:04[UNKNOWN]: And Aubrey is counting and this bastard just looks at Aubrey as she's counting and counts along with her.
- 2:13:12[UNKNOWN]: two, three, four, and then releases.
- 2:13:16[UNKNOWN]: He's knowing he's got to talk to five.
- 2:13:19[UNKNOWN]: We then get an avalanche brainbuster from Pack, which we saw in the KZ match look very nice.
- 2:13:27[UNKNOWN]: And this is where Osprey is now motioning to his shoulder that is all taped up and kind of losing a bit of feeling in his hands.
- 2:13:35[UNKNOWN]: Pack goes for the pin, but gets rolled over into a pin attempt from Osprey.
- 2:13:39[UNKNOWN]: They now fail to the outside when they're now brawling there.
- 2:13:42[UNKNOWN]: pack whips or spraying to the barricade, but we'll leaps up onto the barricade, turns around and delivers the pip chirrio, the flying elbow on the floor, rolls into the ring and follows up with a suscate special, immediately rolling pack back into the ring and hits his rebound caught through kick.
- 2:14:04[UNKNOWN]: And then Osprey sets pack up in the corner, goes for a cheating andos, but gets double booted in the face to block it.
- 2:14:13[UNKNOWN]: And pack then goes up top, goes for a top rope moon salt, gets caught by Osprey, but then pack turns this into a satellite DDT, awesome sequence here.
- 2:14:27[UNKNOWN]: And then follows
- 2:14:34[UNKNOWN]: pack, then it running the ropes gets hit with a Spanish fly pack blocks the Oscarter and goes for a tombstone, but that gets blocked.
- 2:14:42[UNKNOWN]: The hidden blade gets dark, pack then goes for a deadlift German, but that gets blocked.
- 2:14:47[UNKNOWN]: We get a pumpkin to the neck from pack, goes for his German again, but this time Osprey lands on his feet and delivers with the Oscarter.
- 2:14:56[UNKNOWN]: and then Osprey trying to get in the face of pack puts his hands behind his back and offers pack his neck and just says go on, do your worst.
- 2:15:05[UNKNOWN]: Pack his delivering elbow strikes to the neck but Osprey is shaking it out, shaking it off.
- 2:15:11[UNKNOWN]: And then he fakes out pack and delivers a hook kick.
- 2:15:15[UNKNOWN]: Pac then catches Osprey with the release German Suplex on the apron, and if that isn't bad enough, Pac follows up with a spiking poison rana on the apron.
- 2:15:28[UNKNOWN]: Oh, just deadly stuff.
- 2:15:31[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's insane.
- 2:15:33[UNKNOWN]: Like, do you mention that the poison Rhanna, the way that he does it is like almost like a pile driver, a spike, like nailing you to the map, right?
- 2:15:42[UNKNOWN]: And here it is on the apron.
- 2:15:44[UNKNOWN]: It's so deadly.
- 2:15:46[UNKNOWN]: It's awesome.
- 2:15:47[UNKNOWN]: He pulled the ring.
- 2:15:47[UNKNOWN]: He's got to have the best poison Rhanna.
- 2:15:49[UNKNOWN]: Like, he really does.
- 2:15:50[UNKNOWN]: It's, it's, it's, it wasn't the set up to this match.
- 2:15:53[UNKNOWN]: The one on the stage?
- 2:15:54[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it was.
- 2:15:54[UNKNOWN]: That's how we got to this match, right?
- 2:15:56[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so as long as poison Rhanna battle in this match.
- 2:16:00[UNKNOWN]: And I'm for it.
- 2:16:02[UNKNOWN]: We're back in the ring.
- 2:16:03[UNKNOWN]: We have the brutalizer applied from pack here.
- 2:16:07[UNKNOWN]: He's wearing down Osprey goes to the top and hits the black arrow, but it seems Osprey was playing possum as he gets the knees up and rolls back over for a pin attempt.
- 2:16:20[UNKNOWN]: Pat kicks out, we get a hidden blade which gets counted into a backslide, Osprey then kick flips off the chest of pack, delivers the Enza Gurie, charges that pack but gets sent into the ropes with the rebound German Suplex, Osprey floats over into the Liga bomber tent, but that gets counted into a snap Hurricane Rana, followed by another
- 2:16:48[UNKNOWN]: but Osprey kicks out.
