- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop and Happy Mother's Day.
- 0:32So today I thought I would talk about how special moms are
- 0:37because you know what, we've all had a mom one way or another and
- 0:42whether we get along with her or we don't get along with her or
- 0:45whatever status we have with our mom's.
- 0:49We have to look at the fact that their imams and it is such a
- 0:55unique role to be in because often it means you have to be
- 0:59everything often it Is that you have to be the nurturer.
- 1:02You have to be the provider. You have to be the
- 1:05disciplinarian, you have to make choices for the family.
- 1:09And let me tell you, as one of those people who's a mom, it is
- 1:13tough. It's really the toughest role
- 1:17that I've ever had, because you have to think Beyond yourself,
- 1:21and when you don't think Beyond yourself and you're just focused
- 1:24on yourself, there are implications with that and, you
- 1:28know, I'm not talking about the kind of thing of self.
- 1:30Preservation of taking care of yourself so you can take care of
- 1:33them. I'm talking about if you just
- 1:34start making choices that you know.
- 1:36Okay, this is what I want and I don't really care and it's going
- 1:39to really hurt children that has implications for other on.
- 1:44And boy, I'll tell you firsthand.
- 1:48I've made some of those choices when I was young and not bright
- 1:51and had a beautiful little girl and I will tell you it's not
- 1:55that I regret them because they're all part of the fabric
- 1:58of my life. But when I go back and I look at
- 2:00it and Say wow I could have done a different job for sure.
- 2:04We can always go back and we can say, I could have done a
- 2:07different job, maybe I could have done better.
- 2:09It is what it is. Because I did what I did and it
- 2:12all happens for a reason. Yes, absolutely.
- 2:15But at the same time when you, you know, Monday Morning
- 2:18Quarterback it, you look at it. So when you're, when you're that
- 2:22Mom, and you're sitting there and you're doing those things
- 2:25today, give yourself some Grace be grateful for the choices, you
- 2:29have made. Be grateful for where they
- 2:31brought you to and be grateful for all the things that you
- 2:34learned from it. Now, when you're looking at
- 2:37someone else that, you know, if you're looking up and saying,
- 2:40well, my mom wasn't a great mom and Mother's Day really bothers
- 2:44me, well, look at it for the fact that there were gifts and
- 2:49what she gave to you. So like for instance my mother's
- 2:52anxiety is a well-known on this channel.
- 2:55I talk about it often about how anxious she was and how that
- 2:58affected and infected My life with different things, but if it
- 3:03wasn't for her being anxious, I wouldn't be here with you guys.
- 3:06I would be doing something else. I wouldn't be doing, I wouldn't
- 3:10have had this experience with emotions.
- 3:11I wouldn't have been able to go through all of this.
- 3:13Now, when I was little, I didn't like it, I didn't like the
- 3:16feeling of getting in the car and going somewhere with her and
- 3:19never understanding, you know, if she was going to be able to
- 3:22find her way home way before GPS and cell phones.
- 3:25And all of that, I didn't like that she couldn't do certain
- 3:28things because she would get anxious about About it.
- 3:31And it drove me really, really, really insane.
- 3:34When I was little and then to know that I picked up some of
- 3:37those things, you know, I was not proud of them but now I can
- 3:41sit here and I can say to you all these years later, you know,
- 3:45what it was for the best, and I have no resentment towards it
- 3:49because it was part of the fabric.
- 3:51It was, it was one thread of many that made up this beautiful
- 3:55blanket of my life. So, I really want to Press if
- 4:01you can sit today, if you have those situations today is a
- 4:05great day to heal them because it's supposed to be about the
- 4:09mothers. It's supposed to be about that
- 4:11part and you can sit and you can just say, you know what rather
- 4:14than operating from a place of pain, I'm going to choose to
- 4:17operate from a place of learning.
- 4:19I'm going to operate from a place of curiosity.
- 4:22And there are always things that you don't know.
- 4:25I mean I can't begin to express to you.
- 4:27Even in my own family, the Family secret.
- 4:30It's that we find out and the things that we never knew and
- 4:35you know as people get older and they are you know they have more
- 4:39of their life behind them than front of them.
- 4:42They want to start sharing some of those and before you know it
- 4:44you're finding out things that you had no idea and you you
- 4:50can't imagine what it's like to to be in someone else's shoes,
- 4:55not only in their shoes but at a different point in time.
- 4:58So when we go back and I think about what my Grandmother had to
- 5:01go through and living in the 1930s and not having enough
- 5:08money to feed her children and her husband out of work.
- 5:11And her trying to figure out, how can I make money?
- 5:14How can I do something that's going to help our family?
- 5:18How can I be that person? I can only imagine because you
- 5:23got to think it's totally different point in time.
- 5:25There's they don't even have the number of Opera job
- 5:28opportunities that we have. Let alone Own the amount of
- 5:31places to go shop the places for anything it's limited.
- 5:35So when you go back and you start to use your imagination
- 5:39for the greater good. Not for the problem.
- 5:42You start to learn a lot and you can see, wow, okay.
- 5:45I don't know what I didn't know. Just like I don't know what it
- 5:49was like to be my mother living in you know, in the 1950s
- 5:54growing up. I don't know what that's like I
- 5:56can look at historical records but I don't know what it was
- 5:59like. I don't know what Is there were
- 6:01I we want to believe it was the good old days but was it, who
- 6:04knows? So I'm going to say, show up
- 6:08with some Grace, use your imagination, rewrite it and come
- 6:11to a place of Peace if you can. And for those of you who had
- 6:15great mothers and want to celebrate them, you know, the
- 6:20appreciation that you can give to a person, is it just feels so
- 6:26good, when that's the case, when you're on the receiving end of
- 6:30it. So and I know because both my
- 6:32kids have been doing that for the last, you know, couple days
- 6:36because it was my birthday and now you know it's Mother's Day
- 6:40and I can just say it is a gift. So if you're planning to do
- 6:48something, make it special, say the words make someone feel
- 6:55illuminated. Go in illuminate.
- 6:57Someone today have something. Really special and just say it
- 7:03from the heart. So I hope you have a blessed
- 7:05day, my friends and I will see you tomorrow.
- 7:08Bye.
