- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast part of the Action Network.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I am Chad Millman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I am joined as I am for every episode by
- 0:23Speaker 1: my bff, my companion, my capadre professional better joining me
- 0:29Speaker 1: on the Favorites, presented by bet three six five Simon Hunter. Hello, soymen,
- 0:37Speaker 1: shout out.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Another sports weekend, another weekend of drama. I got to
- 0:41Speaker 2: hear your take on this whole Sham's fandul thing. How
- 0:44Speaker 2: do you view these insiders working for sportsbooks nowadays? Is
- 0:47Speaker 2: it something you agree with or is it like I
- 0:50Speaker 2: don't know about this walking of fine line here handed
- 0:53Speaker 2: on information moving numbers and it is.
- 0:56Speaker 3: It's a lot of a lot of people asking us
- 0:57Speaker 3: how we view this. I would love to hear your
- 0:59Speaker 3: view on it.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's a great question. You know, it's interesting and maybe
- 1:02Speaker 1: I was either blind to it, a nerve to it,
- 1:07Speaker 1: wasn't paying enough attention. But it didn't even occur to me, honestly,
- 1:13Speaker 1: Like didn't even think about it. I don't think I
- 1:17Speaker 1: don't think there was anything nefarious going on. I don't
- 1:21Speaker 1: see Shams as a guy who is in the betting community.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I see Shams as a guy who is a newsbreaker
- 1:29Speaker 1: who was connected, and there is a sort of strange
- 1:35Speaker 1: combination of worlds that are still coming together and people
- 1:39Speaker 1: are still trying to figure out where the lines are
- 1:42Speaker 1: being drawn when it comes to operators who want to
- 1:46Speaker 1: acquire customers and also want to be media businesses, media
- 1:50Speaker 1: personalities who want to cash in on betting and go
- 1:53Speaker 1: where they can make a big ticket and do what
- 1:57Speaker 1: they do and using their platforms. Shams has a big
- 1:59Speaker 1: Twitter platform to do what they do. I think this
- 2:02Speaker 1: was one of the first instances where we saw in
- 2:06Speaker 1: real time what is dangerous about it. I don't think
- 2:09Speaker 1: anyone was doing anything to move numbers or to benefit
- 2:14Speaker 1: an operator, but I'm glad. I'm glad hralabab vulgaris Bib
- 2:18Speaker 1: Valgaris he's the one who brought her up on Twitter
- 2:20Speaker 1: and that Dar Ravel did a story about it for
- 2:22Speaker 1: us on On Action. But fascinating, fascinating sort of mini
- 2:27Speaker 1: narrative going on.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it was definitely one of those days
- 2:30Speaker 2: where Woje came out looking really good. I mean, it's
- 2:32Speaker 2: always the battle between those guys and the NBA insiders, but man,
- 2:36Speaker 2: that was one of those where I mean WOJ He's
- 2:39Speaker 2: not working for any books, right, he still works for
- 2:42Speaker 2: the company not named.
- 2:43Speaker 1: So yeah, to me, we can name ESPN.
- 2:47Speaker 3: We love you.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Of course you're mentioning FanDuel on a podcast presented by
- 2:52Speaker 1: BET three sixty five. You can't mention ESPN.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I never I never mentioned them by name, you did.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I'm a professional here.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I got a lot I love. I got a lot
- 3:00Speaker 1: of friends at ESPN, and still I think they're great.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I just it was one of those where I'm
- 3:06Speaker 2: definitely nervous about it in the sense that if Adam
- 3:08Speaker 2: Schefter takes a contract with a book, I'm not gonna
- 3:11Speaker 2: lie to each other. It's gonna tend some of his
- 3:13Speaker 2: information to me, like it's gonna make some of that
- 3:14Speaker 2: info I'm not gonna trust as much, especially in the
- 3:17Speaker 2: sense that I don't know if you remember this, but
- 3:19Speaker 2: we had a whole deal where we didn't know who
- 3:21Speaker 2: was gonna be playing during all COVID. I thought, really
- 3:23Speaker 2: luckyly with Schefter was just honest about her right, he
- 3:26Speaker 2: was like, this quarterback didn't pass this protocol, he won't
- 3:28Speaker 2: be playing if he worked for sports Piker. I probably
- 3:31Speaker 2: what hesitate, so it's It's definitely of those things I'm
- 3:32Speaker 2: always gonna keep in the back of my mind. Now
- 3:34Speaker 2: with Shams is like, yeah, I think he's legit his
- 3:37Speaker 2: NBA insider. I don't think he's going to really try
- 3:40Speaker 2: to move numbers, move lines, but he did. I mean
- 3:43Speaker 2: millions of dollars removed. We saw that number, Flipp I
- 3:46Speaker 2: think it was plus three hundred right for Scoot to
- 3:49Speaker 2: minus two fifty minus three hundred. So it's pretty incredible
- 3:53Speaker 2: to influence these guys who, like you just said, the
- 3:55Speaker 2: dude doesn't even bet like the student's that I'm embedding,
- 3:58Speaker 2: and he's moving millions and millions of dollars. So it's
- 4:01Speaker 2: just we're just in a wild time right now, these
- 4:03Speaker 2: insiders picking up all this money from all these different sportsbooks.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Look, WOJ and Schefty Adam Schefter both
- 4:13Speaker 1: went through this and this is not inside information. They
- 4:16Speaker 1: went through contract renewals last twelve months or so, maybe
- 4:21Speaker 1: twelve to eighteen months, and there was a lot of
- 4:23Speaker 1: conversation where either of them going to get big, mega
- 4:27Speaker 1: deals from operators. Ultimately they didn't. They stayed at ESPN.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And Mickey Mouse money, and well.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Look, I think also for their benefit. They realized at
- 4:39Speaker 1: the end of the day, the value of breaking news
- 4:42Speaker 1: for ESPN is greater than the value of breaking news
- 4:45Speaker 1: for a DraftKings or a FanDuel or any other operator
- 4:48Speaker 1: who might have been sort of figuring out their media
- 4:51Speaker 1: media strategy at the time. Sham's different category, different ideas.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I think this was one of the first instances that
- 5:02Speaker 1: it bubbled up and became the kind of story that
- 5:05Speaker 1: it was fascinating. You're right, won't be the last time
- 5:08Speaker 1: we deal with it. That's the beauty of getting your
- 5:11Speaker 1: news and information from the Action Network because we are
- 5:16Speaker 1: not beholden to any individual operator on the platform. We
- 5:20Speaker 1: report the news, we share the news. We change our
- 5:23Speaker 1: opinions based on what we think is right, not based
- 5:26Speaker 1: on anything else other than that. By the way, speaking

- 6:07Speaker 1: Gambling problem call our text one hundred gambler, Simon. We're
- 6:12Speaker 1: like a month away from training camps, you know, eight
- 6:16Speaker 1: to ten weeks away from the NFL season beginning. I
- 6:20Speaker 1: would say, and this is not even opinion. We have
- 6:27Speaker 1: the two strongest Fantasy prognosticators analysts in the country in
- 6:36Speaker 1: Chris Raybon and Sean Kerner. Not only do they join
- 6:39Speaker 1: us for convincing me every Sunday live during the season,
- 6:43Speaker 1: the NFL season, they are what were they top five
- 6:47Speaker 1: in Fantasy Pros player rankings in twenty twenty two. They're
- 6:55Speaker 1: joining us today. We're going through the ten biggest fantasy
- 6:58Speaker 1: moves of the off season. Ray Bon, see you typing
- 7:04Speaker 1: away in our little script here. But but remind me
- 7:07Speaker 1: what were you? Were you like number two, number one
- 7:10Speaker 1: in Fantasy Pros projections? What did you finish?
- 7:13Speaker 4: I was number two?
- 7:13Speaker 5: Shout out to Pat Thorman who finished number one and
- 7:17Speaker 5: I believe Curner was number five.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Soder snuck in there. Yeah, TOLF five.
- 7:23Speaker 5: We've been talking about that. That was our goal ever
- 7:25Speaker 5: since we started working here. We were like, we both
- 7:27Speaker 5: got to finish top five, and I think, yeah, I
- 7:30Speaker 5: think Sean, you got in it like on like week
- 7:32Speaker 5: sixteen or seven.
- 7:32Speaker 6: Oh, I had to go on in absolutely yet there
- 7:36Speaker 6: that was.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Where you're gonna catch me.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Do you remember Cerner, what got what? What slipped you
- 7:42Speaker 1: into the top five?
- 7:44Speaker 7: I don't remember so long ago I had I finished
- 7:48Speaker 7: first place in week sixteen.
- 7:49Speaker 6: I think it was I.
- 7:51Speaker 7: Just made a lot of bold calls and they all hit,
- 7:53Speaker 7: So I jumped from like tenth to fifth that week.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Do you guys feel like I should get some kind
- 8:01Speaker 1: of credit for recognizing the talent in both of you
- 8:07Speaker 1: and hiring you at the same time, knowing that we
- 8:10Speaker 1: could build a Fantasy Projection powerhouse.
- 8:15Speaker 4: You are getting credit. We're hearing your podcast?
- 8:18Speaker 7: Is that?
- 8:20Speaker 4: Is that really a nice You were doing two more podcasts?
- 8:23Speaker 6: Yeah, check out out Marathon AFC and.
- 8:26Speaker 5: NFC West episodes. We got all the other divisions out
- 8:29Speaker 5: already working hard.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Man, I mean Fantasy Flax. Everyone should listen to it clearly,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you guys are top five projectionists according to Fantasy Pros
- 8:37Speaker 1: and that's an independent, verified outlet. That's not some you know,
- 8:41Speaker 1: someone we're paying to get it done. Congrats to you,
- 8:44Speaker 1: Congrats to me, Congrats to Simon just by being here. Uh,
- 8:50Speaker 1: so many freaking moves the other day. Who was it
- 8:55Speaker 1: the other day that came out and said, I think
- 8:58Speaker 1: it was Melvin Gordon. Being a running back in the
- 9:01Speaker 1: NFL totally sucks. Is the worst position to play in
- 9:05Speaker 1: the NFL. Yet Jon Robinson drafted top ten by the Falcons.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And yet then again, Dalvin Cook, who when he's playing,
- 9:16Speaker 1: is a miracle of a player. Cut from the Vikings
- 9:21Speaker 1: frees up nine million in cap space for the Vikings
- 9:24Speaker 1: Ray Bond. Going through our little lineup here, you feel
- 9:27Speaker 1: like this is one of the biggest moves for fantasy
- 9:32Speaker 1: players this offseason.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Why well, when we're talking about biggest moves, I wanted
- 9:37Speaker 5: to start here because I think there's still value to
- 9:41Speaker 5: be had with Alexander Madison, who is Dalvin Cook's replacement.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Relative to his average draft position, He's still going off
- 9:49Speaker 5: the board as the twenty sixth running back, and I
- 9:53Speaker 5: think he should be inside the top twenty.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Definitely inching toward that top fifteen.
