- 0:00Speaker 1: Donald. They are making a Lando series for Disney Plus,
- 0:05Speaker 1: and uh, Donald, Lover's coming back and I just don't
- 0:09Speaker 1: see how anyone could avoid you being on this show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Wait Donald's when did How did I miss this this morning?
- 0:18Speaker 1: Oh see, Joel, I had it right. Yeah, this is
- 0:20Speaker 1: brand new news. Uh. They think they just dropped a trailer.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I haven't watched the trailer trailer. Yeah, I think yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 1: somebody was saying that there's some images on Disney Plus,
- 0:31Speaker 1: so I'm not sure if they cut a trailer from me. Listen. Wait, Joel,
- 0:37Speaker 1: it's already been filmed. No, it hasn't been filmed. No, no, no,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I think it's footage from Solo that's been caught up
- 0:42Speaker 1: like that, like, yeah, he's in there doing his Lando
- 0:46Speaker 1: thing and they're like coming soon and Lando Calrizzi. Listen.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I was gonna say, Solo is a good movie. Y'all
- 0:51Speaker 1: can hate if you want to and act like so
- 0:53Speaker 1: I didn't make it through. Let me just listen. Let
- 0:57Speaker 1: me just tell you something right now. It was nothing
- 1:00Speaker 1: wrong with Solo. It was a fun Star Wars movie.
- 1:04Speaker 1: If it had come out before the Last Jedi, when
- 1:07Speaker 1: everybody was kind of over Star Wars for that little
- 1:10Speaker 1: bit of time. I promise you it would have been
- 1:14Speaker 1: well received. The problem was it was Rogue One, the
- 1:18Speaker 1: Last Jedi, and then Solo, all within a year and
- 1:21Speaker 1: a half, and Nat freaking made it so everyone was like,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I'm not up there. It's too much Star Wars for me.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It's too much Star Wars. But listen, listen. If that
- 1:32Speaker 1: would have if that were the Force Awakens, Let's say,
- 1:34Speaker 1: how about this, now, I'm not gonna go down to wormhole.
- 1:39Speaker 1: What if that was one of the if that was
- 1:41Speaker 1: one of the first television shows. Let's say that was
- 1:44Speaker 1: what The Mandalorian was. If Solo was what the Mandalorian was.
- 1:47Speaker 1: When it came on, everybody and it and and and
- 1:50Speaker 1: they were like, look, we're not gonna make it a movie.
- 1:52Speaker 1: We're just gonna make it a television show. We're gonna
- 1:54Speaker 1: do nine episodes of Solo. And the first episode was
- 1:58Speaker 1: the movie that we saw. Everybody would be losing them
- 2:01Speaker 1: mind on how great Solo was. So don't get me
- 2:03Speaker 1: the bullshit. It was just too much Star Wars. Okay
- 2:07Speaker 1: for our own podcast, Yeah, exactly. And I also think
- 2:10Speaker 1: anytime a directors are replaced with a new director, and
- 2:13Speaker 1: that director comes in and has to sort of start
- 2:16Speaker 1: from whatever point he's starting. I mean, it's kind of
- 2:18Speaker 1: a recipe for a disaster. It's two different movies. There's
- 2:23Speaker 1: the there's the Christ and Film movie, and then there's
- 2:26Speaker 1: the Ron Horward movie. I would have really liked have
- 2:28Speaker 1: seen the Christ And Film movie because they're they're funny dudes.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But but but I guess my my assumption was always that
- 2:34Speaker 1: they must have gone off too far in there in
- 2:38Speaker 1: their own direction. And Kathleen Kennedy, the woman who you
- 2:41Speaker 1: can't recognize from her identical twin, probably thought like, Hey,
- 2:45Speaker 1: that's not the tone of this. What are you guys doing.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know what I made that up.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I made that up in my head, Joel. But it
- 2:51Speaker 1: doesn't that sound like it's realistic. I'm very curious to
- 2:55Speaker 1: know the real story of what all went down. I've
- 2:57Speaker 1: heard a lot, a lot of rumors, but there's there's
- 3:01Speaker 1: nothing convaried. Everyone's being very tight lipped as of now.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think it's a story will hear more about in
- 3:06Speaker 1: five or ten years? Well, I think yeah, one day. Yes.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Everybody's so excited for the Snyder DC cut and everything
- 3:13Speaker 1: like that, is it really going to be better than
- 3:14Speaker 1: the Justice League movie? Though? I don't know, but all
- 3:18Speaker 1: I can tell you is this, I'm just asking out there.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Joel nodded her head like I don't know. Dan nodded
- 3:24Speaker 1: his head like I don't know. But everybody bought whatever
- 3:27Speaker 1: the HBO Max. Is that what it is? Yeah? Yeah,
- 3:30Speaker 1: you have to buy HBO Max? Or is it? If
- 3:32Speaker 1: you have you have Hbo? Do you just get HBO Max?
- 3:35Speaker 1: You can actually answer this question. If you have a subscription,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you do not need to buy it. You can use
- 3:40Speaker 1: your can log in like your you're yeah, like if
- 3:42Speaker 1: I have it through if I have it through my
- 3:44Speaker 1: cable or whatever, I have it, Okay. But if you
- 3:46Speaker 1: don't have it and you're like, I'd rather just pay
- 3:48Speaker 1: like ten dollars and have the HBO streaming experience, you
- 3:50Speaker 1: can do that as well, and it's totally worth it.
- 3:52Speaker 1: There's so much content. And when does the Snyder cut drop?
- 3:57Speaker 1: That is a Google question. Let me find out, ding
- 4:00Speaker 1: And how are you a day? How are you? Well?
- 4:04Speaker 1: I'm you know, doing it the best I can. California
- 4:06Speaker 1: just reached reached number one in the US with Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 1: congrats everybody, congrats we did. We did a thunderous applause, Dan, No,
- 4:15Speaker 1: how about instead of thunderou applause, Dan, you just do
- 4:17Speaker 1: thunderous booing. Yeah, jeers, Dan, jeers. We did work, good work,
- 4:25Speaker 1: did it? Good work, La, good work, California. We are
- 4:29Speaker 1: the worst, dude. We're gonna be making movies and Stad
- 4:34Speaker 1: nobody's gonna make anything here. Well, you know it's okay, though,
- 4:38Speaker 1: it's okay. We had it coming. We were so freaking
- 4:40Speaker 1: and this is Canada's chance, you know, how like if
- 4:43Speaker 1: we're in pole position for production and Canada's like, oh shit,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and now you can hold in the cars they take
- 4:49Speaker 1: it on the turn and then they make a move
- 4:51Speaker 1: on turns. Yeah, this is Canada's chance to come in.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Just steal all the US production. Good luck. They can
- 4:57Speaker 1: do it right now. You can do it right now,
- 5:00Speaker 1: right now, Canada. You need to make the incentives even
- 5:03Speaker 1: bigger and bam, it's over. Just don't tax us, just
- 5:08Speaker 1: don't tax us. Everyone will come. Do you know that
- 5:11Speaker 1: the film industry started in my in my hometown, well,
- 5:14Speaker 1: my home neighborhood of well Edison's Black Mariah, where he
- 5:20Speaker 1: was making the very first films was in West Orange,
- 5:25Speaker 1: New Jersey. That's where his laboratory and where he did
- 5:28Speaker 1: all his work was. You can actually go there. It's
- 5:30Speaker 1: a museum. And the Black Mariah was his first sound stage.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys know this trivia and
- 5:36Speaker 1: the Black Mariah was a rectangle or square that sat
- 5:40Speaker 1: on a giant circular track and so it could spin.
- 5:44Speaker 1: It had a sunroof and it would spin to find
- 5:46Speaker 1: the light because Edison needed so much light to make
- 5:49Speaker 1: these films that the roof would open and the whole
- 5:52Speaker 1: thing would rotate three hundred and sixty degrees to find
- 5:55Speaker 1: the sun. And so the movie industry begins and it's like,
- 5:59Speaker 1: holy shit, this is a thing. And then someone goes,
- 6:01Speaker 1: why are we doing this in New Jersey? Why don't
- 6:04Speaker 1: we do this where the sun is always out and
- 6:07Speaker 1: it's always seventy five degrees and it's always sunny, and
- 6:10Speaker 1: we don't have to We can do whatever the how
- 6:12Speaker 1: we want. And that's how this song all the leaders,
- 6:15Speaker 1: all the leaves are brown, and the sky is great,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and this guy's great California Canyfunia tree on a way Tuesday.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Well that was that was a beautiful condition that was
- 6:31Speaker 1: written a few years later in the sixties. Okay, but
- 6:37Speaker 1: that's about living in Laurel Canyon, and I think right
- 6:41Speaker 1: being there's a great documentary on the Laurel Canyon music scene.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I highly It's called Laurel Canyon, I believe, and it's
- 6:49Speaker 1: on epics UM and there's a two parter and it's
- 6:53Speaker 1: about the music scene in the sixties and the seventies
- 6:56Speaker 1: and Laurel Canyon, and it's just fucking great if you
- 7:00Speaker 1: love music and music documentaries. I do love music and
- 7:03Speaker 1: I do. How are you, man? It's I'm good. Heather
- 7:05Speaker 1: Locklear's here today. That's a thing that's amazing. First, is
- 7:08Speaker 1: she here, Dan, Joel? Is she in the waiting room?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Probably we should probably get into this shathering. Nobody leaves
- 7:14Speaker 1: Heather in the corner. Only Heather in the corner. I'm nervous.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Can I be honest with you that I'm I'm nervous too.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you. Yes, I knew that
- 7:22Speaker 1: we had a guest, and I knew that it was
- 7:26Speaker 1: someone of importance. Yes I did not. I'm afraid I
- 7:31Speaker 1: did not know the magnitude of the guests this week.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I did you not know that it was Heather Locklear.
- 7:35Speaker 1: She's the only star in the episode that would that
- 7:38Speaker 1: we would ask. I mean, who did you think it
- 7:40Speaker 1: might be besides Heather Locklear? I thought it was Shay
- 7:43Speaker 1: because this is such an important episode. Also, no Shay
- 7:46Speaker 1: or specifically requested his story, which I believe is the
- 7:50Speaker 1: episode Johnny C voiceovers, Okay, so I think that's one
- 7:54Speaker 1: of Shay's favorites. So he said, Shay, you pick because
- 7:58Speaker 1: this is such an important story in the whole you know,
- 8:02Speaker 1: Scrubs thing. This episode is so important. I never imagine
- 8:06Speaker 1: in my whole life that I would ever be in
- 8:09Speaker 1: a position to keep Heather lockle You're winning. Let's not
- 8:12Speaker 1: doing it before, let's end stop it six seven eight
- 8:15Speaker 1: stories about show we made about a bunch of docs
- 8:21Speaker 1: and nurses, and Can said, he's the stories. So gather
- 8:30Speaker 1: around you. Here are yeado around you? Here? Heather? Can
- 8:40Speaker 1: you here? We go? I got so excited. My dogs
- 8:49Speaker 1: are all barking. Now, hey, shut up, I'm talking to
- 8:52Speaker 1: Heather Locklear. How are you guys? Hi, Heather, we are
- 8:57Speaker 1: so excited you're doing this. We're very deep, saying Donald,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you look like you're in a closet with clothes. What's
- 9:06Speaker 1: going on? Where are he is in a closet with
- 9:10Speaker 1: clothes that you nailed it? This is my closet. I
- 9:14Speaker 1: share it with my wife. I was hoping because there's
- 9:17Speaker 1: some nice thing. Yeah, put something up, something else up,
- 9:22Speaker 1: because it was just my golf shirts and stuff. She
- 9:23Speaker 1: would like, that's ugly to look at. Let me put
- 9:26Speaker 1: Let me put Oh you didn't tell me that those
- 9:27Speaker 1: dresses were up as background designed by Casey. I thought
- 9:30Speaker 1: that they were outfit she might be wearing soon. Now
- 9:32Speaker 1: you're telling me that Donald might be or Donald might
- 9:34Speaker 1: be wearing. But you're now you're saying that Casey didn't
- 9:36Speaker 1: like the look of the closet on the and decorated
- 9:39Speaker 1: a little bit. Yeah, she put up. She put up
- 9:41Speaker 1: something so that the backdrop was a little different. Move
- 9:43Speaker 1: the camera a little bit. Is so, Zach, you're all
- 9:46Speaker 1: happening there? That? Yes, Heather, I I, well, Donald has
- 9:50Speaker 1: Donald has two young children, and so he kind of
- 9:53Speaker 1: has to hide out in his walking closet to do
- 9:55Speaker 1: this here. I put my dog out with my boyfriend
- 9:59Speaker 1: because he would ark and be all over and and
- 10:02Speaker 1: my daughter just left Donald. I have to say, she
- 10:04Speaker 1: just wanted to say that she has a crush on you.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I don't think she. Yeah, I don't think she ever
- 10:09Speaker 1: saw it Scrubs but she I don't think she was alive.
