- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you. Always.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hello, everyone!
- 0:20Speaker 1: Welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance, your
- 0:23Speaker 1: home run geek ultimate alliance podcast network for any and
- 0:26Speaker 1: all things Star Wars. Where I am one of your hosts, Katie.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And with me, as always, is Clay. Clay, how are
- 0:34Speaker 1: you doing today?
- 0:35Speaker 3: I am doing pretty good. Now, we are both a
- 0:39Speaker 3: little frustrated with the new video game of Galactic Racer. Guys,
- 0:45Speaker 3: it is so much more intense than I initially thought.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And we will talk more about Galactic Racer personally next
- 0:53Speaker 3: week on our Galactic Racer podcast. review. We want to
- 0:57Speaker 3: get a full week's worth of play before we review it.
- 1:02Speaker 3: But we do have some Galactic Racer news that I
- 1:05Speaker 3: do want to share with you guys.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It was Zero Company news.
- 1:11Speaker 3: The initial 24-hour numbers I do want to share. But yes,
- 1:16Speaker 3: one of our topics is going to be Bit Reactor's
- 1:23Speaker 3: news about Zero Company and all of that. And then
- 1:27Speaker 3: we have some comic book news, kind of. More so
- 1:33Speaker 3: along the lines of just Marvel, which of course does
- 1:36Speaker 3: license the Star Wars books from themselves. It's really weird
- 1:45Speaker 3: how all of that kind of works out. But yeah,
- 1:48Speaker 3: either way. um we got comics news we got video
- 1:52Speaker 3: game news more video game news and then we will
- 1:55Speaker 3: go on to our main topic of the night aby
- 2:00Speaker 3: or sorry bby or aby lucasfilm's focus moving forward.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And that guys just to make sure we're on the
- 2:10Speaker 1: same page because i asked clay this question i was
- 2:11Speaker 1: like what what does that mean exactly It means, are
- 2:15Speaker 1: we going before the Skywalker saga or after the Skywalker saga?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, like it's, and the reason why we decided to
- 2:23Speaker 3: choose B-B-Y and A-B-Y is because that's the most recognizable
- 2:30Speaker 3: terminology when it comes to the Star Wars universe. So
- 2:34Speaker 3: it is the Skywalker saga in focus. And then like,
- 2:41Speaker 3: what should we be focusing on before the Skywalker saga?
- 2:44Speaker 3: or after the Skywalker saga.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And I think this is important, too. If you're new here, hi,
- 2:49Speaker 1: welcome to the podcast. BBY means before the Battle of Yavin.
- 2:53Speaker 1: APY means after the Battle of Yavin, a.k.a. A New
- 2:57Speaker 1: Hope Third Act.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Correct.
- 3:00Speaker 1: So, now that we have that down, Clay, why don't
- 3:04Speaker 1: you take us into the comic news? And then we'll
- 3:08Speaker 1: jump into Galactic Racer, 24-hour specs, and then our first thoughts.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, so I sent this screenshot of my own email
- 3:23Speaker 3: to Katie.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And I did get this email as well because I
- 3:26Speaker 1: was a past subscriber.
- 3:28Speaker 3: This was actually in my others folder. It didn't go
- 3:31Speaker 3: into my main focused inbox. But it is from Marvel Unlimited.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And it says, important update. Marvel Unlimited is sunsetting December 7, 2026.
- 3:44Speaker 3: What this means is that it's being decommissioned. Marvel Unlimited
- 3:53Speaker 3: is dying. They are killing it. They are putting it
- 3:56Speaker 3: out to pasture. And they're actually going to be coming
- 4:01Speaker 3: up with a second app partnered with their already partnership
- 4:08Speaker 3: that has been going on for a couple years now,
- 4:10Speaker 3: which is Marvel. webtoons it's going to be marvel comics
- 4:13Speaker 3: app powered by webtoons that's a really long-winded name i
- 4:18Speaker 3: really hope that they kind of figure out a name
- 4:23Speaker 3: because marvel comics app powered by webtoons is a mouthful
- 4:30Speaker 3: and nobody's gonna want to call it that and nobody's
- 4:32Speaker 3: calling it mcapbw like nobody's calling it that either it's probably.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Gonna be mcwb Marvel Comics Webtoons.
- 4:46Speaker 3: WT Webtoons. Not WB.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Oh, I was going with WB for web.
- 4:51Speaker 3: You're right.
- 4:53Speaker 1: MCWT.
- 4:55Speaker 3: There we go. Because you said MCWB and I'm like, I.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Had 41 needles shoved in my head today. I'm a
- 5:03Speaker 1: little out of it.
- 5:04Speaker 3: It's all good. It's all good. So important thing to
- 5:08Speaker 3: note with this entire thing. is a lot of people's
- 5:16Speaker 3: scarcity with this was, oh man, this is powered by Webtoons.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It means that everything is going to be scrolling content. Now,
- 5:28Speaker 3: I was about to say WB. Webtoons was like, it
- 5:34Speaker 3: genuinely filled a void for a, like, for a market
- 5:45Speaker 3: that was there in the internet space, for the comic
- 5:47Speaker 3: book space, which was they essentially created this whole scrolling
- 5:56Speaker 3: comic book type of format. And it became super popular
- 6:03Speaker 3: super quick. Webtoons has been a thing since about 2017, 2018.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And it boomed During COVID. That's kind of when they
- 6:16Speaker 3: really started. To push a lot of their stuff. It
- 6:19Speaker 3: wasn't until. I want to say.
- 6:22Speaker 2: 2022.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Or 2023. When Webtoon started to partner.
- 6:29Speaker 2: With.
- 6:32Speaker 3: DC and Marvel. They have both. Publishers. In their app.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But when it comes to.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Like.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Leaning heavily into the format, Marvel kind of said, hey,
- 6:49Speaker 3: lead us along. And we started to see more of
- 6:52Speaker 3: the Marvel Unlimited books that were on the Marvel Unlimited app,
- 7:00Speaker 3: and those were scrollable. They just wanted those consumers from
- 7:06Speaker 3: Webtoons to go onto their app, and that's perfectly normal
- 7:08Speaker 3: for other companies to kind of, hey, can I copy
- 7:12Speaker 3: your homework? But, you know, kind of change it as
- 7:15Speaker 3: much as I can. And while still keeping, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 3: what is really nice to the consumer and wanting to
- 7:22Speaker 3: keep them there. So now they've just said, hey, Webtoons,
- 7:31Speaker 3: I don't want to fix what's not broken. So can
- 7:35Speaker 3: you guys go ahead and make us an app?
- 7:38Speaker 1: Basically, copy, paste, license it.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Exactly. And so, it says here, in the summary of
- 7:48Speaker 3: this giant article, it is Marvel Unlimited shuts down December 2026.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Webtoons taking over the Digital Comics Library. Marvel Comics powered
- 7:58Speaker 3: by Webtoons launches November 16th, carrying 35,000 plus Marvel, Star Wars,
- 8:05Speaker 3: and Disney titles. New pricing. This is the big thing.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Because There was a monthly subscription on Marvel Unlimited. And
- 8:19Speaker 3: there was an annual subscription on Marvel Unlimited. This is
- 8:24Speaker 3: where things start to change. There is a base tier
- 8:30Speaker 3: for this new app.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Which is your standard 90-day window for comics.
- 8:39Speaker 3: The three-month after print.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Now.
