- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: Been a little while since our last show.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: I do apologize to all the Mike Blitzers out there listening.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: I know you all have been hankering for that hot content.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: It feels good to be back in the booth with you, good sir.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it feels great.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: It feels natural.
- 0:58SPEAKER_04: It feels it feels right.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: So a lot of you are probably saying to yourself, like, what are they talking about?
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: So let's go ahead and do a little quick catch-up in our little kind of what's with you segment.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: Um, I guess I'll start.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: So uh right after we hit record on the last show, which was December 2nd, which was no December 1st, excuse me, Thursday night.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: It was two weeks ago from like literally right now.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: We finished recording my wife Anna's water broke like an hour later.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Sure enough, seven hours later, my son Anders Brooks was born at 9 29 a.m.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And woo, thank you.
- 1:32SPEAKER_04: Another Mike Blitzer was brought into the world.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Another Mike Blitzer was brought into the world.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Um, very, very exciting.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: Um, so obviously, our life has been just an absolute whirlwind.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're in the hot we were at VCU, everything went great there.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, he had a belly ruben issue, which was not sweet.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: We had to go back to the hospital for two more nights, which was not ideal for anybody.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it just sucked.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was fine.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Everyone's fine, everything is fine, but it totally, totally sucked.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Um, did not kick ass.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: But now we're home, baby's doing well, baby's gaining weight, eating, sleeping, pooping like a champ, doing all the things you would want a 13-year-old baby to do.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: So um 13-year-old baby.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: 13-day old baby is what I meant to say.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: 13 As you can tell.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: I have not slept very much um in the last 13 days, which is another reason this has been uh a little bit challenging, but you know, and I know we're getting ourselves into we know we're challenging, we know what we're we're doing, but that's why uh we did not record last week.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: You can blame it squarely on this guy.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: I'll take the heat for that.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Um, so that's new with me.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, what's new with you the last two weeks, brother?
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're just gonna call this like the dad pod complaint hour because I don't have a new newborn, but our seven-month-old has been sleeping like a newborn.
- 2:44SPEAKER_04: Um, it's been about it's been two weeks plus, but this last like week or so, I mean, it's literally three, four hours of sleep for us every night.
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: And um, things have been uh not so chill around here.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: That's not very not not ideal.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: That happens, man.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: These kids come in like waves.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: Like every time you like finally get used to something and adjust, I like throw like a new curveball at you.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: I'm telling you, so my middle kid, Axel, my son, he is so I've I've I've got three.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: My my oldest daughter, Lena, my middle one, Axel.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: He has been acting up like crazy.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Like he is like big time adjusting, you know, he's got big feelings about being a big brother now because he was the baby for the last five years.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: He had it, he had it, he had, you know, he had the golden parachute for a long time, but that gravy training is over.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Now he's gotta do work and chip in.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Um, and he's not happy about it.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: So my five-year-old is like acting out all the time.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: So I didn't see that coming, but you know, here we are.
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's it's gonna take some time.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_04: Everybody maybe that's our maybe that's our next uh when college football season's over, we just do like 30-minute like dad updates, and everyone can commiserate with uh dude.
- 3:50SPEAKER_04: Let's get let's get callins.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: Let's get um let's get some questions.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: Let's get some uh let's get some.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Hey, this is Jason from New York.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Um my toddler also sucks.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: I I think you have I think we're on to something.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Uh Blitzers, let us know.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, very cool.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Uh so that's that's I'm sorry about you not sleeping.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: Obviously, sleep helps, but you know, what are you gonna do?
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: Sleep with your dad.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Um talk about uh what's your what are you drinking tonight?
- 4:13SPEAKER_04: I'm back on the Hardywood gingerbread stout.
- 4:16SPEAKER_04: I've been drinking a ton of this stuff this season, and I've always, I mean, it's always been good.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: Some years is better than others, some years are better than others, but um this year I have especially enjoyed even more than the other variations of it because I used to love like the Christmas morning and the Kentucky Christmas morning.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, the the great gingerbread stout, the classic, it's it's like 12 bucks for the four-pack of pints.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: It's it's awesome, it's a great beer.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Uh, it is it is good stuff.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: We are we are definitely in gingerbread stout season.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Um, and honestly, you and you know, while we were doing baby stuff, actually, Mike and his wife actually brought us family a bunch of yummy treats and a four-pack of yummy beers.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: I got some gingerbread stouts downstairs from a crack into this weekend when I'm watching World Cup Final Meaningless Bowl Games and all other things.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: So uh that stuff is the shelf is legit.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Don't dare call them meaningless.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: There are fans out there.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: I you're right.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: I'm totally kidding.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: I would say lower tier bowl game is what I meant to say.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: I am drinking uh um basic city uh IPA, it's got a six on it.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, sixth lord is what we're drinking.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Sixth Lord.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I got this in Crozet, Virginia.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: These guys are in Waynesboro.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: This is a really good Virginia IPA, which I really like.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Um, it's earthier than I thought.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: It's it's you know, when in the in the realm of like the New England IPAs, which is like all I drink, and I totally bring this on myself.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: This is more of like an old school like Dales or like Sierra Nevada almost.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: But I'm into it because it's fresh and it's from Virginia, um, and it's good.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: And it's only 5.3, which means I'm only I'm gonna drink this after after I drink this or two or three.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna be hammered, which is ideal because I'm not sleeping right now because I'm 12 days old.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: So I like it.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Everybody wins.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: Everybody wins and it's earthy, so the earth wins.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: I think I said earthy like several times.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: I just really feel like this beer is earthy.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: So I want to make it clear on that more my earth tones today.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, very cool.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: All right, let's talk about some headlining news um in college football that's broken the last two weeks.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: The first one, um, God, this feels like this.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: This is a I can't remember the last time we had so many, so much just tragic news in college football.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, Mike Leach, the uh coach of Mississippi State uh Bulldogs, uh passed away two days ago, three days ago, I believe.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Uh he had a heart attack slash stroke, um, died in the hospital.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Uh he was 61.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, Mike and I's thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his grandkids, his kids, uh, the whole Bulldog nation.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Um, just terrible, terrible loss for college football.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: He was such a great personality, such a great coach, Texas Tech, Washington State, now at Mississippi State.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Um, if you're ever bored, just watch some of his interviews.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Like he is just like he was just such a joyful character.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: They call him the pirate.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Um, it's just terrible.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: It's terrible.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was really sudden and and um just one of those things that kind of takes everybody off guard.
