- 0:12Speaker 1: On Mango on the drummer from a Blaze, a hard
- 0:15Speaker 1: rocky outfit from Melbourne. We've just released our new album,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Sink Your Teeth In, and we're about to take in
- 0:20Speaker 1: it overseas of the UK and Europe.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Fantastic Mage. Thanks joining us today.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Brother, thanks so much for having me my pleasure brace.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So we'll start off on the album. Mate, like the Blaze, recently,
- 0:31Speaker 2: didn't release your second studio album, Seek Your Teeth In.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So how's an early reception been for it?
- 0:36Speaker 3: It's been amazing.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I mean we've been dropping singles off it for about
- 0:39Speaker 1: two and a half years because that's.
- 0:42Speaker 3: That's the world that we live in now.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Everybody wants singles, but with how much time and effort
- 0:46Speaker 1: and money goes into recording something professionally. Now, we didn't
- 0:50Speaker 1: want to just record everything, drop a single and release
- 0:52Speaker 1: the rest.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We wanted to really bring this thing out for everything
- 0:56Speaker 3: we could.
- 0:56Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean we've released five singles and a
- 0:59Speaker 1: bonus track was a single as well off an eight
- 1:02Speaker 1: to nine song album depending on how you look at it.
- 1:04Speaker 1: So it's been received really well and our fans have
- 1:08Speaker 1: absolutely loved it. I mean, even the new songs that
- 1:10Speaker 1: were still on the album and our big launch and
- 1:11Speaker 1: Melbourne the other week. I was screaming every lyric back
- 1:14Speaker 1: at us and even kind of critically. It's gotten a
- 1:17Speaker 1: lot of praise at the moment, which is fantastic.
- 1:20Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and like you mentioned, you're a hard rock band,
- 1:22Speaker 2: ro but can you dive into the album a bit
- 1:24Speaker 2: more from a musical point of view and tell us
- 1:26Speaker 2: what you were going for?
- 1:28Speaker 1: So one of the things that A Blaze has always
- 1:30Speaker 1: been really proud of, and I've been really proud of
- 1:32Speaker 1: with us is that we can write in a whole
- 1:34Speaker 1: bunch of different styles and genres and it always comes
- 1:37Speaker 1: out sound a lot of Blaze. So you know, on
- 1:40Speaker 1: our first album, it was a rock album, but we
- 1:43Speaker 1: had a hoe down, we had an Irish drinking song,
- 1:45Speaker 1: we had an acoustic song that I the Drama sung
- 1:48Speaker 1: and played acoustic on. We could do a whole bunch
- 1:51Speaker 1: of different stuff, and so on this album we've done
- 1:53Speaker 1: the same thing. I mean, it's an eight song or
- 1:56Speaker 1: nine song with the bonus album, but you know, we've
- 1:58Speaker 1: got the heaviest song we've ever written. We've got some
- 2:01Speaker 1: real Aussie rock style stuff. We've got uh, We've got
- 2:05Speaker 1: a big six minute gospel epic that finishes the thing.
- 2:09Speaker 1: We've got a big glamy song with different kind of nightmare.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We've got a southern rock song as well. We just
- 2:15Speaker 1: had a Christmas song again, so we are really kind
- 2:19Speaker 1: of wanted to show that we're still doing what we do.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But you know, after our first time, our writing has
- 2:26Speaker 1: I think really taken a step forward. We can kind
- 2:30Speaker 1: of stretch things and take some risks and stuff. And
- 2:32Speaker 1: we've got some new band members as well, so their
- 2:34Speaker 1: inputs obviously changed the way things are a little bit
- 2:36Speaker 1: as well.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah, and I love.
- 2:38Speaker 2: The album title too, bro like sink Your Teeth In.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Like everything about it is so Australian and there's not
- 2:43Speaker 2: even someone the album called sink your teeth In. I
- 2:46Speaker 2: fucking love it.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, Look, I think we all kind of like.
