- 0:03Speaker 1: You are straight up badass and slaying it.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Honey, slay honey.
- 0:13Speaker 3: She's sheen ami no me n no, what is your childlenge?
- 0:25Speaker 3: I have as.
- 0:29Speaker 1: You know, what's going down the floor like us around.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I feel like we need to migrate our rage over
- 0:44Speaker 2: to a new topic.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And maybe well look, girl, let's let's let's actually let's
- 0:51Speaker 1: bring it to a positive okay, Rose, this episode has
- 0:55Speaker 1: gifted us something that is absolutely invaluable, which is Chay
- 1:00Speaker 1: Dias is dead name and that that was so I shrieked, no,
- 1:08Speaker 1: we can say it, but Phoebe has I say no, no,
- 1:11Speaker 1: can I say something?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Say something problematic?
- 1:15Speaker 2: This is Patreon.
- 1:16Speaker 4: So I think Chay's stand up with their old presentation
- 1:23Speaker 4: was better than their current stand up when they were
- 1:25Speaker 4: like they're like men suck at I right, ladies, Like
- 1:29Speaker 4: that's funnier than any other comedy Chay has done on
- 1:33Speaker 4: the show. So I I disagree, but I know I'm
- 1:40Speaker 4: I'm not being no, Okay, but here's the thing, I
- 1:43Speaker 4: also am gonna kind of agree because because.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Just the bar was so low, so like, yeah, I
- 1:50Speaker 2: also thought.
- 1:51Speaker 4: That maybe that's what they were doing, like he was
- 1:53Speaker 4: gonna watch that video and was gonna be like, oh,
- 1:56Speaker 4: I used to be so funny, like let me get
- 1:58Speaker 4: back there, and instead it like, oh, most reinforced that
- 2:02Speaker 4: the comedy that they've been doing is bad.
- 2:05Speaker 1: See okay, yes, okay, okay, okay. When I was watching it,
- 2:08Speaker 1: the way I experienced it was, oh, Chads is now
- 2:11Speaker 1: watching Dead Name YouTube videos, which okay, relatable, every trans
- 2:15Speaker 1: person does this, like if you want to have a
- 2:17Speaker 1: nice little night in with your blunt and your trauma whatever,
- 2:20Speaker 1: But like when I was watching it, I was like, oh, like.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Phoebe Bleep, the Dead Name is really bombing.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Like That's how I was experiencing the comedy, Like the
- 2:31Speaker 1: laughter wasn't that strong, and like the punchlines were kind
- 2:36Speaker 1: of meandering, like it didn't feel like they were selling it.
- 2:38Speaker 1: They felt so out of their body, and I thought
- 2:40Speaker 1: that that's what the scene was trying to tell us.
- 2:43Speaker 2: It was like, oh, like Chay.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Used to be so like like you know, making material
- 2:48Speaker 1: that was like so not who they were and blah
- 2:50Speaker 1: blah blah, and so I thought that was going to
- 2:51Speaker 1: be an AHA moment to be like, don't go back
- 2:53Speaker 1: to where you came from, but instead it was in
- 2:55Speaker 1: AHA moment, that's like, that's the comedy that they should
- 2:58Speaker 1: be making again, Like what I didn't get it?
- 3:02Speaker 4: It was it was so weird, and I actually wish
- 3:06Speaker 4: a well, I think it would have been a more
- 3:08Speaker 4: interesting choice to be like, oh, when Chay was presenting differently,
- 3:15Speaker 4: like even if they didn't look the way that they
- 3:19Speaker 4: wanted to or ment or whatever, they had a better
- 3:23Speaker 4: grasp on what was funny or whatever, and it would
- 3:29Speaker 4: have been cool for them to like reclaim what they
- 3:34Speaker 4: were doing at that time, like with their current presentation
- 3:39Speaker 4: instead of I don't even know. It's like every everything
- 3:43Speaker 4: they try to introduce with Chay is like conflicting and confusing,
- 3:47Speaker 4: and I don't I don't understand. I just like I
- 3:52Speaker 4: don't think they should be this much of a character
- 3:54Speaker 4: on the show. Like I liked them as a foil
- 3:57Speaker 4: for Miranda. I actually thought that's where Miranda sees them
- 4:01Speaker 4: doing stand up and it's all about her. That is
- 4:04Speaker 4: effective for Miranda and it led to some good drama.
- 4:08Speaker 4: It does make me concerned that the two of them
- 4:10Speaker 4: are going to you know, in the last episode, but no,
- 4:15Speaker 4: that can't be. That's what's gonna happen because.
- 4:17Speaker 2: We have the envy.
- 4:18Speaker 1: We have the envy that's like, Oh, I'm sorry, can
- 4:20Speaker 1: I call you an envy?
- 4:21Speaker 4: That's so offensive?
- 4:22Speaker 2: It's like, what once.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Again was that.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Are Is it like the most famous thing about cha,
- 4:32Speaker 4: like in the world, that they are non bids? Yeah?
- 4:34Speaker 1: And I was like, but also it felt like the
- 4:36Speaker 1: way the way the scene was written, I actually really
- 4:39Speaker 1: want to deep dive deep into a lot of the
- 4:41Speaker 1: chay of it all.
