• 2:18
Speaker 6: all about that particular path coming up a little bit
• 2:21
Speaker 6: later on the show. Pless is always your calls and
• 2:23
Speaker 6: text are welcome too, but I want to get right
• 2:25
Speaker 6: to this. The announcement came on Wednesday, toward the end
• 2:28
Speaker 6: of talk Line that Hoppy Kerchville would be stepping down
• 2:31
Speaker 6: in the new year as the host of a metro
• 2:33
Speaker 6: news talk line. He's not going away forever, still going
• 2:35
Speaker 6: to be a contributor to the airways and other forms
• 2:38
Speaker 6: of media, but just not doing the daily talk line thing.
• 2:41
Speaker 6: The dean of West Virginia Broadcasters, Hoppykachful, joins us.
• 2:44
Speaker 5: Now, good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
• 2:47
Speaker 7: Good morning, Thanks for having me. I appreciate it.
• 2:49
Speaker 6: Now I'm going to keep it long because I know
• 2:51
Speaker 6: you have. You still got your show to prepare for.
• 2:53
Speaker 6: You still got a lot of work to do, and
• 2:55
Speaker 6: I'm going to preview your show as I always do
• 2:56
Speaker 6: every day. But you said on the show a couple
• 2:59
Speaker 6: of days ago that you thought it may be the
• 3:02
Speaker 6: time to make the decision.
• 3:03
Speaker 5: How did you arrive at that decision, sir.
• 3:05
Speaker 7: Well, that's a great question. That is the existential question, Dave,
• 3:10
Speaker 7: and I've been thinking about it for a while. I'll
• 3:13
Speaker 7: give you a couple of bullet points on that. Number
• 3:16
Speaker 7: one is that I'm going to be seventy in February.
• 3:18
Speaker 7: You know, I just checked. You know, the average lifespan
• 3:21
Speaker 7: for a male in this country is seventy five.
• 3:26
Speaker 5: I didn't want to know that, but thank you.
• 3:28
Speaker 7: Yeah. Well, not to be morbid about it, but I
• 3:31
Speaker 7: mean think about it. So there is something that Joe
• 3:33
Speaker 7: Manchin calls QTL quality time left, and so I think
• 3:37
Speaker 7: about that. One of my closest friends died in the
• 3:41
Speaker 7: last year from cancer, and I have no current health
• 3:44
Speaker 7: issues of any substans, but you do think about those things.
• 3:47
Speaker 7: And I didn't want it to be where, well where's
• 3:50
Speaker 7: Hoppy today? Well he got sick or something happened, and
• 3:55
Speaker 7: I didn't want to I wanted to have some of
• 3:58
Speaker 7: that time for myself and my family. That was the
• 4:02
Speaker 7: biggest thing in this. There are a couple other reasons too,
• 4:04
Speaker 7: is that it's a good time for Dave and for TJ.
• 4:07
Speaker 7: Meadows to step in and take over. They are anxious
• 4:12
Speaker 7: to do that. They will continue to cover closely the
• 4:16
Speaker 7: issues in West Virginia like I have done, like you do,
• 4:19
  Speaker 7: and they're younger, they're ready to go, so it's a
• 4:22
Speaker 7: good time for them, good time for the company. And
• 4:25
Speaker 7: then it just kind of feels right. I don't think
• 4:28
Speaker 7: it's definitive, like, oh yeah, this is absolutely the right thing,
• 4:30
Speaker 7: and I'm going to count down to days. It's not
• 4:32
Speaker 7: that at all. It just kind of feels right. I
• 4:35
Speaker 7: know I'm going to miss it tremendously because I've really
• 4:38
Speaker 7: really enjoyed it. But for those and other reasons, it
• 4:41
Speaker 7: just feels like it's time Tad again with Hoppy Kerchival.
• 4:44
Speaker 6: What was it that made you want to go into
• 4:47
Speaker 6: this crazy business to begin with? No, not talking about
• 4:50
Speaker 6: talk line, I'm talking about just radio in general. What
• 4:53
Speaker 6: was it that said hey, made you say, hey, I
• 4:55
Speaker 6: want to do this?
• 4:56
Speaker 7: Okay, quick story and that I grew up on a
• 5:00
Speaker 7: a dairy farm in Jefferson County and it was out
• 5:03
Speaker 7: in the country. It was kind of lonely and at
• 5:05
Speaker 7: night I had this old radio and I would listen
• 5:08
Speaker 7: to the radio and listen to those old great am
• 5:11
Speaker 7: radio stations around the country like Super CFL in Chicago
• 5:15
Speaker 7: and WKBW, and it was an era of big time
• 5:20
Speaker 7: disc jockeys, and I wanted to be a disc jockey.
• 5:22
Speaker 7: I wanted to be a radio star. And I got
• 5:25
Speaker 7: my first job as a disc jockey when I was
• 5:29
Speaker 7: like eighteen or nineteen. And the first day I went
• 5:32
Speaker 7: into work, the person I was replacing handed me a
• 5:36
Speaker 7: folder and it had some phone numbers scribbled on there.
• 5:40
Speaker 7: It said, of like Sheriff's department, here's the number, State Police,
• 5:43
Speaker 7: here's the number, prosecuting attorney. Here's the number. So what's
• 5:46
Speaker 7: this He said, Well, you're also the news director. And
• 5:49
Speaker 7: I said, what do you mean, I don't care about
• 5:50
Speaker 7: the news, And no, no, you call these people and
• 5:52
Speaker 7: you see if anything happened. And I okay, So I
• 5:56
Speaker 7: did that, and I got interested. I thought this is interesting.
• 5:59
Speaker 7: You know, the songs are just the same over and obelver,
• 6:01
Speaker 7: but the news changes, and it's interesting. So I got
• 6:04
Speaker 7: interested in news. I went to WV went to the
• 6:07
Speaker 7: journalism school, got a job at WAJR. But that's how
• 6:11
Speaker 7: it all started? I wanted to I had this something
• 6:13
Speaker 7: struck me about radio, and then it, by accident sort
• 6:16
Speaker 7: of transitioned into news and into talk.
• 6:19
Speaker 6: Give us the brief history of talk Line. How did
• 6:22
Speaker 6: this show come to be? And it's gone through different
• 6:26
Speaker 6: phases because I can remember putting on Talkline on the
• 6:29
Speaker 6: air years and years and years ago in logan, and
• 6:34
Speaker 6: the talk line we hear today is not the way
• 6:36
Speaker 6: that the show started out. Give us the brief history
• 6:39
  Speaker 6: of that.
• 6:39
Speaker 7: Yeah, that's a good point. Years ago and everybody asked
• 6:42
Speaker 7: me when did it start? And I honestly don't remember
• 6:44
  Speaker 7: the year.
• 6:45
Speaker 5: It was around eighty nine or so.
• 6:47
Speaker 7: Maybe probably probably something like that. And we were in
• 6:52
Speaker 7: a meeting, a company meeting, Dale Miller, who built this company,
• 6:55
Speaker 7: and a couple other people were in a meeting and
• 6:58
Speaker 7: somehow the discussion of doing a talk show came up.
• 7:01
Speaker 7: And I was at the time the news director of
• 7:02
Speaker 7: Metro News, and it came up and people were just
• 7:06
Speaker 7: spitballing ideas, and somebody said we should do a talk show,
• 7:09
Speaker 7: and then somebody else said, yeah, Hoppy should do it.
