- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to KFI AM six forty the Bill handles
- 0:04Speaker 1: show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I remember the cough button. I don't see it anymore.
- 0:14Speaker 2: That would actually be a pause button in the cough
- 0:17Speaker 2: enable you to cough, so you don't have to turn
- 0:19Speaker 2: of the mic on or off. I never once used
- 0:22Speaker 2: the cough button because I was convinced there would be
- 0:24Speaker 2: metal fingers coming out from underneath the desks grabbing my
- 0:29Speaker 2: gonaz and saying turn left and cough. That's how they
- 0:33Speaker 2: used to test for hernias. By the way, little medical joke. Okay,
- 0:37Speaker 2: come and now Handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Here's Bill Handle.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Good morning everybody. It is a Friday. It's a footy Friday,
- 0:51Speaker 2: July tenth, and we start. I like Fridays. First of all,
- 0:57Speaker 2: we have Neil, who is always here anyway, but it's
- 1:01Speaker 2: a foody Friday topic. So Neil prior to the Fok
- 1:05Speaker 2: Report on Saturday, we do a half hour and then
- 1:09Speaker 2: ask Handle anything. Will came in. We're sitting here in
- 1:13Speaker 2: the studio. Will came in and we talked about something
- 1:16Speaker 2: about him being heavy or whatever.
- 1:18Speaker 3: No, I said, he was solid. I gave him a hub.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Oh that's it, that's right.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's right, solid, right, it's not he's not doweye.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, you said he was solid and I said, no,
- 1:28Speaker 2: he's fat. I feel the love I know you do.
- 1:33Speaker 2: And he said he has abs that where where do
- 1:37Speaker 2: you have? Is it Halloween and we're covering them up?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Is that what's happening?
- 1:43Speaker 3: No, he's feel strong.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I felt safe in his.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Arms, Thank you, Neil. He's strong for a fat guy.
- 1:52Speaker 3: He's not fat.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Okay, you're a.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Sad little man.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I am a sad little man. I'm not so little anymore.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You know. When I was fat, God, I love saying that.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But I would do all these events. You know, we
- 2:09Speaker 2: did a lot of personal events, personal appearances, and people
- 2:12Speaker 2: would come up to me and and what we talked about,
- 2:15Speaker 2: of course being heavy, said you me everybody that worked
- 2:19Speaker 2: on the show for the most part. And people would
- 2:22Speaker 2: come up and they didn't know what we'd look like
- 2:24Speaker 2: days before the internet where everybody looks, you know, knows
- 2:27Speaker 2: what you look like, and said, wow, I thought you
- 2:30Speaker 2: were short, short, short and fat igot.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I never said I was short tempered.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but you know, people assume it's short and fat,
- 2:41Speaker 2: not big in fat. All right, enough of that. You
- 2:44Speaker 2: are huge, huge you You're huge.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Like Ken Champeau. He has that East Coast a little
- 2:51Speaker 3: bit of acted huge.
- 2:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It was a bunch of human drama.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, guys. Hello, hey, and there you are
- 3:00Speaker 2: here I am there you are. And there's a Neil Stirt.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Good morning, Neil, Good morning buddy, Happy Friday.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It HAPs Friday. You and uh there's uh where there's Will.
- 3:11Speaker 4: No.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Will is at the machine up down the hall at.
- 3:14Speaker 3: The Yeah, he's ben pressing. He's bench pressing the copyright will.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Good morning again. Good morning Bill and Amy, I said,
- 3:21Speaker 2: good morning, coming in this morning. You did. I did
- 3:23Speaker 2: it so kind of you.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I was, and I feel so honored that you acknowledged me.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So you should.
- 3:30Speaker 3: He knows your name, that's well he didn't.
- 3:33Speaker 4: For the first ten years. So this is an accomplishment.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah. And con O Hello, No, I didn't say hello.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And you're also not putting that microphone on. Your microphone
- 3:44Speaker 2: is not on Cono of all the people, oh boy,
- 3:47Speaker 2: oh people, all the people in the world that don't
- 3:50Speaker 2: have their micro.
- 3:51Speaker 4: It's still not on. Is it broken?
- 3:53Speaker 2: It's just changed? Oh? There you go, Okay, there you go.
- 3:56Speaker 4: The engineers were messing with the board.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Huh. And you're right, And I didn't. I don't know
- 4:00Speaker 2: people's names. It took it takes years for me to
- 4:02Speaker 2: figure out people's names.
