- 0:02Welcome to Formula Fanatics, the high-octane sub-series of BreakFix
- 0:06Podcast's drive-through motorsports news.
- 0:08This is your pit stop for all things Formula 1, from breaking
- 0:12headlines and race recaps to insider analysis and paddock buzz.
- 0:16Whether you're a diehard Tifoso, a Red Bull loyalist, or just love the
- 0:20thrill of wheel-to-wheel racing, we've got you covered with up-to-date
- 0:23F1 news delivered at full throttle.
- 0:25Strap in, because the lights are out and we're underway.
- 0:28This is Formula Fanatics.
- 0:41All right.
- 0:41It's time to talk about Formula 1.
- 0:44So where did we leave off last month- I don't know … Tanya?
- 0:48Where did we leave off last month?
- 0:50What was last month?
- 0:52Well, I think we left off with, uh, Ferrari winglets over the
- 0:56exhausts are gonna be banned.
- 0:57I didn't even know they had winglets over the exhaust.
- 0:59Yeah.
- 1:00I don't know.
- 1:01Apparently more winglets are being removed.
- 1:03I don't know what the problem is with all that.
- 1:06What is this?
- 1:07So the, the next race in line was Kimi, or, sorry, was Austria.
- 1:12Yeah.
- 1:29You said you took copious notes on these races this time Not at Austria.
- 1:33No, I didn't- No, no … for Austria.
- 1:35I did for British.
- 1:36Oh, okay.
- 1:37Well, we'll get to Silverstone.
- 1:38So Australia, so Australia.
- 1:39So Austria, we had qualifying shenanigans.
- 1:43Russell was on the pole yet again.
- 1:45So Kimi and George Russell fighting as always.
- 1:48And then it ended up being Russell, Leclerc, Hamilton, Kimi, and Verstappen,
- 1:54and then all the McLarens after that.
- 1:55So that was the qualifying order for Austria.
- 1:58So this is Red Bull's home track.
- 2:00Verstappen should have the home court advantage.
- 2:02Like, you would think they practice here all the time.
- 2:07Aston and Caddy in the back, as we expect, with Williams right in front.
- 2:10I mean, they're all just sucking wind back there.
- 2:12It's terrible.
- 2:13But Kimi goes off.
- 2:15This is the one where he's going off the track all the time.
- 2:17Like, he's widening the track and doing all this stuff, and it's like, what
- 2:21is he do- he's just cooking the turns.
- 2:23He's going in way too fast.
- 2:26This is where the Toto quote comes from, if you remember, Tanya.
- 2:30We laughed about this, because after the race Toto said something to the
- 2:34effect of, "I've said it before, we want a driver to be on full attack all the
- 2:39time. You can't accelerate a donkey, but you can calm down a racehorse." Mm-hmm.
- 2:44I walked away from that going, "Did Toto just call Russell a donkey?" He's an ass?
- 2:51Is that what I understood?
- 2:52Because I don't disagree.
- 2:54Bottas on lap three declares that his brakes are on fire, and he's done.
- 3:01He's in the pits.
- 3:02Extinguishers are putting out, putting out the fire.
- 3:05Did Bottas get out of the car and strip to his underwear and run
- 3:09around screaming he's on fire?
- 3:11I mean, that was not in the shot, but I have a feeling he did that anyway.
- 3:15It sounds like something he would've done.
- 3:17And I, I thought to myself as I was watching this, I was like, "Here's Brad
- 3:20singing, built to last, Duralast." Last.
- 3:24Built to go last.
- 3:25That's what Duralast is.
- 3:26So that's what they're using on that Cadillac.
- 3:28All right.
- 3:28So Hamilton gets around Leclerc.
- 3:30Lawson also claims that his car is on fire, but then he continues driving at
- 3:34full race speed, which made no sense.
- 3:36I don't know if that was editing of the radio stuff.
- 3:39So Perez also complains of smoke in the cockpit.
- 3:42That was lap five.
- 3:44We've made it to lap five, we got three cars that are claiming to be on fire.
