- 0:00Speaker 1: So when you're walking into, uh, into the building, when
- 0:02Speaker 1: you take that long way and you pass like the
- 0:04Speaker 1: flags and walk over the seal, it's just like, I'm
- 0:06Speaker 1: a part of something. Yeah. You really feel it. Do
- 0:09Speaker 1: you think that's the same CIA that we have today?
- 0:12Speaker 2: No, no. 9-11 changed everything and it changed it permanently
- 0:15Speaker 2: in a bunch of different ways. Not just, have you
- 0:18Speaker 2: ever heard of executive order 1-2-3-3-3? I haven't. 1-2-3-3-3 was
- 0:22Speaker 2: signed by Gerald Ford. Um, and it was, it came
- 0:26Speaker 2: in the aftermath of the church and Pike committees.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And, um, Yeah. The Responsibilities and Guidelines for the U.S.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Intelligence Community. Okay, Executive Order 1233 establishes the goals, responsibilities,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and guidelines for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Got it. Number one,
- 0:43Speaker 1: you can't kill people anymore, right? Well, this was after
- 0:47Speaker 1: the church commission, right? Exactly. They said, you got to
- 0:49Speaker 1: stop killing people.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And we had these like, you know, we're putting explosives
- 0:54Speaker 2: in Fidel Castro's cigar and putting poison on the steering
- 0:58Speaker 2: wheel of his car and stupid stuff.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And so one, two, three, three, three, Tom and Jerry shit. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:05Speaker 2: You can't do that stuff anymore. And then it's been
- 1:08Speaker 2: amended over the years. Well, after nine 11 Bush is
- 1:12Speaker 2: just like, just kill everybody you want. Wow. And so
- 1:14Speaker 2: we set up these offices and, one whole office called
- 1:19Speaker 2: the special activities division. And then there's in the counterterrorism
- 1:23Speaker 2: center where I was working, there was one called the,
- 1:25Speaker 2: the special activities group and their job very simply was
- 1:30Speaker 2: just to, you know, send teams around the world, kill people,
- 1:33Speaker 2: come back, get the list for the next week, go
- 1:36Speaker 2: out there, kill them, come back, get another list, kill
- 1:39Speaker 2: those guys. It was like a, nobody was trying to
- 1:44Speaker 2: collect intelligence anymore. Things changed overnight.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Overnight. Do you think there's a lot of like conspiracies
- 1:49Speaker 1: about nine 11, right? And I'm sure you've had, um,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I take a lot of shit about the conspiracies. Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 1: you do. I do. I take a lot of shit
- 1:56Speaker 1: because I don't believe in them. You don't know. So
- 1:59Speaker 1: from your experience, cause you were there when it happened,
- 2:01Speaker 1: you were in the CIA when it occurred to where
- 2:03Speaker 1: we are now. Has your point of view changed at
- 2:07Speaker 1: all since then? Yeah. My point of view actually has changed.
- 2:11Speaker 2: So I don't think I deserve a lot of the
- 2:14Speaker 2: criticism that I get.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm going to start on July the 6th of 2001. Okay.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And I'm not familiar with the criticism either.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Okay, I'm glad. I'll explain it to you then. Because
- 2:24Speaker 2: I get all the time, the Jews did it. The
- 2:27Speaker 2: Saudis did it. Literally, the space aliens did it. The
- 2:32Speaker 2: Israeli government did it. The Bush family did it. It's like,
- 2:36Speaker 2: come on, people. nano thermite paint. There's no such thing
- 2:40Speaker 2: as nano thermite paint that they painted in 1972 to
- 2:43Speaker 2: make the buildings blow up.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Come on, you guys. That to me sounds very, that
- 2:48Speaker 1: sounds ridiculous. Yeah, it's ridiculous. But what doesn't sound ridiculous
- 2:52Speaker 1: is somebody having long-term strategy, like you were saying a
- 2:54Speaker 1: little while ago, that people play a longer game, right? Yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 1: they do. And we're not good at that generally. Oh yeah,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I don't think that we are. We're like a country
- 3:00Speaker 1: we want everything now, you know, and we're kind of
- 3:02Speaker 1: a newer country as well. So it's like, and we
- 3:05Speaker 1: got everything fast anyway. And when you get something fast,
- 3:08Speaker 1: you don't really have a ton of respect for it