- 9:59Speaker 5: In six starts over the last three seasons, he's averaged
- 10:03Speaker 5: twenty three touches, one hundred and twelve yards from scrimmage
- 10:07Speaker 5: per game, five touchdowns in those six games. Madison's still
- 10:10Speaker 5: only twenty five years old, under five hundred career touches,
- 10:15Speaker 5: so not a lot of tread on the tires, so
- 10:18Speaker 5: he can, you know, they can kind of run him
- 10:20Speaker 5: into the ground these next two years. They signed him
- 10:21Speaker 5: to a pretty you know, team you know, team friendly deal.
- 10:25Speaker 5: I think it was two years with about six mil guaranteed.
- 10:28Speaker 5: But you look at what Cook did last year in
- 10:30Speaker 5: the first year under Kevin O'Connell, three hundred three touches,
- 10:34Speaker 5: just under fifteen hundred yards from scrimmage and ten touchdowns,
- 10:38Speaker 5: so that's eighteen about eighteen touches per game. I think
- 10:42Speaker 5: Madison will be in that neighborhood. There's not a ton
- 10:45Speaker 5: behind him on the depth chart, and because Minnesota is
- 10:48Speaker 5: essentially in cap hell, I don't think they're gonna go
- 10:51Speaker 5: and sign another running back or anything like that.
- 10:54Speaker 4: So this should be Madison. Madison's job.
- 10:59Speaker 5: For this year, for the entire year, and also I
- 11:02Speaker 5: think one other thing to mention here. We love Madison,
- 11:08Speaker 5: but also keep an eye on where Dalvin Cook may
- 11:11Speaker 5: end up, because you have the Broncos are second in
- 11:15Speaker 5: terms of the odds to land Dalvin Cook, Javonte Williams
- 11:18Speaker 5: going RB nineteen, p Ryan RB thirty eight. I would
- 11:22Speaker 5: be careful with those guys. Breis Hall for the Jets
- 11:25Speaker 5: is going in the top twelve at running back, and
- 11:27Speaker 5: the Jets are the third most likely team to land
- 11:30Speaker 5: Cook according to the odds. So there's a few kind
- 11:34Speaker 5: of domino effects that could happen with this move. But
- 11:37Speaker 5: the big winner here Alexander Madison should definitely be a
- 11:40Speaker 5: top twenty running back, still going outside the top twenty.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Alexander Madison.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Hamilton reference, I see you, you see hear you, hear me, cruder,
- 11:53Speaker 5: I mean, you didn't finish top three like Raybond, but
- 11:57Speaker 5: you must have an opinion either for against Alexander Madison.
- 12:03Speaker 7: Of course, yeah, I mean, oh yeah, he's absolutely a
- 12:06Speaker 7: top twenty back. Like Raybond said, he doesn't have much competition,
- 12:10Speaker 7: so he should be a workhorse back this season. But
- 12:12Speaker 7: it was over a month ago when we started recording
- 12:14Speaker 7: Fancy flexes for this year, he was going outside the
- 12:17Speaker 7: top thirty, and we're like, look, it's unlikely Dalvin Cook
- 12:21Speaker 7: returns this here, so start loading up on Madison at
- 12:24Speaker 7: RB thirty right, ray Abound he was like RB thirty, Yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 7: and then this news happens, and now recent drafts he's
- 12:29Speaker 7: going around like RB fifteen to RB twenty. But the
- 12:32Speaker 7: time to really invest them it was a month ago
- 12:35Speaker 7: when we knew this was going to happen. But he
- 12:37Speaker 7: is absolutely a top fifteen back now with Dalvin Cook gun.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and there's some shaky backs going in like that,
- 12:43Speaker 5: like even Josh Jacobs, we don't know what's going on
- 12:45Speaker 5: with him.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Briest Hall could be hurt. Givonte Williams.
- 12:48Speaker 5: So I still like Madison in that you know, RB
- 12:51Speaker 5: fifteen ish range, because I think he's one of the
- 12:54Speaker 5: more safer backs, whereas there's a lot of question marks
- 12:57Speaker 5: about a lot of those other guys kind of frozen PONDI,
- 13:00Speaker 5: as Sean would say.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Well, Simon, you watch a lot of these guys on film.
- 13:04Speaker 1: You're just living in Hawaii with nothing else to do
- 13:06Speaker 1: because all the vocanos aren't exploding anymore. A guy like
- 13:10Speaker 1: Dalvin Cook, who is injury prone and yet still had
- 13:14Speaker 1: more than three hundred touches last year. Do you feel
- 13:17Speaker 1: like him going to a place like Denver or Miami
- 13:20Speaker 1: the odds right now are I think Miami plus one hundred,
- 13:25Speaker 1: Denver plus six hundred, Jets plus seven fifty and then
- 13:28Speaker 1: you know Buffalo of Dallas and Chicago. Do you look
- 13:32Speaker 1: at that and think, yeah, he would be a market
- 13:34Speaker 1: improvement or do you feel like he's going to be
- 13:37Speaker 1: on the other side of his career.
- 13:38Speaker 2: No, he's not there yet, especially the way that his
- 13:41Speaker 2: body's held up in the sense that he's had injuries,
- 13:43Speaker 2: but they're not major, major injuries to his legs and
- 13:45Speaker 2: that's what we look for. So to me, him going
- 13:48Speaker 2: to Miami, that's a huge deal Jet Like they literally
- 13:51Speaker 2: have one of the best run blocking systems in all football.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Like again, people forget that Shanahan running style system, that's
- 13:58Speaker 2: what they run in Miami. So right there, you have
- 14:01Speaker 2: one of the best blocking systems. Now you're bringing in
- 14:02Speaker 2: one of the best running backs that's able to hit
- 14:04Speaker 2: holes with an offense that has Tyree kill O Waddle.
- 14:08Speaker 2: So ain't gonna be No. Nine to ten men in
- 14:10Speaker 2: the box. This is gonna be really open. I love
- 14:14Speaker 2: that move for Dalvin Cook. I'm hoping the money could
- 14:16Speaker 2: work out he can get down there to Miami. To me,
- 14:18Speaker 2: that's number one. Denver is also a really nice landing
- 14:21Speaker 2: spot for him. I'm hoping he doesn't go to the Jets.
- 14:22Speaker 2: The Jets that that aarrey, seems like that'd be kind
- 14:25Speaker 2: of the committee running backs over there where Again, I
- 14:27Speaker 2: think Williams is really good for Denver. He is not
- 14:30Speaker 2: held up, right, We've seen in this Schedu's early career.
- 14:32Speaker 2: He just doesn't have the body. Seems like the hold
- 14:34Speaker 2: up in this league where.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Dalvin he is Nixon.
- 14:36Speaker 2: You know, he gets a little hits here and there,
- 14:38Speaker 2: but for the overall, like you just said, he usually
- 14:40Speaker 2: gets to his thousand yards. So to me, him going
- 14:43Speaker 2: to Miami, Chad, that is truly a dream scenario. Especially
- 14:45Speaker 2: if you're a Miami backer like you are, Chad. You
- 14:47Speaker 2: are hoping this man goes there because that's a big,
- 14:49Speaker 2: big deal. I honestly could see that moving their futures
- 14:52Speaker 2: a little bit, like I could see you dropping them,
- 14:54Speaker 2: you know, maybe plus fifty, maybe plus twenty five, just
- 14:57Speaker 2: a little bit. But it's still running back moving number.
- 15:00Speaker 2: That's a pretty big deal in the futures market.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Bear's got a lot of money.
- 15:07Speaker 3: No, you don't want.
- 15:08Speaker 6: Him, but let's running backs too.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, let's keep going on the running back Sean, what
- 15:13Speaker 2: is your view on a guy going to Atlanta as
- 15:15Speaker 2: the arguably one of the best running.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Backs groups in all football?
- 15:18Speaker 2: Right, they don't even need a running back their front office. Again,
- 15:22Speaker 2: I'm not here to make fun and call them stupid,
- 15:24Speaker 2: but they went out they got Robinson, arguably the best
- 15:27Speaker 2: running back in.
- 15:27Speaker 3: All football from Texas.
- 15:29Speaker 2: What's your view on him and your projection going to
- 15:30Speaker 2: the season for again Atlanta they might have a quarterback
- 15:34Speaker 2: of man, can they run the ball like Smith? Another guy,
- 15:37Speaker 2: great coach, a major run block scheme. What's your view
- 15:40Speaker 2: in Atlanta this upcoming season with Robinson?
- 15:42Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 15:42Speaker 7: I thought this is a great landing spot for him.
- 15:44Speaker 7: You know, he's probably the best running back prospect we've
- 15:48Speaker 7: seen since Saquon Barkley. He should be one of the
- 15:50Speaker 7: better course running backs on day one in the entire league. So,
- 15:54Speaker 7: like you alluded to, it was surprising that the Falcons
- 15:57Speaker 7: specifically were the team the draft of him. I mean
- 15:59Speaker 7: they were third in DVA and rushing last year. They
- 16:02Speaker 7: have a solid offensive line. They just had rookie running
- 16:04Speaker 7: back Tyler Algier rush for one thousand yards last year,
- 16:07Speaker 7: so it wasn't really a glaring knee, but it just
- 16:09Speaker 7: goes to show how much they value running the ball.
- 16:11Speaker 7: So they felt like adding the best running back prospect
- 16:14Speaker 7: and the top ten picks was worth it. So I
- 16:17Speaker 7: expect him to get over twenty plus touches a game,
- 16:21Speaker 7: and you know he's being drafted as a top three
- 16:24Speaker 7: back and rightfully so I have him as my RB four.
