- 1:34Speaker 2: I do Zelmons too.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I wake up. Do I take Selmons before I pee?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Or I pee first?
- 1:40Speaker 2: I pee first and then I take Zelman's. I'm surprised
- 1:43Speaker 2: you don't do it during your time. Yeah, what do
- 1:47Speaker 2: you mean?
- 1:49Speaker 4: Multitas?
- 1:50Speaker 1: As I said earlier, at the top of every hour,
- 1:53Speaker 1: and we're going to be doing this all day. I
- 1:56Speaker 1: think Michelle sets this up is we talk about well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I give you the announcement or someone tells you what
- 2:02Speaker 1: our totals are. So at the seven o'clock hour, at
- 2:05Speaker 1: the end of the first hour of the show, we
- 2:07Speaker 1: were at thirty thousand dollars and six thousand pounds give
- 2:10Speaker 1: or take of pasta and sauce.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Which is ahead of last year.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Okay, Now, in the hour that we have been on
- 2:19Speaker 1: the air since during the seven o'clock hour, the total
- 2:24Speaker 1: is now one hundred thousand dollars saw and eleven thousand
- 2:30Speaker 1: pounds and some change. You have pasta and sauce. Last
- 2:34Speaker 1: year we were able to raise one point three million
- 2:38Speaker 1: dollars for Katerina's Club.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Oh, I have gone and Neil Amy, you'll appreciate this.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I have met DJs and hosts from other stations, I
- 2:47Speaker 1: mean major market stations.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Oh, let me tell you about our charity.
- 2:50Speaker 1: We raised eighty thousand dollars, we raised sixty thousand, We
- 2:54Speaker 1: raised over one hundred thousand dollars ago. How about one
- 2:56Speaker 1: point three million dollars for a local station.
- 3:01Speaker 2: It stuns them.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I love when you charity shame. One of my favorite
- 3:06Speaker 3: things during this time of giving.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it's such a beautiful thing.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, only Handle.
- 3:11Speaker 3: It's the only time Handle ever wants to pull out
- 3:13Speaker 3: a ruler. Let me assure you of that.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Look at how much we raise, you know, KFI listeners
- 3:21Speaker 5: bar I mean, there is nothing that compares to them
- 3:25Speaker 5: as far as the giving and the way they mobilize.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Well, think about this.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The most giving society in the world are Americans, and
- 3:34Speaker 1: that there's a bunch of reasons for that. We don't
- 3:36Speaker 1: have a safety net they do otherwise, But we are
- 3:38Speaker 1: in the most generous people on the planet. KFI listeners
- 3:42Speaker 1: are probably the most generous people that exist in terms
- 3:46Speaker 1: of a local market yeah, other than Bill Gates or
- 3:49Speaker 1: Warren Buffett, you know, write checks for fifty billion dollars.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So we are well.
- 3:54Speaker 4: And you know what you mentioned huge checks, which is great.
- 3:57Speaker 6: We love the big bucks, but it's I think it's
- 3:59Speaker 6: also the collective of a dollar here, five dollars there,
- 4:02Speaker 6: ten dollars there.
- 4:03Speaker 4: It's what you can afford. We know that everybody's a
- 4:05Speaker 4: little strapped, but if you can, if you can donate
- 4:08Speaker 4: a little bit, we'll take that.
- 4:09Speaker 2: That's up quickly. Yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I love the little kids, the five year old the
- 4:13Speaker 1: six year olds come with their little piggy banks and
- 4:17Speaker 1: you know coming, this is all my money, and I go.
- 4:19Speaker 2: You're gonna starve, you stupid idiot. Don't get that.
- 4:23Speaker 1: That's okay, daddy?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Is that the Devil? Yes, honey, you keep your money. Okay,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you're gonna need it at not.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The department stoarege devil. That's the real one, not just
- 4:36Speaker 3: one of his helpers.