- 4:42Speaker 2: If you want to go there with me for this.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Episode, I have a lot to say, so yes and
- 4:46Speaker 1: please yes. And that scene when the envy was like
- 4:53Speaker 1: I believe they said explicitly they said nothing hotter than
- 4:57Speaker 1: a strong envy person, which.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Which is the exact line.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I almost threw something on my TV.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I was like that and then the response was like
- 5:07Speaker 1: oh and then they were like, oh sorry, can I
- 5:09Speaker 1: call you endy? And the way it was written, I
- 5:11Speaker 1: was like, do the writers think that envy is like
- 5:15Speaker 1: some kind of slur or like it's like some kind
- 5:19Speaker 1: of like it's like different than just non binary. Yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 1: Like it was so so wild and obviously, sorry to
- 5:28Speaker 1: blow up your spot, but I'm gonna say it over
- 5:29Speaker 1: and over again, there are no non binary writers in
- 5:31Speaker 1: this writer's room. There are no like transmasculine writers in
- 5:35Speaker 1: this writer's room. There are no Latin people in this
- 5:38Speaker 1: writer's room. So it shows in scenes like this that
- 5:41Speaker 1: are I liked the part where.
- 5:44Speaker 4: That comment the comic was heckling the couple, Yeah, the
- 5:48Speaker 4: very obviously trans couple, and he was like, I'm trans,
- 5:53Speaker 4: Like yeah, we know.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It was so once again, the people writing this are
- 5:58Speaker 1: so cistion. It's so so frustrating how cisgender. The framing
- 6:06Speaker 1: and line deliveries, and and and and that you're that
- 6:11Speaker 1: is exactly I was gonna bring that up to ros.
- 6:12Speaker 1: It's just it drove me crazy. Also, the non binary
- 6:15Speaker 1: with a septum piercing wearing a newsboy's hat just after
- 6:19Speaker 1: Carrie war that newsboy's.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Hat two episodes ago.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Who is putting all of the Newsy hats.
- 6:26Speaker 4: On these characters, But honestly, that is the non binary
- 6:31Speaker 4: person wearing it does make it? Yes, it does? It does?
- 6:33Speaker 2: It does Carrie wearing it rotten, especially in that blanket.
- 6:38Speaker 2: The transmit of the crowd was so funny.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Oh my god, I'm a wait, can I can I
- 6:43Speaker 1: tell you something that's maybe gonna surprise you?
- 6:45Speaker 2: Though sure.
- 6:48Speaker 1: In this kind of fight that boiled down between Miranda
- 6:51Speaker 1: and Trey outside of the club, which I actually thought
- 6:55Speaker 1: was very interesting. And this I'd never ever want to
- 6:58Speaker 1: see MPK write a stand up material ever ever in
- 7:02Speaker 1: my life. But or anything or any sure, but in
- 7:06Speaker 1: this in this yes, But in this scene, Chay doing stand.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Up is necessary for the plot.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And I actually would have welcomed this scene if I
- 7:17Speaker 1: hadn't already watched so much bad stand up. But the
- 7:19Speaker 1: jokes weren't funny and they weren't even that mean, and
- 7:22Speaker 1: so the stakes weren't there for me. But at the
- 7:25Speaker 1: end of the day, on the character level, I think
- 7:29Speaker 1: Miranda is wrong and Chay was right.
- 7:32Speaker 4: What do you think Miranda's wrong about?
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think Miranda was wrong to show up without telling Chay.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's number one. If they were wrong to be mad
- 7:41Speaker 1: that Chay did a bunch of stand up about her,
- 7:44Speaker 1: because that is literally their job, which is to mind
- 7:48Speaker 1: their life for material, and they obviously never would have
- 7:51Speaker 1: done that material if they knew that Miranda would be there.
- 7:55Speaker 1: That doesn't mean that it's like, oh, Chay is just
- 7:59Speaker 1: mad that they got No, it's Chay is someone who
- 8:03Speaker 1: has to create material out of their life in order
- 8:05Speaker 1: to live. But they probably still care a lot about Miranda.
- 8:08Speaker 1: I'm sure they would tell Miranda to their face, Hey,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I'm making material about you, but I don't think you're
- 8:13Speaker 1: ready to see it, you know what I mean, Like
- 8:15Speaker 1: that would be a mature conversation.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it's about right and wrong, Like, yes,
- 8:21Speaker 4: Miranda should have told Chay she was coming, And it's like,
- 8:25Speaker 4: it's not about whether it's right for Chaye to mine
- 8:30Speaker 4: their personal life for comedy. It's about the emotion of
- 8:35Speaker 4: Miranda seeing that and being hurt by it, which honestly,
- 8:39Speaker 4: like is something that Miranda needed to experience at this
- 8:44Speaker 4: part of her journey. I think, I mean, I don't
- 8:50Speaker 4: want to talk about up mare, so I'm not gonna
- 8:53Speaker 4: investigate it too deeply. But I just I'm still like,
- 8:58Speaker 4: if next week is the last episode of this iteration
- 9:02Speaker 4: of the show, and I truly think it is, how
- 9:07Speaker 4: the fuck is Miranda's story going to end?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, because honestly, Chay has a bigger plotline than Miranda
- 9:13Speaker 1: at this point.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Like, yeah, if you want to hear all of our thoughts,