- 8:43Speaker 3: they add a ultimate tier opposite of the annual. So
- 8:48Speaker 3: there's still an annual, but there's an ultimate tier to that,
- 8:53Speaker 3: which does give a 30 days after print. So if
- 8:58Speaker 3: you are an avid new reader, so for instance, Katie
- 9:04Speaker 3: and I usually wait for the trade. We usually wait
- 9:07Speaker 3: for the full story. This would not be for us.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Correct.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Granted, I am pretty sure Katie and I have both
- 9:17Speaker 3: been offered a grandfather pricing, founder pricing for this new app,
- 9:25Speaker 3: which is offering us the price of a old annual subscription,
- 9:34Speaker 3: which was $ 56. 99, but adding that to the ultimate tier,
- 9:39Speaker 3: which is supposed to be $ 99. 99. And so they're offering
- 9:44Speaker 3: like basically $ 30 off. I think it's a total of
- 9:47Speaker 3: like 60%.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yeah, 40% off the ultimate tier.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And also. because i know this was a hot topic
- 10:02Speaker 1: at least on threads um if you have uh because
- 10:07Speaker 1: the marvel unlimited app is also for comics that you
- 10:10Speaker 1: have like purchased or gotten in code from the back
- 10:12Speaker 1: of your comic book yes it does state in the
- 10:16Speaker 1: email that we've received that the Marvel Unlimited library can
- 10:19Speaker 1: be fully transferred to the MCWT app. And so that
- 10:25Speaker 1: includes reading progress, redeemed slash purchase titles, and the saved issues.
- 10:31Speaker 1: So like I had a bunch of, like I bookmarked
- 10:36Speaker 1: all of the Star Wars comics into like my saved tier.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So that way they were easy for me to go
- 10:42Speaker 1: back and reference. I could then easily transfer those saved
- 10:46Speaker 1: categories over to the new app.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Correct.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And I say easily. Easily is the ideal term, right, guys?
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yes, because we just don't know, honestly. We won't know
- 10:56Speaker 3: until November hits. The other thing with that is, Katie,
- 11:01Speaker 3: you mentioned the tabs, the codes for comics at the
- 11:08Speaker 3: end or in the middle of books, how they used
- 11:10Speaker 3: to be. I don't know how they're doing it nowadays anymore.
- 11:13Speaker 3: For Marvel, excuse me. But those are also seemingly going
- 11:17Speaker 3: away in November. And I do believe the reason for
- 11:23Speaker 3: that is to incentivize the ultimate tier so that way
- 11:28Speaker 3: people can read digitally 30 days after release. It's not
- 11:36Speaker 3: something that I love. And the reason being is because
- 11:41Speaker 3: you don't own those. You don't own those. Technically, you
- 11:48Speaker 3: didn't own the Marvel books either. Now, I would never, ever, ever,
- 11:59Speaker 3: ever tell you to cast your sail into open waters, but.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna gimp smack you.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I know, but I'm just saying, in a world where
- 12:20Speaker 3: all of these multi-million dollar companies, sometimes billion dollar companies,
- 12:27Speaker 3: are telling you that you don't own anything that you purchase,
- 12:31Speaker 3: just so you know, the Marvel Unlimited, and I'm pretty
- 12:37Speaker 3: sure this.
- 12:39Speaker 3: W this, this MCW D T whatever app, whatever it
- 12:48Speaker 3: might be called. And other and other books or comic
- 12:55Speaker 3: book apps that you actually do purchase stuff. They don't
- 12:59Speaker 3: have the same coding as that of a streaming app.
- 13:03Speaker 3: If you screenshot it, it's there. If you have enough
- 13:07Speaker 3: screenshots to complete a comic, did you know that you
- 13:11Speaker 3: can make it into a PDF? Did you know that?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Big proponent of the scanner. I've seen it happen. Just
- 13:24Speaker 3: letting you guys know. So, in the future, as far
- 13:25Speaker 3: as the idea.
- 13:36Speaker 3: As far as the idea of how this is going
- 13:38Speaker 3: to affect us, I have yet to decide if I'm
- 13:44Speaker 3: going to use my... I keep calling it my blood money.
- 13:48Speaker 3: It's my plasma money. That's my personal spending money. I
- 13:53Speaker 3: have yet to decide if I want that to be
- 13:58Speaker 3: used for the ultimate tier for one year.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 3: I haven't decided yet. but the problem is that email
- 14:11Speaker 3: does not give a, like, Hey, this offer is good
- 14:16Speaker 3: until whatever date, you know? Um, so I might, it
- 14:21Speaker 3: might pass me up, honestly. Um, I'll download it. I'll
- 14:26Speaker 3: take a gander at it. Um, if it, you know,
- 14:31Speaker 3: is ever needed for us to grab a book, uh,
- 14:36Speaker 3: That I am unwilling to go out of my way.
- 14:38Speaker 3: To go purchase in person. Which for the most part.
- 14:42Speaker 3: We have done that for everything. Because physical media is superior.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 14:49Speaker 1: It is.
- 14:52Speaker 3: But the one thing that I also wanted to share here.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Is that. If I can exit out of this photo.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Hold on. It says here. Because a lot of people
- 15:04Speaker 3: were worried that all of the books were going to
- 15:07Speaker 3: be scrolling content. It says here, they will carry the
- 15:12Speaker 3: same digital library that Unlimited hosted. More than 35,000 comics
- 15:17Speaker 3: rebuilt for mobile and web with both traditional page turn
- 15:21Speaker 3: reading and vertical scrolling. So, everybody who was hesitant of
- 15:27Speaker 3: this just because of the popularity of webtoons and scrolling content...
- 15:33Speaker 3: there is going to still be traditional reading.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 3: And I think that's very important because when they first
- 15:41Speaker 3: advertised the licensing of Marvel comics into the Webtoons app,
- 15:48Speaker 3: they showed what was supposed to be a double page spread.
- 15:53Speaker 3: And it literally showed half the page and then the
- 15:56Speaker 3: other half of the page. And I'm like, that doesn't
- 15:59Speaker 3: give the same effect.
- 16:02Speaker 1: It doesn't look good.
- 16:06Speaker 3: So having traditional page turning is very important for a
- 16:09Speaker 3: lot of more senior readers that are just like, hey,
- 16:14Speaker 3: I don't want to do the new stuff. Give me
- 16:16Speaker 3: back my old stuff. And I'm perfectly okay with reading
- 16:21Speaker 3: scrolling content. Like there's just some things that really work
- 16:24Speaker 3: well for it. And then there's others that just don't.
- 16:28Speaker 3: So everybody can have their cake and eat it too
- 16:30Speaker 3: with this app. And I think that's good.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 3: So that is it for the Marvel Unlimited MCWT news.
- 16:44Speaker 3: The next thing on our list would be Bit Reactor.
- 16:50Speaker 3: So the Bit Reactor news, of course, Bit Reactor is
- 16:54Speaker 3: the studio that, of course, came out with Star Wars
- 16:59Speaker 3: Zero Company. They did release a message today. They put
- 17:04Speaker 3: out a little press release here from CEO Greg Forts. F-O-E-R-T-S-C-H.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Don't know how to pronounce that. But he says, this
- 17:21Speaker 3: week we started the process of returning more of our
- 17:25Speaker 3: team back to work at BitReactors. an important step forward
- 17:29Speaker 3: in our continued support for Zero Company. This is very
- 17:33Speaker 3: important because one thing that both me and a lot
- 17:42Speaker 3: of other people, Adrian especially, we did mention the fact
- 17:47Speaker 3: that there was still not hardcore bugs in the game,
- 17:55Speaker 3: but Especially on PC, the game would crash constantly. The
- 18:00Speaker 3: client was constantly crashing. And this is something that they
- 18:04Speaker 3: needed some of their furloughed employees to really keep up
- 18:08Speaker 3: the pace on. Bringing them back in will definitely, hopefully,
- 18:12Speaker 3: get that back up and running. It's gotten my copy
- 18:15Speaker 3: of the game almost unplayable. It happens like three or
- 18:18Speaker 3: four times before I'm able to even jump in.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 18:21Speaker 3: And like at that point, I don't even want to
- 18:23Speaker 3: play anymore because it just keeps crashing and crashing and crashing.
