- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Write us a review while you're there too.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And now, here's Steve and Jeff.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Well, thanks, Johnny and Jeff.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Great to be back.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Well, thanks.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And how's it going, Steve?
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Jeff, it's going wonderfully.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: We've got quite the show tonight, as you know.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: I'm very excited.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: I hear that uh we're gonna be revisiting Tony Ziegfield.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Yes, absolutely.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: World famous motivational speaker.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: He's gonna be back on the show tonight.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: We're revisiting our our earlier interview with him.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I wish we had had him on the show yesterday because an interesting thing happened.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I think I may have told you that I was going to be reading again for the uh voice box storytellers in Chicago.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, I could have used some help as a you know from a motivational speaker because you know you're up there.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You yeah, he's a pro.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: And he I think he could have helped me.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: It was a special event because it was celebrating uh Pride Month.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: So it was very emotional.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: You know, everybody who got up and told stories spoke from the heart and through personal experiences and things that they've overcome.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: So it was it was really quite the event.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So it was your story about like a relative that came out or some of a friend that came out or something.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Uh you know, sort of you're close.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: I actually told a story about a guy that I had picked up when I was Ubering, and he knew Frank Sinatra, so it was kind of about Frank Sinatra.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which well, and of course, most people don't know Frank, big supporter of the LGBT community, big ally.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Oh, Steve, it's just unbelievable, you know, the positions that he took back in the 60s and 70s.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: You know, he was so far ahead of his time.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: It was good, it was very emotional, and we could learn so much from Frank if we just go back and look at some of the things that he may have said.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Ring a ding-ding.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: And and like I said, when I was up there, you know, I was pretty comfortable, but I got a little bit of stage fright and you know, made me a little uncomfortable, and it kind of reminded me of of Tony.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: That's interesting because every reminds me of Tony, but also reminds me about an article that I read recently about a famous motivational speaker who, when he was younger, struggled with a bad case of stage fright and just had self-esteem issues and uh just dealt with this his whole life.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And he always he would avoid crowds, felt like he was being singled out if he was in a crowd.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So, well, one day he he wins this free ticket to the circus, and he decides, all right, I'm gonna go to the circus.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: What can go wrong?
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's a crowded place, a lot of people, but you know, it's a fun thing, right?
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: It's entertaining.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: He's a little nervous about it, but he went anyway.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: This was way, way out of his comfort zone.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: So between the acts, you know, there were the clowns come on kind of between the acts to kind of keep your keep your attention span from going too far away, right?
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: So one of the clowns is out there and grabs a microphone and says, We're giving a special prize to one lucky attendee.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: It's the attendee in section A, row 12, seat D.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And wouldn't you know it?
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that was this guy's seat.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: That was that was where he was sitting.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: So he says, Oh, that's me.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: So took all he could do to stand up.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: It took him a while.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: They thought, oh, maybe, maybe nobody's in the seat, but then they realized where the seat was.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: He said, No, the guy's sitting right there.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: He's in the seat.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So he stands up, ready for that big prize.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: When he gets up, the clown says, You're a big, stupid bozo.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: This is a circus.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: No one wins prizes in a circus.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Of course, you know, everybody laughs.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Everybody starts laughing and turns and runs out of there, runs home.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: And you know, on his way home, he thinks, you know, this event is going to define me one way or the other.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: It's either going to define me as someone who's afraid of this, or I'm going to conquer that fear.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: And this is going to be a watershed moment in my life.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Which do I want to do?
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And he said, You know what?