- 7:04SPEAKER_04: Um he was such a colorful personality, and a lot of people don't realize how successful he was as a coach.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: Um you know, he he's probably like a game shy of finishing um below the threshold for um College Football Hall of Fame.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: And his coaching tree is what was really, really impressive.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: Um, assistants under under him or Dave Aranda, Art Bryles, Sonny Dykes, uh Dana Holgerson, Lincoln Riley, um players under him, Cliff Kingsbury, Josh Heippel.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: I mean, he's touched a lot of different high-profile folks in college football today.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: It's a well-decorated list of coaches for sure.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: One thing I always appreciate about him was um his ability to kind of bring where bring who he was, wherever he was.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: There's all this talk about even when he left Texas Tech, like how was he gonna do in Pacific Northwest?
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Were they gonna tolerate all of his ex um extra centric ex eccentric behavioral traits and his commentary and his kind of whole just kind of shtick almost?
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: And the same thing was said about him in Mississippi State, like how they react in the deep south.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: But wherever he went, he won, he brought his outside the back, outside the box offense, that open wide, you know, pass the ball to run, which you know chip typically doesn't work in the in the deep south, and his personality.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: He was called the pirate for a reason.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Um, and it didn't matter where he was or what he was doing, he was always authentic as a coach and um as a personality.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: And there's just he was just such a joy to root for.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: I'm never gonna I'm not gonna claim that I was ever a Texas Tech, a Washington State, or Mississippi State fan, but college football was just better when he was there.
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he was always must must see must see TV.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: And it's rare that you find a public figure that is always kind of straight shooting and themselves.
- 8:58SPEAKER_04: You know, everybody talks about Coach Speak, and totally um, that's you know something anyone can appreciate.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: He was he was who he was, you know, he's Popeye the Sailor Man, Popeye the Sailor Man.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Um uh anyway, we are super sad about that.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: And you know, all of our thoughts and prayers go out to the Bulldogs and obviously um the leach family.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Uh next piece of business news.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Uh so obviously there's been a lot of college football hiring, but there was a big one.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: The big splash, obviously, was uh Dion Primetime, Deion Sanders Coach Prime making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: He is now the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Um, he's already seen some big time recruits come in, and he is changed, you know, Colorado has been a terrible program for a long, long time.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like a decade.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Like a decade, and he's and he's he's he's breathed some life into it.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I've got a lot of takes, but go ahead and open us up.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 9:55SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, there's a couple, a couple things that so I uh there's nobody who's who's really lukewarm on this situation.
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: Um, for those of you who don't know, he came in and day one, I mean, literally like five minutes after meeting all the players, basically told them, I'm bringing guys with me.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: You better hit the portal, get out of town, do what you need to do.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: I'm coming with changes, I'm bringing my own guys.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: You know, he's already got um kids transferring from Liberty, he's bringing his son, his son's starting quarterback, four and five stars um in the portal hitting him up.
- 10:34SPEAKER_04: Um he basically is going in scorched earth.
- 10:39SPEAKER_04: He's gonna rebuild the program from the ground up and telling the kids that are already there to take a hike.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: And that's rubbing people the wrong way and a lot of different outlets.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: What he's doing is he's embracing a new modern reality of college football, which is there's definitely a mercenary aspect of this, you know, with the transfer portal being what it is, with NILs being what it is, like we just saw Lincoln Riley, who, to be fair, is a much bigger, better, higher pedigree coach at this point than Coach Brian.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Coach Bryan might get there, not there yet, and went to USC, which is obviously a much bigger problem than Colorado, but it's the same same story.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Uh Rick and Rick Lincoln Riley got that job.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: He brought Caleb Williams, Jordan Addison, a slew of other guys with him, and he became that, and they were they were they were a whiff away from a conference title and a playoff birth in the first first season.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying that's gonna happen for Colorado, but I mean, I think bull eligibility in year one is definitely on the table for Colorado.
- 11:35SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 11:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think I think so as well.
- 11:38SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's gonna be hard not to have those kinds of expectations as bad as they've been, just with the the the talent that he's gonna be able to attract.
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: I mean, this is so everyone's gonna have these knee-jerk reactions.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: This is a very rare scenario.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: You've got um an extremely well-known, again, public figure who um has generally liked, generally.
- 12:03SPEAKER_04: He doesn't have a ton of coaching experience, who just has has a ton of charisma, he's a personality, he's got a lot of name recognition, he knows a lot of people, you know, he's a famous person, period.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: And um, he's kind of leveraging that to get the coaching staff that he wants, to get the players that he wants, and the new NIL.
- 12:26SPEAKER_04: And it this is kind of a a new way to do things, and people people don't like that.
- 12:31SPEAKER_04: And and people are also a little thrown off by the fact that, you know, he went to Jackson State.
- 12:37SPEAKER_04: Um, his whole thing was embracing the change and promoting um historically black colleges, and um you know, a lot of people see that as him kind of turning his back on them, using them for the next step.
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: I don't what are your thoughts on that?
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I I I think he's I think he's just I think again, he's just embracing the system for where it is now.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Obviously, like I mean, I think Jackson State has a lot to thank him for.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, he nobody knew who Jackson State was, especially in the at least in the college football bigger mainstream picture before he got there.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: So obviously him going there and doing that for Jackson State is great, but obviously I think everybody knew going in when they hired him, that was not his plan.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: He wants, you know, what is as given anybody, he's I mean, he's coach prime.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: This is he's been prime time since the 90s at Florida State.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Like he was always he's always going to search men's drive for greatness.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: So like I I mean, I don't, I don't think he used to get to Jackson State.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: I think he I think he tried to elevate them and bring them along with him.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: And I think those guys that are talented and good enough, he's gonna bring them with the Colorado and he's gonna elevate them and get them to power five conferences, and they're gonna get them competing for for.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: So I mean, I I I just think what he's doing is it's more direct, it's less traditional, and it's it's it's it is leaning into the current reality of college football in ways that we have not seen before.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: We might see it more and more often, you know.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: We might see NFL coaches try and make big who might get big splash hires in, I don't know, recovering Auburn, even though Auburn has a new coach, and maybe switch on there pretty quickly because now we now we know it's possible.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Lincoln Riley just laid the blueprint down, you know, go to blue chip, go to a blue chip program with some talent and missing holes, get a couple big NIL deals, fish, and build a team.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: And you know, the the the days of having a three, four-year rebuild, at least for some of these blue chip programs, um, are over.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: And you know, now it's year and a half, two-year rebuild, and you know, get it going quickly because this is what you this is what other teams can do now.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I don't know.
- 14:41SPEAKER_04: I think the the challenge, I mean, moving on from talking about Coach Prime, which you know, I understand why there's controversy, it's a new thing that he's doing.
- 14:51SPEAKER_04: He's an entertainer first, and a coach probably second, but the entertainer piece is what allows him to do what he's doing.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: And if he surrounds himself with the right coaches, he'll be able to be extremely successful in that as well.
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: I mean, I gave you a lot of crap about uh coach O at LSU, but as a pure motivator and somebody who can get the right people around him um and let them do their jobs.