- 3:49Well, that was Perez smoking his cigarettes.
- 3:52Does he smoke?
- 3:54I didn't know.
- 3:54I don't know.
- 3:55Camel, like the old days.
- 3:56Like the, like the real racers do.
- 3:58So was doing the math roughly, Tanya and I were going back and forth.
- 4:01Austria is 2.668 miles long.
- 4:04They're doing that in a minute and 11.
- 4:08That is fast.
- 4:10Holy smokes, that is a fast track.
- 4:12That is a fast lap.
- 4:14Hammy and Verstappen have a battle, which was pretty good, and then they
- 4:18pit on lap 13, 'cause the tires suck.
- 4:21By lap 25, Sainz is out.
- 4:23Kimi pits, and he should have waited to pit because there was a VSC, there was all
- 4:28that nonsense, shenanigans that were going on, and he would've maintained position.
- 4:33Tanya asked me during this, "Should Carlos seek other employment?" I
- 4:38don't remember why you made that comment, but you were like, "Carlos
- 4:41Sainz needs to find another job."
- 4:44Uh, let's see.
- 4:45They pit Hamilton and they put him on softs, which put him
- 4:49onto a three-stop strategy.
- 4:50Made zero sense.
- 4:51Ferrari being Ferrari, and taking everything Brad said last time,
- 4:56and flushing it down the toilet.
- 4:57He does not stand a chance.
- 4:59I'm telling you, they're gonna screw him every time they can.
- 5:02Well, what I said last time was, who has a better chance of winning a
- 5:04championship, Hamilton or Verstappen?
- 5:07Well, at this rate, neither of them.
- 5:09But, you know, hey, whatever.
- 5:11That's not true.
- 5:12Well, I'm not talking about just this year.
- 5:14I mean, just who, who g- who gets their next championship first.
- 5:17Yeah.
- 5:17Hamilton or Verstappen.
- 5:18I mean, Hamilton's currently second in points, so.
- 5:20Kimi is gonna get the championship.
- 5:22That's what gonna happen.
- 5:23Still doesn't qualify for my question, but okay.
- 5:26I always have to announce this, Brad.
- 5:27You'll be happy to know that on lap 47, Stroll retired his car.
- 5:33Made it to lap 47.
- 5:36Let's see.
- 5:37Kimi pits once again before a VSC, but the VSC amounted to nothing.
- 5:41So, that was like a wah-wah moment.
- 5:42Wah, wah, wah.
- 5:43And I love the fact, I don't remember which of the announcers it was.
- 5:46Maybe it was Coulthard.
- 5:47I don't know if you can remember, Tanya.
- 5:49But the announcer had said that that Aston is pig slow.
- 5:52Right.
- 5:52And Alonso was holding up Russell on lap 70, which was absolutely amazing.
- 5:57I was like, "Keep doing it, buddy. Keep doing it." And then in the
- 6:00end, the finishing order was Russell, Verstappen, Antonelli,
- 6:03Piastri, and then Hamilton fifth.
- 6:06Hamilton fifth.
- 6:08There you go, Brad.
- 6:28So Tanya, you took copious notes for Silverstone.
- 6:30Let's compare notes.
- 6:31Let's see what you have.
- 6:33Let's see.
- 6:36Let me find said notes.
- 6:38So my first note I wrote down was that Alonso almost
- 6:42retired on the formation lap.
- 6:44Yes, yes.
- 6:45Starts from the pit lane.
- 6:47Yeah.
- 6:48Quality.
- 6:49Aston Martin.
- 6:50I don't remember my note of why Ferrari's jump Antonelli on pole.
- 6:54'Cause he stalled, like always.
- 6:56Or I mean, he didn't stall, but he had a crap start.
- 6:59Mm. So Hamilton got around him.
- 7:01Oh, they got around him?
- 7:01Okay.
- 7:02Yeah.
- 7:02So the starting order was H- Antonelli, Hamilton, Leclerc, and Russell.
- 7:06So it was like- Ah, okay … Ferrari, Mercedes, Ferrari, Mercedes.