• 7:11
Speaker 7: And I said, wait, wait, wait a minute, wait a minute.
• 7:14
Speaker 7: You know this requires a little more discussion, but it
• 7:16
  Speaker 7: happened very quickly. And when I started, I didn't I
• 7:21
Speaker 7: thought what I had to do was what everybody else did.
• 7:23
Speaker 7: I thought I had to copy rush Limbaugh or copy
• 7:25
Speaker 7: other people and have other people on with me. And
• 7:28
Speaker 7: it really evolved, and I had a number of people
• 7:32
Speaker 7: with me, and then it became me and Don marsh
• 7:34
Speaker 7: the late because that editor. Then Don passed away and
• 7:37
Speaker 7: then it was just me. So it took a long time,
• 7:40
Speaker 7: and there was really an evolution to get to where
• 7:42
Speaker 7: it is now. And maybe Dave, maybe only in the
• 7:46
Speaker 7: last couple of years have I really become more comfortable
• 7:49
Speaker 7: and more self assured about myself in that role.
• 7:53
Speaker 6: Again, we're talking with Hoppy kurch Ball, and as I
• 7:56
  Speaker 6: said at top, I know you're very busy. I won't
• 7:58
Speaker 6: keep you because you get to get ready for ten
• 7:59
Speaker 6: oh six and we can talk again later. But Hobby,
• 8:02
Speaker 6: I you know you are an institution in this state,
• 8:04
Speaker 6: and I just want to say thank you for all
• 8:06
Speaker 6: you've done for this industry and the state. I personally
• 8:09
Speaker 6: am appreciative for the advice you've given me over the
• 8:12
Speaker 6: years and just providing me someone to look up to.
• 8:14
  Speaker 6: I started doing talk radio a little. I've done a
• 8:17
Speaker 6: little in the past, but you know, full time a
• 8:20
Speaker 6: little later in my career. What most people do, I
• 8:24
Speaker 6: like you. I did music. I still do music here
• 8:27
Speaker 6: in Charleston. But you're the inspiration and you're the reason
• 8:32
Speaker 6: that myself and TJ. Meadows and Dave Wilson, some of
• 8:34
Speaker 6: these other guys and the ones that do what I
• 8:36
Speaker 6: do in other airs of the state, we look to
• 8:38
Speaker 6: you because that's the way it's supposed to be done.
• 8:41
Speaker 6: In my humble opinion.
• 8:42
Speaker 7: Well, you're very kind, and you know what I've done,
• 8:46
Speaker 7: Dave is one. We work for a great company. This
• 8:50
Speaker 7: is a wonderful company that still believes in the value
• 8:54
Speaker 7: of spoken word format in news and talk. And number
• 8:57
Speaker 7: two is just keep showing up. Just keep showing up
• 9:01
Speaker 7: and making mistakes and hopefully, you know, getting better as
• 9:05
Speaker 7: time goes on. And I really appreciate this company and
• 9:10
Speaker 7: people such as yourself and others who remain committed to
• 9:14
Speaker 7: news and talk radio. And I think it's valuable. I
• 9:16
Speaker 7: just think I think what happens in the stage is important.
• 9:19
  Speaker 7: We're like a mid size community. I think it's important
• 9:22
Speaker 7: for people to know what's going on. You deal with
• 9:25
Speaker 7: those issues every day, and we're going to continue to
• 9:27
Speaker 7: do that with what you do, with what Dave and
• 9:31
Speaker 7: TJ are going to do. And I look forward to listening,
• 9:33
Speaker 7: look forward to being a listener.
• 9:35
Speaker 6: Eventually everyone in the company will be named Dave, just
• 9:38
Speaker 6: so you know that that's why you're being forced out.
• 9:41
  Speaker 5: Hoppy.
• 9:42
Speaker 6: I appreciate you. We'll probably talk to you again before
• 9:44
Speaker 6: you hang it up for God. But thanks a lot, buddy,
• 9:46
Speaker 6: I really appreciate everything.
• 9:48
Speaker 7: Well, thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it.
• 9:49
Speaker 5: You have a great show you as well.
• 9:51
Speaker 6: All Right, Hoppy, Kurchable and Hoppy is coming up at
• 9:53
Speaker 6: ten oh six with Metro News talk Line from the
• 9:55
Speaker 6: Cove Insurance Studios and.
• 9:57
Speaker 5: The Dale Miller Ability to Morgantown.
• 9:58
Speaker 6: New WVU football coach Rich Rodriguez is first. This should
• 10:03
Speaker 6: be an interesting interview. I will definitely be listening to that.
• 10:07
Speaker 6: Might we see another government shutdown? We touched on it
• 10:12
Speaker 6: yesterday based on a text to the show I got yesterday.
• 10:14
Speaker 5: Hobby is going to get.
• 10:15
Speaker 6: Into more of that new core in need of another
• 10:18
Speaker 6: seventy five million dollars. Steven Allen Adams is on to
• 10:21
Speaker 6: talk to Hobby about that. Plus the US Attorney for
• 10:23
Speaker 6: the Southern District, Will Thompson, on the sentencing of the
• 10:26
Speaker 6: former police chief of Galli Bridge who was convicted. This
• 10:29
Speaker 6: is a bizarre story, convicted of sex trafficking of a minor.
• 10:34
Speaker 6: He was the former police chief of Galli Bridge and
• 10:37
Speaker 6: Will Thompson will talk about that, plus Brad's on the
• 10:39
Speaker 6: show today, Jared Halper to Fox News Radio, and of
• 10:41
Speaker 6: course with it being Friday, that means Steam Release programming notes.
• 10:45
Speaker 6: Someone asked me yesterday if Steam Release would be continuing
• 10:48
Speaker 6: after Hoppy retires and.
• 10:49
Speaker 5: Dave Wilson and TJ. Meadows takeover.
• 10:51
Speaker 6: As far as I know, yes, it will continue. That's
• 10:55
Speaker 6: Hoppy coming up at ten and six. Now, normally I
• 10:57
Speaker 6: would go right into talking to Hannah Gardner from the
• 10:59
Speaker 6: Kannaal char Umane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
• 11:02
Speaker 6: Pet of the Week, But to everybody at the shelters,
• 11:03
Speaker 6: a little busy this morning, so I don't have them
• 11:06
Speaker 6: on with me, but I do have our Adopt Me
• 11:08
Speaker 6: Please Pet of the Week, as I always do. I
• 11:10
Speaker 6: urge you to head on over to my social media.
• 11:14
Speaker 6: It's Dave Allen Radio on Facebook or at Dave a
• 11:16
Speaker 6: seventy on X, the artist formally known as Twitter, and
• 11:19
Speaker 6: take a look at Travis Junior. That is our dog today.
• 11:23
Speaker 5: He is a male.
• 11:24
Speaker 6: He's two years old, thirty two pounds. He's neutered, microchipped,
• 11:29
  Speaker 6: and vaccinated.
• 11:29
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 11:30
Speaker 6: Hannah tells me that he came in as a stray.
• 11:33
Speaker 6: He is available to be fostered. He does appear to
• 11:36
Speaker 6: be dog friendly and he prefers calmer dogs. Beautiful. I
• 11:41
Speaker 6: got a thing for beagles. Chris Lawrence and I were
• 11:43
  Speaker 6: having a debate about this. He's a retriever guy. I'm
• 11:46
Speaker 6: a beagle guy. I love the beagles. But anyway, he's
• 11:48
Speaker 6: a beautiful, beautiful dog. His name is Travis Junior. I
• 11:51
Speaker 6: would love to talk to Hannah. We were just texting.
