- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to the Reality TV Cringe Podcast. I
- 0:08Speaker 1: am one of your hosts, Beatriz, and I'm by myself
- 0:14Speaker 1: this week. I don't have Delia. I'm a partner in
- 0:17Speaker 1: crime because she is still recovering from her surgery that
- 0:22Speaker 1: she had a couple weeks ago, and she's still not
- 0:24Speaker 1: one feeling up to talk mad shit about these lunatics
- 0:29Speaker 1: on our TV. So she still needs her rest and
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm just here taking over the show, taking over the
- 0:37Speaker 1: show just for this week while she's still recovering. And
- 0:41Speaker 1: next week she hopes to be back on the pod
- 0:44Speaker 1: like normal, hopefully like with no issues or anything like that.
- 0:50Speaker 1: She doesn't want anybody to worry about her, so please
- 0:52Speaker 1: don't like be afraid or anything like. She's okay. She's
- 0:56Speaker 1: just still recovering, and recovering takes time, you know, after sir,
- 1:00Speaker 1: y'all know. So she's doing okay, she's just resting. So
- 1:05Speaker 1: I am here and I am a little lonely. So
- 1:08Speaker 1: I found this broom in a dumpster behind the seven
- 1:13Speaker 1: eleven and I put Delia's wig on it. So those
- 1:17Speaker 1: of you on audio listening you don't see this, but
- 1:21Speaker 1: YouTube you'll see this little prop over here, and we're
- 1:25Speaker 1: gonna pretend like she's sitting in this is my Wilson Okay,
- 1:29Speaker 1: because I'm on this island of reality TV Gridge by myself.
- 1:33Speaker 1: All right, So to issue the disclaimer, which I never
- 1:37Speaker 1: usually do, but hide your wife, hide your kids. This
- 1:40Speaker 1: is a politically incorrect podcast, especially with me on here. Okay,
- 1:44Speaker 1: I am offensive, I got dumb opinions. I'm objectively stupid.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So if you're sensitive, I don't know why you're here,

- 2:24Speaker 1: in the algorithm. And we are still like slowly on
- 2:28Speaker 1: the climb up to six thousand subscribers. I don't know
- 2:30Speaker 1: why it's taking so long. I feel like we're getting
- 2:32Speaker 1: shadow band, but if you could, you know, do all
- 2:35Speaker 1: the things for the algorithm, that would be really helpful. Okay,
- 2:39Speaker 1: so this week we're gonna cover Sister Wives. Last week
- 2:43Speaker 1: we missed episode six because Delia had just had her
- 2:46Speaker 1: surgery and we just canceled everything. But just to give
- 2:49Speaker 1: like a brief recap from last week's episode, we had
- 2:53Speaker 1: Cody skyping Mary and Janelle to talk about like an
- 2:58Speaker 1: offer that they got on Kyoe Pass, and that shit
- 3:02Speaker 1: was awkward as hell to watch man because Mary and
- 3:05Speaker 1: Janelle don't want to be there. They hate Cody's guts,
- 3:08Speaker 1: but they're just not saying it because I don't know.
- 3:11Speaker 1: They're trying to be nice. Why I don't get it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And Cody is like performing as all narcissists do. He's
- 3:19Speaker 1: trying to act all nice, he's trying to act all cordial.
- 3:22Speaker 1: He's like, I don't know why they can't just be
- 3:24Speaker 1: friendly to me? Like what did I do? Why can't
- 3:27Speaker 1: they just be friendly to me? Dude, nobody likes you.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You're literally the worst person in the history of ever.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So what do you expect Nobody's gonna be like Chipper
- 3:37Speaker 1: to jump on a skype call with you to talk
- 3:39Speaker 1: about Coyote Pass that should have been settled like four
- 3:42Speaker 1: years ago, but whatever, So they got an offer on
- 3:45Speaker 1: Coyote Pass. It looks like things are moving. Allegedly he
- 3:49Speaker 1: has at this point in time already like moved around
- 3:53Speaker 1: the titles so that way everybody is on their own
- 3:58Speaker 1: plots of land, or like everybody will get their own
- 4:01Speaker 1: twenty five percent cut once everything is sold. So like
- 4:04Speaker 1: at this point, you know, I think tensions are still
- 4:07Speaker 1: a little weird, still a little high, because they just
- 4:10Speaker 1: want this shit over with and they want their ties
- 4:12Speaker 1: to Cody to be immediately cut and be done. But
- 4:16Speaker 1: Cody's oblivious because he thinks that everybody in the world
- 4:18Speaker 1: should love him and should adore him and respect him
- 4:21Speaker 1: because he could do no wrong. And so we had
- 4:23Speaker 1: that skype call last week, which was awkward and infuriating.
