- 0:00Speaker 1: Now it's time for Jeff Mosher and football at four
- 0:02Speaker 1: from the inside the birds podcast which you can check
- 0:05Speaker 1: out on all podcasting platforms Jeff Mosher what's up buddy
- 0:09Speaker 1: how are.
- 0:09Speaker 2: You I'm good Mike yourself.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Doing good busy week man we got the Mattingly news
- 0:14Speaker 1: today we have the Flyers losing again the Sixers open
- 0:18Speaker 1: in a week and then of course oh yes the
- 0:20Speaker 1: Eagles never a dull moment in Eagleville first off a
- 0:24Speaker 1: lot happening Nick Sirianni spoke today want to get some
- 0:27Speaker 1: thoughts on that but We did see the window is
- 0:31Speaker 1: opening for a couple of Eagles. Of that list, I
- 0:34Speaker 1: think Landon Dickerson is obviously the one that stands out.
- 0:37Speaker 1: What do we know about Landon Dickerson and when he
- 0:40Speaker 1: might be available to come back and actually play?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Well, if you remember when he first talked about the
- 0:45Speaker 2: bone bruise that he suffered, he said that he was
- 0:48Speaker 2: going to be out quite a bit, and he made
- 0:51Speaker 2: it even sound like four weeks might not be enough.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So perhaps there's been a change in his progress there.
- 1:00Speaker 2: The thing is, of course, you would welcome Landon Dickerson back.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But that's the state of the Eagles offensive line is
- 1:07Speaker 2: that you can't wait to get Landon Dickerson back in there.
- 1:10Speaker 2: But then when he's been in there, he has not
- 1:12Speaker 2: played well lately. So and I'm not 100 percent sure
- 1:16Speaker 2: all of the deficiencies we saw in the first week
- 1:19Speaker 2: were necessarily due to the bone bruise. I had remarked
- 1:23Speaker 2: to you. that in training camp, you know, he was
- 1:25Speaker 2: already kind of coming out in certain situations or getting
- 1:28Speaker 2: Drew Kendall in there even at the end of camp. And,
- 1:31Speaker 2: you know, I didn't think he looked in camp like
- 1:33Speaker 2: that guy who is active. And I'm still not sure
- 1:36Speaker 2: he fits exactly what they want to do defensively. But
- 1:40Speaker 2: if he is able to play, at least he gives you,
- 1:43Speaker 2: I think, what a left guard looks like in the NFL.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Well, it would certainly– you would feel more comfortable– calling
- 1:51Speaker 1: a run play behind him than you would Willie Lampkin,
- 1:54Speaker 1: it seems like, right?
- 1:56Speaker 2: I mean, you say certainly, but they haven't run the
- 2:01Speaker 2: ball well in quite a while, and Dickerson's been a
- 2:03Speaker 2: big part of that when he's been healthy. So, I mean, yes, theoretically,
- 2:07Speaker 2: to your point, they should be able to run the
- 2:09Speaker 2: ball a little bit better with Dickerson in there, but
- 2:12Speaker 2: that just is dependent on is Dickerson mobile? Is his
- 2:15Speaker 2: conditioning good? I mean, there's a whole lot of questions now.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you, if Dickerson is back and healthy
- 2:23Speaker 1: and he plays, I guess the question would be, what
- 2:26Speaker 1: is Lampkin's future? Do they just view him as, hey,
- 2:29Speaker 1: we just like this guy, his depth? Or do they
- 2:31Speaker 1: want to take a longer look at him and see
- 2:33Speaker 1: if he's part of the reset of this offensive line?
- 2:37Speaker 2: I mean, listen, I have a hard time believing that
- 2:42Speaker 2: at the end of the day, when this offensive line
- 2:44Speaker 2: is remade, that Willie Lampkin is a starter. I mean,
- 2:48Speaker 2: I just think there's too many obstacles for him to overcome.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think he's a really good story and a good backup.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Went in there, had some struggles early against the Jags,
- 2:58Speaker 2: put it together as the game went on. That's good.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But what I would say about Willie Lampkin, Mike, is
- 3:03Speaker 2: that at his size, he will not be. I can't
- 3:08Speaker 2: see it happening where he's just a natural people mover.
- 3:11Speaker 1: All right.