- 4:03Speaker 4: And you know you just called me in.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I just well every.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Yeah the problem that to Valentine. Uh yeah, from Valentine
- 4:10Speaker 3: in the morning.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I did that. Probably we came in at the
- 4:14Speaker 2: same time, Valani and it was he goes, hey Bill,
- 4:20Speaker 2: and I go, hey, champ.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Sport, how you doing.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I yeah, I don't done. He goes, I'm Valentine. And
- 4:30Speaker 2: it was probably the fifteenth time that I finally oh, okay,
- 4:35Speaker 2: you're Valentine. I think it's early on set dementia. But
- 4:40Speaker 2: people are telling me that it's just I am not
- 4:42Speaker 2: mindful and I just don't care.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's it the last one. I don't
- 4:48Speaker 3: think you care.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I probably don't.
- 4:52Speaker 3: You hate everything about this show that isn't focused completely
- 4:55Speaker 3: on you.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I hate everything about life that isn't focused on me.
- 5:00Speaker 2: It's what is life if it's not focused on a
- 5:03Speaker 2: person who lives it.
- 5:06Speaker 3: There's other people in this world that count, billions that count.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yes, No, no, all right, anyway, good morning to one,
- 5:16Speaker 2: Good morning to all.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I tell you who do count?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Listeners? Listeners count?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and all the love you give them, I do
- 5:24Speaker 3: actually responding to their emails, and yeah, it's true listening
- 5:28Speaker 3: to the time.
- 5:29Speaker 2: True. I get a lot of people because we've been
- 5:31Speaker 2: on the air. I've been on the air for so long,
- 5:33Speaker 2: and people that started with me are my age and hey, Bill,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I get this. I've been listening to you for thirty years.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I get that, and I just tell them shut up.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I don't want to hear it, but it's all. I've
- 5:45Speaker 2: been listening to you for thirty years. Okay, I've been
- 5:48Speaker 2: listening to you for thirty years, and I inevitably say,
- 5:51Speaker 2: you know, we've both gotten old together and you look
- 5:54Speaker 2: like utter crap.
- 5:56Speaker 3: And you wear it horribly. See kind of quality connection
- 6:01Speaker 3: with your audience.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Okay, are you guys ready to go? It is time
- 6:06Speaker 2: on a Friday for a handle on the news, Amy,
- 6:08Speaker 2: Neil and me late. Sorry, Well, that housing affordability bill
- 6:17Speaker 2: that the President sort of yanks. Remember they had passed
- 6:21Speaker 2: overwhelmingly in the Senate and the House, I mean overwhelmingly,
- 6:25Speaker 2: and it attempts to well make housing more affordable a
- 6:31Speaker 2: bunch of different ways, making it easier to borrow money
- 6:34Speaker 2: and reduce red tape across the country. And the President
- 6:39Speaker 2: was set to pass it or sign it because it
- 6:42Speaker 2: had been passed, and literally it went off the table,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and I mean off the table because it had been
- 6:49Speaker 2: on the table. He was signing it, and then he
- 6:51Speaker 2: changed his mind and said nah, and they took away
- 6:55Speaker 2: the lectern and took away the lighting. And he now says, nope,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I want that Save Act. The what is it? The lawyer,
- 7:05Speaker 2: not the lawyer, the voting the idea, Yeah, thank you,
- 7:09Speaker 2: that's what I meant to say, voter id And he
- 7:11Speaker 2: thinks that's the most important thing in the world. He
- 7:13Speaker 2: says that, and does anybody care? I mean, who think
- 7:17Speaker 2: about this? Who cares about voting restrictions? How does it
- 7:22Speaker 2: affect anybody other than okay, you can't you have to
- 7:27Speaker 2: send in your vote a week earlier. Okay, how does
- 7:30Speaker 2: that affect us in the meantime? How about housing? You
- 7:33Speaker 2: think that affects anybody? And he said, oh no, the
- 7:37Speaker 2: Save Act is far more important. The housing is no
- 7:41Speaker 2: big deal. So they passed it and he may veto it,
- 7:46Speaker 2: which I can't imagine he would. My god, the backlasher
- 7:49Speaker 2: would be incredible. So if it just sits there without
- 7:54Speaker 2: his signature, it becomes law for ten days. And if
- 7:57Speaker 2: he tries to veto it, let me put it this way,
- 8:00Speaker 2: eighty five to five in the Senate, three fifty eight
- 8:02Speaker 2: to thirty two in the House, that is well on
- 8:05Speaker 2: its way to make that bill veto proof. He could
- 8:09Speaker 2: veto it and there's enough in the House and send
- 8:11Speaker 2: it to override the veto. Very rarely does that happen.