- 18:26Speaker 3: So I'm hopefully able to get back into it here
- 18:29Speaker 3: pretty soon. They also say having to ask team members
- 18:33Speaker 3: to step away after we navigated unexpected business developments outside
- 18:37Speaker 3: of our control and so close to launch was an
- 18:40Speaker 3: incredibly difficult decision, but one that was necessary to help
- 18:43Speaker 3: us eventually bring as many people back as possible. This
- 18:48Speaker 3: team means a tremendous amount to me and I am
- 18:50Speaker 3: incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. Thank you
- 18:54Speaker 3: for our fans, for the incredible response to the game
- 18:58Speaker 3: and for supporting us along this journey. We look forward
- 19:01Speaker 3: to sharing more updates regarding Bit Reactor and Zero Company soon.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:07Speaker 3: So I hope what this means is they don't stop
- 19:12Speaker 3: at just some of our members because that was a bit,
- 19:15Speaker 3: that was, uh, you know, the first statement of this
- 19:19Speaker 3: press release was that returning more of our members. They
- 19:22Speaker 3: didn't say all.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 3: More. I'm hoping because like one thing that I am
- 19:29Speaker 3: starting to see a lot of in the gaming industry
- 19:32Speaker 3: is like the big two Sony, Microsoft slash Xbox are
- 19:39Speaker 3: like basically saying, Hey, which one of us can, you know,
- 19:42Speaker 3: can kill the industry faster. And they're making all of
- 19:45Speaker 3: these really bad decisions and, it's forcing a lot of
- 19:48Speaker 3: these studios to go independent and thankfully because some of
- 19:55Speaker 3: them have good enough fan bases they're able to go
- 20:01Speaker 3: independent i'm not entirely sure i need to do some
- 20:05Speaker 3: research on bit on bitreactor I'm hoping that they are
- 20:09Speaker 3: strong enough to be able to be independent and bring
- 20:12Speaker 3: back some more, if not all, of their team.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be really awesome if they're able to.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I know a lot of studios in programming right now
- 20:30Speaker 1: are leaning on AI to do programming. a lot of
- 20:34Speaker 1: the development. So hopefully they recognize that, hey, AI is
- 20:38Speaker 1: not going to cut it for some things and continue
- 20:43Speaker 1: to bring back the team.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Yeah. But let's go ahead and jump into our next
- 20:50Speaker 3: gaming news, and then it's off to our main topic.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Galactic Racer. This intense game.
- 20:57Speaker 1: My God.
- 20:58Speaker 3: We have 24-hour... numbers here both for steam charts and
- 21:06Speaker 3: twitch so okay current players right now i'm actually going
- 21:12Speaker 3: to refresh it just to yep there we go steam
- 21:16Speaker 3: players right now so this is pc gamers 11 514
- 21:19Speaker 3: currently playing the game right now as we are live
- 21:21Speaker 3: at uh 7 32 p.m eastern standard time A 24-hour
- 21:32Speaker 3: peak of 14,559 players.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay, so not a ton, because I feel like Zero
- 21:39Speaker 1: Company was more when you said the peak.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I'll have to go back and double-check 24-hour numbers for
- 21:48Speaker 3: Zero Company. All-time peak was at 15,415.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Now.
- 21:51Speaker 3: For Galactic Racer?
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Galactic glacier that is all time peak as of yesterday
- 22:03Speaker 3: um we do have uh the store data it is
- 22:07Speaker 3: number 65 now this is way below what zero company
- 22:11Speaker 3: was zero company was able to hit like i think
- 22:13Speaker 3: the top 10.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But i also feel like i also feel like racing
- 22:18Speaker 1: is such a niche like you either like racing games
- 22:21Speaker 1: or you don't like racing.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Games yeah it is very much a niche.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Like i'm Shocker alert, guys. I'm playing Galactic Racer right now. Like,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I have beat the qualifier. Am I on cadet level?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Yes, I am. But I'm playing it. I have played it,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I think, for about two hours so far. So.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I have not finished the qualifier because, my God. Again,
- 22:49Speaker 3: we will have more information on the actual gameplay next week.
- 22:55Speaker 3: It is in the top 10 for top sellers. It
- 22:59Speaker 3: is in the top 20 for the wishlist activity. Okay.
- 23:03Speaker 3: It currently has 37,000 followers on steam. As far as like, Hey,
- 23:08Speaker 3: we wanted to make sure that we are currently getting
- 23:10Speaker 3: news whenever it pops up. Um, and it currently has
- 23:14Speaker 3: 2063 reviews within 24 hours. Um, so that's pretty cool. Um,
- 23:20Speaker 3: currently Twitch. So this is viewership right now. There is 23,407
- 23:25Speaker 3: people currently watching people play this game.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:26Speaker 3: 24-hour peak as 33,210 viewers. And the all-time peak of
- 23:29Speaker 3: yesterday was 95,638 viewers for the game Galactic Racer.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Okay.
- 23:31Speaker 3: That's awesome. Really, really good numbers.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Let me ask Matt a question.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I am really curious to see how this goes. And
- 24:06Speaker 3: the reason why, the reason why I am curious on
- 24:11Speaker 3: how this goes, and I want to get the actual
- 24:13Speaker 3: quote here, because there is Galactic, not Galactus, Galactic Racer,
- 24:29Speaker 3: There was a.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Where is.
- 24:31Speaker 3: I believe it was the day before. It was the
- 24:37Speaker 3: day before the release. Maybe? Replies.
- 24:57Speaker 1: He couldn't remember the game I was trying to compare
- 24:59Speaker 1: it to. There's a game that Matt used to play
- 25:02Speaker 1: and it was a racetrack type game and Galactic Racer
- 25:07Speaker 1: reminds me a lot of it because of like the
- 25:12Speaker 1: different challenges you have to face but then also like
- 25:15Speaker 1: some of the time trial aspects but then also there's
- 25:19Speaker 1: a lot of dying. I'm just gonna say it guys.
- 25:21Speaker 1: There's a lot of dying.
- 25:24Speaker 3: So the really crazy thing Is I want you to see.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Try mania.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Let's see here. Open in a new tab. And then
- 25:41Speaker 3: I'm going to just expand the crap out of this.
- 25:47Speaker 3: And then I'm going to share my screen real quick, Katie.
- 25:50Speaker 3: And I want you to see. Okay.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Track mania.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Look how far we've come from pod racing in 1999
- 26:04Speaker 3: to pod racing in 2026. Now the 2012 is just
- 26:12Speaker 3: a remaster of the 1999. But my God, there's even like.
- 26:20Speaker 1: A, so were you able to, cause I saw the
- 26:22Speaker 1: video you sent me. Is that like you can actually
- 26:25Speaker 1: pod race during it? Because I've just really experimented with
- 26:30Speaker 1: the story so far.
- 26:32Speaker 3: So here's the unfortunate part for me. Currently, because Sony
- 26:42Speaker 3: is a bunch of bantha voodoo, I am not paying
- 26:48Speaker 3: for online play for PlayStation.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 3: But there is a multiplayer.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And that's what I wanted to bring up.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yes, and that played a multiplayer round last night.
- 27:05Speaker 3: And that is more along the lines of traditional, just like,
- 27:09Speaker 3: pod racing. Like, this is just like... But one thing
- 27:15Speaker 3: that the Twitter account wanted to bring up, and this
- 27:19Speaker 3: is kind of like their copy and paste... uh, answer
- 27:25Speaker 3: that they have literally been giving everybody, uh, or like
- 27:30Speaker 3: the answer to like, Hey, when are we getting this?
