  Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment and

  immediately wished you could take it back?

  Maybe it was a sharp reply to a parent, a sarcastic comment to a
• 0:22
  friend, or something you typed online without really thinking.

  We've all been there. And here's the thing.
• 0:29
  Those moments reveal something deeper than just a bad day.
• 0:32
  They reveal what's actually going on inside our hearts.
• 0:35
  Proverbs chapter 15, verses 28 to 29 puts it plainly.
• 0:41
  The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the
• 0:43
  mouth of the wicked pours out evil.
• 0:46
  The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the
• 0:49
  righteous. Did you catch that?

  The righteous person pauses. They think before they speak,
• 0:56
  not because they're slow or unsure, but because they care
• 0:59
  about what their words do to people.

  And God notices that he draws close to a heart that's careful,
• 1:06
  that's considerate, that's rooted in something good.

  Now flip over to 1st Corinthians chapter 13, one of the most
• 1:14
  famous passages in the Bible, and you might think it's just a
• 1:17
  wedding verse, but honestly, it's one of the most practical
• 1:21
  guides to everyday life you'll ever find.

  Verses four and five say love is patient and kind.
• 1:27
  Love does not envy or boast. It is not arrogant or rude.
• 1:32
  It does not insist on its own way.
• 1:34
  It is not irritable or resentful.
• 1:36
  And then verse 7 adds love bears all things, believes all things,
• 1:41
  hopes all things, endures all things.

  That's not a soft, sentimental kind of love.

  That's a tough daily. Choose it even when it costs you
• 1:51
  kind of love. And here's what makes it so
• 1:54
  real. It shows up in conversation
• 1:56
  every single day. You're in dozens of
• 1:58
  interactions. A group chat blowing up with
• 2:01
  drama, a classroom argument that gets personal, a family dinner
• 2:06
  where someone says something that stings.
• 2:09
  In every one of those moments, love is either present or it
• 2:12
  isn't, and the difference is felt.
• 2:15
  Think about someone in your life right now.
• 2:18
  Maybe a friend who's been a little distant, or a sibling
• 2:21
  who's been getting on your nerves, or a classmate you've
• 2:23
  been quietly judging. What would it look like to
• 2:27
  respond to them with patience instead of frustration?
• 2:30
  With kindness instead of sarcasm?
• 2:32
  With a belief that sees the best in them even when they're not
• 2:35
  showing their best? It's not easy.
• 2:38
  Nobody said it was. But First Corinthians 13 doesn't
• 2:42
  describe love as a feeling you either have or you don't.

  It describes love as a series of choices.
• 2:48
  Patient. That's a choice kind.
• 2:51
  That's a choice. Not insisting on your own way.
• 2:54
  That is absolutely a choice, and often a hard one.

  But each of those choices made one at a time, shapes you into
• 3:01
  someone whose words actually carry weight, someone people
• 3:04
  trust, someone who reflects God's character in the most
• 3:08
  ordinary moments of life. And the beautiful thing is, when
• 3:12
  your heart is being shaped by that kind of love, it changes
• 3:16
  what comes out of your mouth naturally.
• 3:18
  You don't have to perform it. You don't have to fake it.
• 3:22
  It starts to flow from a place that's been quietly transformed
• 3:25
  by spending time with God, by letting His words sit in your
• 3:28
  heart, by asking Him to make you more like Him.
• 3:32
  Your words have power. They can wound or they can heal.
• 3:36
  They can push people away or draw them closer, closer to you
• 3:40
  and closer to God. So the real question isn't just
• 3:43
  what should I say. The deeper question is, what is
• 3:46
  my heart full of right now? Because whatever fills it will
• 3:50
  eventually overflow. Let's pray.

  Heavenly Father, thank you for reminding me that love is not
• 3:56
  just a feeling, it's a way of living every single day.

  I know my words don't always reflect the best of what I want
• 4:04
  to be, and I'm grateful that Your grace covers those moments.
• 4:08
  Help me to slow down before I speak.
• 4:11
  Help me to choose patience when I want to react, kindness when I
• 4:14
  want to be sharp, and humility when I want to be right.
• 4:18
  Fill my heart so full of your love that it naturally pours
• 4:21
  into the way I talk to people, my friends, my family, strangers
• 4:26
  and even people who are hard to love.
• 4:28
  Guard my tongue and grow my heart in Jesus name, Amen.

  hopes all things, and endures all things.

  Love never fails. But where there are prophecies,

  they will be done away with. Where there are various

  languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it

  will be done away with, for we know in part and we prophecy in

  part. But when that which is complete

  has come, then that which is partial will be done away with.

  When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I

  thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I

  have put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror

  dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I
• 7:26
  will know fully, even as I was also fully known.

  But now faith, hope and love remain these three.