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: I'm going to defeat it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: This is going to be that watershed moment for me.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: So he says, I'm going to get confidence.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I'm going to be good in front of people.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Obviously, he never did any speaking.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: He had horrible stage fright.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: So I said, I'm going to become a speaker.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: So he studies public communications, uh, goes to community college.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Didn't a lot of money, but he went to community college, studied public communications, took speech, took debate, extemporaneous speech, anything you could do on public speaking, joins Toastmasters, he joined, you know, just all these things, anything where you can get up and talk, right?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So he eventually gets a degree in communications.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Starts speaking as a paid speaker, and he became a world-class motivational speaker.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: So one day, years later, he's been a motivational speaker, written books, traveled the world for years.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: And one day, once you know what the circus is in town, he says, you know, I'm gonna go back and I'm gonna show that I've grown, that I'm okay, that they can't hurt me anymore.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: So uh he goes to the circus and buys a ticket for for the circus, makes sure that he has that seat, that same seat, because he figures he figures this is a a trick.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: They always pick the same seat, and you know, of course they did, but these aren't like high art here, they just pick a seat, right?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: So he sit in that seat and the moment comes.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: The clown approaches a microphone and says, We're giving a special prize to the person sitting in section A, row 12, C D.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: He stands up ready for his big moment, and the clown's about to open his mouth, and the guy says, Fuck you, clown! He really showed that he had grown, that he'd gotten past that, that he was bigger than all that.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, let me let me just wipe that tear out of my eye here because that's a very motivational story.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: And Jeff, I bet you don't know who that famous motivational speaker was.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Tony Siegfried or Ziegfeld or Freed.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: No, actually, his name was Jonathan Swift.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: I tried to get him on the show, but he's booked up for like the next five years.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: So instead of getting hammered, I would play Tony's episode again, because you know, Tony's about on the same level, you know.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: It's been a lot of years since I've listened to that episode.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: So I'm interested to hear what it was about.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: I don't remember anything about it except that was there an issue about money or something?
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, money figured prominently in the show.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, it did.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: You know the less money, or I don't remember.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: So I guess we'll find it.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: It was more vice versa, but but you know, let's let's just play it and we'll we'll see.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll we'll get all those questions answered.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Let's say let's just play it.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Sounds good.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: I as you know, last week I was in sunny Southern California.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I didn't find the LAX.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I flew into that other one, you know, the other one down there, it's oh, it's named after that cowboy actor.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Um, oh, oh, yeah, Randolph Scott Airport.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Right, Randolph Scott Airport.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that went to Randolph Scott Airport.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: As soon as I landed at Randolph Scott, people approached me and they said, You're Steve of Steve and Jeff.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: It was wild, Jeff.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: One of the things that people don't understand because they can't see what we're doing is that we have up to now been sort of in this cocoon being in the studio, you know, kind of like when the Beatles stopped performing and then they went back into the studio.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: We sort of did it in reverse.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Now you and I are out there, and now we're all of a sudden realizing the impact that this show has had on people.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And it's just like beautiful butterflies, we have emerged from our mother's cocoon.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Yes, and uh my mom's cocoon is you know, that's a sensitive issue, so we can talk about that another time.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: When I was at Randolph Scott Airport, I got off the flight's a long flight.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I had to go to the restroom.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: As I'm walking to the restroom, this guy approaches me and says, Hey, you look like you got a lot of fans.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And the guy looks vaguely familiar.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I think I've seen this.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, yeah, we do.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I told him about the show and all that, and he says, I am an author and a nationally known motivational speaker, and I appear on a lot of podcasts.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: I said, Would you like to appear on our podcast?
