- 0:25Speaker 4: All right, we're we're.
- 0:27Speaker 2: In no open.
- 0:29Speaker 4: We are in it to it. We are in it,
- 0:31Speaker 4: just like.
- 0:31Speaker 2: We're right into camp, day two of training camp here
- 0:34Speaker 2: at Let's Stadium. It's Paul Pirilla, myself, Dus and Evan
- 0:39Speaker 2: will be pere shortly as soon as availability is over.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Practice just ended a few moments ago.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Yeah, another beautiful day out two for two with the weather.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Little windy, little windy, but a beautiful day out there.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Uh So let's let's get right into it, Paul, because
- 0:54Speaker 2: we've got two days to kind of wrap up here
- 0:56Speaker 2: on this show. You know, I say that its attendance
- 1:02Speaker 2: is good. Good to see that. I'd say in terms
- 1:04Speaker 2: of the offense people, that's the first thing I'm sure
- 1:07Speaker 2: on people's minds, little you know, off and on Little Rocky.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say the you know, when the passes
- 1:14Speaker 4: are getting thrown in general, they're getting completed, which is good.
- 1:18Speaker 4: It doesn't look like there's a lot of confusion in
- 1:20Speaker 4: terms of you know, route running and alignment and things
- 1:24Speaker 4: like that, so I would say those are things on
- 1:25Speaker 4: the positive side. There have been times I think that
- 1:29Speaker 4: some of these plays probably would have been blown up
- 1:31Speaker 4: with pressure, but I don't worry about that stuff yet.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I'm not gonna tell you I'm not worried about it.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I'm just saying yet, because of the obvious. You know
- 1:40Speaker 4: that your shorts and helmets on Wednesday today, I think
- 1:44Speaker 4: they had shells on. But it's very hard to gauge
- 1:49Speaker 4: how much the pass rush as a result of not
- 1:52Speaker 4: being able to really have contact. So I would say
- 1:55Speaker 4: that Harold Landry calevon Chase on on Wednesday in particular,
- 2:00Speaker 4: those guys were constant presents in the backfield on a
- 2:03Speaker 4: lot of plays. I think they disrupted things, but overall,
- 2:06Speaker 4: I think a good start, good, not great, good start
- 2:09Speaker 4: for the offer.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I think today what they were working on was the
- 2:12Speaker 2: short passing. Yeah, a lot of quick stuff when there
- 2:15Speaker 2: was pressure. I think they were sending pressure to test
- 2:18Speaker 2: out that short passing game. Getting rid of the ball.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I would agree with you that that was the goal.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I would think I would say it was a little choppy, Yes,
- 2:25Speaker 4: you know some of them that I looked like exactly
- 2:28Speaker 4: the way Fred just described it. They wanted the ball
- 2:30Speaker 4: out immediately, and Drake wasn't able to get it out
- 2:32Speaker 4: immediately because either there was someone in his face or
- 2:35Speaker 4: the guy wasn't open yep, So he was like sort
- 2:38Speaker 4: of double clutching a little bit.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But like like you said, I think pretty much everything
- 2:42Speaker 2: he threw except for one.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I could count on one hand the
- 2:45Speaker 4: amount of incompletions in the last two days.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but that doesn't mean that in a real game
- 2:50Speaker 2: they would be because, like you said, sometimes the guy's
- 2:53Speaker 2: there and the balls thrown anyway.
- 2:55Speaker 4: And a lot of the completions today, especially like Fred said,
- 2:57Speaker 4: were really sure. Yeah, a lot of.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Short But I think if you're wondering how Kyle Williams
- 3:02Speaker 2: is doing, I think he showed up yesterday, had a
- 3:06Speaker 2: couple of good catches. I think a couple of them
- 3:08Speaker 2: were against Gonzo, right.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Yeah, he had one one in particular. I think he
- 3:13Speaker 4: ran Gonzo off, you know, a little bit of a
- 3:15Speaker 4: comeback out, you know, depending on how you want to
- 3:17Speaker 4: classify a comeback route on the sideline, and it looked
- 3:22Speaker 4: like he did a good job of separating from Gonzo
- 3:24Speaker 4: went up, made a nice, nice strong hands catch on
- 3:27Speaker 4: the sideline. Today, not as good, had a couple of drops.
- 3:30Speaker 4: He had one drop in in team and then mishandled
- 3:34Speaker 4: a punt trying to do some punt return stuff. But yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 4: I would say that Kyle Williams definitely was was a
- 3:40Speaker 4: presence on the first ad.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Pop had a nice sideline, had a good day to day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 2: So that was good to see.
- 3:47Speaker 4: It seems like Drake is really trying to The idea
- 3:50Speaker 4: is to try to get the ball in as many
- 3:52Speaker 4: different receivers hands as possible.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Offensive line. I know that got a lot of the
- 3:56Speaker 2: headlines yesterday because of the pressure that was Happy Morgan
- 4:01Speaker 2: Moses might have had a little bit of a rough
- 4:05Speaker 2: day yesterday. I wouldn't make too much of a big
- 4:07Speaker 2: thing about it, But something I noticed today with Campbell I'm.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Interested in this.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah, where he was lining up, I think he'd be
- 4:18Speaker 2: flagged during the game. I think he was too much
- 4:21Speaker 2: off the line, and I think that caused him problems
- 4:24Speaker 2: because in his drop step because he was starting so
- 4:29Speaker 2: far back by the time he set, he was right
- 4:32Speaker 2: next to Drake May.
- 4:33Speaker 4: I'm eye on that.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I think you need to get your point of contact
- 4:37Speaker 2: a little sooner than that. And I think it started
- 4:41Speaker 2: with where he was lined up, and then, like I said,
- 4:44Speaker 2: his drop step where he would eventually set and have
- 4:47Speaker 2: his point of contact. His back was almost touching Drake May.
- 4:51Speaker 2: You don't want that, you want a little bit of it.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I definitely thought there was some issue with Morgan Moses
- 4:58Speaker 4: at times with that Kansas is it Juwan Taylor? I
- 5:02Speaker 4: forget the guy's name though. Yeah, he was tackle for
- 5:04Speaker 4: Kansas City, the right tackle that always beats the snap.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I thought Morgan Moses was doing a lot of that
- 5:09Speaker 4: today and I wonder if that was, you know, a
- 5:12Speaker 4: result of getting beat by Harold Landry a lot yesterday.
- 5:15Speaker 4: But those are things when the pads come on we
- 5:18Speaker 4: can really focus on. But the alignment thing is interesting
- 5:20Speaker 4: because that doesn't matter about it.
- 5:22Speaker 2: He was a little bit further back than I think,
- 5:25Speaker 2: But what do I know. I'm looking at it from
- 5:27Speaker 2: the ramp, but I did have my binoculars. What what
- 5:30Speaker 2: I do like about Campbell is his feet. He's really
- 5:34Speaker 2: you know, he's six five, and I yeah, short arms.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Forget about that. He's a big guy, and he moves
- 5:42Speaker 2: a lot smaller than his size. He's a lot quicker.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He's a lot quicker than his size.
- 5:47Speaker 4: He has good feet, no doubt, but it's going to
- 5:50Speaker 4: be a learning curve. I think they've I think those
- 5:52Speaker 4: both of those guys struggled a little bit with the
- 5:54Speaker 4: edge guys. Chase on was was pretty good yesterday. Okay,
- 5:58Speaker 4: all right, So that's the way I choose to, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 4: you know me positive Paul start of camp fresh. Yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 4: I look at the defensive The defensive line was supposed
- 6:06Speaker 4: to be much improved, and we've kind of seen those
- 6:09Speaker 4: guys be active in the past.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Rush yep, So you can look at it either way.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Like you said, yesterday, there was a big dog adoption
- 6:19Speaker 2: thing going on. Players brought up puppies and the team
- 6:24Speaker 2: teamed up with three animal shelter you know, big name,
- 6:30Speaker 2: I think the Rescue League and I forget the name
- 6:32Speaker 2: of the other two, but they had forty dogs here.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Every one of them got adopted and it was pretty cool.
- 6:38Speaker 2: The owner was here with his wife, Dana, and that's
- 6:41Speaker 2: going to be sort of an initiative going forward with
- 6:44Speaker 2: the team. Is finding these dogs homes. So that was
- 6:49Speaker 2: really cool.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I guess everybody thought it was very
- 6:53Speaker 4: well received. I know a lot of people get there,
- 6:55Speaker 4: what doesn't love dog except for you? Yeah, I mean,
- 6:57Speaker 4: I know, we've got to take the obligatory shot, but
- 6:59Speaker 4: that's okay. It was a good day for the organization.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yep, really nice. Stefon Diggs was kind of the star there.
- 7:04Speaker 2: The dog he was bringing up, he decided to let
- 7:06Speaker 2: it down and the dog ran away from.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Him, and we panicked because he's like on the other
- 7:10Speaker 4: side of the fence, and it's kind of like a
- 7:13Speaker 4: uneven you know, terrain, right, like, oh, he's gonna twisting
- 7:17Speaker 4: an ankle or something worse.
- 7:18Speaker 2: But if you're wondering how he's looking, he's looking good.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I think he's running really really well. I don't think
- 7:24Speaker 4: you'd really know that he was coming off of torn
- 7:26Speaker 4: a cl Now we'll see what happens when he starts
- 7:28Speaker 4: getting hit and all that stuff, But right now, I
- 7:29Speaker 4: would say that's probably the most positive development of Camp
- 7:35Speaker 4: is his presence and not just that he's out there.
- 7:37Speaker 4: About how he looks.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yep, I'm like I said on our last show, I'm
- 7:42Speaker 2: pleasantly surprised that he's out there full tilted. I'm surprised
- 7:46Speaker 2: at how good he looks. So that's all. That's good news.
- 7:48Speaker 2: That's really good news. Something to monitor that happened today,
- 7:53Speaker 2: Christian Barmore off to the side a little bit, working
- 7:56Speaker 2: with a trainer. I don't know what that was all about.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I mean, he passed his conditioning run, so.
- 8:02Speaker 4: He was in. So you know, that's good that you
- 8:04Speaker 4: brought that up, because I do think that's an element
- 8:06Speaker 4: of today's practice. That's a takeaway. He opens the first
- 8:10Speaker 4: team period at his normal spot.
- 8:12Speaker 5: It was.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Him and Milton Williams sandwiched around Tongaga, and those three
- 8:23Speaker 4: took part in the first team period, you know, probably
- 8:26Speaker 4: six six or so plays. Then Barmore came out and
- 8:33Speaker 4: as practice progressed, he was on the left field. Now
- 8:36Speaker 4: all this work took place on the right side, he
- 8:38Speaker 4: was on the left field with one of the Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 4: I like, I want to call him Joe Kim, but
- 8:44Speaker 4: I know Joe Kim's not here anymore. But someone like
- 8:46Speaker 4: that had like those arm pads, you know, working on
- 8:49Speaker 4: hand placement. So I don't know if he was rehabbing
- 8:52Speaker 4: any kind of an injury or if it was or
- 8:56Speaker 4: if he just you know, was dealing with something. So
- 8:58Speaker 4: they were making it slow form. But I think we
- 8:59Speaker 4: got guests, so we'll stop yapping and make way.
- 9:03Speaker 2: It's Big Mike, Way for Big Mike and one.
- 9:06Speaker 5: You sit right.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Here wherever you want to sit. You you tell me
- 9:12Speaker 2: where you want to say. I'm not telling you you've
- 9:14Speaker 2: never been in here.
- 9:15Speaker 6: Right.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Welcome to Fred says, Please feel free to visit us
- 9:20Speaker 4: anytime you'd like. Yeah, the door is always.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Want to do your own podcast, we'll do that for you. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 2: So I'm Fred Kurchis, Paul Pirillo, Mike and one you.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us right off the practice field. How's
- 9:33Speaker 2: it going?
- 9:33Speaker 7: Is going good? I feel good? This is day three. Yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 7: I'm really just excited to keep going on.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Day three for you, day two for the public.
- 9:41Speaker 4: For the scar.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so so things are going good. Question I have
- 9:47Speaker 2: for you because I don't know if you've been watching
- 9:49Speaker 2: the Forge in Foxborough documentary that we've been putting out.
- 9:54Speaker 2: You know, Doug Marone was talking about two other coaches
- 9:58Speaker 2: that he works with, Koo's and hass and he said
- 10:02Speaker 2: it's three voices, but we're all on the same page. Yes,
- 10:05Speaker 2: how does that work for you to do? Just like
- 10:07Speaker 2: one of them focus more on the interior, Like, how
- 10:10Speaker 2: is it working with those three coaches?
- 10:12Speaker 6: It's been great.
- 10:13Speaker 7: Really, they're all really knowledgeable, or all three of them.
- 10:17Speaker 7: They kind of split it up day to day or
- 10:19Speaker 7: you know, sometimes host takes the interior, sometimes kooks take
- 10:23Speaker 7: the tackles. Sometimes coach Marown takes the interior. So I
- 10:26Speaker 7: mean it's just kind of day to day. But we're
- 10:28Speaker 7: all preaching the same things and coaching the same things.
- 10:30Speaker 7: But it's good to get the insight. Also, it's three
- 10:32Speaker 7: odds looking at your technique, looking at yourself and just
- 10:35Speaker 7: you know, you get that insight of what you're doing
- 10:37Speaker 7: with it's right or wrong, and you know, going to
- 10:39Speaker 7: the practice field and making sure you get those on
- 10:41Speaker 7: the field, make sure you getting those reps.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Okay, Like you.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Get some new guys you know on either side of you,
- 10:47Speaker 4: you know, with with Garrett Bradbury and Morgan Moses. Just
- 10:51Speaker 4: how's that progression come? And you know, the comfort level
- 10:54Speaker 4: for you guys.
- 10:54Speaker 7: I'm very me personally, I'm very comfortable. I think we've
- 10:57Speaker 7: all played a lot of football, So I mean as
- 11:00Speaker 7: of you know, coming into the spring and coming into
- 11:02Speaker 7: the season, we've been communicating, really just getting on the
- 11:05Speaker 7: same page and making sure we understand each other. And
- 11:08Speaker 7: so far we've been feeling great. I've been feeling good
- 11:10Speaker 7: about where I am and where they are.
- 11:12Speaker 2: So that's a lot of experience between the three.
- 11:14Speaker 6: For sure, you know it is.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, So is that a comfort thing, like you're quicker
- 11:19Speaker 2: to be in the same page.
- 11:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I would say, so. You know, we all see
- 11:23Speaker 7: the same things through the same set of eyes. So
- 11:25Speaker 7: it's it's not like you got a second guess. You know,
- 11:27Speaker 7: you know, I know where where Garrett is going to be.
- 11:30Speaker 7: I know where Mo is gonna be. If we've got
- 11:31Speaker 7: a blitch off the edge, I know he's going to extend.
- 11:33Speaker 7: So it's like, you know, I can put myself in
- 11:35Speaker 7: a position.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Okay, what was the off season like four years? Do
- 11:38Speaker 4: you do anything different this year? You've been around a
- 11:40Speaker 4: little bit. Now we're going to call you a veteran
- 11:42Speaker 4: now because you around.
- 11:45Speaker 7: The summer was the same. It really just worked out,
- 11:47Speaker 7: kept busy. I was here in the spring and summer,
- 11:49Speaker 7: so you know, I felt good. I really was just
- 11:52Speaker 7: excited about coming back and having everybody back together. You know,
- 11:55Speaker 7: those spring practices were good. You know, it was mostly passed.
- 11:59Speaker 7: So I mean it feels good to run the ball
- 12:01Speaker 7: now and get out and run.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Yeah. So do you, as an offensive lineman look forward
- 12:05Speaker 2: to the first day in pads as much as you do?
- 12:08Speaker 6: Yeah? Exactly, exactly.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Camp starts Monday for you guys, right, yeah. Yeah. We
- 12:12Speaker 4: keep talking about, well, it looks like Harold Landry and
- 12:17Speaker 4: calevon Chasen they're coming off the edges. But we always say,
- 12:20Speaker 4: it's just so unfair for you guys to try to
- 12:22Speaker 4: like really physically pass block when you're not wearing pads. Yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 4: what I mean, just how how difficult of a challenge
- 12:28Speaker 4: is that for you don't have to work on techniques.
- 12:30Speaker 7: I'm not going to say its difficult, but I mean
- 12:31Speaker 7: we've been going to get against each other from the spring.
- 12:33Speaker 7: We know that those guys have speed. Also, it doesn't
- 12:36Speaker 7: help that they know our cadences, know our snapcounts when
- 12:39Speaker 7: we run, you know, we say our snapcounts.
- 12:41Speaker 6: So it's it's not that hard the timing.
- 12:43Speaker 7: But obviously that makes us better and gets us better
- 12:45Speaker 7: for our opponents that are doing the same thing. So
- 12:47Speaker 7: you know, they're using as a as an advantage, and
- 12:49Speaker 7: we we're using as an advantage as well, getting off
- 12:52Speaker 7: the ball and make sure we're getting off the snap
- 12:53Speaker 7: on time.
- 12:54Speaker 2: That's awesome. So what's what's once the practice is over
- 13:00Speaker 2: for how's that been for you? The meetings? You know,
- 13:03Speaker 2: this is the first year with Mike Vrabel and his staff.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Do you see any difference or is that just routine?
- 13:09Speaker 6: I think it's been routine. One big difference.
- 13:11Speaker 7: I think we've been practicing earlier this year, so I
- 13:15Speaker 7: think a lot of guys are liking that. You know,
- 13:17Speaker 7: you kind of come in, get your mind right, get
- 13:19Speaker 7: really practiced, and then the rest of the evening is
- 13:21Speaker 7: to watching the film, installs and stuff. So it allows
- 13:25Speaker 7: us to have a little bit a little bit of
- 13:26Speaker 7: time and not practicing during the hottest part of the day.
- 13:29Speaker 7: But you know, we get our work in and then
- 13:31Speaker 7: we get to improve and get the corrections.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Okay, some of the rookies you got obviously will on
- 13:37Speaker 4: the left side, but you get some other new guys
- 13:39Speaker 4: in there. Jared Wilson has been I see coming in
- 13:42Speaker 4: and out of the lineup. And what are your impressions
- 13:44Speaker 4: been for some of the new guys.
- 13:46Speaker 7: Yeah, really, I'm impressed by all of them. I think
- 13:48Speaker 7: they're all they all have talent, they all can play.
- 13:51Speaker 7: I really like them really from top to bottom, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 7: all of the rookies, and especially in my room as well,
- 13:57Speaker 7: but you know, Jack Kui, Uh, Marcus, like really everybody
- 14:02Speaker 7: can play and they all they all have talent. So
- 14:04Speaker 7: you know, I really just can't wait to put the
- 14:06Speaker 7: pazzle on for them to just let it roll.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I guess we have to kind of ask you, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 4: just your impressions of Drake, you know, by comparison, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 4: as a rookie, came in sort of you know, taking
- 14:17Speaker 4: a back seat to Jacobi last year. What have you
- 14:20Speaker 4: seen different about his approach as the starter?
- 14:22Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, Drake has always been the same guy,
- 14:25Speaker 7: I think really, you know, he leads by example. He's
- 14:28Speaker 7: vocal as well, but you know, really just from the huddle,
- 14:31Speaker 7: from the snap at the at the line of scrimmage,
- 14:33Speaker 7: and really just in the workouts, you know, always positive energy.