- 8:14Speaker 2: But you can't even figure out the politics of this.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I have no idea why he would do that. Okay,
- 8:20Speaker 2: moving on.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Super soakers on the way, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric
- 8:27Speaker 4: Administration NOAH says there is now a ninety seven percent
- 8:31Speaker 4: chance and El Nino will either be strong or very
- 8:36Speaker 4: strong this fall. There's an eighty one percent chance it'll
- 8:41Speaker 4: be very strong. El Nino means there's going to be
- 8:44Speaker 4: a higher chance of above average rainfall for southern California,
- 8:48Speaker 4: and that increases the risk of wintertime flash floods and landslides.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Officials also warn that the climate pattern characterized by warmer
- 8:59Speaker 4: weather in the central and Eastern Ocean will also increase
- 9:03Speaker 4: the risk of heat waves on land and at sea.
- 9:06Speaker 3: Wait, we get in rain or is it going to
- 9:08Speaker 3: be hot?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, can be very strong. It's to both. I mean,
- 9:11Speaker 2: it's just a climate is all screwed up by the
- 9:13Speaker 2: way El Nino. Isn't that your nephew? Also?
- 9:15Speaker 3: How dare you?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:17Speaker 3: You racist?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:18Speaker 3: Actually it is.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I know it is. But it's a small ones. It's
- 9:22Speaker 2: just the tiniest little small It's very big. That phrase
- 9:27Speaker 2: is very big in the dwarf community. It's okay, hanging
- 9:31Speaker 2: it out with dwarfs. Yeah, the Mexican dwarf community and
- 9:33Speaker 2: dwarf community dwarf.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Okay, what a scene man. So they're in Boil Heights.
- 9:39Speaker 3: We all know about the fire that has a butt
- 9:42Speaker 3: ton of this food and stench, eighty five million pounds
- 9:47Speaker 3: of food thowed, burned, spoiled, terrible smell, rats, and tensions
- 9:54Speaker 3: there in Boil Heights reached an intense level. Just yet,
- 10:00Speaker 3: yesterday a residence showed up to a packed house. More
- 10:05Speaker 3: than two hundred people were turned away at the door
- 10:07Speaker 3: because the venue reached capacity. Of course, Los Angeles Mayor
- 10:12Speaker 3: Karen Bass struggled even to start the meeting over the
- 10:16Speaker 3: loud booze yelling of community members, actions that were repeated
- 10:21Speaker 3: as other elected officials took to the microphone. A chorus
- 10:25Speaker 3: of liar was shouted out at her. Booze were shouted
- 10:31Speaker 3: because of the the lineage warehouse fire and how they
- 10:35Speaker 3: were just frustrated.
- 10:36Speaker 2: And what could be done? What are they doing? You
- 10:39Speaker 2: got what I understand, but I don't know what they
- 10:44Speaker 2: are not doing? Are they being slow on it? Is
- 10:47Speaker 2: there negligence?
- 10:48Speaker 3: Nothing we've been done that I'm aware of.
- 10:49Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what they could do.
- 10:51Speaker 2: They bring in the bulldozers?
- 10:53Speaker 3: Do they whatever it takes?
- 10:55Speaker 2: Well, I mean there's and I'm just questioning this because
- 10:58Speaker 2: I don't know. We don't know enough about it. But
- 11:01Speaker 2: what could they do that they are not doing? I
- 11:05Speaker 2: guess destroy the building, but then you have the debris
- 11:08Speaker 2: and I don't know the answer, but.
- 11:10Speaker 3: You gotta do something, So why not do it now?
- 11:14Speaker 2: So do something now? But what if you don't know what?
- 11:17Speaker 2: I don't know. What's something?
- 11:18Speaker 3: Got to be a money thing or something where they're going?
- 11:20Speaker 3: But it's like no, no, I can't just leave a
- 11:23Speaker 3: pile of.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Round And are they leaving it?
- 11:25Speaker 3: Just aren't they have something go into the palisades fire
- 11:28Speaker 3: and eating fire and start assessing the ground and everything else. Initially, yes,
- 11:36Speaker 3: but it wasn't rotting food.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It wasn't. It's it's I.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Think, where does rotting food go?
