And finally, it's time for the Fat Bike Event of the Week. Fat Bike Event of the Week is... Fat Bike Worlds Fat Bike Worlds is- Crested Butte Sponsored by Borealis Fat Bikes, our friends there in, uh, where are they at?
• 2:02
Colorado Springs, that's right. And the official dressing room of Led Zeppelin. Indeed. So, uh, maybe some of you folks don't know out there, but, uh, the winner of Fat Bike Worlds is gonna get [laughs] branded. Branded.
• 2:17
So, uh, yeah, there's another reason why Uncle Gomez is not gonna race in that race. Sounds like, uh, sounds like Brad Bingham is going for the brand. Yeah, no doubt.
• 2:28
Uh, I'm sure, uh, Weens and Travis Brown, and you can't count Ned out either. I don't know if he's gonna be there, but- It says that they've both got over 150 racers registered already
• 2:41
But, uh, here is a, here's a discount code that, uh, has my name in it, FatBikeGomez. Uh- [laughs]... 56% off. FatBikeGomez. Yeah, that's- that's the discount code, so register today.
• 2:57
Use, uh, use your Uncle Gomez's Fat Bike, uh, discount code and roll the dice, you know? You too could, uh, end up with a big, what is that? What's that brand? FBW on your butt. Where would you get the brand?
• 3:13
On my neck, yeah. I think I- [laughs] Yeah. Get- Right on the hiney [laughs] On the spot where my ass should be. [laughs] Tragically born without a rump. Yeah, that would be frigging rad.
• 3:28
[laughs] Hey, you know where we're at? Top of the hill. Top of the hill. Oh, yeah. What do you got? Oh, that one. That one. The green one. The green one. The, uh, the Founder's All Day IPA.
• 3:43
I'll go with the Shampoo of Beers, the Old Miller. [laughs] Shampoo. [laughs] I'm drinking some fancy San Pellegrino pomegranate and blood orange elixir that, uh, Fatty Lumpkin turned me on to up there at Cuyuna.
• 4:00
This is delicious soda. It has, like, an extra layer of protection. Yeah. It has a little foil condom, so- [laughs] Only factory rat piss has been on the top of my can.
• 4:11
[laughs] No, there's- there's- there's no common warehouse rat piss on there- [laughs]... just strictly factory. Hey. This is Italian rat piss. [laughs] Here's a cheers to Italian factory rat piss. Yee-haw. Yee-haw.
• 4:24
Yeah. Well, let's take a quick break here- Ah... before we open the floodgate of phone calls and start the pageant for the best bike of 2015.
• 4:34

• 5:23
And we're back from that quick break there. Let's take a call. Should we do that? Yeah, let's take a call. Welcome to the radio program. Who do we have on the line? Hi, this is Keith from Sun River. Hi, Keith.
• 5:37
How's it going? Good, guys. How have... Uh, you really do exist. [laughs] Contrary to popular wisdom, we shouldn't exist- [laughs]... but we do. I actually exist in several parallel intersecting, uh, dimensions.
• 5:54
So have you called to tell us your favorite gnome of 2015? I'll do the favorite fat bike of 2015- Oh, oh, oh, fat bikes... for me, at least. This is, this is the Fat Bike Show, right? Yeah. Yeah.
• 6:05
We do the gnome show after this one Just less bearded. [laughs]Uh, for me, I, I use the Norco Sasquatch, and I love that fricking bike. I mean, at 6'5", you know, man, uh, you know, it's got great reach.
• 6:20
I love everything about it. I know it, you know, it's not as popular in, uh, you know, different areas of the US, but up here in the Northwest, man, that is just a killer bike for our trails. Nice.
• 6:33
That's, that's the Squatchiest bike on the market, man. And plus, you're kinda like, you're short of- You're sorta like a short Squatch at 6'5". Criminy. [laughs] Yeah. That's something... exactly, exactly.
• 6:45
[laughs] That's very cool. So, uh, thanks for voting. We're, uh, we're f- we're looking for a pen right now so we can record your vote. And Sven's got the pen. For the Sasquatch. For the Squatch. I'm coming back.
• 6:58
The Norco Squatch. All right. The Norco Squatch. Yeah, that's something we just don't see in the Midwest. I know it's, uh, it's a good bike, but, uh, we just don't get to see them around these here parts right now.
• 7:09
I know. I see pictures of them, though. Yeah, I got a... It was a referral for me. I mean, I didn't, I didn't even know that much about Norco, the brand. Mm-hmm. Even though, you know, we're here in Oregon,
• 7:20
uh, I've been contact- I've been talking to you, Gomez, just, you know, just back and forth on emails and stuff.
• 7:24
But on my weight loss journey, for me, I, you know, wanted to find a bike that could handle a guy that was bigger, 'cause at one point, uh, I was almost 500 pounds.
• 7:35
So I needed a good, strong frame, good bike that, you know, if you're gonna invest in and, you know, that I was slowly gonna get back into mountain biking and stuff that, you know, that I could use, that I could change and modify.
• 7:49
'Cause, like, during the summer it's a 27.5+ bike. Mm-hmm. But then in the winter here, you know, it's a full-on fat bike. So I definitely, you know, more tools for the toolbox, keep, keep, keep busy, keep active.
• 8:02
And, you know, so far I've lost, uh, 168 pounds just by eating better and, you know, getting active, and having those tools like that to- That's so cool... to keep going and staying busy. Right on.
• 8:13
And, and fat bikes really do seem to be a, uh, a good channel for, for folks to lose weight. Yeah, for sure. And 163 pounds, you didn't just lose weight, you lost a person, dude. Yeah, pretty much. More than my wife.
• 8:28
Yeah. Yeah, I went from a, a Sasquatch to, you know, like, a little bit less. [laughs] [laughs] So, uh, Keith, h- how, how f- do you know where the Wanago Snowpark is? Yeah. It- Yeah, Wanoga? Wanoga. Yes. Okay.
• 8:41
Yeah, th- we, we- Yep... try to say Indian names here and we mess them up, too, but, uh, Wanoga Snowpark. [laughs] Is, is that, is that in your neighborhood there in central Oregon? Yeah.