- 27:34Speaker 3: And it says here, thank you so much for your feedback.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And we like to let you, excuse me, you and
- 27:40Speaker 3: everyone on this thread know that we hear you. We're
- 27:44Speaker 3: working on an update to increase the party size from
- 27:48Speaker 3: three to six players and with the aim of releasing
- 27:52Speaker 3: it within the first few weeks of launch. More details
- 27:55Speaker 3: coming soon.
- 27:57Speaker 1: The party?
- 28:00Speaker 3: You can play with friends. Online. Online. There is one
- 28:06Speaker 3: problem that I see with this.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Couch co-play, no.
- 28:11Speaker 3: That's one problem. They need to update this for couch co-op.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yep.
- 28:18Speaker 3: They need to move like more companies need to be
- 28:24Speaker 3: more willing to understand the fact that although COVID had
- 28:30Speaker 3: us all hiding in our own houses, people within the
- 28:34Speaker 3: same house or even close friends still hang out at
- 28:38Speaker 3: each other's houses.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yep.
- 28:41Speaker 3: And so couch co-op is something that is needed. There
- 28:46Speaker 3: needs to be couch co-op. in these types of games.
- 28:49Speaker 2: 100%.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Number two, that I saw a lot of people not
- 28:55Speaker 3: really loving about this game, but I understand that there
- 29:02Speaker 3: is not a given reason, but there is an assumed
- 29:06Speaker 3: reason and I'm okay with it. There is no online
- 29:13Speaker 3: voice chat for this game.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Because, like, there is a type of mechanic in other
- 29:26Speaker 3: games where if you get close enough to an enemy
- 29:29Speaker 3: or whatever, then you can start hearing their voice chat.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 3: That would make more sense for this type of game. Because, like,
- 29:38Speaker 3: you're racing. You could be far. away from people. You
- 29:40Speaker 3: could be close to what, but the thing is like
- 29:45Speaker 3: the toxicity of 2026 into pod racing can be, I
- 29:55Speaker 3: feel like very detrimental. Yeah. And very traumatic for people.
- 30:05Speaker 3: So I understand the reasoning for excluding voice chat. Now,
- 30:13Speaker 3: the idea of custom races can fix the idea of
- 30:20Speaker 3: a party chat because when you make custom races... You
- 30:27Speaker 3: can also in Sony's UI, not in the game, but
- 30:31Speaker 3: in the PlayStation Sony UI, you can create a voice chat,
- 30:37Speaker 3: a party, a voice party. And then so then you
- 30:40Speaker 3: can just get all of your friends into there and
- 30:43Speaker 3: then you all join into the custom race and then
- 30:47Speaker 3: you race each other and then you can have fun.
- 30:49Speaker 3: You can, you know, you talk your big mess and
- 30:51Speaker 3: all of that, you know, competitive, be fun. But I
- 30:55Speaker 3: understand the reasoning for excluding voice chat in the traditional
- 31:01Speaker 3: multiplayer of this game. Because there could be anywhere from
- 31:06Speaker 3: 40 to 50 to 60-year-olds playing this game. But there
- 31:11Speaker 3: can also be 7, 8, 12, 15-year-olds playing this game.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Correct.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Hey, and I've heard 15 year olds have a whole
- 31:22Speaker 3: lot of, you know, big mouths when it comes to
- 31:24Speaker 3: call of duty and all of that stuff. But call
- 31:27Speaker 3: of duty is a super toxic game. I don't need that.
- 31:31Speaker 3: I don't need that in my galactic racer. I'm already
- 31:36Speaker 3: like hearing enough smack talk from these NPC players in
- 31:42Speaker 3: this game. Um, and I'm already yelling at myself and
- 31:49Speaker 3: my character of like, that's bullshit. Um, when I'm crashing and, uh,
- 31:56Speaker 3: and or heating up my, uh, my speeder. Cause I'm
- 32:01Speaker 3: just trying to, uh, hit the boost too hard. Like
- 32:04Speaker 3: it's guys again, this game's intense. It's fun. But it's intense.
- 32:09Speaker 3: We'll have more information later. But yeah, there's just a
- 32:13Speaker 3: few things that I think that this game can definitely
- 32:16Speaker 3: improve on when it comes to the extra features. And
- 32:23Speaker 3: like I said, we will talk more about our personal
- 32:29Speaker 3: journey on this game later on. uh next week because
- 32:34Speaker 3: that will be.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And just guys so you can expect i like i
- 32:38Speaker 1: said i'm playing cadet mode clay is playing pilot mode
- 32:42Speaker 1: so clay is playing a different level of difficulty than
- 32:44Speaker 1: i am but i'm also i don't play a lot
- 32:47Speaker 1: of video games so i'm doing the best i.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Can we do not at all judge on difficulty give
- 32:58Speaker 3: difficulty levels And.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Matt keeps Matt keeps telling me that because he's like,
- 33:03Speaker 1: I want you to be able to play more games
- 33:04Speaker 1: with me like this could be fun. And I was like,
- 33:08Speaker 1: but like I suck. And he was like, yeah, but
- 33:12Speaker 1: it's OK. You're doing the best you can.
- 33:14Speaker 3: And here's one thing that I think is very stupid
- 33:17Speaker 3: when it comes to the evolution of gaming recently is that.
- 33:22Speaker 3: For some reason, there's this mentality that like, hey, you
- 33:26Speaker 3: either need to be a professional at gaming or you
- 33:29Speaker 3: don't play at all. And I think that's dumb. Because
- 33:34Speaker 3: there's also a mentality of, oh, the only reason why
- 33:37Speaker 3: you suck is because you're just trying to clip farm
- 33:39Speaker 3: and you're trying to get clips for TikTok and get views.
- 33:43Speaker 3: What happened to just sucking? What happened to just like... Hey,
- 33:48Speaker 3: I just don't get this game mechanic. And hey, maybe
- 33:53Speaker 3: I'm just stupid and can't figure out this puzzle. You know,
- 33:56Speaker 3: what happened to those moments in gaming? It's very silly.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I just think people, it's a video game. You just
- 34:04Speaker 3: need to relax. You just need to have fun. And
- 34:07Speaker 3: right now, that's what I'm doing. And I'm hoping, Katie,
- 34:11Speaker 3: that you're having a lot of fun with it too.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I am.
- 34:13Speaker 1: The biggest issue that I'm running into, guys, is I
- 34:16Speaker 1: am a stressful video game player. So, like, I literally am, like,
- 34:22Speaker 1: clamped down on the A button, like, the entire time. Like,
- 34:26Speaker 1: I played it for an hour last night and an
- 34:29Speaker 1: hour this morning. Because I drive to Greenville for an appointment, guys.
- 34:33Speaker 1: But my thumb... And my palm are very sore from
- 34:40Speaker 1: how intently. Matt's like, you have death grip on this controller.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Are you okay?
- 34:46Speaker 3: Katie, I'm going to tell you this. And I don't
- 34:50Speaker 3: know when you'll have the opportunity to do it again.
- 34:53Speaker 3: But there is an upgrade called Autopilot.
- 34:59Speaker 1: That's what we saw that we got to because of
- 35:02Speaker 1: the controller or the next level getting past the qualifier.
- 35:08Speaker 1: And we saw that there's an autopilot skill. And Matt
- 35:10Speaker 1: was like, yeah, you just need that for right when
- 35:12Speaker 1: you're about to turn into a wall and you turn
- 35:14Speaker 1: that on.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I am telling you right now, autopilot is my best
- 35:21Speaker 3: friend and my worst enemy. Because it's like, okay, I
- 35:28Speaker 3: don't know this map.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Let me rely on the autopilot whenever it's available. So
- 35:35Speaker 3: I can kind of just view the map, but then
- 35:38Speaker 3: it's like, Hey, I forgot how long autopilot lasts. And
- 35:44Speaker 3: then boom, I run into a wall because I wasn't
- 35:47Speaker 3: paying attention.