- 2:52Speaker 1: The you know, the album having its own name, because
- 2:55Speaker 1: I mean, I'm old school. I like albums as a
- 2:57Speaker 1: complete package. I don't necessarily just eat single single single.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I don't like it when people put their biggest single
- 3:02Speaker 1: first and in the second one second and it all
- 3:04Speaker 1: just kind.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Of trails off. I like it to flow.
- 3:06Speaker 1: We put a lot of effort into the kind of
- 3:09Speaker 1: the the track listing that we do. There's a big
- 3:12Speaker 1: thought process to make it all make sense. And I
- 3:14Speaker 1: mean some of the songs on this album, especially on
- 3:16Speaker 1: the last one, are what they are because of where
- 3:19Speaker 1: they sit in the track listing. It gave them extra life.
- 3:24Speaker 1: So yeah, we'd sink your Teeth in. It's just the
- 3:26Speaker 1: name of the whole package. I mean, out of two
- 3:27Speaker 1: EPs and two albums, I think the first AP is
- 3:30Speaker 1: the only thing that actually had a title track, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: the it's fundly enough the second EP, the song that
- 3:39Speaker 1: is named after it. We actually afterwards decided to name
- 3:42Speaker 1: a song two is Up and that's on the first album.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just the name of the complex.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Sink Your Teething was almost the name of the first UP,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and then our manager at the time suggested straight up
- 3:53Speaker 1: no Chaser, and we went, no, we're just going to
- 3:55Speaker 1: go with no Chaser.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Actually we'll keep Yeah, we'll keep Seek your.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Teething because it's a it's a cool name and yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: look i'm a wildlife guy out our lead guitarist, Surreal
- 4:08Speaker 1: Animal not as well. So the idea of having a
- 4:10Speaker 1: big great white sharks mark on the front of it
- 4:12Speaker 1: was yeah, it's too tempting.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, now, we touched on this before made. But there's
- 4:16Speaker 2: eight songs on there, plus the bonus track All Up.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You've released six of them, man, and that's about seventy
- 4:21Speaker 2: five eighty percent of the album released as singles, So
- 4:24Speaker 2: there's an indication of how wrong the songs are.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, we are. We knew if we were going to
- 4:30Speaker 3: pull this off.
- 4:31Speaker 1: The original plan was to release four singles and then
- 4:33Speaker 1: do an eight song We were also planning on doing
- 4:36Speaker 1: that over about an eight month period. Now it's been
- 4:38Speaker 1: two and a half years because life.
- 4:43Speaker 3: We yeah, we knew we wanted to release a bunch
- 4:46Speaker 3: of singles off of it.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Obviously, the market now on the way the world works,
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's single single, single stream streams trend. You need numbers
- 4:53Speaker 1: in all the right places. So we knew that every
- 4:57Speaker 1: song had to be single worthy. And I mean half
- 5:01Speaker 1: the band's Italian, so we were going to argue about
- 5:03Speaker 1: everything anyway, but we make sure that on one of them,
- 5:07Speaker 1: so I can say that, but we we wanted to
- 5:10Speaker 1: make sure and look out of the out of their
- 5:13Speaker 1: main eight songs, there was I would say two that
- 5:17Speaker 1: we were a little concerned about and we're like, I
- 5:19Speaker 1: don't really know if this is going to be a single.
- 5:21Speaker 1: This is something's kind of missing. And then obviously the
- 5:24Speaker 1: last song end of the day, the big Gospel one.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It's a six minute song that's pretty hard to do
- 5:28Speaker 1: as a single. Now literally twice the link.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Of what people are expecting and what the algorithm's bringing
- 5:34Speaker 3: sick of saying that word.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Will allow, so we we really put over and funnily
- 5:42Speaker 1: enoughter two that we were a little concerned about. When
- 5:46Speaker 1: it got to the end of mixing and mastering, and
- 5:48Speaker 1: when they got their place on the album, all of
- 5:50Speaker 1: a sudden, they just took a step into their own
- 5:53Speaker 1: and we went by. Then they were well one of
- 5:55Speaker 1: them was already a single, and we were like, no,
- 5:58Speaker 1: this has worked. And finally enough songs that we were
- 6:01Speaker 1: a little concerned about people have told us are their
- 6:03Speaker 1: favorites on the album. So you never know, we're lucky
- 6:06Speaker 1: that our fan base, for the most part. First of all,
- 6:09Speaker 1: they're into new rock, so that's already half the battle done.
