- 0:48Speaker 2: the Raisin Kine Studio, and we'll go now to our
- 0:50Speaker 2: guy Nick Underhill, New Orleans dot Football, who joins us
- 0:54Speaker 2: every single Tuesday at nine am.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Nicholas, how are we doing this week, sir?
- 0:59Speaker 5: Light Doing good? Good? How you guys doing?
- 1:01Speaker 6: Uh you know, yeah, pretty good compared to yesterday.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of uh you know, a lot of
- 1:09Speaker 2: losses for the OTV squad this weekend.
- 1:13Speaker 3: But it's okay. Where a day passed what we were yesterday.
- 1:16Speaker 2: We're moving forward now, but we will reflect on the
- 1:20Speaker 2: performance that happened there in Buffalo, which I understand it
- 1:24Speaker 2: no moral victories in the National Football League, but there
- 1:28Speaker 2: were some positive things I think from the New Orleans
- 1:30Speaker 2: Saints after how it looked in Seattle. I'm sorry, no, no,
- 1:39Speaker 2: I'm just saying like there's no moral victories in the NFL.
- 1:41Speaker 2: But after what happened in Seattle, I think there was
- 1:43Speaker 2: a lot of things in Buffalo that you can actually say,
- 1:46Speaker 2: we're a positive for the Saints.
- 1:48Speaker 5: Oh yeah, there are three and one moral victories this year.
- 1:53Speaker 6: Let's go.
- 1:55Speaker 5: I mean, look, it's about the process. I think you
- 1:58Speaker 5: need just to enter it with the you know, the
- 2:00Speaker 5: mindset and you're realistic about it. And I understand that
- 2:02Speaker 5: there's a lot of people out there that are that
- 2:04Speaker 5: are living and dying and want to see the win
- 2:06Speaker 5: every single week. And I mean, of course that that
- 2:09Speaker 5: that's the goal. But I think if you're looking at
- 2:11Speaker 5: it realistically, they probably were always going to start going four.
- 2:15Speaker 5: And I mean there's the threat of like, if you
- 2:18Speaker 5: don't beat the Giants this week, when when do you
- 2:20Speaker 5: get that win? And I mean if you're if you're
- 2:23Speaker 5: hanging on that, I mean, it's a it's a dark existence.
- 2:27Speaker 5: But if you're looking at it and you see it
- 2:30Speaker 5: for what it is and you're kind of expecting him
- 2:32Speaker 5: to lose every game, you're you're looking at Jonas Banker
- 2:35Speaker 5: and going okay, well, like there is one building block
- 2:37Speaker 5: established that's a win. The coach had a horrible time
- 2:41Speaker 5: of just getting his team lined up and getting a
- 2:44Speaker 5: snapoff in Seattle. One week later, he goes to another loud, hostile,
- 2:49Speaker 5: crazy environment and they're cleaned and they have a better
- 2:53Speaker 5: system for it, and they lose the guard who's sigling
- 2:57Speaker 5: the snap count, but a udf Rooky in and like
- 3:00Speaker 5: it remains clean. So like seeing those things makes me
- 3:04Speaker 5: believe in the process a little bit more. They played
- 3:07Speaker 5: them top oh them four is a terrible thing, you know,
- 3:12Speaker 5: And and Aaron Glunns in the same situation, and you
- 3:15Speaker 5: got Mike Greenberg coming for his neck, you know. So
- 3:18Speaker 5: like it's there, There is a standard in there. There
- 3:22Speaker 5: has to be like wins it at some point. But
- 3:25Speaker 5: like I'm just realistic about it, and I just don't
- 3:27Speaker 5: see a very good team. And I think they cleaned
- 3:30Speaker 5: up and played well, and I think you can hang
- 3:32Speaker 5: your hat on that for now. Like I do think
- 3:35Speaker 5: you know, you got the Giants, you got the Patriots,
- 3:37Speaker 5: you got the Bears. Like if you're all three through
- 3:40Speaker 5: that stretch, I think we're probably having a slightly different
- 3:43Speaker 5: conversation at the end of it, because at some point
- 3:45Speaker 5: you got to win a game, and that goes to
- 3:48Speaker 5: the quarterback especially. But I think right now, yeah, I
- 3:51Speaker 5: feel halfway decent about the team coming out of there.
- 3:54Speaker 5: I think their defense needs a lot of work. I
- 3:58Speaker 5: don't know that I see all the bright spots on
- 4:00Speaker 5: the line that I that I'd like to see. I'd
- 4:02Speaker 5: like to see that be a little bit tighter. But
- 4:04Speaker 5: you know, by and large, I think a lot of
- 4:06Speaker 5: things went okay for them in that game. Got some
- 4:08Speaker 5: run game going. So yeah, I mean there's definitely some
- 4:11Speaker 5: bright spots.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Yeah, well, let's keep it on the Buffalo game just
- 4:14Speaker 7: for just for a little bit longer. So the two
- 4:16Speaker 7: bright spots for me watching the game was, you're playing
- 4:20Speaker 7: Josh Allen. You can't hope to stop him, you can
- 4:23Speaker 7: only hope to contain him.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Type situation.
- 4:25Speaker 7: But they contained him for a decent He made his
- 4:28Speaker 7: plays throughout the game, but they made his life kind
- 4:30Speaker 7: of hell. They got after him a little bit, got
- 4:32Speaker 7: a couple of sacks. They made it difficult on him.
- 4:36Speaker 7: But then on the other side of the ball, the
- 4:37Speaker 7: running game looked great for most of the game. I
- 4:40Speaker 7: saw I wanted to see, like you've you've spent more
- 4:42Speaker 7: time kind of going back and watching watching the replay
- 4:45Speaker 7: of the game and everything, like, what was the key
- 4:47Speaker 7: contributors to the run game.
- 4:49Speaker 6: I'm curious.
- 4:49Speaker 7: Was it just because they were sitting there with a
- 4:52Speaker 7: light box daring them to throw it and saying beat
- 4:56Speaker 7: us with the run. Was it a been don't break
- 4:57Speaker 7: defense that they were playing again, or what contributed to
- 4:59Speaker 7: the success on the ground.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Yeah, so, I mean it's a little bit of both. Like,
- 5:05Speaker 5: definitely that they got some light boxes, and I think
- 5:06Speaker 5: they did a couple of things to like really really
- 5:08Speaker 5: take advantage of that. They got a seventeen yard run
- 5:11Speaker 5: in a twelve yard run on the same look where
- 5:13Speaker 5: they put Alvin and they spread out, got Buffalo all
- 5:16Speaker 5: spread out, but Alvin in the slot kind of motioned
- 5:19Speaker 5: him into the backfield. They're handing the ball off, he's
- 5:22Speaker 5: taken up to the left side out of it, you know,
- 5:24Speaker 5: right through and there was just a golf of space
- 5:26Speaker 5: on the other side. Both times I've ran that, I
- 5:28Speaker 5: think it was first quarter and then early in the
- 5:30Speaker 5: third quarter was the twelve yard run. So like there
- 5:34Speaker 5: was a couple things like that. But the thing that
- 5:36Speaker 5: was the biggest difference in it is is they use
- 5:38Speaker 5: more outside zone in this game, they've been running a
- 5:41Speaker 5: lot of inside zone. They had ten plays outside zone
- 5:43Speaker 5: in this one. I think it was like four was
- 5:46Speaker 5: the highest in the first three games, and they got
- 5:48Speaker 5: a lot of yardage out of that. And then the
- 5:49Speaker 5: other thing is they went under center and they just
- 5:52Speaker 5: started handing the ball off, you know, that drive that
- 5:54Speaker 5: led into the Philly special play, like just went all
- 5:57Speaker 5: the way down the field, and we haven't seen them
- 6:00Speaker 5: do that really either. I think that was more about
- 6:02Speaker 5: just being able to like hear the cadence and everything better.