- 10:12Speaker 1: But I think she saw Uptown Girls together. Right, we were.
- 10:18Speaker 1: We've been talking about this now, we have so much
- 10:20Speaker 1: to ask you. But wait, since you brought it up,
- 10:22Speaker 1: let's start with Uptown Girls. Donald's told us a lot
- 10:24Speaker 1: of fun memories of making that movie. Howther did you
- 10:26Speaker 1: have a good time making that movie? No, he had
- 10:27Speaker 1: good friends with the co stars. He really didn't talk
- 10:30Speaker 1: to me. I think we had one night out. Yeah.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He was really sweet, but he had He was very
- 10:34Speaker 1: much in a group, and I was the old lady
- 10:36Speaker 1: of everything. So I was like, Okay, that's not it
- 10:38Speaker 1: at all. Donald, Were you too cool for school? Sovous?
- 10:43Speaker 1: I was so unrvous? Yes I was, he was? He was?
- 10:47Speaker 1: He was, trust me. I was. That's so sweet. We
- 10:51Speaker 1: had we I think we had one, yeah, just one
- 10:54Speaker 1: night out, right, that was it. It was one long night,
- 10:57Speaker 1: long night in a line or something. Yeah, yeah, but
- 11:01Speaker 1: if yeah, that was it. Fun time. I enjoyed making
- 11:05Speaker 1: that movie. I enjoyed being in that city in the summertime.
- 11:08Speaker 1: That was so cool. I know. I was like, I'll
- 11:10Speaker 1: all go to New York. That's great. It's so rare
- 11:12Speaker 1: when someone actually lets you shoot in Manhattan these days
- 11:15Speaker 1: or even those days. So when someone's like it's a
- 11:17Speaker 1: movie and you're like, okay, I like the script, they're like,
- 11:19Speaker 1: and it's shooting in Vancouver. Yeah, exactly, exactly right, that's
- 11:23Speaker 1: how it always. We were just saying that how Vancouver
- 11:26Speaker 1: has an opportunity right now, right this mo yeah us right,
- 11:30Speaker 1: but they could snatch up all the work. I know.
- 11:32Speaker 1: We just said that before you, before you came on,
- 11:34Speaker 1: and Heather, we were saying that Canada is in a
- 11:36Speaker 1: position since the since COVID is just devouring Los Angeles
- 11:40Speaker 1: to steal production once and for all. Oh for sure, yeah,
- 11:44Speaker 1: just not with us. Yeah we're not allowed in, but
- 11:47Speaker 1: maybe one day to let us in. Maybe one day
- 11:49Speaker 1: to let us in. We never really wanted to go
- 11:51Speaker 1: to Canada so much, I know, and now and now
- 11:55Speaker 1: it's exact. It's exactly like like life when someone's like,
- 11:58Speaker 1: now we don't now you know. Now we're all like,
- 12:00Speaker 1: please let us in, please let be let us be
- 12:02Speaker 1: in a relationship with you, right exactly, Heather, I was
- 12:06Speaker 1: just looking at your IMDb, and an actor could only
- 12:10Speaker 1: dream to have had the length of a career you've had.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I mean you have. I can't. I I donald and
- 12:16Speaker 1: I can only hope that that we have a fraction
- 12:19Speaker 1: of the success you've had over your life. Oh you
- 12:21Speaker 1: already do No, No, no, you're started. No, you started right.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I'm older than you. Well, I'm older than you. Have
- 12:27Speaker 1: time to catch up. You have a smigels. But but
- 12:30Speaker 1: you started very young. And now is it true that
- 12:32Speaker 1: I was just looking? What was the was chips? Your
- 12:35Speaker 1: very first job, That's what I says. It was my
- 12:37Speaker 1: first job. My first line, make them stop, please make
- 12:40Speaker 1: them stop? Wow. I remember that was good. I would
- 12:46Speaker 1: It was actually a group of motorcycle riders throwing a
- 12:50Speaker 1: girl up in a blanket. I don't know if it
- 12:52Speaker 1: was me or someone else, but I remember for the audition,
- 12:55Speaker 1: I was always nervous and um for the audition. I
- 12:58Speaker 1: heard the girl before me say make them so please
- 13:01Speaker 1: make them stuck, and I'm like, oh, that's the way
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm supposed to do it. So I copied her. You
- 13:09Speaker 1: stole her line reading I'm gonna try that. I did.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I was Yeah, it was very good. So wait, why
- 13:14Speaker 1: so these motorcycle man, I just want to catch the scene.
- 13:16Speaker 1: They have a teenage girl in a blanket and they're
- 13:18Speaker 1: throwing I think there's two of us and um and
- 13:22Speaker 1: I think, yeah, they might be throwing the other girl
- 13:24Speaker 1: up in a blanket and there she's so terrified of
- 13:27Speaker 1: these guys and I'm screaming, make them stop. I don't
- 13:30Speaker 1: know who I'm screaming to. Probably probably to punch, Yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 1: probably to punch your job. I hope it was John
- 13:36Speaker 1: and Punch that came to your rescue. Yeah, it's like
- 13:39Speaker 1: if you're on if you're on Chips and like your
- 13:41Speaker 1: storyline didn't involve Punch or John point ye. I wonder
- 13:49Speaker 1: if that happen with us, like people like you know, Heather,
- 13:52Speaker 1: you got to do two episodes and you got to
- 13:54Speaker 1: interact with almost everyone. Yeah, I'd be funny if you
- 13:58Speaker 1: came to do a show that was popular and like,
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know, your storyline didn't include any of the lead
- 14:02Speaker 1: carrect can you imagine You're like, oh, it's that's well. Oh,
- 14:05Speaker 1: actually there was something I did. I did the First
- 14:08Speaker 1: Wives Club, and um, there was a couple of scenes
- 14:12Speaker 1: and there was there was a couple of scenes that
- 14:14Speaker 1: they cut out of me, and then the only scene
- 14:16Speaker 1: that I had at no lines, and one of the
- 14:18Speaker 1: actors were at a funeral and he's supposed to take
- 14:21Speaker 1: his hand and touch my breast and they show that
- 14:24Speaker 1: and he actually touched more than It was kind of
- 14:28Speaker 1: a gross and so I said, can you just take
- 14:31Speaker 1: my name off the credit since now I don't have
- 14:33Speaker 1: any lines or and you know, I saw everyone from Afar,
- 14:36Speaker 1: so it was credit less. So wait, you're in the
- 14:38Speaker 1: First Wives Club and the only thing that happens is
- 14:40Speaker 1: a man grabs your breasts. He doesn't grab it, he
- 14:43Speaker 1: actually outlines my areo low with his finger. I didn't
- 14:46Speaker 1: didn't say that in the script. I was like, I'm
- 14:49Speaker 1: so glad they're following his hand down because my face,
- 14:52Speaker 1: my mouth is fallen open and I can't believe it.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And don't do it again. Just one take and let's go.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Oh my god. Yeah, you know, I you know, I've
- 15:00Speaker 1: never asked someone this, but it's just it must be.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's a it's a blessing because you're such a stunning
- 15:06Speaker 1: woman and always have been a sex I think it's
- 15:08Speaker 1: safe to say you were a sex symbol because you
- 15:11Speaker 1: are you are and were okay, no, you were in
- 15:14Speaker 1: art and uh, is it ever? Because Donald and I
- 15:17Speaker 1: never faced this problem and we're not sex symbols, But
- 15:20Speaker 1: I mean, did you ever feel like did you feel
- 15:23Speaker 1: like did you did you sometimes feel like guys like
- 15:26Speaker 1: I don't I want to do the part, but I
- 15:27Speaker 1: don't want to do that that random sex scene with
- 15:29Speaker 1: that guy, Like does that have to be in there?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Does that come up? Well, it wasn't really. We were
- 15:33Speaker 1: at we were in a funeral. We were on the
- 15:34Speaker 1: benches at the church. Yeah, so it was and so
- 15:38Speaker 1: there was more to the part. And I had feeling
- 15:40Speaker 1: the bigger, bigger scenes, and that's they just thought they
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe I was bad in it, and
- 15:45Speaker 1: they went, let's just put that. I doubt it. You're
- 15:47Speaker 1: one of the viewer. You're one of the very few people.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You're one of the very people that we were talking
- 15:53Speaker 1: about you because you're one of the very few people
- 15:54Speaker 1: that was on two it hit shows at the same time,
- 15:57Speaker 1: right right, that was very cool. I tell us about
- 15:59Speaker 1: that you were doing you were doing Dynasty, Dynasty and
- 16:03Speaker 1: and t J Hooker. First, I could how opposite can
- 16:07Speaker 1: you be? Um? And Dynasty. I think they let me
- 16:11Speaker 1: go because they were letting someone else go and I'm like, okay,
- 16:14Speaker 1: So then I got this other job, t J. Hooker,
- 16:16Speaker 1: and then they brought me back. So um, you know
- 16:19Speaker 1: I would we work week here in a couple days
- 16:22Speaker 1: on Dynasty and it was no big deal. I wasn't
- 16:24Speaker 1: the main purse character, so it's only out a few
- 16:26Speaker 1: lines in each thing. It wasn't tough at all. It
- 16:28Speaker 1: was a big deal because that doesn't ever happen to anybody. Yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 1: with two different networks, with a two different networks. Now
- 16:34Speaker 1: it was ABC and it was they were both spelling
- 16:37Speaker 1: o that. Yeah. Sure did love Heather Locklear. He sure did.
- 16:43Speaker 1: And then he passed away. And then I'm like, jobless,
- 16:47Speaker 1: don't say that. Don't say you listen to Bill Bill
- 16:51Speaker 1: Lawrence Lear Well, I did Spin City and I'm not
- 16:56Speaker 1: sure if he was writing on it then or not.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I'm not sure what the thing was. Maybe he left,
- 17:01Speaker 1: but I think he might have created it. Is that
- 17:02Speaker 1: true or not? Yes, he created the show, and I'm
- 17:05Speaker 1: sure if he wasn't writing that, he obviously thought you
- 17:08Speaker 1: were very funny something. Yeah, but he also you know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: Bill is a very one thing about our friends. He's
- 17:14Speaker 1: very loyal and when he likes people, he likes to
- 17:18Speaker 1: work with them over and over again. So even if
- 17:19Speaker 1: he wasn't writing the show at the time, the fact
- 17:22Speaker 1: that you were on the show means he was like, oh,
- 17:24Speaker 1: you know, he's obviously seen your work and thought, oh,
- 17:27Speaker 1: she's so funny, she's so beautiful. And well I befriended
- 17:30Speaker 1: his wife, and so now I get Christmas cards. Oh
- 17:34Speaker 1: that's the way in. That's the way that is. It's
- 17:37Speaker 1: always the wife. Chris. What was t J. Hooker like,
- 17:40Speaker 1: because we always hear all these Shatner stories, mostly from
- 17:43Speaker 1: Star Trek, but but you knew like Shatner, I mean,
- 17:46Speaker 1: this is a long time ago. Well, he was very
- 17:49Speaker 1: intimidating to me, and he's like, when you stop speaking, saying,
- 17:53Speaker 1: you know, like you can't think for any lines, kind
- 17:55Speaker 1: of like on your Sean scrubs, you can't think, you
- 17:57Speaker 1: can't go hum, I mean you do, you guys do?
- 18:00Speaker 1: Then you have that bubble where you're doing something else.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But he would say, if you stop speaking and take
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna start, I'm gonna jump in. So I'm like baa.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And it was always like license plate numbers. I'd have
- 18:11Speaker 1: to remember, oh, license plate blah blah blah, blah blah,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and this and blah blah. And they'd have different fifty
- 18:15Speaker 1: different characters in one show, and so I was just
- 18:17Speaker 1: delivering them boring information and it made me so nervous.
- 18:20Speaker 1: So and he'd look at me and stare and wait,
- 18:23Speaker 1: and I'd go and he jumped in and that was
- 18:27Speaker 1: about it. He is very intimate. He's Captain Kirk. I
- 18:30Speaker 1: can understand why he's well, I didn't ever see those shows.
- 18:34Speaker 1: So he was the William shat even at the last
- 18:37Speaker 1: even at the time, Heather, were you curious to not
- 18:39Speaker 1: to go back and see, like, oh, let me see
- 18:40Speaker 1: what this was? This guy's the lure of Shatner. Yes,
- 18:44Speaker 1: I did. I could see the allure. He's very charming. Um.