- 14:36Speaker 7: You know, you don't want to get things wrong because
- 14:38Speaker 7: you don't want to disappoint Drake. So I mean, like,
- 14:40Speaker 7: you know, I think that's that's that's for everybody you
- 14:43Speaker 7: know me as a line included or alignement included. You know,
- 14:46Speaker 7: you want to do your best and obviously do the
- 14:48Speaker 7: right things on the line.
- 14:49Speaker 2: So when you're out there, it's my final question because
- 14:51Speaker 2: I know you you got you gotta get going. Do
- 14:54Speaker 2: you ever glance over to that building that they're building
- 14:56Speaker 2: over there, Yeah, that's what we're gonna.
- 14:57Speaker 7: Be next year. Yeah, we had walked through yesterday. It
- 14:59Speaker 7: was a it was a little weird just looking to
- 15:01Speaker 7: the left and I'm just like, man, it's a it's
- 15:03Speaker 7: a whole big building right usually or last year, uh,
- 15:06Speaker 7: you know, it's just trees in the background.
- 15:08Speaker 6: But it's cool.
- 15:09Speaker 7: You know, we'll be able to come out and come
- 15:11Speaker 7: on our grass field and just be able to do
- 15:13Speaker 7: walk through or really just get some grounding.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I've seen some of the mock ups. It's going to
- 15:17Speaker 2: be pretty cool.
- 15:17Speaker 6: And yeah, I can't wait. I can't wait.
- 15:19Speaker 2: All right, Mike, We'll let you get back to it
- 15:22Speaker 2: stopping by anytime. This is where we are.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I'll be here, all right, Thank you, Thanks Mike, sir.
- 15:28Speaker 2: All right, Mike, and when you coming off the practice
- 15:30Speaker 2: field and joining us here in Patriotson.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Filter that's all right, Mike, Mike shows that scene. It
- 15:36Speaker 4: doesn't matter. He doesn't count, all right now. You know,
- 15:40Speaker 4: it's just interesting, you know. I kind of as we
- 15:44Speaker 4: were talking to him, I was thinking like, how young
- 15:46Speaker 4: the left side could be, yep, But at the flip side,
- 15:50Speaker 4: how experienced the other side? You know? And I think
- 15:53Speaker 4: if you're Garrett Bradbury or Jared Wilson, how much that
- 15:57Speaker 4: changes the dynamic, you know, because she got obviously Moses
- 16:00Speaker 4: thirty four years old. Yeah, Mike's been around now, which
- 16:03Speaker 4: is sixty year for Mike twenty twenty yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's fifth year. Yeah, well twenty sixty three, yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Six years.
- 16:10Speaker 4: So you know, there's a lot of experience from the
- 16:13Speaker 4: middle to the right, but not as much, even if
- 16:15Speaker 4: it's cold, strange, not as much to the left.
- 16:19Speaker 8: You traded Mike's Hey, Mike, get a little Mike, get
- 16:22Speaker 8: a little sweaty or just switched chairs.
- 16:23Speaker 5: No, it's fine. I like it, you know, I like it.
- 16:25Speaker 4: So I feel like I got you know, I got
- 16:26Speaker 4: involved in procut some of his DNA, not creepy one
- 16:31Speaker 4: of that dog of me yet uh, you know, it's
- 16:33Speaker 4: hung around listening to some of the interviews and Morgan
- 16:35Speaker 4: Moses was interesting to asked him about the rotation going on.
- 16:38Speaker 5: He said, I'm not really paying attention to it.
- 16:40Speaker 8: Obviously they have some you know, younger guys they want
- 16:42Speaker 8: to get some reps too, But I don't know what
- 16:43Speaker 8: it's about. But he said, I did say it's the
- 16:45Speaker 8: new offense for me, so I'm learning a little bit.
- 16:47Speaker 8: One other line I thought was good.
- 16:48Speaker 5: He's like, man, these guys they got no pads on,
- 16:50Speaker 5: we had nothing to grab onto.
- 16:51Speaker 2: You know, we can't stop them.
- 16:53Speaker 5: So, uh yeah, a couple little nuggets there from Morgan Moses.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Mike was similar on that. We were talking about
- 16:58Speaker 4: it a little bit, just saying it's not even just
- 17:00Speaker 4: that we can't hit them, it's they're they're familiar with
- 17:03Speaker 4: what we're doing, our alimate cadence, you know, so they're
- 17:06Speaker 4: getting a jump now.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Good stuff, you know.
- 17:09Speaker 8: Kendrick Bourne talking a little bit about Josh McDaniels the
- 17:11Speaker 8: return of the offense. Of course, everybody wants to know
- 17:14Speaker 8: what's different, you know what What has changed in Kendrick's
- 17:17Speaker 8: point of view on it was that he's got some
- 17:19Speaker 8: different coaches and philosophies around him now.
- 17:21Speaker 5: So that's what's altering the scheme a little bit.
- 17:24Speaker 8: It's still the fundamental basis of it is Josh McDaniels
- 17:27Speaker 8: and the language that he speaks offensively. But I think
- 17:30Speaker 8: we'll have to wait and see what the influent influence
- 17:33Speaker 8: is of you guys from the rams and you know,
- 17:35Speaker 8: guys from all the different trees.
- 17:36Speaker 5: So yeah, good stuff, good stuff.
- 17:38Speaker 2: That I mean. I I was interested because in the
- 17:42Speaker 2: in the documentary, Maron mentions he's got the other two assistants.
- 17:47Speaker 2: He's got Hoss and he's got Cogs, and you know,
- 17:50Speaker 2: they all could be the headline coach on their own.
- 17:55Speaker 2: So you've got these three voices, but they're speaking is
- 17:57Speaker 2: one and might confirm that he's said, you know, it's
- 18:00Speaker 2: really good. Sometimes you're working with one, sometimes you're working
- 18:04Speaker 2: with the other and getting technique tips and whatever. But
- 18:07Speaker 2: it's all the same message.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I like that has guy. Like I
- 18:10Speaker 5: like listening to him.
- 18:11Speaker 8: He seems like an I said, offensive line coach through
- 18:14Speaker 8: and through just that, like yeah, Jason Howdling has of
- 18:17Speaker 8: course they got the nicknames and everything, but that hope
- 18:20Speaker 8: it all comes together.
- 18:21Speaker 5: This is what we've been talking about.
- 18:22Speaker 8: Diggs, I think has shown up positively the first couple
- 18:25Speaker 8: of days, and I think Drake has shown up positively.
- 18:27Speaker 5: Seems like he's grasping things.
- 18:28Speaker 8: It is in stops and starts and all that kind
- 18:30Speaker 8: of stuff, and now we wait to see.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, would you agree today it was a lot of
- 18:35Speaker 2: underneath under pressure type of passing.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 18:38Speaker 8: And uh, you know, as Evan actually asked Moses about it,
- 18:42Speaker 8: seemed like you guys were sending a lot of They
- 18:44Speaker 8: were sending a lot of pressure at you.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Today they're sending some blitzes today too.
- 18:47Speaker 8: So I think that's part of Josh's offense, is getting
- 18:49Speaker 8: the ball out quick, the little swing passes.
- 18:51Speaker 4: You know, we saw James.
- 18:52Speaker 5: White and plenty other players feast off of that kind
- 18:54Speaker 5: of stuff.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Listen, if I'm an opposing team defensive coordinator, I'm testing
- 18:59Speaker 2: out the second year quarterback, I'm gonna send pressure at him. Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I mean more than more than it maybe I would usually.
- 19:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 8: I think I got Paul in my head now though,
- 19:07Speaker 8: where it's like, Okay, it's good. We're completing a lot
- 19:09Speaker 8: of passes, you know, around getting the ball out quick.
- 19:11Speaker 8: Let's find some big plays. Now, it's start to hunt
- 19:13Speaker 8: that stuff. As the weak progressive.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Yeah, and I would I would agree with Fred that
- 19:17Speaker 4: today it clearly looked like the goal was to get
- 19:20Speaker 4: the ball out quick and go for the underneath stuff
- 19:22Speaker 4: against pressure, you know, and I think that's what they
- 19:24Speaker 4: were supposed to do. I just felt like there was
- 19:27Speaker 4: a lot of double double pumping on some of that stuff,
- 19:30Speaker 4: Like guys weren't uncovering quickly enough. Sure, you know, more
- 19:33Speaker 4: so than the pressure. I thought it was the coverage. Yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 4: I one hundred percent agree with that a couple of times.
- 19:38Speaker 8: I mean, one of the I guess it was one
- 19:39Speaker 8: of the first plays there in the third series where
- 19:42Speaker 8: Drake had to tuck and run up the middle. It
- 19:43Speaker 8: didn't seem like anybody was open, but it seemed like
- 19:46Speaker 8: a pretty good day for Pop Douglas.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Who that's it, that's where he should be kept.
- 19:49Speaker 4: I thought he was. I thought he was good today.
- 19:51Speaker 4: I thought he was getting open quickly, and you know,
- 19:54Speaker 4: I made sure if you catch on the sideline. But
- 19:55Speaker 4: I thought the bread and butter stuff is the quick hitters.
- 19:59Speaker 4: You know, he's gonna uncovered quickly. And yeah, like the past,
- 20:02Speaker 4: you know, the passes for the most part for two
- 20:04Speaker 4: days being complete Yeah, so that's what you want to say.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Evan. Lazar joins us as well, Hello, Evan, has we turned.
- 20:22Speaker 9: So?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Evan, I want to ask you, and you know you
- 20:24Speaker 2: can go free form after this question. But I was
- 20:28Speaker 2: talking with Paul before Mike got here, and I was
- 20:31Speaker 2: had my eyes on on Campbell for a little bit,
- 20:34Speaker 2: And would you say that he was lining up a
- 20:38Speaker 2: little bit too far back? What might he have been
- 20:41Speaker 2: flagged for that in a real game? And I'm wondering
- 20:44Speaker 2: because of that, when he was doing his drop and
- 20:47Speaker 2: when he got to his set, I thought he was
- 20:49Speaker 2: just too close to Drake. What did you think?
- 20:52Speaker 10: I thought that there are some times where that might
- 20:55Speaker 10: have been the case. I don't know about where he
- 20:57Speaker 10: if he was going to be flagged for where he
- 20:59Speaker 10: was lining up. It's kind of hard to tell about
- 21:01Speaker 10: saying right down the line, but I think right now,
- 21:05Speaker 10: when for any young player, pretty much all of them
- 21:08Speaker 10: probably you know, he's trying to figure out like where
- 21:11Speaker 10: his set points are going to be at this level.
- 21:13Speaker 10: You know where we worked in college worked in college,
- 21:16Speaker 10: but this is a different game, and it was something
- 21:19Speaker 10: that in college, you know, he would often get opened
- 21:21Speaker 10: up a little bit too quickly, and that would allow
- 21:24Speaker 10: guys to swim inside of him, you know, across his
- 21:27Speaker 10: face and get inside. So I bet you there's some
- 21:30Speaker 10: tinkering going on with his stance, with his feet, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 10: with his set points of where exactly he's going to
- 21:37Speaker 10: hit his landmark. So it'd be interesting to see how
- 21:40Speaker 10: they kind of progress here. But we were just talking
- 21:42Speaker 10: to Morgan Moses after practice and I asked him, like,
- 21:46Speaker 10: what what do you tell the young guys about these
- 21:49Speaker 10: non padded practices, and he said, don't get discouraged because
- 21:53Speaker 10: we got nothing to hold on to, Like we go,
- 21:55Speaker 10: there's there's no pads.
- 21:56Speaker 2: We had in here, and he said the same thing. Yeah,
- 21:59Speaker 2: you know, they're.
- 21:59Speaker 10: They're in these practice jerseys and they're slippery and they're
- 22:03Speaker 10: they're hard to get your hands on them like that,
- 22:06Speaker 10: So don't don't get discouraged that you might be missing
- 22:09Speaker 10: some blocks that you think you should be making, because
- 22:12Speaker 10: once the pads go on, it's a different game.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, we did have Mike here and we
- 22:17Speaker 2: were talking about the three coaches that are involved with
- 22:20Speaker 2: the offensive line and he agreed with what Doug maroone
- 22:23Speaker 2: said and Forge and Foxborough that you know, it's great
- 22:27Speaker 2: having all three. They all speak the same and it's
- 22:30Speaker 2: the same message, even though you might be working with
- 22:32Speaker 2: a different one one day than another. Uh, he's really
- 22:36Speaker 2: liking it. He finds it really helpful.
- 22:38Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, look, it's to me, it's it's the
- 22:42Speaker 10: tipping point of the team is if.
- 22:43Speaker 11: They can block.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I know it all starts there if they.
- 22:46Speaker 10: Because I think the rest of the pieces that they
- 22:48Speaker 10: have will be good enough, and especially with Josh Pack like,
- 22:51Speaker 10: I think he'll be able to get guys open and
- 22:53Speaker 10: he'll be able to game plan and and do all
- 22:55Speaker 10: that stuff to move the football. Can they block and
- 22:57Speaker 10: they hold up up front? And you know, they seem
- 22:59Speaker 10: to be really trying to find a home for Jared
- 23:01Speaker 10: Wilson as well. I think they just look at his
- 23:04Speaker 10: talent and are like, we this is a talent upgrade
- 23:07Speaker 10: if we can find a spot for him, whether it's
- 23:09Speaker 10: at center or it's a left guard. So there's still
- 23:12Speaker 10: some tinkering there with the lineups and as it is
- 23:15Speaker 10: right now, it's it's hard to kind of say how
- 23:17Speaker 10: the results are and non padded practices, but that's that's it.
- 23:20Speaker 11: That's the X factory.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I saw Wilson and he came in one play and
- 23:24Speaker 2: had a bad snap.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it's too bad for him, And yeah, we're unsure
- 23:29Speaker 4: on that. I'm almost positive it was Bradbury.
- 23:32Speaker 5: It was a debate in the I think Wilson.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I think Wilson was that left guard.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I'm that sorry, Jared Wilson if I got you wrong.
- 23:38Speaker 4: But I'm not positive. There was a couple other people,
- 23:41Speaker 4: and then I was Mike and I were really watching
- 23:43Speaker 4: the rotations from that point on for the other the
- 23:45Speaker 4: ensuing team periods, and it would be Bradbury at center,
- 23:48Speaker 4: and then Wilson would come in at left guard for
- 23:50Speaker 4: a play for Strange, and then the next play Bradbury
- 23:54Speaker 4: would leave, Wilson would go to center, Strange would return,
- 23:58Speaker 4: and I could swear the play that there was a
- 24:00Speaker 4: fumbled snap on after the play, Bradbury was among the
- 24:03Speaker 4: linemen that was running off.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, to tell all right.
- 24:06Speaker 4: So I can't tell you definitively with a thousand percent certainty,
- 24:10Speaker 4: but I think it was Bradberry. Yeah, okay, but every
- 24:14Speaker 4: but there was a couple other people that thought, would
- 24:16Speaker 4: you guys, Yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 10: I thought it was Wilson too, But maybe you could
- 24:18Speaker 10: be right. Maybe he was at left guard and it
- 24:20Speaker 10: just happened fast.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Right and you see him come from that direction, right, Yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 10: But either way there was an a boarded snap. Whoever
- 24:27Speaker 10: it was on, it doesn't really matter. There was an
- 24:29Speaker 10: a board snap. But yeah, I mean, I know that
- 24:33Speaker 10: it gets boring talking about the offensive line sometimes, but
- 24:36Speaker 10: for this team like that, that's it more.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Boring than anything else. Well, I was just thinking about it,
- 24:41Speaker 5: win you.
- 24:42Speaker 8: I mean, he's had a different offensive line coach every
- 24:44Speaker 8: single year of his career.
- 24:45Speaker 5: It's changed every single year. It's it's got to add up.
- 24:48Speaker 5: It's not easy to do.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Up to seven years and you.
- 24:49Speaker 2: May not even have had a coach.
- 24:51Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I've been David Andrews and
- 24:54Speaker 10: James Farris.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Right right crazy.
- 24:58Speaker 2: We talked a little bit about the wide receivers. Williams
- 25:01Speaker 2: had a good day yesterday, a little less so today.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Pop Douglas had a nice catch today. After I asked
- 25:10Speaker 2: you how' zeft and Chisholm doing, you said, really, he
- 25:12Speaker 2: hasn't done much yet. He came in and had a
- 25:15Speaker 2: nice pass down the field there where he found a
- 25:17Speaker 2: soft spot and had a catch. Yep, Yeah, yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 8: No, another you know, good day, they're completing passes, thought
- 25:24Speaker 8: Travian Henderson.
- 25:25Speaker 5: You saw a little glimpse of the potential he might have.
- 25:27Speaker 8: Just coming out of the backfield on the swing passes
- 25:29Speaker 8: and that kind of thing. Rawandro Stevenson right back in
- 25:32Speaker 8: the mix as you would think he would be. But
- 25:36Speaker 8: I mean, I think it's it's you know, fair to
- 25:37Speaker 8: point out. I went on the radio this morning to
- 25:39Speaker 8: talk about the rotation, and everyone said, oh, Moses was
- 25:42Speaker 8: pulled for performance. Well, now that's not true.
- 25:46Speaker 4: In fairness, one person said that the person who was
- 25:48Speaker 4: interviewing was the only person that I didn't read anybody
- 25:51Speaker 4: say that. I didn't read, I didn't hear anybody say
- 25:54Speaker 4: that except for the question that you got hit right
- 25:57Speaker 4: out of the choot with this morning anything on one
- 25:59Speaker 4: of my shows.
- 25:59Speaker 8: I think we're all excited for the you know, stability
- 26:02Speaker 8: that Morgan Moses could potentially represent. But it's also real
- 26:06Speaker 8: positive if if this team sees some potential in trade
- 26:09Speaker 8: Jacobs and you know, I mean that's Morgan Moses isn't
- 26:11Speaker 8: gonna be the long term solution, even if he has
- 26:13Speaker 8: a great year this year. So the fact that they're
- 26:15Speaker 8: keeping that door open and continuing to get to Montree
- 26:18Speaker 8: Jacob's reps. I mean, I know he had a bad
- 26:20Speaker 8: year last year amongst everybody having a bad year.
- 26:23Speaker 5: But if they were to somehow get.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Him on track and solve that problem that right tackle
- 26:27Speaker 4: for the long term with trade Jacobs, then that's bigger
- 26:30Speaker 4: positive to me.
- 26:31Speaker 7: Then.
- 26:31Speaker 8: You know, if Morgan Moses has one good year, that's
- 26:34Speaker 8: about that's some Patriots Dot Com positive, right, Sure?
- 26:37Speaker 2: I was. You know, like I said, if Moses actually
- 26:41Speaker 2: gets beat out by Jacobs, Moses isn't a bad backup.
- 26:45Speaker 4: I you know, tremendous optimism here. But I mean, but seriously,
- 26:50Speaker 4: if you're a thirty four year old veteran, isn't as
- 26:53Speaker 4: good as what they had last year, we're spinning that
- 26:56Speaker 4: as a positive.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Well, I'm just saying, if this guy beats some out,
- 27:00Speaker 2: legitimately beats him out.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Yes he's yes, you think that's good. Oh yeah, but
- 27:07Speaker 4: but you saw the guy play like Jared Wilson. If
- 27:09Speaker 4: he beats out Bradbury, that's good. He's an incoming rookie.