- 6:05Speaker 5: It's a line of scrimmage, but it was effective running
- 6:08Speaker 5: the ball, So I think both those things helped, you know.
- 6:11Speaker 5: And then when they're they're under center, they're they're running
- 6:13Speaker 5: a little bit more inside zone from that look, and I think,
- 6:17Speaker 5: you know, that just helped them get a little bit
- 6:18Speaker 5: more yards before contact. Coming into the game, they were
- 6:21Speaker 5: like zero point two yards before contact on inside zone,
- 6:24Speaker 5: and I mean, if you're running that from pistol, like,
- 6:26Speaker 5: it's like seven yards before you're you're at the line
- 6:28Speaker 5: of scrimmage. So I think it just kind of maybe
- 6:30Speaker 5: allows some of those those creases to pop open a
- 6:33Speaker 5: little bit more. I'm gonna be interested to see if
- 6:36Speaker 5: they mix that in because it was like strictly a
- 6:39Speaker 5: shotgun offense. I don't know, maybe out old school, but
- 6:42Speaker 5: like I feel like play action from understanders like kind
- 6:45Speaker 5: of just works a little bit better than back in
- 6:47Speaker 5: that shotgun. Look, maybe that helps open up some deep plays.
- 6:50Speaker 5: You create a tendency like, hey, you're gonna run from
- 6:52Speaker 5: this like every single time. Maybe you start out doing
- 6:55Speaker 5: it and then you break that tendency and pop a
- 6:57Speaker 5: big play or something like maybe maybe it opens up
- 6:59Speaker 5: a couple of wrinkles. But I think they just kind
- 7:01Speaker 5: of got a couple of different things going, you know.
- 7:03Speaker 5: And I thought we saw the differences in the Run
- 7:06Speaker 5: game for sure. And then you know, just Kendrick Miller
- 7:09Speaker 5: like that was an extremely important game for him, I
- 7:11Speaker 5: think too, just to kind of show everyone, but more
- 7:14Speaker 5: so show himself that like, hey, look I can be
- 7:17Speaker 5: I can be you know Option one B in this
- 7:19Speaker 5: Run game every single week.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and also show Dennis Allen for if he was
- 7:23Speaker 2: watching somewhere.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Let me ask you about that pass at a lave through.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Gosh, it just felt like such a big moment in
- 7:30Speaker 2: the game and you're trying to do something to give
- 7:33Speaker 2: you a spark there. It's like, you don't mind plays
- 7:37Speaker 2: like that, but if the play's not there, you got
- 7:39Speaker 2: to just you know, live to play another down. And
- 7:42Speaker 2: just that play felt like it took a lot of
- 7:46Speaker 2: emotion away from what the Saints had kind of built
- 7:49Speaker 2: up there.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I'm at the same place, like I
- 7:53Speaker 5: don't like the play. I don't think I would have
- 7:55Speaker 5: ran it. It felt like they were moving the ball well,
- 7:57Speaker 5: but at the same time, I understand the process, so
- 8:01Speaker 5: like I can't sit here and like call it a
- 8:03Speaker 5: dumb player or anything like that. You know, I think
- 8:05Speaker 5: it was actually probably I took its like maybe honesty
- 8:09Speaker 5: from the coaching staff about what they think about their
- 8:13Speaker 5: red zone offenses. They thought, like, you know, running this
- 8:15Speaker 5: trick play is their best shot at getting in the
- 8:17Speaker 5: end zone because look, you look at the data, like
- 8:20Speaker 5: they just haven't been getting that area of the field,
- 8:22Speaker 5: and like they had done running the ball, but the
- 8:25Speaker 5: last two runs went for three yards. You're at third
- 8:27Speaker 5: and five. I didn't like the second yard pass either,
- 8:30Speaker 5: maybe though like I probably would have ran, I would
- 8:32Speaker 5: have kept running probably on second down and then maybe
- 8:34Speaker 5: you're at like third and two that's probably how I
- 8:36Speaker 5: would have approached you.
- 8:37Speaker 6: But easy to.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Stay in hindsight, man like cold Bishop, like you look
- 8:42Speaker 5: at that play like he's taken it, you know, and
- 8:46Speaker 5: then he and then he tosses back to a lave
- 8:48Speaker 5: on the on the reverse for the throat, like before
- 8:51Speaker 5: he even pitched the ball to the lave, he's breaking
- 8:53Speaker 5: from the other hash. It was like it was doom man,
- 8:57Speaker 5: Like he was just he's seen that thing just from go. Yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 5: it was an amazing play. You know. I didn't love it,
- 9:05Speaker 5: but I understand it. And look, you know, there's been
- 9:07Speaker 5: like kind of three critical moments now the the end
- 9:10Speaker 5: a half, first first week. What was the other one
- 9:16Speaker 5: it took the ball at a out of a Rattlers dance, man,
- 9:21Speaker 5: I can't remember. It was another August of the situation.
- 9:23Speaker 5: But there's been three now where there's been three things
- 9:25Speaker 5: where you kind of look at it and you're like,
- 9:26Speaker 5: man like, how come come they don't they like trusting
- 9:30Speaker 5: them to do this stuff. But I think it's just
- 9:31Speaker 5: kind of telling about, you know, what they think and
- 9:34Speaker 5: what they need to do to score points. But yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 5: it's been tough on there, and I think, you know,
- 9:39Speaker 5: I think there's a couple of little things that Ratler
- 9:41Speaker 5: definitely needs to tighten up over the next three weeks.
- 9:43Speaker 5: But yeah, that was a little bit telling.
- 9:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I can't sit here and say that was a
- 9:47Speaker 7: bad play call because that was probably the most underrated
- 9:51Speaker 7: best defensive play of the weekend in college or pros.