• 8:50
So, so that's 15 minutes away from me. Um, you know, I'm really good friends with Gary and those guys who do the grooming up there. Uh, so I get to ride it in the summer, I get to ride it in the winter.
• 9:01
I actually bought snowshoes this year, just that way I could stomp in my own. You know, I pull a sled with some weight behind me and- Cool...
• 9:09
I can do my own, I have my own, uh, circle track just by my, my house here, 'cause we're backed up to forest land everywhere we are around here. So it's, it's awesome, man. I got a great loop that I do.
• 9:19
But yeah, then we bounce up to Wanoga. We got a long and a short trail, and we're about to have a fat bike triathlon with, uh, corn hole as the challenge game that everybody did. [laughs] Nice. Nice.
• 9:30
A shot, you have to take another lap, which is just awesome. I mean- Wow... uh, and we've had a ton of snow. We've had 78 inches so far since No- uh, since December. Uh, or, you know, from December 1st to now- Nice...
• 9:45
we're at 78 inches. You know, so- Is that common- Ton of snow... or are you just getting slammed this year? We're just getting slammed.
• 9:50
I mean, you know, when, when El Nino hits, man, that is, like, when it is the best for us, 'cause our snow levels...
• 9:57
And that w- I, that's me at 5,000 feet up at the mountain where Wanoga is and stuff, that they're, I think they had 118-inch base- Wow... up there, so. Yowza.
• 10:07
Yeah, I mean, you know, you definitely don't wanna go off track. [laughs] It is deep. You, you just disappear. [laughs] My wife, who's 5'2", I'll lose her. [laughs] Wow. Take, take along a rope. Well, very cool.
• 10:22
Yeah, [laughs] exactly. Spelunking. [laughs] Hey, uh, next week we're gonna continue the pageantry with, uh, votes for the best fat bike product of the year. It's fat bike specific stuff like tires, rims, accessories.
• 10:38
Accessories. If you, if you have a vote next week, give us a shout back. Hey, thanks so much for taking my call. Hey, no problem, Keith. Keep up the good work, and, uh, thanks for the positive vibes through the email.
• 10:48
And, uh, you know, uh, I, I, I have, I'm speechless. [laughs] That's such a g- such an awesome, uh, achievement you've done and, um, here's cheers to your health. Cheers. Talk to you again. Cheers. Talk to you guys soon.
• 11:05
All right, man. Bye. Hey, uh, while we're, uh, waiting for a caller here, you wanna, you wanna do a frile thing? [laughs] Ah. Do you have a, do you have a, do you have a frile for this week? Speaking of grooming.
• 11:16
[laughs] Nice, nice segue there, Mr. Segue. [laughs] Saturday night it snowed right by us, you know, a nice, fluffy, officially measured 1.7 inches.
• 11:30
So I got up Sunday morning thinking, "Booyah, we're gonna go out and we're gonna get fresh tracks." Fresh tracks. Yeah, so our, uh, our local trail group has a newbie that's, uh, in charge of grooming. And, uh- Don-...
• 11:44
they decided to close, keep the trails closed till noon
• 11:50
and groom 1.7 inches of snow, which was perfectly ridable, because I have a test track in my, in my yard where, you know, I tromp it in, I groom it with snowshoes, and I ride it, right? It- Right. You know,
• 12:06
you gotta have some place, some way to know if your tire pressure is right. Well, I got a little test track that I s-...
• 12:12
this single track in my yard Isn't that 1.7 inches, like, less than the depth of the groomer's grooves? Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. So I saw the guy grooming, and I thought, [laughs] I gotta see.
• 12:25
'Cause I'm riding the whole time thinking, "Who in God's name would steal these perfect rideable fresh snow conditions from me and my fat bike brethren and sisteren and, and, and cousinen?"
• 12:43
Tenen. Yeah. So I see the dude. I'm like, "Dude, you should be riding your bike. You don't have to do this. You know? If, when you can ride, you don't have to groom." And he, uh, he, he told me basically...
• 12:57
And this guy's, he's, he got a fat bike the week before Global Fat Bike Day, so he's had a fat bike [laughs] for six weeks. Oh, he call you fucking crazy.
• 13:05
[laughs] He said, he said I didn't know what the fuck I was talking [laughs] about. And put some damn pants on. [laughs] And I, you know, I, I never wear pants. But, um, and [laughs] he told me that I was fucking crazy.
• 13:21
And you know, one out of two is not bad, 'cause I am pretty crazy. But [laughs] I think that if you can ride your bike, I mean, it was just, like, perfect riding conditions. It was 1.7 inches of snow on top of, like,
• 13:38
boiler plate frozen. It was perfect. Yeah. But I s- then I thought about it as like, well, I really am crazy, and maybe he just needed to practice driving that ro-con around. Maybe. You know?
• 13:53
And, you know- Maybe he's in a motorcycle club. Maybe. He told me he had been a snowmobiler for 10 years. That's crazy. Yeah. So did you say, "Dude, for real?" I said, "Bye bye, I'm riding now.
• 14:09
I don't wanna argue about this. And thanks for noticing that I'm crazy, sir." Right on. [laughs] Hey. For real. We got, we got another caller on the line here. Oh, vote number two.
• 14:20
I won- I wonder if they know if you're crazy or not. [laughs] Hey, welcome to the radio program. Who do we have on the line? Yeah. My name's Seth. I'm from Mason City, Iowa. Seth.
• 14:29
I, s- for some reason, I get news about Mason City pretty often. I used to go through there on my, my job. Maybe it's still in one of my, uh, my- Is that where mason jars are from? [laughs] My RSS feeds. No.
• 14:40
There seems to be a lot of crazy stuff going on there. [laughs] Fires and people getting murdered and all sorts of crazy stuff. Well, I guess that's the news, right? You always hear about the wacky stuff. Right.
• 14:50
You never hear about, you know, like, the best candy and stuff. Right. Mason City's where I took a- Right, yeah... a right when I was going north so I could head over to Decorah. Oh, I like Decorah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep.