- 15:18SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're talking that's what we're talking about here.
- 15:21SPEAKER_04: I mean, you assemble the right pieces, you don't have to be a great coach, but you do have to be able to, you know, handle the spotlight as a head coach when things go wrong, know how to make changes, all those things.
- 15:32SPEAKER_04: And so a lot of that is yet to be seen if he can do.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: But step one, he can do, which is pull talent, get attention, bring eyes, eyes and money, which is huge.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: And you know, we'll see how the rest plays out.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: Did you see what the AD said when they hired him?
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: The AD was talking, there so some journalist was like was talking about the the I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head, but it was a he got he got a pretty got a pretty good decent deal from uh from Colorado, a bigger deal than Colorado is typically used to paying for their football coaches.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: And well, the report essentially was like, Where's it where's that money coming from?
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: The 80s, like, oh, we'll get it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: We'll get it for sure.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: And they're all expecting exactly they're expecting they're expecting big name boulder uh alumni living in the Denver area or whatever, they're gonna get excited about this program, probably pour some money.
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: And we've seen so I'm expecting that to happen as well.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: One thing he does have going for him, and then I swear we'll move on from this, is he knows how to speak to young people, and obviously he motivates them.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: Because there's I've it is given the early signing day, half half- I mean, uh signing classes are gonna be over in like a week.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: And the fact that he's able to turn this many people's attention to Colorado one in 12 or 1 in 11.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: In like eight days before they all these kids sign wherever they're gonna go, like kudos to him.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Um, it's gonna be if nothing else, I actually think he's gonna be a good hire there.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: If nothing else, though, it will at least be entertaining for sure.
- 16:52SPEAKER_04: Well, how can he not be a good hire there?
- 16:54SPEAKER_04: They're like a two-win program.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: Like, if he plugs in a bunch of four stars a couple years in a row and only wins six games, four games, six games, and then gets fired, the roster has already turned over better.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: I mean, he's left it better than when he got there.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: But yeah, but he's like, I don't think he's going there to win four systems.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: I think he's I think he's going there because I think he's gonna be a good thing.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying he will.
- 17:18SPEAKER_04: I'm just saying if even if he does, even if he flames out, even if everything goes wrong.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think you and I both agree that he has a pretty high floor, is what we're I think.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: I think he's immediately going to install a level of quality that Colorado hasn't had in a long time.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I think we're I think we're on the same page there.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Let's be let's keep rolling.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Uh other thing that happened while we were gone, uh the Rose Bowl finally uh uh kind of uh whatever they want to call it, succeeded on their end of the of the negotiations, and we are going to get the 12-team playoff the year after next.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: We only have two team, four-team playoffs left.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: This 2022 season, which starts in a couple weeks, and then next year, and then it's a 12-team playoff.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: So it's happening, it's happening real soon.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: I, for one, am psyched.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: I have such mixed feelings.
- 18:02SPEAKER_04: I have such mixed feelings.
- 18:03SPEAKER_04: It's really hard because uh I just think that regular season means so much to this sport in particular.
- 18:12SPEAKER_04: College football is what it is because every game matters so much.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: What do you think that Michigan-Ohio State game would have felt like if they both already knew they're comfortably in the playoff, they don't even have to worry about the conference championship.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: They're both, I mean, it just takes away so much of the pageantry, so much of the importance, so much of what makes the sport great.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, honestly, it would be it would be it would it would be like one of those games between like the Niners and the Seahawks when like they're both really good, like they're both going to the like one of those end-of-season games where they're both really good and maybe fighting for a bye week or something like that, but they both knew, even though they hated each other and they're active, they both knew they were going to playoffs.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: They were definitely leaving stuff from the tank.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: I think there's something to be said for that.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: My what I want to say right away to you was that's a terrible example, they hate each other, but you're right.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: If they're the both if they're the two seed and the three-seed and they're playing in Ann Arbor and they both know they're in the playoffs, barring the sky absolutely falling, then it might change that.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: I'm hope I'm hopeful that if it does, it's not much or not at all.
- 19:22SPEAKER_04: Um, in that regard, especially late in the season like that.
- 19:25SPEAKER_04: That game means nothing.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 19:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, it does, it doesn't mean anything.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're saving starters because you've got conference championships, which could mean a buy, and then you've got so that's a rub.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: That's a real rub.
- 20:18SPEAKER_01: My the the but it comes with some pros.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Um and what I think there are some pros.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: There are some pros.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: One is um it's seven more football games, seven more awesome, interesting, exciting, high-stakes football games, four of which will be on campuses.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: I love I love the fact that five, six, seven, and eight are going to host a football game on their campus.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: I can't go ahead.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: I I I love that so much, and I love it so much.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: I would love it so much even more if they took some of these bowl games and moved them on campus.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: Correct.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: I would some of these other bowl games that nobody goes to, put them on campus.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: You're gonna get better attendance, you're gonna get more intrigue, you're gonna get a better atmosphere.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: I I would like to see, I mean, so they're only doing the the first round of the playoffs, the five, you know, the five versus twelves.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'd like to see them do the first two rounds on and then have moved the semis, you know, do the whole final four away.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: That's what they should do because man, the five seed is gonna be what they're gonna be like a Clemson hosting a Oregon, you know, for like five versus like a five versus twelve.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: It's gonna the matchups on campus at that part of the country, that part of the country, that part of the time of the year when it's cold, like that's gonna be so good.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: It's going to be just such high quality television.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: So for that upside, I'm really excited, obviously.
- 21:40SPEAKER_04: And we've seen, I mean, we've highlighted it all year.
- 21:43SPEAKER_04: It's just been even more prevalent this year, how much home field advantage means in these, especially the big games, uh, you know, those top 10, top 25 matchups.
- 21:53SPEAKER_04: I mean, the home field team won.
- 21:55SPEAKER_04: I don't remember the stat.
- 21:57SPEAKER_04: We talked about it a couple weeks ago, but it was like literally like 90% of the time.
- 22:01SPEAKER_04: I think there was one home field loss, or or maybe two the whole year out of these big time matchups.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: And so that carries so much weight when you get into these late season playoff games.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: I do love more football.
- 22:13SPEAKER_04: I do love the fact that we get less politicking and and less um bias.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:22SPEAKER_04: You get uh you get a little bit more of a real um product playing itself out.
- 22:28SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 22:30SPEAKER_04: I hope that it I hope that it turns out like we think it will.
- 22:35SPEAKER_04: And I think with what we've seen this year, there's more parody.
- 22:38SPEAKER_04: What I don't want is You have the 12 team playoff, and the first several the first couple rounds are all blowouts.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean you run the risk of that.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: Although I think I think I mean I think we've kind of learned that in college football, and this has been true the last couple of years, is there's a pretty big drop-off after one through three or one through four through six through twenty.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, like the sixth team and the nineteenth team is a much smaller gap than the fifth team and the one team, you know?
