- 0:31SPEAKER_03: Hello.
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: Hello, evermotter.
- 0:33SPEAKER_09: Hello, everybody.
- 0:35SPEAKER_09: Um, I'm O'Brien.
- 0:37SPEAKER_09: I'm Doug.
- 0:38SPEAKER_09: It is episode 283.
- 0:42SPEAKER_09: Um, we had a lot going on last week.
- 0:46SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we did.
- 0:47SPEAKER_09: Man, it was uh, and the week kind of went did a week go by fast for you?
- 0:51SPEAKER_09: It seemed to, yeah.
- 0:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 0:52SPEAKER_09: Because we had a lot of stuff planned, especially for the well, I mean, was it last week?
- 0:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was.
- 0:57SPEAKER_09: It was last week I took the trip.
- 0:58SPEAKER_09: We already talked about that.
- 0:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:00SPEAKER_09: But uh we had uh teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, so half days.
- 1:05SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: And then um Yeah, because it was much easier getting home from Ashland.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Because you guys weren't there.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Wait, what does that mean?
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: Because I don't get caught behind the freaking buses.
- 1:18SPEAKER_09: Oh, do you get caught when you leave?
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: Every single day.
- 1:21SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: I get caught but at least one bus.
- 1:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:26SPEAKER_09: So like on the In Mapleton.
- 1:29SPEAKER_09: In Mapleton.
- 1:30SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.
- 1:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_09: I guess that's it.
- 1:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because I wait until Ashland, all the Ashland buses leave, and I know I know roughly when the one that the the one is going in my direction.
- 1:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Because he only goes so far and then he turns around and comes back because there's nobody beyond a certain point.
- 1:44SPEAKER_09: What time do you normally leave?
- 1:46SPEAKER_09: I leave 2 30.
- 1:47SPEAKER_09: 2 30.
- 1:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:48SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:49SPEAKER_09: Um So, and then Friday we had uh well, we had you guys didn't have an in-service because you were we we had the the regular school gig or whatever.
- 1:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_09: So we had my district had an in-service, which was just th the four members of the music department sitting around talking basically in the morning.
- 2:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's pretty much all.
- 2:08SPEAKER_09: I mean, we were talking about important things.
- 2:09SPEAKER_09: Oh, I'm sure, yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_09: But um, that's what it was.
- 2:12SPEAKER_09: And then uh the afternoon I traveled to Ashlandon when Skinny Elvis played.
- 2:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:16SPEAKER_09: And that was pretty fun.
- 2:17SPEAKER_09: It was fun.
- 2:18SPEAKER_09: I think the kids had a good time.
- 2:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:20SPEAKER_03: Apparently we are that quote that John put in the thread.
- 2:26SPEAKER_09: Chris Morton said that too.
- 2:27SPEAKER_09: What?
- 2:28SPEAKER_09: He said uh uh that's what uh Macy, his daughter.
- 2:32SPEAKER_09: Um divorced dad music.
- 2:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, Skinny Elvis is divorced dad music.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: I don't remember her saying that.
- 2:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but I just thought it was like I'm pretty sure it would Mason that said it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: Maybe.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: Um but in addition, it was just kind of I like Skinny Elvis, it's all divorced dad music.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: That's my jam.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: Unquote.
- 2:53SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: A divorced dad music.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna have to ask him tomorrow who said that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_09: Um and then uh the syndicate played Saturday nights with our fundraiser, our Larry Hall Memorial Fund fundraiser.
- 3:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_09: Raised like 39.
- 3:07SPEAKER_09: Almost four grand.
- 3:09SPEAKER_09: Almost four grand.
- 3:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_09: Um and uh, you know, had all kinds of surprises.
- 3:14SPEAKER_09: The uh Washburn Rotary Club recognized us for that was that was a surprise.
- 3:19SPEAKER_09: It was a surprise.
- 3:20SPEAKER_09: I did not see that coming.
- 3:21SPEAKER_09: Service above self is what it was.
- 3:23SPEAKER_09: And you know, the only thing that I I w wish, and not that anybody was saying anything, excuse me, was um uh most of the people in that audience don't know what we do besides play play music at festivals.
- 3:39SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 3:40SPEAKER_09: And we get paid for that.
- 3:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:41SPEAKER_09: You know, so I was like, well, it's it looks kind of weird getting giving us service above self.