• 15:01
Yeah. Yep. Decorah's about a hour and 30 minutes from here or so. Yeah. Been riding over there for sure. Yeah. Uh, Robin Bennett, that was a guy in Mason City there, had a shop.
• 15:10
I don't know if he's still around, but it was a good bike shop. Yeah. Yep, he still is. And I, I actually work, uh, at Wayne Ski and Cycle, which is another shop in town here. So- Right on.
• 15:20
Are they- So we're, uh, so- Are they Ducatti fans like Robin is or no? [laughs] 'Cause Ro- Robin's big in- No, we- Big into Dukes, I think. Yeah...
• 15:28
we do, yeah, we, we do the pedal-powered bikes more, but, uh- Oh, sure... I know Robin's dad has a, and, and Robin both, um, have a, like, a background in motorcycle racing as well. So those guys- Okay...
• 15:37
have been, been in that game for a while, so. So what do you think? Do you have a vote for the fat bike of the year? I do.
• 15:45
Um, and, and I have a lot of fat bikes, uh, especially having worked at a shop for almost 16 years. Um, and I love all of them.
• 15:54
Um, uh, m- matter of fact, my single speed Moonlander is about a foot away from me right now. We just got done from a ride. I'm sitting in the park drinking a beer [laughs] at my bike path home. Do you have pants on?
• 16:04
[laughs] Um, I, well, I don't know. They're tight pants. Do those count? Oh. [laughs] No, those are called tights. They're not called pants. [laughs] They're the required uniform. Yeah, I was gonna know.
• 16:14
Or, or stretchy pants. Right. Tights. Yeah, so if they don't count as pants, then I definitely don't have pants on. [laughs] Yeah, yeah. Okay, go ahead. [laughs] Cast, cast your vote.
• 16:24
Uh, but I would, I would say, though, my, my vote for the bike is, is, is our, um, Ventana El Jefe, uh, fat bike- Oh... uh, my wife and I have had since July.
• 16:37
And we have, in almost 10 years of marriage, ridden more in the last less than a year together than we have in all of the, the time leading up until that, because we have that tandem, and it's been awesome.
• 16:49
Do you ever let, do you ever let the little lady captain?
• 16:52
Um, well, it's not like I haven't let her, but, yeah, I think we, we're sized disappropriately enough that, that, uh, she hasn't ridden up front yet, but I would be down to do it.
• 17:01
You know, it would be more aerodynamic if you put the little lady up front maybe. If you're tall enough, then you'd be able to see- It's perhaps... over her. Yeah, that's a good point.
• 17:09
We've gone down some things that she has said, "I've seen completely over the top of you, and if it's possible to endo this thing, we almost did it." So- We, uh, we got a Sawzall here in the shop.
• 17:18
So I think a little, little- We could cut that sucker in half and then- [laughs] Yeah... glue it back together with you in the, you in the back and her in the front.
• 17:24
We could even probably work out some sort of rear steering thing, but, uh- I think so. Yeah. Like that, that backward steering bicycle, you could steer it from the back or something. Yeah. Right on.
• 17:34
So you're not, you're not- Yeah... the only El Jefe owner there in Iowa, are you? 'Cause I think we had a story on the site- No, it could be... from, uh, from Patrick.
• 17:42
He had that, uh, the moo- the, uh, the moo cow looking, uh- Yeah... El Jefe fat bike there. Yep, yep, I remember reading that. That was pretty rad. Uh, it's, I, I love the, the cow spots.
• 17:54
That's a good, good Midwest theme. Are you gonna be able to do RAGBRAI on the tandem? Um, you know- Fat bike... I grew up doing RAG- I actually r- grew up, uh, doing RAGBRAI, uh, doing the stoker gig.
• 18:07
Um, my mom and I had a Burley tandem, and I- Uh-huh... started when I needed the kiddie crank in the back. Sure. So I've, I've been across Iowa a lot of times on a tandem [laughs] just, just from the back seat.
• 18:17
That explains your tandem fetish right there. Well, yeah, maybe. As a mechanic, like, I'm n- never thrilled when a tandem comes in the shop. I'm like, "Oh man, this is twice the junk to work on." [laughs] But, [laughs]
• 18:30
um, so I, I'm actually surprised that I own a tandem, but, uh, it's, it's a, it's a ton of fun. All right. Um, we really like it.
• 18:37
Here's, here's a pop quiz: Would you rather work on a tandem, or would you rather work on, say, a carbon tri-bike? Like, what, what would be, like, [laughs] one of those diving board ones, a soft ride tri-bike. Oh, dude.
• 18:53
Oh, come on, man. I'd rather work on a recumbent tandem than work on one of those things. [laughs] At least- All right... at least all the cables are on the outside of the frame. There you go.
• 19:01
You know, it might be longer, but you can get to them. Yeah. Make, make your mechanic happy. Put your cables on the inside. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Put them in there.
• 19:09
That's, that's, uh, electronic shifting wins, um, when that happens. I saw, I saw something on Instagram. I saw the Bluetooth shifting, and, uh- Yeah... they were just moving the, the shifting levers on the, on...
• 19:23
it was all detached from the bike. Yeah. And the derailleur would just sit there on the desk going click, click, click, click, click, click. [laughs] That'd be like, "Hey. Hey, Siri.
• 19:30
Shift already, you stu- " Wait, can we just get a app for that? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Siri shifts. That'd be good. Yeah. The spinal implant is coming soon. I'm sure. What do you think about it? Yeah. Technology.
• 19:42
You plug right into the bike, then, then people won't laugh at me- Yeah... for not wearing pants. [laughs] All right, man. That's right. Well, thanks, thanks for your vote. We got another caller on the line here.
• 19:52
Uh- Thanks, man... call, call back any time, tell us what's going on in Mason City. Right on. Thanks, fellas. Stop by. If you're in town, we'll take you out on the trails. You bet. All right. Sounds good, man. All right.
• 20:01
Mason City, here we come. All right. [sings] Do dah, do dah. Cheers. [sings] Mason City, here we come. Put 'em up like pirates. Show us the seedy, the seedy underbelly of Mason City.