- 7:09But then Hamilton ended up with a five-second penalty, 'cause
- 7:12apparently he moved on start.
- 7:15Yes.
- 7:17Whatever.
- 7:18And then we'd made it not 10 laps before we had complaints from
- 7:21Russell- Yes … about his gearbox.
- 7:24Uh-huh.
- 7:25I couldn't find the McLarens, 'cause they changed the color.
- 7:28Piastri got front wing damage.
- 7:31Yep.
- 7:31Cadillac somehow ends up in, like, 15th and 16th position for a lap.
- 7:39For a lap.
- 7:40So at this point, I wrote a note that said, "Did Hülkenberg and
- 7:45Bortleyn, Bortoleto, did they switch cars for this race?"
- 7:50'Cause Bortoleto was 11th, and Hülkenberg was- Mm-hmm … 19th.
- 7:54Yeah.
- 7:54Didn't he podium at Silverstone last year?
- 7:57I don't know.
- 7:57I don't think so.
- 7:58Yeah, but if he did, it was, like, a weird fluke thing.
- 8:02Wasn't it a different car too?
- 8:04Sauber.
- 8:04Still Sauber.
- 8:05No, but w- I, I, I thought he was, like, the backup driver.
- 8:08Like, he was filling in for somebody else who was sick, or
- 8:10was that, like, another year?
- 8:11No, no, Hülkenberg podiumed last year, 'cause I think everybody else
- 8:15wrecked or something like that.
- 8:16But, but he, he was filling in for a driver who was ill and couldn't drive.
- 8:20Yeah, I don't think that's- 'Cause he, I don't think he was actually on the
- 8:23roster last year, which is why Audi picked him up to- No, he drove last year.
- 8:26He 100% drove last year.
- 8:27Oh, he did?
- 8:28Yeah, yeah.
- 8:28Then I'm thinking about an- I, I guess it must've been the year before then.
- 8:30Yeah.
- 8:31All right.
- 8:31So the five-second penalty, and then lap 17, Verstappen passes Russell,
- 8:36and then Max heads to the pits, which I thought was a terrible waste.
- 8:40He spent all that time- Yeah
- 8:41trying to catch Russell, get around him, and then he
- 8:43immediately ducks into the pits.
- 8:45Yeah.
- 8:46That was kinda dumb.
- 8:47That messed him up, basically.
- 8:49That cost him everything.
- 8:50And then lap 22, we had that virtual safety car because of that umbrella.
- 8:56Yes, that was funny.
- 8:58And only one person was able to pit off that.
- 9:01Like, Ocon had great luck to be able to go in.
- 9:04But then this is when Hamilton starts falling back because
- 9:07he had to serve the penalty.
- 9:08Correct.
- 9:08So Russell ends up around him.
- 9:10Correct.
- 9:10And then Leclerc ends up in first at this point.
- 9:13Correct.
- 9:13But Kimi is behind him, and Kim- and he's like on it.
- 9:18He's coming.
- 9:19He's coming for him.
- 9:20S- uh, and then there's a battle between Hamilton and Russell behind Verstappen.
- 9:25That's around lap 30.
- 9:26And then Russell ends up with a puncture- Yes … on lap 35, and he
- 9:30starts dropping back and dropping back.
- 9:32He drops back to, like, seventh.
- 9:34And then there was- Yes … the maneuver because they needed to pit
- 9:37Antonelli, and he almost hits the Audi as he's coming into the pit.
- 9:41He did this, remember he dove inside of him.
- 9:43Mm-hmm.
- 9:43He was, like, in a precarious spot.
- 9:44And then we thought, "Oh, man, they're gonna penalize him," because he came
- 9:48in hot, and the Audi was, like, dropped anchor, like, right in front of him.
- 9:51Yeah.
- 9:51So he was trying not to hit him.
- 9:53And it was Hülkenberg, 'cause he was driving Bortoleto's car.
- 9:56And then he loses 7.7 seconds to Leclerc because of that.
