- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey everybody, good morning.
- 0:30So let's have a conversation about tracking now.
- 0:34I spend a lot of time with clients figuring out what works,
- 0:38what doesn't work, and how we close the gap.
- 0:40That's a big part of my role with people is to help them stay
- 0:46on track emotionally so that they can stay on track with all
- 0:49of the things they want to get done or achieve or however you
- 0:53want to look at it, intentions, whatever you want to call it.
- 0:56So a big part of that is looking at like the the macros as well
- 1:03as the micros, meaning the big stuff and the little stuff.
- 1:06And it's very easy to look at the big stuff all the time.
- 1:10It's very easy to look at big accomplishments.
- 1:12It's much harder to track the small stuff, but the small stuff
- 1:17is what adds up all the time. You've heard me say that like if
- 1:19you do something once a day, you know, for 30 days, all of a
- 1:23sudden you've got 30 things done.
- 1:24And that's a miraculous outcome in many ways, which is like
- 1:28something that I've been practicing on the YouTube
- 1:30channel, going over there and doing a video just a short
- 1:34everyday for now. I'm well over 30 days now, but
- 1:38it's, it's made a huge difference in my psychology
- 1:41about building videos. It went from being arduous to
- 1:45fun. I've I finally am nailing down
- 1:48like how I want to use the channel, what I want to use it
- 1:51for now, seeing what people respond to so I can figure out
- 1:55how to help them the best. It's really quite a fascinating
- 1:58puzzle for me. But that wouldn't have happened
- 2:01if I hadn't started just doing one thing a day and tracking it
- 2:05and making sure that I'm doing that one thing per day.
- 2:08Now, this time of the year gets very, very tricky for people
- 2:11because it's tax time coming up and everybody has to get their
- 2:15information together and everybody has to work on it.
- 2:18Doesn't matter if you are a corporation or not.
- 2:21You have a sooner deadline if you're a corporation and you
- 2:25have to have all your stuff in submitted, you know, to the
- 2:29government in March instead of April.
- 2:32And so there's lots of things that happen and clients start to
- 2:35get very stressed out about stuff because they have to
- 2:39perform the act of putting everything together, which can
- 2:42be arduous and tedious. And everything that you think is
- 2:48not fun, it all flows right to this time of year and it gets us
- 2:52all very, very frustrated. And I'm not just speaking for my
- 2:55clients when I say that, I'm speaking for myself too.
- 2:58I doing that paperwork is just not ever been fun for me.
- 3:04One, it's the stress of, of the unknown of like, if I don't look
- 3:08at it all year and then all of a sudden it's like, Oh my gosh,
- 3:12you owe money. And why should I be surprised by
- 3:14that? If I know that I work and that
- 3:17the government takes money, I shouldn't be surprised by that.
- 3:20In fact, I should be prepared for that if I were doing things
- 3:24the proper way, meaning tracking.
- 3:27But I have never, ever, ever been great at doing that work
- 3:31because I avoid it. And that's what happens with
- 3:34most of our stuff. So when tax time comes, it
- 3:37amplifies the stress of what we are not, and it puts us in a
- 3:42position where we have to look at the behaviors and the things
- 3:45we've been ignoring. So for me, and that was a big
- 3:48thing. So at the end of last year, I
- 3:51really did make a commitment to say, OK, I'm going to have it
- 3:54all done now you know, that I changed the structure of my
- 3:58company. I'm going to have this all done
- 4:00way early and I'm going to have everything to my accountant by
- 4:04the end of January. Well, I, I struggled, I got it
- 4:09done, but I was a week late. So I got it to him the first
- 4:12week of February, which he was still really thrilled about.
- 4:14And because it gave them the time to get everything that they
- 4:17need. And I'm now I will have all my
- 4:19answers and everything back by the end of the month.
- 4:21And I've never in my life gotten it done that early, which got me
- 4:24super excited again about, OK, well, why was it still miserable
- 4:30to do it? And it was still miserable to do
- 4:32it because I was not doing the monthly stuff again.
- 4:36I just put it off. So I've made a decision of how
- 4:41am I going to change that? Like, sure, I persevered, I
- 4:44sucked it up and I got done what I had to do.
- 4:47But I could have made it a lot easier for myself if I'd just
- 4:51done some things differently. If I had just said, OK, monthly,
- 4:55I'm going to do this work just like I have to bill clients
- 5:00monthly. Like we have no problem going
- 5:02out and billing most of us. We have no problem doing all of
- 5:06that. But it's the tracking, it's the
- 5:08keeping part, keeping details and keeping that part up to date
- 5:12that kills us all. So when you make that decision,
- 5:16you're able to change it. So as I go through and I made
- 5:19that decision, I'm already changing things that will help
- 5:22me so that the end of the year, it's going to not be arduous at
- 5:25all. It's actually the intent is to
- 5:27have it done, have the outcome done.
- 5:30But it's also not just using it with this.
- 5:32It's doing it in the sense of saying, OK, I'm going to do this
- 5:35with my workouts. I'm going to do this now with
- 5:37all the little things. Keeping your refrigerator clean,
- 5:40cleaning it out at the end of every week before you actually
- 5:45go grocery shopping will help you not stack things in there
- 5:49that you don't want to push to the back.
- 5:51And then you have this big mess to clean up.
- 5:53And I promise you, you feel so much lighter when you live like
- 5:56this because you're not forcing something.
- 6:00So look at what needs to be tracked, whether it's the taxes,
- 6:04whether it's other billing, money, refrigerator, I don't
- 6:08care what it is. Look at your tracking now as we
- 6:11approach the middle of past the middle of February.
- 6:14But as we are right there, right on top of it, we have to look at
- 6:18it because if we can fix it now, we won't have to deal with it at
- 6:22the end of the year. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:25you have a blessed day. And I just want to add one more
- 6:28thing. You know what, if you track it
- 6:30now, you're going to see your wins sooner and you're going to
- 6:32feel better. So I hope you have a blessed day
- 6:35and I will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
