- 0:10All right and welcome to the deconstructing topic podcast when you listen to some,
- 0:16smoothing little piano little something going on you
- 0:19already know that we are and i say we
- 0:22because i am that legendary host of the deconstructing topic
- 0:25podcast that legendary podcast when we
- 0:28grab a topic and we kind of you know what let's dissect
- 0:31let's do the deconstructing thing but today
- 0:35you know i don't want to be crazy animated because today
- 0:38we got a little motivational kind of little pep talk
- 0:41from the legendary host David Deconstructing
- 0:44Topics to you my audience and my legendary audience
- 0:48whether you are a returning day one whatever it is this is your first time second
- 0:54time third time you know let's talk a little bit of motivation and it's not
- 0:58even kind of uh it's a little bit of motivation and a little bit of that little
- 1:02pep talk and a little bit of that uh kind of life lesson and one of the things that I'm here,
- 1:08Deconstructing Topic Podcast, once again,
- 1:11we're trying to, let's make it happen type deal, you know?
- 1:14And one of the things that I've kind of noticed in life, and listen,
- 1:17even including me, is that there are things that one wants to address,
- 1:22many things that one wants to address in different topics of different aspects
- 1:26of life, but sometimes we don't know where to start.
- 1:29And I've heard the other day, I
- 1:31was having a conversation with a sister-in-arms who also wants to kind of.
- 1:37How can I say it to you? It's inquiring about, you know, entering the podcast realm out there.
- 1:43And then shout out to the sister out there doing that thing.
- 1:46And, you know, she got a couple of questions. But one thing that they listen,
- 1:51they don't know where to start.
- 1:53And that's one of those things that as we are listening to this podcast or we
- 1:58listen to this episode, where to start, right?
- 2:01But this is not about, you know, starting a podcast or anything to that effect.
- 2:05It's about how we address certain things in our life And sometimes we tend to
- 2:09get a little bit overwhelmed Like I said,
- 2:11even myself I got a little dark cloud to address But if you don't address it
- 2:17And even if you don't take time to address it Then, hey, listen,
- 2:21it's going to still be lingering And it comes to a point that you say to yourself It's time,
- 2:26And what I mean by that is this, and very simple. And the other day,
- 2:31you know, I'm in the gym, and there's one of my gym brothers,
- 2:34and he's weighing himself.
- 2:37And what he was telling me is that he, you know, put a little kind of goal there
- 2:41to lose five pounds in two weeks. Amen to that.
- 2:45And as he tipped the scale, I mean, did the scale thing, and,
- 2:48you know, we both like, okay, what's going on? And he only lost one pound.
- 2:53And we both kind of chuckled, like, okay, I mean, your goal was five, you only lost one pound.
- 2:59And he looked at me, he's like, no, no, that's fine, that's one pound.
- 3:03And I want people to be like, okay.
- 3:05I thought, you know, the goal was five. And a lot of times, when in life,
- 3:09we put goals, whether it's to save money, whether it's to address certain things
- 3:15at our workplace, to a personal life, to address certain things,
- 3:19to kind of cut a couple of our habits, whether it's spending,
- 3:23whether it's, you know, going out than drinking and whether it's doing these
- 3:26couple of things, whether it's gambling, whether it's whatever it is that you
- 3:30know you need to address.
- 3:30A lot of times we put these goals and we want to say, let's say with the gentleman
- 3:34with the gym said, hey, listen, I want to give myself two weeks.
- 3:38I'm going to give up or cut down on this. I'm going to cut down on that. I need to lose one pound.
- 3:44And he's shogged and we both kind of like, okay.
- 3:47And the lesson there is that a lot of times people, and I'm going to say probably
- 3:5280 to 90% of the people out there that was in that situation that said,
- 3:57hey, listen, I want to lose five pounds.
- 3:59And they don't lose the five pounds, they lose one, they get discouraged.
- 4:04And the thing is that the gym brother was not discouraged because he basically
- 4:07said, well, what I did was, is that I cut down 1% of carbs.
- 4:13What I did down 1% of cheese Because he's a cheese lover He enjoy his wine I
- 4:19cut down 1% For two weeks He cut down 1% of something.
- 4:23And he was telling me, hey, David, you know, normally, let's say,
- 4:26if I'm, you know, with my wife, you know, the kids are hanging out or whatever it is.
- 4:32You know, me and my wife, we like to treat ourselves, go out.
- 4:35Let's say we go out to dinner.
- 4:37We have a couple of wine, you know, wine cups, you know, wine.
- 4:41They're doing the wine thing. Yeah, wine.
- 4:45And he said, normally, you know, we both would drink, you know,
- 4:48three, three little, you know, cups there.
- 4:51And he said, we only had two. So he cut one.
- 4:56And you see what we want to do, and sometimes what we tend to do as humans,
- 5:00is that we tend to put so much emphasis on the goal, which is fine.