- 4:28Speaker 1: And then we also have Cody telling Robin that he
- 4:32Speaker 1: got some email from some woman who allegedly wants to
- 4:37Speaker 1: be a part of their life and be a polygamous wife,
- 4:41Speaker 1: which is a crock of shit, because ain't nobody, ain't
- 4:45Speaker 1: nobody reaching out to Cody Brown via email saying like, hey, daddy,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I really want to be married to you because you're
- 4:54Speaker 1: such a hunk of hunk of burning love and like
- 4:55Speaker 1: I would love to be your second wife now that
- 4:58Speaker 1: the other women are gone, Like nobody is doing that,
- 5:01Speaker 1: but we're pretending like this happened. And then Robin says
- 5:05Speaker 1: some weird comment last week that I just wanted to
- 5:07Speaker 1: highlight that she could totally understand why young women would
- 5:12Speaker 1: be attracted to Cody because he's an older man who
- 5:16Speaker 1: is established, and he is marriageable material because he's already married.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Like Robin literally said that with her words, anybody else
- 5:27Speaker 1: thought that was weird. I thought that was crazy. I
- 5:29Speaker 1: thought she was low key talking about herself there, But
- 5:32Speaker 1: I don't know, it's up to interpretation. And so that
- 5:36Speaker 1: was pretty much the gist of last week. I know
- 5:39Speaker 1: I'm missing some stuff, but I just wanted to give
- 5:41Speaker 1: like a brief recaps to catch us up. Last week's
- 5:44Speaker 1: episode for me was very infuriating, and honestly, this whole season,
- 5:48Speaker 1: in my opinion, is just rage bait, like total rage bait,
- 5:53Speaker 1: and we're all falling for it. But we all are
- 5:57Speaker 1: loyal to the show, and like we're loyal to like
- 6:00Speaker 1: the family, like we've been watching for twenty seasons now,
- 6:03Speaker 1: like we've been following along. A lot of us follow
- 6:05Speaker 1: everybody on social media too, because we want to keep
- 6:08Speaker 1: in touch with their lives and everything, and we care
- 6:12Speaker 1: about the good people on the show. But like, sometimes
- 6:15Speaker 1: watching it is just so rage inducing and I'm just like,
- 6:19Speaker 1: am I torturing myself watching this? And the answer is yes,
- 6:24Speaker 1: but you know we're here. So this week's episode, Season twenty,
- 6:28Speaker 1: episode seven entitled You're Like a Stripper, and I'm like
- 6:32Speaker 1: the poll was also equally infuriating for multitude of reasons,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but like the title, ew, I don't want to think
- 6:41Speaker 1: about Cody and Robin like that, but we'll get there.
- 6:44Speaker 1: So we start the episode off with Mary and Jen
- 6:48Speaker 1: at Mary's haunted B and B, and Mary decided it
- 6:52Speaker 1: would be a good idea to pull out her boxes
- 6:56Speaker 1: from storage of all of her wedding stuff from her
- 6:59Speaker 1: and code and go through it on camera. And I'm like,
- 7:03Speaker 1: was this Mary's idea or was this production's idea? Because
- 7:06Speaker 1: to me it felt just a little awkward and like
- 7:09Speaker 1: we didn't get much information out of this. We have
- 7:14Speaker 1: Mary kind of talking about their wedding and how she
- 7:17Speaker 1: didn't want it to be like a completely traditional polygamous
- 7:20Speaker 1: wedding because she didn't want the like the line of
- 7:23Speaker 1: people where she had to like greet everybody at her
- 7:25Speaker 1: wedding and greet people that she didn't know, which apparently,
- 7:28Speaker 1: like that's a thing in their culture that their parents
- 7:33Speaker 1: invited just random strangers or their wedding. I don't know.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I would never be down for that. And then she
- 7:38Speaker 1: talks about how her and Cody wanted to dance at
- 7:42Speaker 1: their wedding, especially Cody. Cody was like really keen on
- 7:45Speaker 1: dancing at their wedding, and so he wanted to make
- 7:48Speaker 1: sure that he had a dance room in a gym,
- 7:53Speaker 1: in a basketball court. Let's dance. And then we hear
- 7:56Speaker 1: from Cody saying, like, I really wanted to like dance
- 7:59Speaker 1: crazy dances because back then, you know, rock and roll
- 8:02Speaker 1: was like super taboos. I couldn't do that. I had
- 8:05Speaker 1: to dance very pure, tentical according to my church's guidelines.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So I really sucked because I really wanted to like
- 8:11Speaker 1: do my jazz hands and do my purewets in the
- 8:15Speaker 1: basketball stadium. But I digress. Like this leads into the
- 8:20Speaker 1: rest of the episode, where Cody and Robin take dance
- 8:24Speaker 1: lessons at some dive bar in flag Staff and it's
- 8:28Speaker 1: just cringe as hell. But back to Marie and Jen,
- 8:31Speaker 1: when they're talking about her wedding and like they're going
- 8:33Speaker 1: through her shit, she pulls out her wedding dress. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: this was cool because I didn't know that, like Mary
- 8:39Speaker 1: had made her wedding dress. And she's really fucking talented
- 8:42Speaker 1: at sewing, Like I know she sewed a lot of
- 8:46Speaker 1: the kids's well actually all of the kids's like pajamas
- 8:49Speaker 1: and stuff like that for Christmases, and and that's a
- 8:52Speaker 1: feat in it of itself, but like to make her
- 8:55Speaker 1: own wedding dress and it was actually pretty for the time,
- 8:58Speaker 1: like props to her, and she she just doesn't want
- 9:01Speaker 1: to get rid of it because she also made it
- 9:04Speaker 1: with her grandma, who's obviously no longer in the world now,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and she doesn't know what to do with it because
- 9:10Speaker 1: she can't give it to like Leon, because Leon's not
- 9:12Speaker 1: going to use it. And you know, she's like, what
- 9:15Speaker 1: what do I do? Because it represents obviously like a
- 9:18Speaker 1: period of my life where I made it with my grandma,
- 9:21Speaker 1: but also it represents my marriage to Cody, So how
- 9:25Speaker 1: do I deal with that, and I can relate. I've
- 9:27Speaker 1: seen some people being kind of critical of Mary in
- 9:30Speaker 1: this scene of just like, you know, why hasn't she
- 9:33Speaker 1: just gotten rid of everything? Why don't you just burn everything?