- 3:10Speaker 1: in some ways. That's right. That's right. And it's tough
- 3:12Speaker 1: for me to say that because we all just live
- 3:14Speaker 1: like one life term, but I think some of that
- 3:16Speaker 1: could be infectious over like a society over time. Um,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'd never even thought about it before that it's like, yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: when you get something easy, you kind of used to
- 3:23Speaker 1: something coming easy. That's it. And so, uh, but I
- 3:27Speaker 1: do believe that other countries, uh, could have strategy against us.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And also, and I believe that there were, and what
- 3:33Speaker 1: it changed for us as a people, like what it changed, like, um,
- 3:37Speaker 1: for how we look out of our own eyes for
- 3:39Speaker 1: how we walk out of like, uh, I remember on
- 3:42Speaker 1: nine 11, I walked out of a building. I was
- 3:44Speaker 1: staying with some friends. I walked outside and, um, there
- 3:48Speaker 1: was just some like construction going on and it'd been
- 3:50Speaker 1: going on for a while. And they were like redoing these, like, uh,
- 3:53Speaker 1: this stone walkway. I was in Charleston, South Carolina, and
- 3:56Speaker 1: they had these bulldozers and stuff out there. And like,
- 3:59Speaker 1: people had been excited about the construction. Like it was like,
- 4:02Speaker 1: cause the streets are cobblestone. It's really beautiful. And suddenly
- 4:05Speaker 1: that day, everybody was like, are these like, are they
- 4:08Speaker 1: demolishing something? Like suddenly this had a whole different energy
- 4:11Speaker 1: of like, Oh, like this is the rubble. Like there
- 4:14Speaker 1: was a connection with like what you just seen on
- 4:16Speaker 1: television to suddenly like something that was being done. That
- 4:19Speaker 1: was positive. Structurally was now suddenly looked at. Like there
- 4:23Speaker 1: was a lot of fear around it. And I know
- 4:24Speaker 1: that's a ridiculous small thing, but that, but that's normal.
- 4:27Speaker 1: That happened at the time. Right, and it's just how
- 4:30Speaker 1: much of a small thing in your head, like, okay,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I've just seen this, and now everything is scary. That's
- 4:35Speaker 1: what I'm trying to say. Everything is scary.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I think that's exactly right. The whole country was traumatized.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It was our Pearl Harbor, the Pearl Harbor of our generation.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And it changed how you would operate.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It changed just like every, it adjusted so many things.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Go on, though.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So July 6th, 2001, I'm hosting a group of, intelligence
- 4:58Speaker 2: officers from a Middle Eastern country. This is something we
- 5:00Speaker 2: did literally every single day, usually multiple times a day.
- 5:05Speaker 2: And what we do is we set up a day
- 5:06Speaker 2: of briefings. They get a photo op with the director,
- 5:09Speaker 2: you know, he's shaking hands. We exchange gifts and we
- 5:12Speaker 2: take them out to a fancy dinner at night. So
- 5:14Speaker 2: these guys, they were all mid-level, like majors and lieutenant colonels.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So it's a lot of bullshit. Yeah, a lot of it,
- 5:20Speaker 1: a lot, yes.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So I set up a day of briefings and I
- 5:24Speaker 2: went to see this kid, young guy, 20s, That was
- 5:28Speaker 2: covering Al Qaeda. And I said, can you come and
- 5:29Speaker 2: just talk to these guys about Al Qaeda for an hour?
- 5:31Speaker 1: He said, yes.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So it came time for his briefing. But instead of
- 5:35Speaker 2: him coming, the director of counterterrorism comes, Kofar Black, later
- 5:41Speaker 2: ambassador Kofar Black.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And he comes- From which country? Oh, from the US. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 1: He was our director. So he showed up.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Kofar shows up with the director of operations from the
- 5:52Speaker 2: Osama bin Laden unit. And I jumped up. I was like, oh, gentlemen.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I said, this is Kofor Black. He's the director of
- 6:01Speaker 2: counterterrorism for the entire American intelligence community.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And you were working in counterterrorism at the time. Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: got it.