- 5:05Hey, listen, it's no problem whatsoever putting yourself, okay,
- 5:09I want to do this by this time, so this is where I want to be at.
- 5:13And sometimes we're not going to be there. Many times we're not going to get to that goal.
- 5:18Let's say I decided, hey, listen, I want to save $100 from here to three weeks from now.
- 5:25Then I look and I only save $57. I'm just using an example. Again,
- 5:30people should not be discouraged.
- 5:32Because sometimes in life, we got to start addressing 1% of something.
- 5:38And you don't want to be in that situation where you're going to put a lot of
- 5:41burdens in our life where, oh, we have to do this.
- 5:45And again, that's the mistake that us humans tend to fall.
- 5:48And we tend to fall into that little cycle that, wow, just because I didn't
- 5:52establish this goal, it doesn't mean that you're not established something.
- 5:56That one pound, you might say, oh, but it's only one pound, David.
- 5:59Not two, not three, but again, it's one pound out of five.
- 6:04And we can get this coverage because of that. because, again,
- 6:08we know what exactly, why we only lost one pound. He already knew.
- 6:11He could have just said, you know what, I'm just going to cut down completely on one.
- 6:15I'm going to cut down on carbs completely and not lose no pounds whatsoever,
- 6:20and go back to the same routine.
- 6:22So sometimes you just got to work with certain things and just start with that
- 6:251%. Address 1%. 1% becomes 2.
- 6:292 becomes 3. 3 becomes 5. 5 becomes 10. You understand what I'm trying to say here?
- 6:35And I want, you know, I want this episode where people are listening to him.
- 6:39Once again, hit the like button, share, you know, listen to me,
- 6:42you know, listen to this little episode.
- 6:45And, you know, you're going to start thinking, you know, he's right.
- 6:47But it's 1%. See, I know a lot of people that will wake up early or they started
- 6:53to wake up early, started hitting the gym.
- 6:55The minute that they started going back to back with them, we're not waking up early.
- 7:00Or earlier than what they normally is, then they get discouraged.
- 7:03Then I said to myself, well, then adjust the time.
- 7:06Instead of waking up a little bit earlier, now obviously when you wake up earlier,
- 7:10you're going to probably put some time in the gym.
- 7:12But the whole point is that you're going to start a little discipline, a little process there.
- 7:16So let's say if you are 45 minutes in the gym, right?
- 7:22And you just started and you're getting your thing, but then you're having a
- 7:25little hard time waking up, don't get discouraged.
- 7:27Okay, so you did not wake up that early.
- 7:30You wake up 10, 15 minutes a little bit late than the normal,
- 7:35but then still go to the gym. Instead of doing the 45 minutes because you lost
- 7:4010, 15 minutes from not waking up earlier, then do the 30 minutes.
- 7:44You see how the mind works sometimes is that we put so much pressure on ourselves.
- 7:49We start putting these goals that are obtainable, but sometimes if somebody
- 7:53tells me, hey, maybe I started going to the gym.
- 7:57You know, first time ever I want to, you know, shed some pounds I want to get
- 8:01tone, I want to do this And I started going to the gym And I'm only exercising 10 minutes.
- 8:07And I'm going to say, 10 minutes a session, what the hell are you doing?
- 8:11Are you, like, walking in and out?
- 8:14But I want people to understand it's this. See, that person,
- 8:17let's say, never ever actually dedicated themselves to go, let's say,
- 8:23to the gym, hey, listen, you can use anything. You can do a run,
- 8:25whatever it is to keep your body moving.
- 8:28And if, now, I'm going to start to say that once that person started work,
- 8:34you know, doing 10-minute sessions, they're going to go to 15.
- 8:37Then to 20, then to 30. They're going to start to feel it. Their body's going
- 8:42to start, their mind's going to start getting accustomed.
- 8:44And again, I want people, I'm just using the gym example, but apply this everywhere in life.
- 8:50Doing something is better than nothing. Now, I'll guarantee you that when somebody,
- 8:55first time ever, let me do the gym.
- 8:57You know what? I started working out.
- 9:00I'll take that pride. Let's go. Yeah, you're going to get a lot in an hour,
- 9:04but you're probably going to start to burn out after a couple of weeks,
- 9:07after three, four, five weeks.
- 9:10And then what happened? Now in your mind, it's like, okay, that's great. You're doing an hour.
- 9:14But then when you go to the gym one day and you do 30 minutes because of certain
- 9:18circumstances or whatever it is, you're going to get discouraged.
- 9:21And I'm not doing as much gym as I'm doing before.
- 9:24See, there you go. That's that mindset. Again, grab that 1%.
- 9:28Start somewhere. And starting somewhere, it's better than starting nowhere.