- 3:46SPEAKER_09: But A, you know, we we raise money for uh the Larry Hall Memorial Fund, which helps um, you know, m music uh departments uh are around the state, really.
- 3:56SPEAKER_09: I mean, that that that need it.
- 3:58SPEAKER_09: But also uh we go to schools and we play school shows for free.
- 4:02SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 4:02SPEAKER_09: Uh just to promote music education, yeah, music in schools and stuff like that.
- 4:06SPEAKER_09: So but I don't know that a lot of people know that, especially in that audience.
- 4:10SPEAKER_09: But we never got any, you know, everybody was like, oh, it's well deserved, and it was really nice.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Well it's not like nobody was like, wow, no, no, no, no.
- 4:17SPEAKER_09: Jerks.
- 4:18SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 4:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_09: But I think I mean it would be a bunch of A-holes.
- 4:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:23SPEAKER_09: Um I think it would make more sense if if they knew that.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: But maybe, you know, I I could be just I mean, is it really charity if everybody knows about it?
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 4:32SPEAKER_09: So well, not that I want everybody to know about it.
- 4:34SPEAKER_09: I like that we just kind of do it.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's just what we do.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: I was trying to think the other day, um, over since we've been doing fundraising shows, we've probably and this is a conservative estimate.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: I think I'm I'm thinking we've raised around fifteen thousand dollars.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Oh, easily.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because probably probably it's probably closer to twenty.
- 4:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: But I mean, that's I mean, for uh we're not a service organization.
- 5:04SPEAKER_09: We're not a right, we're a band.
- 5:06SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 5:07SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 5:08SPEAKER_09: But we have a great following.
- 5:09SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 5:10SPEAKER_09: Um and and we attract a very generous following.
- 5:13SPEAKER_09: A very generous following.
- 5:14SPEAKER_09: Very generous following.
- 5:15SPEAKER_09: So, you know, we've done the Larry Hall Memorial twice.
- 5:17SPEAKER_09: We did the Rustic House of Comfort.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: House of Comfort.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: We've done uh we've done the Veterans Farm.
- 5:24SPEAKER_09: We raised money for the very hall that we played in.
- 5:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for uh Wadeen or Govin Family Center for the Arts or something like that.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: Whatever they're calling it now.
- 5:34SPEAKER_09: So yeah, I mean we we have done some stuff and and uh so it's it's that was a surprise.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_09: It was pretty cool.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I didn't see that coming.
- 5:42SPEAKER_09: No, didn't see that coming at all.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: So that was neat.
- 5:44SPEAKER_09: Thank you to the Washburn Rotary Club for that.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: Um you find it odd that it was the Washburn Rotary Club and not the Prescow one, considering we're named after the Prescow area.
- 5:58SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 5:59SPEAKER_09: You find it odd that there was nobody there to let us in the auditorium.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: Oh no, that's par for the course.
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: Well, I was I was I was in a mood Sunday because I was in pain and tired, and I was just like, so I was vending to Morton.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: And I was like, why is it every time we play a gig in Prescott, it's a friggin' Charlie Fox drop.
- 6:21SPEAKER_09: It's it's true.
- 6:22SPEAKER_09: Every single time.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: And we're named after these people.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: So I was like, we should we should change the name.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Rename ourselves the county syndicate.
- 6:30SPEAKER_09: Or just a syndicate.
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: Well, now that's because that was Al Capone's thing, and I don't want to be Associated.
- 6:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: So um, but you're right though, uh, and nobody from the city listens to this, I guess, but the city of Prescale, you know, we always kind of get something, you know, comes up or whatever.
- 6:49SPEAKER_03: That's no no gig.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: I I can't think of a single Prescall gig that actually goes well.
- 6:55SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 6:56SPEAKER_09: It's true.
- 6:58SPEAKER_03: Especially if if the city is involved.
- 7:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: I mean, we did the bike.
- 7:03SPEAKER_09: Yep, that was all right.
- 7:04SPEAKER_03: But it wasn't the city involved.
- 7:06SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 7:06SPEAKER_09: It was it was bike main or whatever.
- 7:09SPEAKER_09: That was the weather that uh oh oh at bike main, oh, the one downtown.
- 7:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_09: That was great.
- 7:15SPEAKER_09: That was fun, that wasn't it.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that was great.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: I thought you meant.
- 7:17SPEAKER_03: But I mean, here they are.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: I mean, we do stuff for the town.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: What do they do?