- 4:37Speaker 2: All right, we're gonna come back.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Oh I have the auction items are terrific this year,
- 4:43Speaker 1: and there's so much fun and these raise a pile
- 4:46Speaker 1: of money actually, so yeah, we got a lot of
- 4:49Speaker 1: stuff to talk about it, so please come on by
- 4:51Speaker 1: if you happen to be anywhere near Orange County. North
- 4:54Speaker 1: Orange County. We're in Anaheim and that's the Anaheim White
- 4:59Speaker 1: House restaurant Bruno's Place, and it's absolutely gorgeous and what
- 5:03Speaker 1: a destination restaurant without the destination prices. By the way,
- 5:06Speaker 1: the kind of food that he has is actually it's
- 5:11Speaker 1: as good as those places you charge one hundred and
- 5:13Speaker 1: fifty dollars ahead kind of place, and here it's only
- 5:15Speaker 1: one hundred and forty dollars ahead.
- 5:17Speaker 2: That's not true. But we're going to come back.
- 5:20Speaker 3: And it's great during the holidays. I love this place
- 5:22Speaker 3: during the holidays.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it super dressed up and feels festive. Festive that's
- 5:29Speaker 1: the word. I don't know the holidays, I don't know.
- 5:32Speaker 1: KFI is here in Anaheim, which we do every year
- 5:36Speaker 1: for pastathon.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You come on buy.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I have some bagels, coffee, Coachella, cot Shella, Colli val Yeah, rally.
- 5:46Speaker 2: So the guys Falley Valley Coffee are here. Coachella, Coachella, yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 2: Coachella and great coffee.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Bagels of course are Cure silent, and we have a
- 5:58Speaker 1: Zelman's minty Mouth. They're here with free samples and introducing
- 6:02Speaker 1: their new Expeerimid flavor.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Also, lindsay, would you do me a favorite?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Hunt? Uh is grab some of those bagels? Oh you
- 6:10Speaker 1: already got them? Okay, thank you?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Seriously you're gonna hell? Yes, those are great bagels. What
- 6:16Speaker 2: I'm not gonna take them home?
- 6:18Speaker 7: Wow?
- 6:18Speaker 2: Thanks for breaking the stereotype. Yeah, I forgot say.
- 6:22Speaker 3: These are great bagels and the chairs are nice. Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 3: throw a couple in the back of the car.
- 6:27Speaker 1: If you can get a dozen free bagels, you go
- 6:30Speaker 1: for it, all right.
- 6:31Speaker 3: So I do want to give a huge thanks to
- 6:35Speaker 3: the folks they gave accommodations to the crew.
- 6:38Speaker 2: This takes a lot of work here.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Obviously the KFI pastathon through loved their accommodations at the
- 6:45Speaker 3: newly transformed Hilton Anaheim. So discover all the new guest
- 6:50Speaker 3: rooms modern California. Look, you can relax at the rooftop
- 6:54Speaker 3: pool deck and the Salt.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Salt Flour poolside. Is that a little eatery there? Did
- 7:03Speaker 2: you eat? Well?
- 7:04Speaker 4: I didn't because that must be down on the ground level.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Oh, or dine at the new Poppies restaurant There didnt.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Have a Poppy's burger last night? It was great and
- 7:14Speaker 6: their French fries are to die for.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Oh well, don't die, whether it's a family's staycation or
- 7:19Speaker 3: a weekend escape. Escape, rather make your next day unforgettable.
- 7:24Speaker 3: At Hilton Anaheim Hotel dot com.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Did you have leftovers that you.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Can take with your baby? Yes, actually I have a
- 7:33Speaker 4: half a hamburger and it's in the trunk.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Okay, in the trunk, so let it sit there for
- 7:38Speaker 2: a few hours. Well, she had to, I had to
- 7:40Speaker 2: check out. I had to feed the guy. She took right,
- 7:43Speaker 2: all right, I just really quickly the door.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Obviously, we're raising money, very funny for Katerina's Club, and
- 7:53Speaker 1: it's Chef Bruno's charity providing twenty five thousand meals every
- 7:57Speaker 1: week to the kids in need. And you can donate
- 8:00Speaker 1: any time, and we obviously ask you to help us
- 8:02Speaker 1: make this happen, because without you, it doesn't happen.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And last year we raised one point.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Three million dollars and one hundred thousand pounds of Positan sauce.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Right now. We just started too this morning. One hundred
- 8:13Speaker 2: thousand dollars so.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Far and one thirteenth of the way there.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Yep, yep, we're on our way.
