- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, friend, welcome back to Bible Track Decos.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Mike, I'm a Curie, your host.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so very much for joining me once again today.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to encourage you to grab your Bible's turn to the book of first Samuel chapter 17.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: While you turn there, let me tell you about Gospel Track.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: First Samuel chapter 17, we're going to return to the scene of the battle, David and Goliath.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to find out what really happens and how David was able to gain the victory.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: But before that, let me tell you about this gospel track that I have in my hand right now.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your service.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: Now, is this gospel track for those that are veterans?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Those that have fought and fought and war is it for our service men and women?
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: Not quite.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: We do have other tracks that work perfectly for our veterans and things that nature.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: This gospel track is for those that have provided you a specific service personally.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: On the front it has, you can see those that maybe cut your hair.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: It has people that maybe serve you, the weight staff, things of that nature.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: People that help you out purposefully and personally, thank you for your service.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then it says, your service was.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: And on the front cover, it gives four options.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: It says, your service was at the very bottom.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: It says, acceptable.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that doesn't sound great, does it?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: How about the next one?
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's on great, though.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: Then the next one is excellent.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Your service was excellent.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the very top box is the greatest in all the world.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you think about it, this gospel tract kind of hopefully will grab someone.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you've left a generous tip inside this gospel tract and you left it on that little tray at the restaurant and it says, thank you, your service was.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then they want to know why you didn't market as the greatest in all the world because the checkbox is already marked excellent.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it marked excellent and not the greatest in all the world?
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because that's hyperbole?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because that's a superlative?
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: No friend is because there was one.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: There is one that has provided the greatest service in all the world when he died and gave his life.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: For you.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: And for me, his name was Jesus Christ, and this gospel track uses that story to tell the gospel to those that provide you a service.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: You can find this gospel track on Bibletracksink.org today.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Bibletracksink.org today, you can get them for free.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Did I mention our gospel tracks for free?
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: in spite of inflation and spite of economic conditions, we are still printing our gospel tracks for free.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: If you'd like to partner with us, feel free, but I can tell you this.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking for people that will pray for us.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking for people that will distribute our gospel tracks and a distant third.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking for people to partner financially with us.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: If God leads you to do any of those things, we would be much obliged.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: First Samuel, chapter number 17, we read in previous days about this man named Galif.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: massive man, six qubits in the span, first number five of First Samuel 17, and he, Goliath, had an helmet of brass upon his head.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: He was armed with a coat of a male, and the weight of the coat was five thousand sheckles of brass.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: He had grieves of brass upon his legs and a target of brass between his shoulders.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: and the staff of his spear was like a weavers beam and his spears had weighed 600 shekels of iron and one bearing a shield went before him.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna have to look at what a weavers beam looks like.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm imagining like a cross between a telephone pole and a four by four, six by six.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not quite sure.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna have to look that up so I have a mental image of what a weavers beam looks like and he stood the Bible says and cried unto the armies of Israel
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then he launches into this diet tribe.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, just kind of denigrating them, putting them down, telling them they're nothing.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: He says this, you send out a man to confront me.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: If your guy wins, one on one combat, then all of us will be your slaves.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: But if I be your guy, then all of you will be our slaves.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: What he's effectively doing is he's throwing down a gauntlet
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: war.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's declaring war.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now here's the thought today.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to declare war.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: But before we declare war on the world, the flesh and the devil, there's a few things that we need to understand.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: We need to realize what it's going to cost us.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to realize what it's going to cause for us if we declare war.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so let's look at the story of a young man named
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: David, as he declared war.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: First number 12 of, let's see, verse 11 1st.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, when they heard what he had to say, Goliath, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: First number 12, now David, was the son of that efferethite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and he, Jesse, had eight sons, and the man went among men for an old man in the days of Saul.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Jesse was an old man that I will say.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: And the three eldest sons of Jesse went and followed Saul to the battle.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: In the names of his three sons that went to the battle were Alayab, the firstborn, and next to him, a bendedab, and the third Shama.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: And David was the youngest of the eight, okay?