- 11:42Speaker 2: Now? It goes to rot, that goes to where we
- 11:45Speaker 2: take rot. It goes to the big rotting place in
- 11:48Speaker 2: the sky.
- 11:48Speaker 3: You want to go over there and see anything, If
- 11:50Speaker 3: anything is good as left, you and me probably could
- 11:53Speaker 3: clear out of that.
- 11:54Speaker 2: That's true.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Don't even think about it. Huntington Beach Police are warning
- 12:03Speaker 4: online organizers and promoters who are trying to put together
- 12:07Speaker 4: an end of summer beach bash or a takeover. They
- 12:11Speaker 4: said that they do not want to see a repeat
- 12:14Speaker 4: of Newport Beaches fourth of July, in which over four
- 12:17Speaker 4: hundred people were arrested. They were chasing people off the
- 12:20Speaker 4: beach with horses. The crowd looted a pavilions, got into
- 12:25Speaker 4: people's houses, and generally caused mayhem. So Huntington Beach says, yeah,
- 12:29Speaker 4: don't even think about it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: And Huntington Beach Police are no joke. They proudly wear
- 12:34Speaker 2: those swastika tattoos. Oh they're pretty conservative. I wouldn't tell you.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's a very right wing little community. The last place
- 12:43Speaker 2: I'd go ransacking someone's homes in Orange County. Flag equals
- 12:49Speaker 2: gun inside pretty much today, pretty much, all right?
- 12:54Speaker 3: Iran. Iran hatched a fresh plot, apparently to kill Trump.
- 12:59Speaker 3: This is what Isla is telling Trump. You gotta wonder
- 13:02Speaker 3: if you wanted to get under Trump's skin, that's what
- 13:06Speaker 3: you tell.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I would go the other way on that. I would
- 13:10Speaker 2: go the other way if there weren't threats against Trump.
- 13:15Speaker 2: He would say, why why aren't people threatening my life?
- 13:19Speaker 2: You know, come on, there's a true narcissism.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Why are they threatening other people not me?
- 13:26Speaker 2: I'm doing this at seven o'clock, by the way, because
- 13:28Speaker 2: there's a there's a whole story here.
- 13:30Speaker 3: So yeah, this is just is reel sharing intelligence for
- 13:32Speaker 3: the US.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And why and is it true? Is it not?
- 13:35Speaker 3: Well? Did you see some of the signs they were
- 13:37Speaker 3: showing on the news where they have killed Trump on
- 13:41Speaker 3: the signs and a bullet going through the name Trump?
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but that was is that local? Or is that yeah?
- 13:48Speaker 3: But they were showing it on the news here. I mean, that's.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Forward. And Trump is delighted because instead of just death
- 13:56Speaker 2: to America. It's death to Trump. Trump said, it's about
- 13:59Speaker 2: time you recognize.
- 14:00Speaker 3: That it was realteresting. It's always well, I'm sure Bush
- 14:05Speaker 3: bush Is and the like had their face on science.
- 14:10Speaker 4: A little late for regrets. Maybe The twenty three year
- 14:14Speaker 4: old who's accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk apparently
- 14:20Speaker 4: told his roommate about it shortly after the shooting. He
- 14:23Speaker 4: said he wished he hadn't done it. The video interview
- 14:27Speaker 4: of the roommate was played in a courtroom in Utah yesterday.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Prosecutors presented the recording as key evidence in a week
- 14:35Speaker 4: long preliminary evidentiary hearing, and the judge is expected to
- 14:41Speaker 4: decide by the end of today whether there's enough evidence
- 14:45Speaker 4: to take the case to trial.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I have I don't know the last time I've heard
- 14:49Speaker 2: of a preliminary hearing like this. It's enough just you
- 14:54Speaker 2: have the smallest, tiniest bit of evidence and the judge
- 14:58Speaker 2: binds it over for trying.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Well, they just did this with the David thing too,
- 15:02Speaker 4: though they had They've got all these pre trial things.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Now they're going to do evidentiary hearings to decide and
- 15:08Speaker 4: all that.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It's well, if you're doing evidence your hearing at this point,
- 15:14Speaker 2: and the only thing that makes sense is that these
- 15:16Speaker 2: motions are decided now by the judges, opposed to being
- 15:19Speaker 2: decided prior to the trial. But other than that, of
- 15:22Speaker 2: course he's going to be bound I hate. What I
- 15:25Speaker 2: dislike is the new saying, well, we're going to see
- 15:28Speaker 2: if it's going to be bound over for trial. It is.