- 27:12Speaker 4: We've never seen him play. If he's better than a veteran, okay,
- 27:15Speaker 4: that's good. But I've seen Trey Jacobs.
- 27:18Speaker 2: He can't have improved, you know, like, if he's.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Better than Morgan Moses, that's not good. I actually look
- 27:24Speaker 4: at it as I'm a little disappointed we're not seeing
- 27:26Speaker 4: kayont those opportunities to be the swing tackle.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You think Morgan Moses is good? Yes, yes, So if
- 27:32Speaker 2: he beats him out, isn't that a good thing?
- 27:34Speaker 4: That means he's not mean the wrong way? Right, it
- 27:37Speaker 4: means he hit the he hit the wall.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I guess you could look at it that way.
- 27:41Speaker 8: Now, I'm not guys think I'm first team reps though,
- 27:45Speaker 8: looking like, oh my god.
- 27:46Speaker 5: It's a disaster.
- 27:46Speaker 10: Like they're saying that because I think Morgan is on
- 27:50Speaker 10: the pitch camera right now.
- 27:51Speaker 4: You keep but you keep saying that, like you guys
- 27:53Speaker 4: are saying that. I'm not saying anything about Morgan Moses'
- 27:56Speaker 4: performance the body language of having like, oh my god, Jacobs,
- 28:00Speaker 4: that would be absolutely but I'm with him. So I
- 28:06Speaker 4: think that based on what you saw, like if Vederian
- 28:08Speaker 4: Lowe and Trade Jacobs have to play, that's not good,
- 28:13Speaker 4: that's not good.
- 28:14Speaker 5: But does the book necessarily completely written on Trade Jacobs?
- 28:17Speaker 4: I would say that. I mean, am I going to
- 28:19Speaker 4: say that he can't improve at all. No, of course not.
- 28:22Speaker 4: He could improve some, but that's not good enough. I
- 28:27Speaker 4: don't think you make that kind of a meteoric rise
- 28:29Speaker 4: from what we saw last year too. He's a serviceable
- 28:32Speaker 4: right tackle of the future that to me would be
- 28:35Speaker 4: an astronomical turnaround.
- 28:37Speaker 2: I hate judging these guys from last year because they
- 28:41Speaker 2: were all like, it was just all bad.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Why can't an individual play well?
- 28:46Speaker 10: He was also cut by another team and picked up
- 28:49Speaker 10: by the Patriots in season.
- 28:50Speaker 11: All right, So I'm not trying to pick on him.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I'm just like, I want to caution against that too.
- 28:55Speaker 10: Yeah, Like, I'm not trying to pick on Trey Jacobs individually,
- 28:58Speaker 10: but to Paul's point, as a whole, you hope that
- 29:01Speaker 10: the guys you brought in this year are better.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Than the guys And I certainly hear you about the center.
- 29:07Speaker 2: If Wilson could come in and earn that spot, that's
- 29:10Speaker 2: a good thing.
- 29:11Speaker 4: And that's another part of it is Morgan Moses is
- 29:14Speaker 4: a by all accounts a solid right tackle in the NFL.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Bradbury last year was considered one of the worst centers
- 29:24Speaker 4: in the NFL. Okay, So if Jared talk about that.
- 29:26Speaker 4: So if Jared Wilson comes in as a rookie who's
- 29:30Speaker 4: never played yet and is better than that, I'm okay
- 29:33Speaker 4: with that. I think that's a positive development.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Correct me if I'm wrong about Bradbury. Last year there
- 29:38Speaker 2: was one category of the stats against in passing situations
- 29:42Speaker 2: where he graded like one of the worst.
- 29:45Speaker 4: I mean he was something like sixty four centers something
- 29:48Speaker 4: like that in that category. No, no, No, overall is great.
- 29:51Speaker 10: Well, obviously the passing blocking grades more emphasis right run blocking.
- 29:57Speaker 10: He's an athletic center, but he's undersized. He's undersized and
- 30:01Speaker 10: a play strength and size in general.
- 30:03Speaker 2: How well has he been in the league six seven
- 30:05Speaker 2: years and he's been a starter for most of those.
- 30:07Speaker 11: Yeah, and he's an early draft thing.
- 30:08Speaker 4: He's a very and he could be done maybe. Okay,
- 30:13Speaker 4: there's a reason why they wanted to move on from him,
- 30:15Speaker 4: and they targeted a center to replace him. Yeah.
- 30:17Speaker 11: Yeah, I mean he just can He can be targeted.
- 30:19Speaker 10: You know, if you have a really good interior pass rusher,
- 30:23Speaker 10: then a lot of teams will target him, you know,
- 30:24Speaker 10: by putting them straight up over the center.
- 30:27Speaker 11: But I feel bad about making fun of trade Jacob.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not trying. I want to caution against that too.
- 30:32Speaker 4: I'm not like there's always outliers and things. He can
- 30:36Speaker 4: start off at a spot and then improve to the
- 30:39Speaker 4: point where Mike could be right and say like, well
- 30:41Speaker 4: that's a really positive elopment, Like you didn't expect this
- 30:44Speaker 4: kind of improvement now all of a sudden, he's he's
- 30:47Speaker 4: like tom Ashworth or you know some guy who really
- 30:51Speaker 4: started at at a low level and really got good
- 30:54Speaker 4: to the point where he was more than adequate. As
- 30:56Speaker 4: that could happen. So I agree with that, but I
- 30:58Speaker 4: don't want I don't want to big, but based on
- 31:00Speaker 4: what I saw last year, I don't want Vederian Low
- 31:02Speaker 4: and Trade Jacobs having to start at tackling like those.
- 31:04Speaker 10: Those two just whatever metric you want to use, they
- 31:08Speaker 10: graded out as to the worst starting tackles in football
- 31:10Speaker 10: last year. And you bring in Will Campbell, I'd say
- 31:12Speaker 10: the same thing about Will Campbell against Vederian Low, like
- 31:15Speaker 10: Will Campbell definitely should beat out Vaderian Low, like that
- 31:17Speaker 10: shouldn't even be a question, right, And I'd say the
- 31:20Speaker 10: same thing with Moses and Trey Jacobs.
- 31:23Speaker 11: But I'm not like worried about Moses at all.
- 31:25Speaker 10: I think, you know, he's on a pitch count maybe
- 31:28Speaker 10: a little bit here early as a veteran that had
- 31:30Speaker 10: a knee injury last year, and they're sort of easing
- 31:32Speaker 10: him back into things, and he's maybe a little bit
- 31:35Speaker 10: rusty as a result because he hasn't had the reps yet.
- 31:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and I will state that emphatically, Mike, because I
- 31:41Speaker 4: know that you did get hit with something today and
- 31:43Speaker 4: I'm just saying Mike was on the Sports on the story. No,
- 31:46Speaker 4: he did Mike Sports this morning. The first thing out
- 31:49Speaker 4: of the shoot was like, to short Morgan, Moses is
- 31:54Speaker 4: being replaced for performance and so I don't that. I
- 31:59Speaker 4: think that's redict I heard it too, Okay, So I
- 32:01Speaker 4: don't think that's what happens. I agree with Evan. I
- 32:04Speaker 4: agree with Mike. I think there does clearly have some
- 32:08Speaker 4: things that they want to do and they're rotating.
- 32:10Speaker 2: God where did they get that from?
- 32:11Speaker 5: Somebody must struggled.
- 32:14Speaker 11: Yesterday didn't have a good practice and he.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Didn't practice well. Harold Langy was running around him yesterday,
- 32:20Speaker 4: but today there was nobody really running around him, and
- 32:23Speaker 4: yet he's still rotated out. Yeah, so I don't think
- 32:26Speaker 4: it was a performance thing. I think that's a big
- 32:28Speaker 4: leap to say that he was yanked for performance.
- 32:31Speaker 10: I think one of the things that listening to Moses
- 32:33Speaker 10: today and then actually Stefan Diggs yesterday, that stands.
- 32:37Speaker 11: Out to me.
- 32:37Speaker 10: But with two guys that are proven veterans in this
- 32:39Speaker 10: league that don't have to build confidence and don't have
- 32:43Speaker 10: to like come out of the game like they the
- 32:46Speaker 10: way that they've talked about like the marathon that this
- 32:49Speaker 10: is and not the sprint, And like Stefan Diggs yesterday
- 32:53Speaker 10: was like it's day one, like like two cares like
- 32:56Speaker 10: we went out there and we put the work in.
- 32:58Speaker 11: You know, you guys are gonna do it.
- 33:00Speaker 2: You do.
- 33:00Speaker 10: But in terms of reporters, but like you know, he
- 33:03Speaker 10: said that that was his message to all the younger
- 33:05Speaker 10: guys in the wide receiver room is like this is
- 33:08Speaker 10: this is the first day. Like let's not like if
- 33:11Speaker 10: people were asking him questions like what's his chemistry like
- 33:13Speaker 10: with Drake May and he's like, it's day one, you know,
- 33:16Speaker 10: like ask me in a month. And I feel like
- 33:18Speaker 10: with these guys like Moses and Diggs, they just have
- 33:21Speaker 10: a comfort level in a confidence already in the league
- 33:24Speaker 10: that they don't need to come out, you know, like
- 33:26Speaker 10: a rookie or a second year player, and be like
- 33:29Speaker 10: I'm the man, right like they already know they're the man,
- 33:31Speaker 10: so just give it some time.
- 33:32Speaker 8: I think part of this for me, I would relate
- 33:34Speaker 8: it to my to my Jalen Polk take, which didn't
- 33:36Speaker 8: doesn't taken a great turn the first two days. But
- 33:39Speaker 8: I guess I'm still reserving some optimism for guys who
- 33:43Speaker 8: weren't that great last year because of a new coaching
- 33:46Speaker 8: staff and a new system. And I haven't closed the
- 33:48Speaker 8: door on guys that had bad seasons last year. I'm
- 33:51Speaker 8: still going to allow them to miss the first two
- 33:53Speaker 8: two days of practice like not a great sign not
- 33:55Speaker 8: you know, I might have to walk that back. But
- 33:58Speaker 8: at the same time, I still think that's some of
- 34:00Speaker 8: these guys could blossom. And that's where I live with
- 34:03Speaker 8: my analysis. I'm not, you know, and I think that's
- 34:05Speaker 8: more than fair.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Mike, and I would say, like I was in your
- 34:08Speaker 4: shoes yesterday during our live show and during practice about
- 34:13Speaker 4: Kyle Dugger, and I you know, I think everybody is
- 34:16Speaker 4: completely given up on Kyle Dugger. And that's okay, you know,
- 34:21Speaker 4: I remember just a couple of years ago where he
- 34:24Speaker 4: was making a lot of plays. I think with a
- 34:26Speaker 4: better coaching staff and a better scheme, maybe he goes
- 34:29Speaker 4: back to that. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe you know, maybe
- 34:32Speaker 4: he's banged up a little bit, maybe he doesn't quite
- 34:34Speaker 4: have the mobility and athleticism that he had coming out,
- 34:37Speaker 4: and you know, maybe he's done.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Hou I think next guy up in these early practices.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I know it's early, but it does mean something. You know,
- 34:46Speaker 2: who is the next guy to come in after you
- 34:49Speaker 2: know the supposed ones and the fact that you know
- 34:52Speaker 2: whoever it is, it's like, Okay, they're giving him some
- 34:56Speaker 2: reps early, which we've always seen through history.
- 34:59Speaker 6: That's a sign.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Yeah, So they start to get more as the thing
- 35:02Speaker 5: goes on.
- 35:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:03Speaker 8: I mean, I get what Evan's getting at that. It's
- 35:05Speaker 8: just he's the guy. He's the next guy up right.
- 35:08Speaker 6: Now, would it?
- 35:09Speaker 4: I mean, I guess Vedarian lowskn Is probably stay on
- 35:11Speaker 4: the left side anyway.
- 35:11Speaker 8: But you know, we've seen some flipping. Even with Marcus Bryant.
- 35:14Speaker 8: He played a little left tackle, a little right tackle.
- 35:16Speaker 8: They're filling him out as well.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I'll give you that one. You know, if Marcus Bryant
- 35:21Speaker 4: because he hasn't he Roou. I would feel that's that's
- 35:28Speaker 4: that's very nipp.
- 35:29Speaker 10: We're on the same page in terms of like Kyle Duggart,
- 35:33Speaker 10: Jabrielle Peppers, Rmandra Stevenson, even Mike on Wentho, like those
- 35:37Speaker 10: guys that had quote unquote down years last year. I'm
- 35:41Speaker 10: willing to bet that they're closer to the players that
- 35:44Speaker 10: they have seen them, right, Yeah, you.
- 35:47Speaker 11: Know, I think that's just all it is.
- 35:48Speaker 10: But it's a it's interesting to with that is you know,
- 35:53Speaker 10: they brought a lot of those guys back and it
- 35:56Speaker 10: didn't work out last year.
- 35:58Speaker 11: Paul was right, at least for one season. Let's see
- 36:02Speaker 11: what happens though.
- 36:03Speaker 10: You know, if those guys all play to their contracts
- 36:05Speaker 10: this year, then we kind of have our answer about
- 36:08Speaker 10: what last year was all about.
- 36:10Speaker 4: But overall, I would say I'm with Mike in terms
- 36:12Speaker 4: of the optimism with the coaching and the changes in
- 36:15Speaker 4: the schemes and just a better just have a comfort
- 36:19Speaker 4: level that I didn't have last year. I didn't have
- 36:21Speaker 4: the faith last year, and I do have some faith.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Now what that means. Does that mean they're gonna win
- 36:26Speaker 4: twelve games? Like some people are predicting. I don't think so,
- 36:29Speaker 4: but I do think that they will be better and
- 36:31Speaker 4: I think that they're going to without question be more
- 36:34Speaker 4: well coached.
- 36:35Speaker 8: I just have to say, generally speaking, the way the
- 36:37Speaker 8: offense has just looked, and I know there have been
- 36:39Speaker 8: some issues, but it's encouraging to me. I've seen a
- 36:42Speaker 8: lot of bad offensive football and training camp over the
- 36:45Speaker 8: last few years, and for the first few days where
- 36:47Speaker 8: Drake's starting his comfort within the offense, I just I
- 36:50Speaker 8: think it's a really positive start for these guys seeming
- 36:52Speaker 8: pretty active. You know, you mentioned Kyle Williams had a
- 36:55Speaker 8: drop pass, had to drop punt catch as well. But
- 37:00Speaker 8: I think there's a lot of positive coming out of
- 37:02Speaker 8: these first couple of day, especially for Drake, for Josh
- 37:03Speaker 8: and look, that's what we talk about all the time.
- 37:06Speaker 8: They have to be able to put points on the
- 37:07Speaker 8: board two days in.
- 37:09Speaker 5: What does it mean. We'll see. But as much as
- 37:11Speaker 5: you can ask for, it's not.
- 37:12Speaker 8: You know, there are a couple of mistakes today and
- 37:14Speaker 8: you know we talked about the dropped the drop snap.
- 37:18Speaker 5: But still I think that there's a lot of really good.
- 37:20Speaker 10: Things happening on that I think the only nitpick that
- 37:22Speaker 10: I would have on the offense so far as it's
- 37:24Speaker 10: a lot of short stuff, sure, and it's a lot
- 37:26Speaker 10: of underneath. It's a lot of quick game, and that's
- 37:29Speaker 10: Josh McDaniels like, some of that's going to be the
- 37:30Speaker 10: system and it's going to be a lot of short,
- 37:32Speaker 10: intermediate throws. I saw Mike Grease, you know, tweeted out
- 37:36Speaker 10: something that I hadn't really thought of it as some spin
- 37:38Speaker 10: because you know, it's Mike Resea. He said that, you know,
- 37:41Speaker 10: maybe that's a way to turn down the turnovers for
- 37:44Speaker 10: Drake may right, like you're finding efficient completions, Yeah, then
- 37:48Speaker 10: you're not you know, necessarily putting the ball in Harm's way.
- 37:51Speaker 10: But I just thought that there were times where he
- 37:54Speaker 10: was looking downfield and he wanted to let it go
- 37:56Speaker 10: down the field today and there just wasn't really much
- 37:59Speaker 10: going on to get the ball to push it down
- 38:01Speaker 10: the field. He also had a couple of those checkdowns
- 38:03Speaker 10: at Paul Hates where he's like kind of like, you know, yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 4: One of them got knocked down by Jeremiah Farms. Yeah,
- 38:09Speaker 4: and I know, we don't notice what I'm talking about
- 38:12Speaker 4: with that. Then he throws it at a different velocity.
- 38:15Speaker 10: I don't mind it when he's like if he's running
- 38:18Speaker 10: and he's trying to pull the defense with him and
- 38:20Speaker 10: then he kind of just fils it. Yeah, that's different.
- 38:22Speaker 10: But when he does it, it's kind of just like
- 38:23Speaker 10: an afterthought. It's just like, no one's open downfield, I'm
- 38:27Speaker 10: just going to check it down. I actually think Rabel
- 38:29Speaker 10: might have might have coached him up on it after
- 38:31Speaker 10: the last two.
- 38:32Speaker 4: So that was one thing he said yesterday that I
- 38:34Speaker 4: really got excited about was they asked him what some
- 38:37Speaker 4: of the things he's working on, and kind of what
- 38:39Speaker 4: Evan's talking about is one of the things he's working
- 38:41Speaker 4: on sort of remaining a passer as a on scrambles
- 38:45Speaker 4: when he gets out of the pocket. That's kind of,
- 38:47Speaker 4: to use Evans's term, his superpower. He has the ability
- 38:50Speaker 4: to make big plays by sort of you know, like
- 38:53Speaker 4: the phrase like quarterbacks sometimes throw a receiver open. Well,
- 38:57Speaker 4: he can scramble a receiver open. He did it a
- 38:59Speaker 4: few times, but you got to keep You remember the
- 39:02Speaker 4: one to Hunter Henry that you had like you just
- 39:04Speaker 4: kind of ran around. He dumped it to him for
- 39:06Speaker 4: like a thirty yard like nobody anywhere near.
- 39:09Speaker 11: Unfortunately it was in a blow up, but the one in.
- 39:11Speaker 10: Miami was, oh, yeah, that was He's the one I've
- 39:13Speaker 10: been right and waiting since May to see the pun
- 39:17Speaker 10: intended to see him do and unfortunately it just came
- 39:19Speaker 10: in a game where they were getting smoked.
- 39:21Speaker 4: So that was one of the things he's like sort
- 39:23Speaker 4: of consciously, and I do think that's a raabel.
- 39:26Speaker 11: And maybe that's where the big plays come from impact.
- 39:29Speaker 10: Like, I don't know if they have the weapons on
- 39:31Speaker 10: the outside to make big plays organically within the offices,
- 39:35Speaker 10: so the big plays might have to come from Drake,
- 39:37Speaker 10: you know, him scrambling him uh, you know, in playground
- 39:40Speaker 10: mode and creating out of the pocket.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 8: The phrase that that kept popping in my mind was
- 39:44Speaker 8: something that they actually had enforced to just take the
- 39:46Speaker 8: profit drake, you know, And that was something that Josh
- 39:49Speaker 8: McDaniel said.