• 11:53
Speaker 6: I'd like to talk to her to know why he's
• 11:56
Speaker 6: called Travis Junior. But he's a beautiful dog, two years old,
• 11:59
Speaker 6: around thirty two pounds, newtered, microchip, vaccinated, ready to go home,
• 12:03
Speaker 6: and if you want to foster one, he is definitely
• 12:06
Speaker 6: available to be fostered. We got a picture posted at
• 12:10
Speaker 6: Dave Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave a seventy
• 12:13
Speaker 6: on X and Hannah not with us this week because
• 12:16
Speaker 6: of some prior commitments. She and Angie and everybody at
• 12:18

• 12:19
Speaker 6: we will have them back on the show next week.

Speaker 6: how about the government giving another seventy five million dollars
• 12:45
Speaker 6: to New Court. Total state funding to the highly profitable
• 12:48
Speaker 6: corporation rest at three hundred and ninety million. Forget teacher
• 12:52
Speaker 6: raises as another use for that money. How about electrical
• 12:55
Speaker 6: upgrades to our older schools. How do we expect our
• 12:58
Speaker 6: children to compete in the job mark market if they
• 13:00
Speaker 6: don't have the skills necessary because the school's infrastructure is
• 13:04
Speaker 6: unable to power current technology. Hoppy ask why the state
• 13:08
Speaker 6: is giving more money to the highly profitable New Core.
• 13:10
Speaker 6: It's because they're desperate and our children have to do
• 13:14
Speaker 6: with less because of it. I'm gonna get into if
• 13:15

• 15:38
Speaker 6: just rolling around in the new chairs we got. We
• 15:42
Speaker 6: got new chairs here in the building, and apparently we
• 15:45
Speaker 6: didn't get any in the Mountain studio. And there's a
• 15:47
Speaker 6: reason for that because because animal is just rolling around
• 15:52
Speaker 6: doing Steve animal type type stuff.

Speaker 6: will go to noon. I think at Women's and children's
• 16:40
  Speaker 6: got some folks.
• 16:40
Speaker 5: Here to talk about. I go ahead and just introduce yourselves.
• 16:43
Speaker 10: My name is Corey Mohawk Hinkle. I'm the original organizer
• 16:47
Speaker 10: for the event. It started because my daughter, Chloe Hinkle,
• 16:50
Speaker 10: was in there eleven years ago.
• 16:52
Speaker 5: Okay, And who do we have over here?
• 16:55
  Speaker 10: Giggle giggles?
• 16:57
  Speaker 5: Giggles?
• 16:58
Speaker 6: Animal referred to you as giggles? Is there a reason
• 17:00
Speaker 6: why why we were supposed to call you giggles.
• 17:02
Speaker 11: I don't talk a lot during interviews. I just really laugh.
• 17:06
Speaker 6: Okay, all right, but you know, okay, all right, all right,
• 17:09
Speaker 6: So all right, so let's start that she doesn't talk
• 17:11
  Speaker 6: a lot.
• 17:12
Speaker 5: We'll go back to you.
• 17:12
Speaker 6: Okay, So tell I mean, if you don't mind, and
• 17:17
Speaker 6: tell us the story. You said that your daughter who's
• 17:19
Speaker 6: with us, uh was in the hospital. There is that, right, yes,
• 17:22
Speaker 6: all right, tell us the story if you don't mind
• 17:23
  Speaker 6: telling us story.
• 17:24
Speaker 10: It's fun. Eleven years ago in September there, West Virginia
• 17:30
Speaker 10: got hit with the upper respiratory infection real bad, was
• 17:33
Speaker 10: infecting kids and stuff like that, and the hospital was
• 17:36
Speaker 10: over full. She was one of the ones that was
• 17:39
Speaker 10: in there with the upper respiratory infection and she was
• 17:42
Speaker 10: in there for six days and at the time, there
• 17:47
Speaker 10: was a lady that was working there by the name
• 17:48
Speaker 10: of Christy Bissett. And uh, there's a playroom up there
• 17:51
Speaker 10: that the kids can go to and get crayons, color
• 17:54
Speaker 10: and books, puzzles, DVDs. Each room up there has a
• 17:59
Speaker 10: DVD player in it that if the families or the
• 18:02
Speaker 10: kids want to watch a movie while they're in there,
• 18:04
Speaker 10: they can. A lot of that stuff was broken, stolen.
• 18:09
Speaker 10: People decided to take it upon theirselves and walk home
• 18:12
Speaker 10: with it, I guess you could say. And I got
• 18:15
Speaker 10: to talking with Christy Bissett at the time, and that's
• 18:19
Speaker 10: where the toy ride come from. It gives the kids
• 18:23
Speaker 10: something to do while they're in there. No kid wants
• 18:25
Speaker 10: to be in the hospital, sure, and if you're up there,
• 18:29
Speaker 10: if you have kids or anything like that and you're
• 18:31
Speaker 10: up there, it just sucks for them. Most of them
• 18:36
Speaker 10: don't understand what's going on. They see all these machines,
• 18:41
Speaker 10: they see all these wires. They're uncomfortable, and it kind
• 18:44
Speaker 10: of this gives them something to not so much look
• 18:47
Speaker 10: forward to, but maybe distract them or get their spirits
• 18:50
Speaker 10: up or something like that. So I got to working
• 18:54
Speaker 10: with her and we end up putting together eleven years ago,
• 18:57
Speaker 10: and then it's grown to what it is now. It
• 19:02
  Speaker 10: it's a it's a great thing.
• 19:04
Speaker 6: Talk about that growth over the years of where it
• 19:06
Speaker 6: where it started eleven years ago and where it is now.
• 19:09
Speaker 5: Because from when I understand, this thing is huge.
• 19:11
  Speaker 2: Man.
• 19:14
Speaker 10: The least amount of motorcycles we've had riding this is
• 19:17
Speaker 10: one hundred and eighty seven. The most is three hundred
• 19:20
Speaker 10: and ninety four. Three hundred and ninety four, yes, okay,
• 19:24
Speaker 10: And it takes place every year the third Saturday in December.
• 19:28
Speaker 10: We never change it.
• 19:31
Speaker 6: So I would imagine you've you've done this thing in
• 19:33
Speaker 6: all sorts of weather, right, I mean tomorrow it's going
• 19:36
Speaker 6: to be cold, but it's going to be sunny at
• 19:38
Speaker 6: least from what I understand. So, but you've probably done
• 19:40
Speaker 6: this thing in all kinds of weather.
• 19:42
Speaker 10: This event takes place regardless of the weather. The only
• 19:45
Speaker 10: way that it will not take place is if we're
• 19:47
Speaker 10: under state of an emergency. The coldest it's been one year,
• 19:51
Speaker 10: I think it was six degrees and we had almost
• 19:54
Speaker 10: three hundred motorcycles that year that rode in it.
• 19:58
Speaker 6: Motorcyclist. I've said this before motorcyclists are like golfers. They
• 20:02
Speaker 6: don't care what the elements are, especially and especially if
• 20:04
Speaker 6: they're having fun and at the same time they're doing
• 20:08
Speaker 6: something to help out a cause like this, they don't care.
• 20:12
Speaker 10: You'd be surprised a lot of them more than fair
• 20:13
  Speaker 10: weather riders.
