- 0:01Speaker 1: Wave.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:13Speaker 2: My name is Bobani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:15Speaker 2: get your podcast. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:19Speaker 2: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:21Speaker 2: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:24Speaker 2: a hater. We are going to talk about a surprisingly
- 0:28Speaker 2: fascinating NBA draft lottery in just a minute. But first,
- 0:32Speaker 2: I have to admit, I didn't think our boy Le
- 0:37Speaker 2: Slim had it in him.
- 0:39Speaker 3: And you're like, what is it? And the it is.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, I can't say he stole off on Nas Reed
- 0:45Speaker 2: because that gives an improper impression of what really happened.
- 0:48Speaker 3: But he did elbow him in the mouth.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And it's so.
- 0:52Speaker 4: All right.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I want to tell you what was going on when
- 0:55Speaker 3: I was watching this.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I was on the phone. And so I had the
- 1:00Speaker 2: television on mute as I was watching the game. And.
- 1:05Speaker 2: When I was looking up and seeing things, I saw
- 1:09Speaker 2: Nas Reid hit Victor in the face, right? And I
- 1:13Speaker 2: was like, huh, that's something. And, you know, I was
- 1:17Speaker 2: cutting Victor a measure of slack. I don't know if
- 1:19Speaker 2: slack's the right word, but the bottom line is, for
- 1:22Speaker 2: most people, when they intentionally elbow somebody in.
- 1:26Speaker 3: The mouth, they got to get their elbows up.
- 1:29Speaker 2: And then they do the elbow swing.
- 1:31Speaker 3: From up there, right? I'm looking at it like, okay, Victor,
- 1:34Speaker 3: eight feet tall.
- 1:35Speaker 2: He saw himself as just trying to clear out some space,
- 1:38Speaker 2: except these dudes is way smaller.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Maybe he ain't know what was going on.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Brother, they sent me that video where you got Victor
- 1:47Speaker 2: throwing that elbow and then he hit Nas Reed right
- 1:50Speaker 2: in the grill.
- 1:51Speaker 3: And then you look up and they zoom in on
- 1:52Speaker 3: Dylan Harper. And Dylan Harper is like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:56Speaker 3: And I was like, oh, no, no, no.
- 1:58Speaker 2: He did this on purpose. There was more plausible deniability
- 2:04Speaker 2: in that time that Ron Artest elbowed James Harden in
- 2:10Speaker 2: the mouth than there was when Victor elbowed Nas Reed, right?
- 2:16Speaker 3: There was more.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And I also want to make this note. In fairness
- 2:19Speaker 2: to Nas Reed, who took that licking and kept on ticking,
- 2:22Speaker 2: I think we have a tendency to talk about Victor
- 2:25Speaker 2: and like, oh boy, he's so skinny. He's so skinny.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And he's also like diesel.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Like, right.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It's very clear to me. That's a strong motherfucker right there.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Like, like that combined with the leverage of that elbow
- 2:40Speaker 2: swinging around.
- 2:41Speaker 4: I mean, like whether or not he's strong, the amount
- 2:44Speaker 4: of limb that comes at you, like just, you know,
- 2:47Speaker 4: basic physics is, how his arm has to travel when
- 2:52Speaker 4: it goes across his body.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, but he kept it close too. And look, that
- 2:55Speaker 2: look on his face, he had had enough and he
- 2:58Speaker 2: decided that one way or another, he was going to
- 3:01Speaker 2: clear them out and he cleared Nas Reid out.
- 3:03Speaker 3: And the way you really.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Know he did it on purpose is I have never
- 3:07Speaker 2: seen anybody offer less argument over a flagrant to- Less emotion.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he was just like, I'm ejected. All right. See
- 3:17Speaker 3: you guys later. And just walked in a tunnel.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Oh, you decided that you were going to send a
- 3:22Speaker 2: message to the league.
- 3:25Speaker 3: In game four, a very important, very important game.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember me and Shannon got a scale
- 3:33Speaker 3: on these things.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:34Speaker 3: So it was not a pivotal.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Pivotal is game five. It was not a do or die.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Nobody already had three. Try to remember what the term is.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Must win one of them.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It was a must win for Minnesota. Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It was a must win for Minnesota, but I'm trying
- 3:51Speaker 2: to remember what.
- 3:53Speaker 3: They were going for was the decisive advantage, right?
- 3:56Speaker 2: Like that's what.
- 3:57Speaker 3: They were going for, but they had it.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And that's a game that even without Victor, they should
- 4:02Speaker 2: have won, but absolutely with him. I think they're probably
- 4:04Speaker 2: going to win. And the truth is you can't do
- 4:07Speaker 2: that in the situation that he's in.
- 4:09Speaker 3: You cost your squad a.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Game in a situation where look, man, I've had people
- 4:16Speaker 2: say to me that I've seen in the YouTube comments, right?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Where they're like, oh, so the Lakers are winning. You
- 4:23Speaker 3: ain't got nothing to say about LeBron.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Well, the Lakers over there getting their asses kicked and
- 4:27Speaker 2: I ain't got nothing to say about them either. OK,
- 4:30Speaker 2: there's just not that much interesting going on with them.
- 4:34Speaker 3: At this point.
- 4:34Speaker 4: We'll get to LeBron in July.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 2: The Thunder are going to get them up out of there.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And then the Thunder's going to go home and they're
- 4:42Speaker 2: going to be posted up and they're going to be resting.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And I don't know what they do to practice. Apparently
- 4:47Speaker 2: they go put on one pieces and wrestle because that's
- 4:50Speaker 2: the kind of basketball they.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Decide they're going to play.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You know what?
- 4:52Speaker 3: They don't wrestle. They wrestle.
- 4:54Speaker 2: That's what they're going to do. They're going to go
- 4:55Speaker 2: out there and they're going to paint their faces and
- 4:57Speaker 2: they're going to get all greasy and shit.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And on one hand, they're going to practice how to
- 5:01Speaker 3: do holds. And on the other hand, they're going to
- 5:03Speaker 3: practice how to sell it.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Right?
- 5:05Speaker 3: You know, that's what they're going to do.
- 5:07Speaker 2: But all I'm saying is They're going to get to
- 5:09Speaker 2: go over there and they're going to rest up. And
- 5:12Speaker 2: chances are that Jalen Williams is going to be back
- 5:15Speaker 2: after having a month of resting up where the hardest
- 5:17Speaker 2: decision that he's had to make is which ridiculous get
- 5:20Speaker 2: up he's going to wear on the sideline. Boy, let
- 5:23Speaker 2: me tell you something right now.
- 5:25Speaker 3: And I get this. I'm 45 years old.
- 5:27Speaker 2: And this is this is something I think everybody needs
- 5:29Speaker 2: to understand that I feel personally about life and everything else.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to be on the same shit as
- 5:34Speaker 2: these kids.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Of course.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Right. I'm supposed to look at what they wear and
- 5:37Speaker 2: think it's ridiculous. That's that's what I'm supposed to think. Man,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I saw that boy, Jalen Williams, on the sideline with
- 5:45Speaker 2: a pink jacket that looked like a bit of a
- 5:46Speaker 2: crop top.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And I think I saw he had a star on
- 5:49Speaker 3: his face.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Meanwhile, one of them dudes from the Spurs, one of
- 5:54Speaker 2: them last name, last name, Carter Bryant. That's that's that's.
- 5:57Speaker 3: What his name is.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Now, on another day, we talk about my thing with
- 6:00Speaker 2: black people giving their kids white people names.
- 6:03Speaker 3: And yes, last name, last name is white people names.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:05Speaker 3: And, you know, you're from the South South.
- 6:07Speaker 4: You know exactly what I'm talking about here.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 6: Right. Right.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Like when black people start being like, oh, I'm gonna
- 6:11Speaker 2: give my kids white people names.
- 6:12Speaker 3: They'll get they'll get better jobs.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Nah, no, they won't.
- 6:15Speaker 1: No, they won't.
- 6:15Speaker 2: They're going to show up one day. But anyway, he
- 6:18Speaker 2: was on the ground during the game and his jersey
- 6:20Speaker 2: pulled to the side and that boy had multiple butterflies
- 6:23Speaker 2: tattooed on his back. And I said, what? Like it
- 6:28Speaker 2: wasn't in the middle of the low part of his back.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Hashtag IYKYK. However, it was still multiple butterflies on his back.
- 6:37Speaker 2: And I'm like, that dude that gave you that tattoo
- 6:40Speaker 2: was like, are you sure you want to do this?
- 6:43Speaker 3: Okay, I don't know what the rest of it was, right?
- 6:45Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 6:46Speaker 4: You just saw the butterflies.