- 35:48Speaker 1: So give me one second. The toddler wants to say
- 35:50Speaker 1: good night. Okay.
- 35:52Speaker 3: So it's, It's a fun game. Again, we will have
- 35:56Speaker 3: more information on in detail personal experiences for the game.
- 36:07Speaker 3: We will tell you guys more about things like the
- 36:10Speaker 3: time trials and things like that. There's an eliminator mode.
- 36:14Speaker 3: There's a lot of cool things with this game. I
- 36:17Speaker 3: know that there is a league for the campaign but
- 36:27Speaker 3: i would be really interested and and i think like
- 36:30Speaker 3: after this we can move on to our main topic
- 36:33Speaker 3: but like there's there's a lot to like to be
- 36:38Speaker 3: said about how live service games right now are kind
- 36:43Speaker 3: of like in treading waters because a lot of them
- 36:46Speaker 3: are closing down because we know like hey this is
- 36:49Speaker 3: not something that we want but I would really be
- 36:53Speaker 3: interested to know how much of the fan base would
- 36:57Speaker 3: be willing to say, Hey, we want a live service
- 37:06Speaker 3: league for this pod racing game where we can create
- 37:10Speaker 3: our own characters, where we can genuinely keep building on
- 37:16Speaker 3: our specific racer.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:20Speaker 3: I'm curious to know if the company that made Galactic
- 37:28Speaker 3: Racer is even contemplating on if that is something that
- 37:31Speaker 3: can actually happen.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I don't think that's sustainable because I just saw that
- 37:38Speaker 1: the Mario Kart Tour one actually just shuttered its servers.
- 37:46Speaker 1: So now the game no longer works entirely. I just
- 37:49Speaker 1: don't think that's something that's sustainable nowadays, unfortunately. Cause like
- 37:55Speaker 1: for me, Matt's like, Oh, you have all these options
- 37:57Speaker 1: to like customize your speeder and you can do like
- 38:00Speaker 1: this pattern or this color. And I'm like, I'm not
- 38:04Speaker 1: that type of gamer. Like I want to like complete
- 38:07Speaker 1: things and like complete the level. And that's about it.
- 38:11Speaker 3: And that's, and that's kind of the thing for me
- 38:14Speaker 3: right now is the fact that like Like, you have
- 38:18Speaker 3: all of these open options to customize your speeder in
- 38:24Speaker 3: the campaign. Mm-hmm. But I think that that exact same
- 38:31Speaker 3: speeder can be used in multiplayer. I'm not entirely sure.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yes, it can.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:37Speaker 1: So it basically goes in with whatever your current configuration is.
- 38:41Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah. So, so like, it doesn't like really matter
- 38:45Speaker 3: when it comes to the campaign, which is right now
- 38:49Speaker 3: what I'm mostly interested in.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I'm because of course I'm not paying for online services.
- 38:55Speaker 3: I can't play the multiplayer currently now.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Matt has it for other games.
- 39:02Speaker 3: I am not unwilling to pay for like, three months
- 39:08Speaker 3: and play a couple of multiplayer games and then say like, Hey, okay,
- 39:13Speaker 3: I'm done with that. It was a good run. Three
- 39:15Speaker 3: months was good enough for me. Now, you know, I
- 39:18Speaker 3: won't be paying for this anymore type of thing. But
- 39:21Speaker 3: we'll see. We will see for sure. But Katie, that
- 39:26Speaker 3: does move us into our main topic. of the night
- 39:32Speaker 3: which is of course BBY or ABY Lucasfilm's focus moving
- 39:39Speaker 3: forward after the Skywalker saga.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Now Katie.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I have two different responses here from Discord, one from
- 39:53Speaker 3: Carson and one from Colin. Carson says here, it makes
- 39:59Speaker 3: a lot of sense from a business standpoint. The sequels
- 40:02Speaker 3: made a ton of money and there is low confidence
- 40:05Speaker 3: on spinoffs after Mando. I'm wondering if we will get
- 40:10Speaker 3: caught up onto the present part of the timeline where
- 40:14Speaker 3: almost all movies and TV shows will take place after
- 40:18Speaker 3: episode nine. As for continuing the saga, could we see
- 40:23Speaker 3: a new faction of Jedi called Skywalkers led by Rey?
- 40:30Speaker 3: I'm a little iffy on the name, but I'm for
- 40:34Speaker 3: the idea of Jedi being led by Rey. That's me personally.
- 40:39Speaker 3: It says, maybe Luke has a secret lineage hiding away.
- 40:43Speaker 3: We will see after Starfighter. And it says here, a
- 40:51Speaker 3: new Sith, new armies, new species, new government, it would
- 40:55Speaker 3: be interesting if it mirrored the prequel trilogy. Beyond that,
- 41:00Speaker 3: I would love to see a spinoff prequel TV series
- 41:03Speaker 3: written by Tony Gilroy about a young Palpatine, similar to
- 41:08Speaker 3: the novel.
- 41:11Speaker 1: So like a Darth Plagueis kind of adaptation.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 1: In that realm of things. Yeah, I could see that. Um, I,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I'm kind of in the same boat where I would
- 41:22Speaker 1: love to see them go either direction. However, I would
- 41:27Speaker 1: personally love it to see if we can leave Palpatine alone.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I know that Palpatine is the villain of the Skywalker saga.
- 41:35Speaker 1: So that's kind of where I'm like, okay, let's go
- 41:37Speaker 1: our own way kind of thing. I feel like Rey's
- 41:40Speaker 1: destruction of Palpatine kind of leads us in the direction of, okay,
- 41:44Speaker 1: she's going off in a new direction. I don't, brought
- 41:47Speaker 1: up the fact that I feel like she's taking the
- 41:51Speaker 1: name Skywalker as kind of like, this is the new
- 41:54Speaker 1: Jedi Knights and we will create this order of balance.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Like we talked about with the rise of Skywalker was, Hey,
- 42:04Speaker 1: she's got this yellow blade, which means that they're guardian.
- 42:07Speaker 1: They're willing to do both directions. So like, I would
- 42:16Speaker 1: love it to see if we could, like, I don't
- 42:19Speaker 1: mind the name Skywalker as a new Jedi order type
- 42:23Speaker 1: of thing personally. So I think that would be fine
- 42:27Speaker 1: in that, like, we're still paying homage to the Skywalker
- 42:31Speaker 1: saga while still moving forward in a sense. Um, but
- 42:38Speaker 1: I want to leave Palpatine alone for a good point. Um,
- 42:43Speaker 1: And you can be like, oh, well, Ian is still around.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I get it. But also, the dude is old. He's
- 42:51Speaker 1: not going to be able to play Palpatine on screen.
- 42:54Speaker 1: If anything, it's just going to be his voice. Let
- 42:58Speaker 1: somebody else, like, leave it alone for a minute. And
- 43:02Speaker 1: then maybe revisit it at a later point. Is where
- 43:07Speaker 1: I'm at with it. So... Um, I, I would love
- 43:16Speaker 1: to see, these are my two points that I would
- 43:18Speaker 1: love to see is I would love to see go
- 43:21Speaker 1: continue with the sequel trilogy, which is what it sounds
- 43:23Speaker 1: like they're going to be doing with like episode 10
- 43:26Speaker 1: and whatnot. Slash. I want to see the birth of
- 43:30Speaker 1: the Jedi order and how that came to be. I
- 43:34Speaker 1: want to see the dawn of the Jedi movie that
- 43:37Speaker 1: James Mangold was supposed to make.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 1: That's what I want. I was so excited by that proposition.
- 43:43Speaker 1: It sounded so fruitful and that, Oh yes, he doesn't
- 43:46Speaker 1: have anything on his schedule. This is going to be
- 43:48Speaker 1: made a hundred percent and it's dead in the water.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Like my, my answer to the ultimate like question
- 43:59Speaker 3: of AB wire or BBY for me is a BBY.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And like, we've explored the high Republic and it's been beautiful.