- 15:31Speaker 2: The chances of going through preliminary hearing and not being
- 15:34Speaker 2: bound over one in one thousand. Anyway, quick tip matches.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Matches. What else? Flint rock? There's a lot of ways
- 15:47Speaker 3: to start a fire. Yeah, if you've ever taken any
- 15:50Speaker 3: mountain training, Well, this man must not have known that.
- 15:53Speaker 3: A man from Indiana charged with a felony after he
- 15:57Speaker 3: was accused of cutting off his own genitals and using
- 16:00Speaker 3: them to start a fire. I don't.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I didn't know those were incendiary devices either.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Little grenades. I don't.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I mean, so this took back took place back in May,
- 16:15Speaker 3: and he was charged with arts and after he said
- 16:20Speaker 3: he cut off his own penis, doused it with gasoline
- 16:23Speaker 3: and lit it on fire.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And the police did show up.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, they thought it was a barbecue.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yea, And the police showed up, and he did say
- 16:30Speaker 2: when they walked in past the.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Dijon, what's it? Oh?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Very strong, very strong?
- 16:42Speaker 3: Oh man, you know what this this freaking fascist country
- 16:48Speaker 3: we live in. It's gotten to the place where you
- 16:50Speaker 3: can't burn your own penis.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I are, you know, without getting arrested.
- 16:55Speaker 3: What's next? No fireworks? On the fourth of July. Nazi goal.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I love saying that that's.
- 17:04Speaker 3: The whitest goal I've ever heard.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Do you remember Heather Jordan who used to be an
- 17:09Speaker 4: anchor here?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Oh?
- 17:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I love she.
- 17:12Speaker 4: She has been doing stuff with the LAFC. She is
- 17:16Speaker 4: the stadium announcer in Dallas for World Cup. Wow, And
- 17:21Speaker 4: so the other day when they were playing, I could
- 17:23Speaker 4: hear her saying, go, it was very cool.
- 17:26Speaker 2: I wish here women's stadium announcers. What bell? What the
- 17:30Speaker 2: hell happened? I mean life?
- 17:32Speaker 3: They drive now too, Bill, unbelievable.
- 17:35Speaker 2: We love to job well. And yeah, the voting I
- 17:37Speaker 2: can see just barely. But other than that, I don't get.
- 17:41Speaker 4: It all right. Killian Mbappe spread his arms out wide
- 17:45Speaker 4: and spun around after scoring his eighth goal of this
- 17:48Speaker 4: year's World Cup. That means that he has twenty goals
- 17:52Speaker 4: in his World Cup career. It came in his twentieth
- 17:56Speaker 4: match at the tournament, which moves him just one behind
- 18:00Speaker 4: Argentinian legend Lionel Messi.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Soccer is in its heydays. I mean, yep, it's neat
- 18:10Speaker 2: that the United States has lost. Well, yeah, I mean
- 18:14Speaker 2: I was a given in the United States is a
- 18:15Speaker 2: lot I would lose because it's just not a world
- 18:17Speaker 2: power when it comes to soccer. But how we've accepted soccer.
- 18:21Speaker 2: It was the poor stepsister of sports and now s
- 18:27Speaker 2: it's become a thing and a big thing, which is
- 18:30Speaker 2: kind of neat.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Yep, big thing. And there's the last match at so
- 18:33Speaker 4: Far is today at noon.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and the I wonder what the tickets are for
- 18:39Speaker 2: the World champion, you know, the cup winner. We haven't
- 18:43Speaker 2: been for the.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Final, yeah, on the nineteenth or whatever.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm wondering how much they're going for.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Well, it's some of them at so Fire going for
- 18:50Speaker 4: like seventeen eighteen, nineteen thousand, nineteen thousand. Ye, the cheap
- 18:56Speaker 4: seats are going for eleven hundred.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Well, I'm assuming this is secondary market, right, yeah? Is
- 19:03Speaker 2: anybody even able to get face value on these games.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Well, I'm guessing that they sold out, didn't they.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Oh, of course, although the hotels are saying they didn't,
- 19:14Speaker 2: and that's another story.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Well, no, that got flipped. If you remember we talked
- 19:19Speaker 3: about this early on, the hotels were not getting a
- 19:22Speaker 3: response that they thought they were going to and they
- 19:25Speaker 3: were very concerned early on. However, last minute people came through.