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: And he said yes, and he's gonna be on today, Jeff.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: That's our guest.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Now, now he can't he couldn't be here in eccentric Lady Land Studios with us, so I can't tap on the old glass and you know annoy him.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: But he did zoom in, so he is here on Zoom with us.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: That's wonderful.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: I've got so many questions because you know, motivation is one of the strengths of of this show, but we could always get better.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: And if this is that good at it, you know, I'm sure he's got some tips or you know, just guidelines that we should be following.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: And our show motivates people already.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: So imagine if we have this motivational show with a motivational speaker.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Wow, this guy is world famous.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: He's the one.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: I know you've heard this.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: He's the one his his famous quote that he coined as the title of his first book, too.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: It's really how he became famous.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: I know you've heard this is the phrase only you are you.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Let me just absorb that for a second.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: I I just yeah, you really gotta think about where that hits you.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: He's got a new book out he's plugging.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: That's one of the reasons he's going on all these shows called The Richest Pudding in Byzantium.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: And I I'm just can't wait to read that one as well.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: So let me what I wonder if he'll I wonder if he'll follow up with uh like only me is me.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: You know, which is kind of uh, you know, that would that would make sense, or maybe when they make the movie, that would be the name of the movie.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: It'd be yeah, I'll tell you, I I did a little check.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I looked up Google Apathetics and and they said that people are tired of motivational speakers, but Google nobody cares what they say, right?
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: That's the thing about Google Apathetics, right?
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: So, but oh, you know that uh MMA fighter guy, I you know, he's not covering anything like this.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: He he went on that social media, you know, the social media platform that that guy bought, uh what's it called?
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Uh litter, litter, uh Twister.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: I don't, you know, you know that was it, Twister.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Right, Twister.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: I think that was it.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: And he talked about gaslighting and all this, and you know, and I don't think it's nice to talk about gaslighting in public that way.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: That's why we have Pepsi AC and Tagamet.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, come on, you don't need to talk about it.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: Come on, right?
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: Steve, you and I have known each other since we were 15.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: When we were 15, we did gaslighting.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: That was funny.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: That was the funny thing, right?
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you sit there, you but you know, when you're 55, you're big lighter.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Come on, you come on, please go up.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Right, yeah.
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: Well, we declared very excited to see this guy.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: What's this guy's name?
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: World famous motivational speaker and author.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: I know you've heard of him, Tony Zigfield.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, is he the guy with the lion in Vegas?
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: The was it Zig Tony Zigfield in Troy?
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Was that that's uh Tony and Zig, yeah.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay, but okay.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Let's uh let's let's bring him on uh Mr.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Zigfield.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Welcome to our show.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I hear his phone ringing.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: I hear something.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I hear something, but oh is there a bad connection here?
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know what?
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: Wait, wait, wait.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: I'm just I'm I'm getting something on my screen here.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: It's a message from Tony Zigfield.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: Wait, hope he's okay.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: It's in the Zoom chat here.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: It says, When I agreed to come on your show, I assumed it was a paid gig.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I only talk when I'm paid.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: Wow, so so wait, wait.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Well, I I guess we didn't quite cover all that on the way to the restroom there, but so Mr.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Ziegfield, does that mean that you won't answer our questions?
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, waiting more time.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: Maybe maybe he'll change his mind as we go.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Well, he says in the chat here is like, yes, I will answer, but I will only type the answers.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, that that kind of works.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: So, Mr.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Ziegfield, you're not going to say anything on the show.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Is that uh this must be he must have this pre-programmed?
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: This came out, he didn't even take time to type this one.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: This is one of those self-generated says, Until the eagle flies, I type replies.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right, okay, I get you there.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Well, well, this will be an interesting show on it, Jeff.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: But uh anyway, first time we've ever done this.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: Yes, right?
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: This is the first time.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: The closest thing was when my dad didn't show up for one show.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: But yeah, in this case, he's actually going to respond, which I think is okay, Steve, because you know, in some ways, when they say it verbally, you sort of lose it, right?
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: It kind of comes to you and then it's gone.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: In this way, he's writing it for us.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: We'll have a record of it, we'll have a transcript.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it sounds like we could gain a lot of valuable information and insight.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna learn so much from this, Jeff.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm very excited.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: I just want to jump right in here.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Uh, Mr.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Zigfield, you know, you're familiar a little bit with our setup here.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: And I know I asked you some questions uh when we were talking live about our show.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And I don't know, did you have any suggestions for Jeff and me for a way that we could make our show better?
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're expanding, we're doing a lot of cool things, but what else could we do?