- 9:59Correct.
- 9:59Because he had to avoid the Audi and do all that shenanigans.
- 10:03But if you paid attention, the next lap, he had already gained two seconds.
- 10:08And then Hamilton gets around Verstappen, and then the next lap after that,
- 10:12Hülkenberg's Audi breaks and causes- Yep
- 10:14a virtual safety car because it's so reliable, said no one.
- 10:19And not that anybody cares, but Lance Stroll's getting a
- 10:21five-second track limits penalty.
- 10:23'Cause he violated the track limits five times.
- 10:26That man is not that fast to be violating track limits.
- 10:28Who cares?
- 10:29He's laps down.
- 10:31He's so far behind.
- 10:32Let him drive and do everywhere he wants.
- 10:34It won't make a difference.
- 10:37So then there's the stupidity with yet another Kimi Pitting They changed the
- 10:41nose of the car, which cost him time.
- 10:44Well, he started falling back, and then they thought something
- 10:48was wrong with the car.
- 10:50Yes.
- 10:50So he goes in the pit.
- 10:51They go to replace the wing, and then of course he loses all his positions.
- 10:55But then he's still slow, and he gets passed by Lando, and then he
- 10:59has a controlled off, and he's like, "My suspension's broken." And then
- 11:03there's all this back and forth.
- 11:05About the wheel shield.
- 11:06They kept telling him it was the wheel shields or something.
- 11:09Well, it was, and then they're like, "No, it's the wheel shield thing."
- 11:12And he's like, "But the car's not turning." So then they have him pit
- 11:16again to take that wheel shield off.
- 11:19But then at that point, he's, like, in 10th place, and it's lap 45.
- 11:23And then the FIA penalizes him for going off track even though
- 11:27he couldn't control the car.
- 11:29It was ridiculous.
- 11:30Yeah, he kept having track limits, but he couldn't control the car, and that was
- 11:35a whole big to-do, 'cause it's like in this situation he's not gaining anything,
- 11:39and it's clearly, like, a problem.
- 11:41He's not doing it intentionally.
- 11:42But anyway, he gets that five-second penalty, so he's like
- 11:45a man on a mission, desperate.
- 11:47Oh, man, I felt so bad for him.
- 11:48It was like the old days- Yeah … where it was like,
- 11:51you know, he's trying so hard.
- 11:53He's gonna go out there.
- 11:53He only has one gear, but he's gonna Schumacher this thing to the
- 11:56end, and he's gonna keep going.
- 11:58You know, those kind of things.
- 12:00Despite everything, he was, he was creeping the gap.
- 12:03Yep.
- 12:04That he would've maybe made the five seconds to stay, at least to
- 12:07get the one point of 10th position.
- 12:09But then Max loses it.
- 12:12Yep.
- 12:12Lap 48.
- 12:14Loses it into the gravel, and then we go into this five-lap debacle of yellow
- 12:21flag and getting the car out, and then we gotta wait constantly for the fucking
- 12:27Aston Martins, who are nine laps down, to circle back around to the front.
- 12:31And by that time, everyone got super excited, and, "Oh, we're gonna have
- 12:36a one-lap shootout." And then it was like, "And we're done." It's terrible.
- 12:41So at that point then it was over, 'cause Kimi had no chance of, you know,
- 12:47having that five seconds, at least five-second gap to keep a point, so.
- 12:51So my girls watched Silverstone with me, and as we were getting towards the end
- 12:55and they were in that behind the safety car for all those last four or five laps,
- 13:00my littlest one goes, "Dad, is, is this how the race is actually gonna end?"
- 13:04And I said, "Yeah, honey, this is it. We're gonna watch them putt around
- 13:07the track for the last five laps, 'cause they're not gonna, they're
- 13:10not gonna go green again." So the important thing to note, though,
- 13:13I guess, is the Ferrari strategy.
- 13:16And they were damned if they did and damned if they didn't, and they
- 13:19ended up damned, because they pitted Lewis to go on softs, thinking
- 13:25they were gonna restart the race.