- 6:48Speaker 2: I saw enough to have questions. We were talking about basketball.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Sorry about that. But yeah, Jalen Williams be over there
- 6:57Speaker 2: in them get-ups.
- 6:59Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? He going to be back
- 7:01Speaker 3: probably by the time they play.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And meanwhile, every game the Spurs play is another game
- 7:07Speaker 2: where something can go wrong, right? Every game you play
- 7:11Speaker 2: is a game where somebody might get hurt. Somebody might
- 7:13Speaker 2: get dinged up, whatever it is.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Every game.
- 7:16Speaker 2: My daddy always says about owning a house or just
- 7:19Speaker 2: everything in general. My daddy say everything you own is
- 7:22Speaker 2: a bill waiting to happen. Every game you play is
- 7:25Speaker 2: a bill waiting to happen. And they needed to hurry
- 7:28Speaker 2: up and be done with this. OK, it was bad enough.
- 7:31Speaker 2: They lost that game one in their own house. They
- 7:33Speaker 2: needed to hurry up and be done with this. And
- 7:35Speaker 2: part of why they're not done with this is because
- 7:37Speaker 2: Victor lost his cool and you can't do that. On
- 7:40Speaker 2: the other hand, I do respect the goonery of it. Like,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I really respect the fact that he was.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Like, no, I elbowed him in the head, and now
- 7:48Speaker 3: I'm going to go back and take a shower. Here
- 7:51Speaker 3: for it.
- 7:52Speaker 2: My question for the Spurs is, how y'all ain't got
- 7:55Speaker 2: no goon? How is there not one person on your
- 7:59Speaker 2: team whose job it is to goon?
- 8:02Speaker 4: Luke Cornett's not the goon?
- 8:05Speaker 3: He could be if he decided.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Now, look, in this NBA, anybody can be a goon.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Anybody can be a goon because nobody gonna fight.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Right?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Like, I feel like everybody in the NBA could basically
- 8:15Speaker 2: treat this like it's a new school. And you just
- 8:19Speaker 2: go find somebody to establish who you are out here
- 8:22Speaker 2: in these streets. But outside of the Detroit Pistons, it
- 8:26Speaker 2: don't seem like anybody got a goon out here.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And the Spurs clearly need a goon.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Is Lou Dort not a goon?
- 8:34Speaker 2: No, Lou Dort's a goon. Now, the problem with the
- 8:37Speaker 2: Thunder is, is that They don't have a goon because
- 8:40Speaker 2: they have an ethos of goonery, right? But yeah, Lou
- 8:44Speaker 2: Dort is the closest thing to an outright goon. I'll
- 8:48Speaker 2: put it to you like this. I think you know
- 8:50Speaker 2: that it's on the board that if you do something
- 8:52Speaker 2: to Shea, the one person that you really don't want
- 8:54Speaker 2: any problems with is the off-ball linebacker himself, Lou Dort.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Lou Dort might as well play football with a hand
- 9:02Speaker 2: in the dirt. Like that's his whole situation. He must
- 9:06Speaker 2: be terrible. Either he terrible at hockey or the white
- 9:08Speaker 2: people up there don't let us play. Because otherwise, I
- 9:11Speaker 2: don't understand how he out here playing basketball. I said
- 9:14Speaker 2: something once people got mad at me about this, and
- 9:16Speaker 2: I don't know why they misunderstood this.
- 9:18Speaker 3: If Lou Dort was from Mississippi, Lou Dort's in the NFL.
- 9:21Speaker 4: Oh, for sure.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, that's what it is.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Lou Dort is filling A-gaps.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Or rushing the pass.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I don't know what Lou Dort actually does
- 9:31Speaker 2: in basketball other than goon.
- 9:33Speaker 3: That's it. But beef stew up there in Detroit.
- 9:36Speaker 2: They need one of those in San Antonio because all
- 9:39Speaker 2: anybody can do to stop this cat is to knock
- 9:42Speaker 2: him around.
- 9:43Speaker 3: That's the only option.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And he just got sick of it. It took Shaq
- 9:47Speaker 2: eight years, nine years before he tried something like this.
- 9:51Speaker 2: And that was when he took that swing at Brad
- 9:54Speaker 2: Miller that for the sake of all parties involved, it's
- 9:57Speaker 2: a good thing he did not connect because Shaq would
- 9:59Speaker 2: still be at Joliet right now. He would be behind
- 10:06Speaker 2: bars right now if he had connected on that punch
- 10:10Speaker 2: with Brad Miller. They'd have had to make Brad Miller,
- 10:12Speaker 2: the Bulls would have had to retire Brad Miller's jersey.
- 10:16Speaker 3: They might have even made him the logo.
- 10:19Speaker 2: If Shaq had connected that punch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That
- 10:27Speaker 2: would be the memorial to Brad Miller would be at
- 10:29Speaker 2: the United Senate. It would be a chalk outline on
- 10:32Speaker 2: the floor. Like imagine that they couldn't take it off.
- 10:34Speaker 2: They couldn't take the outline off the floor until they
- 10:36Speaker 2: had completed the investigation. They still playing games out there.
- 10:39Speaker 3: They got tape on the ground.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Brad Miller laying out on the ground, his head over here,
- 10:44Speaker 2: the rest of his body over there like that.
- 10:46Speaker 3: That's what it would have taken in order to do that.
- 10:48Speaker 2: But now you got everybody got to have a goon
- 10:51Speaker 2: like this is not a league that's supposed to be
- 10:53Speaker 2: completely and totally absent of goons.
- 10:56Speaker 3: He should not have to be his own goon.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Somebody else should have stepped up very much clearer and
- 11:02Speaker 2: been like, hey, hey, hey, we don't tolerate this. And
- 11:04Speaker 2: it's not like they don't follow this man.
- 11:07Speaker 3: It's not like they don't run behind this man, right?
- 11:09Speaker 3: It's not like they got an issue with him.
- 11:11Speaker 2: It's not like when he first got there, when they
- 11:13Speaker 2: had Cisco and them other haters that ain't even want
- 11:15Speaker 2: to throw oops to him.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Everybody seems to be on board, right?
- 11:20Speaker 2: How is nobody's job to go fight Nas Reed or
- 11:23Speaker 2: whoever it was for Victor? It doesn't make any sense.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Somebody needs to be on the job. Like, it should.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Be some dreadhead brothers in the lobby.
- 11:38Speaker 2: They got a bunch of them dreadhead cats. Ain't none
- 11:40Speaker 2: of them. Castle, Vassal, ain't none of y'all.
- 11:43Speaker 3: It's Vassell, my bad.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I like Castle and Vassal.
- 11:47Speaker 2: How about we start calling them Cassell and Vassal? Just
- 11:50Speaker 2: throw people off, right? But somebody's supposed to be the problem.
- 11:55Speaker 2: He cannot do that for himself. That's where this NBA
- 12:01Speaker 2: has gone to places that are just too far for me. Honestly,
- 12:04Speaker 2: if I'm the Spurs, I'd trade two first-round picks to
- 12:06Speaker 2: get Beef Stew down there. Can you imagine if they
- 12:09Speaker 2: had Beef Stew? Dude, can you imagine the ovation to
- 12:12Speaker 2: Beef Stew? We get every time, man, we need to
- 12:15Speaker 2: talk to my man, Bruce. I wonder, I got to
- 12:17Speaker 2: call Bruce. Find out what he thought about that.
- 12:19Speaker 4: I'm sure Bruce Bowen's got takes.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Oh, I'm sure he does.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I'm sure he has.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Positive.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Bruce might have taught him that move.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Nah, Bruce is a little more subtle.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 4: That would be Bruce's frustration is he was too obvious
- 12:35Speaker 4: with it.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Bruce would have taught him, now see what you
- 12:37Speaker 2: got to do is just put your foot right there.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Not that far, not that far.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Just right.
- 12:42Speaker 3: See how your knee right there by the thigh bone? See, see, see.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Now Bruce is going to call me and start talking
- 12:48Speaker 2: about how he had to talk to his therapist about
- 12:51Speaker 2: me and what happened. Also in that game, as much
- 12:54Speaker 2: as they used to say, dude, shout out to Anthony Edwards, man.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Was it 36 last night?
- 12:59Speaker 4: 36 on one leg.
- 13:00Speaker 2: 36 on one leg. He's going to the tunnel and
- 13:02Speaker 2: getting oxygen in between and everything else. I love that team, man.
- 13:07Speaker 2: They're not good enough to do enough. But I really, really,
- 13:12Speaker 2: really like them. And their whole get down and everything else.
- 13:15Speaker 2: They a squad full of dudes that go hard.
