- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Today, in our continuation of our spirituality practice, I'm
- 0:35going to talk about sacred spaces.
- 0:38So what exactly is a sacred space?
- 0:40So for me, that happens to be any place that I'm going to
- 0:45dwell for a period of time, whether it's my farm, my home,
- 0:50my studio, the chicken coop, any area that I spend an inordinate
- 0:55amount of time, I'm going to make sure it's a sacred space.
- 0:59Now, for some of you, this might be a room, this might be a
- 1:03portion of a room, this might be your vehicle.
- 1:06The reason I'm framing it this way is because I want you to
- 1:09realize there is no right way to think of this.
- 1:13So if you're thinking I have to have this, you know, elaborate
- 1:17spiritual space in order to, you know, tap into my spirituality,
- 1:23No, absolutely not. I just like that.
- 1:27I do not think that sacred spaces, while we say, you know,
- 1:31a sacred space is maybe a church, a temple, a synagogue,
- 1:36all of that. Yes, they are.
- 1:38But it doesn't have to be the only place you go to tap into
- 1:41these things and you can create them.
- 1:43So for instance, I will tell you I feel this way about the
- 1:46chicken coop because, you know, sacred spaces are supposed to
- 1:49provide you a surrounding where they foster your belief in that
- 1:55energy. Walk in and it makes you feel a
- 1:57certain way. And that's why I spent have
- 2:00spent so much time cultivating my space here on the farm, here
- 2:05in the house. The moment you drive into the
- 2:08gate, I want you to feel a certain way and I have just
- 2:14worked really hard and very much intentionally created that space
- 2:20because I want it to feel a certain way.
- 2:23That's why, you know, I believe all my animals can get along.
- 2:26That's why I believe that we have the space that we have for
- 2:30blending groups of chickens when you're not supposed to be able
- 2:33to do that. That's why I have the, you know,
- 2:37the nature that we have around us that all show up here, why we
- 2:41have animals that show up or birds say that show up here at
- 2:46the bird feeders that are unlike what my neighbors have because
- 2:50I've set the space up with intention, with intention.
- 2:54That is the key with intention. So what's important in this is
- 3:00the sacred spaces can be any place that you really want them
- 3:03to be. There is no right or wrong in
- 3:06doing this. There's just having this ability
- 3:09to look at it and say, ah, OK, I I want this to be a sacred space
- 3:13or this is a sacred space. Whatever it might be.
- 3:16It, it, it can be any, anything that you want it to be.
- 3:21It's just about getting clear on what you want it to be.
- 3:24Now it can be a lot of energy can come from a place that has
- 3:29nature in it. So it can be a very nurturing
- 3:33place if it's outside, at least for me, that's what I find.
- 3:37Outside is always that place. I would prefer to be outside any
- 3:42day of the week than to be trapped inside.
- 3:45I just like it. It feels very connected to me.
- 3:49So it is by its nature, it is a spiritual place and I tried to
- 3:55incorporate that into everything.
- 3:56When we were creating the farm and getting ready to build the
- 4:00farmhouse, one of the things that I said was I want to feel
- 4:03like the outside is in and the inside is out.
- 4:05I have to be able to blend the world's and while I drove the
- 4:09builder crazy with that, I, I really meant it.
- 4:12I really meant it. I had worked my whole life to
- 4:15get to the spot where I could do this.
- 4:17And I, when I say I worked my whole life, I really mean that.
- 4:21And it was not an easy task to get to this place and I was not
- 4:26going to sacrifice that. And we achieved it.
- 4:28So you have to be aware first of all of what that space means to
- 4:34you. And the more aware you are of
- 4:35what the space means to you, the more likely you are to be able
- 4:38to make it happen. So sit down and figure out where
- 4:41is the space that I want that to be?
- 4:43Is it multiple places like I have or is it just one, the
- 4:46studio that I have to actually record classes and things like
- 4:51that. And I feel like that is a very
- 4:54sacred space for me because I have all my favorite things in
- 4:57there, Plants. And I have a lot of favorite
- 5:01plants. I can't say they're all in
- 5:03there, but I have things, cards from my daughter, clients, gifts
- 5:08that I've been given over the years for working with people.
- 5:11I save everything because it's so magical to me.
- 5:16And think of it that way. Maybe create the space.
- 5:18That's magic. Figure it out.
- 5:20I don't care if it's a closet. It can be magical if you decide
- 5:23it's going to be. And that's the point of this.
- 5:26Make the decision and find the magic.
- 5:28All right, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:31Have a blessed day. Bye.