- 6:08Speaker 2: And so he came in and sat down and he
- 6:11Speaker 2: was very, very serious. He said, something terrible is going
- 6:16Speaker 2: to happen. We don't know exactly when or exactly where,
- 6:20Speaker 2: but we know it's going to be an attack On
- 6:22Speaker 2: a scale that we've never seen before. He said, we're
- 6:25Speaker 2: picking up chatter from the Al Qaeda training camps where
- 6:29Speaker 2: camp commanders are on the phone with their students and
- 6:31Speaker 2: they're crying and telling them, I'll see you in paradise.
- 6:35Speaker 2: We're hearing code words for a massive attack. The honey
- 6:38Speaker 2: salesman is coming with vast quantities of honey where there's
- 6:42Speaker 2: going to be a huge wedding or a huge football game.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And he said, we know that they're planning an enormous attack.
- 6:49Speaker 2: We just don't know when or where. And he said,
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm begging you, if you have any sources inside Al Qaeda,
- 6:56Speaker 2: please help us. They just sat there and looked at him.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So at the end of the day, I was not
- 7:01Speaker 2: working on Al Qaeda at the time. I later, weeks later,
- 7:05Speaker 2: became the chief of counterintelligence in the Osama bin Laden unit.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And so.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I went to his office at the end of the
- 7:13Speaker 2: day before I took those guys to dinner. And I said, Kofor,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I got to tell you, you shocked me with that
- 7:18Speaker 2: briefing today. Was that just for them? Or were you serious?
- 7:22Speaker 2: He said, oh, I was deadly serious. Something terrible is
- 7:24Speaker 2: going to happen. And then on September 11th, there it was.
- 7:27Speaker 2: He and I were supposed to go to the White
- 7:29Speaker 2: House that morning. We had a meeting with Condoleezza Rice,
- 7:31Speaker 2: who was the national security advisor at the time, on
- 7:33Speaker 2: an issue that's so stupid now, I'm almost embarrassed to
- 7:36Speaker 2: tell you what it is. It was about a book
- 7:38Speaker 2: that was being printed by the government printing office, this
- 7:41Speaker 2: minor governmental agency called Greece, Turkey, Cyprus. And it was
- 7:48Speaker 2: called Foreign Affairs of the United States, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus,
- 7:51Speaker 2: 1949 to 1967.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Literally nobody's going to read this book. I was going
- 7:55Speaker 1: to tell you that. Nobody's going to read it. Literally nobody. Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And it's like a thousand pages long.
- 8:02Speaker 2: That's money laundering. And it had the names of three
- 8:05Speaker 2: CIA sources who were still alive. and we've got this
- 8:08Speaker 2: obscure law in the United States that if the government
- 8:11Speaker 2: outs a CIA source, we have to offer the source citizenship.
- 8:15Speaker 2: These guys are like 198 and 97 years old.
- 8:19Speaker 1: They're not going to, they don't care. Right.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Nobody's going to read the book anyway. So, um, we
- 8:25Speaker 2: were going to go down there and ask her, just
- 8:27Speaker 2: pull those pages out of the, out of the book.
- 8:29Speaker 2: You know, nobody's going to miss it. Nobody's going to
- 8:31Speaker 2: read it. Anyhow, just pull the pages out or redact
- 8:33Speaker 2: the names or whatever. But, I went up to tell
- 8:36Speaker 2: him that the car was ready and the secretary's got
- 8:39Speaker 2: a little TV on her desk and the World Trade
- 8:41Speaker 2: Center's on fire. I said, what happened to the World
- 8:42Speaker 2: Trade Center? She said, a plane flew into it. And
- 8:45Speaker 2: I go, because I'm a genius. I said, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 2: that happened once before in 1930. A bomber flew into
- 8:52Speaker 2: the Empire State Building. But it was like pouring rain
- 8:56Speaker 2: and fog. I said, it's so crystal clear today. How
- 8:58Speaker 2: can you not see that you're flying into the World
- 9:00Speaker 2: Trade Center? And just as I spoke the words, the
- 9:03Speaker 2: second plane hit. And then she turned and she said,
- 9:07Speaker 2: did you see that? Or did I imagine it? And
- 9:10Speaker 2: it's like, Oh, everything's going to go to shit now.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But take me back. So it's like, you guys hear
- 9:15Speaker 1: that something's going to happen. Something terrible is going to happen.