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: So like I don't think it's gonna be that bad.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: I think there's gonna be a lot of AAC and group of five schools that are gonna win a game or two.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: And I think there's gonna be a lot of who come up and bite a second or third tier LSU or Tennessee or Penn State or somebody who's expecting to beat up on a two-lane or a UCF and they get a really motivated bunch who came to play.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Like that, I think we're gonna see that a bunch.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: So I'm super intrigued by what that's gonna be.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Um, but we'll talk more about that um in the weeks, years to come because we got more ahead of us.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: But all that you can do is adapt and enjoy our sport as it as it changes.
- 23:44SPEAKER_04: We're gonna love it no matter what, we're gonna tune in no matter what.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 23:47SPEAKER_04: But RIP regular season.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Alas, okay.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: One more thought.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Other thing I'm really, really happy about it, and I've and I've I feel pretty strongly about this.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Bowl season is dying so fast.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: You know, and I I was we were teasing earlier this episode about the lack of interest in bulls, and you know, the the the Rose Bowl, the Rose Bowl seven years ago meant so much more than it does now.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: Um, I think the playoff has done that because now everyone's doing that so at least at the end.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: But the media did that.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the playoff did it, and then the media did it, and the fans.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: Like I'm so much less interested in, I'm so much less interested in even the pat even the New Year's Eve six bowls that aren't playoff games.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: I shouldn't be.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna watch them all, I'm gonna enjoy them all.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: But there was a time, like in the BCS era where it was a two-game season, when I still cared tremendously about the Fiesta bowl, you know, even though it wasn't the two playoffs that it wasn't the BCS championship game.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: Like there was there was a time when you could still have that.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: Now it feels like it's either playoffs, you have it or you don't.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: So, and I think we're going to get more and more that way.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: So, since we're doing that, and now we got 12 teams, good.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: More people.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: I mean, if we're gonna do that, uh, because that's what the powers that that at you know dictated that was we that's what they force fed us, you know.
- 25:03SPEAKER_04: I mean, we had no control over this.
- 25:06SPEAKER_04: Um, and if that's the way it's gonna be, then yeah, sure, expand it and have more meaningful games at the end of the season.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: That's you know, that's the world we're living in.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Sure enough.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: All right, well anyway, that's happening, so very exciting.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, super quick, Heisman uh uh winner was announced.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Uh Caleb Williams took it down, uh beat out a pool, CJ Stroud, uh Stetson Bedden.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: Who is the fourth guy there?
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: Duggan Smax Duggan.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Um I think Hayden Hooker finished fifth.
- 25:33SPEAKER_04: Um excuse me.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: Um I I think they got it right.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: I thought I thought Caleb Williams was electric this year.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: I thought he was the best player.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: Uh I thought Hendon got snuffed.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: He should have been invited to New York, I'll say that.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't think Stetson Bennett should have been there for being out, which is why I also think I got a fourth number of votes.
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: Um, but in general, I could nitpick here and there.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: I think the right guy won it.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: That was really my only takeaway.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm fine with him winning it.
- 25:56SPEAKER_04: I think it could have gone to him.
- 25:58SPEAKER_04: I think it's an absolute travesty that that Hendon Hooker didn't get invited.
- 26:03SPEAKER_04: Stetson Bennett had no business being in New York.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: No, Hendon Hooker was SEC offensive player of the year.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: He was third team, All America.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: Um, all the all these accolades that Stetson Bennett wasn't even in for.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Stetson Bennett wasn't even on the SEC.
- 26:21SPEAKER_04: Forget the accolades, just watch football.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: Like, look what Hedon Hooker with Henry Hooker was doing.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: Like he was just he was an electric, must-watch TV player that get that brought so much action and success to Tennessee.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Uh Stetson Bennett is a is a is a good kid and a good quarterback, but I mean, look what he has around.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: He's a good story.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm not taking anything away from him, but it was just that it was just a now.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: I'm trying not to gaslight you here and try and pump up Tennessee fans listening.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: I legitimately think you're right.
- 26:49SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know why.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: Is if he didn't get hurt in the South Carolina game, I have no question in my mind that he, I mean, and he plays you know, plays the Vanderbilt game, wins that one, that he would have got invited.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: I think his injury is what cost him.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: I don't think it should have.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: I think it should have been there anyway.
- 27:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean, a lot of people will will listen to that and think, well, it doesn't matter, like he wasn't gonna win it.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: And so, like, what's the what's the point of getting worked up about it?
- 27:11SPEAKER_04: But it matters, it matters to the kids, and as a fan, you want to see your guys be rewarded and you want to see them recognized, yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_04: And so, you know, we get pissed off when we get when our guys get disrespected.
- 27:25SPEAKER_04: And um it this was not a Tennessee fan thing.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Um, tons of national media, you know, picked Hindenhooker as like a huge snub, a lot of dumping on Stetson Bennett, which you hate to see.
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, he didn't ask for that, but I just mean it was just stupid.
- 27:43SPEAKER_04: And the the the moral of the story is this happens every freaking year, and the the voters, there just needs to be a new process because these guys don't watch football, it's a quarterback competition between the best like four schools, no regard, you know, regardless of stats, regardless of anything.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: It's I don't know why Bijan Robinson didn't get an in-class.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: I don't know why Bryce Young, Bryce Young deserved to be there over Stets and Bennett too.
- 28:08SPEAKER_04: Bryce Young carried Bama this year.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, if he's not their quarterback, they they lose probably one or two more games.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're probably eight and four, seven and five team.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: I think no, I really know Bryce Young definitely put them on their back this year.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: So lots of complaints about I think Mike and I agree on three through seven on terms of who finit, you know, maybe on who finished there.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: But um, I think I would I mean Caleb Williams, I think was the right, I think was the right choice for winning.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: I think he was the best player this year.
- 28:34SPEAKER_04: Given I mean I'm fine with that.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: I have no complaints.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, when you get to the top couple guys, it's it's a it's rolling the dice.
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: It's just you've got these people voting on it that don't watch college football, they don't care about it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: They don't you've got like news anchors in like Alaska voting on it.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: Like they don't even care, they don't care.
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: They they don't even it's a relic of an old system that made sense once upon a time to give to give these AP writers so much.
- 29:01SPEAKER_01: But you're right, there's a lot of people who just don't who do not pay into college football who are given votes, but alas.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: Uh congratulations to K Williams USC.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I think their seventh uh Heisman trophy tying Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: If you don't count Reggie Bush, if you don't count if you count Bush, I think they have eight, but anyway, very, very, very impressive.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Uh so typically we talk about conference championship week at this point, but honestly, it was like a week and a half ago, and most of you guys have already done it.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: Um, a couple of quick overlining headlining things.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Obviously, uh cost USC its playoff berth.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Um, they lost uh 47 to 24 to Utah, Utah.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Uh man, just right as a thorn.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Uh thorn in USC C really tough.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: Hate to see it.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Hate to see it.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Uh, my LSU Tigers uh got the got the brakes beaten off them by Georgia.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Never really stood a chance.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not even really that upset about it.