- 39:49Speaker 5: And that's how it felt today.
- 39:50Speaker 8: I don't know how much how managed it was, because
- 39:52Speaker 8: it felt intentional and not oh, just take what's there.
- 39:56Speaker 5: It seemed kind of this is what they were working on.
- 39:57Speaker 5: But I think it's a good sign.
- 39:59Speaker 8: You're seeing some the coaches are talking about and then
- 40:01Speaker 8: today efficient getting the ball out.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I will say I would like to see and everything
- 40:05Speaker 4: offensively I think has been largely positive so far. You know,
- 40:10Speaker 4: a couple of days in shorts and whatnot. This is
- 40:12Speaker 4: what's supposed to happen. But it is a couple of
- 40:16Speaker 4: fall starts here and there. You know, we mentioned the
- 40:18Speaker 4: fumbled snap. I like to clean up some of that stuff.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Looks like this. Some they try to do. I thought
- 40:22Speaker 4: some some tempo today a little bit at times, you know,
- 40:26Speaker 4: you know, completing a play and quickly getting another playoff,
- 40:30Speaker 4: and they looked like there was some confusion as to
- 40:32Speaker 4: where guys were lining up. But overall, I would say
- 40:35Speaker 4: that what Mike said at the start of this segment
- 40:38Speaker 4: is accurate. We've seen some bad offense in training camp.
- 40:42Speaker 4: That's only two days. I haven't seen really bad offense
- 40:45Speaker 4: in training camp yet. Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Bad football, not no bad you know, not the belief
- 40:49Speaker 5: that will get you beat.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Right. How's the kicker looking?
- 40:53Speaker 5: There was some question on a couple of the last
- 40:55Speaker 5: little today.
- 40:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the wind affected both. I think they
- 40:59Speaker 4: both missed their last attempts, but it was kind of
- 41:01Speaker 4: hard to tell. We were far away. Could you tell that, No,
- 41:04Speaker 4: they didn't have anybody underneath. Plus you don't care. They
- 41:08Speaker 4: always like it's like you should have seen how it was.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I need to get somebody get this right now.
- 41:13Speaker 11: Anybody get that it's pulling the whole.
- 41:17Speaker 10: During the spring, they would like run to get underneath
- 41:19Speaker 10: the goalposts.
- 41:20Speaker 4: I think they were both three for four today, but
- 41:23Speaker 4: their first kill the trajectory the launch already has.
- 41:30Speaker 11: So I will today.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I will say this because you know me, I have
- 41:34Speaker 4: to find something that I'm not not happy with. A couple.
- 41:37Speaker 4: I think they both attempted four field goals. Two of
- 41:41Speaker 4: Borer Galliss didn't look right. One of them he made
- 41:44Speaker 4: it was the but it was it was the seven
- 41:48Speaker 4: ball was rotating sideways things.
- 41:50Speaker 2: That's not good knuckle knuckler.
- 41:52Speaker 4: And it was two of them, two out of his flour.
- 41:54Speaker 2: The operation.
- 41:55Speaker 4: The operation is something to keep an eye on you.
- 41:57Speaker 4: You get a rookie long snapper, and you.
- 41:59Speaker 11: Know that's like a sneaky thing to me that no
- 42:02Speaker 11: one cares about it.
- 42:03Speaker 10: I just thought I was like really good at his
- 42:06Speaker 10: job for like almost a decade, and then they moved
- 42:09Speaker 10: on from him and drafted a rookie long snapper. And
- 42:12Speaker 10: it will happen once like you know that it will matter,
- 42:14Speaker 10: because it's not like it's going to be like a
- 42:16Speaker 10: whole train wreck.
- 42:17Speaker 4: If you're right. They had they had a veteran long
- 42:19Speaker 4: snapper for years and years, and Lonnie Paxton who you
- 42:22Speaker 4: never had to worry about, and then when they moved
- 42:24Speaker 4: on from him, they drafted Jake Ingram and it was
- 42:26Speaker 4: an issue. He wasn't great, he didn't last.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Cycling through guys like Tucker Addington was one of them.
- 42:31Speaker 5: I things was one of the names there.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Tyler writes in at podcasts at pages dot com.
- 42:36Speaker 2: He says, first of all, congratulations to Evan on his marriage.
- 42:40Speaker 2: I'm writing in to take an early victory lap on
- 42:42Speaker 2: an email I sent this spring. I wrote in asking
- 42:45Speaker 2: about thoughts on drafting or signing a UDFA full back
- 42:49Speaker 2: and specifically mentioned brock Lampy because he was from Miama
- 42:53Speaker 2: made northern Illinois. Evan scoffed at the idea of discussing
- 42:57Speaker 2: a fullback because he preferred getting another email asking if
- 43:01Speaker 2: Will Campbell's arms were long enough or if any wide
- 43:03Speaker 2: receiver one get fall back me?
- 43:06Speaker 4: Can I step in before you finish reading that? Sure,
- 43:08Speaker 4: I'm going to guess that I scoffed. Hen Heavin thinks
- 43:12Speaker 4: that McDaniels' offense, in that offense, you need a full back,
- 43:16Speaker 4: and he's fully expecting a fullback to be on the roster.
- 43:20Speaker 4: I'm going to guess that I scoffed at that.
- 43:21Speaker 2: All right, He says. It looks like Lampi is in
- 43:24Speaker 2: the driver's seat of getting the full back job, and
- 43:26Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to having a husky on the team finally. Well,
- 43:30Speaker 2: we'll see, but.
- 43:32Speaker 5: I might pump the brakes a little bit.
- 43:36Speaker 4: I want to see who. I want to see who
- 43:37Speaker 4: gets cut. I want to see who gets cut. I'm
- 43:40Speaker 4: not going to lose my mind over it now, but
- 43:42Speaker 4: I want to see who gave they cut a good
- 43:43Speaker 4: player to keep a fullback.
- 43:45Speaker 10: I'm not going to be there was there was one
- 43:47Speaker 10: play today where they the formation. I'll just say I
- 43:53Speaker 10: was very excited. I was like, this, this is exact
- 43:57Speaker 10: and it's funny because power I right, it was. It
- 44:01Speaker 10: was empty, it was it was a passing formation, but
- 44:05Speaker 10: you know they kind of inverted the formation and uh,
- 44:08Speaker 10: and I knew, you know, I saw that it was Jane.
- 44:12Speaker 10: I want to say, I don't know if I should
- 44:14Speaker 10: and then like you know it just it was great.
- 44:16Speaker 10: It reminded me of of good times of you know,
- 44:20Speaker 10: like Brady, he would see it right like when you
- 44:22Speaker 10: would put the full back or the running backs out wide,
- 44:25Speaker 10: those are coverage indicators like do they follow them with
- 44:27Speaker 10: a linebacker or do they stick the corners outside still?
- 44:30Speaker 10: And when the corners stay outside, you usually know it's
- 44:33Speaker 10: zone because the corners wouldn't normally cover the full back.
- 44:36Speaker 10: So like when you do that, you can kind of
- 44:38Speaker 10: give an indicator H to the quarterback of what the
- 44:40Speaker 10: coverage is. And Drake May saw it right away, saw
- 44:43Speaker 10: that the corner stayed out there, knew it was zoned,
- 44:45Speaker 10: took the profit.
- 44:46Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, Josh is back.
- 44:49Speaker 11: That's it.
- 44:49Speaker 5: A couple of couple of other dead lines for me.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Uh.
- 44:52Speaker 5: I know, you guys might have talked about no Carlton
- 44:53Speaker 5: Davis today.
- 44:54Speaker 8: After peak peak, we haven't talked about it yet back
- 44:57Speaker 8: and uh, you know, it seemed like bar More still
- 45:00Speaker 8: on a little bit of account himself, which, as we said.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Across the Rocks, you did talk about boss.
- 45:04Speaker 8: Teams like that. But a little disappointing that. I mean,
- 45:07Speaker 8: I know we're like, well, did he call h Davis?
- 45:09Speaker 8: Failed the conditioning test or what like. I don't know,
- 45:11Speaker 8: maybe there's something else going on, but it's just disappointing.
- 45:13Speaker 4: I just went there just the quick clarification. He opened
- 45:16Speaker 4: on NFI and that's why I sort of wonder why
- 45:20Speaker 4: he opened on NFI.
- 45:21Speaker 5: Because he wasn't NFI.
- 45:23Speaker 4: It wasn't ied earlier in the spring, right right, and
- 45:26Speaker 4: then he could be sick. Yeah, Barmore could be as sick,
- 45:29Speaker 4: as simple as that.
- 45:30Speaker 10: Yeah, Barmore was off on the on the side field
- 45:32Speaker 10: at one point. Was it looked like with the trainers, Yeah,
- 45:35Speaker 10: going like trying to test whatever was going on with him.
- 45:37Speaker 10: So Jeremiah Farm saw a lot more time today as
- 45:41Speaker 10: a result. But you know, that's definitely no worthy with Barmore.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Yep, something to monitor. Alex and Raleigh, North Carolina saw
- 45:48Speaker 2: a video where Bertrand and Zoe When of Paul Shows
- 45:51Speaker 2: were watching practice on the first day, and Bertrand made
- 45:53Speaker 2: it seem like Kyle Williams needed a red jacket already,
- 45:56Speaker 2: Like I'm excited for the kid, but can we get
- 45:58Speaker 2: him on the field in a game before we start
- 46:00Speaker 2: giving out jackets. I appreciate your analysis. That is realistic,
- 46:04Speaker 2: honest and not overinflating the good and really digging into
- 46:07Speaker 2: the bad. Truly the best show covering Patriots.
- 46:10Speaker 4: Well thanks for the compliments, but sarcasm is obviously lost
- 46:13Speaker 4: on people because I heard the clip with it's Beetle
- 46:17Speaker 4: and Zoe and it sounds more like Beatle to me,
- 46:20Speaker 4: they were over the top negative, first on the offensive
- 46:24Speaker 4: line on purpose, like oh my god, this is a disaster,
- 46:27Speaker 4: and then like hi will we got a receiver, like
- 46:30Speaker 4: they were like screaming me the one of them were
- 46:33Speaker 4: meant to be taken.
- 46:35Speaker 10: Kind of like the he made two catches yesterday. Everybody
- 46:39Speaker 10: made a big deal about the one on Gonzo because
- 46:40Speaker 10: it's Christian Zales in the all pro corner that he's
- 46:43Speaker 10: making to play on. I actually liked the other one
- 46:45Speaker 10: better because the other one, to me, was showing that
- 46:48Speaker 10: juice and that explosiveness after the catch with the ball
- 46:51Speaker 10: in his hands that I'm hoping that he's going to
- 46:53Speaker 10: bring to the offense.
- 46:54Speaker 4: I'm not really step with Evan Lazarre. I don't know
- 46:57Speaker 4: if I've ever done that.
- 46:58Speaker 10: I'm not really like expecting him to go out there
- 47:00Speaker 10: in an NFL game and start boxing out corners like
- 47:03Speaker 10: that's just not he's a five to eighty five pounds
- 47:07Speaker 10: speed receiver, Like I just don't think that that's his game.
- 47:09Speaker 10: But he came across the shallow part of the field
- 47:12Speaker 10: on the little drag route and Robert Splaine was on
- 47:14Speaker 10: his horse and he was and Robert Splain could not
- 47:16Speaker 10: get him. He ran yeah, and I was like, all right,
- 47:19Speaker 10: that's that's the juice.
- 47:21Speaker 11: You know, that's what you're hoping he's going to bring.
- 47:23Speaker 8: I mean, I wonder is he going to start to
- 47:24Speaker 8: push kaisham BOUTI at that X spot and can he
- 47:27Speaker 8: bring that element Evan mentioned earlier in the show of
- 47:30Speaker 8: explosiveness and downfield threat that clearly dangerous with the ball
- 47:34Speaker 8: in his hands.
- 47:35Speaker 5: But just also like just seeing how Diggs looks like Diggs.
- 47:38Speaker 8: I mean, there's no, it doesn't at all. I mean
- 47:40Speaker 8: I think they were manage him a little bit.
- 47:41Speaker 4: He had some reps where he came out, but even still,
- 47:44Speaker 4: I think he just looks ready to go.
- 47:47Speaker 5: And it's fun. It's fun having a good receiver. Everyone
- 47:50Speaker 5: can make fun of me for that one for sure,
- 47:51Speaker 5: but I'm.
- 47:52Speaker 11: Trying not to get too excited because he looks awesome.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean it's early. I mean a couple
- 47:59Speaker 4: of catches today. Well it was what he had a
- 48:01Speaker 4: couple there in the first series.
- 48:03Speaker 8: But still he's just that's what he is, that precision
- 48:05Speaker 8: route running and you know, up and smooth.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Eight five five past five hundred is the hot line.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Let's go to Nate in Connecticut. What's up? Nate? Nate
- 48:18Speaker 2: three two one, Nate is gone? The call back if
- 48:22Speaker 2: you want Camp Christian in LA. What's going on?
- 48:29Speaker 9: Yeah, you guys know what's going on. First of all, Paul,
- 48:34Speaker 9: thank you guys for having on show. How the heck
- 48:40Speaker 9: can I try?
- 48:41Speaker 4: Left?
- 48:42Speaker 2: I literally, your phone's breaking up?
- 48:47Speaker 4: Unfortunately I was if you guys could understand, did.
- 48:50Speaker 2: You understand what he's saying? Not the word man me? No,
- 48:54Speaker 2: your phone's breaking up? Call back? Sorry about that. Randy's
- 48:58Speaker 2: in Providence.
- 48:58Speaker 4: When you're had a little more money, you can afford
- 49:00Speaker 4: a better plan. All right, how's it going good?
- 49:03Speaker 2: You've got a good connection. Thank you, Randy?
- 49:06Speaker 12: Okay, good, glad to be here.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I don't think a lot about the concept of Drake
- 49:13Speaker 1: may kind of break.
- 49:14Speaker 13: Out you or what his advancement might look like.
- 49:18Speaker 12: And I think that it wouldn't be.
- 49:21Speaker 9: Like a statistical production thing where you like, you know,
- 49:24Speaker 9: put a fourth out the yards or whatever like that.
- 49:27Speaker 13: I think it's more of a.
- 49:31Speaker 12: Learning to that too.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Some issues.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you're breaking up too, I don't know. Are you
- 49:36Speaker 2: on a speakerphone?
- 49:38Speaker 4: No, now you're at the bottom of a well.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's you're kind of like a little bit underwater.
- 49:45Speaker 11: I got it. Like you're saying that, it does.
- 49:48Speaker 10: Like Drake May's breakout might not necessarily manifest itself in
- 49:52Speaker 10: statistics of fantasy football stuff, but it might be more of, like,
- 49:56Speaker 10: you know, the intangible things, consistency, cluge, leadership, Yeah, you know,
- 50:01Speaker 10: actually winning games.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Nate's calling back, what's up? Nate?
- 50:06Speaker 4: Yah?
- 50:07Speaker 5: Perfect?
- 50:08Speaker 9: All right?
- 50:08Speaker 1: So if I disconnected earlier, if that was my fault,
- 50:12Speaker 1: I accidentally hung up. But my fustion for you guys
- 50:16Speaker 1: is what have you seen out of Milton Williams so far?
- 50:21Speaker 1: I guess a lot of people say he was only
- 50:24Speaker 1: good in Philly because of the monster D line that
- 50:27Speaker 1: they had, But I feel like that's not true. I
- 50:31Speaker 1: feel like he's a really good player. But what have
- 50:34Speaker 1: you seen out of parents during training camp? If he
- 50:37Speaker 1: has advertised or is he just another guy on the
- 50:40Speaker 1: D line?
- 50:41Speaker 2: I mean, it's so hard to tell at this point, Nate.
- 50:43Speaker 2: You know, like especially with an interior guy, they're not
- 50:46Speaker 2: going full speed, they don't have pads on, so to understand,
- 50:50Speaker 2: like how what his strengths would be at this point,
- 50:54Speaker 2: it's hard to know. And then the knock on him.
- 50:58Speaker 2: It was yes, like said he was surrounded by such
- 51:01Speaker 2: a great line with all that depth. He wasn't out
- 51:04Speaker 2: there all the time.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Yeah, you know I noticed him.
- 51:06Speaker 4: We'll see part time player and surrounded by mental talent.
- 51:11Speaker 4: But yeah, I agree with Fred. I can't tell you
- 51:14Speaker 4: what his strengths are right now because we haven't seen
- 51:17Speaker 4: him really play.
- 51:17Speaker 8: I mean, I'll tell you what I like most about
- 51:19Speaker 8: him so far is how Mike Rabel said. He's the
- 51:21Speaker 8: consummate professional and is here all the time, and he
- 51:23Speaker 8: seems like a serious football guy. Seems like he's not
- 51:27Speaker 8: a guy who got paid and now is just gonna coast.
- 51:29Speaker 5: He seems every bit as intense as he was. You
- 51:31Speaker 5: know when he played for Philly. I noticed him more yesterday.
- 51:34Speaker 8: I felt the ball was coming out a little quicker
- 51:35Speaker 8: today with short stuff, so it wasn't as much chance.
- 51:38Speaker 11: I mean, it's sometimes just.
- 51:39Speaker 8: Random of these practice like guys, catch your eye here
- 51:41Speaker 8: and there and something might catch you guys eye that
- 51:44Speaker 8: didn't catch my eye, which doesn't mean it's not true.
- 51:46Speaker 5: But there's just you know, there's there's so much to
- 51:48Speaker 5: watch it once. That's what makes football fun.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Right, all right, we're gonna take a break. My food's here.

- 54:08Speaker 6: What's going on really doing?
- 54:11Speaker 2: Yeah? That was good.
- 54:13Speaker 16: We all think some coming out here. You know, we're
- 54:15Speaker 16: kind of the stuff that we kind of major in
- 54:17Speaker 16: in the spring, stuff that we know, so stuff to
- 54:19Speaker 16: clean up. I think, you know, pre snap, you know,
- 54:22Speaker 16: communication cadence, trying to kind of use that to our vantage.
- 54:25Speaker 16: But I thought we made some place, makes some plays
- 54:27Speaker 16: down the field. Top of the guys at front fought.
- 54:29Speaker 16: It's hard to block without pads, but I thought they
- 54:30Speaker 16: did a good job. And I think just you know,
- 54:32Speaker 16: coming out and out of each every day and just
- 54:33Speaker 16: try to build on it.
- 54:34Speaker 4: A long session in Charlotte. How did that come to be?
- 54:37Speaker 4: And yeah, Born was that for you to establish yourself
- 54:39Speaker 4: as I.
- 54:40Speaker 16: Think it's something that you know, you missed those guys
- 54:42Speaker 16: for a month and you know you just want to
- 54:43Speaker 16: get back at a refresher form, whether it's route wise,
- 54:45Speaker 16: play wise. I think the most supportant thing is just
- 54:48Speaker 16: bonding together. I think getting the guys together, go out
- 54:51Speaker 16: to eat, having some fun, get some work in. And
- 54:53Speaker 16: I think it was glad that those guys you know,
- 54:54Speaker 16: came out and showed up.
- 54:55Speaker 11: It was really reacted. Your first completion and stuff was that.