- 18:48Speaker 1: But he's very and he's very funny and very dry. UM.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I ended up doing a Boston Legal with him and
- 18:55Speaker 1: that was fun. And I was a little older more
- 18:58Speaker 1: it seemed closer to his age than I was eighteen
- 19:01Speaker 1: um and brand new. Um. But he and then I
- 19:05Speaker 1: remember going I think I don't maybe it was Nobu
- 19:08Speaker 1: and um I it was he and his wife and
- 19:13Speaker 1: we went to some place where you throw the braws
- 19:15Speaker 1: off and you put him on the ceiling something like
- 19:19Speaker 1: something similar, something similar. I don't think it was that,
- 19:22Speaker 1: but it was another place and I was on the
- 19:25Speaker 1: bar and I go, should I take it off? And
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm thinking he's probably going, why are you asking me?
- 19:29Speaker 1: And he said sure, and I took it off and
- 19:31Speaker 1: it's left there somewhere. Um, he's like, why why asking me? Right? Um? Uh?
- 19:42Speaker 1: What's his name? On a Seinfeld? The little guy who Yes,
- 19:48Speaker 1: So he is a huge fan of William Shatters And
- 19:51Speaker 1: if you watch, he goes, tell me what schatters like,
- 19:53Speaker 1: tell me what he's like. And I'm like, well, sometimes
- 19:56Speaker 1: he's an asshole, and um, sometimes he's not. But I'm
- 20:00Speaker 1: He's like, oh I got and I didn't want to,
- 20:01Speaker 1: you know, say anything there. I mean, there's nothing wrong
- 20:03Speaker 1: with William Bill but um, so you if you go
- 20:07Speaker 1: back and watch, you'll see his cadence is similar to
- 20:10Speaker 1: William Shatner's. Really he was Jerry, Now you have to
- 20:14Speaker 1: look at it differently. Yeah, coming over, Yeah, coming over, Jerry, exactly,
- 20:22Speaker 1: point the phasers at the Wow. This is gonna blow
- 20:25Speaker 1: people's minds. So Jason Alexander was such a big fan
- 20:29Speaker 1: of William Shatner that if you listen to his cadence,
- 20:31Speaker 1: some of it is in the spirit of that unique
- 20:33Speaker 1: Shatner cadence. Exactly. I want to meet the person. I
- 20:39Speaker 1: want to meet the person who's a fan like like
- 20:41Speaker 1: it's such a fan of like Christopher Walking and tries
- 20:43Speaker 1: to steal his cadence. That's the hardest cadence I've ever
- 20:46Speaker 1: heard in my life. That is the toughest. I feel
- 20:48Speaker 1: at home speaking right seeing of wait, by the way,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you do a great um Jimmy crack corn of Neil
- 20:58Speaker 1: dim I had. It's stuck in my head. I don't care.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Only that is the only impersonation that I can do
- 21:07Speaker 1: that's actually close to it. It's it's it's it's only
- 21:12Speaker 1: because when I was a kid, I used to watch
- 21:14Speaker 1: you know, Transformers and and g I Joe after school
- 21:20Speaker 1: on you know WPI X, and they would always in
- 21:23Speaker 1: between the shows that they would play a commercial for
- 21:26Speaker 1: Neil Diamond's greatest hits, Oh my gosh, and I could
- 21:30Speaker 1: only get the first few lines. I don't I've never
- 21:33Speaker 1: owned a Neil Diamond record. I've never been to a
- 21:36Speaker 1: Neil Diamond concert. I've never seen a Neil Diamond movie.
- 21:40Speaker 1: All I know is that he sang a bunch of
- 21:43Speaker 1: songs and they went like turn on your hard light,
- 21:46Speaker 1: a very good let it shine wherever you go around
- 21:53Speaker 1: the world rocks. Oh my surprise. Now it's the only
- 22:04Speaker 1: all the years I've known him, Heather, it's the only
- 22:06Speaker 1: impression he does. Well. Yeah, like they tried to get
- 22:09Speaker 1: me to do Aaron Nebble, I can't. That's great, that's
- 22:25Speaker 1: all we got. Now. I'm guessing Jimmy krack Corn is
- 22:28Speaker 1: probably a public domain song. I'm guessing because they didn't.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Maybe that's why we chose it because we didn't have
- 22:35Speaker 1: to pay for it. But all the songs in this episode, Heather, sometimes,
- 22:40Speaker 1: now that these shows are all streaming, some of the
- 22:42Speaker 1: songs had to be replaced because the contracts they signed
- 22:45Speaker 1: for the original show didn't extend to streaming. So, uh,
- 22:49Speaker 1: this episode I thought really suffered because there was some
- 22:52Speaker 1: good music in this episode that is all gone. I
- 22:54Speaker 1: don't know if you guys live. Yeah, I did watch,
- 22:58Speaker 1: but I didn't well the end to Nellie song right,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and that was not the song. If you want to
- 23:03Speaker 1: go and take a rap with me might yeah, and
- 23:13Speaker 1: then wow, but I just wanted to say that the
- 23:16Speaker 1: show ends and it's supposed to be like we're on
- 23:18Speaker 1: a rooftop and in downtown LA, and it's it's like
- 23:21Speaker 1: and then I was really I was really noticing that
- 23:24Speaker 1: that song whatever they replace the song, well, was someone
- 23:28Speaker 1: that went in. I think it was Randall did Spin City. Yeah,
- 23:36Speaker 1: well he he told Donald and I that he was
- 23:38Speaker 1: the one who had to oversee someone going, hey, we
- 23:41Speaker 1: got to f fill in these slots, and so I
- 23:43Speaker 1: don't know, they're not nearly as good, but I guess
- 23:45Speaker 1: if you have the DVDs, you're the only person with
- 23:48Speaker 1: the real all the real original music. But we we
- 23:50Speaker 1: usually I think I do. Should we get into the recap?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Let's get into the recap because we've got the how
- 23:55Speaker 1: they're Lockley, you're here? Um, JANEA. Bachin wrote this episode.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I mean, do you want me to do that thirty
- 24:01Speaker 1: minute recap? Oh? Sorry, thirty minutes? Sorry, I forgot Heather. Um,
- 24:08Speaker 1: we have a new thing there, Donald, it's not new anymore,
- 24:11Speaker 1: but we keep forgetting it. But Zach keeps forgetting about it.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I love it. I know why I forget about it.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I love it. I don't know either. Listen, it's anxiety
- 24:18Speaker 1: for me. I freaking sit down and I really think
- 24:21Speaker 1: about it, and sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. That's
- 24:24Speaker 1: how it goes anyway, Heather, he is going to sum
- 24:27Speaker 1: up the whole episode in thirty seconds, and then together
- 24:30Speaker 1: we'll go through and really parse it all out. But
- 24:32Speaker 1: now I can stop, watch out, hold on Donald. Okay, listen,
- 24:35Speaker 1: this might be a little bit longer than thirty seconds,
- 24:37Speaker 1: but I really like it when you at least try
- 24:39Speaker 1: to get thirty sets. But then I might miss out
- 24:41Speaker 1: on things and stutter over my words because I'm so nervous.
- 24:44Speaker 1: This is this is very nervouacking. But here we go, Marks,
- 24:48Speaker 1: get set go. This episode's about a bunch of things,
- 24:51Speaker 1: but mostly it's about double standards. Turke and jd are
- 24:54Speaker 1: fine if they robbed the hospital, but not each other.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Con hates his hates the fact that his girlfriend had baggage,
- 25:00Speaker 1: but winds up having his own. Elliott loves the perks
- 25:03Speaker 1: of having Daddy take care of everything, but longs to
- 25:06Speaker 1: make her own career decisions. This is an important episode
- 25:09Speaker 1: because at the end, all of them are moving forward
- 25:12Speaker 1: in their personal lives Turken Caller. At the next level
- 25:15Speaker 1: of their relationship, Jordan and Cox are going to start
- 25:18Speaker 1: a family, Elliott is stepping away from her comfort zone,
- 25:22Speaker 1: and the hospital is becoming more of a backdrop, meaning
- 25:25Speaker 1: this is a sneak peak of what's to come. Oh shit,
- 25:28Speaker 1: all right, that was amazing. It was amazing. It was
- 25:30Speaker 1: thirty nine seconds. So in some ways you failed. But
- 25:33Speaker 1: let me tell you how. You listen, let me tell
- 25:35Speaker 1: you how didn't give a I don't care. I don't
- 25:37Speaker 1: care if I feel it anymore. I don't care because
- 25:40Speaker 1: it could be I'll do a minute one next time.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I want to give you a genuine compliment. Do a
- 25:45Speaker 1: minute one next time. I want to give you a
- 25:48Speaker 1: genuine compliment. Donald, that was real, not no bullshit. That
- 25:52Speaker 1: was a very good summary, and you actually highlighted things
- 25:55Speaker 1: that I didn't even see. I saw what you're saying
- 25:58Speaker 1: in terms of the episode being um being about new
- 26:02Speaker 1: chapters in a sense, but I didn't think of it
- 26:04Speaker 1: in the macro like, oh, this is a shift in
- 26:07Speaker 1: in in the show in that we tease the marriage,
- 26:11Speaker 1: We tease Johnny C and Christa getting back together. Um,
- 26:16Speaker 1: we tease Elliott going off on her own. Right, Elliott
- 26:19Speaker 1: is separating from her parents, and and and and being
- 26:21Speaker 1: financially independent, and JD realizing he's about to be in
- 26:24Speaker 1: limbo at the end of the episode, right j JD
- 26:27Speaker 1: nervous about losing his best friend because Carlos says the
- 26:30Speaker 1: word we about Turk and her and and he's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 26:34Speaker 1: what's happening here? Am I gonna lose my best friend?
- 26:36Speaker 1: So my point is that was very good because your
- 26:40Speaker 1: your summary was not just hey, here are the facts.
- 26:43Speaker 1: It had some insight into it. I will gladly give
- 26:46Speaker 1: up those nine seconds of failure appreciate the insight. So
- 26:49Speaker 1: that thunders applause Dan, thunders applause Dan, Dan, I'm going
- 26:53Speaker 1: to approve that thunderous applause. Second, I wonder if we
- 26:57Speaker 1: should make it so when we add these thunder supplause
- 27:00Speaker 1: sound of x if if we both need to improve
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's like it's like, you know, in the Nuclear Code
- 27:05Speaker 1: where they both have to turn their key. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 1: That's my favorite part of Superman of three with Richard
- 27:12Speaker 1: Pryor in it, where he's pretending he's drunk and he
- 27:15Speaker 1: has to put the keys in at the same time,
- 27:17Speaker 1: and he makes he makes a little uh, not a concoction,
- 27:20Speaker 1: but like a little uh levy using another person. If
- 27:24Speaker 1: you ever go to the opportunity, what about the beginning
- 27:26Speaker 1: of war games? What about the beginning of war games
- 27:27Speaker 1: when they go turn your key, sir put the turn
- 27:30Speaker 1: your key and he puts his gun. Yeah, oh that
- 27:32Speaker 1: was a great scene. Love it. Sorry, Heather, we sometimes
- 27:36Speaker 1: have trouble staying on to love me. Thanks to look
- 27:41Speaker 1: for this podcast should be called a digression. That's okay.
- 27:46Speaker 1: It's some people. I see some people on the web.
- 27:48Speaker 1: We're commenting like, I really enjoy it, but they don't
- 27:50Speaker 1: always talk about the episode. I'm like, well, guys, that's
- 27:53Speaker 1: the show. This is the show. That the show, the
- 27:55Speaker 1: show is there, right, the show is this right? We
- 27:59Speaker 1: also have okay, so they all they talk about things
- 28:03Speaker 1: I don't know where Yeah, all right, so um. The
- 28:05Speaker 1: first thing I laughed at out loud was when I
- 28:08Speaker 1: walk in Carla is in the apartment and I pick
- 28:12Speaker 1: up our taxidermy dog to hide my my tidy whities,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and Donald walks and he goes, don't use rowdy to
- 28:18Speaker 1: cover up your giblets. The dialogue is excellent. Weird word
- 28:27Speaker 1: for what A weird word for what? A great word
- 28:30Speaker 1: for grin giblets. I like it giblets. It it sounds
- 28:35Speaker 1: like what what is it? Gizzards? To me? Like, what
- 28:38Speaker 1: are giblets? What are giblets? It's the extra it's the
- 28:41Speaker 1: extra stuff my biscuits. A burning giblets are the stuff
- 28:45Speaker 1: you don't use when you cook a turkey, right, chicken
- 28:49Speaker 1: or chi whatever? I don't know. I thought take it
- 28:51Speaker 1: out that I don't know. That culinary term for edible
- 28:56Speaker 1: awful of a foul a, typically includes the heart, the
- 29:00Speaker 1: actual gizzards, liver, and other organs. There you go, I
- 29:04Speaker 1: know what those other ones are. Yeah, yeah, No one
- 29:09Speaker 1: cooks chicken penis. It might be a delicacy somewhere about
- 29:15Speaker 1: to say, you never know. You never know either do
- 29:19Speaker 1: you like eating weird stuff or or are you conservatively
- 29:23Speaker 1: you're you know, no, I eat like what's weird giblets?
