• 1:27
topic. Good morning, today I'm talking to you
• 1:29
about a TV series from the 70s. Did you know
• 1:32
how easy it is to conquer the television audience
• 1:34
when in the middle there are human beings in
• 1:37
harmony with animals? It was no exception in
• 1:39
1974 the TV series Tu Mai e Calanag, Un ragazzo
• 1:44
e un elefante. There's no good much of her. I'm
• 1:47
through. Do not despair, sir. Do you think we
• 1:52
shall find Elephant? There you are. Six weeks,
• 1:58
day after day, we've combed this jungle and we
• 2:00
know the tracks of every rat. for 26 minutes
• 2:28
each. All the stories were then grouped in a
• 2:31
single season. Sleep now and in the morning you
• 2:44
will say much or upper, we will try for one more
• 2:47
move. The telefilm, shot in Sri Lanka, was inspired
• 2:49
by Tumai of the Elephants, a story by the writer
• 2:52
and poet Rudyard Kipling, known among the many
• 2:55
works of the Jungle Book. The producer and director
• 2:57
James Gatward told of having literally put the
• 3:01
island in his frame to find Tumai, the protagonist
• 3:03
of the telefilm. In the end, the choice fell
• 3:06
on the then 12 -year -old Ezrom Yayasinghe, while
• 3:09
the role of Ranit, the youngest brother, was
• 3:11
assigned A bad year, my masters. A bad year.

• 3:46
In the first episode, entitled Providential Salvation,
• 3:49
the two orphans, Tumai and his brother Ranit,
• 3:52
learn that they can no longer be housed in the
• 3:54
Navampur Reserve where they live. The odious
• 3:56
assistant Strang, the actor Peter Reynolds, informs
• 3:59
him that the new director, Karl Bergen, is arriving.
• 4:02
In addition, the two boys will not be able to
• 4:04
bring the elephant Kalanag, even though it belongs
• 4:06
to their late father, because it is owned by
• 4:09
the reserve. Tumai does not give up and flees
• 4:26
into the forest with his brother and the elephant.
• 4:28
During the journey he discovers that a car has
• 4:30
ended up in a swamp, so he decides to help the
• 4:33
driver in the bushes with the help of Kalanag,
• 4:35
who pulls out the middle. In the guide there
• 4:37
is the new director of the park of Navampur,
• 4:39
Karl Bergen, who expresses his gratitude to the
• 4:43
boys by becoming their friend. All the episodes
• 4:45
of Tumai and Kalanag, a boy and an elephant,
• 4:47
are based on the defense of the animal world,