- 8:18Speaker 1: We'll get there and real quickly you can go to
- 8:20Speaker 1: any Smart and Final and donate there at the counter
- 8:23Speaker 1: at checkout Yamabab Resort and Casino, cash your winning ticket
- 8:28Speaker 1: in if you want to donate your change if a
- 8:31Speaker 1: winning ticket, you say yes.
- 8:33Speaker 8: Also, Wendy's is a partner of ours.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So we thank you a ton and come on out
- 8:38Speaker 1: here because we're going to be here for the entire day,
- 8:40Speaker 1: not us, not the morning crew, but everybody else. Cary
- 8:43Speaker 1: and Shannon following up. And then the items for donation.
- 8:48Speaker 1: These are always fun.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And this year somewhere.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Basically it goes year after year and they're huge, hugely successful.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Dodger Game with Dantina Sharp for example, a Dodger Game
- 8:59Speaker 1: with Gary and Shannon, an Hour to get to co.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Host an Hour with John Coebilt. Have you ever listened
- 9:07Speaker 2: to that though?
- 9:07Speaker 3: It really is no never have, wildly fascinating and entertaining
- 9:12Speaker 3: and John gets a kicked out.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's uh, it always does very very well.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And then something that has never been done, and that
- 9:21Speaker 1: is a broadcast of the Fork Report, Neil's broadcast Saturdays
- 9:26Speaker 1: two to five, and we're gonna be broadcasting live at
- 9:30Speaker 1: my house and we're gonna have a major kokathon where
- 9:34Speaker 1: we're gonna be grilling all kinds of meats, and Anaheim
- 9:38Speaker 1: white House is catering it, which of course is Santa
- 9:41Speaker 1: I'm white House. They I had my daughter's wedding here
- 9:44Speaker 1: that worked out and.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Her next one. You want to be here.
- 9:50Speaker 4: Well, the wedding was great.
- 9:52Speaker 2: The wedding was great. The wedding.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and then so anyway, it's so, what we're gonna
- 9:59Speaker 1: do at my place is we're going to broadcast the show.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Neil and I are broadcasting his show.
- 10:05Speaker 1: The Top Bidder will be invited to this broadcast. It
- 10:09Speaker 1: is a private broadcast of which we're not going to
- 10:12Speaker 1: do an event like this is going to be just
- 10:15Speaker 1: very small group of people, family and friends. I have
- 10:19Speaker 1: no friends, family, and it will be about twenty people
- 10:22Speaker 1: there and the Top Bidder will be invited to join
- 10:24Speaker 1: us for the day.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And we've never ever done that at my house. And huge,
- 10:29Speaker 2: I mean the house is not huge.
- 10:32Speaker 3: No, I think it's a lovely home. But that's a
- 10:36Speaker 3: huge thing for you to open up.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we've never done this before.
- 10:39Speaker 3: It right, you didn't let me finish to your coworkers,
- 10:42Speaker 3: that's correct. Yeah, that's very nice.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I was thrilled to be Well, we do it in
- 10:46Speaker 2: the backyard, and we have a gate.
- 10:49Speaker 1: That actually you have to the backyard. No one actually
- 10:52Speaker 1: walks through the front door. In any case, it's gonna
- 10:56Speaker 1: be a lot of fun. And Neil wrote this, you
- 10:58Speaker 1: can ride in my home elevator.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Oh yeah, your lovely wife Lindsey and I worked tirelessly
- 11:06Speaker 3: two marketing.