- 6:12Speaker 3: But then they like the variety they don't. You know,
- 6:16Speaker 3: Second albums are scary.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Second album syndrome is a real thing, and you sit
- 6:20Speaker 1: there going if we're too far away from what we
- 6:22Speaker 1: did last time. People will go, oh, they're a one
- 6:24Speaker 1: trick pony. They did one album, that's it, they can't
- 6:26Speaker 1: do it again. And then if you sound exactly the same,
- 6:28Speaker 1: they go, oh, they're a one trick pony.
- 6:30Speaker 3: They're going to release the same thing. So if we're
- 6:33Speaker 3: going to be a one trick pony, we're going to
- 6:35Speaker 3: do whatever we frigging want.
- 6:36Speaker 1: That's exactly what we did, and I think I think
- 6:40Speaker 1: some of the songs sound like they could have been
- 6:42Speaker 1: on our first album.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Some of them sound like they needed to be that
- 6:45Speaker 3: next step.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So yeah, we're proud that every one of those songs
- 6:50Speaker 1: could have been a single. I mean, the six minute
- 6:52Speaker 1: Gospel Epic could have been a single in the late eighties.
- 6:54Speaker 3: The most people would have loved it absolutely well until
- 6:59Speaker 3: they kind of thought about the lyrics a little bit.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But yeah, maybe.
- 7:03Speaker 2: That's it from what I've read and what I've been
- 7:07Speaker 2: told of the word on the street, bros, you guys
- 7:09Speaker 2: are fucking awesome lives. So run us through a typical
- 7:12Speaker 2: of Blaze live show and why they're so good.
- 7:17Speaker 3: We're all nuts.
- 7:19Speaker 1: It's that we have always put a lot of effort
- 7:24Speaker 1: into our live show. We are a live band like
- 7:27Speaker 1: the recording's great, shooting videos is up. It's all fun,
- 7:30Speaker 1: but we come alive on stage and that's because we
- 7:33Speaker 1: all love each other and we're all idiots, so we're
- 7:36Speaker 1: not We take our music seriously and what we do
- 7:41Speaker 1: we want to do well. But ourselves we bag each
- 7:46Speaker 1: other out constantly. Me and the singer are usually making
- 7:48Speaker 1: front of each other on stage during the shows.
- 7:52Speaker 3: It's a little bit, a little bit.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Still panther esc sometimes, but we want it to be fun.
- 7:58Speaker 1: There's plenty of bands that are ware and you're there
- 8:00Speaker 1: and the edge of the stage is this divide, and
- 8:02Speaker 1: you sit there and you look at how cool we are.
- 8:04Speaker 1: We want everybody involved, and so you know, one of
- 8:08Speaker 1: the first few songs of most sets is a song
- 8:10Speaker 1: of ours called Where's My Drink where we introduced the
- 8:12Speaker 1: band and we pour whiskey into each other's mouth, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: then the front as it goes into a band break,
- 8:17Speaker 1: the front row all get a couple of free shots
- 8:19Speaker 1: of sailor Jerry much of the time, and ninety eight
- 8:23Speaker 1: percent of venues haven't complained about it. We yeah, we've
- 8:30Speaker 1: had in moments, but yeah, it's we want everybody involved.