- 3:11Speaker 2: When we talked about the Eagles offensive offensive line in
- 3:14Speaker 2: 2024 or even it's 2023, it's at its heyday. that
- 3:19Speaker 2: three-year span, four-year span, right? You talk about running just
- 3:22Speaker 2: inside zone and blowing people off the ball. And that's
- 3:26Speaker 2: what they would do. They would reset the line of scrimmage.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I give Lampkin a lot of credit. He understands how
- 3:32Speaker 2: to play with leverage. He was a former wrestler. He
- 3:34Speaker 2: knows how to use his body the right way. He
- 3:36Speaker 2: had some nice pass protection snaps later in the game
- 3:38Speaker 2: against like Trayvon Walker, our number one pick. But he's
- 3:41Speaker 2: not going to move and drive people back consistently to
- 3:45Speaker 2: and create big holes, right? He's a guy I think
- 3:48Speaker 2: that can fill in. Now, you might see him at
- 3:51Speaker 2: center this week if Drew Kendall can't play because I
- 3:54Speaker 2: don't think Drew Kendall was at practice today as he's
- 3:56Speaker 2: still dealing with his knee. So even if Dickerson is back,
- 3:59Speaker 2: you might see Lampkin as more natural position at center.
- 4:03Speaker 2: But when you talk about the future of the Eagles
- 4:05Speaker 2: offensive line and how Howie likes to use first and
- 4:08Speaker 2: second round picks on it, I have a hard time
- 4:11Speaker 2: seeing Willie Lampkin as a starter.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Okay, so are you thinking that Dickerson could come back
- 4:15Speaker 1: and play this Sunday?
- 4:17Speaker 2: I mean, if he's at practice, we have to see
- 4:21Speaker 2: if he practices in full.
- 4:22Speaker 1: He was out there. I don't know.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Right, right. We have to see what level of practice.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I think they're still practicing as you and I speak
- 4:28Speaker 2: or just ended. So we've got to really see the
- 4:31Speaker 2: report and hear on how he's feeling.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So there's that. There's a lot of other stuff I
- 4:39Speaker 1: want to get into here, but I want to stay–
- 4:41Speaker 1: with some of these guys. The rest of these windows,
- 4:46Speaker 1: Eli Stowers, Grant Calcutta, Stowers is a second-round pick. Any
- 4:51Speaker 1: thought that they think that he could help this offense out,
- 4:54Speaker 1: or is he just not ready?
- 4:56Speaker 2: I mean, he hasn't been practicing. I think that's the
- 4:58Speaker 2: biggest issue is when you go on IR, you're not
- 5:01Speaker 2: there at practice. So you're talking about a guy who
- 5:04Speaker 2: is already behind the eight ball going into the season
- 5:08Speaker 2: opener and now hasn't practiced in five, over a month.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Right.
- 5:12Speaker 2: So now look at, listen, they signed Zach Ertz off
- 5:16Speaker 2: the street and played him. Uh, so they are pretty desperate,
- 5:20Speaker 2: but I think it would be, it would definitely be
- 5:23Speaker 2: difficult to even think he'd make any kind of impact
- 5:26Speaker 2: on this offense right now when he has just barely
- 5:28Speaker 2: scratched the surface.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh, you know, it's funny. And I asked that
- 5:32Speaker 1: question in that, Hey, you traded Juergen, uh, Juergen's way
- 5:34Speaker 1: and got a second round pick. And I said, my
- 5:37Speaker 1: second round pick isn't doing anything for me right now. So, uh,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Interesting there. Calcaterra also practice window open, so another possible
- 5:45Speaker 1: tight end, a guy who could help you possibly in
- 5:47Speaker 1: the receiving game, minimally, not in the run game there.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So the offensive line, not sure what that's going to
- 5:53Speaker 1: look like this week. Devontae Smith, Saquon Barkley, those guys
- 5:58Speaker 1: both could be back. I guess the question would be,
- 6:03Speaker 1: what do they add to this offense if, in fact,
- 6:06Speaker 1: the line does not get any better? They're both nice
- 6:09Speaker 1: skill players. They're very talented guys. But, man, they seemingly
- 6:13Speaker 1: need a lot of help on this offensive side of
- 6:15Speaker 1: the ball. So, with that being said, the first question
- 6:20Speaker 1: that Mannion got asked yesterday, and it seemed today it
- 6:22Speaker 1: was somewhere in there for Sirianni, everybody wants to know, well,
- 6:26Speaker 1: why not have Hurts do more? Can he be a
- 6:29Speaker 1: bigger part of the offense running the ball? And where
- 6:31Speaker 1: are we there?