• 20:16
Speaker 5: Trying to give you guys a benefit of the doubt.
• 20:17
Speaker 10: Oh, there are some fairweather riders that above eighty five.
• 20:21
Speaker 10: They ain't get on that one.
• 20:22
  Speaker 5: I understand that.
• 20:23
Speaker 10: I understand that. But this is that one time of
• 20:25
Speaker 10: the year that everybody comes together and does this one
• 20:28
Speaker 10: thing for the kids. And if you've never seen it
• 20:31
Speaker 10: or been a part of it, you can still drop off.
• 20:33
Speaker 10: There's still fifteen or sixteen locations that we got to
• 20:36
  Speaker 10: pick up today.
• 20:37
Speaker 6: I want to talk about that because you have been collecting,
• 20:40
Speaker 6: and I got a list here of all these places
• 20:43
Speaker 6: that you have been collecting, and it would be easier
• 20:45
Speaker 6: in Kanaw County for me to give you a list
• 20:47
Speaker 6: of places that haven't been collecting, which I think has
• 20:51
Speaker 6: something to do with the spirit, and I always talk
• 20:53
Speaker 6: about it on this show, the spirit we have in
• 20:56
Speaker 6: this state of helping people out.
• 20:58
Speaker 10: Yeah, now we have fifteen or sixteen locations, Blizzards Custom
• 21:05
Speaker 10: Cycles along with back with Born Grill in Systonville.
• 21:14
Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I've got a list over here. Blizzards Generations, Barbershop,
• 21:18
Speaker 6: Red Lobster, Charleston. I guess these are people that have
• 21:21
Speaker 6: where they can drop things off, right, I don't get
• 21:23
Speaker 6: my list mixed up. Elk River Bar and Grill see
• 21:25
Speaker 6: Adam Tony Tires of Hurricane, Fifth Third Bank, Inas City
• 21:28
Speaker 6: Town and Country Lanes, Nitro Ta and them meets Cross Lanes,
• 21:31
Speaker 6: Red's Barbershops South Charleston, Gresham Plumbing, South Charleston, Swamp Fox
• 21:35
Speaker 6: Tavern Sissonville, Johnson Controls and PoCA O'reillatto Parks across Lane,
• 21:39
Speaker 6: Smith's Grocery Store of Elfview. I know you had some
• 21:42
Speaker 6: buy ins from some of the family dollar stores around
• 21:45
Speaker 6: the area. Dunbar Across Lanes, Ganas City, Marmette, South Charleston.
• 21:48
Speaker 6: Uh in Charleston. Uh so you just had a Dollar
• 21:52
Speaker 6: General stores. You just had a lot of folks stepped
• 21:54
  Speaker 6: out here.
• 21:54
Speaker 10: Yeah, a lot of them places have already been picked up.
• 21:57
Speaker 10: This okay, Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital, Canaul City, Bam Trucking, Charleston,
• 22:05
Speaker 10: Dollar General in Glasgow. If there's a list on the
• 22:10
Speaker 10: Facebook web page you can go to and you can
• 22:13
Speaker 10: actually get the list of all ninety some locations that
• 22:17
Speaker 10: we have, and there's telephone numbers for each location. If
• 22:20
Speaker 10: you're wanting to donate still, you can call one of
• 22:23
Speaker 10: them numbers that are on there and see if the
• 22:24
Speaker 10: box has been picked up yet. If it's not, it'll
• 22:26
Speaker 10: be picked up today. Or you can come to mar
• 22:30
Speaker 10: between ten and twelve to Daniel Boom Park and drop
• 22:34
Speaker 10: off a toy. We'll have enclosed trailers right now. The
• 22:38
Speaker 10: toys will go in and they'll be taken down there.
• 22:41
Speaker 10: The route every year is we leave Daniel Boom Park.
• 22:45
Speaker 10: We're there at Daniel Boom Park between ten and twelve.
• 22:48
Speaker 10: Right before we leave, we'll say prayer and then we'll
• 22:51
Speaker 10: pull out, maybe about twelve, ten, twelve, fifteen. We come
• 22:54
Speaker 10: straight down Pennsylvania or Pennsylvania No, that's the Bulevark. We'll
• 22:58
Speaker 10: come straight down the boulevard you're in front of the
• 23:00
Speaker 10: Capitol to Pennsylvania Avenue. That will make a right and
• 23:03
  Speaker 10: come to women's and children's if it's not something you've
• 23:06
Speaker 10: seen before. If you got little kids and they like
• 23:10
Speaker 10: motorcycles or what not. There's a lot of people that
• 23:15
Speaker 10: sit on that boulevard in Pennsylvania Avenue just to watch and
• 23:18
Speaker 10: just watch the bikes go by and wave at us.
• 23:22
Speaker 10: It's being sick. Don't have no discrimination when them kids
• 23:27
Speaker 10: are in the hospital. I mean, it sucks hearing them
• 23:29
Speaker 10: kids and they're crying all the time because they don't
• 23:32
Speaker 10: understand what's going on, and this is just something to
• 23:34
  Speaker 10: help them out.
• 23:34
Speaker 6: What kind of toys are you asking for? I mean,
• 23:37
Speaker 6: I know you pretty much take anything, but is there
• 23:40
  Speaker 6: a certain thing that you're looking for. I don't mean,
• 23:42
Speaker 6: you know, just just what makes it easier for you
• 23:45
  Speaker 6: guys to deliver.
• 23:47
Speaker 10: Anything new unwrapped. Infant to fifteen years of age. I
• 23:52
Speaker 10: guess you could say women's children's I mean you can,
• 23:56
Speaker 10: there's kids that come in that are seventeen eighteen years old.
• 24:00
Speaker 10: But the majority of the people that will benefit from
• 24:03
Speaker 10: this or on the peed's floor and stuff like that,
• 24:06
Speaker 10: so infant to fifteen is what I've always said.
• 24:10
Speaker 6: Okay, all right, and people can, as you said, if
• 24:12
Speaker 6: they if they're not motorcycle riders but they want to,
• 24:15
Speaker 6: they can. They can stop buny of those places today,
• 24:17
Speaker 6: or they can just come out to the park.
• 24:18
Speaker 10: To come out to the park tomorrow between ten and twelve.
• 24:22
Speaker 10: I got a guy that dresses up to Santa. He's
• 24:24
Speaker 10: done my Santa for eleven years, jim Bo Barr. He's
• 24:27
Speaker 10: a great Santa claus Man for me. And then I
• 24:30
Speaker 10: got Michael Moore, which is he goes by burnout and
• 24:35
Speaker 10: he's been out all week long picking up boxes for me.
• 24:38
Speaker 10: One thing is gonna work.
• 24:39
Speaker 6: One thing about bikers is you won't find, in my opinion,
• 24:43
Speaker 6: a group of people that have a bigger heart than
• 24:47
Speaker 6: what bikers do. I mean because you folks are all
• 24:50
Speaker 6: across this country are always doing things like this. And
• 24:53
Speaker 6: I know Steve and I have at Steve Animal from
• 24:55
Speaker 6: the Mountain Studio with me as well, and you know,
• 24:58
Speaker 6: both of us are really big on veterans things. I
• 25:00
Speaker 6: know Steve helps with the with the veterans, right. It's
• 25:02
Speaker 6: one of the great things I love about the biker community.