- 13:27Yes.
- 13:27And Russell did not, so Russell ends up second because Hamilton pitted,
- 13:32and they never restarted the race.
- 13:33They should have never done that.
- 13:34He had enough life in those mediums.
- 13:36He should've been fine.
- 13:37That was rather unfortunate, too.
- 13:39So after all that, then Russell's got the puncture, and he falls all the way behind.
- 13:45He, he somehow ends back up on podium.
- 13:47Second.
- 13:48So it ended up being Leclerc for a win, Russell second, Hamilton third.
- 13:52So Hamilton podium.
- 13:53Yay for you, Brad.
- 13:54Hamilton podium.
- 13:56And Kimi ends up ninth, but the penalty forces him back to 16th spot.
- 14:0215th.
- 14:03Yeah.
- 14:03He ends up in 15th.
- 14:04Which gives, like, Audi points for the first time ever or
- 14:06something garbage like that.
- 14:08No, it was their second time having points.
- 14:09Yeah, but they didn't earn them.
- 14:10It's like, whatever.
- 14:11They still would've had the points, because Kimi wasn't in front of them.
- 14:15So whether he was- Oh, yeah … 10th with the five second penalty or
- 14:17not, Bortoleto was still in eighth.
- 14:20He was catching them, though.
- 14:21He was catching them.
- 14:22And even if Kimi was still at the front, Bortoleto would've still had points.
- 14:26He was- But the sad part is I thought Mercedes would've contested
- 14:30the penalty and tried to regain the points for Antonelli, especially
- 14:34with manufacturer's points, too.
- 14:36They didn't even bother to argue about it.
- 14:39They were just, they just let it go.
- 14:41Yeah, well, they probably know better.
- 14:43They were, they probably received guidance that said, "Let it go."
- 14:46Just, I don't, I don't understand.
- 14:48All right.
- 14:49So while all that was going down, Brad, you'll be delighted to know
- 14:57Breaking news.
- 14:59Christian Horner has been in conversation with Aston Martin yet again.
- 15:04The most unhirable person in Formula 1 might end up with a job
- 15:08at the worst team in Formula 1.
- 15:10What do we think?
- 15:11Seems fitting.
- 15:13Although I thought Cadillac was the worst team.
- 15:15Aston's way worse.
- 15:16They gotta be way worse.
- 15:18They just got major upgrades.
- 15:20Oh, God.
- 15:21Major upgrades for Hungary.
- 15:23And
- 15:26the major upgrades were so good that in FP1, Lance Stroll's suspension
- 15:30broke and sent him spinning.
- 15:33He did that to himself.
- 15:34That had nothing to do with the car.
- 15:36That was just him being him.
- 15:38Any rate.
- 15:38All right, so Christian Horner talking to Aston.
- 15:41I think that's a recipe for failure, but whatever.
- 16:07So let's talk about Spa.
- 16:09Classic legacy track, doesn't matter, 24 hours of Spa, Formula 1.
- 16:13Spa is one of the kings, right?
- 16:15It's up there with Le Mans.
- 16:16It's up there with the Nürburgring.
- 16:18Spa is Spa.
- 16:18If you don't know what Spa is, I don't know why you're a motorsport fan.
- 16:21But Kimi on the pole.
- 16:23Yeah.
- 16:24Right where be- he belongs.
- 16:26Going into that terrible turn one, where it's just like straight up
- 16:30Forza chaos going into turn one.
- 16:31But it was a cloudy day on race day.
- 16:34Max Verstappen second place.
- 16:36Look at that.
- 16:37Look at Max is coming back, 'cause of the improvements they've been
- 16:40making to the car and stuff.
- 16:42The Aston started, started the race six seconds behind.
- 16:48With Cadillac only three seconds behind.
- 16:50And Stroll was DFL.
- 16:52Absolutely last.
- 16:54So that's their, their qualifying times, right?
- 16:56Six seconds back, three seconds back, and then Stroll dead last.
- 16:58So the best part of Spa, like I didn't need to watch
- 17:03anything past, what was that?