- 29:50SPEAKER_01: We're year one.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, my takeaway, I've said this a billion times, broken record at this point.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: We won the West in year one with 38 guys in the roster 12 months ago.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: And we obviously way overachieved this year, and Georgia is the best team in the country, I think.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: So it was cool to be there.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: It was good, good experience.
- 30:08SPEAKER_01: Um, move uh Michigan rolls Purdue uh 43-22.
- 30:12SPEAKER_01: I think it was the game was closer to half, but then it got there got ugly.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Um Clemson, uh, North Carolina.
- 30:18SPEAKER_01: If North Carolina ever learned how to play defense this year, they would have won that game.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: They just chose not to this year.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: But also Kate Klubnick looked awesome.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Also K Klubnick, which we're gonna come back to.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: And DJ U Angolele is in the transfer portal.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which we're gonna talk about.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: I gotta get I gotta I gotta pat you on the back for that in a minute.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Um the the best game was obviously that was honestly, it was the best conference this year.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: The Big 12.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: Uh Big 12, 38, uh 28-31.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: Uh Kansas State knocks off TCU.
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Ended up not hurting TCU because USC lost, uh they ended up they end up finishing right where they were, right in that three spot.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: They weren't penalized for being there, which I probably think is probably the right decision.
- 30:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I love I love that.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: I'm really glad to see them not get tossed out over losing in the conference championship after such a great year.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: And I really give a lot of credit to Sonny Dykes for kind of taking control over that situation a little bit because once it went into overtime, he was like, We're gonna we're gonna win or lose it on this two-point conversion.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: And they didn't get it.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, no, they played it.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: So they kind of just decided like we're gonna lose on our terms, and I think that kind of helped in a way.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: It was no, I think so too.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: I they they they didn't play scared, uh, which you know in a game like that, and Kansas State is good.
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: Kansas State, we we I mean, Mike and I've been bullish on them for a long time, and uh they won the Big 12.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Goose kudos to Kansas State.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Um, so nothing to hang here, nothing to be sad, nothing to be sad about losing to a tough game in the Big 12 championship to them.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: But and it also didn't matter for them.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: TCU is going to the playoff anyway.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: So anything else you want to add about conference championship?
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: God, it feels like ancient ancient history.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: No, um, Max Duggan played like a warrior in that game, too.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: I think that's really stamped the the envelope to his invite to New York.
- 32:02SPEAKER_04: Um he he he TCU, I mean he he really carried them this year.
- 32:07SPEAKER_04: Um, but anybody who you know the timing of that game and and the way he played, I think really cemented his uh invite uh for the Heisman.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, the one thing I will say, you know what's um you know what makes great television while you're in the hospital recovering from your one-day old baby?
- 32:23SPEAKER_01: College football conference championships.
- 32:25SPEAKER_01: I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the hospital on Saturday watching and Friday night watching every single game.
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: That was couldn't have timed it any better.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, couldn't time any better for that regard.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: So thank you, Anders, my son, and new and nearby born Anders for that.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: Um, and the best part was my my other kids were here with uh my in-laws.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: So literally it was just me and Anna hanging out in the hospital, just watching TV for 12 hours.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Like it was kind of nice.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna tell not gonna lie to you.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: So I actually got to watch all of these games because I had nothing else to do.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: So it was nice.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: Uh very cool.
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: All right, now we're gonna talk about um so if you remember, if you're listening spot, Mike and I made a lot of predictions uh at the beginning of the year, and we have dug them all up.
- 33:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is gonna be fun.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about uh Mike and I's uh bold predictions going this season.
- 33:13SPEAKER_01: We're gonna grade them, obviously, how they were, how they weren't.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Kind of um Mike and I are each gonna have a chance to justify ourselves for our horrendous picks, or of course take a victory lap, depending on whatever it is.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: And then we're gonna talk about our um uh conference and division champions and picks and where we were that.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: Uh I'll start with uh my first uh bold prediction.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: USC goes 11-1 in year one and goes to the playoff.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: I'm mad about this because I came so close.
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: If it were if they were the four seed going for the last week, I mean this was a loss.
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: I was I was wrong, but they win that Utah game and they're in.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: They win a Utah game, they're in.
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: I don't, I mean, you don't need to count this as being wrong.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: Um I still maintain that this was not bold.
- 34:05SPEAKER_04: I said in preseason, this is not a bold prediction.
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: USC was finished.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: I mean, they were picked by Vegas to finish like fourth or fifth in the country.
- 34:12SPEAKER_04: So I mean, you really nailed right on the head.
- 34:16SPEAKER_01: I think well, Vegas did.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, Vegas said 10 and 2, I said 11 and one.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: They were 10 and 2.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: Or they finished, yeah, they finished 10 and 2 and didn't make playoffs.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: So they were that was about right.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Um, Mike's pick, number one.
- 34:29SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna beat you up over it.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: I appreciate that.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: I appreciate that.
- 34:32SPEAKER_01: Uh Mike's bold prediction.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Another new entry to the college football playoff.
- 34:37SPEAKER_01: Well done.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Kakudos.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, tell me about your TCU pick.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: Well, I didn't pick TCU specifically, but this one was kind of an easy one.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: I mean, it it it it was only bold because we'd had so many return, you know, repeat visitors into the playoff.
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: It had been Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, you know, all the same same Clemson, all the same teams every year.
- 34:59SPEAKER_04: Um, and we knew this year was gonna have more parody.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: So really it was like, you know, four, you know, four, five, six versus the field.
- 35:08SPEAKER_04: And we had a lot of teams that were really intriguing, USC being one of them, which we said in that pod had a really good chance.
- 35:15SPEAKER_04: You know, we threw Texas in there, um, AM.
- 35:19SPEAKER_04: I didn't think TCU had a chance.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Uh, we didn't we didn't talk about TCU, we talked about Baylor a little bit, but yeah, I just thought there were too many good teams with with path to the playoff.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: I thought there might be an uh another ACC team in there, frankly.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I mean this was it was not that bold.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: Either way, it was right.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: It was a good call, so credit to you.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: Uh well done.
- 35:41SPEAKER_01: Uh, my second bold prediction Baylor wins the Big 12 and goes back to the playoff or to to the playoff for the first time.