- 16:27Speaker 6: But he should hit the ground running right away. He could.
- 16:29Speaker 7: He's also a good pass catcher too. There's there's no
- 16:31Speaker 7: weakness in his game. The other interesting part is what
- 16:35Speaker 7: are they going to do with Tyler Algier because he
- 16:37Speaker 7: was shaping up to be a potential top twenty back
- 16:40Speaker 7: and fantasy heading into the year. But obviously them drafting
- 16:43Speaker 7: Dijon was a crushing blow to his fancy value. So
- 16:47Speaker 7: he's outside the top forty, but he actually might see
- 16:49Speaker 7: enough touches have some fantasy value with Bijeon healthy as well.
- 16:52Speaker 7: I mean, they just love running the ball, so I
- 16:54Speaker 7: think this just goes to show they're not gonna lean
- 16:57Speaker 7: on Ritter's arm that much. They're just gonna really on
- 17:00Speaker 7: the rock and last year it did work for them.
- 17:02Speaker 7: So I think, like you said, it's probably a dumb
- 17:06Speaker 7: move in the big picture, but I think this offense
- 17:08Speaker 7: is gonna be pretty exciting.
- 17:09Speaker 5: I disagree. I don't think it's a dumb move at all.
- 17:11Speaker 5: I think the Falcons got the best player in the draft.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Uh. And this is what they're this is what they do.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Like they they weren't gonna find a solution at quarterback
- 17:22Speaker 5: this year like that, that was just out of the
- 17:24Speaker 5: you know, out of the question. So they got the
- 17:25Speaker 5: best player in the draft, made a strength stronger. And
- 17:29Speaker 5: I agree with what you said about Out. Yeah, I
- 17:30Speaker 5: think I think he's undervalued as well. But I'm buying
- 17:34Speaker 5: the Falcons. I think they're the best team in this
- 17:35Speaker 5: division already. I think they're better than the Saints.
- 17:38Speaker 6: Uh.
- 17:38Speaker 5: And I think their offense is going to be excellent.
- 17:39Speaker 5: They were already the best offense and in their division
- 17:42Speaker 5: by d v o.
- 17:43Speaker 4: A last year.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Tom Brady played every game and you know, now you're
- 17:48Speaker 5: you're gonna add Bijeon.
- 17:49Speaker 4: You got a great o line.
- 17:50Speaker 5: The quarterback situation is probably gonna be better than it
- 17:52Speaker 5: was last year too, So I don't.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Think it was dumb.
- 17:56Speaker 5: I just think given the cards the Falcons were dealt
- 17:59Speaker 5: given handy or del I actually like what they done,
- 18:03Speaker 5: like what they're doing, so I think they're also gonna
- 18:04Speaker 5: be super explosive this year.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Just unconventional by thinking it's not. Raybund just called Kroner
- 18:11Speaker 1: and Simon dumb.
- 18:12Speaker 5: I mean it's kind of contrarian, I'll give you that
- 18:16Speaker 5: because a lot of people look at it. Okay, running
- 18:18Speaker 5: back early and it's dumb, but it's it's kind of
- 18:21Speaker 5: like in fantasy. It reminds me of how weight round
- 18:24Speaker 5: quarterback used to be the strategy. And now Sean and
- 18:27Speaker 5: I were talking, it's like you kind of got a
- 18:29Speaker 5: draft quarterback a little bit earlier because the market's a
- 18:31Speaker 5: little sharper. Like Robinson to me, was the best player
- 18:34Speaker 5: in the draft. I know he's not a quarterback, but
- 18:37Speaker 5: he's still the best player in the draft.
- 18:38Speaker 6: To me.
- 18:39Speaker 5: He went eighth to the Falcons because teams are worried
- 18:42Speaker 5: about draft and running back. But if anyone could use him,
- 18:45Speaker 5: it's the Falcons. And you you know, when you're a
- 18:49Speaker 5: team that wants to run, you know that you have
- 18:52Speaker 5: to have a lot of backs, right, So Tyler al
- 18:54Speaker 5: Gear at the top of the depth chart is not enough.
- 18:56Speaker 4: They are ready, Amy Williams already got he's out for.
- 18:59Speaker 5: The year, and the other guy, Huntley might be out
- 19:02Speaker 5: for the here too because he he messed up with
- 19:04Speaker 5: the case.
- 19:04Speaker 4: So you got like two running backs hurt. So I
- 19:07Speaker 4: mean it makes a lot of sense for this specific team.
- 19:09Speaker 4: I don't think it was dumb given the circumstances.
- 19:12Speaker 6: All right, take back the dumb part.
- 19:14Speaker 7: But when I was following in the draft, Jalen Carter
- 19:16Speaker 7: was still on the board. They could have traded down
- 19:17Speaker 7: and still got Bijon. So it's it's more complicated and
- 19:20Speaker 7: it's calling it dumb, but it's something that they're already
- 19:23Speaker 7: really good at and now they have the best running
- 19:25Speaker 7: back in a long time.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Sean, don't pull back it was dumb. Would you rather
- 19:28Speaker 3: have Sap or Yeah?
- 19:32Speaker 7: At the time, I think Jalen Cark Carter would have
- 19:35Speaker 7: been the better pick there.
- 19:36Speaker 3: That's what I think.
- 19:37Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 19:38Speaker 5: I'm intrigued because you got a lot of movable chess pieces. Robinson, uh,
- 19:43Speaker 5: Kyle Pitts, Cordero, Patterson's still there, like everyone's gonna move around,
- 19:49Speaker 5: You're never gonna know where anyone's gonna wind up. Like
- 19:52Speaker 5: I think this, I think this is an amazing pick
- 19:55Speaker 5: for the Falcons team.
- 19:57Speaker 4: But for the Falcons, yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I don't disagree with Raybound here forget about sort of
- 20:04Speaker 1: the draft strategy. Bjeon Robinson is clearly one of those
- 20:09Speaker 1: backs that people believe can play at an elite level
- 20:12Speaker 1: for as long as he is healthy. Right, and simon,
- 20:19Speaker 1: you and I love the Falcons. This is an Atlanta
- 20:22Speaker 1: Falcons podcast, and during the football season, during the NFL
- 20:25Speaker 1: Season two our detriment, we often lean heavy into the Falcons,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and before that we leaned heavy into the Titans because
- 20:35Speaker 1: we love Arthur Smith.
- 20:37Speaker 3: We love the.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Way he coaches, We love the way he designs offenses,
- 20:41Speaker 1: we love the way he calls games. He was pulling
- 20:44Speaker 1: miracles out last year with the Falcons covering with bad players.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It was all system right, and so all of a sudden,
- 20:52Speaker 1: if he's got good players and a steady diet of
- 20:57Speaker 1: running backs who can hit the whole and be powerful
- 21:01Speaker 1: behind a good offensive line, all of a sudden, they
- 21:05Speaker 1: become a team again that we have to start paying
- 21:07Speaker 1: attention to in what is otherwise a pretty crappy NFC South.
- 21:11Speaker 2: It's true, but we talked about all the time. The
- 21:13Speaker 2: history just continually repeats itself the NFL. We sorry saw
- 21:16Speaker 2: it with Saquon Barkley Gun the Giants. If you don't
- 21:19Speaker 2: have a quarterback, irrelevant. Ezekiel Elliott went to the Cowboys,
- 21:22Speaker 2: they'd have a quarterback, so it's kind of irrelevant.
- 21:24Speaker 3: It's like I'm with Chris.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Their talent on office is unbelievable unless the quarterback can
- 21:29Speaker 2: put it together. Which again, I still don't think the
- 21:32Speaker 2: whole Tannehill thing going from Tennessee going to the Falcons
- 21:35Speaker 2: is dead yet, Like we'll see once these teams getting
- 21:37Speaker 2: camp if this kid can't start putting it together. I
- 21:41Speaker 2: just can't see the Falcons wasting the season. Like we
- 21:43Speaker 2: just talked about, they have so much talent in a
- 21:45Speaker 2: weak division, Like, if you're going to steal this division,
- 21:48Speaker 2: this is the year to do it.
- 21:49Speaker 4: For Atlanta already already got my Falcons future in.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm on the same boat. I know they're gonna
- 21:55Speaker 2: be aggressive. I like Atlanta too, and like.
- 21:58Speaker 4: Before we move on and then we but my thing about.
- 22:01Speaker 5: Bijeon is that it wasn't like it Lena gave up
- 22:05Speaker 5: selecting a quarterback to take Bijon, Like there was no
- 22:07Speaker 5: quarterback you were really gonna feel good about taking right there.
- 22:11Speaker 5: So it's like they're gonna have to go find a
- 22:13Speaker 5: quarterback next year at some other point, like you know
- 22:15Speaker 5: what I mean.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Like it's not like they passed on Bryce Young or
- 22:18Speaker 4: something like that.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Right right, It's interesting we're talking a little bit out
- 22:24Speaker 1: of both sides of our mouth here right because we've
- 22:27Speaker 1: got Bijeon going to the top ten. We're talking about
- 22:30Speaker 1: how great Tyler Lgiers is, Dalvin Cook getting a little
- 22:34Speaker 1: bit a wear and tearing his tires, getting cut for
- 22:37Speaker 1: cap reasons after a great year, Alexander Madison replaceable running
- 22:43Speaker 1: back in an offense that is salary cap strapped. Meanwhile,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and anomaly in the draft is Jamier Gibbs from Alabama
- 22:56Speaker 1: also going in the top fifteen, And like all of
- 23:00Speaker 1: a sudden, we're seeing draft capital being spent, and not
- 23:05Speaker 1: only that, like Detroit taking the guy as a surprise
- 23:09Speaker 1: and signing David Montgomery from the Bears, basically changing over
- 23:12Speaker 1: their entire running back corps on the fly in one season. Raybon,
- 23:21Speaker 1: How do you feel about the Jamior Gibbs David Montgomery combination.
- 23:27Speaker 4: And so Detroit.
