Latest / Brandon Fogal Evolution / #188 - Cracker Barrel’s New Logo Backfires—What Were They Thinking??
Transcript
- 0:00The CEO of Cracker Barrel must be thinking, I fudged up, guys,
- 0:05because look at the old logo and let's just take a look at the new logo. There we go.
- 0:11There's been this this kind of actually strikes to my heart a little bit because
- 0:15I love Cracker Barrel. I do.
- 0:18And the more I've looked at it, the logo not necessarily is that bad. Seriously.
- 0:25Now, the whole renovation that they're doing inside of the restaurants,
- 0:28that does not look good at all.
- 0:30And, but they're changing the, just the, the feel, the home feel,
- 0:35the, just the down to earth feel that was Cracker Barrel.
- 0:38But it's like, could you get this publicity without doing something so stupid? This is stupid.
- 0:43But I mean, this, you can't buy this publicity. This is good stuff,
- 0:47you know, for Cracker Barrel.
- 0:48I mean, maybe not their, their stock is tanking and they're turning off a lot
- 0:53of loyal customers that love Cracker Barrel.
- 0:55And this is from a CBS news. the Cracker Barrel loses almost a hundred million
- 1:01in value as stock plunges after new logo release.
- 1:05That is just absolutely crazy.
- 1:08This reminds me again of the Bud Light effect that companies are not taking
- 1:14notice that you might just completely ostracize your base, your base of customers.
- 1:20I remember like back in the day when I actually used to drink beer,
- 1:23I liked Bud Light, but when that
- 1:26whole thing was going down there were so many other options
- 1:29I could choose from I'm like I don't really want to support that
- 1:32I don't really want to do that even even though the overall umbrella company
- 1:36owns pretty much everything but still I didn't really want to be caught holding
- 1:40a Bud Light it just did not feel right I didn't want it and I think this is
- 1:44the same effect that is going to happen with Cracker Barrel and this really
- 1:48this really drives at my heart because I love Cracker Barrel.
- 1:51This, I mean, Cracker Barrel is in my blood, in my veins.
- 1:54I think of, and I don't speak of this often, my grandpa and my grandma,
- 1:59they used to travel the country, you know, and their destinations was a lot
- 2:04of times stopping at Cracker Barrels.
- 2:05It wasn't to go to Cracker Barrel. They didn't go everywhere for that,
- 2:08but they planned a lot of their trips and they would go Cracker Barrel to Cracker
- 2:12Barrel, you know? And I, I.
- 2:15I don't speak a lot of that, but that shows how much like that.
- 2:18I love it. And it has that just that nostalgia that just that memory of them
- 2:24that they loved it so much. And I love it.
- 2:26Just them changing the inside of it. That is going to it's tearing out the guts
- 2:31of the restaurant. So I don't know why they're doing this.
- 2:34I think it was a major miscalculation to be maybe politically correct.
- 2:38Get the white guy off of the logo.
- 2:40Maybe they weren't even thinking about that. Maybe they really just wanted a
- 2:44new modern design. And honestly, the, the, the, the new logo to me,
- 2:48the more I see it, it doesn't look that bad.
- 2:51It actually, I mean, it's, it's pretty cool. It's pretty, it's decent.
- 2:54It's not terrible, but I mean, it's the new overreaction on both sides of the aisle.
- 3:00Everyone overreacts to everything, you know, so everyone's torching Cracker Barrel.
- 3:05I have mixed emotions about it. I, they, they run deep with me.
- 3:08I like them overall, but it's like, am I going to go to a Cracker Barrel today?
- 3:12If I had the choice, I'm probably not. I'm going to stay away,
- 3:14you know, teach them a lesson, you know, I'm not giving you my business right
- 3:19now, but they, overall, they have my heart.
- 3:22I think, but I think they, they need to have some crackdown on change.
- 3:25I, I don't want to, I almost don't want to say that, but change the CEO.
- 3:29I don't want to be calling for someone's job, but I think she made a over a
- 3:33major misstep on this, this whole thing.
- 3:36Maybe it came just from the marketing team or whatever, but I think they need,
- 3:40they need to shuffle things around and bring back.
- 3:42They need to do something, make amends, do something to win back their customer
- 3:47base because they're over.
- 3:49I mean, and you think of long-term, this is just, this has put a major dent into them.
- 3:54And I wanted to go through this article, but I don't think we're gonna have time.