- 19:30Speaker 3: So last minute they started booking rooms. And so it's end.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Up still not to the level. I mean some are
- 19:37Speaker 2: reporting that they did that they're doing worse than a
- 19:40Speaker 2: normal summer.
- 19:43Speaker 4: All the prices have dropped. See so you can get
- 19:47Speaker 4: almost well you're in the lower bowl for sixty six dollars.
- 19:54Speaker 3: So as the last tournament game in Los Angeles is
- 19:58Speaker 3: on Friday, hotels are uh popular now with soccer fans,
- 20:03Speaker 3: and they're full and they're charging higher rates actually, so
- 20:07Speaker 3: they're still you know, it's not hitting everyone, but the
- 20:11Speaker 3: ones that have been taken care of say that it's
- 20:14Speaker 3: there being saved by this last minute rush. So people
- 20:19Speaker 3: are going in there, which is good. They need they
- 20:22Speaker 3: need help. I think we're gonna have a resurgence of
- 20:25Speaker 3: hotels again. I think that it's getting so expensive to
- 20:28Speaker 3: do Airbnb or Verbo or anything, and you have to
- 20:31Speaker 3: jump through a lot of hoops and you don't get
- 20:34Speaker 3: somebody cleaning the rooms and doing stuff like that.
- 20:36Speaker 4: I do love having my room clean.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I love a good hotel now. I love an Airbnb too.
- 20:42Speaker 3: You know, you get a pool and you do all
- 20:43Speaker 3: that stuff. But there's something about room service and being
- 20:49Speaker 3: close to you know, some of these places. Palm Springs
- 20:52Speaker 3: is lovely to go to. Maybe not so lovely right now,
- 20:55Speaker 3: but things like that. You go out to Marongo and
- 20:57Speaker 3: the weather's great, and they've got the they've got the
- 21:02Speaker 3: lazy river.
- 21:03Speaker 2: I like a lazy now. Is it because you're lazy?
- 21:07Speaker 3: Yeah? And I like rivers.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Okay, yeah.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I would just float by and people would try and
- 21:11Speaker 3: use me as a flotation to mind because you look
- 21:13Speaker 3: like a yeah, this will fit for honey, bring the kids.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Warner Brothers is going to be the home base for
- 21:21Speaker 4: the LA Olympics, the Warner Brothers Ranch in Burbank. It's
- 21:25Speaker 4: going to be the broadcast headquarters. They made the announcement
- 21:30Speaker 4: yesterday that the thirty acre Hollywood Way campus would play
- 21:33Speaker 4: a pivotal role in the games, constructing an efficient TV
- 21:38Speaker 4: nerve center the operational hub where feeds from events are
- 21:41Speaker 4: produced and distributed to hundreds of millions of viewers around
- 21:44Speaker 4: the world.
- 21:46Speaker 2: I am assuming that this is about offering broadcasting an
- 21:51Speaker 2: office space to various outlets around the world that the
- 21:56Speaker 2: Olympic Committee says, here is where you can about, This
- 22:01Speaker 2: is where your reporters can be, This is where your
- 22:03Speaker 2: central control is going to be.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Makes sense.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and we have all the equipment, we have all
- 22:08Speaker 2: the lines, everything's ready to go. I'm assuming that that's
- 22:10Speaker 2: the case.
- 22:10Speaker 3: That's right. Just that's right down the street from here.
- 22:13Speaker 4: It's got sixteen down stages, a five story creative office building.
- 22:17Speaker 4: So yeah, it's got everything that they need.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, except all the really cool original sets that had
- 22:24Speaker 3: torn down recently. All right, quickly eviction averted. You know,
- 22:31Speaker 3: there's these formerly homeless people who are being housed with subsidies.
- 22:36Speaker 3: In light that we're supposed to expire in December, we're
- 22:40Speaker 3: no longer at risk because there's been an infusion of
- 22:43Speaker 3: new funds by Congress.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I misunderstand the funding was expiring or the people were
- 22:49Speaker 2: going to expire the way.
- 22:50Speaker 3: You said that. No, if the people were going to expire,
- 22:52Speaker 3: then this wouldn't be an issue.