- 13:18Speaker 3: And Julius Randle.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And it is great to see what they're doing and
- 13:24Speaker 2: how they're doing it. But the bottom line is the
- 13:26Speaker 2: Spurs should have dispatched of them and be in here
- 13:29Speaker 2: resting and allowing us to rest. Because Ryan, we wrapping
- 13:33Speaker 2: shit up. We going to talk about some of this
- 13:35Speaker 2: a little bit later, I suppose. The Knicks... Got him
- 13:39Speaker 2: up out of there. I am imagining that the Thunder
- 13:42Speaker 2: going to get to Laker. It's going to be a,
- 13:43Speaker 2: I mean, that was a, that was a one, two,
- 13:45Speaker 2: three Cancun classic in Philadelphia, boy.
- 13:47Speaker 7: Oh man.
- 13:48Speaker 2: That was a, I, I, I didn't even bother to
- 13:51Speaker 2: watch the game. I went to go see the Michael
- 13:52Speaker 2: Jackson movie.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Cause I was just like, for what?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And then I looked at the score during the movie
- 13:58Speaker 2: and I.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Was like, oh, they got a direct flight for Philly
- 14:00Speaker 3: to Cancun. I didn't know they had flights to Cancun
- 14:02Speaker 3: that late. But Dave's like, this motherfucker's like, yo, we
- 14:04Speaker 3: got a flight to catch us up.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I mean, that was a 3.30 tip. They were trying
- 14:07Speaker 4: to make their 8 o'clock flight.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 3: They're like, hey, hey, hey, we got to go.
- 14:10Speaker 2: No, no, no. No media.
- 14:12Speaker 3: No media. Just box up my locker.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Just send it to me. I don't even need to.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I don't need to be back for that. I guess
- 14:18Speaker 2: we're going to see what happens with the Cavs and
- 14:21Speaker 2: the Pistons. The Pistons, we're going to see if they
- 14:22Speaker 2: want to get them out of there. Jim Harden decided
- 14:24Speaker 2: to show up and play a little bit, just enough basketball,
- 14:27Speaker 2: so we can say he played a little bit of
- 14:28Speaker 2: basketball today. But now everybody's trying to get this out
- 14:32Speaker 2: of here so we can get ourselves a couple of
- 14:34Speaker 2: nights to get ready for the conference finals where we
- 14:36Speaker 2: only got one game per night.
- 14:38Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? We could all make 30 tips.
- 14:40Speaker 2: We could be crisp. We could be at our best.
- 14:43Speaker 2: But now Victor had to prove a point to somebody.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But I love that he did. All right, so they
- 14:56Speaker 2: really be trying to make too much of the draft lottery.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Can I just go ahead and say that now? Like
- 15:00Speaker 2: back in the day, all we need is the draft
- 15:03Speaker 2: lottery back when it just looked like the Godfather scene
- 15:07Speaker 2: at the train station where they was talking about selling dope. Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Where they just go around and you get like Bruno Tattaglia.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Combing his hair and they just identify all the people
- 15:15Speaker 2: in the same scene in.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Godfather 2 in Cuba.
- 15:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:19Speaker 2: And they just went around and talked about everybody that
- 15:21Speaker 2: was there.
- 15:22Speaker 3: That's all we need the lottery to be. It looked
- 15:24Speaker 3: like it was 15,000 people there. Like, what was this
- 15:27Speaker 3: huge audience?
- 15:29Speaker 4: Got all the players there.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I do like seeing the random folks, representatives from each team.
- 15:35Speaker 4: It's like, oh, Tayshaun Prince. I know he worked for
- 15:37Speaker 4: the Grizzlies.
- 15:39Speaker 3: So that I appreciate, right? And when they're like, hey,
- 15:42Speaker 3: could you go sit there for us, John Wall?
- 15:44Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Hey, Khan, what you up to, bro? You doing anything?
- 15:48Speaker 2: You doing anything for Mother's Day? Well, me and my mom, yeah, anyway,
- 15:51Speaker 2: we was just hoping if you could be a good
- 15:52Speaker 2: luck charm, perhaps, and go with us.
- 15:54Speaker 3: To the draft, right?
- 15:55Speaker 2: But all those other people who were there, I get
- 15:58Speaker 2: it in the sense that I guess it's an opportunity
- 16:02Speaker 2: to introduce the audience to the players, but they're not hooping.
- 16:06Speaker 2: They're just tall in suits. They could be anybody. out
- 16:10Speaker 2: there you know and they get to play up and
- 16:13Speaker 2: this this gets on my nerves too man you know
- 16:15Speaker 2: this is really about the mothers no it's not it's
- 16:18Speaker 2: mother's day but this ain't about them do you.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Think that's where they want to be yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Great point great boy they ain't get no ain't no
- 16:25Speaker 2: check today like this is this is some let me
- 16:28Speaker 2: know like these pancakes still still raw in the middle Right,
- 16:34Speaker 2: like all this is is flipping the pancake. Breakfast is
- 16:38Speaker 2: not ready. Why are we here? But anyway, the lottery
- 16:43Speaker 2: goes through. The Washington Wizards got the number one pick.
- 16:48Speaker 2: The Utah Jazz are at number two. The Memphis Grizzlies
- 16:52Speaker 2: were at number three. Number four was.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Chicago Bulls.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Chicago Bulls. And number five is the Los Angeles Clippers.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Okay.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Okay. The lottery did turn out to be interesting on
- 17:05Speaker 2: a few levels, okay? Number one, John Wall, I don't
- 17:10Speaker 2: know if you remember 30 years ago when the Sixers
- 17:13Speaker 2: won the lottery and Pat Croce went and dapped up everybody.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a little before my time.
- 17:18Speaker 3: That was at the podium.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I mean, Pat Croce was that guy, but Pat Croce
- 17:21Speaker 2: could not have possibly been happier. John Wall did not
- 17:27Speaker 2: seem to care a single solitary iota about about the
- 17:31Speaker 2: fact that they had won this lottery in a draft
- 17:33Speaker 2: that's got, in my estimation, three guys you'd love to
- 17:38Speaker 2: have as the number one pick. That would be Debonza, A.J. Debonza,
- 17:44Speaker 2: Darren Peterson, even with all the other stuff, right? I
- 17:47Speaker 2: think you're still pretty happy to get Darren Peterson.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And Caleb Wilson.
- 17:51Speaker 2: No, I do not have Cam Boozer on that list.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Cam Boozer looked like he had to work a little
- 17:57Speaker 2: bit too hard to get his buckets in college. And
- 17:59Speaker 2: I know I said this about Paolo Bancaro and people
- 18:02Speaker 2: thought I was just hating. And yes, both those dudes
- 18:03Speaker 2: went to Duke, but it should look easy when you're
- 18:06Speaker 2: in college. It did not look easy with Cam Boozer
- 18:10Speaker 2: in college. Like that's not, it's not a number one
- 18:13Speaker 2: compared to those other guys. Those guys have the potential
- 18:16Speaker 2: to be superstars. Cam Boozer will probably.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Be an all-star.
- 18:20Speaker 6: Right.
- 18:21Speaker 3: But he's not. I don't see it with those guys.
- 18:24Speaker 2: De Bonza is interesting to me because for those who
- 18:28Speaker 2: have not been paying attention, he went to high school
- 18:31Speaker 2: in Utah. He played for BYU because a gentleman named
- 18:36Speaker 2: Ryan Smith got him to the school in Utah and
- 18:39Speaker 2: then got him to BYU because it's the NIL world.
- 18:42Speaker 2: For those of you who don't know what Ryan Smith does,
- 18:46Speaker 2: he's the owner of the Utah Jazz. I don't get
- 18:49Speaker 2: the feeling that he put in this level of investment
- 18:52Speaker 2: just because he loved BYU that much. If you are
- 18:56Speaker 2: the Wizards and you are sold on Debonza, who to
- 19:00Speaker 2: me is the clear number one pick from what I've seen.
- 19:04Speaker 2: If that's your guy, what would it take for you
- 19:08Speaker 2: to move down to number two?
- 19:10Speaker 3: Because Utah is going to go to the playoffs next year.
- 19:13Speaker 3: They're not going to be bad.
- 19:14Speaker 2: So you can't just be like, oh, give us your
- 19:16Speaker 2: pick from next year. That's not going to work out. Like,
- 19:18Speaker 2: it's going to work out where they got whatever, if
- 19:21Speaker 2: you were to make this trade, right? You got DeBonsa,
- 19:24Speaker 2: Walker Kessler, who everybody wants to have and everybody wants
- 19:28Speaker 2: to trade for, but has been on these terrible teams.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Now you'll get to actually be good at basketball and
- 19:32Speaker 2: do things for a team that wants to be good
- 19:34Speaker 2: at basketball.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Jaron Jackson is on that roster.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Ace Bailey.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Ace Bailey.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Keontae George, who's at a borderline all-star sort of place.