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't fourth in line, he was number eight.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: And the three eldest followed Saul, or 15.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: But David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep and Bethlehem.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: I realized in chapter number 16 there's a little bit of context here.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: David is playing an instrument playing the harp for Saul to appease the evil spirit within him, but David, the Bible says during the battle during this war that's going to happen, David went and returned from Saul to feed his father's sheep at Bethlehem for 16, and the Philistines drew near morning and evening and presented himself 40 days.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Twice a day,
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Verse number 17, and Jesse sent us a David's son.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: Take now for thy brethren, and EFA of this parched corn, and these ten lows and run to the camp to thy brethren.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: In carry, these ten cheeses, unto captain of their thousand, and look how they brethren fair and take their pledge.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now Saul, and they, and all the men of Israel, were in the valley of Ela, fighting with the Philistines.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: And David rose up early in the morning, and left sheep with a keeper, and took, and went as Jesse had commanded him, and he came to the trench as the host was going forth to fight, and shouted for the battle.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: For Israel and the Philistines, I put the battle in a ray, army against army.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: and David left his carriage, in the hand of the keeper of the carriage and ran into the army and came and salute his brethren, as he talked with them behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, glieth by name out of the armies of the Philistines and spake according to the same words and David heard them.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: All the men of Israel, when they saw the man fled from him and were sore-fraid.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we don't know for fact, if every time the 80 times that the lieth came out and presented himself and said these things, if they fled every single time, but knowing the Israelites, it's highly likely.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: They'd come up, they'd muster enough courage in the morning, and they'd say we're going to come out and do battle, and the Philistine came out, said his peace, and they all ran away.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: in the afternoon evening time that came out, where did you battle again?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: They finally, they steal up the courage.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Goliath comes out, says what he says, and they all run away again.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now we don't know if it's happening again, again, but a magic with me that maybe it did.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: But here, David, he's hearing these words for the first time.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Get this.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what David said.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Verse number 24, in all the men of Israel, when they saw the man fled from him and were sore-fraid, and the men of Israel said, like they're still talking about this.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: They've seen like 40 days.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Have he seen this man that has come up surely to defy Israel is he come up and it shall be that the man who killed them, the king will enrich him with great riches and will give unto, give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: But David starts asking some searching questions.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's offended by this.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's not offended for himself personally.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's offended on behalf of Almighty God.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, you guys are standing around letting him talk like that?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: In verse number 28 will skip down, and Eliab, his eldest brother, heard when he spoke unto the men, and Eliab's anger was kindle against David and said, why came his bow down hitter?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And with whom has thou left those few sheep in the wilderness, I know thy pride, and the noddinous of thine heart, for thou art come down the doubt mightest see the battle.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you, Eliab was feeling guilty about the fact that he was doing nothing, and
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: And David said, the famous verse, what have I now done is they're not a cause.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: He asks a question, already in his heart is the faint stirrings of a declaration of war.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's heard this guy talk, he's had enough of his mess, he's only heard it one time and he's thinking, we're not doing this again, but what's wrong with you guys is they're
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Alia bothered by it.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you as we jump right in here that there are a few items that you'll need to check off the list if you're going to be willing to declare a warrant number one, you must be available.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to be available.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many folks that talk a good talk, but when it comes down to the fight actually being ready to happen, when it comes down to Fisticuffs about to occur, when the boxing gloves get strapped on,
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: there know where to be found.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to be available.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: David, yes, was in the right place the right time, but he was available to say, you know what, somebody's got to do something, I want to be that man, but he was not just available if you're going to declare war.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: you've got to be willing to get aggressive.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to be willing to get aggressive.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now what are you talking about here?
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like in this day and time, a lack of aggression is glorified.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: The a feminine man is seemingly put up on a pedestal and the toxic masculinity of what the Bible would call biblical masculinity has been pushed down and dumped down.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: What are you talking about getting aggressive?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not just talking to the men that are listing right now.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: When sin is as aggressive as it is in our world right now, there's a time and a place for God's people, for Christians to get aggressive, to take in aggressive
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: stance.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's not time to play patty cake with the world of flesh and the devil.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Think about we talked about yesterday about when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, FDR the president had a decision to make and on December 8, 1941, just 24 hours or there about later, he sits in front of the assembled houses of Congress and says, here's the deal, we are going
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: to war.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'd recommend pull up on YouTube December 8, 1941 FDR Declaration of War with Japan and us entering World War II.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: They declared war.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: You say, of course, they did.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: There was no choice to be made.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: No friend.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: There was a choice to be made.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: They could have just taken on the chin and said, I don't want any part of this.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: You guys do whatever you want.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: talking to the Japanese, talking to the access powers, talking to Italy, talking to the Nazi Germany, talking to all the, everything I was going on at the time, they could have said, we want no part of this, but they said we're in a clear war and they were going to have to get aggressive.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: about it.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want to continue this discussion tomorrow.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to ask you if you would would you join us again tomorrow?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Would you be a part of the broadcast?
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: I would love for you to listen in as we talk about declaring war, not for our own game, not for our own infamy, not for our own glory, but for his glory.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for tuning in.