- 9:36Speaker 1: And you know, fair, it's a fair criticism, like why
- 9:40Speaker 1: hasn't she just thrown all this shit in the river
- 9:44Speaker 1: and let it rot? Because at this point, it's like
- 9:47Speaker 1: Cody has discarded her. He discarded her years ago, so
- 9:51Speaker 1: why don't you just do the same thing. But I
- 9:53Speaker 1: can understand being kind of sentimental and like not wanting
- 9:56Speaker 1: to get rid of all these things because it was
- 9:58Speaker 1: such a large chunk of her life and she was
- 10:01Speaker 1: married to this awful man for thirty something years, so
- 10:06Speaker 1: of course she'd want to keep it right. But I digress.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Then we get into some letters and things that she had,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and she allegedly didn't know that she had this letter
- 10:17Speaker 1: from Cody, and so then Jen wants to read the
- 10:20Speaker 1: letter from Cody on camera, which I did appreciate because
- 10:23Speaker 1: I did want to know the contents of that letter,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and I did appreciate the based producers for zooming in
- 10:31Speaker 1: on the letters so that we could read it fully.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But this leads into a conversation where Mary says Cody
- 10:38Speaker 1: used to write her letters all the time, and he
- 10:40Speaker 1: used to be very sweet, and so that's why when
- 10:43Speaker 1: he said, you know, a couple of seasons ago that
- 10:45Speaker 1: he never loved Mary and never loved any of the
- 10:48Speaker 1: other wives, that was completely disrespectful and completely untrue because
- 10:53Speaker 1: she had all of this, like written proof to back
- 10:57Speaker 1: that up. Now with the letter, though, it's not like
- 11:02Speaker 1: he was confessing his love to Mary in this letter,
- 11:05Speaker 1: like this letter that Jen is reading on TV is
- 11:09Speaker 1: mainly about him and his work schedule and going to
- 11:13Speaker 1: bed really late, and that you know, we have to
- 11:16Speaker 1: suffer the trials we have to endure and then God
- 11:21Speaker 1: will be good to us, and you know, just keep
- 11:23Speaker 1: your head up Mary and make sure you smile and
- 11:25Speaker 1: be pretty, because you know you're very pretty when you
- 11:27Speaker 1: actually smile. And you know I love you though, because
- 11:31Speaker 1: you're my bff. Okay, Bye. That's pretty much the contents
- 11:34Speaker 1: of Cody's letters. So it wasn't like super romantic and
- 11:40Speaker 1: super lovey dovey, but I guess if Mary thinks it was,
- 11:46Speaker 1: then okay. But I'm just like you could at least
- 11:50Speaker 1: burn these letters, like I understand keeping some of your
- 11:54Speaker 1: wedding memorabilia, like I understand keeping your wedding dress or
- 11:57Speaker 1: like your wedding book, like with signatures and stuff of all. Again,
- 12:00Speaker 1: so like I understand keeping some things, but like to
- 12:02Speaker 1: keep handwritten letters from Cody? Get rid of that shit?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Like why are you holding onto that? It just kind
- 12:09Speaker 1: of proves the theory that like Delia and I have said,
- 12:13Speaker 1: and many other recappers have said that, like Mary is
- 12:17Speaker 1: still holding on to Cody a little bit. Maybe it's spiritually,
- 12:22Speaker 1: maybe energetically, because I think that if things were different,
- 12:26Speaker 1: she would still want to be married to him to
- 12:29Speaker 1: this day for that. For that reason, I have no
- 12:32Speaker 1: idea why, like why would you want to be married
- 12:34Speaker 1: to this man? But I think Mary still kind of
- 12:37Speaker 1: loves him, so she keeps these weird letters for some reason.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I won't be too critical because I
- 12:44Speaker 1: know some of y'all are going to come for me,
- 12:45Speaker 1: But let me know your thoughts in the comments about
- 12:47Speaker 1: like that whole scene and what you thought about it
- 12:49Speaker 1: as well. And then in regards to that letter, we
- 12:53Speaker 1: have Cody in a talking head saying that he only
- 12:56Speaker 1: wrote all of those letters basically because Mary was too
- 13:00Speaker 1: insecure and needed a lot of reassurance from him, and
- 13:03Speaker 1: so she was, so he was trying to build some
- 13:07Speaker 1: sort of confidence for her, and I'm just like, dude,
- 13:10Speaker 1: shut up. You weren't building any confidence for literally anybody.