- 8:35Speaker 1: At our launch, for the first time ever, we played
- 8:38Speaker 1: a song off the new I'm called Siren's Court, which
- 8:40Speaker 1: is probably the heaviest song we've ever written. And there's
- 8:43Speaker 1: a big section in the middle where we have very
- 8:46Speaker 1: much paid homage to the Jaws theme and it's very
- 8:51Speaker 1: much about like almost the Greek mythology, the.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Siren calling it to your death, that kind of thing.
- 8:56Speaker 1: And then it goes into this Jaws thing, and we
- 8:57Speaker 1: launched five full size, like right on inflatable sharks into
- 9:03Speaker 1: the audience. Yeah, now, a lot of people copped a
- 9:06Speaker 1: six foot long shark to the head, but to we
- 9:10Speaker 1: know where two of them are out of the five.
- 9:12Speaker 3: The rest of them have gone off into the world
- 9:16Speaker 3: to seek their fortune. And that's fine. Our five dollars
- 9:20Speaker 3: eaching came out. No one was expecting them back, man.
- 9:22Speaker 1: But we want we want those moments, you know, we
- 9:25Speaker 1: even got the chance we did them.
- 9:28Speaker 3: We often we do a little acoustic section.
- 9:30Speaker 1: In our bigger hometown shows where we'll do a cover
- 9:33Speaker 1: of Tribute or something like that, and then we'll do
- 9:36Speaker 1: the song that I sing off the first of the
- 9:38Speaker 1: bottom of My bottle.
- 9:39Speaker 3: And this time the cover.
- 9:40Speaker 1: We decided to go, hey, let's let's do something we
- 9:43Speaker 1: all love, and so we did Cry and Shame by
- 9:45Speaker 1: Diesel Wow. Well back when it was Johnny Diesel and
- 9:48Speaker 1: the injectors, and I came forward with an acoustic and
- 9:50Speaker 1: rhythm guitarist Might started off singing and playing it.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I jumped in on acoustic.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Our lead guitarist Ben ran out with a saxophone and
- 9:57Speaker 1: started doing the saxophone solo. I got seeing the third verse.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I think Danny sung the second one. Everybody, everywhere you
- 10:04Speaker 1: looked on the stage, something different was happening. Our Basis
- 10:07Speaker 1: Paris was laughing their ass off because they thought Ben
- 10:09Speaker 1: playing the saxophone was the funniest thing in the world.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Four out of five members of this band had played
- 10:15Speaker 1: saxophone at some point, a lot of us not since
- 10:17Speaker 1: high school.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I remember.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We've got videos of it that I've got to post
- 10:21Speaker 1: because it's just it was just all of us having fun,
- 10:25Speaker 1: bouncing off each other and the crowd. We want to
- 10:28Speaker 1: draw the crowd in with that, so whenever we if
- 10:31Speaker 1: we can get in front of the crowd, we can win.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Them, doesn't matter what it is.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I'm really proud of that because we go to the
- 10:36Speaker 1: next level to try and get everybody involved.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Fucky.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Now, speaking of Libro, you're just about to kick off
- 10:43Speaker 2: the European and UK twour that starts in Belgium on
- 10:45Speaker 2: the twenty eighth August, travels through France the UK winds
- 10:49Speaker 2: up in Germany on September twentieth.
- 10:51Speaker 3: For decent run.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Bro, you got enough underwear, I might be our the
- 10:56Speaker 1: best and want us to pick up a few actions.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I definitely, I definitely, and I have enough socks, so
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to do it, especially for me because
- 11:05Speaker 1: I got to bring extras because all the drummond and
- 11:07Speaker 1: the double kicking, I can rip through the bloody things
- 11:09Speaker 1: pretty quick. Yeah, I've literally I have to start packing.
- 11:15Speaker 1: We are leaving in Monday night is when me and
- 11:19Speaker 1: Danny the singer leaving. The rest of them are leaving
- 11:21Speaker 1: over the weekend on different flights. And yeah, I've got
- 11:25Speaker 1: to get that leopard print suitcase down and see how
- 11:27Speaker 1: many peirs andes I can fit.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We're five of them on the plane. Braids just got
- 11:32Speaker 2: some reserves.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll be nice and comfy. I'll be sitting this
- 11:35Speaker 3: high off the chair. What are you?