- 7:21SPEAKER_03: They put us out in the middle of Main Street on New Year's Eve.
- 7:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:25SPEAKER_09: Below zero.
- 7:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was I mean, it wasn't super cold, but I mean it's cold enough.
- 7:30SPEAKER_09: It was cold enough to play.
- 7:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean the cold that that you didn't want to play.
- 7:32SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 7:33SPEAKER_09: You didn't want to you didn't want to come out.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: You know, we can't get in it.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: We're trying to put on a show at Umpy.
- 7:38SPEAKER_03: Nobody's there to let us in.
- 7:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's just it's just one thing after a freaking other.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, we never we don't really have any the only time I can re and any other surrounding area was the first time we played in Washburn.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: It was a Charlie Fox truck up there, but that was the first time we had that was our first time in season.
- 8:00SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 8:00SPEAKER_09: And they fixed it.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: And they fixed it.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: Ever since then, we've had no problems up there.
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: No well, no problems at Fort.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: Super no problems in Madawaska.
- 8:09SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: I I don't know.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: Easton, Easton's always gone well.
- 8:16SPEAKER_03: They're always got their crap together.
- 8:17SPEAKER_03: I I don't know, man.
- 8:18SPEAKER_03: They just no, it's true.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: It's true.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: It's just frustrating sometimes.
- 8:23SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 8:24SPEAKER_09: Um But I digress.
- 8:29SPEAKER_09: What uh what else are we gonna talk about?
- 8:32SPEAKER_09: That was it, right?
- 8:32SPEAKER_09: For this, for for that.
- 8:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I think that was it.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: Um we do have we're we're we're we're doing workshops in a couple of oh, that's right.
- 8:40SPEAKER_09: That's what it was.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_09: Okay, so this is kind of a neat little happening that that I just found out tonight.
- 8:47SPEAKER_09: Um, thanks to you.
- 8:49SPEAKER_09: So um Music Will is a well, I shouldn't say I guess it doesn't have anything to do with Music Will.
- 8:57SPEAKER_09: Uh Modern Band is a new thing that uh schools are doing where uh it's instead of playing a trumpet in regular band or whatever, um you we we kind of um well we've talked about this before.
- 9:10SPEAKER_09: It's like a band, like you have drums and rock band.
- 9:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's a rock band.
- 9:15SPEAKER_09: Um and so Kevin Mania, who is the music teacher down in Holton, uh, just kills with this.
- 9:22SPEAKER_09: I mean, he it knocks it out of the park every single time.
- 9:26SPEAKER_09: Um and so he last year he invited me to go to this um modern band uh festival, I guess, that he was putting on down in Holton.
- 9:40SPEAKER_09: And I ran the guitar clinic, which was basically me sitting there and having these these uh kids uh come and play for me and me give them advice, which is Oh, is that what you did?
- 9:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah, pretty much.
- 9:54SPEAKER_09: Uh and it wasn't structured, and I've already told Kevin this, it wasn't structured uh supremely well.
- 10:01SPEAKER_09: And I shouldn't say it wasn't structured well.
- 10:03SPEAKER_09: The time that they gave us wasn't enough.
- 10:05SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_09: And it was just it seemed rushed, and uh, we had like the whole band was down there uh, you know, playing for us and stuff like that.
- 10:13SPEAKER_09: So it was just it was just kind of all th uh kind of not exactly the way it should be.
- 10:21SPEAKER_09: Oh so anyway, he took that, and I get I think I guess he's changed it for this year, so it looks good.
- 10:26SPEAKER_09: He took that uh input because I wasn't the only one that said it.
- 10:28SPEAKER_09: John Simonoff said it as well.
- 10:30SPEAKER_09: So John Simonov, syndicate bass player, he runs a bass clinic.
- 10:34SPEAKER_09: Um I can't remember who did the drum clinic last year, but I think it was Kevin, actually.
- 10:40SPEAKER_09: Um anyway, he asked me to do the guitar clinic again this year.
- 10:45SPEAKER_09: I kind of sat on the idea for a little while, but then I finally said yes, and then you came down uh to the fun dungeon, and you're doing the what do you know?
- 10:54SPEAKER_09: What is it you're you're doing?
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: I asked him the same thing.
- 10:57SPEAKER_03: He's like, you're doing the front man slash singer workshop.