- 19:43Speaker 2: What do you need to get back in order to
- 19:45Speaker 2: make that move? Because I think you got a live
- 19:48Speaker 2: one in Smith. and that you could, what's he willing
- 19:52Speaker 2: to give up?
- 19:53Speaker 3: What will you take? Because you're just not.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Going to convince me that he's just going to be
- 19:56Speaker 2: satisfied after all of this to not make a try
- 20:01Speaker 2: at getting to Boston.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Not make an offer. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Something's got to happen there.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Meanwhile, for the Wizards, I don't know what they're going
- 20:09Speaker 2: to do ultimately with Anthony Davis and Trey Young. But
- 20:15Speaker 2: those two guys went to Bonsa. That feels like a
- 20:16Speaker 2: playoff team.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a real NBA team.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Yeah, they're an actual factual NBA team that will not
- 20:22Speaker 2: win 50 games because I'm 45 years old and the
- 20:25Speaker 2: Wizards haven't won 50 games in my life. I have
- 20:31Speaker 2: been using that stat for nearly 20 years in this job,
- 20:36Speaker 2: and it still hits like it did the first time.
- 20:39Speaker 4: It's incredible.
- 20:40Speaker 2: It just keeps happening. But something happened also in this
- 20:46Speaker 2: lottery that was interesting, which is the Indiana Pacers made
- 20:52Speaker 2: a trade for Ivica Zubats this year, who played for
- 20:58Speaker 2: the Clippers.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Big man, good player, okay? Here's what the haul now is, right?
- 21:06Speaker 2: The trade. Evita Zubat and Kobe Brown went to the
- 21:09Speaker 2: Clippers in return for Benedict Mathurin, who I thought was
- 21:13Speaker 2: going to be a good player. Isaiah Jackson, the number
- 21:19Speaker 2: five pick in the draft. There's a 2029 first round
- 21:24Speaker 2: pick that's involved in this.
- 21:26Speaker 3: And I think it might be another pick.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Right. And so the thing with the pick was there
- 21:31Speaker 2: was some protection scheme in play that if the pick
- 21:34Speaker 2: was between five and nine and went to the Clippers,
- 21:37Speaker 2: if it was in the ping pong or outside, it
- 21:40Speaker 2: went to Indiana. OK.
- 21:43Speaker 3: They lost.
- 21:43Speaker 2: They're all snake eyes.
- 21:45Speaker 3: The pick goes to the Clippers.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Big win for them because you can still get a
- 21:48Speaker 2: very good player at the number five pick in this
- 21:51Speaker 2: draft that everybody did all the taking in the world for.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Put a pin in the thought about all the taking
- 21:55Speaker 3: in the world. But anyway, you still have this possibility.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Kevin Pritchard, who used to be the GM in Portland
- 22:02Speaker 2: and is now the GM in Indiana. He sent a
- 22:07Speaker 2: tweet apologizing for making that trade. Apologizing for making that
- 22:16Speaker 2: trade after the pick didn't go their way. And his
- 22:19Speaker 2: explanation for why he apologized, or no, the explanation for
- 22:22Speaker 2: why the trade. And Ryan, you tell him that if
- 22:27Speaker 2: I'm lying, I'm flying. He just thought that they were, quote,
- 22:32Speaker 2: do some luck, unquote. So, so we're clear. If you
- 22:38Speaker 2: believe this explanation, he made that trade feeling certain that
- 22:42Speaker 2: the Pacers were going to get to keep their pick.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And the reason was they were due some good luck.
- 22:51Speaker 4: To be clear, this is not reported. This is his
- 22:53Speaker 4: words on the Twitter.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yes. He said, quote, do some luck, unquote. I would
- 23:03Speaker 2: fire him today.
- 23:06Speaker 3: That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life.
- 23:09Speaker 2: And a couple weeks ago, somebody said to my face
- 23:12Speaker 2: that the characters in The Wire didn't have no depth.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I don't want you to think I say that every
- 23:18Speaker 2: time I hear something that I think something's the dumbest
- 23:20Speaker 2: shit in my life. No, there's a new champion. The
- 23:23Speaker 2: new champion is Kevin Pritchard. He just thought that we
- 23:27Speaker 2: would do some luck. And look, man, me and Ryan
- 23:30Speaker 2: talked about this during the break. If he had said,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I thought God was on our side, I'd have been
- 23:37Speaker 2: more okay with that.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And I'm going to tell you why.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Because people don't think God is luck. He thinks God
- 23:45Speaker 2: is real. If you say that, and maybe you just
- 23:48Speaker 2: read the tea leaves wrong.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Or whatever it was.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Kevin Pritchard truly believed we're due was a strategy.
- 23:58Speaker 4: That's 100%, you know, going all in because we're going
- 24:01Speaker 4: to win this hand. Yes, yes.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I mean, I can't lose nine hands in a row.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 24:08Speaker 2: So put the rest of the money on this one.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Exactly. We're due for good cards.
- 24:13Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:14Speaker 3: He did that with, nah, man, when this happens and
- 24:17Speaker 3: you lost, what do you say to the fans?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Nothing at all. We have nothing to talk about.
- 24:24Speaker 2: If we had had a pick, we'd have something to
- 24:26Speaker 2: talk about. We don't have a pick. We have nothing
- 24:29Speaker 2: to talk about. I feel bad for him in this regard.
- 24:32Speaker 2: People in Indiana had been figuring it out, boy. They
- 24:36Speaker 2: had been like, hey, man, boy, we get that top
- 24:39Speaker 2: four pick. Halliburton comes back. Our roster going to be loaded.
- 24:42Speaker 2: We might have DeBonsa. We might have all these people.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And they came back with nothing. Nothing but a handful
- 24:49Speaker 2: of meat. That's all they came back with. That had
- 24:52Speaker 2: to be terrible. Shout out to the league, though, because, man,
- 24:56Speaker 2: We thought Oklahoma City, the way things had been going. Now,
- 24:59Speaker 2: they'll just simply have a lottery pick, right? They have
- 25:02Speaker 2: a dude named A.J. Mitchell, of whom I had never heard,
- 25:06Speaker 2: who was a second-round pick, who had 24 points or
- 25:08Speaker 2: something like that the other day. They out here finding
- 25:11Speaker 2: dudes off the street, and they got a lottery pick.
- 25:15Speaker 3: They're getting the stupid Sixers to give them Jared.
- 25:17Speaker 2: McCain for a first-round pick they obviously don't need. And
- 25:21Speaker 2: they got another first-round pick. That's... That's what we got.
- 25:28Speaker 2: And we also got out of this lottery your explanation
- 25:30Speaker 2: for why it is that the league wanted to flatten
- 25:34Speaker 2: the lottery odds and all this stuff. Because through the years,
- 25:37Speaker 2: tanking hadn't really been effective for anybody. Hadn't really gotten
- 25:41Speaker 2: anybody what they were looking for. And this year, all
- 25:46Speaker 2: the teams that we saw shamelessly tank. The ones we
- 25:50Speaker 2: saw tank probably the most shamelessly. Washington, Utah, Memphis. One, two, three. Or,
- 26:01Speaker 2: and I guess this doesn't matter because it wasn't their pick,
- 26:04Speaker 2: the Clippers who traded James Harden after they started picking
- 26:06Speaker 2: their season up. Like, the cheaters never prosper.
- 26:11Speaker 8: Nah, nah, nah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: That hasn't been what this has looked like.
- 26:15Speaker 3: That's not what this has been. Did you look at
- 26:17Speaker 3: the Atlantic article on Adam Silver, by the way?
- 26:20Speaker 4: I have not. It is on my list, but I'm
- 26:22Speaker 4: a big Tim Alberta guy, so I'm excited to read it.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Okay. I didn't think he did good with this.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Well, I thought it was supposed to be an article
- 26:31Speaker 3: about Adam Silk.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, he's not a, he's not a traditional
- 26:34Speaker 4: sports writer. So it's very, I'm very interested to see
- 26:37Speaker 4: what your criticism is.
- 26:38Speaker 2: It was way too much about Tim Alberta, way too
- 26:41Speaker 2: much first person. Yeah. And I think anybody who wrote
- 26:43Speaker 2: the piece I wrote, read the piece I wrote for
- 26:45Speaker 2: Vanity Fair, you will, you can glean from that my
- 26:48Speaker 2: feelings about first person stuff in profiles of other people.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Um, It made some interesting points, right?
- 26:55Speaker 2: It did feel a little bit too much like, why
- 26:58Speaker 2: isn't this the NBA that I used to love, which
- 27:00Speaker 2: I don't think is an adequate grievance against the league necessarily.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I think it made.