- 11:40Speaker 2: What are you expecting from the crowds over there, mate,
- 11:42Speaker 2: Like you know what Australian crowds are like. But what
- 11:44Speaker 2: about over there, like you do you look into it
- 11:46Speaker 2: and research what to expect, or do you go over
- 11:48Speaker 2: there cold and take it as a cap Well, it's.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Kind of fifty to fifty because we went there at
- 11:53Speaker 1: the end of twenty nineteen and we did a lot
- 11:55Speaker 1: of UK shows and we did a lot of Spain
- 11:57Speaker 1: based shows as well.
- 11:59Speaker 3: So even though this time we're going back and last.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Time we did two festivals in the UK we did
- 12:03Speaker 1: Hard Rock Hall and then we did and we went
- 12:06Speaker 1: to Storm up in Scotland. And this time we're doing
- 12:09Speaker 1: five festivals, two in the UK, three in Germany.
- 12:13Speaker 3: But we're not playing We've never played.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Germany before, we've never played Belgium or France, and the
- 12:20Speaker 1: places in the UK that we're playing we've never played
- 12:22Speaker 1: those places either.
- 12:23Speaker 3: So even though we've got a rough idea, we're still
- 12:25Speaker 3: going in cold.
- 12:27Speaker 1: But the UK fans love us because Australian bands, I
- 12:33Speaker 1: think it's kind of respected over there. Australian bands work hard.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Like if we play, you know, if we want to
- 12:40Speaker 1: do a tour, we're doing Adelaide.
- 12:42Speaker 3: We're doing Sydney.
- 12:43Speaker 1: That's eighty hours of drive and each way in the UK,
- 12:48Speaker 1: they drive any more than forty five minutes, they start
- 12:50Speaker 1: booking overnight accommodation. So what we when we found out
- 12:54Speaker 1: on this tour most of the dates were set up,
- 12:56Speaker 1: we're only going to have to drive kind of two
- 12:57Speaker 1: to four hours most days.
- 12:58Speaker 3: We were like, oh my god, that's only like to Aubrey.
- 13:02Speaker 1: This is cruzy, whereas last time we were doing seven
- 13:06Speaker 1: to nine hours a day going around Spain because we
- 13:08Speaker 1: borrowed the van from Massive back when they were around
- 13:11Speaker 1: in that van didn't make it didn't make.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Triple digits on the speed I made. It was flagged
- 13:16Speaker 3: pretty hard.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that van was the sixth member of the band
- 13:20Speaker 1: and it was the one we all wanted to kill.
- 13:22Speaker 3: But they lent it to us for free. We can't complain.
- 13:26Speaker 1: But yeah, like we know that when we get they
- 13:30Speaker 1: know that we work hard to get your head even
- 13:34Speaker 1: slightly above the crowd in Australia, you gotta work, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: Australian crowds, more than anyone else, will test you if
- 13:41Speaker 1: you're not genuine.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Bussie fans know it's straight away over there there's.
- 13:48Speaker 1: So many bands and touring is so I don't want
- 13:51Speaker 1: to say more simple, but for a lot of bands,
- 13:54Speaker 1: it's more accessible and there is a kind of ladder
- 13:58Speaker 1: that you can work up and you start and as
- 14:00Speaker 1: long as you can prove yourself and you've got something
- 14:02Speaker 1: important that you can say and you can stand out,
- 14:05Speaker 1: you can work your way up. And beans that started
- 14:07Speaker 1: around the same time we did are now doing big
- 14:10Speaker 1: headlining international tours. Bands like Massive Wagons and the New
- 14:15Speaker 1: Roses and the Chris Barriss Band and all those guys
- 14:17Speaker 1: that are you know, headlining festivals and stuff like that.