- 11:02SPEAKER_09: So so I can tell you what it is, because last year we had a uh representative from Music Will.
- 11:10SPEAKER_09: Music Will is a company that basically started the idea of Modern Band, or actually they took the idea of Modern Band and ran with it, and they started this organization.
- 11:19SPEAKER_09: And um, so they had a representative come up, and this representative talked to them about stage presence.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 11:28SPEAKER_09: And and like like how to stand when you're singing, how to not look bored when there's a guitar solo, you know, things like that.
- 11:38SPEAKER_09: Things to do uh on stage to engage the audience.
- 11:42SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 11:43SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 11:43SPEAKER_09: So I bet you that's what you're gonna be doing.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: And I was like, are you sure you got the right guy?
- 11:52SPEAKER_09: But the the funny thing is, is now that you're going, I guess you told me that Chris Morton is doing the drum.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: That's what that's what well, that's what Kevin told me.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: He said, Morton's doing the drums, you're doing guitar, Sarah's doing keys, and John's doing guys.
- 12:05SPEAKER_09: Sarah's doing keys, too, keys too?
- 12:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_09: So it's Skinny Elvis is basically.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: That's what I said.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: I said basically Skinny Elvis is gonna be playing, you know, doing workshops at this thing.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:15SPEAKER_09: So that's funny.
- 12:16SPEAKER_09: I I think it's hilarious.
- 12:18SPEAKER_09: That's yeah, that's funny.
- 12:19SPEAKER_09: We gotta get up there and jam.
- 12:21SPEAKER_09: I hope we get jam.
- 12:22SPEAKER_09: I hope we get to jam.
- 12:23SPEAKER_09: That would be fun.
- 12:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it would be.
- 12:25SPEAKER_09: Um I'm looking forward to it.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: I think it's gonna be fun.
- 12:28SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and then of course, that night we have a gig.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, is that the one in Carrie?
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Believe it, yeah.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: Sizzle and Slice.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:33SPEAKER_09: So it's our first that's our first time at Sizzle and Slice.
- 12:36SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 12:36SPEAKER_09: So that should be interesting.
- 12:37SPEAKER_03: Ah, yeah, we'll be in perfect shape for that.
- 12:39SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: We got a gig this weekend.
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: We we have train wreck opening for us.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: Yes, I I heard that.
- 12:48SPEAKER_03: Quote unquote.
- 12:49SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 12:50SPEAKER_09: I know them.
- 12:51SPEAKER_09: I know the band.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: Well, I was about to say they go to your school.
- 12:53SPEAKER_09: They do.
- 12:53SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 12:54SPEAKER_09: Um, guitar player is sick.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_09: He's yeah, he's he's a real good guitar player.
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: Were they the ones that played before we put Washburn?
- 13:02SPEAKER_09: Nope, Mapleton.
- 13:03SPEAKER_03: Mapleton, that's right.
- 13:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they were pretty good.
- 13:05SPEAKER_09: They're they're a great band.
- 13:06SPEAKER_09: Um when you hear hear them in the right place.
- 13:09SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: You know, when that when the sound is good and everything.
- 13:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_09: So I think it's I think it'll be fun.
- 13:15SPEAKER_09: You know, I think well, slush wash rush is uh was last weekend, right?
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everything's over.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: I mean, yeah.
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: So this is the lifts are closed.
- 13:22SPEAKER_03: This is just they're keeping the bar open, that's all it is.
- 13:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:25SPEAKER_09: So they're playing until five.
- 13:28SPEAKER_09: Five, and then we go on at six.
- 13:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:30SPEAKER_09: So that'll be cool.
- 13:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:31SPEAKER_09: That'll be fun.
- 13:32SPEAKER_09: Um what else?
- 13:36SPEAKER_09: That weekend that we're doing the um modern band thing, I think my wife is taking Eli to a couple colleges.
- 13:43SPEAKER_09: Oh, oh yeah, because it was it was uh it landed on the weekend that I had stuff going on, so I can't go.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: Because that day before we're going, we're playing up north.
- 13:52SPEAKER_03: Syndicate for the school shows.
- 13:54SPEAKER_03: That's right.
- 13:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:55SPEAKER_09: So that's gonna be a busy weekend.
- 13:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_09: So another one.
- 13:58SPEAKER_09: Syndicate school shows, uh, modern band festival, and then we're playing that night.