• 20:09
Seedy underbelly of, uh, Anchorage, Alaska, thank you very much- Oh, boy... is, is on the line. Is this Travis, do you think? Hey, guys. Welcome to- You are fucking crazy.
• 20:18
[laughs] You should've kicked that guy's ass, man. Who's grooming your freshies? You should've kicked his ass. Grooming my freshies.
• 20:26
I know, but, you know, I, I really shouldn't 'cause, well, there's another, he's another old, fat guy, and, you know, there's just nothing more pitiful than- Yeah...
• 20:36
two, two old, fat guys- Slapping each other like [laughs]... slapping each other and then rolling around on the ground.
• 20:41
And then there's that awkward moment where you just, you're so tired and out of breath, you just, like, wanna give up, and then you're, like, just both, you both skulk away from one another. Like, "I don't like you.
• 20:52
You're mean." [laughs] We just avoided all that, and I was like, "Well, all right. I am crazy, but I sorta do know that I can ride this trail just fine." He was all like, "What's wrong with that?"
• 21:05
I'm like, "I think you're missing the point. It's like, see those things? Those...
• 21:10
If you, if you're grooming the snow, and it, that back plate is not making a solid piece of snow, then there ain't enough snow to groom, motherfucker." But, uh, yeah. True. I mean, yeah.
• 21:24
That's probably, you know, probably where he got the idea that I was crazy, 'cause- Mm... I started talking like Chris Rock there, [laughs] or whoever that was in my head. Uh, yeah, some guy in your head.
• 21:36
So Travis, my boy. Yeah. Uh, do you have a vote for the,
• 21:43
uh, gender neutral fat bike of the universe 2015, that instead of saying Miss or Mister, we're going with gender unified, gener- [laughs] gender non-specified? What's the term we're looking for? Pansexual?
• 22:01
Oh, the pansexual- Pansexual... [laughs] fat bike of the universe 2015. Does that change your vote? Uh, no, I do have a vote, but before I reveal that- Oh... I just wanna give you guys a quick update. Oh.
• 22:14
The Frosty Bottom is on for this Saturday. Oh. Uh, we got an inch of, about an inch of snow yesterday. Did you groom it? [laughs] And it is dumping out right now. Uh, yeah, actually, with my, uh, tires.
• 22:26
I just got done going back on my little private track, and, uh, for about two hours doing laps, and while I was doing laps, every lap it was getting snowed over, so. That's, that's how- Yeah, packed it down...
• 22:37
you might be a fat biker. You might be. If you have a test track in your yard that you groom, you might be a fat biker. You might be a fat biker. We're, uh, we're working.
• 22:47
Yeah, we're, we're ripping off Jeff- I'd, I'd have to-... Jeff Foxworthy... I'd have to have bank turns on mine 'cause my yard's kinda small, so I'd have to go really fast and just be like, "Wah, wah, wah, wah."
• 22:56
What was that thing called? The cyclodrome or something? If you have a pump track in your pants, [laughs] you- When you wear them. [laughs] If indeed you are wearing pants. Oh, yeah. I have jeans on today. It's crazy.
• 23:08
So the, so the race is on. [sings] The race is on. So are you- Yeah. I called in, uh-... are you doing the, the long or the short version?... to the city actually. What's that? Are you in the long or the short version?
• 23:18
Uh, I'm covering it for you guys. Oh. Hey. I'm gonna be all over the, I'm gonna be all over the place with my camera. So- I, I love doing races, being the guy that's covering it with my camera. Yeah.
• 23:29
That's gonna be- Yeah. Get to go out there and ride at my leisure. Yeah. Have fun. That's a long race, Travis. That's a- Big course...
• 23:35
yeah, this thing's spread out enough, I'll, I'll be running around town in my truck like Gomez did when, uh, when he was out covering it. I stopped and got a haircut at one point during that race. Yeah.
• 23:45
[laughs] Which hair did you get cut? Uh, all of them, and they did a pretty nice job. I was like, "Fuck yeah, Alaskan haircut." All right. My beard got two inches longer, and the hair on my head got cut off.
• 24:00
It was pretty killer. Nice. So- That's an Alaskan haircut. That's my joke. Ah, yeah. [laughs] So Travis- So, uh-... spill, spill it, bro...
• 24:14
the, uh, my fat bike, my fat bike of 2015, you know, I only test rode a few of the 2015 rides. Uh-huh. I gotta go with that fat back Skookum, man. Oh, well, Skookum. Gotta go with the Skookum. Skookum. Yeah.
• 24:28
With that, uh, blue, green, white paint job. Oh, yeah. That is a beautiful bike. Have to agree. I, I think that, I, I think I would go with the black and white one myself just so I could turn it into a cop bike.
• 24:42
[laughs] Get some police stickers on there and pull kids over and take their weed away. Right on. Woo! So do you have, do you have a, does Gomez have a, a pick for this, uh, pageant?
• 24:58
I'm gonna go with the Kona Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. [laughs] Whoa. That's just out of left field. Just kidding. No, I, no, that's my vote. Kona Whoa.
• 25:11
They had the, it, it's like the, the mid-price and it do- it clicks all the boxes, man. Yeah, we got a, uh, we got a review coming up next week, or a, a reader's ride.
• 25:20
It's not a review, but this is a guy's second Whoa, and he got it because it's now Bluto compatible and he did- Right... like head wheels and it's a, it's a, a gnarly build on a Whoa. It's the blue Whoa, man.
• 25:32
It's a Whoa, yeah. So their third, their third try, they, they ticked off all the boxes. They made it Bluto compatible, I think was the last thing, and they, uh... That's a badass bike. And it's an affordable bike.
• 25:46
It's probably one of the better on the lower end of the part spec, an, an entry level bike that actually still works well. Yeah.
• 25:52
I mean, if, if I were spending my own money on a bike, [laughs] it'd probably be the bike I could afford, so there you go. Yep. Instead of that chi-chi Rodriguez bike I, I ride now, like my NASCAR bike.