- 44:09Speaker 3: It's been fun. Um, And again, the James Mangold idea.
- 44:15Speaker 3: It harkens back to why I love... There is an old...
- 44:22Speaker 3: I say old. Reel it back, Clay. Reel it back. 2011,
- 44:28Speaker 3: there is an animated movie. It's an anthology of Green Lantern.
- 44:35Speaker 3: And the whole premise, there is an overall story, but
- 44:39Speaker 3: then like several green lanterns during this journey are like
- 44:44Speaker 3: recounting like old stories of like either personal experiences or like, Oh,
- 44:51Speaker 3: in green lantern lore, this is what happened. And there
- 44:55Speaker 3: is a story of quote unquote, the first lantern. This
- 45:01Speaker 3: character in that story is not the actual first lantern
- 45:07Speaker 3: that But he is the first Lantern that was able
- 45:11Speaker 3: to create constructs. In the story, it's a movie called
- 45:19Speaker 3: Green Lantern Emerald Knights. And in this flashback of a story,
- 45:26Speaker 3: there was four chosen individuals to be the first Lanterns.
- 45:33Speaker 3: They could all you know, do the very like generic,
- 45:38Speaker 3: like green blasts out of their ring. They could all
- 45:41Speaker 3: fly like all the generic stuff that a green lantern
- 45:45Speaker 3: is capable of doing. But this character by the name of, uh,
- 45:53Speaker 3: I think, uh, uh, oh gosh, Avra, I think, uh,
- 46:00Speaker 3: A V R a, uh, he is the first Green
- 46:05Speaker 3: Lantern to be able to create a construct. And what
- 46:08Speaker 3: he is able to create is a giant sword as
- 46:13Speaker 3: big as a planet to destroy a ship. And it's
- 46:19Speaker 3: really cool. It's a really, really epic scene. I want
- 46:25Speaker 3: that for the Jedi. I want to see like the
- 46:33Speaker 3: first individuals that were capable of wielding the force, like,
- 46:43Speaker 3: wielding the force shouldn't be that big of a deal, right?
- 46:47Speaker 3: For these individuals.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Right, because you have so many force-using groups in the
- 46:53Speaker 1: High Republic Phase 2.
- 46:55Speaker 3: So the equivalent to that would essentially be the first
- 47:02Speaker 3: Jedi to wield a lightsaber.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 47:06Speaker 3: That's what would be like the thing that elevates the
- 47:12Speaker 3: Jedi into a, Oh, now we are a fighting force
- 47:18Speaker 3: for good. Cause now not only do we have this
- 47:20Speaker 3: weapon of the universe, but now we have this personalized
- 47:25Speaker 3: weapon that we can, you know, defend ourselves with. And
- 47:29Speaker 3: that's what I want. Like I, I don't know why
- 47:33Speaker 3: there's a huge sentiment of who really needs the story
- 47:39Speaker 3: of how the Jedi were. Who really needs to know
- 47:44Speaker 3: about Yoda? The one guy who literally knows and has
- 47:52Speaker 3: almost legitimately lived through all of the known Star Wars
- 47:57Speaker 3: history that we have. And you don't know, you don't
- 48:01Speaker 3: want to know a thing about him.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Like it makes little sense to me that that
- 48:08Speaker 1: is a story that has been left off the table
- 48:12Speaker 1: for so long. And we got something close to it.
- 48:17Speaker 1: I would say with the Dawn of the Jedi book
- 48:20Speaker 1: that we have actually talked about on this podcast by
- 48:24Speaker 1: Tim Levin. Um, It's something close to what you and
- 48:33Speaker 1: I are looking for, in a sense. She doesn't wield
- 48:37Speaker 1: a lightsaber, but she is still very much that exploratory
- 48:42Speaker 1: Jedi that wants to kind of get out there and
- 48:45Speaker 1: experiment with things. And so that could really benefit jumping
- 48:51Speaker 1: into a new area of what Star Wars is looking for.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And the fear that we've had for so long with
- 49:05Speaker 1: Filoni taking charge is that we are going to now
- 49:08Speaker 1: shrink down to an area. And that's why this topic
- 49:12Speaker 1: is so important is making sure that there are still
- 49:15Speaker 1: stories out there that don't involve the Skywalker saga. That
- 49:20Speaker 1: don't involve the Mandovers. That still deserve to be told.
- 49:30Speaker 1: And whether that's. Expanding the writing endeavors. So that some
- 49:34Speaker 1: of these authors. Who want to play in this. Can
- 49:37Speaker 1: do it in other ways. That would be awesome. But
- 49:40Speaker 1: I just don't have a lot of faith in Filoni
- 49:43Speaker 1: to do it.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Yes. And I think we have both like we've both
- 49:52Speaker 3: said why we both trust and do not trust Filoni
- 49:59Speaker 3: with the amount of power that he does have. Don't
- 50:04Speaker 3: get me wrong. The dude's a nerd. The dude's a
- 50:06Speaker 3: Star Wars nerd that has his own right in being
- 50:11Speaker 3: within the Star Wars company. You know? Yeah. Being able
- 50:16Speaker 3: to have a flex of, yeah, I have a regular
- 50:19Speaker 3: conversation with George Lucas monthly. Yeah, that's a huge flex. Granted.
- 50:28Speaker 3: It's huge. Granted, after seeing some of the responses that
- 50:35Speaker 3: George gave at his museum.
- 50:39Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 50:39Speaker 3: When it opened. When they were like, oh man, this
- 50:43Speaker 3: came from your brain. How did that happen? I don't know.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I can only imagine Filoni is sitting there with his
- 50:56Speaker 3: Bluetooth headset, doing other stuff around the house, talking George's
- 51:03Speaker 3: ear off, and George just has his phone on speakerphone,
- 51:08Speaker 3: completely ignoring him and doing other stuff. And then he's like,
- 51:11Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like every once in
- 51:13Speaker 3: a while, he's just like, yeah, kind of reassuring Filoni
- 51:17Speaker 3: that he's still on the phone. Um, but like, I
- 51:22Speaker 3: think genuine, like we've talked about the idea of star
- 51:29Speaker 3: Wars needing to really, and Lucasfilm, not just star Wars,
- 51:34Speaker 3: but Lucasfilm, uh, needs to look at the star wars
- 51:38Speaker 3: ip as not just a story of the skywalkers but
- 51:44Speaker 3: a universe that is full of genre pieces and speaking
- 51:50Speaker 3: of uh because i did mention that uh somebody that
- 51:54Speaker 3: we as the gua follow because of scoops and everything
- 51:59Speaker 3: else is daniel rbk he's Very known in the Twitterverse
- 52:04Speaker 3: and online scooper type of mentality in corners of the internet.
- 52:11Speaker 3: He says, if I were in charge of Lucasfilm, I
- 52:16Speaker 3: would do this. Court Denis Villeneuve or Alfonso Curian to
- 52:24Speaker 3: direct a Knights of the Old Republic trilogy. I don't
- 52:27Speaker 3: know who that second person is.
- 52:29Speaker 1: I don't know who that second person is either.
- 52:31Speaker 3: Alfonso... So, Alfonso directed, oh, he directed Children of Men
- 52:41Speaker 3: in 2006, but he also directed Gravity in 2013. Unknown.
- 52:48Speaker 3: He directed Prisoner of Azkaban.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Prisoner of Azkaban. And one of Abby's favorite movies of
- 52:59Speaker 3: all time, The Little Princess of 1995.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Okay.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Then he says, make Steven Soderbergh's Ben Solo film. Make
- 53:11Speaker 3: James Mangold's Jedi Origin film. Make a new Jedi Order
- 53:15Speaker 3: trilogy with Rey training the next generation. And he says,
- 53:20Speaker 3: I would go with somebody like Greta Gerwig, Chloe Zhao,
- 53:24Speaker 3: or Gina Prince.