- 14:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 14:04SPEAKER_03: Crazy.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: Crazy.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: Um for thinking we're really a band.
- 14:12SPEAKER_09: Let's do this.
- 14:15SPEAKER_09: Um April music releases.
- 14:17SPEAKER_09: Let's get to this real quick because we've we've already talked about some of these.

- 16:24SPEAKER_03: Well, you're not allowed to skip it because it's a political commercial.
- 16:27SPEAKER_09: Exactly.

- 19:34SPEAKER_09: I don't know if these are reissues or not.
- 19:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah, this is all for Record Store Day, which is April 18th.
- 19:41SPEAKER_09: And uh I'm not gonna even go there.
- 19:49SPEAKER_09: Oh, there's the Bruce Khula Transformer one.
- 19:52SPEAKER_09: No, that's not the one I'm looking for.
- 19:57SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 19:58SPEAKER_09: Let me go back here.
- 20:01SPEAKER_09: I think I'm gonna stop there.
- 20:03SPEAKER_09: Uh because these all these ones for Record Store Day, uh, I'm not even gonna go into because there's a lot.
- 20:09SPEAKER_09: And does anybody care about record store day anymore?
- 20:13SPEAKER_09: There's no record store, so why wouldn't we?
- 20:15SPEAKER_09: No, right, exactly.
- 20:16SPEAKER_09: That's what I'm saying.
- 20:16SPEAKER_09: The closest record store to us is two and a half hours away.
- 20:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_09: So um oh, well, that's not true, KMHs.
- 20:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but they're not.
- 20:25SPEAKER_09: They don't do that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:27SPEAKER_09: Uh let's see.
- 20:30SPEAKER_09: Let me do this real quick.
- 20:34SPEAKER_09: Jeff Tate shares new details about Operation Minecrime 3.
- 20:38SPEAKER_09: I mentioned that there was a Minecrime 3, and you were like, ooh, really?
- 20:42SPEAKER_09: They're doing a third one?
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, the first one was amazing.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: Number two was crap.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: So I'm hoping for like a mediocre.
- 20:51SPEAKER_09: Well, it's Jeff Tate, it's not Queensreich.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: So that's why that's what worries me.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: But I mean, the stuff he's been doing since he broke up with Queensreich is pretty it's pretty good.
- 21:03SPEAKER_09: Um he says, I think it was 2020 actually when the inspiration really started happening with that, and I started thinking in terms of making another Minecrime record.
- 21:11SPEAKER_09: Uh Dr.
- 21:11SPEAKER_09: X, the shadowy character, who has a big yet mysterious presence on the original Minecrime, provided an intriguing angle for the music that soon began to emerge.
- 21:20SPEAKER_09: He seems to have a lot of power over people and seems very charismatic.
- 21:24SPEAKER_09: He seems very wealthy and able to pull a lot of strings, but we don't know how he got where he got, and we don't know what makes him tick, so to speak.
- 21:31SPEAKER_09: So I started thinking about that, and it led us to where we are now, really.
- 21:35SPEAKER_09: So it's like a prequel to the first one?
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, maybe.
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: Um because in the original Mind Crime, uh the main guy shoots Dr.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: X.
- 21:48SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 21:50SPEAKER_09: So we have a track.
- 21:54SPEAKER_09: Um this is let's see.
- 21:56SPEAKER_09: There's a track listing.
- 22:03SPEAKER_09: Here's the track listing.
- 22:06SPEAKER_09: The scene of the crime.
- 22:07SPEAKER_09: You know my effing name.
- 22:10SPEAKER_09: The answer.
- 22:11SPEAKER_09: Vulnerable.
- 22:11SPEAKER_09: I'll eat your heart out.
- 22:12SPEAKER_09: Do you still believe the devil's breath?
- 22:15SPEAKER_09: Ascension sets you free.
- 22:18SPEAKER_09: You can't walk away now.
- 22:20SPEAKER_09: A monster like me.
- 22:22SPEAKER_09: Okay, we do have a track.
- 22:24SPEAKER_09: I mentioned power.
- 22:26SPEAKER_09: So uh we're gonna hear what uh what that sounds like.
- 22:29SPEAKER_09: Jeff Tate, Operation Minecraft three.
- 22:32SPEAKER_09: This is called Power.
- 24:13SPEAKER_09: Oh, E67.
- 24:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, wow.