- 17:05Turn four, Tanya?
- 17:07Mm. Russell in the weeds on the first lap
- 17:13That's right He tried to close the door on Hamilton, and
- 17:17Hamilton showed him the wall.
- 17:19He said, "Grubbing is racing, baby. Bye-bye." DNF.
- 17:24DNF.
- 17:25I don't know why there was so much satisfaction to see Russell plus the word
- 17:29out for, like, the entirety of the race.
- 17:32It was just, like, it was so gratifying to see that on the
- 17:36standings as we were watching.
- 17:38Russell's out.
- 17:39Lewis gets a five-second penalty, but it took them, like, a half an
- 17:43hour to make a decision on whether or not they were gonna penalize it.
- 17:47Like, we, we had all forgotten about it.
- 17:48We're like, "Ah, Russell's in the woods.
- 17:50Who gives a shit?
- 17:50Move on with life.
- 17:51Hamilton's doing his thing." And then the FIA is like, "Oh, yeah, yeah,
- 17:55because of that, five-second penalty." You're like, "Oh, come on, guys.
- 17:58Like, really?
- 17:58We've got nothing else better to do?" So Ocon gets a puncture.
- 18:02Then Piastri and Leclerc collide.
- 18:05That was a whole other thing.
- 18:07Followed by a r- a radio call from Perez in the Cadillac, "I think my suspension is
- 18:12broken." These Cadillacs are hot garbage.
- 18:16Are they being made with, like, advanced auto parts?
- 18:19Like, what are we doing here?
- 18:21They're built Ford Tough.
- 18:22It's… Oh, is that what it is?
- 18:23Yes.
- 18:24And then there was a whole virtual safety car pit shenanigans.
- 18:30That's what I wrote down at least.
- 18:31Then the moment of moments.
- 18:35Tanya, you're gonna have to explain this one.
- 18:37So Hamilton comes into the pit.
- 18:39Mm. This is, like, later in the race.
- 18:40This is after all the dust settles- This is at the end, yeah … and the, he serves
- 18:42his penalty, blah, blah, blah, they're doing tires, and then what happens?
- 18:47So what you see is basically when they go back and they replay it, is it
- 18:52didn't make sense where he came out.
- 18:54And then they go back and they replay it and you see him,
- 18:56like, hitting his pit guy.
- 19:00And so then what was revealed at the end was basically he had called
- 19:05in, he needed a wing adjustment.
- 19:07That didn't get communicated to everybody.
- 19:10So when they did the tire change and everything, they green lit him.
- 19:13So h- him seeing the green light, he went, because that's
- 19:17what they're all trained to do.
- 19:18Except the wing guy, the wing adjuster guy, had gotten the message to adjust
- 19:23the wing, so he stepped out in front of the car to do the wing adjustment.
- 19:27So he got hit a little bit.
- 19:28He was fine.
- 19:29But then there was a penalty there possibly for Hamilton.
- 19:34It didn't, uh, end up being a time penalty, 'cause they found him not
- 19:37at fault, but they did fine Ferrari, I think, I think 30,000 something.
- 19:42Who gets that money?
- 19:44I don't know.
- 19:45Ferrari gave $30,000 to who?
- 19:47What did the FIA do?
- 19:48Did they give it to the guy that got hit by the car?
- 19:51Like, it doesn't make any sense.
- 19:52Where does that money go?
- 19:53Doesn't it go into, like, the pooled, like, prize purse that gets
- 19:57distributed amongst the teams at the end of the year based on their points?
- 20:01Like, maybe.
- 20:01The constructor's stuff.
- 20:03No idea.
- 20:04Maybe, may- I, I just didn't understand, like, where does that money go?
- 20:07I mean, they, they fined drivers in the past too for other things,
- 20:10and it's like, you know, for swearing or something like that.
- 20:12But I was just like, "I don't know where that money goes." It's very curious.
- 20:14Before we move on, when an F1 team is fined, the money is paid directly to
- 20:18the FIA, and they then distribute it to, like, grassroots projects, education and
- 20:23training, and member clubs and stuff.