- 2:16:51[UNKNOWN]: As soon as Will kicks out, Pack applies the brutalizer, again, Will gets out of this and delivers a poison runner of his own immediately follows up with the hidden blade to the face and just falls on top of Pack.
- 2:17:05[UNKNOWN]: He is spent falls into the pin one, two, but Pack kicks out.
- 2:17:12[UNKNOWN]: We're now fighting on the top and packed delivers and avalanche poison, Rhana, but Osprey lands on his feet and flies in with a hidden blade, but pack kicks out.
- 2:17:26[UNKNOWN]: We then get the super Oscata delivered, sets up for the Stormbreaker.
- 2:17:32[UNKNOWN]: The Stormbreaker gets counted into another snap, Rhana.
- 2:17:35[UNKNOWN]: This is like the Stormbreaker is how he double hooks you and then lifts you.
- 2:17:41[UNKNOWN]: And that's turned into like a dragon Rhanna from pack, from that like lift up from Osprey.
- 2:17:47[UNKNOWN]: It's like, even in this last gasp of hope, he's still hitting these crazy looking Rhanna's, oh man, this was such a great spot.
- 2:17:57[UNKNOWN]: Osprey kicks out from the Hurricane Rana and in the kick out rolls through rolling pack up into the Styles Clash, hits it and follows up with a hidden blade and he puts pack away one, two, three in 20 minutes and 36 seconds.
- 2:18:18[UNKNOWN]: oh man like what a what a perfect match to show that to to definitely end our our show here but like it's just a perfect match between these two it's showcases both of these guys in the skill sets that they have and yes there's similarities yes there's almost mirror images of each other in this the the the person who was maybe just a generation before the the young younger will
- 2:18:46[UNKNOWN]: it's exactly what you knew we were going to get into when you watched this match when you saw the graphic when you heard it was announced and I think this is something you could show people like oh you like professing or you don't like hey check this out if you haven't because it's so flashy but there's just something special about it I have not watched this back I don't think since maybe it happened or maybe matching it or stuff but it's only a few years ago and it's so awesome like it's just
- 2:19:14[UNKNOWN]: Just back in, there's no law, time in it.
- 2:19:16[UNKNOWN]: It's just bell to bell, crazy action.
- 2:19:20[UNKNOWN]: And...
- 2:19:21[UNKNOWN]: This at the time, I think, was everyone giving pack his flowers.
- 2:19:25[UNKNOWN]: Like, look, Osprey is the new talk of the town in the world of wrestling.
- 2:19:28[UNKNOWN]: And, here he is showing that, like, well, pack was the one who did it first, you know?
- 2:19:33[UNKNOWN]: And taught me how to do these things.
- 2:19:35[UNKNOWN]: So, it is so special and just like a, a evergreen match.
- 2:19:39[UNKNOWN]: You could watch this years and years and years later, and I'm sure it'll still be just as awesome and capsulated in this little time capsule here.
- 2:19:46[UNKNOWN]: So, this is great.
- 2:19:48[UNKNOWN]: What a match.
- 2:19:50[UNKNOWN]: I'm so glad you said that because I've got one note in my notes here and it's one word and it's perfect.
- 2:19:57[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:19:59[UNKNOWN]: How do you get better than this?
- 2:20:00[UNKNOWN]: Like it's stunning.
- 2:20:02[UNKNOWN]: Like it both you can you can tell like Osprey has
- 2:20:08[UNKNOWN]: model this career on pack and they both know each other so well.
- 2:20:12[UNKNOWN]: And as you say, it, it, it felt like this is a bit of a reminder to everyone, hey, remember pack is like the best in the world, like he's really good.
- 2:20:22[UNKNOWN]: And, and you're hearing all these tributes coming out of people about how humble he is and how many of them regularly would see them at, see him at a taping and go,
- 2:20:34[UNKNOWN]: You're the best in the world, you know?
- 2:20:35[UNKNOWN]: Ah, no, no, no, no, and I think this match just shows that.
- 2:20:39[UNKNOWN]: Like these two, as I said, like it, I think it's the perfect match to win this show on, just be like the almost symmetry of these two wrestlers and both being British and both following the same model and now, you know, where we are recording this Wednesday to 7th.
- 2:20:57[UNKNOWN]: of October 2026 and Osprey is your your world champion and is carrying the mantle and and able to enjoy like the what the fruits of packs labor you know like is able to do this because of everything this man did.