• 26:08
It's really not that NASCAR though. It's a good color now at least. It's true. It's, you can say that because [laughs] it's the same color as your bike. Uh, some of 'em. Yeah. [laughs] You do have an orange bike too.
• 26:20
I got... I, I don't even have an orange bike anymore. I got blacks and, and purples. Yeah. Kinda like a, a bruise. I have a- [laughs] I have a black Krampus now and a black Crosscheck.
• 26:32
All I need is a black Pugsley or the black Krampus Ops, and I would have like black Surly across the board. Gravel, not quite gravel, but off-road, and then omni-terrain. All right, man.
• 26:48
Well, we got a, Travis, we got a couple more calls here. We're gonna roll on down the screening queue. Travis, you rock. Don't ever shave and, uh, say hi to your mom for me. Will do. Talk to you soon, bro.
• 27:02
All right, bye. All right. Oh, way to cut him off. [laughs] Hey, welcome to the radio program. Who do we have on the line? Hey, it's Gnome TV. Get out of here. Say stuff. [laughs] Oh, it's Pyrone.
• 27:19
Oh, Pyrone. Dude, I went riding out at- Yeah... Silver Lake and somebody drove that Broncon all over the trails just like in some sort of joy ride. Was that you?
• 27:29
Well, you know, there's, there's some people out there that are testing new tires and shit. You know, they, they need a groomed trail with an inch of snow. [laughs] Atta boy.
• 27:40
And, and that might just be your next caller, who I, uh, just, just rode with. Really? Did you ride with the guy?
• 27:47
[laughs] Did he bend your ear about the, the old fat guy that told him, "What are you doing out here snoofing the snows?" Snoofity snoof a noof. These are meant for groomed snow.
• 27:56
Well, they're not meant for Bandito snow, I'll tell you that right now. [laughs] Nice. How's it going today? Um, I personally never knew I could be this happy. How about the re- how are you two boys doing over there?
• 28:11
JK, uh- I've ridden in snow. Oh, JK, how are you? Oh, groovy, groovy. Groovy, man. Nice to meet you, by the way. Hey. Excellent. I was, I was studding around with my, uh, my Dillinger 4s this week.
• 28:25
That made me pretty happy. Nice. I did the splits- Nice... which I can't really do though. [laughs] 'Cause, uh, well, you know, I wasn't wearing my shoes with the studs in them- Yeah. Yeah...
• 28:34
so when I put my foot down, my foot slipped out- Yeah... and I kinda went sideways and I went, "Rip!" And I went, "Ouch. These legs don't do that anymore." Yeah, dude. Yeah. Yeah.
• 28:43
Well- So the tires grip really well, but the shoes didn't... JK, uh, that's, that's a shame. Do you like to do that little tripod thing that Gomez does? [laughs] No. [laughs] I'm all retracted and stuff. [laughs] Oh.
• 28:57
[laughs] I was, I was watching you yesterday. I was like, "You know, you could, you could take up motorcycles." Yeah. Gome- Gomez MX. I have a prehensile penis that I use to hold onto the knob of my saddle. I'm a eunuch.
• 29:14
[laughs] I bet you that- So anyways- I bet you that gets edited out. [laughs] [laughs] I'm just saying. Or maybe not. So, [laughs] so- Are, are you, are you, you got puberty going on over there? So, P. Rhone- [laughs]
• 29:31
Do you have a vote for the, uh- Do I-... for the pansexual fat bike of the universe 2015? I, I, I do actually. All right. Lay it on us, brother. Now we're talking about your favorite fat bike of 2015.
• 29:46
Well, we're talking about your favorite fat bike. Yeah. Your vote for the, for the best. Well, well- Not necessarily the, your favorite, but the best... well, that's, that's easy. All right. That's easy.
• 29:54
As a matter of fact, Brother Evan and I talked about it tonight while we were riding. Uh-huh. And, and we both agreed, at least I agreed with myself, 'cause I do that a lot- [laughs]... uh, that, [laughs]
• 30:08
that my favorite fat bike of 2015 is my fat bike. Is- There you go... is your bike? My bike, yeah. I don't, I don't know that it's gonna win any beauty contests or nothing- Right. It's a 907-...
• 30:20
but that's my favorite bike of 2015... Alloy, the, right? 'Cause the, 'cause not everybody on the radio can- Yeah... see your bike- [laughs]... like I can. Well, this is true. What, what is it? 907? This is true.
• 30:29
It's a 907. It, it would be a 907 Alloy, Circuit Woo 1000, what would that be? '13.
• 30:36
Yeah Oh [groans] With the Roland Hill rims and the, and the Slow Beast, uh, Van Halda combo, which is very nice You gotta call in next week to talk about tires. So we'll ex- we'll accept the 907L- Oh, okay...
• 30:50
they, they sold that bike in 2015- All right... it was available Right on It was part of their model year- Okay, good, good...
• 30:56
and, uh, we thank you very much for your vote and for your, uh, company yesterday on the trails. And, uh- It was quite nice...
• 31:04
thanks for inviting me to go riding, uh, tonight, uh, while you were riding, and I really couldn't, but, and you didn't invite me, but that's all right [laughs] Well, you know. You know how that goes.
• 31:15
I'm not- Sometimes I gotta have my own... I'm not part of your little secret circle of, uh, of guys. What is it, the usual suspects? Uh, you know, little secret circle. It's, it's not as organized as you think [laughs]
• 31:29
I know you guys got- We had a good time... a chat room, you got a fucking stripper pole. You got, like, I've s- I've seen the 50-gallon [laughs] drum of fucking industrial lubricants. All right.
• 31:40
I know exactly how you guys roll. [laughs] Yeah. And stuff. And, and Julio just loves all that shit. [laughs] julio.com. julio.com- Julio... makes his own- Julio...
• 31:55
industrial lubricant For inside of your tire. He does. Yeah, well, sealant, yeah. All right. He makes that, too. Well, thanks for your vote- All right, thanks guys... and, uh, we're gonna move on down the queue here.