• 25:05
Speaker 6: You guys are always the first ones step. But if
• 25:07
Speaker 6: there's a tragedy of flood, the sick kid, you know whatever,
• 25:10
Speaker 6: you guys are the first ones to sign up and
• 25:13
Speaker 6: say how can we help?
• 25:16
Speaker 10: Even though we look like we do some of the
• 25:18
Speaker 10: covered in tattoos, and well they've got radio people, people
• 25:23
Speaker 10: were professional wrestlers or something all the above.
• 25:26
Speaker 6: Let me ask you about it. Have a little fun
• 25:28
Speaker 6: here before we go about the nickname thing. I mean,
• 25:30
Speaker 6: how does one in the biker community acquire a nickname?
• 25:33
Speaker 6: You can't name yourself, right, somebody's got to give you
• 25:35
  Speaker 6: the name, right.
• 25:36
  Speaker 10: Yeah, I've had a mohawk since gosh, I've had a
• 25:42
Speaker 10: mohawk on and off since probably two thousand and four
• 25:44
Speaker 10: because he's born with the mom Yeah, and it's just
• 25:49
Speaker 10: something I've always had. So when I started writing, that
• 25:53
Speaker 10: was the nickname. I have a mohawk.
• 25:55
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 25:56
Speaker 6: So if Steve and I were to take up motorcycles,
• 25:59
Speaker 6: look a look at Steve Animal, who's sitting over to
• 26:01
Speaker 6: your left. What would Steve's nickname be? Well, I mean
• 26:04
Speaker 6: we can call him gray Beard, gray Beard, gray Beard,
• 26:07
Speaker 6: but he's already got that animal name. Yeah that's true.
• 26:10
Speaker 6: Now actually animal is actually his real name. Uh so
• 26:13
Speaker 6: so what so what would mine be?
• 26:15
  Speaker 3: Be?
• 26:16
  Speaker 5: Nice?
• 26:16
  Speaker 10: Okay? What giggles?
• 26:19
  Speaker 5: All right?
• 26:19
Speaker 6: What do you think that way we can get her talking?
• 26:21
Speaker 6: Because I've never really had a nickname.
• 26:24
Speaker 5: All right, what do you like to do?
• 26:27
  Speaker 7: Uh?
• 26:27
  Speaker 5: Eat?
• 26:30
Speaker 6: Eat a big sports fan. You know that's uh, that's
• 26:33
Speaker 6: that kind of thing.
• 26:35
Speaker 5: Snacks, snacks, snacks, all right, you got that. If you
• 26:39
Speaker 5: got that. Gray Beard so so coming coming soon to
• 26:45
  Speaker 5: uh to.
• 26:46
Speaker 6: One of these events will be appearanced by gray Beard
• 26:48
Speaker 6: and Snacks, I see it. Hey, guys, before we let
• 26:52
Speaker 6: you go, give us all the details again. The ride
• 26:54
Speaker 6: is going to be tomorrow. You start at at ten
• 26:58
  Speaker 6: am a. You're collecting these toys for Women's and Children's.
• 27:01
Speaker 6: Give us all the details again.
• 27:03
Speaker 10: We'll be at Daniel Boom Park in the morning from
• 27:05
Speaker 10: ten am to twelve am twelve pm. We'll say prayer
• 27:09
Speaker 10: right before we leave, and then we'll get on the
• 27:11
Speaker 10: bikes and ride down the boulevard to Pennsylvania Avenue and
• 27:14
Speaker 10: the toys will be dropped off at Women's Children's through
• 27:17
Speaker 10: the loop. All that is required to participate is one
• 27:21
Speaker 10: unwrapped new toy per person on the bike.
• 27:24
Speaker 5: So yeah, that's something we didn't bring out. If the
• 27:26
Speaker 5: biker wants to do this, they have they have to.
• 27:29
Speaker 5: That's their entry fee.
• 27:30
Speaker 10: Entry fee is one new unwrapped toy. If you have
• 27:33
Speaker 10: two people on a bike, that's two two toys. Yep.
• 27:38
Speaker 10: And if if you if you want to donate today,
• 27:44
Speaker 10: you can contact me at three zero four three eight
• 27:47
Speaker 10: nine eight five zero nine. I can meet with you,
• 27:50
Speaker 10: or I can let you know what donations or what
• 27:53
Speaker 10: places have not been picked up yet. Also, I'll be
• 27:56
Speaker 10: out today, me and Giggles over there. We'll be out
• 27:59
Speaker 10: today to finishing picking up boxes today and go from there.
• 28:03
Speaker 6: All right, sounds good, and bikers can still what's the
• 28:06
Speaker 6: what's what's the process for bikers to sign if they
• 28:08
Speaker 6: just show up or just show up? Okay, just show
• 28:12
Speaker 6: up with a new unwrapped toy and you're in and
• 28:15
Speaker 6: that's it. We'll start there between ten and twelve. Like
• 28:18
Speaker 6: I said, show up if you don't want to ride
• 28:21
Speaker 6: your bike, if you're from a long distance or something
• 28:23
  Speaker 6: like that.
• 28:23
Speaker 10: Ohio, Kentucky. I've had people from Indiana come in Charleston
• 28:28
Speaker 10: Moose parking lot. They've always allowed us to use their
• 28:30
Speaker 10: parking lot. You can always trailer your motorcycle and park
• 28:32
Speaker 10: your trailer and vehicle there, and then Daniel Boom parks
• 28:35
Speaker 10: right next door. The whole ride ain't but two and
• 28:37
Speaker 10: a half miles long to the hospital and two and
• 28:40
Speaker 10: a half miles back. Like I said, earlier on the
• 28:43
Speaker 10: show with Animal there, suck it up. I mean, it's
• 28:47
Speaker 10: the one time of the year you're going to ride
• 28:49
Speaker 10: in cold weather. Maybe suck it up and deal with it.
• 28:52
Speaker 10: These kids are in the hospital, they have no choice
• 28:54
Speaker 10: to put it be in there.
• 28:55
Speaker 6: They're dealing with the things that most of them are
• 28:58
Speaker 6: dealing with, things a lot more important or a lot difficult,
• 29:00
Speaker 6: a lot more difficult than cold Yes, so Animal, what
• 29:03
  Speaker 6: do you want?
• 29:03
Speaker 12: And I was gonna say, traveling last year, it's amazing
• 29:07
Speaker 12: to see the kids pressed up against the window and
• 29:09
Speaker 12: hundreds of motorcycles are pulling into the hospital. So it's
• 29:12
Speaker 12: really something to be seen.
• 29:14
Speaker 10: So that's awesome for that the kids. The kids look
• 29:17
Speaker 10: forward to it. I mean, come by, as come by
• 29:22
Speaker 10: and come down. It's the only thing I can tell you.
• 29:24
Speaker 10: And if it's something you can't make to the hospital,
• 29:27
Speaker 10: you get a lot of people that pork down there,
• 29:29
Speaker 10: Shoney's on the boulevard and all up and down the
• 29:30

Speaker 6: Downtown Charleston Association here, Kevin Madison and Morgan Morrison. You're
• 33:44
Speaker 6: probably wondering what in the hell are they talking about,
• 33:47
Speaker 6: So so let me let me set this up for you,
• 33:51
Speaker 6: just so you guys will know. Our last guests in
• 33:54
Speaker 6: here are doing their toy ride tomorrow for Women's and
• 33:57
Speaker 6: Children's CAMC and they were explaining to me about motorcyclists
• 34:04
Speaker 6: and their nicknames. I had Mohawk and Giggles on the show.