- 14:21Speaker 3: It's more accessible to them. In Australia, all the rungs
- 14:24Speaker 3: in the middle of that ladder have been ripped out.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I'm sure you're more than a way. You're either heritage
- 14:28Speaker 1: ack or you're busting in your ass towards the bottom
- 14:31Speaker 1: of the US. So we are used to having to
- 14:34Speaker 1: prove ourselves, and you prove yourself by being good and
- 14:38Speaker 1: doing something different and making your fans feel special. And
- 14:40Speaker 1: we've been so focused on that they're getting over there again.
- 14:44Speaker 3: If we can get in front of those crowds, we
- 14:46Speaker 3: win them.
- 14:46Speaker 1: When we did those festivals, we would be getting told
- 14:50Speaker 1: were the find of the festival on every review that
- 14:54Speaker 1: we found.
- 14:54Speaker 3: With the hard Rock Hell One.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We managed to be the last band slotted on because
- 14:58Speaker 1: someone last minute pulled out while Booker was ligning it
- 15:01Speaker 1: all up, and we ended up being on it.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Like it was amazing.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It was like four or five o'clock on the Saturday
- 15:06Speaker 1: night of a four day festival, so we played to
- 15:09Speaker 1: a packed main room, main stage and we went out
- 15:12Speaker 1: there and exploded.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I would's probably one of the best shows with it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: We were tight, someone alway stuff something up, but this
- 15:17Speaker 1: show was we were on and at the end of
- 15:21Speaker 1: it we were getting.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Pulled over for photos. All the reviews were saying, who
- 15:24Speaker 3: the hell are these Aussies.
- 15:25Speaker 1: It also helps they've heard that many bands over there
- 15:28Speaker 1: from Australia that they go ACDC or they're trying to
- 15:33Speaker 1: be a CC or they're trying to be Airborne, and
- 15:36Speaker 1: now we have some of those songs.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Definitely. I mean I was an ac AC kid, That's
- 15:41Speaker 3: how I got into the rock.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But we do different stuff and so when they go,
- 15:45Speaker 1: oh they're Australian and they're not part of.
- 15:48Speaker 3: That mold yea, that helps as well.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So we can win those crowds when we're standing in
- 15:55Speaker 1: front of them or when they're standing in front of us,
- 15:57Speaker 1: and so as long as we can get in front
- 15:58Speaker 1: of them, we're going to be fine back.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and you also after that, you're coming home to
- 16:02Speaker 2: do a bit of an Australians too. I believe I
- 16:04Speaker 2: couldn't find any dates.
- 16:05Speaker 1: But yeah, look, we haven't fully announced it all yet.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It's kind of hovering in the bene picture on our Facebook.
- 16:12Speaker 1: But we're coming back again. We're coming back in dribs
- 16:14Speaker 1: and drugs. Because some people want to go off on
- 16:15Speaker 1: a little euro trip afterwards, and I mean flying for
- 16:18Speaker 1: twenty seven hours, they might as well enjoy it.
- 16:20Speaker 3: But we get back.
- 16:21Speaker 1: I think the last two of them get back on
- 16:23Speaker 1: the ninth and tenth of October, and then on the
- 16:25Speaker 1: eleventh we're driving to Adelaide to play the rock Hard Festival.
- 16:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I think that it is.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Look Phill and Tish who are organizing it, two of
- 16:35Speaker 1: the best supporters of rock and heavy music in Australia
- 16:39Speaker 1: as far as I'm concerned.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I love them both dearly.