- 13:14Speaker 1: You actually were devaluing everyone's confidence except for Robin's, like
- 13:18Speaker 1: you were only propping up her, but for the rest
- 13:21Speaker 1: of the women, like you did not care about their
- 13:23Speaker 1: emotional or mental well beings whatsoever, or you didn't care
- 13:28Speaker 1: about nurturing the love that you had between them at all,
- 13:32Speaker 1: Like you were too busy working and too busy pining
- 13:35Speaker 1: after Robin. And then we had a discussion about the
- 13:39Speaker 1: Clota ring. So I guess Mary pulls out a Clota ring.
- 13:43Speaker 1: She had a matching one with Cody, and this one
- 13:46Speaker 1: that she pulls out in particular, had like a little
- 13:48Speaker 1: diamond in it that was given from Janelle's mom, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: that diamond came from the wedding ring that Janelle's mom
- 13:56Speaker 1: had with her first husband, I think is what she
- 13:59Speaker 1: was saying. Correct me if I'm wrong, But Mary recounts
- 14:03Speaker 1: this as like a very sweet gesture, and she thought
- 14:06Speaker 1: that was really nice. And then we get some clarification
- 14:09Speaker 1: about the whole like melting down of the ring story
- 14:13Speaker 1: that I guess we all thought that it was Mary's
- 14:16Speaker 1: ring that was melted down, but it was Cody's ring
- 14:19Speaker 1: that he had matching with Mary that he melted down.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And he did this because he didn't want to have
- 14:26Speaker 1: He didn't want Mary to have a claim over him
- 14:29Speaker 1: at all in that kind of a way. So he
- 14:32Speaker 1: melted it down and some of the gold went to
- 14:34Speaker 1: like jewelry for some of the daughters, and then the
- 14:37Speaker 1: rest of it went to a necklace that Mary had
- 14:43Speaker 1: begged him for years later. And I'm like, Okay, I
- 14:48Speaker 1: don't know where we're talking about this. We get it.
- 14:50Speaker 1: He sucks. I wish we could get more like commentary
- 14:54Speaker 1: from Mary about how that made her feel and how
- 14:58Speaker 1: shitty that was and how she felt like he didn't
- 15:03Speaker 1: give a shit about her like love for him. Like
- 15:06Speaker 1: we get a little bit of a comment from her saying, like,
- 15:09Speaker 1: you know, it's kind of hurtple that he didn't want
- 15:11Speaker 1: me to have a claim on him, but like, I'm
- 15:14Speaker 1: also your wife, so shouldn't I have a little bit
- 15:17Speaker 1: of a claim on you? Like we get a little
- 15:18Speaker 1: bit from her, But this is just par for the
- 15:20Speaker 1: course for Mary, it's like we get breadcrumbs and that's
- 15:23Speaker 1: about it, and then that's about it. Like we didn't
- 15:28Speaker 1: have much in that segment with Mary and Jen. We
- 15:31Speaker 1: have Jen kind of like pushing Mary to get rid
- 15:34Speaker 1: of all of this stuff and being kind of direct
- 15:38Speaker 1: about it, and I do appreciate that from Jen, but
- 15:43Speaker 1: at the same time, she might be coming off a
- 15:45Speaker 1: little hard to Mary because Mary had just gotten divorced
- 15:48Speaker 1: from a thirty something year old, thirty something year old,
- 15:52Speaker 1: thirty something long marriage. So it is a lot and
- 15:55Speaker 1: it's not easy to just like let that go, especially
- 15:58Speaker 1: for Mary Brown, who has been to Cody this whole
- 16:02Speaker 1: entire time and like still hoped that things would work
- 16:06Speaker 1: out for them. So I appreciate what Jen is trying
- 16:09Speaker 1: to do and trying to make Mary move on and
- 16:12Speaker 1: trying to see Cody for who and what he is.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But Mary, I think needs some time and I think
- 16:21Speaker 1: that she can't be pushed too hard, you know what
- 16:24Speaker 1: I mean. Then next we have Cody and Robin going
- 16:29Speaker 1: on some dumb date at some dumb restaurant, and this
- 16:32Speaker 1: is where they talk about their dumb lives and how
- 16:35Speaker 1: their dumb children. I'm sorry, I just hate these two
- 16:40Speaker 1: so much, like every time they're on my TV, I'm
- 16:42Speaker 1: just like, god, uh, it just makes me so mad.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But like, they go to this restaurant and they're dumb
- 16:48Speaker 1: date and they're talking about how their kids keep them
- 16:50Speaker 1: up at night all the time. They're adult children. I mean,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I guess they've got Lil Saul and Ari, so that's