- 9:55Speaker 7: It was incredible, Like the the safety on the front
- 9:58Speaker 7: side reads the play and makes a complete sprint of
- 10:02Speaker 7: a play to the backside is able to get the
- 10:04Speaker 7: ball like, that was an incredible play. So it's hard
- 10:07Speaker 7: for me to sit there and say, like, man, that
- 10:08Speaker 7: was a that was a bad play call, because if
- 10:11Speaker 7: he if he reacts like a split second slower, I'm
- 10:14Speaker 7: making it like it's a touchdown, right, So but you're right,
- 10:17Speaker 7: like it's you want to see them not have to
- 10:19Speaker 7: do those types of plays in that type of situation
- 10:23Speaker 7: to be able to put points onward. So it is
- 10:24Speaker 7: it is a little telling. But you know, Kellimore, he's
- 10:27Speaker 7: an offensive he's a creative guy. It is surprising to
- 10:30Speaker 7: me that that you brought it up, and I hadn't
- 10:32Speaker 7: really thought about it as the so much shotgun because
- 10:35Speaker 7: it's certainly not who they were in Philly and we
- 10:39Speaker 7: kind of talked about it on here. We're we're on
- 10:41Speaker 7: the same page with you too, Like you play actions
- 10:43Speaker 7: a lot better when you have the threat of a
- 10:45Speaker 7: little bit more of run under the center. Play action
- 10:47Speaker 7: is a lot better when a quarterback turns his back
- 10:50Speaker 7: to the defense, and that happens for the most part
- 10:53Speaker 7: under center.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Now you can get to it.
- 10:54Speaker 7: And pistol a little bit, but your back's not turned
- 10:56Speaker 7: for quite as long. I don't know, And it's so
- 10:59Speaker 7: far by hind a line of scrimmage just not the
- 11:01Speaker 7: same effect.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Has that been progressively?
- 11:04Speaker 7: I don't like it never stuck out to me watching
- 11:06Speaker 7: the game this past week, and but now, as you
- 11:08Speaker 7: say it, looking back, has that been progressively more and
- 11:10Speaker 7: more shotgun each week?
- 11:13Speaker 5: It's done like exclusively shotgun every week until this week
- 11:17Speaker 5: they kind of they kind of a hit that drive
- 11:19Speaker 5: with it. And yeah, I think that was a problem
- 11:22Speaker 5: in Seattle too, like they couldn't hear nothing, and like,
- 11:25Speaker 5: you know, I think I messed up some of the
- 11:26Speaker 5: timing and everything, and they tried to switch it up
- 11:29Speaker 5: this week and then it worked well. But yeah, it's
- 11:32Speaker 5: kind of like it's kind of collegi ish man, like
- 11:35Speaker 5: you know, it's just like kind of standing back there,
- 11:38Speaker 5: like the whole entire game never understand it. Like play
- 11:40Speaker 5: action hasn't been really working at all for them, And yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 5: I don't know, Like again, I might I might have
- 11:47Speaker 5: like overdosed on the the Shanan era of the NFL,
- 11:50Speaker 5: but like play action married to like outside zone action
- 11:53Speaker 5: just feels like you get those linebackers moving out of
- 11:56Speaker 5: the way and then you're creating space and you know
- 11:58Speaker 5: you can you can just open a lot of stuff up,
- 12:00Speaker 5: and it's like their play action just really hasn't been
- 12:03Speaker 5: like doing anything. So I'm just kind of curious to
- 12:06Speaker 5: see if it if it kind of progresses a little
- 12:08Speaker 5: bit that your action, but that that's well, I would.
- 12:11Speaker 7: Say like that, I would say probably the top five
- 12:12Speaker 7: offenses in the NFL, which would be which would mean
- 12:15Speaker 7: the entire world are pretty balanced between shotgun and underneath
- 12:19Speaker 7: the center. You look at the Lions and the Packers,
- 12:21Speaker 7: you look at even the bills are going under the center,
- 12:23Speaker 7: And I feel like Spencer looks pretty good under the center.
- 12:26Speaker 6: He looks pretty comfortable.
- 12:27Speaker 7: For a guy it's probably probably been pretty exclusive shotgun
- 12:30Speaker 7: in his college career. It looks pretty comfortable under them.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, man, Like I don't. I don't necessarily
- 12:37Speaker 5: love the approach it again, yeah, I want to see
- 12:39Speaker 5: if it evolves a little bit, because you know, you
- 12:41Speaker 5: get a little bit of success there. Kellen doesn't expand
- 12:45Speaker 5: a lot on things at the podium, Like he's been
- 12:47Speaker 5: asked about the shotgun stuff, you know, a few times,
- 12:50Speaker 5: and he just said he likes the timing and space
- 12:53Speaker 5: of it. But yeah, I think it. I think it
- 12:55Speaker 5: definitely needs to find a way to be a little
- 12:57Speaker 5: bit more balanced. And you know, I think again, I
- 13:00Speaker 5: think it would just open up a couple of them shots.
- 13:02Speaker 5: And that's that's the big thing missing from the offense,
- 13:06Speaker 5: you know, and the whole league's kind of go in
- 13:07Speaker 5: that direction. You look and it's who are the passing leaders.
- 13:11Speaker 5: It's like Carson wentz to three hundred and fifty yards and
- 13:13Speaker 5: then everybody else has won seventy five two hundred. Like
- 13:16Speaker 5: it's just kind of getting, you know, oppressed a little bit.
- 13:18Speaker 5: And even even Josh Allen like didn't have a ton
- 13:21Speaker 5: of passing yards this week, and I think he's averaging
- 13:23Speaker 5: two forty a game, and you know, that's kind of
- 13:25Speaker 5: the standard which is way different than like seven years ago.
- 13:28Speaker 5: But you got to be able to a couple of
- 13:30Speaker 5: those shots down the field. And now, you know, I think,
- 13:33Speaker 5: I think for this team, with the talent they have,
- 13:35Speaker 5: the quarterback they have, like it's got to be manufactured
- 13:38Speaker 5: a bit. And yeah, I mean understanding play action. I
- 13:41Speaker 5: don't know, Like again, I might be an idiot, but like,
- 13:43Speaker 5: it just feels like that's the way to open maybe
- 13:46Speaker 5: some of that stuff up when you're a little bit
- 13:48Speaker 5: deficient in a couple of spots.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Uh. Yeah, I just looked it up.
- 13:52Speaker 2: A shotgun percentage for the New Orleans Saints seventy one
- 13:56Speaker 2: point six percent of the time, pistol seven percent of
- 13:59Speaker 2: the time, under center nineteen point two percent of the time,
- 14:03Speaker 2: And so yeah, that math.
- 14:04Speaker 7: Maybe it has something to do with it being like
- 14:06Speaker 7: first and second and forever for a lot of them,
- 14:09Speaker 7: for a lot of the season.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Maybe maybe certainly, Hey, let me ask you about two
- 14:13Speaker 2: guys though that potentially could come back in the next
- 14:16Speaker 2: couple of weeks. We talked about it earlier, Foster Morrow
- 14:18Speaker 2: and Taysom Hill opening that twenty one day window where
- 14:21Speaker 2: they can come out there in practice. What's the latest
- 14:23Speaker 2: on them and what do you think that those two
- 14:26Speaker 2: players can help this offense achieve when they do get back.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think I was supposed to see it.