• 32:06
All right, Byron. Bye. You move all right. Thanks. See you later. [snores] How's it going, caller? What's happening? Oh, wa ka ka ka. Hi. Hello, gentlemen. Oh, it's Brother Evan. [laughs] I had an inkling.
• 32:23
How did you, how did you know that I was calling? 'Cause we just got off the phone with your boyfriend, Byron. Oh, isn't he sweet? He is. He's, he's, uh, he- he's [stutters] [laughs] Byron- And then boom...
• 32:42
Byron, he's, he's, he's rendered me speechless. Hot, hot. That's how, that's how handsome he is. Ah, ah. And, and that ain't an easy thing, folks. Yeah, no doubt.
• 32:51
Wait till you see Andy Tetmeyer's, uh, imitation of Gomez talking. Oh, yeah, dude, yeah. [laughs] 'Cause we're gonna have a video on Monday of, of head wheels- Yeah... and rims and such.
• 33:01
As, here's the warning that this probably wasn't the best idea, but we decided to have just me and Andy Tetmeyer on the screen, and Sven was, uh,
• 33:13
I don't know, y- you were fluffer or were you the gripper best boy or- Yeah, I was all those things You were all those things [laughs] And all those pretty things, baby.
• 33:22
[laughs] Sven was, Sven was manning two cameras, the audio boom, and, uh, yeah, we have a video coming out on Monday. It's our lead story, head wheels. This just in, head wheels are good. That's what we say.
• 33:40
Yes, indeed. So Evan, mi amigo- Yo... what is your vote for the pansexual best fat bike of 2015? Do, do, do, do, do, do.
• 33:55
I, I've been giving it a lot of thought, and I have gotten to ride, uh, multiple bicycles this year, last year, I guess. You're welcome. And I have put my vote down- [laughs]... for the Advocate Watchman. Ooh. Oh, nice.
• 34:09
Yeah. That was the most- The- The most fun, in the short amount of time that I got to ride that bike, it definitely, uh, brought the most smiles to my eye, and, uh, it was a, it was a fucking blast to ride.
• 34:21
So- And the, it's the first steel bike on our list... that, that were my vote. Neato. Steel is Brazil. Yeah, I was gonna, I was gonna, I was gonna default to my Pugsley, but, you know,
• 34:32
it, it, everybody knows how awesome the Pugsley already is. So is, do, do- You don't know just how awesome the Watchman is Best bike under $800- Yeah...
• 34:39
or best bike under $700 Not anymore 'cause they don't have any more. For, for a single speed one, man. Do they have, uh, do you think the Pugsley- Yeah...
• 34:46
will be retired now that they sold them all out at rock bottom prices? They could, uh- Yeah, well, it sounds like it- Uh-huh... especially after I paid full price for it fucking 2013, so- [laughs] That's great.
• 35:02
So happy for everybody that got a, got a Pugsley for 700 bucks. Well, you should be 'cause- So, so... you liked it when it was more expensive, it was a great bike. Uh, imagine how much better it is now. Yeah.
• 35:13
[laughs] No, I wanted to get another one. [laughs] I tried, I tried to buy a Moonlander, but they were, they were gone, like, in a heartbeat. I was gonna buy a Moonlander for, uh, my daughter. Let me guess.
• 35:23
Restricted item? Yeah, I coulda gotten one, but it was out- Oh... it was already gone. Really? But it is a restricted item. Oh, dear. Surly was never restricted in the past.
• 35:34
If you had a QBP account, you could order a Surly bike. That is not the case right at this second. You have to call and beg and plead and- Well, on the special deal I could see why...
• 35:42
send, send, send Sava a beer or something or I don't know. I don't know. But they were never, ever had that restricted item thing ever in the past. So Advocate Watchman, that's, that's a really rather nice choice.
• 35:53
That was on my shortlist of bikes, but I decided to go, you know, s- straight up Chevy, man. I went with the Kona Wo. Whoa. Dude, do you have a, do you have an answer for the, uh, best bike of 2015 there? Moi? Yeah, you.
• 36:07
Yeah, I do. Okay. It's g- it's gonna be our first two-vote getter. Really? Yeah, the Fatback Skookum, baby. Oh, that was on my shortlist too.
• 36:15
Yeah, I, when I was looking at that, uh, the, the, when I was looking at that they got 'em in, I'm like, "Oh, well, how can I f- how can I get me one of them?"
• 36:22
'Cause I, I sure did enjoy riding it, and it's, you know, it's one of the new generation of kind of all-season trail bikes. I'm talking to Fuzzy right now about getting a test bike, so. Yeah?
• 36:34
Well, I was thinking of one for my own damn self 'cause all I ride is steel. Yeah. You know, I mean, I'd vote for one of my bikes, but you just reminded me that they're all older [laughs] than- [laughs]... than 2015.
• 36:44
Maybe if I change the color again it'll be a new model.
• 36:47
But, uh, I mean, I, I love my bikes, and the Skookum reminds me of my Ape, only with the ability to take bigger tires, 'cause my, my Ape doesn't take five-inch tires. Hmm. It wasn't made for it.
• 37:01
I wonder how it compares to my 69 and a half/73 seat tube, head, head tube/seat tube on Otis, 'cause that really does seem to be- It's got a shorter chain stay back in there. Oh, dear. Yeah. But yeah.
• 37:15
Well, they can do that. I, I, I really did enjoy riding that bike. Uh, I would like to have more time on it, especially in the winter, 'cause I'm... I rode it on trails, and it was awesome.
• 37:23
I'm curious how a bike like that that's more trail geometry works in the softer stuff, especially beach and/or snow. We'll have to give that a shot. Righto. Evan- Old school versus new...
• 37:36
so, uh, did you go out and ride the sweet groomed trails there at Silver Lake tonight with the boys? No, we rode some, some Bandido trails near old stomping grounds. Oh, dear, I cannot understand you. Yeah.
• 37:49
You're breaking up, 'cause, uh, yeah, I, uh- [laughs] But, uh, yeah. Yeah. It was good. It was good. Yeah? It was a good, good ride. Um- See any gnomes out there?... we got a couple other things that...