- 53:28Speaker 1: All big fans, yeah.
- 53:30Speaker 3: To direct. And I definitely wouldn't let simon kinberg write
- 53:36Speaker 3: it well i think.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Simon kinberg is talented as a writer i think there's
- 53:45Speaker 1: a reason john watts is the one picked to direct.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Direct exactly um he also says green light a horror
- 53:53Speaker 3: star wars movie and let someone like mike flanagan direct
- 53:57Speaker 3: and write it yep As far as TV, I'd let
- 54:01Speaker 3: Damon Lindelof and Bo Willimon each develop a show. Willimon is...
- 54:10Speaker 3: Let me make sure I am thinking of the right person.
- 54:19Speaker 3: They were involved in House of Cards. Okay, yeah. Ides
- 54:26Speaker 3: of March with Ryan Gosling and George Clooney.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:30Speaker 3: As well as.
- 54:32Speaker 1: A.
- 54:36Speaker 3: Master Builder, which I have not seen before.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Doesn't sound familiar, yeah.
- 54:42Speaker 3: And then the last statement says, just let talented showrunners
- 54:47Speaker 3: make Star Wars shows and stop trying to make them
- 54:50Speaker 3: feel like movies. Let them be actual TV shows and...
- 54:54Speaker 3: set in the star wars universe this is genuinely like
- 55:01Speaker 3: legit like no holds bar no trying to sell something
- 55:06Speaker 3: to you like i saw somebody who uh uh i
- 55:14Speaker 3: don't know if you've ever seen any of their content
- 55:16Speaker 3: on instagram or or anywhere but they kind of got
- 55:19Speaker 3: their start on tiktok Their online persona name is Stoobs, S-T-O-O-B-S.
- 55:27Speaker 3: She's a really big film junkie who loves a lot
- 55:31Speaker 3: of nerdy stuff but really likes a lot of the
- 55:33Speaker 3: above line content. Movies, directors, writers, cinematography. She is really
- 55:41Speaker 3: big into films. And the news about John Watts just
- 55:46Speaker 3: made her feel so defeated in like she felt done
- 55:54Speaker 3: with Star Wars. And a lot of people are kind
- 55:59Speaker 3: of feeling this fatigue with Star Wars. And I genuinely
- 56:04Speaker 3: feel it's because of, hey, this one saga that we've
- 56:12Speaker 3: said has concluded 16 bajillion times. I think we can
- 56:17Speaker 3: have 17 bajillion more stories in between it. And I'm
- 56:22Speaker 3: just like, guys, you have a perfectly good outline for
- 56:28Speaker 3: a really, like, not even outline. You have a solid saga.
- 56:39Speaker 3: But when you look at what the very beginning words
- 56:44Speaker 3: of every Star Wars movie is, long ago in a galaxy,
- 56:50Speaker 3: not in a universe... not on a planet, not in
- 56:54Speaker 3: a solar system, in a galaxy far, far away, and
- 57:02Speaker 3: then you focus on one last name, it makes me
- 57:08Speaker 3: want to slam my head against the wall.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Yep, and I get we want to include the characters
- 57:15Speaker 1: that brought in powerful situations characters that started these things
- 57:24Speaker 1: a long time ago 40 years ago to be precise
- 57:29Speaker 1: almost um or actually 50 years yeah excuse me um
- 57:36Speaker 1: and i get that we love these characters i love
- 57:38Speaker 1: these characters clay loves these characters but you know what
- 57:41Speaker 1: we love more original stories that we can fall in
- 57:45Speaker 1: love with and continue to fall in love with for
- 57:47Speaker 1: another 50 freaking years Yes! 100%!
- 57:51Speaker 3: Guys, one of the things that was brought up to
- 57:57Speaker 3: me in this whole conversation of... I don't know. Did
- 58:05Speaker 3: you and Matt watch Lanterns? I have yet to ask
- 58:08Speaker 3: you anything about it.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Yes, it was fantastic.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Okay, so there has been a lot of discourse about
- 58:16Speaker 3: Kyle Chandler and.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Green Lantern.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Oh, bring Hal Chandler back.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Bring him back.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Just continue bringing him back because he's fantastic. Let the
- 58:26Speaker 1: man live in peace.
- 58:28Speaker 3: Well, there's like, there's precedent within the comics on like
- 58:32Speaker 3: how you can bring Hal back and do all these
- 58:35Speaker 3: other things and all of this, right? There's like all
- 58:38Speaker 3: of this stuff. And I even see Travis currently talking
- 58:43Speaker 3: in the Lantern spoiler chat right now. So, um, there's
- 58:50Speaker 3: all of this conversation around Kyle Chandler. Right. And how like,
- 58:59Speaker 3: should he be brought back? Should he, uh, move like,
- 59:04Speaker 3: like what they should do with this. Right. And how like,
- 59:11Speaker 3: you look at a story of iron man robert downey
- 59:18Speaker 3: jr there was 10 years of storytelling And then his
- 59:25Speaker 3: death happened in Endgame. Spoilers for now a almost 10-year movie. And, like,
- 59:35Speaker 3: then he, of course, is... Robert Downey Jr. is coming
- 59:39Speaker 3: back for Doomsday. Doctor Doom, right?
- 59:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:43Speaker 3: You look at something like Star Wars. 50 years. 50 years.
- 59:46Speaker 3: 50 years.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: And 20 years of stories that you threw out the window.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Yeah, honestly. You look at Superman. Between the time of
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: his debut in comics to the time of his death.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: We'll just give his death as my point here. That
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: is 60 years for that character to... To be known
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: and loved and all of this other stuff. Right?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Now let's look at Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia. Princess Leia,
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Carrie Fisher, died almost 10 years ago now.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: So that's 40 years. 40 years of this character... just
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: being loved and appreciated. And even more stories of that character,
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: even after her death, she is a loved character within
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: the franchise. Just like DC comics is more than Superman.
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: DC comics is more than Batman. Marvel comics is more
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: than Iron Man. Star Wars is more than the Skywalkers.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Yep. 100%. And I, Like, I think that Lucasfilm has
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: missed the point of Andor, has missed the point of visions.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: When we see what happens when you put faith in
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: somebody to develop a story and develop it well and
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: give them the resources it takes. And now, don't get
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: me wrong, Andor, like, Acolyte, I love these stories here.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: We're the budgets over the top. Yes, but there is
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: still a way for you to say, hey, here's your money.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Develop a story that works within this budget. If that's okay,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: take it to the movie theater so we can make
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: our money back better than a streaming service television show,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: which we all knew was doomed to fail anyways. It
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: is what it is. But make those movies instead of
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: making a TV show with it. Like Daniel said, treat
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: a TV show like a freaking TV show and stop
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: acting like it's supposed to be this big budget production
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: movie situation. We can make these characters that we know
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and love and have original stories with them and develop
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: new cult classics instead of of retelling the same damn
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: story over and over again.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Now, what I kind of.