- 11:07Speaker 9: Maven's putting to get the copy for So you get
- 11:11Speaker 9: to ride in the elevator from ground floor to penthouse,
- 11:14Speaker 9: two story house. It's just a magazine, yes, also a
- 11:19Speaker 9: tour of my broadcast studio.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It's one room.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And then the chair that I sit on you get
- 11:26Speaker 1: to sit It's like the President's chair. You get to
- 11:28Speaker 1: sit in my broadcast chair and I sit on it
- 11:31Speaker 1: naked most of the time, and I sweat a lot
- 11:34Speaker 1: in the morning. So you get to sit on Let
- 11:38Speaker 1: me put it this way. I'll dry it off a
- 11:40Speaker 1: little bit. I'll take a hair I'll take a hair
- 11:42Speaker 1: dryer to it before you sit on it.
- 11:44Speaker 3: He actually has a full sheep that he sits on
- 11:48Speaker 3: just to be absorbing.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And the morning crew will be there, Amy will be
- 11:51Speaker 2: there hopefully, and that chair. None of us are going
- 11:56Speaker 2: that chair. I should bring that outside. That's currently at
- 12:01Speaker 2: eight thousand dollars.
- 12:02Speaker 3: We'd love to see that go up because it goes
- 12:04Speaker 3: to such a great cause. Co host An Hour with
- 12:07Speaker 3: John Copelt is now at thirty eight hundred. Dodgers Game
- 12:10Speaker 3: with Gary and Shannon is now at twenty eight hundred.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Dodger Game with Dian and Tina is at sixteen, so
- 12:17Speaker 3: there's still room to grow there for a great cause.
- 12:21Speaker 1: We are broadcasting obviously live from the Anaheim White House
- 12:25Speaker 1: restaurant in Anaheim, raising money, donations, etc. For the motel kids.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And here is what one of the Chef Bruno's programs
- 12:34Speaker 1: through Katarina's Club is folks who have lived in a hotel,
- 12:37Speaker 1: Families who let's say, lost their jobs and have some
- 12:42Speaker 1: financial issues and then have to move into well motels.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And I want to introduce you to Abel. Abel has
- 12:51Speaker 1: two kids, a single dad, and he is he lost
- 12:55Speaker 1: his job and it was over a year ago and
- 12:59Speaker 1: he has as well. He was in one of these
- 13:03Speaker 1: facilities and next week he moves into one of the
- 13:08Speaker 1: apartments in this case for that great so able thanks
- 13:12Speaker 1: for joining us, greatly appreciate you for having me.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Oh well, yeah, no kidding. We want your story.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So let me ask you you were how long.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Were you out of a job? Almost a year?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Okay, so you lost the place you were living in correct,
- 13:29Speaker 1: because you couldn't afford it.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I assume that's right, it right, all right?
- 13:33Speaker 1: So here you are a single dad, two kids, and
- 13:36Speaker 1: so tell us what happened from then to now.
- 13:41Speaker 7: So basically, you know the office that I was working
- 13:43Speaker 7: for at that time, because my sales rep went under,
- 13:46Speaker 7: there's a starting office and so at that point I
- 13:48Speaker 7: had saved up enough money, but I knew that I
- 13:51Speaker 7: wasn't going to be able to keep the apartment. So
- 13:54Speaker 7: once we let go of the apartment, my sailings only
- 13:57Speaker 7: went so far when it came to like a motel.
- 14:01Speaker 7: And then my family's out in Corona, and I'm trying
- 14:04Speaker 7: to work here in Orange County and so, and that
- 14:07Speaker 7: was door dashing.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Odd jobs here and there.
- 14:11Speaker 7: I did a little bit of plumbing or as a
- 14:13Speaker 7: plumbing helper, but it just didn't make enough. And sometimes
- 14:18Speaker 7: we did have to sleep in the car until I
- 14:20Speaker 7: got done with one of those jobs to get back
- 14:22Speaker 7: into the motel. And it just was in this cycle
- 14:26Speaker 7: consistently consistent cycle, and I wanted to get out of it.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And so.