- 14:33Speaker 5: But when I was going out there yesterday, like you know,
- 14:36Speaker 5: they were working out on a sidefield, and like Jayson
- 14:38Speaker 5: was like like running routes like it it looks like
- 14:41Speaker 5: at full speed. So I think he's extremely close. You know,
- 14:45Speaker 5: I think Foster's been ready to go. I mean, big
- 14:49Speaker 5: talent is added to the team, I mean tight end.
- 14:54Speaker 5: You know, I don't feel like they've gotten a ton
- 14:56Speaker 5: out of it. I'm going to be fascinated really to
- 14:58Speaker 5: see what they what they do with Taysom because like
- 15:00Speaker 5: I think, obviously you have to get him involved. He's
- 15:03Speaker 5: one of your best playmakers on offense. But I wonder
- 15:08Speaker 5: how deep into it they go. I wonder if they
- 15:10Speaker 5: used him more and like traditional positions, or are you
- 15:12Speaker 5: trying to like build a whole Taysum package and be
- 15:15Speaker 5: extremely unique and all that stuff around him, you know,
- 15:17Speaker 5: with the guy that's not going to be here for
- 15:20Speaker 5: probably you know, I would guess this is probably very
- 15:23Speaker 5: very close to the end of the road. So like
- 15:25Speaker 5: I'm just gonna be curious to see if like more
- 15:27Speaker 5: tries to build like an identity that he can keep
- 15:29Speaker 5: building upon, or like you go in centralized Taysom is
- 15:34Speaker 5: a central piece of your offense kind of the way
- 15:36Speaker 5: koobi Ac did last year, and then you know you're
- 15:38Speaker 5: you're screwed them when he gets hurt again and you
- 15:41Speaker 5: have trouble bringing it back. So I don't I don't
- 15:43Speaker 5: know how to put him into it, but like, I
- 15:45Speaker 5: think he obviously has to be a part of it,
- 15:47Speaker 5: and I think he's going to be. You know, I
- 15:49Speaker 5: think he's one of the few guys on that offense
- 15:50Speaker 5: that I think can be a reason, you know, you're
- 15:53Speaker 5: winning games. So I'm curious to see it. But I
- 15:56Speaker 5: you know, I also a foster. I think huge upgrade.
- 15:59Speaker 5: You know, I obviously one of the better blocking tight
- 16:01Speaker 5: hands on the team. He can you know, you trust
- 16:04Speaker 5: them to make some some you know, critical catches down
- 16:06Speaker 5: the stretch. Last year, I think his past catching ability
- 16:10Speaker 5: was really underrated. Like you know, they had all the
- 16:12Speaker 5: injuries and they kind of had to turn to him,
- 16:14Speaker 5: and you know, I felt like he stepped up big
- 16:16Speaker 5: down the stretch. So, you know, and I think Ratler
- 16:18Speaker 5: has a lot of chemistry with him, so that that
- 16:20Speaker 5: would be possibly a very very good addition for the team.
- 16:24Speaker 7: Yeah, Nick, we asked you about I think last week
- 16:27Speaker 7: we asked you about who's the vocal leader on offense
- 16:30Speaker 7: And to me, like even just from a psychological effect
- 16:34Speaker 7: of getting Taysom Hill back, getting Foster a Row back,
- 16:37Speaker 7: to me, those are guys that can immediately step in
- 16:39Speaker 7: and take over that role of being the vocal guy.
- 16:42Speaker 7: It's hard to do it when you're sidelined with an injury,
- 16:44Speaker 7: but like they get to step in a huddle, I
- 16:46Speaker 7: feel like bring a little bit of a little bit
- 16:49Speaker 7: of weight behind their voice, weight behind them if they
- 16:51Speaker 7: are going to get off onto the offensive line or
- 16:53Speaker 7: whoever it is, but they bring a little bit that
- 16:56Speaker 7: extra like that, it factored to that that psychologically can
- 17:00Speaker 7: help everybody, especially a young quarterback, especially a unit that
- 17:03Speaker 7: has been struggling a little bit.
- 17:05Speaker 6: I think it's going to be a good kind of
- 17:06Speaker 6: like a psychological effect.
- 17:07Speaker 7: And to that point, your answer last week on the
- 17:10Speaker 7: vocal leaders of the offense, Caesar rus gets hurt, he's
- 17:14Speaker 7: out for what three to five weeks something like that,
- 17:16Speaker 7: and you got a guy, uh is it my saying
- 17:18Speaker 7: this name right?
- 17:19Speaker 6: Towards Selly Simpkins.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, and I guess Foster was out of site,
- 17:25Speaker 5: out of mind when we were talking about that. But
- 17:27Speaker 5: I mean he's he's maybe the biggest standard bearer that,
- 17:32Speaker 5: you know what, Like the way he is a practice,
- 17:35Speaker 5: the way he gets on guys, the way he leaves
- 17:37Speaker 5: like it. You know, it stands out among like anybody
- 17:41Speaker 5: I've ever seen on a field. And you know, I
- 17:43Speaker 5: was around the twenty tenth Patriots and you know these
- 17:46Speaker 5: Saints with your reason, you know, all them guys like
- 17:49Speaker 5: like Foster is like like head cracking leadership, like holding
- 17:53Speaker 5: people to a standard I think is on par with
- 17:55Speaker 5: like anybody I've seen. So yeah, it's just that that
- 17:58Speaker 5: aspect of getting him on the field around the young team,
- 18:02Speaker 5: you know that they got the penalty spinning up like
- 18:05Speaker 5: stuff like that, Like he's somebody that you just just
- 18:08Speaker 5: heared like tearing into people for you know, messing up
- 18:11Speaker 5: the details. And I think that helps, especially when you
- 18:14Speaker 5: have this type of you know, coach that that's you know,
- 18:16Speaker 5: kind of more laid back personality, having a player that
- 18:19Speaker 5: can kind of be your your bulldog and you don't
- 18:21Speaker 5: got to ask them to show up as the bulldog.
- 18:23Speaker 5: I think it is quietly a big deal. All right.
- 18:27Speaker 2: There is our guy, Nick Underhill, New Orleans, dotch Football

- 21:39Speaker 6: Go see their website right now. Russell Pools dot.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Com blocked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven.
- 21:56Speaker 1: You're listening to off the bench.
- 22:01Speaker 6: The team has gone a lot and your mound by
- 22:16Speaker 6: all right, welcome back. Did you say hi? No, I
- 22:18Speaker 6: said I. I said, like a Nick Saban I off
- 22:23Speaker 6: the bench.
- 22:25Speaker 7: I uh so, Jake, I want to ask you about something.