- 23:28Speaker 5: You know, in terms of Gibbs, Detroit is kind of
- 23:32Speaker 5: they've been making a lot of picks where it looks
- 23:35Speaker 5: like a reach, but then they'll make like a pick
- 23:37Speaker 5: the next round and get a value and it so
- 23:39Speaker 5: it kind of all evens out. I don't love the
- 23:42Speaker 5: Gibbs pick as much as I love the Robinson for Atlanta,
- 23:45Speaker 5: but I do think I love this Detroit offense. I
- 23:48Speaker 5: think this Detroit offense can be a top five offense.
- 23:51Speaker 5: And they're trying to add speed and that's why they
- 23:54Speaker 5: have Gibbs, who ran a fourth three six forty, and
- 23:57Speaker 5: you know they're trying to do that last year too.
- 23:59Speaker 5: And now James Williams gonna miss six games, so you
- 24:02Speaker 5: know that gives addition is important.
- 24:03Speaker 4: That's going to really give him some juice. He's going
- 24:06Speaker 4: RB fifteen.
- 24:07Speaker 5: I don't think there's a ton of value with him,
- 24:10Speaker 5: but I should point out that DeAndre Swift was sixteenth
- 24:15Speaker 5: in PPR points per game among running backs and twenty
- 24:19Speaker 5: second in half PPR, so he was a top twenty
- 24:21Speaker 5: four back in all formats and he only averaged forty
- 24:25Speaker 5: two percent of the snaps. Jamia Gibbs was taken with
- 24:27Speaker 5: a twelfth overall pick. He's going to get more than
- 24:29Speaker 5: forty two percent of the snaps, So you know, it's
- 24:33Speaker 5: not it looks a little high, but he'll probably land
- 24:36Speaker 5: somewhere in at fifteen to twenty twenty five range when
- 24:39Speaker 5: it's all said and done.
- 24:40Speaker 4: He's going a little bit high.
- 24:41Speaker 5: But I think Montgomery is interesting because he should get
- 24:46Speaker 5: that Jamal Williams rope from last year. That's about fifteen
- 24:50Speaker 5: carries a game. You know, maybe one to two targets,
- 24:53Speaker 5: just one for Williams. But my Garmy's a little bit
- 24:55Speaker 5: of a pass catcher. But the key for fantasy. Jamal
- 24:59Speaker 5: william had an NFL high forty five carries inside the
- 25:03Speaker 5: ten yard line last year. That was sixteen more than
- 25:07Speaker 5: the next highest player on that list. Williams had twenty
- 25:11Speaker 5: eight carries inside the five. The second most got inside
- 25:14Speaker 5: the ten was twenty nine. So like this could be
- 25:17Speaker 5: Montgomery this year and they signed him to a three
- 25:20Speaker 5: year deal. They obviously wanted him. They could have just
- 25:22Speaker 5: you know, brought back Williams probably for cheaper too.
- 25:25Speaker 4: So I think.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Montgomery at RB thirty is very intriguing because you know,
- 25:31Speaker 5: Gibbs is gonna play in the slot, some he's gonna
- 25:34Speaker 5: move around. They're still gonna need a back to take
- 25:36Speaker 5: you know, probably thirteen to seventeen carries a game. I
- 25:39Speaker 5: think this team is going to be, you know, a
- 25:41Speaker 5: nine to ten win team. The division isn't that strong,
- 25:45Speaker 5: so the game script should be there. So Montgomery to me,
- 25:48Speaker 5: is the value. But Gibbs is an exciting own a
- 25:51Speaker 5: little better in bast ball, I think. But Montgomery RB
- 25:54Speaker 5: thirty I'm buying.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Matt Mitchell is telling us we have to pick up
- 25:57Speaker 1: the pace because we have ten topics to get to.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I love each one of these so much that we
- 26:01Speaker 1: could talk about each one for a podcast. What I
- 26:04Speaker 1: will say, what I will say before we get to
- 26:06Speaker 1: the next running back is as much as we love
- 26:10Speaker 1: the Lions last year, Simon, are you with me and
- 26:14Speaker 1: that they might be an auto fade early in the year,
- 26:19Speaker 1: just in the.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Sense that they're the most loved team right in that
- 26:22Speaker 2: division by far, Like that's just everyone's been betting them.
- 26:25Speaker 2: I think you've talked to a lot of book makers,
- 26:27Speaker 2: you know the deal chatter where they say, yeah, we
- 26:30Speaker 2: about eighty percent of the money right now is pouring
- 26:32Speaker 2: on Detroit to win this division. It's just they're the
- 26:35Speaker 2: public darling where I think Chris has nailed it though,
- 26:37Speaker 2: Like offensively, they are really talented. They have a lot
- 26:40Speaker 2: of weapons on that offense, and we assume they're defenseill
- 26:43Speaker 2: be better. Last year, right their second year I think
- 26:46Speaker 2: was ruining thirty second and then the mid point of
- 26:48Speaker 2: the year they fired them and we saw they made
- 26:50Speaker 2: a run.
- 26:51Speaker 3: They almost made the playoffs.
- 26:52Speaker 2: So it kind of makes sense that the public is
- 26:54Speaker 2: so inaborated with this Detroit team just in the fact
- 26:57Speaker 2: they are so talented across the board.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Here's what I love about the NFL last year. Jamal
- 27:02Speaker 1: Williams record setting year as a running back. Anytime you're
- 27:07Speaker 1: talking about the Lions who are playing their heart out
- 27:09Speaker 1: and every game is a gutsy win or a close loss,
- 27:13Speaker 1: and everyone is like, Jamal Williams is our spirit man.
- 27:17Speaker 1: He is the heart of our team. We love Jamal Williams.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Cut too, eh, we can let him go.
- 27:23Speaker 3: That's football. That is definitional football.

- 28:43Speaker 2: I'm shocked at Mets tickets are at one dollar chat.
- 28:46Speaker 2: They are tarrible.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I know, it's really become a folly like that the
- 28:51Speaker 1: other night that no Metslander.
- 28:53Speaker 4: He's no mets Lander. Damn it.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, Ray bounds out on the West Coast.
- 28:57Speaker 1: He's forgotten. How terrible to followed Mets when you're in I.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Ever got and they haven't want to wear a serious
- 29:04Speaker 5: since I was in my mother's room.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Sean, Let's talk about another team in the NFC South. Here,
- 29:12Speaker 2: we got our guy, Miles Sanders down in Carolina. My
- 29:15Speaker 2: may got paid. He is the apparent number one three
- 29:18Speaker 2: down back. That's what they're talking about. Which review on
- 29:20Speaker 2: Miles Sanders, a guy who have we ever seen him
- 29:23Speaker 2: hold up in a full season after getting a ton
- 29:25Speaker 2: of carrier? So I'm interested hear your take on what
- 29:27Speaker 2: Miles Sanders is projected going into the season.
- 29:30Speaker 1: And can you do it in a Southern accent like
- 29:31Speaker 1: Simon just tried to do it?
- 29:33Speaker 6: Impossible. I don't have that in me. But yeah, you know,
- 29:37Speaker 6: he's leaving one of the.
- 29:38Speaker 7: Best offenses in the NFL to go to the Panthers,
- 29:41Speaker 7: So you know, on the surface that might look like
- 29:43Speaker 7: a downgrade, but you know he's going to be operating
- 29:46Speaker 7: as the workhorse back here, including a pass catcher. It's
- 29:48Speaker 7: not like he can't catch passes. He does have that
- 29:51Speaker 7: skill set. You know that Eagles like to rotate backs in.
- 29:55Speaker 7: Jalen Hurst doesn't like to dump off that much. He
- 29:58Speaker 7: tends to scramble, so this is a where he could
- 30:01Speaker 7: you know, catch more than forty passes this year. Plus
- 30:04Speaker 7: Jalen Hurts, you know, he had forty five percent of
- 30:06Speaker 7: the Eagles rush attempts inside the five, so you know,
- 30:10Speaker 7: Sanders helped push Jalen Hurts into the end zone. But
- 30:13Speaker 7: maybe in Carolina he gets to run with the ball
- 30:15Speaker 7: into the end zone, so his touchdown upside could be
- 30:18Speaker 7: a bit higher here. So there's a chance he could
- 30:20Speaker 7: finish as a high end RB two in this offense
- 30:22Speaker 7: as the lead back. So I think he's kind of
- 30:25Speaker 7: sneaky in this RB twenty range, Like Ray Bond said,
- 30:27Speaker 7: a lot of backs in that range are kind of iffy,
- 30:30Speaker 7: And certainly there are some question marks with Sanders going
- 30:33Speaker 7: to the Panthers, the offensive lines a little bit worse,
- 30:36Speaker 7: but it's not bad.
- 30:37Speaker 6: So I think that you can get him, you know,
- 30:38Speaker 6: at a.
- 30:39Speaker 7: Deal right now in the RB twenty range. Plus, this
- 30:41Speaker 7: move also opens up the door for backs like Rashad
- 30:44Speaker 7: Penny or DeAndre Swift to step up in Philadelphia. So
- 30:47Speaker 7: this is one of the biggest moves in the offseason
- 30:49Speaker 7: I think for Fancy.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Well, you just mentioned DeAndre Swift. Not that I want
- 30:54Speaker 1: to short change anything, ray but I might have to
- 30:56Speaker 1: say about Miles Sanders. But we're going through a sort
- 31:01Speaker 1: of you know, ven diagram here. DeAndre Swift leaves the Lions,
- 31:07Speaker 1: Miles Sanders leaves the Panthers. Now DeAndre Swift he is
- 31:14Speaker 1: in Philly. Give me your take right now on his
- 31:17Speaker 1: value as a running back, Chris Raybon.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Yeah, so, I you know, Swift has fall into about
- 31:25Speaker 5: the RB twenty five range, and I think he does
- 31:28Speaker 5: have some upside there because again, he was, you know,
- 31:32Speaker 5: a top twenty two running back in all formats, and
- 31:34Speaker 5: he only played forty two percent of the snaps last year.
- 31:39Speaker 5: And there's not many places you can go offensively where
- 31:44Speaker 5: you're running back. It's a better situation than Detroit. Now, obviously,
- 31:48Speaker 5: you know they didn't want to play him because Deucey
- 31:50Speaker 5: had beef with Duce Staley, who's now with Sanders in Carolina.