- 27:06Speaker 2: A lot of points about what it didn't like about
- 27:08Speaker 2: the league, but did not really support or give a
- 27:11Speaker 2: proper evidentiary basis for what it was. It raises the question, basically,
- 27:15Speaker 2: is Adam Silver too nice to be the commissioner, which
- 27:17Speaker 2: I think is a fair question. It raised the question
- 27:21Speaker 2: as to whether or not the only thing Adam Silver
- 27:22Speaker 2: cares about with this league is money, which I don't
- 27:26Speaker 2: think is true. I think one thing Adam Silver cares
- 27:28Speaker 2: very much so about in this league is the players
- 27:32Speaker 2: in the league and their well-being and whether this league
- 27:34Speaker 2: is serving them as partners. Now, whether that's the job
- 27:37Speaker 2: of the commissioner, that is a very interesting question.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Do you not think serving the players and making the
- 27:45Speaker 4: most money is the same thing as the players are
- 27:48Speaker 4: entitled to?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Well, Adam is the guy to talk about their mental
- 27:51Speaker 2: health and things like that, for example. Them as formed
- 27:54Speaker 2: human beings, not simply as people who are looking to
- 27:59Speaker 2: make money. But this lottery proves the difficulty of this job, man.
- 28:04Speaker 2: This is a draft that people think has four, maybe
- 28:07Speaker 2: five perennial all-star type players. And when I say perennial,
- 28:12Speaker 2: I mean like seven, eight, nine, ten-time all-star type players.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Regardless of what I think of Boozer, that's what people think.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And those guys are going to Washington, which is actually,
- 28:24Speaker 2: I think.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Very good for the league. But Memphis, Utah, the Clippers,
- 28:29Speaker 3: not bad for the league, but you'd rather them go
- 28:32Speaker 3: to the Lakers.
- 28:34Speaker 4: I mean, Chicago hasn't been well-run.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Chicago had Michael Jordan that one time.
- 28:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 6: Right?
- 28:41Speaker 2: Like I've said before, There is not a nation of
- 28:47Speaker 2: Bulls fans, even after all that time with Michael Jordan.
- 28:49Speaker 2: How crazy is that?
- 28:51Speaker 4: Feels impossible.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Right. There are still a nation of Georgetown fans. You
- 28:55Speaker 2: don't hear about them very much because they don't come up.
- 28:57Speaker 2: But everybody left the Bulls after Mike left. For whatever
- 29:01Speaker 2: it is, right? Like that thing happened.
- 29:03Speaker 3: But no, man, it's a tricky, tricky, tricky, tricky job.
- 29:08Speaker 2: And in a league where David Stern used to say
- 29:10Speaker 2: that his dream NBA finals is the Lakers and the Lakers.
- 29:14Speaker 2: You're sending guys to Utah and Memphis. Well, well, at
- 29:19Speaker 2: least we can watch them on all the streaming services.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Let me tell you one more thing about that article, Ryan.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Tim Alberta made the point. It starts off with him
- 29:26Speaker 2: having to track down Adam Silver and how Silver wouldn't
- 29:29Speaker 2: do the interview with him unless Mike Bass, the PR man,
- 29:31Speaker 2: said it was okay. And Mike Bass kept saying no,
- 29:33Speaker 2: and Adam Silver's like, hey, he's you know he says
- 29:35Speaker 2: we can't do it all this stuff and they described
- 29:40Speaker 2: silver as being like covered in bubble wrap that they
- 29:44Speaker 2: worked very hard to protect him and should i be
- 29:50Speaker 2: offended that the nba has consented to be adam interviewing
- 29:53Speaker 2: adam silver not once but twice like y'all saying i'm
- 29:57Speaker 2: soft Is that what this is?
- 29:58Speaker 3: Y'all saying, y'all got to be scared of me?
- 30:00Speaker 2: A little humbling. Just a little. You can predict the

- 33:44Speaker 7: Now, if you haven't heard.
- 33:47Speaker 4: All right, Bo, if you haven't heard, on Friday was
- 33:51Speaker 4: the reunion of Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on
- 33:53Speaker 4: First Take. People have seemed to very much have different
- 33:59Speaker 4: opinions of bringing back the show for the first time
- 34:02Speaker 4: in 10 years online. What did you think?
- 34:04Speaker 2: Okay, so I watched the show. And I watch first
- 34:09Speaker 2: take fairly regularly.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I'm at home, right?
- 34:12Speaker 2: I work in sports. It comes on. I have consistently
- 34:16Speaker 2: watched it, you know, for however many years I have
- 34:18Speaker 2: appeared on the show at different points. I have histories,
- 34:22Speaker 2: not always good with both of those guys, right? I
- 34:27Speaker 2: have always felt about the class of people who critique
- 34:32Speaker 2: sports media when they talk about first take that, First
- 34:38Speaker 2: take is an easy scapegoat for them. Because as another
- 34:40Speaker 2: buddy of mine who covers the media has made a
- 34:42Speaker 2: very important point, and I think it's worth noting, what's
- 34:46Speaker 2: really the difference between first take and PTI? They're built
- 34:52Speaker 2: very similarly. PTI, obviously the difference is 30 minutes versus
- 34:56Speaker 2: two hours, and PTI is a much more regimented show. Boom, boom, boom.
- 34:59Speaker 2: We're going to get to all these things or whatever
- 35:01Speaker 2: it is. But you're telling me, Mike and Tony, don't
- 35:03Speaker 2: be hollering at each other.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:04Speaker 3: You're telling me that.
- 35:05Speaker 2: There's no room for hyperbole there. You're telling me there's
- 35:08Speaker 2: no discussion about legacy there. You're telling me that Michael
- 35:10Speaker 2: Wilbon is never going to get up there and tell
- 35:12Speaker 2: you how LeBron James will never be as good as
- 35:14Speaker 2: Michael Jordan.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Right.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Like you're telling me none of those things ever happened there.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Those guys are not going to have a discussion about
- 35:19Speaker 2: whether somebody quit or any of those things. Like, are
- 35:22Speaker 2: you are you really trying to tell me that? Because
- 35:25Speaker 2: I don't think that's true. And I don't say that
- 35:27Speaker 2: as a criticism of those guys and obviously the people
- 35:29Speaker 2: that were in that show. I've worked with them or
- 35:32Speaker 2: known them for over 15 years, okay? This isn't a
- 35:35Speaker 2: criticism of them. This is a criticism of the people
- 35:37Speaker 2: who go so hard on first take, and I don't
- 35:40Speaker 2: think that we can ignore the fact that first take,
- 35:44Speaker 2: I've known Jamie Horowitz for a long time.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Ryan, you have worked with Jamie Horowitz, right?
- 35:48Speaker 4: Right.
- 35:49Speaker 2: A big thing to understand about Jamie Horowitz and the
- 35:52Speaker 2: way that he makes sports media. And Jamie, for those
- 35:54Speaker 2: who don't know, when he used to be First take
- 35:57Speaker 2: of cold pizza, and it would just be first and
- 35:59Speaker 2: ten with Skip. When Jamie Horowitz took over that show,
- 36:01Speaker 2: he was like, people watch Skip the most, so why
- 36:03Speaker 2: don't we make the whole show about Skip? The move
- 36:06Speaker 2: toward the embrace debate sort of format comes from Jamie Horowitz.
- 36:10Speaker 4: And when people watched Skip, when Stephen A was a
- 36:14Speaker 4: contributor on ESPN, not on full-time, they're like, this is
- 36:17Speaker 4: what people watch the most. Let's do this all the time.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Yes, that's how Jamie does things.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But the other thing with Jamie is, Jamie, unlike most
- 36:25Speaker 2: people who work in sports media, is like, hey, look
- 36:28Speaker 2: at all these black people watching this show. Why don't
- 36:31Speaker 2: we think about a show that these black people will like?
- 36:35Speaker 2: So it becomes the show that has the Lil Wayne
- 36:37Speaker 2: rap intro, for example, and all these things. Daytime programming
- 36:40Speaker 2: at ESPN had always had a huge black audience. I
- 36:44Speaker 2: bring that up to say, generally speaking, white people don't
- 36:47Speaker 2: really know what to do when they watch something and
- 36:49Speaker 2: they get the signal that it ain't for them.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Black people typically keep on watching, right?