- 14:32Speaker 7: I'm also I'm also part of a fellowship, and in
- 14:35Speaker 7: that fellowship, one of my friends came up to me
- 14:39Speaker 7: and we talked.
- 14:40Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 14:41Speaker 7: I tell them about my situation, and then he was
- 14:44Speaker 7: able to offer me. And this was just a couple
- 14:46Speaker 7: of months ago. He was able to offer me a
- 14:48Speaker 7: room for me and the cads. But at this point,
- 14:51Speaker 7: I'm already knowing that we need to get back into
- 14:53Speaker 7: it and back into an apartment for us. And basically
- 14:58Speaker 7: I needed to find work, and in the field of
- 15:00Speaker 7: work that I do, there's not always an opening in
- 15:03Speaker 7: the offices, so I had to literally just wait and
- 15:06Speaker 7: wait and wait until one became available. And a year
- 15:11Speaker 7: after everything that have occurred, one became available. And now
- 15:15Speaker 7: I'm connected with Katrina's club at this point, and it's honestly,
- 15:22Speaker 7: it's a complete relief off of my shoulders right now.
- 15:27Speaker 7: At the same time, I feel like our lives are
- 15:31Speaker 7: going to get back on track.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, clearly.
- 15:34Speaker 1: And it's how did you connect with Katerina's club?
- 15:38Speaker 2: We were told about it, so I'm going to approach you.
- 15:40Speaker 2: How was that connection.
- 15:43Speaker 7: The gentleman who offered us a room to stay in
- 15:47Speaker 7: and came he works at an organization that.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Is affiliated or works with these types.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Of organizations, and so he handed me Katrina's club's number,
- 15:58Speaker 7: and that's how I got ahold of them. And I
- 16:01Speaker 7: want to honestly say, like they were. I was surprised
- 16:04Speaker 7: on how quick everything the process was. Like I was
- 16:10Speaker 7: just in awe, like wow, I'm already approved, I'm okay,
- 16:13Speaker 7: now I find a place, and now everything is just
- 16:16Speaker 7: coming together and it just seems like a blink of
- 16:19Speaker 7: an eye.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, even by the way, even working and so you
- 16:22Speaker 1: start working, I mean in an apartment today, first last security.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I mean, it's almost impossible for someone to come up
- 16:29Speaker 1: with that kind of money. It's huge, huge dollars. And
- 16:33Speaker 1: there you go. You're gonna be an apartment with your kids.
- 16:35Speaker 1: How old are your kids?
- 16:37Speaker 7: My son, he's fifteen and my baby girls she's nine,
- 16:43Speaker 7: she's nine year old.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Your daughter, Yeah, let me tell you, you're gonna be
- 16:47Speaker 1: very sorry you have a daughter.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But that we'll do that. We'll do that show in
- 16:53Speaker 2: about three four years. Abel.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing that story, because it's, uh, you know,
- 16:58Speaker 1: this is what kind Aerna's Club does, and that you're
- 17:02Speaker 1: clearly a poster child or poster man as two hundred
- 17:06Speaker 1: other families are raising money for Katerina's Club.
- 17:10Speaker 3: But what a testament to the system and the way
- 17:13Speaker 3: they're running things. Able to hear that that it turned
- 17:17Speaker 3: around that quick, quickly relief.
- 17:19Speaker 1: If Able had gone to the government, able your daughter
- 17:24Speaker 1: would have been through three marriages, four kids and already
- 17:27Speaker 1: on Social Security if you.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Had gotten through, and they'd be starting the paperwork. That's correct. Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 2: The other thing is really.
- 17:32Speaker 6: Cool about it is the success rate that Silvanah was
- 17:35Speaker 6: telling me early, like everybody that they've placed, everybody still
- 17:38Speaker 6: in a home.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, because they have to pay, they have to pick