- 31:54Speaker 5: By the way, So I do love Sanders the group
- 31:55Speaker 5: with Sean there, but I actually think Swift as he
- 31:58Speaker 5: kind of trickles down on the board a little bit,
- 32:01Speaker 5: does have some upside here because he can be highly
- 32:04Speaker 5: efficient in this egle offense.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Boston, Scott and Kenneth Gainwell combined.
- 32:09Speaker 5: For forty five percent of the snaps last year, so
- 32:13Speaker 5: you know, there's a lot of snaps to be had.
- 32:16Speaker 5: There's a lot of goal line carries to be had.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Even with Hurtz, you know, taking a lot of those carries.
- 32:22Speaker 5: Miles Sanders was still forced in the NFL with twenty
- 32:26Speaker 5: six carries inside the ten yardland.
- 32:28Speaker 4: So you know, I.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Think Swift and Rashad Penny, who's going as the fortieth
- 32:33Speaker 5: running back off the board, both have some upside here.
- 32:37Speaker 5: And the thing about Penny is you're just worried about
- 32:40Speaker 5: him staying healthy. He's only played about half of his
- 32:43Speaker 5: career games. But that actually gives Swift a little more
- 32:47Speaker 5: upside because you got to figure there will be some
- 32:49Speaker 5: games that Penny's gonna miss it and Swift is going
- 32:51Speaker 5: to be a little bit more of a workhorse and
- 32:55Speaker 5: then but I would still take a swing on Penny
- 32:58Speaker 5: in redraft leagues as well, because, as remember Detroit traded
- 33:02Speaker 5: Swift during the draft, the Eagles had already acquired Rashad
- 33:07Speaker 5: Penny presumer leader replace Miles Sanders. So I think he's
- 33:11Speaker 5: gonna get a good deal of work as well. He's
- 33:14Speaker 5: going from a bottom three offensive line in Seattle to
- 33:18Speaker 5: a top six offensive line in Philly. So as long
- 33:22Speaker 5: as you're not playing in a best ball league where
- 33:25Speaker 5: you know, those miss games tend to hurt you, like
- 33:27Speaker 5: if you're in a redraft league where if Penny gets hurt,
- 33:29Speaker 5: you could just venture him.
- 33:30Speaker 4: I think he's worth a swing too.
- 33:32Speaker 5: At RB forty, I love the value there, and then
- 33:34Speaker 5: Swift now at RB twenty five is pretty decent as well.
- 33:37Speaker 5: But Penny is very intriguing, you know, kind of in
- 33:41Speaker 5: somewhat of the Sanders role.
- 33:43Speaker 4: But I think it's gonna be like.
- 33:44Speaker 5: A probably a forty, like a fifty five forty split
- 33:48Speaker 5: between those two. Maybe you know, Boston Scott or Gainwell
- 33:51Speaker 5: gets you know, five to ten percent of snaps, but
- 33:53Speaker 5: a lot of fantasy goodness to go around in Philly.
- 33:55Speaker 5: So like both these guys landing here in phillip for.
- 34:00Speaker 3: You chat, have it go ahead.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, Howie Roseman does it again though he
- 34:04Speaker 2: gets four running backs for the same price on Miles
- 34:06Speaker 2: Sanders getting paid Carolina.
- 34:08Speaker 3: It's just it really is Chest and Checkers, Chad, it
- 34:11Speaker 3: really is Dimond.
- 34:12Speaker 1: That's why this upcoming season will have the Howie Roseman
- 34:16Speaker 1: Pick of the Week because it's the obvious genius play
- 34:21Speaker 1: that everyone else is trying to outsmart themselves and avoid.
- 34:26Speaker 1: But as an Eagles fan, I think the combination and
- 34:30Speaker 1: for you, simon of Swift and Penny is so interesting
- 34:34Speaker 1: because both of them, if they were ever fully healthy,
- 34:37Speaker 1: would be potentially dominant running backs, and you never see
- 34:40Speaker 1: them playing full seasons. But their combination, their speed, especially
- 34:45Speaker 1: for Swift and Penny, makes them really really interesting assets.
- 34:50Speaker 1: You just never know how much you're going to get
- 34:52Speaker 1: from each of them for a full season. So as
- 34:54Speaker 1: an Eagles fan, do you all of a sudden think, Wow,
- 34:57Speaker 1: the Eagles actually are going to be in a better
- 35:00Speaker 1: spot than I thought they would be when the season
- 35:02Speaker 1: was ending.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know about that, but I've been drafting
- 35:05Speaker 2: these running backs. I've been going Swift. I actually been
- 35:07Speaker 2: going gang Well, Kenneth Gangwell over Penny. Just in the
- 35:10Speaker 2: fact that again, I get where people are kind of
- 35:13Speaker 2: down in Kenneth Gangwell. I really think the team took
- 35:16Speaker 2: a lot, not just a lot of belief in him,
- 35:18Speaker 2: but a big step up in the sense that he
- 35:20Speaker 2: got a lot of touches in the playoffs, Like he
- 35:22Speaker 2: ran incredibly well against that Giants defense and the forty
- 35:25Speaker 2: nine Ers defense. Like if you go back and watch
- 35:27Speaker 2: the tape, he played really well. It just seemed like
- 35:30Speaker 2: he was always the second guy to Miles Sanders. So
- 35:32Speaker 2: I still think this team's gonna give Kenneth Gagwell first
- 35:35Speaker 2: kind of chance. And look, just because he's been in
- 35:37Speaker 2: this offense. So that's the kind of guy that's being
- 35:39Speaker 2: left for dead, right you can get him, man, I
- 35:41Speaker 2: think I got him to like the freaking eighteenth round
- 35:44Speaker 2: in one of these best ball drafts. So it's kind
- 35:46Speaker 2: of a guy he's left for dead. Where you just
- 35:48Speaker 2: talked about Swift rarely Stairs healthy, and same with Penny,
- 35:52Speaker 2: you may be able to get a really nice deal
- 35:53Speaker 2: here getting one of these late running backs. But let's
- 35:56Speaker 2: switch to wide receivers, Chad. I know you want to
- 35:58Speaker 2: talk about this guy to my man, showing.
- 36:00Speaker 1: It's the most important topic of the show.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Sean, what are low look on our favorite receiver?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Me and Chad had been talking NonStop about this move
- 36:09Speaker 2: Dj Moore to the Bears.
- 36:11Speaker 3: We always say Chad.
- 36:12Speaker 2: The quarterback if they want to take the next step.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Josh Allen wants to take a next step. Jalen Hurts
- 36:16Speaker 2: wanted to take a next step.
- 36:17Speaker 3: What do you need?
- 36:18Speaker 2: You need the number one receiver, and we all believe
- 36:20Speaker 2: the Bears have one. We think DJ Moore easily is
- 36:23Speaker 2: a top five receiver. Is he going to be that
- 36:25Speaker 2: this upcoming season for you with? I mean Justin Field's
- 36:28Speaker 2: throwing this deep balls to him.
- 36:29Speaker 7: Right, So I think this move has less of an
- 36:32Speaker 7: impact on More specifically, as I don't think he gets
- 36:35Speaker 7: much of a boost going to the Bears. You know,
- 36:36Speaker 7: the Bears are run heavy team. Justin Fields scrambles a lot.
- 36:41Speaker 7: He takes a lot of sacks, so those are you know,
- 36:43Speaker 7: lost pass attempts that More could be seeing. So I
- 36:47Speaker 7: don't know if it's a boost for More, but it's
- 36:48Speaker 7: certainly a boost for Justin Fields. You know, a weapon
- 36:52Speaker 7: like Dj Moore can really unlock his upside and Fields
- 36:56Speaker 7: was the QB five in points per game in Fantasy
- 36:58Speaker 7: last year that was despite having one of the worst
- 37:01Speaker 7: supporting casts in all of football, and Darnell Mooney missed
- 37:04Speaker 7: quite a bit of time as well. So I think
- 37:06Speaker 7: this is sort of like what we saw with Jalen Hurts,
- 37:10Speaker 7: you know, after the Eagles got DeVante Smith and they
- 37:12Speaker 7: had AJ Brown, Like that's how you unlock their upside.
- 37:15Speaker 7: So I think Field certainly has top three upside this year.
- 37:19Speaker 7: You know, Darnell Mooney also being a number two receiver
- 37:21Speaker 7: is huge. I don't think he's a number one receiver
- 37:23Speaker 7: that should command a lot of targets. So I think
- 37:26Speaker 7: DJ Moore taking some of the attention away from Mooney
- 37:29Speaker 7: my unlock Mooney's upside.
- 37:30Speaker 6: So this is just all positive news, you know, for.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Justin Fields to have a talented receiver like DJ Moore
- 37:37Speaker 7: that he can rely on.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Well, listen, I think that what you just said about
- 37:44Speaker 1: Justin Fields and being as effective as he was without
- 37:51Speaker 1: any real receiving threats says so much about his ceiling
- 37:56Speaker 1: and so much about are we really going to learn
- 37:59Speaker 1: this year what Justin Fields is because that, to me
- 38:03Speaker 1: is the fundamental question. And I know I'm saying it
- 38:05Speaker 1: as a Homer Bears fan, but also just saying it
- 38:07Speaker 1: as someone interested in the NFL and the impact that
- 38:10Speaker 1: we'll have not just on the division, but potentially a
- 38:14Speaker 1: much weaker quarterback conference in the NFC. Raybaon, you are
- 38:20Speaker 1: a quarterback connoisseur, and we're going to get to another
- 38:23Speaker 1: one of your quarterbacks sort of that you've been talking
- 38:26Speaker 1: about fading for years in it. I like how Matt
- 38:31Speaker 1: Mitchell backloaded the podcast for the stars in the second half,
- 38:36Speaker 1: keep them interested in Matt Mitchell. Nice job. When you
- 38:41Speaker 1: look at Justin Fields, do you have optimism about his
- 38:47Speaker 1: extraordinary upside for this year coming to fruition.
- 38:52Speaker 4: I'm gonna say this right now.