- 36:55Speaker 2: But a lot of those criticisms of First Take, I
- 36:58Speaker 2: have always heard in a way and have felt to
- 37:01Speaker 2: a degree like they were also a wee bit like
- 37:03Speaker 2: criticisms of the audience, whether people intended for it to
- 37:07Speaker 2: be that way or not. The other point that I
- 37:10Speaker 2: think is worth, and this is about to say, not
- 37:11Speaker 2: to say that First Take is a show that has
- 37:13Speaker 2: not earned its criticism over time, but I contend on
- 37:18Speaker 2: the internet, and this is not just people who are
- 37:20Speaker 2: professional critics, as is the case with most things, the
- 37:25Speaker 2: loudest critics are the people who don't watch the show.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Because if you hated it that much, you wouldn't actually
- 37:33Speaker 2: watch it. I try to be careful about not having
- 37:36Speaker 2: passionate opinions about things I don't consume. I think that's
- 37:40Speaker 2: an important thing to keep in mind at all times.
- 37:42Speaker 2: You watch something once or twice and you didn't like it,
- 37:44Speaker 2: you don't know. You just don't.
- 37:46Speaker 3: It's okay to say you didn't like it, but you
- 37:48Speaker 3: don't know.
- 37:48Speaker 2: I say all that to say that People act like
- 37:53Speaker 2: first take became such a big deal because nobody liked it.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Right?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Like, just because your friends didn't like it, you think
- 38:01Speaker 2: that nobody liked it.
- 38:03Speaker 3: And that's not true.
- 38:04Speaker 2: There are a lot of people who like that show.
- 38:06Speaker 2: There are a lot of people who watch that show.
- 38:07Speaker 2: There were a lot of topics.
- 38:09Speaker 3: That when something happened in the news, you're like, yo,
- 38:12Speaker 3: I got.
- 38:12Speaker 2: To go see what Skip Bayless has to say about that.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And a lot of y'all don't want to admit that's
- 38:17Speaker 2: how you felt about it, but it's the truth. And
- 38:19Speaker 2: that's the hallmark to how good that show could be
- 38:22Speaker 2: when those two guys were doing it. And the reason
- 38:25Speaker 2: that show could be so good when those two guys
- 38:27Speaker 2: were doing it is because those two guys have arguments
- 38:30Speaker 2: for being the two best ever at doing television along
- 38:34Speaker 2: those lines. They're excellent at it. Now, the other day,
- 38:39Speaker 2: I was talking about with Dominique, talking about Draymond and
- 38:43Speaker 2: what happened with him on Inside the NBA. And a
- 38:45Speaker 2: point I was trying to make that I think some
- 38:46Speaker 2: people misunderstood was that You got to trust the people
- 38:51Speaker 2: that you're with to really be in there like joking
- 38:54Speaker 2: with each other and needling.
- 38:55Speaker 4: And arguing on television for 10 hours a week.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Yes. That's what Tony and Mike have on PTI is
- 39:01Speaker 2: that right home always makes this point that they can
- 39:04Speaker 2: go hard at each other. And then at the end,
- 39:07Speaker 2: one of them always does something to remind the other, hey, baby,
- 39:10Speaker 2: I still love you.
- 39:11Speaker 3: And then everything goes okay.
- 39:13Speaker 2: But you have to have a rapport and affection and
- 39:16Speaker 2: a trust in order to get that place. And so
- 39:18Speaker 2: what that allows your TV show to do is to
- 39:21Speaker 2: get more passionate when the guys trust each other, but
- 39:24Speaker 2: it also allows it to keep an air of levity.
- 39:27Speaker 3: That is necessary.
- 39:27Speaker 2: You don't want to feel like the two guys don't
- 39:29Speaker 2: like each other. I've done a TV show where it
- 39:31Speaker 2: looked like the two guys didn't like each other. It
- 39:33Speaker 2: got canceled, right? You can't have that vibe. First take
- 39:37Speaker 2: when it works at its best is because those two guys,
- 39:42Speaker 2: it's not that they're the only two guys that they
- 39:44Speaker 2: like or each other. But they're the only two that
- 39:48Speaker 2: each other trust in that way that they could go
- 39:51Speaker 2: back and forth as equals. Like Stephen A can play
- 39:54Speaker 2: it up real big when somebody gets him.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Oh, you got me. You got me and everything else.
- 39:59Speaker 2: And he's being magnanimous to a guest or somebody else
- 40:02Speaker 2: who's on a show. But those two guys could only
- 40:04Speaker 2: share that show with each other. That's the only place
- 40:08Speaker 2: they could. And so at its best, it was a
- 40:11Speaker 2: good show. And there were days where it could be
- 40:14Speaker 2: really enjoyable to watch. And there were days where you
- 40:16Speaker 2: saw a certain measure of self-awareness, like way.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Back when, when they did that dark night debate back
- 40:21Speaker 3: and forth.
- 40:21Speaker 2: That was a demonstration of a measure of self-awareness. Now,
- 40:24Speaker 2: what I think with that show, doing it together every day,
- 40:29Speaker 2: like when it was, they did it once or twice
- 40:30Speaker 2: a week together, it kind of jumped off the page, right?
- 40:33Speaker 2: When they did it every day, of course, it's going
- 40:35Speaker 2: to get a little bit old. when you get to
- 40:38Speaker 2: that point, right? But I, it was nostalgically good for me.
- 40:43Speaker 4: They were having a great time.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Two guys who really enjoy each other's company and really
- 40:49Speaker 2: respect each other, arguing with each other about sports wins.
- 40:55Speaker 2: It goes, it works. The other thing, and I think
- 40:59Speaker 2: this is something that people need to understand. Colin Cowherd,
- 41:03Speaker 2: as an example, is an excellent midday radio host right
- 41:08Speaker 2: and i don't need to get into what exactly a
- 41:10Speaker 2: midday host is and i say this is somebody who
- 41:12Speaker 2: considers himself a midday host midday host is a various
- 41:14Speaker 2: particular brand of person collins an excellent midday host i
- 41:18Speaker 2: don't enjoy listening to his show it's not for me
- 41:22Speaker 2: right every now and then he says something i like
- 41:24Speaker 2: but how whether or not i like his show is
- 41:27Speaker 2: not about whether or not his show is good you
- 41:30Speaker 2: know what i mean right I don't care how you
- 41:33Speaker 2: feel about Skip Bayless. He is a beast.
- 41:36Speaker 3: He is excellent at this.
- 41:37Speaker 2: And what that show was a reminder of and watching
- 41:40Speaker 2: it on Friday, all that crazy shit that Skip got
- 41:42Speaker 2: to say, Skip ready to back it all up. Skip
- 41:46Speaker 2: showed up to the night before I got on Twitter
- 41:47Speaker 2: and said, LeBron is the ninth best player.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Of all time.
- 41:51Speaker 2: And they showed up on TV with his top 10
- 41:54Speaker 2: and explanations. You may not have agreed with it, but
- 41:56Speaker 2: I had to say when I got to the end,
- 41:57Speaker 2: I was like, I see how you could arrive at
- 42:00Speaker 2: this ridiculous conclusion.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:02Speaker 2: But that's what Skip's got. Skip says the crazy thing.
- 42:05Speaker 2: And then by the time you get to the end
- 42:07Speaker 2: off and you're like, I don't necessarily agree, but maybe
- 42:10Speaker 2: it's not that crazy.
- 42:11Speaker 4: There's always there's all his opinion is always well thought out.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Like the LeBron thing.
- 42:19Speaker 2: Look, man, you stepped on that dope. He wasn't supposed
- 42:21Speaker 2: to play this long. Right, right. Like this gag wasn't
- 42:23Speaker 2: supposed to continue to go on for as long as
- 42:26Speaker 2: it had or whatever. But there was a time where
- 42:28Speaker 2: Skip looked like a soothsayer in 2010 and 2011.
- 42:32Speaker 3: He looked like the dude who was finally right or whatever.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Anyway, I say all that to say I disagree with
- 42:38Speaker 2: the idea that First Take is responsible for everything that
- 42:41Speaker 2: became wrong about sports television.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I think it's a very easy thing for people to
- 42:47Speaker 2: point to and say, you don't blame sports talk radio
- 42:51Speaker 2: all across the country with people far less talented than
- 42:54Speaker 2: those people screaming and typically being far more hurtful and
- 42:58Speaker 2: hateful when they're talking about people because they're in the
- 43:00Speaker 2: silo of their local markets.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Like you can't sit up there and tell me how
- 43:04Speaker 2: much you love Mad Dog Russo and then say you
- 43:06Speaker 2: got a problem with them.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Right? Mac and the Mad Dog. They're your guys.
- 43:10Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. Much of the criticism of
- 43:14Speaker 2: that show has to do with whom that show serves.
- 43:17Speaker 2: And I don't think that people who engage in that
- 43:20Speaker 2: even fully realize that that's what they're doing. But I
- 43:23Speaker 2: think it's somewhat undeniable that that's a part of it.