- 35:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm still, I mean, you know, I'm I'm going down with the ship.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: I'm still bullish on David Randa.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: I still think he's a great coach.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: Um, the Big 12, one, I obviously I underestimated uh the lack of talent in the secondary and out wide, and I thought Blake Shapen was gonna be better than he was.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: I still think David Randa's a great coach.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: Um the but I think the biggest thing that nobody saw coming, at least nobody on this podcast, was how good the Big 12 was.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: This pick, as you know, Baylor underachieving was one thing, but the Big 12 was so much better than we all thought they were this year.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: So that really drove the conversation for this pick so much.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: Well, and I think from a national perspective, even it took an almost until the end of the year before the Big 12 even started getting some of the respect that it deserved.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: I mean, TCU was still getting talked about again about you know, getting jumped by a possible two-loss Big Ten team.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Um, so yeah, I really we really respected what Kansas State, what Texas, what Baylor, um, even what Kansas, what Texas Tech did.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: I mean, a lot of good teams out there.
- 36:59SPEAKER_04: Um I you know, having a regression for Dave Aranda this year um doesn't mean a ton other than it was a bigger regression than what we thought it would be.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: This was a bold prediction.
- 37:12SPEAKER_04: You swung and missed.
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: No big deal.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: What can you do?
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: What can you do?
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: Uh next bold prediction.
- 37:19SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, next bold prediction.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is for this is one of you.
- 37:22SPEAKER_01: You said Clemson would not win the ACC or go back to the playoff.
- 37:26SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna give this a little bit of both.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: They did win the ACC, they did not go to the playoff, which is crazy to think about because there's no way you're telling me in August Clemson's winning the ACC and they're not in.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: And and this is both the the getting it right and getting it wrong are a direct result of the ACC not being as strong of a conference as we thought they would be.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: Um, we both thought UNC would be stronger, North Carolina State would be stronger, we both thought Wake would be stronger, um, even some of the kind of bottom dwellers um or some of the mid middle tier teams we thought would be stronger than what they were.
- 38:07SPEAKER_04: Um, and so I thought there would be somebody, and and I thought Clemson would regress more than they did.
- 38:16SPEAKER_04: And um DJ O and Aguilale still struggled throughout the year.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they would have regressed more if the ACC was as bad.
- 38:23SPEAKER_01: One of the things that you and I were not bold predictions, but we both said it.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: We both thought one, Bayer was best in the Big 12, that was wrong.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: And two, we both said that there was lots of good ACC teams.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: That was really wrong.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: A lot of views that were not there weren't there, frankly, were not very many good teams at all in the ACC.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think had there been, Clemson would have regressed more.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: You know, they just didn't they just didn't have that many obstacles, frankly, for me.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, and we talked about it early in that pod.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: Um, they had basically just the way their schedule played out, four or five games to kind of ease into their starting lineup, you know, their their get their quarterback position squared away, which they never really did.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: But I thought it would shake out, I thought it would shake itself out earlier than it did.
- 39:06SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, I I thought they I thought the ACC would be stronger top to bottom based on last year.
- 39:11SPEAKER_04: Last year the ACC was a an extremely fun watch.
- 39:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and honestly, given how many quarterbacks from the conference, it's it just it seemed like they seemed like the quarterback was like the only spot where the conference top to bottom was pretty good everywhere else.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: It just they had a lot of holes and the middle depth, you know, wasn't there.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: Florida State was nice, Miami bottomed out.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the Virginia schools had awful seasons.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: Um, they just wasn't there.
- 39:35SPEAKER_04: Pitt and Louisville, we expected to be better than they were.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, those should have been teams that you know could upset and and play.
- 39:41SPEAKER_04: I mean, Pitt Pitt had some weird struggles.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: They're still a solid team, but like Georgia Tech got a little more out of them.
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: Georgia Tech was a top half team, and they fired their coach week four.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: Somehow they still feel like ACU was just a bad year at the ACC.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: So, what are you gonna do?
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: Uh, next bowl prediction Mel Tucker will finish fifth in his division.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: All I do is win, win, win.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: I am so proud of this pick.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: I called it a million miles away.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: I still think, I mean, don't get me wrong, I still think Mel Tucker's a great coach, but obviously Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and I tell you, and the team I said, I said Maryland was plucky, I said Mike Loxley in that offense, Rakeem Jarrett, Tualia Tungavailoa, they're gonna score a bunch of points, and the bottom is gonna fall out on Michigan State.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: I nailed that one.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: Feel really, really good about that one.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Um, I've already talked about times.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: I just, you know, I have nothing against Sparty.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Sparty's an awesome program, they'll be back.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: Um, but man, they just looked, they were terrible this year.
- 40:32SPEAKER_04: And I feel um, so I will give you a ton of credit this year for for this pick.
- 40:37SPEAKER_04: I will, because I thought I I did not think that that it would play out this way.
- 40:41SPEAKER_04: Um, but Michigan State could have won eight games and still just barely missed out on your prediction because the top of their conference was so good.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: They still would have finished behind Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Um, I didn't think they would regress as much as they did.
- 41:00SPEAKER_04: I think that's where my, you know, I I really, really pushed back on you because there was no way I thought that they would finish with five wins.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, seven, eight, maybe.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, Penn State's also like this was the this was a case I think it was this last spot.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: This was the the last the only situation I can think of where there's never been a more clear who is the third best conference.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Like the Peking order in the Big Ten, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, no doubt about it.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: And all three of those teams are happen to be in the Big Ten East looking up.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: So really it was just a matter of is Michigan State is Michigan State actually better than Rutgers, Indiana, and Maryland?
- 41:36SPEAKER_01: They are definitely better than Rutgers and Indiana because holy smokes, those teams are bad.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: But Maryland is pretty good.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: They are a solid team and they can score.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: So yeah, uh, that'll do it for that'll do it.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Um, let's go to the next one.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: Uh Bryce win, Bryce, sorry, Bryce is Mike White's pick.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: Uh Bryce Young will win the Heisman again.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: He was awesome this year.
- 42:00SPEAKER_04: He played it fantastic.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: He should have been in New York.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: If he if he didn't get hurt, he probably still would have been invited.
- 42:07SPEAKER_04: At least anybody, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: Not not not he wouldn't have won it, but he should have probably been in New York over uh Stetson Bennett at least.
- 42:16SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, I'm uh I missed on that one.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: I also I you you you said you said the USC pick wasn't that bold.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: I don't think that I don't think I don't think Bryce Young was that bold because he was a favorite, but your counter was that no one's ever it's only happened like twice in a row, like ever.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: I think Archie Griffin, like maybe one other person.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: So well, and this is why it's bold, because there's still doofus's voting on this, and to have a guy win it two times in a row, um, there's still a hum a large human bias that goes into this vote.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: Uh and and and guys that don't even, you know, people that don't even watch college football.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: So um to have a guy win it twice in a row would have been yeah, crazy.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna go pause real quick, say really quick.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: I think this was my favorite episode all season was the bold prediction show.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: This is going back and look at these now is so much fun.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: I can't wait to do this again next year.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: I'm already we'll make more, we gotta make more bold predictions.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we do.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: I totally agree.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: More bold predictions for 2023 are in the are in the are in the shoot.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, let's go to the next one.