• 34:08
Speaker 6: And I asked them, because animal is in here to
• 34:11
Speaker 6: Steve Animal, I said, if we were to give because
• 34:14
Speaker 6: you can't give yourself a nickname, because mine would be like,
• 34:17
Speaker 6: you know, king or something. Apparently there's a joke here.
• 34:20
Speaker 6: I don't know what that is, but but but anyway, okay,
• 34:22
Speaker 6: So I asked them what our nicknames would be, and
• 34:25
Speaker 6: we decided that animals would be Graybeard. Uh that's what
• 34:30
Speaker 6: they named him and me. They said what do I like?
• 34:32
Speaker 6: And people that know me know, first thing I said
• 34:35
  Speaker 6: was food.
• 34:36
Speaker 5: So my name, my my motorcycle nickname is now snacks.
• 34:39
Speaker 3: Okay, and that kind of has an edge to it.
• 34:42
  Speaker 10: I like it.
• 34:43
Speaker 6: It doesn't have an edge to it. But the thing
• 34:46
Speaker 6: about it is, I'm not a big snack person. I mean,
• 34:48
Speaker 6: you should call me steak or call me you know,
• 34:50
Speaker 6: because I'm fil a Bobby Bobby spry Is is brought
• 34:56
Speaker 6: you guys in here, and Bobby and I share an office.
• 34:59
Speaker 6: I do not want her, do not give her the
• 35:02
Speaker 6: permission to ever ever give me a nickname. All right,
• 35:06
Speaker 6: just so you know you cannot call me. Hey, guys,
• 35:08
Speaker 6: how are we doing. We're all caught up.
• 35:09
Speaker 12: Now, good, We're good at Morgan.
• 35:12
Speaker 11: You, I know you can't see how we look here
• 35:14
Speaker 11: on the radio, But Morgan, I've.
• 35:15
Speaker 3: Got a fit for the radio this morning.
• 35:18
Speaker 6: Let me let me before we get to while you're here,
• 35:21
Speaker 6: congratulations you're doing the dancing.
• 35:22
  Speaker 5: With the stars.
• 35:23
  Speaker 3: I sure, I am.
• 35:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, you and Evan Osborne for Capital Market. I mean,
• 35:29
Speaker 6: you guys are going. And I saw some of the
• 35:30
Speaker 6: pictures posted online. Uh, you're gonna rock this.
• 35:35
Speaker 3: Thing, Dave, I said, as hell, can't dance, So I
• 35:37
Speaker 3: just help my personality to make people life and fundraising
• 35:40
Speaker 3: skills wins this thing for us.
• 35:42
Speaker 6: Well so, and I told her, because Morgan and I
• 35:44
Speaker 6: are from the same hometown, I said, you know how
• 35:48
Speaker 6: we handle things l A style.
• 35:49
Speaker 5: If we don't win, and I'm just gonna leave it
• 35:52
Speaker 5: at that. I'm gonna leave it at that. Other businesses know.
• 35:56
Speaker 3: Just no, we don't compete, David.
• 35:58
  Speaker 7: We don't.
• 35:58
  Speaker 5: We don't compete.
• 35:59
Speaker 10: We went in out.
• 36:00
Speaker 5: That's the way we do things down there. All right.
• 36:01
Speaker 6: So you guys are here to talk about the Santa
• 36:04
Speaker 6: Crawl tomorrow, Kevin Morgan, get to it, well.
• 36:07
Speaker 3: I mean the Santa Crawls tomorrow Saturday. We're doing the
• 36:11
Speaker 3: registration at six. A lot of people don't know what
• 36:13
Speaker 3: Santa Cral is. Santa Cral is actually kind of inspired
• 36:16
Speaker 3: by Santakon and New York. I don't anybody. I used
• 36:19
Speaker 3: to always go to New York every year in December
• 36:21
Speaker 3: and always ended up there during Santakon, and you just
• 36:24
Speaker 3: remember the first year being like, why are their Santa
• 36:26
Speaker 3: Clauses everywhere? And seriously, I mean I'm not exaggerating. There
• 36:30
Speaker 3: are Santas everywhere and it's basically one giant crawl of
• 36:35
Speaker 3: Santa clauses. So you know, we're encouraging everybody to get
• 36:39
Speaker 3: their best version of a Santa suit ready. Every bar, restaurant,
• 36:43
Speaker 3: pretty much downtown is participating. The wrist bands are only
• 36:46
Speaker 3: fifteen dollars and it gets you no cover into anywhere
• 36:50
Speaker 3: and exclusive drink deals for Santas, so it's gonna be
• 36:53
Speaker 3: really fun. I love it.
• 36:55
Speaker 6: I love the fact we have exclusive drink deals for Santa's.
• 36:59
Speaker 3: He deserves it. He deserves everybody's Santa.
• 37:01
Speaker 6: During Everybody's saying there's only one Santa, but these are
• 37:03
Speaker 6: all dressed to sand. We want to make sure that
• 37:05
Speaker 6: people realize that. Are you sure, Yes, yes, there's only one.
• 37:09
Speaker 6: There's only one, but these folks are are are carrying
• 37:12
Speaker 6: on the spirit of Santa. How did this whole idea
• 37:14
Speaker 6: come about? I mean, I know you said it came
• 37:15
Speaker 6: from New York, but I mean it's one thing to
• 37:17
Speaker 6: have it there and to try to bring it here.
• 37:18
Speaker 6: Who's crazy idea was to do that here in Charleston.
• 37:21
Speaker 10: I'll give you. I'll give you one guess, will you
• 37:23
  Speaker 10: one guess?
• 37:24
Speaker 3: The only adhd squirrel in the room who just has
• 37:28
Speaker 3: random ideas at three am and calls Kevin for permission
• 37:30
  Speaker 3: at six.
• 37:32
Speaker 5: Who we call her?
• 37:33
Speaker 11: Nickname is Roxy by the way, during Holly Jolly Brawley. Yeah,
• 37:36
Speaker 11: and apparently I've been named Hazel.
• 37:38
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 37:40
  Speaker 5: I'm sure there's Christmas.
• 37:42
  Speaker 11: There's a story there too.
• 37:43
Speaker 6: We probably don't want to know because I try to.
• 37:45
Speaker 5: Keep this show. Pg. Thirteen. So how long is this?
• 37:48
Speaker 5: How long have you been doing this? This is the
• 37:50
  Speaker 5: first year?
• 37:50
Speaker 11: First year, that's the first year, you know, downtown Charleston,
• 37:54
  Speaker 11: is it?
• 37:54
  Speaker 9: Is it?
• 37:54
  Speaker 11: Christmas Vibe?
• 37:56
  Speaker 10: Right? Yeah?
• 37:57
Speaker 11: And you know with the you KNOWDA being in place
• 38:01
Speaker 11: here in Charleston. Uh, you know, kudos to Mayor Goodwin
• 38:05
Speaker 11: and her administration staff a city council for you know,
• 38:09
Speaker 11: allowing Charleston to have PODA. It's I mean it's changed
• 38:12
  Speaker 11: the game.
• 38:13
Speaker 5: I mean, uh, you know.
• 38:14
Speaker 6: We can have some of those who don't know explain
• 38:16
Speaker 6: what PODA is. Owners downtowns explain what Potada.
• 38:21
Speaker 11: It's basically, we call it the Capital City Sip and Stroll.