- 22:28Speaker 7: It's a stat that I started looking up yesterday in
- 22:32Speaker 7: the NFL, and you were a special team's war daddy
- 22:35Speaker 7: for a long time, like special teams thus far in
- 22:40Speaker 7: the NFL through four weeks. Four weeks, oh yeah, through
- 22:43Speaker 7: week four in the NFL has made like the biggest impact.
- 22:46Speaker 7: I remember special teams doing it, like a stretch of
- 22:49Speaker 7: four game stretch that I remember in a long time.
- 22:53Speaker 7: And I started looking at you know, of course we've
- 22:55Speaker 7: had like the Saints had a big return against them.
- 22:57Speaker 7: There's been returns in different situations. I know, like the
- 22:59Speaker 7: kick off rules have really improved the game on the kickoff.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Cowboys, I mean benefited greatly against the Packers. Huge
- 23:06Speaker 3: so great returns.
- 23:07Speaker 7: But one big thing that is sticking out to me
- 23:09Speaker 7: in the special teams world is field goal blocks.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Okay, I started looking up the stats.
- 23:15Speaker 7: It popped up Sunday night when the Packers got an
- 23:18Speaker 7: extra point blocked and they returned to the is a
- 23:23Speaker 7: three point difference right there. That's a three point swing.
- 23:26Speaker 7: So I looked up and said, in twenty twenty four
- 23:28Speaker 7: a total of eighteen all season, eighteen blocked field goals
- 23:32Speaker 7: or pats. In twenty twenty four through four weeks in
- 23:36Speaker 7: the NFL, thirteen blockeden field goals or pats.
- 23:43Speaker 6: So my question is is is this just a fluke?
- 23:47Speaker 7: Is this just a random like we're just going through
- 23:49Speaker 7: a slew of blocks here, or is this an emergence
- 23:52Speaker 7: of different blocking schemes, different blocking technique?
- 23:57Speaker 6: Taller people, like, what are we doing?
- 23:59Speaker 7: Or are these big leg kickers that are making sixty
- 24:05Speaker 7: sixty plus yards? Are they just like inherently in their
- 24:08Speaker 7: mind they're having a hard time controlling the trajectory because
- 24:10Speaker 7: of course the longer the field goal, the lower the ejectory.
- 24:13Speaker 3: We've had to put that thing down.
- 24:16Speaker 7: What I mean, is this just a fluke, like from
- 24:18Speaker 7: a war Daddy standpoint, like, that's a shocking number to me.
- 24:21Speaker 7: Thirteen blocked field goals or extra points in the first
- 24:24Speaker 7: four weeks.
- 24:24Speaker 2: And some of them have not been of long distances either. No,
- 24:28Speaker 2: they have on extra point, well extra point for sure,
- 24:30Speaker 2: like the extra point. Now the extra point is backed up.
- 24:32Speaker 2: So I do think there's a more point of emphasis
- 24:33Speaker 2: for these special teams coaches to try to go after
- 24:36Speaker 2: it a little bit because before it was automatic. Hell,
- 24:38Speaker 2: you could even block it sometimes, and it was such
- 24:41Speaker 2: a short distance it would still go in right, even
- 24:43Speaker 2: if you've got a hand on it.
- 24:44Speaker 3: So I think that probably plays into it.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And I think that these special teams coaches see an opportunity,
- 24:50Speaker 2: and they see an opportunity.
- 24:51Speaker 3: To try to stop points get points.
- 24:53Speaker 2: And you see like you'll see some unique guys in
- 24:56Speaker 2: there on field goal block now too, in some different positions.
- 25:00Speaker 3: You see it kind of all levels of football.
- 25:01Speaker 2: But I think special teams has certainly been more of
- 25:05Speaker 2: a point of emphasis over the last couple of years
- 25:07Speaker 2: with all the new rule changes.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Because like we saw who did it cost Tata? You
- 25:12Speaker 3: probably know this. You watch the NFL, like every single game.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Which team was the Cardinals that didn't kick it inside
- 25:19Speaker 2: the landing zone? And so yeah it is Cardinals Vikings,
- 25:22Speaker 2: right are Seahawks?
- 25:23Speaker 3: Cardinals?
- 25:23Speaker 2: Seahawks saw Sam Darnold with thought Vikings they didn't kick
- 25:27Speaker 2: it inside the landing zone and so they started the
- 25:30Speaker 2: possession on the forty They one completion field goal game over.
- 25:34Speaker 2: So like, I think I think there's a lot of Hey,
- 25:37Speaker 2: we've always air quotes, taken it seriously because some teams
- 25:40Speaker 2: I was on did not That's why we were first
- 25:43Speaker 2: in offense first, and defense thirty second and special teams
- 25:46Speaker 2: that didn't make a playoffs. But I think now you
- 25:49Speaker 2: realize that you can win a game by doing one
- 25:53Speaker 2: little thing on special.
- 25:54Speaker 7: Well, look, you can go back two weeks ago the
- 25:57Speaker 7: Eagles first, the Rams right MS one, Like, they beat
- 26:02Speaker 7: the Eagles for four quarters. They had two blocked field
- 26:05Speaker 7: goals in that game. Two blocked field goals, one for
- 26:08Speaker 7: a touchdown at the end, and they lose by the spread. Yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 7: they lose by seven points. The Rams should have won
- 26:14Speaker 7: that game. And the Eagles, I mean, they're they're so good,
- 26:17Speaker 7: they're so talented, but two blocked field goals in a
- 26:19Speaker 7: game that.
- 26:20Speaker 6: Is unheard of?
- 26:22Speaker 3: Are you like the Eagles out?
- 26:24Speaker 2: Like when you look at the Eagles personnel though, they
- 26:26Speaker 2: really do have like the perfect people and have giants
- 26:29Speaker 2: that are athletic, they can be right there in the middle.
- 26:31Speaker 2: But also remember that Rams kick was low low kid.
- 26:34Speaker 2: But one of these kickers too, at least one of
- 26:36Speaker 2: them wasn't long. No, it was thirty seven yards. So
- 26:39Speaker 2: I think these these kickers, to your point, you might
- 26:41Speaker 2: have actually found something here. I think because now they're
- 26:44Speaker 2: bombing everything and like a fifty eight yard field goal
- 26:47Speaker 2: is almost automatic now, which is just ludicrous, that maybe they.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Have changed kind of the way they drive the football.
- 26:53Speaker 5: It is.
- 26:53Speaker 7: It's incredible, Like you go, there was was it Sunday
- 26:57Speaker 7: night the Packers kicker, I think at the end of
- 26:59Speaker 7: the aff or something.
- 27:00Speaker 6: I can't remember when it was. No, it was the
- 27:01Speaker 6: end of the game. He kicked them.
- 27:03Speaker 7: It was like a forty seven yard whatever, forty seven
- 27:05Speaker 7: forty eight, which is like a chip shot these days.