- 22:54Speaker 2: That's correct, But then you have the same situation you
- 22:56Speaker 2: have at that food center because you have the rotting smell,
- 23:01Speaker 2: and it would be very.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Very differently on the house and the unlive. No, so
- 23:06Speaker 3: they they're that waiver has changed things. Now they've got
- 23:11Speaker 3: the money.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's federal and it's federal money that came in,
- 23:16Speaker 2: which is surprising.
- 23:17Speaker 3: And they all have to wear Trump shirt.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yes, that's true.
- 23:21Speaker 3: That's where they get you. There's the rough.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because I thought, and this is last minute money
- 23:25Speaker 2: coming in because they had already said you're going to
- 23:28Speaker 2: be evicted. They sent out thousands of hey, you're going
- 23:31Speaker 2: to be evicted notices.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Okay, well, the cupboards are almost bare at LAUSD. County
- 23:38Speaker 4: analysts say the district is facing severe indications it will
- 23:44Speaker 4: be insolvent by November of twenty twenty seven, that it
- 23:49Speaker 4: will fall two hundred and thirty one million dollars into
- 23:51Speaker 4: the red and won't be able to make payroll. The
- 23:55Speaker 4: county has appointed a fiscal expert to work with the
- 23:57Speaker 4: district to eliminate the projected deficit. They've got forty five
- 24:03Speaker 4: days to find a way to fix it. LA School
- 24:05Speaker 4: Superintendent Andres Chape suggested there's no need for alarm.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Of course not. And LA Unified still has the same
- 24:16Speaker 2: problems that always had that's never been able to attain,
- 24:20Speaker 2: and that is producing literate graduates.
- 24:25Speaker 3: They need to break a cycle. There's something going on
- 24:27Speaker 3: that just it's too big.
- 24:28Speaker 2: It's too big, and it's too management heavy, and it's
- 24:32Speaker 2: it's it'll not even do it.
- 24:36Speaker 3: They're better than we are.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, And I don't know, maybe they don't have as
- 24:39Speaker 2: much management.
- 24:42Speaker 3: All right, this is a bummer, and you should know
- 24:46Speaker 3: better as federal agents. But the federal agents that were
- 24:51Speaker 3: caught up in that shooting in Houston, they didn't have
- 24:54Speaker 3: body cameras. In this modern age with specially when you're
- 25:01Speaker 3: under the microscope and people don't trust you as an
- 25:04Speaker 3: organization or any of those things. How can you go
- 25:07Speaker 3: out without body cams.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Especially federal agents. Now you can't argue, we can't afford it.
- 25:13Speaker 2: They are literally drowning in money. So signed Trump administration
- 25:19Speaker 2: is doing for immigration makes it even worse. And it's
- 25:22Speaker 2: their usual line. It was the driver weaponized his car
- 25:28Speaker 2: and I mean all of that, and you know it's
- 25:31Speaker 2: just not going to fly.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.
- 25:39Speaker 4: We all hear those warnings, but apparently another person has
- 25:42Speaker 4: decided to ignore that. For the second time in less
- 25:44Speaker 4: than a month, a guest at Disneyland has climbed out
- 25:48Speaker 4: of the log ride boat on Tiana's By You Adventure,
- 25:52Speaker 4: that one that used to be Splash Mountain. The latest
- 25:55Speaker 4: one happened on July fourth. I was there, didn't see it.
- 25:58Speaker 4: A cast members the ride. They watched the rides on
- 26:02Speaker 4: closed circuit TV and noticed a child climb out of
- 26:05Speaker 4: the boat. The cast member stopped the ride. Now, if
- 26:09Speaker 4: you'll remember, back on June twenty first, a thirteen year
- 26:12Speaker 4: old climbed out of the boat just before it did
- 26:14Speaker 4: the big drop at the end of the ride. And
- 26:17Speaker 4: then that child went down the drop without a boat.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Have you noticed and you just literally it was just
- 26:24Speaker 2: a description that Okay, it's a given a guest at
- 26:29Speaker 2: Disneyland and a cast member. By the way, it's not
- 26:32Speaker 2: just Disney, It's it's corporations across the country. For example,
- 26:37Speaker 2: you are a guest at Target. Huh Sales Associates. I
- 26:43Speaker 2: how is a janitor part of a cast?