- 38:53Speaker 5: I've said this on the Fantasy Flex already with Sean
- 38:56Speaker 5: say it. I'm gonna say it on a thing sugarcoat
- 38:59Speaker 5: it you and for Simon, Justin Fields has within his
- 39:05Speaker 5: range of outcomes a realistic change to be the highest
- 39:10Speaker 5: scoring player in fantasy football this year. I'm drafting I'm
- 39:14Speaker 5: drafting Justin Fields everywhere. Remember we talked about how, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 5: maybe five ten years ago in fantasy there were all
- 39:23Speaker 5: these scrambling quarterbacks even a few years ago that you
- 39:26Speaker 5: could get outside the top twelve, sometimes even outside the
- 39:28Speaker 5: top twenty, you know, even a couple.
- 39:30Speaker 4: You know, even Fields.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Last year, you know it was a bargain, but the
- 39:33Speaker 5: market's kind of sharpening up. And Justin Fields reminds me
- 39:38Speaker 5: of Jalen Hurts last year, where you know, we love
- 39:41Speaker 5: Jalen Hurts and he was like QB.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Ten and QB nine and KB eight and GB seven.
- 39:44Speaker 5: I think he ended up being like six or five,
- 39:47Speaker 5: but he was still a value, right Like, he's still
- 39:50Speaker 5: crushed that ADP that's Justin Fields. This year, he's like
- 39:53Speaker 5: QB six right now. But can he outscored Josh Allen?
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yes?
- 39:57Speaker 4: Can he outscore Patrick Mahomes?
- 39:59Speaker 6: Yes?
- 39:59Speaker 5: Because he Like, here's the craziest thut about Justin Fields.
- 40:03Speaker 5: He ran the ball three times less than Jalen Hurts
- 40:07Speaker 5: and had almost four hundred more rushing yards. Like, this
- 40:12Speaker 5: guy is just a monster. He's explosive, and now he's
- 40:14Speaker 5: got a receiver and Moon's coming back.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Comet broke out last year.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Maybe Claypool will get We'll get more than one or
- 40:21Speaker 5: two of the plays in the playbook this year. I mean,
- 40:24Speaker 5: this could be a completely different offense. And I think
- 40:26Speaker 5: the pass attempts will go up. I think the efficiency
- 40:29Speaker 5: will go up, like we could be looking at a
- 40:31Speaker 5: completely different offense, kind of like how you might have been. Oh,
- 40:34Speaker 5: I don't know if Jalen Hurts can support you know,
- 40:36Speaker 5: two top fifteen receivers, Devonte Smith and A. J. Brown
- 40:39Speaker 5: last year, Well he did so. I actually think Dj Moore,
- 40:44Speaker 5: age twenty six season squarely in his prime. All of
- 40:47Speaker 5: his targets last year were from PJ Walkers, Sam Darnold
- 40:51Speaker 5: and Baker Mayfield. So I actually do think he gets
- 40:55Speaker 5: a massive jump with Justin Fields. It's not an elite,
- 41:00Speaker 5: but it's a lot better than those three guys. And
- 41:03Speaker 5: we've seen what DJ Moore can do with even average
- 41:06Speaker 5: quarterback play. I mean, this guy's always right around a
- 41:09Speaker 5: thousand yards. Uh, And you know, like this is I'm
- 41:13Speaker 5: all in on Justin Fields, and I think DJ Moore
- 41:16Speaker 5: might be able to slept on as well because I
- 41:17Speaker 5: think he's going to be at target. I think he's
- 41:19Speaker 5: going to be very consistent weekend week out, and he
- 41:23Speaker 5: doesn't miss gimes.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Simon, How great is that?
- 41:28Speaker 2: Well, my favorite joke I was gonna make is well,
- 41:31Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts probably kneeled down a lot in the games
- 41:33Speaker 2: that affected I don't think you have to worry about
- 41:37Speaker 2: justin Field.
- 41:37Speaker 6: And one touchdown touchdown.
- 41:40Speaker 5: I actually when I model quarterback rushing yards, I actually
- 41:43Speaker 5: break it to quarterback scrambles designed non kneel down runs
- 41:47Speaker 5: and then kneel down, So I actually factor all that
- 41:50Speaker 5: stuff in and justin Field still projects for right. But
- 41:55Speaker 5: justin Field still does project for a more efficient running
- 41:59Speaker 5: than the Awen Hurts, if you can believe that, Like this.
- 42:01Speaker 4: Guy is just a month now.
- 42:03Speaker 5: I think I think he'll run a tiny bit west
- 42:05Speaker 5: this year because he's got better weapons. But you know
- 42:09Speaker 5: that's gonna be a major part of offense. That's just
- 42:11Speaker 5: what Justin Fields is. He's an explosive runner. He could
- 42:13Speaker 5: launch the ball down the field. So yeah, I think
- 42:16Speaker 5: this is like the same way we saw I know
- 42:18Speaker 5: it's a cliche. At this point, we saw it, Josh Allen,
- 42:21Speaker 5: take that next step. We saw it, Hurts, take that
- 42:22Speaker 5: next step. I think Field is next.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Judge is worn out.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Now we're gonna get a breakdown about Rogers here. I
- 42:32Speaker 2: gotta hear my Rogers.
- 42:33Speaker 5: So I'm fading Rodgers like I'm jelling Rodgers, socker, socker.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Context. He had no no, no joke no Joe credit
- 42:42Speaker 1: for Raybond. Before Aaron Rodgers had a couple of great
- 42:46Speaker 1: years where the floor came in. Raybond had pinpointed the
- 42:51Speaker 1: downfall of Aaron Rodgers and why he wasn't playing as
- 42:56Speaker 1: well as he had been. And then they changed the
- 42:58Speaker 1: playbook and he stopped doing a lot of stuff that
- 43:00Speaker 1: Raybund said he was doing, and he had two fantastic years.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I don't think he does anything close to what he
- 43:06Speaker 1: has done in Green Bay in this resurgence. I don't
- 43:10Speaker 1: think he has the same respect. I think he'll have
- 43:12Speaker 1: a longer leash. I think he will have krt Blanche.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Go ahead, Raybond, tell me why. I'm right.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:18Speaker 5: So Aaron Rodgers is coming off statistically pretty much the
- 43:22Speaker 5: worst season of his career, and obviously I know he
- 43:25Speaker 5: was hurt. So you have to kind of figure out, Okay, well,
- 43:29Speaker 5: how much of that is the age, how much of
- 43:31Speaker 5: that was the injury, and how much of that was
- 43:32Speaker 5: just losing Devonte Adams.
- 43:34Speaker 4: There is a bunch of things.
- 43:35Speaker 5: But I don't think the value is in drafting Aaron
- 43:38Speaker 5: Rodgers at QB fourteen. But the reason people need to
- 43:42Speaker 5: be aware that Aaron Rodgers is gonna have an impact
- 43:46Speaker 5: on his Jets offense is because of Garrett Wilson.
- 43:50Speaker 4: We know that these days.
- 43:51Speaker 5: Wide receivers because they get so much playing time early
- 43:54Speaker 5: and this is such a passing league. It used to
- 43:56Speaker 5: be year three wide receivers breakout. Now it's year two.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Receivers tend to take a big leap in their efficiency metrics. Well,
- 44:03Speaker 5: Garrett Wilson already put eighty three balls for over eleven
- 44:06Speaker 5: hundred yards last year, only had four touchdowns. But you
- 44:10Speaker 5: look at what Aaron Rodgers is going to do, and
- 44:11Speaker 5: I think he is going to four Steed Wilson targets.
- 44:15Speaker 5: Last year, Wilson was targeted on twenty three percent of
- 44:18Speaker 5: his routes. Aaron Rodgers. The last five seasons, his number
- 44:22Speaker 5: one wide receiver has been targeted twenty eight percent of
- 44:24Speaker 5: the time. And that's also in line with what you
- 44:26Speaker 5: usually see. You know, if a guy puts up you
- 44:29Speaker 5: know about twenty plus targets per route in year one,
- 44:32Speaker 5: he's usually jumping into those high twenties in year two. Anyway,
- 44:35Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers top receiver usually around two and a half
- 44:39Speaker 5: yards per route. Wilson was at one point nine last
- 44:41Speaker 5: year with you know, Zach Wilson and all those other bumps.
- 44:45Speaker 5: So I think Garrett Wilson is primed to explode. He's
- 44:48Speaker 5: going at wide receiver ten. I'm fine with taking him there.
- 44:51Speaker 5: But that's really what I think. The benefit of Rogers
- 44:54Speaker 5: is how doesn't matter how efficient he is or even
- 44:58Speaker 5: how much he helps his Jet offense as a whole,
- 45:00Speaker 5: He's going to make Garrett Wilson better. And remember, Garrett
- 45:05Speaker 5: Wilson the last ten games was on the field for
- 45:08Speaker 5: ninety seven percent of the Jets pass naps. He came
- 45:11Speaker 5: off the field for about one snap a game, and
- 45:14Speaker 5: that was usually when he got winded or took a
- 45:16Speaker 5: big hit or something like that. He's gonna be on
- 45:17Speaker 5: every play and Rogers gonna look for him. And so
- 45:21Speaker 5: you could see Garrett Wilson put up a DeVante Adams
- 45:24Speaker 5: like season. He has that kind of talent in terms
- 45:27Speaker 5: of being able to get separation and move with the football.
- 45:31Speaker 4: So I'm not really in on Rodgers, but love to
- 45:34Speaker 4: move for Garrett Wilson.
- 45:36Speaker 1: What's your take on that, coroner, Do you have a
- 45:37Speaker 1: different take on Rogers?
- 45:39Speaker 7: No, No, I agree with that, and I think this
- 45:41Speaker 7: unlocks Garrett Wilson's upside, he is for sure a top
- 45:44Speaker 7: ten receiver. I also like Alan Lazard in the wide
- 45:47Speaker 7: receiver fifty five range.
- 45:48Speaker 6: I mean, that's the guy that he has the most
- 45:50Speaker 6: chemistry with.
- 45:51Speaker 7: And Aaron Rodgers is big on just you know, having
- 45:53Speaker 7: chemistry with receivers knowing where they're gonna be. So I
- 45:56Speaker 7: think Lazard, well, he doesn't have a ton of upside,
- 45:59Speaker 7: is a pretty good wide receiver fifty five right now.