- 27:08Speaker 7: I feel like it went over the uprights like it
- 27:10Speaker 7: was like it was. It would have been good for
- 27:13Speaker 7: eighty I had. Like these guys are just like strolling
- 27:15Speaker 7: up to the ball and kicking.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I mean, we just had the Bucks kicker just he
- 27:20Speaker 2: set the outdoor record for longest field goal in NFL history, right.
- 27:25Speaker 8: Yeah, Chase the McLaughlin sixty five. But they were looking
- 27:29Speaker 8: at replacing him two weeks ago because he missed like
- 27:31Speaker 8: two forty yarders. Yeah, then he's out here hitting a
- 27:34Speaker 8: sixty five the next week.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I mean, it's a real weapon. Looked at the Chargers
- 27:37Speaker 3: kicker Caim Dicker.
- 27:39Speaker 2: He is the most accurate kicker in NFL history, and like,
- 27:42Speaker 2: that is a real weapon that you have that these
- 27:45Speaker 2: guys are making. Like you feel like Matt, if you
- 27:47Speaker 2: get over a midfield at this point, you might have points.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I just get over the line.
- 27:52Speaker 7: So I guess it's like a giver or take situation
- 27:54Speaker 7: because forever kickers, I made a fifty yard field goal
- 27:56Speaker 7: was a long field goal. Uh. But special teams coordinators
- 28:01Speaker 7: they evacuate everything when it comes to a kicker. I mean,
- 28:04Speaker 7: there's there's a lot of people that can kick a
- 28:05Speaker 7: football in the world. There's a lot of people that
- 28:06Speaker 7: can pun a football in the world. Deepsna a football
- 28:08Speaker 7: they look for like little things, and I think one
- 28:11Speaker 7: of the things that they always look at is the trajectory.
- 28:13Speaker 7: How high can you get the ball fast right make
- 28:16Speaker 7: it impossible to block it. I'm thinking, and I don't
- 28:20Speaker 7: know this, I'm just from what I see on the field.
- 28:23Speaker 7: Thirteen block field goals to date compared to eighteen blocked
- 28:27Speaker 7: all of last year.
- 28:28Speaker 6: Yeah, Like there's a mindset right now.
- 28:30Speaker 7: It's like we want if we get to the midfield,
- 28:32Speaker 7: we want to have the threat of getting points, and
- 28:35Speaker 7: maybe we give up a little trajectory on our cause
- 28:38Speaker 7: it's going to be hard to go from kicking a
- 28:40Speaker 7: sixty five yard field goal to kicking a thirty yard
- 28:42Speaker 7: You got to get it up.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So also special teams coaches are realizing, hey, guys, if
- 28:48Speaker 2: they get across the midline, here have like past midfield
- 28:53Speaker 2: almost is like we're going to least attempt to kick, right,
- 28:56Speaker 2: I mean most of so these special teams coordinators that
- 28:58Speaker 2: are also putting together the block, like I think they
- 29:01Speaker 2: do realize, we gotta spend some more time on this,
- 29:03Speaker 2: Like we gotta come up with something because in the NFL,
- 29:05Speaker 2: you know how it is, it's always like, Okay, here's
- 29:07Speaker 2: this thing, here's this new thing.
- 29:09Speaker 3: And then these other coaches are like, well, we got
- 29:11Speaker 3: stopped the new thing. How do we stop? How do
- 29:12Speaker 3: we slow down the new thing?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Well, the new thing in the NFL is let's go
- 29:16Speaker 2: kick fifty five to sixty five field goals.
- 29:18Speaker 7: Right, That's the thing to me, Like this field goal
- 29:21Speaker 7: has been around a long time, and all of a sudden,
- 29:24Speaker 7: like right now, coaches have figured out a way to
- 29:26Speaker 7: make people's make people taller and bigger, and like just
- 29:31Speaker 7: now figured out a scheme to block field goals more.
- 29:33Speaker 7: But it's it's starting to become commonplace, which is wild
- 29:36Speaker 7: because I remember, like if you saw a block field
- 29:38Speaker 7: goal in the game that you were a part of,
- 29:40Speaker 7: it was something special you were watching, Like that doesn't
- 29:42Speaker 7: happen unless it's just a terrible kick.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Anyway, war teams, special teams, war daddies are people too, Matt.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Sure are.
- 29:53Speaker 7: It's just playing. It's playing such a big part. And
- 29:55Speaker 7: I didn't even put in block punts in that scenario.
- 29:58Speaker 7: There's been a bunch of black punts. People are getting
- 30:00Speaker 7: really aggressive. The ball you saw who is a Buffaloes
- 30:03Speaker 7: kicker punter nearly snaps his leg. Wasn't that Buffalo?
- 30:08Speaker 1: Was that?
- 30:08Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah?
- 30:10Speaker 7: Oh speaking off Tyreek Hill last night, jee, that was
- 30:15Speaker 7: an ugly one dated a kneecap right, Uh did y'all
- 30:17Speaker 7: see it?
- 30:18Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 30:18Speaker 7: It did not look at us. It's tore multiple ligaments
- 30:21Speaker 7: including acls.
- 30:22Speaker 6: What I oh was it?
- 30:23Speaker 5: Oh?
- 30:23Speaker 6: Man, No, it looked bad. They had him in like
- 30:25Speaker 6: the bubble cast and yeah it was groose.
- 30:32Speaker 3: How's a bad game, all right?
- 30:34Speaker 2: Real quick before I give you, uh, the shotgun percentage
- 30:38Speaker 2: that you were asking for. Somebody was asking for earlier
- 30:40Speaker 2: from the LSU. I want to tell you about a
- 30:43Speaker 2: friends over it. Your Goodwood dot Com Goodwood Men's Sexual
- 30:46Speaker 2: Wellness Monday through Friday, nine am until five pm. Andrew
- 30:49Speaker 2: Silla Lane two to five four g d Wood is
- 30:52Speaker 2: the phone number. The website is your Goodwood dot com.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Bottom right corner of the website. Booked that consultation today
- 30:58Speaker 2: your good Wood dot Com. All right, anybody want to
- 31:03Speaker 2: take I guess? All right, so let's do this because
- 31:08Speaker 2: pistol is shotgun, and I don't know why they put
- 31:11Speaker 2: it in a different category. They put a pistol in
- 31:13Speaker 2: a different category. Yep, I guess because it's like technically
- 31:17Speaker 2: like shotgun number offensive plays that are not under the center.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Anybody will take a guess, LSU.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Somebody's asking us how many percentage of the place for
- 31:28Speaker 2: LSU or out of shotgun?
- 31:31Speaker 6: Okay, pistol doesn't count a shotgun?
- 31:35Speaker 2: No, I added pistol, added pistol still a gun? Eighty
- 31:42Speaker 2: Matthew out of shotgun? Yes, Las Tigers, Yes, I'm going
- 31:47Speaker 2: to say ninety eight point seven a laundra is the
- 31:50Speaker 2: closest ninety two point five percent of the time they
- 31:54Speaker 2: are in shotgun, So like what they're calling like just
- 31:57Speaker 2: actual shotgun seventy nine point fives still thirteen percent, and
- 32:01Speaker 2: then under center seven point five percent.