- 6:32Speaker 2: I mean, in one hand, I understand what they're saying
- 6:36Speaker 2: because they're saying that Defenses are definitely defending schematically. The
- 6:41Speaker 2: Eagles different. What they're doing is they stunt all, they
- 6:44Speaker 2: don't rush the passer conventionally. They do a lot of
- 6:46Speaker 2: stunting up the middle.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And that takes away those scrambling lanes, both up the
- 6:51Speaker 2: middle and not as much on the edges, but they
- 6:53Speaker 2: rush wide. Like their edge rushers don't get inside. So
- 6:56Speaker 2: they keep Hertz in the pocket or they just been
- 6:58Speaker 2: throwing like six man rushes, like getting free rushers where
- 7:02Speaker 2: Hertz can, can barely think before he's got the pressure
- 7:05Speaker 2: on him. The design run, that they used to use
- 7:09Speaker 2: that was really the best one was that look where
- 7:13Speaker 2: it would be a spread-out look, like five wide. They
- 7:16Speaker 2: would then motion– well, it would start off four wide
- 7:19Speaker 2: with a running back, and they'd motion the running back
- 7:21Speaker 2: out into a receiver spot, and if the linebacker followed
- 7:24Speaker 2: him like it was man, then that would take one
- 7:26Speaker 2: linebacker out and only leave one linebacker to block, and
- 7:29Speaker 2: then Hurts would run up the middle. An offensive lineman
- 7:32Speaker 2: would jump at the second level, block that one linebacker,
- 7:34Speaker 2: and Hurts would have– um, scrambles, but it's not like
- 7:37Speaker 2: they've used Hertz as a rusher in the zone read
- 7:42Speaker 2: game since like 2022. So, I mean, if you go
- 7:46Speaker 2: back and look like two years ago or three years ago,
- 7:48Speaker 2: when it was running, it was scrambles and it was
- 7:51Speaker 2: the runs I did. There wasn't a whole lot of
- 7:52Speaker 2: designed runs off of zone read, uh, why teams have
- 7:57Speaker 2: caught up to that. Um, you know, 2000, the RPOs
- 8:01Speaker 2: that there was in 2022 teams club too. They don't
- 8:03Speaker 2: do it as more. I still, I don't think that
- 8:05Speaker 2: there's a reason to not bring it back out when
- 8:08Speaker 2: you're struggling the way they're struggling. I thought there were
- 8:10Speaker 2: opportunities to have him on the run, incorporate it, but
- 8:14Speaker 2: you know, it's not, this is not the first coordinator
- 8:17Speaker 2: and play caller that have not been able to really
- 8:19Speaker 2: get that anymore. So it just seems like that is
- 8:22Speaker 2: either something, you know, we heard a while back, like
- 8:24Speaker 2: years ago, that's not something Hertz really wanted to do.
- 8:27Speaker 2: So I don't know if, if that's still the case
- 8:29Speaker 2: or if they just don't see it schematically as advantageous
- 8:32Speaker 2: to them anymore.
- 8:33Speaker 1: All right, Jeff. Um, yesterday, Sean Mannion was asked about
- 8:36Speaker 1: the play late in the game to lemon. Uh, was
- 8:40Speaker 1: he the first read? He said, yes. Did you want
- 8:42Speaker 1: him to get out of bounds? He seemingly said that
- 8:44Speaker 1: he got pushed out of bounds. Um, I think a
- 8:47Speaker 1: lot of those answers bother me. Should they?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you this, right? Well, no, I, they,
- 8:54Speaker 2: they should bother. I mean, look, I, I understand that
- 8:57Speaker 2: if they run the ball, there's a very good chance
- 9:00Speaker 2: on their average that they're not getting enough yards and
- 9:02Speaker 2: they're still trying to get into field goal position. It's
- 9:04Speaker 2: not like they've won the game yet. They got to
- 9:06Speaker 2: get into field position, but you at least have to
- 9:09Speaker 2: run a play one play to, and this is again,
- 9:13Speaker 2: maybe you sneak them with a Hertz run, right? We
- 9:15Speaker 2: just talked about where you're forcing them to take that
- 9:17Speaker 2: last time out, you know, and that was the biggest
- 9:20Speaker 2: failure there.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 2: One of the biggest failures is, If you want to
- 9:24Speaker 2: just say everything went wrong, it was a good play,
- 9:27Speaker 2: he caught the ball, and just how it happened to
- 9:30Speaker 2: be that he got run out of bounds and that sucks, okay.