- 16:57Speaker 1: probably who they're talking about. But they're they're talking about
- 16:59Speaker 1: their kid it's keeping them up at night, and how
- 17:02Speaker 1: Robin wishes it was actually Cody keeping her up at
- 17:05Speaker 1: night sexually apparently you and how Robin's like, oh my god,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I just can't believe I'm like this old, Like I
- 17:13Speaker 1: still feel like I'm, you know, a teenager break dancing
- 17:19Speaker 1: and like listening to nineties music. I just like want
- 17:22Speaker 1: to dance, you know what I mean. Like I'm just
- 17:23Speaker 1: like I don't even feel like my age. And this
- 17:25Speaker 1: is where we get into a conversation about dancing and
- 17:28Speaker 1: how they should go for dance lessons, and Robin kind
- 17:31Speaker 1: of comes for Cody here a little bit, which is
- 17:33Speaker 1: funny because she criticizes his dance moves and says they're
- 17:38Speaker 1: terrible and that he's very exuberant and all over the place,
- 17:43Speaker 1: and it's hard for her to try and dance with
- 17:46Speaker 1: him because he doesn't really think about her as like
- 17:49Speaker 1: his dance partner. He's just out there flailing his limbs around,
- 17:54Speaker 1: looking like a total lunatic, and she's just standing there
- 17:58Speaker 1: all shy and pretty, you know, not knowing what to
- 18:01Speaker 1: do with herself. And so then this leads into oh, well,
- 18:04Speaker 1: we should go take dance lessons because I'd love to,
- 18:07Speaker 1: like dance tangle with you, because it's very romantic and
- 18:10Speaker 1: like amazing, Like we should go take dance lessons, and
- 18:12Speaker 1: Robin's like, oh my god, yeah, I would love that,
- 18:14Speaker 1: And then we go in to a dive bar and
- 18:17Speaker 1: fly staff and take fake dance lessons, and I just
- 18:22Speaker 1: don't care, Like, I don't know why the producers think
- 18:25Speaker 1: that we want to watch content like this, especially with
- 18:27Speaker 1: Cody and Robin. Centered I would rather watch some of
- 18:30Speaker 1: the boring content that we have with like Janelle and
- 18:33Speaker 1: the kids out in North Carolina, or Christina David, or
- 18:36Speaker 1: even Mary and jen going through her old wedding stuff,
- 18:40Speaker 1: Like I would rather watch that than Cody and Robin
- 18:44Speaker 1: taking dance lessons. I just I don't care about their romance.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I don't care about their lives. I don't want them
- 18:49Speaker 1: on my TV. But here we are. And then we
- 18:52Speaker 1: have like Cody just talking about how much she loves
- 18:55Speaker 1: Robin and I just I don't want to see it.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I just don't want to see it. Him talking about
- 19:01Speaker 1: emotional intimacy and how that's so important for him and
- 19:05Speaker 1: Robin like how much he loves it. Like wait until
- 19:08Speaker 1: we get to Special Forces this week when I recrap
- 19:11Speaker 1: that shit because oh him writing the letter to Robin
- 19:15Speaker 1: ew puke atronic, Like get that out of my face.
- 19:18Speaker 1: But in this episode, you know they're dancing. They talk
- 19:23Speaker 1: about Cody's dance moves. We have flashbacks of Cody's dance
- 19:27Speaker 1: moves from previous seasons as if we haven't seen that
- 19:31Speaker 1: like a million times. We gotta like put Cody out
- 19:36Speaker 1: on display so that way he feels good in his narcissistic,
- 19:41Speaker 1: grandiose perspective of himself. And we just got to talk
- 19:46Speaker 1: about like him dancing I don't care. And while they're
- 19:51Speaker 1: at their dance lessons, this is where we get the
- 19:54Speaker 1: comment which is the title of the episode, of Robin
- 19:59Speaker 1: saying like, yeah, we and you're dancing, You're like the
- 20:01Speaker 1: stripper and I'm like the poll, like, ew ew, why
- 20:07Speaker 1: tell me this? Why does Robin and why does Cody
- 20:10Speaker 1: like need to make these like sexual comments about each
- 20:14Speaker 1: other so often? It feels like it's almost every episode
- 20:19Speaker 1: now where they have to make some kind of comment
- 20:21Speaker 1: to allude to their sexual chemistry. We know, we know
- 20:27Speaker 1: that y'all been fucking. We know that you guys love
- 20:30Speaker 1: to fuck each other, we know that you guys are soulmates.