- 29:27Speaker 1: I don't. I'm not saying eat giblets, but like to
- 29:29Speaker 1: eat like, you know, when you're out and about and
- 29:32Speaker 1: someone says, oh, tried this weird food. Do you do
- 29:34Speaker 1: you do that? Because I normally don't, I'm like, no,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna have you ever had have you ever had snails? No,
- 29:38Speaker 1: I've never had a cargo I have. That's good, but no,
- 29:42Speaker 1: I usually ask for someone else to taste it first
- 29:45Speaker 1: and look at their face. Donald, Donald, are you an
- 29:50Speaker 1: adventurous I don't think you don't you like what you like.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I don't around with food, man, but you like sushi.
- 29:57Speaker 1: I do like sushi, and I like Let's And texture
- 30:00Speaker 1: is a big deal for me. And if I know
- 30:02Speaker 1: what it is and then the texture is what I
- 30:06Speaker 1: imagine it would be like, then I have a problem
- 30:08Speaker 1: with it. Like somebody was like, do you like beef tongue?
- 30:11Speaker 1: And I was like, absolutely not. No. And it's all
- 30:14Speaker 1: because when I was younger, I tried it and my
- 30:17Speaker 1: grandmother made it and I tried it and it tasted
- 30:20Speaker 1: exactly well, it didn't taste like but it felt in
- 30:23Speaker 1: my mouth exactly what I thought a tongue would feel like.
- 30:26Speaker 1: If you can always like, just check your own tongue
- 30:30Speaker 1: and it's probably like that, yeah, exactly what it was
- 30:32Speaker 1: like chewing on my own tongue. And I was like,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'll never ever ever see it in there, and like
- 30:36Speaker 1: the deli counter, they'll be just like a giant beef tongue.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's I don't like that. Those those people eat brains too,
- 30:44Speaker 1: they eat cal brains, right, Yeah, no, I you know,
- 30:47Speaker 1: it's a delicacy in some places. It's like it's like
- 30:49Speaker 1: watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Chilled monkey Brain. Yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 1: as we talked about that movie gave me nightmares. Yeah. Um,
- 30:57Speaker 1: this was a big episode, yeah, from me in particular.
- 31:01Speaker 1: When I look back at it now, it's even bigger.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Ken Winningham, the first black director Scrubs has ever had, yes,
- 31:09Speaker 1: directed this episode. Yeah, I think this is its first
- 31:12Speaker 1: time directing it too. And Ken's a very good director,
- 31:16Speaker 1: and he became one of our regulars because we love
- 31:18Speaker 1: Ken Winningham. He's gone on to direct so many shows.
- 31:21Speaker 1: He's directs pretty much everything. He's directed pretty much everything.
- 31:25Speaker 1: But I remember thinking, I remember thinking about it, Oh
- 31:28Speaker 1: they hired a brother. Okay, Um, so that that was good?
- 31:33Speaker 1: I mean that was that made you feel? Um like
- 31:36Speaker 1: okay about obviously about time, guys, it's like middle of
- 31:38Speaker 1: season two. How about some people of different minorities that
- 31:42Speaker 1: are directing the show? Right? We did, we had had
- 31:45Speaker 1: a had we had a woman, we'd had a couple
- 31:47Speaker 1: of women director already at this point, maybe Gail Mancuso.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I think, yeah, but I mean now and now this
- 31:54Speaker 1: is twenty years later, this is still a big conversation. Yeah,
- 31:58Speaker 1: it's what it is, right and you know, you know,
- 32:00Speaker 1: we've still got to make these moves. But it's it's
- 32:03Speaker 1: it's what it is, and it's time for it's time
- 32:05Speaker 1: to change that. We got to restart coming up soon.
- 32:09Speaker 1: So that's that's uh now now in again, I think
- 32:14Speaker 1: in a in a good way, there's a mandate making
- 32:17Speaker 1: sure people do it's you know, the networks in the studios.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I've really said when when we meet our show alex Sync,
- 32:22Speaker 1: they said, no, we want you know, it isn't It
- 32:24Speaker 1: isn't like oh, you guys can do whatever you want.
- 32:27Speaker 1: It's like, no, we would like a certain amount of
- 32:29Speaker 1: minorities to be represented, we'd like a certain amount of
- 32:31Speaker 1: women to be represented. And I think that that's really
- 32:33Speaker 1: great and only getting better. I agree with you. Let's
- 32:37Speaker 1: go to break, guys, We're gonna go to break and
- 32:40Speaker 1: be right back with Heather Lock. Were anybody um I'm
- 32:52Speaker 1: weeping at two fifty four because doctor Cox I think
- 32:56Speaker 1: winked at me, and that's how happy I am. That
- 32:58Speaker 1: is approve. Were those real tears or did somebody? No? No,
- 33:05Speaker 1: I mean when I'm doing a dramatic thing, I can
- 33:08Speaker 1: get myself there. But in a comedic cart in no way,
- 33:10Speaker 1: am I just gonna start bawling? All right? I want
- 33:12Speaker 1: to ask you, I want to ask you to do it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Can you do that? Can you cry on cue? No? Right,
- 33:17Speaker 1: it's very hard. I mean I want you to tell
- 33:20Speaker 1: the Garden State story, dude, tell the story of Natalie
- 33:23Speaker 1: Portman and tell the story of you. The two different
- 33:25Speaker 1: versions of crying in that movie. Well, Natalie is very
- 33:29Speaker 1: good at that. Natalie Um like some actresses I know.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Can Sarah Chawk's another person I know who can do this,
- 33:35Speaker 1: can kind of go off in the corner for a
- 33:36Speaker 1: minute and get herself into a head place. Yeah, and
- 33:39Speaker 1: then and then do it and cry for me. And
- 33:42Speaker 1: then Garden State she had to do that a lot
- 33:44Speaker 1: because she had some some crying moments for me. I
- 33:49Speaker 1: actually was a blessing in disguise because when there was
- 33:52Speaker 1: a scene in in the in a bathtub, empty bathtub
- 33:55Speaker 1: where we're sitting and I was meant to cry and
- 33:58Speaker 1: I there was a we shot the i'd master shot first,
- 34:01Speaker 1: and and and like I said, just being in that
- 34:03Speaker 1: moment and with such a good actress, and it was
- 34:05Speaker 1: so real. It genuinely happened, and I cried and it
- 34:09Speaker 1: was a powerful moment, except that it was the big
- 34:14Speaker 1: wide master right and um, and the camera wasn't going
- 34:17Speaker 1: to see most of that. It was just sort of
- 34:19Speaker 1: establishing the room. The trick for those of you who
- 34:21Speaker 1: aren't in the entertainment sustry and doing what we do
- 34:23Speaker 1: is now you're gonna to do that over and over
- 34:25Speaker 1: and over again. You're gonna have to do it when
- 34:27Speaker 1: the when the medium shot, you have to do it,
- 34:28Speaker 1: when it's a close up. You're gonna have to do
- 34:30Speaker 1: it when it's over Natalie's shoulder. And for me, that
- 34:33Speaker 1: was close to impossible to just keep being able to
- 34:36Speaker 1: emulate what had happened naturally in the wide shot. But
- 34:39Speaker 1: that's the that's the task of a of an actor,
- 34:42Speaker 1: but for me it was But but I was also directing,
- 34:45Speaker 1: so then I had to go, Okay, this isn't gonna match,
- 34:47Speaker 1: and you know what, maybe it's too much. So I
- 34:51Speaker 1: decided just to just on on the spot, go if
- 34:54Speaker 1: it's not happening naturally. I don't want it to be
- 34:57Speaker 1: this false. So then it became I only shed one
- 35:00Speaker 1: single tear, and then we had a joke about her
- 35:03Speaker 1: collecting it in a little plastic cup. But but so
- 35:07Speaker 1: that that was kind of how I help, because when
- 35:08Speaker 1: I was directing, I felt like, you know, if it's
- 35:10Speaker 1: forced and it's false, and it's weird that I'd rather
- 35:12Speaker 1: not have it even be in the in the show,
- 35:15Speaker 1: is that what you meant to supermedi itself? The exact
- 35:17Speaker 1: story I was talking about. I found that such. I
- 35:19Speaker 1: found that so fascinating. It was like the scene was
- 35:22Speaker 1: supposed to be something else, and you you know, you
- 35:26Speaker 1: blew your wad in the first your first in the yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 1: and now it's and now it's time to do it again,
- 35:35Speaker 1: and it's like, all right, well we're not gonna get that.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And you turned it. You turned the negative into a positive.
- 35:41Speaker 1: And it's actually one of the more powerful scenes in
- 35:44Speaker 1: the movie. Yeah, thank you, thank you, it's pretty great.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Thank you, no, no go you guys. I was going
- 35:50Speaker 1: to say that it's a it's a good lesson for
- 35:53Speaker 1: filmmakers out there. Um, it doesn't have to be related
- 35:57Speaker 1: to tears, but about about adapting. So something happens and
- 36:00Speaker 1: you go and I've had this happen. You know, when
- 36:02Speaker 1: you're directing something, whether it's a music video or a
- 36:04Speaker 1: giant feature film, every day something is going to happen
- 36:07Speaker 1: where you're gonna go, Okay, that's not according to plan.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Is this a blessing in disguise? So for me in
- 36:12Speaker 1: this example Donald's talking about, it was like being able
- 36:15Speaker 1: to cry NonStop for for hours was just not going
- 36:18Speaker 1: to happen. It just wasn't what my head wasn't in
- 36:21Speaker 1: that space. I was also directing the movie and had
- 36:23Speaker 1: so much anxiety going on. So then it was like shifting, Well,
- 36:25Speaker 1: what if it's not that. Maybe maybe bawling like that
- 36:27Speaker 1: is way too much for this character. What if it's if?
- 36:30Speaker 1: What if it's actually a joke that all I can
- 36:32Speaker 1: produce is one tier and we laugh about it. So
- 36:35Speaker 1: sometimes just going with it and coming up with a
- 36:38Speaker 1: new plan on the spot is one of the most
- 36:40Speaker 1: crucial things of being a filmmaker, but also a lot
- 36:45Speaker 1: of blessings in disguise can come out of it. Usually
- 36:48Speaker 1: when I'm in that place, the director says, don't blow
- 36:50Speaker 1: it on this master, we're gonna it's going to be
- 36:53Speaker 1: for a second and then we'll come in and do that.
- 36:55Speaker 1: But I do find what you said. I mean, I
- 36:58Speaker 1: I don't think tears unless it's like for whatever reason
- 37:03Speaker 1: is called for. I think the real moment is when
- 37:05Speaker 1: you're in the moment, and if it comes, it comes,
- 37:07Speaker 1: But usually your face and your heart starts to happen,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and all kinds of stuff happen. It becomes more real.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Rather than showing something and trying to get to show something,
- 37:16Speaker 1: it's whatever else has I agree, it never feels as
- 37:18Speaker 1: good as a pet peeve of mine when you watch
- 37:20Speaker 1: so many movies and TV shows where someone is crying
- 37:23Speaker 1: but there aren't tears coming down their face. Yeah, next
- 37:27Speaker 1: time you watch it a crying scene, notice if the
- 37:29Speaker 1: persons has actual tears in their eyes, because a lot
- 37:33Speaker 1: of times they're scrunging up their face and making the noises,
- 37:36Speaker 1: which is just a huge pet peeve of mine. I
- 37:38Speaker 1: would if the moment, if it's a necessity and the
- 37:41Speaker 1: project needs it, there are there's mental blow in their eyes.