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh, oh, oh, well, he's typing.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Oh here we go.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Uh he says uh teamwork makes the screams work.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, so I guess that means we should kind of work together on things.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, look, on the he's on camera on the zoom, he's not talking, but he's muted.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: But look, he's nodding.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Hey how's it going, Tony?
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Keep working together.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: He either waved or gave you the finger.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: I I'm not sure.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: I think he's mouthing duck.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Oh, wait, no, that wasn't a D.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Uh anyway, but I digress.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, anyway, Jeff, you you must have some questions for oh Tony.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: So many questions.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I guess my my first question is as a motivational speaker, how did you overcome stage fright?
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Which seems to be pretty debilitating for so many people.
- 13:34SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, I'm getting an answer here.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Okay, his answer is it's never too late to be what you never were.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's true.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: That's so beautiful.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: I mean, no wonder he is a nationally renowned motivational speaker.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, who could argue with that?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: He's worth the money we're paying.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's right.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: We're not paying him.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: You know, he would be worth the money we're gonna pay him if we So yeah, Mr.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: Zigfield.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: I know I bet you get this question everywhere you appear.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: And he you know, and he does those weekend training things where they I don't know, they put lighter fluid on their feet, or I don't know what something I I've heard stories, but anyway, you know, I I know you must get this question all the time.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Zigfield, what is the secret to success?
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Good question, Steve.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's taking this one seriously.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: He got right and I'm motivated to hear the answer.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Oh Steve, you got me.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: You got me.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, you just came up in the chat here.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: It says success is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent masturbation.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Wait, did I read that right?
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Well, well, well, Jeff.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Well, you must be a huge success then, Jeff.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know what to tell you.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: That's true, that's uh very true.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: Who would have thought?
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: In some ways, Steve, this might be the best interview we've ever done.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: I didn't think about it.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, just the the insights, the gems, the little breadcrumbs on the trail to success that he is leaving, dropping as if droppings from a bird, for example.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Just free will droppings.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: It's just amazing.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I have another question.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, uh, my question has to do with positioning.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of times motivational speakers, you see them and they're standing up on a podium, you know, they got the microphone in front of them.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Do you recommend standing or sitting when you're speaking?
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: Do you more casual or more formal?
- 15:32unknown: Okay.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: Let's see what he says here.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, I I don't know what it means, but it it's it feels seems deep.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: He says, uh, some see the glass as half empty.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: I see it as completely dirty.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's been in our kitchen, he's been in that break room, Jeff.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we still haven't cleaned up the mac and cheese my mom brought for Christmas.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's still sitting out there.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: But and Steve, I think he's at a higher level than us.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: I don't think the word dirty necessarily means what we think it means.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: It no, that would be something maybe we if I read his book, then I'll have a better understanding of that.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: But you know, on the surface, it's something I need to just absorb.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: And you know, I haven't read his book, but it's got a really nice cover, and it had an interesting blurb on the back that I read I read part of.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: But uh, you know, Jeff, we got a ton more to talk about with him.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: But Jeff, we have a repeat sponsor tonight.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Jeff, you remember the our good friends at Goucher Financial, who uh, you know, the FU money that they thought it'd be great to come back and do another commercial with us.
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: And you know, it's a little ironic that it's that they're doing this commercial on a uh a night when money seems to be an issue for our guests, but let's just let's just go to commercial.
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's great.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: I used to be our stake money.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Still like it, still it's be my money.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: You want to make money, we want to help.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was uh it's interesting because I'm so jacked up and motivated.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: And then you play the commercial about making money.
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: A money?
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, and I'm just ready to go.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I think our guest was even motivated by that commercial because during the commercial, during the commercial break, I got something on the chat.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: He typed in F you.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, so he's paying attention.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: He's paying attention, he knows about the FU money.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Very good.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Do you have any more questions, Steve?