- 20:35Speaker 1: That's great and all, but I don't want to hear
- 20:37Speaker 1: about it, Like, I really don't want to hear about it. It
- 20:41Speaker 1: kind of feels like Cody and Robin and maybe this
- 20:44Speaker 1: is Robin doing this, but it kind of feels like
- 20:46Speaker 1: they're only making these comments because they want to jab
- 20:50Speaker 1: at the other wives, like especially Christine, who if you
- 20:53Speaker 1: guys are on our Patreon and you watched our book
- 20:56Speaker 1: club series about Christine Brown's book Sister Wife, she gets
- 21:01Speaker 1: into her and Cody's sex life a bit, and it's
- 21:04Speaker 1: pretty juicy, it's pretty terrible, And so I wonder if
- 21:09Speaker 1: these comments that Cody and Robin are making about their
- 21:13Speaker 1: lustrous sex life are little jabs to Christine and to
- 21:18Speaker 1: marry too, because Mary was withheld physical and emotional intimacy
- 21:23Speaker 1: for many, many, many years. I don't know. It just
- 21:26Speaker 1: feels kind of icky to me every time they bring
- 21:28Speaker 1: it up. It just feels like there's some kind of
- 21:30Speaker 1: ulterior motive. And also it's icky because I don't want
- 21:33Speaker 1: to think about them fucking. These two people are not sexy.
- 21:38Speaker 1: They are not people I want to envision having sex,
- 21:42Speaker 1: and I just hate them. So that's it on that.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Then next we go to North Carolina where we have
- 21:50Speaker 1: Janelle and the kids, some of the kids out there,
- 21:54Speaker 1: And this segment was kind of boring of the episode,
- 21:57Speaker 1: and I'm not trying to like be critical. I think
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's great that they are just like living their lives
- 22:02Speaker 1: out there and they're kind of moving on from the
- 22:04Speaker 1: drama of the family. I think that's awesome. Like we
- 22:07Speaker 1: hear from Peyden and Gabe who's out there visiting the family.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Both of them have girlfriends, which I think is great.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Like Peyden's got a girlfriend named Ava, Gabe's got a
- 22:15Speaker 1: girlfriend named Brie who lives in Chicago apparently, and he's
- 22:19Speaker 1: going to relocate for her. Damn. Okay, that's cool. Like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I think it's sweet that they're moving on with their lives.
- 22:27Speaker 1: It's just it doesn't make for like very compelling television
- 22:30Speaker 1: in my opinion, to watch them talk about this kind
- 22:32Speaker 1: of stuff. It's just kind of blah. We do hear though,
- 22:37Speaker 1: from Maddie and Janelle. So Maddie is very pregnant. She's
- 22:41Speaker 1: heavywood child, and she's about to pop any minute. And
- 22:44Speaker 1: we have like her and Caleb packing her go bag
- 22:48Speaker 1: and like planning her birth and everything like what they're
- 22:52Speaker 1: gonna do and her due date. Like, so she's getting
- 22:55Speaker 1: ready to have her baby. And we have just a
- 22:57Speaker 1: brief segment with Janelle saying that at Maddie has not
- 23:02Speaker 1: told Cody or Robin that she's pregnant or having another baby,
- 23:06Speaker 1: because Maddie has not talked to Cody in two to
- 23:10Speaker 1: three years at least. Yikes, And that's really sad to me.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I'm a child that has kind of I have some
- 23:21Speaker 1: difficult relationships within my own family, and it's really hard
- 23:26Speaker 1: when you become so estranged like that to try and
- 23:30Speaker 1: come back together, especially when some of those people that
- 23:34Speaker 1: you were estranged from, like Cody Brown with Maddie, refuse
- 23:39Speaker 1: to take any kind of accountability or refuse to even
- 23:42Speaker 1: address the situation at all. Like, I'm sure Cody doesn't
- 23:48Speaker 1: want to reach out to Mattie at all. I'm sure
- 23:49Speaker 1: Cody feels completely victimized. Like I think he thinks that
- 23:54Speaker 1: Maddie was the catalyst for all the shit talk within
- 23:58Speaker 1: the family. I think Cody feels offended by Mattie voicing
- 24:02Speaker 1: her opinions and feelings about her lack of a relationship
- 24:05Speaker 1: with her dad and how he very poorly mishandled the
- 24:09Speaker 1: family and mishandled all of the moms and all of
- 24:11Speaker 1: the children. So, like, I think Cody is just bitter
- 24:15Speaker 1: that his daughter's calling him out of a shit so
- 24:19Speaker 1: he would rather sacrifice his relationship with her and his
- 24:23Speaker 1: grandchildren then take any kind of accountability whatsoever. And that's sad.