- 9:17Speaker 1: What do you do at that point? Well, see, that's
- 9:19Speaker 1: the key. What do you do?
- 9:20Speaker 2: We, we didn't know what to do. So we're going
- 9:22Speaker 2: to the, you know, Jordanians, the Egyptians, the Saudis, the,
- 9:26Speaker 2: this one, then that one. And they're like, we don't
- 9:28Speaker 2: know what's going on. Well, as it turned out, that
- 9:30Speaker 2: wasn't true. Um, almost all the hijackers, was it 17,
- 9:36Speaker 2: 16 or 17 of the hijackers came from.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia, right?
- 9:39Speaker 2: And we know that the Saudi ambassador to the United
- 9:42Speaker 2: States at the time, Prince Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud,
- 9:46Speaker 2: his wife transferred $ 50, 000 from her personal bank account.
- 9:51Speaker 1: To the hijackers. What are we supposed to make of that? Yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 1: sometimes you got to get your girl to Venmo if
- 9:56Speaker 1: you got it, you know what I'm saying? Seriously, you know,
- 9:58Speaker 1: the only time I ever saw it, George Tenet, it
- 10:00Speaker 1: was the CIA director at the time. The only time
- 10:02Speaker 1: I ever saw George completely lose his shit was in
- 10:06Speaker 1: a meeting with Prince Bandar. He said, if we don't
- 10:11Speaker 1: start getting help from the Saudi government on this case,
- 10:16Speaker 1: We're going to start killing people, a lot of people,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and some of them are going to be named Al Saud.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I go out to Pakistan as the chief of counterterrorism
- 10:27Speaker 1: operations there in January of 02. So it's still fresh.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We're bombing Tora Bora. All these Al Qaeda people are
- 10:34Speaker 1: trying to get out of Afghanistan, cross into Pakistan. And
- 10:37Speaker 1: my job was then to catch them when they came
- 10:39Speaker 1: into Pakistan. But we're bombing what? We're bombing which country?
- 10:42Speaker 1: We're bombing Afghanistan, right? But why were we looking for
- 10:46Speaker 1: al-Qaeda in Afghanistan? That's where they were living, all of them.
- 10:48Speaker 1: They launched 9-11 from Afghanistan. Got it. At least, theoretically,
- 10:54Speaker 1: the ideas came when they were in Afghanistan. Because for
- 10:57Speaker 1: the American population, it always felt like we never went
- 11:00Speaker 1: after Saudi Arabia. That's what it felt like. Yeah, and
- 11:02Speaker 1: we should have. But didn't you know that? We did not.
- 11:07Speaker 2: We suspected, but we didn't have, there was no smoking guns.
- 11:12Speaker 2: So that's what I'm getting to. We catch Abu Zubaydah,
- 11:14Speaker 2: Zayn al-Abideen Muhammad Hussein. Abu Zubaydah, who we believed at
- 11:19Speaker 2: the time.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Oh, shit, I thought you were having a stroke for
- 11:20Speaker 1: a second. No, no, that's his name. No, I'm just joking.
- 11:22Speaker 1: That was a joke. The profession, I know. The profession
- 11:25Speaker 1: of faith. I've been around people that are stroking out,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and if you don't tap in with them, they'll just
- 11:32Speaker 1: keep going. You know? And they never buy a vowel,
- 11:36Speaker 1: and then they just fucking tap out. Oh, that's terrible.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So you guys were doing this guy? So we're looking
- 11:41Speaker 1: for him. Oh, bro. And we catch him. This dude
- 11:44Speaker 1: is a fucking mumble rapper, I think. Go on. We
- 11:48Speaker 1: were on him for six weeks. We chased him.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Some days we'd bust down the door and there's like
- 11:52Speaker 2: a warm meal and a half lit cigarette still on
- 11:54Speaker 2: the table. We're like, dang it. With 15 minutes, we
- 11:57Speaker 2: could have gotten him. Some days we were a day
- 11:59Speaker 2: or two behind. So he knew we were after him.