• 38:26
Speaker 11: So you can purchase an alcoholic beverage at several locations
• 38:29
Speaker 11: throughout downtown in the PODA footprint. And if there's a
• 38:33
Speaker 11: green sticker on the door, you can bring your beverage
• 38:37
Speaker 11: in and shop downtown like you know Purple Moon or.
• 38:42
  Speaker 10: Art and Porium.
• 38:43
Speaker 11: If there's a black sticker on the door, that means
• 38:47
Speaker 11: we sell you those alcoholic beverages, then you can come
• 38:50
Speaker 11: in and all that stuff and buy one. There's a
• 38:53
Speaker 11: couple of businesses that have a red sticker on the
• 38:55
Speaker 11: doors like hey, we we would prefer that you didn't
• 38:57
Speaker 11: bring that. And that's the real qu vie. And you know,
• 39:02
Speaker 11: the program has been amazing. I know it's helped you know,
• 39:05
Speaker 11: on I can say on Summer Street at Black Sheep
• 39:08
Speaker 11: and five Street and short Story. I mean, it's definitely
• 39:12
Speaker 11: you know, added to the bottom line. It's a great program.
• 39:15
Speaker 11: Everyone's done a great job being really well behaved with it,
• 39:20
Speaker 11: and you know, because of that, we can have these
• 39:22
Speaker 11: awesome events like the Pub Crawl we had in October
• 39:25
Speaker 11: and then now we're doing the Santa Crawl.
• 39:26
Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, and you know we always talk about
• 39:29
Speaker 3: you know, we put all this work into Holly Jolly Brawley.
• 39:31
Speaker 3: The decorations are great, Downtown has packed for the remainder
• 39:34
Speaker 3: of the year, but it's like all this hype and
• 39:35
Speaker 3: then we just have two days of something to celebrate
• 39:39
Speaker 3: you know, actually going on. So by adding the Santa Crawl,
• 39:42
Speaker 3: it's something we've kind of tossed around for the last
• 39:44
Speaker 3: couple of years. The timing just didn't feel right. We
• 39:46
Speaker 3: were we were two packed. So this year it really
• 39:48
Speaker 3: felt like the right time to roll it out and
• 39:50
Speaker 3: we hope that it's successful. We hope it's something that
• 39:52
Speaker 3: can become a tradition, just like everything else we do.
• 39:55
Speaker 3: We saw really good turnout for Bralloween, which we did
• 39:57
Speaker 3: in October, and the you know, like Kevin said, it's
• 40:00
Speaker 3: all about supporting businesses, supporting the bar, not just the bars,
• 40:03
Speaker 3: but the businesses. When people come downtown at six, they're
• 40:06
Speaker 3: going to eight, they're going to stop at a shop
• 40:08
Speaker 3: they see, So it really just helps everyone and it
• 40:11
Speaker 3: creates fun memories downtown, which is really just what we
• 40:13
Speaker 3: both want. So we're excited to do this. And it's
• 40:16
Speaker 3: my thirtieth birthday, oh tomorrow, A better way to celebrate.
• 40:19
Speaker 5: It's all this is for you.
• 40:21
  Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty much.
• 40:24
Speaker 5: That's exactly right, Dave.
• 40:25
Speaker 11: I'm just here for support.
• 40:27
Speaker 6: That's exactly right. I want to talk about though, Let's
• 40:30
Speaker 6: talk about the whole holly jolly, browdy thing. I mean,
• 40:32
Speaker 6: you had the you know, the big events, you know,
• 40:35
Speaker 6: the Black Friday in the day after, but the trees
• 40:38
Speaker 6: are still there, things are continuing.
• 40:39
Speaker 5: It's just been awesome.
• 40:40
Speaker 11: Yeah, it looks it looks incredible. I have to say,
• 40:44
Speaker 11: I think this year has been my top favorite. It
• 40:49
Speaker 11: looks amazing. Weather's been pretty good. The trees do stay up,
• 40:54
Speaker 11: you know, to the first of the year. And then
• 40:56
Speaker 11: those of you don't know, you know, we'd had the
• 40:58
Speaker 11: voting on the twenty nine and thirtieth of November and
• 41:02
Speaker 11: astorg Auto was first place.
• 41:05
Speaker 3: Counseling Nook was second.
• 41:07
Speaker 11: Yeah, and then the West Virginia Kids Cancer Crusaders or third.
• 41:12
Speaker 5: But these people stepped up their Did.
• 41:14
Speaker 3: You see Asto's tree. They had a whole Mercedes at
• 41:18
Speaker 3: the base of theirs. They deserved first place. So shout
• 41:21
Speaker 3: out to John Brown. He was so tore up last year.
• 41:24
Speaker 3: He's like, I'm gonna come back and I'm gonna win.
• 41:26
Speaker 3: I was like, you will, John, I have faith and
• 41:27
Speaker 3: look at him. He did not disapoint. Honestly, none of
• 41:30
Speaker 3: the trees disappointed this year because you know, yeah, we
• 41:33
Speaker 3: hang lights, we do the light show, we do the
• 41:35
Speaker 3: little snowflakes. But it's up to the tree sponsors to
• 41:39
Speaker 3: make college jolly, probably magical because the majority of the
• 41:42
Speaker 3: decorations are the trees, and these are things that people
• 41:45
Speaker 3: pay out of pocket. They decorate themselves. We just give
• 41:48
Speaker 3: them a tree in a stand and they do it all.
• 41:50
Speaker 3: So it's really a community effort to give that magical feeling.
• 41:53
Speaker 3: And they truly went above and beyond, like TC Energy's tree.
• 41:57
Speaker 3: Their topper is a three D replica of the TC
• 42:00
Speaker 3: Energy building as the uphouse. I mean, all these like
• 42:03
Speaker 3: custom elements. It just makes it incredible. So it's really
• 42:07
Speaker 3: cool to see everybody put pretty much just as much
• 42:09
Speaker 3: effort as we do into it.

Speaker 6: going on tomorrow, but Monday and there'll be you know.
• 42:44
Speaker 5: Some things on Tuesday.
• 42:46
Speaker 6: A final thank you, a final invitation to come to
• 42:49
Speaker 6: downtown Charleston, either one of you, Kevin or Morgan, either
• 42:52
Speaker 6: Morgan of Rock City and Kevin and blacks Few either one.
• 42:56
  Speaker 5: I'll go ahead.
• 42:56
Speaker 11: I mean, you know, it's this is this is the
• 42:59
Speaker 11: time of the year to give back to these local businesses,
• 43:03
Speaker 11: you know, and for some it's been it's you know,
• 43:05
Speaker 11: it's been tough for some. For some it's not. You know,
• 43:08
Speaker 11: business has been good, but yeah, I mean it's we'd
• 43:13
Speaker 11: love your support this time of the year. I mean,
• 43:15
Speaker 11: these are the same businesses that are supporting you know,
• 43:17
Speaker 11: school events and sports teams throughout the year. And you've
• 43:22
Speaker 11: got hardworking people at all of these different restaurants and
• 43:25
Speaker 11: you know establishments. You know, the increased business.
• 43:29
  Speaker 7: You know it.
• 43:29
Speaker 11: You know it pays their bills and it you know,
• 43:31
Speaker 11: it helps them have a great holiday season. Retailers, I
• 43:35
Speaker 11: mean everybody, it's yeah.
