- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So with everything that's going on in this world and how quickly
- 0:33and fast paced, it seems to be every day if it's not one thing,
- 0:37it's another I would like to talk to you about living with
- 0:40uncertainty. So we all have it, we all
- 0:43understand what it means. We all understand the concept of
- 0:46uncertainty and I think that for most of us we don't realize how
- 0:52much of it is around us and how much it's played upon every day
- 0:57in our media in our families. And how much time we as human
- 1:02beings spend thinking about. What if, if this goes on, if
- 1:08this goes on, if this goes on now.
- 1:09Let's don't get me wrong. That is an actually really good
- 1:14part of who we are, that we can project and future pace and
- 1:18think about something and say, how will I handle that?
- 1:20If this happens, the challenge we have is when it comes into
- 1:24our lives and stays there and it just ruminates in US it gets
- 1:28into our bones, it gets into our very fiber and Our soul and it
- 1:32creates Havoc because you can't stay in that state part of our
- 1:38well. Being part of our psychological
- 1:40well-being, as human beings is to gain certainty, and it makes
- 1:45us feel safe, right? We all need safety.
- 1:47We all understand the concept of basic human needs and we all
- 1:50need shelter. We all need food.
- 1:52We all need to feel like we have a safe umbrella.
- 1:57If you will. Well, when you stay in Auntie it
- 2:02does a lot of things to your biochemistry that are not great.
- 2:05So on a very basic level is why they say stress is the worst
- 2:09thing for your health. Well, it really is because when
- 2:12you stress all that that energy has to go somewhere and it,
- 2:17shifts your biochemistry. So that's why people who are
- 2:20very stressed out have heart attacks.
- 2:23Typically it leads to other behaviors, that aren't great as
- 2:26well, such as abuse of alcohol, abuse of food.
- 2:30Of drugs, abuse of sex, lots of different things because that
- 2:36stress that is energy and that energy has to go somewhere, so
- 2:41you can't just like, ignore it. It's got to do.
- 2:42You got to transfer it into something?
- 2:44That's why if you quit smoking, let's say often the person
- 2:48you're working with to help you. Quit smoking, will say well we
- 2:50have to replace that with something with your place that
- 2:52habit was something. Well think of the Habit as
- 2:55energy that energy has to go somewhere.
- 2:58So uncertainty. For us is a huge buildup of
- 3:04energy that blocks us, it blocks our systems.
- 3:07And the more we focus on uncertainty, the more we
- 3:11actually get uncertainty, because as you've heard me, say,
- 3:15and you will continue to hear me, say it's such an important
- 3:17factor. To realize energy is everything
- 3:21and emotions are nothing but pure energy and their potential
- 3:25energy, right? It can go in either direction,
- 3:27it can go left or right, it can go to the dark side.
- 3:30Light Side. However, it is that you want to
- 3:32look at it, but their emotions are pure energy.
- 3:36So, when we start focusing our attention on uncertainty and
- 3:43giving it undue attention too long of an assistant with it.
- 3:47We do ourselves psychological damage and we do ourselves
- 3:51physiological damage. So, why am I bringing this up
- 3:55today? Well, it seems that lately
- 3:57again, here we go again, with all the drama out of everything
- 4:01that's going on in the world, you can't escape it.
- 4:05It's always been this way. However, since we've had the
- 4:09pandemic, it's gotten more and more and more intense, and it
- 4:13seems to get more and more intense because they have to get
- 4:17our attention because we have been desensitized.
- 4:20So everything is made into drama.
- 4:21Everything is Big, everything is huge.
- 4:24And we have to choose to dial it back in our heads and we have to
- 4:28decide how we want to show. Then who we want to be the
- 4:32fundamentals of this process are pretty simple.
- 4:36I can tell you shut the news off.
- 4:38I can tell you to do tactical things, I can say, you know, for
- 4:41those of you who want to be informed, you can dive in for
- 4:45one minute, set your timer. And say, let me just take the
- 4:48USA Today version of the news and walk away.
- 4:52But even at that State, it doesn't mean you're letting it
- 4:55go afterwards. It doesn't mean that you're
- 4:57going about your day and you're not having it do.
- 5:00Dwell inside of you, having it sit there and eat it, you all
- 5:04day long, because that's what it does.
- 5:06So how do we actually live in with uncertainty?
- 5:09What do we do with it? Well, the fundamental piece that
- 5:13I think is. So critically important is to
- 5:16constantly be monitoring your attention where it's going.
- 5:19If your attention and you find that your attention is
- 5:22constantly floating to worry, if you find that your attention is
- 5:25constantly going to uncertainty. Well I don't know, I don't know.
- 5:29Listen to how many Times a day you use the words.
- 5:31Well, I don't know because that's that actually denotes the
- 5:35fact that you are in uncertainty and your kind of processing
- 5:39looking for answers. But you don't know how to get
- 5:42there and that in itself is stressful.
- 5:45You've got to become okay with not knowing you've got to become
- 5:48okay with it, doesn't matter how much I know or I don't know what
- 5:52matters is that. I'm okay when I dunno so for me
- 5:57I'm hyper certainty driven I want Uno on a Monday, what we're
- 6:01doing on Friday? I want to know where we're going
- 6:04to eat. I want to know how the whole
- 6:06years going to lay out. I get very hyper focused on
- 6:10things like that. And I have to work really hard
- 6:13personally on not driving, everyone crazy around me because
- 6:17I might like certainty, but my husband does not even come close
- 6:22to that. So I have to realize it's his
- 6:25space to and when I get over certainty driven, I push that to
- 6:30Him and I Look to Him for answers and he's a guy that's
- 6:32like, okay, with not knowing he is, he is really great with
- 6:36uncertainty, he's just like, all right, whatever is going to
- 6:38happen, is going to happen, and he can just check out and let it
- 6:40go. So the first thing you have to
- 6:43do is recognize, you don't need to know everything.
- 6:47And it doesn't help to know everything.
- 6:49I remind myself constantly. This isn't something I need to
- 6:52know right now, but I do need to be healthfully prepared and
- 6:57taking care of myself. So, if something does show up, I
- 7:00can be good to deal with it. The second thing is you need to
- 7:03monitor that internal dialogue and ask yourself.
- 7:06How much am I saying? I don't know.
- 7:07I don't know, I don't know. And is that creating angst in my
- 7:11body so that you can stop that process and slow it down and
- 7:14say, I don't need to know. I am, okay, not knowing I am,
- 7:20okay, not knowing I am fully equipped to be able to figure
- 7:24this out on the Fly. That's one of my favorite
- 7:27statements to tell myself. I can figure this out on the
- 7:29Fly. Good because I'm centered and
- 7:32I'm taking care of myself. And the third thing is really
- 7:36start to dial back. How much you tap into things
- 7:40that bother you, it becomes an addiction in itself.
- 7:43So shut the news off, don't pay attention to everything because
- 7:47tomorrow is going to be the same thing and you can always catch
- 7:49up. If you're someone who's really
- 7:51addicted to it. Just realize you could skip a
- 7:54whole week and come back. And you'd be hearing the same
- 7:57crap all over again. So it's really Important to pay
- 8:01attention to that dial it back, go to things that make you
- 8:04happier, go to things that make it easier on your soul so that
- 8:08you don't have to deal with it Non-Stop and give yourself a
- 8:12little break and a little Grace and realize this is a practice,
- 8:16this isn't going to happen overnight.
- 8:17But it's a beginning that I wanted to introduce you guys to
- 8:20and we will talk about it more. And this is awareness is the
- 8:24fundamental piece of it. So let's start there and I will
- 8:27see you guys tomorrow. Have a great day.