- 20:25So the short answer is the FIA gets the money directly.
- 20:29Charitable donation.
- 20:30And they do whatever they want with it.
- 20:31And then they, they do whatever they want with it.
- 20:33So that's how you lease a Rolls Royce.
- 20:36So by the way, Brad, just wanna let you know, Lance Stroll, lap 26.
- 20:41Lance Stroll what?
- 20:42Lap 26, that's when he retires the car.
- 20:46Mm. Our, our reigning champion, Lando Norris.
- 20:50You know, they talked about Silverstone, 564,000 fans in the Lando Norris
- 20:56fan zone at Maggots and Beckets and all this stuff, blah, blah, blah.
- 21:00You know, champion.
- 21:01L- Lando has done jack of all this year.
- 21:03Yeah, y- you don't hear his name very often at all.
- 21:06They don't show him that much either, unless he's dicing with Kimi or
- 21:09somebody else that actually matters.
- 21:11'Cause they're saying the McLarens aren't competitive
- 21:13yet, but they got upgrades also.
- 21:15I think Lando is not competitive, and I think last year was rigged, but I'm
- 21:19just gonna leave that where it is.
- 21:20I've said it before, I'll say it again.
- 21:22It's gotta be really hard to be a Lando fan because as a reigning
- 21:26champion, it's not coming together.
- 21:28I mean, we can make the excuses, but McLaren is all about their preparedness.
- 21:33Like, that's their thing is, you know, you win the race before the race starts
- 21:36because of all your preparation and your planning and your this and your
- 21:39that and the other thing, and it's just, it's not coming together for them.
- 21:42So I don't know what's going on, but you're, you're right, Brad.
- 21:45There is not a lot of TV coverage when it comes to McLaren.
- 21:47Piastri, if you don't think Lando's getting coverage, Piastri, he
- 21:50might as well not even be there.
- 21:52Barely talk about him.
- 21:53And last year was all Piastri, you know, and Lando and all that kind of things.
- 21:57So anyway, lap 34, Kimi retakes the lead.
- 22:01Takes the lead at Spa for…
- 22:03He takes it away from Leclerc.
- 22:04There is a little battle between Hamilton and Piastri.
- 22:07In lap 40, Hamilton is back up to fourth place, so good for Hammy.
- 22:12And then Kimi takes home his sixth victory.
- 22:15He wins Spa.
- 22:17I mean, that's a feather in your cap to win Spa.
- 22:19So it's Kimi, Leclerc, Verstappen, and then Hamilton, you know, somewhere
- 22:23down there, fourth and beyond.
- 22:25Lando came in seventh.
- 22:27Just wanna point that out in case anybody was keeping track.
- 22:29And, uh, Audi, exactly where we expect them to be, eighth and 13th.
- 22:35Not getting any better, not getting any worse.
- 22:37I keep saying they're d- they're gonna be solidly in the middle.
- 22:41Well, unless these Aston Martin upgrades and McLaren upgrades.
- 22:45I think Aston Martin's goal with their upgrades is just to finish a race.
- 22:49Yeah.
- 22:49Yeah.
- 22:50I, I would agree.
- 22:51At this point, yes, I would agree with that wholeheartedly.
- 22:54That's the upgrade, they can finish.
- 22:56Yeah.
- 22:56For sure.
- 22:57So I wanted to close out our Formula 1 chat.
- 23:01I want to bring this up.
- 23:02You know, Brad, we talked about the Crocs in the past.
- 23:05Have you seen this Costco Formula 1 merchandise?
- 23:09This is amazing.
- 23:11Look at this thing.
- 23:12Not only is this a pool floaty, it has joysticks and a propeller.
- 23:18You can go around your lazy river, your Olympic-sized pool, your buddy-
- 23:22wherever it is, the waterpark, with a powered Formula 1 floaty.
- 23:27What do you think about that?
- 23:28I must have one.
- 23:30Feel like I need to get one even though I don't.