- 43:16SPEAKER_01: Um oh god.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, this is a good one.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Uh Tyler Van Dyke is going to win the Heisman.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: That's yours.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: Tell me about tell me about my Heisman pick again.
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: Oh God.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't, I don't, you know, you you know, you were high on Miami too, but good grief.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: Listen, I you know this one I'm I I I yeah, I guess I put on Mark, I guess I put a lot of Mario Cristobal's feet.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know what happened in Miami this year.
- 43:48SPEAKER_01: I don't know why everything went so bad.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know why they lost middle Tennessee State.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know why they almost lost the UVA in seven overtimes in front of my eyes when I was there without scoring a single touchdown.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: Um finish the season.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: I know he got hurt, but they he they didn't even bring him back.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: So he only went from like dark horse Heisman candidate to not even starting.
- 44:10SPEAKER_01: Um, so you know, I'm interested to see what his offseason looks like.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: I'm assuming he'll stick around.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Um I'm assuming he'll be back at back in college and back at Miami next year, but I I think he still is better than what this season showed, but good gracious, he did not with a Heisman this year.
- 44:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is just one of those scenarios that and we see we've seen it you know in various spots around college football where you've got a high profile quarterback, and one year he looks amazing.
- 44:39SPEAKER_04: And then next year it's a head scratcher.
- 44:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: I don't I can't explain it.
- 44:43SPEAKER_04: I I didn't I never thought he'd win the Heisman.
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: But I don't know why he sucked.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: I don't know why he sucked either.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Uh next one.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Uh Brian Harson will not survive the season.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: Feel very good about that one.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: Uh it's just there's no way.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: You there he was he was bad culture from the get from the get-go.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: He was not recruiting, the writing was on the wall.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: The Saban uh dynasty is getting encrusted with gems and they couldn't tolerate it.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: And he had to go.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: I'm not surprised at all the way it happened.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Um I I I we said we I said he wouldn't survive the year, and he did not.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Um, I even said actually, I think I said he didn't get fired week seven or eight.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: I think he did get fired week seven or eight.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: So I think I even called the right week of when he got canned.
- 45:30SPEAKER_04: Um see, I think the bolder prediction was me saying that he would survive the year.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Yes, it was.
- 45:36SPEAKER_04: So but everyone thought he would be fired.
- 45:39SPEAKER_04: They thought he would they tried to fire him before the year, and I was like, no, no, no.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: He's gonna he's gonna win six or seven, and he's gonna for those of you listening.
- 45:48SPEAKER_01: My prediction was he wasn't gonna survive the show.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: Mike immediately countered and said, No, no, no, he will survive the season.
- 45:53SPEAKER_01: That's my bold prediction.
- 45:54SPEAKER_01: So it was so which was part of it was it was part of uh me zigging and him zagging to be to be fair, but I got this one right, so I feel really good about it.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: You got it right, but my prediction, I went out on a farther limit.
- 46:05SPEAKER_01: Yours was bolder than mine.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: Last bold prediction of the show.
- 46:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, the Mike Blitz will sign an NIL deal this year.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: Not the season's not over yet.
- 46:17SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say I'm not closing the book on this one yet.
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: Listen, if you if you're listening right now and you're looking for a sponsorship deal, uh you talk to us.
- 46:26SPEAKER_01: We would love to sign NIL with you guys um and let us know.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Yo, hands refrigeration.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: I'm looking at you.
- 46:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: You're looking for a face to put on your on your new cans, we got them.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: We got look at these mugs.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: We would be great, great con great clearance bread delivery.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: Looking at you.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: So uh I'm not I'm not ruling that one as a loss yet.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: So we'll see.
- 46:47SPEAKER_01: Uh next thing we're okay, we're gonna do our other thing we the next week we did more predictions.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: We did um um picking the conferences.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: Now, to be fair, we way we did this when we we drafted them essentially.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: So I was allowed to get one, I was allowed to do one, and then he was doing other.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: So I couldn't pick the same team twice.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: So Mike picked Alabama to win the SEC West.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: I could not pick them, I'd pick a different team.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: So to be fair, these aren't our true picks, but it's just a kind of a game to spice it up.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: And we're just gonna go kind of go conference by conference and work through these quickly.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'll start with uh the Big Ten, uh Mike White picking Michigan and Purdue.
- 47:24SPEAKER_04: I was pretty high on Purdue.
- 47:25SPEAKER_04: Bang bang.
- 47:26SPEAKER_04: Two for two.
- 47:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was high in Purdue and and uh they did not look as good as I thought they'd be this year.
- 47:32SPEAKER_04: They backed their way into winning the conference.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: Um the West was so bad.
- 47:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but they you know they Aiden O'Connell is solid.
- 47:40SPEAKER_04: I mean, they they were they were probably due for a bit of a better season, so I'll I'll get myself uh kind of lucked out on that one.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 47:48SPEAKER_01: Uh I went to Ohio State and um Iowa, wrong and wrong.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: Uh Iowa continue, it's is I you know, I I don't know why Iowa's still run by the well you were just so like enamored with their offense because it's just sexy.
- 48:02unknown: Yeah.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: So many, so many two-yard runs.
- 48:05SPEAKER_01: It's just so nice.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: So nice to look at.
- 48:07SPEAKER_01: Uh so there it is.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: That uh on the other side though, we'll go with the SEC.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I picked Georgia and my LSU Tigers.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: Two for two on that.
- 48:18SPEAKER_01: Feeling pretty good about that one as well.
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it came down to me just picking the fact that I just thought Georgia had an easier path, and they were.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: And obviously, I picked LSU because you picked you picked Alabama, and who else was I gonna pick in the SEC West?
- 48:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I would have picked Georgia, you picked Georgia, so I went with Tennessee, uh, who finished second in the East.
- 48:37SPEAKER_04: And of course I picked Bama out of the West, the front runner, and uh we both tripped him up.
- 48:43SPEAKER_04: So credit to my vols and your Tigers for not making that happen.
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: I couldn't be happier that I to be wrong on that pick.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm gonna call that one a win, too.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: I honestly, frankly, that's yeah, I feel the same way about that.
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: All right, let's go to uh the Pac-12.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, I picked Utah and Oregon.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, you picked USC and Washington.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: So honestly, we split that one.
- 49:03SPEAKER_01: And I'll give you credit.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: You actually said, if you were mad at me, you're like, you picked Utah.