- 46:02Speaker 1: You know, it's funny when we start doing convince me
- 46:06Speaker 1: on Sundays in the fall, h and Kerner and Raybahn
- 46:10Speaker 1: and Simon are all trying to convince me of the
- 46:13Speaker 1: best bets I should make. I guarantee, I guarantee the
- 46:18Speaker 1: number of times I hear about a disgusting third string
- 46:21Speaker 1: running back or tight end versus the number of times
- 46:24Speaker 1: I hear about Aaron Rodgers or Justin Field and betting
- 46:28Speaker 1: their overprop the over on the disgusting tight end or
- 46:35Speaker 1: third string running back will be so much higher than
- 46:38Speaker 1: Justin Fields or Aaron Rodgers.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Quarterback markets are usually fairly sharp compared to wide receivers
- 46:45Speaker 5: and pass catchers in general.
- 46:46Speaker 4: That's more like why that is.
- 46:48Speaker 5: Oh, I mean I would I would actually vent Rodgers
- 46:50Speaker 5: under his passing yardage because he's gonna have a really
- 46:54Speaker 5: good defense with his Jet team, so you know, he
- 46:57Speaker 5: might not throw for a ton of yards.
- 46:58Speaker 4: They just might all go to Wilson and end Blizard.
- 47:02Speaker 1: My point is this might be the most we talk
- 47:04Speaker 1: about Aaron Rodgers as a quartet the entire football season,
- 47:08Speaker 1: because I'll get more. You know, Pepe lapew thirdstring running back.
- 47:17Speaker 1: UH Carter Simon's favorite quarterback in the draft, the one
- 47:21Speaker 1: he was putting all his chips on was Anthony Richardson.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Nice drafted by the Colts. You've got him on our
- 47:28Speaker 1: list as one of the biggest fantasy moves during the NFL.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Could be a league winner, Chad a league winner this season,
- 47:34Speaker 3: explained yourself. Tell me what is right?
- 47:37Speaker 7: Yeah, So if you were to design the perfect fants
- 47:40Speaker 7: football quarterback in a lab, Anthony and Richardson would be
- 47:43Speaker 7: pretty frigging close to that. He might be the best
- 47:46Speaker 7: athlete we've ever seen play quarterback, and he has e
- 47:49Speaker 7: la arm talent. Now, he's still pretty raw, so it
- 47:52Speaker 7: might take him a year or two to develop as
- 47:54Speaker 7: a passer. If anything, That means he might lean on
- 47:57Speaker 7: his legs even more in your one, which is great
- 48:00Speaker 7: for fansy football. We love that. But the reason I
- 48:03Speaker 7: think the Colts was such a good landing spot is
- 48:05Speaker 7: you know, he was favored to go to the Seahawks
- 48:08Speaker 7: or Titans, which would have made it really tough for
- 48:10Speaker 7: him to start this year. Like I said, he doesn'ted
- 48:12Speaker 7: to develop a bit, so I would have only projected
- 48:14Speaker 7: him for a handful of starts if that, But landing
- 48:17Speaker 7: on the Colts needs that he could be the starter
- 48:19Speaker 7: as soon as week one. I don't think Gardner ivanshe's
- 48:22Speaker 7: good enough to really hold him off for too long,
- 48:24Speaker 7: and they want to get him reps right away. So
- 48:28Speaker 7: also he gets to play for Shane Steichen, who helped
- 48:30Speaker 7: develop Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia. So just I thought there
- 48:33Speaker 7: was a fantastic landing spot for him. His fantasy upside
- 48:36Speaker 7: so he's going right around QB fifteen right now, but
- 48:40Speaker 7: if he starts week one, he'll easily clear that. So
- 48:43Speaker 7: if you can't get Justin Fields earlier in the draft,
- 48:45Speaker 7: you can wait and get Richardson a bit later, and
- 48:48Speaker 7: he has top five upside, maybe not a near one,
- 48:51Speaker 7: but down the road. So I love getting him at
- 48:54Speaker 7: that point in my.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Drafts, Simon, you love Anthony Richardson.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Yeah, It's not like I'm projecting a Cam. I mean,
- 49:02Speaker 2: we all remember Cam Newton's rookie season that was truly
- 49:05Speaker 2: the pinnacle of what you hope for, Right, that's like
- 49:07Speaker 2: peak form. I'm not even looking for that. I'm just
- 49:10Speaker 2: looking for what I feel like. Even Chris talked about it.
- 49:12Speaker 2: These running quarterbacks, like the market is catching up to them.
- 49:15Speaker 2: But that's kind of what we're doing here where we're
- 49:17Speaker 2: really buying low. Right, It's all about where you spend
- 49:19Speaker 2: your draft capital. You can get Anthony pretty late. So
- 49:22Speaker 2: even if he is a bum and he doesn't work out,
- 49:24Speaker 2: he can't pick up the offense, you can find someone else.
- 49:27Speaker 2: But the hope is when these guys come in with
- 49:28Speaker 2: this high athletic ability, that's what they rely on.
- 49:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 49:31Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, this kid can't read defenses. He doesn't
- 49:33Speaker 2: really know how to read the offense either, but when
- 49:36Speaker 2: in doubt, he'll pull it down and you run it.
- 49:38Speaker 2: And I mean, how many times do we see with
- 49:40Speaker 2: justin fields like you're like, oh, he's gonna get caught here,
- 49:43Speaker 2: He's not gonna make it through and he makes it through. Right,
- 49:45Speaker 2: these freak athletes, there's no way to quantify it. So
- 49:48Speaker 2: to me, Anthony Richardson, his upside is so high, and
- 49:51Speaker 2: what you're paying for him the draft capital, it's just
- 49:53Speaker 2: it's worth the risk of the scuppy them in season
- 49:55Speaker 2: in the sense that every year there's these running quarterbacks
- 49:58Speaker 2: that people kind of don't take, right. Say, it's him
- 50:00Speaker 2: coming up, and some guy out there is gonna take,
- 50:03Speaker 2: you know, a stand in passing quarterback before him, don't.
- 50:07Speaker 2: We don't hate on it, right, some guy's gonna take
- 50:08Speaker 2: Rogers there at QB fourteen. To me, I didn't rather
- 50:12Speaker 2: take the upside of Richardson. So that's the whole point
- 50:14Speaker 2: we're projecting out from these players.
- 50:16Speaker 5: And let me say this, Richardson is the one quarterback
- 50:20Speaker 5: where I never recommend, you know, in redraft, taking multiple
- 50:25Speaker 5: players at the onesie positions, you know, quarterback, tight end.
- 50:29Speaker 5: But I would actually draft Anthony Richardson even if I
- 50:33Speaker 5: got a top twelve starter, just for the upside, and
- 50:36Speaker 5: because a lot of times I will be drafting a
- 50:39Speaker 5: Fields or a Josh Allen or a hurt and or Lamar,
- 50:43Speaker 5: and running quarterbacks do get hurt, So you know, I
- 50:46Speaker 5: just look at it. If you can get him as
- 50:48Speaker 5: your QB two, I think he's the one guy worth
- 50:51Speaker 5: using a roster spot on that second QB because I
- 50:55Speaker 5: don't know if there's anyone else that you're gonna you know, like,
- 50:58Speaker 5: if he start, whenever he's starting, you know, his upside
- 51:01Speaker 5: is going to be similar to Justin Fields or somebody
- 51:03Speaker 5: like that. And I just don't know if you're getting
- 51:05Speaker 5: another player there that you could kind of bank on
- 51:07Speaker 5: that type of upside right away that that loan the draft.
- 51:11Speaker 5: So I actually would make an exception for him and
- 51:13Speaker 5: have him as my QB too. I think that would
- 51:14Speaker 5: actually be the ideal scenario because you know, GARDAVNHW might
- 51:18Speaker 5: start Week one in the coach Automatic loss to Jacksonville.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Well, so's sound with.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Kebs then, Chris, if you're if you're viewing any team
- 51:26Speaker 2: that has lost the biggest key position, it's gotta be Tampa, right,
- 51:29Speaker 2: Tampa lost Brady. What's your outlook on this couple because
- 51:32Speaker 2: upcoming season, because Mike Evans is still there, Godwin's still there.
- 51:35Speaker 3: How are you viewing these guys now? Where?
- 51:37Speaker 2: Holy shit, man, it might be Baker Mayfield throwing to him,
- 51:39Speaker 2: like what are we doing here? So what's your view
- 51:41Speaker 2: of this upcoming season on this Tampa team?
- 51:44Speaker 5: The arrow for Evans and Godwin is pointing downwards, like
- 51:49Speaker 5: Tampa Bay themselves, like they might they might have a
- 51:52Speaker 5: pretty good defense and might play, you know, like they
- 51:55Speaker 5: might keep games closer than we think. And Mike, they
- 51:57Speaker 5: might be one of those teams we're betting on as
- 51:59Speaker 5: an underdog a lot. But in terms of their fantasy potential,
- 52:02Speaker 5: it's probably gonna be ugly because you look at Mike
- 52:05Speaker 5: Evans and Godwin. Last year they were volume dependent wide receivers.
- 52:11Speaker 5: They both finished in the top twenty. But Evans seventy
- 52:15Speaker 5: seven catches, just over eleven hundred yards, only six touchdowns,
- 52:19Speaker 5: and Chris Godwin over one hundred catches, just over one
- 52:22Speaker 5: thousand yards, but only three touchdowns. So a lot of catches,
- 52:27Speaker 5: a lot of yards, not many touchdowns even last year. Well,
- 52:30Speaker 5: now you're going from Brady to Mayfield and or even
- 52:35Speaker 5: Kyle Trask twenty one third rounder, nine career pass attempts.
- 52:39Speaker 5: But the issue here is not just to drop off
- 52:43Speaker 5: in terms of the efficiency.
- 52:45Speaker 4: It's the volume.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Because when you have Tom Brady, you're gonna throw forty
- 52:51Speaker 5: four times a game.
- 52:53Speaker 4: That's what Tampa Bay did last year.
- 52:54Speaker 5: They led the league forty four point two pass attempts
- 52:58Speaker 5: per game, forty more pass attempts than any other team
- 53:01Speaker 5: in the National Football League. Baker Mayfield has only attempted
- 53:05Speaker 5: that many passes three times in his entire career.
- 53:08Speaker 4: He averages under thirty two attempts per game for his career.