- 55:00Speaker 16: Yeah, it's good to have them out there. I mean
- 55:01Speaker 16: it's a good player made a lot of players in
- 55:03Speaker 16: this league. You know, thanks the fans out here for
- 55:05Speaker 16: showing up. You know, I wish I could, you know,
- 55:07Speaker 16: sign everybody. I think that's what's what makes the league go.
- 55:09Speaker 16: These fans, you know, coming out here and coming out
- 55:11Speaker 16: here on whatever day it is Wednesday, we're in camp now,
- 55:13Speaker 16: who knows the days, but coming out here and you know,
- 55:16Speaker 16: supporting us and you know, being here for us in
- 55:18Speaker 16: the hot and the heat, and I think I still
- 55:19Speaker 16: makes it go.
- 55:20Speaker 6: So it's fun to be out here and make a
- 55:21Speaker 6: place you.
- 55:21Speaker 11: Can catch you by surprise, you throw this little pass
- 55:25Speaker 11: and all of a sudden they react.
- 55:26Speaker 16: No, it's one of those things you figure, just like
- 55:28Speaker 16: the first catch in the game. I'm sure you know,
- 55:30Speaker 16: a home game and we get a big, big role.
- 55:32Speaker 16: I think that's what you want. You want guys that
- 55:34Speaker 16: you know, the fans like that they want and I think,
- 55:36Speaker 16: you know, there's a lot of rules for a lot
- 55:37Speaker 16: of different players around here.
- 55:38Speaker 11: There's so much talk about you taking that jump in
- 55:40Speaker 11: leadership in here too. How much is that Mike in
- 55:42Speaker 11: your ear encouraging it versus just kind of letting you
- 55:45Speaker 11: naturally get to that.
- 55:46Speaker 6: He's a little bit of both.
- 55:47Speaker 16: I think he does a great job of kind of
- 55:49Speaker 16: giving me, you know, kind of points where I can
- 55:51Speaker 16: improve or points where hey, maybe do this. I think
- 55:53Speaker 16: he's also krying of let me go and kind of
- 55:54Speaker 16: see where I'm at. And I think it's kind of
- 55:56Speaker 16: a challenge for me to kind of leave this football
- 55:58Speaker 16: team and leave this offense.
- 56:00Speaker 11: Your second training.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Camp, how much more confident are you than you first?
- 56:03Speaker 16: Yeah, it's a lot different kind of coming here, know
- 56:05Speaker 16: to expect. So I was telling the rookies earlier, you
- 56:07Speaker 16: know it's gonna be a kind of whirlwind. You're kind
- 56:09Speaker 16: of scrambling from period to period and next thing you know,
- 56:11Speaker 16: you you're up against the defense and some full speed plays.
- 56:15Speaker 16: So I think just take your time and enjoy it.
- 56:17Speaker 16: You'll take the time to watch the film, and I
- 56:19Speaker 16: think more than not just have fun. I mean, you
- 56:21Speaker 16: know the plays, just don't overthink it, and I think
- 56:22Speaker 16: just playing instinct. How close do you feel you are
- 56:27Speaker 16: to kind of mastering the system that you think? Yeah,
- 56:29Speaker 16: and it takes a while, I think to master something
- 56:31Speaker 16: at the level that some of you guys played that.
- 56:34Speaker 16: So I think I got a long way to go.
- 56:35Speaker 16: But I think I'm like where I'm at, got some
- 56:38Speaker 16: most stuff to improve on. I think it all comes,
- 56:40Speaker 16: you know, facing defenses. I think you can master it.
- 56:42Speaker 16: You know, hey, what are these guys gonna do on
- 56:43Speaker 16: the route? I think there's a different kind of level
- 56:45Speaker 16: when you're facing different hey versus coverage, whatere you're gonna do.
- 56:47Speaker 16: But I think there's a different level too of that.
- 56:49Speaker 16: I think that we're kind of you don't need to
- 56:50Speaker 16: tap into based stuff. I feel good. I mean I
- 56:54Speaker 16: think I think it's more of a judge of how
- 56:57Speaker 16: how I play today. So I think we can move
- 56:59Speaker 16: the ball well if through one kind of one ball,
- 57:03Speaker 16: which I'll have back. But they play a good cover
- 57:05Speaker 16: before we had, So I think it's just one of
- 57:07Speaker 16: those things that you learned from it and trying to
- 57:09Speaker 16: let those defensive guys give me. Yeah, Kyle, I know
- 57:14Speaker 16: he's backside. One on one with Gonzo, he made a
- 57:16Speaker 16: big time catch, you know, strong hands. I told him
- 57:18Speaker 16: to maybe sell a little more, just try to you know,
- 57:21Speaker 16: give him a go route feel. But I think he's
- 57:23Speaker 16: he's uh, he's coming along. He's looking good. I told Gonz,
- 57:27Speaker 16: I'm gonna coming Gonz. I'm not gonna, you know, backside,
- 57:29Speaker 16: I'm not gonna, you know, leave him out here board
- 57:30Speaker 16: at practice. So good for you know, rooking to make
- 57:33Speaker 16: a play like that, and uh, I think it's just
- 57:34Speaker 16: gonna get better and better.
- 57:35Speaker 8: Tra what's your level of excitement coming into the year
- 57:37Speaker 8: two now and and with Rabel and with the vibe
- 57:40Speaker 8: around here.
- 57:41Speaker 6: I think it's awesome.
- 57:42Speaker 16: I think coming out here and kind of a reset
- 57:45Speaker 16: and you know, everybody you know feels good coming into camp.
- 57:47Speaker 16: I think it's kind of you get a tester and
- 57:49Speaker 16: get a feel when you come up these practices and uh,
- 57:51Speaker 16: these joint practices, you get a real field where you're at.
- 57:53Speaker 16: So I'm excited for you know, where this team's going.
- 57:55Speaker 16: I think we've got some more work to do, get
- 57:56Speaker 16: in shape. Kind of small details offensively, I like kind
- 58:01Speaker 16: of you know, day one where we're at and I
- 58:02Speaker 16: think we got some some more work to do.
- 58:04Speaker 4: What about work here with Stefan Date? Is that exciting
- 58:06Speaker 4: for you?
- 58:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 58:07Speaker 16: Anytime you know an All Pro and a player like that,
- 58:10Speaker 16: he made some plays out here today, It's it's awesome
- 58:12Speaker 16: being able to you'll throw the guy like that and
- 58:15Speaker 16: even when you feel like he's not open, he's gonna
- 58:16Speaker 16: go make a play for you. And uh kind of
- 58:18Speaker 16: tight coverage, you know, he's you'll, you know, strong receiver
- 58:20Speaker 16: gonna make plays. And I think it's Uh, we've got
- 58:23Speaker 16: a bunch of those guys in the room that a
- 58:24Speaker 16: kind of kind of earned their role and find their role.
- 58:26Speaker 16: Do you have some trust already sort of established with
- 58:29Speaker 16: Diggs just based on what he's done in his career?
- 58:31Speaker 12: Take?
- 58:31Speaker 4: Or is there so a long way to go there?
- 58:33Speaker 16: I think there's certain players that you have trust right
- 58:36Speaker 16: when they come in. You know, Garrett Bradberry and Big
- 58:38Speaker 16: Mo up front, you know guys like that that have
- 58:39Speaker 16: been in this league. And you'll play a bunch of starts, uh,
- 58:42Speaker 16: Matt Collins, Hunter, Henry, those guys you know you trust
- 58:45Speaker 16: like trust is basically is me kind of earning my
- 58:48Speaker 16: trust for them.
- 58:49Speaker 11: Is really sorry, sorry, right.
- 58:51Speaker 16: Sorry, it's me really kind of uh kind of earning
- 58:54Speaker 16: their trust and kind of me kind of making him
- 58:56Speaker 16: feel like, yeah, they can you'll trust that guy back there.
- 58:59Speaker 16: I think those guys aread, haven't, you know, built in
- 59:00Speaker 16: with what they've done in this league.
- 59:02Speaker 5: Your second year, how much PE will help you?
- 59:04Speaker 2: Knowing what joint practices are about.
- 59:06Speaker 16: Yeah, the preseason games about help you get what you
- 59:09Speaker 16: I think, I think it's a huge help.
- 59:11Speaker 6: That's what the biggest thing is.
- 59:12Speaker 16: You know, they say your rookie year is just you know,
- 59:14Speaker 16: one like you know after your rookie year year, just
- 59:16Speaker 16: like all the rest of the guys veteran. Why so
- 59:19Speaker 16: the rookie year is different. You don't really know what
- 59:20Speaker 16: to expect. You're coming out here, and I remember the
- 59:23Speaker 16: Eagles came out here and they I was in drill
- 59:25Speaker 16: and shoot a Mike Blitz came and I was under
- 59:29Speaker 16: gunn or I was under center and he basically was unblocked.
- 59:32Speaker 16: So little things like that that you kind of learned
- 59:34Speaker 16: as a rookie that you know, things don't happen like that.
- 59:36Speaker 16: I think coming into here too, hopefully it'll be a
- 59:40Speaker 16: kind of bigger stride for me. Kind of take the
- 59:42Speaker 16: next level to playing kind of chest match of the defense,
- 59:44Speaker 16: and then uh, we have some good teams coming here
- 59:46Speaker 16: that we're playing joy practicing, and we're going you were
- 59:48Speaker 16: coming here against Washington and we're going up to Minnesota's
- 59:50Speaker 16: two good defenses and two playoff teams.
- 59:52Speaker 17: So how much how much of a leadership role do
- 59:56Speaker 17: you see yourself taking this year in the year or two,
- 59:58Speaker 17: are you comfortable stepping up and being more more of
- 1:00:00Speaker 17: a leader, not just with the offense, but with the
- 1:00:02Speaker 17: team as a whole.
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:00:03Speaker 16: I think, you know, I'm trying to be I think
- 1:00:05Speaker 16: that's something you got to earn. I think somebody I
- 1:00:06Speaker 16: come in there every day, you'll work hard, I'll play
- 1:00:09Speaker 16: good in practice. I think that's a big part. You'll
- 1:00:10Speaker 16: take practice seriously. I think the practice translations of the games.
- 1:00:13Speaker 16: It's hard to get you know this, the simulation. It's
- 1:00:16Speaker 16: not basketball, KINGO get shot opening three pointers. You know
- 1:00:18Speaker 16: you're you're There's nothing like beating in the mix of
- 1:00:20Speaker 16: it with a lot of bullets going. So try to earn,
- 1:00:22Speaker 16: you know, kind of earned my stripes and practice and
- 1:00:24Speaker 16: then from there just try to go on and hopefully
- 1:00:26Speaker 16: win some games and nothing that will help.
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: Always always working on the final questions because you're always.
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: Working on stuff. What's what's new in your tree.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Blocks this year?
- 1:00:32Speaker 16: Working on stuff? Yeah, I think, uh, just kind of
- 1:00:37Speaker 16: remaining a pastor longer when I scrambled, I think that's big,
- 1:00:39Speaker 16: kind of getting us out of pocket, remaining a pastor longer,
- 1:00:41Speaker 16: hope with some big plays, scramble plays, and just making
- 1:00:44Speaker 16: the defense. I feel like, you know, had good times
- 1:00:46Speaker 16: last year, or have some guys deep that I may
- 1:00:48Speaker 16: have missed him or I took off a run instead,
- 1:00:49Speaker 16: So to try to remain a pastor and uh, just
- 1:00:51Speaker 16: keep trying to work on footwork. I think that's the
- 1:00:53Speaker 16: big thing. New offense, you know, new play actions, new
- 1:00:56Speaker 16: uh new new concepts to try to time it up
- 1:00:58Speaker 16: and get a good group.
- 1:00:59Speaker 13: So you said you were excited about the prospects of
- 1:01:03Speaker 13: this team going forward.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: What excites you lost?
- 1:01:06Speaker 13: Is there something specific that you can point to and
- 1:01:09Speaker 13: say this is gonna be good?
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: M what excites me most?
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: I liked that question.
- 1:01:16Speaker 16: I think you've got the guys around here that are
- 1:01:17Speaker 16: are tired of losing around here and the guys that
- 1:01:20Speaker 16: want to win. I think that's what excites me most.
- 1:01:21Speaker 16: Some guys want to win around here. I think in
- 1:01:23Speaker 16: the past two or three years around here and the
- 1:01:25Speaker 16: past year from me. I want to speak for myself,
- 1:01:26Speaker 16: but I think those guys around here there are tired
- 1:01:28Speaker 16: of losing want to win.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: So thank you.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: And now great moments in history.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: Evan lecturing Tamara about local cuisine. Didn't he eat McDonald's
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: in Germany? No, that was me.
- 1:01:43Speaker 11: I did not eat Samara.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that was actually Tamara, I, Alex and Matiza.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: I had McDonald's twice and John.
- 1:01:52Speaker 11: Don't throw me in that. Wait did you go to
- 1:01:55Speaker 11: five guys?
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: Went to podcast? But I also ahead the schnetzel.
- 1:02:00Speaker 11: Wait, but I will call out. I will call out
- 1:02:03Speaker 11: Evan on this.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: He was too good for German coffee. He had to
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: have starbuck That's true.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: I recall that.
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: I immediately texted Beth and said, oh, you'd like Evan,
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: but I what Starbucks.
- 1:02:16Speaker 10: I'm sure it doesn't surprise anybody that I am a
- 1:02:19Speaker 10: food snob.
- 1:02:21Speaker 11: That's food. That's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Surprise anybody Patrick Patrick and Ottawa thinks I'm a food snob,
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: he says when Fred. When Fred speaks of food, it's
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: with such snobbery.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: Yes, there's no question he nails it.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: He channels the soul of Eric.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: You tell everybody, don't get this, get this. This is
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: the better Maaker Fred.
- 1:02:41Speaker 11: I feel like Fred and I are on the same wavelength.
- 1:02:43Speaker 11: But he takes he does it a little bit more
- 1:02:45Speaker 11: than idea.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: He's worse than you at it. Yes, I smash one
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: before smash Burgers, the tavern Burger. That's the one.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: That's the one.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: You're wasting your time with, the whiskey River barbere. Don't
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Mayo on it.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: Don't put Mayo on it.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Mayo ruin it.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: What's honestly, I don't know this. Friend's always tell me
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: not to.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: That's another great moment.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: I'm all right back here on Patriots Unfiltered. It's Deuce,
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: it's Paul, it's Evan, it's me, it's Matt and Nabooth.

- 1:04:03Speaker 6: Food, Yeah, Cross What do you like?
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: What do you get down there? What's the crocodile?
- 1:04:08Speaker 10: Getes are big, but the restaurants down there are supposed
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: to be incredible.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: I have to credit Eric. He took us. He took us.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: He didn't pay, but he took us to a restaurant
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: that created the bananas Foster. So like when you have
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: your dessert, they come right to the side of your
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: table and they got the fire going with the pan
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: and they make it right there right next to you
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: to It was delicious. It was delicious.
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: It's making me hungry.
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we just had pizza time actually, because I don't
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: know if you guys ever heard of that place, but
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: they had left over pizza pizza. Who ordered pizza. It
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: was leftover from that was yesterday, giant order in the
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: fridge pizza.
- 1:04:55Speaker 11: I didn't took it off.
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: Sorry, I'm a little bit.
- 1:04:58Speaker 8: I'm a little bit thrown off because I didn't realize
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: I was sitting in a sopping wet chair.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: From actually apologized when he got up and I said,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: don't worry about it. That's seat.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: So no, but honestly, it's not Mike's fault because he
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: just came off the practice film. We appreciate that. So
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: we'll just have to make note that when we get
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: players off the press.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: I wrote it down.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, seriously, you know, like, yeah, we'll do that.
- 1:05:26Speaker 10: Did you see uh, Ted Carris on Edelman's podcast The
- 1:05:30Speaker 10: towel the baby incident. This has been written before, but
- 1:05:34Speaker 10: you know Brady with centers would make them put a
- 1:05:37Speaker 10: towel in their pants because Brady didn't want the sweat drip,
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: so he put the.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Spends a lot for those manicures you don't want to like, you.
- 1:05:47Speaker 10: Know, and apparently he Ted Carris didn't know when he
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: was like a young player, rookie, and Brady did it
- 1:05:52Speaker 10: on the sideline, pulled his pants down on the sideline
- 1:05:55Speaker 10: and put the towel in his pants for him, right
- 1:05:59Speaker 10: right in the front of you know, Ted care is,
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: like in front of sixty five thousand people.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Who was the guy though that was just notoriously bad
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: sweater like he started? It was Stork.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: It could have been Paula. There was one guy who
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: was just.
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: Like one of the few bad guys. He was so true,
- 1:06:17Speaker 4: made his way through the locker room. And I don't
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: know what he's like in real life, but in the
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: locker room he went out of his way to be unfriendly.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: And like really now confrontations. Yeah, yeah, but I heard
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: off the field like he's coached. He's coaching football. Can
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: tell you he seems like people like him. But oh
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: he was mean to us and just out of his
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: way to be mean.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and not just it wasn't like an US thing.
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: It was not for everybody, everybody.
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: He must have been especially happy after everyone was blaming
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: him for tipping the signals and what the twenty was
- 1:06:46Speaker 8: it the twenty fifteen or twenty thirteen ANFC championship game
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: where they said von Miller was getting off the ball
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: in like zero point five seconds.
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: Because they seem to know that the snapcount.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: You know another guy who like was mean to some
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: people but was really nice was with Ferrick Colins. Remember
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: him who it might have been before you.
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: Ferrick Collins was mean to me?
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Oh he was mean to you. Yeah, Oh he was
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: nice to me.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: He was very mean to me.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: He was a defensive lineman.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Yeah, how is he mean to you?
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Told me to hall ass Well, he done that.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: It's funny because usually.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Remember him talking about Ed Duckworth.
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: It just came out of his neck. That was Henry Thomas.
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: No I think that was. But anyway, Ed Duckworth like
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: this old time scribe, like the old krusty guy, and
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: he smokes cigarettes.
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: He's the one that Doug dug Mesunshine dot com.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: All he would do was smoke cigarettes and drink coffee.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: So like his breath, he's like, damn that guy's breast,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: it stinks. It comes out of his neck. It's that's awful.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: It was.
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: What's funny because I always feel like offensive linemen are
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: generally like some of the most talkative, friendly, amiable players.
- 1:07:59Speaker 5: In the locker room. You know Doctor Z.
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: One of Doctor Z's book that he wrote, he's like,
- 1:08:03Speaker 8: always go talk to the offensive lineman.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: They know what's going on.
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: They're always usually happy to talk to you. But I
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: guess barn Struck was the exception.
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: Eric in New Hampshire. Erica in New Hampshire writes in
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: New Listener, First time email. My boyfriend's been listening for
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: a while and he's a huge fan. Well, thanks, excellent.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: I'm calling out Sean from Pennsylvania, So first, Godler, immediately
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: listen crime. I love it calling out Sean and Pennsylvania
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: for his too much Julian Edelman take from Tuesday's episode Respectfully, Sean,
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: there actually wasn't enough Julian Edelman in episode two of
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Forge in Foxborough. They should put him more of him
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: in Actually, you can replay his catch from Super Bowl
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: fifty one for forty five minutes. For all I care
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: played all twelve season with New England, retired a Patriot,
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: was inducted in the Patriots Hall of Fame. What more
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: can you ask for from the guy?
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: I'm with? Sean? Yeah, to be honest with you, I'm
- 1:08:56Speaker 4: with Sean.