- 9:33Speaker 2: But I still think in general, you called a play
- 9:37Speaker 2: that left that as a possibility when you're trying to
- 9:43Speaker 2: take as much time off the clock as possible. I
- 9:46Speaker 2: guarantee you they wouldn't. You know how coaches always say
- 9:48Speaker 2: we would do it again. It's process over result, process
- 9:52Speaker 2: over result. I guarantee you they wouldn't do that last
- 9:56Speaker 2: thing again.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and like he's saying, is he the first read?
- 9:59Speaker 1: And then I think, I forget who asked the question.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I think it was Olivia who asked the question afterwards. Well,
- 10:05Speaker 1: why would you have a route going towards the sideline
- 10:08Speaker 1: then if you didn't want him to go out of bounds?
- 10:11Speaker 1: Why would you run a route and have him be
- 10:12Speaker 1: the first read on the play? Agreed. Agreed.
- 10:17Speaker 2: That's why I said they can say that it's bad
- 10:19Speaker 2: luck or fortune or if he just stays in bounds,
- 10:21Speaker 2: it's great and you do have to wait the timeout,
- 10:23Speaker 2: but again, I don't think that they would do it
- 10:26Speaker 2: and draw it the same exact way if they had
- 10:28Speaker 2: a chance.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Well, and you have, you know, if you look at
- 10:30Speaker 1: the all 22, you've got Goddard sitting there wide open
- 10:33Speaker 1: over the middle. I mean, there's just nobody just pop
- 10:35Speaker 1: past the him. There you go. You got your ball
- 10:38Speaker 1: moving first down, get down time.
- 10:40Speaker 2: You can, you, you theoretically, I mean, he dropped a
- 10:43Speaker 2: pass on that drive too. That could have done that
- 10:46Speaker 2: as well. So, you know, theoretically, yes.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Um, I have opined a lot on this segment that
- 10:53Speaker 1: I think Jihad Campbell has not been very good this year.
- 10:57Speaker 1: It appears that Vic Fangio agrees with me. What do
- 11:01Speaker 1: you make of that whole situation? It sounds like Trotter
- 11:05Speaker 1: is at least going to split time. I would think
- 11:07Speaker 1: that splitting time means you are taking over that position.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'd be surprised if there's a split. That being said,
- 11:14Speaker 1: it looks like they're going to play Trotter at least
- 11:16Speaker 1: more than Campbell. Do you see that coming?
- 11:20Speaker 2: I see Trotter playing. I don't know that it's going
- 11:22Speaker 2: to be more or less. To me, and Vic's usually
- 11:25Speaker 2: pretty honest, it did sound like he was going to
- 11:28Speaker 2: use him at time. Not situationally, because that would be
- 11:33Speaker 2: a tell, but by series. Let's give Trotter a few series.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It sounds like to me that Vic likes Trotter and
- 11:40Speaker 2: is giving him an opportunity to see if going to
- 11:43Speaker 2: Trotter more or giving them half and half Makes a
- 11:47Speaker 2: difference in the defense if he sees better overall play
- 11:50Speaker 2: that would warrant him to make a switch.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I mean, to me, that they're competing and they're going
- 11:55Speaker 2: they're going to see if there's a different answer here.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But I do also believe and, you know, I've watched
- 12:00Speaker 2: the tape. I've talked with Greg Cosell inside. The tape
- 12:02Speaker 2: is out today on defense. I don't think. I don't
- 12:06Speaker 2: think Campbell is hurting them. He may not be helping them,
- 12:10Speaker 2: but they're not giving up like these big, long, explosive
- 12:13Speaker 2: runs every once in a while. I mean, Tootin's fast.
- 12:15Speaker 2: He's good too. You know, the opponent gets paid. He's
- 12:18Speaker 2: not getting beat really badly in coverage. He gave up
- 12:21Speaker 2: one against the Rams. That was an excellent, excellent play, right?
- 12:24Speaker 2: on that final drive by, was it Higby who kind
- 12:27Speaker 2: of made a back shoulder catch on it, but he
- 12:28Speaker 2: was there. Um, this is a good defense. It's worn
- 12:32Speaker 2: down in the fourth quarter because in my opinion, the
- 12:34Speaker 2: offense has put it in bad positions, but I don't
- 12:37Speaker 2: think Campbell is playing poorly to the point where you're like,
- 12:41Speaker 2: we got to yank this guy. Cause I just, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 2: even like people are blaming him for the, for the, um,
- 12:47Speaker 2: the first touchdown of Parker Washington, that was really on Macuba. Now,
- 12:51Speaker 2: Campbell was caught out of position as well, but that
- 12:53Speaker 2: wasn't really his guy. But you can see his eyes
- 12:56Speaker 2: were in the wrong spot. So, yeah, he's not perfect,
- 12:58Speaker 2: but I just don't think he's hurting them the way–
- 13:00Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like people are really down
- 13:02Speaker 2: on him.