- 53:13Speaker 5: So I think you're gonna see a totally different offense,
- 53:17Speaker 5: a lot fewer passing attempts, and Tampa Bay's defense still
- 53:20Speaker 5: isn't bad. So yes, they're gonna be probably one of
- 53:24Speaker 5: the worst teams in the league, but that doesn't necessarily
- 53:27Speaker 5: mean they're gonna get run out of the building. I
- 53:29Speaker 5: could see them playing a lot of like twenty to
- 53:31Speaker 5: ten games, you know, seventeen than not. Those kind of
- 53:34Speaker 5: games not gonna be too conducive for a fantasy production
- 53:39Speaker 5: from the passing game. So I'm hoping Mike Evans can
- 53:42Speaker 5: still get his keep his one thousand yard streak going.
- 53:44Speaker 5: But remember he got like a bunch of touchdowns in
- 53:47Speaker 5: one game last year.
- 53:48Speaker 4: It was pretty ugly outside.
- 53:50Speaker 5: Of that, and and Godwin, you know who knows, with
- 53:54Speaker 5: him I think he's gonna be a little healthier, but overall,
- 53:58Speaker 5: you know, he had a he was one hundred hatch
- 54:00Speaker 5: receiver last year. He had about twenty five more catches
- 54:04Speaker 5: than Evans. And with the volume decrease we're projecting, I mean,
- 54:08Speaker 5: you know, Godwin and Godwin could drop off, you know,
- 54:11Speaker 5: twenty thirty catches if not more, and Evans could have
- 54:14Speaker 5: his first sub one thousand yard season. So right now, Evans,
- 54:19Speaker 5: even though they finished top twenty, Evans going wide receiver
- 54:21Speaker 5: twenty seven and Godwin going wide receiver thirty. And I
- 54:24Speaker 5: think that's fair because you just don't the touchdowns. You
- 54:28Speaker 5: just don't know where they're going to come from. When
- 54:30Speaker 5: when Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are in your quarterback ron.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Before we get to our last topic from Kerner, which
- 54:38Speaker 1: is also I think fairly controversial. In a little bit
- 54:41Speaker 1: of a surprise, quick round robin like we do and
- 54:45Speaker 1: convince me, quick round robin, Mike Evans Hall of Famer,
- 54:50Speaker 1: Sean Kerner yes or no?
- 54:52Speaker 6: Yes?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Okay, Simon Hunter yes or.
- 54:56Speaker 3: No yeah, easy easy, Raybond.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Easy us or note yes absolutely. I think I agree.
- 55:05Speaker 1: All right, Curner. We just went through Tom Brady, Aaron
- 55:09Speaker 1: Rodgers justin fields, we went through a bevy of potential
- 55:14Speaker 1: All Pro running backs and yet for the last topic
- 55:17Speaker 1: of the day, you want to bring me the Lions
- 55:21Speaker 1: for the second time. You want to bring me someone
- 55:24Speaker 1: who has never played an NFL snap yep, wan who
- 55:28Speaker 1: it is? And why?
- 55:29Speaker 7: Getting you ready for convince me that these random players?
- 55:32Speaker 7: But I love this landing spot on both sides. But
- 55:35Speaker 7: it's Sam Laporta to the Lions. And you know, laporta
- 55:39Speaker 7: tight end from Iowa, tight end from Iowa who has
- 55:42Speaker 7: been producing a lot of good tight ends the last
- 55:45Speaker 7: decade or so, but he was one of the better
- 55:47Speaker 7: pass catching tight ends in this year's class, and it
- 55:50Speaker 7: was kind of surprising, you know, the Lions took him
- 55:52Speaker 7: in the second round with Michael Mayer, who was considered
- 55:55Speaker 7: the top overall titand prospect since he's a pretty good
- 55:57Speaker 7: pass blocker, was also available. So it's clear that the
- 56:01Speaker 7: Lions want to tap into Laporter's receiving upside because they're
- 56:04Speaker 7: looking to replace TJ. Hawkinson after training way to the
- 56:07Speaker 7: Vikings last year. So Laporta is who replaced TJ. Hawkinson
- 56:11Speaker 7: at Iowa, looked every bit as good. Now he's going
- 56:13Speaker 7: to replace him in Detroit. And just due to like
- 56:16Speaker 7: you know, Jamison Williams being out in the first six
- 56:19Speaker 7: games behind Alman ros Saint, Brown's kind of shaky. Who's
- 56:23Speaker 7: gonna be the number two pass catcher. Laporta has a
- 56:25Speaker 7: chance at least to be Jared Goff's number two target
- 56:28Speaker 7: this season, So I think he has a ton of
- 56:30Speaker 7: upside in this offense. I thought it was a great
- 56:32Speaker 7: move for the Lions, who, like I said, they need
- 56:34Speaker 7: to replace t J.
- 56:35Speaker 6: Hawkinson.
- 56:35Speaker 7: So I thought it was good for both the Lions
- 56:38Speaker 7: and Laporta that he ended up in Detroit.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Right then, this feels like a special for you a
- 56:44Speaker 1: tight end nobody's heard of.
- 56:49Speaker 4: If you know who he is or the draft.
- 56:53Speaker 5: But yeah, I like it because listen, tight end gets
- 56:57Speaker 5: really ugly quick. Like last year, I mean Mark Mark
- 57:00Speaker 5: Andrews was kind of a disappointment. George Kittle, you know,
- 57:06Speaker 5: wasn't targeted a lot, just but he saved this season
- 57:08Speaker 5: with eleven touchdowns, you know, and with McCaffrey there, he
- 57:12Speaker 5: might not be a productive Darren Waller's you know, over
- 57:15Speaker 5: thirty and on a new team.
- 57:17Speaker 4: It's it's tough at tight end.
- 57:18Speaker 5: So you know, if you miss out on on on
- 57:21Speaker 5: a a week guy, I think you want to take
- 57:24Speaker 5: a flyer in Laporta. You know they they drafted him
- 57:28Speaker 5: with the intent to use him as a pass catcher,
- 57:30Speaker 5: as Sean has alluded to.
- 57:32Speaker 4: So you know, I look back. You know TJ.
- 57:34Speaker 5: Hockinson's first ever game with the Detroit Lions eight catches,
- 57:39Speaker 5: one hundred and twenty one yards and a touchdown. So
- 57:41Speaker 5: he might have to bet some Laporta overs Week one
- 57:43Speaker 5: against Kansas.
- 57:44Speaker 7: City against the Cardinals, who's they were like historically bad
- 57:47Speaker 7: against Titans.
- 57:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean every year they are that same same day,
- 57:50Speaker 5: Like remember no a fan last year.
- 57:51Speaker 4: But I digress.
- 57:53Speaker 5: I think I'll throw you know, Like for me, my
- 57:57Speaker 5: plan at tight end is if I can't get like
- 57:59Speaker 5: a top five guy, uh, it's Chigo Konquo, That's the
- 58:03Speaker 5: that's the guy really want.
- 58:04Speaker 4: I think he has.
- 58:05Speaker 5: He's one of the only other guys with top five upside,
- 58:08Speaker 5: And then I'm going after guys like, uh, the young
- 58:11Speaker 5: guys like Kincaid and in Laporta, because these guys have
- 58:16Speaker 5: a chance to be a major parts of their offenses
- 58:18Speaker 5: and they're kind of like slot receivers too. You know,
- 58:21Speaker 5: Laporta played over half the snaps slot and wide, so
- 58:24Speaker 5: you know he he's not necessarily a tight end in
- 58:27Speaker 5: the sense that like it's gonna be this massive learning
- 58:29Speaker 5: curve because he's almost gonna be a little bit more
- 58:31Speaker 5: like a receiver. So you know, with this Lion team,
- 58:35Speaker 5: amon Ro is going to be.
- 58:36Speaker 4: A target hog. I'm sure Gibbs.
- 58:38Speaker 5: Gibbs might be the number two target, but I mean
- 58:40Speaker 5: you've got Marvin Jones and Josh Reynolds and Khalif Raymond
- 58:45Speaker 5: until James and Williams get back, and Williams might be
- 58:48Speaker 5: a low percentage route runner anyway, so there could be
- 58:52Speaker 5: you know, like a good three four catches open here
- 58:56Speaker 5: for Laporta every game. And you know that doesn't sound
- 58:59Speaker 5: like a lot, but at tight end, and especially when
- 59:01Speaker 5: you're getting them outside the top twenty, I think there's
- 59:04Speaker 5: some upside here.
- 59:04Speaker 4: So I totally agree with Sean.
- 59:06Speaker 1: You know what's interesting. I feel like, as we wrap
- 59:09Speaker 1: it up, I feel like this was a fantasy focused podcast,
- 59:14Speaker 1: but we got a lot of betting insights here. Let
- 59:17Speaker 1: me wrap up some of my notes right A. We
- 59:20Speaker 1: might want to get on Miami sooner rather than later
- 59:23Speaker 1: for a little bit of a taste of a future,
- 59:25Speaker 1: because if Dalvin Cold does go there, the number could move.
- 59:29Speaker 1: We all agree that we're probably going to be in
- 59:31Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons podcast again, right, Simon, can I get confirmation?
- 59:36Speaker 3: I don't know, you know, I like the Piccatarian.
- 59:38Speaker 1: We're probably going to be in Atlanta Falcons pod.
- 59:40Speaker 3: I am.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 59:42Speaker 5: I was the Panthers last year. I was the Panthers
- 59:44Speaker 5: whisperer last year. I'm pivoting to the Falcons.
- 59:46Speaker 1: We're probably going to be fading the Lions early in
- 59:49Speaker 1: the year because the public is going to love them
- 59:50Speaker 1: so much. We're probably going to hold on. I can't
- 59:55Speaker 1: read my notes here. I'll have to skip that one.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Oh what did I run? I just wrote it down.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: I can't even read it.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers passing yard unders.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Well, we're definitely gonna like Garrett Wilson over and Aaron
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Rodgers passing yards under. We also are probably going to
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: fade Mike Evans season totals, probably going to fade Chris
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Godwin season totals, and we're gonna like Sam Laporta in
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Week one. Loving all of this good for us.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: Miles Sanders ower receptions.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Everyone should go listen to the Fantasy podcast that we're