- 24:16SPEAKER_09: It sounds amazing.
- 24:18SPEAKER_09: I know, right?
- 24:30SPEAKER_09: I mean, if you like Queen's Reich, I mean, yeah, it's wow, Operation Minecraft.
- 24:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:37SPEAKER_09: It's you can't use the name Queen's Drag.
- 24:40SPEAKER_09: That's but I'm you know what I mean.
- 24:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 24:42SPEAKER_09: Um I think it's right up your alley if you're into that.
- 24:45SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'm totally getting this.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: If the if this song is any indication of what the rest of the album is, totally getting this.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: I mean have the I have the other two, so Yeah, you gotta complete the set.
- 24:56SPEAKER_09: Why not?
- 24:56SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 24:56SPEAKER_09: Have the whole trilogy.
- 24:58SPEAKER_09: Well, that comes out.
- 25:00SPEAKER_09: When did I say that came out?
- 25:01SPEAKER_09: You didn't.
- 25:02SPEAKER_09: I didn't.
- 25:02SPEAKER_09: Uh I think I did on the actual on the the list of oh, it arrives May 3rd.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, May 3rd, okay.
- 25:09SPEAKER_09: Maybe I didn't do it because I did April releases.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: It's not far away.
- 25:13SPEAKER_09: May 3rd.
- 25:14SPEAKER_09: May 3rd.
- 25:15SPEAKER_09: Um before we get to this list here, uh, we should mention that uh one of our I'm not gonna say childhood hero, but I remember when I took karate.
- 25:27SPEAKER_09: Uh karate.
- 25:29SPEAKER_09: One of the the things that was, you know, because I was a poor kid, really.
- 25:35SPEAKER_09: Um, but I really wanted those kicking jeans.
- 25:39SPEAKER_09: Do you remember those kicking jeans?
- 25:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: Chuck Norris kicked.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: Chuck Norris and uh Bill Superfoot Walls.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:45SPEAKER_09: I really wanted a pair of those, and I never got a pair of those.
- 25:48SPEAKER_09: I never got a pair either.
- 25:49SPEAKER_09: Um basically what it was was a stretchy crotch.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's all it was.
- 25:53SPEAKER_03: It was like it was like a pair of ghee pants made into jeans.
- 25:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_09: You know, same technology.
- 25:59SPEAKER_09: Something like that.
- 25:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.

- 26:13SPEAKER_09: Bill Superfoot Wallace.
- 26:15SPEAKER_09: No, it wasn't Superfoot Wallace.
- 26:16SPEAKER_09: You know who it was?
- 26:17SPEAKER_09: It was was it Rick something or Mike something?
- 26:21SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 26:22SPEAKER_09: Anyway.

- 26:33SPEAKER_09: I haven't uh I know he was in the hospital and then '86, I think.
- 26:38SPEAKER_09: Something like that, yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_09: Um so and I don't know how all of this started, but his legend grew uh after he stopped making Walker Texas Ranger.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he he suddenly became like a just a mythical creature.
- 26:54SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 26:54SPEAKER_09: And and people just started making up memes and and and jokes and and things.
- 27:00SPEAKER_09: And I don't I don't know where it came from.

- 27:33SPEAKER_09: Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice?
- 27:35SPEAKER_09: Twice.
- 27:37SPEAKER_09: Some of these I haven't heard yet.

- 27:50SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 27:51SPEAKER_09: To each your own.
- 27:53SPEAKER_09: Uh time waits for no man, unless that man is Chuck Norris.
- 27:57SPEAKER_09: There is no theory of evolution, just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live.
- 28:04SPEAKER_09: I like that one.
- 28:05SPEAKER_09: Uh Chuck Norris doesn't actually write books.
- 28:07SPEAKER_09: The words assemble themselves out of fear.

- 32:36SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 32:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for you.
- 32:38SPEAKER_03: I don't really consider them a hair metal band.
- 32:40SPEAKER_09: Oh, I do?
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: I consider them more grunge.
- 32:43SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: Well, they came out in the 90s.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: Everything about you.

- 32:54SPEAKER_03: I don't think they're hair metal.
- 32:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I don't think so either.
- 32:57SPEAKER_09: Uh Vane.

- 33:34SPEAKER_03: That's just my That's just personal.
- 33:37SPEAKER_09: Yep, I would have put it in.

- 33:42SPEAKER_09: But what do we know?