- 9:33Whether financially you're struggling, but you know you can handle certain things,
- 9:37trust me, and this applies to me.
- 9:39I'm a social butterfly as a social can bee, and still sting like a bee.
- 9:48Oh, I enjoy so many things.
- 9:51Continue to find balance and continue to make the best and then continue to
- 9:55be the best version of myself.
- 9:57But sometimes I get caught up and then you got deep that balance because then
- 10:00you got these personal issues, family issues, friends, work, content, this, that.
- 10:09And I said to myself, how can I, you know, discipline myself,
- 10:13you know, find that balance every now I'm finding.
- 10:15But then And again, I start to, sometimes, and this happens,
- 10:18you get rattled and you start getting overwhelmed when you just stop doing anything.
- 10:22And I caught myself the other day.
- 10:23I got sick, couldn't breathe. I'm like congested.
- 10:27I didn't go to the gym. Once I got better, instead of saying to myself,
- 10:31once I got better, okay, fully recovered or at least recover,
- 10:35instead of saying to myself, you know what, let me just do 10,
- 10:3815 minutes in the gym or let me do something just to remind me I didn't do anything.
- 10:44And then after a couple of days of not doing anything once
- 10:47you go back to the gym you gotta be like you don't have that energy and
- 10:50again it all starts that sometimes we tend to we
- 10:53need to know what's in our mind what's in
- 10:56our soul what's in our body somewhere down the line how
- 10:59can we all meet all at the same time and just start
- 11:02with that little one percent start with that little step that
- 11:06little step is gonna go woo and it's gonna
- 11:09take you a long ways from now And whatever
- 11:12it is that your practice is in your life Don't put
- 11:15that pressure just because again And I'm using
- 11:18the gym little thing going on here
- 11:21story So you can have an idea That a lot of people would have been discouraged
- 11:25If they did not lose 5 pounds And they only lost 1 pound Trust me People get
- 11:31discouraged That's the human nature in us Because now we feel like we're failures
- 11:36Instead of thinking of success Right?
- 11:39Why is it that 1% it's not success, it's failure, right?
- 11:43There are people that take tests, whatever it is, and you get a 88,
- 11:47I mean, 98% test rate, you ain't gonna be like, wow, I had 98%.
- 11:54You're gonna be like, damn, I didn't do with 99. I'm just saying.
- 11:58Just because of that 1%. Hey, listen, I get it. But sometimes somewhere down
- 12:02the line, we have to kind of manage and find that little, how can we start here?
- 12:07And start managing that 1%. Whatever it is that you need to address in life,
- 12:11just start with 1%. What is 1% of this?
- 12:14What is 1% of an hour? What is 1% of a dollar?
- 12:18What is 1%? Let's say if you are someone who's trying to cut down on the enjoyment
- 12:23of the spirits, drinking, the adult beverage, Hey, damn, do I really need a six-pack?
- 12:31Even I sometimes would even ask myself, do I really need a six-pack?
- 12:35Let me just have five. Oh, I had a good time with five. Let me start doing four.
- 12:40Remember, I'm cutting down. Oh, I had a good time with four.
- 12:43Let me start doing three, and I'm not saying every day, but I'm just saying
- 12:46that every time that one likes to indulge in the enjoyment of something,
- 12:52that you know that it could affect you, then you said to yourself,
- 12:55you know what? Let me start cutting down something at 1%.
- 12:58Let me start increasing something at 1%. Let's decrease the productivity of the junk food.
- 13:04Let's, you know, I love junk food. And I'm not saying me, but there's people.
- 13:07And when I say junk food, there's people that love the sweets.
- 13:10Got that sweet soup. There's people that love the saltiness.
- 13:13There's people that love this. And again, you could get all that stuff even
- 13:17in the most healthiest way.
- 13:18But, you know, we're consumers, so we enjoy certain things.
- 13:22Let's get it. Hey, listen, those Doritos be looking good sometimes.
- 13:26But when you start applying that, some of that stuff that's not good for your body on a weekly basis,
- 13:33maybe two or three Dorito bags a week, and then kind of feel like,
- 13:39yeah, it was good, but, damn, they got too much salt in it.
- 13:44Let's eliminate one bag. You're going to probably start to feel,
- 13:47hey, listen, two bags was enough.
- 13:49Let's eliminate one. One is enough.
- 13:53The things that harm you, you can start by taking 1% off.
- 13:57And the things that are good for you, could you start putting 1% on? Let's make it happen.
- 14:03Once again, deconstruct the topics. This legendary podcast, Save It a Mind and
- 14:08Save It a Life, we're definitely going to make it happen.
- 14:10And let that may, we are in may, let that may be that thing that we are going
- 14:16to make it happen. Let's go.
- 14:20Anyways, holla at your boy. It's Deconstructing Topics. I'm out. Peace. I'm out of ease.