- 2:21:16[UNKNOWN]: I just thought sensational match.
- 2:21:18[UNKNOWN]: So again some of these counters and runners out are nowhere and everything I don't understand but at no point was this
- 2:21:26[UNKNOWN]: pretty, either.
- 2:21:28[UNKNOWN]: It wasn't about just flips.
- 2:21:30[UNKNOWN]: It was devastating moves, like devastating moves on the floor and just perfectly timed.
- 2:21:38[UNKNOWN]: Like I don't think you can get two people as crisp as snappy as snug and just as stunning to watch and jaw dropping to watch as you do.
- 2:21:50[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it really is like
- 2:21:52[UNKNOWN]: damn near perfect match if if it isn't because it is it's so great and uh... all the flowers to us break to give pack this moment again of us break for at this point was already like people like all he's the best he's the best and this and this and that and he wasn't world champion but he was like oh he's the guy who's
- 2:22:09[UNKNOWN]: the best going and to have the match where he's like, hey, just to remind everyone this is pack and it did that and I remember just everyone was buzzing coming off of this match and you just knew that it wouldn't have gone any other way with the chemistry just passion between the fighting spirit, Bouchito, all that stuff from these two.
- 2:22:28[UNKNOWN]: Five stars from me right here, easily five stars for me with this matchup.
- 2:22:35[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, easy peasy, five stars for me, it, uh,
- 2:22:41[UNKNOWN]: This was a good show, this all out.
- 2:22:43[UNKNOWN]: You also had the start land of Willow Street Fighter called a Superman fight.
- 2:22:50[UNKNOWN]: And you had Hangman versus Swerve in the lights else still cage match on this show.
- 2:22:56[UNKNOWN]: But yeah, this match was incredible.
- 2:22:58[UNKNOWN]: Five stars for me.
- 2:22:59[UNKNOWN]: Dave Meltzer breaking the scale with a 5.5 and cage match having it at 8.9.26.
- 2:23:08[UNKNOWN]: So that's pretty high on the list.
- 2:23:09[UNKNOWN]: I think maybe the highest rated, judging on what service or, you know, multi-observer or cage match, certain things have different matches rated as the number one, which is quite unique and cool to see as a wrestler clearly.
- 2:23:24[UNKNOWN]: lived multiple lives here, you know, there's pack pre WWE who was killing it.
- 2:23:28[UNKNOWN]: We talked about his 2000s indie matches, PWG, Dragon Gate, Ring of Honor, then he signs with WWE, then he's Adrian Neville, has his whole career there, eventually leaves, becomes the bastard again, pack.
- 2:23:41[UNKNOWN]: It's like there's different universes of this guy that lived in so many different wrestling companies and, and, and, and, and,
- 2:23:48[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, change the landscape for sure.
- 2:23:50[UNKNOWN]: Watching these matches back was not even homework.
- 2:23:53[UNKNOWN]: It was a treat to go and watch.
- 2:23:55[UNKNOWN]: Every match today was awesome.
- 2:23:57[UNKNOWN]: And I'd like certain ones over certain others.
- 2:24:00[UNKNOWN]: And I don't even know which one.
- 2:24:01[UNKNOWN]: I think I've rated two today with a five star.
- 2:24:04[UNKNOWN]: And I'd say it was,
- 2:24:06[UNKNOWN]: It's up between the Osprey one, which is just like, almost feels like a love letter to both of these guys, and that initial Elginarico one, which was just a showcase of, hey, look what's to come with pack and Adrian Evelyn, American, all that.
- 2:24:22[UNKNOWN]: So those are my two favorites that I watched today, and I don't know which one I liked more, but I might lean towards the Osprey one just because of
- 2:24:32[UNKNOWN]: recency bias and it does kind of feel like it's a bit of a passing of the torch and a little bit of a hey pack we love you and that's what we were doing here today so i think that's why i'm going to pick that match but still loved all the matches we talked about today and majority of his matches i don't think i could even recall this guy having a bad match and i'm looking at you window more i know he was your buddy but i don't think he ever really had a bad match so that's just yeah
- 2:25:00[UNKNOWN]: the crazy thing.
- 2:25:01[UNKNOWN]: So where about you?
- 2:25:02[UNKNOWN]: Where are you at?
- 2:25:04[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I agree.