- 1:08:57Speaker 10: Can we show like the cam Chancellor won a little
- 1:08:59Speaker 10: bit more like fifty one catch is awesome too, But
- 1:09:01Speaker 10: like the forty nine catches maybe just as good, and
- 1:09:05Speaker 10: that he gets his bell rung by Cam Chancellor and
- 1:09:07Speaker 10: just like hangs onto the ball and like, I feel
- 1:09:10Speaker 10: like that's a great catch too.
- 1:09:11Speaker 11: It doesn't give enough flow.
- 1:09:12Speaker 8: You could probably easily make a video Top ten Julian
- 1:09:16Speaker 8: Edelman third down catches in the playoffs, like.
- 1:09:18Speaker 11: Just simply that in Kansas City.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Just I mean there's there's easily ten of them. I
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: mean I can think like five of them right at
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: the top of them.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I just think that, like we're, you know,
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: the there's two ways of looking at it. We're trying
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: to do some stuff, and I understand, we get you know,
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: we're listening to everybody's voice that's talking with the team.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: This is about this team. This is about twenty twenty five. Yeah,
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: So I don't need to see like his catch in
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Super Bowl fifty one.
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: Yeah, you were there.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Oh I think that was fine.
- 1:09:45Speaker 4: No, no, no, I'm not talking about the documentary like
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: the fight back on Sean here, like yeah, like I mean,
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: should we have Tom Brady on too, Like yeah, I
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: want to know, I mean, at least with Brady. In fairness,
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: as I'm correcting myself, he played, he played with Babel.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: I don't know. We've had walk We've had greatness walk
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: through this building and achieved great things. And I think
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: it's to hear their comments, and I think it's always
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: something that we shouldn't forget about. I don't know, choose
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: a draw. Let's see who's this dinner plates? He calls himself. Wow,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Mike is big.
- 1:10:26Speaker 12: Not you.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: When the desk couldn't contain him, he made you guys
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: look like us, even the pre twenty twenty five two
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: liter before picture Paul would be a snack to him.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: I don't mean this in a derogatory way, but he's
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: like a thoroughbrid Clydesdale.
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: He's actually an NFL offensive linemans.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: He's the name big Mike.
- 1:10:47Speaker 11: He's the biggest one.
- 1:10:49Speaker 10: He's the widest probably, but like in terms of like,
- 1:10:52Speaker 10: like Morgan is bigger guy.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: I put a put the other rookie on there. What's
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: his name?
- 1:10:56Speaker 8: Marcus Bryant monster six eight h yeah.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Uh, let's get back to the hotline. Shawn's in Virginia. Hey, Sean,
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: how you guys doing okay?
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: Good good?
- 1:11:10Speaker 12: That's one of the fall as Paul far when it
- 1:11:12Speaker 12: comes to the level of operism. I think that's reason
- 1:11:14Speaker 12: for great operaism because I think from you back there
- 1:11:17Speaker 12: that uh, if they can get great uh you know, uh,
- 1:11:20Speaker 12: they at least they can have a great confident offense.
- 1:11:24Speaker 12: I think that can a lot of defense get more
- 1:11:26Speaker 12: much more breath because I think the thing that goes
- 1:11:27Speaker 12: under the radar, the resonance the defense.
- 1:11:30Speaker 9: Been bad over the years or whatever, because they spend
- 1:11:33Speaker 9: too much time on the field.
- 1:11:34Speaker 12: At least when you're gonna have Brady had a competent
- 1:11:36Speaker 12: offense or whatever he was able to kill on the
- 1:11:38Speaker 12: field or to off the field for some time, whatever,
- 1:11:41Speaker 12: But they tell you in recent years they haven't ready
- 1:11:43Speaker 12: gotten that at top. I think that if they can
- 1:11:45Speaker 12: get that this year, I think that I could win
- 1:11:47Speaker 12: eleven for that just.
- 1:11:49Speaker 10: Means okay, thanks sean complimentary football on all three phases
- 1:11:53Speaker 10: to help each other out.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Parcels used to say, it's giving each other hope. Yeah,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: you know, the defense gives the offense hope and the
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: offense gives the defense hope.
- 1:12:01Speaker 8: I agree, both sides need to improve on that from
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: last year. The offense needs to give it over the less,
- 1:12:06Speaker 8: the defense needs to turn it over more and feed
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: into everything that Sean just said.
- 1:12:10Speaker 11: Yea, and the punts. You know you got to have
- 1:12:11Speaker 11: the punts be good. Yeah, got field position.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Now ye have the other teams defense tired in the
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: fourth quarter? Not yours, Sam's and San Francisco. What's up? Sam?
- 1:12:24Speaker 13: Thank guys. A quick question here about the running backs.
- 1:12:28Speaker 13: I know it's hard to gauge when they're not in
- 1:12:31Speaker 13: pat but I really thought Antonio Gibson, I'll played Ramande
- 1:12:36Speaker 13: for most of the latter part of last year. I
- 1:12:38Speaker 13: thought he really should have got more touches. But do
- 1:12:41Speaker 13: you think we're holding jig? We got four guys on
- 1:12:44Speaker 13: the on the roster, now we keep three and then
- 1:12:47Speaker 13: we got the rookie with subdues everyone's been talking about.
- 1:12:50Speaker 13: But what what do you guys think.
- 1:12:52Speaker 12: The plan is?
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Think of Brandon?
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: What the plan is? The plan is what I mean
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: with all the running, I'm not sure what we're talking about.
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: The running. It's like six running, seven running backs of
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: something like on the.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: Roster, right, I mean if you count Lampy, I.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Would count them all. Like if we're going to say
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: they're on the roster, I mean, for some reason we
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: say that they have a crowded wide receiver room right
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: if we're going to count them all that are on
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: the roster, I know, like Terrell Jennings should count, Lan
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: Larison should count, Antonio Gibson and both Trevion's should count.
- 1:13:26Speaker 11: There's three running backs on the roster, maybe four.
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're trying to decide does does EV's
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: boy Lampy count in the group? Is that three plus
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: a fullback?
- 1:13:37Speaker 11: He counts? With the tight end?
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: Does he count as three plus a full back? Or
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: does he count or does he not have a job?
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: And then you have to add a tight end. There's
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: a lot of different ways that you can build a roster,
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: and I think it's way too early to try to.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: You know, the wide receivers get the attention. But there's
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: ninety one guys in the team right now. All the
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: rooms is crowded.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and every team around the league has roughly the
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: same amount of players at each position group because it's
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: kind of like paint by numbers. This is what you
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: do as an NFL. You have a lot of offensive linemen.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: You know, you have a lot of wide receivers. Wide
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: receivers you need because they run more than anybody else.
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: During the course of a practice and you can't just
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: like grind them into the ground. It's almost like pictures
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: in baseball, like not the same guys can throw batting
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: practice every day, Like you got to have different arms,
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: and you have to have receivers that are fresh, right,
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: like guy John Giles still continues to show up.
- 1:14:33Speaker 10: I would say that they have three running backs right
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: now that are pretty near locks. I mean, obviously Stevenson
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: and Trevon Henderson are locks, but I would also put
- 1:14:41Speaker 10: Antonio Gibson pretty comfortably on the roster right now. I
- 1:14:45Speaker 10: think big picture of the plan is to have Stevenson
- 1:14:48Speaker 10: and Henderson be like this lightning, thunder and lightning combination.
- 1:14:51Speaker 10: They're very complimentary but gives them to the caller's point
- 1:14:54Speaker 10: that you had a very productive season on a per
- 1:14:57Speaker 10: carry basis last year, and all the advanced metrics loved
- 1:15:01Speaker 10: Antonio Gibson last year.
- 1:15:02Speaker 11: You yards after content didn't.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: Play well at times. See that's an example, like you know,
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: individually you can still play well even when you're in
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: the midst of a bad season. I thought Gibson played
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: better than Stevenson right just the caller said me too.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: I think it's a great room right now.
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: The balance that you have with the rookie with a veteran,
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: with Stevenson being hopefully the guy that.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: Kind of be the bell cow back, it's good. It's
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: a really good mix.
- 1:15:24Speaker 8: And we'll see if any of these other guys, I
- 1:15:25Speaker 8: mean Landlairs can he land on the practice squatter?
- 1:15:27Speaker 5: You know, we'd like Terrell Jennings last year. He's still
- 1:15:29Speaker 5: around kicking.
- 1:15:30Speaker 10: So yeah, Land Harrison is the one, like the one
- 1:15:33Speaker 10: guy that I think is a wild card in terms
- 1:15:34Speaker 10: of you know, he had but he has to make
- 1:15:37Speaker 10: the roster, like they don't have to carry four running backs.
- 1:15:40Speaker 10: So if he's going to make the roster, it's going
- 1:15:42Speaker 10: to be because he's so good that they can't kind
- 1:15:44Speaker 10: of tear.
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: It up in the preseason.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Right all right, Christian in La, what do you got? Well,
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: what I have is there? We go.
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: Thank you guy for having me on the picture show
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: there the day. But I wanted to like my ire
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: at Paul for saying I tried too hard. You guys
- 1:16:05Speaker 9: had a guy with a cello, a guy Paul with
- 1:16:10Speaker 9: a dog. Then you had a guy in a firement
- 1:16:13Speaker 9: outfit and I'm sitting in my cars he's looking at
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: the camera taking a selfie and Paul did I tried too.
- 1:16:20Speaker 8: Hard, Christian, you have a great jawline.
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: I was impressed by the John.
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: Yes, I don't think anybody else had a studio quality
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: photo sent in like you.
- 1:16:33Speaker 12: I went to the car taking a selfie.
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: Put together your outfit for you.
- 1:16:39Speaker 12: It was a Lulu.
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: Crying too hard and there we have it, drinking the
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: hater and I think you have IP in it, and
- 1:16:53Speaker 9: you probably have a shot of something in it. Off
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: of football, yes, sir, let's you guys. Dog of you guys.
- 1:17:02Speaker 9: So yesterday, I've read at the end that we had
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: four of the fifty fifty most important off season move
- 1:17:11Speaker 9: the cornerback Carlton, David Milton, that we got Stefan Diggs
- 1:17:16Speaker 9: and then Kyle Williams. They listed those for the most important.
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: For the fourth and fiftieth four of the fifty most
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: important off season move, we had four Patriots on it.
- 1:17:27Speaker 9: That kind of says what the league is expecting of.
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: Us, right, not real.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: We could also say that we had more needs than
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: a lot of other teams.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: That's what it says to me.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but I would I would as the most
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: important offseason.
- 1:17:42Speaker 11: I mean, this is just like personnel roster, yeah, per
- 1:17:45Speaker 11: no players.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was just players.
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: My second question for you guys is this on Will Campbell,
- 1:17:53Speaker 9: it seems like what it seemed like he would want
- 1:17:55Speaker 9: to be closer to his defender since he has like
- 1:17:59Speaker 9: a sort of short arm prop and that would show
- 1:18:01Speaker 9: up if there's more state between them, right, guys can
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: get around, So shouldn't he line up close to the
- 1:18:06Speaker 9: line in general?
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know about that, but typically speaking,
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: I just thought he was a little bit further back
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: than he should have been. But again it could be
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: an angle thing. Thanks Christian.
- 1:18:18Speaker 10: Yeah, typically speaking, guys that are a little bit undersize
- 1:18:21Speaker 10: are more aggressive. You know, they want to they want
- 1:18:24Speaker 10: to go get you instead of waiting for you to
- 1:18:26Speaker 10: come back. If you're Trent Brown, you can sit back
- 1:18:28Speaker 10: in your chair and wait and just you know, make
- 1:18:30Speaker 10: guys go through you. But when you're a guy like
- 1:18:32Speaker 10: Will Campbell, you want to be more aggressive and be
- 1:18:35Speaker 10: the one initiating the contact exactly.
- 1:18:37Speaker 11: So he's right about.
- 1:18:39Speaker 10: That, but often, you know, I was expecting Will Campbell
- 1:18:42Speaker 10: to have some things going on with his stance because
- 1:18:45Speaker 10: his stance in college was a little unorthodox. He never
- 1:18:48Speaker 10: really was in a three point stance because they were
- 1:18:50Speaker 10: a gun offense and they never really had a need
- 1:18:52Speaker 10: for three point stance. So there's some things in a
- 1:18:55Speaker 10: pro style system that might be a little bit different
- 1:18:57Speaker 10: for him.
- 1:18:58Speaker 8: I came across on Instagram some high school highlights of
- 1:19:00Speaker 8: Will Campbell. It's just like a camp where he was
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: doing drills, no pads, no helmet anything, just you've all
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: seen those drills and man throwing guys to the ground,
- 1:19:09Speaker 8: standing in guys faces. I mean, he was not intimidated
- 1:19:12Speaker 8: in the least by anybody. And I know it's high
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: school and now he's in the NFL, so clearly he
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: was an elite talent at that level. But it's just
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: fun to see little Will Campbell, you know, as a youngster,
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: still playing with that same attitude that we saw out
- 1:19:24Speaker 8: of him at LSU.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Yeah, So if there was if the question was asked,
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: what's the one thing that's a you know, an obvious
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: question going into this season that you're most confident about
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: having a positive answer eventually? To me, it's Will Campbell.
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: I mean, for right now, I'm feeling pretty high on
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: Drake May's development, you know. I mean, I don't want
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: to overstate it because it's so important and it's so
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: hard to do. And I'm sure even if he has
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: a great season and you know, gets off to a
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: great start, there's still going to be some ups and
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: downs for him. But it all starts and ends for him.
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: And right now I feel positive on him. And if
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: that works out, then I don't know how how much
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: the rest of it.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: What are the things that we're most concerned about, Well,
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: the wide receivers, Like are they going to have pick that? Okay,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: that's a good one too. I mean, like you think
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: it's gonna work out.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: It'll be okay because I think Diggs looks like he's
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: pretty comfortable. He's gonna be pretty healthy week one. You
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: so you're gonna have that guy that slots everybody else.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a lot you know, Milton Williams, will
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: he be able to play full time?
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: You know, because I don't know if that's a I
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: It's a question. Yeah, it's a question.
- 1:20:25Speaker 8: Yeah that that that isn't a top my list. I
- 1:20:28Speaker 8: mean I think I think he wants to. And then
- 1:20:30Speaker 8: the fact that you have Barn wore there. It's not
- 1:20:32Speaker 8: like it's Milton Williams or bust. So you have a
- 1:20:34Speaker 8: good guy to have a rotation. You'll always have someone
- 1:20:36Speaker 8: who can have an interior presence like that. But I know, Paul,
- 1:20:40Speaker 8: would you say, is Stefan Digs a number one?
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: Yes?
- 1:20:44Speaker 11: Is he a weapon?
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: Yes? Oh yeah, I mean I'm sorry, a guy who
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: has like fifteen hundred yard seasons is yes, it is
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: a weapon. He is absolutely a weapon for this offense.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: He's without question the number one receiver and a weapon.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: Now you could get into paul semantics. If he's a
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: number one or any other team at this stage in
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: his career, doesn't matter. He's a patriot. No, but come on,
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: he's a number one. I'm I'm not being stupid, am I?
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: But I think in relation to that though, it's really
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: as I said earlier with Williams and Booty, like how
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: much of those guys contribute? Does Booty take another step?
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: Does Williams really blossom? And then you know, maybe you
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: do find a complimentary piece to it. And an observation
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: about Booty he's a slow starter. I don't notice him
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: early in campag this is three years in a row.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: I haven't the first pass he's I mean, he's out there.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: He starts with with Diggs in Douglas and I don't
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: see him as much as I see other guys. Do
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: you think it part of it is that that outside role,
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: but I have him play is about goes and comebacks
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: and not get a lot.
- 1:21:53Speaker 11: Of targets that as the X and Joshua.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: But like I kind of agree Mike, I thought that
- 1:22:01Speaker 4: Williams looked like he was in that role. Yeah when
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: he comes in, Yeah, most and he's gotten some you know,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: maybe they want to target him. Maybe it's one of
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: those deals. I don't, Yeah, I just.
- 1:22:13Speaker 10: You know, with McDaniel's I think the term that gets
- 1:22:15Speaker 10: used a lot as the sacrificial X, and it's like
- 1:22:17Speaker 10: you're just there to take to occupy the safety and
- 1:22:21Speaker 10: put a deep element to it because we're actually trying
- 1:22:23Speaker 10: to throw the ball in other places.
- 1:22:25Speaker 11: But I think my biggest concern, just put the team
- 1:22:28Speaker 11: overall right now, is just depth. You know.
- 1:22:30Speaker 10: I think they did a nice job of getting the
- 1:22:33Speaker 10: frontline starters into much better shape than it has been,
- 1:22:36Speaker 10: and I feel a lot better about the top of
- 1:22:37Speaker 10: the roster than I have in recent years. But you
- 1:22:40Speaker 10: start looking at some of the position groups and today
- 1:22:43Speaker 10: with the corners, like you know, Carlon Davis wasn't out
- 1:22:45Speaker 10: there today, and now all of a sudden you have
- 1:22:48Speaker 10: like Alex Austin and Marcella's dial and like those guys
- 1:22:51Speaker 10: are playing a lot, and are they ready for that?
- 1:22:53Speaker 10: You know, at right tackle, if Morgan Moses isn't what
- 1:22:57Speaker 10: we think he is or is hurt, or now Trey J.
- 1:23:00Speaker 10: Cubs is back out there, or it's Cayden Wallace or
- 1:23:02Speaker 10: it's Marcus Bryant, and do they have enough to withstand
- 1:23:06Speaker 10: the injuries that are inevitably.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: That's my biggest question. But but I thought Fred made
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: a good little twist on that, like what do you
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: feel the best about the questions that will be answered positively?
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: And I think the wide receiver one. You know, I'm
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: not telling you they're going to have to Drake and
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: the wide receiver they're not going to have a great situation.
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: I'm trying to come up with something that's like a
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: major quest, Like the offensive line is a major question.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: Depth is a major question overall. I don't know how
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: big of a question, you know, Like Milton Williams, can
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: he really play full time. You know. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: I don't know if he can or not. But I
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: guess that's a major question. It's hard coming up with
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: one that I definitively think is going to be answered positively. Yeah.
- 1:23:58Speaker 8: I mean I tie all this to kind of what
- 1:23:59Speaker 8: we talked about earlier about the right tackle position, which
- 1:24:02Speaker 8: is I'm trying to hold out some hope that some
- 1:24:05Speaker 8: of these death pieces actually might be able to be
- 1:24:07Speaker 8: solid death pieces and not. You know, this is you
- 1:24:10Speaker 8: got to get through this year and really figure out
- 1:24:12Speaker 8: who the vrabel guys are, who the holdovers are that
- 1:24:14Speaker 8: can actually carry over from previous regimes into this regime
- 1:24:19Speaker 8: and still carve out, you know, a significant role. So
- 1:24:23Speaker 8: that's why I think if you have some of these
- 1:24:25Speaker 8: guys that you're surprised that you weren't really counting on,
- 1:24:27Speaker 8: you know. And I'll just use Jacob's as the example
- 1:24:29Speaker 8: because we talked about him earlier. But again, like you know,
- 1:24:32Speaker 8: suddenly all of a sudden, it's like whoa, He's suddenly
- 1:24:35Speaker 8: something well out there, Yeah, you know, And I mean
- 1:24:37Speaker 8: I'm not saying that that's going to happen, but there
- 1:24:39Speaker 8: are other positions along the roster where you know, Alex
- 1:24:42Speaker 8: Austin has had solid ends to the last couple of seasons,
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: battled injuries, hasn't been able to put it all together.