- 13:04Speaker 1: To me, it's just more instinctual. I just don't think
- 13:06Speaker 1: he has great instincts.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not keying and diagnosing very well right now.
- 13:10Speaker 1: That's true. That is where I have the problem with him.
- 13:13Speaker 1: He's a great athlete. He can go sideline to sideline.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I just think his instincts– he's a step– He's a
- 13:18Speaker 1: step slow, processing all the time, it seems like. And again,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I think you're right. I don't think that he's hurting
- 13:25Speaker 1: them to where they're losing games because he's playing. You know,
- 13:28Speaker 1: who was the guy that played Nate Geary? I mean,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you just put 47 on the field and look for
- 13:34Speaker 1: him and just target him every time. I don't think
- 13:37Speaker 1: he's to that extent.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I still remember the Chase Claypool-Steeler touchdown where they literally
- 13:43Speaker 2: motioned him right to Geary and had a touchdown easily.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Right there. Yeah. I think the Rams found Campbell last week,
- 13:52Speaker 1: a lot on those last couple of drives and just
- 13:56Speaker 1: crushed them. I mean, it was him and Jonathan Jones.
- 14:00Speaker 1: They kept lining up Nakua and Higby against those two guys.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And it's, you know, I don't know that Trotter helps that.
- 14:06Speaker 1: That being said, um, That's.
- 14:08Speaker 2: What I was going to say. I agree with you.
- 14:11Speaker 2: It's all fun and it's all great to get Trotter
- 14:13Speaker 2: into the game and see if he gives you a
- 14:15Speaker 2: little bit better key and diagnose and run defense for sure.
- 14:18Speaker 2: But how long before his athletic limitations get exposed? You know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: Jihad's 10 times better the athlete than Trotter. So, I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 2: you don't want to rob Peter to pay Paul, right?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Or you don't want to make yourself weak in one
- 14:35Speaker 2: area just to make yourself stronger in another unless you're
- 14:37Speaker 2: making a better overall impact on your defense.
- 14:41Speaker 1: What is something that this– because Carolina scores 30 a game.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So we're talking about the defense. What would concern Vic
- 14:49Speaker 1: Fangio about this matchup with Carolina?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Well, I think this would be a game, because Carolina
- 14:57Speaker 2: has good wide receivers, McMillan and Coker, right, where Vic
- 15:01Speaker 2: would love to be able to just– like he did
- 15:04Speaker 2: last time against the Panthers, I believe, basically let his
- 15:06Speaker 2: front four tee off, make it difficult for Bryce Young,
- 15:10Speaker 2: let his cornerbacks run with those wide receivers until they
- 15:15Speaker 2: don't have to because the pressure got there. But that's
- 15:19Speaker 2: not really been the case. We'll see if Grenard can play.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Even if Grenard can play, what's he going to give you?
- 15:24Speaker 2: I mean, he's got, he's played, he's played, I added
- 15:27Speaker 2: it up, I think, 56 snaps this year so far.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And that's after missing all of training camp. So what
- 15:33Speaker 2: kind of, what kind of conditioning is he in with
- 15:35Speaker 2: JLX hunt out, right? What kind of conditioning is going
- 15:38Speaker 2: to are going to be in to play opposite Nolan Smith, Jr.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You're going to need Ebukedi. You're going to need Epinesa.
- 15:44Speaker 2: So I do have some doubts on how formidable their
- 15:47Speaker 2: four man rush can be. And that might require Vic
- 15:51Speaker 2: to blitz it a little bit more, which is fine.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I mean, I, I'm not worried about their corners in
- 15:56Speaker 2: one-on-one coverage, but, you know, everybody's going to have answers
- 15:59Speaker 2: and they're going to know when a blitz is coming.
- 16:01Speaker 2: And the Panthers have scored a lot of points and
- 16:03Speaker 2: Waller has been really good for them. Amazingly. He's given
- 16:07Speaker 2: them answers in the quick game if they need to.