- 2:25:05[UNKNOWN]: It was the bookends of this show.
- 2:25:07[UNKNOWN]: It was the Algerian era match and the matches were lost spray.
- 2:25:12[UNKNOWN]: But I think he's so much more of a complete wrestler by the well-off spray match.
- 2:25:18[UNKNOWN]: You know, he's got the bastard character.
- 2:25:20[UNKNOWN]: He sounds with T. He's got that fisher side to him.
- 2:25:25[UNKNOWN]: He's got the submission game
- 2:25:29[UNKNOWN]: hitting stunning sky twist of presses and black arrows.
- 2:25:33[UNKNOWN]: I just thought, like, I remember, we watched it around mine, I think that show.
- 2:25:40[UNKNOWN]: I remember all sitting down watching and being blown away by that Osprey Pac match, but I don't
- 2:25:47[UNKNOWN]: There's so many great matches every year that I can't even remember if this made our top 10 of that year.
- 2:25:53[UNKNOWN]: So I'm so glad we had the opportunity to go back and watch it because my God, it's an incredible match.
- 2:25:59[UNKNOWN]: And like you said, and like my note, it was perfect.
- 2:26:03[UNKNOWN]: So so that would be my best.
- 2:26:06[UNKNOWN]: pack match ever there you go everyone you agree disagree let us know your favorite matches and moments leave a comment on this video You can tweet us at poison run a pod Facebook whatever it is that you you use cuz Maybe there's one out there that we that we that we missed or maybe you do agree Like I love this match so much and and all that he had so many good ones and so many matches and memories We I never had the opportunity to meet him, but I know tons of my friends in the wrestling world of
- 2:26:35[UNKNOWN]: only have nice things to say about him and his love for Jamaican culture and ragetone and all that stuff as well.
- 2:26:42[UNKNOWN]: I do see some feedback that we had written in here on our Patreon.
- 2:26:47[UNKNOWN]: We put up a thread to ask any one for memories or matches and whatnot.
- 2:26:51[UNKNOWN]: I see Scott Ferry has written in.
- 2:26:52[UNKNOWN]: Thank you Scott, who says when I first got back into pro wrestling after more than a decade away from it,
- 2:26:57[UNKNOWN]: The attack was the man who made NXT the show I was most excited to watch every week.
- 2:27:02[UNKNOWN]: That Neville Sammy's Ayn Fude was my favorite storyline in wrestling that year, and even though I was all jacked up on Nova Canaan, I'd be pro-fin.
- 2:27:10[UNKNOWN]: After having my wisdom teeth pulled out on December 11, 2014, watching that match at our evolution really made me feel something.
- 2:27:18[UNKNOWN]: At I was 32 at the time, I knew everything was predetermined but Neville was such a believable heel that I needed to see him finally get beat by Sammy.
- 2:27:27[UNKNOWN]: No one on the main roster or in any other companies maybe feel anything like that at the time.
- 2:27:31[UNKNOWN]: Even from what I saw of this run as the bastard in AEW, the man could perform the most extraordinary and flawless act.
- 2:27:38[UNKNOWN]: acrobatic offensive you'll ever see, and still somehow carry himself like he was the biggest and most legitimately violent man in that ring, and he could make me believe it.
- 2:27:48[UNKNOWN]: He was just that damn great at what he did.
- 2:27:52[UNKNOWN]: Thank you Scott, appreciate that.
- 2:27:54[UNKNOWN]: He is, yeah, like he's, he's not the tallest guy and as we said outside of the ring, he's quite unassuming.
- 2:28:00[UNKNOWN]: He's definitely one of those people.
- 2:28:01[UNKNOWN]: You could imagine being in a pub in Newcastle and some dickhead tries to start a fight with and people like, you know, he's in his glasses, he's got his sit in a bucket hat on and just absolutely like, but I just think, guy, like you can absolutely see that.
- 2:28:18[UNKNOWN]: We have we have some all.
- 2:28:20[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, appreciate that.
- 2:28:21[UNKNOWN]: We do have some other feedback on our Facebook page.
- 2:28:24[UNKNOWN]: We have a group We have a page you can like poison around a podcast, but you can join the group as well Even if you don't answer the silly questions.
- 2:28:30[UNKNOWN]: We'll let you win.
- 2:28:31[UNKNOWN]: Do you have that open?