- 32:04Speaker 6: Seven point five percent, Okay.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Because I think like some of the gold line stuff,
- 32:08Speaker 3: and they have had a.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Couple of plays they had like two reverses I think
- 32:11Speaker 2: to a receiver out of they were underneath and kind
- 32:14Speaker 2: of like a toss to a So.
- 32:17Speaker 7: I'm guessing about seventy five average of seventy seventy five
- 32:20Speaker 7: plays a game times five games, that's three hundred and
- 32:22Speaker 7: seventy five total plays. If you take what you say
- 32:24Speaker 7: seven point five percent, that can actually give you that's
- 32:27Speaker 7: twenty eight plays under center.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I think it was twenty five when I looked, I'm
- 32:32Speaker 3: pretty sure actually was belave that.
- 32:35Speaker 2: So did we have a victory formation of victory formation
- 32:39Speaker 2: probably counts, yeah for sure as under center.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and to this point you've won every game before
- 32:46Speaker 3: last week.
- 32:46Speaker 7: So now I'll take out the pistol is a weapon.
- 32:49Speaker 7: It's not a philosophy again, it's a weapon to use.
- 32:51Speaker 2: It's it was a philosophy at a place like Nevada. Yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 2: when they had Colin Kaepernick and that's what they ran.
- 32:57Speaker 2: They were they were the first one to run pistol
- 32:59Speaker 2: and that was there, Like that's for a group of
- 33:01Speaker 2: six football is there philosophy? And now look, I love
- 33:04Speaker 2: you can do them things. I love running zone out
- 33:06Speaker 2: of pistol. I loved it because it was the same
- 33:08Speaker 2: for me. I was still gonna be toes at seven.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I was gonna be open, crossover and get the ball.
- 33:12Speaker 7: And you have to you have to a lot of
- 33:15Speaker 7: teams will put the toes for the running back toes
- 33:17Speaker 7: at eight and leave the quarterback the same. You're gonna
- 33:19Speaker 7: go pistol. You move your quarterback limitations. You know, you
- 33:22Speaker 7: got to move your quarterback up a yard to four
- 33:24Speaker 7: instead of five. Let's probably toes seven and a half.
- 33:29Speaker 6: But that is a week.
- 33:30Speaker 7: I need to cheat that halfy hour. You got a
- 33:32Speaker 7: little little cheat step, but you do. You're taking every
- 33:35Speaker 7: advantage you can. But hour you can run counter with
- 33:38Speaker 7: those jeans. You gotta get all the advantages you can,
- 33:40Speaker 7: no question about it. He's on an American Eagle. I
- 33:43Speaker 7: had to get everything I could. Uh, you can run
- 33:47Speaker 7: stretch the Jinko, they're not ready for that cover. Jibebo's
- 33:52Speaker 7: they're not ready for that either. Are not ready y'all
- 33:55Speaker 7: know anything about Jibebo jeans? Jenko's kind attley true, which
- 34:01Speaker 7: is wild to me because they're awful.
- 34:05Speaker 6: Are your jeans from one place?
- 34:06Speaker 3: And it told Navy, I don't know. I'm like a
- 34:08Speaker 3: baggy jean girly, so.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I like the bag like the can get Actually my
- 34:14Speaker 2: favorite baggy jeans.
- 34:16Speaker 6: Well maybe it was the best genes.
- 34:17Speaker 3: Guys I don't know. I had were very grungy, and
- 34:20Speaker 3: I love them.
- 34:21Speaker 6: I think we had this.
- 34:21Speaker 2: When was the last time he bought jeans? Bought them
- 34:24Speaker 2: like with my own money. Well, I got some Blue
- 34:27Speaker 2: I got some Blue Deltas. Like I was here with
- 34:30Speaker 2: Handy still Handy and Handy and I were doing the
- 34:34Speaker 2: show and the guy from Blue Delta shout Out, Nick
- 34:36Speaker 2: was in town. It's like, hey, do you want to
- 34:38Speaker 2: come measure you for some jeans. I was like, yeah,
- 34:40Speaker 2: but I'm on there. He goes, I'll do it on there.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I was like, okay, let's on air.
- 34:44Speaker 3: So we were doing it.
- 34:45Speaker 2: He was measuring me for jeans, and that's the last
- 34:47Speaker 2: pair of jeans that I got, But before then you
- 34:50Speaker 2: didn't ask you to anything.
- 34:51Speaker 6: No, not on there.
- 34:53Speaker 3: Uh uh gosh, I can't decade.
- 34:59Speaker 6: He it's not a pair of wearable jeans in a
- 35:03Speaker 6: decade probably.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Nothing nothing against them. I just had the same ones
- 35:07Speaker 3: that I wear that are.
- 35:09Speaker 6: I got something about a month ago. But I mean,
- 35:10Speaker 6: y'all know I wear like jean. Yeah, you're janware wearing a.
- 35:19Speaker 3: M All right, this is going to go off the rail.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Let's take a break more O t B when we
- 35:24Speaker 3: come back here on this Tuesday, Tuesday off the bench,
- 35:29Speaker 3: all right. Go to g c o pnet dot com.
- 35:33Speaker 2: That's website for Gulf Coast Office Products, and we tell
- 35:37Speaker 2: you over time you need a document, you don't need
- 35:40Speaker 2: it tomorrow, you don't need it next week, you need
- 35:42Speaker 2: it right now. And that's why their locations in New
- 35:44Speaker 2: Orleans and battan Rugi and Manville and laugh. Yet they
- 35:47Speaker 2: are going to make sure that that is exactly what
- 35:50Speaker 2: you get. And so it doesn't really matter what industry
- 35:52Speaker 2: you're in. We talk about all the time, law firm, schools, universities, banks,
- 35:56Speaker 2: hospitals like you still deal with documents on a daily basis.
- 35:59Speaker 3: So you to make sure that you have the latest,

- 36:10Speaker 7: with this show, I go to my office and we
- 36:13Speaker 7: have an office, we have printer. We deal with paperwork
- 36:15Speaker 7: there and also the factor. We deal with mounds of
- 36:17Speaker 7: paperwork and we got to communicate. So if anything is
- 36:20Speaker 7: ever down, it halts our entire business. So do business
- 36:23Speaker 7: with a local company that when something happens, you talk
- 36:26Speaker 7: to an actual person to help you out.
- 36:27Speaker 6: Gcop net dot Com.
- 36:35Speaker 1: From the locker room to the airwaves gets off the
- 36:38Speaker 1: bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 37:01Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTB here on this Tuesday afternoon.