- 37:45Speaker 1: There's all sorts of tricks like if it's mandatory, go
- 37:47Speaker 1: do it, go fake it, but don't don't do the
- 37:50Speaker 1: there's no water in your eyes, crunch up face thing.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I hate that. I feel like Jane Fonda did that
- 37:57Speaker 1: on a Golden Pond or something. She talked about that
- 37:59Speaker 1: she had no tears left or something. I don't remember
- 38:01Speaker 1: something like that, but yeah, I think whatever the real
- 38:05Speaker 1: moment is is, if there's not a tear, yeah, just
- 38:08Speaker 1: don't fake it. Just go Yeah. People have reactions about
- 38:11Speaker 1: stuff and it's no tears come out, of course. And
- 38:14Speaker 1: also sometimes even as a writer, I find myself writing
- 38:16Speaker 1: something where I'll go, you know, in the script, I'll write,
- 38:20Speaker 1: she hears the news and instantly breaks down crying, and
- 38:24Speaker 1: and then you think, in reality, a lot of times
- 38:26Speaker 1: people that doesn't happen at all. You might cry later,
- 38:29Speaker 1: but in the moment of hearing it, you're just fucking dumbfounded.
- 38:32Speaker 1: You're sitting there life like, you know what I mean.
- 38:35Speaker 1: And I have to catch yourself as I have to
- 38:37Speaker 1: catch myself as a writer going be very sparing with
- 38:40Speaker 1: with with with tears direction and yeah, of course, because
- 38:44Speaker 1: that might happen naturally, but also it can get especially
- 38:47Speaker 1: it's tricky when you're writing. I'm one of the things
- 38:49Speaker 1: I'm working on now is this is this drama and
- 38:52Speaker 1: I have to find you have to find those moments
- 38:53Speaker 1: so it doesn't feel like, oh my god, there's all
- 38:55Speaker 1: these these tears and how do you do that when
- 38:59Speaker 1: the stuff you're talking it is very heavy? Well, what
- 39:01Speaker 1: happens in real life? You know? We donald, I just
- 39:04Speaker 1: had a friend die. Of course I cried, but I
- 39:06Speaker 1: got sorry, thank you. But nine times out of ten,
- 39:10Speaker 1: I was more sitting there like this, dumbfounded with my
- 39:12Speaker 1: with my head in my hands and my jaw dropped.
- 39:15Speaker 1: You know, So you gotta you gotta remind yourselves about
- 39:17Speaker 1: what's what's real, what's what's really, what's what's strong, what
- 39:19Speaker 1: really happens. I remember doing a scene for Dynasty. I
- 39:22Speaker 1: don't think I've ever been angry in my life, you know,
- 39:24Speaker 1: in that up to that time, and um, I was angry,
- 39:28Speaker 1: but I'm so angry. I started crying, and uh, I
- 39:32Speaker 1: think they were like, what the festally doing? But that
- 39:35Speaker 1: was a real emotion for where probably just for me,
- 39:38Speaker 1: you know, because being angry and that brought it about.
- 39:40Speaker 1: But they ended up did they use it? Oh good? Yeah?
- 39:43Speaker 1: I love that stuff. I love happy accidents, you know,
- 39:47Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, in the in the comedy world, we
- 39:49Speaker 1: are always you know, it goes without saying you're trying
- 39:51Speaker 1: to keep those moments in. You know, we riffed something,
- 39:53Speaker 1: we think it's funny, but in the drama space too,
- 39:56Speaker 1: you want to be like, oh my god, Heather got
- 39:58Speaker 1: so fucking she started crying. Eureka, that was natural, that
- 40:03Speaker 1: was real, Like keep it like, that's the stuff, that's
- 40:06Speaker 1: the that's the precious things we all stumble into, you know, Yes, yeah,
- 40:09Speaker 1: it's amazing what we started someone was comedically. I can
- 40:13Speaker 1: never do it comedically, so right that Meg Ryan scene
- 40:17Speaker 1: in Freaking when Harry met Sally when he comes over
- 40:21Speaker 1: and she's crying because uh, she's gonna be thirty soon
- 40:26Speaker 1: and he's like when she's like some day and she's crying,
- 40:32Speaker 1: but it's there. That's one of the best scenes ever
- 40:36Speaker 1: in the history of that That that's scene right there.
- 40:39Speaker 1: That was your favorite comedic that's your favorite comedic crying moment? Yeah,
- 40:44Speaker 1: easily one of That is my favorite comedic crying. Sarah
- 40:48Speaker 1: Chuk was good at doing it for real on this
- 40:50Speaker 1: show because she had times, I think even we've talked
- 40:53Speaker 1: about it where she had to be like, you know,
- 40:57Speaker 1: crying pretty much on cute, not even from a dramatic
- 40:59Speaker 1: moment from like from like, yeah, it's pretty hard, I think, Yeah, analgesic. Now,
- 41:06Speaker 1: I didn't know what what an analgesic was. It's aspirin um. Yeah,
- 41:11Speaker 1: but we've always laughed at this joke because your patient
- 41:14Speaker 1: thinks it's anal jesic and puts the pills in his butt.
- 41:20Speaker 1: That's so good. That's a great joke. Yeah, it's great.
- 41:24Speaker 1: It's pronounced analgesic. The pills go in your mouth, sir, Yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 1: no I didn't. I didn't know what that was, did
- 41:30Speaker 1: you don Donald, you didn't know either, right, I don't
- 41:32Speaker 1: know how many people got that joke at the time. Well, no,
- 41:35Speaker 1: the joke isn't that. The joke is actually when you
- 41:38Speaker 1: tell him that it's not your yeah, right, right, Yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 1: who gives a ship? Right exactly? Okay, you're right, you're right,
- 41:45Speaker 1: you're right. Who cares? What it really is? The joke is,
- 41:48Speaker 1: old man, don't put these pills in your as right, exactly?
- 41:53Speaker 1: That guy, I think Donald, if I'm not mistaken, he
- 41:55Speaker 1: was like a regular go to old man we often use.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I've seen all was he in a bunch of episodes.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I've seen him a few times be like the go
- 42:05Speaker 1: to ancient old man. Do you want to ask Wicki?
- 42:10Speaker 1: Or is this something that Wicki's not gonna know that?
- 42:13Speaker 1: And we haven't given him his his funkle pops. Dan,
- 42:14Speaker 1: and those his funk pops behind you there. I didn't
- 42:18Speaker 1: know Dan has his funcle pops right behind him. Dan,
- 42:21Speaker 1: I didn't know if you purchased those for yourself or
- 42:23Speaker 1: if they were for Scrubs wicky guy. I acquired them
- 42:26Speaker 1: so that we could get weight fined as fast as possible. Okay, Heather,
- 42:30Speaker 1: you might want some of these. They're there. You have
- 42:32Speaker 1: a scrub pops. We have a Scrubs Wikipedia type page
- 42:36Speaker 1: where you uh can look up facts on the show.
- 42:42Speaker 1: And so we got the guy who helped curate this
- 42:45Speaker 1: whole thing with a bunch of other people, and he
- 42:48Speaker 1: comes on the show every now and then the answers
- 42:50Speaker 1: questions for us. But he's he's not really into it,
- 42:53Speaker 1: Like he's kind of into it, but he's not really
- 42:55Speaker 1: into it. So we're bribing him. So we're like a
- 42:57Speaker 1: technical advisor kind of guy. What of Yes, that's a
- 43:02Speaker 1: that's a great way to put it. Yeah, that's a
- 43:03Speaker 1: good way of saying it. He's technically advising. He's like
- 43:07Speaker 1: the keeper of the Scrubs Bible. Right, Well, yeah, I
- 43:11Speaker 1: guess so and so, but we got to bribe him
- 43:14Speaker 1: with Funco pops otherwise he doesn't do his job. Well,
- 43:17Speaker 1: that's what oh Heather, Um, they're they kind of look
- 43:21Speaker 1: like bobbleheads. They're they're a very popular thing. Grown up
- 43:24Speaker 1: action figures is what they are. They're action figures from
- 43:27Speaker 1: grown ups. It's kind of like it's kind of like
- 43:30Speaker 1: a bobblehead, but they don't bother. These ones don't babble.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I don't think, right, Dan, these aren't bobble ones. Right,
- 43:37Speaker 1: there are Funco pops that that that bobble We didn't
- 43:41Speaker 1: get those. Okay, that's very cool. So if your daughter
- 43:44Speaker 1: is truly a fan of Donald Baison, um, I know
- 43:48Speaker 1: it's from Uptown Girls, but you could get her a
- 43:50Speaker 1: Donald Vaison Funco pump. You know, her boyfriend would be destroyed,
- 43:54Speaker 1: okay for him, come up, break up, right up. That
- 44:02Speaker 1: would be the coolest thing ever. I could walk around
- 44:04Speaker 1: and say that I broke them up. The craziest thing
- 44:08Speaker 1: is if my daughter wore that dress behind you, Oh
- 44:11Speaker 1: my God, she might like it. Well, my wife would
- 44:14Speaker 1: probably break up with me right now. I like that.
- 44:20Speaker 1: So there's this pressure, as we understand it, for women,
- 44:25Speaker 1: young doctors to go into become ob gyms because they
- 44:29Speaker 1: make a lot of money, I guess. So we have
- 44:32Speaker 1: this thing where the guino girls are are coming after.
- 44:35Speaker 1: That was funny, and then Jad goes into fantasy and
- 44:39Speaker 1: they're having a pillow fight and they start making out
- 44:42Speaker 1: and then he gets interrupted, so he never gets to
- 44:43Speaker 1: see any of the fun sex. And then he tries
- 44:47Speaker 1: to go back into the fantasy and she says, I'm
- 44:50Speaker 1: very glad that we experimented with each other, but I'll
- 44:53Speaker 1: never do it again. That will never happen again. Yeah,
- 44:56Speaker 1: he's missed the whole dreamy fantasy. Yeah. I love the
- 45:00Speaker 1: at that uh that when uh Heather and Cox are
- 45:05Speaker 1: walking through the hallway and she's saying hi to all
- 45:08Speaker 1: the other doctors and everything like that. Yeah, he thinks
- 45:10Speaker 1: she's just flirting and she's like, no, no, no, I
- 45:13Speaker 1: slept with them and right Tyther unabashedly the characters like
- 45:21Speaker 1: he was like thinks, oh, you're bribing them because you're
- 45:23Speaker 1: selling pharmaceuticals. She's like no, no, I just slept with
- 45:25Speaker 1: them exactly like that about her though, she was like, no,
- 45:28Speaker 1: you get to fuck around, like yeah, I bug around. Yeah,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I mean, and that's my motto too. I think that's
- 45:34Speaker 1: I think that's everybody. I think we're starting to gear
- 45:36Speaker 1: into that being everybody's motto now, like that shouldn't be
- 45:39Speaker 1: any stead Like that's what I was saying. This show
- 45:41Speaker 1: is such about it's this episode in particular is about
- 45:44Speaker 1: double standards. You know what I mean, and how to
- 45:47Speaker 1: and how we and how we tackled double standards. This
- 45:49Speaker 1: dude's so bent out of shape, uh that you slept
- 45:53Speaker 1: with guys at the hospital, but he's got a pregnant
- 45:56Speaker 1: lady yea in his back pocket and what I mean.
- 46:00Speaker 1: And it's like, yep, come on now, you can't, you can't.
- 46:02Speaker 1: What's good for these exactly right, exactly, Heather, Did you
- 46:07Speaker 1: have fun working with our with our pal, the legendary
- 46:10Speaker 1: Johnny c McGinley, Because it looks like you guys, you
- 46:12Speaker 1: guys had great chemistry. He was so much fun and
- 46:15Speaker 1: everybody talks so fast on that show. I was like,
- 46:18Speaker 1: oh my god, here I am. Well I'm shotting her again.
- 46:21Speaker 1: But no, I had a great time with him, and yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 1: he was very, very fun. I really adored him. You
- 46:26Speaker 1: guys had such good chemistry together, did so, thanks Yanks?
- 46:30Speaker 1: You did. You had a good You had a good Bansward.
- 46:32Speaker 1: I'm sure Johnny C was excited when Bill was like, oh,
- 46:34Speaker 1: in your love interest for the week is Heather Lucklear.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I don't think so. It was really fun. John C
- 46:44Speaker 1: McGinley was single at this moment too. He was like,
- 46:49Speaker 1: yeah he did. To Ralph. Heather we were talking about.
- 46:54Speaker 1: And then the episode before this one, because you're in
- 46:56Speaker 1: that one too, about these pharmaceutical reps who were all
- 47:00Speaker 1: often attractive women, and they flirt with the doctors. Did
- 47:02Speaker 1: you know about this lunch? Yeah? Did you know? I
- 47:06Speaker 1: did know about it. I um. They were like, oh yeah,
- 47:09Speaker 1: they take all the doctors to lunch and they flirt
- 47:11Speaker 1: with them and give them all them you know, And
- 47:13Speaker 1: yeah I did. I was very well aware. But my
- 47:16Speaker 1: favorite line was anal leakage and the thing I got
- 47:18Speaker 1: to say. I loved saying anal I think I might
- 47:23Speaker 1: be that could be a good ringtone. Guy. Another one,
- 47:27Speaker 1: another one one. Heather Lockley's saying anal leakage could be
- 47:32Speaker 1: your notification lovely. Um. But yeah, so that but I did.