- 49:07SPEAKER_01: I picked Utah first, and you wanted to pick Utah, but for the sake of our game, you couldn't.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: So I think there's a world where you actually hit both of these.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: I think you picked Utah and USC, which would have been the perfect pick.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: I would have gone Utah and Oregon, which is what I wanted to do anyway.
- 49:22SPEAKER_01: And I I would have gotten one.
- 49:24SPEAKER_01: So we split this one, but uh, you know, I'm gonna give you the I'm gonna tip the cap to you on the Pac-12 uh spot.
- 49:30SPEAKER_01: Uh over in the ACC, um, I took uh Clemson and Pitt.
- 49:35SPEAKER_01: So I'll give myself a and uh uh you took um you took who'd you get uh you took um Miami and NC State.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: Two whiffs.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: Two whiffs, a double whiff.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Um ACC was just a grab bag this year.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: You picked Clemson, I would have picked them for the for the purposes of this game.
- 49:57SPEAKER_04: I would have picked up.
- 49:57SPEAKER_04: I know, I know, I know.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: But you know, but like the bigger thing was just like how bad we were everywhere else.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: Like we all thought Pitt was gonna be better.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: I didn't I I when you picked Miami, I was like, yes, that's a great pick.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, you got Devin O'Leary, fifth year senior, and that in that front seven defense.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Great pick.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: I honestly I thought you were I thought you were in a great position to do that.
- 50:14SPEAKER_01: I was like, even though I did better in the ACC, I had no, I don't have much reason to take, I don't have much reason to take a victory lap on that because frankly, I loved your picks, and I said as much on the pot as well.
- 50:25SPEAKER_04: And the and NC State was, I mean, they were so close.
- 50:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, they were a bit of a disappointment.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: They still had a good year, but I mean, the that was a team that I really expected more out of this year to to kind of take the next step.
- 50:40SPEAKER_04: Um, and nobody took the next step in the ACC.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: I mean, you look at last year and you think one of these teams is gonna take the next step.
- 50:49SPEAKER_04: Nobody did, they all took steps back.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Clepson took a step back and wasn't punished for it, frankly, yeah.
- 50:54SPEAKER_04: If we're being honest, uh that's 100%.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Last but not least, the Big 12.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, I took Baylor, Okie State, you took Oklahoma and Texas.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: Jesus.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: Just you know, no, no.
- 51:08SPEAKER_04: Don't even hang your head in shame.
- 51:10SPEAKER_04: The Big 12 was awesome for this very reason.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: It was so any of these, there were any of the top five, six teams could have won the Big 12.
- 51:17SPEAKER_04: It was TCU and Kansas State, and I don't think anybody would have had that combination going into the C.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: No.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: That I've just I'm I can't believe that between the you and I, there's only 10 teams in the Big Ten, in the Big 12 at the at the moment this year.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: Sonny Dykes is a first year head coach.
- 51:32SPEAKER_01: First year head coach.
- 51:33SPEAKER_01: We picked four teams, not one of them even made the game.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: Like that's that is awesome.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: It is awesome, it is awesome.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: And it just goes to show um that um the Big 12 was just so crazy this year.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: Um, and we you were just you and I were both way off on that.
- 51:49SPEAKER_04: The Big 12 this year was what the ACC was kind of like last year.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: Totally, totally.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: A little bit of honorable mention, uh, of just kind of extra uh predictions that we kind of threw in there.
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: I predicted Oregon to cover versus Georgia.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: They did not, they lost 49 to zero in the opening week.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: That was tough.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: You predicted Kate Klebinick, Kate Club level was going to take over for DJU.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna give you credit for that one.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, you said you you were on that horse pretty much all season.
- 52:15SPEAKER_01: You could back in August.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: You should take a take a win for that.
- 52:19SPEAKER_04: I I would say that if Dabba would have made that change earlier in the year, they would have been probably a playoff team.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: They could have.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: They would have it would have saved them at least one or two.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're probably right.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: You're probably right.
- 52:33SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think trying to remember who the losses were.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: I can't also blame them at the very second.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: Um, but no, you're probably right.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: I've Kate, if nothing else, he just he brought he gave them some new energy.
- 52:44SPEAKER_01: He gave them some.
- 52:44SPEAKER_04: I mean, we'll see how he plays in the bowl game.
- 52:46SPEAKER_04: Um but he looked excellent against UNC.
- 52:49SPEAKER_04: So he did.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: He did.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Although UNC doesn't play no defense, so we'll we'll see about that.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Uh next, moving on.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Uh we also we did so for we also break into college football uh playoff, the four teams.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: The rule was that Mike and I could only pick two of the four favorites, which was Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: I took Ohio State, Georgia, to take my two wins there, and then I picked USC and Baylor.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: That close to three out of four.
- 53:15SPEAKER_01: I was pretty darn close to three out of four.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: I feeling pretty good about I got half right.
- 53:20SPEAKER_01: I'm feeling okay about that.
- 53:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, my favorites were Bama, Ohio State, so I got half on that.
- 53:26SPEAKER_04: And then my reaches were Utah, which I still feel like dang, could have been there.
- 53:31SPEAKER_01: They beat USC twice.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: There, they're the Pac-12 champions, Mike.
- 53:34SPEAKER_04: You should feel good about them.
- 53:35SPEAKER_04: I know if they don't lose that Florida game early in the season, we're having a whole different conversation.
- 53:40SPEAKER_04: And then Miami, which I didn't quite remember.
- 53:42SPEAKER_04: I think so.
- 53:43SPEAKER_04: I must have been higher on Miami than than I thought that I was.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, so I mean my big my big miss this year for sure was Baylor.
- 53:53SPEAKER_01: I think your big miss was Miami.
- 53:54SPEAKER_01: I think you were what we were those are the those are two spots that we just just whiffed on.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: Um, and then for champions, like we haven't played championship, we both picked Ohio State, which we're still alive, Mike.
- 54:05SPEAKER_01: We're we're we're both still alive in that.
- 54:07SPEAKER_04: Although at this point I hate to say this, I would love to see Ohio State win it this year.
- 54:10SPEAKER_04: I'd love to see TCU win it this year, or really Michigan.
- 54:14SPEAKER_04: So anybody but Georgia is what I mean.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: God, I just don't think they're gonna think it's gonna happen.
- 54:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, so we both picked Ohio State at the beginning of the year.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: I think right now, neither neither of us would if we're doing this right now.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: I don't think either of us would pick Ohio State, but we're still alive.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: So who knows?
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: Maybe we'll come back.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe we'll revisit this in two weeks and look like geniuses.
- 54:34SPEAKER_01: So uh that's very good.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: All right, we've been talking about an hour.
- 54:36SPEAKER_01: I think we're about done.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: Um, anything else?
- 54:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we that's we we we hit everything that I I think we needed to hit.
- 54:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think so too.