- 12:02Speaker 2: He knew we were chasing him all over the frigging country.
- 12:05Speaker 2: And we catch him. In late March 2002 in Faisalabad, Pakistan.
- 12:12Speaker 2: So we also confiscated his diary. This led to a
- 12:18Speaker 2: huge fight between the FBI and the CIA.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Huge.
- 12:21Speaker 2: And the CIA was right and the FBI was wrong.
- 12:24Speaker 2: But the fight was– well, we captured his diary.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So I'm sitting there. Dude, that sounds so suspect that
- 12:33Speaker 1: he has a diary. It was more than a diary though.
- 12:37Speaker 1: But even though, you know what I'm saying? Like as
- 12:38Speaker 1: a regular person.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It didn't have terrorism stuff in it. Right, but even then,
- 12:43Speaker 1: first of all, who the fuck has a- See, but
- 12:45Speaker 1: look- He does have an iPad, though. A sketcher, yeah. Oh,
- 12:48Speaker 1: he drew a lot as well. It's all drawings. Oh, okay.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Yeah, all of its drawings. And most of them are
- 12:53Speaker 2: classified top secret. The CIA wouldn't allow them to be released.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Got it. Because they were mostly about the torture that
- 13:00Speaker 1: was done to him. Understood.
- 13:02Speaker 2: So anyway, we catch the diary and I call headquarters
- 13:05Speaker 2: and I said, listen, we got his diary and there's
- 13:08Speaker 2: some fascinating shit in here.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Like what?
- 13:11Speaker 2: And I said, well, for one, they're the cell phone
- 13:13Speaker 2: numbers of three Saudi princes. Like, what's up with that?
- 13:17Speaker 2: So they were like, put it in writing. So I
- 13:20Speaker 2: write this cable back and I was like, we found
- 13:22Speaker 2: these three princes here. They're cell phone numbers. George calls
- 13:25Speaker 2: in the Saudi ambassador. The president calls the king. What
- 13:28Speaker 2: kind of country are you running over there? So we said,
- 13:32Speaker 2: we want those three princes. We want them like right now.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Next thing you know, one goes into the hospital for
- 13:38Speaker 2: bariatric surgery because they're all fat.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 13:41Speaker 2: And he dies on the operating table. The other one
- 13:45Speaker 2: is driving from Riyadh to Jeddah on the Riyadh to
- 13:48Speaker 2: Jeddah highway. He's in a one-car accident and is killed
- 13:53Speaker 2: in the accident. The third one goes camping in the desert,
- 13:56Speaker 2: which is a very popular pastime, and dies of thirst. Yeah.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So we couldn't interrogate any of them. Who do you
- 14:06Speaker 1: think was it? Do you think that Saudi Arabia did that?
- 14:08Speaker 2: 100%. Right.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Do you think we ever got to the bottom of 9-11?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Do you think?
- 14:14Speaker 2: No.
- 14:15Speaker 1: You don't? No.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And I'm going to say something that's very unpopular. I
- 14:20Speaker 2: think that the Israelis, while not involved in 9-11, absolutely
- 14:24Speaker 2: positively had advance warning of 9-11. They had sources inside
- 14:28Speaker 2: of Al Qaeda and they purposely did not tell us
- 14:32Speaker 2: the details because they knew what was going to happen.
- 14:35Speaker 2: They knew that we would attack Afghanistan and we would
- 14:39Speaker 2: attack Iraq and we would kill 2 million Muslims. And
- 14:43Speaker 2: I mean, these dancing Israelis, they've never answered for this.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I'm still mad about the dancing Israelis.
- 14:49Speaker 1: I've heard about the dancing Israelis, bring it up. So
- 14:52Speaker 1: you're saying that you believe that they knew. I think
- 14:55Speaker 1: they knew in advance and didn't warn us. But they
- 14:57Speaker 1: didn't warn us because we would then, we would. We
- 14:59Speaker 1: would do their dirty work for them. We would take
- 15:01Speaker 1: out issues with their surrounding guys.