- 37:04Speaker 2: A couple more segments for you before we get out
- 37:06Speaker 2: of here. And one of the things that I was
- 37:09Speaker 2: just thinking of, because you had a lot of conversations
- 37:12Speaker 2: about how do we get this LSU run game going,
- 37:15Speaker 2: and I was like, wait a minute, hold up. I
- 37:18Speaker 2: went to practice a couple of times and I remember
- 37:20Speaker 2: seeing a lot of Juwan Johnson who started running back
- 37:24Speaker 2: and maybe but that maybe that's the reason because he
- 37:27Speaker 2: had to give a started running back and play more
- 37:29Speaker 2: running back than anticipated. But Tye, you went to camp
- 37:32Speaker 2: more than I did. You couldn't go out there, certainly
- 37:35Speaker 2: at the beginning of camp and not see Juwan Johnson
- 37:38Speaker 2: take direct snaps. So a lot of people are talking
- 37:41Speaker 2: about like adding a quarterback run element to your offense,
- 37:45Speaker 2: like that was something that was early and often when
- 37:48Speaker 2: you go to camp, it.
- 37:49Speaker 8: Was it was every practice, I mean first drives, like
- 37:52Speaker 8: they had a formation where it was actually Malachai lane
- 37:55Speaker 8: walk on running back Caden Durham. They were kind of
- 37:58Speaker 8: the two lead blockers for Juwan john I mean it
- 38:00Speaker 8: was quarterback power straight to him with two running backs
- 38:03Speaker 8: his lead blockers.
- 38:04Speaker 6: I mean they did it on the goal line a lot.
- 38:06Speaker 8: They did it it they would do it inside like
- 38:07Speaker 8: the little red zone packages we saw. I mean we
- 38:09Speaker 8: saw that pretty much every single time I.
- 38:12Speaker 3: Was out there.
- 38:12Speaker 6: I hadn't seen it once.
- 38:15Speaker 2: I mean I saw I went to four five practices
- 38:20Speaker 2: and I saw it a ton, Like I didn't even
- 38:22Speaker 2: think about that because you know, you get in the
- 38:24Speaker 2: season and you like none that was something they worked on.
- 38:27Speaker 2: So I wonder why that has not shown up, why
- 38:29Speaker 2: they haven't really maybe given over to at least trying.
- 38:33Speaker 6: For saving it. Noah shouldn't say anything. We're saving it,
- 38:39Speaker 6: setting them up.
- 38:41Speaker 7: Got everybody else, got the reci of people on our
- 38:42Speaker 7: schedule right where we want them where, right.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Where we want them.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Just a thought.
- 38:52Speaker 2: I mean, I'm kind of bama a gump, I'm kind
- 38:54Speaker 2: of I'm with you, like I have an idea run
- 38:56Speaker 2: the ball, I'm with you. I'm just of things that
- 39:01Speaker 2: we saw in camp. That's something we haven't seen. And
- 39:05Speaker 2: I know Taylor mentioned it a ton.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I know I saw it.
- 39:08Speaker 2: You saw the day that you probably went out there
- 39:10Speaker 2: and just something you hadn't seen. But going back to Bamacomb, yeah, hey,
- 39:15Speaker 2: hey we're going to run thirty four zone on one
- 39:18Speaker 2: on one ready?
- 39:21Speaker 6: How many passes did Nust throw those days when they
- 39:23Speaker 6: were working on that a lot.
- 39:25Speaker 8: When they were working on it, it was kind of
- 39:27Speaker 8: exclusively that so like they they did a goal line,
- 39:31Speaker 8: but what we saw most was like lining up at
- 39:33Speaker 8: the ten so gold to go situations. They ranted a lot,
- 39:37Speaker 8: And I mean Nus was a receiver a few times,
- 39:39Speaker 8: which that's never going to be a threat. To anyone,
- 39:42Speaker 8: no offense figure out Nelsemeyer. But no, I mean they
- 39:44Speaker 8: kind of exclusively did that for a couple of periods.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I'd rather go three and out an I formation.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Just think back in the day, though, Like let's let's
- 39:58Speaker 7: take a trip down Laying eleven years ago, twelve years ago,
- 40:03Speaker 7: when our quarterback was lined up in a power formation
- 40:06Speaker 7: and he was pointing behind his back for the power.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Nine talis and well, I mean the direction is going.
- 40:12Speaker 6: How much we hated it.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Dag did that this last game against the Packers. He
- 40:17Speaker 3: did it. He got back and pointed which way. But
- 40:19Speaker 3: he didn't do it thirty eight times a game.
- 40:21Speaker 2: I didn't say that, I just said he did it. Hey,
- 40:24Speaker 2: there's a thing called a balance of what we're talking.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Like when I watched the Buffalo Bills, they were and
- 40:32Speaker 2: gun here under center, there, a little run here, a
- 40:35Speaker 2: little past there.
- 40:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:37Speaker 7: So I was just wondering if it was like one
- 40:39Speaker 7: of those prizes were dud didn't throw it a lot? Yeah,
- 40:42Speaker 7: two points from the Torso injury. I didn't know there
- 40:45Speaker 7: was a lot of practices like that, met I know,
- 40:47Speaker 7: I mean was weird. It's like there's something wrong.
- 40:52Speaker 8: There was a pitch count, because you know, quarterbacks are
- 40:54Speaker 8: one of those all the time.
- 40:57Speaker 6: Everything's fine, everything's fine. Guys all right where we want them.
- 41:05Speaker 8: I also think it's convenient that the scrimmage of the
- 41:07Speaker 8: media was allowed to go to in Tiger Stadium. Nelson
- 41:10Speaker 8: Meyer did not throw a pass. But don't worry, Kelly
- 41:13Speaker 8: said the scrimmage that was closed to the media the
- 41:15Speaker 8: week before, here was a full participant.
- 41:17Speaker 5: So not to work.
- 41:21Speaker 6: There we go.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Until we're good. Well, well let's there. Here's here. You
- 41:28Speaker 7: want to hear some facts. Though we got one loss.
- 41:32Speaker 7: Most people are predicted to be ten and two, so
- 41:35Speaker 7: we only got one. Right now, a lot of season left.
- 41:38Speaker 3: You got a mulligan.
- 41:40Speaker 6: I don't need one, you.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Know what I'm saying, but you can use it. If
- 41:43Speaker 3: he said ten and two, yep, he still got one more.
- 41:46Speaker 6: He still got one more to give. Still make the playoffs.
- 41:49Speaker 6: I'm feeling good.
- 41:53Speaker 7: Those are just facts. We're giving a lot of opinions today.
- 41:56Speaker 7: You want facts. We just got one loss. It's very true.
- 42:00Speaker 6: It's very true. We gonna make the playoffs. Make a run.
- 42:02Speaker 6: Jarret Torso be healed up by them.
- 42:04Speaker 3: You heard it here first.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Here, First, I would have him do absolutely nothing these
- 42:09Speaker 2: next five days.
- 42:11Speaker 6: Don't even work out.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Oh no, yeah, nope, all right, we'll take our last break.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Put a bow on this show when we come back
- 42:20Speaker 2: here live in the raised Gages studio.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Off the bench, all right, go to get Gordon dot Com.