- 43:25Speaker 2: So I thought that it was good. And if you
- 43:28Speaker 2: tell me that Skip's going to be back once every.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Couple weeks, I'll watch that.
- 43:31Speaker 2: If you tell me Skip's going to be back.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Every day, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 43:35Speaker 4: I'll pass.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Right?
- 43:36Speaker 2: I'm not going to do that.
- 43:37Speaker 6: Right.
- 43:39Speaker 2: But they the other reason they're great for each other.
- 43:41Speaker 2: And I'll say this and go. Skip thinks God put
- 43:45Speaker 2: him on this earth to argue about sports. Literally.
- 43:49Speaker 3: He takes this way seriously. He is here to win
- 43:53Speaker 3: every debate.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 43:55Speaker 2: And it works with those two in a way that
- 43:57Speaker 2: like I don't think it worked before Stephen got there
- 43:59Speaker 2: because Skip also believes he's never lost a debate. And
- 44:03Speaker 2: he believes that he can structure the debate to make sure.
- 44:07Speaker 2: that he never loses a debate, which in part involves
- 44:11Speaker 2: making sure he has opponents that he knows he can beat.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Remember that time I told you that they told me
- 44:20Speaker 2: I wouldn't go be on the show no more?
- 44:21Speaker 4: Yes.
- 44:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Right?
- 44:25Speaker 2: Stephen A is the one guy that he respects enough, truly,
- 44:30Speaker 2: that maybe he doesn't win them all, but they'll go
- 44:33Speaker 2: back and forth, and then at the end, they'll come
- 44:35Speaker 2: back on the other side. And when that works, that
- 44:38Speaker 2: is what makes good television, even if it's not your
- 44:42Speaker 2: favorite show.
- 44:44Speaker 4: All right. Tough news in the Atlanta area. Manager Bobby
- 44:48Speaker 4: Cox passed away at the age of 84. He, of course,
- 44:54Speaker 4: managed the Braves from 1990 to 2010. Bo, Braves being
- 44:59Speaker 4: your favorite team, what was your reaction to this news?
- 45:01Speaker 2: So Bobby has always been an interesting figure because for
- 45:04Speaker 2: me personally, Before he became the manager, he was, and
- 45:09Speaker 2: you got to remember, this is a different era of
- 45:11Speaker 2: sports coverage, and obviously I was much younger, but he
- 45:14Speaker 2: was the general manager of the team. So he managed
- 45:17Speaker 2: the team until 1982, fired him, and then hired Joe Torre,
- 45:21Speaker 2: which people, I think, don't quite realize.
- 45:23Speaker 4: I didn't realize that.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Joe Torre replaced him, and they won the division
- 45:26Speaker 2: in 82. So I think they fired Cox after 81, maybe.
- 45:33Speaker 2: But then they hired Joe Torrey, won the division in 82,
- 45:36Speaker 2: fired him in 84. In my house, the explanation always
- 45:38Speaker 2: was they fired Joe Torrey because he wouldn't fire Bob
- 45:40Speaker 2: Gibson as his pitching coach. I don't know if that's
- 45:43Speaker 2: the case, right? That's the kind of thing my daddy
- 45:45Speaker 2: would say. But it's on the board.
- 45:47Speaker 3: It's possible.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Yeah, not that far out there.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Well, let me tell you what's also possible. Joe Torrey
- 45:52Speaker 2: being like, I ain't firing Bob Gibson.
- 45:53Speaker 3: You fire Bob Gibson.
- 45:55Speaker 4: Yeah, you go tell Bob Gibson he's fired.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you go tell him. You go, you go tell them,
- 45:59Speaker 3: and I'm sure they did it on the phone.
- 46:02Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Long distance call.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:05Speaker 2: But Bobby built that team and then went to manage it, right?
- 46:09Speaker 2: Bobby makes the trade for Doyle Alexander that gets John Smoltz.
- 46:11Speaker 2: But I think Bobby's the one where you draft... um,
- 46:15Speaker 2: Tom Glavin, like all of these things, they got, sure.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Holtz became the general manager in 90, right before the
- 46:19Speaker 2: 91 season, but that's what they did.
- 46:21Speaker 3: You know, that's how it went.
- 46:22Speaker 2: And so he went from being this, like this, the
- 46:25Speaker 2: guy upstairs, and then they fired Russ Nixon and now
- 46:28Speaker 2: Bobby Cox.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Is the manager, but I don't know anything about him.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Right.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I don't really know much about the Toronto days or
- 46:32Speaker 2: any of that other stuff. And I tell people this
- 46:35Speaker 2: all the time, no matter what happens in this world,
- 46:37Speaker 2: you can never take 1991 away from me. like the
- 46:40Speaker 2: the world series in 95 was great but the second
- 46:42Speaker 2: half of the 1991 season is everything in the world
- 46:45Speaker 2: to me for being i want to say 30 i
- 46:48Speaker 2: can't remember the record but i know at one point
- 46:49Speaker 2: they were like 38 and 40 or something like that
- 46:51Speaker 2: came back won the division on the last week of
- 46:52Speaker 2: the season everything else and those of you who know
- 46:54Speaker 2: me and have listened to me forever that those braves
- 46:57Speaker 2: are the most important like the first thing i ever
- 46:58Speaker 2: loved that wasn't about family right like i would say
- 47:00Speaker 2: the first thing i ever made a choice to love
- 47:02Speaker 2: in this world was the atlanta braves and 15 years,
- 47:06Speaker 2: are we going to be good no matter what, right?
- 47:09Speaker 2: As a manager, we talk about the years they had
- 47:11Speaker 2: all the pitching, but they didn't always have all the pitching.
- 47:13Speaker 2: And then some years they didn't have the pitching. And
- 47:15Speaker 2: then they won with hitting all the time. And then
- 47:16Speaker 2: this year the bullpen was excellent. And then this year
- 47:19Speaker 2: it wasn't. But every year something different was going to happen.
- 47:21Speaker 2: You may not win a World Series, and it's real
- 47:23Speaker 2: easy to get frustrated with that. And people can say
- 47:25Speaker 2: that this is not a dynasty because they only won
- 47:26Speaker 2: one World Series. Fine, I don't give a fuck about that.
- 47:29Speaker 2: It was so much fun to root for that team
- 47:33Speaker 2: and the steadying force and the constant at every turn
- 47:36Speaker 2: was Bobby Cox, right? The other thing with Cox, obviously,
- 47:40Speaker 2: is that he's all-time leader in getting ejected. And the
- 47:43Speaker 2: only criticism I have with him for those ejections was
- 47:46Speaker 2: they were never fun enough for us. Like you go
- 47:49Speaker 2: out there and he just start talking and you'd be like.
- 47:51Speaker 3: Damn, what did he say?
- 47:53Speaker 2: Cause they were like, give me some Earl Weaver, man.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Turn your cap around, kick some dirt around, all of
- 47:58Speaker 3: that stuff. It would never be that. It was like,
- 48:00Speaker 3: his problem was he could never go back.
- 48:02Speaker 4: Right?
- 48:02Speaker 3: Like he'd go out there and just keep going, keep going.
- 48:05Speaker 2: And then finally they're like, we gotta, we gotta, we
- 48:09Speaker 2: gotta get you out of there.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 48:11Speaker 3: Like that was, that was it.
- 48:13Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 3: So Bobby dying.
- 48:14Speaker 2: I mean, it wraps a lot for that era. I mean,
- 48:20Speaker 2: obviously the players still here.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Chip is still alive.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Andrew just went to the Hall of Fame. Glavin, Maddox, Smoltz,
- 48:26Speaker 2: all these guys. It's not like these guys are gone.
- 48:28Speaker 2: There's also a great opportunity to tell the Braves it's
- 48:31Speaker 2: OK to retire Terry Pendleton's jersey. You should. The most
- 48:36Speaker 2: important player in this transition of this team becoming what
- 48:38Speaker 2: it was is him. Long story. We could talk about
- 48:41Speaker 2: another day. But now, man, Bobby meant something to a
- 48:45Speaker 2: lot of us because that team meant something to a
- 48:47Speaker 2: lot of us. And he is the most readily associated
- 48:53Speaker 2: voice or face of that team. And, you know, rest
- 48:58Speaker 2: in peace.
- 49:01Speaker 4: All right, Bo. A lot of good voicemails. Here's our first. Hey, Bomani.