- 26:45Speaker 3: They are because they're all part of the show. If
- 26:48Speaker 3: you can see them, they're part of the show.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I don't no interact with them, Yeah you are, No,
- 26:55Speaker 2: because they're not. They're not acting as janitors. They really
- 26:59Speaker 2: are are Janet. That's not that job is not the
- 27:03Speaker 2: acting part. The acting part is being nice to people
- 27:06Speaker 2: like you. Oh yeah, I don't understand that. And I
- 27:09Speaker 2: just wondered where that when it become became that it's
- 27:14Speaker 2: always been ketch No, I don't know, it has not
- 27:17Speaker 2: for what it has not. I think Michael Eisner put
- 27:20Speaker 2: in the concept of cast member.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Huh.
- 27:23Speaker 2: But but everybody does it. You know, it's not It's
- 27:25Speaker 2: not Disney by itself. I mean there is no uh,
- 27:28Speaker 2: there literally is no park that doesn't that refers to
- 27:32Speaker 2: their employees as employees.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Well, corporate here calls us all useless trash.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're more honest here. Yeah. No, what they do.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Even our union calls us artists, which is like beyond
- 27:45Speaker 2: comprehension with you. Yeah, and we are and uh, you've
- 27:49Speaker 2: heard this before. We are talent. That is the word
- 27:53Speaker 2: that is used to describe us.
- 27:55Speaker 3: On the air.
- 27:56Speaker 2: We are talent, not talented.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I can't get that up out of my mouth about myself.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I couldn't tell someone, Hey, I'm the talent.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Disney started calling them cast members in the sixties.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, this was Walt.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Disney instituted the change to reinforce the idea that theme
- 28:12Speaker 4: park was an immersive theatrical production.
- 28:14Speaker 2: All right, So it was all right. So it happened
- 28:16Speaker 2: before that. It happened before Eisner. I thought it was Eisner.
- 28:19Speaker 4: They did it, it was the man himself.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I always thought that it was Walt, the.
- 28:23Speaker 2: One mustache person in the entire organization. Are they allowed
- 28:29Speaker 2: to have mustaches?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Now they have their beards? I think down too.
- 28:33Speaker 2: The women and the other thing that was that total laughing.
- 28:40Speaker 2: The other thing that I find which I never understood
- 28:45Speaker 2: and today I still don't. Tattoos are so accepted that
- 28:50Speaker 2: when Amy was kind of enough to take me and
- 28:54Speaker 2: my daughter did disney Land and it was fabulous, it
- 28:57Speaker 2: was just fabulous, we had run into a few of
- 29:01Speaker 2: the employees. I'm talking about the guides, uh, these gals
- 29:06Speaker 2: and the plaid.
- 29:07Speaker 3: The cast members, I call them the plaid.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Yeah, their plates, tattoos on their arms straight out and
- 29:15Speaker 2: not covered, not covered.
- 29:16Speaker 1: You know what.
- 29:17Speaker 4: They used to have to wear sleeves to cover.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Them, to cover them. Amy has a Disney tattoo on
- 29:22Speaker 3: her back. It says, you have to be this toll
- 29:24Speaker 3: to ride this ride.
- 29:26Speaker 2: That's actually fun though, you know what, that's actually pretty good. Okay,
- 29:30Speaker 2: we're going to leave it at that point. Okay, oh really,
- 29:33Speaker 2: that's where we're going to leave it. No, No, let's
- 29:35Speaker 2: talk about No, let's let's talk about one of my
- 29:38Speaker 2: favorite stories. What happened?
- 29:41Speaker 3: You want to do another? Okay, Idaho madam?
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:44Speaker 3: By a rattler. Yea barely survives fifty four anti venom
- 29:48Speaker 3: doses and they were going through them.
- 29:51Speaker 2: He made it, he made it.
- 29:53Speaker 3: He got bit bless him.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Problem is he got bit right on his vein and
- 29:56Speaker 2: went right into his system. Oh that is not good.
- 29:59Speaker 2: You die very quick with that. But he didn't. He survived,
- 30:03Speaker 2: which is good and very luxury.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Like cleaning the place out. I don't think they had
- 30:07Speaker 3: any more Antae Benham left.
- 30:10Speaker 2: So the next person that came in, Yeah, it was
- 30:12Speaker 2: bit I just got back too bad.
- 30:15Speaker 3: It looks it looks severe.
- 30:18Speaker 2: All right, we're gonna come back Israel, Israel and the
- 30:22Speaker 2: plot to kill the president, and we'll return KF I
- 30:27Speaker 2: am six point forty you've been listening to the Bill
- 30:31Speaker 2: Handle Show.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Catch My Show Monday through Friday, six am to nine am,
- 30:35Speaker 1: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app