- 24:28Speaker 1: That's really fucked up and sad. So that was really
- 24:30Speaker 1: the only thing that came out of this segment out
- 24:32Speaker 1: in North Carolina was just that comment from Janelle. And
- 24:36Speaker 1: it makes me sad for Maddie because you know, no
- 24:38Speaker 1: kid wants to be no contact with her parents. Like
- 24:42Speaker 1: I mean, obviously in abusive situations, it's necessary, okay, but
- 24:46Speaker 1: like no kid really wants that. That's not the ideal
- 24:49Speaker 1: like every kid wants to have their parents in their lives.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So I don't know, I just I felt bad for Mattie,
- 24:54Speaker 1: but I'm happy that she's got so much supportive family
- 24:57Speaker 1: out there. I'm glad that Janelle's out there with her.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I'm glad that a lot of the older og kids
- 25:02Speaker 1: are out there as well and they're visiting. And you know,
- 25:05Speaker 1: I've said this before on previous recaps, so I don't
- 25:08Speaker 1: want to beat a dead horse, but like, I'm glad
- 25:10Speaker 1: that even though the family has broken up, you still
- 25:12Speaker 1: have these clusters of the family that are trying to
- 25:16Speaker 1: remain unified, which is great. And then the last portion
- 25:19Speaker 1: of the episode was in Utah with Christine and David,
- 25:23Speaker 1: and this, honestly, this segment was really confusing to me
- 25:27Speaker 1: because I wasn't sure what the fuck they were talking about, honestly,
- 25:30Speaker 1: like it was all over the place. But we see
- 25:33Speaker 1: Christine and David in their kitchen and apparently they just
- 25:38Speaker 1: had had a heated discussion and according to Christine, it
- 25:42Speaker 1: was like one of their biggest fights that they've ever
- 25:44Speaker 1: had so far, Like isert the Homer Simpson meme here,
- 25:48Speaker 1: like biggest fight of your life so far? But it
- 25:53Speaker 1: was surrounding Payden. Now, let me try to narrate this,
- 25:59Speaker 1: because to me, I was very confused. So if I
- 26:01Speaker 1: get shit wrong, like, don't come at me in the comments.
- 26:04Speaker 1: If you guys had other perspectives, please let me know.
- 26:07Speaker 1: But according to David, he was talking to Peyden about
- 26:13Speaker 1: how he is not genuine enough or like coming off
- 26:18Speaker 1: as an authentic because Peyden relies on quotes from like
- 26:24Speaker 1: movies and stuff to like illustrate his points or describe
- 26:30Speaker 1: himself or something, and according to David, he just doesn't
- 26:35Speaker 1: find that acceptable, Like he just thinks that's anauthentic and
- 26:39Speaker 1: like you have to be able to create your own
- 26:42Speaker 1: character or something. I don't know. It was very weird,
- 26:44Speaker 1: And Christine is kind of offended by this because growing
- 26:49Speaker 1: up she watched a lot of movies and read a
- 26:51Speaker 1: lot of books with her children, and so her kids
- 26:54Speaker 1: love to quote movies and love to quote books and
- 26:56Speaker 1: stuff like that because that's just what they did growing up,
- 26:59Speaker 1: and so they're nothing wrong with liking movie quotes. And
- 27:03Speaker 1: I'm kind of on the side of Christine, like, I
- 27:05Speaker 1: don't understand why David's being so critical of this. I
- 27:07Speaker 1: think it's kind of a stupid thing to be critical of.
- 27:10Speaker 1: But according to David, he's just like, I'm not taking
- 27:13Speaker 1: any of this personally. I'm just having a discussion because
- 27:15Speaker 1: I like to have discussions, because I like to be
- 27:17Speaker 1: open to new views and new perspectives. Like, okay, but
- 27:21Speaker 1: like you're criticizing Christine's son though, so that's a little
- 27:25Speaker 1: little iffy to me. Whatever, But this conversation leads into
- 27:31Speaker 1: a bigger conversation that's really about inauthenticity, I think with
- 27:36Speaker 1: Christine and like with polygamy. Again, this whole segment was
- 27:42Speaker 1: very confusing to me, so bear with me. But like
- 27:44Speaker 1: Christine gets into a discussion about how her life in
- 27:50Speaker 1: the past with Cody was so miserable and so terrible true,
- 27:57Speaker 1: and so that she had to escape into books and
- 27:59Speaker 1: movies and fake worlds and live a fake, you know, reality,
- 28:05Speaker 1: so that way she could cope because her real reality
- 28:09Speaker 1: was so fucking shitty. And I can understand that, I
- 28:12Speaker 1: can sympathize with that. But according to David, he's like, well,
- 28:16Speaker 1: but that's not the real world. Though, Like the way
- 28:18Speaker 1: that you grew up is not the real world. You
- 28:20Speaker 1: gotta come back to reality and like be a grown up. Basically,
- 28:24Speaker 1: It's like, that's essentially what he's saying, and I just
- 28:27Speaker 1: think that's kind of weird. I just think it's kind
- 28:29Speaker 1: of a thing that's like very critical for no reason.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I just didn't understand this segment at all, honestly, And
- 28:36Speaker 1: Christine seemed pretty annoyed with David, but she was kind
- 28:39Speaker 1: of holding back her real feelings. And she does say
- 28:43Speaker 1: this in her talking head that like, you know, sometimes
- 28:46Speaker 1: you just have to bite your tongue and not say
- 28:49Speaker 1: how you really feel. And she's still learning to how
- 28:51Speaker 1: to say how she really feels because she spent so
- 28:53Speaker 1: much of her life, especially in her marriage to Cody,
- 28:57Speaker 1: just bottling everything up and keeping it all inside. And
- 29:01Speaker 1: that's no way to live. Obviously. I'm sure a lot
- 29:03Speaker 1: of us can relate to that and relate to, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 1: being afraid to stand in our own truth and be
- 29:11Speaker 1: our authentic selves because there's so much pressure in the
- 29:15Speaker 1: world and society to act and behave a certain way.