- 23:31I'll put it in the bathtub and just make vroom-vroom sounds.
- 23:34I mean, look at this thing.
- 23:35I mean, I was kinda thinking, like, you could just sit in it and watch TV.
- 23:39And still make vroom-vroom sounds.
- 23:41Like, I, I mean, this is so g- I wonder what it costs.
- 23:44$300. Does it really?
- 23:46The price was right there.
- 23:47It's in the, it's in the video.
- 23:49Oh, I missed it.
- 23:50I'm too mesmerized by looking at the guy in this thing.
- 23:54But, yeah.
- 23:55Sorry, I was still trying to find that F1 pool float, but I think it's AI-generated.
- 23:59I don't think it's real.
- 24:00There's so many pictures of it, though.
- 24:02I, I j- I understand, but none of them are motorized.
- 24:05Oh.
- 24:05You can buy the float.
- 24:07I don't see any of them that are actually motorized.
- 24:09Oh.
- 24:10Hmm.
- 24:11I still want one.
- 24:12It is popping up all over the place, though.
- 24:15I mean, this is going on the holiday shopping guide.
- 24:17This is the must-get item of the year, your Formula 1 pool floaty.
- 24:22And you know what, Brad?
- 24:23In order to go to the pool, you gotta wear Crocs.
- 24:27Gotta wear your Crocs to the pool so you can use your Formula 1 pool floaty.
- 24:31Boom.
- 24:32Solved it.
- 24:34Tanya, you brought something else up here, though.
- 24:36There's some other Formula 1 merchandise coming to the table.
- 24:39Am I wrong?
- 24:39This is from Kroger.
- 24:41Well, it's Old Spice, but I found it on the Kroger website.
- 24:44There's also the red Formula 1 car version sold somewhere else.
- 24:48But apparently Old Spice has a deodorant collection.
- 24:52It's the F1 collection Redline or Fast Track.
- 24:57What do we think this smells like?
- 24:59Desperation.
- 25:00Oh, so it's the Aston Martin one then.
- 25:06Apparently there's three in the Formula 1.
- 25:08There's Redline Rodeo, Coastal Curves, which is that one, and then Royal Rush.
- 25:14I want to smell these.
- 25:16They have soap too.
- 25:18Look.
- 25:18They have, I was gonna say, they also have body wash and bar soap.
- 25:22Wow.
- 25:24This is a cool gift.
- 25:25Is this all limited production stuff, though, 'cause I
- 25:28gotta get it like now then?
- 25:30It's probably, I would assume so, 'cause I think they have different collections.
- 25:34Can you order from Kroger online?
- 25:36I wonder, can you order from Old Spice online?
- 25:38Well, I couldn't find it on their website.
- 25:41Let's search.
- 25:42But I bet you can find it.
- 25:44I'm sure you can order it somewhere.
- 25:46Well, if they would stop popping up ads everywhere
- 25:49trying to get me to buy other…
- 25:50I know they changed their branding recently, 'cause I saw that.
- 25:52I could not find the, it on their main website, which is
- 25:55what I was trying to do earlier.
- 25:57Dang.
- 25:58I'm gonna have to get me some Old Spice Formula 1 products.
- 26:02I did notice that there was a bunch of World Cup.
- 26:06Dove is doing a World Cup thing, so it kind of makes sense that Old
- 26:08Spice might try to compete with them and do something Formula 1 related.
- 26:11So that's super cool.
- 26:12You know, if you could get your hands on some, it'd still
- 26:14make a good stocking stuffer.
- 26:16S- soap doesn't go bad if you buy it now, so you can hang onto it, give
- 26:19it to somebody later in the year.
- 26:21I think it's a good plan.
- 26:23All right.
- 26:24There's actually four races in July, but we're gonna cover
- 26:28Budapest in the next episode.
- 26:30That way we have something to talk about along with the silly season,
- 26:33and we look forward to talking about, you know, the second half of
- 26:36a very long Formula 1 season, even though we've, we missed two races.
- 26:39With your pool floaty.
