- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Embrace the reset.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Today in season two, episode seven, we're going to talk about the power of starting again.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: What if I told you the reason most people never reach their potential?
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: It isn't because they fail, but because they don't know how to restart.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Today I'm going to show you why tomorrow morning may be the greatest advantage that you've been overlooking.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Stay with me.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: For those of you that have been tracking with us, I want to welcome you back to the No Time to Waste Podcast Studio.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: I'm your guide, Marcus Murray.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: This is season two, episode seven.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And today's decision is going to be very, very clear.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Will you treat today or each new day as ordinary or will you use it as an opportunity to relaunch?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Most people think success comes from these incredible breakthroughs, almost like winning the lottery, a lucky moment, just having a great year, everything aligning, all things just seem to work out.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Success actually happens for people that understand the concept of restarting, people that know how to restart well.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: And that's what we're going to talk about.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: So each day that you wake up, it's actually a very clear indicator of a restart.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I want you to imagine it as like a mini life.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Each new day is like another opportunity to live again.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Every sunrise is like a reboot.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: It's a relaunch where you're able to, what's the word I want to use, reclaim the authority over your life.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So regardless of what happened yesterday, regardless of what happened last week, when you see the sun rise in the morning, that is a brand new day, a brand new opportunity for a restart.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Now, most people think that maybe somehow that means life will be trouble free.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: That's not the case.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: We are all going to make mistakes.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And many of us have made mistakes.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: If you, as a matter of fact, you should probably pinch yourself.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And if you feel your fingers pinching your skin, yep, you're one of the ones that have made a mistake as well.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: So the problem isn't really the mistakes that we've made.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: The problem is when we drag the mistake of yesterday into today.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: We've got to let that go and look at it as a learning experience, a lesson, something that we can glean information and data from.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And then we use that information to reboot the next day.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: We don't let that sit as like a weight on our shoulders.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Yesterday's failure.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, you may have failed yesterday, but let's keep moving.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: So successful people don't actually avoid failure because failure is a reality.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: But how do you look at life and how do you look at the experience when you failed?
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: So if it was a bad meeting, let's say yesterday you were in the boardroom and the meeting just didn't go the way you wanted it to go.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Hey, restart, have another meeting next week.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: What if you missed your workout?
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Just because we're right now moving through a year and the years are moving faster than ever, that's why we realize there is no time to waste.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: But if you missed your workout last week, start again this week.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Just do your workout.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: If you had an argument at home, you had an argument with your spouse, you had a bad encounter with your kids, get over it and restart.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: You had a wasted week last week where you accomplished absolutely nothing.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about it.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Restart every time the sun rises, that is your indicator that this is your restart.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Remember, no time to waste.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So what I found is that the people that are the most successful people that I know, people that I interact with frequently, CEOs, people that run extremely large and successful organizations, and we're talking back and forth.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Nobody and everyone, like everyone, like one of my dearest friends, his company does millions of dollars a year and above 50 million a year, and he has setbacks and problems all the time.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And yet that's not the focus of the conversation.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Each time we speak, we're talking about the breakthrough, right?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, I see people in our industry and in what we do on a day-to-day basis, and they're working their jobs, and some little thing goes wrong.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: They run over a nail and they get a slow leak in their tire.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: They forget to put gas in the car and they barely make it, and they're and they're so focused on the fact that they forgot to put the gas in the car, they forget that the gas station is a reset.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Something so simple and so clear.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: It's right in front of them.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: The power, the power in life and in your journey toward success is not perfection.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: It's about re-engagement.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: So it's when you re-up each time you get up again.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: So it's not that successful people don't fall.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Successful people do fall, but the reason you know they're successful is because they got back up.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: That's the key to this whole thing.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So every morning is actually the best way to put it.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: It's like a leadership decision.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: You're making a decision that you're not reacting to yesterday.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: You're making the decision to actually design tomorrow.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: You are not a failure, not at all.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: What we need to do is identify where we erred and then make the adjustment, recalibrate, readjust, and then we move forward.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: So if we look at each day, each sunrise as an opportunity to reboot, to reclaim, to reinvent, to redesign, it's a beautiful thing.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: That's why it's a restart.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: When that sun comes up, that's a reminder that it's time to reboot.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: And when you reboot from one day to the next day, you don't go into the new day rehearsing regret about the old day.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: You have to go into the new day strategizing.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: What I find is that many people spend their time replaying or rewinding and repeating old conversations.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: If it was a negative conversation, what is the value of repeating it over and over again?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: It's actually making it more permanent instead of making it a learning experience, a bridge into your new day.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Well, they also relive business mistakes.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: I've made them, you'll make them, but does that mean business doesn't work?
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Not at all.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: There are people that have launched out, they've tried home-based businesses, they've done this, done that, it didn't work.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Does that mean none of them work?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Does that mean there's a blanket of failure on top of your possibility and your potential?