- 29:19Speaker 1: So like I can relate to Christine here, but I
- 29:21Speaker 1: just I don't know. I felt this scene with her
- 29:24Speaker 1: and David was just odd, and it also made me
- 29:28Speaker 1: wonder about the dynamics of their relationship, and we've talked
- 29:32Speaker 1: about this on the pod, I think a lot last
- 29:35Speaker 1: season when we had like their wedding special and stuff
- 29:38Speaker 1: like that, like it may it makes me wonder how
- 29:41Speaker 1: their actual day to day life is because Christine's in aries. Okay,
- 29:45Speaker 1: she's hard headed, she's the ram. Okay, she's gonna be
- 29:49Speaker 1: quick to react, she's gonna be loud and kind of annoying.
- 29:54Speaker 1: And David, I think he's a Capricorn, so he's the
- 29:57Speaker 1: complete opposite of that. And I just wonder how many
- 30:00Speaker 1: these heated discussions they get into. And I wonder if
- 30:04Speaker 1: they're only heated because of how Christine's taking things, or
- 30:08Speaker 1: if they're heated because David's kind of critical, Because I
- 30:11Speaker 1: just I don't know, why do you have to bring
- 30:12Speaker 1: up Peydon using movie quotes? Like is that really that
- 30:16Speaker 1: big of a deal for like a young man to
- 30:18Speaker 1: just quote movies and stuff that he likes in a discussion,
- 30:22Speaker 1: Like I feel like a lot of people do that.
- 30:24Speaker 1: I don't see anything wrong with that, But correct me
- 30:27Speaker 1: if I'm wrong. If you guys had a different perspective
- 30:29Speaker 1: about that whole scene, please let me know, because I
- 30:33Speaker 1: don't know. I was just watching this, I'm like, what
- 30:35Speaker 1: are we doing? Why are we talking about this? I
- 30:38Speaker 1: don't care. I don't care at all. And that's basically
- 30:41Speaker 1: the episode. Really, I mean, there wasn't much to it.
- 30:45Speaker 1: It was a kind of a boring episode this week,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and again it's just a bunch of rage bait. But
- 30:50Speaker 1: we do have a preview for what's to come. So
- 30:54Speaker 1: we have apparently a full offer on all of the
- 30:57Speaker 1: plots on Coyote Pass that they're going to close soon,
- 31:00Speaker 1: which is nice for Mary and Janelle only because I
- 31:03Speaker 1: don't give a shit about Coding and Robin closing on
- 31:06Speaker 1: that stuff. I don't think those two deserve anything from
- 31:09Speaker 1: Coyote Pass, the revenue from that. I don't think they
- 31:12Speaker 1: deserve shit. But that's my opinion. So I'm glad that
- 31:15Speaker 1: it's gonna close for Mary and Janelle and that's it.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Then we have Cody saying that he apparently this was weird.
- 31:22Speaker 1: He got to a place where he was ready to
- 31:26Speaker 1: make a back door offer with Janelle behind Robin and
- 31:32Speaker 1: Mary's backs to sell Coyote Pass from under them. What
- 31:39Speaker 1: what are you saying? Obviously this is a lie because
- 31:43Speaker 1: Janelle hates him, as everybody does, and like, why would
- 31:48Speaker 1: you say that on TV? Like you were going to
- 31:51Speaker 1: sell this property out from underneath Robin and Mary, Like
- 31:55Speaker 1: that's not fair. And then you have Robin in the
- 31:57Speaker 1: very next scene in the preview saying that, like, no,
- 32:00Speaker 1: excuse me, this is not gonna happen. We're gonna make
- 32:03Speaker 1: sure that this is all fair and square. I'm not
- 32:05Speaker 1: gonna let this shit go like that, like we're gonna
- 32:08Speaker 1: make sure everybody gets their equal pay. But really, Robin
- 32:13Speaker 1: is only saying that to cover her ass, because she,
- 32:16Speaker 1: in my opinion, only cares about getting her peace. She
- 32:19Speaker 1: doesn't care about the other two. And then we have
- 32:22Speaker 1: Mary saying that there's absolutely no trust between her and
- 32:25Speaker 1: Robin whatsoever, which I do appreciate. I would like her
- 32:28Speaker 1: to elaborate on that. What made you have the falling
- 32:32Speaker 1: out with Robin? Is it because she stole your man?
- 32:35Speaker 1: Can you just say that with your big girl words, Mary,
- 32:37Speaker 1: I would really love to hear it. And then we
- 32:40Speaker 1: have the infamous which we've already seen previews of the
- 32:43Speaker 1: standoff of Coyote Pass with Mary, Janelle, Cody, and Robin.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So we'll see how that goes. I hope we get
- 32:50Speaker 1: into that next episode, because that would be really nice
- 32:53Speaker 1: and hopefully we can catch up a little bit in
- 32:55Speaker 1: terms of the timeline. But you know, I say that
- 32:59Speaker 1: every episod and it never happens. But that's it for
- 33:03Speaker 1: this week with Sister Wives. Stay tuned for our Special