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, like oh, I do, yes.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Zigfield, really, everybody wants success, but you know, a lot of times things don't work out.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: What's the best way to come back from a failure?
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: You know, when you have a failure, what do you do?
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: What do you do?
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh, oh, oh, these must be pre-programmed too.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: He gets these questions a lot too.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: But he actually put two, he answered two sentences here.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: He's got wait, he was says failure is just a stepping stone to your next failure.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, all right.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: And then he says, uh, if you make a mistake, make another one right away, so everyone will forget the first one.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: You know, I just kind of been unconsciously doing that most of my life, really.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: I just I didn't know that was a strategy.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, I just kind of did that, you know.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: And I'm a little jealous.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: You got two answers out of him for one question, which I haven't had yet.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: So I'm hoping that maybe my next question will motivate him to answer it.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, Jeff, he motivates others, he doesn't get motivated.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess I guess money is the motivator to talk at least.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: He's nodding, look, he's nodding on the camera.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Look at this.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: Look at this guy.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Wow, but I digress anyway.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Jeff, you were saying, Yeah.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: So my question has to do, you know, as somebody who is considers themselves a performer like I do, is it best to dress up for performances or can you dress casual?
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Oftentimes I come in a tuxedo when I'm with a big group, smaller groups.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: I tend to be just wearing, you know, a suit and tie.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm just wondering what goes with the most motivating feeling that you can give somebody in terms of what you wear.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Ah, those keys typing.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: He's he's he sounds motivated.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: He's going like crazy.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: He sounds motivated there.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Whoa.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Here's here's the answer.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: Um, the best way to begin is to stop for coffee and talk about it a lot more.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: I and he's a little confused.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: Am I wearing a suit when I get coffee?
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: You could really you'd stand out at the Starbucks, but I bet you could.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: And Jeff, there again, see, we've been doing that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: We're kind of following this unconsciously.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: We're kind of following the path to success.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Because whenever we have something, some idea, we say, well, let's not do it yet.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: And we go get coffee and we talk for like another six months or so, right?
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: And you know what, Steve, we may need to come back next week and go through these answers in more detail to really understand what the essence, you know, what he was saying, it's like the Maharishi, right?
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: You they tells you something and you don't really understand it, and you go back and you think about it and you study it.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: And there's just a lot for uh you and I to absorb.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: We're gonna need to do that if we want to continue to grow.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think Tony's help.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: I think Tony is it he is a kind of our own Maharishi, if you will.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: And maybe we're we're Lennon McCartney here.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: You know, we'll we'll debate who's who.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: And we're there at his feet getting this.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Wisdom.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Tony, this has just been so helpful.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: And it just goes to show you that words can sometimes get in the way, the spoken word.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Because look how helpful he's been.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: And he hasn't said a thing.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: But yeah, it says so much.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, it says so much.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: That's exactly right.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: That's it exactly.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: You know, Tony, some people just really are looking for a good way to start the day.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: What's the best way to start the day if you want your day to be a success?
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, he's uh here he goes.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: Let's see.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: He is moving.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Oh now he's he's kind of chuckling.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: I can see him.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Why I'm typing this okay.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Uh he says And he's actually typing the chuckling.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know if you've ever seen that.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's says you've got to wake up with energy if you want to go to bed with someone.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, it makes sense, right?
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: That's what I've always heard.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: You have a question for Tony?
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: My question has to do with the audience.
- 22:53SPEAKER_01: Tony, when you're getting ready to speak before an audience, do you have any input or do you have any recommendations on the types of people that you would speak to?
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Are there some that are more easily motivated, some that are less easily motivated?
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, how does that work for you?