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: No, it doesn't.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: There are people that have tensions in marriage.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: My wife Ladonna and I do marriage ministry.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: And one of the things we find with many of the couples, some couples do a lot of rehashing over marriage tension.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Like at some point, you've got to reboot.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: You've got to restart.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: When we start thinking about our health, many people run into situations where you ate the wrong thing or you didn't eat the right thing, or you ate too much fast food.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: That was when?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Yesterday.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Can we let it go?
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Restart when the sun comes up, that is a brand new day.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: And there's a scripture that I want to share with you that's really good.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And it comes from Lamentations.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And this is Lamentations 3 and 22.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And it says, it's the Lord's mercies that are not consumed.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: They are new every morning.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: So think about this.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: If God realizes that we require mercy, new mercy every single morning, that is an indicator that God understands.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: You get a new opportunity for a reboot.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: The scripture actually says there's one scripture that says, Behold, I do a new thing.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: That's really interesting.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Even God starts.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And that's what we have to know that each day, it's like a new life, a new opportunity, and we get an opportunity to start.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Before 9 a.m., it's really key.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: There are some things that we have to do before 9 a.m.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: We have to define a win.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: What you want to do as the morning starts is you want to identify a few things that you want to accomplish that day.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Write them down.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Start with one thing should be extremely easy, a no-brainer.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: I always say, make your bed.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: The second thing should be something a little tougher, which is organize something.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: And the third thing should be one task that you want to accomplish.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: You want to define it so that you know what this win is going to look like.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Then you have to protect your focus.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: How do you do this?
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Before 9 a.m., you take the first portion of your day to connect with the creator.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: God is there.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: He's waiting for you.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: He's ready for this restart.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: And he wants to be a part of your success.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: And then decide the discipline action you're going to take in this day.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Remember, this is before 9 a.m.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Make the decision that there are certain things you're not going to do today because they weren't helpful in your yesterday.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Because the fact of the matter is in life, you're not going to just haphazardly drift like a boat on water into success.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Success is by design.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Success is by repeatedly doing effective and productive things day in and day out.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: So this is all a part of reclaiming your authority over the day, not judging yourself, not thinking that it's too late.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to start again.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to go back to school.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to get that degree that you missed.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to enroll in an online university.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to start your exercise program.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to change your diet.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: It's not too late to marry again.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: It's not too late.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: You're not washed up.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: It's not over.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: As a matter of fact, you must look at tomorrow as your new morning.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: You're going to reclaim, reprioritize, you're going to demonstrate some new emotional discipline and you're going to experience it because now you realize today is not just continuing to drag the bag.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Today is your new beginning.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: You're going to change your spiritual posture.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: I tell everyone, if what you've believed all of these years hasn't worked, why not try God?
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: If the most stable thing over all of your life, and I encourage everyone to do this, write it down, do an inventory.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Where are the most stable things over your entire life as it relates to God?
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Where did those occur?
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: And then that reminds us, right, that God is there.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Yesterday is not lost.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: This is simply a new beginning.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: So in the beginning of this particular episode, I asked you a question, and it was very simple.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: And I'm not sure if you remember it.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: And it was why is restarting more powerful than grinding?
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: And it's a very simple thing.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Restarting gives you a fresh, fresh beginning.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: It allows clarity, consistency, momentum, and emotional resilience.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: The people that win long term are not the people that are the most talented.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: They're the people that restart it the best.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Now, these are the last questions I want to ask you before we end with a letter to my son.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: What is it that you're carrying from yesterday that doesn't belong in today?
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Identify it and get it out of here.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: What would you change if you treated tomorrow morning like a relaunch?
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: What would you do differently?
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And then what habit should you reboot immediately?
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: What thing needs to be changed?
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And as a matter of fact, what conversation would you reset?
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Because we've all had them.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I want to close with this.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: I want to share a letter to my son.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: I actually have three of them, so it's good for all.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: My son, life will give you more chances than you think, but they won't come with an announcement.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Every morning, mercy will come quietly.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: It doesn't shout.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: It's a gift to you from our Creator, God Himself.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: You will have mistakes though.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: You will make mistakes.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: You will misjudge people, you will waste time, and you'll actually say things that you regret.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: But hear me clearly.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: A wise man doesn't measure himself by yesterday's mistakes.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: He measures himself by today's responses.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Don't drag failure into tomorrow.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: And don't let pride stop you from resetting.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: And please, don't allow shame to rob you of momentum.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: If you fall, get up quickly.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: If you drift, correct immediately the moment you recognize it.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: And if you lose focus, reclaim it without apology.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Because success doesn't belong to the flawless.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: And I can tell you that from experience, it belongs to the faithful.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: And faithfulness often looks like starting again and again and again, owning it and starting again.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: Every sunrise is permission, every breath is an invitation, and every new day is a relaunch.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Live like a man who understands that tomorrow is not guaranteed.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: It's simply a gift from God.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: Make it count.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: Love add.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Now, with that being said, we have reached the end of this episode, and I'm so very proud of you embarking on this journey.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: And it's going to be so extraordinary as we get through the 52 decisions that every successful person must make.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Now let's go and seize the day.