- 33:44SPEAKER_09: Surprised Van Halen didn't make it.
- 33:45SPEAKER_09: They're not hair metal.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: I know, but neither is Aerosmith.
- 33:49SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 33:50SPEAKER_09: So that's true.
- 33:52SPEAKER_09: Van Halen over.
- 33:53SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 33:53SPEAKER_09: I'm just playing by their rules.
- 33:55SPEAKER_09: Van Halen over Vane.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah, for sure.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: Dog.

- 36:42SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 36:43SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 36:43SPEAKER_09: I'll give you that one anyway.
- 36:45SPEAKER_09: Um.

- 39:22SPEAKER_03: Okay, and here's the judge.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: Here come the judge.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, that was actually a really tough pick for a mixtape this week.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Um, I really liked O'Brien and Cousin Larry's pick.
- 39:36SPEAKER_01: Um But I had to go with Purple Rain.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: I had to go with Prince this week.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: That was mine.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: I believe that was O'Brien's pick.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: Um that was a really good uh song choice for sure.
- 39:51SPEAKER_09: Oh she must have been working when she did that.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:55SPEAKER_03: You can tell she wasn't driving to work.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Because she's a race car driver.
- 39:59SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 40:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but you it seems like she just kind of ducked away to record that real quick.
- 40:04SPEAKER_09: That was a really good pick.
- 40:06SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean That was it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_09: Bye.
- 40:08SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, being a race car driver is very demanding.
- 40:10SPEAKER_09: Yes, it is.
- 40:11SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, you gotta get in the car and go really fast.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 40:15SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, you can't be loitering You know Yes, I know.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: You gotta get you gotta get you gotta get somewhere quick.
- 40:30SPEAKER_03: If you wanna keep your job.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Because being a race car driver is very demanding.
- 40:37SPEAKER_09: Alright, can we do the present now?
- 40:40SPEAKER_03: No.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: I don't wanna.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay, we can do it.
- 40:46SPEAKER_09: Okay, we can do the present.
- 40:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:47SPEAKER_09: So it was what was it?
- 40:49SPEAKER_03: It was the uh wedding, cheesiest wedding song.
- 40:52SPEAKER_09: Cheesiest wedding song ever.
- 40:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:54SPEAKER_09: What did Cousin Larry say?
- 40:56SPEAKER_03: Uh see.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, here's what he said.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: Mixtape.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: Well, I wasn't sure if this was referring to the wedding itself or the reception afterwards, so I'll pick one for each event.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: I can't help but think about Endless Love by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: Two superstars combined for a super song cheesy song.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: Superstar superstar cheesy song.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: I didn't like it then, and I still hate it.
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: But it was a popular wedding song back then and extremely cheesy.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: For the reception, I thought of you few I thought of you few different ones.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: Thought probably just meant the one.
- 41:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah, a few of a few different ones.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Uh I like Cool and the Gang, but the song Celebration was so overplayed back then that I have to go with that for the reception.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: Honorable mention to the electric slide.
- 41:39SPEAKER_03: I don't remember who sang it, but I think it was a you know line dance during the slide at every wedding.
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: I intended I attended in the 80s.
- 41:47SPEAKER_09: Okay, so which one are we going with?
- 41:49SPEAKER_09: Endless love or celebration?
- 41:50SPEAKER_09: Because she's got to pick, you know, one of them.
- 41:53SPEAKER_09: We'll go with uh Endless Love.
- 41:54SPEAKER_09: Endless love.
- 41:54SPEAKER_09: Okay, so let's do that.
- 41:57SPEAKER_09: That is pretty cheesy, actually.
- 42:00SPEAKER_09: So let's do this.
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: My love.
- 42:14SPEAKER_05: The only thing that's right.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: My first love.
- 43:25SPEAKER_09: Okay, what's yours?
- 43:26SPEAKER_09: Chicken dance.
- 43:28SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 43:29SPEAKER_03: I hate that friggin' song.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 44:07SPEAKER_09: Do they still play this at weddings?
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: I hope not.
- 44:10SPEAKER_03: I haven't been to a wedding in a while.
- 44:11SPEAKER_03: I think the last wedding I went to was Jude and Kristen's.
- 44:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I don't think they put it there.
- 44:15SPEAKER_09: They didn't play it though.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: Um Maybe it's not a thing anymore, but I hated it.