- 47:40Speaker 1: I was aware of that. Yeah, because we were talking
- 47:43Speaker 1: about in the last episode, how was such a thing
- 47:45Speaker 1: where they they they hired, they recruit these beautiful women
- 47:48Speaker 1: who who doctors are going to flirt with and go
- 47:50Speaker 1: to dinner and drinks with and uh and and we
- 47:53Speaker 1: kept this going, you know, you bring all this swag
- 47:55Speaker 1: to the hospital and the mug. Actually, if you see
- 47:57Speaker 1: there's an earlier scene in this where I'm holding imaking
- 48:00Speaker 1: coffee out of a Plumox mug. That's the that'sh And
- 48:03Speaker 1: then I think Donald didn't we keep it going for
- 48:05Speaker 1: like any shows up in the hospital, there was always
- 48:10Speaker 1: Plumox stuff all around because all your all the swag
- 48:14Speaker 1: you left stayed around for years. Now here's something I wonder. Um,
- 48:18Speaker 1: you know they're always say beautiful women doing that, But
- 48:20Speaker 1: are there beautiful men doing it? Because there's female doctors.
- 48:23Speaker 1: That's a very good question. I think there are. I
- 48:25Speaker 1: think I'm sure I had a handsome friend. I had
- 48:28Speaker 1: a handsome friend from high school who became one of
- 48:31Speaker 1: those guys. I definitely think they're they'd lean to being
- 48:35Speaker 1: good looking people because yeah, I don't know I think,
- 48:38Speaker 1: I think again. I just remember knowing about this twenty
- 48:42Speaker 1: over twenty years ago because I knew girls who did
- 48:46Speaker 1: it and they were all very pretty and they and
- 48:47Speaker 1: they would tell me. They were like, you won't believe
- 48:49Speaker 1: how fucked up this is. Like people don't know, people
- 48:51Speaker 1: don't remember a girl from my from my high school
- 48:53Speaker 1: telling me you don't. You can't believe the data we
- 48:56Speaker 1: have on these doctors, like the shit we know, we know,
- 48:59Speaker 1: we know when they're prescribing it, what else they're prescribing
- 49:01Speaker 1: If they're not prescribing that, how many How it's compared
- 49:04Speaker 1: to last month, Um, when we gave them a big
- 49:07Speaker 1: incentive that trip, Look how much the graph showed how
- 49:10Speaker 1: much they prescribed it more. And I just remember I
- 49:13Speaker 1: remember being like, this is so fucked up. And then
- 49:15Speaker 1: I thought I'd be like I thought it'd be like
- 49:17Speaker 1: discovered and over it's like payola back in the day
- 49:19Speaker 1: of the radio station days. And no it's still going on. Um,
- 49:23Speaker 1: that's still going on today, Like aren't the doctors aware
- 49:25Speaker 1: that this is happening there? Yeah, Trip and the pretty
- 49:30Speaker 1: yah woman, I'm sure. Yeah. I would love to go
- 49:33Speaker 1: play golf with a pharmaceutical rep get me out of
- 49:36Speaker 1: the hospital for four hours. Perfect. Yeah, and sometimes it's
- 49:40Speaker 1: like a golf retreat. All you have to do is
- 49:42Speaker 1: go like watch the plomox video and then you're like
- 49:45Speaker 1: on a golf retreat. Right, yeah, SIPs cool? Yeah, um, Donald,
- 49:49Speaker 1: we have to let Heather Lockleier go because we only
- 49:51Speaker 1: asked her. Yes, listen, we only really only recruited a
- 49:56Speaker 1: legend for an hour, and we can't. We can't keep her.
- 49:59Speaker 1: You're funny, you guys, or funny, but how do we
- 50:00Speaker 1: really want to you guys? You we really We were
- 50:05Speaker 1: both genuinely nervous, so I'm sorry if we spoke fast
- 50:08Speaker 1: and nervously. No, no, me too, So I'm right with you.
- 50:12Speaker 1: It was it was here was a pleasure, but it
- 50:15Speaker 1: was such a big deal to have you on the show.
- 50:17Speaker 1: When when uh when this I remember when it happened
- 50:20Speaker 1: and they were like we got Heather Lockleer and me
- 50:22Speaker 1: being like, holy shit, how do we get out of
- 50:24Speaker 1: lock Leer because he had a good show. Yeah, well,
- 50:28Speaker 1: thank you very much. But it was such a it
- 50:30Speaker 1: was it was such an amazing moment, amazing moment to
- 50:34Speaker 1: have you on the show and then still having an
- 50:36Speaker 1: end also because we had spent the summer together doing
- 50:38Speaker 1: Uptown Girl. Yeah right, that was crazy. It was really nice,
- 50:41Speaker 1: and you know what, it was such a joy for
- 50:43Speaker 1: me to do because it was so different from what
- 50:45Speaker 1: I was doing. And the writing is excellent, the show
- 50:48Speaker 1: is great, and you guys are great and et cetera,
- 50:51Speaker 1: et cetera. Well, thank you. How we really appreciate and
- 50:54Speaker 1: it's good to see you. Good to see you. Ike
- 50:56Speaker 1: care do we have a call? We do? We do
- 51:01Speaker 1: have a caller? Um, um, we're gonna take them right away.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Do we have to go to break? What do we do?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Think I think we should go to break. Let's just
- 51:08Speaker 1: talk for one second about Heather of Lockdoo. I have
- 51:10Speaker 1: to admin. I was very nervous. I spoke fast. I
- 51:13Speaker 1: apologize to the audience. You have to understand I had
- 51:17Speaker 1: such a crush on her as as a young person,
- 51:19Speaker 1: and U I was tongue tied. Donald, I was tongue tied.
- 51:24Speaker 1: You did great. You know what I knew. I sensed
- 51:26Speaker 1: that you were a little nervous. I was making like
- 51:29Speaker 1: I was talking like that, but I sensed it, and
- 51:32Speaker 1: so I tried to throw you into a comfort zone
- 51:34Speaker 1: and just have you talk about you know, uh, garden State.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah that was good. Good Ally you Yeah, yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 1: you got me. Yeah, I see what you did. You're
- 51:42Speaker 1: a good co host, you said. Zach's rambling nonsense. Why
- 51:46Speaker 1: don't I steer him to a some subject he likes
- 51:49Speaker 1: to discuss directing films? Right exactly? I see, God, you're good.
- 51:53Speaker 1: It's just because I love you, fucking hell, I love you.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I want to do and on that note, we'll be
- 51:59Speaker 1: right back. How about Sarah calling a vagina a bijinga?
- 52:09Speaker 1: I had? Is this something that it goes on forever
- 52:12Speaker 1: it goes? No? But I am saying, like, did they
- 52:14Speaker 1: make this up the scrubs writers? Because what that? I
- 52:16Speaker 1: never heard of vagina called a bajinga before. I've heard
- 52:19Speaker 1: it called so many things that it has. Somebody somewhere
- 52:22Speaker 1: has to call it a bigenga, like I've heard Nanni
- 52:26Speaker 1: my key key vertical smile, my right, my my my
- 52:30Speaker 1: new new my she she yea, my bigengau, my vagina,
- 52:37Speaker 1: my birdginer, my birdginer mgina. Yeah, vagina, my gin Joel
- 52:53Speaker 1: right Joel or any Jabel or any of those nicknames
- 52:56Speaker 1: from vagina. I don't know. We'll have to google it.
- 53:00Speaker 1: I've never heard, I've never heard before. It was crazy
- 53:07Speaker 1: that you gotta kind of put it like a different like.
- 53:09Speaker 1: I don't know where this accent would come from, but
- 53:11Speaker 1: it's sort of like a grown gan too much vagin
- 53:16Speaker 1: yang too much, too much? Another another one, another one. Oh,
- 53:28Speaker 1: that's a fun game to play make up nonsense terms
- 53:31Speaker 1: for vagina. I'm glad we played. Well, you know we
- 53:35Speaker 1: are well listen, butjingo is bajingo. That's that becomes Sarah's
- 53:38Speaker 1: term for vagina. It's her go to. It's her go to.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Let's bring it our guest, Okay, but don't mention any
- 53:44Speaker 1: of the vagina terms around the gap. Dude, I'm done.
- 53:47Speaker 1: I'm done with it. Want to be appropriate? Hey, Hilly
- 53:54Speaker 1: and shyy who Shelley? Shelley is my mom. So the
- 54:00Speaker 1: last time I used this, we um we were playing
- 54:05Speaker 1: categories with my boyfriend who's in England. But the day
- 54:08Speaker 1: to you, oh you, she took audience members. She took
- 54:14Speaker 1: a sip of a of what looks like an apple tineapple.
- 54:17Speaker 1: It looks like an appletinea. I don't think it's just
- 54:19Speaker 1: wearing water. She's wearing a Han solo tank top Donald. Yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: she knows the way to my heart. Yeah she does.
- 54:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna say something. I'm gonna say something real quick.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah ahead, Haley, you might just be the best guest
- 54:32Speaker 1: we've ever had ever. She's wearing that shirt. Can you
- 54:35Speaker 1: tell Donald where to get that shirt? Haley? Please? For
- 54:38Speaker 1: twenty one? That's not gonna be Donald. You shopping Forever
- 54:43Speaker 1: twenty one, Donald's Forever six. You know, I thought Forever
- 54:46Speaker 1: twenty one was the store that you went to when
- 54:48Speaker 1: you were twenty one. I thought that too, but I
- 54:52Speaker 1: was not twenty one when I bought it, So I
- 54:54Speaker 1: thought Forever twenty one meant that you wanted to look
- 54:56Speaker 1: like a twenty one year old. That's not It means
- 54:58Speaker 1: that everything under, everything is twenty one dollars an under
- 55:01Speaker 1: or something. Really, Yeah, Joel, is that true? I think
- 55:06Speaker 1: there's things for over It's listen, I will think it.
- 55:08Speaker 1: You can have three dollars and bigger items were more expensive.
- 55:11Speaker 1: But yeah, but you can divide it and at the
- 55:16Speaker 1: end you get twenty one, right, something like that. This
- 55:20Speaker 1: is oh my god, this is a mind blowing moment
- 55:22Speaker 1: for me because I, up to this moment, thought the
- 55:25Speaker 1: whole concept was let's say you're a little bit older
- 55:27Speaker 1: but you miss feeling like a little hip. You can
- 55:30Speaker 1: go to Forever twenty one and you're gonna look Forever
- 55:33Speaker 1: twenty one. No, no, no no, no, no, it's it's it's
- 55:36Speaker 1: you got a couple of You got a couple of
- 55:38Speaker 1: twenty ones in your pocket and five dollars in your pocket.
- 55:45Speaker 1: You can get five outfits from Forever twenty one. Okay,
- 55:49Speaker 1: I did that math quick. That's quick, that's relatively good.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Where are you calling from, Haley. I'm in Sola, Dad, California,
- 55:57Speaker 1: at my mom's right now. So this is where I've
- 56:00Speaker 1: been all lockdown. Yeah, there is Sola, Dad. Where is
- 56:03Speaker 1: Solo Dad? I don't know where that is. Um, so
- 56:05Speaker 1: it's near. It's about half an hour south on the
- 56:07Speaker 1: one on one of Monterey. Okay, okay, so it's there's
- 56:12Speaker 1: nothing here, it's nothing. You do? You do? You do?