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: I wanted to bring up also, because this thought literally
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: hit my brain this morning. Because I was like, okay,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: we're going to be talking about this topic in particular.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Let me think about more reasons why I want this
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: to happen within Lucasfilm and everything else. And I want
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: to go back to... last week's episode when i said
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: again this is just a rumor currently but there is
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: rumored to be two 2d animated movies as well as
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: one cgi animated pixar-ish type of film yep i think
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: although again animation is for everybody not just for kids
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: I want to reiterate that, but I think because of
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: the boomer mentality that cartoons are just for kids, they're
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: going to take this the wrong way. Making genre films
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: for just animated is still the wrong way to go.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: Like I'm going to be excited. If they announce these
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: three animated movies and they have nothing to do with
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: the Skywalker saga, awesome. You're not going to get eyes
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: on those three films because you are not trusting your
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: own IP with the greater audience. Because you yourself, as
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: a studio, believe that cartoons are just for kids. That's
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: the unfortunate thing.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: And I just kind of want to talk on that
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: because I saw one of my favorite authors has agreed
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to license one of their best trilogies to the company
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Real Shorts. Which is basically like a TikTok episode. Vertical... Oh, God.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Vertical media. And I just shook my head at it.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: I'm like, you're... making these commitments to tell a story.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: And is this really the way you want to tell
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the story? Like, especially they're like, we don't agree with
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: generative AI, except when it can be used to avoid
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: hurting people or animals. Like they talked about how the
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: wife of this husband, wife duo is, was traumatized by
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: a Soviet Union movie that had a real horse that
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: broke its leg in the movie and they left that
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: horse in the movie. And how she was traumatized by it.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: So they're like, in this case, we would agree. AI
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: is a good use here. I'm like, okay, fine. But
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: it's like, we're choosing to tell stories now to match
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: an audience's perspective here that is is that really the
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: audience we want to capture yeah at the end of
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the day and it just brings me back to the
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: whole star wars conversation because star wars is going back
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: into this lazy storytelling aspect where we've said okay all
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: of these original stories cost too much and they're too
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: complex for this new generation to adapt to that's not
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the way to tell a story.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: I hate it. I hate it. I absolutely hate it. Yeah.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: I think that there's a lot of people and unfortunately
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: I'm in this mentality of I'll believe it when I
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: see it. But there is this idea that due to
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: everything kind of going wrong Into of course this new.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: In shitification. In the entertainment. Industry. Yeah. That there's going
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: to be a renaissance. Again. Unfortunately just due to the.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: In shitification of everything. I'll believe it when I see it.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: And I hope. I genuinely hope. Because the moment. That
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: I genuinely see. Star Wars is political, so I'm just
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: going to go ahead and say this. The way that
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Mandani is bringing this new wave of happiness over New
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: York or New York City, I can't wait until we
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: have individuals like that in certain industries. If I could
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: have a Mandani... in Lucasfilm or Mamdani just in Hollywood
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: in general.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: Like, and actually see evidence of that and like uplifting
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: and like genuinely like saying like, Hey, art is before
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: money the way that it always should have been. And
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: the money will come like that. I need to see
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: that again before I die, please.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: But I genuinely hope that in the near future, we
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: see this renaissance of... Because I think with that renaissance,
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: we'll have the clarifying... Hey, we have an entire IP
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: that's based off of a galaxy... and not this one
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: thing called the new republic or not this one entity
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: called the jedi or hey not because you even.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Have you even have like the chis ascendancy trilogy out
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: there where you're like this is a whole government out
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: here and they deal with all these different things like
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: that is i think the trilogy we're going to make
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: sure to cover in 2027 have fun with this clay
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: yes but i like there's so much potential out there
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: for the unknown regions the empire like if you wanted
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: to say oh like the the empire in the unknown
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: regions when they go off after aftermath and alphabet squadron
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: kind of thing like There's so much out there that's
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: rich storytelling that is not just the New Republic. You
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: could do the New New Republic. The Old Republic.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Like, genuinely? Like, let's go back to the, like, biggest
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: rumors of 2010s. Knights of the Old Republic. The Old Republic. Like, this...
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: That era of Legends has been so untouched.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Literally.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Like, almost to a point of, like, it's becoming relics.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: It's genuinely just sitting, becoming dust. It's not... The dust
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: has long since been settled.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Becoming Dust.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Nine books in Star Wars Legends. If you include Dawn....
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: If you include Dawn of the Jedi. Nine books. Before
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Darth Plagueis.
- 1:10:56Speaker 3: That's it. I think that you could legitimately... Go into that.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: And make it canon.
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: And... like the Sith Wars.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: Yes. Like it's, it's been like, cause, cause that was
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: one of the things that even like Travis and the
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: guys over at the geek verse kind of, uh, touched
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: upon of like this new era of star Wars. Like
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: what if it's this like doom and gloom, like, like, cause,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: cause Travis is always like, Oh, not, not the dark
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: days again. Like not, not the dark times again. But, like, genuinely,
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: at this point, we want something so, like, original that
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: it's unoriginal to a point of, like, bring in a
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: new wave of Sith. Like, an overwhelming, like, hey, this
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: is Empire Strikes Back before even A New Hope. Like,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: this is not Revenge of the Sith. This is the
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: return of the Sith, you know, type of thing. And
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: I would say go for it because we need something.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: I need something.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: And I think going alongside the idea of what I
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: was saying with the first Jedi or whatever, the whole
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: freaking idea of the Star Wars galaxy to even... Again,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: I love that every single conversation I.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Am a part of in this podcast goes back to
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: the Freddie Prince jr. Interview. He says it's all about balance.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: So even if we are introduced to the first Jedi,
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: we then have to be introduced to the first set.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: Like it's so it's just, it's all there. It is
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: literally star Wars writes itself sometimes. And you don't even
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: have to try to, But people, and I say people,
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: I mean these suits, these people in charge are so
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: infatuated with, oh, well, can we just make a billion
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: dollars again by doing the same thing that we did
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: so that way people will spend a billion dollars again?
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: That's not how that works. That has never been how
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: it works.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: You make a billion dollars by making the thing That
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: becomes a cult classic. Or by telling such a good story.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: That you have good word of mouth. That then makes
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: you that.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: I want to know. Has there ever been. A genuine.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: Hey.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: Can lightning strike twice? When was the last time.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: In movies. That.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: That, hey, we've made a billion dollars, and we made
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: another billion dollars, and we made another billion dollars, and
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: it be a carbon copy of itself. Avatar?
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: I hate that series so much. I hate it. God
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: damn it, Katie.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: But am I wrong?
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Oh, you're not wrong. That's so dumb. Oh, I hate it. Oh,
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I think that's where we have to end the podcast. Honestly. God. Okay.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I feel like we've kind of hit the circle.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: So, but like my, my whole point is the fact
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: that like, we, we need originality. We need creativity and like,
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: We see the fatigue in even the people involved in
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: the creative process when the suits get involved and they're like, Hey,
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: do that thing again. And they're like, that's not what
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: the plan was, but okay. You're going to regret this.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: Like again, look at Joker too. I think that's one
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: of the biggest things for me is like, you look
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: at Joker and then you look at Joker too. And
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: you're just like, That's when you got too greedy.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: You know?
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: And literally both your director and actor said, nah, I
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: don't want to do this again. And then you offered
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: them a crap ton of money that said, do this again.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: And that's what you get. All right. Thanks for the check.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: Peace out.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: And that's what happened.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong. I think Lady Gaga is
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: a better actress than she is a singer. And I
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: still hate a joke or two.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: Wild. All right, guys. Well, that is it for the podcast.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: I hope you guys lasted this long. I'm going to
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: have to clip that. I'm going to have to clip Avatar. Oh, man.

- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Yeah.

- 1:18:13Speaker 1: And if you at me, I'll respond.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Katie has done the very responsible thing and said, like, hey,
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: social media... gonna step away for a little bit yeah
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: i i have not been able to be so bold
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: uh but yeah.

- 1:18:54Speaker 1: And then on the 22nd, we are finally doing our
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: Master of Evil second review where Katie actually listens to
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: the whole book and processes everything with the brand new
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: information from a year ago that Clay revealed in the
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: review and That I still haven't gone back and listened to.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: So that is the plan for October 22nd, guys. And
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: then for Halloween, we are talking George Mann's Star Wars
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Dark Legends. And going through that mythology book for Star Wars.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: So that's what you can look forward to this month.