• 43:37
Speaker 3: It's also you know, Matt Sutton made an amazing post
• 43:40
Speaker 3: a few weeks ago on Facebook. I know we all
• 43:43
Speaker 3: see it on Facebook talking about how them all is dead,
• 43:46
Speaker 3: how Charleston just isn't what it used to be during Christmas.
• 43:49
Speaker 3: And that may be the case, but you know, if
• 43:51
Speaker 3: you go one block over, it can be shoulder to
• 43:54
Speaker 3: shoulder some weekends, and you have an entire community banning
• 43:58
Speaker 3: together to make Charleston and beautiful during Christmas. And we
• 44:02
Speaker 3: have the Holly Jolly Browley trolley which takes you straight
• 44:05
Speaker 3: to light the night to Capital Market. Charleston is still
• 44:08
Speaker 3: amazing during Christmas. It's getting better and better every year,
• 44:11
Speaker 3: and there's literally thousands of people coming down here every weekend,
• 44:16
Speaker 3: and so we just really want to give the message
• 44:18
Speaker 3: out to invite everyone who may not be familiar with
• 44:20
Speaker 3: downtown Charleston, and you may only know the town Center,
• 44:23
Speaker 3: go one two blocks over and you're gonna be amazed
• 44:27
Speaker 3: at the businesses and the decorations and everything, and it's
• 44:30
Speaker 3: shops local. It's different, but it's still good.
• 44:33
Speaker 11: Well yeah, I mean, if they got off their chair
• 44:35
Speaker 11: behind their computer, you know, and stop being an Internet
• 44:38
Speaker 11: troll and making comments like that, that was a positive Christmas.
• 44:43
Speaker 5: Positive but well it's easy. Look, it's easy. It's easy
• 44:46
Speaker 5: to take out the bad things. But you know, I agree,
• 44:49
Speaker 5: but there's way more.
• 44:51
Speaker 11: Positive things happening in Charleston than there are negative things,
• 44:54
Speaker 11: and I wish people would just get on that.
• 44:56
Speaker 3: And there are Internet trolls, but I truly think. I mean,
• 45:00
Speaker 3: I'm from Logan County, Dave. My family knows how to
• 45:02
Speaker 3: get to Walmart in South rich and they know how
• 45:06
Speaker 3: to get to the mall and maybe the Civic Center.
• 45:08
Speaker 3: They're not familiar with downtown. They don't know that Capitol
• 45:12
Speaker 3: Street exists or Summer Street. And we may not realize
• 45:14
Speaker 3: it because we're so immersed in downtown. But a lot
• 45:17
Speaker 3: I mean thirty minutes either direction couldn't tell you anything
• 45:20
Speaker 3: about downtown. It feels like New York City to them.
• 45:22
Speaker 3: So it's important for us to get the message out
• 45:25
Speaker 3: to them, let them know we exist. One way is
• 45:28
Speaker 3: maybe a little scary, but I promise it's not that bad,
• 45:31
Speaker 3: and you're not gonna get mugged. As soon as you
• 45:33
Speaker 3: get out of your car. It's safe. There's a lot
• 45:35
Speaker 3: of really friendly faces and we want them to come
• 45:38
Speaker 3: down here and experience that. And I can speak firsthand.
• 45:41
Speaker 3: I know a lot of people from Logan County who
• 45:42
Speaker 3: this was their first time downtown. During Holly Jolly Brawley
• 45:46
Speaker 3: this year, they had family photos made, they ate an
• 45:48
Speaker 3: Iglooz and this was like a big step for them
• 45:51
Speaker 3: because this was out of their comfort zone, this was
• 45:53
Speaker 3: out of their element. They all left with a really
• 45:55
Speaker 3: good impression of Charleston in their head. So that is
• 45:57
Speaker 3: what we want, yea. And the only way you can
• 46:00
Speaker 3: drown out that negative is just by pushing more positive
• 46:03
  Speaker 3: people's throats. And that's what we're.
• 46:04
Speaker 6: Here, pushing positive down people's trying to get it whether
• 46:07
  Speaker 6: you want.
• 46:08
  Speaker 5: I think I like that.
• 46:09
Speaker 6: And Bobby is uh, you know this one of our
• 46:12
Speaker 6: sales weasels who's in the studio this morning. I think
• 46:15
Speaker 6: you should put that down as their marketing now for
• 46:17
Speaker 6: Downtown Charleston Association, Pushing pushing positive.
• 46:20
Speaker 5: Whether you want it or not. How's that? That's I guess.
• 46:23
Speaker 5: Give us the details again about the Santa Crawl.
• 46:25
Speaker 3: Santa Crawl registration starts at Black Sheep on the Summer
• 46:29
Speaker 3: Street party side. You'll see somebody out there in Santa,
• 46:32
Speaker 3: whether it's me or I make Clayton. I'm not sure
• 46:34
Speaker 3: the time start registering at six o'clock, but the pub crawl,
• 46:40
Speaker 3: I mean it goes on all night basically six six.
• 46:45
Speaker 6: All right, Well, guys, if probably won't have you in
• 46:47
Speaker 6: before Christmas. So thank you and God bless you for
• 46:49
Speaker 6: what you folks and so many others do uh for
• 46:53
Speaker 6: for not only because these things we talk about Downtown Charleston,
• 46:58
Speaker 6: but when you couldn't do it, which is Charles. I mean,
• 47:00
Speaker 6: these people that are coming to these things are coming,
• 47:03
Speaker 6: as you said, from southern West Virginia. They're coming from
• 47:05
Speaker 6: South Charleston, Saint Albans Day's Valley. They're coming in to
• 47:08
Speaker 6: take these things in and I'm.
• 47:10
Speaker 11: From Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan. I mean we you know,
• 47:13
Speaker 11: in the restaurant, you see you know there's families traveling.
• 47:16
  Speaker 11: I mean it's incredible.
• 47:17
  Speaker 10: They love it.
• 47:18
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 47:18
Speaker 6: I appreciate you both being here and have a very
• 47:21
Speaker 6: very happy holiday season. By the way, on Tuesday programming note,
• 47:25
Speaker 6: on Christmas eve Day, we will be doing our annual
• 47:27
Speaker 6: Jewish Christmas Spectacular h with Mike Pushkin who comes in.
• 47:32
Speaker 6: We don't talk politics. I tell him you need to
• 47:34
Speaker 6: check your check your stuff at the door, buddy and others.
• 47:38
Speaker 6: So if you guys are out and about and you
• 47:40
Speaker 6: want to you want to run in.
• 47:41
  Speaker 3: Uh.
• 47:42
Speaker 5: I mean, I've got like the studios a lot.
• 47:44
Speaker 3: More that like Adam Sandler SNG in my head. I
• 47:46
Speaker 3: hope you play that as the intro to this shut.
• 47:48
Speaker 6: He's going to be playing different Christmas music he does
• 47:51
Speaker 6: every year. He's got a guest that's coming in with him.
• 47:56
Speaker 6: So it's it's must listen to radio for sure, because
• 47:59
Speaker 6: it's politics free. We just talked, you know, Pushkin places
• 48:03
Speaker 6: Little Twanger and we and we we we we just
• 48:06
Speaker 6: we just talk about positive stuff.
• 48:08
Speaker 5: Whether you want it or not, push it in positive.
• 48:12
Speaker 6: Pushing it down your throat, whether you want it or not.
• 48:14
Speaker 6: It's on Tuesday, and I'm telling that for the listeners