- 49:11Speaker 6: This is David in New Orleans. Love the show. Got
- 49:13Speaker 6: a story about Ted Turner in Polite Society. So years ago,
- 49:18Speaker 6: I volunteered at a literary conference here in New Orleans,
- 49:23Speaker 6: and one of the main faculty was Robert Olin Butler,
- 49:28Speaker 6: who's a Pulitzer Prize-winning fiction writer, and whose wife had
- 49:33Speaker 6: just left him earlier that year for Ted Turner to
- 49:38Speaker 6: become one of his girlfriends. And it turned out this
- 49:42Speaker 6: conference was giving Ted Turner an award for the autobiography
- 49:47Speaker 6: he wrote, and mainly because he was willing to show up.
- 49:50Speaker 6: And so Robert Owen Butler is sitting there at the
- 49:54Speaker 6: dinner where Ted Turner is up on the stage with
- 49:59Speaker 6: Elizabeth Dewberry, Robert Owen Butler's ex-wife. And when he gets
- 50:03Speaker 6: up to accept the award, he says, I guess they
- 50:06Speaker 6: give this award to you if you write a great book.
- 50:09Speaker 6: And then he looks dead eye at Robert Olin Butler
- 50:13Speaker 6: and says, don't worry, Bob, you'll get one one day.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Have a good one. I love stories like that.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Yes. Especially like people at that age, just like the
- 50:29Speaker 4: less you care, the more interesting you are.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Well, I'm also very good at not knowing who that
- 50:34Speaker 2: person is. I was just talking to. Yeah.
- 50:36Speaker 3: I have that knack. No, I told you about Rich
- 50:41Speaker 3: Paul's story, right?
- 50:42Speaker 1: No.
- 50:42Speaker 3: First time I met Rich Paul, I was on the
- 50:44Speaker 3: floor in Miami.
- 50:45Speaker 2: This was 2013 or 14, somewhere in there. It was
- 50:49Speaker 2: after one of the Heat Finals games. And I'm talking
- 50:52Speaker 2: to Connor and I think Jamie, right?
- 50:54Speaker 3: And so we're there. And then somebody says, hey, have
- 50:56Speaker 3: you met Rich Paul? I had never met Rich Paul.
- 50:58Speaker 3: I'm talking to him.
- 50:59Speaker 2: And I don't think he knew exactly what Connor did.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Or maybe they had been talking. I don't remember the
- 51:03Speaker 2: particulars on that. But I just remember Rich looked at
- 51:06Speaker 2: Connor and said, oh, yeah, ESPN. I was just talking
- 51:09Speaker 2: to Bob from Disney a little earlier.
- 51:12Speaker 3: And Connor goes a little about Bob from Disney. Hey,
- 51:13Speaker 3: are you talking about Bob Iger?
- 51:18Speaker 2: And I don't, I don't use that. That is not
- 51:20Speaker 2: to shade Rich Paul at all. That is to say
- 51:24Speaker 2: that when you rep LeBron.
- 51:26Speaker 4: He's Bob.
- 51:27Speaker 3: He's just Bob from Disney.
- 51:29Speaker 5: Right.
- 51:29Speaker 3: You're like, you hold all the cards.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:31Speaker 3: And if I'm not.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Mistaken, Disney had a lot of Bob's kind of like
- 51:34Speaker 2: ESPN used to have a lot of Johns.
- 51:36Speaker 8: Yep.
- 51:36Speaker 3: This is like, wait, Did you just say Bob from Disney? Yeah,
- 51:39Speaker 3: Bob from Disney.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Incredible. All right, here's our next one.
- 51:46Speaker 5: What's going on, Bo and Ryan?
- 51:49Speaker 7: I have to credit you guys for introducing me and
- 51:53Speaker 7: you and the internet of people from Opelousas.
- 51:58Speaker 5: In my particular branch of the family, I was like
- 52:00Speaker 5: the last person I ever met up in Pennsylvania.
- 52:04Speaker 7: But, yeah, once I had, like, seen on social media, like.
- 52:09Speaker 5: People with Opelousas and how it was kind.
- 52:15Speaker 8: Of a shocker, and I just seen that rerun episode
- 52:18Speaker 8: of Seinfeld where Elaine was dating a guy, and he
- 52:23Speaker 8: swore that she was black, and he thought that she
- 52:27Speaker 8: was Latina. And so I was just wondering, like, have you.
- 52:31Speaker 7: Ever misconstrued somebody's background in your life.
- 52:35Speaker 5: Like I have an uncle, my aunt's husband.
- 52:37Speaker 8: Who he had a, I could have swore that.
- 52:42Speaker 7: He was a white guy. I thought my cousin was biracial.
- 52:46Speaker 7: But then I heard some of his views on social
- 52:49Speaker 7: political things. And if he was a white man, he'd
- 52:53Speaker 7: be like an uncle ruckus for them. So yeah, have
- 52:57Speaker 7: you ever misconstrued anybody that you know's background in ethnicity?
- 53:02Speaker 6: All right.
- 53:03Speaker 7: Not sure.
- 53:03Speaker 8: Keep going.
- 53:05Speaker 2: I mean, of course.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Isaiah Hartenstein.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Isaiah Hartenstein, way high on the list.
- 53:15Speaker 4: I know that's got to happen to him every day.
- 53:17Speaker 3: There's also a couple of twins in professional.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Sports that I know exactly what's going on there, but
- 53:23Speaker 2: I feel like we don't ever talk about it, so
- 53:25Speaker 2: I'm afraid to actually bring it up.
- 53:27Speaker 3: It's pretty obvious.
- 53:28Speaker 2: If you tried to drop a pencil through their hair,
- 53:30Speaker 2: you would know what time it was, but we only
- 53:32Speaker 2: talk about it during Latin month.
- 53:36Speaker 3: I just don't know what to do.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Did you figure out who I was talking about, Ryan?
- 53:40Speaker 4: Oh, I'm aware. I'm aware, and I will also not
- 53:44Speaker 4: betray anyone.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Right, like I don't know what to do. It sounds
- 53:47Speaker 2: like a decision has been made, but I saw a
- 53:50Speaker 2: picture of their uncle, and he might as well be the.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Ace of spades.
- 53:54Speaker 4: Actually, someone very close to him came up earlier in
- 53:56Speaker 4: the show.
- 53:56Speaker 2: That is true.
- 53:58Speaker 4: All right, here's our last one.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Hey, Bomani. This is Michael, a long-time listener. You know,
- 54:04Speaker 1: I was thinking about the Vrabel situation. And who would
- 54:08Speaker 1: be the funniest if they kept leaking all this to TMZ?
- 54:13Speaker 1: And I've come to the conclusion that I think the
- 54:16Speaker 1: only way that this story could get wilder is if
- 54:19Speaker 1: Jordan Hudson was the one leaking all this for her
- 54:23Speaker 1: guy Bill. What do you think?
- 54:28Speaker 2: Huh. I don't feel like she got any reason to
- 54:33Speaker 2: have any beef with Mike Vrabel.
- 54:37Speaker 4: I think she knows two people in love when she
- 54:39Speaker 4: sees them.
- 54:41Speaker 3: That's right. That's right.
- 54:42Speaker 2: That's right. That is love.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Like, this is my question.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Who was like, you still got that video from 2020?
- 54:52Speaker 2: You still got that 2021 video?
- 54:56Speaker 3: Let's send that out. And I will just make one
- 54:59Speaker 3: more point.
- 55:02Speaker 2: I frequently say that I am not really famous, but
- 55:05Speaker 2: I am certainly recognizable.
- 55:08Speaker 6: Right?
- 55:08Speaker 3: Like, certain places.
- 55:09Speaker 4: That's a good distinction.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Certain places, I am famous. I am not famous everywhere. Okay?
- 55:17Speaker 2: But one place I am very recognizable is at an arena.
- 55:21Speaker 3: At a stadium.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Somewhere around, you know, with a sporting event attached to it.
- 55:25Speaker 2: That would make sense. Okay?
- 55:29Speaker 3: If you're Mike Vrabel....
- 55:32Speaker 2: In 2021, your arena is Nashville. The whole city of Nashville.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Maybe you can lay low at the casino in Biloxi.
- 55:43Speaker 2: Maybe you can lay low somewhere in New York City.
- 55:45Speaker 2: There is no laying low in Nashville. And he was
- 55:49Speaker 2: walking around Nashville like he was invisible. What are you.
- 55:56Speaker 3: You better win a lot of games.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Is all I'm saying.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Ryan, in the schedule coming out in a couple of days.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Sure is. Thursday.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Hey, hey, that's, wait, let's see what the murderers roll.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Because their schedule is a monster this year.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yes. Especially compared to last year where they had the
- 56:12Speaker 4: easiest schedule in 25 years.
- 56:13Speaker 3: Yeah, like they're going to have them.
- 56:16Speaker 2: It's going to be tough. It's going to be tough.
- 56:18Speaker 2: It's going to be tough. But hey, ladies and gentlemen,