- 2:28:32[UNKNOWN]: Do you want to read any?
- 2:28:33[UNKNOWN]: We have three here actually
- 2:28:36[UNKNOWN]: you start off and yeah absolutely we go to Jake from the Wendy city the first time I had access to the network was in 2014 beginning my senior year in high school and this Georgie high flyer Jordy high flyer Adrian Neville was the person I instantly connected with
- 2:28:52[UNKNOWN]: Are you really the best rain as NXT Champion in 2014?
- 2:28:55[UNKNOWN]: A consistently great worker on the main roster despite not giving much of a storyline, but when came the cruiserweight division we finally see his intense side.
- 2:29:04[UNKNOWN]: I feel like the name British Bulldog was still available, he could have used it and inherited and made it work.
- 2:29:09[UNKNOWN]: because I could see similarities in each and other's personalities.
- 2:29:12[UNKNOWN]: And obviously, the feud with Sammy and NXT and the match at our evolution helped bring back me in love with pro wrestling.
- 2:29:19[UNKNOWN]: In a business, Chuck Full of incredible high flyers and matte technicians, he managed to stand out.
- 2:29:24[UNKNOWN]: Benjamin Paxaterly was truly one of one.
- 2:29:27[UNKNOWN]: Going back and watching his matches with Shingo and Ricochet and Dragon Gate is tremendous to watch, and this is why I still still fully can't process that he's no longer with us.
- 2:29:35[UNKNOWN]: After literally watching him 24 hours in Chicago with that match and Andrade, that match did not fail and Pack proved to be solid till the end.
- 2:29:43[UNKNOWN]: He'll be one of one and one of the most influential high flyers of this generation.
- 2:29:48[UNKNOWN]: Thank you Ben and fly high.
- 2:29:51[UNKNOWN]: Thank you Jake.
- 2:29:52[UNKNOWN]: Very well said.
- 2:29:54[UNKNOWN]: We also have Megan who says NXT was my introduction to Pack, his wars with Sami Zane stood out.
- 2:30:00[UNKNOWN]: A great memory I had was his match with Seth Rollins for the WWE title, which had an incredible false filler finish, and people really thought that he could pull it off.
- 2:30:10[UNKNOWN]: Yeah, wasn't that the black arrow when he hooked the legs and just right.
- 2:30:13[UNKNOWN]: goes back a little too far so it's a rope break, you know, yeah.
- 2:30:18[UNKNOWN]: He goes on to say I loved his work with death triangle too unforgettable to all except gravity.
- 2:30:25[UNKNOWN]: Ah, thank you, Megan, and finally, Barack, who writes in, I remember watching Pack for the first time in 2006 in Doncaster for 1PW.
- 2:30:35[UNKNOWN]: He won the opening 6-way elimination match.
- 2:30:38[UNKNOWN]: Against Darkside Dragon, I sue Eligaro, Spud, and Stevie Linn.
- 2:30:43[UNKNOWN]: He was super over with the crowd due to his fly-highing moves.
- 2:30:46[UNKNOWN]: Wow, crazy, 2006!
- 2:30:49[UNKNOWN]: bereq what and yeah i mean that's the year of that match we we talked about it was at 2007 so that's probably the most exciting thing to ever happen to don't cast a uh to be honest but uh that sounds great correct thank you all for writing in there appreciate some uh some personal memories and moments there regarding pack i'm sure uh
- 2:31:10[UNKNOWN]: There you will never forget those, especially anyone who got to see this guy wrestle live.
- 2:31:14[UNKNOWN]: I appreciate anyone out there listening, if you made it this far, we wanted to give flowers and honor then Saturday, pack, age or neville, whatever you want to call them.
- 2:31:23[UNKNOWN]: We have watched him for many, many years and we are very sad that he is no longer with us and we are sending all the love and the power to
- 2:31:31[UNKNOWN]: the Saturday family and I'll give a little reminder at shopaidw.com they are selling long live the bastard t-shirts the one that everyone was wearing on the tribute show and 100% of the proceeds go towards the Saturday family so go by yourself pack shirt and help support family from their lost then very sad to see him go but hopefully today we can
- 2:31:57[UNKNOWN]: have some happy tears looking back at this incredible career that this man has had and all the entertainment and hours of entertainment that he has given us with his professional wrestling and he was definitely one of one so rest in peace pack.