- 15:04Speaker 2: You know, there are videos making the rounds now of
- 15:06Speaker 2: Benjamin Netanyahu over the years, over the last 20 plus years,
- 15:10Speaker 2: testifying before Congress and saying, You know, if we just
- 15:14Speaker 2: took out Saddam Hussein, we would be peace in the
- 15:17Speaker 2: Middle East. If we just took out Muammar Gaddafi, there
- 15:21Speaker 2: would be, I guarantee you, he says, there would be
- 15:23Speaker 2: peace in the Middle East.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And we do it all. We take out Iran and
- 15:26Speaker 1: we're going to have peace in the Middle East. It's
- 15:28Speaker 1: starting to get a little bit more like. I think so.
- 15:30Speaker 1: A little sus. Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 2: So the Iraqis have electrical towers like we have everywhere,
- 15:36Speaker 2: but ours have four legs and the Iraqis have three legs.
- 15:40Speaker 2: So just a few days before we attacked Iraq, at
- 15:43Speaker 2: that time, I'm the executive assistant to the deputy director
- 15:47Speaker 2: for operations at the CIA.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So it's a serious, the most serious job I ever
- 15:51Speaker 1: had in my life. So you have access to a lot.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Literally everything. Wow.
- 15:55Speaker 2: And the Israelis come to us and they said, listen,
- 15:56Speaker 2: you guys are going to attack Iraq in a couple
- 15:58Speaker 2: of days.
- 15:58Speaker 1: We want in.
- 15:59Speaker 2: We said, absolutely not. We put this coalition together with
- 16:03Speaker 2: all these Arab countries. As soon as you guys jump in,
- 16:06Speaker 2: all the Arabs are going to drop out. Just let
- 16:08Speaker 2: us do it. Next thing you know, every one of
- 16:12Speaker 2: these electrical towers just begins to topple over like 150
- 16:16Speaker 2: miles worth in the Western desert because somebody put explosives
- 16:20Speaker 2: on just one of the three legs. And I remember
- 16:23Speaker 2: my boss saying, these damn Israelis, they just can't leave
- 16:27Speaker 2: well enough alone. They just don't ever do as they're told.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Um, let me look at this, the dancing Israelis, and
- 16:35Speaker 1: we're talking about the Israeli government. We're not talking about
- 16:37Speaker 1: Israeli people.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I'm, I'm far less worried about the dancing Israelis than,
- 16:42Speaker 2: than I am about the Israelis who were arrested on
- 16:44Speaker 2: nine 11.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Okay. It was, there was a, but just so I,
- 16:47Speaker 1: just so I can say the claim, because I don't know,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I've never even spoken about this. The dancing Israelis is
- 16:50Speaker 1: a nine 11 related conspiracy trope based on the arrest
- 16:53Speaker 1: of five Israeli men in New Jersey on September 11th, 2001.
- 16:58Speaker 1: and this is according to Perplexity, and it was some guys,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I think they were on a building top, and they
- 17:03Speaker 1: were kind of dancing like around a bread truck or
- 17:07Speaker 1: something as you can see the towers in the distance. Yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 1: a New Jersey woman reported five men near a van
- 17:14Speaker 1: overlooking Manhattan who appeared to be celebrating and taking photos
- 17:17Speaker 1: as the Twin Towers burned. Police later stopped a suspicious
- 17:20Speaker 1: van and detained five Israeli citizens. They had items like
- 17:24Speaker 1: box cutters and multiple passports which conspiracy theorists later fixated on,
- 17:29Speaker 1: but box cutters are normal tools for a moving delivery job.
- 17:33Speaker 1: They were happy.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Because they knew exactly what was going to happen, that
- 17:36Speaker 2: we would have to enter the war. We would attack Afghanistan.
- 17:39Speaker 2: We would probably then, you know, take a permanent position
- 17:45Speaker 2: in the region, which is exactly what happened.
- 17:47Speaker 1: That's why they were dancing. They were happy.
- 17:48Speaker 2: 9-11 was a good thing for Israel. It got us
- 17:52Speaker 2: militarily engaged over the long term. But you don't think
- 17:55Speaker 2: that they were involved in the setting up of it?
- 17:57Speaker 1: I don't. No, no, no.
- 17:58Speaker 2: There's, and there's never been any evidence to suggest that
- 18:01Speaker 2: they were involved in any way.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I have no idea.