- 16:41Speaker 1: And when we got to be on that festival and
- 16:45Speaker 1: we're up the pointing end, of that line up playing
- 16:46Speaker 1: with the Poor and Avalanche and heaps of amazing Adelaide
- 16:50Speaker 1: bands and some more Malbourne bands. We were stoked so
- 16:54Speaker 1: straight over there to do that. We're playing a show
- 16:56Speaker 1: at the Chuck Trailers in Sydney. We're doing a couple
- 17:02Speaker 1: of Melbourne shows too, which would be cool. We're going
- 17:04Speaker 1: back to the lead Beat to play White Widows album
- 17:06Speaker 1: rereleased party thing that'll be. That's pretty soon after we
- 17:10Speaker 1: get back as well, where I don't know if he's
- 17:13Speaker 1: a Nancy yet, but we're playing Della Cama's big album
- 17:15Speaker 1: launch as well at the end of November, and there's
- 17:19Speaker 1: a few others. We're going back to Geelong. I've been
- 17:21Speaker 1: trying to go back to Geelong for.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Eight years, so getting back.
- 17:25Speaker 1: There's some great guys down there, Micro Law and the
- 17:27Speaker 1: team getting rock bands back to Geelong and give them
- 17:30Speaker 1: an a venue and where I love touring Australia. We're not
- 17:34Speaker 1: going to be able to go to places like Brisbane
- 17:36Speaker 1: and perthan Tasi just yet because we're just about ready
- 17:39Speaker 1: to start selling Organs for this Europe to her.
- 17:41Speaker 3: But the second the second the second week can afford
- 17:44Speaker 3: to get on a plane or that that boat.
- 17:47Speaker 1: We'll be back and doing more Australian stuff and hopefully
- 17:50Speaker 1: in the new year we'll get to those places as
- 17:53Speaker 1: well as pick up some nicer supports for some bigger
- 17:57Speaker 1: acts as well.
- 17:57Speaker 3: It'd be great nice.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Now finally you go brow. I've got a new segment
- 18:01Speaker 2: I've started called photo Bombs, So basically I've thrown your
- 18:04Speaker 2: social media before we got a chat.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I've found a few photos.
- 18:07Speaker 2: A little bit more about this one here, like this,
- 18:13Speaker 2: what looks like a cool venue.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Man looks more like a man cave that it does
- 18:17Speaker 3: a venue.
- 18:18Speaker 1: That venue, if that's the one I think it was.
- 18:21Speaker 1: That's in Spain. We played this little thing. It was
- 18:24Speaker 1: called Lostrato Fest or something like that. It was in
- 18:27Speaker 1: this tiny little.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Town, Ah, and it went mental.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The stage was so small that the guitar cabs had
- 18:37Speaker 1: to be set up pointing sideways across the stage because
- 18:40Speaker 1: I couldn't get behind the kit if they were facing
- 18:42Speaker 1: the front.
- 18:43Speaker 3: We played with four other bands. We went on. The
- 18:46Speaker 3: place was packed, ah and it just went mental. I
- 18:51Speaker 3: put Spanish fans or something else.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah, right, we I got on stage, I put down
- 18:57Speaker 1: the set list.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I put a set list on my drum kit.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I turned around and stolen the setlist from the front
- 19:01Speaker 1: of the stage. Well, I hope you guys like this
- 19:06Speaker 1: because you've committed early.
- 19:08Speaker 3: But yeah, we went off. They loved it.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Ben jumped off and jumped on the bar because all
- 19:13Speaker 1: five of us on the stage was especially back there
- 19:15Speaker 1: on our basis was six foot seven when he was
- 19:17Speaker 1: swinging around that Duff McKagan base.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It was.
- 19:21Speaker 1: If it wasn't the fact that they singers about four
- 19:23Speaker 1: four two, it would have literally been at risk to
- 19:25Speaker 1: his out. So yeah, Ben jumping up and going well, yeah,
- 19:30Speaker 1: high energy all the way.
- 19:31Speaker 3: So that venue was see they had.
- 19:34Speaker 1: That was the big they had, like the tank beer
- 19:36Speaker 1: and stuff and all the big pipes coming down.