- 56:16Speaker 1: You do? What do you do? Dad? Haley? Um? Right now,
- 56:21Speaker 1: I bide my time until I get to go back
- 56:25Speaker 1: to the UK. So that's where your boyfriend is. And
- 56:29Speaker 1: that's where your boyfriend is, So you want to you
- 56:31Speaker 1: want to get back to him? I do, yes, Haley,
- 56:34Speaker 1: you can go. You can go to the UK, Haley,
- 56:36Speaker 1: you just have to quarantine for two weeks on your own. Yeah. Yeah. Um,
- 56:41Speaker 1: well we're doing a visa right now, so we're working
- 56:44Speaker 1: on that. Oh I see, and um and are you
- 56:47Speaker 1: are you content to to be a transplant and live
- 56:50Speaker 1: there full time with your with your boyfriend? Yeah, I'd
- 56:53Speaker 1: love to be transplanted into that country, so stick me there.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I do love the UK of it. We love it too.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna be uh yeah, I'm gonna be transplanting there myself.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Wait what Yeah, you're gonna love them the UK. Well,
- 57:09Speaker 1: for part I'm I'm I'm dating a British woman and
- 57:12Speaker 1: part time I will be I'm spending I'm sure a
- 57:15Speaker 1: percentage of my life there. Don't get upset. I'm not
- 57:19Speaker 1: moving there, Donald, I'm just saying that if if, if
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm if one Haley can attest if one is in
- 57:24Speaker 1: a relationship with an English person, you have to You
- 57:27Speaker 1: have to go there sometimes, and it's a delightful place
- 57:29Speaker 1: to go. Hey, listen, they could be from a country
- 57:32Speaker 1: you don't want to visit. Haley and I are lucky
- 57:35Speaker 1: that it's a country we both love and the food's
- 57:38Speaker 1: not as bad as everyone says it is. Oh, the
- 57:39Speaker 1: food's wonderful. Can give me You can give me mushy
- 57:42Speaker 1: peas any day of the week. Oh my god, Do
- 57:45Speaker 1: I love the bangers in Mash? You like the bangers
- 57:47Speaker 1: in Mash? I don't really. I don't really eat pork,
- 57:49Speaker 1: so I eat the mash but not the bangers. I
- 57:52Speaker 1: don't understand why we don't have mushy peas in this
- 57:54Speaker 1: country because it's not as good. You can you can
- 58:00Speaker 1: use my pool when I'm gone. Okay, cool, Haley. I'm
- 58:04Speaker 1: gonna miss you. Haley doesn't have to hear about this.
- 58:06Speaker 1: We can negotiate that off all right. Oh it's fine.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Just make sure all my rafts stay inflated, right anyway, Haley, Haley,
- 58:16Speaker 1: do you have a question for us? Please? Please? I do.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I had it on a piece of paper and I
- 58:20Speaker 1: left it in the other room, but don't get it. Okay. Um,
- 58:25Speaker 1: So this is my Fruit Cups. Yeah, yeah, yeah, which
- 58:28Speaker 1: is probably my favorite episode and I don't really know why.
- 58:32Speaker 1: It's just my favorite episode. It's the one I probably
- 58:35Speaker 1: quote the most, you know, like the Daily Users who
- 58:38Speaker 1: walks away? Right? Um? And I love the music the
- 58:41Speaker 1: first scene whenever I used to where I worked. I
- 58:44Speaker 1: wouldn't occasionally had to take you know, a toilet paper
- 58:47Speaker 1: roll or two from work, and I'd occasionally be like,
- 58:50Speaker 1: or you steal stuff and take it back to work
- 58:53Speaker 1: or take it back home. Um, But I feel like
- 58:56Speaker 1: it's a pivotal point for all the characters, like doctor
- 59:00Speaker 1: Cox gets back together with Jordan j D and Turk
- 59:04Speaker 1: kind of both realized that, you know, Turk's relationship with
- 59:07Speaker 1: Carla is really solidifying in this and Elliott stands up
- 59:10Speaker 1: to her dad. So I was kind of wondering, at
- 59:12Speaker 1: what point in the series did you think that your
- 59:15Speaker 1: characters matured the most, or whether it was how you
- 59:18Speaker 1: played them or how it was written. All right, Hailey,
- 59:21Speaker 1: look at Donald's smug face. Does he said he say
- 59:23Speaker 1: the same thing? Yes, he No, he totally agrees with you.
- 59:27Speaker 1: He gave his thirty second summary and touched on everything
- 59:30Speaker 1: that you just said. And that's why he's got that
- 59:32Speaker 1: shit eating grin on his face. Why did they call
- 59:37Speaker 1: it a shit ing grin? You wouldn't be gritty and
- 59:40Speaker 1: you were eating shit, would you. No, I would not
- 59:42Speaker 1: be smiling. If I had to stick dood in my mouth.
- 59:45Speaker 1: That would be like it would be like it would
- 59:47Speaker 1: be I get it. So it's not really a shit
- 59:50Speaker 1: eating grin. It's the face you make but you're like,
- 59:52Speaker 1: oh god, growth and it looks like a smile, but
- 59:56Speaker 1: really what it is, Joe, Joel, are you looking around
- 59:59Speaker 1: up for us? You need to know the origin of
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: shit eating grin? What though? Anyway? Anyway? Um so Donald,
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: your best to answer that because you you you've already
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: spoken about this price. I think this is the episode
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: where now when we were filming it, No, I did
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: not realize this because none of us knew where the
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: show was going to go at this point. But you're
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: absolutely right. Every story that's told in this in this
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: episode goes to the end. Yeah, each and every one
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: of these stories. Elliot standing up to her dad, this
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: becomes her on her own and having to make decisions
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: on her own, and we see how crazy life is
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: for her when she has to do that, right, She's
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: a hectic person. Jude, Carla, and Turk go on to
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: get married and have kids. Cox and Jordan gone to
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: have more children every one of these and Jad's in
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: limbo for the rest of the season up until the
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: last Forever in Limbo that could be the name of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: the show. Forever in Limbo j season up until season eight,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: you are forever in Limbo. You are the dude who
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: has no idea. We don't know where you're gonna go.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: But at this point, if you were to look back
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: after doing the whole show, this would be the episode
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: My Fruit Cups where you're like, this is where they
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: gave us a taste of what was to come. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: I didn't see that, to be honest, I was just
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: kind of in more of a micro viewing of it,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: laughing at the jokes. There was some. There's some one
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: like you keep saying the bidet bidet to you, sir,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: the mention of bidjingo. There's some. There's a few classic
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: sort of moments in here. Um Laverne in the beginning
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: when she's like, you look pretty right, jes the pills
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: and right. It's the first appearance of the Volvo. I
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: believe Donald, do you know that? Don't don't ruin it, Hailey,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: because you probably know Donald. Do you know the name
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: of the brown Volvo? No Malik. We named the Vobo
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: malik ya. I named my Vobo Malik. Yeah wow, And
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: then you named it might be my Vovo. I don't
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: know why did you name your brown Bobo Malik, though
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I have a feeling. I have a feeling. Yeah, I
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: think Turt named the car because I definitely, I definitely
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: named my scooter Sasha. Yeah. Sure, sure you know, remember
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I U I post a picture of me on on
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: anything two wheels, people were like, is that new Sasha?
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I like, post a picture of my motorcycle, and I'm like, oh,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Sasha got an upgrade. There was that time that you
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: brought me that scooter and it was gray. He didn't
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: even wear it, didn't even drive it once. I did
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: drive it around you Nay, what are you talking about? Oh?
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: You named it Sasha Gray. Yeah. Well, let's tell the
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: audience the true story of this, because it really it
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: was hurtful to me. No, I had to here's the thing,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: don't do. I'm gonna be one hundred percent on it.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: So for my birthday, Zach buys me a scooter, a
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: great scooter named I named her Sasha Gray. Sure, sure, sure,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: let's keep Let's keep a Haley innocent of any absolute knowledge, right.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: And the problem with it was, though, is that you
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: had to have a motorcycle license to drive it. It
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: wasn't one of those things where you could just it
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: wasn't a scooter that was uh slow enough that you
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: could ride around on it and not have to have
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: a license. So if I would have got pulled over,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: they automatically would have been like, let me see your license.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I'd be like, I don't have a license, and then
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: they confiscate Sasha Gray and then I'd never see her again.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: All right now, from my point of view, Haley, imagine
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: you're my really good friend and it's a big birthday.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I think it was a meaningful, important birthday, and I
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: was like, I want to do something than like baller
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: for you. I'm gonna, like, I know what I'm gonna do.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna ring your doorbell, Haley, and when you come outside,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: there's gonna be a brand new, beautiful, expensive, shiny scooter
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: there for you. Yeah. It was one of the best
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: birthday presents ever. And then and then and then for
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: years and years and years, I'd be like, do you
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: ever use the good And he'd be like, oh, my
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: motorcycle license, my motor and I'd be like, oh, okay,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: well you're gonna get that, right, you can get that.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Just go go take the test real quick, you and
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: he'd be like, oh, yeah, yeah, the Batteri's dead now,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, there was always a reason. There was
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: always a real scooter around my neighborhood quite a few times. Bullshit, Haley,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: you know what? I finally did you want gonna go
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: get Casey? I reclaimed that shit, Haley. I was like,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: taking that ship was straight up out of a Jay
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Z song. Yeah. I rolled up, I rolled up and
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: took it back. At a protest, they repolled a vehicle.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Everything was all good just a week ago. That's what
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: you did, you the vehicle. I took Sasha Gray away
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: from you. You did, and it hurt my feelings. Yeah,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: I understand. Um. Anyway, Sorry we had to air that
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: in front of you, Hailey. Do you have another question
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: for Donald Phazon or I guess um, I have a
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: funny story that relates to Zach what you were talking
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: about a few episodes ago with the Temple of Doom. Yeah,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: I have a funny I can ask my question or
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: I can relate another silly story story story and if
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: it's and if it's not funny, we'll let you. You
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: can edit it out. We edited out everything no one. Um. So,
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: when I was maybe about eight nine ten m I
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: noticed that were you eight nine or ten in between there?
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: I don't really remember you were. I was an adolescent, right,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: but I had noticed that there was something kind of
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: growing on my throat area, and I went up to
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: my dad, who's a doctor, and I was like, Dad, look,
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I have an Adam's apple. Because I was a child,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: I didn't know that was not a girl thing to have, right, Well,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: that's not normal. So we went to go get it
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: checked out and I had to get something removed that
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: was growing on my vocal cords and it was as
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: a child, surgery is kind of scary. So after we
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: had done the surgery and I was staying overnight, UM,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: my dad was like, oh, we have some movies that
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: are at the hospital. Here, we'll watch this one. And
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: it was Indiana Jones Temple of Do And right when
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: it gets to the part, you know, and he's ripping
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: out the heart, I just immediately started bawling. Yea and
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: at d Yeah, that's why exactly. My mom came the
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: next day. He's like, yeah, she had this really bad
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: reaction to the movie. And she's like, well, of course,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: she did. They were picking out somebody's heart. Yeah, and
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I don't think. I watched it for at least another
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: ten years, and then I watched it again and I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: was like, this isn't that bad. But Haley, but Haley,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Haley and I were scarred by this film. Our our
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: parents made bad choices. How can you be upset at
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that movie? I had a whole birthday alved around Indiana
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Jones later, not Temple of Doom, the first one. Mainly
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Raid is in a low stark is just as scary
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: when they opened the Ark of the Covenant and it
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: makes the dude's face mount. No, I had no problem
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: with that. There was something about there was something about
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: there was a man that screams like a black curdling scream.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: He's like, screams like that. I backed up from the mic.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: You're welcome, You're welcome. You're welcome America, America, UK, Germany, Italy, Australia.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: But you listen, Australia, You're welcome. Another one, another one, listen.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: A lot of people are asking. I don't mean to
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: cut you up, but a lot of people are asking me,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and this is I feel we need to explain this.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: We didn't make up another one. Oh yeah, I didn't.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I just thought everyone would know the pop culture thing
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: of it. No, DJ college, Yes, DJ Khalid college. College
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: isn't it college? Depending? You know, some people say college,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: some people say Dan, you're a DJ. What is it? Well,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: there's there's Khalid, the artist who made talk Um, and
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: then I thought it was DJ Khaled with it more
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: like yeah, yeah, okay, Kal DJ Khaled when he drops
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: his latest tracks, he will in the spirit of Puffy
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: back in the day, going ahead or can't stop, won't stop? Yeah,
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: his his thing is another one, like here's another hit
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: song for you guys. He has another one. There's that,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: and then there's major key, and then there's We're the best.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Major key means what if the song isn't a major key.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I don't know what major key is. That's a question
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: to ask scrubs Wicky. Now we're gonna go to no.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Now we're gonna go to no. Imagine yet imagine we
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: have we have, we have asked DJ Khalid, and now
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: we're gonna gonna ask DJ Khaled. Um by major key?
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Another one, Um, Joel, did you ever find out what
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: shitting Grin was about? Yeah? There's a couple of stories
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: you want to hear. Yeah, please, sure, Okay. Um So,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: my favorite one comes from RB Smith. He's from the
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: UCSD Astrophysics program, and this is off with the San
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: Diego reader dot com. He says the original form of
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: this phrase was grinning like a possum eating shit, which
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: was occasionally euphemized to grinning like a possum eating pumpkin seeds.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: To those are that's fortunate enough to have observed this
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: teeth together, lips apart, smile on the face of the
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: aforementioned marsupial munching on the aforementioned sectological delicacy, he's smart.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: The expression counters up a very explicit and not infrequently
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: very apropro image, So that's part of it. Did he
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: say scatological delicacy? Yes, those are not two words I've
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: ever heard together. It was not fun to say that
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: sitting on my van. I. Um so, so it's a
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: referring to an animal who's eating shit and has a
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: big smile on his face because the animal likes eating shit.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: But it's not really shit, it's actually pumpkin. No, no, no, no,
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: that's like a clean version. Yeah, when if you're saying
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: it in front of a kid, You're like, Oh, he's
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: like he's eating pumpkin. Look at that pumpkin seed eating
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: grin on his face. Yeah, I'm gonna start saying pumpkin
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: seeding grin instead of shit eating grin. Um, Haley, UM,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: we like you so much. We're gonna end with one
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: more question from you. All right? Um? If so, I
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: don't know if you guys remember, because I know you
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: guys have been saying that you don't remember um some
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: of the episodes. But if there was one line that
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: another character had that you wish you could have had
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: to say, what do you remember? Which one? It was?