- 44:20SPEAKER_09: I was, you know, you made me think of another one.
- 44:22SPEAKER_09: Because the one because the the angle that I went uh is a little different.
- 44:28SPEAKER_09: Um because the song that I chose was actually a great song.
- 44:37SPEAKER_09: But the fact that they play it at weddings was funny at first.
- 44:43SPEAKER_09: And then it became okay, alright, alright.
- 44:47SPEAKER_09: Now it's cheesy.
- 44:49SPEAKER_09: Um it's this one.
- 44:56SPEAKER_09: That's a commercial.
- 44:57SPEAKER_09: Zip bound! No.
- 45:00SPEAKER_09: The fact they play zip bound.
- 45:02SPEAKER_03: Newsweight, keep it up.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: No, why would they play this at a wedding?
- 45:06SPEAKER_09: What do you mean?
- 45:12SPEAKER_09: Because they're off the market.
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: That's dumb.
- 45:15SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 45:16SPEAKER_09: That's the angle that I went.
- 45:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:18SPEAKER_09: It's cheesy that they play this at a wedding.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: That's stupid.
- 45:22SPEAKER_09: You never heard this at a wedding?
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: I don't think I've ever heard this at a wedding.
- 45:24SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: Plus it was just part of the dance, you know.
- 45:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, no, this is.
- 45:29SPEAKER_09: I mean, it has nothing to do with the wedding, it's just the chorus.
- 45:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:33SPEAKER_09: You know.
- 45:34SPEAKER_09: You made me think of uh the electric slide.
- 45:36unknown: I'm ready.
- 45:38SPEAKER_09: Did he?
- 45:40SPEAKER_09: Uh I'm gonna go with this because again, this was funny the first time.
- 45:44SPEAKER_09: And now it's DJs think they're they're cheeky.
- 45:49SPEAKER_09: Throwing this on.
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: I'm so off the market.
- 45:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:00SPEAKER_09: So I think that's cheating.
- 46:03SPEAKER_09: Silly.
- 46:03SPEAKER_09: Even though I love the song.
- 46:04SPEAKER_09: Okay, so that's Queen.
- 46:05SPEAKER_09: Another one bites the dust.
- 46:06SPEAKER_09: That is my pick.
- 46:08SPEAKER_09: The chicken dance, which I think is probably gonna win, uh, is Doug's pick and endless love from Lado Ritchie and Diana Ross.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: Well, cousin Larry brought up a good point that too.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: This will be good uh this will be a good one for the for the Miss Judgeness because she's getting married in September.
- 46:24SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's right.
- 46:25SPEAKER_09: We should hear none of these songs at the time.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, you know.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Just saying.
- 46:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:30SPEAKER_03: Or she could go the other way and play all three.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 46:33SPEAKER_03: So this could this could go either way.
- 46:35SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 46:35SPEAKER_09: So that's true.
- 46:37SPEAKER_09: Uh, and so there's there is the present.
- 46:40SPEAKER_09: What is the future question?
- 46:42SPEAKER_09: I haven't even picked yet.
- 46:43SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 46:44SPEAKER_09: That's why I handle it.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: I wonder if she's gonna get married on a racetrack, because that's where she works.
- 46:50SPEAKER_09: You're so full of caca.
- 46:52SPEAKER_03: I am.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: She does, she's not a race car driver.
- 46:55SPEAKER_03: No.
- 46:56SPEAKER_03: I don't think you.
- 46:57SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you knew I was shitting.
- 46:59SPEAKER_09: She's a hairdresser.
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's it.
- 47:03SPEAKER_03: She's a hairdresser.
- 47:06SPEAKER_03: No, we just that's another wedding one.
- 47:08SPEAKER_09: She's a parole officer.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 47:11SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 47:12SPEAKER_09: She's um she's a manager of a restaurant.
- 47:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, here we go.
- 47:19SPEAKER_03: Here's one.
- 47:20SPEAKER_09: She's not, huh?
- 47:21SPEAKER_09: What?
- 47:21SPEAKER_09: The manager of a restaurant?
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: Not that I know of.
- 47:25SPEAKER_09: She could be.
- 47:27SPEAKER_03: She could do anything.
- 47:28SPEAKER_03: She's really smart.
- 47:31SPEAKER_09: So she's a nurse.
- 47:34SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: She's a she's a brain surgeon.
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 47:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