• 38:04
Yeah, there's definitely gnomes, every fucking goddamn corner. [laughs] Especially with these Maxxis Manaks that I was using. [laughs] Son of a bitch, man. [laughs] All right, Evan. Those are my curse words.
• 38:18
Hey, you can, you can call in next week and vote for your favorite, uh, fat bike product now. We're- Yeah... we're moving the pageantry down to the, uh, the product level. [coughs] Uh, tires, rims, whatever.
• 38:30
Yeah, we got some tires. We got some tires. We got your rims. We'll talk next week. And we got your accessories. Yeah. Yep. Your favorite damn pogie. Nope. Your favorite damn- Yeah, gnomes were in full force.
• 38:40
Oh, that's good. All right, man, keep it real. Uh, let's, uh, let's go ride from the marina f- across the lake and, uh, back to the marina t- this weekend. All right? Sunday. All right. The marina's a bar- Let's get it.
• 38:55
I'll bring the pizza... on the other side of the lake. No, it- Over there to- It's, it's- Over there to Silver Lake? Yeah. Yeah. They got, uh, shanties out on Silver Lake now? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 39:05
Guys fishermen are out. Anyhow- I already, I already been out on the lake. I shot that video for Instagram with the Hodag. I had a, I had, no, with the Narwhal on the back. Narwhal. Narwhal on the back. Yeah.
• 39:15
And a, a, a, a Billy Four with, uh, multiple studded arrangements on the front there. Did you get- Oh, God. Did anybody land their airplane while you were, uh- Nope... riding? Nope.
• 39:25
I want to land my aeroplane on that lake. Uh- I want a fucking polar bear on a gold chain piece of- This is, this is now-... whatnot... common knowledge- [laughs]... to all of our radio show listeners.
• 39:37
[laughs] I've actually, I've actually started to work on that, so. Uh-huh. You're gonna have to go up to, uh, northern Canada there, eh? Yeah, out to Churchill Bay. You should go by the tar sands up there. Maybe.
• 39:49
Oh, yeah. Tar sands. Tar sands. All right, Evan, call in next week. All right, gents. Tell us what your favorite fat bike product is. Yeah, I can tell you what's not.
• 39:59
[laughs] I'll let you- The list is long, but it's dwindling... we could, we could, we could have a segue for people who like negativity, and we would have, like, the worst of, of 2015. Think about that. Uh- Worst?
• 40:13
I, I already have my- Worst album... I already have my worst 2015 product- Oof... but it's also one of my favorites. [laughs] Here's one, one- Once they made it better... worst fat bike podcast.
• 40:24
[laughs] [laughs] A- as, as episode number 89. Oh, yeah. No, that's 2016. They can't, they can't vote for this episode.
• 40:33
They can't vote for this episode, but they could get us on episode number 26 through 69 or something. Yeah, Ev- Evan sent us a note saying we were off track or something. That's all right.
• 40:43
We, it's good- I like your, your critique... it's good, it's constructive con- criticism. I think this show's way better now, though. I, you know- [laughs]... if a thing pops into my head, I have to share.
• 40:53
It's, you know, who I am. If I keep it bottled up, it all fucking falls out on some poor schmuck in traffic, and he doesn't know what's happening. Yeah. [laughs] So I gotta let you know. No road rage.
• 41:03
That's, that's how you keep your road rage down, just let us know what's up. Yeah, we appreciate the, uh, comments. Exactly. I think, I think that you, uh, you're onto something there, so we'll- And I, I-...
• 41:12
we'll just, we'll just be better then- I love you guys, man... now. We've, we've taken it- That's all... under advisement, and now we want you to take two steps back and go fuck yourself.
• 41:21
[laughs] [laughs] Just kidding, Evan. Um. We love you. You know I'm a big kidder, and, uh- All right... you know. I'm gonna pick the icicles out of my beard, and, uh, I'm gonna go home. Good night. Good night.
• 41:37
Have a great one, gents. Bye. We'll see you, Evan. All right. Let. Let. Let. Yeah, way to cut him off. [laughs] So that was Evan Larson, uh, our Bike Rack Ribbon test pilot there from Ile Noir. The Watchman. Yeah.
• 41:51
Nice call. Yeah. I didn't really get to spend time on that bike. I would like to. It was a little bit big. Big. Yeah, for me it was big. Right.
• 42:00
Uh- But, uh, he rode the, he rode Tim's bike that I tested, and- Well, Tim is tall. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. I'm surprised that Tim and I ride the same bike.
• 42:08
He must have short legs or something, 'cause he's taller than me, for sure. I attribute it to my large feet. [laughs] Hey, JK. Hi. [laughs] How's it going over there? Oh, great. Oh, hey, hey, guess what. What?
• 42:26
I just cut us, I just cut us off from the phone lines. [laughs] I pushed- Hey, call in- I pushed the wrong button... to vote for, uh, the pan galactic- Oh, you're gonna have to-...
• 42:36
pansexual chocolate, uh, fat bike of the year, 2015. Well, while I, while I'm reconnecting us to the, uh, to the, to the phone thingy- My screen is completely blank [laughs]I'm gonna, um- Oh, hey. Hey, there we are.
• 42:49
Hello. I'm gonna go ahead and, uh, and call us back. [laughs] See? [beeping] Oh, God. That's, that's what you're hearing right now. [beeping] I'm gonna let this go for, like, five minutes.
• 43:00
[laughs] We could make a song around this sound. Do, do, do, do, mm. Meanwhile, JK, do you- Mm-hmm... do you have a, do you have a vote for a favorite, uh, a fat bike of '20, whatever that was, '15?
• 43:13
Well, I'm not sure what the birth date of my ride was, but my purchase date was- Yeah... within 2015. Yeah. So it would be the Schlick Cycles Tatanka. Schlick Cycles Tatanka. Tatanka. Tatanka. Tatanka. Okay. Whoops. Yes.
• 43:30
I'm hurting my- [laughs] He's, he just transformed himself into an American bison. Yes. And then back to [laughs] JK Livin. [laughs] Totally freaky, dude. Exactly.