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Good question? M m hm m m m m m no.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: I like in your endough, that's I say that a
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: lot as well. I say that a lot. I think
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: i'd take um. Sometimes when I'm banging this mattress, I
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I pretend I'm banging that one. You're something, Todd said.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: The Todd says, um. I also like Niel's line, My
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: the good Lord didn't bless my wife with another pointer
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: pointer in thumb pinky French nine French is very popular. Yeah,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: you know, for you know, uh, I want to be
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: the one inside of you. I thought that was very
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: funny too, but I said that you said that, so
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: you didn't really answer. You're the only man who's ever
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: been inside of me. Whoa, I just took out his appendix.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: There's no mean to clarify. Oh no, okay, s M. Hayley.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Thank you so much for coming on. Good luck getting
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: to be with your your fella in the in the
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: United Kingdom. Perhaps perhaps I'll see you over there after
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: we've both the quarantined, and more likely you won't. This
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: is called pleasantries. Donald. I will wave to you. I
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: will keep the train. It's not a train, it's called
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: the tube. There are trains. The Tube is only in London. Yeah, Donald,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: don't listen, don't. I'm in Newcastle, so I'm in like
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the north North of London. Oh it's wee ritzy. No,
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: it's not ritzy. London is London is the hood if
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: you ask me, Yo, tonight on Donald talks about different
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: neighborhoods of London. All right, bye, Hailey, thank you so much,
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: thank you so much, Thank you guys. I saw Lisa
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Marie Pressley in London really yeah, like at a show.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: She did a show. It was like my Buddy was like, Lisa,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Marie Pressley is performing, you don't. First of one, I'm
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: glad we're all finally alone now because I feel like
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: we had to be great for Heather, and then we
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: had to host Hayley, who was delightful. But sometimes you
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: just want to just curl up on the couch with
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: your friends and and just shoot shit. You know, no,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I totally agree. Yeah, so let's just let's relax. I'm
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: gonna top up my pants and just I'm gonna kick
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: my shoes off. Let's pack a bowl and let's just
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: fucking relax now. No more house guests, no more visitors. Okay,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: just us get let's get feedle on the couch and
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: watch alone. Um now, Donald Show, ladies and gentle. No, no, no, no,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: it's not We got more to do, don't. So Krystal
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: wants back on the Christa Miller's back looking gorgeous and
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: pregnant and pregnant. Is that William in her belly? That
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: must be will in her belly? Yes, that's amazing what
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I told Casey that she was like, holy cow, it
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: was this was that long ago? Because William is a
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: what is he a senior in high school. Now, yes
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: he must and he dunked. He can dunk, and he
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: plays basketball and he got the game. Yeah, you guys
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: are seeing him in this episode in utero and now
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: he dunks. If you want to see him do it,
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: you can go to Bill Lawrence's Yeah, Bill Lawrence on him.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: On Bill Lawrence's Vduzer Vduzer's Instagram, you can see his
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: his son dunk. How about a ten thirteen when I
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: go I told you you smoked the angel, Yeah, that
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: was improved. That wasn't something really that was improved. I
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: remember it was something else originally, and uh, that was funny. Yeah.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: I remember laughing so hard when you said that too,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: And I remember thinking that'll never make this epis that'll
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: never make the ship because we weren't allowed to talk
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: about weed back then. It was so scandalous. Now, I
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: want to know something you're your I read on Scrubs
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Wiki that your Brady Bunch trivia here is wrong. Um,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: I don't know not about Listen. I don't know nothing
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: about the Brady Bunch in the first place, so I don't. Okay, Well,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Turk Turk is quite wrong here, and I'll tell you why.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I can't back it up though, because I don't know
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: shit about the Brady Bunch. I'm just telling you so
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: you know, if it ever comes up again in your life.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: When Turk tries to prove his knowledge of the Brady
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Bunch by describing a exactly which episode JD is referring to,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: he's incorrect. He claims the episode quote Marcia gets creamed,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: and quote was in By the way, you could never
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: name a show that today was in seasons was in
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: season five, episode three, while it was actually episode seven
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: that season. So somebody fucked up. We can blame who
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: wrote this. Janee, you fucked up, okay, and you're Northwestern grad.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: I expected more from you. I really got a hand
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: it to Christopher in this episode, you know, making fun
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: of herself and you know, making fun of the fact
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: that she's pregnant and being so vulnerable. She did such
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: a great job, and the scene in the bathroom where
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: she's crying, you know, and I felt very raw and real.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Yeah it did, you know. And I remember when my
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: wife was pregnant and there were days where she didn't
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: necessarily feel like, you know, she was the sexiest person
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: on the planet, and I remember just thinking, Wow, she's
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: so beautiful. She's so beautiful, and I feel like that's
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: what Cox was going through in this episode, you know,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: regardless of him dating how the Lockeleyest character and everything
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: like that. There's something special about when you see somebody
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: who you love and they're carrying your baby inside of them,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: that you just think that the most beautiful human on
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: the planet. Like I just I just remember looking at
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Casey and being like, holy shit, she's so beautiful. And
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: she and she'd be like, I got three chins, and
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I'd be like, I don't give a shit, you could
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: have twenty chin. You looked so beautiful. I love all
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: three of them, right, you know what I mean? Well,
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I bet you know christ is a really good actress.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: But I also bet that you know she was legit pregnant,
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: and I'm sure that she could call upon those feelings
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: when she's sitting on the bathroom floor feeling, you know,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: undesired by by doctor Cox. I thought that was a
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: really nice scene between the two of them. Yeah, and
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: it was a good fake out too. Yeah, that was
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: clever how they had to do that. So Johnny c
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: grabs two things whiskey. Heather's on the couch by the
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: time he comes around, it's been changed to Krista and
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: she's like, you know, I can't drink that, right. He's like, yeah,
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: they're both for me. Yeah, I love that. Yeah. Now,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: this we've we've said it a couple of times, but
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: this is one of the greatest lines in Scrub's history.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: In this episode thirteen o nine, I have one of
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: those French things that shoots water up my butt. But
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: day the day to use her whoever? I said, but
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Day that was very clever. Heather has a line that's
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: funny when she disses Kristen. She says, anywhere anybody looks,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: they'll see you. That was fucked up. And how about
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: when I scare you in the ambulance and you scream?
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: That was funny. Yeah, and yeah, I was gonna say, dude,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: such a good scene. Man. That's one of those moments.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: You know, you we've worked together for a really long time,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: and you have and and I've seen I feel I've
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: seen most of your tricks. You've developed some new tricks
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: that I haven't seen in the last ten years because
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: you've gone on to work on other things and everything
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: like that. But this is one of those. But this
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: is one of the first times where we had done
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: a season of of Scrubs together already, and I hadn't
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: seen you play this this this side before where it
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: was like you were you were thinking, you you're really
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: thinking about it in the scene and it disturbs you,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: but it doesn't disturb you to where you're like kind
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: of fucked up about it. But it's just like, holy shit,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: life's changing for us. And I had never seen you
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: played that before. And I remember watching this because I
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: watched it like two two hours ago and thinking, if
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: I remember correctly, I remember Zach not knowing how he
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: wanted to play this scene, and we worked on this
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: side on his side for a bit, and this is
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: what he came up with, and it works so well, dude,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: it works. It's like it's it's one of those moments
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: where you know you're in awe of the moment as
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: an actor, but you're also you want to keep it grounded,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: like so she said, she said, you said we no,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: she said we you know what I mean. And that
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: could have been played so many other ways, it could
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: have been underplayed, but you played it very thoughtfully, and
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: I thought that was so amazing. Thank you. Thank you
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: for saying that. I you know, it's on this show,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: it was always you and I so easily went into
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: the silly stuff, right um, because that that's just that's
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: who we are and that came naturally to us. But
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: then there's always these great moments in the scene is
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: one of them where we have the sort of heart
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: to heart where we would have to shift our brains
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: a bit and be like no, no, no, uh, go
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: out of broad silliness and like drop in and be
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: just totally real and straight with one another. And I
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: think that's one of the things that made this show
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: special to a lot of people because because it had
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: it had the ability to do that, it had the
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: ability to drop in and be real. Yeah, you know,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: and and and and that's I mean, yeah, obviously that's
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: the reason why we ran for so long. But that's
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: such a special thing man to to for me now,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: to go back and look at the things that we
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: did in our past and the things that you know,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: it's a lot like what this episode is about, you know,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: just to look at, you know, moments that we had
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: back in the day and really appreciating them. You know,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: I miss the camaraderie that we had. I don't think
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: i'll ever in my life experience what we experienced when
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: we were making this show again. And you know, you
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: search for it and you try to create it with
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: other people, and sometimes you even fake it. But you know,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: we were also young, but we were also young. And
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, yeah, of course nine year
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: runs on a show with great people, It's not something
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: that happens multiple times in a lifetime necessarily, But also
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: we were young and so wide eyed and um excited
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: and really savoring it. I think. And now you know,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: you have a family, you know, we all have grown up,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: We've got other things going on. I didn't even know
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: that we would. I don't even know if it's recreatable
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: in a in a new environment, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I I I can't imagine myself like I can't imagine
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: myself spending the amount of time that we've spent together
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: with someone else now, you know, other than my wife.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: And the hours too, man, I also don't want to
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: work that hard. I don't mind working those hours when
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: I when I love I love working. I love working.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: But when I look at this show and how much
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: how we were, we were just non existent well, you
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: worked a lot about there were times where you just
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: didn't do but I just didn't leave there. There were
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: times where I thought about sleeping in that fucking hospital. Yeah, no,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: not me, but I never did. Um Listen. The rooftop
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: that ends this show, wasn't it Downtown La? I don't know.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I would like to believe that it was. It could
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: have been Joe, No, it wasn't it was. It could
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: have fancy rooftop, and I believe it. We went down
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: Town LA for it and then but scrubs Wiki is
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: saying that it was at UCLA, and I think it
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: might be wrong, and they're saying it's the roof of
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: kind of give this and we kinda give this to
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: freaking funcos Man. No, listen, he deserves funcos for the
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: services he's already performed. They've given us false. False. It's false, though, man,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: that definitely where at UCLA? Was that? He says? Well,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: Wiki or it's not just him, him and his thousand
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: minions say couple commons, but that would be Westwood and
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: that's not Westwood. In the end of the show, right, Dan,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: you want to ask Bill do you think Bill would
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: remember remember? Let's ask djal dj Khaled at the end
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: of this episode, Um, what what building are we on?
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I believe it was Downtown. Some are saying it's a
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: UCLA property, which is Westwood. What are your thoughts on this,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Zach May your key? I got nothing. I don't. I really,
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: honestly don't even have a DJ Khalid impersonation in my repertoire.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: If you watch Scrubs on Hulu, they play a DJ
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Khaled commercial about him brush somebody brushing their teeth, and
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: DJ Khaled's like circular motions. Do another one? What if
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: I another one? What if I do DJ Khaled? But
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: as a as a as an impersonation that I'm good at.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: So you just have to use the audience. We'll just
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: have to pretend this is how he talks ahead, he
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: talks like Aaron Neville. Another I don't remember where you
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: got shot that scene, but I don't think it was
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: You'll see. I'm it was Downtown LLA. That's how DJ
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Kaled talks in my mind. Oh right now, did Aaron
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: Neville die? I don't know, but he's rolling over it
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: right right? Why is he rolling over his grave? He's alive? Well,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: that's something. Charles Barkley says, oh um dj kal it
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: is Aaron Neville dead. No, he's very much a laugh.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: We should show great show listeners. We love you. Why
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: is the janitor stealing a computer? He goes the whole
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: the whole episode. He's trying to figure out who's stealing
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: all of these think I think the reveal is that
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: he's the one stealing everything out of the hospital. Right. Well, no,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: he didn't steal the drugs and he definitely didn't steal
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: the pudding pops because we did the pudding because we
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: did right. Hey, guys, we had a great time with