- 1:24:48Speaker 8: But does Carlton Davis have some kind of lingering injury?
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: Does he get more of an opportunity he steps up
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: and now all of a sudden it's like, Okay, we've
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: got another young corner now that we can try to
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: keep around and provide some depth. So it's a great
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: question thing. And I got asked the same thing when
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: I went on a serious radio yesterday and I know,
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: who were you within seems and I'm no, no, it
- 1:25:11Speaker 4: was it was. It wasn't a big show.
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: I don't think I party shows. His music show just
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: asked me about music the whole time.
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: But they asked me the same thing about you know,
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: where is the biggest concern on the top And I'm like,
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: there isn't really top line concerns. You kind of know
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: who the guys are out there, and you hope that
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: they play well, of course, but really the question are
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: the depth the sub packages, how do the wide receiver
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: snaps get divvied up?
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: Those kind of things.
- 1:25:34Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean like they're going to have a playmaker question,
- 1:25:36Speaker 10: like do they have enough firepower on offense to really
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: compete with the top top teams. But like to Fred's
- 1:25:43Speaker 10: question earlier, I think all those little things are going
- 1:25:45Speaker 10: to figure themselves out just fine. Like I think Will
- 1:25:48Speaker 10: Campbell's going to be just fine. I think Milton Williams
- 1:25:50Speaker 10: is going to be just fine. The question, the only
- 1:25:52Speaker 10: question that I have is like when they do get injuries,
- 1:25:54Speaker 10: and they will get injuries, like do they have enough
- 1:25:57Speaker 10: depth behind some of these guys to withstand it and
- 1:26:00Speaker 10: be really you know, are we going to get be
- 1:26:02Speaker 10: in November and December? And it's like, well, I tackle,
- 1:26:04Speaker 10: like everybody got hurt, and you know.
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Now we're on Well if everybody gets hurt.
- 1:26:10Speaker 10: Their starters got hurt, and now we're on Trey Jacobs
- 1:26:13Speaker 10: and Venerian Lowe again, and here you know that we're.
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: It's not it's not everybody there are I agree with Evan,
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: there are a couple of guys that if they got hurt,
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: would be borderline disastrous. And it's not everybody, you know,
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: but if if you if you lost like three guys
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: out of what he's talking about, like you know, one
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: of the tackles one of the corners and one in Spalline.
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: You know, that'd be really really impactful. That's not a
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: lot of injuries, but it's three very specific.
- 1:26:46Speaker 10: Ones, right, you know, because I just feel like they
- 1:26:49Speaker 10: had to get back to level with the roster this
- 1:26:52Speaker 10: past offseason, and they did a nice job of that,
- 1:26:54Speaker 10: but they haven't built enough over years, right, Like, in
- 1:26:58Speaker 10: order to really build up the whole fifty three, it
- 1:27:01Speaker 10: takes two or three years to really have that.
- 1:27:03Speaker 8: Was like, they went into free agency and got some
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: of their guys, but they haven't been able to draft
- 1:27:08Speaker 8: develop their kind of guys to round out the roster.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Here, Nathan is in Monterey, Texas, Mexico, says, I opened
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: the show on Monday, and imagine my excitement when one
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: of the first topics to come up was the two
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: thousand and two season. My heart skipped a beat. As
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: Fred Toldpaul, we'll talk about that later. We got an
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: email about it. My email was about to touch the
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: hollow lips of kersh was about to echo in the
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: halls of Patriots podcast history. I was about to have
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: sarcasm and snark directed my way by Paul some self
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: deprecating jokes from Mike, even Fawn reminiscing about his days
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: as a young fan by Evan, and then two hours
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: and nothing. As time wore on, I realized I'd been teased,
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: teased by Fred Kersh. My email was not going to
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: be read. Anyone else who has experienced his religious experience
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: can understand and relate to the ecstasy felt. I have
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: been blessed. I will die happy. PS. I really am
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: interested in answer to my question about the two thousand
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: and two season, and I do remember that, and I
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: apologize Nathan, we get sidetracked. But his question was what happened?
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: They won the Super Bowl in one and then in
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: O two. I think it's like one of only two
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: years that Brady didn't make the playoffs.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: Yeah, like led the league in touchdowns?
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: So he led the league in touchdowns just despite not
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: really being good until like oh seven.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: It's always this argument that he's like, no, I mean, Paul.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: The think Paul's always said to me because I've asked him,
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: that he's asking questions like they couldn't stop the run.
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: That was a big, big problem with that team. They
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: brought in some guys. Steve Martin was sort of the
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: poster child for it. He was a great remember the
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: great guy. He played some nose tackle for that team.
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: Great talker, wasn't a great player, didn't didn't really play
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: all that well. Four of them up front in the.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: Next Yeah, that shows you.
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: So they recognized the problems. And back then that era,
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: you know, running the ball and stopping the run was
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: far more vital to a team's success than it is today.
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: Not that it's irrelevant today, but it was really really important.
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: I remember the third game they started. The team started
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: off three and zero and then they ended up finishing
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: nine and seven. Very pedestrian. But the third game was
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: at home here against Kansas City, and Priest Holmes ran
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: for about one hundred and eighty five yards. They just
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: couldn't stop them, could not stop them on the ground.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: It was a shootout. I think the Patriots ended up
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: winning in overtime, but like forty one thirty eight or
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: thirty eight thirty five, something like that, they just couldn't
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: stop the run. It was kind of as simple as that.
- 1:29:46Speaker 8: Kind of reminds me of the seventeen opener when I
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: or yeah, seventeen opener when same thing. Chiefs Kareem hunt
- 1:29:52Speaker 8: all over them and you're like, h oh, and that
- 1:29:54Speaker 8: was you got.
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: To the super Bowl. But a sign of these team
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: is going to struggle to stop people.
- 1:29:58Speaker 10: That was my first experience was trying to understand tiebreakers
- 1:30:02Speaker 10: in sports. Like I was like nine, ten years old
- 1:30:04Speaker 10: at that point, and my dad's like trying to explain them.
- 1:30:07Speaker 10: But I'm like, but they have this, like the record
- 1:30:09Speaker 10: is good enough to make the playoffs, and he's like.
- 1:30:11Speaker 11: They didn't make it. I kept refreshing.
- 1:30:14Speaker 10: I remember, like the CBS sports line or whatever it was.
- 1:30:17Speaker 10: I was like, but I don't get it, Like what's
- 1:30:19Speaker 10: it was like a that in a in eight right
- 1:30:23Speaker 10: where they both they missed out on tie breakers in
- 1:30:25Speaker 10: both occasions. O.
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: Wait, was was really unlucky. I mean the OA team
- 1:30:29Speaker 4: went eleven and five, You should make the playoffs at
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: eleven and five, nine and seven, you kind of leave
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: yourself vulnerable to a tiebreaker. But eleven and five, it
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: was just one of those years that it was sort
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: of been an a liar that eleven and five wasn't good.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Enough to make the play missed the playoff.
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: I think I think that there's a Denver team. I
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: remember being social with that no one else had ever
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: not made the playoffs. Yeah, no one's ever made it any
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: and he was, like, says here Denver, son of a bitch.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: I don't remember that.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: Corey and Connecticut. Been at Patrios fan since the fled
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: So days and a diehard PU listener since twenty twenty season.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: Absolutely love the show, look forward to every episode. Just
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: wanted to say the guest the listener game was one
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: of the absolute favorite things you've done. Hearing all these
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: callers every week, you can't help but create a mental
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: image of what they look like, and it was so
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: much fun to actually put the faces to the names.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: I played along and got seven out of ten.
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: Right better than me, way better than us.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: Christian in La looked as smug as one might imagine,
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: and I knew immediately it had to be him Ford
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: and Savannah and his look of whimsy totally had me fooled.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: I thought he was James Pettigroup. Can't wait for the
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: next edition with Patty from Agawam, Jack for Ma and
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: Aba and more of the faithful PU listeners.
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:31:44Speaker 11: Fun.
- 1:31:44Speaker 5: Have those emails still been coming in people sent in
- 1:31:47Speaker 5: their pictures?
- 1:31:48Speaker 6: I guess, so that's fun.
- 1:31:49Speaker 5: The people could play at home. I didn't even think
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: of that though. That's a it's a family game, it's
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: a fun game.
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: It's a family game.
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: Everybody can play. Can't win if you don't play.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. Josh in Atlanta writes in Dear do
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Some Fred, I love you both dearly, but your unbridled
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: trait Jacob's optimism won't distract me from the unmitigated disaster
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: that was last year. Per PFF, Jacobs was thirty eighth
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: out of four one hundred and forty eligible tackles in
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: total snaps, but ranked one hundred and thirty seventh in
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: overall block grading. Any scenario where he benches Morgan Moses
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: is catastrophic. Also, Christian and La tried too hard in
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: that photo submission and in every one of his many
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: nauseating ventures.
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: Kind of Christian. Everybody's saying it. They felt like a
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: photo shoot, a little bit like I wonder it definitely lights,
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: he had some lighting and lighting.
- 1:32:43Speaker 10: It seemed like maybe a ring light, you know, like
- 1:32:45Speaker 10: there's a lot of an influencer on the side.
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: Right he understands he's gonna call back in I.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Want to hear from miss Iceland like what happened?
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: And what do they do in Iceland?
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: She's living in the Greater Naya falls Er.
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: Well, the the funny thing about it is Iceland is
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: the one that's more green. Green is the one that's
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: more ice.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: I've heard that, did you know? I've heard that tale
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: Vikings very.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: Small drive on a parkway and park.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: That's actually a Stephen Right's Stephen Right?
- 1:33:22Speaker 11: Which one is the one that's James James Bond goes.
- 1:33:24Speaker 11: I think it's Iceland.
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: Oh, I'm not a Chiefs Bawn guy.
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: Really, James, I thought for sure you'd be a James
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: Bond guy.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: Halle Berry.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: James all time great franchises.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: I would totally agree with that, And I would also
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: tell you in the same breath that I've never seen
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: a single one what what.
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: Gosh?
- 1:33:45Speaker 11: I mean doesn't like action?
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: That's completely on rom com. Matter of fact, I watched
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: it for the four thousand consecutive times the other day.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: But you think you think love story?
- 1:33:58Speaker 10: Now I'm mad creators like so good soundtrack?
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: Are you not entertained?
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: It's kind of like the way it was back?
- 1:34:08Speaker 11: Is this like Shakespeare?
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: That's what I think of that take?
- 1:34:12Speaker 11: Have you never seen Skyfall.
- 1:34:13Speaker 8: No, I saw like the like the Roger Moore one
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: in like the eighties.
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: And one of the worst living living like the Roger
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: Moore won a lot.
- 1:34:24Speaker 18: I'm sorry sorry, Well the one that I forget which
- 1:34:26Speaker 18: one it was Living Let Die, Living, Let Dies, Moon
- 1:34:29Speaker 18: Brakers that was that was that was Roger was his
- 1:34:32Speaker 18: best living. Yeah, definitely saw the Living Daylights at the
- 1:34:36Speaker 18: Cape Cinema.
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: And Dennis for sure remember that clearest day to me
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: Dalton very.
- 1:34:41Speaker 10: The boat chasing and Living Let Die is legit and
- 1:34:43Speaker 10: that's like and that was like back then like that,
- 1:34:45Speaker 10: you know, to be able to put something together like that.
- 1:34:48Speaker 11: And then you have Paul McCartney on the soundtrack.
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: Yea great, Like you're like Sean Connery, you got them all.
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: You're like James Bond.
- 1:34:54Speaker 11: My father is the biggest James Bond all right.
- 1:34:58Speaker 8: Well he read the books and stuff down right, I
- 1:35:00Speaker 8: mean I've watched.
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: And he would agree that Broy's the best Bond, right.
- 1:35:05Speaker 4: Uh really Bond is that fact? See, I can't comment
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: on account I didn't see.
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: I think Craig is the best.
- 1:35:16Speaker 11: He's very good.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: I mean a lot of people think it's blasphemy to
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: say anybody but Sean Connery, but.
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: I expect you to die.
- 1:35:24Speaker 10: Roger Moore is like that's his era, you know, like
- 1:35:28Speaker 10: she's a little too young for Sean Connery. It was
- 1:35:31Speaker 10: like the sixties, so he was a young and so
- 1:35:33Speaker 10: like Roger Moore like Live and Let Die is probably
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: his favorite.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I had the toy Aston
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Martin Carr that it would shoot little things out the front.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: The bullet shield would come out in the back, you know,
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: doors open. It was really cool. And then I had
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: a James Bond briefcase that you open it up and
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: had all the weapons. It actually shot a missile out
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: the front of the thing like nowadays, like they would
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: never sell this because you know, kids would be getting killed.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: But uh yeah, I had the James Bond briefcase. That
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: was That was Sean cold and I no gold Finger.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: Goldfinger was Sean Connor. Remember like the worst one, Roger
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Moore when they had that that giant guy and on
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: the space station.
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that is correct that I'm in for this now.
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: That was awful.
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: That was awful.
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: Awful movie.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: You guys are really guys are really selling it.
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: That was awful.
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: This one song he was the worst.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: Bonds, the one had the bond that was the first,
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: that was the first bond. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: a one and done. Yeah yeah.
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: Maybe it's like a franchise thing, like I'm not I
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: haven't really seen a lot of like Fast and Furious. No, no,
- 1:36:51Speaker 4: I saw the first one, and I'm thinking about all
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: of these like action kind of franchise things, and you
- 1:36:56Speaker 4: might be right.
- 1:36:57Speaker 8: Yeah, like Parker said, we just park I'm like, I
- 1:36:59Speaker 8: miss I've seen six Jurassic Parks.
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: I've seen some of your Jurassic Parks though, I've seen
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: like the first couple were worth watching.
- 1:37:05Speaker 8: And like the Marvel movies, like I've left like and
- 1:37:07Speaker 8: then the DC movies, and like it's just so much
- 1:37:09Speaker 8: to talk about.
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: Would be right about my critics. I don't like the Superhero.
- 1:37:13Speaker 10: We're talking about that today because somebody asked me if
- 1:37:16Speaker 10: I had seen the New Superman or Fantastic Four yet,
- 1:37:19Speaker 10: and I was like, to be honest with you, like
- 1:37:21Speaker 10: getting kind of tired of it.
- 1:37:22Speaker 11: Like there's been a lot.
- 1:37:23Speaker 10: I know, Mad behind the Glass right now is like
- 1:37:25Speaker 10: you're gonna kill me, But like there's there's just there's a.
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: Lot to do it in a variety of ways.
- 1:37:29Speaker 10: Yeah, right, And there's a lot of superhero movies like
- 1:37:32Speaker 10: can We take a Break?
- 1:37:33Speaker 8: Like and it's like it's so like this is gonna
- 1:37:36Speaker 8: set up the next twelve years of field. Like everyone's
- 1:37:38Speaker 8: trying to do what they did with the Avengers, right
- 1:37:40Speaker 8: and then trying to have their version of it, And
- 1:37:42Speaker 8: it's just.
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: See, that's why I love the Boys on Prime because
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: it was a whole new take on superheroes and it
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: was just so irreverent.
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: It was it was ridiculously over the top the deepest,
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: like one of my favorite characters, Like, he's such a funny,
- 1:37:56Speaker 4: such a loser.
- 1:37:57Speaker 5: I love it the deep too many.
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: He's his girlfriend's an octopus.
- 1:38:06Speaker 8: What like the bit with the whale too, they had
- 1:38:08Speaker 8: some big whale where like a whale dies, I forget
- 1:38:10Speaker 8: the dolphins.
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: Dolphin, Yeah, he's trying to say that. Yeah, he's such
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: a loser. Barton Poland writes in Fred, don't worry. I
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: forgive you for not recognizing me from the picture. But honestly,
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: considering how many Guinnesses were involved that night, I would
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: have bet on Evan being the one to forget.
- 1:38:32Speaker 11: That was a night there there are quite a few beverages.
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: Funny yeap, phil and Vermont writes in excited because for
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: the first time ever, I'm coming down for joint practice.
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: As is often the topic when it comes to the
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: joint practices, it's intriguing to see the teams come together,
- 1:38:51Speaker 2: observed player performances and evaluate who's excelling and who isn't.
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: My question is, what do you know about the relationships
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: between coaches during these joint practices? Our coaches generally open
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: to experimentation and collaboration, or are some more secretive and
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: reluctant to delve into the details.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: No, I think the first one.
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they plan these joints because they have
- 1:39:14Speaker 2: a relationship. Yeah, you know, I really respect coach.
- 1:39:18Speaker 11: They usually talk.
- 1:39:19Speaker 10: They'll talk for the practices and they'll they'll go over
- 1:39:22Speaker 10: the script together of like what exactly they want to
- 1:39:25Speaker 10: hit and what they want to work on now in
- 1:39:27Speaker 10: terms of like what planes they're gonna call, I think
- 1:39:29Speaker 10: they keep that close to the best to anybody. But
- 1:39:31Speaker 10: in terms of the script of practice and situations like
- 1:39:35Speaker 10: are we first, second down, third down, third and long
- 1:39:37Speaker 10: red zone, like all that stuff I think gets talked about.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: You said at the top with Moses. They know what
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: our plays are, they know our cadences. I mean, just
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: to get to go against another team that it's more
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: of a level playing field against that defense.
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: They're a little and it's just it's better preparation.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: You can see why the coaches enjoy it. I mean,
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: I do think I don't think we've mentioned it too.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: I mean, it does seem like they're going to do
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: two with the Vikings.
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: I mean we've gone back to one. Last year was one.
- 1:40:02Speaker 8: This year was you know, one with the Commanders, But
- 1:40:04Speaker 8: it's gonna be two with the Vikings. To me, I
- 1:40:06Speaker 8: just wondered as that, you know, a sign of just
- 1:40:08Speaker 8: trust between Kevin O'Connell and and Rabel that it's not
- 1:40:12Speaker 8: gonna be like we were in Green Bay when the
- 1:40:13Speaker 8: first eight plays of the second day practices were all fights.
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: You know, it was bad.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: Claire Claire Wright, Hello Marine ill everyone, she said, friend
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: on her Majesty's secret Servey. It wasn't the first bond
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: I stand corrected. It was Midway, but George Lazenbee's only
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: movie and it was one of the worst ones, So
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: I got doubt that, right. Claire's British, Yeah, George Lazenbe
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: and she agrees with you. She says, Marine, You're right,
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: Brosnan did the Bond best, So I.
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: Think he had the best bond girl of.
- 1:40:45Speaker 10: You're gonna say Ali Berry if we're being honest, I
- 1:40:48Speaker 10: really feel like it's Daniel Craig. But like all the
- 1:40:51Speaker 10: O G Vond fans like my dad would never say
- 1:40:53Speaker 10: it's Daniel Craig because it's too nostalgic for them to
- 1:40:55Speaker 10: say Connery or Roger Moore. But I think in terms
- 1:40:58Speaker 10: of the movies themselves, like his movies are were the best,
- 1:41:02Speaker 10: like Skyfallowers, Oh yeah, yeah, awesome movie.