• 43:39
[laughs] Well, I hit the, I hit the microphone so it kind of- With your- Knocked me back... with your horn. Studio web interface. Hello. [laughs] Hey, baby. I think the lady says we're back. Hi, lady. Hi, lady.
• 43:53
[laughs] Did you take... Were, were there other callers in the queue? Um- Mm... maybe.
• 44:00
[laughs] So we've been talking about next week's question, and what we're gonna do here is we're going to continue the pageantry of the awards season, and we're going to, uh, what?

• 48:32
What's the, what do you want the subject line to be? I ain't stupid? Or no. Dang. [laughs] Oh, um- [laughs] I still like- Becker-... read, read this Tupper. [laughs] Read this Tupper. Yeah, there you go.
• 48:42
[laughs] So, uh- Yeah, put, put read this Tupper in the, in the subject line, and, uh, attach your, your wordy words and- Win a, win a bag. This is a good thing I know. And it, I'm telling you, it's, you're a shoo-in.
• 48:56
If you can't win this, then definitely buy a lottery ticket. [laughs] I heard a really funny thing about lottery. A statistics, statistics professor was calling it the idiot tax. [laughs] Oh, the lottery? Yeah.
• 49:10
Do, do you know what the most popular number in the winning Mega Bucks lottery is since 2004? No. 11. 11. I think it's because people use birthdays and months and things like that. Yeah.
• 49:22
So a lot of them are front-loaded to the 30s. Mm-hmm. So after you get past 31, it drops off because people are using birthdates, and that's all in the pre-31 area. Sure. Why not? I, I hear what you're s- assessing.
• 49:34
I spent my $6 to become a billionaire, damn it. Yeah. Two bucks. Two bucks. Two bucks. I got the number 13 for the Powerball. I'm feeling pretty lucky, though. I didn't even look at my numbers.
• 49:44
Ah, I'm gonna look at them tomorrow, 'cause today I'm me. Tomorrow, I'm a billionaire. Yeah. If you don't ever hear from me again [laughs] It's nothing personal. I'm just fucking rich. I'm a billionaire. Just kidding.
• 50:00
You know that, that song, "I Want to Be a Millionaire" song? Like, why? Why not be a billionaire? Come on. It's way better. I say- It's 1,000 times better than being a millionaire... why not be a Brazilianaire?
• 50:11
[laughs] Okay? Yeah. That's what you said. So here's a little public service message. Do crazy voices and sound effects, but read to your kids, folks. It's quality time. What are you talking about?
• 50:27
[laughs] Meow. Meow. [laughs] Ring. Ah. Oh. Ai-yi-yi. Oh, Lordy. Yee. Hey, you know what we're doing now? Ai-yi-yi. [laughs] I think it might be time for Linky Dink time.
• 50:45
Eh, we got some links. Yeah. Did you, did you kill the phone lines? I don't know. All right. Maybe. I'm not gonna ask you. [laughs] I'll let you know if we need, we need to take a call. All right, sounds good. Maybe.
• 50:58
So, uh, Jill went to The Fat Pursuit. Yeah. And, uh, made a fire and- Didn't get there, but she had a good, good story. She always writes good stories, so. We talked about this, uh,
• 51:11
now I'm gonna say it wrong again, [laughs] Wa- Wanoga Snow Park. We talked about that with Keith. With Keith, right. Yeah... from over there in Bend, Oregon. That's, uh, a new Central Oregon groomed fat bike area.
• 51:23
Yeah, if I win the lotto, look for me in Bend, Oregon. Or Jackson Hole with, uh, Dick Cheney. No, I- [laughs] I'm living in Bend, Oregon. Duck. [laughs] Uh, you know, fat biking is the fastest- [laughs]...
• 51:33
growing winter sport in Jackson Hole. It's probably the fastest growing winter sport everywhere, really. What other winter sports are growing as quickly? Uh- Extreme curling. [laughs] Curling, yeah.
• 51:45
I joined a curling club. Yep. Snow, snow bocce ball. We, we ran out of butane, so we had to get a electric curling iron and- Yeah, propane tank ice bowling.
• 51:57
[laughs] That sounds fun, and, you know, that's something you'd do in a trailer park, I'm pretty sure. [laughs] Rossland- I know there's just-... Rossland, British Columbia, you said that looked cool.
• 52:09
I think that's the one with the, the wheelie contest and the, uh, I don't know. I, all these... There's, here's the deal.
• 52:15
There's so many events coming up, and these are all in, like, more mainstream media that's covering this stuff now, even for the events, not just the fact that fat biking is out there. Like you didn't know that already.
• 52:26
But these are, you know, there's Cambridge, M- Minnesota, uh, you know, British Columbia, Ontario. Place, places everywhere have events, and I think, uh, you know, it's, it, it's the year of the event. Yeah.
• 52:40
Mike Curiak and I are pen pals. You know the event of the, you know the event of the year. Yeah. The event of the year is gonna be Fat Bike Worlds- Fat Bike Worlds... in Crested Butte. Is Mike Curiak gonna be there?
• 52:49
I don't know, but he and I are pen pals. Yeah? I told him if he wanted me to put these links up, I had to be able to tell people that we were pen pals. Nice.
• 52:57
[laughs] How many- He n- he never agreed, but I just did it anyway. How many websites does he have? I don't know. Huh.
• 53:03
Obviously, uh, he's very happy in, in his, in his happy space, and, uh, I would respect what he has to say about fat tire pressure. That's a guy that would know. You betcha. He's astute in the way of the bicycle.
• 53:20
I also invited him to come on the show just to tell us how full of shit we are. [laughs] 'Cause he's kind of a straight shooter. Well, I'd appreciate that from somebody that shoots straight shit. In- indeed.
• 53:33
And, and somebody needs to call us [laughs] to tell us how full of shit we are, 'cause sometimes it's pretty damn thick in here. Uh-huh. Sometimes. Sometimes.

• 55:48
[laughs] [laughs] What are you doing to make that dog make that kind of noise, Byron? [laughs] No, it just does it normally. That's the scary thing. Oh, dear. [laughs] Hmm. And you guys have a good night. All right.