- 19:38Speaker 3: The room look cool and that that venue too.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I made myself look like an absolute dick because throughout
- 19:44Speaker 1: the Spanish dates, Danny would be like Mango has been
- 19:47Speaker 1: learning Spanish, and they'd all go yeah, and he the
- 19:50Speaker 1: black could come to me and the only thing I
- 19:52Speaker 1: could say was don dies de la biblio or decha
- 19:55Speaker 1: which is where is the library?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Right? And everywhere in all the Spanish loved it. They
- 20:02Speaker 3: laughed at asses off. In this venue. They all turned
- 20:04Speaker 3: around and pointed, and.
- 20:08Speaker 1: At the back of the venue there was one of
- 20:10Speaker 1: those little like take a book, leave a book things
- 20:12Speaker 1: and that was the.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Town Library and I died. I was laughing so hard.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Very memorable show, everybody.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I got one more for you. Like I've heard of
- 20:26Speaker 2: people warming up their voice before before they go on stage,
- 20:29Speaker 2: but never from a baba.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah okay, So that that was hilarious. We played a
- 20:39Speaker 1: festival that was on a couple of years ago called
- 20:42Speaker 1: Mochella yep, where it was Coachella and Mowey and we
- 20:49Speaker 1: despite we were one of the headliner, think with us
- 20:51Speaker 1: Dead City Ruins and Black Aces, who we've known for
- 20:55Speaker 1: years and years.
- 20:55Speaker 3: One of our first real gigs ever was with the
- 20:57Speaker 3: Black Aces back in White twelve twenty thirteen or something,
- 21:04Speaker 3: and maybe earlier. But yeah, we got this big room.
- 21:08Speaker 3: For some reason, we.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Managed to get the big room at the Mui Hotel
- 21:11Speaker 1: and had this big spa ba wow, and we were
- 21:13Speaker 1: ready to party. So I just jumped in and said,
- 21:14Speaker 1: oh you get a photo. I just grabbed that and
- 21:16Speaker 1: started screaming, and we sent that to all the other
- 21:19Speaker 1: bands and.
- 21:19Speaker 3: They were like, what have you got a spa? So
- 21:24Speaker 3: the later in the evening.
- 21:26Speaker 1: The plan was to take the party back to that
- 21:27Speaker 1: but then after the gig was over, the venue just
- 21:31Speaker 1: pulled out Eski's full of beers and we all just
- 21:34Speaker 1: sat there and we drank every other band and half
- 21:37Speaker 1: the staff out of that party. And I almost fell
- 21:40Speaker 1: asleep in that tar about three o'clock in the morning.
- 21:43Speaker 2: It's going through all those photos looking for these, mate.
- 21:46Speaker 2: The common denominator in all of them was alcohol. So
- 21:48Speaker 2: you guys must like a drink.
- 21:50Speaker 1: We fostered an image, yeah, we for a long while. Yeah,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it was we do like a beer. We like hanging
- 21:57Speaker 1: out having a beer, and you know, when we're in
- 21:59Speaker 1: our mid to late twenties, that was what it was
- 22:01Speaker 1: all about for It's getting out, having beers, having fun
- 22:04Speaker 1: with people.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Not a little a little bit older, but we still
- 22:06Speaker 3: enjoy beer or whiskey.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Thanks long, sure right, may Gael, Thanks for your time,
- 22:15Speaker 2: Roby in the present chat and sink your teeth in
- 22:16Speaker 2: and out now and fucking cracker of an album Bright,
- 22:19Speaker 2: so good luck with that, good luck in Europe and
- 22:20Speaker 2: hope play I'll see you down at rockyd.
- 22:22Speaker 3: No say that man, thanks so much, having.
- 22:49Speaker 1: But to this ut lien you got up my boots,
- 22:53Speaker 1: sir Mo won up and you're ready to go.
- 23:00Speaker 3: It's a game. Don't tell your cheek. It's only talking
- 23:04Speaker 3: to you with me for better role and that with it.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I'm playing my fine. I forgot I came to try
