- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so today I want to talk to
- 0:31you a little bit about what happens when you get into an
- 0:34argument. Because I think that, you know,
- 0:38it's inevitable. If you're a human being, you're
- 0:40going to get in an argument with another person may be many
- 0:43people, you're an argue with yourself about things.
- 0:46You're going to definitely argue with other individuals that are
- 0:49in your family friends, whatever it might be, there will be
- 0:53arguments, that will ensue. And when they take place how you
- 0:58handle it is everything, how you handle yourself?
- 1:00Self in the argument is everything.
- 1:02But really quite frankly how you deal with that argument and what
- 1:07that means to you is going to be a huge factor in your healing
- 1:13process and moving forward in it.
- 1:15But it's also just an emotional growth spurt for us as human
- 1:20beings, if we can understand our offenses, why it happens and
- 1:25moving forward. So let's just talk about the
- 1:29fact that, okay, let's say you Into an argument with your
- 1:31spouse, your partner, it could be anybody that's pretty close
- 1:35to you. And if you're close with
- 1:38somebody, it is definitely evident that you will get into
- 1:42an argument with that person because it's next to impossible
- 1:45to be with a person for a good period of your life.
- 1:49And not have a serious argument at some point in time where you
- 1:55are in such a disagreement and you just don't like each other
- 1:59and you, you know, I often will joke around and say, hey, I love
- 2:04my husband beyond words and beyond measure, but there
- 2:07doesn't mean, I don't want a throat, punch him some days and
- 2:09it is true and it is possible to feel two things at the same
- 2:13time. And one of them is anger and one
- 2:14of them is love and how you handle yourself to get past it
- 2:21so that you can move on and truly create something and not
- 2:24take it with you is a major factor in It meant and health
- 2:32mental health. So let's say you have an
- 2:35argument with somebody and you know, in your mind you were
- 2:39right because we're always thinking, we're right?
- 2:41Because that's our position. So we are always going to hang
- 2:43on to the fact that we are right, and maybe we are right,
- 2:46maybe there is a point where we are, right?
- 2:48But let's just, it doesn't matter.
- 2:50We're not talking right and wrong, right?
- 2:51This minute what we're talking about is how you move past it,
- 2:55but in your head, you're still thinking about the right thing.
- 2:58So, the very first thing you have to discern, Is that you
- 3:02don't need to hang on to being right, if you're choosing to be
- 3:06happy, okay? And I think that's an important
- 3:10distinction. If you want to be happy with the
- 3:12other person, you have to choose to be happy.
- 3:15Now, I'm assuming in this conversation that you don't want
- 3:18to get rid of the other person that you do want to stay with
- 3:21the other person. Now, this is a completely
- 3:22different story. If you've decided, I just don't
- 3:25want to be with this person anymore.
- 3:26I don't want to have this person in my life, whether it be
- 3:28friends, employee, partner, whatever, Might be spouse if you
- 3:32have made a hard decision that you don't want them there
- 3:34anymore, then the strategies are different.
- 3:36But I'm going to assume for this conversation that you do want to
- 3:40have the person there and that you do want to be happy.
- 3:43So you have to remind yourself. First and foremost, my most
- 3:47important thing in my life is to be happy because if I'm happy
- 3:50and I'm focused on being happy then, I can heal myself, I can
- 3:54heal the aggravation, I can heal what's going on and I don't have
- 3:58to hang on to it and as Gandhi, I said I refuse to allow others
- 4:02to walk through my mind with their dirty feet which just
- 4:05basically boils down to meaning. I'm not going to let somebody
- 4:08else and their anger or whatever.
- 4:10They did to me stay with me and that's what we're talking about.
- 4:13You're just not going to allow it to stay with you because it's
- 4:16more important to move on and be happy.
- 4:19So let's assume you want to do that.
- 4:21And you say I want to be happy. Okay?
- 4:23And then three minutes later you're still irritated with it.
- 4:26So what do you do? How do you get past this?
- 4:28And I think I hear this. So, Didn't that it really is
- 4:33something to be addressed within yourself.
- 4:35If this is coming up for you, often, if you are finding
- 4:38yourself constantly having these moments where you're just so
- 4:43aggravated and you can't seem to let go of it and move on and let
- 4:47go of it and move on just truly let go of it and move on.
- 4:50Well for me, the trick that I find that works the most is to
- 4:55remind myself that I only I am in charge of what goes on in my.
- 5:00My head. Nobody else.
- 5:02I don't want to let other people be in charge of it, because if I
- 5:05do, then how can I possibly take care of my own mental health,
- 5:10and well-being? If I'm letting other people come
- 5:12in and make decisions in my head, for me, so what stops me
- 5:16from getting hooked and staying hooked?
- 5:19That's the key staying hook, doesn't mean I don't get hooked,
- 5:22it just means, I don't stay hooked is just reminding myself.
- 5:25Hey, hold on here. I had to pause because I'm not
- 5:28going to let this keep getting me.
- 5:30Now will it happen multiple times throughout the course of
- 5:35you know the day or the week if it's if it's something big sure
- 5:39but I have to keep reminding myself repeatedly.
- 5:42No this is not what we said. We said it was important to be
- 5:45happy. We said we were going to move
- 5:47forward, you mended it with the other person and even though you
- 5:50said fine, let's just move on, I was still aggravated.
- 5:54You can't let it stay with you because you made the choice to
- 5:57move forward and you have to stop yourself from looping back
- 6:00to It. Because the next time that
- 6:02person has an offense, the next time that person does something
- 6:05you're going to be going into this mode of stacking where you
- 6:08putting multiple things on top of each other.
- 6:11So it's, you know, the proverbial straw, that broke the
- 6:14camel's back, we have to avoid that, because it's very easy to
- 6:18stack events. And when you're mad about one
- 6:20thing, not really you're mad about 25 things that you've
- 6:23still been hanging on to, and you've never really let them go.
- 6:27Which is what this conversation is about.
- 6:31Angry. Yes.
- 6:32You can be angry. Can you hang on to it?
- 6:35No, the longer you hang on to it.
- 6:36The more you suffer because it eats away at you and chips away
- 6:40at you. So do you have to continuously
- 6:43chip back at it and say, nope, that's not the way I'm going to
- 6:46be. Nope, that's not what I'm
- 6:47thinking about. Nope, that's not how this is
- 6:49gonna go 100%. And you have to remind yourself
- 6:53over and over and over. This is not who I choose to be.
- 6:56This is not the way I choose to show up.
- 6:58I chose to let it go. I Happiness and you move on and
- 7:02then that person or those people, nobody has any power
- 7:05over you at that point because you'd get to decide what things
- 7:08mean to you. If you want to be angry, be
- 7:11angry, but do it consciously and I will always tell you that.
- 7:16Yeah, angry will move you but happiness will thrill you and
- 7:19happiness will put you in a better place and you attract
- 7:21more of the things you really look for.
- 7:23So always look for that place that you can let go mend the
- 7:27bridges. Do what you need to do
- 7:29especially if you've decided Did you want to stay in the
- 7:31relationship? So once you bottom line, that
- 7:34then it's all about moving up from there.
- 7:37So I hope this was helpful and I will see you guys tomorrow
- 7:40morning. Have a blessed day everybody.
- 7:42Bye!