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Uh, let's see.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: He's taking this one kind of seriously.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: He's kind of stuck that he's had the smirk.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, you we're not on video, so nobody can see this.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: He's really had this smirk the entire show, but he's dropped the smirk.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: Look at that.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: Well, here we go.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: You are not the result of your circumstances, you're the result of random blanking chance.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: And I'm not gonna say the word because you know, Steve, we've we got some five-year-olds that are listening to the shows.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: We do that's zero to five demographic.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: We are we're a huge hit there.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Although it sounds like based on the way this show is going, that Tony just gave us the F-word too.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: But you know, but again, well, I think he did giving us wisdom, and but yeah, but it sounds like he uh he likes to use that word too.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe sometimes that's language that motivates.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: That's what it takes.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: It gets them out of their comfort zone, gets them out of their comfortable chairs, gets them out of their comfortable hammocks, gets them out of their auto zones or wherever they might be, and just really gets them moving.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: You know, Tony, I just have to ask, is there a possibility that you would come back on our show?
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Now, we we don't have a big budget like some of those shows you've been on.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, you've been on some of those national shows, those big conventions where they rent out ballrooms at the Ritz-Carlton or whatever.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: You know, I mean, I you know, we're not gonna be able to do that, Tony.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: But is there a chance that you would come back on the show and answer our questions?
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe even take questions from listeners.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, gosh, he's he's already done.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Look at this.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: He's already he says uh no.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Oh, wow.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: That was quicker than I would have thought.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: And as a somebody who wants to work with the best people in the world, you would probably go with the most popular people.
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: And Steve, you and are the most popular people uh in podcast world.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: And uh so I think that he would benefit Tony would benefit from working with us.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: Jeff, I wasn't 10 feet out of the gate arriving at Randolph Scott Airport when people were swarming all around me.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: It's almost like they knew I was coming.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Hey, Steve, I don't know if you're noticing this, but Tony's got his eyes closed.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: I think he's in a Zen trance.
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: And there may be some sort of words of wisdom that's gonna come out as a result of that.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: But he looks like he is not with us right now, that he is somewhere else in a you know, a higher state.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm hoping that that we'll see something from that.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: I think he has ascended.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: And maybe, maybe what he's thinking about in that meditative state is maybe he's thinking, hey, these guys are not motivational speakers, they're comedy guys.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: So maybe he's he's probably thinking, and you know, you gotta think the way these guys think in these phrases that are gonna catch on, right?
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: So he's thinking, maybe I should turn my rah-rah, flip it around, and turn it into har har.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, what do you think?
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: I bet that's what he's thinking.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: That could be true.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: Now, oh uh uh he's waking up, or at least he's opening his eyes and he's writing us something, and this might be wherever he is during that time.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Wow, you know, no, not with us.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: He's here's what he's bringing.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Directions to Nirvana.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: So he says the road to success is blurred out on Google Maps.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: You know, this is worth the wait.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: To me, that might be the best piece of advice that I've heard.
- 26:41SPEAKER_01: Obviously, he's working hard at it by closing his eyes, and oh yeah, you know, controlling his breathing.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: I think maybe he is actually dropping his heart rate down to zero as part of that.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: You know, I don't and it it's amazing to watch the process.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Just the beauty, the poetry, the simplicity of that phrase that the implication that no, your technology won't help you unless you know where you're going.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's brilliant.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Now I remember what happened.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's all coming back to me a little bit.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: He actually never spoke in the interview, but but you know, Steve, it it really turned out well without him speaking.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: I'm kind of wondering whether we should do more of that and just have people on that don't talk.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: That is such a great idea because sometimes guests say the wrong thing, or sometimes they say things that they can't tie up, or it's bad grammar, or they just all these pauses.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: It'd be so much easier if they just didn't talk at all.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Well, I think sometimes guests get in the in the way of an interview.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: You know, they want half that interview time or more.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: They want more.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: That's just not right.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe we should try it again sometime.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: I really enjoyed the episode.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Let's try it starting next week.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: What do you say?
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Sounds good.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Hey, I will see you then, Jeff.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: And hey, we're not talking.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: All right, Steve.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Or not.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: Don't ask what I have to say.