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: I've seen piece of You know what I like about
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: you know Craig though, is that he looks more like
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: a villain right an, But he plays a good guy,
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: doesn't he have just the.
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: Look of like well looks Ian Fleming's book Bond was
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: he had like the double side to.
- 1:41:17Speaker 11: Me, he's on the line.
- 1:41:18Speaker 10: Yeah, he does some things that he like you are
- 1:41:21Speaker 10: not on like interesting not to the letter of the law,
- 1:41:24Speaker 10: Ye for sure.
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he was, you know, straddling that line.
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: Just like almost Father Fred esque. Yes, yes, you know,
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: willing to push the envelope.
- 1:41:35Speaker 10: When but he has to do it because these villains
- 1:41:39Speaker 10: are like super villain. So the only way he's going
- 1:41:41Speaker 10: to bring down the villain is if he kind of
- 1:41:42Speaker 10: toes that line.
- 1:41:43Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good, that's a good like button for some
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: of the series. And Father Fred is like when he
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: goes to confession and there's like a.
- 1:41:48Speaker 8: Certain priest that he always goes to that knows all secrets,
- 1:41:51Speaker 8: and then like maybe he gets kidnapped, and Father Fred's worried,
- 1:41:54Speaker 8: like it's all going to get out, all the sneakers.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: He has to go to the eighty three year old,
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: staunchly Irish half Like I.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: Go into confession, it's light out and then at the
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: end it's dunk out because I've been in there that long.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: Father O'Shaughnessy has to hear Fred's Confession's.
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: Been kidnapped, Fred, We've got to find him.
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: Episode two one, Yeah, two to one. Yeah, Well we
- 1:42:15Speaker 4: hit it big.
- 1:42:16Speaker 8: Syndication ten Yeah, Joe and Vermont.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: The other emailer was correct about the curse portrayal. I
- 1:42:27Speaker 2: need more Salt and Pepper shows because that's the only
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: time my emails get rid. Remember Salt and Pepper, Remember
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: they came here that that was evident me like, oh no,
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: we had a We had a listener who came in
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: with his girlfriend and they were like salt and pepper.
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they've all left us.
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: Maybe just Fred's presence increases email quantity times ten. In
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: all seriousness, what are the Patriots going to do with
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: the tight end depth if they go into season with
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: Henry Hooper and no fullback.
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: It's another great example to what Paul said. If Hunter
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: Henry goes down, it starts.
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: To in the other part, you know, roster building wise.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: You know, yes, we can all say Lampi is on
- 1:43:10Speaker 4: the team and that would be one of those tight ends,
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: right or one of these guys plays his way onto
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: the roster and this is a handful.
- 1:43:19Speaker 11: Of west Over CJ.
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: Dippery is a G Scott or Scott G jam Bell
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: jahem Bell Foma draft pick. If one of these guys
- 1:43:31Speaker 4: has a strong camp and there's gonna be opportunity because
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: Hooper's driving at least out for now, it's not driving
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: the bott I'm sorry.
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: It's what we do.
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: I was just gonna say, we can't let down the audience.
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: What are you doing, David the Philippines you're watching David.
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: The Philippines wants to know if we know what's going
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: on with Poke.
- 1:43:55Speaker 8: Report today that he had a little stiffness and that
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: they're taking cautious in.
- 1:43:59Speaker 11: The shoulder patness is what it was reported as, which a.
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: Little strange in his shoulder. But I mean, well he
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: had being precautions really, but.
- 1:44:07Speaker 10: I guess he passed his physical is all reported this,
- 1:44:10Speaker 10: But he passed his physical. But then I was trying
- 1:44:13Speaker 10: to get out there probably earlier this week and felt
- 1:44:16Speaker 10: some some tightness my arm.
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: It's broke on my own.
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: Mark's in Connecticut on the hotline. What's up? Mark?
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Mark?
- 1:44:27Speaker 9: I just.
- 1:44:30Speaker 13: What the robin? The robin?
- 1:44:32Speaker 19: That was just a training camp today And I got
- 1:44:35Speaker 19: to go up and say ida Al exposed before he
- 1:44:37Speaker 19: got on ninety eight five.
- 1:44:39Speaker 13: That was cool.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: Nice, Sorry for that. So do you have a good
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: time today?
- 1:44:45Speaker 9: Has a very good time happened?
- 1:44:46Speaker 19: What did you think of the training beyond Henderson wheel
- 1:44:49Speaker 19: wound with the explosive speed that the.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Kids got, Kid's got great speed.
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:44:54Speaker 10: He had hid catching the flat today where he scooted
- 1:44:57Speaker 10: it a little bit after the catch with it, I
- 1:44:59Speaker 10: mean you.
- 1:44:59Speaker 11: Can see it floats.
- 1:45:00Speaker 10: Yeah, obviously that's one of those guys that for McDaniels,
- 1:45:04Speaker 10: just finding ways to get him the ball in space,
- 1:45:06Speaker 10: like you don't want to force feed it.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: But what was your favorite part about camp today? Mark?
- 1:45:12Speaker 11: Meeting Alex Bart of course, of course.
- 1:45:15Speaker 19: Well absolutely, yeah, I got to talk to him. But
- 1:45:19Speaker 19: actually I got to say Caleb Burton and.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: Oh right, wow, he's the Burton family. Great. So you
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: get you know, any autographs or any anything, try any food.
- 1:45:32Speaker 19: I'm actually gonna go meet Bob Douglass at Kowloons thirteen.
- 1:45:38Speaker 2: Okay, you got a date with all right, sounds good
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: at the Kowloon up in Saugust.
- 1:45:45Speaker 19: There.
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: Okay, Kowloon the Kowloon, all right, that sounds like a
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: good all right, Well thanks Mark, thanks for checking in. Mark.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: Was that practice today?
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: I got to go back there. I haven't been there
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: since cheez, I think I haven't.
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: I can't remember.
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: Like the week of graduation we do all kinds of events,
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: and I think that was the last time I went there.
- 1:46:02Speaker 8: We went whole like class of ninety nine.
- 1:46:05Speaker 10: It's like a it's a big deal, like they have
- 1:46:08Speaker 10: like Andy Wong's like all over the place.
- 1:46:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Jackie in and Arbor. I've read every one of
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: Ian Fleming's Bond books. Bond was an assassin, a cold
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: blooded killer. He was also a highly educated, refined English gentleman.
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: Sean Connery was by far the best Bond and it's
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: not even close. I could explain it in excruciating detail
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: why that is, but we don't have time.
- 1:46:31Speaker 10: He was fantastic, But to be consistent with my take
- 1:46:35Speaker 10: on Jaws, his movies were obviously came out a very
- 1:46:40Speaker 10: long time ago, so it's a little bit of a
- 1:46:42Speaker 10: different level of.
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: Do they not hold up?
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan in the world
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: and probably our closest listener to James Bond said Brosnin
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: was the best. Craig is too emotional. He needs to
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: smoke some weed and PS is the only US call
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: and number of the free phone. One can't seem to connect.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:47:03Speaker 11: Pierce Brosident was very good.
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: I would like a book recommendation. I'd like to read it,
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: James Bond book. I'll do that for anyone. I guess, kay,
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: I will.
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: Okay, you're leaving me, Mike. I'll be the only one
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: that has no interest, no knowledge I'm interested in the books,
- 1:47:23Speaker 4: and people say it's it really describes the character. And
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: I mean I kind of have a you know, preaking
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: not preconc but I have a notion of what James
- 1:47:30Speaker 4: Bond is based on the handful of movies that I
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: have seen.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: So who was the character Robert Ludlam's book, his famous
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: spy character.
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: Oh, Jason Born read books? Uh did you? I think
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: I did read the first one. But I saw the movies.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Yeah, well the books.
- 1:47:48Speaker 8: Matt Damon taking somebody down with a rolldout magazine. That
- 1:47:51Speaker 8: was pretty fun.
- 1:47:52Speaker 10: There's nothing wrong with some Matt Damon action movie. Paul
- 1:47:55Speaker 10: doesn't not interested, also doesn't like Born.
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: I saw all of them. Yeah, you Identity Supremacy. I
- 1:48:01Speaker 4: watched The Boy. I told you it's not an anti
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: action movie thing. It's that's not accurate. It's a little
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: bit of an anti c G. I like superhero thing
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: that I'm not really Jameson. No, no, no, So I'm
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: just saying it has nothing to do with it.
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: Transformers. No, tried to use a little, use a lot less.
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: I have seen, I mean nowhere near like all of them,
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: like you, all of the Marvel movies, all the you know.
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: But I have seen probably double digits, and I don't
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: dislike them. They're just not my thing. I don't have
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: to rush out to go see them, you know. And
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: I've heard really good things about the most recent Superman thing.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: Every everybody that has gone to see it says it
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: was pretty good, worth worth worth a watch. Politics rails
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: really short, huh wow, what politics?
- 1:48:58Speaker 11: Just watch the movie.
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: It's great.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: James Gunman in the Immigrant comments about Superman the fan
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: days and half.
- 1:49:04Speaker 11: Well, it's funny because I didn't catch it. I know
- 1:49:08Speaker 11: what he's talking about, and I'm going to choose to
- 1:49:09Speaker 11: stay away from it.
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: Because Randy writes in he's from Providence. What I was saying, Oh,
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: we couldn't hear him was May's growth should be about
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: limiting mistakes, mirroring the Tom Brady planned years ago where
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: he wasn't asked to do a lot, just not lose
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: games and learned to take what the defense gives him.
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: And you guys made fun of me when I pointed
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: out that he led the league in touchdown passes in
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: year two.
- 1:49:31Speaker 11: Well, he just didn't lose the game.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: He managed it.
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, just managing games. Leading the league in touchdown pass.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: That was a long time ago, but Josh Allen had
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: a similar growth arc. Last year. There were only six
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: quarterbacks with a worse interception rate than May's three point
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: zero Richardson, Jamis, Winston, will Levis, Kirk, Cousins, Gardner, Minshew
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: and Mac Jones. Learning to limit mistakes is definitely something
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: he needs to.
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: Work on the part, I agree one hundred percent.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: Do you hear that Justin Field's got car it off to.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: Day He's okay, Oh he's okay to sorry, dislocated toe
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: not considered significant, okay.
- 1:50:06Speaker 11: To which I say, the hysteriover was.
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: You get carted off with it just located to that.
- 1:50:14Speaker 10: Could have just been like their practice facility. It's like
- 1:50:17Speaker 10: it's a long while.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd have to see it to make a definitive
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: that was I.
- 1:50:21Speaker 10: Think that was Twitter like way overreacting to something that
- 1:50:25Speaker 10: was ended up being.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: It sounds like people weren't really paying attention all of
- 1:50:28Speaker 4: a sudden the quarterback went down and they were like, oh,
- 1:50:30Speaker 4: he's getting carted off.
- 1:50:31Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:50:32Speaker 8: I like the way of looking at that though for
- 1:50:33Speaker 8: me and not focusing on we need you to be superman,
- 1:50:36Speaker 8: you know, just the baby steps, clean it up, play consistent,
- 1:50:40Speaker 8: take the profit, and if we get in a situation
- 1:50:44Speaker 8: or a game where we need you to do something special, hopefully.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: You can do it right.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: You don't have to put the pressure on you to
- 1:50:50Speaker 5: be special. Just execute.
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Agree with everything.
- 1:50:52Speaker 10: Mike just said, yeah, not to you know, compare him
- 1:50:55Speaker 10: to Mahomes, but like I feel like that that was
- 1:50:57Speaker 10: like sort of Mahomes' evolution more than Josh. Like now
- 1:51:01Speaker 10: Mahomes just does just enough to win the game. Like
- 1:51:04Speaker 10: he doesn't. He doesn't run around as much as he
- 1:51:06Speaker 10: used to, and he's not throwing bombs all the time
- 1:51:09Speaker 10: like he did it early on in his career. Now
- 1:51:12Speaker 10: he is a very very good game manager.
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: So I would just say in terms of statistics, I
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: don't really care. I don't think Jayden Daniels the statistics
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: were eye popping last year and I'm just calling him
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: up right now. He completed sixty ninety percent of his throws,
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: which is a high. That's a pretty high completion rate
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: for a rookie. Thirty five hundred and sixty eight yards,
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: twenty five touchdowns, nine picks. His stats are pedestrian, I
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: mean one hundred passer rating nowadays is like twentieth, right,
- 1:51:44Speaker 4: but what did he do in the situations that Evan's
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: talking about. He was the reason they won. So yes,
- 1:51:51Speaker 4: he doesn't have to be superman for seventeen games for
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: four quarters, but he might have to be superman more
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: than a half dozen times when it counts. That was
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: Tom Brady. And by the way, that was Tom Brady
- 1:52:06Speaker 4: in two thousand and one when the game needed to
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: be won. He was near perfect almost always fourth quarter
- 1:52:14Speaker 4: in Denver notwithstanding. Right, Yeah, I mean he that's what
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: separates these guys. Jayden Daniels didn't just light up every
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: team he played last year. Now this doesn't also give
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: his rushing totals, but Drake May's gonna have good rushing
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: totals too. He had great rushing numbers last year. What
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: does he do when the game's on the line, and
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: can he keep those turn itovers down?
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: How cool is he?
- 1:52:37Speaker 10: In the pressure from Daniels last year or through the
- 1:52:39Speaker 10: game when he touched down to McLaurin and just like
- 1:52:41Speaker 10: put it right, I was just thinking, yeah, it is
- 1:52:44Speaker 10: like under like a game when he walk off type
- 1:52:47Speaker 10: of touchdown and just throw him right down the field
- 1:52:49Speaker 10: and then threw an absolute dime.
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: But I mean even thinking early in the year, there
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: was a game against Cincinnati. I want to say it
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: was like a Monday night game or a Thursday night game,
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: and they just Cincinnati just kept scoring and getting within
- 1:53:01Speaker 4: a score. And the fourth quarter, you know those those
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: hard first downs that you have to crank out. Fourth down,
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: they go for already runs for it, third and long.
- 1:53:10Speaker 4: They throw a pass, deep pass to mcclorin on the side,
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: and they put the game away with a touchdown pass
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: beating the blitz they sent everybody at them.
- 1:53:16Speaker 11: I think we're talking about the same point.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: Those the individual those are the individual moments where games
- 1:53:22Speaker 4: need to be won. How do you play that? Is Superman? Again,
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: the stats don't tell you he's Superman. Twenty five and nine.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: That's a really good rookie year. It's a really good
- 1:53:32Speaker 4: rookie year. But it's not anything that I would say
- 1:53:36Speaker 4: that there's no way Drake May's going to throw go
- 1:53:38Speaker 4: twenty five and nine this year. Of course he could.
- 1:53:40Speaker 10: I feel like a lot of that is like where
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: you're most confident about like Rabel, and I feel like
- 1:53:47Speaker 10: Rabel is going to put a much bigger emphasis on
- 1:53:50Speaker 10: leadership and clutch and knowing what the game needs when
- 1:53:54Speaker 10: it needs it, and like not so much about making
- 1:53:58Speaker 10: you know, highlight real plays that they're going to on
- 1:54:00Speaker 10: on Drake May's you know, melt when they show him
- 1:54:03Speaker 10: on Sports Center, but like more so like all these
- 1:54:05Speaker 10: other little things that we're talking about, and I feel
- 1:54:08Speaker 10: like Rabel is already sort of trying to hammer some
- 1:54:12Speaker 10: of those things even in practice.
- 1:54:14Speaker 8: It's a great comment, paulse It's just it's this isn't
- 1:54:16Speaker 8: exactly what I mean, but it's like special is intangible almost,
- 1:54:19Speaker 8: and you can look at the guys who throw the
- 1:54:21Speaker 8: most touchdowns and you know, throw the most interceptions. But
- 1:54:24Speaker 8: really the trait that's going to define greatness in the
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: NFL the quarterback position is do you perform when the
- 1:54:30Speaker 8: game's on the line and win those games.
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: Like, let's not make this out to be like if
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: we can get just a nice game manager who stays
- 1:54:36Speaker 4: out of trouble and avoids mistakes, that's not what we're
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: looking for. That's not enough. I don't I'm just making
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: for myself. That's not enough for me. They chock this
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: guy with a third overall pick. I don't want Trent
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: Dilfer I don't want to win a title despite the quarterback.
- 1:54:51Speaker 4: I want to win a title because of the quarterback.
- 1:54:54Speaker 4: And that will remain to be seening. Don't don't lose
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: the game in the first three quarters and be ready
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: to win the game in the four.
- 1:55:00Speaker 10: And that's like the line that they have to balance
- 1:55:01Speaker 10: because like, in order to get the turnovers down and stuff,
- 1:55:04Speaker 10: he's going to have to be a little bit more conservative.
- 1:55:06Speaker 10: But you also don't want it to be a detriment
- 1:55:08Speaker 10: where it's it's Trent dover right, you know you wanted
- 1:55:11Speaker 10: to You want to still have that balance of him
- 1:55:14Speaker 10: being able to go out and make plays.
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: And I love his aggressiveness going down the field.
- 1:55:17Speaker 8: It's something that stood out to me last year in camp,
- 1:55:19Speaker 8: like he just hope they don't take that away from
- 1:55:22Speaker 8: you know, I'm a little I am too.
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: Kai James writes, and I now you all might be
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: tired of the uniform conversations, but you're failing to highlight
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: one major issue with the Blueberries. I myself want the
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: Dynasty uniforms back, not only because the silver on them,
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: but because of the number, lettering font. When they change
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: the unis in twenty twenty, they changed the lettering and
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: numbers to a more straight looking font. Look at Edelman's
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: eleven from both you will notice they removed the bottom
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: stand under the number one. Likewise, the last name lettering
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: looks much more boring without the traditional Patriots font bordering.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: I feel as if that is a sneaky underlying reason
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: why we don't like Kai in Kentucky's my peeps. I totally,
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: he calls himself Kentucky James.
- 1:56:10Speaker 5: It's such a nerd thing too.
- 1:56:11Speaker 4: But like I even just really liked the font that
- 1:56:13Speaker 4: they had for the name plates on the Dynasty uniforms.
- 1:56:16Speaker 4: And I can't explain why, but everything he said, I
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: get it. Congratulation.
- 1:56:20Speaker 11: The blueberries just aren't good.
- 1:56:22Speaker 10: It's okay, yeah, no, no, And I don't think I
- 1:56:24Speaker 10: can say that because I don't think they're gonna wear
- 1:56:27Speaker 10: the full blueberry anymore. I think they're gonna do blue
- 1:56:30Speaker 10: on top with silver pants, so it's I think we're
- 1:56:33Speaker 10: away from that. But the look of the one color
- 1:56:36Speaker 10: from it's just it just too much blue.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: Yeah, too much?
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: All right, listen, that's gonna be it for this edition
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: of Patriots Unfiltered. We've got practice tomorrow, so we'll be
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: out there and you guys will have your wrap up
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: podcast right after that camp cast. Yep, so we'll have
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: that same thing on Saturday. There'll be another practice on Saturday,
- 1:56:58Speaker 2: which will be at players are Off on Sunday, and
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: then we'll be back at it on Monday with a

- 1:57:09Speaker 2: will be there. So until then, everybody, have a good
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: weekend and as far as this show, we'll see him Monday.