- 16:09Speaker 2: And McMillan could be a matchup nightmare because he can
- 16:11Speaker 2: move all around. So I think that was your question.
- 16:14Speaker 2: What would, what would make Vic scared is that if his,
- 16:17Speaker 2: if his pressure packages, if he can't get four man
- 16:20Speaker 2: pressure and then he has to dial up the blitz
- 16:22Speaker 2: and those don't work either, that, that would be the issue.
- 16:25Speaker 2: You saw Lawrence get away from a couple. Lawrence made
- 16:28Speaker 2: some plays in the fourth quarter on the run. So
- 16:30Speaker 2: did Jaden Daniels in week one. And Bryce Young is
- 16:33Speaker 2: capable of doing that too.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely, you know, because this is the kind
- 16:38Speaker 1: of game, and by the way, you know, a team
- 16:40Speaker 1: that's played internationally, Carolina's coming off the bye. In this situation,
- 16:46Speaker 1: the team that played internationally is 0-4. You know, you're
- 16:49Speaker 1: coming back a little jet lag. They didn't play last week.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Not a great scenario. By the way, they play the
- 16:55Speaker 1: Giants and Washington are both coming off buys when they
- 16:59Speaker 1: play Philadelphia. Are you surprised they're discussing flexing Philly and
- 17:04Speaker 1: Washington on Sunday night coming up?
- 17:07Speaker 2: A little bit only because the markets– I didn't look
- 17:11Speaker 2: at the other games that week, but I don't remember
- 17:13Speaker 2: that being a week where there's some kind of obvious
- 17:15Speaker 2: game where you would want to flex in. Maybe I'm
- 17:17Speaker 2: wrong about that, but those are two big markets that
- 17:20Speaker 2: generally– There's some talk.
- 17:22Speaker 1: That it's Jacksonville and Indianapolis was one of the games.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Well, that would be a strange flex.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I was surprised. Like, it's Philadelphia, it's Washington. I
- 17:33Speaker 1: get it. They're both struggling. Maybe Philly wins this week.
- 17:36Speaker 1: But this is the kind of game when you saw
- 17:39Speaker 1: Carolina early, you're like, okay, you got to win at home. Well,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you can't lose a home game to Carolina, right? This
- 17:44Speaker 1: would be a terrible loss.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It would be. Well, I mean, right now, any loss
- 17:49Speaker 2: for the Eagles is a terrible loss because they've lost
- 17:50Speaker 2: three in a row. So yeah, that would be, it
- 17:52Speaker 2: would be rough, but it's certainly a game. Interestingly enough,
- 17:55Speaker 2: you know, we do a show called inside the data
- 17:57Speaker 2: with Sam Finkel, our analytics expert. And we start off
- 18:01Speaker 2: the show by saying what the model, the Monte Carlo
- 18:03Speaker 2: model predicts for the Eagles based on like a thousand
- 18:06Speaker 2: simulations and what that, how that compares to what it
- 18:10Speaker 2: was at the beginning of the year. So it's a
- 18:12Speaker 2: pretty fascinating, if you listen to the show to see
- 18:15Speaker 2: what the model says now compared to what it says
- 18:17Speaker 2: five weeks ago.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Always is, uh, That's why when we do who's in,
- 18:21Speaker 1: who's out every week, it's like, man, one game changes
- 18:24Speaker 1: your thought on where that team might finish if they
- 18:27Speaker 1: are a playoff team, not a playoff team. You know,
- 18:29Speaker 1: the Raiders are 3-1. Now all of a sudden you're 3-2,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and you're like, eh, I don't think they're a playoff
- 18:33Speaker 1: team anymore. All right, Jeff Mosher from InsideTheBirds.com, InsideTheBirdsPodcast, PhillyVoice.com.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Plenty of Eagles coverage all over the place as they
- 18:43Speaker 1: get ready for the Carolina Panthers this week. Old buddy
- 18:47Speaker 1: Jalen Phillips, part of that Carolina defense. The Eagles replacement,
- 18:52Speaker 1: Jonathan Grenard, as you mentioned, 50-plus plays this year has
- 18:56Speaker 1: not made enough of an impact for that Philadelphia defense.
- 19:00Speaker 1: But a get-right possible game this week. We'll talk more
- 19:03Speaker 1: about it all week long on Football 4. Jeff Mosher, thanks, man.
- 19:07Speaker 2: You got it, Mike.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Jeff Mosher from the Inside the Birds podcast right here
- 19:11Speaker 1: on the Sports Pass.
